• 4:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been together for over five years but we just got married in February and it's been a whirlwind of emotions and experiences, but it's been a really good time in both of our lives.

• 4:45
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good You're on your way, and how's your dad?
• 4:47
  Speaker 2: He's doing well.
• 4:48
Speaker 2: I got to see him a few days ago for the birth and he's still building motors over there in Orange, Texas, at Diamondback Performance.
• 4:55
Speaker 2: We'd still like to talk to him.
• 4:57
Speaker 2: If you can get him to do it.
• 4:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, for sure.
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: But he's loving it.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: I've got at least 400 Hot Wheels cars that he bought for the baby boy.
• 5:08
  Speaker 4: Thank you, Dad.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: When the day comes and he doesn't swallow them, then you're doing fine, yeah, he is, he kind of holds on to it for that yeah.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: So let's talk about your racing endeavors.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: Is that still continuing?
• 5:21
Speaker 2: Racing is still continuing.
• 5:23
Speaker 2: I slowed it down some obviously to prepare for baby boy and, believe it or not, my wife's chomping at the bit to get back out there more than me.
• 5:33
Speaker 3: Really, she's got a brand new dragster.
• 5:34
Speaker 3: That's what we heard.
• 5:35
Speaker 3: Was she racing before?
• 5:36
Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, that's just part of what y'all do, yeah, that's how we met at the racetrack, we met at State Capitol.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: As I mentioned to Stan, it sounds awfully familiar.
• 5:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, met the girl at the racetrack.
• 5:51
Speaker 1: Dated her for a while, and then they get married, then they have babies.
• 5:56
Speaker 4: What is it with?
• 5:56
Speaker 1: these cars and racing and stuff.
• 5:59
Speaker 3: Girls, fast women, that's it.
• 6:02
Speaker 3: Fast women, a different kind of fast.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: They know how to drive a stick.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it Fast women.
• 6:05
Speaker 4: That's it Fast women.
• 6:05
Speaker 4: A different kind of fast, that'll do it.
• 6:05
Speaker 4: That know how to drive a stick, yeah.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: So you've scaled it back.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: So what's Mama got cooking?
• 6:11
Speaker 2: Mama, like I said, is itching and trying to get back in that dragster.
• 6:15
Speaker 1: Okay, what class dragster she?
• 6:19
Speaker 2: is running a super comp dragster 175 miles an hour, 8.9 seconds.
• 6:24
Speaker 2: She grew up the same way I did in a junior dragster at eight years old.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: Is that where you met her junior dragsters?
• 6:32
Speaker 2: We have a slight age gap, but I was actually testing my top dragster while she was testing her 330 Outlaw junior dragster in Baton Rouge, louisiana, and so you know we said hey and took a picture and a few years down the road we ended up together.
• 6:48
Speaker 4: And it was hey, hey, yeah.
• 6:52
Speaker 2: So yeah, it's good to say that.
• 6:56
Speaker 2: You know we're all racers and we have a great time.
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: That's good.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: I understand also that you've been brought into the Loopy Tortilla organization.
• 7:04
  Speaker 2: I have.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, stan has brought me in under his wing as director of operations Awesome.
• 7:09
Speaker 2: Every day I'm learning, helping out these guys and seeing what true rock stars they are.
• 7:15
Speaker 2: We really have some great people here, yeah, so it's a blessing to be able to see them and what they do for the organization.
• 7:24
Speaker 2: They're just so kind and caring people.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: That's in any of the Lupe organizations.
• 7:30
Speaker 1: There's one guy that's instrumental in that he's sitting right over there.
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: That's Stan.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: It's amazing that everybody loves this guy.
• 7:41
  Speaker 2: They do.
• 7:42
  Speaker 1: Respect him.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: It's a pleasure to be around him.
• 7:46
Speaker 1: They do and respect him and it's a pleasure to be around him.
• 7:48
Speaker 1: It is Kind of like a Billy Graham in a car kind of way.
• 7:51
Speaker 1: Can I say that?
• 7:53
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 7:55
Speaker 1: It is kind of that way, and you know he welcomes everybody and it permeates the organization that he's created.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: And I know that you just got through telling me hey, don, you know, we're putting all the loopy tortillas kind of under one umbrella kind of again.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: And you know men and fences and all that, and that's fine, well and good, but you guys basically take care of four stores, correct?
• 8:22
  Speaker 2: That's correct.
