- 0:01SPEAKER_02: If the Atlanta dream fall in the forest, do they make a noise?
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: It's Stay to Play.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: All right, welcome to Stay to Play the podcast at the intersection of sports, politics, and culture.
- 0:17SPEAKER_02: Today, the Cowboys suck.
- 0:19SPEAKER_02: The Valkyries win the W, and trans athletes are the biggest threat to Americans.
- 0:25SPEAKER_02: Um man.
- 0:29unknown: Man.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Being a cowboy fan is an unpaid internship and anger management.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Arizona Cardinals.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: 33 to 30 in overtime, as you all know.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, by the way, after having a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, not just blowing the game, that's assembling furniture and putting your feet up, and somehow getting evicted before dinner at home.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: In your own house.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, and by the way, the starting quarterback got benched, and Gardner Minshew, the uncle from Napoleon Dynamite, came off the bench to do it.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: Gardner Minshew.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Gardner Minshew came in the game to beat the Cowboys.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Gardner Minshew, if you haven't seen it, I know obviously you all have seen him, and I'm not gonna keep going on about this.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: But he looks like he sells fireworks at a jet ski dealership.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: He looks like Florida man.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: But like healthy.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: He came into Dallas looking like he needed to borrow jumper cables for his beat up 1990s Chevy Silverado, and then he left as a permanent starter for Arizona.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: That's how good the Swiss cheese Dallas defense made him look.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: So uh by the way, I not to mention I started Jacoby Brissett for this game because why not, right?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: In fantasy.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: I started Jacoby Brissett for the game as a quarterback against the Cowboys because for no other reason than the Cowboys allow the absolute most when it comes to when it comes to allowing quarterbacks to score fantasy points.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: They do the most.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: It's an open door policy for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Everybody knows it.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: It's an open secret.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: If you start a quarterback in fantasy against the Dallas Cowboys, that quarterback will come in as himself and he will leave as Joe Montana.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: That's how bad they are.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Oh no, but to one up that, Jacoby Brissett was worse than bad.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: And he got benched.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: I got three points out of him, lost, I lost my week.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Six or seven, whatever we are in, because of that.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: So thank you, Cowboys, for that as well.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Be that as it may, Gardner Minshew came in as quarterback, and Dallas didn't seem to get the memo because he went on a tirade.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: And, you know, Dallas blew the lead.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: They blew the lead.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, fine.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: They blew the lead, but then Arizona missed the extra point that could have beaten Dallas in regulation.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: And God smiled on the Dallas Cowboys once again.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: God gave the ball to Dak and said, Bring us home, my son.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: But Dak said, nay, God, nay.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: Dak could not get the ball to the vaunted, quote, best receiving core in football.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Couldn't get it to them in overtime.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: What are we doing?
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: What's going on?
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, but not only that, but obviously the defense is real, I mean, this is the real name of the game right here.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Because the defense go didn't go to church on Sunday.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: They didn't even get a chance to say, nay, God, nay.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: They didn't pray, they didn't go to church before the game.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: But after that game, they need to repent for their sins.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: The sins of softness.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Because they l they made Tyler Algier look like Bo Jackson.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Brian Schottenheimer, brother.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Brother, listen to me.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: Your days should be numbered.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: I was apprehensive when you got hired.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: We had a lot of other options.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: Bill Belichick sitting right there.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Several several other coaches.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Could have got him.
- 5:25SPEAKER_02: But after that game, Brian, Brian Schottenheimer, coach of the Dallas Cowboys, they shouldn't have let you leave the stadium.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: You know, when you took the job, did you know that there was a did you know that there was a there was not a work from home policy?
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: Because you weren't there at all.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: And neither was the defensive coordinator.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: All we get is the same speeches after every single game.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Gotta execute, we gotta finish, gotta look at the film.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: What what let me add?
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: What film were you watching before the game?
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Because the rest of us can see the problems in real time on television.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: On the television that some of us paid for for NFL Sunday ticket to watch.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: We go to work and we come home and pay top dollar for NFL Sunday ticket just to watch the Dallas Cowboys get curb stomped in the fourth quarter.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Okay, Brie.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: No, we can spend all week cooking the head coach.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Eventually, though, we have to go upstairs too, right?
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Need I say more?
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Need I say more, Jerry?
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: Jerry Jones.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Jerry is the most he's gotta be the most like kind-hearted man in the world.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: Because he is guilty of the sin of empathy.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Empathy for these inept incoherent coaches for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Who can't seem to make sense of anything and make any updates.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: They have the most talented roster in the NFC East, which isn't saying much, but they do have a talented roster on paper.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: You look at these guys, and you should say, I could I should do I can do something with that.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: Anybody should be able to do something with that.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: But they just haven't been able, for whatever reason, they haven't been able to do it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: And for whatever reason, Jerry Jones is not holding them accountable.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: Let me ask you something.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: If you make three bad decisions and you go to work at your job, you make three bad decisions and you go to work.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: You don't think you're getting a call from HR who has scheduled a quick check-in.
- 8:01SPEAKER_02: You're going home, buddy.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: Time to find a new job.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: But Jerry gets on the microphone and he goes, you know, well, I I I I don't want to make any changes right now, and the changes are bad, especially at this time, and let's not forget I'm super rich and I don't really care.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: That that's that's what he's basically been saying all this time.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: Jesus, take the wheel.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Take it from my hands.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: I think that's the lyrics.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: Because if you are a fan of this team and you are being basically held hostage by this organization for too long, and you pay ransom, you pay a ransom every single week.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Ransom for ticket sales, apparel, and merch, for support, you name it.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Something has got to give with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: I've heard trade rumors for George Pickens, who's in a contract year, by the way.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: By the way, I picked him up on fantasy.
