- 0:03Speaker 1: I honestly think to to fuck and be good at it.
- 0:06Speaker 1: It's harder than being good in a relationship because I
- 0:10Speaker 1: can't do both. Baby, if I'm funny, you real good,
- 0:14Speaker 1: let me tell you I'm not cooking, I'm not cleaning,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and then that's where we're at it. Frand do you
- 0:26Speaker 1: do a good sexy baby voice? I mean my sexy
- 0:31Speaker 1: baby voices essentially my Julia Fox impression. You're you know,
- 0:34Speaker 1: She's like, yeah, yeah, can you have a little more
- 0:39Speaker 1: vocal fry to that? That's pretty good and also very
- 0:46Speaker 1: topical because today we are talking about the queen of
- 0:50Speaker 1: baby voices, vocal fry, and social media. We are talking
- 0:54Speaker 1: about Paris Hilton, her impact on pop culture and the
- 0:57Speaker 1: simple life and joining us to do it is a
- 1:00Speaker 1: host of Peak two thousand's Sydney Washington, amazing hilarious comedians
- 1:06Speaker 1: in our podcast role. She's so good at the commentary,
- 1:09Speaker 1: has been on the comedy scene for quite sometime and
- 1:12Speaker 1: is kind of the comedians comedian Like every comedian you
- 1:16Speaker 1: will ever meet, especially in the queer space, loves Sydney
- 1:19Speaker 1: Washington and we love her too, and we're so excited
- 1:22Speaker 1: to deconstruct Harris Hilton Today because this is like a
- 1:25Speaker 1: virgin the show where we give yesterday's pop culture today's takes.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm Rose, damn you, and I'm Fran Toronto. That's hot,
- 1:33Speaker 1: that's hot living. Are you sliving? No? Absolutely not. You're
- 1:41Speaker 1: not slaying and living. Never in my life would I slive.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I saw two movies this week that are in contention
- 1:51Speaker 1: for a Movie of the year. Okay, what were they? Roasts?
- 1:54Speaker 1: So the first one, which is, if I'm being honest,
- 1:58Speaker 1: is what will truly win? It was down Nabby a
- 2:00Speaker 1: new era. I know you're not an I know you're
- 2:05Speaker 1: not a down to Nista. I'm not. I'm not going
- 2:07Speaker 1: to be shady about it, though, thank you. I really
- 2:10Speaker 1: appreciate it. I I would never put disrespect on Dowton Nabby's name. Never.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It was incredible. It was so fun. I remember nothing
- 2:20Speaker 1: from the first Downton Nabby movie and did not finish
- 2:23Speaker 1: the series. I fell off around season four because I'm
- 2:27Speaker 1: a die hard Matthew Girly. Yeah, Matthew dies at the
- 2:31Speaker 1: end of season three. Are there after his child is born?
- 2:35Speaker 1: They're like long episodes, right, and is it like how
- 2:39Speaker 1: many episodes per season? Like twenty six no, no, no,
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's it's it's British TV. So they're always like, even
- 2:46Speaker 1: before American TV was doing ton episode seasons, British TV
- 2:50Speaker 1: was already doing that, so they're pretty sure you can
- 2:52Speaker 1: get through them very quickly. But they usually do a
- 2:55Speaker 1: Christmas special. The Christmas special at the end of season
- 2:59Speaker 1: two Reigns Supreme, that's the one where Mary and Matthew
- 3:04Speaker 1: finally get together, and I do watch it every Christmas.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But the movie was so good, so fun, the girls
- 3:11Speaker 1: were girling, there was gay stuff, there was a trip
- 3:14Speaker 1: to the French riviera. I screamed several times. And then
- 3:20Speaker 1: the other film I saw that could be movie of
- 3:23Speaker 1: the Year is Top Gun Maverick Um. It's a kind
- 3:26Speaker 1: of similar situation and that I was missing crucial info
- 3:30Speaker 1: about the source material, but it was a more glaring
- 3:33Speaker 1: hole because I have never seen the original Top Gun, right,
- 3:36Speaker 1: But we were together the night before at our friend
- 3:39Speaker 1: La Las, and we put on the original Top Gun
- 3:42Speaker 1: and La La fast forwarded through I would say, nine
- 3:46Speaker 1: percent of it, so we could watch cumulatively about two
- 3:49Speaker 1: minutes of so like the volleyball scene, which there is
- 3:56Speaker 1: a call back to in the sequel, but but they
- 4:00Speaker 1: played football, and it's it's as if there is a
- 4:03Speaker 1: watermark across the film that says, no homo on it,
- 4:07Speaker 1: no homo um. Filmed by Bruce weber Um. But it
- 4:13Speaker 1: was so fun. The action was really good. Tom Cruise
- 4:18Speaker 1: was amazing. Jennifer Connolly's hair was disgusting. It was like
- 4:22Speaker 1: the highlights were awful and there were these huge barrel curls.
- 4:26Speaker 1: It was just not right. But everyone in it was
- 4:28Speaker 1: really hot and it did not matter at all that
- 4:31Speaker 1: I did not know what happened in the first one. Okay,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I feel like this is a question for heterosexual culture,
- 4:38Speaker 1: so I don't know why I'm asking it, But like,
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't understand what the hype around this movie is
- 4:43Speaker 1: because Top Gun is like everyone's favorite movie, and I
- 4:48Speaker 1: have no doubt that it's a good movie, but I
- 4:51Speaker 1: just every time I try and watch it, I can't
- 4:54Speaker 1: really latch on. And everyone's saying this sequel is phenomenal,
- 4:57Speaker 1: So like I kind of I kind of want to
- 4:59Speaker 1: go watch it just to hop on. But like when
- 5:01Speaker 1: La La gave us her famed, you know, abridged version
- 5:04Speaker 1: of the movie, um, I I was just like I
- 5:06Speaker 1: was like, no, I still don't know if this is
- 5:08Speaker 1: for me. It's super fun. I don't think you specifically
- 5:12Speaker 1: need to see it in theaters, but I think six
- 5:15Speaker 1: months from now, watch it on a plane. You have
- 5:18Speaker 1: a great time. Okay, Yeah, it's a plane movie. It's
- 5:21Speaker 1: a plane movie. It's well, it's literally a movie about planes.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Would be perfect to watch on a flight. You know,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I must call you and I must call you in
- 5:31Speaker 1: You've named two movies that were contenders for Movie of
- 5:34Speaker 1: the Year, and yet we saw another movie together this
- 5:38Speaker 1: week that you did not include, and that is Fire Island,
- 5:42Speaker 1: which is coming out on third You're right, and that
- 5:46Speaker 1: I did not name, not as movie of the Year
- 5:49Speaker 1: when I was going to call it movie of the Summer,
- 5:52Speaker 1: which is sary different thing of the millennium, of the millennium.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Jolkin Booster is sitting at home right now listening to
- 6:00Speaker 1: this podcast in the shower. Yeah you look so hot
- 6:03Speaker 1: right now, Joel. Fine, because Tom Cruise is actually in
- 6:06Speaker 1: the shower with Joel sucking him off, not his fan fiction.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yes, fran and I had the extreme privilege
- 6:16Speaker 1: and pleasure of going to a special advanced screening of
- 6:19Speaker 1: Fire Island last week at the Director's Guild of America
- 6:23Speaker 1: in a very large theater filled with fagot filled with gays.
- 6:26Speaker 1: We were not sure we were at the location, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: then we saw a couple of miss Honeys strutting across sunset,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and I knew we were in the right place. But
- 6:36Speaker 1: we saw the film and it was I think the
- 6:39Speaker 1: first time the cast had seen it in a theater
- 6:41Speaker 1: full of people, which was another privilege. Yes, and also
- 6:45Speaker 1: the cast was there was great to see, you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: the girls Joel Matt Bowen Fran did not know that
- 6:52Speaker 1: it's a Pride and Prejudice adaptation, No I did, I did,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I did, but maybe the virgins do. Um. Fire Island
- 7:00Speaker 1: is is um, you know, a new take on Pride
- 7:03Speaker 1: and Prejudice, written by Joel Can Booster who also plays
- 7:06Speaker 1: the lead. He and his group of you know, good
- 7:10Speaker 1: judies go to Fire Island every summer to stay with
- 7:13Speaker 1: their you know mother figure played by Margaret cho and
- 7:17Speaker 1: there's a lot of you know, romcom shenanigans. It was
- 7:21Speaker 1: delish and I, you know, I did know as a
- 7:24Speaker 1: Pride and Prejudice adaptation, but I had not revisited Pride
- 7:27Speaker 1: and Prejudice. The movie in life, so I couldn't really
- 7:31Speaker 1: remember any of the different characters, and I actually need
- 7:34Speaker 1: to watch the care a version tonight TVH. But I
- 7:36Speaker 1: have to say down the line, Joel a leading man.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I was swept away, sexy, charismatic, leading man, had amazing
- 7:49Speaker 1: chemistry with his co star who is the guy from
- 7:52Speaker 1: How to Get Away with Murder but also a flawed character,
- 7:57Speaker 1: a character that you kind of see flaws in and
- 7:59Speaker 1: you're not sure if they're going to be reconciled, and
- 8:02Speaker 1: then there they come to fruition in a really beautiful way.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Then Bowen was phenomenal. Bowen was Bowen is going to
- 8:11Speaker 1: be a movie star. They're all going to be there
- 8:14Speaker 1: to bear by. I was so moved by Bowen's performance.
