- 0:18Speaker 1: on the road again, so we're basically doing this podcast
- 0:22Speaker 1: in separate areas of the nation.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Wah wah, wah, not so fun. Not so fun, babe,
- 0:30Speaker 2: when you're not here sitting next to me. But but
- 0:33Speaker 2: I will tell you and I have to just kick
- 0:35Speaker 2: it off because the excitement is overwhelming in all the
- 0:38Speaker 2: podcasts and I don't know how many, so twenty something.
- 0:42Speaker 2: This is by far our biggest guest in the history
- 0:45Speaker 2: of our podcast, the biggest movie star we have ever
- 0:50Speaker 2: had come through these doors.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And I'm not a legend a legend.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Tell him, baby, keep it, keep pumping it up before
- 0:57Speaker 2: we tell a movie.
- 0:57Speaker 1: He's an icon. He's a freaking icon. I mean, like,
- 1:00Speaker 1: no matter when you were born, how old you are,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know who this dude is.
- 1:06Speaker 2: The biggest, the biggest, who has more successful franchises, more
- 1:11Speaker 2: over two point seven billion lifetime box office. We have
- 1:16Speaker 2: none other coming on today, for give them Lalla with Randall.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Who would have ever thought Sylvester Salone aka Rocky.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Balboa do.
- 1:34Speaker 4: It's too good?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Too good?
- 1:36Speaker 1: When you told me, when you told me that he
- 1:38Speaker 1: committed and he was down to do the podcast, I
- 1:41Speaker 1: won't lie Randall. I was like, omg, rand You're gonna
- 1:45Speaker 1: have to like carry this. I'm freaking out. I'm nervous,
- 1:48Speaker 1: like I only talk to Brav celebrity freaking out.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Okay, first of all, not true, but but I know
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're freaking out because you actually called me, and I'm
- 1:59Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna look at out of the bag. You
- 2:00Speaker 2: called me yesterday and said, Babe, I just let you
- 2:03Speaker 2: know something. When Sylve Salona is on, I'm gonna just
- 2:07Speaker 2: kind of let you lead the way. First of all,
- 2:09Speaker 2: I haven't led the way in this relationship in four years,
- 2:11Speaker 2: so I don't know what you're talking about. But anyway,
- 2:13Speaker 2: I knew you.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think you should take advantage of this moment.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I want to tell you something really interesting. I was
- 2:19Speaker 2: talking to I call him Sly, So I was talking
- 2:21Speaker 2: to Sly because I've done movies with him. I was
- 2:24Speaker 2: talking to Slide earlier today and I didn't know this,
- 2:27Speaker 2: but he has never done a podcast before, so this
- 2:30Speaker 2: is his first podcast ever. So I am blown away
- 2:35Speaker 2: by how kind he is being to do this for us.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And can I tell you something that you probably won't
- 2:41Speaker 1: care about But.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I was trolling the Gram. No problem trolling, No you won't.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I was trolling the Gram and I was looking at
- 2:50Speaker 1: this girl's page. Her name is Brielle Beerman. She's Kim
- 2:55Speaker 1: Zolciak Berman's daughter, right, Okay, Kim Zolciak is a Brava lever.
- 3:00Speaker 1: She was on Housewives of Atlanta. So I'm looking at
- 3:03Speaker 1: Brielle's page and she's chilling at Catch with Sistine Stallone.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They're homies. So I think Fly may be a little
- 3:12Speaker 1: closer to the Bravo Sam.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Than he even knows, than he even knows exactly. Yes, well,
- 3:17Speaker 2: let me tell you that is great tea. I've learned
- 3:19Speaker 2: that word so I can own it. Producer Tim sitting here, Tim,
- 3:24Speaker 2: I mean, did you ever think in our entire old
- 3:27Speaker 2: age that would ever be dropping the word tea?
- 3:29Speaker 5: I still haven't dropped it. It just doesn't like feel
- 3:32Speaker 5: good coming out of my mouth.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Tim is going to drop it soon. I have a
- 3:36Speaker 1: feeling he's going to be. I mean, you guys don't
- 3:40Speaker 1: need to spill the tea. You just need to sip
- 3:42Speaker 1: up on, you know, my English breakfast.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Okay, this is just going tound the level and the
- 3:47Speaker 2: funny thing is Tim's wife is English, so the only
- 3:50Speaker 2: tea he knows about is drinking it at high noon
- 3:53Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 3:53Speaker 3: He drinks with your pinkies.
- 3:55Speaker 5: Up the afternoon tea hour.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, I'm very excited, you know. Listen, I started
- 4:01Speaker 2: working with Sly. My partner Georgia, and I started working
- 4:04Speaker 2: with Sly many years ago, and it's just such an
- 4:07Speaker 2: honor he is even when I walk onto the set.
- 4:10Speaker 2: And I'm not going to tell him this to his
- 4:11Speaker 2: face because I'm too embarrassed, but he'll hear this, I'm
- 4:13Speaker 2: sure now. But every time I meet with him on
- 4:17Speaker 2: a movie, discuss a script, go to his house to
- 4:20Speaker 2: talk about a film, or walk onto the set and
- 4:22Speaker 2: see him, it's still like, holy shit, it's Sylvester Stallone.
- 4:27Speaker 2: So I'm never gonna say that and don't wrap me out,
- 4:29Speaker 2: but it's pretty exciting and I'm pretty uh. I'm a
- 4:33Speaker 2: little nervous now, to be honest, I've been nervous.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Randall freaking not like he's a legend. And I'm not kidding,
- 4:42Speaker 1: like if I fall silent, know that I'm still breathing.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I'm just trying to regain my composure.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I'm with you. I'm with you, and and
- 4:53Speaker 2: we'll talk about Sistine when we get Sly on the phone.
