- 0:01The sun is shining clout in the sky. We wouldn't know because we're so
- 0:07happy inside. Some people on some skis, but we would rather sit on
- 0:15down and talk some movies. We're the Avid Indoorsmen. Come listen to our
- 0:21show. We're the evid indoorsmen at home, are on the go. We're
- 0:26the Avidendorsmen. We hope you love it, so come on in and stay.
- 0:33We'll do our best to make you smile with the indoors Man. What
- 0:41is happening? I'm Rob blood Quist, I'm and we are the Avid Endorsment.
- 0:47Hello friends, Hello, how are you sir? I'm doing great,
- 0:52pal Uh. It's a beautiful day in Minnesota. It's lovely. I'm working
- 0:58a short week this week because I'm about to go to the Boundary Waters,
- 1:00which fun. That is happening. So that was like kind of on hold
- 1:06if the Timberwolves are still doing well. Yeah, so, And to be
- 1:10honest, I might start planning stuff for like sports teams like this, because
- 1:15it's been a nice distraction of like, well, at least I get to
- 1:17go do that, which is fun. Yeah, that's been nice. My
- 1:22new thing for this trip is I'm dehydrating food like meals for us to rehydrate
- 1:26and each So yeah, that's been fun, cool new thing. Yeah,
- 1:32I made tacos and I had some for lunch to see if they would be
- 1:37awful, and they were delish. Oh nice, Yeah, they were great,
- 1:41so very cool. Well it's fun. But yes, I am well,
- 1:44getting over a little bit of a cold, but very well. How
- 1:47are you? I am good, I am one year older. You wrote
- 1:53a very nice post. Thank you for that. Of course, of course
- 1:57I'm an old man. You're just the best. I realized later. I
- 2:00was like, I should have posted to the avidendorsman, but I don't do
- 2:04anywhere so bad about stuff. You are. Our good friend Tim Faust just
- 2:12sent me the link to AARP I love it. He didn't say happy birthday,
- 2:19He just sent me that link and I laughed. Pretty good and it's
- 2:23pretty great. How so wait, okay, so you're two years older than
- 2:25me. So you're forty one then, right, forty one is correct?
- 2:29Oh yeah, because we had the thing like yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:30okay, it's all coming yek to me now yep. So I was surprised.
- 2:35You know, still did a bunch of stuff for forty one, hung
- 2:38out with the fam. We had a cool day at my folks love it.
- 2:43It was cool. We went to a restaurant by our place that I
- 2:46like, and it was just a nice day. That's great, dude,
- 2:47I love it. And you look so good. God, oh my gosh,
- 2:51thank you. You're more handsome every year. I swear to you.
- 2:53I'd up. But I looked through some of our old pictures and we looked
- 2:58rough in college. We're aging nicely. The one photo that you took I
- 3:02had just done. I had just done Sweeney Todd where I had that goofy
- 3:07like mutton chop thing. I did select some ones. It was just fun.
- 3:14It was a little nostalgia, but yeah, it was. It was
- 3:15cute. That was my worst era, for sure, but kind of cool
- 3:20as facial hair, it was cool. I think you looked great. It
- 3:23was weird. I'll never forget you. In the airport on the way home
- 3:28from that trip, we hadn't slept a scant of a minute there, and
- 3:32it was real bad, greasy and just yeah, you had that crazy facial
- 3:38hair il at some point, Yeah, someone give you that. When I
- 3:43have longer hair, mine just it just gets greasy so fast. It's gross.
- 3:47I don't I don't look good with long hair, that's for sure.
- 3:52You look great anyway. Anyway, you look great, buddy. But it
- 3:55was a lovely birthday. It was it was great. Thank you. That's
- 3:59awesome. I love it. Have you been watching any fun movies lately?
- 4:02Yeah, so I've been going down recommendation corner. I've decided I need to
- 4:09start following through. So I watched a movie. I don't know if you've
- 4:12ever heard of this one. It was recommended to me by a few friends.
- 4:15It's called Primal Fear. Have you ever heard watched it for the first
- 4:18time. I did, Yeah, I did. I was like, I
- 4:21got to start writing down, especially during these drafts, like the egregious ones,
- 4:26and watching them. So it's been twenty years since I've seen that.
- 4:29How does it hold up? It holds up remarkably well. It's kind of
- 4:32funny because Richard gear is basically the same character that he's in Chicago, but
- 4:39like a lawyer, more serious obviously. But I just thought that was fun.
- 4:44But man stacked cast really well acted. I totally get. I can't
- 4:49believe that's Edward Norton's first movie. Like you, Yah's pretty insane. Yeah,
- 4:57it's just it's really really great and it does it holds up super super
- 5:00well. I had a great time watching it. I really enjoyed myself.
- 5:04Yeah, I remember watching that and just being like, oh, that guy
- 5:08is oh awesome, Oh he can Oh wow, that's that's how you act.
- 5:14Okay, cool. It made me think too, like what I feel
- 5:16like, I haven't seen Richard gear in a lot, and I know he's
- 5:19older now, but even like, I don't know, I just feel like
- 5:24it tapered off quite a lot, you know, for him, and I
- 5:26wonder if he just was like eh or you know, didn't find the right
- 5:30parts. Well for myself, yeah, I mean he's he's done just fine,
- 5:33but he's really he's fun. And Laura Lenny was so great and that
- 5:36she's really good. Loved her that I can distinctly remember her smoking a cigarette.
- 5:43Yeah, just being stressed out, so stressed. Andre Brower in it,
- 5:47Oh, I don't remember that he was an SLF. He is the
- 5:50like, uh, he's his like right hand man that works with Richard Gear.
- 5:58Sure, okay, it's like him. And then Francis McDormand I think
- 6:01also works with that. Oh wow, dude again you could Yeah, I
- 6:04don't it's been so long. I love it. You should rewatch it.
- 6:09I bet you'd love it too. Again. Yeah, but yeah, it
- 6:11was. It was super cool and a great recommendation for sure. So very
- 6:15cool. I don't remember where I saw it, and frankly, that's none
- 6:18of my business. How about you. What have you been watching lately?
- 6:20Buddy? We had a movie night and I got to show my kiddos tmn
- 6:27T Mutant Mayhem. Oh, they watched it. They watched it, and
- 6:31as you know, this was my favorite franchise as a kid, so I
- 6:35was obsessed with the Turtles. I was very excited to show them, but
- 6:40I was a little nervous it would be too scary for them, kind of
- 6:43adult. Yeah, it's PG. It's PG. It's scarier than that,
- 6:47though, I does I questionable that. I was like, yeah, I
- 6:51get it, you know, it's pretty much just that ice Cube character Superfly.
- 6:56That's scary. So like the whole ending sequence was a little iffy.
- 7:00Yeah, but we were able to get through it all right, And yeah,
- 7:04they they really enjoyed it, liked it. Yes, I really enjoyed
- 7:10rewatching it. We did a whole episode on it, so I won't get
- 7:13like, yeah, too far into it, but we had a really good
- 7:15time. And I did see that there is a schedule, Uh what's it
- 7:19called a sequel scheduled for twenty twenty six. Wow, that seems far away,
- 7:26but I guess they got an animation and all that stuff. Yeah that's
- 7:30a good point. So cool that animation. Yeah, awesome. I loved
- 7:32that style. It was super neat for sure and cool man this wan will
- 7:38be Yeah, they enjoyed it. This next one is gonna like feature Shredder,
- 7:43which cool. I'm super excited. Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be
- 7:46great. But if you want to know more of our thoughts on that,
- 7:48to check out the episode. It was a fun one. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:51I love that. Love that I'm different rewatch nice love it. Yeah.
- 7:56It was on Paramount Plus is where we watched cool. Speaking of paramoun
- 8:01Plus and streaming platforms, have you been streaming anything? Yes, I went
- 8:05to Emazon Prime and watched that Kelsey. I think it's just called Kelsey like
- 8:13it's the Kelsey documentary that's on there. I don't know if you've heard about
- 8:18this. It's Travis and Jason Kelcey. Oh okay. They made a documentary
- 8:26the year that they ended up meeting in the Super Bowl, so they need
- 8:31some more exposure. Man, they just need to get out there. It's
- 8:35crazy because like the their podcast came out that year and like blew up at
- 8:39the same time. It's pretty wild. That like year was really crazy.
- 8:45It mostly focuses on Jason the Eagles Center because he kind of made it because
- 8:50he was thinking about retiring that year. I believe he has now retired.
- 8:54He played one more year after that, right, I think yep, he
- 8:58played last year. But yeah, and so we got to see like these
- 9:03dudes do their podcast. He had, you know, him and his wife
- 9:07had a third kid during this year. The you know, the like all
- 9:11the crazy stuff about the brothers meeting in the super Bowl that year and all
- 9:16that stuff. It was super super fun and really interesting. I really liked
- 9:20it. I yeah, I just thought was really fun time. Well.
- 9:24I definitely recommend it, especially closer to football season. I bet I'd get
- 9:28you get you just right for sure. I like both those guys, and
- 9:35they really like Jason Kelcey. They're both fun. They seem like like pretty
- 9:39normal dudes, Like even even Travis who kind of just seems like a bro
- 9:43a little bit like a you know, but I think very sincerely like but
- 9:48fun. Yeah, it seems fun and nice, like he's not like a
- 9:52jerk. I don't think any more than anybody else. But yeah, they're
- 9:56both. They're both pretty cool. They seem pretty fun. I don't know,
- 10:00it was fun to watch. I really had a nice time. I
- 10:01kind of watched it on a whim too, so it was a good share.
- 10:05Cool. What have you been streaming? Yeah, well, I know
- 10:09I just talked about it, but I did finish the Jinks Part two.
- 10:13Oh yeah, so I finished it up. Did you like it? It
- 10:18was six episodes and yeah, man, it's just a crazy story. So
- 10:22you get to hear about the aftermath of the first jinx and I told you
- 10:26that the first two episodes that I saw, I kind of went to that.
- 10:31But then it goes into how it leads to a new trial. Okay,
- 10:35cool, but and so we go through all of that, which is
- 10:37crazy, but it also focuses on the people that like helped him get away
- 10:43with so like, there's more things you can think of them. I mean,
- 10:48I wouldn't be surprised if they get another drinks because of these people.
- 10:54Sure, but a really well done doc series, And yeah, I really
- 11:01enjoyed how they made it cool. They did like some it wasn't re enactments,
- 11:07but it was. I mean I guess it was. And it was
- 11:11just kind of like slow motion but really cool shots and like nice gave it
- 11:13a vibe and some good production value and all that. Really good. Nice.
