Transcript
- 0:00Hello there. It's most things Kenobi.
- 0:04This is the podcast you're looking for.
- 0:18Hi everybody. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:21most. Thanks Kenobi.
- 0:22A Star Wars podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and all things
- 0:25Star Wars. I'm your host Lauren and I'm
- 0:27your host Leanne and as we always do, we start by giving a
- 0:32thanks to James Arnold Taylor for recording the intro to this
- 0:36episode and all episodes so far what a wonderful human go on
- 0:40over. Give that Jedi some love on the
- 0:42socials wouldja. So today we have a really fun
- 0:47topic. I'm really excited to talk about
- 0:48this one. So am I, it's deep, it's good.
- 0:51It has a lot of different angles that we can go with and it
- 0:55probably deserves more than one episode, but we're going to try
- 0:57and do it in one. We're going to try and do it in
- 1:00like 30 minutes or less. Yes, which is always a challenge
- 1:04for us. Very challenging.
- 1:07So today we're going to discuss. What makes a perfect Jedi?
- 1:11Yes. Does such a thing exists?
- 1:14I think so. And well, you brought up a
- 1:17really good point of does that mean according to the code or
- 1:22does that mean, right? According to our ideas of what
- 1:26makes a good Jedi or what, you know, it's kind of like, could
- 1:28be defined a couple different ways.
- 1:30Yeah. Because I have an idea of what
- 1:34my perfect Jedi embodies, right, and it could be summed up in one
- 1:39word Luke. But you know, for the sake of an
- 1:45episode it's either what I think is a perfect Jedi or what, I
- 1:49think of Jedi should be and have the qualities that they should
- 1:54carry with them but then there's also like does the code dictate
- 2:00and by the code the Jedi code right?
- 2:02Does that dictate what a quote unquote?
- 2:04Perfect Jedi is. I don't know.
- 2:06That's what we're going to get into.
- 2:08Yeah, so I went to Wikipedia for most of my info.
- 2:13I did find a really good article on Reddit, that helped me when I
- 2:17had questions about, like, Cosmic Force versus living
- 2:20Force, because that's also part of like, Jedi ethos.
- 2:23But where did you get your research?
- 2:25Where did you find your stuff? Well, I wanted to, I really
- 2:30wanted to dig into the code because I think the code is
- 2:33defining of the Jedi and is defining of their downfall.
- 2:37So I think it begins and ends with that goddamn Jedi Code that
- 2:41they were, you know, forced to live by if you will.
- 2:47So I kind of studied it and when I studied it, I tried to think
- 2:53of examples in my mind. What's the first Jedi?
- 2:56You know, well, known or not? Well, known, that comes to mind
- 3:00when I think of, you know, the Is listed in the code which I
- 3:04shall read for anyone. Who is not familiar?
- 3:07Yeah, let's do the. That's good idea with the Jedi
- 3:11Code. The Jedi Code goes like this.
- 3:14There is no, emotion there is peace.
- 3:17There is no ignorance. There is knowledge.
- 3:19There is no passion, there is Serenity.
- 3:22There is no chaos, there is harmony, There Is No Death.
- 3:27There is only the force, so that's the Jedi code, right?
- 3:31And they were supposed to to abide by that, but I believe
- 3:35that it was also extremely Strapping?
- 3:40Yes, it caused their downfall. I think it was, it played a huge
- 3:45part, I'll say in the demise of many Jedi, I think whenever you
- 3:53restrict natural inclination, it's like what they say, even
- 3:58about like dieting, right? If you tell yourself, you can't
- 4:01have a thing. That's the thing that you crave
- 4:03the most. Yeah, I think.
- 4:06It's not that the code doesn't mean that you can't have these
- 4:10things. I think the word balance needs
- 4:13to be emphasized more in this code in all the codes you know,
- 4:17Sith greige, edit, whatever first but like where is the
- 4:21balance? Because So there is no emotion.
- 4:26There's peace. Well, there's emotion.
- 4:28You have to have some emotion, right?
