- 1:29with the show. This is Noah's week and you got
- 1:32the Halloween episode you mother fucker.
- 1:34That's right, either by accident or on purpose, but it was
- 1:38definitely by accident. I managed to land on the
- 1:43Halloween episode and I kind of went back and forth in my pic
- 1:49where I was looking for like a Halloween themed movie, but it
- 1:54was a little bit slim picking. So then I thought, well, I'll
- 1:56pick like a horror staple. I went all the way back and I
- 2:00picked a movie that sort of sparked this genre in a way.
- 2:06I picked 1968's Night of the Living Dead from George Romero.
- 2:11What a classic my man. I had never seen this had you
- 2:17guys. You guys have obviously seen
- 2:18this, but I'm much like in a lot of the other episodes, I'm
- 2:23catching up on some things I haven't seen.
- 2:27That's good for the show, man. This blows my mind.
- 2:32It's a class. I mean, I've only been into like
- 2:33horror movies, Reese more recently.
- 2:37Like I was not into it when I was young.
- 2:40You know what else we found out Noah hasn't seen before?
- 2:42That he's watching off the record, not for screen box the
- 2:46Evil Dead series. Yeah, you need to get to that.
- 2:50There's so much evil out there for you to watch.
- 2:53There's a lot of them, right? And they're like, they make them
- 2:56like somewhat recently. So Evil Dead Rise was the most
- 3:00recent. And they just finished wrapping
- 3:03up the next one. Yeah, up Evil dead.
- 3:06No, Evil Dead Burn. Yep, yeah, Burn is the next one,
- 3:10yes, yes. But anyways anyways.
- 3:14Well, yeah, so I got some information, I got some
- 3:17structure for this one that you guys want to hear.
- 3:20You want to hear some stuff? Absolutely.
- 3:23Alright, I've got my Marcus Parks hat on.
- 3:24I did some research. A lot of this stuff does come
- 3:28from the wiki page. There's some stuff from some
- 3:30cast interviews website called Daily JSTORI.
- 3:35Don't know if that's pronounced like Jester and Box Office Mojo.
- 3:40So OK, here we go. Night of the Living Dead is the
- 3:45first feature length film from George Romero.
- 3:48His early career consisted of working on smaller projects,
- 3:51such as a segment for Mr. Roger's Neighborhood in in which
- 3:55Mr. Roger received a tonsillectomy.
- 3:59During an interview, he said that that was the scariest film
- 4:02he had ever shot because he had final say over its editing.
- 4:06That was the first time he had a lot of control and that scared
- 4:09him as a young filmmaker. He made some friends along the
- 4:12way, including writer John Russo during his time in the industry
- 4:17who would later help him in future projects.
- 4:20Originally, Romero pitched the concept of the movie to the
- 4:23Pittsburgh based Hardman Associates.
- 4:26We see them in the movie. They make pretty prominent
- 4:30cameos and characters in the movie.
- 4:32Discussions around the concept of the movie eventually led to
- 4:35the creation of Image 10 Productions, which is the
- 4:38company that produced this. He did that partner with John
- 4:42Russo and eight other members. Each of the members contributed
- 4:47$600.00 for a share of the profit.
- 4:50Another 10 more investors Rage raised another $6000 and finally
- 4:55after some filming they were able to convince more people and
- 4:59some more people kicked in some money and eventually the final
- 5:03budget of the movie was just over 110,000 which is a just
- 5:07over $1,000,000 today. Like barely over that's.
- 5:09Crazy. As for the script, Romero and
- 5:16Russo wrote the script together. Originally, they wanted to make
- 5:19the movie more about aliens, and we do see a little bit of that
- 5:23where they're talking about the the ship near Saturn that comes
- 5:28back. Yeah.