- 11:18That was really good, really cool. And if it's something you think
- 11:20you'd like, you should check it out. It's on max Max. Yes,
- 11:24did it? Uh? Maybe maybe this is spoiler central, But did
- 11:28it have as crazy of an ending? I'm just kidding. I mean,
- 11:33it's not as crazy as the first one, but if you've kept up with
- 11:37it, nothing's going to like surprise you. I heard about it one day,
- 11:41it was like a headline and then I forgot about it. Yeah,
- 11:43so I was, and I didn't look it up before I watched too,
- 11:48so that I could be surprised. But it's just crazy how things and this
- 11:54guy was nuts, just crazy. I'm with you, Like, how did
- 11:58he agree to do this? So dumb? Just like the EU Brits of
- 12:03that is dude, super wild. He would have just been chilling out the
- 12:09rest of his years, probably unless he kept murdering people. Well, yeah,
- 12:13yeah, it's crazy. Crazy man, that's part of part two.
- 12:20Yeah, got it all right, I'll shut up now, you don't have
- 12:24to, but I mean, yeah, anybody can look that. That was
- 12:26one of the things I thought I remembered hearing and maybe that was probably a
- 12:30headline I suppose because but it's just crazy when it happened, what happened because
- 12:35of that, So it's nuts. I'm not having to watch this. I
- 12:39think that would be interesting. Huh. It's pretty crazy. Well, very
- 12:43cool, buddy. Do you think we should do if you plug a rounies?
- 12:46I think we should. Let's do it. Okay, you guys can

- 13:33our podcast and chill version whatever, and we'll do a top five draft that
- 13:37protains to the movie we're talking about. And for this one, we decided
- 13:41to do our top five favorite dumb movie characters. I like this draft a
- 13:46lot. It was it was super easy to prepare for, and I'm also
- 13:52very excited to see like what I missed. I wish I would have really
- 13:56dove in more. I pretty much just looked at I found some I found
- 14:01some good stuff right away. I thought of a few and then I was
- 14:03like, I'm good. But yeah, I'm with you. Yeah, this
- 14:05seems like I could have really dug deep. I think, yeah, I
- 14:09think there's a lot of fun dumb movie characters. Pretty be fun to hear
- 14:13what everybody else came up with. It'll be a good time for sure,
- 14:16So stay tuned for that. Also, stay tuned Jim Carrey June our final
- 14:20installment. Fin'll take just a hard left turn and do eternal Sunshine of the
- 14:26Spotless Mind. I don't remember what anniversary dies. Oh that's the twentieth.
- 14:31Okay, great, So stay tuned for that, especially if you're if you're
- 14:37ready for something a little meteor than you know, a silly, silly comedy.
- 14:39It's a white meteor. I just watched it today and I'm still in
- 14:43my fields. I got to get into dumb and dumber mode. I hear
- 14:46you. I watched it yesterday and I was like, well, this is
- 14:48really it's a whole vibe change, right, It's really a lot. But
- 14:52we are here today to talk about dumb and dumber, celebrating it's thirtieth again
- 14:58as we have up this this great three movie run in that same year.
- 15:03Uh, and you know, Rob is dumb, I'm dumber, and we
- 15:05decided to bring another friend to liven it up and make us a little smarter.
- 15:09So let's welcome in back. It's our buddy Adam Chance. What's up,
- 15:15Chance, Hey, Hey, guys, happy to be back. It's
- 15:18been a little while. It's been a little while, Like I can't remember
- 15:22the last one maybe my cousin Vinnie. I don't know. Wow that long.
- 15:28Yeah, well, we've had a couple of missed opportunities. There's been
- 15:30a couple of times that we chatted about doing this and scheduling true conflicts.
- 15:35Yeah, well, then you know, we get done with a tour and
- 15:37then chances like I'm gonna go on tour with another group because I just love
- 15:41on the road. I love it too much. Oh, I was so
- 15:46mad I didn't get to see you for the listener if they weren't aware.
- 15:50Chance went out with the Longest John's, some really good dudes and they came
- 15:56through Minneapolis, and uh yeah, I had to deal with the kids.
- 16:00So I'm sorry I missed you. I actually was relieved of duty at that
- 16:03point, and I came all the way from Nashville to Minneapolis in a van
- 16:08just to see you, Rob and you couldn't I couldn't do. I didn't
- 16:12want to get you sick. Well, well, for what it's worth,
- 16:15I know, I I appreciate that. Adam Rupp came out to the show
- 16:18and left like two songs before I went and sang on stage the kids,
- 16:26you know, yeah, and he knew I had the set list on my
- 16:30phone. I was like, it's coming up. He's like, I've seen
- 16:33you sing I'm out of here all the time. It's a big deal.
- 16:38That was a super fun show man. That was They put on a great
- 16:41show and and and honestly shout out to those guys, just because I was
- 16:45a fan of them before I even And you know, Rob and I we've
- 16:49always joked if anybody listens the Home Free or falls Home Free, they know
- 16:52the story of the Sea Shannys and yep, how so funny that story is.
- 16:57But it was a fun thing to be a part of. It was
- 17:00worth exhausting myself completely. But I'm happy to be off the road for a
- 17:06second before we have more Home Free business to do coming up. And we
- 17:10missed you on a podcast during that time, but I feel like I trade
- 17:14it up because I got to hang out with you for like two whole days.
- 17:17That's true. Yeah, amazing, Yeah, we and thank you for
- 17:19letting me crash there. It was great to any time time. That used
- 17:25to be Rob's old bed, So I forgot to tell you that before,
- 17:29Buddy, go on there. If you feel a little extra magic, that's
- 17:33what it was. That's what that's what that was. That's what that was.
- 17:36I was scared to bring it up. Sorry about the extra magic.
- 17:42I thought we cleaned that up. Of course, we should put people towards
- 17:49all your projects because you're also working hard to get stuff going. Here.
- 17:53We got the Adam Chance dot com to find, you know, merchandise and
- 17:57tunes that he's released thing and this guy's prolific. He's out here, he's
- 18:02doing it and also going to Patreon dot com slash the Adam Chance uh and
- 18:07and they can see all your projects right away, I presume, right.
- 18:11Yeah, yeah, I mean I've I've been doing it for like four or
- 18:14five months now, so there's quite a lot of material on there. That's
- 18:17amazing. Dude, I love it. And your songs just are amazing.
- 18:19They keep getting better and better. I was just listening to the I think
- 18:23it's a super old one though, but the I almost felt you touching me
- 18:29today, the Blaze Folly song. Yeah, love that. I love that
- 18:33song. Thank you. It's so so good. Yeah, I have a
- 18:34brand. It's it's depressing folk music. Yeah, it's my brand. I
- 18:41know. We've talked about what song we could do together, and I'm like,
- 18:45I don't know. That I cross over with you a lot. I'm
- 18:48sorry too, you're much too happy. So yeah, if any if anybody
- 18:52out there loves to be into somber and depressing folk music, I'm your guy.
- 18:56So yeah, like a like a rainy day or the mist from the
- 19:00sea falling on your crying face. Yes, right here, I say that
- 19:06with all the love in my little heart. I can't deny it. It's
- 19:08the truth. I love it. It's great, well wonderful, So go
- 19:14check out all that stuff. But gentlemen, we are here today to talk
- 19:17about just one of the greatest movies ever. I can't believe we've never done
- 19:21it this week. I can't believe it. I've been waiting for thiswear five
- 19:25years. I swear we talked about it the first week. We talked about
- 19:29putting this podcast for sure, and we were like, we'll save that one.
- 19:33We'll do it, obviously, but we'll save it then. I never
- 19:36thought it would take this long. Unbelievable, But yeah, thirtieth anniversary of
- 19:41Dumb and Dummer, and I just can't wait anymore. So Rob, will
- 19:45you get a start it with just a rough SYNOPSI I would love to imbecilic
- 19:49best friends Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn stumble across a suitcase full of money left
- 19:55behind in Harry's car by Mary's slippy so this Swanson who is on her way
- 20:00to the airport. The pair decided to go to Aspen, Colorado to return
- 20:04the money, unaware that it is connected to a kidnapping. As Harry and
- 20:08Lloyd, who has fallen in love with Mary, are pursued across the country
- 20:11by hired killers and police, they find both their friendship and their brains tested.
- 20:19Nice nice in basilic. That was good, right, that's a right
- 20:25word for this movie. Yeah, that's a word. Calm down, fantastic.
- 20:30Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have to say. Some
- 20:33imbecilic critics have this coming in at sixty eight percent. You kind of had
- 20:38to expect that, right, Yeah, pretty much. I mean they're wrong,
- 20:44but they're absolutely wrong. Yeah, they're wrong. Audience members though had
- 20:48it up quite a bit. They have it at eighty four, which I
- 20:52would posit is still too low, but getting closer. Yeah, agreed,
- 20:56the right direction, getting closer. But let's go right in and say what
- 21:02we think. It's time for our hot hot take. That's a hot take.
- 21:07That's a hot take. Peppers put the ketchup and the mustard at the
- 21:11same time. This nice. I love that so much. Okay, I
- 21:18will go first on this hot take. This is for sure a top five
- 21:23comedy ever. It may be my favorite comedy. I don't know. That's
- 21:27so hard to choose, but it's it is on the mount Rushmore of comedies
- 21:33for me. I've always loved this movie. Like, looking back at it
- 21:37now, I don't think I thought this back in the day, but it's
- 21:41I love that we have these hysterically funny actors that can also act so well
- 21:45in dramas, you know, because I don't think we knew that yet right
- 21:48about Jim at that point. But they they are just so perfect together.
- 21:56They they have they're both absolute morons, but in special ways, you know,
- 22:02and their own unique ways. It's the physical comedy, and this is
- 22:07hysterical. The bits they come up with are hysterical, like their interactions.
- 22:11I love all of it. It's so so good. There's great music in
- 22:14this. That red right hand a song has been used in so many things
- 22:18in so many different ways. It's very versatile. That song, which is
- 22:22really really fun and yeah, I mean, I'm not going to go on
- 22:27too much because I have a feeling like the quote section and stuff is going
- 22:30to be so lo longest ever. So my hot take is hurry Harry.
- 22:36Hurry Harry is both in this film and True Lies, which means that is
- 22:40my favorite line of all time, I guess. So I thought of that
- 22:44this time and I was like, they both came out this year, they
- 22:45both have that line. I love it so much, Sourry Harry. And
- 22:52my additional well, this isn't a hot take, but it's a question.
- 22:56Are we all agreed on who is dumb and who is dumber? I think
- 23:00I know the answer to that. Okay, I would love to hear your
- 23:03guys' answers, but I don't wanna. I don't want to affect it.