- 4:55Speaker 2: One of his daughters, who is amazing and an actress
- 4:59Speaker 2: and who actually he was in my first movie that
- 5:02Speaker 2: I directed, Midnight in Switchcrass. So that's a really cool thing.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And I'll tell Sly when we get on, I'll tell
- 5:08Speaker 2: that story about when he called me. I'll never forget
- 5:10Speaker 2: that because I didn't even call Sly to ask his
- 5:14Speaker 2: permission to put his daughter into the movie. His age.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Her agent called me then said are you open to
- 5:20Speaker 2: assisting Saloon? And we're like, of course. And we looked
- 5:22Speaker 2: at her tape and she auditioned, she read, and we
- 5:25Speaker 2: watched the tape and we cast her and she flew out.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I never had a conversation with Sly. I think I
- 5:30Speaker 2: was too scared. I thought it would just be like,
- 5:32Speaker 2: you know, fuck off, my daughter's not doing your movie.
- 5:34Speaker 2: But but it wasn't like that. It was the opposite.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And she got out there and she was a total pro.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And clearly the lineage you know, lives on through her.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So that's gonna be a fun thing. So I'm really
- 5:46Speaker 2: pumped up. I don't even know where to go. So
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm you know, and your fans someone say I talk
- 5:50Speaker 2: too much, I talk over you. So I'm gonna for
- 5:53Speaker 2: three minutes, I'm gonna shut up, and I want you
- 5:56Speaker 2: law to run this podcast so that I could, so
- 6:00Speaker 2: I could prove that I could be quiet. Go go
- 6:03Speaker 2: lock go.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Okay, So let's we're gonna get down on into the
- 6:08Speaker 1: ditty gritty Randall. You're gonna have to not be totally
- 6:10Speaker 1: silent because we're gonna go there right now with how
- 6:15Speaker 1: my mother thinks can we go there?
- 6:19Speaker 2: Oh, we can go there, but I mean I still
- 6:21Speaker 2: want to have a future mother in law.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So no, I know, okay, Randall. And my mom, my
- 6:27Speaker 1: mom does this thing or like she she's very giving.
- 6:32Speaker 1: She you know, she she works for the Humane Society
- 6:35Speaker 1: of Utah. Before that she was working with special needs.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Like she's just a giver. Yeah, yes, she means Society
- 6:42Speaker 1: of Utah. If you don't know where to donate your money,
- 6:45Speaker 1: that's where you should give it to. And so my
- 6:49Speaker 1: mom recently feels that she has the kindest heart because
- 6:53Speaker 1: she volunteers things. But she's volunteering my services.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Now, people don't know your mom. Your mom I will
- 7:04Speaker 2: say it kindly because I need you on my corner,
- 7:06Speaker 2: but your mom likes to step and volunteer you without
- 7:10Speaker 2: your permission.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Right, So yes, So my friend was getting married and random.
- 7:16Speaker 2: And my god, you're doing that. Oh my god, real quick,
- 7:21Speaker 2: I'm going to shut up, but I just you have
- 7:23Speaker 2: big ball, so I'm gonna be quick. Listen, just listen.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Okay, So Rand and I bought these speakers. They were
- 7:29Speaker 1: like one hundred bucks each. We brought to for the backyard. Right, Okay,
- 7:33Speaker 1: So my friend's getting married and my mom then says
- 7:36Speaker 1: like she calls me and she's like, hey, they're they're
- 7:39Speaker 1: going to still get married. It was like COVID, they're
- 7:41Speaker 1: going to get married, like outside, it's going to be amazing.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I was thinking that you could bring your speakers, and
- 7:47Speaker 1: when I told her that's not happening. I am not
- 7:49Speaker 1: hauling speakers onto a freaking plane.
- 7:53Speaker 4: These are not small speakers. They're huge.
- 7:55Speaker 1: When I shut her down, which when I shut her down,
- 7:58Speaker 1: she gets all moody, and so I was like, it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: not happening, mom, and she then tells me, she goes,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm just nicer than you are, Like, I just like
- 8:07Speaker 1: to help people. I'm like, bro, No, this isn't you
- 8:12Speaker 1: helping anybody. This is you volunteering me to help someone,
- 8:17Speaker 1: like you bring speakers or you go to target and
- 8:20Speaker 1: buy speakers.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Like what the fuck?
- 8:22Speaker 3: Ma?
- 8:22Speaker 2: No, not only did no? You shut her down and
- 8:25Speaker 2: I said, but don't worry, she's coming again for a
- 8:27Speaker 2: second ask and then you said, Mom, it's not happening.
- 8:31Speaker 2: These speakers aren't leading.
- 8:32Speaker 1: No, Randall, Remember I said to you after we had
- 8:35Speaker 1: the conversation, I was like, she's gonna hit me back
- 8:37Speaker 1: and say I'll carry the speakers plane.
- 8:40Speaker 2: And she did, Yeah she did. I mean I said
- 8:43Speaker 2: to her. I made a joke when we were in
- 8:44Speaker 2: Florida last week. I said, Lisa, why don't you just
- 8:46Speaker 2: dig up our pool and fly it off to Texas
- 8:49Speaker 2: and you could put the pool in the backyard.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Dude, the woman thinks she's mother Teresa, but she's like
- 8:53Speaker 1: volunteering me to like be the mother.
- 8:56Speaker 5: The next time somebody asked me to like help them move,
- 8:58Speaker 5: I'm gonna be like, oh, yeah, I know, my wife
- 9:00Speaker 5: will go do that for you.
- 9:02Speaker 3: You're a yeah.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And then Tim, when your wife says no, you can
- 9:05Speaker 1: tell her. I'm just nicer to you.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'm so much more generous than you.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Is gonna slaughter us?
- 9:14Speaker 2: No, not me, not me. I want to tell you, Lisa,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I am the biggest supporter of the Man City if
- 9:20Speaker 2: you tell you know that, financially and emotionally. So please
- 9:23Speaker 2: go for your daughter on this one. I had nothing
- 9:24Speaker 2: to do with this story.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I just had to share that story because it was epic.
- 9:28Speaker 2: All right, let me tell you something, great job. Your
- 9:32Speaker 2: fans cannot get mad at me now for cutting you off.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And I shut up for two minutes and now I'm
- 9:38Speaker 2: ready to talk because I don't have a platform to talk.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I am not on a TV show. I'm just Randall
- 9:44Speaker 2: the movie producer.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I'm so I miss you so bad.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I miss you too, baby.