- 5:29They realized quickly that they would never be able to get the
- 5:32budget to make a UFO prop that would look good enough for the
- 5:35ambition. Romero had the idea for a
- 5:39version of the story where a boy discovers a group of flesh
- 5:42eating aliens and then he changed it to ghouls because,
- 5:45again, they couldn't make a convincing effect and they would
- 5:49be eating corpses out of a cemetery.
- 5:51Filming started before the script was finished and the
- 5:55story kind of evolved as filming went on.
- 5:58So there's a lot of stuff as you're watching in the
- 6:02beginning, how it sort of evolves over time.
- 6:04It's not necessarily because of something that is written, but
- 6:08they were developing the story as they went, which also made it
- 6:11really hard to convince people to invest in this because it was
- 6:16unfinished and they didn't have an ending.
- 6:19Casting is always difficult for a movie with essentially no
- 6:23budget. All of the actors were either
- 6:27friends of Romero from the industry, friends of Hardman
- 6:30associates or members of their family.
- 6:35So we had Judith O'Day as Barbara, who in an interview,
- 6:41she talks about the remake of this movie.
- 6:44And she talked about how she didn't like that they made her
- 6:47character into more of like a hero type, or she'd be swinging
- 6:51a weapon around and like doing a little more action.
- 6:54And she liked the character more as this like, helpless, rattled
- 6:58woman. She had a everybody in this
- 7:03movie had like, small, limited careers.
- 7:06Specifically, her most recent work was in a movie called
- 7:10Vampire Zombies from Space, which came out in 2024 and
- 7:15features a young Mr. Lloyd Kaufman, who is credited as a
- 7:18public masturbator. Uncle Lloyd.
- 7:24Uncle Lloyd, Uncle Lloyd getting connected to this movie in some
- 7:28way. So I think what we should do on
- 7:30the show moving forward is we should start playing 6° of Lloyd
- 7:33Kaufman. I that that is a new segment
- 7:36that is happening that is stapled in.
- 7:38We got to try to figure out how we can attach Uncle Lloyd to the
- 7:42movies we watch. Some of them it's going to be
- 7:43easy because if we're watching Troma movies, obviously, yeah,
- 7:46Like Superman. Like any Guardians of the Galaxy
- 7:50movie, you can link it back to Lloyd Kaufman in some way.
- 7:53Yeah. You had Dwayne Jones as Ben and
- 7:59like we were talking about while we were watching it, his the
- 8:04very casting of him was controversial because it was
- 8:06rare to see a black actor in the lead role of a film.
- 8:13They just said that he gave the best audition and they picked
- 8:16him for the lead. He didn't work for very long.
- 8:20His final role was in 1989. A lot of the other cast members
- 8:26were parts of the production team, family members, or some
- 8:29local celebrities from the Pittsburgh area.
- 8:35Filming is a complex task for a low budget movie.
- 8:39The crew used cheap, practical effects to pull off the more
- 8:42fantastic elements of the movie, including using Bosco chocolate
- 8:46syrup as blood and used meat and Awful, which is a meat product
- 8:52that's basically all of the unused parts.
- 8:55It's scrapple. So it's like, yeah, it's
- 8:57scrapple. The skin and the, yeah, all that
- 9:00kind of disgusting stuff. So all the time when you see
- 9:04when they're eating, like when the ghouls are eating stuff.
- 9:07Pig butt holes. Can you like, just imagine what
- 9:09that smelled like? Oh yeah, it's nasty that.
- 9:13Fuck that. Yeah, really bad.
- 9:17Closer to the end of production when they had finally finished
- 9:20the script and they had called it Night of the Flesh Eaters,
- 9:24they were also able to start using plaster on the actors
- 9:30faces to give them that sort of decaying look.
- 9:34They had a really hard time finding distribution for this.
- 9:37A lot of companies didn't want to put it out without editing
- 9:42it. There was also concerns because
- 9:44it was still being shot in black and white.
- 9:47That was they were everybody was moving to color by that point.