- 23:07So yeah, maybe maybe we'll do that at the end of all the hot
- 23:10takes. I don't know what you want to do. You brought it up,
- 23:11let's know, what are you about it now? Yeah? My,
- 23:14my, yeah, I think uh Lloyd Christmas is dumber. Agree, He's
- 23:21so much dumber than Harry. He can't read. It's funny you brought that
- 23:29up because I was literally thinking about that. I was watching the movie today,
- 23:32which I didn't even have to. I don't even need to watch this
- 23:34movie. I watched it so many times that that's the kind of stuff that's
- 23:37going through my head to win. Stumm, Yeah, it's gotta be.
- 23:44However, like Jeff Daniels does do the like like, you know, way
- 23:49more than like Jim Carrey does. Yeah, I know, but I agree.
- 23:55I think just the fact that that Harry can can read is yeah,
- 24:00makes him dumb. Harry is like a normal dumb person you would meet.
- 24:03Lloyd is like we've got, you know, oxygen issues or something like there's
- 24:07something something. I feel like I could do a college thesis on on this
- 24:12particular thing and probably dig deeper and fine, but yeah, there's no time.
- 24:17There's no time I would read every every word of that for sure.
- 24:22And I'm with you, man, Like when I was watching this, I
- 24:25was like, I know every beat of the apparently, like I've seen it
- 24:29so many times. But yes, so uh Hurryry Harry, Harry and the
- 24:33we know who's dumb and who is dumber? Those are the hot takes.
- 24:36Hot take, buddy, Yes, I agree. I also think this is
- 24:40one of my favorite comedies of all time. It's for sure a top five.
- 24:44It's for sure top five films. I quote on the regular oh my
- 24:48god, on tour. You know that's just on here. Top five film
- 24:55that I've seen the most. I've watched it over and over and over and
- 25:00never got sick of it. I wish we had stats for things like that,
- 25:03because I've got to be up there. It's for sure, no way
- 25:06out there. Love it this one. It was written and directed by the
- 25:08Fairly brothers, and this is the movie that put them on the map.
- 25:11This is their directorial debut. They went on to do Kingpin and There's Something
- 25:17about Mary, and they even went on well, Bobby Fairly went on to
- 25:21win an Academy Award for Greenop. But this is where it all started.
- 25:26Super fun road trip movie. I love a road trip movie. Yes,
- 25:32there's like a loose plot where a pretty girl loses her bag. The dumb
- 25:34guys try and get her bag and don't know that people are actively chasing them.
- 25:40But just so many ridiculous and hilarious things happened along the way, and
- 25:45it turns out that's like a really good formula to make a movie. Because
- 25:48I love it. I thought Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels chemistry was great.
- 25:52They were really fun together. Yes, I also agree on the music very
- 25:57nineties movie soundtrack. We got a New Age Girl by Dead Eyed Dick,
- 26:03we got crash test dummies, and who could forget butthole surfers. Of course.
- 26:07Ever, one brilliant thing I never noticed, and it took some TikTok
- 26:11account to make me aware of it. But when when Jim Carrey has gotten
- 26:15the suitcase, like he like goes in between the two people trying to pick
- 26:21it up, and then he's like running to go and give her back the
- 26:25suitcase, there is a woman in a nurse's outfit and she yelled or he
- 26:30yells move it or lose it's sister, which is funny because he thinks she's
- 26:34a nunn, not a nurse. But it's just one of the many amazing
- 26:44little things in this that are so funny. That's hilarious. So I love
- 26:49that. And yeah, my hot take is that I like this movie.
- 26:53I lock it a lot, a lot done. Yeah, good work,
- 26:59good work, thank you, well, I get I it's funny that we
- 27:03line up so much on this And I think you guys, it felt like
- 27:07you were reading my notes, yes, with your hot takes, because this
- 27:11is probably top five, maybe top three comedy films for me, and also
- 27:17one that I've watched probably more than anything that's not Star Wars, and the
- 27:22most quoted movie in my life. And I think that's kind of a true
- 27:26testament to a comedy film for me, is how quotable it is. The
- 27:30quotability, and it's it's more clever in the writing than I think it's giving.
- 27:37Like you know, it's it's a title, it's a dumb movie.
- 27:41The humor seems very dumb, but that's just on the service and underneath it's
- 27:45it's very clever in a lot of ways, and I think that says a
- 27:52lot about like how how well it's written, and beyond that, it's actually,
- 27:57if you'd break down the plot, it's simple, but it's there's no
- 28:00tropes being used. It's kind of an original and unique plot line, you
- 28:04know, I can't really draw any parallels to other films and like stories,
- 28:11so I love that. And a note that I had here that I only
- 28:15noted today was it's kind of a platonic love story. Yeah, sure,
- 28:19because in the end, you know, he doesn't get the girl these after
- 28:23and it's really about the relationship between these two idiots, you know, which
- 28:27is is pretty amazing totally. I also wrote the soundtrack in my notes here
- 28:34because I was watching it today and it put in perspective how nineties music has
- 28:41a sound. It is a time capsule sound. I think the only song
- 28:47that doesn't just feel super nineties is the Nick Cave song, right, yeah,
- 28:52because that one's a little more timeless. But I mean, I love
- 28:55the soundtrack. It's a great soundtrack all in all. Yeah, great movie.
- 29:00And I think if I watched it today and had never seen it have,
- 29:03like, had never watched it before in my life, I think I
- 29:06still would love this movie. I think you're right. I agreed, I
- 29:08think. And I don't know if I should save this for the trivia section
- 29:15or not. It personal trivia today that blew my mind. When we go
- 29:22do a show we do regularly, this show in uh Sandy, Utah.
- 29:29Have you gone out to the Amphitheater. Yeah, we do the Amphitheater there.
- 29:32It's a beautiful amphitheater. You can see the mountains in the background.
- 29:34It's a great show. That one's always good. But where there's this restaurant
- 29:37there that we love that we go to. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
- 29:42yeah, with the peacocks and stuff. I was go back and watch the
- 29:47dream sequence. The entrance to the door is the entrance to Lecai, the
- 29:52French restaurant that we go to every time we're in Sandy Utah. I noticed
- 29:56it today for the first time, and it blew my mind right now.
- 30:00And now let me tell you the story because I was watching this movie I've
- 30:04seen a million times, and we've gone to this restaurant three or four times
- 30:08over the last like seven or eight years. We love this restaurant. So
- 30:12I'm watching and it's a dream sequence, and you know, Mary opens the
- 30:17door to Lloyd and behind him it shows him and you see a peacock and
- 30:21this kind of elaborate driveway, and that's what I was like, It looks
- 30:25like that restaurant in Sandy Utah. And then it zooms out from the door
- 30:30and it literally has a plaque on the side that says Lacai, which is
- 30:33a god. I paused it and went running in the room. Samy was
- 30:38working in here, and I was like, Sammy, Samy, We'll never
- 30:41believe this god is unbelievable. Yeah, next time we go, I'm wearing
- 30:47a sun dress and to reenact that moment is unbelievable. Dude, right I
- 30:56just first scene by the way, Yeah, that's amazing. I love that.
- 31:03So yeah, that blew my mind. But yeah, all in all,
- 31:07one of my all time favorites. That's awesome. That's a lot.
- 31:12Yeah, that's fantastic. Uh well, let's let's go right into it.
- 31:18Let's do a favorite acting performance. Let's name the dude, the dude.
- 31:22I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you know that,
- 31:26or his dude or duder or you know, el dudo reno. If you're
- 31:32not into the whole brevity thing, chance, who's your dude in this movie?
- 31:36You know, Jim Carrey is perfect in this film, Like it's him
- 31:41at his best, facial expressions, timing, everything about it is like the
- 31:45perfect comedic performance. But that being said, gotta go Jeff Daniels. I
- 31:51love it because considering that, you know, this was like his first comedic
- 31:56role, right right. Yeah, And you know you if you've inybody's seen
- 32:00the stories and pops some of my TikTok a lot that you know, the
- 32:04behind the scenes talk of Jim Carrey having to like go to bat to get
- 32:07him in this film, and like it didn't seem like, yes, he
- 32:10even had the job after he was filming it for a certain amount of time.
- 32:14And the fact that he came in and like held his own with like
- 32:20someone we know today who was still kind of up and coming at the time,
- 32:22is like a you know, an all time comedic performer in these kind
- 32:28of films. Jim Carrey says so much, it was like they were equally
- 32:31as funny to me in this film. So yeah, I gotta go with
- 32:36with Jeff Daniels. I love that so much, so much so that I'm
- 32:40going to change my pick and go with Jeff Daniels as Harry Done. And
- 32:45honestly, I think he gets it because of the toilet scene and he just
- 32:52goes all out for that toilet and the face as he makes and the sounds,
- 33:00the sounds are incredible. He reacts to this when the squeak happens,
- 33:04He's like, oh, dude, that is acting at its finest. It's
- 33:09truly, And that that scene I laughed at more today when she's knocking on
- 33:14the door and the things you hear him doing insane. Yes, yeah,
- 33:17is still the shaving so good? Wow, Well I wasn't expecting this.
- 33:24It's a clean sweep. He is also my dude. And because this is
- 33:30gonna sound silly, he is so much more loyal to Lloyd than Lloyd is
- 33:36to Harry. Granted he does lie about the lady and I get all that,
- 33:39but but he is just so much nicer of a friend than Jim Carrey
- 33:45and Lloyd is, and so I love him so much. But all the
- 33:49things you guys said, Jim Carrey is so funny in this so good.
- 33:52Obviously they both need each other to like have these great performances, I think,
- 33:57but Harry really kind of grounds it in a way that doesn't It's obviously
- 34:01still a farce, but it makes it slightly more believable. And and you
- 34:06know, like, because Lloyd is kind of a dick to like in a
- 34:09way that Harry isn't. Like, Harry's just a lovable dummy, and maybe
- 34:14I just want to see myself as a lovable dummy rather than a moron.