- 8:18Speaker 1: He was funny, he was so vulnerable. His scenes were
- 8:23Speaker 1: definitely some of the more emotional ones. He and Joel
- 8:27Speaker 1: their their real life friendship translated so well into their
- 8:32Speaker 1: on screen relationship. Um and then Matt Roger's friend of
- 8:38Speaker 1: this podcast, who was on last week. If you haven't listened,
- 8:41Speaker 1: please go do Um like stole every scene he was
- 8:45Speaker 1: in CHEW. I mean, did not miss a moment to
- 8:52Speaker 1: make every line count, make get every laugh. He was
- 8:56Speaker 1: so funny, and matt se partner Tamas Matos, was just
- 9:02Speaker 1: like so fun They were these kind of two like
- 9:06Speaker 1: gay idiots that are like always in your friend group. Obviously,
- 9:09Speaker 1: Margaret Trow was phenomenal. I wish that I had like
- 9:13Speaker 1: a matriarch of my Fire Island house like her. The
- 9:16Speaker 1: villain of this movie Hilarious is exactly to fill in
- 9:22Speaker 1: exactly the villain you want out of a movie called
- 9:24Speaker 1: Fire Island like that was so well done. And then, honestly,
- 9:29Speaker 1: James Scully, the heart throb of the movie and Bowen's
- 9:33Speaker 1: kind of romantic interest, plays this character that, like on paper,
- 9:38Speaker 1: is someone that like I don't want to funk with,
- 9:40Speaker 1: like someone who is emotionally manipulating me or taking me
- 9:44Speaker 1: for granted, or I have so many reasons to hate
- 9:47Speaker 1: this character, and James forces you to fall in love
- 9:52Speaker 1: with this person with his gooey puppy dog eyes. I mean,
- 9:56Speaker 1: speaking of heart throbs. Conrad Rick Amorra, who plays Foles
- 9:59Speaker 1: love interest, I thought was an excellent Mr Darcy so
- 10:04Speaker 1: very cold, but you know his scenes with Joel especially,
- 10:07Speaker 1: there's one scene where they're dancing together at the underwear party,
- 10:10Speaker 1: which is like very hot. And this movie does the
- 10:14Speaker 1: thing that I was the most interested to see how
- 10:17Speaker 1: the movie would do, which was capture the essence of
- 10:21Speaker 1: Fire Island as a place and make it into a
- 10:26Speaker 1: character in and in and of itself. Like, I don't
- 10:30Speaker 1: think you can call a movie fire Island unless you
- 10:33Speaker 1: really feel the presence of the location. And as people
- 10:37Speaker 1: who have spent a lot of time there, I think
- 10:39Speaker 1: like we can comfortably say that Joel and the director
- 10:44Speaker 1: did such an amazing job of letting people who have
- 10:49Speaker 1: been in that space, like I feel like they're in
- 10:52Speaker 1: on the joke and like they're seeing like a real
- 10:56Speaker 1: version of what that place is like. And also I
- 11:01Speaker 1: think capturing in a way that people who have never
- 11:03Speaker 1: been there will will very much get the vibe. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 1: And like, you know, if I didn't know anybody in
- 11:09Speaker 1: this movie, like I would probably look at the Fire
- 11:12Speaker 1: Island promo and be like a whole movie about Fire Islands,
- 11:16Speaker 1: Like there's no I can trust that this is going
- 11:18Speaker 1: to be done in a way that I'm going to enjoy,
- 11:21Speaker 1: to be honest, but like this movie perfectly encapsulates the
- 11:25Speaker 1: fact that there are two different kinds of trips. You
- 11:28Speaker 1: can have on the island, and one of them is
- 11:30Speaker 1: filled with you know, whiteness and body fascism and elitism
- 11:35Speaker 1: and like really toxic standards of like how you fuck
- 11:40Speaker 1: people and stuff like that. And then the other is like,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know, nice dinner around like a cozy little environment
- 11:47Speaker 1: where women are present, you know, like God forbid. Like
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, I went to High Tops after the screening
- 11:55Speaker 1: to chat with like Joel and Bowen and Matt and
- 11:57Speaker 1: like all the folks that had gone after, and we
- 12:00Speaker 1: were talking about that kind of just like bizarre thing
- 12:03Speaker 1: that happens on the island where we all just become
- 12:07Speaker 1: worm brained and like fixated on like fucking for no reason.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And it's kind of like it creates this really like
- 12:15Speaker 1: hideous kind of mindset. Um. And I I feel like
- 12:19Speaker 1: um when every time I've gone to Fire Island, I've
- 12:22Speaker 1: gone with all of my faggot friends. We like go
- 12:24Speaker 1: in heels, like general conforming swimsuits, and like we like
- 12:29Speaker 1: kind of you know, break our way into like grinder
- 12:32Speaker 1: parties and like places we don't really want to be in,
- 12:34Speaker 1: but it's fun to just go and take up space
- 12:36Speaker 1: even if we don't belong. And I never really thought
- 12:40Speaker 1: that I personally was going to be represented by this movie,
- 12:43Speaker 1: and I really did feel that. Also complete side note,
- 12:46Speaker 1: High Tops has amazing food. I cannot stress enough that
- 12:52Speaker 1: High Tops in West Hollywood has hand dipped corn dogs,
- 12:56Speaker 1: trays of nachos that could feed this country. Okay, will
- 13:00Speaker 1: Caesar salad that has Marcona almonds, which is the most
- 13:03Speaker 1: expensive almond that money can buy. Rows it is cannot
- 13:07Speaker 1: cannot wait for the Fire Island sequel West Hollywood, and
- 13:11Speaker 1: it's Fay Tops is prominently prominent location. You know. I
- 13:15Speaker 1: think we still don't know what the song in the
- 13:17Speaker 1: Summer is going to be, but one contender is definitely
- 13:20Speaker 1: the new Rena say Alma song This Hell, which is
- 13:23Speaker 1: like country vibes. Joanne Goes to the Underworld. Joanne Goes
- 13:29Speaker 1: the Underworld. That's a really good seal. Yes. Oh, also
- 13:33Speaker 1: drag Race Frand and I watched it together on Friday,
- 13:36Speaker 1: which I think will be the last time we watched
- 13:38Speaker 1: together for a while because she's about to go to
- 13:41Speaker 1: New York for a month, sad for me. The main
- 13:44Speaker 1: takeaway of this episode, even though I am enjoying this
- 13:48Speaker 1: season of television, is that it's really hard to watch
- 13:52Speaker 1: the judges be completely barred from making a negative critique.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It is insane. It's really are old me saying complimentary
- 14:02Speaker 1: things barely even anything that is a borderline constructive criticism. Yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and I just like I get it, I get it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: It's an all winner season. I'm sure it was part
- 14:16Speaker 1: of why these queens even said yes, is they were
- 14:19Speaker 1: told that they would not be dragged for their performance.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But it is it just feels like so dissonant because
- 14:30Speaker 1: some people are not performing. Well, yeah, some people aren't.
- 14:34Speaker 1: And like I, you know, I don't need to see
- 14:36Speaker 1: these girls get taken down. I just want to hear
- 14:39Speaker 1: the judges say what's on their mind. And I feel
- 14:41Speaker 1: like you can give a negative critique while still being constructive.
- 14:46Speaker 1: But honestly, I need to get on the reddit boards
- 14:48Speaker 1: because I feel like it must have taken a lot
- 14:50Speaker 1: to convince the judges that they're not allowed to make
- 14:53Speaker 1: negative critiques, Like that's insane. Well you have fun on
- 14:56Speaker 1: the drag race reddit boards. That's the place I would
- 14:59Speaker 1: truly rather I I'm really to be honest, I'm not
- 15:02Speaker 1: gonna do it. I'm just gonna make Justin do it.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Our our friend Justin really is the Reddit board queen
- 15:07Speaker 1: and and he'll fetch information and bring it back to me.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But speaking of conspiracy theories, I finished the new season
- 15:14Speaker 1: of Stranger Things finished, finished how many hours? It's because
- 15:21Speaker 1: I had watched the first four episodes like three months ago,
- 15:26Speaker 1: because I had access to them at work obviously, and
- 15:31Speaker 1: very fun season. I do like, I get splitting them
- 15:37Speaker 1: and the need for a cliffhanger. Um, but it's still
- 15:41Speaker 1: just like at the end of the season, did feel like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: Oh no, I wanted one. I wanted one more. I
- 15:47Speaker 1: wanted a little bit more wrapping up than what we got.
- 15:50Speaker 1: But we only have to wait until July, I think
- 15:53Speaker 1: for part two of season four. Also, France hasn't gotten
- 15:57Speaker 1: there yet. You've only watched the first two episodes, but um,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but will you at least know that in the first episode,
- 16:02Speaker 1: Max is listening to Kate Bush. Yes, this does a
- 16:06Speaker 1: Kate Bush moment return, Oh honey, don't. This is a
- 16:11Speaker 1: spoiler free conversation. Spoiler free conversation, but I will just
- 16:14Speaker 1: say this, Kate Bush is so powerful. This is something
- 16:19Speaker 1: we have always known to be true, and it is
- 16:22Speaker 1: amazing to see it confirmed on on television. It's so
- 16:25Speaker 1: boring to like talk about how good this show is,
- 16:28Speaker 1: but like I will say that, like I am continually
- 16:32Speaker 1: blown away by how cinematic and like the theatrical quality
- 16:39Speaker 1: that every single episode brings. This season is really scary,
- 16:43Speaker 1: though like it's not it's not scary, okay, okay, babe.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But in terms of if if the if the Virgins cant,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I have not found it scary, and I think this
- 16:53Speaker 1: is important context for the Virgins. If you are a
- 16:56Speaker 1: Rose stranger, things really not that scary. But if you
- 16:59Speaker 1: are a Ran and your threshold of scariness is maybe
- 17:03Speaker 1: slightly lower, if not a lot lower, I will say
- 17:06Speaker 1: that this is a really really graphic, spooky, spooky season.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I I mean, like every season is there are definitely
- 17:15Speaker 1: there are thrills and chills, and all of every season
- 17:18Speaker 1: brings thrills and chills, But for some reason, I never
- 17:20Speaker 1: remember that. I always just remember like the action sequences
- 17:24Speaker 1: and how like kind of heartwar member body knows exactly,
- 17:29Speaker 1: which by the way, Millie is like God, her character
- 17:33Speaker 1: is breaking my heart over and over again. Oh um.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I was gonna say the lesbian character got a slightly
- 17:38Speaker 1: slightly more lesbian haircut, which I appreciate. Um, I it
- 17:42Speaker 1: could be more like, it could be choppier. And did
- 17:45Speaker 1: you notice that the girl that she has a crush
- 17:47Speaker 1: on is and from and with an E fuck off
- 17:52Speaker 1: with the funk all the way off? Did you notice
- 17:54Speaker 1: that there was that one cop um in the second episode?