- 9:53Eventually though, they did find someone to distribute it in the
- 9:58Walter Reed organization. However, they did edit it to put
- 10:03their name on it, and in doing their edit, they accidentally
- 10:08deleted the copyright notice. So when the movie came out, it
- 10:12immediately entered the public domain.
- 10:15It never got happy rated. It it not like did it enter it
- 10:19quickly? It entered it immediately
- 10:22because there was no copyright notice on it.
- 10:25The so that was like, I thought that came on like many years
- 10:31later. No, that's nuts.
- 10:33No, it happened instantly the second they released it without
- 10:36a copyright notice. It was afraid of anybody to use.
- 10:39That's why you can freely use it however you want.
- 10:43You can upload it to YouTube. I think it probably is on
- 10:46YouTube. Yeah, probably.
- 10:47I think it is. Now I don't.
- 10:49I don't know if that's just for this version though, because I
- 10:53think. Yeah.
- 10:54Yeah, because there's many different versions that were
- 10:59released later on and I think they probably added the
- 11:01copyright back and the rights have just never been purchased.
- 11:07But it was distributed a couple different ways on DVD, but on
- 11:12the reception, The reception was pretty mixed, but slowly became
- 11:17more positive. A lot of the popular outlets at
- 11:21the time put it on their like best movies of the year, best
- 11:25movies of all time. There was a bit of controversy
- 11:30at the theatrical opening because the film rating system
- 11:34wouldn't be in place until the next month.
- 11:37Anybody could buy a ticket, including children who did.
- 11:40And they did not realize what they were getting into.
- 11:44Basically, they just, there was a reporter who just said like,
- 11:48there were a lot of kids and they started out having a good
- 11:51time. But it it's so that sort of it
- 11:55just went quiet after a certain point where the kids were not
- 11:59not having fun anymore. I think a lot of kids were also
- 12:03very disappointed by the ending, which I would understand because
- 12:07I'd never seen the ending before and it's very disappointing.
- 12:13In the many decades since the release, there have been many
- 12:16revisions and remasterings, including a colored version.
- 12:20There have been anniversary editions and even an animated
- 12:25project that was streaming at some festivals or screening at
- 12:29some festivals. It was also released on DVD in
- 12:322010, and in 2015 the negatives were obtained to create a 4K
- 12:37digital restoration, which was released by the Criterion
- 12:40Collection in 2018. And.
- 12:43Finally, on Blu-ray in 2022, it's difficult to know how much
- 12:49the movie made because of it being in the public domain and
- 12:54being released so many times and all the other factors that go
- 12:59along with it. There's some sources that
- 13:01suggest it could be upwards of 30 million, which on $115,000
- 13:07budget, that's a crazy success. But regardless of how much how
- 13:12much money it made, the impact and the legacy it has on horror
- 13:17is way more significant because this kind of started the zombie
- 13:20thing. It's not the first movie to do
- 13:24so, but it's the movie that changed our perception of what
- 13:27the modern zombie is. Because you previously had White
- 13:31Zombie. Prior to Night of Living Dead,
- 13:33you had White Zombie, but that's more in line with magic and I
- 13:39believe voodoo to a degree is what White Zombie was.
- 13:44This though definitely changed the path and created a path
- 13:49forward for what the zombies we now know as zombies are and it
- 13:54it's funny because they don't use the word zombie once in this
- 13:56movie. No, they call them ghouls.
- 14:00Yeah, when they do finally start referring to them to something
- 14:03other than sick people, they call them ghouls.
- 14:07So yeah, it's just beautiful. What are you cracking up for and
- 14:10smiling for over there, Alex? Well while we were watching it I
- 14:15brought up saying I miss slow zombies.
- 14:19Yeah. And then Noah said something.
- 14:24Well, I'm already blowing down his name.
- 14:27Romero, oh, George Romero said. He said that zombies can't run
- 14:32and like they they can't be fast.