- 34:16So, but horrible, he head it sold to a blanket. He's horrible,
- 34:29Harry. I took care of it. Yeah, you're right, he's
- 34:35he's bad. But yeah, I thought Jeff Daniels was awesome in this uh
- 34:38and especially the rewatch. He was just super super fun. And the toilet
- 34:43scene is it's art. It's really really art. It's art. Wow,
- 34:47a clean sweep. I love it. Well, let's talk about that toilet
- 34:52scene. Probably. Oh no, I'm sorry, I jumped ahead. We're
- 34:55gonna do everybody else. Let's talk about the I'm a out of sorts,
- 35:02guys, this is tougher. You know, they Jeff Daniels and Jim Carry
- 35:07are definitely the two guys. What did you what did you pick for your
- 35:10teach? Well, because this is tougher and it's it's kind of just them
- 35:15and and very few supporting people in this movie that you don't see a lot
- 35:20of. I went outside the box. And you know, I'm contractually obligated
- 35:24by choice to bring up Star Wars all the time. So people are asking
- 35:29my favorite Star Wars characters. If I'm doing like a top ten list,
- 35:31I've always included the Millennium Falcon on that list. And now I'll say that
- 35:37because my Tucci Award is going to the eighty four sheep Dog. Cheap dog,
- 35:42sheep Dog. Yeah, that's because that's such an iconic part of this
- 35:45film. It's so good in so many different ways. And then you you
- 35:50know, they spend so much time in there, and it's got a little
- 35:53bit of character, it's got a little bit of a its own personality that's
- 35:58important to the film. So I don't know if you ever had oh sorry,
- 36:02I don't know if you've ever had a van Win Tucci Award, but
- 36:07I'm here to do it. I don't know. The esoteric things. We've
- 36:09definitely picked like pets. Yeah, we've done some things before. Yeah,
- 36:17sure, but I love and I forgot that when he goes and has to
- 36:23put gas in the car that it lifts up the back legs so it looks
- 36:28like, oh my sick. That's amazing. And we've definitely done a draft
- 36:35before where it's our favorite movie vehicles, and this was picked like, oh,
- 36:38it's got to be maybe first. Yeah, it was up there.
- 36:42Sure, Yeah, it's a shagged way. That is a great pick.
- 36:49I did not think of that, and I love that. I wish I
- 36:52would have because that's incredible. However, I'm going to go with one of
- 36:57my favorite scenes in this movie. It is when the state Trooper played by
- 37:01Harlan Williams. Williams and I saw that this is his debut, this is
- 37:07his first movie ever soon just it just absolutely killed me. And yeah,
- 37:14this movie really doesn't have a lot of big supporting characters. He made me
- 37:17laugh the hardest, probably out of any of them. So I'm gonna give
- 37:22it to him. That makes total sense. Yeah, well, I feel
- 37:25like my thunder was stolen a little bit because I was going to pick the
- 37:29scooter. Just I'm kidding the van over the scooter, man, Come on,
- 37:36damn it. I love both of those. A ton shout out to
- 37:40Cam Neely who played Sea Bass. Cam Neely is an NHL player for those
- 37:45who aren't aware, and I thought he did a great job. He didn't
- 37:50have to do a lot. He just kind of had to be intimidating.
- 37:52But that character is so funny. Again, I might be stepping on some
- 37:58trivia toes here. I saw on TikTok recently. He's like a president of
- 38:04a team or something too, right, Yeah, I think he does work
- 38:07off the stuff was and he was so funny to me that that's I would
- 38:14never not think of that if I were in a conference room with that guy.
- 38:16Yeah, that's hilarious. Yeah, I don't I don't know that I
- 38:20could separate that I'm with you. I know that I would never go into
- 38:24the bathroom at two fifteen am. I know that. Yeah, you're here,
- 38:30right. Yeah. He just kicks down the door, very very rude.
- 38:37Uh, and then shout out as well to Karen Duffy and Mike Starr,
- 38:43who were the the like, I don't know the muscle that we're chasing
- 38:46them, I guess so, I don't know what was to say it.
- 38:50Uh. They didn't do a lot, but I thought they were pretty fun
- 38:52and had some had some fun moments, and I loved the reoccurring bit of
- 38:58like, no, these guys are good, Like they're not dumb, they're
- 39:00brilliant. They no, I got gas. I love that. Like the
- 39:07misunderstanding part of that was funny to me. Every it's been every time.
- 39:13I love it. We killed their bird, they killed like killed so dumb.
- 39:21I love that. That's well, you got to bring up Lauren Holly.
- 39:24I mean, Lauren Holly is married now. She really didn't get to
- 39:29do much and she's mostly eye candy in this for the most part, but
- 39:32her scenes with Harry while they're on the slopes. Were really funny. It's
- 39:37super funny. Could have been a nice little rom comis so ridiculous. I've
- 39:44always thought it was so funny when she's just like playfully throwing snow up at
- 39:46him and he just goes hardcore, just like when he winds up and throws
- 39:52it as hard as he can from fay from and the sound effect of its
- 39:57smashing into her face. Also funny to me is that she just left him
- 40:01on the the what do you call it? The seat? Yeah, he
- 40:07gets because he gets his tongue stuck. And then the next thing you see
- 40:10is she's separated from him. So she just got off that lift. Man,
- 40:16he's not gonna get off. I'll go, poor thing. Oh where
- 40:21have you been all day? Yeah? She's pretty great though. I liked
- 40:28her and I definitely had a big crush on her after after this movie when
- 40:32I was whatever eleven. Yeah, yeah, was she in like other like
- 40:38big parts and other stuff that stuff. But remembered after this was was Turbulence,
- 40:47which was kind of an action movie with her and Raliota. I remember
- 40:51that. And she was also in that Beautiful Girls movie that was set up
- 40:54here. Oh yeah, Okay this I could be wrong on this, but
- 41:00I think she was in like an Nintendo AD or something, and I remember
- 41:06it so well when I look at it, it was like this iconic Nintendo
- 41:09AD or something. I'd have to so yeah, but if you're listening to
- 41:13this, look it up and tweet it. M yeah, yeah, find
- 41:15it for us, taging hand it. But yeah, that not not a
- 41:20ton of folks. And like Charles Rockett is the bad guy, but not,
- 41:23you know, not great Terry Garr, who I knew from a lot
- 41:27of stuff, very small role. Who's that she was the the FBI person.
- 41:32No, that's that's Victoria Raul. Terry Garr was the person who was
- 41:37like with Mary and like says, oh Harry, what are you doing?
- 41:43Like you need to tell older the older lady who sets him up on the
- 41:45day owl benefit thing. Exactly. She wasn't a lot of stuff back in
- 41:50the day, A ton of stuff, I mean, young Frankenstein. Like
- 41:53I was surprised at how not utilized she was in this. But yeah,
- 42:00I mean it's because our guys Jim Carrey and Jeff Daners were the guys.
- 42:02You know, they were so silly and fun. I love it. They
- 42:06were, Well, let's let's move on the next bit. Let's do our
- 42:08favorite scene. Let's pickings. So dinas is quite simple, really ingus dingus.
- 42:16I could talk about my dingus all night long. Well, all right,
- 42:21chance, what's your favorite scene? This is equally as tough as the
- 42:24quotes. I think, I agree, because I feel like it's across the
- 42:29board. Every scene has just as much merit as other scenes. But I
- 42:35I kind of narrowed it down to three particular ones. Yes, I think
- 42:40so. You just you mentioned the poop scene. That is number one.
- 42:45That's number one for me. But the other two that I wrote down today
- 42:52is the the whole sequence from the sea bass moment to Harlan Williams getting older
- 42:59and drinking the the beer ye. And then another one for me is the
- 43:02whole dream sequence. Those are my top three I had. The dream sequence
- 43:08is so brilliant, and it's it's another kind of testament to what I was
- 43:14saying in my hot take. It's like it just seems so stupid on the
- 43:16surface, but if you really break it down, it's it's so clever because
- 43:21you know, you laugh at this stupid one liner that he tells this family.
- 43:24Yes, and it's so and you like, there's no setup to the
- 43:28joke, but it's so funny because the line is so dumb. And then
- 43:31beyond that, he's with just a bunch of strangers. These aren't her actual
- 43:36friends, which is kind of brilliant, Like he's having this dream in his
- 43:39mind. He doesn't know who she hangs out with, so he's just envisioned
- 43:42all these random family members in this scene. Yeah, it's so good,
- 43:49so good. Well and then uh, then he fights the whole weight staff
- 43:53and with taking the ship's heart out. Yeah, and it is my favorite.
- 44:05The end of the Oh, the incredible his his karate noises get me
- 44:10every time. They're so good and they don't match up, so he's clearly
- 44:15doing it like after the fact. And then it ends with him just pretty
- 44:21much devouring her mouth and they he like takes his jacket off, she takes
- 44:30her top off, looks down, and then you see that her breasts are
- 44:36headlights. Thats up. It's iconic. It's iconic. And just his confused
- 44:40face like, dude, yeah, for sure, that was my runner up
- 44:47to the toilet scene because that will always be number one. That is that
- 44:52is my humor, big time. And then yes, followed up by the
- 44:59State Troopers with maybe the best uh like throwaway line and you just hear tic
- 45:07tac sir god. That scene might have the most like bang for its buck,
- 45:14I think in quotability, like the little the pullover, so good.
- 45:16Yeah, what are you a camel? You know everything, every line,
- 45:24every line in that scene is incredible, it's perfect. I had one other
- 45:30one I'll throw out, and it's just an amazing opening scene. Again,
- 45:36we did another draft with the funniest open scenes and this was picked. But
- 45:39the limo driver bit another very quotable bit that we always do. But the
- 45:44fact that he, you know, goes to the back pretends that he's we
- 45:49know, he's a limo driver. Then it cuts to Jeff Daniels in the
- 45:52in the shagging wagon and his whole you know, getting the dogs there and
- 46:00with all the mustard catchup and so good. So you get a very good
- 46:05you understand who these characters are and they're not very bright, yeah right away.
- 46:08Yeah sure, when he closes the window with his head still in,
- 46:13it comes up a little bit. Yeah, but you know that that's not
- 46:19in the script. That's a Jim Carrey's just playing around in the window and
- 46:23getting it and like not fitting call. Yeah, comedic timing is perfect.
- 46:31I know we've talked about it a lot, but the him pooping his brains
- 46:37out is the funniest thing of all time. And it's made extra funny to
- 46:43me because it's on a date and like, oh, I think we've all
- 46:47had that panic to maybe not to this degree, but to some degree when
- 46:52business needs to be taken care of. If you don't, we're not ready
- 46:55for that conversation. But whatever. The toilet actually not working at all,
- 47:02like you know situations, but yeah, doesn't work at all. I mean
- 47:07I think I think one of the scariest moments in a human's life is when
- 47:13you're at someone else's house and the toilet won't flush. Oh what's coming up?
- 47:17No, it's b I straight up fixed a toilet on a date once
- 47:22because I had to go and it was no, it wasn't anything terrible,
- 47:27but I was like, I took the lid off and was like, we're
- 47:30figuring this out right now, because this is not not on my watch.
- 47:37I just love the high brow podcast you guys got going here talking about the
- 47:40poop scene. For about fifty of this conversation and it's so worth it.
- 47:45It's I'm not criticizing what he's like. I'm shaving and you hear like just
- 47:52stuffing around, and when she's got to leave, he's like Mary, just
- 47:57the way he says that gets me every time. And you hear stuff flying
- 48:01everywhere. So good, so good. So I love that scene. I
- 48:06just felt like we hadn't given that quite a rough time. Good call.
