Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: What exactly are you leaving behind?
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Believe it or not, our children do not need assets.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: That's not what they need.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: They don't need more things.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: If you think about it, the majority of people, especially over the age of 50, have lived lives planning to leave things to their children.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Where basically we've been trained to contain all of our wants and our desires and to become very reserved so that we can preserve the assets that we've been able to accumulate.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: But there's a point in time when you get ready to break through and go to another level.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: There is a moment when you have to change your focus and actually go in the direction of your destiny.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: If you think about it, our kids, God forbid, if something happened to any of us now and you've got adult children, do they actually have room in their house for your old couch?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: How about those three TVs that you have?
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Do you think they actually want your shoes?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And that coat that you bought 10 years ago meant so much to you then because it was made out of a amazing material or possibly fur.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Do you think they actually want that?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Do you think your kids want your shoes?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I would challenge you with something.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Do you know that bunion on your left toe?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: It made that weird lump on the majority of your shoes?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Your kids don't want your shoes.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And ladies, I know this is going to be a shocker.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And I know right now, once I say this, you'll be clutching your pearls.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: But guess what?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: They don't want those chandelier-shaped earrings.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Your children don't want them.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: You know the earrings, the ones that were left by your aunt.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Do you remember those?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: You inherited those.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: The kids don't want that.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: If we're going to empower our children, the next generation for greatness, we need to leave examples.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: It is the example, the testament of our lives that they'll get an opportunity to read.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: What did we actually do?
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Did we take the initiative to go back to school, to start that new career, to open that new business?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: We are in the greatest time in human history.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: There is no limit to what we can do, but we must do.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, the consequence of failure to actually launch out and to do that thing that's been put inside of our hearts, the failure to do that means we live with regret.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: And guess what else?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: We live with the reality that we bailed out just a little too soon.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: There's nothing like that.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And that's an experience that you don't even need to have because we can choose right now to actually activate, to pivot into our next, because we've been given a skill set that money can't buy.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: The things that we've learned over these prior 50 years, the things that we've learned, they aren't even being taught.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: We are the ones, we are the ones, the preservers of that legacy of data and information and strategy and mindset.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: We were given that.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: We were taught that, and we have the responsibility to carry it forward to the next generations.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: They are not going to listen to what we say if they don't see what we have done.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: The greatest gift that we can leave to our children is recreating, reimagining our own lives, and demonstrating to our children, I did it again.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: You're never too old, and it is never too late to start your next.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: I'm so proud of you.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Now, I want to say something before we end this podcast.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: This is not quit your job day, and that is not what pivoting and activating your next looks like.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: We're not talking about a cliff dive.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: We're talking about a strategic transition.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: And I believe if you stay tuned over the next few episodes, you're going to clearly see the best and the most effective way to get it done.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: You have everything that it takes.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: I'll see you on the next five minute episode.