- 14:34His this version of zombies, the way he describes it is there's
- 14:40no more room in hell for the spirits to go to, so they stay
- 14:43in the body after you die. Yes.
- 14:47Yeah, as as metal as shit. So his his version is like, and
- 14:51in the movie it kind of seems like there is a bit of a sci-fi
- 14:54bend to it where they're suggesting that maybe radiation
- 14:58caused an outbreak, which I think is is leftover.
- 15:02I think that's leftover from the original versions of this where
- 15:06it comes from aliens. Yeah.
- 15:09But it's an interesting concept and it's one that, like you
- 15:15don't really think of because then it opens like the
- 15:17possibilities of like by the daughter, like, does she die
- 15:21naturally and turn into a ghoul or she turned into a ghoul by
- 15:25somebody else? Right, which is awesome, man.
- 15:29It literally, it's so ahead of its time in the way the movie
- 15:33was thinking and subverting your expectations of what's going to
- 15:38happen. It's it's truly one of those
- 15:41gems that without this existing, we wouldn't have a lot of the
- 15:45horror movies we may have today. And that's the importance of
- 15:49this film, especially anything in the zombies.
- 15:53How did you guys first see this? Oh, Alex, do you want to go
- 15:58first? I don't have a clue.
- 16:00I really don't. I, I'm not even going to lie, I
- 16:03not a freaking clue. Probably late night TV more than
- 16:08likely staying up two in the morning as a 10 year old.
- 16:13Like I not a clue dude. More than likely I saw Night of
- 16:18Living Dead alone at home when I was a kid.
- 16:23Late night TV was probably exactly where I saw it back in
- 16:27the day. TNT would do their monster movie
- 16:31marathons and Sci-fi would do monster movie marathons during
- 16:35Halloween, and I remember seeing a lot of movies that way.
- 16:39That's probably where I first saw Child's Play.
- 16:43That's where I saw Friday, 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and
- 16:47they were a bit more ballsy with their viewings back then.
- 16:49They would show a lot of the shit and they show a lot now,
- 16:52but back then they were like, yeah, whatever, fuck it.
- 16:55Night of Living Dead, though, I remember seeing it as a child,
- 16:59young child, and then I remember going, this isn't scary.
- 17:04There's nothing about this that scares me because it's black and
- 17:06white and it's, it's a slow moving movie.
- 17:11The high notes hit hard though, as an adult and as a young teen
- 17:16because I remember seeing it again when I was dropped out of
- 17:19high school and I had nothing better to do than watch
- 17:22television and movies and play video games and smoke cigarettes
- 17:25all day. And I remember just, I went to
- 17:28FYE as a teenager. I, I walked to the mall, went to
- 17:33FYE and I grabbed like a shitty copy of this, like just a shitty
- 17:39version of the DVD. It was the actual movie.
- 17:42Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it was just, it was just
- 17:44poor. Like, it, it was, I would, I, I
- 17:47would rather just have watched it on film or VHS, it was that
- 17:51bad of a RIP or whatever. And I just remember being
- 17:55floored. I was like, Oh my God, dude,
- 17:56this is what I've been missing. And I was like 13 when I
- 17:59revisited Night of the Living Dead.
- 18:01And then I, I've watched it every, pretty much every
- 18:04Halloween sense, like every like Halloween season, it gets put on
- 18:08the TV upstairs. You know, I'll pass by the room,
- 18:11I'll stop for 5-10 minutes, watch the film.
- 18:14Landon's seen there. Living Dead.
- 18:16Landon and I have bought. We watched it last year.
- 18:20And it's one of those movies that I never seen before.
- 18:23It's like so old that I kind of felt like I had an idea of what
- 18:27it was going to be like and it was not like that.
- 18:30Well, the ending, that ending pissed a lot of people off, but
- 18:35also I like that ending because there's no happy ending.
- 18:38It just shows like they didn't give a fuck.
- 18:41They went oh, there's one boom shoots him in the head.
