- 0:10Speaker 1: It's the gold reform.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It Tonight, Greta Tunberg makes a fool of herself, Israel's
- 0:17Speaker 2: humiliates her and then puts her on a plane out
- 0:20Speaker 2: of the country as Donald Trump mocks. Plus how the
- 0:24Speaker 2: riots in Los Angeles really started and no, it wasn't
- 0:27Speaker 2: Trump's fault.
- 0:28Speaker 3: And our military goes to war on the weather.
- 0:32Speaker 2: He doesn't have enough money for weapons against China, but
- 0:35Speaker 2: does fight global warming with two new Soular farms. An
- 0:38Speaker 2: extraordinary story also tonight, and llegened Muslim hate preachers sued
- 0:42Speaker 2: in a case that may put Islam itself on trial,
- 0:47Speaker 2: and it's Josh Fredenberg planning return to politics.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Fascinating moves in Kuyong.
- 0:53Speaker 2: But first, the Prime Minister gave a big victory speech
- 0:57Speaker 2: today at the National Press Club.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Was frightening.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It was deluded, It was deceptive. It was a fantasy
- 1:04Speaker 2: that somehow ignored the dangers were in dangers that even
- 1:08Speaker 2: as he spoke, were getting worse fresh reports in the papers.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Does anything Albinezy actually understand what's going on? It was
- 1:18Speaker 2: incredible and no journalists contradicted him most of this. Albaniz
- 1:23Speaker 2: he won last month's selection with lies, and today was
- 1:25Speaker 2: still telling falsehoods like this, just for a start.
- 1:29Speaker 4: On the third of May, the Australian people voted for
- 1:32Speaker 4: Australian values, for fairness, aspiration and opportunity for all, for
- 1:39Speaker 4: a progressive patriotism.
- 1:43Speaker 2: No, Australias did not vote for whatever Albanese is calling
- 1:46Speaker 2: progressive patriotism. I guess ninety nine percent of voters couldn't
- 1:50Speaker 2: even tell you what that actually means progressive patriotism, And indeed,
- 1:56Speaker 2: what they are in fact getting from Albanese is the
- 1:58Speaker 2: opposite to patriotism is three flags division, destroying our unity,
- 2:03Speaker 2: dividing us by race, thrashing our history. And the division,
- 2:06Speaker 2: by the way, is what alben is he did with
- 2:08Speaker 2: the very first words out of his mouth today.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I begin by acknowledging the traditional owners the land on
- 2:15Speaker 4: which we're mating, and paying more respect to elders past,
- 2:17Speaker 4: present and emerging.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Then there was this fantasy that is planned for net
- 2:22Speaker 2: zero emissions by twenty fifty is actually working.
- 2:27Speaker 4: A future where we realize our potential as a renewable
- 2:31Speaker 4: energy superpower, a future where we have a thriving advanced
- 2:35Speaker 4: manufacturing industry.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Again, you know this is false effect.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Today, more reports of this fantasy of becoming a renewable
- 2:45Speaker 2: energy superpower is already dying, especially his dream of making
- 2:51Speaker 2: lots of green hydrogen, as his energy minister has often promised.
- 2:56Speaker 4: And we also know that our green hydrogen future is
- 2:59Speaker 4: fundamental to that clean energy future.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Now, Albinizi promised eight billion dollars to help make this
- 3:09Speaker 2: green hydrogen that's actually created by pumping massive amounts of
- 3:13Speaker 2: wind and solar power through water, but then invests that
- 3:16Speaker 2: billionaire Andrew forres of instead scraped one project after another,
- 3:21Speaker 2: saying the gas is just too expensive. And just today
- 3:25Speaker 2: there was another report of a wake up called a
- 3:27Speaker 2: hydrogen bombshell. Our two biggest remaining gas a green hydrogen
- 3:32Speaker 2: projects admit the gas they make will cost way too much,
- 3:37Speaker 2: more than four times the price of rival energy. You've
- 3:40Speaker 2: got Singapore based Intercontinental Energy that's a co owner of
- 3:44Speaker 2: two huge developments here, admitting that the initial costs of
- 3:47Speaker 2: its hydreen would be at least eight dollars a kilo,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and in time, well maybe it could be half that,
- 3:53Speaker 2: you know, four dollars, but to be competitive, it still
- 3:56Speaker 2: need to be less than two dollars. On Earth would
- 4:01Speaker 2: buy green hydrogen twice the price of twice the best price.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And as for Albanese's promise of a strong manufacturing sector,
- 4:10Speaker 2: here higher power prices made worse by this knit zero mania,
- 4:14Speaker 2: are in fact destroying them. Our nickel industry already gone,
- 4:19Speaker 2: glass makers for construction gone, fertilizer plants going, and now
- 4:25Speaker 2: there are reports of Tomago, the biggest aluminium spilter in
- 4:28Speaker 2: New South Wales, is also going broke because of high
- 4:31Speaker 2: power prices and unreliable wind and sol that and its
- 4:36Speaker 2: governments are going to give it over billions of dollars
- 4:40Speaker 2: of aid. I mean, seriously, Earth to Anthony Albanezi, your
- 4:44Speaker 2: green energy revolution, it's a croc. But there was a
- 4:50Speaker 2: third fantasy in Albaneze's speech.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Today.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Our vition is for a society that is a microcosm
- 4:57Speaker 4: for the world, where all are respects did and valued,
- 5:01Speaker 4: and our diversity is recognized as a strength.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Politicians love saying diversity makes us stronger because it makes
- 5:09Speaker 2: them seem so tolerant, and then they don't get into
- 5:12Speaker 2: awkward arguments. Now, sure diversity can help in some ways
- 5:15Speaker 2: to make a country stronger, but in many ways it
- 5:19Speaker 2: is in fact a challenge, a potential weakness. And again
- 5:24Speaker 2: you just need to look at today's news. Two items
- 5:28Speaker 2: in fact. One, the case of Wissam Haddad of Bankstown,
- 5:31Speaker 2: Almadina Dawa Center is a Muslim pre cheers in the
- 5:35Speaker 2: federal court today suit for racial discrimination over various sermons
- 5:40Speaker 2: he gave are allegedly called Jews vile and treacherous people
- 5:44Speaker 2: and said, among other things, this about killing Jews.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Towards the end of times, when the Muslims will be
- 5:50Speaker 5: fighting the Jews, the trees will speak, the soune will speak,
- 5:56Speaker 5: and I'll say, Oh, Muslim, I believe there is a
- 5:58Speaker 5: Yahudi behind me, Come and kill.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Him who he is due. I've cross slated to scaring us.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Karen Marcus, what happened in court today with that bloke.
- 6:10Speaker 2: But just ahead of today's hearing, had I posted this
- 6:12Speaker 2: clip another ceremony gave about this case about this very
- 6:17Speaker 2: case today, adding the picture of a sword.
- 6:21Speaker 5: I have no problem facing the Jewish lobby, even when
- 6:25Speaker 5: they drag us in courts, even if they put my
- 6:27Speaker 5: photo and the photo of the censer on the media.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I have absolutely no problem with that.
- 6:33Speaker 5: And I have overly condemned any system other than the
- 6:37Speaker 5: system of a lo hors of hand or or that.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But they are the one dragging us to court. So
- 6:40Speaker 3: we're not going to come unarmed.
- 6:42Speaker 6: We're going to fight them with everything that we have.