- 9:49Speaker 3: All right, let's let's sly on this week.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Let's go to break. Let's go to break, take a
- 9:52Speaker 2: quick break, and we're gonna come back with Rocky Balboa.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And fast infamous legend.
- 10:05Speaker 3: I sound like.
- 10:10Speaker 6: You know you're just like I was telling brand no matter.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Who you are, when you were born, where you come from,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know liat And so I'm I'm shooting bricks the fact.
- 10:20Speaker 3: That we have you on Oh well, vice versa. I'm
- 10:25Speaker 3: nervous around you guys.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Oh come on, Oh that's sweet.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Know you guys just whose talent here? Your show is fantastic.
- 10:34Speaker 3: You know, it's not easy to do what you do,
- 10:36Speaker 3: so I'm uh, I'll be as cooperative as I can.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Thank you. And I got to tell you something. I
- 10:43Speaker 2: you know, when we started the slide, you know, we
- 10:45Speaker 2: got together Lala and I to do this and I've
- 10:47Speaker 2: never been in front of the camera, and nor does
- 10:48Speaker 2: anybody want to see my face in front of the camera.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But anyway, this has been a lot of fun and honestly,
- 10:55Speaker 2: first of all, thank you for doing this. You're obviously
- 10:57Speaker 2: the biggest we've ever had. I just want to I
- 11:02Speaker 2: just want to jump in real quick, and I want
- 11:04Speaker 2: to tell people because I don't know if everybody knows this,
- 11:06Speaker 2: but I want to get into the Rocky story, which
- 11:08Speaker 2: I know a little bit about. You wrote Rocky in
- 11:11Speaker 2: nineteen seventy five at age twenty nine, over the course
- 11:14Speaker 2: of three days, one of the most legendary franchises that
- 11:18Speaker 2: you went on to be nominated for three Oscars. You
- 11:21Speaker 2: want to go to globe. You know, it's unbelievable. Can
- 11:26Speaker 2: you just share kind of how it started for you
- 11:30Speaker 2: to become you know who you are?
- 11:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Well, I was a knock around actor in New York
- 11:35Speaker 3: and I wasn't getting anywhere because people thought I had
- 11:39Speaker 3: an affectation with my voice. It was very, very deep,
- 11:43Speaker 3: and I slurred a great deal because of an accident
- 11:47Speaker 3: I had during birth, which is a four step accident
- 11:51Speaker 3: that sort of numbed my vocal cord. So no matter what,
- 11:55Speaker 3: I sound like, I'm half underwater.
- 11:59Speaker 2: So wow, I didn't know that.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Inside.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I sound to me inside, I sound like
- 12:06Speaker 3: you know, Daniel day Lewis or I found you know,
- 12:08Speaker 3: But when it comes out, I sound like like a.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Mafia pole bearer. You know what I Mean's like, what
- 12:15Speaker 4: are you doing? How are you doing? I s hot?
- 12:20Speaker 3: Well, you know the thing is, I finally realized that
- 12:23Speaker 3: I'm never going to get cast in anything unless perhaps
- 12:27Speaker 3: I sort of do it myself.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I realized that jigger was up.
- 12:30Speaker 3: In nineteen seventy when I couldn't even get an extra
- 12:33Speaker 3: part and The Godfather, I went, I'll look, I'll be
- 12:36Speaker 3: in the wedding scene. I said, I'll stand behind the
- 12:38Speaker 3: cake anything. I said, wow, this is really not looking good.
- 12:43Speaker 3: So that's when I started to write, and I had
- 12:45Speaker 3: never written before, but I took a job as an
- 12:49Speaker 3: usher at night, literally to just record.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I had a little recorder, you know, a movie.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Like mash and other vehicles. And I go home and
- 12:58Speaker 3: I listened to the dialogue, and then I started to
- 13:01Speaker 3: write new dialogue for the same movie, kind of like
- 13:04Speaker 3: as an exercise. Well, anyway, years move on, nothing happens,
- 13:09Speaker 3: and I go to Hollywood and I get some half
- 13:14Speaker 3: baked agent and I just have an open audition. I
- 13:18Speaker 3: don't even know how I got it. I think a
- 13:20Speaker 3: guy named Gene Kirk whod got it for me for
- 13:22Speaker 3: shot off in Winkler. And they didn't want to really
- 13:25Speaker 3: see me, but I think it was a favor. Everyone
- 13:28Speaker 3: was looking at their cuff lanes. I could watch and
- 13:31Speaker 3: you know that thing, it's the truth. So they said, oh,
- 13:34Speaker 3: you know, thanks for coming. I go thanks, and on
- 13:38Speaker 3: the way out, for some reason, I said, I don't
- 13:40Speaker 3: know if it matters, but I write a little bit
- 13:43Speaker 3: and they go, okay, sure, well I haven't got anything,
- 13:45Speaker 3: just let me know, and that's it. So wow, the
- 13:50Speaker 3: door's open. But I don't have anything. And that's when
- 13:53Speaker 3: I went home and formulated Rocky. Right away, I said,
- 13:56Speaker 3: I need something that will late to everybody, but also
- 14:02Speaker 3: it's perfect for who I am, my slurry voice, the
- 14:06Speaker 3: way I look, the way I sound. And that's when
- 14:09Speaker 3: I came up with this half baked idea of Rocky.
- 14:13Speaker 3: And I started to borrow from other films like On
- 14:16Speaker 3: the Waterfront, Mean Streets, this and that, that kind of
- 14:19Speaker 3: I said, you know, that kind of vibe sort of works,
- 14:21Speaker 3: and I just sat down. I started right and write
- 14:23Speaker 3: and write, and about three and a half days later,
- 14:26Speaker 3: I had about a ninety five page script. I'm not
- 14:29Speaker 3: saying it was you know probably you know Randall, maybe
- 14:33Speaker 3: twenty percent was good. But it was done.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Wow, done, You did that in three days.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Yeah, three and a half days. That's But then again,
- 14:41Speaker 3: it wasn't. It wasn't.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It wasn't the shooting script, but it was.