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think that was played by that the guy from
- 18:01Speaker 1: Search Party. Yes, the lead from Search Party. I think
- 18:04Speaker 1: he has been the for the whole show. Oh he
- 18:06Speaker 1: has been. He was phenomenal. I I he he fits
- 18:09Speaker 1: so perfectly into like a thrills and chills genre. I
- 18:13Speaker 1: love thrills and chills, Mama, That's what the summer is
- 18:16Speaker 1: all about. Also, um, some personal news moment um, I
- 18:23Speaker 1: recently left my job at Netflix. Um. I've been working
- 18:27Speaker 1: there for a little over two years doing l g
- 18:30Speaker 1: B t Q plus audience work, and now I'm excited
- 18:36Speaker 1: to just like be me a full time I guess
- 18:40Speaker 1: free agent. Yeah, so um, you know, obviously still doing
- 18:45Speaker 1: this podcast, but like I I think for the first
- 18:47Speaker 1: time in a while, am open up to a lot
- 18:50Speaker 1: of new opportunities, whether that's like writing for TV, maybe
- 18:55Speaker 1: like doing a column somewhere, working on a book. So
- 18:59Speaker 1: I will say that to anyone listening. If you work
- 19:02Speaker 1: in any of those worlds, Um, my d M s
- 19:06Speaker 1: are open. I'm sure you could figure out a way
- 19:08Speaker 1: to email me or contact me, um and feel free
- 19:12Speaker 1: to do so. Yes, higher, Rose, actually hire both of us.
- 19:15Speaker 1: To hire both of us, hire both. We're writing partners.
- 19:18Speaker 1: We're a package deal. You can't hire one without the other.
- 19:21Speaker 1: That's how it goes. You're like, I don't know, but
- 19:25Speaker 1: I don't know about that. Um. Yeah, So in case,
- 19:27Speaker 1: in case, any virgin has been listening to the past,
- 19:29Speaker 1: like however, you know thirty whatever episodes and you've been
- 19:32Speaker 1: wondering why we almost never talk about Netflix intellectual property,
- 19:36Speaker 1: now you know? Um yeah, Rose, that's really it. Rose
- 19:39Speaker 1: quit so that she could talk about stranger things on
- 19:42Speaker 1: the podcast I did. I was really the only I
- 19:45Speaker 1: need to get to freely say something nice about stranger things. Yes, seriously,
- 19:52Speaker 1: say something actually very complimentary about like how is it's
- 19:55Speaker 1: a great season of television? Um. I just have to say,
- 19:59Speaker 1: as someone who has quit their job three times in
- 20:02Speaker 1: a very dramatic way, with no job to land on,
- 20:07Speaker 1: to be a freelance girl, to follow your dreams and aspirations,
- 20:11Speaker 1: I have never in my life regretted it. If you
- 20:15Speaker 1: are sitting at home and thinking about quitting your job,
- 20:19Speaker 1: do it, like I. I cannot recommend it enough. Work sucks,
- 20:24Speaker 1: Every job sucks. We were not born to work, we
- 20:28Speaker 1: were born to live, and being your own boss is
- 20:31Speaker 1: like the only way to do life period. Like I
- 20:35Speaker 1: every time I've quit my job, it has been phenomenally hard.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It's been difficult. It's been like, you know, on the
- 20:41Speaker 1: money level, on the work ethic level, on you know,
- 20:45Speaker 1: the mental health level, in every different terrain. It's really
- 20:48Speaker 1: really hard. But I've never regretted it. And um yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I just have to say I'm so proud of you, Rose,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and I hope that you're a model uh for everyone
- 21:00Speaker 1: else on here to to to do the thing that
- 21:03Speaker 1: you love, which is never report to anyone. Could never
- 21:08Speaker 1: be on slack ever again, Yes, or I could just
- 21:10Speaker 1: be a model if you need me for a Pride campaign,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I know, getting it in at the last minute, but
- 21:16Speaker 1: I am available. The great resignation has begun. I will
- 21:21Speaker 1: predict for Pride actually that there are going to be
- 21:23Speaker 1: a lot of post Pride campaigns, Like I think the
- 21:26Speaker 1: girls are going to be launching things July one and
- 21:29Speaker 1: they're gonna be I think the corporations are going to
- 21:31Speaker 1: be like, we celebrate Pride sixty five days a year.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Here's our campaign, blah blah blah. Like that's my kind
- 21:38Speaker 1: of like trend alert for the summer. You have a
- 21:54Speaker 1: podcast about early odds culture and who is more of
- 21:57Speaker 1: a patron saint of the early odds than Paris Hilton
- 22:01Speaker 1: and kind of to blame for most of the things
- 22:04Speaker 1: currently wrong with our society. Absolutely, But I don't think
- 22:08Speaker 1: she was thinking about that at the at the time.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I think she was truly being an icon by being
- 22:13Speaker 1: herself in all totality, like she's I'm doing anything and
- 22:17Speaker 1: everything that's going to make sure that I'm at the
- 22:20Speaker 1: top and that people are gonna be talking about me
- 22:22Speaker 1: and people are gonna know I'm going to have like
- 22:24Speaker 1: an empire. So she did the damn thing. Was your
- 22:27Speaker 1: entryway into her the simple life? Yes? Yes, I did.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I really really. It's annoying, like on paper, it's like
- 22:37Speaker 1: these rich girls have to do normal people things and
- 22:40Speaker 1: be with the pores. That's gross. But they were funny
- 22:45Speaker 1: and they were they were and they understood the assignment
- 22:49Speaker 1: and they weren't like rude about it, and they're like, listen,
- 22:52Speaker 1: this is gonna be for everybody. And they were very
- 22:54Speaker 1: much themselves but also hilarious. So we can't be mad
- 22:58Speaker 1: at that. We just we can't. And I didn't grow
- 23:00Speaker 1: up watching it, but like The Simple Life really was
- 23:03Speaker 1: like a product of like reality TV at that time,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and you were saying, like, on paper, this is really gross.
- 23:08Speaker 1: But like when he came out, like no one was
- 23:10Speaker 1: thinking about like classes or thinking about like whiteness, white women,
- 23:14Speaker 1: like in the way that we talk about them now,
- 23:16Speaker 1: And like, I think that there is a world where
- 23:18Speaker 1: in like something like The Simple Life could exist in
- 23:20Speaker 1: you know, twenties, but like not in the way that
- 23:24Speaker 1: they were doing it. You know, would have to be commenting.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I don't I think either people for it to have
- 23:31Speaker 1: worked when it did, they had a type of self
- 23:35Speaker 1: awareness that allowed them to do the bullshit that they did.
- 23:39Speaker 1: But also they're like, I'm not going to be like
- 23:42Speaker 1: out of out of control like a chet Hanks or whatever, like,
- 23:46Speaker 1: but if we do it now, people are too woke,
- 23:49Speaker 1: so even there to work where there there's no self
- 23:51Speaker 1: awareness and the whole time, and it won't and you
- 23:55Speaker 1: could just tell when things are curated and not like
- 23:59Speaker 1: it doesn't just roll off their time, because Harris and
- 24:01Speaker 1: Nicole were very much willing to um, they were in
- 24:05Speaker 1: on the joke, They were willing to be the joke,
- 24:07Speaker 1: and they definitely were willing to laugh at themselves, which
- 24:09Speaker 1: is they look very stupid and a lot of the
- 24:12Speaker 1: show absolutely and they like I think that Harris Nicole's
- 24:15Speaker 1: self awareness actually evaded a lot of people, Like a
- 24:18Speaker 1: lot of people thought that they were genuinely dumb and
- 24:21Speaker 1: like even like, um, like I remember, like I was,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I can't remember what clip I was watching, but like
- 24:26Speaker 1: people you know what I mean, Like because they weren't that.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I mean, I think that you know, they're both probably
- 24:31Speaker 1: a little dumb, but like I think that when they
- 24:33Speaker 1: want watching this back, didn't realize that it's like a
- 24:35Speaker 1: full character, and like Harris kind of did because I
- 24:38Speaker 1: feel like in recent years she has talked more about
- 24:41Speaker 1: how she was playing a character. Although maybe that's like
- 24:44Speaker 1: a bit of Rhett Conning. Yeah no, that's that's her
- 24:47Speaker 1: publicists telling like that, that's her whole team, Like no, no, no, no,
- 24:50Speaker 1: they it was a bit. It was a bit like
- 24:52Speaker 1: nobody knew about bits back then. I also think it
- 24:55Speaker 1: does help that in the when the first season came out,
- 24:57Speaker 1: they were not extremely famous like they were. You know,
- 25:01Speaker 1: obviously these very privileged women going into this situation. But
- 25:06Speaker 1: it's not like if I worked on a farm today
- 25:09Speaker 1: and they sent I don't know who is the like
- 25:12Speaker 1: Addison Ray, and I was like, I just saw you
- 25:14Speaker 1: on TikTok and now you're at my farm. It wasn't
- 25:16Speaker 1: so here's the Obviously Paris is like the primordial influencer,
- 25:19Speaker 1: but like, I actually feel like she was more of
- 25:23Speaker 1: a I think that what she was famous for right
- 25:25Speaker 1: before The Simple Life was a lot of like New
- 25:27Speaker 1: York socialite stuff like Kelly ben Simone era, like who
- 25:30Speaker 1: else was like a New York socialite type, And because
- 25:33Speaker 1: like New York socialites, I just think of early real
- 25:35Speaker 1: house life of New York kind of because New York
- 25:38Speaker 1: socialites that was like an era that doesn't really exist.