- 18:44You know what I'm saying? It's just it was no remorse.
- 18:47They just kill this man because they don't know if he's a zombie
- 18:50you. Know, but they they think
- 18:52everybody they see is a ghoul. Yeah.
- 18:56Yeah. You know, and you know, because
- 18:59of this movie, it spawns Dawn and day, day of day of the
- 19:06Living Dead, Dawn of the Living Dead, fucking phenomenal films
- 19:10like and from there it spawns even wackier shit.
- 19:17Tar Man, Alex, which one? What's Tar Man in Return of the
- 19:22Living Dead? That's return.
- 19:24Talking zombie. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:26No, no, that's Ed, right? That's Eddie or Ed.
- 19:31How am I getting my zombies mixed up?
- 19:34Whatever. Tar Man's.
- 19:35Yeah, he's in the he's in the same film as Tar Man, I believe.
- 19:38That's that's Return of the. That's Return of the Living
- 19:40Dead. Dude, I don't remember.
- 19:45I'm telling you right now it's Return of the Living Dead, but
- 19:50it's been so long since I've watched those movies.
- 19:52The living dead. Yeah.
- 19:54Return of the living. Dead.
- 19:54Yep. Yep.
- 19:55Return of the Living Dead. That's not Romero, is it?
- 19:58No. So I think he only did two of
- 20:04the sequels. Dawn and day, right?
- 20:09Think so, yeah. Yeah, which those are fucking
- 20:11incredible. The remakes are fine.
- 20:15Yeah, they are what they are. I mean, he in some of the
- 20:19remakes, he got to explore a little bit more of his original
- 20:24ideas because he had like a little more clout by that point.
- 20:28So I was able to get more money to do it.
- 20:31But I only, I only really looked into the making of the original
- 20:361 because I know that the other ones are much less.
- 20:40Yeah, the other ones are much less renowned.
- 20:45Is this one. I love the other ones dude.
- 20:47I love all. I love the entire series.
- 20:49The I love the entirety of the Living Dead series.
- 20:52It is they they are classics from the top to the bottom.
- 20:55They're amazing films. If you haven't seen them, you
- 20:57should go watch all three of them and then watch Return of
- 21:01the Living Dead 'cause that movie is also a classic.
- 21:05What did you think though, Noah with your first like go around
- 21:08with this film? I thought it was good.
- 21:11It's very old and the time is you really like it?
- 21:15It really shows. Yeah.
- 21:17You know, obviously what they're limited to in terms of effects
- 21:22where like everything is practical because there was no
- 21:25choice. They couldn't do anything
- 21:26different. You know, old movies like people
- 21:30talked a different way back then, but they're still, they're
- 21:33talking about a lot of interesting ideas.
- 21:35Like where they they have a lot of the horror is sort of
- 21:39implied. Like I was talking about the,
- 21:42the radio is explaining what's happening everywhere else and
- 21:46the horror kind of comes from that while you're seeing our
- 21:49character having to like deal with the immediate like this is
- 21:53what he's hearing. Like, and he even says something
- 21:56to that point, like later on where they're trying to figure
- 21:58out how many there are. And he was the what the, the one
- 22:02guy who was in the basement, he was saying like there could be
- 22:0520 or there could be 500. And he's basically like, well,
- 22:07if there's 500 then we're fucked.
- 22:09Then there's nothing we can do 5. 100 of them, which is the
- 22:14movie, becomes I'm not going in that cellar.
- 22:16Yeah, get in the cellar. I won't do.
- 22:18It get in the cellar get. In the cellar and it's like, God
- 22:21damn it. I mean, we'd also be remiss if
- 22:24we didn't say the classic that come on, talk at you, Baba Raw.
- 22:29Such a classic, almost. Did it almost the entire time
- 22:33without saying it. I can't do it.
- 22:36How do you want me? What song?