- 4:30You just can't go overboard. Like, Anakin, did you know,
- 4:33Ahsoka has a motion? Mmm, she Corral did at times at
- 4:38times she didn't, but there was a balance there and there's
- 4:40times when she tried to Corral it, and Anakin to yes, and so
- 4:45did Obi-Wan. And, you know, it's Then you
- 4:50look at Luke who if he didn't have the emotions that he had,
- 4:54let's say in Empire Strikes Back.
- 4:56Would he have gone after Han and Leia and any of the best been
- 5:00stuff would have happened, you know, he had very strong
- 5:03emotions. I have to go save my friends,
- 5:07you know, and maybe it was rash at the time, you know think
- 5:12through this he is a Skywalker. They don't think first they just
- 5:15act first we love them for it. Right?
- 5:18Very dramatically by the way. But he didn't, you didn't go
- 5:22overboard with it. He didn't go in just killing
- 5:24everybody. Like Anakin probably would have,
- 5:27you know, get away from my family, stay away from my
- 5:29friends, you know. And then just starts beheading
- 5:31people like right, God, bless mannequin but Luke you know was
- 5:38patient which is also on, you know, part of all of this, the
- 5:41patient's part of like, hmm thinking through things, you
- 5:45know. And that's that's kind of like I
- 5:49believe Obi-Wan had quite a bit of passion.
- 5:52I just think he thought more, he was more methodical with he
- 5:56thought. And then executed.
- 5:59And left a lot of it out, I think, right?
- 6:02When I wonder like when that came in because like, if you
- 6:05read the Jedi, Apprentice novels, they talked about how he
- 6:09was much more rash as a young person.
- 6:12Granted those aren't Canon their Legends now but they implied
- 6:15that he had serious issues with anger and was self-conscious and
- 6:20was overreacting. Sometimes they're like hyper
- 6:23reactive without thinking ahead, but it's interesting that you
- 6:26talk about balance because I actually wrote a note here as
- 6:29Well that I think the most balanced Jedis are Luke Ahsoka
- 6:35and Qui gonn. That's exactly what I have
- 6:37written down. Those three are what I have
- 6:39written down. Yes.
- 6:40And I think it's because they have the greatest level of
- 6:44internal peace and it's not that they don't have a motion, but
- 6:49they're able to understand that their actions don't need to be
- 6:53driven necessarily by emotion. And sometimes that's hard
- 6:56learned. Like I think Ahsoka and Luke
- 6:59Luke learned that by making mistakes.
- 7:02Yes, because Empire Strikes Back obviously.
- 7:05It's like part of the heroes Arc.
- 7:07Is part of it. Is you make a huge mistake that
- 7:10usually results in like physical damage to your body which is he
- 7:16loses his hand and Empire. Every Skywalker is this at some
- 7:20point. It's required by Jedi law.
- 7:24Yes. So like Don't know how I mean I
- 7:30guess in master and Apprentice you see a little bit of quiggins
- 7:34training and younger years but we know for sure that like
- 7:37Ahsoka. Her inner peace is hard fought,
- 7:41you know, she's gone through like what we talked about in
- 7:44some pretty prior episodes, the Jedi, Who Knew Too Much?
- 7:48Is that what the episode is? You know?
- 7:51And that's the stuff with beerus.
- 7:53Yeah, and then her are not expulsion but like she leaving
- 7:57the Jedi Order leads to some pretty hard lessons in season 7,
- 8:02which then brings her full circle back around to like she
- 8:04really knows herself much better now, especially maybe since she
- 8:09gets away from Anakin for a while, she's had time to sit and
- 8:13think and reflect and see where she needed the balance, where
- 8:18she was too heavy, and one way for sure.
- 8:21Lighten. Another you really see it in the
- 8:23Mandalorian to, she's so, like centered and the way she refuses
- 8:27to train. Goo baby, Yoda, baby Yoda.
- 8:31And because of the attachment with the Mandalorian, what did
- 8:36she say? She saw the best fall.
- 8:40Obviously, speaking about her master and I can and really if
- 8:46you think about it, Everyone has a motion.