- 48:10Uh. The the burger in the Peppers scene is just delightful. The like
- 48:17again, squirting the ketchup and mustard. This helps, he doesn't Jim Carrey
- 48:25just being like, yeah, tried to get the ketchup? Yes, yeah,
- 48:31I mean that's so so funny. I love that so much. And
- 48:37like, again, they were so smart they gave him rat poison and killed
- 48:42him and all these things, but it's just because they're morons. I love
- 48:45all that. And he was the one guy that knew that they were morons
- 48:49at that point, like he had just discovered it, right, So that's
- 48:51perfect for the writing and the plot. They accidentally killed this guy who's the
- 48:55only one so far that knows that they're just morons. Yeah, because he
- 49:00probably just would have killed him, right, Yeah, oh they're just idiots.
- 49:04Cool, no problem. I love that. Uh. Just the again,
- 49:10the diner scene, you spilled the salt, He's like, you have
- 49:14the throat over your shoulder, just chucks it. The way that he immediately
- 49:19was just like, oh yeah cool, just the shicker over think about it
- 49:22at all. Yeah, so great, Lloyd like totally selling Harry out and
- 49:29just like pointing at him right away and like all of that right, so
- 49:32good, so so funny. I love that whole thing. And then they
- 49:37get away and they're like, what happened in the movie, you know,
- 49:38it's like they caught up with him and split his throat or whatever. I
- 49:43love that so crazy, love that whole thing. Yeah. Otherwise I think
- 49:49we said the other one was the snowball as hard as he can in her
- 49:52face two feet away, just what's cracking? So good and then just like
- 49:57shoving her face into the snow and just yeah, then does the whole like
- 50:01you put him up and she starts laughing and then he laughs hysterico. Yeah
- 50:07what am I? The other one that I wrote down one of the funniest
- 50:13endings to a movie ever, The Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Girls looking for two guys
- 50:20to help oil them up before their ship. It's so funny to me.
- 50:25And then you realize it and it's it's probably the best little switch bit,
- 50:30so great, best do you realize what you've done? So good? I
- 50:37love that. Also, the this is a moment, but it's not quite
- 50:42a quote, so I guess I'll say it now when when Lloyd sees Harry
- 50:47and what's her married together and he does the like the dry heating line.
- 50:59I use that gift all the time. Yes, it's so ben Ellige has
- 51:05taken that and he does it perfectly. It's so good, bit that you
- 51:12guys, because I think you guys brought that into my life other than this
- 51:15movie, you at least propagated it. And I love it so much,
- 51:20dude, it's so good. And thank you for remembering that. That's brilliant.
- 51:23I'm a sucker for any time someone is almost vomiting, just a verge
- 51:28of yeah, so great, agreed, so so good. And you're right
- 51:34that that gift is like ever green. It is perfect, perfect gift,
- 51:38dude. There's a lot of good gifts, a lot. Yeah, you're
- 51:42right, a lot. Just during the Timberwolves playoffs, we saw a few
- 51:45of us. Yes, I think we're getting dangerously close to wanting to quote
- 51:51more and we should devote some more time to it. I think we all
- 51:53agree the toilet scene is the dingus for picking. It has to be.
- 52:00So let's move along and let's go to show me the mony, show me
- 52:02the money, show me you do like ten chance. Yeah. Well,
- 52:15you know, I was prepared for this moment because we've talked about this and
- 52:19like I we you know, I think bugs even use the term table read
- 52:23because it could this could end up just being a table read of this entire
- 52:27movie. The three of us know it so well. So instead of like
- 52:30some of the heavy hitters, I have a couple of that are probably still
- 52:31heavy hitter here, heavy hitters here, I went kind of with some deep
- 52:35cuts from quotes totally the first like you know, everybody knows, like the
- 52:39big gulps, like all right, see well, see you later. Yeah.
- 52:44One of my favorite big quotes from this that that we quote all the
- 52:46time is I thought the Rocky Mountains be a little rockier in this John Denver's
- 52:52fullish, Yeah, John Denver's foolish, brilliant, the funniest lines ever readen
- 52:59ever, It's brilliant, so beyond that. My deep cuts. One of
- 53:06them that I didn't you know, you may not notice on your first or
- 53:08second watching is after Mental has died from the rat poison and they're driving away.
- 53:15He goes, he blamed me. You heard him. Those were his
- 53:17last words. His last words were son of a bitch. Yeah, so
- 53:23as he's dying. So I think that's a clever little thing. That's one
- 53:28of my favorite underrated lines. Maybe is they're in the little love pool like
- 53:32a love tub, the heart shaped, yes, the heartship tub. And
- 53:36he goes, I thought we were going to be together forever. Then about
- 53:38two weeks later, she wrote me a John Deere letter letter, not a
- 53:45single job in this town unless you want to work forty hours a week.
- 53:50That's so good. What are you? Why are you going to the airport?
- 53:52Flying somewhere? And then he says, She goes, how'd you guess?
- 53:59And he's like, well, I saw your bags, and when I
- 54:00saw the airline ticket, I put two and two together. He explaining his
- 54:06logic there as if you need all of that to get there, Uh,
- 54:12that's tell her I have a rapist wit, Oh dude, Jesus. And
- 54:29another one is they're looking through the people at the early in the movie when
- 54:35the two thugs are there and he says one of them's got a gun and
- 54:38his first thought is did you pay the gas bill? Like that, that's
- 54:45so brilliant for these characters because it's like someone if you saw someone at your
- 54:49door with a gun, that would never be what you think. These guys
- 54:52think that they're that's how the world works. And then beyond that, there's
- 54:58stuff that Rob and I quote regular all the time, and some of them
- 55:02are really dumb little pulls from this movie, like why don't you up and
- 55:06we'll tell you Yes, we ll pills are good? Are good? Uh?
- 55:12Radio? Who needs radio? Yeah? Move to lose his sister.
- 55:16One that we've gotten into quoting during football season is anytime a team that's playing
- 55:22against us, yes, their quarterback has the ball, we now always say
- 55:27kill him, kill him. Yes. I was telling Kelsey. I was
- 55:31like, I figured I figured out there's so many quotes that I take from
- 55:36this, and I was like, the kill him is from this. She
- 55:37was like, no way, yes, yeah, because we do say that
- 55:42that every football game. Almost Yes, And then uh, you big goof
- 55:46Rob and I say that one on your big goof, your big goof.
- 55:52And finally one that I say all the time is some people just weren't cut
- 55:57out for life on the road. Very fitting for our lives. Yeah,
- 56:01it is very true. So there's a there's I you know about fifty for
- 56:05you that I gave. Yes, I tried to get you. Did you
- 56:08did? So yeah, we'll do some of that low hanging fruit here.
- 56:13We got no food, we got no jobs. Our pets heads are falling
- 56:17off. So good. Also, let's talk about that bit. That bit
- 56:22is so funny. You sold the right he was dada, so yeah,
- 56:29and he's like his head fell off, Yeah he was. He was pretty
- 56:32old. He was pretty old. He is one of my favorites. So
- 56:38the you know, Lloyd, just when I think you couldn't possibly be any
- 56:43dumber, you go and do something like this and totally redeem yourself. We
- 56:50love that. So good. Twenty miles to the gown on the SoC so
- 56:54good, so good. He got to do that. Do you realize what
- 56:59you've done? And then you'll have to excuse my friend, he's a little
- 57:02slow. The town is back that way, so good. When he's talking
- 57:10about how Freida Felcher broke up with him, and he's like, she gave
- 57:15me a bunch of crap about me not listening to her or something. I
- 57:16don't know. I wasn't really paying attention. Yeah, that's so fun.
- 57:21One time we successfully made it a bulldog with the shitsu. Really, that's
- 57:25weird. Yeah, we called it a bullshit equally in that scene, maybe
- 57:31right before that. What does she say any unusual breeding? Yeah, yeah,
- 57:37usually just doggy style, usually just doggy styff. But he's like serious,
- 57:42like about it, yeah, and think it. No, I didn't
- 57:46get that one at eleven man, there's so many Oh okay. So he's
- 57:54rehearsing what he's gonna say to Mary, like, I'm crazy about you.
- 57:59I've never felt this way about anybody. Listen to me. I feel like
- 58:01a schoolboy again, a schoolboy who desperately wants to make sweet, sweet love
- 58:07to you. Mary comes into the room. So I thought I heard you
- 58:09talking to someone, Mary, I I desperately want to make love to a
- 58:15schoolboy. And then the look on his face like that one gets me every
- 58:22time. Every time. It's about the worst screw up you can make in
- 58:27that scenario. And it's like that such a great twist on like a very
- 58:31common movie trope of this, like rehearsing into the mirror totally. You know,
- 58:36it's just a bit twist on that. Why don't you say some bugs?
- 58:39I still have about thirty five mores? Sam, Sam, I know
- 58:44we said it earlier, but no, it's a cardigan. But thanks for
- 58:47noticing. It's the best. When he follows it up with killer bootsman is
- 58:53I laughed so hard at that line. It's so funny. Ttok's all right,
- 59:01before that, come on, give me that booze your little pumpkin pie
- 59:05hair cut? It freak. He's so mad right away. Uh, well,
- 59:12pardon me, mister prefect. I guess I forgot. You never make
- 59:15a mistake. Yeah, I've said that so many times when I've been like
- 59:22done something dumb or whatever, you know, really great. Uh when they're
- 59:29when they finally get to Aspen on the little scooter and they're like, who
- 59:32are there? Who are there? Over? And I love that line so
- 59:37much, who there? Holy geez, look at the butt on that.
- 59:44Yeah he must work out. Yeah, that's an evergreen one for sure.
- 59:49For sure. Uh, you've had this pair of extra gloves this whole time.
- 59:53Yeah, that in the Rockies. Yes, I'm going to kill you.
- 59:59I'm gonna to kill you so good. But the yeah, we're in
- 1:00:02the Rockies. You can have my extra gloves. They're starting to get a
- 1:00:07little sweaty. My hands are a little sweety. And then he and then
- 1:00:15when he's choking him, he's like, Harry, your hands are freezing so
- 1:00:23good. Now those are I O U s. Those are as good as
- 1:00:27money. And you're gonna want to hold onto that. That's a big one.
- 1:00:32Uh but what if he shot you in the face? What if he
- 1:00:37shot me in the face. That's risk we are willing to take you.