- 14:44Speaker 3: No, No, it wasn't. But see, I'm a big believer that, uh,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I'd rather get something done and if it's a little sloppy,
- 14:51Speaker 3: I can fix it. The mean thing is, while you're
- 14:53Speaker 3: in that mood, while you're in that stiver, go for
- 14:57Speaker 3: it and repair it later rather than Yeah, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 3: some some actors are painters will spend a year on something.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I'm going, how do you stay passionate for a year?
- 15:09Speaker 3: You don't know? You don't. Then it becomes clinical, and
- 15:12Speaker 3: then you become a sort of of you get, you
- 15:16Speaker 3: start to get, You doubt yourself, you question yourself.
- 15:18Speaker 4: It's this page good? Is that page good?
- 15:20Speaker 3: So I'm a believer in just' just jumping head first
- 15:23Speaker 3: into something and I'll fix the mistakes later. I'll get
- 15:27Speaker 3: I'll get stitched up later, I'll put my arm in
- 15:29Speaker 3: a cast later. But at least it's done.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Right right now. What happens after after this?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Because I walk in there. I walk in there and
- 15:38Speaker 3: I say, here's the screenplay, and they went, not bad,
- 15:42Speaker 3: not bad, not bad. We'd like to you know, we'll
- 15:47Speaker 3: run with it.
- 15:47Speaker 4: This.
- 15:48Speaker 3: This is not a bad story. It's kind of derivative.
- 15:50Speaker 3: But and I said, well, I want to be in and.
- 15:52Speaker 2: They go, how is that really?
- 15:57Speaker 3: Why don't you try comedy?
- 15:59Speaker 4: Really? Like?
- 16:01Speaker 3: Who knows you? And they were pretty blunt. They said,
- 16:06Speaker 3: tell you the truth. You have a speech impediment.
- 16:08Speaker 2: We don't.
- 16:09Speaker 3: We're going to tell you right now. It's hard to
- 16:10Speaker 3: understand you. So I go, he's punchy anyway, So what
- 16:16Speaker 3: and they go they didn't think that was funny. So
- 16:19Speaker 3: they offered a certain amount of money, and I was broke.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I mean when I tell you it was you know,
- 16:25Speaker 3: it's one of those things where you got a crossroad guys, and.
- 16:27Speaker 4: You go, this is it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You either take a little bit of money now or you.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Just go all in. Wow.
- 16:35Speaker 3: So it went to twenty grand was the Writer's Guild minimum,
- 16:39Speaker 3: and then I said no. They were kind of flabber astid. Anyway,
- 16:43Speaker 3: cut to a long story short. They said, look, we
- 16:46Speaker 3: got guys like Burt Reynolds and Ryan on the Robert Redford,
- 16:50Speaker 3: Jimmy Kahn. There was that all these physical types back then. Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 3: there was a real plethora. There was an abundance of
- 16:56Speaker 3: them as opposed to today. And they said, why don't
- 17:00Speaker 3: you just take one hundred grand? So I went home
- 17:04Speaker 3: to my wife, said one hundred grand is she like
- 17:05Speaker 3: almost got.
- 17:06Speaker 4: A nose bleacher cool.
- 17:09Speaker 3: But that's gonna be gone and we're gonna be here,
- 17:13Speaker 3: and I'm going.
- 17:14Speaker 4: To be really bitter, really bitter.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I just know I'm gonna be I just don't have
- 17:20Speaker 3: the mentality to realize. I sold out and if the
- 17:24Speaker 3: movie God Forbid became a hit, then I'm going to
- 17:27Speaker 3: be useless to you, to me, to society.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I just know it.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I'm just gonna be a shell of a man.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I just want to say when things like the fact
- 17:34Speaker 2: that you had the foresight or you know, to be
- 17:37Speaker 2: able to see that, because ninety nine percent of the
- 17:40Speaker 2: world that kind of money back then would be half
- 17:43Speaker 2: a million dollars today and if you're broke, ninety nine
- 17:46Speaker 2: percent of the world's taking that deal. So the fact
- 17:49Speaker 2: that you believed in yourself on the long play is
- 17:53Speaker 2: is unbelievable. I mean, it's such a lesson there, you know.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But but okay, so now what happens.
- 17:57Speaker 4: So it goes up.
- 17:58Speaker 3: It goes up to two hundred and now my agent
- 18:02Speaker 3: is going, seriously, we're sorry, there's a lot of money.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I said, but it's not I'm telling you. I can't
- 18:11Speaker 3: ever live with myself if I'm telling you. And then
- 18:15Speaker 3: it went to three hundred and sixty thousand dollars. Now
- 18:18Speaker 3: that that's this is now the studio is going, what
- 18:21Speaker 3: is this like a game? He's not worth it, This
- 18:23Speaker 3: movie isn't worth it. So they're getting very angry at
- 18:26Speaker 3: the producers. Everyone hates everybody. Now so finally, finally they go,
- 18:33Speaker 3: you know what we're gonna We'll do this movie. We'll
- 18:37Speaker 3: pay him twenty grand. He gets nothing. He gets three
- 18:40Speaker 3: hundred and sixty three hundred and sixty dollars a week
- 18:43Speaker 3: before taxes, and after five days, if we don't like him,
- 18:47Speaker 3: we're firing him. And they didn't even know who I was.
- 18:51Speaker 3: They they go, who is Sta Loone? Can we see
- 18:54Speaker 3: a picture of him? So what they did is they
- 18:56Speaker 3: send over the a print of or It's a Flat
- 19:00Speaker 3: Bush where I played this like two hundred and twenty
- 19:03Speaker 3: pounds Greaseball. But the indeed in it was movie star handsome.
- 19:08Speaker 3: His name was Perry King. He looked like Brad Pitt,
- 19:11Speaker 3: clefting the chin, blue eyes, blonde hair, as waspy and big,
- 19:16Speaker 3: you know, truly handsome. So they go, oh, we could
- 19:21Speaker 3: do something with that guy. And then he said, okay,
- 19:25Speaker 3: we'll greenlight the movie. They think I'm the blonde with
- 19:28Speaker 3: the blue eyes. And then when they finally dawned on them,
- 19:32Speaker 3: the thug looking out with the crooked mouth and the brown.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Eyes, it was too late.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Seriously, they said, okay, we'll try it for five days.