- 8:50Anyone could give into too much of that, you know, so I want my
- 8:55perfect Jedi to have some, you know, I want them to have that
- 9:00because otherwise, you're just a wet paper towel.
- 9:02Like, what are you doing? Like you dare?
- 9:08I say yeah, end up like luminara.
- 9:12Oh yeah, it's funny. You said I just watched that
- 9:15episode the other night where a Oka.
- 9:18Embarrassed. Get trapped, and there's you
- 9:20notion Foundry? Yeah, that'll Foundry and
- 9:25luminara is like, she's kind of a badass.
- 9:28I really like her, but then she's also so cold and I was
- 9:33listening to her in that episode, trying to give her like
- 9:36benefit of the doubt, and trying to see it in a different way.
- 9:39And it's like she was a good Jedi because she was really
- 9:44strict with that code, like she lived by the code, Yeah, she was
- 9:49like ki-adi-mundi always like drives me crazy like when not
- 9:56Cody you Lauren is like good luck Commander or whatever.
- 10:02And Quixote is like there's no such thing as luck.
- 10:06It's like, come on, you ask you, what is up man?
- 10:09Q. Yeah, why are you such a dick?
- 10:14Come on. Yeah.
- 10:16So there we have. We have an example.
- 10:17Lumen are being a fantastic Jedi, truly skilled but she
- 10:23could have found a little more balance when it came to being
- 10:25less detached from you know, her Padawan.
- 10:31I mean come on I mean but did that make her a better Jedi for
- 10:36it. Right.
- 10:38That's kind of what when I was researching this I started to
- 10:41fall into this vicious cycle of like what does that make you a
- 10:44good Jedi or does it make you? It was just like, what is the
- 10:49answer? It's like an existential issue
- 10:51that I feel like, I don't really have an answer for any more.
- 10:53The more I read about it, the less I felt like I could grasp
- 10:56it. That's why I think it's fun.
- 10:59This is fun to talk about and it probably deserves more than one
- 11:02episode, right? Because yeah, I mean, so I went
- 11:06through the list of all the different things discussed in
- 11:09the Jedi code and I came up with Luke for almost every single
- 11:12well for every single one. Hmm Ahsoka, for two of them
- 11:16Qui-Gon 43. No, we won 4-1 and those are
- 11:19just the ones that came to my mind.
- 11:21Immediately, I'm sure if I thought like You know, ala
- 11:24Sakura was very good, she was very even-keeled.
- 11:30She, you know, you can look back at the episode in the Clone Wars
- 11:34where Anakin was hurt Ahsoka was really distraught about it, but
- 11:39it's a good lesson because it, you know, are they peacekeepers?
- 11:44Were, were they peacekeepers and that the lurmen taught 8le, and
- 11:48the rest of them It's some reflection on our you.
- 11:53I mean, you're fighting. You're fighting for what you
- 11:55believe in but are you peacekeepers?
- 11:57So, right, because they were pacifists.
- 12:00So it was like I thought that was a really interesting that
- 12:04was a really interesting juxtaposition pacifist next to
- 12:11the Jedi using force not necessarily the force but like
- 12:15physical Force for the good, you know, for the greater good
- 12:19actually that one of the first thing I wrote down, Knowledge,
- 12:24the force self-discipline where the considered like the three
- 12:27pillars of the Jedi strength, right?
- 12:30And then they, they were like a unified group of people who used
- 12:36the force for the greater good to protect people, but they
- 12:40still use force. And we don't see that in Clone
- 12:42Wars because it's a kid show, the very rarely like kill living
- 12:46beings but in In the movies and books in the cartoons, or the
- 12:52comic books. There's definitely like physical
- 12:54violence against living beings and they don't obviously,
- 12:57they're not supposed to attack unarmed creatures.
- 13:00But like, even Luke in Return of the Jedi, when he goes to
- 13:03Jabba's Palace. Forced chokes.
- 13:05Those go morons, like all they did was stand in his way.
- 13:11It's like, I'm gonna strangle you.
- 13:14It's really funny to watch that again.
- 13:16He just put them out for a few minutes.