- 6:45Speaker 5: But if this fighting means that it brings some sort
- 6:47Speaker 5: of strength to the Muslim community, and it teaches a
- 6:50Speaker 5: Muslim community that we should no longer be.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Bullet now you might still insists, yes, yes, just diversity
- 6:58Speaker 2: does make us stronger, and one Muslim preacher doesn't disprove that,
- 7:02Speaker 2: but there are others. In fact, Australia Today also reported
- 7:05Speaker 2: in this Victorian shake. Samir Motadi, also known as Abuhamza
- 7:10Speaker 2: born in Lebanon, speaking here of Zionists, or more correctly,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I believe Israeli Jews.
- 7:17Speaker 7: I've always said that, I've always believed that these Zionists
- 7:19Speaker 7: are not normal. They're blood sucking human beings. They're cavengers,
- 7:27Speaker 7: they're not humans. I swear by a lot and shown
- 7:29Speaker 7: what they all go back to Ukraine and Russia and
- 7:31Speaker 7: America and Britain, and that Palestine is pure from these
- 7:36Speaker 7: filthy tourist Zionists.
- 7:38Speaker 3: And this blood's actually been called the moderate. Now.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I did see sermons by him fifteen seventeen years ago
- 7:44Speaker 2: and It's true he was telling Muslims they were lucky
- 7:47Speaker 2: to live here. They should remember they had more rights
- 7:50Speaker 2: here than in Muslim countries. They should reject Holy war here.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But he seems an angrier man today.
- 7:57Speaker 7: There is a word that exists in which is more,
- 8:01Speaker 7: much more dangerous than the war in Hussa, and living
- 8:04Speaker 7: in this country, we need to understand.
- 8:06Speaker 6: That the one that exists or which is much more dangerous,
- 8:10Speaker 6: which is the war.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Of no bond.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Ottadi is also called former officers leader Peter unt In
- 8:17Speaker 2: a filthy animal. Yet this is a man that Victorian
- 8:20Speaker 2: labor MPs, including Victoria's police Minister, actually court and promote
- 8:26Speaker 2: and grin like happy folks next to him.
- 8:30Speaker 3: What's more, we only need to look.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Right now at Los Angeles to see violent protests waving
- 8:34Speaker 2: Mexican flags, attacking immigration officials and police to stop evicting
- 8:40Speaker 2: illegal immigrants, to see that diversity is just as much
- 8:43Speaker 2: a challenge as it is a strengthen around the West West.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Right now, it seems more a weakness.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So I have a question, is it really too much
- 8:55Speaker 2: to ask for a prime minister to tell voters true
- 9:00Speaker 2: are not fantasies, and especially fantasies that hide real dangers.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Now you heard the Prime.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Minister talking up how he was finding this supposed global
- 9:15Speaker 2: warming menace, but when it came to confronting the very
- 9:18Speaker 2: real menace of the Chinese communist dictatorship, suddenly couldn't say
- 9:22Speaker 2: that he saw any threat at all.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Do you think China is a national security threat to Australia.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I think that our engagement with the region and the
- 9:36Speaker 4: world needs to be diplomatic, needs to be mature, and
- 9:44Speaker 4: needs to avoid the attempts to simplify what are a
- 9:54Speaker 4: complex set of relationships, and Australian journalists should do the same.
- 10:01Speaker 3: But does that mean China is a potential military threat?
- 10:04Speaker 6: Twist?
- 10:04Speaker 4: We have strategic competition in the region.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Let me show you something truly crazy. It's a brilliant
- 10:13Speaker 2: example of what you do get from a defense force
- 10:16Speaker 2: when it's headed by a prime minister like that. I mean,
- 10:19Speaker 2: the Albanizi is stripty strained defense force of the bone
- 10:22Speaker 2: to pay for nuclear submarines we won't start getting for
- 10:24Speaker 2: another decade and more. He just won't top up its
- 10:27Speaker 2: budget to pay for more drones and missiles and extra
- 10:30Speaker 2: supply ships and jet fighters. So you know, three Chinese
- 10:33Speaker 2: warships concerned and navigate Australia firing guns and we didn't
- 10:37Speaker 2: have we could put a frigate in the sea to
- 10:40Speaker 2: follow them.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I mean unbelievable.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yet this almost toothless Defense Force said last week it
- 10:47Speaker 2: does have money to fight that climate, to shoot at
- 10:52Speaker 2: the clouds or who I don't know, in fact, to
- 10:55Speaker 2: build soul of projects in the Northern Territory. Here is
- 10:59Speaker 2: Albanizi's Assistant Minister for Defense, Matt Thistlewaite, opening the new
- 11:04Speaker 2: solar farmer the RWLF Base Darwin, with the ADF boasting
- 11:08Speaker 2: that Defense is taking practical measures to respond to climate
- 11:12Speaker 2: change risks and enhance Defense's energy resilience. If only it
- 11:16Speaker 2: had the resilience to shoot down missiles. Celia Perkins, who's
- 11:21Speaker 2: actually a very senior Defense official, actually called its chief
- 11:25Speaker 2: sustainability officer of all things.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I mean, that's going to scare China.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Oh, which can't attack Australia. It's got a chief sustainability officer.
- 11:34Speaker 2: She says, Defense is thinking and acting differently to achieve
- 11:37Speaker 2: the government's emissions reduction targets. Joining me is our Tuesday
- 11:42Speaker 2: regular National Senator Mat Canavan the former Resources Minister Matt Canavan.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I mean that is just beyond parody. Our military doesn't
- 11:51Speaker 2: have the money for more drones, but it does for
- 11:53Speaker 2: solar panels. Under a prime minister that today couldn't even
- 11:56Speaker 2: bring himself to say that China was a potential military threat.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Does this strike you as insane?
- 12:05Speaker 1: Well, it's not just insane, Andrew, it's self defeating for
- 12:09Speaker 1: our own nation. Our defense force should be focused on
- 12:13Speaker 1: one ultimate aim, and that is in the name of
- 12:16Speaker 1: its own organization, to defend Australia. Its job is not
- 12:20Speaker 1: to change the temperature of the globe. Its job is
- 12:22Speaker 1: not to pursue the latest woke left wing agendas. It
- 12:26Speaker 1: is to defend this country. And as you've outlined, there
- 12:29Speaker 1: are threats in our region. China has been acting in
- 12:32Speaker 1: a threatening way. In fact, the government's own the Labor
- 12:35Speaker 1: government's own defense white Paper defines China's assert of military
- 12:40Speaker 1: actions as destabilizing to our region. So why couldn't the
- 12:43Speaker 1: Prime minister say that today?
- 12:44Speaker 6: Why couldn't he.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Just repeat what is in his own defense white paper
- 12:48Speaker 1: instead of the weasel words we got And you could
- 12:52Speaker 1: tell he was very very uncomfortable there. We need to
- 12:54Speaker 1: call a spade a spade. As Australians, China is acting
- 12:58Speaker 1: incredibly aggressive to its neighbors and near neighbors. It's circumnavigated
- 13:03Speaker 1: our own continents without warning. It's conducted live fire exercises
- 13:08Speaker 1: under a flight path, a civilian flight path between Australia
- 13:12Speaker 1: and New Zealand. Why can't the Prime Minister call this
- 13:15Speaker 1: out and why isn't this government giving direction to our
- 13:19Speaker 1: defense force. Say, look, your job is to defend our country.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Your job is to spend the limited defense budget we have.