- 19:41Speaker 3: If we hate him, we're canceling the movie because they
- 19:45Speaker 3: didn't want to make it.
- 19:46Speaker 4: They were only.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Making this literally as a second billing at a drive in.
- 19:51Speaker 3: This was never meant to be released. I couldn't believe it,
- 19:55Speaker 3: but it's true.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 19:57Speaker 3: So I remember the first day in the said, I went, god,
- 20:00Speaker 3: this is it? Go for my friend. And I remember
- 20:04Speaker 3: the day where I'm supposed to shake down it's it's
- 20:08Speaker 3: the first scene on the docks where I go and
- 20:10Speaker 3: I'm a loan shark clock and I go over to
- 20:13Speaker 3: the guy, Hey, you know you owe me one hundred
- 20:15Speaker 3: and fifty dollars. You can pay mister guys because I
- 20:17Speaker 3: don't have it.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I go take my coat. I don't want your coat.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Come on, break my thumbs. Don't think it.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I said, look, I won't break your thumbs.
- 20:25Speaker 4: And you see that. Rocky is like really yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 3: He's he can't even do anything well, and the studio went,
- 20:34Speaker 3: you know this, my this is kind of interesting, you know.
- 20:37Speaker 3: And that was the beginning. So I'm just a compositive
- 20:42Speaker 3: errors that right now.
- 20:45Speaker 2: That is that is a very humble statement. I have
- 20:47Speaker 2: a question when you were done with Rocky, when did
- 20:51Speaker 2: it happen like where you where it became Rocky. You know, like,
- 20:55Speaker 2: when was that moment where you knew, wow, everything had changed?
- 20:59Speaker 4: Right?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 3: They had a screening at mgym and made tell.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Me about it.
- 21:08Speaker 3: So I got there like literally as the movie ended,
- 21:13Speaker 3: and I was standing there just looking at people coming
- 21:16Speaker 3: up and Frank Sinatra. I went, wow, he's here, damn.
- 21:21Speaker 3: And he started to go buy me. He walked past,
- 21:25Speaker 3: and I remember he pulled out a camel and I'll
- 21:28Speaker 3: never get in a camel lighter and I had a
- 21:30Speaker 3: lighter or camels, and he started tapping the.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Cigarette on the lighter.
- 21:35Speaker 3: He looked up because, hey, you're the wise guy in
- 21:39Speaker 3: the film. You know what, You're not going to be
- 21:43Speaker 3: in anyone's rearview mirror for long. Wow, come on, you're
- 21:48Speaker 3: not going to be in anyone's rearview mirror for long.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And Freank Sinatra for real. And then a couple of
- 21:56Speaker 3: years later I met him and I reminded him my bag.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Of course, He's like, who are you at the moment
- 22:05Speaker 3: and see, I said, damn, And it's just sorted happening.
- 22:08Speaker 3: It was him and a couple like Diana's shore. Then
- 22:11Speaker 3: another person came out, Anthony Anthony Hopkins and damn, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 3: all these people. So that's when I realized something was happening.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Then then about a week later, they had a screen
- 22:25Speaker 3: at the Writers Director's Guild and everything went wrong. No
- 22:29Speaker 3: one left, no one applauded. When the movie was over,
- 22:32Speaker 3: everyone left and went, holy, well this is really bad.
- 22:37Speaker 3: And I went into major depression. So as I was
- 22:41Speaker 3: going down the escalator, uh to leave in complete silence.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I mean, it was like pitiful. So I look up
- 22:50Speaker 3: and there's everyone waiting in the lobby, like these are
- 22:54Speaker 3: hardcore directors, you know, and you know everyone Hollywood runs
- 22:57Speaker 3: on the three ages. You know, Hollywood hates happiness. That's it,
- 23:04Speaker 3: it is, Hollywood hates happiness.
- 23:05Speaker 4: And you know you're you're like.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Because if that guy succeeds, that means you might not.
- 23:12Speaker 3: So it's a really tough, tough, tough crowd, very clinical crowd.
- 23:16Speaker 3: And when they were down there and they started a flooding,
- 23:19Speaker 3: and damn, I'm gonna be able to buy a house.
- 23:23Speaker 4: I'm going to pay for food, I could get my
- 23:25Speaker 4: GOLG back.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I mean, all these things started to happen. And so
- 23:30Speaker 3: it was when people ask me, like, how do you
- 23:32Speaker 3: do it? I don't know, n No, it's it's just
- 23:37Speaker 3: a it's just a confluence of so many different things
- 23:43Speaker 3: happening that there is there's no formula, as you know,
- 23:46Speaker 3: it's the things that you think will never work. If
- 23:49Speaker 3: I tried to pitch Rocky today, let's say I was
- 23:51Speaker 3: a nobody, that movie would never be made ever in
- 23:55Speaker 3: a million years.
- 23:56Speaker 2: It was time.
- 23:56Speaker 3: It's a matter of timing this the country that time.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I mean every film I was up against, like all
- 24:03Speaker 3: the President's men, dealing with Watergate, Taxi driver, dealing with
- 24:08Speaker 3: you know, nihilism and politics, Bound for Gloria again politics,
- 24:13Speaker 3: and I'm going and then Rocky, the goofy guy who
- 24:16Speaker 3: just wants to fall in love and be happy that it.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Is a love story, I mean at its core, and
- 24:23Speaker 2: the Underdogs is seeding right, I mean, if you're looking.
- 24:26Speaker 4: At it's a love story.
- 24:27Speaker 3: And he happens to be a boxer, and not a
- 24:29Speaker 3: very good one. He's a terrible fighter, but he really
- 24:35Speaker 3: And I said, like, I never put it in the screenplay,
- 24:38Speaker 3: but I wanted to because I'm no great fighter. I
- 24:41Speaker 3: fight great fighters, but I ain't nothing great about me
- 24:44Speaker 3: except I don't want to lose.
- 24:46Speaker 4: That's it.