- 1:00:43I love that. Uh do you get some more? Oh my god,
- 1:00:45that's a lovely accent. You have New Jersey Austria Austria. Well then good
- 1:00:51day, mate, Let's put another shrimp on the bobby. He confuses Australia
- 1:00:58with Austria's so funny, so good. I alluded to it earlier. But
- 1:01:02the what's your last name? I'll look it up, you know I don't
- 1:01:06recall starts with an US. Let's see swim Swammy's slappies Swimson Swanson. The
- 1:01:10fact that he gets, oh, the fact that he gets there is brilliant,
- 1:01:15and that U the soup dire one gets me too. I had that
- 1:01:20one on. Yes, that sounds good. I don't have that. Oh
- 1:01:25it's perfect. Yes, yes, I can get you gambling before the end
- 1:01:31of the day. That's it. I don't know how the only other thing
- 1:01:39that I have here, and I don't know if this was this is kind
- 1:01:42of mix between quote and scene, but it's when he's the whole the whole
- 1:01:47bit where he's in getting annoyed and he's ready to like pull out his gun
- 1:01:51right away, and he's like, you want to hear the most annoying sound
- 1:01:53of the world and all that, and then who needs radio? But then
- 1:01:58when they pick up that like Spanish speaking family, Yeah, and they were
- 1:02:01singing along. That really really gets me every time. See, I love
- 1:02:13that. That's really great. The one that kept coming up during the Timberwolves
- 1:02:17playoff run. It was like, you know, late, to me straight,
- 1:02:22what are my chances? I'd say more like one out of a million,
- 1:02:27So you're telling me there's a chance. That's such a good one.
- 1:02:30We haven't said that yet. That's great, So that's an iconic one.
- 1:02:34I think it well. And then he finds out she has a husband.
- 1:02:38He's like, husband, Wait a minute, what was all that? One
- 1:02:42in a million talk? So good? That's good. You can't triple stamp
- 1:02:47a double stamp, you can't, Lloyd. I think of that one in
- 1:02:51my head all the time. It's like, there's never a reason to quote
- 1:02:54that, but I think of that all the time for some reason, that
- 1:02:57one particular line that right, yeah, why would you have you meet her
- 1:03:02in a bar at ten in the morning? I just figured she was a
- 1:03:06raging alcoholic. We landed on the moon, Yes, yes, dude,
- 1:03:13that's so good. That one's great on multiple levels too, because it's funny
- 1:03:20that he didn't realize we had landed on the moon. But he's also reading
- 1:03:23a newspaper framed article and he doesn't put it together that this has happened before
- 1:03:28today or like more than you know, a few days ago, and it's
- 1:03:31like weathered. Yeah, yeah, everything about that should tell him this is
- 1:03:37old news, and he's just so excit. Also another great gift. There
- 1:03:44you go, there you go, there you go. As he's handing up
- 1:03:47money, Yeah, there you go. So good. Well, I guess
- 1:03:51they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel can still
- 1:03:55serve a purpose. I'll be right back. Don't you going on me?
- 1:04:00That? That one reminds me of one that I only I kind of caught
- 1:04:04today because it's separated by the scene with the old lady. He's like,
- 1:04:10go out and get the Bear Essentials, and he's like, it better be
- 1:04:13the Bear sentils. But then it cuts to him with the you know,
- 1:04:15the stuff that's obviously and that's kind of a bit. But when he walks
- 1:04:19back in, Jeff Daniels goes, where's the booze? Yeah, And I
- 1:04:26never really put it to that together. Also, doesn't the like news he
- 1:04:30stops for that NUDI mag Doesn't it just say like Rhode Island Road Island right
- 1:04:35Island slut which fun fact, I the first time I had this movie was
- 1:04:41illegally VHS recorded off of like HBO or something or not. It wasn't HBO,
- 1:04:45it was like TBS or something, so little things like that that was
- 1:04:48like edited out. So it was like, oh sure, yeah, So
- 1:04:53then I got to enjoy the movie because I wore that VHS out. I
- 1:04:56was like, you know, it was in high school or something, you
- 1:04:58know for sure, and watching it a million times and then later in life
- 1:05:00when I get it on like DVD or Blu ray or something, I was
- 1:05:03like, this is a holy you had said it before. But when we
- 1:05:09come in on the middle of his telling of the joke, he says,
- 1:05:13I said, do you love me? She said no. That's a really
- 1:05:16nice sche mask everything I said so many times. Oh my god, like
- 1:05:23shoves the bullet nuts in his face, like fires them at its open mouth
- 1:05:30in his mind. That's just a killer bit. And that's what's so great
- 1:05:33about it. But so like, think about this. You're in a writer's
- 1:05:36room and you're like, we have to write the end of the punchline to
- 1:05:40a joke. Yeah, yeah, but it also kind of has to be
- 1:05:43funny without having any context. And that's that's that one does it for me,
- 1:05:46and it's stuck perfect forever. Yeah, I've heard you got that one
- 1:05:50for sure. Oh my god. Well, and obviously just kickers out sea
- 1:05:58back said that a million times. Yes, just go man, oh god,
- 1:06:06that's worse. Oh the Skis, that's one that's on my list.
- 1:06:12Yeah, yeah, those your Skis, both of them, both of them,
- 1:06:16cool them, So my god. One that I quote a lot with
- 1:06:20Rob for some reason, or I've quoted a couple of times, is yeah,
- 1:06:25just give me that damn number. Yes, yes, because I never
- 1:06:30I had never heard somebody quote that before, and I knew exactly what it
- 1:06:34was. Maybe I don't remember the context of how I quoted that, but
- 1:06:38I used it somewhere and it felt right. But that's it worked. I
- 1:06:43used to do the just the tractor beam, suck me right now? Yes,
- 1:06:47so little, just a little dumb line, but right it was with
- 1:06:51me forever. I love the bit when she's telling him when to pick him
- 1:06:57up. So he's like, so you picked me up tonight at seven forty
- 1:06:59five. Yeah, well, you know, I got a few things to
- 1:07:00take care of first, But why don't we make a quarter day? And
- 1:07:04she starts laughing, stop it. Okay, yeah, okay, then we
- 1:07:12haven't said it yet. But goodbye, my love, Oh my god,
- 1:07:15Yes, say that all the time. Yes, I have that one.
- 1:07:18I have that one of my notes alongside I Hate goodbyes. When he's giving
- 1:07:25her a hug to this lady that he's just met, and it's so dramatic.
- 1:07:30It's so dramatic. Oh, the whole lugs good. I hate goodbyes.
- 1:07:34H goodbye my love so good. Man, I'd have to be a
- 1:07:39real low life to go rooting around in someone else's property, is it,
- 1:07:42Locke? Yeah? Really well, really really well? And he slams it.
- 1:07:45Uh yeah, damn it. How hard did you laugh when you're just
- 1:07:51the cut to pretty Bird? Oh my god, it might be my favorite
- 1:07:58cut in the whole movie. You say, pretty bird, pretty bird?
- 1:08:04So good? I feel like such a jerk, was so horrible. It's
- 1:08:10a pretty bird man. Yeah, you did the super Yes, that's so
- 1:08:17good. Pills are good. Yeah, I did it. I think I
- 1:08:23think we went through all mine. I think so too on my end.
- 1:08:27Yeah, that's incredible where we could dangerously keep going and we would quit the
- 1:08:32whole thing, I think, you know for sure, Yeah, that was
- 1:08:36restrained. That was the still. That was us trying to not say the
- 1:08:43entire movie, and we still batch of those I didn't even write down.
- 1:08:45I'm just saying to them, yeah for sure. Yeah that's great. Well,
- 1:08:51thanks for remembering new Home Free songs. But I know this word for
- 1:08:59work, word for word, because we need this boulder. Yeah yeah,
- 1:09:05Well, why don't we move on to the next section. Let's go to
- 1:09:09mugs boohoo, moments way the crying game. Now, I don't think you
- 1:09:15actually cried about anything, even with that the gagging scene. That's about as
- 1:09:24far as we get. But were you laughing or were you crying from laughing
- 1:09:30at any point? Because I didn't think about that, because that would be
- 1:09:34that would be tough. It takes a lot for me to cry. It
- 1:09:39takes way more for me to cry from laughing, for sure. Just cry,
- 1:09:43Yeah makes sense. I think the first time I saw that toilet scene,
- 1:09:45I was wipey. Yes, Oh yeah, I don't think I did
- 1:09:54though this time. Okay, yeah, So but you didn't actually cry to
- 1:09:59something heartfelt, did you? No? No, Okay, I know this
- 1:10:02movie too well. I will say I got close because before I was like,
- 1:10:06this is a zero, no problem, right, no worries. But
- 1:10:12I was kind of close on I'm sick and tired of being nobody. That
- 1:10:16almost got me, Like I was like, damn, eak my way through
- 1:10:20life. That's that's one that I wrote down because I the same thought.
- 1:10:25I didn't think that you had an actual booo moment in this, but if
- 1:10:28you did, because Jim Carrey's delivery of that line is kind of a sign
- 1:10:33of things. To come and his dramatic acting. I agreed, he dramatic
- 1:10:39delivery of that, that whole little dialogue and then he lets him cry into
- 1:10:43his shoulder and let it out. Okay, yeah, but that was the
- 1:10:51closest I got. This is a zero cry situation. It's been zero for
- 1:10:56all three of the Jim Carrey moves we've done. I was gonna say,
- 1:10:59and I is there. I've cried during comedies before, right, I wouldn't
- 1:11:02put it past you, And not that there's anything wrong with that, but
- 1:11:04is there a running list? Do we know how many what's the ranking of
- 1:11:10movies with the boohom moments and the ones with not Oh? The number one
- 1:11:15was didn't didn't Lord of the Rings beat out the Endgame? I think?
- 1:11:19All? Yeah, the Return of the King was like I think we got
- 1:11:24into the fifties. It was something something insane, and before that it was
- 1:11:29Endgame I think it was. And that I think it was in the thirties
- 1:11:32and that I bet I average, like, I don't know, six.
- 1:11:38Yeah, we've had quite a few zeros this year. I want these infographics,
- 1:11:41you know, listeners, this is something else to do. Give me
- 1:11:44an infographic that says what's the percentage of movies that there are boohom moments versus
- 1:11:48the ones that are not? Oh? Probably is it that high that are
- 1:11:56Yeah, it's gotta be. I mean I think we are just hitting maybe
- 1:12:00double digits of movies where you you don't. Yeah, not even percentage actual.
- 1:12:05But I didn't cry. Yeah, that's fair. That is fair.
- 1:12:09It's usually ah, if not many, Yeah, that's fair. Yeah,
- 1:12:16it's most of them. Sure. But Return of the King, I was
- 1:12:20like, I don't know what you want from me, man, this is
- 1:12:23my favorite movie franchise. Yep, I mean choked up with it, and
- 1:12:27I'm never really get choked up in movies, so that one I get.
- 1:12:31I was basically crying like once every two minutes in that movie. It was
- 1:12:35it was something like that. But yeah, well hit us with some movie
- 1:12:40trivia, do Yeah, I will actually have quite a few for this.