- 13:24Speaker 1: It should be more, but the limited defense budget we
- 13:26Speaker 1: have on those issues. Instead we have it Spending on
- 13:29Speaker 1: these is completely trivial matters to the defense of our
- 13:33Speaker 1: nation and aren't going to make the difference to the environment,
- 13:35Speaker 1: but are distracting our defense forces from their key role.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It's just like I said, beyond parody. It is the
- 13:44Speaker 2: joke of Australia, just an updoad in the Chinese threat
- 13:47Speaker 2: you mentioned, I mean only this morning, Taiwan's Defense ministry
- 13:51Speaker 2: reported that Chine has sent fourteen warplanes and six naval
- 13:55Speaker 2: vessels to go threat in Taiwan or practice cutting it
- 13:58Speaker 2: off from the rest of the world. The Chinese across
- 14:00Speaker 2: fourteen times over the median Liane defend dividing those two
- 14:04Speaker 2: countries to test that one's reaction. It's just extraordinary. But
- 14:09Speaker 2: on the whole, what did you make of the Prome
- 14:10Speaker 2: Minister's speech today?
- 14:14Speaker 1: Look, I don't think he got out of first gear Andrew.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Most of the speech simply was a rehash of what
- 14:21Speaker 1: he said at the election. And we do face these
- 14:26Speaker 1: major issues. You've highlighted one in the geopolitical sense, the
- 14:29Speaker 1: military sense. We have still an economic crist this country,
- 14:32Speaker 1: with economic growth being so small, so small in fact
- 14:37Speaker 1: that we've had eight of the last nine quarters where
- 14:40Speaker 1: per person in comes in Australia have gone down.
- 14:43Speaker 3: There was no response to that.
- 14:44Speaker 1: The only thing he did announce was a meeting, another
- 14:49Speaker 1: meeting to have on productivity. He didn't mention the fact
- 14:52Speaker 1: that in his first term as Prime Minister we saw
- 14:56Speaker 1: a more than five percent fall in productivity. There's never
- 14:59Speaker 1: been reduction like that over a three year period of
- 15:02Speaker 1: any kind in recorded Australian economic history. The Primis had
- 15:07Speaker 1: no response to that in his first term. He's now
- 15:09Speaker 1: calling a meeting, but I don't even think he's diagnosing
- 15:11Speaker 1: the problems correctly. Here, Andrew, where productivity has really fallen
- 15:16Speaker 1: is protect particularly in our energy sector, our mining sectors.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And his speech was all, let's just keep going, let's
- 15:24Speaker 1: keep going and doubling down on the hydrogen failures that
- 15:26Speaker 1: you've outlined, the renewable energy failures that he's continuing to
- 15:29Speaker 1: preside over. We're not going to fix the productivity issue
- 15:33Speaker 1: we've got this country unless we properly diagnose what has
- 15:36Speaker 1: gone wrong to get us in this position.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, let me just call up a graphic where that
- 15:44Speaker 2: makes exactly the point you've just pointed out. In fact,
- 15:47Speaker 2: I think your handwriting is on this that productivity has
- 15:51Speaker 2: in fact dropped like a stone since how many as
- 15:55Speaker 2: he was first elected.
- 15:58Speaker 3: It's just incredible.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Look at that he gets elected and it drops nearly
- 16:03Speaker 2: six percent, which as it just hasn't happened for decades
- 16:07Speaker 2: and decades. Do you think he's serious when he says, oh, look,
- 16:11Speaker 2: let's have this productively round table. I'll hear, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 2: suggestions from business leaders, when in fact he ambushed them
- 16:19Speaker 2: at their first meeting with business leaders around table at
- 16:23Speaker 2: the start of his last term, and really, you know,
- 16:26Speaker 2: just ran through all this pro union laws et cetera,
- 16:29Speaker 2: et cetera. Isn't that the real issue? How is he
- 16:33Speaker 2: promising to actually pull back those you know, those crony
- 16:38Speaker 2: union kind of laws and restrictions and start approving more projects,
- 16:42Speaker 2: particularly mining and energy.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Well, look, for all our psyches, I hope he is.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I mean, I do generally hope that he gets serious
- 16:50Speaker 1: so on fixing up the bottle etxe in our economy.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I think the Australian economy is in a very dire
- 16:55Speaker 1: state right now. We've seen very lackluster private investment figures
- 16:59Speaker 1: in the last few months. I mentioned the fact that
- 17:01Speaker 1: we've been going backwards in per person terms. The only
- 17:03Speaker 1: reason we've had some economic growth over the last few
- 17:06Speaker 1: years is because we've been importing massive amounts of people
- 17:09Speaker 1: from overseas and the government's been spending heaps of money,
- 17:12Speaker 1: which is unsustainable. So we've got to take action. So
- 17:15Speaker 1: I hope he takes action, not just a meeting. You
- 17:18Speaker 1: mentioned the Jobs and Skills summit that he started his
- 17:20Speaker 1: first term with where he ambushed those business people. An
- 17:23Speaker 1: interesting point there, Andrew, is at this massive economic summit
- 17:27Speaker 1: that the promised to call just months into his term,
- 17:31Speaker 1: he didn't invite the Productivity Commission, the key economic advisory
- 17:35Speaker 1: body for the government. On guests one to their name productivity.
- 17:39Speaker 1: He didn't even invite them along and there was no
- 17:41Speaker 1: discussion of productivity. And now he's shocked, seemingly shocked that
- 17:45Speaker 1: in his first three years of government, where he's presided
- 17:47Speaker 1: as Prime Minister over the worst productivity performance of our
- 17:50Speaker 1: nation's history.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I mean, the.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Important thing here is to tell people that without productivity growth,
- 17:55Speaker 1: if productivity is slow as it is here, we end
- 17:58Speaker 1: up with higher inflation than necessary because there is not
- 18:00Speaker 1: enough goods, more money chasing too few goods were therefore
- 18:03Speaker 1: end up with higher interest rates as we have in
- 18:05Speaker 1: response to trying to tackle that inflation, and that can
- 18:08Speaker 1: then lead to an economic downturn, particularly in private investment,
- 18:11Speaker 1: as we're seeing as well. So to get the standard
- 18:14Speaker 1: living of Australians back up to where it used to
- 18:16Speaker 1: be before Anthony Alberinezi was Prime Minister, we desperately need
- 18:19Speaker 1: to take action on productivity. As I say, I'd love
- 18:22Speaker 1: to see it, but all we got today was more talk,
- 18:24Speaker 1: not action.
- 18:25Speaker 2: No, I think it's playing another ambush of business, but
- 18:28Speaker 2: more full them and they get full twice. Matt canavan,
- 18:32Speaker 2: thank you so much indeed for your time after the
- 18:35Speaker 2: break and alleged Sydney hate preacher in court today, Plus
- 18:38Speaker 2: Greta Tumberg flies out of Israel after a disastrous stunt
- 18:42Speaker 2: to embarrass them.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Boy did this stunt backfar?