- 24:47Speaker 3: And that's basically how I've lived my life. I'm not
- 24:51Speaker 3: a great actor, a great come on, come on, but no,
- 24:55Speaker 3: I'm serious. I look at some of these actors like, god,
- 24:58Speaker 3: that guy is incredible. Look at that writings. But there's
- 25:01Speaker 3: another element to there's a desire to get it across
- 25:06Speaker 3: the finish lines. It's just you know what I mean. Win.
- 25:09Speaker 3: It may not be pretty, but I just want to
- 25:12Speaker 3: make it.
- 25:12Speaker 4: You know, win. I just want to win. And that's it.
- 25:15Speaker 6: The heart, it's the heart behind you you do, and
- 25:18Speaker 6: that's what makes you a legend.
- 25:20Speaker 1: And I don't know if you like this, but you
- 25:23Speaker 1: know why you were you. It was just in the
- 25:26Speaker 1: stars for you. You were destined to make something great and
- 25:29Speaker 1: be great. And that's that's how I feel about it.
- 25:32Speaker 1: So thank you for sharing.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Oh well, thank you well for all the other outcasts
- 25:37Speaker 3: out there, come don't yeah, all your little outcasts. They
- 25:42Speaker 3: think that you know, you're different and you're weird, because
- 25:44Speaker 3: you are. You are different and you are weird. But
- 25:47Speaker 3: that's what makes that's what makes for really interesting adventures
- 25:51Speaker 3: in your life because you're not.
- 25:53Speaker 4: The status quo. You're the outcast.
- 25:55Speaker 3: And I said, embrace your oddness. Really I'm telling you
- 26:01Speaker 3: you don't want to fit in. You don't want to
- 26:03Speaker 3: fit in. I love that.
- 26:05Speaker 2: And by the way, I love that slide because I
- 26:06Speaker 2: grew up obviously as an outcast and I I you know,
- 26:09Speaker 2: as you know, I've I've trailblazed my own path. I
- 26:12Speaker 2: want to say, you know, people don't realize that to
- 26:15Speaker 2: have one franchise in Hollywood is a dream. I mean
- 26:18Speaker 2: that that really as a producer, a director, an actor,
- 26:21Speaker 2: everybody wants a single franchise. You have Rocky Rambo, expendables, uh,
- 26:28Speaker 2: an escape plan. I mean, you have multiple franchises. Do
- 26:32Speaker 2: you do you recognize I mean, I I know you
- 26:36Speaker 2: know how hard it is to be successful, but do
- 26:39Speaker 2: you even know how hard it is to have fourth
- 26:41Speaker 2: I mean, nobody has that.
- 26:43Speaker 1: He's like, He's like, yeah, dude, I know how hard
- 26:45Speaker 1: it is.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I thanks thanks for that.
- 26:51Speaker 3: You know, I'll tell you you've got the You know,
- 26:55Speaker 3: if you can do a sequel, it's the third one.
- 26:59Speaker 3: It's the third one.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Is that really?
- 27:01Speaker 3: That's because you've lost the element of surprise? But what
- 27:05Speaker 3: early on in my career, I go, why can that
- 27:08Speaker 3: television show run for ten years? And you make an
- 27:13Speaker 3: interesting character? And actors go, well, that's it. I don't
- 27:17Speaker 3: want to revisit that again ago, but the character is
- 27:20Speaker 3: still growing and the audience really likes it. Why would
- 27:24Speaker 3: you stop? And they go because it's not pure it'
- 27:28Speaker 3: it's it's a money grab. I go, well, it's all
- 27:32Speaker 3: those things, but it still can be really good entertainment.
- 27:35Speaker 3: And the character is growing because the actor is growing,
- 27:39Speaker 3: and so I earlier on I've always I've always said why.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I mean, if I see Rampa like I was the
- 27:46Speaker 3: eleventh choice for Ramba. Nobody wanted to do the movie.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Everyone in Hollywood who had any kind of notoriety said path,
- 27:57Speaker 3: including three different directors. Rambo went, this is a no brainer.
- 28:03Speaker 3: This is an interesting All I have to do is
- 28:05Speaker 3: change one thing. Rambo was a psychotic, and I go,
- 28:10Speaker 3: you know what, let's make the world psychotic. And he
- 28:13Speaker 3: just wants to like fit in as opposed to being out.
- 28:17Speaker 4: That's all I want to change.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I said in the In the novel, guys, he kills everyone,
- 28:22Speaker 3: he's crazy, and I go, why why why if you
- 28:26Speaker 3: just take that element out? And he wants to fit
- 28:28Speaker 3: in whole the character, whole the story, And I would
- 28:33Speaker 3: do if my body.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Would hold up.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I would do him. Rambo literally turns into dust, like, okay,
- 28:41Speaker 3: Rambo twenty the dust.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Bowl and that's it.
- 28:47Speaker 3: It swirls away in a dust devil and that's the
- 28:49Speaker 3: end of it.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Wait so so, but but sly so. All these people
- 28:53Speaker 2: passed on Rambo, which I had no idea. And again
- 28:56Speaker 2: another property that you saw something that nobody else saw.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I mean, that's kind of right, that's pretty epical, real
- 29:05Speaker 2: quick nostalgia. I said it before we had you on.
- 29:08Speaker 2: You know, it's crazy. The story of Sustine, one of
- 29:11Speaker 2: your daughters, who worked on my first movie I directed,
- 29:16Speaker 2: and I didn't I was telling the audience the story
- 29:18Speaker 2: that I didn't call you, which normally I call you
- 29:21Speaker 2: for anything story related, and her agent had called me,
- 29:26Speaker 2: and I was like, of course, I'll see Sustine. I mean,
- 29:29Speaker 2: the lineage is there, let's see. And I watched her
- 29:31Speaker 2: tape and she crushed it. She's obviously an incredible talent.
- 29:35Speaker 2: We cast her on the spot and you, I don't
- 29:37Speaker 2: think new till she was in Puerto Rico filming is
- 29:41Speaker 2: that we're about to leave about that.
- 29:44Speaker 4: I was so shocked. That's when I called you. It's true. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 3: I thought she had run away from home, I swear
- 29:55Speaker 3: to you, so she doesn't want any help at all.
- 29:58Speaker 4: So I was so taken in the back that she
- 30:00Speaker 4: actually did.
- 30:01Speaker 3: It on her own volition. Oh yeah, nice, yow.