- 1:12:43So yeah, I noticed that if I get boring. When Harry and Luter
- 1:12:47in the car, Lloyd asked if Harry wants to hear the most annoying sound
- 1:12:50in the world. This was not in the script and it is ad libbed,
- 1:12:54and you can tell by Jeff Daniel's face, which is really great.
- 1:13:00The also ad libbed was the we landed on the moon that wasn't supposed to
- 1:13:05happen, and he just went for it. Apparently like the that was that
- 1:13:11picture was there and he just went for it, I guess, which is
- 1:13:13incredible. Uh oh, So after this scam see vass and pay for their
- 1:13:17bill, Lloyd says that he saw on a movie. The movie he's speaking
- 1:13:21of is a movie called Something Wild from nineteen eighty six, and the guy
- 1:13:26who pulls the scam is played by Jeff Daniels. And I think that's brilliant.
- 1:13:30That's so that's my favorite. I love it. I never knew that.
- 1:13:34I did not. Yeah, I didn't know that either, And I
- 1:13:35think that's so great and I love that so much. As we sort of
- 1:13:43we touched on this, but Jeff Daniels wasn't originally wanted for the film.
- 1:13:46Jim Carrey really was, you know, back to Maton and wanted a minute.
- 1:13:50In order to ensure a no from him, the Fairly Brothers in the
- 1:13:56studio offered Daniels just fifty grand for the role. He apparently accepted without hesitation,
- 1:14:01nor did he attempt to negotiate, despite insistence from his agent that it
- 1:14:05would kill his career, and by nineteen ninety four of the film was Daniel's
- 1:14:11most successful. Brilliant, Yeah, brilliant. So that's pretty wild. He
- 1:14:15really took a chance. I hope he got some back end or something,
- 1:14:18at least think jeeper scrapers. Let's see, Jim Carrey had chipped his tooth
- 1:14:26years earlier than this movie, but he had the kapp removed for the film
- 1:14:30to make his character look more deranged. When it worked, it was perfect,
- 1:14:33it was perfect. He was offered Jim Carrey was offered a seven hundred
- 1:14:38grand to appear in the movie, but the offer went in the same week
- 1:14:43that Ace Venture A Pet Detective opened at number one in the US, so
- 1:14:46by the time the agents had renegotiated with the producers, his salary had upped
- 1:14:50itself to seven million dollars, which was approximately half of the film's budget.
- 1:14:58Wow wow, Yeah, ninety four was a good year for mister Jim Carrey.
- 1:15:02That's crazy, insanity. Also, they made a movie for like fifteen
- 1:15:08million dollars. That's awesome. Yeah, that's hard to be nowadays. Yeah,
- 1:15:13that's kind of crazy. Granted that was ninety four money, but still,
- 1:15:16you know, anyway, Jeff Daniels claimed he was at a golf course
- 1:15:20one day when Clint Eastwood told him that he had just seen Dumb and Dumber.
- 1:15:25Daniels braced himself for a negative reaction, but to his surprise, Eastwood
- 1:15:29wanted to tell him that the bathroom scene had happened to him once when he
- 1:15:32was on a date, and Daniels later co starred with him in Blood Work.
- 1:15:36Man, if I could be a fly on the wall watching Clint Eastwood
- 1:15:41watch Dumb and Dumber for the first time, that's incredible. I think that's
- 1:15:45where he got his talking to a chair bit from he was first talking to
- 1:15:47the toilet all those years. Yeah, that's really that is something. What
- 1:15:56do you think Daniels was like, what is happening right now? Yeah?
- 1:16:00Ask he what's telling him that story? Crazy? Ah, just some more
- 1:16:06stuff about like you know. Obviously they his agents tried to get Daniels not
- 1:16:12to take the role. That when the film went to the top of the
- 1:16:15box office, it gave Jim Carrey the distinction of being the first actor to
- 1:16:19have three films go straight to number one in one year, and the other
- 1:16:25two we already covered. Obviously, the mask and acepin Sure, a pet
- 1:16:27detective. During filming, Jim Carrey stayed the night at the Stanley Hotel and
- 1:16:33requested to stay in the infamous room to two seventeen, which was featured in
- 1:16:39The Shining. According to the tour guide at the hotel, about three hours
- 1:16:43after Carrie went to sleep, he came running out of the room and left
- 1:16:45the hotel. To this day, he vows never to go back and won't
- 1:16:49tell anyone why. Oh wow, So that's someone's spooky spooky. He also
- 1:16:57kind of seems like the type that would be like, this is my bit
- 1:16:59and I'm still to it because he just thinks it's funny or whatever. But
- 1:17:02spooky either way, let's see. According to Jeff Daniels, none of the
- 1:17:09scenes between Carrie and himself were filmed during the first week of production because the
- 1:17:14studio was still prepared to replace him in the role, which I think is
- 1:17:17wild, even going so far as to have a comedian on stand by waiting
- 1:17:23to take the role. I never saw who that was anywhere, but they
- 1:17:27had someone ready to roll either. Yeah, that's weird. Usually that information
- 1:17:32kind of comes out at some point, right, especially at this point,
- 1:17:35right like it's been long enough. But yeah, they decided to let him
- 1:17:41keep it because he's great. Obviously. Let's see, I thought this was
- 1:17:45wild. The original screenplay began as a concept written by John Hughes, which
- 1:17:50I never knew until I did this. Hughes had written fifty pages. He
- 1:17:56hired the Fairly Brothers and Bennett Yellen, gave them those pages and told them
- 1:18:01to come back when they worked out the plot. They went away, came
- 1:18:04back, pitched the entire thing to Hughes, who loved it and told them
- 1:18:09to go write the script. However, by the time the script had been
- 1:18:12turned in, Hughes' studio deal had ended and all the projects he was working
- 1:18:16on were dropped. After two or three years, Yelling and the Fairlies went
- 1:18:20to Hughes and asked him if they could try to do something with the script.
- 1:18:24He said yes, but that they couldn't use his name, and as
- 1:18:28part of the deal Hughes made with the directors, his name is stripped from
- 1:18:30the project completely, which I wonder if he regrets that, but I guess
- 1:18:36he's done it. He did pretty well. Yeah, apparently. Jeff Daniels
- 1:18:44jokes sometimes that the toilet scene is his Oscar clip, which I think is
- 1:18:47fantastic. He should have won something for it. When film critic Roger Ebert
- 1:18:55went to see the film, he wasn't very positive about the movie as a
- 1:18:58whole, but he did admit that he laughed so loudly that he embarrassed himself
- 1:19:02during the scene where Billy the blind boy is seen stroking the Harry's dead pet
- 1:19:06bird Petie. Ebert added that he did not laugh as loudly again or very
- 1:19:12often, which was fine because quote, if the whole movie had been as
- 1:19:15funny as that moment, I would have required hospitalization. That's hilarious, man,
- 1:19:20I love that. So he loved the Pretty Bude so funny. And
- 1:19:30then the last one that I have is Jim Carrey refused to shoot an alternate
- 1:19:33ending of Harry and Lloyd getting on the bus with the Hawaiian Tropic girls because
- 1:19:39he was just like, that's not nearly as funny, and he's totally right,
- 1:19:44Like, I love that. He was just like, no, I'm
- 1:19:46not giving you that option out of here. No, So that was all
- 1:19:51I wrote down. There were a lot of people up for things I saw.
- 1:19:56An early draft of the film had Mel Gibson as Mary's husband playing himself
- 1:20:00in a cameo role, and it was going to be a gag because at
- 1:20:02the time, Gibson was one of Hollywood's biggest heart throbs and somebody like Lloyd
- 1:20:06Christmas couldn't possibly hope to compete with him. An earlier script had Steve Martin
- 1:20:15and Martin Short as Lloyd. They both turned it down, which would be
- 1:20:21way different, way different, still would have been great. I'm guessing for
- 1:20:27sure. Nicholas Cage and Gary Oldman were the original choices to play Harry and
- 1:20:32Lloyd. Wow, which picture even for a week? I would love to
- 1:20:39go to the timeline where that happened, just to see see it. Yeah,
- 1:20:45I saw Rob Lowe was up for the part, later taken by Jeff
- 1:20:48Daniels when he started doing comedies shortly after this. That makes sense. Ben
- 1:20:57Stiller, Eddie Murphy, and Mike Myers were considered for Lloyd, which probably
- 1:21:01all could have worked. Yeah. Roger Clemens was originally cast as Sea Bass.
- 1:21:09At the time they were shooting the scenes that required Sea Bass, Clemens
- 1:21:13couldn't get away from his baseball regiment to be on set. Cam Neely immediately
- 1:21:17took clemens place Clemens was later cast in the Fairly Brothers next movie, Kingpin
- 1:21:23as the role skid Mark. I saw that. Oh and last one.
- 1:21:30Halle Berry was offered the roles of both Mary Swantson and Beth Jordan, but
- 1:21:33turned them down. Wow wow, which makes a lot of sense. They're
- 1:21:38both very small roles. Yeah, yeah, not that big a deal,
- 1:21:42But that was all I had. Nice chance. Did you have any other
- 1:21:45trivia that we didn't say required? The only one that stood out to me
- 1:21:50that I've I've always loved is the one the reference to the other film from
- 1:21:56the Sea Bass chase scene or like that, you know, the fact that
- 1:21:59it was referencing film that Jeff Daniels was actually in, or the fact that
- 1:22:04the restaurant is a place that home free frequents that appeared in that movie.
- 1:22:11That one. I I can't wait to tell Tim about that one, because
- 1:22:14Tim's of course the one that discovered this place, and we as you know,
- 1:22:18I think Tim and I even have like a prom style picture that we
- 1:22:21took outside that place that might be in the background where you see but I
- 1:22:27got to rewatch it. I mean, I've seen that a million times,
- 1:22:29but I got to see the the plan. You will recognize it behind his
- 1:22:32head and it'll say the plac the plaque has the name on it, which
- 1:22:34is where I because I already was like, that's that looks like the place,
- 1:22:39and then confirmed, I can't believe that they don't have that listed somewhere
- 1:22:43in the restaurant. I know. I guess they're like this is because there
- 1:22:45it's like a French breakfast in place. They're probably they think they're too good
- 1:22:49for dumb and dumber my point, Yeah, well cool, Well will there
- 1:23:00a sequel judgment? Did? There was number two, which was pretty great,
- 1:23:06t O two, which is hilarious, and that was the most part
- 1:23:13hilarious thing. Yeah, I went uh with Tim. Actually, well,
- 1:23:18we were out on the road when it came out, and I was given
- 1:23:23it the benefit of the doubt, and I was like laughing at everything and
- 1:23:26it was just like it it didn't do it? Did it? It was
- 1:23:29way meaner. I didn't it was it. I felt like they did the
- 1:23:33thing where they try and just make the same jokes over and over and then
- 1:23:38it started a little wackier overall with stuff. And I don't even know if
- 1:23:44you were going to mention this intentionally not mention it, but there was Dumb
- 1:23:46and dumberrr the prequel Freaks right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:23:51which I also really did not like it at all. Was really disappointed.