- 18:50Speaker 2: And Greta Tumberg shaving to Gaza to embarrass Israel has
- 18:54Speaker 2: just left. This sanctimonious scold, the one with egg on
- 18:58Speaker 2: her face, who thought she showed up, should be going
- 19:02Speaker 2: there to show up Israel's cruelty to Palestinians by trying
- 19:05Speaker 2: to break Israel's blockade of Gaza. In fact, it has
- 19:07Speaker 2: already been pictured being fed herself by Israeli soldiers and
- 19:11Speaker 2: smiling as she's been pictured in front of Israeli flags.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Has been reported as refusing to watch a film The
- 19:19Speaker 2: Hamas mascre of Jews in October seven, so you know,
- 19:23Speaker 2: deliberately blind to the truth. And then after that blizzard
- 19:26Speaker 2: of pro Israel news was popped right onto a plane
- 19:30Speaker 2: out of the country. She got just one night in
- 19:33Speaker 2: Israeli detention, essentially to get a good sleep, and already
- 19:36Speaker 2: is like bye bye, Greta, thanks for dropping in and
- 19:39Speaker 2: that tiny bit of food that she and the other
- 19:41Speaker 2: eleven activists on a boat we're bringing to gazas this
- 19:44Speaker 2: Raeli said, don't you worry, we will bring that to
- 19:47Speaker 2: Gaza along with all the other food, truckloads of.
- 19:50Speaker 3: It we already let in. Really it could hardly have
- 19:53Speaker 3: gon worse for Greta.
- 19:55Speaker 2: In fact, the whole stunt exposer is just an attention junkie,
- 19:59Speaker 2: and worse as a tool of extremists, a useful idiot.
- 20:04Speaker 2: So both these things were actually clear right from the
- 20:06Speaker 2: very start. We saw, for instance, that Tumberg six bier
- 20:09Speaker 2: principles apparently only while they make good publicity. So it
- 20:13Speaker 2: seems now, I mean, six years ago, Tumberg was a
- 20:16Speaker 2: global warming superstar.
- 20:18Speaker 3: One it seem so.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Pure that she refused to fly from Europe to New
- 20:22Speaker 2: York to give a speech to the United Nations. She
- 20:24Speaker 2: instead went bay yacht all sales, zero missions, and not
- 20:29Speaker 2: even a toilet on it to get all that to
- 20:32Speaker 2: get rave reviews from the UN about being so against
- 20:35Speaker 2: fossil fuels. This time, however, she sailed in a yacht
- 20:39Speaker 2: with diesel engines. You can hear them humming in this
- 20:43Speaker 2: video shot during the trip to Gaza by another activist
- 20:47Speaker 2: on board, and all this while the sales, as you'll see,
- 20:50Speaker 2: are furled.
- 20:52Speaker 8: Today marks our seventh day, so you brought the madeleine.
- 20:55Speaker 2: As you can see, we're still on our way, heading
- 20:57Speaker 2: straight toward Gaza with nothing.
- 21:00Speaker 9: What went in our sales and purpose in our heights,
- 21:04Speaker 9: wind in ourselves by foot and look at.
- 21:06Speaker 3: The company Greta kept there.
- 21:09Speaker 2: One of the self described founders of the group that
- 21:11Speaker 2: organized this voyage, this one boat freedom flotilla is bere
- 21:16Speaker 2: are we now bere are We wasn't actually on the boat.
- 21:19Speaker 2: But he's a Palatini in Britain who has been described
- 21:22Speaker 2: in Parliament as a person with the links to Hamas,
- 21:24Speaker 2: which he denies, as someone who has been actually photographed
- 21:28Speaker 2: with the then leader of Hamas, Ishmael Haneia in the
- 21:32Speaker 2: scarf there. Now he has since been assassinated. But what
- 21:36Speaker 2: company Greta keeps that activists you just saw speaking there
- 21:40Speaker 2: with the engines running in the background. Seems an anti
- 21:43Speaker 2: white racist to me. A German of Turkish background telling
- 21:48Speaker 2: some German woman she had no right to speak about
- 21:50Speaker 2: pro Palasinian radicals in our own country because she's white.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And then, as he said before, told you a couple
- 22:04Speaker 2: of nights ago. Also on the boat was this Brazilian
- 22:08Speaker 2: Tiago Vila, who was such a fan of the now
- 22:11Speaker 2: assassinated leader of the hesbla terrorist group that he was
- 22:14Speaker 2: at the man's funeral calling the dead Nazarella a martyred
- 22:19Speaker 2: hero and beloved.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I mean, the whole thing, This whole stunt was just
- 22:24Speaker 3: so embarrassing.
- 22:27Speaker 2: And the arrest of this dopey dozen on this boat
- 22:30Speaker 2: those Radish soldiers were such an anti climax, no violence,
- 22:34Speaker 2: little drama.
- 23:02Speaker 3: And then to top it all off, Donald Trump made
- 23:04Speaker 3: fun of Tunberg.
- 23:06Speaker 10: Well, she's a strange person. She's a young, angry person.
- 23:09Speaker 10: I don't know if it's real anger. It's hard to believe, actually,
- 23:12Speaker 10: but I saw what happened. Uh, she's certainly different anger management.
- 23:18Speaker 10: I think she has to go to an anger management lass.
- 23:22Speaker 10: That's my primary recommendation for her.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Grea Tunberg has gone from a global warming messiah to
- 23:30Speaker 2: a global joke. Now a prominent Muslim preacher, Wisam Haddad
- 23:36Speaker 2: of Bankstown, al Medina Dawa Center, he fronted the Federal
- 23:39Speaker 2: court in Sydney today for the start of four day hearing,
- 23:42Speaker 2: accused of vilifying Jews. Hadad is being sued by the
- 23:46Speaker 2: Executive Council of Australian Jury for racial discrimination in various
- 23:50Speaker 2: sermons he gave, where he allegedly has a set of
- 23:52Speaker 2: top of the show, was calling Jews vile and treacherous people,
- 23:56Speaker 2: and for sermons including that one I showed you two
- 23:59Speaker 2: about killing Jews.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Now, what's towards the end of times when the Muslims
- 24:03Speaker 5: will be fighting that the Jews, the trees will seek.
- 24:08Speaker 5: The stone will speak and I'll say, oh, Muslim, I
- 24:11Speaker 5: believe there is a Yahudi behind me, come and kill him.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I played it again because I wanted to show you
- 24:18Speaker 2: that had in that case was actually quoting from a
- 24:20Speaker 2: sacred Islamic text, the Sahib Bukhari, which is a prophecy
- 24:24Speaker 2: by the way, it's not a commandment, and it says
- 24:26Speaker 2: the hour, meaning the hour of the last days, will
- 24:29Speaker 2: not be established until he fight with the Jews, and
- 24:31Speaker 2: the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say, oh, Muslim,
- 24:34Speaker 2: there is a Jew hiding behind.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Me, so kill him.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So in a sense, then you could argue that the
- 24:41Speaker 2: preaching of Islam itself is on trial here because it's
- 24:45Speaker 2: in the q Quranic verses or in fact the sacred hadith.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I was joined a short while ago from outside the
- 24:52Speaker 2: court by Scyonis reporter and hosts Caroline Marcus Karena Marcus,
- 24:57Speaker 2: great to see you, wish had Dad. What are the
- 24:59Speaker 2: claims made against him? What are the complaints?
- 25:04Speaker 9: Well, essentially, Andrew, this is a trial about anti Semitism
- 25:09Speaker 9: with some Hadada is accused of breaching the Racial Bilification
- 25:13Speaker 9: Act Section eighteen C by giving five sermons in November
- 25:18Speaker 9: twenty twenty three in which he variously describes Jews as
- 25:22Speaker 9: the descendants of pigs at monkeys, a vile and treacherous people,
- 25:27Speaker 9: and also made some of the comments that you played
- 25:30Speaker 9: in the introduction, preaching about Muslims.