• 8:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're over here at Grand Parkway we have the original, which is 40 years old.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: As you know, we have Beaumont Texas and Call the Station Texas as well.
• 8:31
Speaker 2: All four of them are just thriving and full of great people, and I can't help but say it all trickles down from Stan.
• 8:40
Speaker 1: I know, yes, it does.
• 8:41
Speaker 1: So is Jaime still part of the?
• 8:44
Speaker 2: Unfortunately, we tried to run him off, you know, but when you got a hell of a manager in Beaumont, Well you know.
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Jaime and I have history.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, do we want to talk about that?
• 8:55
  Speaker 2: Yeah, we do.
• 8:55
Speaker 2: Can we talk about that on the air or?
• 8:57
  Speaker 1: not.
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Jaime taught me many things in the catering department and he also taught me how to actually be fed when I'm doing a catering event, because typically there's no time for that.
• 9:12
Speaker 1: But at the end of the service he had a styrofoam cup like this put a little rice down in there, you put some beans in there and you put some fajita meat in there and there's your meal in a cup there.
• 9:24
Speaker 1: Put some fajita meat in there and there's your meal in a cup.
• 9:26
  Speaker 2: There you go.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: And I think that it ought to be a to-go menu item, don't you think?
• 9:29
Speaker 1: Because it worked for me.
• 9:31
Speaker 1: So Jaime taught me many things, and Jaime and Mikey and me, we did the catering thing for a couple of years, and what an experience that was.
• 9:42
  Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a Jaime's a great guy.
• 9:44
Speaker 2: I love hanging out with him.
• 9:45
Speaker 2: I have such a long history with him, even before you know being involved with Lupe's in that capacity.
• 9:53
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: But he's just a great guy.
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: He is Now.
• 9:55
Speaker 1: Isn't he married now?
• 9:58
Speaker 2: He has a baby.
• 9:59
Speaker 1: I cannot imagine little Jaime.
• 10:01
  Speaker 1: Anyway, I've got a picture.
• 10:04
Speaker 2: The good news is the baby's the same size as him.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: That's not much of a stretch because Jaime's a small guy.
• 10:10
Speaker 1: But great heart and a good guy.
• 10:13
Speaker 2: Small but mighty, he gets stuff done, there's no doubt.
• 10:18
Speaker 1: Is he in Beaumont?
• 10:18
Speaker 2: He is in Beaumont.
• 10:19
Speaker 2: We're blessed to have him part of this team.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: It's been a very long time with Lupe Tortilla.
• 10:26
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because I was there with him from pretty much the beginning.
• 10:30
Speaker 1: I don't know if he beat me much by being at the original one, do you?
• 10:37
Speaker 1: It was about the same time, yeah, and I don't know how Stan managed to put the three of us together, but those boys taught me a lot and it was good, good times.
• 10:50
Speaker 2: Stan has a special way of bringing the right people together at the right time.
• 10:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't that interesting.
• 10:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get back to the racing.
• 10:57
Speaker 1: So what is your car that you drive around every day?
• 11:06
Speaker 2: Well, right now, you know, Stan kind of gave me freedom to go grab any one of his 45 cars that he has over there, like the white GTO out there, yeah, like the white GTO that is for sale.
• 11:15
Speaker 2: So if you want to come, look at it.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: That's what we heard.
• 11:17
Speaker 1: We understand that that's the GTO HO 455.
• 11:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a very nice car, I love to see him get out and about in it.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: Every once in a while he'll pop up at the original and he's in a different car every time.
• 11:32
Speaker 1: Here, take this one.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: Here, take this one.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: Let me trade you.
• 11:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I love to see it.
• 11:36
Speaker 2: It's really cool to see him enjoy all of his cars that he has Absolutely Well.
• 11:41
Speaker 4: Here's the plan You've got a new baby.
• 11:42
Speaker 4: That's something to work for.
• 11:44
Speaker 4: So when the baby learns how to drive, there you go.
• 11:46
  Speaker 2: That's it.
• 11:46
Speaker 2: I have a feeling it won't be long yeah.
• 11:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it won't be.
• 11:51
Speaker 1: I think Junior Dragster is going to be the first on the list.
• 11:54
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 11:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, sheila held up the regional Junior Dragsters here.
• 11:59
  Speaker 2: That's it.
