Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 3: My name is Trevor Matthews, founder of RefrigerationMentor.com. Over the past decade, I've trained tens of thousands of refrigeration technicians and contractors on supermarket refrigeration, and I've seen the same problem across the industry. Technicians are under pressure, second-guessing, and getting stuck on jobs too long.
- 0:03P&ID, wiring diagram, refrigeration schedule, and IO list. When you can start playing with all those and understanding how all they work, everything starts to come together. You start to understand sequence of operations so much easier, so much better, and really this will help you properly troubleshoot racks or cases or controllers or safety circuits.
- 0:06Is there oil pre- pressure check valves? Is there oil pressure valves? What is in there? Is there oil level controls? Like what is in there? We need to understand all the components in that oil system. How do EPRs work? Are they Are they mechanical? Are they electronic? Like what makes them open and close?
- 0:09And putting this together does take a little bit of time, but it doesn't take as long as you think 'Cause I hear this all the time, technicians taking the Supermarket Academy, they're like, "I learned so much so quick, and I'm out there actually doing it now. Where before I was nervous about trying stuff, and I did- didn't know really if I, if I shut this off, like, if I shut the rack off, I might not be able to get it start back up."
- 0:12I wasn't as good as I could have been at troubleshooting. I took longer at troubleshooting calls. I stressed out a lot more, and it was all because, like, people, "Oh, it takes years and years to learn supermarket." That's bull. It doesn't have to take years and years and years. If you have the right mentors, you have the right training, and you have the right opportunities to go out there and actually work on equipment, it doesn't take five, seven, or ten years to be a great supermarket technician.
- 0:15I really believe that I, I skipped some steps and I did get hurt quite often. Like I got hurt a lot from, from either burns or s- falling asleep driving working way too many hours, cutting myself, you know, not wearing gloves, getting things in my eyes. You're d- drilling stuff above my head and my safety glasses weren't on or my face shield wasn't, cutting rebar rod.
- 0:18You could be up at the E2 pressing the question mark or on the microthermal, taking a-- take-- watching one of the videos. We have tons of these videos, like the CO2 unfiltered sessions. Like, I don't even know... If you haven't watched any of those yet, like if you wanna change your control game, there-- we got Danfoss, Microthermal, Copeland on there.