- 13:18That's all Yeah. That's what I like to tell
- 13:20myself. It was just he he put them to
- 13:22sleep and they're fine other Phil wake up Dazed and Confused,
- 13:25and it's fine. Everything's fine.
- 13:28One, like, I love that scene, I love that sequence, I love
- 13:31seeing Luke the powerful like that.
- 13:33Yes, he just, he doesn't double, he doesn't second-guess himself.
- 13:40Also a great quality and in a Jedi.
- 13:42You know who never second-guess himself, Obi-Wan He was always
- 13:46very sure. I mean, so sure.
- 13:51I would say he only second-guess himself when it came to personal
- 13:55matters. Yeah.
- 13:57Inward inwardly. I would say he questioned
- 14:00himself outwardly, you know, dubbed.
- 14:03The Negotiator you know wartime no hesitation.
- 14:07He knew what he was doing, he knew what he had to do.
- 14:09He got it done? No hesitation well and like
- 14:14Anakin was his probably greatest weak point.
- 14:16Yeah. As much as people like to think
- 14:18it's the teen I think. He was pretty sure what his
- 14:23feelings were. I mean, he made it pretty clear
- 14:26like even if he loved her, he wasn't going to leave the order
- 14:29for her and he wasn't going to really sacrifice his honor for
- 14:32her. Right?
- 14:33But for Anakin he like laid himself out there.
- 14:36He's the only person he's ever said out loud.
- 14:38I loved you. Yes.
- 14:40And there is always Qui-Gon in the back of his mind I promise,
- 14:45you know to yeah. I said take this child that was
- 14:49supposed to be quiet. It's padded one.
- 14:51And, you know, Qui Gon is For the there is no chaos.
- 14:58There's Harmony I put Qui-Gon down for that and Ahsoka because
- 15:02I find that there is quite a gun was the harmony.
- 15:07Not so much in, you know, everything's Blissful.
- 15:10Everything's, I'm talking like Harmony and that he understood,
- 15:13he understood. It was this way.
- 15:15He understood that. It could be different.
- 15:18He wasn't afraid to speak, and he was okay with that.
- 15:23Like there, he knew that there were faults with the Jedi.
- 15:27You knew there was faults with, you know, the Republic I guess.
- 15:29And and But it was like, okay to him.
- 15:33It was it was like fine for him. I don't know if I'm eloquently
- 15:37putting it properly. You're more of a Qui-Gon assist
- 15:40than I am but I just find that his whole like, he's very
- 15:44centered. And that's the harmony that I
- 15:46think he's not chaotic. I don't find him chaotic
- 15:49whatsoever. No, I don't think so at all.
- 15:51But like, he's not afraid of action.
- 15:54He doesn't shy away from his duty.
- 15:56He's not afraid of dueling. He seemed very politically
- 16:01savvy. He seemed very affectionate
- 16:04Anakin, he seems ready to make peace with Obi-Wan eventually,
- 16:08even though they had contention in Phantom Menace, I think the
- 16:14Qui-Gon is one of my favorite characters because he's warm, he
- 16:21is super balanced and centered, but he's really powerful and I
- 16:25love that he just doesn't take shit from the council.
- 16:28That's that's it. They didn't like him for that.
- 16:33I even wrote one of my headlines ones that are blog was like Jedi
- 16:36Council. Judgy, people who can't keep
- 16:39their opinions to themselves. One is like percent true.
- 16:43They had this idea of living by the code, which is a problem for
- 16:48someone like me, because I really believe there's more than
- 16:50one, right way to live a life and there is no strict rule that
- 16:56everyone should live by, and I think that's why I really relate
- 16:59to Qui-Gon because he's all about like the living force and
- 17:03the cosmic force and like trying to find his place among that it
- 17:10was he was more inclined to be loyal to the force than to the
- 17:18code and I think that's what made him a successful Jedi and
- 17:21he kept trying to get everyone to listen to the force more and
- 17:26live by the code less. Like it was a good.
- 17:29It's more like a guideline. Yeah.
- 17:33Like Jack Sparrow says, I'm all right.