- 25:41Speaker 1: It was actual, but like people don't write about socialites
- 25:48Speaker 1: the way they used to. Like socialites in New York
- 25:50Speaker 1: used to be these kind of like nano influencer types
- 25:52Speaker 1: that everyone knew about, at least at the metropolitan level,
- 25:55Speaker 1: but they were not like famous, No. I think what
- 25:58Speaker 1: Blue Paris up was. She did a photo shoot with
- 26:03Speaker 1: in her grandma's house and it was, I mean, the
- 26:07Speaker 1: clothes non existent, the makeup, hair, I mean tracks showing
- 26:13Speaker 1: like it was, oh my god, the hair extension incredibly clocky.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But but I love that because it was they were like,
- 26:26Speaker 1: we are not perfect. We don't want to be perfect.
- 26:28Speaker 1: The eyeline, eyeliner is going to be smudge. I mean,
- 26:31Speaker 1: the die job not that good. The artifice was the point.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And let me tell you, Spoiled Princess, like low rise
- 26:39Speaker 1: brat Stall aesthetic is now like that. It is like
- 26:42Speaker 1: fully the aesthetic you know it is, but you're also
- 26:45Speaker 1: looking at them like girl, but it's they're not They're
- 26:50Speaker 1: not owning it. It looks like a costume. But like
- 26:53Speaker 1: then it actually felt like a vibe We're gonna walk,
- 26:58Speaker 1: We're gonna rock this all day. This is not just
- 27:00Speaker 1: for a particular party. This is the look for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Early as mid drift culture was like a full moment,
- 27:11Speaker 1: like every single celebrity at the time had like the
- 27:14Speaker 1: little like inch and a half of like you know,
- 27:16Speaker 1: middrift showing mid drift, but we're doing belly button rings. Um.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And at that time people could actually have like hips,
- 27:24Speaker 1: like wide hips, and like the stomach's just looked real.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I just felt like I was so close to being
- 27:31Speaker 1: one of those girls, even though we're not in the
- 27:33Speaker 1: same like class or socio economic status or whatever. I
- 27:38Speaker 1: felt like I could dress like Paris and Nicole and
- 27:42Speaker 1: almost be like two steps away from being them. Harris
- 27:44Speaker 1: and Nicole were wearing like juicy guitar, which like you
- 27:47Speaker 1: could go to the mall and buy, and were they
- 27:49Speaker 1: wearing Abercrombie and Fitch theah, oh my god. I uh
- 27:55Speaker 1: so you were talking about how like you were drawn
- 27:56Speaker 1: to the aesthetic when you first started watching. Is there
- 27:58Speaker 1: anything else about Simple or just Paris Hilton in general
- 28:01Speaker 1: that you were like drawn to or you remember kind
- 28:03Speaker 1: of connecting with. Well, it was it was also like
- 28:05Speaker 1: the friendship too, because it was like Paris by herself,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you like, Paris is the bitch, but Paris next to Nicole, Oh,
- 28:13Speaker 1: actually she's not really a bit. You know. They bring
- 28:16Speaker 1: out they bring out like really good sides of each other.
- 28:20Speaker 1: They do like Sillin Bill the like son of Song
- 28:23Speaker 1: Song and those are my favorite moments of the show
- 28:26Speaker 1: when they were like teaming up and you know, they
- 28:30Speaker 1: were it was like them on one side in the
- 28:32Speaker 1: world on the other it wasn't. It was just like that.
- 28:36Speaker 1: You can see that in any type of like friendship vibe,
- 28:41Speaker 1: you know, like there's always the one that's more alpha,
- 28:43Speaker 1: and then there's another one that's like, Okay, I kind
- 28:45Speaker 1: of do whatever you want me to do. And I
- 28:47Speaker 1: even though at that time I didn't have like a
- 28:50Speaker 1: best friend like Paris, I kind of went into college
- 28:54Speaker 1: like hoping that I would find my Paris. Did you
- 28:59Speaker 1: know I was a smotor I was one of those
- 29:01Speaker 1: people that just couldn't stick to one group. I guess
- 29:04Speaker 1: I always wondered with Harrison Nicole and you know, their
- 29:07Speaker 1: their feud is a huge part of the legacy of
- 29:09Speaker 1: their friendship was how much of it was real and
- 29:12Speaker 1: how much of it was. Like they cast Paris and
- 29:15Speaker 1: they were like, do you have a friend who would
- 29:16Speaker 1: work for this? And she picked Nicole, and then she
- 29:21Speaker 1: had another there was Nicole wasn't first pick. She was
- 29:24Speaker 1: the first pick. Kimberly Stewart. Kimberly Kimberly Stewart that, yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 1: she really Kimberly Stewart. She was supposed to be with
- 29:36Speaker 1: Kimberly Stewart, and she also asked other people and they
- 29:39Speaker 1: were like no, thank you, And finally it was like, Okay,
- 29:43Speaker 1: I guess I'll do Nicole. And Nicole was the mood
- 29:46Speaker 1: at that time, and he was like, yeah, she was
- 29:48Speaker 1: just like this badass, like, yeah, I'm not really doing
- 29:51Speaker 1: my hair, I'm not the skinniest. Well, she was definitely
- 29:55Speaker 1: the more active of them because she was the one
- 29:57Speaker 1: who always got them into the trouble. And then Harris
- 30:00Speaker 1: was just like a little lazy even like she kind
- 30:05Speaker 1: of had a lazy character. Yeah. One of my favorite
- 30:07Speaker 1: moments of the first season is they go out to
- 30:09Speaker 1: a bar and they each find like a boy to
- 30:11Speaker 1: make out with, and like the boys are probably under
- 30:13Speaker 1: age and it's probably not a celebrate and Nicole is
- 30:18Speaker 1: making up with this boy and she like comes up
- 30:19Speaker 1: her Aaron goes, you smell like onion. You have like
- 30:24Speaker 1: a favorite scene from earlier Simple Life seasons or favorite
- 30:28Speaker 1: like sticks. When they were at Sonics Salty Animals Burgers,
- 30:33Speaker 1: Salty Animal Burgers, Wait, give me the content, they had
- 30:36Speaker 1: to like put they had to do the sign um,
- 30:39Speaker 1: and they wrote salty Anal Burgers and I just was like,
- 30:43Speaker 1: first of all, Sonic is like supposed to be like
- 30:45Speaker 1: a home like family restaurant or whatever, drying Yeah, and
- 30:51Speaker 1: for them to put that on there at that time
- 30:54Speaker 1: was such a big deal because it's like who's first
- 30:56Speaker 1: of all, who's talking about No one needs to know.
- 31:00Speaker 1: No one's saying you know, they're like but or maybe
- 31:02Speaker 1: even asked. But I mean, they really did not give
- 31:06Speaker 1: a damn and no one was saying any Basically, they
- 31:13Speaker 1: pretty much they CEO of an absolutely. So I really
- 31:19Speaker 1: just enjoyed watching them work there and then being so bad,
- 31:23Speaker 1: like they were so bad like putting the French fries
- 31:26Speaker 1: and it was just like get them out of here.
- 31:29Speaker 1: They should not be working and they weren't. Although although
- 31:34Speaker 1: although I mean, the thing the thing with Paris is
- 31:36Speaker 1: like everyone always said she's famous for being famous. She
- 31:39Speaker 1: doesn't have a job, um, but she is. She does
- 31:42Speaker 1: have this huge empire that when The Simple Life came out,
- 31:46Speaker 1: she very intentionally built. She was doing movies. She was
- 31:51Speaker 1: in that movie House of Wax movie that's sex tape. Yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 1: Like that's the real thing. When we paint the kind
- 31:59Speaker 1: of like timeline of Paris. It was New York socialite
- 32:02Speaker 1: after being a Hilton photos and then I think sex tape.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Sex tape was before and then simple I mean the
- 32:09Speaker 1: sex tape was leaked. She didn't have anything to do
- 32:12Speaker 1: with it. It was literally sexual assault. And she talks
- 32:15Speaker 1: about it being like very traumic. It wasn't. It wasn't
- 32:17Speaker 1: the move at the time, like you know sex tapes
- 32:20Speaker 1: where there was a little train of preceded. Kim's right, Yeah, well,
- 32:25Speaker 1: I mean Paris proceeded Kim. Paris is the reason we
- 32:28Speaker 1: have Kim because Kim was her, her bestie. She organized
- 32:32Speaker 1: her closets. Yeah, which Kim, we have to shout at
- 32:36Speaker 1: her out for the long game. She's very Kim is
- 32:40Speaker 1: very l a. She's like, I know how to social climb,
- 32:43Speaker 1: I know how to be in the right crowds and
- 32:46Speaker 1: circles or whatever, and I'm going to move. I'm going
- 32:48Speaker 1: to be moving my pieces so that when I get
- 32:51Speaker 1: to where I need to go, I won't either anymore.