• 11:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's how she and Stan met on the drag racing thing.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: Yep, and I was telling Stan in the earlier part of the show that I reminded him of when I met him, and that was about close to when he met you.
• 12:14
Speaker 1: And what was the name of the Chinese place?
• 12:18
  Speaker 1: They're all over.
• 12:21
Speaker 1: What is the name of that place?
• 12:23
Speaker 1: Not Shanghai Reds, it's?
• 12:26
Speaker 4: yeah, kim Son or something.
• 12:30
Speaker 1: No, and not Kim Son, it's PF Chang's.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: Went to PF Chang's.
• 12:34
  Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Chinese.
• 12:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, pf Chang's, well, it's whatever you want to call it, but that's what we yeah, and we all sat and laughed and cried and cried out of laughter because he told the nut joke at the table that night and we had had quite a few drinks that night.
• 12:53
Speaker 1: And in the parking lot he says, hey, man, I need somebody to run the catering department.
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: I said, stan, I got a job.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: I'm working with you, know David Powers, and doing the drag racing thing, and I'm really not looking.
• 13:07
Speaker 1: I'll teach you everything you need to know.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: Well, wasn't it long after that, hey, stan, you still got that job open.
• 13:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, come on, let's do it, yep, and it's been a road.
• 13:20
Speaker 1: Sheila Mae, it has been a road.
• 13:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, she and I have been through some interesting times together.
• 13:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, with that guy there, I know.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: Stan's always at the center of together.
• 13:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, with that guy there.
• 13:31
Speaker 2: I know Stan's always at the center of it.
• 13:32
Speaker 2: I've heard stories about you.
• 13:32
Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard stories about Sheila.
• 13:35
  Speaker 4: Sheila May yeah.
• 13:36
  Speaker 1: Good stuff.
• 13:37
Speaker 4: It's great, she's actually told them.
• 13:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, so who's going to do the giveaway here?
• 13:41
Speaker 1: As far as the award trophies, have you judged the cars?
• 13:46
Speaker 1: Is somebody in charge of that?
• 13:48
Speaker 2: I'm going to consult.
• 13:49
Speaker 2: I've got a couple buddies over here and they've made their rounds.
• 13:52
Speaker 2: Oh you have, so you guys have made the rounds.
• 13:54
Speaker 1: I could go get my Buick.
• 13:55
Speaker 1: You know, I seem to recognize these two.
• 13:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, They've been around.
• 13:59
Speaker 1: They've been around no doubt Was it jail, is that where I saw you last?
• 14:04
Speaker 1: I'm not sure, at the county, but at any rate, okay.
• 14:08
Speaker 1: Well, let's plan on doing that at 1030.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, because I know that the event is over at 11 o'clock and guys are starting to leave, so we want to make sure that we get that in.
• 14:18
  Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
• 14:18
  Speaker 1: All right.
• 14:19
Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry You've got a baby and a baby mama to get home to.
• 14:23
Speaker 1: Well, there's that too.
• 14:25
Speaker 1: Yes, I know, the baby and the baby mama, you didn't bring the baby.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: Didn't bring the baby.
• 14:29
  Speaker 1: It's a little young yet.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: But it won't be long before his first tailpipe in tacos, that's for sure.
• 14:35
Speaker 1: And, by the way you know, you threatened last time we had one of these events.
• 14:38
Speaker 1: Last time we talked that you're going to have one over in Beaumont.
• 14:42
Speaker 1: Yes, and Mars would be thrilled to have it over there because you know he lives in Neaterville.
• 14:47
  Speaker 2: Yep, I know.
• 14:48
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 14:48
  Speaker 2: Yep, I know.

• 14:50
Speaker 2: I wanted to do it this year, obviously, with the baby coming in.
• 14:53
Speaker 2: There was too much on the plate to commit to something over there, but we're going to put it on the calendar.
• 15:00
Speaker 1: You could have a diaper changing contest you know, I just had this epiphany and that is.
• 15:05

• 18:37
Speaker 1: All right, let's do this week in auto history.
• 18:40
Speaker 1: Mr Mars has that.
• 18:54
Speaker 4: So I found three or four different stories that are really interesting that are kind of let me tell you.
• 18:56
Speaker 3: November, the 9th 1937, waldo dean waterman in san diego, california, where's waldo?
• 18:59
Speaker 3: Got a patent for the uh, a revolutionary automobile that could transform into an airplane or from an airplane into a car oh yeah this was called the aerobiel a-R-R-O-W-B-I-L-E.