- 22:39Oh, that's a Beneath the Sky song too.
- 22:41Yeah, they open up with the sample that they.
- 22:45Do whatever you want. It's in the public domain.
- 22:48Do whatever you want with this. You could you could put this
- 22:50entire movie onto a vinyl and then tell people to soundtrack.
- 22:53That's fine. Yep, it's fucking.
- 22:56Crazy, I thought the the sound the soundtrack was oppressively
- 22:59loud but it has that thing that like old movies did where it's
- 23:03like 5 minutes of dialogue and then 5 minutes of of speechless
- 23:09action or speechless like movement with like really loud.
- 23:14Music. Crickets.
- 23:16Well then. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:19With the music. Kind of for a while.
- 23:20Sells some of the horror. Oh yeah, it does.
- 23:25I mean the music and the sound too.
- 23:27There's some interesting like sound there where they like the
- 23:31when he walks out of the house and Ben like walks out of the
- 23:33house the first time you would just hear like the nature sounds
- 23:37and then it cuts to the field and there's like 10 people just
- 23:41slowly walking towards him. Yeah.
- 23:44It can be a big time It follows vibe.
- 23:49Yeah, yeah. I mean, like I said, this
- 23:51movie's responsible for a lot of what we have today, even still
- 23:54echoes, right? Like obviously for you Daryl
- 23:58Dixon fans, you wouldn't have Daryl Dixon without this.
- 24:02So, you know, like it because of Romero and his like just sheer
- 24:07willpower and brilliance to do what he wanted.
- 24:10You know, this is, it's, it's an, it's an incredible feat
- 24:15that, and I'm glad this movie exists, man, 'cause I, it's
- 24:19something I love and hold near and dear to my heart.
- 24:22As somebody who has a Romero zombie on his arm, I fucking
- 24:27love this film. Love it, love it.
- 24:30Good pick. No one very good.
- 24:32Pick everyone for Halloween. This is the perfect episode for
- 24:37Halloween, dude. You haven't seen it.
- 24:39It's a good one to put on. We got the friends over, you
- 24:41know, have a good, have a good guffaw.
- 24:44Guffaws all around. We're loving, we're loving some
- 24:471960s vocal patterns. I don't know what it was, dude.
- 24:51People talk. People talk differently back
- 24:53then. I don't know if they did it on
- 24:54purpose. They were trying to sound more
- 24:56proper, but there's something about that.
- 24:58There's a certain there's a certain charm to it.
- 25:01But if we're doing rankings, I hate it.
- 25:03Yeah. It it everybody sounds like they
- 25:06were doing an old timey broadcast on a radio, except
- 25:10they were doing it as a current, all the time radio broadcast.
- 25:13Yeah. And all the time felt people
- 25:15were a little more deliberate with their words.
- 25:17There was. There's no umming and uhing and
- 25:19liking that Then, you know, window.
- 25:22Nobody comes. I've got to go to the window.
- 25:24Yeah, go ahead, get over to the window.
- 25:27That's also, that's also like that comes from being less
- 25:32removed from immigrant families. Like people had different
- 25:36accents back then 'cause they were, they still had their
- 25:39parents accent. Yeah.
- 25:40Or their grandparents accent 'cause you were a little more.
- 25:44Yeah. That's and like what we have now
- 25:48is generations of people removed from those accents.
- 25:52That's boring. Actually, the more you think
- 25:54about it, it's kind of fucked up and sad.
- 25:55Yeah, like, I mean, that's the reason why.
- 25:59That's why, like, you go back into older movies and you see
- 26:02like, well, these people are supposed to be American, but
- 26:04that guy's talking like somewhat Irish.
- 26:07Yeah. Because, like the generation
- 26:10before him, came from Ireland. That's crazy.
- 26:14Just a little, just a little. Yeah, just a little.
- 26:16You know, when you when you notice that, that's sort of it,
- 26:20it really puts it into perspective how like different
- 26:22the culture was even just to how they how they spoke.