- 25:33Speaker 8: Killing Jews at the end of times.
- 25:36Speaker 9: Now he's accused by the Executive Council of Australian Jury,
- 25:40Speaker 9: which is the country's peak Jewish group, of breaching the
- 25:45Speaker 9: Bilification Act by making comments that are reasonably likely to offend, insults, humiliate,
- 25:52Speaker 9: or intimidate Australian Jews.
- 25:54Speaker 8: So that's basically what it's.
- 25:56Speaker 3: All about and what happened in court today.
- 26:00Speaker 9: This is the first day of the trial and it
- 26:01Speaker 9: was a dramatic first day. First of all, with some
- 26:04Speaker 9: Haddad appeared in person today. He arrived wearing the Palestinian kafia.
- 26:10Speaker 9: He was less outspoken outside corp when he arrived and
- 26:16Speaker 9: when he left a bit later.
- 26:17Speaker 8: I was interested to see that he made.
- 26:21Speaker 9: A point of not standing or bowing for the judge
- 26:25Speaker 9: at various points during today's hearing, which is custom. Everyone
- 26:29Speaker 9: else in the room did so. He hasn't given his
- 26:33Speaker 9: evidence yet, but we heard the opening statements from his
- 26:37Speaker 9: defense and from the Jewish group's legal team, as well
- 26:43Speaker 9: as some of members of the Jewish community who gave evidence.
- 26:46Speaker 8: About what it was like to hear those speeches.
- 26:50Speaker 9: Basically in the statements we heard from Jewish leaders that
- 26:55Speaker 9: most Jews would have felt that his comments were dehumanizing
- 26:59Speaker 9: and were anti Semitic.
- 27:01Speaker 8: But his barristers said this is not a case about.
- 27:04Speaker 9: Anti Semitism, and he said that Jews would have had
- 27:07Speaker 9: to deliberately go out of their way to seek the
- 27:12Speaker 9: sermons that mister Hadad gave because they were given to
- 27:15Speaker 9: a Muslim audience of some four hundred people at the
- 27:18Speaker 9: Southwest Sydney Center that he is a director of. In fact,
- 27:23Speaker 9: his barrister compared it to people with a prutish sensitivity
- 27:28Speaker 9: seeking out pornography online and then being offended by it.
- 27:33Speaker 9: Here's some of the exchange that I had with mister
- 27:35Speaker 9: Haddad about what we heard in court, and also a
- 27:38Speaker 9: video that he posted to his Instagram page on the
- 27:42Speaker 9: eve of this trial, in which he vowed to fight
- 27:45Speaker 9: the Jewish lobby with everything he had and showed an image.
- 27:49Speaker 8: Of a sword to Hadad.
- 27:51Speaker 9: Do you accept your sermons by anti semitek your barrister said,
- 27:54Speaker 9: it's not a case about anti Semitism.
- 27:56Speaker 3: You have no comment this stage.
- 27:58Speaker 9: How are you feeling about taking the tomorrow? Do you
- 28:04Speaker 9: have anything else to say about the video that you
- 28:06Speaker 9: posted yesterday showing a sword?
- 28:09Speaker 3: You have no comment of the stage. Thank you.
- 28:10Speaker 9: Now, this is a four day trial and mister Haddad
- 28:13Speaker 9: is expected to take this down tomorrow, so we will
- 28:16Speaker 9: be able to hear more of how he personally is
- 28:19Speaker 9: defending this matter.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Then, well, has he given any notice you like, documents
- 28:25Speaker 2: to the cord in affter David's or whatever, about what
- 28:28Speaker 2: the nature of defense will be, because for me, it's
- 28:31Speaker 2: really this is really intriguing because one tricky issue that
- 28:35Speaker 2: will have to be dealt with. I believe is that
- 28:38Speaker 2: when Hadad said a Jewish behind me, come kill him,
- 28:41Speaker 2: he was actually quoting a sacred Islamic text, which means
- 28:45Speaker 2: suggests to me at least is being sued in that case,
- 28:48Speaker 2: in that particular instance, for quoting his religion's holy books.
- 28:52Speaker 3: What has been said about that, if anything.
- 28:57Speaker 9: Well, that was referred to in the opening statement today,
- 29:00Speaker 9: and it is also part of the defense that has
- 29:02Speaker 9: been filed with a call which I've read in full, Andrew,
- 29:06Speaker 9: and you're right, that is going to form a big
- 29:08Speaker 9: part of his defense here because he is arguing that
- 29:12Speaker 9: the sermons that he gave were derived in substance from
- 29:15Speaker 9: a religious foundation.
- 29:17Speaker 8: Now, what's interesting is that there are going to be.
- 29:20Speaker 9: Two experts that are called on Islamic scripture, both for
- 29:26Speaker 9: the Jewish group side and for the defense.
- 29:30Speaker 8: And the Jewish group has pointed out that both.
- 29:32Speaker 9: Of these experts will say that there is nothing in
- 29:36Speaker 9: Islamic scripture which says that it's all right that endorses
- 29:41Speaker 9: stereotyping a group based on their race or ethnicity. Now
- 29:45Speaker 9: we yet to hear that evidence at this stage, but
- 29:48Speaker 9: certainly mister Haddad's case is that he is merely and
- 29:53Speaker 9: at largely quoting from these texts.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's a interesting twist to what the prosecutor of the
- 30:05Speaker 2: complainant's case.
- 30:06Speaker 3: My goodness. Well, anyway, there you go, Karen and Marcus.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I am going to look very closely at how that bit.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Unwinds, and I might later consulted after the case, of course,
- 30:18Speaker 2: and an expert on the Quranic text myself, and see.
- 30:22Speaker 3: What he says. Kroenn Marcus, thank you so much indeed
- 30:25Speaker 3: for your time.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Thanks Andrew.
- 30:29Speaker 2: I know there was a mention of the Racial Vilification Act. We've,
- 30:33Speaker 2: of course, we met the Racial Discrimination Act. And now
- 30:37Speaker 2: after the break what you haven't been told how the
- 30:40Speaker 2: violent rites for legal immigrants actually started. And you should
- 30:45Speaker 2: stop blaming Donald Trump. It's hard to believe how much
- 30:54Speaker 2: the American media left is trying to play down the
- 30:57Speaker 2: extraordinary violence we've seen in Los Angeles since Friday, when
- 31:00Speaker 2: immigration officials arrested illegal immigrants and the local Democratic politicians
- 31:06Speaker 2: summoned the mob to come confront them. Those officials came
- 31:10Speaker 2: under a vicious attack. I meant, times it looked like
- 31:12Speaker 2: attempted murder, and at other times it looked like an
- 31:15Speaker 2: insurrection by foreign nationals flying the Mexican flag. Here are
- 31:20Speaker 2: some examples of that coverage.
- 31:23Speaker 6: The La County Police say that they have it under control.
- 31:28Speaker 11: These agents are the ones provoking protesters and also making
- 31:33Speaker 11: up aggression by these protesters, and later video shows people
- 31:38Speaker 11: were not aggressive.
- 31:40Speaker 2: We are having an administration that's targeting peaceful protests.
- 31:43Speaker 6: You know, you've heard reports that there are riots on
- 31:45Speaker 6: the streets of Los Angeles.
- 31:47Speaker 11: That is not what's happening across the city of Los Angeles.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Covernation's right, there was anything like a riot happening.