• 19:07
Speaker 3: It was based on a high-wing monoplane with detachable wings.
• 19:11
Speaker 3: It was later powered by a water-cooled Studebaker engine and you could transform it into a car, or you could take the car and transform it into an airplane.
• 19:20
Speaker 1: Hell, that's what I fly in SkyEye right now Exactly.
• 19:24
Speaker 3: So the system was built so that the same wheel that drove the car drove the airplane One steering wheel, all the controls and everything was built to interact in between everything and it was designed with car-like standards and you could put baggage under the seats, so if you were flying or driving either way.
• 19:41
Speaker 3: Now, on February the 21st 1937, the Aerobill made its maiden flight when the first three left California and went to Cleveland.
• 19:54
Speaker 3: Now, the number five was never completed and the number six was actually completed in 1957, dubbed the Aerobille A-E-R-O-B-I-L-E, and it's sitting in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Virginia.
• 20:05
Speaker 3: Cool Now, november the 10th 1885, we had this conversation earlier.
• 20:13
Speaker 3: This was considered the first modern motorcycle, but they called it a riding car at the time.
• 20:19
Speaker 3: It was called the riding car and at the controls was 17-year-old Paul Daimler, son of the bikes inventor Gottlieb Daimler, mercedes, all that good stuff.
• 20:28
Speaker 3: So he was the first biker.
• 20:30
Speaker 3: But some people want to argue that because it was made out of primarily wood, had wood wheels with iron rubber where the rubber would go, it was iron on the tread and it had a platform on the bottom of it that had balancing wheels is what they called it.
• 20:48
Speaker 3: You know what you used to call training wheels, so that they called them stabilizers.
• 20:53
Speaker 3: So they didn't really consider it a four vehicle, four tire vehicle.
• 20:56
Speaker 2: So they considered wheels almost.
• 20:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, it was exactly like training wheels and uh, it was a single horizontal 264cc or 16 cubic inch engine.
• 21:05
  Speaker 3: It's air cooling.
• 21:06
Speaker 3: It had a surface carburetor and the ignition was by a hot tube, so it had a hot tube that was mounted on top of the engine.
• 21:14
  Speaker 4: A hot tube.
• 21:15
Speaker 4: I knew he was going there.
• 21:18
Speaker 3: And so, unfortunately, the hot tube got hot and caught the seat on fire while he was driving it.
• 21:21
Speaker 3: But 600 RPM running speed.
• 21:25
  Speaker 3: Ran 120 to 180 RPM.
• 21:28
Speaker 1: That'd take care of those hemorrhoids pretty quick, wouldn't it?
• 21:31
Speaker 3: Exactly so, again, 3.1 to 7.5 mile per hour during the initial trip.
• 21:36
Speaker 3: That's when the seat caught on fire and so the fire destroyed the original creation in 1903.
• 21:42
Speaker 3: But they built several replicas and they're in museums and stuff.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: But this is considered the first motorcycle.
• 21:47
  Speaker 1: First.
• 21:47
  Speaker 3: Carbacue yes.
• 21:48
  Speaker 3: November 12, 1908.
• 21:51
Speaker 3: General Motors buys Oldsmobile.
• 21:53
Speaker 3: The founding of Oldsmobile took place in October 14, 1897.
• 21:57
Speaker 3: Between 1901 and 1904, the factory turned out the Curved Dash model, which is considered the first mass produced automobile in the industry.
• 22:07
Speaker 3: Now they used an automotive.
• 22:09
Speaker 1: There's no damn dash in it, it's curved.
• 22:11
Speaker 1: No, there's nothing there, it's a little footwell.
• 22:15
Speaker 1: Well, you've changed it.
• 22:16
Speaker 4: Anyway, go ahead, that's an old that's a new model.
• 22:20
  Speaker 3: They used it.
• 22:21
Speaker 3: The bad thing, the main thing, was that they used it on an assembly line.
• 22:24
Speaker 3: Now a lot of people talk about Ford created the assembly line.
• 22:27
Speaker 3: Ford had an automated moving assembly line where the car moved by itself.
• 22:33
Speaker 3: What Oldsmobile did before that they would take the car, they would push it to the station, people would work on it there, then they would push it to the next station, whereas before this came up, people would go to the car and they would build the car completely and then they would go to the next car.