- 30:04Speaker 2: And I gave her a lot of respect props. I
- 30:07Speaker 2: said to her, I said, you know, I've not She said,
- 30:09Speaker 2: have you spoken to my dad? I said, I've never
- 30:10Speaker 2: not spoken to her dad. No, and I said, And
- 30:13Speaker 2: when she got there, she pretty much had finished or
- 30:15Speaker 2: the day before, she was about to shoot. And then
- 30:17Speaker 2: you called me, and I was even more shocked, and
- 30:19Speaker 2: were I think we were both shocked, like you didn't know,
- 30:21Speaker 2: I didn't know. We didn't know.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I didn't know.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I know.
- 30:25Speaker 4: And it's it really is hard for.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Kids that have I guess she might say, have a
- 30:31Speaker 3: step up or privileged background to feel as though they've
- 30:35Speaker 3: actually done something on their own cognization, on their own watch.
- 30:39Speaker 3: And thank you very much for recognizing that she she
- 30:43Speaker 3: literally did it without any help from her father.
- 30:46Speaker 2: No, no, hundred percent. And there were three girls up
- 30:50Speaker 2: for that role, and I watched them all just on performance,
- 30:53Speaker 2: and she crushed it and she was fantastic on set.
- 30:56Speaker 1: She was fantastic.
- 30:57Speaker 2: She took direction and and she just she's she she's
- 31:00Speaker 2: obviously got it in her blood and she's gonna have
- 31:03Speaker 2: a big career. So I thank you for that.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Why before we leave, so, are any of your other
- 31:10Speaker 6: girls into acting or is it just stem?
- 31:14Speaker 3: No? Actually, uh, Scarlet has. There's something about Scarlet that
- 31:20Speaker 3: is very drawn to the arts, and it's something that
- 31:23Speaker 3: I kind of persuade. I say, you know, this comes
- 31:26Speaker 3: with an abundance of heartache. You understand that. And this
- 31:30Speaker 3: is the most insecure profession there is because the product
- 31:35Speaker 3: is you. It's not a pair of shoes or a purse.
- 31:38Speaker 3: When you don't get it, it's you being rejected. So
- 31:41Speaker 3: the one thing, if you have to have incredibly, incredibly
- 31:45Speaker 3: thick skin, it's more important than having thick hair. So
- 31:53Speaker 3: if you have that, you may persevere. Sophia is very
- 31:57Speaker 3: very aeradise.
- 31:59Speaker 4: She likes to read.
- 32:00Speaker 3: She's this and that. So they're actually doing a podcast together,
- 32:05Speaker 3: Christean and Scott. They're starting I think in a day
- 32:08Speaker 3: or so, and it's called are you ready?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Oh my God? That's fun.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Unwax. You could interpret that a lot of way, surve
- 32:21Speaker 3: forwards or oneself.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. Well, I can't wait to hear that.
- 32:28Speaker 2: As soon as that's out, I'm sure i'll see the
- 32:31Speaker 2: thank you. They're going to be great and obviously they
- 32:34Speaker 2: they're going to have an easy time getting guests, you know.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I mean, well, I'm going to thank you. Listen, you
- 32:40Speaker 3: two guys are doing a fantastic job. I know it's
- 32:43Speaker 3: not easy. Well, we know each other personally, so this
- 32:47Speaker 3: this is a wonderful treat because this team out of nowhere.
- 32:52Speaker 3: So it's something that you've all developed and you're you know,
- 32:55Speaker 3: you are such a magnanimous and humorous it's smart man.
- 32:59Speaker 3: And you is there anything you can't do here? Yeah?
- 33:05Speaker 1: Go sly, there we go.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I'm very nice, very nice.
- 33:11Speaker 4: It's so serious.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I mean, you asked a nice question, but you have
- 33:15Speaker 3: a certain aura about your show here that I see
- 33:19Speaker 3: nothing but green lights and blue skies.
- 33:24Speaker 2: We are so grateful to have you. Thank you, and
- 33:27Speaker 2: thanks for being a great friend and colleague and guest.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I love you and I'm appreciative and we just can't
- 33:34Speaker 2: say enough nice things.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Well, thank you, and we're going to be working together
- 33:38Speaker 3: real soon as you know.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Yes, we have an announcement soon on another movie that
- 33:41Speaker 2: we're doing together, so you be all right, thanksly and
- 33:45Speaker 2: everybody all right, thank you guys. Wow lah.
- 33:49Speaker 4: So I mean I'm like, shook it.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I'm going to say something. I think that your fans
- 33:55Speaker 2: will be happy because I think that's the first time
- 33:58Speaker 2: I was quiet pretty much the entire episode. I mean,
- 34:02Speaker 2: he by the way he deserves I mean my silence
- 34:06Speaker 2: because he is just epic epic.
- 34:08Speaker 1: He is he is epic and every time, you know,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I've had the pleasure of being around him in more
- 34:17Speaker 1: intimate settings and it's you almost have to like take
- 34:22Speaker 1: you have an out of body experience, like when you
- 34:25Speaker 1: go through his life, and that he wasn't given a chance.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So he was like, fuck this, I'm writing my own
- 34:31Speaker 1: script like he just like he did the work.
- 34:34Speaker 3: They don't.
- 34:34Speaker 1: There aren't very many stars like him anymore.
- 34:37Speaker 4: There's a lot of waiters.
- 34:38Speaker 1: There's not a lot of people who who go for it.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I want to I want to second that I agree
- 34:43Speaker 2: with you, and not only that, to hear that being
- 34:47Speaker 2: an outcast makes you unique and special and drive success.
- 34:52Speaker 2: I think a lot of us share that same kind
- 34:55Speaker 2: of thing. You know, I was an outcast, you were
- 34:57Speaker 2: an outcast, and I think that being an outcome cast
- 35:00Speaker 2: as when you're young. We have to embrace that and
- 35:03Speaker 2: say it's okay, because that means we're creating our own
- 35:06Speaker 2: path in our own way, and we're not going to
- 35:08Speaker 2: be a follower. And anyway, I was just look, I've
- 35:11Speaker 2: known Sly a long time, and I felt like, Wow,
- 35:13Speaker 2: he really gave us his heart in this interview, and
- 35:17Speaker 2: I felt like he really shared with us things that
- 35:19Speaker 2: he didn't have to share in vulnerability to. So if
- 35:23Speaker 2: people who are wanting to get in the business or
- 35:26Speaker 2: wanting to start their own business, maybe they can take
- 35:28Speaker 2: away from this interview that, you know, don't be afraid
- 35:31Speaker 2: and just create your own path and be honorable to that.