- 26:27I wish cigarettes. Blowing my mind.
- 26:29Yeah. Fuck it, don't.
- 26:30Don't. Cigarettes rule, dude.
- 26:33Did everybody smoking cigarettes everywhere all the time?
- 26:37No, it's, it's a lot of these nowadays, bro, Yeah.
- 26:41But no, I mean in the movie, like he's smoking cigarettes in
- 26:43the house, he's smoking cigarettes at the cemetery.
- 26:46Everybody. Cigarettes in the basement.
- 26:48Yeah, what are you doing in this instance if someone has a pack
- 26:51of smokes there and you're. If there's 200 zombies outside I
- 26:54think I'll think I'll try it. Yeah, I think you'll like it.
- 26:58I think you should like it. I.
- 27:00Don't think it'll matter if I like it.
- 27:01Exactly. You better finish it.
- 27:03Smoke it to the butt. But.
- 27:05I would do it in in one RIP if that's even possible.
- 27:09I've seen people do it in three. That's crazy.
- 27:13I've watched this dude turn green, we bet he couldn't do it
- 27:17and he invited three big puffs in a row.
- 27:21Turned green and I felt really bad.
- 27:23He looked like a zombie. So you were talking about the
- 27:24ratings though? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:27If we're going to give it a rating, I'm, I love that natural
- 27:31segue. I'm going to, I would give it a
- 27:33four out of five, being above average.
- 27:37When you kind of take it for what it is, it's really, it's
- 27:40very dated, very old. But for the legacy it has and
- 27:45for kind of very, very much like being partially responsible for
- 27:51zombie movies in general, then I think it would deserve that.
- 27:56What about you? You, you want to go or me, Alex?
- 28:00No, go. Go for it.
- 28:02This gets a perfect five out of five for me.
- 28:05This is the foundation. This, this, this, this is the
- 28:09the groundwork and the foundational blocks to the
- 28:12modern day zombie films we have today and comic books, video
- 28:16games you wouldn't have left for dead.
- 28:18You know, and I know that people have altered it.
- 28:20Zombies can run. They can be different creatures
- 28:24to a degree, like you got smokers and bloaters and you
- 28:27know, shit like that. But because of Romero's vision
- 28:32and because of how he where he took it in the movies to follow,
- 28:37especially this film, we have the blocks laid out in front of
- 28:41us for the modern day horror film, for the modern day zombie
- 28:44film. And it was a ballsy endeavor
- 28:48which he took with his friends and people who trusted him.
- 28:50And it panned out in the end. And it may have taken a while
- 28:54for people to see the vision, but when they did, they
- 28:56realized, OK, fuck, this is cinema now.
- 29:01And that's important. Same with Alfred Hitchcock.
- 29:04You know, you can look at the Dahmer show or game show and
- 29:09they show a little bit of Hitchcock and making Psycho the.
- 29:12Power of the moving image. Oh, God.
- 29:15But that is, that is true. It was people like Hitchcock, it
- 29:18was people like Romero and so on and so forth who really pushed
- 29:22this forward. And people love zombies and I.
- 29:26Love zombies so. Five out of five, five out of
- 29:34five. Five out of five and pretty much
- 29:39what Nick said. This movie, like this movie, is
- 29:43the Black Sabbath. Of that's an horror.
- 29:48Movies. That's great.
- 29:51You know, same type shit. We wouldn't have half the stuff
- 29:56we watch if it wasn't for this movie.
- 29:58It's a classic. Watch it every Halloween.
- 30:00Every year. Comes on at least once or twice.
- 30:04Yeah, and. Yeah, 5 out of five.
- 30:06Everyone should watch this. If you haven't.
- 30:08It's everywhere. Go watch it.
- 30:10Yes, it should be everywhere. I don't really, I don't know
- 30:12where it is, but I I mean, I know where it definitely is.