- 32:53Speaker 1: She's playing four d hs. Are you a Kardashian fan, No,
- 32:58Speaker 1: I am not a Kardashian fan, but you do have
- 33:02Speaker 1: to give them their props because when people say, oh,
- 33:07Speaker 1: they don't do anything, that's a fucking lie. Like how
- 33:10Speaker 1: could you say that someone's not doing Like how could
- 33:12Speaker 1: you say that Paris Hilton is famous for being famous,
- 33:15Speaker 1: Like that is actually work, It's an empire. I would
- 33:18Speaker 1: love to see you try to be famous for a
- 33:20Speaker 1: fucking day because there are plenty of people who get
- 33:23Speaker 1: you know, who get the spotlight for a second and
- 33:26Speaker 1: don't do anything with it. And these are all people
- 33:28Speaker 1: who the spotlight was turned on them and they grabbed
- 33:32Speaker 1: onto it and held it there and have been holding
- 33:34Speaker 1: it there for decades. They have not let up at all.
- 33:37Speaker 1: They have not really even taken any breaks. Maybe Paris,
- 33:40Speaker 1: but the Kardashian clan has not taken taken a break.
- 33:44Speaker 1: There has not been a year where they're off bus club,
- 33:48Speaker 1: another club, no sleep, many different extensions of the round. Yes,
- 33:53Speaker 1: I mean which Paris also did? I think she in
- 33:56Speaker 1: addition to movies, she had fragrances, she had amused a career,
- 34:00Speaker 1: which is like Connect the Stars, Stars is blind is
- 34:05Speaker 1: one of those songs that you're like, this is not good. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 1: yeah good. I disagree. I think it's great. It was.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I think it was ahead of its time, because I
- 34:14Speaker 1: think I'm gonna need Phoebe. It's not good, it's so good.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Here's what I think. I think that the production value
- 34:22Speaker 1: was very celebrity wants to be a singer algorithm music.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I will agree with you on the taste level being
- 34:29Speaker 1: kind of um synthetic and therefore like not up to
- 34:33Speaker 1: the quality level maybe of some music that was coming
- 34:36Speaker 1: out at that time. However, that synthetic, you know, quality
- 34:41Speaker 1: I think has appreciated in value in the twenties because
- 34:45Speaker 1: we all now want to listen to CYNTHI pop songs
- 34:50Speaker 1: like that. It was ahead of its time. Nothing in
- 34:53Speaker 1: this world is a fucking bob and it's I think
- 34:57Speaker 1: that's what we're going to say in the pot. I agree,
- 34:59Speaker 1: I I unfortunately agree, But I also why unfortunately stand
- 35:03Speaker 1: in your true yes, because I kind of agree with
- 35:05Speaker 1: you too, Sydney. I think I think that there it
- 35:08Speaker 1: definitely is kind of I mean, it's it's full auto tune. Yes,
- 35:12Speaker 1: it is Cynthia engineering. Hold on, it's auto tune and
- 35:16Speaker 1: it's still bad. It's it's still like if you're doing
- 35:19Speaker 1: studio voice and the studio voice is still like damn,
- 35:23Speaker 1: you all need to turn it a little bit more
- 35:24Speaker 1: because still it still sounds of how she was working.
- 35:31Speaker 1: She was working with the right producers. I think I
- 35:34Speaker 1: think she was not aware at the time of why
- 35:37Speaker 1: what she was making was good. I think at the
- 35:39Speaker 1: time like it was joking it was a cash but
- 35:43Speaker 1: the music video, but it was an investment that has
- 35:46Speaker 1: appreciated in value. The same thing with Lindsay doing rumors
- 35:50Speaker 1: like that's a song that was like kind of bad
- 35:52Speaker 1: and now no no no, no, no no no No's
- 35:56Speaker 1: husband rumors, bossy and daughter to confessions, daughter father, come
- 36:03Speaker 1: on her wig and daughter father? Is that whole album is?
- 36:07Speaker 1: We don't who cares about the wig, It's about the
- 36:10Speaker 1: music album cover where it's like her back us broken
- 36:19Speaker 1: heart no wait. And I also want to say the
- 36:22Speaker 1: thing about like, um, like being a celebrity and staying
- 36:25Speaker 1: on people's next or whatever, like you could just tell
- 36:28Speaker 1: the difference between somebody like the Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan,
- 36:32Speaker 1: like Mama had to take a couple of breaks, Like
- 36:35Speaker 1: it's it's not easy to like stay in the limelight
- 36:38Speaker 1: and then not have like some type of addiction or
- 36:41Speaker 1: just you know, then you got to go to Dubai
- 36:42Speaker 1: and allegedly like you yeah, like or in the case
- 36:47Speaker 1: of Paras Hilton, you briefly support Donald Trump. You know
- 36:50Speaker 1: what I mean. It's like, oh, I guess I'll disappear
- 36:52Speaker 1: for a year and you know, like really does happen? Yeah? Yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 1: so did that too. Yeah. So the fact that the
- 36:59Speaker 1: Kardashians doing something every freaking year, like twenty years and
- 37:04Speaker 1: they really like just threw a bunch of things at
- 37:06Speaker 1: the wall to see what stuck. Like they had a
- 37:09Speaker 1: credit card at one point, they had they had makeup
- 37:12Speaker 1: lines well before Kylie Cosmetics or KKW Cosmetics, which does
- 37:16Speaker 1: not exist anymore. It's only skims. And also this is
- 37:20Speaker 1: a this is a podcast in which we support skims
- 37:23Speaker 1: are right now. But I'm just saying, like, are you
- 37:40Speaker 1: going to go to a celebrity for skin care line?
- 37:42Speaker 1: Are you going to do a celebrity for shoot? Except
- 37:44Speaker 1: our girl Jessica Simpson Nasa Sturdy as Simpson, who recently
- 37:50Speaker 1: bought back her company. She did, Yeah, she bought back
- 37:53Speaker 1: full Steak in her company. Wait she is a billion millionaire.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Wait she is? They sew them at like um dsw God.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Do you remember when Jessica Simpson and Nicholas were literally
- 38:05Speaker 1: the two most famous people on the planet. Okay, and
- 38:08Speaker 1: around that time, the same like the Simple Life, reality
- 38:12Speaker 1: shows actually had so much stock in people's homes, like
- 38:16Speaker 1: people will watch and literally like, no, this is the
- 38:19Speaker 1: thing to watch, Like I don't want to see anything scripted.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I want to see ship played down. It played out
- 38:24Speaker 1: in people's homes and it was much realer than reality
- 38:27Speaker 1: TV is today because they didn't understand how to fake
- 38:31Speaker 1: it yet. Like the Kardashians, I've been watching their new
- 38:33Speaker 1: show and it's like, I mean, I think it's good,
- 38:38Speaker 1: but it's very obvious that everything they do, everything that happens,
- 38:43Speaker 1: they are in control. They are the executive producers. They're
- 38:46Speaker 1: probably like running the camera. Said if I can't if
- 38:51Speaker 1: I can't control every I don't want it. Yeah, I
- 38:53Speaker 1: don't do it. But in the days of The Simple
- 38:55Speaker 1: Life and Newlyweds and like the Surreal Life all that ship,
- 38:59Speaker 1: they didn't know how to not let the cameras see
- 39:02Speaker 1: things that they didn't want them to see. God, if
- 39:05Speaker 1: there was a re emergence of Jessica Simpson right now,
- 39:07Speaker 1: that would be amazing. Well there was, actually she went
- 39:09Speaker 1: viral recently because she was doing um a sponsored video
- 39:13Speaker 1: for an allergy medication, and it was really weird. No, no, no,
- 39:18Speaker 1: it was like, maybe do you need do you need
- 39:19Speaker 1: the money with your brand? That's why it was off
- 39:24Speaker 1: that it was an ad that was like, this is
- 39:26Speaker 1: not even something that you do. You have allergies I do.
- 39:34Speaker 1: That's actually been the best part about moving to l
- 39:36Speaker 1: as my allergies are not as bad anymore. Jessica Simpson
- 39:39Speaker 1: is kind of giving Rihanna and that she completely abandoned
- 39:43Speaker 1: music to be a mogul. Why not? Why not do it?
- 39:47Speaker 1: We don't deserve I'm going to sit here right now.
- 39:50Speaker 1: As a culture, we don't deserve anything that like the
- 39:53Speaker 1: real musicians are putting out. We don't because everything we do,
- 39:58Speaker 1: we take it we wanted in sixties and bites so
- 40:00Speaker 1: that we can do these stupid as fucking dances. It's
- 40:03Speaker 1: like we don't respect we don't respect the craft, I
- 40:06Speaker 1: mean everything, Like look at the generation now, they're so bored.
- 40:10Speaker 1: What else? What else? And anything that is trending. You're like,
- 40:14Speaker 1: this is fucking trending? How dare you? And it's all
- 40:18Speaker 1: Paris Hilton's fault back and say like I don't. I
- 40:22Speaker 1: don't feel like Paris is kind of like making a
- 40:25Speaker 1: comeback per se, but like re emergence as a DJ
- 40:28Speaker 1: and with her documentary and all this stuff, like hasn't
- 40:30Speaker 1: been kind of interested in like what people want now.