- 31:52Speaker 6: I don't think the National Guard is needed now. Things
- 31:55Speaker 6: in La are calm.
- 31:56Speaker 12: It's just a bunch of people having fun watching cars.
- 32:00Speaker 6: Most of those demonstrators were very peaceful.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Doesn't the media often seem like organized lying to you.
- 32:08Speaker 2: California's Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom, he's now saying, is super
- 32:12Speaker 2: President Donald Trump sending the National Guard to control the rioting.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Trump in turn says his top border official Tom Homan
- 32:20Speaker 2: could well arrest Newsom Gavin Newcomb did.
- 32:25Speaker 6: He's daring Tom Holman become an erector. Should he do it.
- 32:30Speaker 6: I would do it to God, I did get.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Great joining me is Donald Trump's first White House spokesman,
- 32:37Speaker 2: Sean Spicer. Sean Spicer, great to see you again, American
- 32:42Speaker 2: flames again. How did this one start?
- 32:47Speaker 13: You know, Andrew, that's a fantastic question. You're probably the
- 32:50Speaker 13: only one in the media world that's asking that, because
- 32:53Speaker 13: I went over this on my show today. Let me
- 32:56Speaker 13: just take you down down the road here. On Saturday,
- 32:59Speaker 13: there was a Democrat assemblyman from California and he saw
- 33:04Speaker 13: ICE agents going into their office into the Fenceton area
- 33:09Speaker 13: where they work. They were driving their trucks, et cetera.
- 33:11Speaker 13: And so he started to live stream it and said
- 33:14Speaker 13: to folks, come gather in this Paramount section of California
- 33:18Speaker 13: that he represents, because something's got to be happening.
- 33:21Speaker 7: They're here on the corner at a business ab a
- 33:25Speaker 7: Landra It's called Paramount Business Center, right across from Paramount.
- 33:30Speaker 13: So hundreds of people came down to observe federal agents
- 33:34Speaker 13: going to their place of work.
- 33:37Speaker 6: Okay, that's what started this.
- 33:39Speaker 13: He gathered people because he said it looks suspicious. Now
- 33:42Speaker 13: I get why people in California think anyone working on
- 33:45Speaker 13: a Saturday is suspicious. But the bottom line is they
- 33:48Speaker 13: were just going to their office. Yeah, and then what
- 33:50Speaker 13: happened was as the gates opened in this area where
- 33:54Speaker 13: they keep their trucks there, you know, for the ice agents.
- 33:58Speaker 13: As the gates open, they started to pelt the trucks
- 34:01Speaker 13: with rocks and they burned three cars on fire.
- 34:06Speaker 6: Now, so to be clear, when people talk about.
- 34:09Speaker 13: The issue escalating, these individuals literally went to work, they
- 34:13Speaker 13: went into their office and got into their cars, and
- 34:16Speaker 13: that's what precipitated all of this.
- 34:19Speaker 6: There was no action, there was no raid, there was
- 34:21Speaker 6: no roundup.
- 34:22Speaker 13: They literally went into the office in a Democratic assemblyman
- 34:25Speaker 13: from California got people all fired up because he assumed,
- 34:29Speaker 13: because it was a Saturday, something.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Must be going on. And their immediate reaction was basically.
- 34:36Speaker 3: You're saying, he's salmmoned them all his Democrat act.
- 34:39Speaker 6: He unleashed them, and then they threw rocks and lit
- 34:43Speaker 6: cars on fire.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Now, the media coverage since right and minimizing what's going on,
- 34:50Speaker 2: blaming Donald Trump for provoking it. And I think you've
- 34:53Speaker 2: just had a very good counter to that argument. But
- 34:56Speaker 2: the media coverage in particular and that of some Democrats
- 35:00Speaker 2: to shills on the media, what do you make of it?
- 35:04Speaker 13: I mean, it's insane that Kamala Harrisk put her first
- 35:08Speaker 13: comprehensive statement out since losing and she talked about our
- 35:11Speaker 13: immigrant neighbors. It's insulting in it's gas lighting. I'm the
- 35:16Speaker 13: grandson or great grandson of immigrants. Most people in this country,
- 35:19Speaker 13: if you're not Native American, came from somewhere.
- 35:22Speaker 6: There's a difference.
- 35:23Speaker 13: So they want to use language that acts like this
- 35:25Speaker 13: is some innocent group of people. They are in this
- 35:28Speaker 13: country illegally. They are attacking federal agents. They are not
- 35:33Speaker 13: our neighbors, are friends. I don't generally speaking, I don't
- 35:36Speaker 13: know about you guys in Australia, but my neighbors. I
- 35:39Speaker 13: don't throw stones at them. I don't light their cars
- 35:42Speaker 13: on fire. They don't do that to me. Maybe that's
- 35:45Speaker 13: just where I'm from, but generally speaking, that's not a
- 35:49Speaker 13: neighborly thing to do. And yet the Democrats want to
- 35:53Speaker 13: think that we don't see this, that we don't see
- 35:55Speaker 13: them waving Mexican flags, lighting things on fire, throwing at
- 36:00Speaker 13: federal agents. They don't think that we see this, and
- 36:03Speaker 13: they say it's mostly peaceful, it's contained, it's under control.
- 36:06Speaker 13: These are our immigrant neighbors. They are our friends without papers.
- 36:10Speaker 4: No.
- 36:10Speaker 13: At the bottom line is every one of these people
- 36:13Speaker 13: who Ice goes after is at the very least guilty
- 36:16Speaker 13: of breaking the law when it comes to coming into
- 36:18Speaker 13: our country illegally. Now many cases there's more laws that
- 36:22Speaker 13: they've broken. But I don't know why Democrats continue to
- 36:26Speaker 13: double down on stupid in this country.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I think part of the problem here, Sean, is that
- 36:32Speaker 2: California has defined US laws for years, calling itself a
- 36:38Speaker 2: sanctuary status, band its officials from cooperating with federal officials
- 36:42Speaker 2: trying to enforce federal laws and illegal immigrants, when immigration
- 36:46Speaker 2: is and should be a federal responsibility because what one
- 36:49Speaker 2: state let's in the rest of the country inherits. So
- 36:53Speaker 2: why does Donald Trump there want gavin you some charge?
- 36:57Speaker 3: Is it over this?
- 36:59Speaker 6: You know?
- 37:00Speaker 13: This is where I think you talk about the malpractice
- 37:03Speaker 13: of the media here in the United States. There's an
- 37:05Speaker 13: issue that I've been bringing up for the last twenty
- 37:07Speaker 13: four hours that hasn't gotten much attention. It's one thing
- 37:10Speaker 13: if it's a local library in LA or a police
- 37:13Speaker 13: station or a park, these are federal agents in federal property.
- 37:18Speaker 13: Donald Trump doesn't just have a responsibility. In fact, he
- 37:21Speaker 13: has an obligation to protect federal agents and federal property.
- 37:26Speaker 13: What makes this instance so different, and I know our
- 37:29Speaker 13: media doesn't want to talk about this, is it's one
- 37:31Speaker 13: thing to nationalize the guard and we have a very
- 37:35Speaker 13: interesting system here where you can be a state guardsman.
- 37:38Speaker 13: They call it Title thirty two. You report to the
- 37:40Speaker 13: governor or the federal government can call you up under
- 37:42Speaker 13: Title ten. It's different US codes. But the bottom line
- 37:46Speaker 13: is that there is no question, zero question, that the
- 37:50Speaker 13: President of the United States must has the responsibility to
- 37:53Speaker 13: protect federal agents in federal property.