• 22:48
Speaker 3: So while Ford kind of mechanized everything, he really didn't create the first assembly line, however.
• 22:54
Speaker 3: So General Motors bought it and it was really pretty successful for over the decades.
• 23:01
Speaker 3: But after that it didn't really do that good and in December 2000, general Motors announced that they were probably going to shut down the brand because of financial issues and low sales volume.
• 23:10
Speaker 3: Production ended on April 29, 2004, when it closed the oldest surviving American car brand, and that is this week in automobile history.
• 23:23
Speaker 1: That's beautiful, you know.
• 23:24
Speaker 1: I just saw in the crowd here at the Loopy Tortilla.
• 23:28
  Speaker 4: And it's a vast crowd.
• 23:29
Speaker 4: There's elbows out here.
• 23:31
Speaker 1: My nephew and his wife.
• 23:32
Speaker 1: And is the grandson here?
• 23:34
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I never get to see them.
• 23:37
Speaker 1: Look who showed up.
• 23:39
Speaker 1: It's my nephew, brian Sweetland, his wife.
• 23:45
  Speaker 1: I'm honored.
• 23:48
Speaker 1: Are they from Austin?
• 23:49
Speaker 3: No, from here and you don't go see them.
• 23:52
Speaker 1: No, and they actually live in Sugar Land.
• 23:54
  Speaker 1: He's a huge Sugar Land.
• 23:57
Speaker 1: Well, it used to be the Skeeters, now it's the Space Cowboys.
• 24:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, and you are a Space Cowboy.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: You always have been, I know, I remember are a space cowboy.
• 24:06
Speaker 1: You always have been, I know.
• 24:07
Speaker 1: I remember when he was born.
• 24:11
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 24:12
Speaker 1: How do you eat my sister's child?
• 24:15
Speaker 1: All right, let's see how are we doing here.
• 24:18
Speaker 1: Oh, we're doing, good, we're doing good.
• 24:20
Speaker 1: President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is planning to kill the $7,500 consumer tax credit for electric vehicle purchases as part of broader tax reform legislation.
• 24:31
Speaker 1: Two sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters Ending the tax credit could have grave implications for an already stalling US EV transition.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: And yet representatives of Tesla, by far the nation's largest EV seller, have told the Trump transition committee they support ending the subsidy.
• 24:53
Speaker 3: Well, it takes out some of their competitors probably.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: I do remember when they first started that a bunch of people went out and bought electric golf carts as automobiles and they got the $7,500 credit on a $10,000 golf cart.
• 25:06
Speaker 3: Well, they had lights and they had brakes and they had everything.
• 25:09
  Speaker 1: They qualified it.
• 25:11
Speaker 3: And they put a license plate on it.
• 25:12
Speaker 3: Well, you know, there are whole communities of people down there.
• 25:15
Speaker 1: A whole community of people down there in Florida.
• 25:18
Speaker 1: That's all they drive in that community is nothing but the golf cart.
• 25:22
Speaker 3: Well, around our town there's getting to be more and more because of the speed limits.
• 25:26
Speaker 1: I thought of Chase Murray because I've been seeing Reels videos on Facebook of these guys that have hot-rodded golf carts.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: Have you seen that?
• 25:39
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 25:39
  Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
• 25:40
Speaker 2: I haven't seen that yet yeah.
• 25:42
Speaker 1: Here comes a golf cart that can do burnouts and at least 60 miles an hour on a golf cart and lawnmowers too.
• 25:51
Speaker 3: They have drag races for them.
• 25:58
  Speaker 1: One more story?
• 25:58
  Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
• 25:59
Speaker 1: The average trade-in during the third quarter carried an all-time record amount of negative equity with the Bauer underwater by an average of $6,458, up 11% from a year earlier, according to Edmonds.
• 26:17
Speaker 1: A year ago, through the lower than the 34% in the pre-pandemic third quarter of 2019, according to Edmonds.
• 26:31
Speaker 1: So you're upside down in your car and you keep buying more expensive cars.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: That's going to happen.
• 26:36
Speaker 3: You keep going upside down.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: Well, you buy them while they're really high, back during the pandemic, when there was a shortage, and now prices are stabilized.
• 26:43
Speaker 1: Yeah well, the prices are out of this world, in my opinion $40,000 for an average automobile for a new car, pay cash.
• 26:51
  Speaker 3: Wow, it's a lot man.
• 26:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, most people can't pay cash.