- 35:35Speaker 2: So I am. I'm so moved right now. I'm so grateful,
- 35:39Speaker 2: and I'm so thankful for having Sylvester Sloan.
- 35:42Speaker 1: I also have to give you before we let everyone
- 35:44Speaker 1: go back to their real life, I also have to
- 35:48Speaker 1: give you a lot of credit, Rand, because you know,
- 35:52Speaker 1: we have these guests on and they're very open with
- 35:55Speaker 1: us and they share things that you know, I think
- 35:59Speaker 1: they they otherwise wouldn't share if they didn't feel safe.
- 36:02Speaker 1: And you and I have talked about this before this
- 36:05Speaker 1: podcast is not too We always talk about spilling the tea,
- 36:08Speaker 1: but I'm not here to break news. I'm not here
- 36:10Speaker 1: to like make you feel uncomfortable, and hopefully a lot
- 36:13Speaker 1: of articles are written about it. I just want people
- 36:15Speaker 1: to show up and feel like they're in a safe place,
- 36:18Speaker 1: and you bring guests on that you've really made incredible
- 36:25Speaker 1: friendships with them so they feel safe with you. So
- 36:28Speaker 1: I also give yourself some credit when when we have
- 36:31Speaker 1: guests on that share like that, they also are doing
- 36:33Speaker 1: that because they feel safe with you. No, and hopefully
- 36:36Speaker 1: me too.
- 36:38Speaker 2: No, but first of all, I appreciate that, babe, And
- 36:41Speaker 2: of course, and I know that they come on because
- 36:44Speaker 2: there is a trust and a long history of a relationship.
- 36:46Speaker 2: But at the same time, even coming on, you know,
- 36:50Speaker 2: they make a decision, and you're right, obviously, I think
- 36:53Speaker 2: because of our relationship they open up more. But it
- 36:55Speaker 2: is so kind to see somebody of his success sit
- 37:00Speaker 2: on our podcast and say, hey, you know, this is
- 37:03Speaker 2: what it was like and I wasn't secure when I
- 37:06Speaker 2: didn't have anything, and blah blah blah, And honestly, I
- 37:09Speaker 2: really hope our audience embraces these vulnerable, honest authentic moments
- 37:16Speaker 2: that we get with our guests, because for me, everything's
- 37:18Speaker 2: about you know what, let's take it back a step.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Everything's about relationship.
- 37:21Speaker 4: You know.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Our podcast is built on our relationship, that's how it started,
- 37:25Speaker 2: but it's also our relationships with everybody else, you know,
- 37:28Speaker 2: with our friends, with our circle, with people we meet.
- 37:31Speaker 2: And I just am grateful to have you and to
- 37:34Speaker 2: have this podcast and a platform for us to share
- 37:37Speaker 2: and bring people in that are part of our lives.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And Sly was an incredible guest today and it was
- 37:43Speaker 2: just perfect.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Well, we are super corny today, super cheapy. I'm into it.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I don't think there's going to be any comments in
- 37:50Speaker 1: the comment section that say we bicker too much because
- 37:53Speaker 1: we are showing mad love to each other.
- 37:55Speaker 4: YEA.
- 37:55Speaker 2: First of First of all, I want and I want
- 37:57Speaker 2: to say something because I don't read the comments, but
- 37:58Speaker 2: you've told me if anybody says bicker too much. First
- 38:01Speaker 2: of all, we're in a relationship, what do you think?
- 38:04Speaker 2: Second of all, I love you, babe, and you love me,
- 38:07Speaker 2: and we know that, and I just had to say
- 38:09Speaker 2: it out loud. But I have a question for producer
- 38:12Speaker 2: Tim because he is like the movie guru, what is
- 38:15Speaker 2: your takeaway from that podcast because you've been around Sly
- 38:17Speaker 2: on our movies and stuff.
- 38:19Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I was struck by how inspirational he
- 38:24Speaker 5: was and just you know, making a point to speak
- 38:28Speaker 5: to people with aspirations and dreams of getting into the
- 38:32Speaker 5: I mean, I took his comments as much more broad
- 38:35Speaker 5: than just the film industry, but you know, he did
- 38:37Speaker 5: speak directly to those young people that are trying to
- 38:41Speaker 5: catch a break.
- 38:42Speaker 2: But I agree with you. I agree that it was
- 38:44Speaker 2: much broader, and I think that no matter what business
- 38:46Speaker 2: you're in, after this podcast, you should be so inspired
- 38:49Speaker 2: if you're trying to you know, I don't know, if
- 38:52Speaker 2: you're trying whatever, you're trying to start up a new
- 38:54Speaker 2: company from scratch in your basement, like this podcast should
- 38:57Speaker 2: tell you, go do it. Don't think about it, don't
- 39:00Speaker 2: over obsess, don't obsess over it, just do it. And
- 39:05Speaker 2: and that's the words I'm gonna take away from today.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So laala any last words, because I just I'm in
- 39:09Speaker 2: such a high right now.
- 39:11Speaker 1: All I want to say is, we just had motherfucking
- 39:14Speaker 1: Sylvester Stallone on our podcast.
- 39:16Speaker 3: No big deal.
- 39:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna leave it at that. All right, All right,
- 39:21Speaker 2: go ahead, baby, take us out.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I'm going to take you out by reminding you that
- 39:26Speaker 1: give Them La Laauti has just relaunched, So go to
- 39:29Speaker 1: give them Lala dot com for all of your La
- 39:31Speaker 1: La goods, and we want to thank you so much
- 39:33Speaker 1: for tuning in to the Give Them La La with
- 39:36Speaker 1: Roundela podcast again and we will catch you next week.