- 40:32Speaker 1: And I think between Jessica Simpson honestly and Paris and
- 40:35Speaker 1: like blonde bimbos of like the early aughts, like there's
- 40:39Speaker 1: something about that that's much more valuable now because when
- 40:43Speaker 1: A Simple Life came out, we as a culture fundamentally
- 40:47Speaker 1: didn't understand that, like you can be into things that
- 40:49Speaker 1: are like flamboyantly girly and also be an intellect. And
- 40:54Speaker 1: now in the twenties, that's like a fierce ideal of
- 40:56Speaker 1: like a lot of like the ways we talk about
- 40:58Speaker 1: women are talking about celebrity is and so you know,
- 41:01Speaker 1: Paris trying to kind of rebrand herself as a shrewd businesswoman.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Not to say that she isn't, but like that is
- 41:09Speaker 1: how she's pivoting a little bit. Well, I mean, she's
- 41:11Speaker 1: older now, so she wants to like remain like, hey,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm not going to be Mariah Carey, which we love Maria.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Mariah wants to stay at a surname. So does Madonna.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So Paris is like, no, no, no no, it's okay. I'm
- 41:26Speaker 1: getting older, Like I know, like the voice that I
- 41:29Speaker 1: was doing before, you know, we're gonna change it a
- 41:31Speaker 1: little bit. Also getting married, I'm doing I'm doing something different. Yeah.
- 41:34Speaker 1: I think part of it is also like about legacy
- 41:37Speaker 1: and are wanting to say, all of these things that
- 41:39Speaker 1: exist now, I had a hand in creating them. And
- 41:42Speaker 1: don't forget that She's trying to reintroduce herself, not only
- 41:46Speaker 1: to us who were aware of it the first time around,
- 41:48Speaker 1: but this generation who don't even understand that, you know,
- 41:51Speaker 1: like she invented the selfie. She's She's like, I am
- 41:54Speaker 1: a trend setter. You know, if you ever wear a
- 41:56Speaker 1: Lore sweatsuit, bitch Hillo, because you owe me a check. Yeah. Literally,
- 42:01Speaker 1: juicy juicy couture wouldn't even have been able to thrive
- 42:04Speaker 1: back then for her or just beca Simpson or just
- 42:07Speaker 1: like Lindsay, all of those celebrities at the time. In
- 42:10Speaker 1: my high school yearbook for senior superlatives, I was best
- 42:13Speaker 1: dressed or I was most fashionable, and in the photo
- 42:16Speaker 1: I wore a juice guitar track suit. Man of course
- 42:21Speaker 1: you did. And do you know, like to have that
- 42:23Speaker 1: on your automatically cool like people people know that like,
- 42:27Speaker 1: oh you have money because this is like a hundred
- 42:29Speaker 1: dollars for some reason for just just the top I had.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I had a lot of times where it was like
- 42:35Speaker 1: a mitche match like I would have I would be
- 42:36Speaker 1: able to have the hoodie, but then it would be
- 42:39Speaker 1: Valor and then the sweats would be terry cloth because
- 42:42Speaker 1: that was on sale from Shop Bop. Like you know,
- 42:45Speaker 1: I wasn't like all of the other girls, but I
- 42:48Speaker 1: knew what was going on at that time, and that
- 42:49Speaker 1: was very appreciative of the movement. You know, neither of
- 42:53Speaker 1: you get a senior superlative in high school. I got
- 42:57Speaker 1: the biggest personality, which between best dress something theah yeah
- 43:03Speaker 1: if you if you could have gotten one, what would
- 43:05Speaker 1: you have wanted it to be? Uh? It would be
- 43:10Speaker 1: what's that? Most popular? Yeah? I was. I was very
- 43:13Speaker 1: popular in high school. Of course you are. I was
- 43:15Speaker 1: popular instance that everybody knew me, and I was in
- 43:19Speaker 1: little groups here and there. I wasn't cool. Were you funny?
- 43:23Speaker 1: It wasn't. But did you make everyone laugh or you like?
- 43:26Speaker 1: Was it? Was it? Giving class? Clown. People were talking
- 43:28Speaker 1: about me. I wouldn't say that class clown. I was
- 43:32Speaker 1: most popular because people there was either somebody wanted to
- 43:35Speaker 1: fight me or I was like teacher's pet. I was
- 43:38Speaker 1: in like every extra curriculum activity. I wasn't a nerd
- 43:42Speaker 1: though I wasn't. I wasn't getting straight a's. They were like,
- 43:45Speaker 1: you're kind of dumb, but like you're doing all the stuff,
- 43:47Speaker 1: but can you read, you know, like and stuff like that.
- 43:49Speaker 1: But I mean I was the most popular in terms
- 43:51Speaker 1: of like every group knew who the fun I was.
- 43:54Speaker 1: I know that that silent power, you know, moving in
- 43:57Speaker 1: the shadows. I think that's where the real power is that.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I mean, is that what you want in the future. Yeah,
- 44:04Speaker 1: I think those were the true like when I was
- 44:08Speaker 1: and actually, no, I want to be more in the spotlight.
- 44:10Speaker 1: When I was growing up, those were definitely the popular.
- 44:12Speaker 1: The popular kids that I idolized were the ones that
- 44:14Speaker 1: had that quiet, cool, usually extremely funny sensibility that that girl,
- 44:19Speaker 1: who is that girl? Yeah, they were like the theater kids, honestly,
- 44:22Speaker 1: but I wanted to zip back to the voice thing.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I want to know y'all's honest take on like this
- 44:28Speaker 1: thing that they're trying to establish in the documentary, which
- 44:30Speaker 1: is that the voice that she's been doing on camera
- 44:33Speaker 1: this whole time is fake. All you know Elizabeth Holmes
- 44:36Speaker 1: and like she really is like a cool Like the
- 44:39Speaker 1: documentary was very like she's a normal girl. Look, her
- 44:42Speaker 1: voice is slightly lower. She like eats take out and like, um,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you know, enjoys leftovers like I didn't. I don't know.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I had a hard time kind of buying what they
- 44:51Speaker 1: were trying to. Now, all the girls, all the girls
- 44:56Speaker 1: in the early apps had that voice, yes, by Jessica.
- 45:00Speaker 1: The voice. It was the thing that you like, it's
- 45:02Speaker 1: kind of annoying, but like like you know, and it's
- 45:05Speaker 1: a thing that girls are still doing. They're doing. Have
- 45:08Speaker 1: you ever heard Brittany's real singing voice. There's like a
- 45:11Speaker 1: concert clip of her one time being like this is
- 45:13Speaker 1: my real singing voice, and she sounds like totally different
- 45:16Speaker 1: or something like that. I don't know. I don't know anyways,
- 45:19Speaker 1: I I do think, yeah, maybe it was more like
- 45:22Speaker 1: a manufacturing of like the celebrity celebrities at the time,
- 45:25Speaker 1: or since you have to have a baby voice, you
- 45:28Speaker 1: don't understand. I'll never be as pressed as I was
- 45:32Speaker 1: about celebrities then like now I don't care because it's
- 45:37Speaker 1: too annoying. It's I know too much. We were we
- 45:40Speaker 1: were so obsessed. We we wanted to know so much.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Like I mean, this was the time of Perez Hilton
- 45:46Speaker 1: and oh no they didn't and like this, I mean,
- 45:49Speaker 1: this was the time where the photographer you could get
- 45:52Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of dollars for a photo of one
- 45:55Speaker 1: of these girls. When they said that they still making
- 45:57Speaker 1: good money. Now they're still doing good money, but with
- 46:00Speaker 1: the photos. But it's just like it's more gross now. Yeah,
- 46:04Speaker 1: things like dumois or like um camera. So it's like
- 46:09Speaker 1: it's just become democratires. Yeah, And I think in in
- 46:12Speaker 1: the wake Up the Free Bitney Movement were not everyone,
- 46:15Speaker 1: but a lot of us have like a slightly more
- 46:17Speaker 1: nuanced perspective on We watched the documentary and we were like, oh,
- 46:22Speaker 1: they were so bad. Even though it's like, yeah, people
- 46:25Speaker 1: are getting in like Princess Diana fucking car crash. We
- 46:29Speaker 1: never we never learned. We don't we never learned. We
- 46:32Speaker 1: don't want people are still going a non please and
- 46:36Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I don't know. I think that honestly,
- 46:39Speaker 1: what I was trying to get out with like the
- 46:40Speaker 1: Paris voice thing is in part because like I feel like,
- 46:44Speaker 1: you know, to be a celebrity, you do have a
- 46:46Speaker 1: performance self, and I don't know if that necessarily is
- 46:49Speaker 1: any less you you know what I mean? Like I
- 46:52Speaker 1: feel like, um, I when when I was watching the
- 46:57Speaker 1: doc I felt like I believe that she is like
- 47:00Speaker 1: an amazing businesswoman and that she has this empire and
- 47:02Speaker 1: that you know, her voice is really like this or whatever.
- 47:05Speaker 1: But there was nothing from the documentary maybe because it's
- 47:08Speaker 1: like so I think it's a little shallow, like it
- 47:10Speaker 1: didn't really go anywhere where I wanted it to. But
- 47:14Speaker 1: I felt like, um, there was nothing in the doctor
- 47:17Speaker 1: kind of proved to me that she was like this
- 47:20Speaker 1: sole savant genius behind a multimillion of the brain, the
- 47:23Speaker 1: whole performance of it, that like don't we all do
- 47:26Speaker 1: a version of that? And isn't that just kind of
- 47:29Speaker 1: what that that documentary was proving is that like she
- 47:33Speaker 1: was at least just being a heightened version of herself
- 47:36Speaker 1: that she knew would make her money. And also it
- 47:38Speaker 1: was maybe kind of like based on some trauma she
- 47:40Speaker 1: had and like we all performed versions of ourselves online
- 47:43Speaker 1: that are like not always a percent authentic to who
- 47:47Speaker 1: we are, at least not all the time. I think
- 47:50Speaker 1: that's my problem. My problem is that I'm too transparent
- 47:53Speaker 1: and I'm too like consistent all the way, and I
- 48:00Speaker 1: need to work on That's why I need a fucking team.