- 17:37Guidelines, can you just use it as just a reference piece, as
- 17:42opposed to, you know, a full-on must live this way, Chandelier
- 17:49live. Any other way.
- 17:51Like come on, you know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 17:54The people who seem to stick to the code, the most seem to have
- 17:58this saddest lime sometimes. I don't know, maybe that's not
- 18:04even a true statement, because, Anakin's pretty sad.
- 18:08They're all sad because it's Star Wars.
- 18:10Yeah, you're right. Ahsoka said, Lucas L3.
- 18:14Much everything that's on, makes me sad.
- 18:17Sorry, folks. We just took a huge downturn in
- 18:20this, but it's Star Wars. And we, we understand the
- 18:23subject matter here. You should always bring a box of
- 18:26tissues to every store where every single time.
- 18:30But you could you could argue that the hardships and struggles
- 18:34and this applies to real life as well.
- 18:36The hardships and struggles develop a good Jedi.
- 18:41If oh yeah learn from it like Ahsoka.
- 18:44If you want to use her as an example, been putting many
- 18:47different scenarios little bit of Obi-Wan in her little bit of
- 18:52Anakin in her, you know, kind of wrestling with both.
- 18:55But she comes into her own person and she lives by her own
- 18:58standards and that's Makes her great because she learned.
- 19:02I mean she lived through the worst of it, right?
- 19:04Everyone around her died or she thought and was left alone in a
- 19:10world of turmoil and she had to come to grips with, okay?
- 19:14This is not the way it is anymore.
- 19:15So what is the way? And I think a lot of that self
- 19:19growth, we see in Luke because he doesn't really have anyone to
- 19:24show him. He has a couple old text and
- 19:26like Obi-Wan's time with him. Him.
- 19:30But that is cranky. Yoda Force goes.
- 19:32Yeah. And how can I forget Yoda?
- 19:34But you know, that's not a lot. It's not like a whole Council.
- 19:39It's not a whole school. It's not right.
- 19:42And I think a lot of what makes a good Jedi, a great Jedi is
- 19:47just their innate ability to feel the force and they're a
- 19:51good person you know I hate to bring in Marvel but it goes back
- 19:55to the whole like When they told Steve Rogers, we're not looking
- 20:00for a good soldier. We're looking for a good person,
- 20:03right? So is it a good Jedi, or is it a
- 20:06good person that were talking about?
- 20:09What makes a great Jedi? A great person or someone who's
- 20:12great at abiding by these strict rules, right?
- 20:18I mean, personally for myself, I, of course, prefer like a good
- 20:23person who's compassionate and uses their Power for the
- 20:29betterment of those around them. Actually wrote something
- 20:32interesting. I mean, I don't know if it's
- 20:35interesting, I can I say I wrote something interesting.
- 20:38I brought something after reading some stuff on Wikipedia.
- 20:44After I read the three pillars of Jedi strengths are Knowledge,
- 20:49the force and self-discipline. And I wrote like is
- 20:52self-discipline confused with self-denial.
- 20:56Hmm, that's an excellent question.
- 20:59I was doing a little research in like the exact definition of
- 21:04what that would be and I found something that was I thought
- 21:07pretty fascinating, or self-denial is different than
- 21:12like selflessness or the lack of self, it is an act of letting go
- 21:17of this. Of with altruistic abstinence
- 21:21the willingness to forgo Personal Pleasures or undergo
- 21:25personal trials. In Pursuit Of The increased,
- 21:28good of another, so, it's like, If you're really trying to be
- 21:36self-disciplined, I feel like sometimes some of the Jedi, like
- 21:40luminara is a good example, discipline leads to denial.
- 21:47Sometimes I think it's easy to confuse you know it's almost
- 21:52fanatical in a way. Yeah.
- 21:54You cling to something so strongly that you can't see
- 21:57opposing points of view, and it really becomes.