- 1:23:56I actually didn't even watch that one. I did. It has one scene
- 1:23:59that pretty funny with the full house guy I can't think of his name right
- 1:24:05now, Stamos Coolier Sagging Sago Sago. He screams at him in this very
- 1:24:12mean that's kind of I think dumb and Number two, the best thing that
- 1:24:15they had was in the trailer, and it was where Jim Carrey has this
- 1:24:21huge beard and he's at like a mental hospital and he's like, hasn't talked
- 1:24:29for twenty years, sure because of the loss of Mary pretty much, and
- 1:24:34then then he pretty much goes, gotcha. He's like, you've been you've
- 1:24:41been faking this for twenty years. Totally worth it. It's pretty funny,
- 1:24:45which is hilarious, but you got it in the trailer, and that's the
- 1:24:49that's the best part of the movie. I don't remember anything from that movie
- 1:24:54other than not really liking it. Same there's that well. One of the
- 1:24:58big plot lines was that Jeff Daniels had a daughter and Jim Carrey was like
- 1:25:05into his daughter. That was one of the main weirds. Yeah, it's
- 1:25:11like, oh, well, this is strange. What are we doing?
- 1:25:15Just watch this one again? Just watch this one. It's a perfect movie
- 1:25:19for sure. Nice. Well, would you guys like to play a game?
- 1:25:24Oh yeah, yeah, I guess so this is the worst. This
- 1:25:28is probably this for the listeners. This is why they don't ever have me
- 1:25:30back on. It's not because of schedule conflicts, because I'm so terrible at
- 1:25:33their games. I'm well, I did not do an actor's name one because
- 1:25:41I know you don't like those ones, so switch it up. We did
- 1:25:45a Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich. Now how this works. I'm gonna say a quote
- 1:25:49from a film. If you know the answer, you ring in with your
- 1:25:53name, you tell me three things. You'll tell me the name of the
- 1:25:56film, the actor who said it, so you do any you know that,
- 1:25:59and the character's name, so you'll need to know it. You got
- 1:26:01to get all three or do you just get points for the ones? No,
- 1:26:03okay, yep. You can get up to three points each for each
- 1:26:06quote if you ring in and get it wrong, no negative points. If
- 1:26:12you only get the name of the film or the actor's name or whatever the
- 1:26:15other person can steal the other points. Okay, yep, and all of
- 1:26:19these films have something in common. When you know the theme, you can
- 1:26:23ring at any time for a point, and they may have something to do
- 1:26:27with dumb and dumber. Are you guys ready, let's do it? Yes?
- 1:26:30Okay, number one, I'm kicking my ass. Do you Mindkes Bukes?
- 1:26:40Uh? Liar liar liar? Liar's correct? Jim Carrey? Yes,
- 1:26:45can you remember that character's name? I would have never gotten this. I
- 1:26:49keep thinking that was the one we just did. That was the mask to
- 1:26:54God? What is his name? I bet if you give me the first
- 1:26:57I could do it, But I don't know. Chance. Do you know
- 1:26:59his name? Only? Is that if I came back to me immediately when
- 1:27:01you said that same, Uh, give me a first name? Fletcher?
- 1:27:09Fletcher Cocks. That is the football Fletcher read. I wouldn't have Wow.
- 1:27:15Yeah, that was a hard one. I know the quote you do,
- 1:27:19and I purposely didn't do it the way he says it. All right?
- 1:27:30Are you keeping score? Abugs? Because I didn't. I got to do
- 1:27:32that. You got to correct, all right? Next one it will be
- 1:27:39mine? Oh? Yes, Chance, got it. Oh yeah. One
- 1:27:43of my favorite movies of all time, Wayne's World. Yeah, played by
- 1:27:48Mike Myers, the character of Wayne Campbell Boom. All three, that is
- 1:27:54how you do it? Oh, yes, it will be mine. Oh
- 1:27:58yes, alrighty, all right, we'll see what we do on this next
- 1:28:03one. Number three, I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
- 1:28:12Bukes, it's uh fast and furious, nice and the furious. Yes,
- 1:28:17Ben Diesel yes dot Wow, I did not know. So you're like
- 1:28:24super into fast and furious. I have definitely seen all of them. Wow,
- 1:28:29I cannot. I've seen that first one is a I've seen the first
- 1:28:33one only. But my favorite thing to come out of that whole franchise is
- 1:28:35the TikTok of the guy talking about the movie titles. Have you guys seen
- 1:28:40that? Yeah, he's laughing. He's laughing about how none of them are
- 1:28:47the same format, like out of all ten, I know, they're all
- 1:28:51different, and he's laughing so loud. It's amazing. Look it up.
- 1:28:57It really is incredible. It is incredible. All right. Cool? Number
- 1:29:01four, you're the man now dog Bukes? Bukes, Uh Sean yes,
- 1:29:11finding Forester. Yes, I assume his name is Forester, but I get
- 1:29:17I don't either. He just goes by Forester and I am a dog.
- 1:29:26Are you figuring out any of the themes we've had? Liar liar Wayn's worlds
- 1:29:33don in sixty seconds? No, fast and furious. I'm fast and furious.
- 1:29:39Sorry is it? No? And then finding Forester. I don't even
- 1:29:45know that last one, but I got as Sean Conery. It was ridiculous.
- 1:29:51I got it alliteration nicey another way for the We went over him again
- 1:30:00because I would get yep, all right, I got out for us.
- 1:30:05You know, yeah, it might make it easier. We'll see. Let's
- 1:30:10go to number five. Invention is ninety three percent perspiration, six percent inspiration,
- 1:30:17three percent perspiration and two percent butterscotch. Ripple bukes bukes. Wait does
- 1:30:27this work? Willy Wonka? I almost said the other one and the chocolate
- 1:30:34factory. I don't know that is that? Is it? Yes? Yes?
- 1:30:39So then it's Johnny DApp Right, Nope, that's incorrect. Don't say
- 1:30:44don't say it because he is the character name. Correct, So you got
- 1:30:47to do you know who? Willy wants? Got another free point there?
- 1:30:54I need it. I never remember which one is which I always screw it
- 1:31:00up because Trulie and the Chocolate Factor was the later one. It was,
- 1:31:06Yes, where are we after five? I have eleven chances? Four.
- 1:31:12Everyone's having a nice time, I think, So all right, let's go
- 1:31:15to number six. This is a fun one. Well I like it.
- 1:31:19Number six. Why do we fall, sir? So we can learn this
- 1:31:28one? No, I know this one so well. Yeah, batman begins,
- 1:31:33Batman beggins, yes, uh and it is uh myke Cocaine, Micha
- 1:31:40Cocaine. And he is Alfred. And I don't know if he has the
- 1:31:43last name. He does have a last name, but I'm gonna give it
- 1:31:45to you the butler. I don't know what it is offhand. I guess
- 1:31:49it's Pennyworth. Oh yeah, yep. But you do three so we can
- 1:31:57learn to pick ourselves. Talk about a gift. Talk about a gift that
- 1:32:00I use a lot, And it's the grave one. But he's just usually
- 1:32:11about something very silly for sure. All right, let's go number seven.
- 1:32:16Well, he don't know talking good like me and you. So his vocal
- 1:32:20cabualistics is limited to chance? Is that is it tropic thunder? It is
- 1:32:28not? Which is technically which is technically not alliteration, even though it starts
- 1:32:32with the same because of the that's where it came. That's where my mind
- 1:32:36went, right, yep, yep, because the literation has to be this,
- 1:32:41it's not actual letter if the sound is different. Right. I do
- 1:32:45know this one though, but yeah, you when you it's there, I'll
- 1:32:49finish it and then it becomes much easier. Well, he don't know talking
- 1:32:55good like me and you, So his vocabularistics is limited to I and am
- 1:33:00and groot exclusively in that order. Guardians of the Galaxy. Yes, and
- 1:33:06it's Rocket Raccoon. Yes, and what's his name? Five? Four?
- 1:33:15You got it. I was ready for clean up on that one. I
- 1:33:21should have got that one earlier. Yeah, that's a good one. That's
- 1:33:25a good one. It's going to number eight. A building is a symbol,
- 1:33:30as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by people.
- 1:33:33Alone, a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people, blowing up
- 1:33:38a building can change the world. Five. I mean, I'm thinking of
- 1:33:45one, but it's not an alliterated movie. One the uh god, why
- 1:33:57can't I think of it? That Ed Norton movie? Is it that one?
- 1:34:01I mean I'm it's not a literation. No, that's what I was
- 1:34:03thinking of. Actually, I'll say one more time. A building is a
- 1:34:06symbol, as is the act of destroying it. Symbols are given power by
- 1:34:10people. Alone, a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people, blowing
- 1:34:15up a building can change the world. This movie, what Fox movie?
- 1:34:26I love good. Yeah, that's why I'm bad at these games. It's
- 1:34:30so funny. These quotes are so funny because like you can know, but
- 1:34:35it's so hard to play. We watched, watched it. Yeah, we
- 1:34:39watched it fairly recently too. That's a that might be. That might be
- 1:34:43an all timer for me. And I still didn't get it. Loved it,
- 1:34:45loved it. We'll see. We'll see about this next one number nine.
- 1:34:54I'll send the monsters back to the underground. I'll send them back to
- 1:34:57a place where no one else can see them except for me. And then
- 1:35:02he says, because I am, And then it's the name of the movie
- 1:35:06and the character name. I'll send the monsters back to the underground. I'll
- 1:35:12send them back to a place where no one else can see them except for
- 1:35:15me, because I am. Picture three two one. You think it sound
- 1:35:29familiar? I don't. I don't can't place that. I wouldn't have got
- 1:35:30it at all. But this was Donnie darko oh boy a long time.
- 1:35:41I wouldn't have got that one either. And then here's a real easy one
- 1:35:45to end it out. Number ten? Where are we? Well bukes?
- 1:35:49You want? Uh? Number ten? Nobody puts baby in the corners?
- 1:35:57Dirty dance? Yeah? Uh? Can you get all three? No?
- 1:36:04I can't even think of his name right now? Five four? He's a
- 1:36:09dancer. He's in a great snl all right chance Johnny dancing? I mean,
- 1:36:23do I get to try? Is it Patrick Swayze? That says that
- 1:36:26it's Patrick? And I'm giving you the other point because it is Johnny.
- 1:36:30That's funny because I just made that up to make a choke on the title.
- 1:36:32His name is Johnny Castle. Can get you Johnny Castle? For sure?