- 37:55Speaker 6: And when these individuals because most of them, I.
- 37:58Speaker 13: Don't know where citizens. The other thing they keep talking
- 38:00Speaker 13: about our citizens. From what I see the number of
- 38:03Speaker 13: people waving Mexican flags and saying, you know, f ice
- 38:07Speaker 13: and do all the I don't.
- 38:08Speaker 6: Think there are citizens.
- 38:09Speaker 13: But even if they are, Donald Trump has an obligation
- 38:12Speaker 13: to protect federal agents and federal property, and that's what
- 38:15Speaker 13: he's doing.
- 38:16Speaker 6: Had he not been doing that, he would be derelict
- 38:18Speaker 6: in his duties.
- 38:20Speaker 2: If it hadn't been for this eruption of violence in California,
- 38:24Speaker 2: we would be probably talking about Donald Trump's big bus
- 38:28Speaker 2: up with Elon Musk Eila Musk tweeting that the only
- 38:31Speaker 2: reason the files hadn't been released of Jeffrey Epstein, the
- 38:36Speaker 2: pedophile who's found dead in jail, is that Donald Trump's
- 38:40Speaker 2: name would appear Musk. In turn, Musk has also said
- 38:44Speaker 2: that Donald Trump should be impeached.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Is the leaded those tweets.
- 38:48Speaker 2: But this fallout between Trump and the richest man in
- 38:52Speaker 2: the world who did so much to get Trump elected?
- 38:56Speaker 3: How's that going?
- 38:56Speaker 13: Now?
- 38:57Speaker 3: What's happening here?
- 38:58Speaker 6: Look, here's the way I look at this.
- 39:00Speaker 13: Elon I think didn't realize that he had overstayed his
- 39:02Speaker 13: welcome when it came to tweeting at Donald Trump. These
- 39:05Speaker 13: the people, the supporters in the MAGA movement are for
- 39:08Speaker 13: Donald Trump, and he learned that the hard way.
- 39:10Speaker 6: And I look at this Andrew like two bros.
- 39:15Speaker 13: Two guys who had a little fight, who are never
- 39:18Speaker 13: going to apologize, but kind of have gone back to
- 39:20Speaker 13: their own corners quietly, you know, want to take the
- 39:23Speaker 13: temperature down. And a year from now we'll see each
- 39:25Speaker 13: other at a barbecue and just going to go, hey man,
- 39:28Speaker 13: good to see you, and then walk away again. I
- 39:31Speaker 13: don't know that the relationship ever would be back in
- 39:33Speaker 13: Trump world, it's never over until you die. I mean,
- 39:36Speaker 13: there are so many people whose political career has been
- 39:39Speaker 13: resurrected after going after Donald Trump.
- 39:41Speaker 6: So I never say never. We're at a good place.
- 39:44Speaker 6: You know.
- 39:45Speaker 13: We're not going to be hanging out of each other's houses,
- 39:47Speaker 13: We're not going to exchange Christmas cards. But I think
- 39:49Speaker 13: we're at a daytonte that'll last for a while.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Sure, and Spicer, great to talk to you. Thank you
- 39:56Speaker 3: so much for your time.
- 39:58Speaker 6: You had as always, Andrew.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Is Josh Fredberg heading back to Canberra is to resting
- 40:05Speaker 2: signs in Coyong, plus dramatic news from the ABC Just Broke.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Anthony Albanezi has complained to the Trump administration about police
- 40:18Speaker 2: in the Los Angeles riots hitting Channel known reporter Lauren
- 40:21Speaker 2: to Marsi with a rubber bullet. The Prime Minister said
- 40:36Speaker 2: today you thought police shot to Marsie deliberately.
- 40:39Speaker 6: That footage was horrific.
- 40:41Speaker 4: That was the footage of an Australian journalist doing what
- 40:46Speaker 4: journalists do at their very best, at their very best,
- 40:50Speaker 4: which is to go into an environment that's not comfortable.
- 40:55Speaker 4: But where in la it is not unreasonable to think
- 41:00Speaker 4: that she would not have been targeted with a rubber bullet.
- 41:03Speaker 4: So we have already raised these issues with the US administration.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Said targeted was that how it was raised by the
- 41:12Speaker 1: Australian government that she was seemingly targeted.
- 41:14Speaker 4: By police or she was clearly identified, was clearly identified?
- 41:20Speaker 4: You know, there's no ambiguity.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I'm joined Bob will Kingston, host at Will, the podcast
- 41:27Speaker 2: from The Spectator on politics and culture, and scone News
- 41:30Speaker 2: commentator Joe Hildebrand. I will Albany is he didn't act
- 41:35Speaker 2: that fast than publicly when the Chinese Navy deliberately hurt
- 41:38Speaker 2: Australian navy divers with his sonar eighteen months ago. But
- 41:42Speaker 2: is he right to at least protests about the Americans now.
- 41:47Speaker 14: Well, I don't think he has much of a choice, Andrew.
- 41:49Speaker 14: When an Australian journalist gets shot by American cop, it's
- 41:53Speaker 14: not necessarily something you could let go through to the keeper.
- 41:56Speaker 14: That's an Australian politician. And you know, I'm all for
- 42:00Speaker 14: first on this show, and I think this is a
- 42:01Speaker 14: first on this show. I'm completely with Albo on this one.
- 42:05Speaker 14: It did look pretty unambiguous. It did look like the
- 42:07Speaker 14: cop lineder up and shot her. I would make a
- 42:10Speaker 14: distinction between one police officer and the Californian Police Force
- 42:15Speaker 14: more generally. But I think Albanesi's absolutely right in raising
- 42:19Speaker 14: this with the relevant people in the US because it
- 42:21Speaker 14: does look like a pretty pull attack on a journalist,
- 42:26Speaker 14: which was which in my view, was deliberate.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Joe Hildebrand that policemen seemed too far from a very
- 42:33Speaker 2: close range, and I tend to go with will and
- 42:37Speaker 2: with the Prime Minister.
- 42:38Speaker 3: It did seem to me deliberate.
- 42:42Speaker 12: Yeah, either it was deliberate or that guy is the
- 42:45Speaker 12: worst shot in the history of US law enforcement and
- 42:48Speaker 12: probably shouldn't be carrying a firearm. It was at the
- 42:52Speaker 12: very least, I mean, even if we had to believe
- 42:55Speaker 12: that there was some kind of target, a legitimate target
- 42:59Speaker 12: behind and Laura that I mean, it defies credibility. It's
- 43:03Speaker 12: difficult to even say with a straight face. But the
- 43:06Speaker 12: fact that he fired when she was clearly in the
- 43:08Speaker 12: line of fire, herself evidently in the line of fire,
- 43:10Speaker 12: and appeared to turn around and actually go after her deliberately,
- 43:13Speaker 12: I think it's absolutely disgraceful and albo is absolutely right
- 43:16Speaker 12: to raise it. I find it actually quite baffling and
- 43:20Speaker 12: creepy that it happened.
- 43:22Speaker 2: In fact, the cameraman panned behind her, you know, as
- 43:26Speaker 2: he turned in shock or whatever. And I didn't see
- 43:29Speaker 2: anything behind him to suggest that that was a legitimate
- 43:32Speaker 2: target either. Interesting gossip today, Will and Now I former
- 43:37Speaker 2: Federal Treasurer Josh Fredenberg Jackie Blackwell is running to be
- 43:42Speaker 2: chairman next Monday of the Federal electoral committee of his
- 43:45Speaker 2: former seat of QIONG, now held by till independent Monique Ryan.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I think it's now unopposed after Emilia Haimer dropped out.