- 22:00It's you know, it's Red vs. Blue, it's Sith versus Jedi
- 22:05instead of like they say, Qui-Gon is kind of like a gray
- 22:08Jedi not because you like, Embraces Sith ideology but
- 22:14because he liked, realizes, there's more than one point of
- 22:16view in the universe. He had a little bit of that
- 22:18Harmony. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:21And I as you were speaking, it made me realize denial versus
- 22:25discipline denial. Let's go back to the diet.
- 22:28Talk denial is I'm not having any cookies ever again sit.
- 22:34That's so sad. Agreed.
- 22:41This thing you do good today. Agreed.
- 22:45Yeah, Star Wars isn't the saddest thing.
- 22:47It's the it's the lack of cookies but hear me out.
- 22:54Denial is zero cookies. Discipline is I'm going to have
- 22:58to I'm going to put them away and I'm going to go about my day
- 23:02now yeah. For Jedi.
- 23:05Denial is I won't have any attachment.
- 23:08I'll have no love. I'm not going to like this
- 23:10person. I'm not going to hate this
- 23:11person. I'm just it's they're up.
- 23:13They are a person period neutrality.
- 23:16Yeah, I'm neutral. But discipline is I like this
- 23:22person. I care about this person, but
- 23:24I'm not going to let that get in the way of what needs to be done
- 23:28or let it overcome my entire life.
- 23:31Like, Anakin did with the thought of padmé dying.
- 23:34Like, yeah, he was great, right up until he was consumed by that
- 23:41and that that is the lack of discipline really.
- 23:47When I would say that Obi-Wan, and Luke are particularly
- 23:50disciplined. Yes, cuz Luke clearly had a lot
- 23:54of attachment and a lot of compassion.
- 23:57I mean, he even had compassion for Darth Vader who blew up his
- 24:02sister's planet. Yes.
- 24:04And like, Ultimately even though he loved Leia in Return of the
- 24:10Jedi, he said, like if I don't come back you carry on without
- 24:13me. I'm not so afraid to lose you
- 24:16that I can't still try to do what's right?
- 24:18Exactly. And that's discipline.
- 24:21And even in the moment of like Temptation in front of the
- 24:23emperor, the discipline was to still find the center come back
- 24:28to himself even though he was, you know, tempted a little bit,
- 24:31there was a moment where you weren't sure, and then he tossed
- 24:34the lightsaber and He gave it up in that in that moment.
- 24:37And if he had not done that, where would we be right?
- 24:40Right, exactly. So I've heard this said before
- 24:44and I'm interested in your opinion on it that some people
- 24:47think George Lucas set up the Jedi, in the prequel trilogy to
- 24:52fail, that the code is designed to actually give them blind
- 24:57spots that Palpatine was then able to take advantage of.
- 25:01And like the whole point was that Luke has attachments.
- 25:05Luke has affection, that's why he succeeds.
- 25:10So what do you think? Do you think that's do you think
- 25:13he intended it to be? Like intended it to fail when he
- 25:19wrote the code. It would make complete sense for
- 25:24him to set it up that way. Yes.
- 25:26Now weather. George had the foresight that it
- 25:31was going to go that direction after you know, the original
- 25:34trilogy was made, I don't know. But It builds a great foundation
- 25:40for lifting Luke up and giving the opportunity to do what he
- 25:46did with his father there at the end of Return of the Jedi.
- 25:49So yeah II. Don't see how it couldn't fail.
- 25:54I don't see how it couldn't fail.
- 25:56I mean, look at the code, I mean and you can say the same about
- 26:00the Sith code to. I mean that's a little overboard
- 26:03as well. There has to be balance.
- 26:05So I, yeah, the stuff that's in the Jedi Code.
- 26:09I just don't see if you don't have balance or the
- 26:13self-disciplined. Like we said, I don't see how it
- 26:15couldn't fail. Yeah, interesting.
- 26:18It's interesting to think about, I mean, have the foresight.
- 26:22I mean, this man had seven movies planned out and 1972,
- 26:26whatever you're right. I mean, I just I'm of the mind
- 26:31that I don't want to speak for the genius, right?
- 26:33But It makes complete sense if he wrote it that way that?