- 48:03Speaker 1: That's why these people are are thriving because they have
- 48:06Speaker 1: like a whole circle of people to be like, this
- 48:08Speaker 1: is this is this is your brand, this is the marketing,
- 48:10Speaker 1: this is the this is the angle, this is all
- 48:13Speaker 1: the things that we're going to do to make sure
- 48:14Speaker 1: that you get to where you need to go. And
- 48:16Speaker 1: you have all these different branches. It does sound really nice,
- 48:19Speaker 1: but don't you think there's um, I guess for me,
- 48:22Speaker 1: there's a fear in that barrier between me and the audience.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Something will be missed that like the people are going
- 48:29Speaker 1: to like like, I understand that whatever minor platform of
- 48:32Speaker 1: people who are interested in me exists is because for
- 48:36Speaker 1: most of the time that I've been on the Internet,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I have been like completely unfiltered and said everything I think.
- 48:42Speaker 1: And in recent years I've like gotten more aware of
- 48:47Speaker 1: censoring myself a little bit because you getting the numbers
- 48:50Speaker 1: you got like you're getting more. People are seeing you more,
- 48:53Speaker 1: hearing you more your tweets, Like we have to be
- 48:56Speaker 1: more present in that because anything can happen. Anybody could
- 48:59Speaker 1: pull up some ship and you're like, okay, I have
- 49:02Speaker 1: no job now, so it's different. It's different like the
- 49:04Speaker 1: unfiltered nous twenty years ago, I couldn't get you in trouble. Now,
- 49:10Speaker 1: well it's yeah, exactly exactly twenty years later, I can.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, I mean I definitely have
- 49:17Speaker 1: like a performance self. I think that that it's always
- 49:20Speaker 1: hot always, it's never sad, it's always hot. It's always hot.
- 49:27Speaker 1: I should I should pivot more to like sad home
- 49:29Speaker 1: stop it. We have to stop. Like I love people
- 49:32Speaker 1: being like honest, but then it's like, so what do
- 49:35Speaker 1: you have for the people in your real life? But
- 49:37Speaker 1: what And that's that's what I have to work on
- 49:40Speaker 1: is and that's what I love you. That's what I
- 49:42Speaker 1: love about the Kardashians. And I don't I can't believe
- 49:46Speaker 1: that'st a that but like those type of celebrities is like, yes,
- 49:50Speaker 1: this is that thing that I'm putting out there, and
- 49:52Speaker 1: then when people meet them in real life, it's something
- 49:55Speaker 1: else like it should be that it should Yeah, I
- 49:58Speaker 1: think part of the reason I was kind of a
- 50:00Speaker 1: allergic to the Paris voice things, just that the whole
- 50:03Speaker 1: her kind of whole claim was like, this is not me,
- 50:05Speaker 1: and the documentary is called this is Paris. It's like
- 50:07Speaker 1: this is the real me and this is the fake me.
- 50:09Speaker 1: And I was like, it's all. But then but then
- 50:11Speaker 1: she's leaned back into it because she did the cooking
- 50:14Speaker 1: show where she was like doing doing the baby voice again,
- 50:17Speaker 1: and I think at the very least she's like having
- 50:21Speaker 1: fun with it again. Um, she has, and that's kind
- 50:25Speaker 1: of all we want because those are like, those are
- 50:27Speaker 1: the reasons why we like her, like all the trappings
- 50:31Speaker 1: of Paris, Like she looms so large in the cultural
- 50:34Speaker 1: consciousness that it's just smart business to play into it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Like it's why I'm sure she, you know, allowed herself
- 50:41Speaker 1: to be part of like something like the Bling Ring
- 50:44Speaker 1: where they you know, because names were changed for for
- 50:47Speaker 1: people in that, but they talked about breaking into Paris's
- 50:50Speaker 1: house and I'm sure someone had to call her and
- 50:53Speaker 1: make sure that was okay, and she clearly said yes,
- 50:56Speaker 1: And I love the Bling Ring. Wait, now, what was
- 50:59Speaker 1: the Bling Ring. The Blingering is a Sofia couple of
- 51:02Speaker 1: the movie based on something that really happened, where this
- 51:04Speaker 1: group of teenagers were breaking into all these famous people's
- 51:07Speaker 1: houses and stealing their stuff. Yeah, it's I don't think
- 51:12Speaker 1: the movie is very good, but the story is an
- 51:14Speaker 1: I think is great. It's Emma Watson and her action,
- 51:18Speaker 1: but you know, you know you that's also a brand
- 51:20Speaker 1: of things, like especially in the early Ott's bad but good.
- 51:25Speaker 1: It's not good. It's bad, but it's still okay, like
- 51:28Speaker 1: we love it, you know. So I think now everything
- 51:31Speaker 1: has to be fucking good. Everything has to be so genius,
- 51:36Speaker 1: it has to have an has to have a message.
- 51:39Speaker 1: It's just it's too much. I missed the like good
- 51:43Speaker 1: old days where you could just so bad, so bad.
- 51:46Speaker 1: I think that's culture. Yeah, idiot culture. Actually Paris is
- 51:50Speaker 1: o g idiot simple life the like not. I don't
- 51:55Speaker 1: see that in a pejorative way, like she's in on
- 51:57Speaker 1: the joke and I think that it's absurd. Is that's
- 52:00Speaker 1: kind of also like my point earlier about like flamboyant
- 52:02Speaker 1: femininity is like culture, yes, or also like look at
- 52:07Speaker 1: like z Way or like or like something like the
- 52:10Speaker 1: reason a movie, like legally Blonde as successful as you have,
- 52:13Speaker 1: like that dichotomy of someone who's like shrewd and incisive
- 52:17Speaker 1: and intellectual, but also just like I dressed like a barby. Well,
- 52:24Speaker 1: yes she is, but like, let's be honest, z Way.
- 52:29Speaker 1: You know, she is a woman that is truly so smart,
- 52:35Speaker 1: and she has the background and she like went to
- 52:37Speaker 1: school for all of this, Like it's just different. Like
- 52:41Speaker 1: I think blonds can actually be idiots and then make
- 52:45Speaker 1: an empire off of it, like still value them, but
- 52:49Speaker 1: brown girls, like we really do have to have an
- 52:51Speaker 1: education and we can't just pull off a show like
- 52:54Speaker 1: z Ways without being the pure genius that she is. Yeah,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I would love to see interview parents. She would be
- 53:03Speaker 1: an iconic guy. Paris is a huge influence of hers,
- 53:05Speaker 1: as well as Stacy. She she I know, she's reached out. Actually,
- 53:11Speaker 1: I would love to see this because Republican not just
- 53:15Speaker 1: the Republican. She's just like the worst of the worst
- 53:18Speaker 1: so far. She had the capital on aid for a while.
- 53:23Speaker 1: She worked at the White House, like in an basically
- 53:25Speaker 1: fake job. This is what happens when you when you don't.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I feel like everybody who was really big in the
- 53:36Speaker 1: early two thousands. They feel lost now They're like, what
- 53:38Speaker 1: can I do to push the needle and be talked
- 53:42Speaker 1: about and be relevant and get in And Stacy dash
- 53:45Speaker 1: was literally like Republican like I'm already beautiful, I've already
- 53:49Speaker 1: done the movies. I'm not singing. What then am I
- 53:53Speaker 1: going to do? Republican gonna be hand in hand with Trump?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Like that's the only way we would pay her mind truthfully,
- 54:00Speaker 1: whack yeah, And it did it put her. I wouldn't
- 54:02Speaker 1: never have thought about her if it weren't for that
- 54:04Speaker 1: cultural moment. You have to have, like a crazy spiraling
- 54:07Speaker 1: moment for people like what which makes me wonder about
- 54:10Speaker 1: I mean, I wonder if there's a connection to like
- 54:13Speaker 1: Paris briefly supporting Trump like I have. I have no
- 54:16Speaker 1: doubt that Paris is like kind of a good person,
- 54:18Speaker 1: but like she definitely has some like evil things circulating
- 54:22Speaker 1: her because she grew up in a wealthy white family. Well,
- 54:25Speaker 1: I think at the time what she said about it
- 54:27Speaker 1: is that Trump was like a family friend. Before Trump
- 54:32Speaker 1: was a president, he was like people were fans of him.