- 43:54Speaker 2: This strongly suggests to me that Fredenberg is continuing considering
- 43:58Speaker 2: a return to politics, although obviously it's not committing to
- 44:02Speaker 2: anything anytime soon. Do you think the Federal Liberals need
- 44:06Speaker 2: him back?
- 44:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I do.
- 44:09Speaker 14: I think they need all of the talented people they
- 44:11Speaker 14: can get. There's an interesting question as to why he
- 44:13Speaker 14: would want to come back at the moment. Andrew and
- 44:16Speaker 14: I would see this idea with people like Josh Frodenberg.
- 44:19Speaker 14: And I had this conversation with Joe on the Late
- 44:22Speaker 14: Debate a couple of weeks ago. I'm increasingly of the
- 44:25Speaker 14: view that the broad Church is no longer viable in
- 44:28Speaker 14: modern Australian politics that mixture of social conservatives and classical liberals.
- 44:34Speaker 14: I think there is a lane for a new right
- 44:37Speaker 14: wing party in Australia. I think someone like a Josh
- 44:40Speaker 14: Fredenberg would actually be a very interesting person to be
- 44:43Speaker 14: involved in a movement like that. There is obviously some
- 44:46Speaker 14: work that would need to be done in trying to
- 44:48Speaker 14: unite the grab bag of minor parties on the right
- 44:51Speaker 14: in Australia, but for someone like Fredenberg, that would actually
- 44:55Speaker 14: be a very interesting alternative for me. That's what I
- 44:57Speaker 14: would be thinking of I as and issues.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Well, I hope you're not dreaming that he'd be a
- 45:03Speaker 2: right wing leader, because they don't think in that too much.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Joe, what do you think?
- 45:09Speaker 12: Yeah, I actually think that Josh Fredenberger is probably the
- 45:12Speaker 12: only figure who can unite the broad Church as it was,
- 45:16Speaker 12: and as John Howard described it, he's someone who I
- 45:18Speaker 12: think both moderates and the center right faction of which
- 45:22Speaker 12: is a part or the National right, they respect him.
- 45:26Speaker 12: They both respect him, but they can both live with him.
- 45:29Speaker 12: He's seen, I think as having good conservative credentials but
- 45:32Speaker 12: not being too far the right. And I would imagine
- 45:35Speaker 12: that given that Nick Ryan almost lost her seat with
- 45:39Speaker 12: Peter Dutton as leader. I would think if Susan Leigh
- 45:42Speaker 12: makes it all the way to twenty twenty eight, she
- 45:44Speaker 12: would be in real trouble. And I woul dare say
- 45:46Speaker 12: you could put the house on her losing if it
- 45:48Speaker 12: was Friedenberg himself who ran against her. And I think
- 45:51Speaker 12: for all of those reasons, you know, revenge a possible
- 45:54Speaker 12: tilt at the prime ministership. I imagine he be handed
- 45:57Speaker 12: the leadership on a platter as soon as he re
- 45:59Speaker 12: entered the plament. I think that's very difficult for anyone
- 46:02Speaker 12: of Josh's talent and ambition to say no to.
- 46:08Speaker 14: This.
- 46:09Speaker 2: Seems to me will that left wing opinion shows are
- 46:14Speaker 2: falling like flies around us? Something the other day or
- 46:18Speaker 2: just I think it was this this week yesterday. I
- 46:20Speaker 2: think it was the project on Channel ten gone. The
- 46:25Speaker 2: Ciney Morning Herald's now reporting that long running ABC program
- 46:28Speaker 2: Q and A, which has always been a left wing.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Stack, is about to be axed. My goodness, what's going on?
- 46:36Speaker 3: Do you think.
- 46:38Speaker 14: It's morning again in Australian media?
- 46:40Speaker 6: Andrew, what a week? And look it is.
- 46:43Speaker 14: It is a shame about Q and A because you're right,
- 46:46Speaker 14: it is, you know, just left wing partisan hackery. But
- 46:49Speaker 14: the concept is really good and the idea of having
- 46:52Speaker 14: debates on important issues, bringing together you know, people from
- 46:55Speaker 14: the left and the right, which is I think what
- 46:57Speaker 14: it was meant to be before it just got ideologically captured,
- 47:00Speaker 14: is a really noble ambition. So I think, you know,
- 47:02Speaker 14: the actual concept, I hope is something that we see
- 47:05Speaker 14: more of in Australian media. I'm not hopeful, but unfortunately
- 47:09Speaker 14: that is not what the show ended up as. Yeah.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 47:12Speaker 3: When I went on there back in the day, I
- 47:15Speaker 3: mean I was totally set up. I mean I got
- 47:17Speaker 3: out of it and laughed, but you know, I.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Was the one conservative and then lined up a climate
- 47:24Speaker 2: scientists in the audience to try and ask me to
- 47:26Speaker 2: trying to get me on two different questions. I mean,
- 47:28Speaker 2: it's really ridiculous he failed. But I mean the bad
- 47:32Speaker 2: faith was so clear there. What do you make of it, Joe,
- 47:36Speaker 2: You're going to be weeping tears?
- 47:40Speaker 12: Yeah, Look, I mean I don't like to say any
- 47:42Speaker 12: show go under, but the truth is that the left
- 47:44Speaker 12: killed Q and A. The left killed it on a
- 47:46Speaker 12: number of levels. One was, as you say, I think,
- 47:49Speaker 12: despite all the best intentions a lot of the people
- 47:52Speaker 12: who were lining up the guests would see the panel
- 47:55Speaker 12: as being balanced, whereas people on the right, conservatives would say,
- 47:58Speaker 12: what are you talking about. Famous example is when an
- 48:02Speaker 12: ultra conservative rabbi from New York I had to pull
- 48:05Speaker 12: out at the last minute and they put me on.
- 48:07Speaker 12: They asked if I could go on in his place,
- 48:09Speaker 12: and I said, you do realize you've replaced a Jewish
- 48:12Speaker 12: conservative with a labor voting Catholic. You do know that
- 48:15Speaker 12: we're not but they I think they actually probably thought.
- 48:17Speaker 3: That I was a Jewish Conservative.
- 48:19Speaker 12: So I think that is the problem. You've got all
- 48:21Speaker 12: these crazy lefties who actually think Q and A has
- 48:24Speaker 12: gone too far to the right.
- 48:25Speaker 3: If you could believe that.
- 48:28Speaker 2: This is just extraordinary, the booze alone would tell you
- 48:31Speaker 2: where the audience was on that just some very quickly
- 48:35Speaker 2: ten seconds credit Tamberg. Will what does she achieve getting
- 48:38Speaker 2: yourself arrested by the Israelis.
- 48:43Speaker 6: Not much.
- 48:43Speaker 14: She obviously missed her opportunity at yacht Leak as a teenager,
- 48:46Speaker 14: and so this was her chance to get a Mediterranean
- 48:50Speaker 14: cruise holiday. And I think that's the extent of it.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Will Kingston, Joe Hildebrand lovely to talk to you both.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Thank you so much. That's it for me, Sherry Marks
- 49:03Speaker 3: and up next. Good Night,