- 26:37Yeah, yeah. Because without knowing
- 26:40anything, if I were to read that be like this, this is a bunch of
- 26:42bullshit. This is failure.
- 26:44This is a piece of failure, this code junk.
- 26:49Okay, so after all of this discussion, What would you say?
- 26:55Makes a great Jedi in your mind. What are the things that you
- 26:59want your perfect Jedi to embody?
- 27:02If you had to pick some and who, who would your perfect Jedi be?
- 27:06Do you have one that you think is perfect?
- 27:09I'd love to hear that, because it's, it's hard to pick, and it
- 27:15depends like we said earlier on the criteria, you're judging by
- 27:19so hmm. Well, do you have an answer?
- 27:23Do I? Yeah, I mean, it's really a tie
- 27:28for Luke and Qui-Gon, because they're so similar Luke.
- 27:32A little more, just because he's Luke and he's adorable.
- 27:37And Qui-Gon just because part of me is quite he is I and I am
- 27:43him. Yeah.
- 27:45I'm not as cranky as he is. But honestly on some days I am
- 27:50and some days. I'm General Grievous.
- 27:54Oh, aren't we all? Aren't we?
- 27:56All my God. I adore him.
- 28:02You too. I just so relate to his piss
- 28:04Enos. Yeah.
- 28:08What about you? I'm pretty much right there with
- 28:11you. I mean, Luke is the clear winner
- 28:14to me but Qui-Gon, excellent. Jedi you could even say that.
- 28:27Kanan was an excellent Jedi. Think of the sacrifice he gave
- 28:32at the end there. I mean, oh my God.
- 28:34That's seen makes me. I fried, I lost my shit in that
- 28:38scene told. I wasn't expecting to feel so
- 28:41much. It was the it was the if you
- 28:43want to talk about it. That's the focus on the eyes.
- 28:45There just is eye contact. We didn't have to show anything
- 28:49else but not to get off topic but, you know, Canon comes from
- 28:52a different school, it's post Republic.
- 28:54He had, you know, he lived through order 66 It.
- 28:58He had a good balance, you had a lot of emotion.
- 29:00He was with Hera he had a Padawan, and he gave the
- 29:04ultimate sacrifice. He didn't let his emotions for
- 29:07Hera, you know? And the entire team get in the
- 29:10way. Yeah, I think that's a really
- 29:13good point. So but also on the flip side, I
- 29:17think Ahsoka is an excellent Jedi because she left the Jedi
- 29:21Order. She saw what was going on?
- 29:23She saw, it was too strict. She saw that they were willing
- 29:26to betray. Ray their own her and she said,
- 29:30I'm out like this, doesn't that makes her an excellent Jedi to
- 29:36me. I agree with you because like
- 29:38the council was so strict in living by the code, but it's
- 29:45ironic because then they would ask people to do really dubious
- 29:48things, like the rako, hardeen aren't the whole of whole lot of
- 29:53He fakes his death and then like by default lies to Anakin
- 29:57crushing him. I mean, it's like that is an
- 30:00immoral thing and then like that and how is Anakin not supposed
- 30:06to react? How would anyone not react to
- 30:08that their best friend, their father figure?
- 30:12They're relying on his reaction to sell it?
- 30:15Yeah, that I thought was Terror that's that's two-faced
- 30:19duplicitous backstabby, type stuff.
- 30:22I mean, It's no wonder and it can had such an issue.
- 30:27You know? And Ahsoka leaving was the final
- 30:29straw cuz she did what he desperately wanted to do but
- 30:33couldn't hmm. Yeah, yeah he was stuck.
- 30:38Kind of I know Star Wars is very sad.
- 30:40Cookie not having cookies all always said but Star Wars is
- 30:44depressing beautiful to as our cookies
- 31:02All right, so last week, we talked about the joy of

- 32:05perfectly with their lightsaber blade?
- 32:07Am I right there is my that's a that's a great but even when you
- 32:11think about it Anakin and Obi-Wan both blue-eyed boys.
- 32:14Yeah. With a blade.

- 34:05Are there any good sitting out there?
- 34:09It's a more complicated question.