- 54:35Speaker 1: We have to really get down to the nitty gritty,
- 54:37Speaker 1: is that he only became an evil guy. When he
- 54:40Speaker 1: became the president, we all that he was like everything
- 54:43Speaker 1: you wanted on TV and now you're like, that's in
- 54:46Speaker 1: the fucking White House. That's the person who's controlling the government.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Out of here was part of the same part like
- 54:52Speaker 1: time and reality TV culture that Harris was. Do you
- 55:09Speaker 1: remember Paris's other reality show? It was the one where
- 55:12Speaker 1: you were auditioning to be her new best friend, which
- 55:15Speaker 1: is like, oh my god, that's so nasty, nasty because
- 55:20Speaker 1: because Paris basically dumped and called Richie. Yeah, and it
- 55:23Speaker 1: was basically it was they were fighting huge few I
- 55:27Speaker 1: didn't know about this, will you mean the top line
- 55:29Speaker 1: of like how it went down or well, for for me,
- 55:32Speaker 1: I don't know the specifics, but I could tell that
- 55:35Speaker 1: Nicole was going through it like she had. She was
- 55:38Speaker 1: battling like eating disorder and like drugs, and I mean
- 55:42Speaker 1: being on something like simple Life and being somebody's you know, sidekick,
- 55:46Speaker 1: that fox with that fox with everything, and to know
- 55:49Speaker 1: that she was not the first pig. No, she was
- 55:52Speaker 1: not the first pig. So I think all that I'm
- 55:56Speaker 1: sure started to build up to. Yeah, it was also
- 55:59Speaker 1: just the era of the girls are fighting. There were
- 56:03Speaker 1: always fighting. There was only it just felt like there
- 56:06Speaker 1: was us a limited amount of psychic space that these
- 56:09Speaker 1: women could take up, and they were clawing and scratching
- 56:13Speaker 1: each other for every intruent they could get, and all
- 56:16Speaker 1: of us watching, we're just encouraging it because it was
- 56:19Speaker 1: entertaining to watch. And I think the Paris and Nicole thing,
- 56:22Speaker 1: I don't even really think there's like a real inciting
- 56:26Speaker 1: incident outside of you know, one person said something kind
- 56:29Speaker 1: of bitchy about the other one in the press, and
- 56:31Speaker 1: then the other one retaliated and it's snowballed from there. Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 1: But also again, like you know, being in the public
- 56:38Speaker 1: eye is very stressful, So I would never want to
- 56:42Speaker 1: be that famous. I don't. I don't know if I
- 56:44Speaker 1: want that. I don't. I see how hard I am
- 56:46Speaker 1: right now, just regular degla. I couldn't imagine, like, you know,
- 56:50Speaker 1: some paparazzi paparazzi getting me from a bad angle and
- 56:54Speaker 1: then I'm like, that's everywhere. It's going viral at least now,
- 56:58Speaker 1: as you know, a humble stand up comedian photographer takes
- 57:03Speaker 1: a bad angle of me on stage, they're blocked. Yea, yeah,
- 57:10Speaker 1: I'll be curious to know like what the future of
- 57:12Speaker 1: Paris looks like, because she's kind of projecting like what
- 57:16Speaker 1: she is going to be now with the DJ staff
- 57:20Speaker 1: and with this documentary. But like I'm her TV show
- 57:23Speaker 1: about her getting married, yes, and the marriage the wedding,
- 57:26Speaker 1: which well it's on like peacock or something that nobody
- 57:30Speaker 1: has no I mean, just getting me love people. Yeah,
- 57:36Speaker 1: there's some friends that got stuff on there. I mean,
- 57:38Speaker 1: I'm like, I have it. Well, actually I'm using somebody else.
- 57:42Speaker 1: I still support. I support, but yeah the wedding boring,
- 57:46Speaker 1: like we got to do more, but was there and
- 57:49Speaker 1: that those moments for me, whenever they reunite, I get
- 57:54Speaker 1: so happy because I do. I did love their friendships
- 58:00Speaker 1: so much and just like just like you, I wanted, Um,
- 58:04Speaker 1: I'm more of a Nicole I wanted. I. I also
- 58:06Speaker 1: wanted a Paris planacle. I'm definitely on Paris. Unfortunately, we
- 58:10Speaker 1: are a Paris and Nicole, you think, and this energy
- 58:13Speaker 1: has been top of the line. I mean, because no
- 58:16Speaker 1: one's that bad or good. You know, you guys just
- 58:19Speaker 1: ping pong off of each other and it's it's feeling good. Yeah. Well,
- 58:24Speaker 1: I mean I will be braced for the next problematic thing,
- 58:27Speaker 1: maybe that Paris halting. She'll she'll definitely do it. What
- 58:30Speaker 1: do you think she'll do? I don't know. I honestly
- 58:33Speaker 1: was a little I'm not trying to Honestly, I'm not
- 58:36Speaker 1: trying to like demonize or anything problem but I just
- 58:40Speaker 1: think that like watching the documentary, which I did like
- 58:43Speaker 1: a few like a few days ago, like I was
- 58:45Speaker 1: like kind of baffled by a lot of awareness around
- 58:51Speaker 1: this whole rebrand thing, but still a lack of awareness
- 58:54Speaker 1: around like her wealth and her class and like her
- 58:57Speaker 1: place in the world. And like even in the documentary
- 58:59Speaker 1: she was wearing like an n white heat had, Like
- 59:00Speaker 1: I was just no accountability. I was like, who, I
- 59:03Speaker 1: don't necessarily even care unfortunately about accountability from Paris Hilton,
- 59:09Speaker 1: Like we don't need it, it doesn't matter. I would
- 59:11Speaker 1: like to. I think that there is something interesting in
- 59:14Speaker 1: you know, I say this on the part of the time,
- 59:16Speaker 1: but I'm interested in like white people investigating whiteness, and
- 59:19Speaker 1: I think that I don't think that something Paris was
- 59:21Speaker 1: aware of, but like it's something that's interesting about her
- 59:24Speaker 1: and like the privilege that she has. It's not the band,
- 59:29Speaker 1: because it would just be so awkward and we honestly
- 59:33Speaker 1: don't want to hear it. Like there's just some people
- 59:36Speaker 1: you we don't need that perspective, and they know that
- 59:38Speaker 1: they stay in their lane. And that's why I have
- 59:40Speaker 1: to That's why I have to give it to her
- 59:42Speaker 1: that she has not come out and try to be
- 59:44Speaker 1: one of those people to jump on the bandwagon. If
- 59:47Speaker 1: I ever saw Paris Hilton with a Black Lives Matter anything,
- 59:52Speaker 1: I would be fucking furious, Like what, I don't want
- 59:55Speaker 1: to snatch just share right off or whatever she had
- 59:58Speaker 1: a little pin or something. No, absolutely not. It's funny
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: how much we resent celebrities for trying and yet like
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: culturally we demand accountability from people that do that are
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: wrong doing. But I totally agree with you, it's not.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: It's kind of like when I said I don't care
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: about accountability, Like I I don't care if it's like
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: right or wrong, but like I really am. It's like
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I don't want to watch you suffer through. It's kind
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: of like how I felt watching like the Real House
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: as of Salt Lake City or like of Beverly Hills,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: like trying to have conversations about race. It's like I
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: actually I don't need this from you, you know what
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I mean. We're here for the ships, you are here
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: for the drama. But like when there's like race relations
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: in reality shows, it's like, Okay, this feels too much
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: like what's actually in the world. And escapism like Harris
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Hilton is escapism. We want to be stars are blind
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: on the beach, like just just vibes head empty. And
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: you know when I said earlier like a simple life
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: could exist today, I think I said that maybe very
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: um aspirationally, like I kind of wish that we could
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: produce something that is that's stupid or unaware, you know
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: what I mean, But like it would be the need
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: to be or that the need for us to cancel it.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Like it's just like there would there would be no conversation.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Maybe there's a version of the symbol life today where
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: it's like, um, some like liberal queers have to go
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: live and like have to go work at Fox News,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: like the interns at Fox News or bright Bart. That's
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: that's the simple life. That's actually maybe it's the other
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: way around. Maybe it's like Megan Kelly has to like
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: go go live and like be a part of Juice.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: That might be funny we might gag. And who's like
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: the Paris Hilton of our I mean, that's like a
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: kind of rudimentary thing to say, but if there's a
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: is there a Paris Hilton of our generation? Emily Morico
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: who's like a wealthy kind of privilege, who's famous for
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: being wealthy. Lily depth Um, I don't even like one
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: of the celebrity kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah, one of the
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: say Ellen I was, I don't think the girls got it.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: They don't get it. They don't have it. When we
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: were talking, they think they do. We're talking about socialites
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: in New York City. I'm talking about like Beatrice in
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: We're going to like the holes in the walls where
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you're like, oh was this bitch? Everybody's around them like
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: there's no more of that. They just don't have it.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: They can't move the needle, they don't have the fashion,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: they don't have the they don't have the thought process.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: They're certainly trying, but they're not succeeding. So maybe it's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: like it's like, Okay, maybe they can see this show.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: It's like Country Brooklyn faggots that have to like go
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: to like mansions and pretend to be rich or something
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: like that. It's like they are talking about it hilly.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Well that's the thing that is the Beverly like simple
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: life was a subversion of Beverly Hillbillies and like Green Acres.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: So okay, coming back to the Leverty like kids or whatever.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Madonna's daughter Lords has got it. But she doesn't. She
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: doesn't quite have it on the scale that parristed, but
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: she has it the energy of like socialized girl. She's
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: got it. It's not just because she's got hair underneath
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: her arms like she's it's something in her that's like
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I want to be the opposite of everybody and everything
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: that's happening right now. And I think that is a
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: part of being a socialite. Like you're not You're not
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: the masses. You're like a small you're a small group.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: So she's got it. I think we've got it. I
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: think we all three of us have got it. We
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: could we could be socialites. I think we are socialites
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: in our own ways, socialites in that we never leave
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: our homes and watch people on social No, no, no, no
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: no socialites. This is this is the main thing is
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: we don't know what the funk you do that No
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: one knows what I have power and silence moving in
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: the show. But you've got every look, You've got every label.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: You're at every like house and event, and people are
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: like taking pictures of you. Who is this bit? Literally,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: no one I've ever met has been able to accurately
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: identify what I do ever and and we love that
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: and you have to keep it that way. And if