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: Thanks, George.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Six fantasy points.
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: Not really your fault.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know why Dak didn't couldn't throw you the ball.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: I'd force feed you.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Make you make you earn that 30 mil.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, what is what is happening?
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: They they gotta do something.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: It's not all the players, and that and I know some people in the new media are actually resting this at George Pickens' feed.
- 9:42SPEAKER_02: I'm not one of those guys.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: It is the entire coaching staff.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: It is it is everyone from the top to the bottom, the entire team.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Everyone is fumbling the ball.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: Alright, moving on.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: No more cowboy talk.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Hey, uh, I um I just Googled it.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: The Valkyries won the apparently won the WNBA finals, and nobody seems to be interested.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Crickets! That's all we heard, bro.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: Crickets.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: Why can't this league generate like more media interest about basketball?
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Because the only time they get any interest is when there is some sort of like cultural controversy.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Sophie Cunningham or Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and National Anthems, and it's it's always something that's not basketball related.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: But I'll talk about basketball just very briefly.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: Game seven happened, and it was a fantastic game seven.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: Gabby Williams for the Valkyries was magnificent, absolutely fantastic.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: Gabby, I was not familiar with your game, sis.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: I was not familiar with your game.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: My goodness, that was that was Kobe type work, man.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: Sis.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: It's Kobe type work.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: UConn, by the way, shout out.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: You know, capped off by that chant at the end.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: There's a little celebration in uh uh where the Valkyries play Oakland, I guess.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Because they, you know, they they give this ode to uh too short.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: What's my favorite word?
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: Guys, this is a family show.
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: This is a family show.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: Shame on you for thinking I'd play that.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: No, no, truly, bro.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm a I'm a fan.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: I'm a fan, Gabby Williams.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: Um ESPN got some explaining to do.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: Y'all suck, bro.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: Oh god, y'all suck.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: You could do a little bit more, a little bit more cover in the sport, bro.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: I already knew that ESPN sucks.
- 11:58SPEAKER_02: Uh well, all that's going on there.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: My favorite people have left, my least favorite people are staying.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: But thank you, ESPN, for validating me.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: I truly, it truly means the world to me.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: Um, next year, you know, maybe we should fix the entire league so that Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark get to play against each other in the finals next year.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: That would be a fever dream for ESPN and all of cable sports.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Nothing else to talk about.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: We wouldn't be talking about anything else, it'd just be that.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Hey, um, did you vote?
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: It's election time.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: You vote early, you vote on election day?
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Did you vote?
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Hmm?
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: Did you?
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Did you?
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: Because I, for one, because the Cowboys suck.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: The coverage of the W sucks.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: And you know what else sucks?
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Political ads.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: Thank God it's basically over, you know?
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: In sports, we have a theme.
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: We have a lot of themes, but we have a a central theme in sports that everyone can relate to about focus.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: Locking in, eyes on the prize, keep your eye on the ball.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: Clear eyes, full hearts can't lose.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: Clear eyes, full heart can't lose.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: It's all about focus.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: Stay focused.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, and that's what you all need to do, right?
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: If you're listening to this on election day or even after that, stay focused.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose.
- 13:43SPEAKER_02: And the reason I bring this up is because, man, during this election, you have seen a lot of messages geared to get you to focus on something else that is not necessarily the main thing.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, gas prices are too high.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: Spurred on by the war in Iran.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: The cost of living is exploded.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: But there are those out there that want you to focus on other things.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: They want you to focus on other things.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: They want you to focus on socialism and communism.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: And, you know, though it's extremely undefined, nobody can actually give you a definition of what that actually means on how this communist regime will be executed once they're in office.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: If it's not gas prices, it's Sharia law.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: It's not affordability, it's immigrants who are coming to take their job, take their jobs.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: It's not inflation, it's transgender surgeries for elementary kids.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: It's transgenders.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: It's the transgender people in sports trying to take competition away from women.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: And I want to stay on this last part for just a minute.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: Just bear with me.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Because you're being told all this on a minute by minute and hour by hour and day by day basis, including in the commercials that you have been watching during these games, during the sports cast, that all these transgender athletes are coming to dominate women's sports.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: This weekend I saw commercials, commercial after commercial on Saturday, during college football, and on Sunday during the NFL schedule.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Alluding to the notions, alluding to these notions constantly.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: And I just wonder who out there is actually buying this?
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Like, who is who's out who out there is actually buying all of this?
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Okay, some of you.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Some of you are buying it.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: After all, the average American reads at a sixth grade level.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: So some of you are, no doubt.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: Not a doubt in my mind that some of you are buying it.
- 15:56SPEAKER_02: But why?
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Why?
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: I have yet to see an actual example, and I bet, and I would be willing we should put this on Calchi.
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: I am willing to bet.
- 16:07SPEAKER_02: On Calci.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: I've yet to see an actual example.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: And I bet you haven't.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Alluding to young trans athletes trying to dominate women's sports.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: But according to all these commercials, this seems to be the main issue all of a sudden that Americans care about.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: By the way, Republicans who are famously against all that, Republicans already control the House, the Senate, the White House, and the Supreme Court.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: If this is such an issue, then why hasn't it been nipped in the bud?
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: With all that power they have right now.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: Why haven't we seen breaking news on CNN that suddenly 10, 100,000 trans trans athletes have been banned from sports on all levels?
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: Where are these trans athletes at?
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm asking.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: What is this scourge of evil that needs to be defeated for the sake of innocent girls and women across the country?
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: So, as y'all all know, um, Pablo always finds out.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: Pablo always finds out.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: And on his podcast a few weeks ago, he did a he did a survey where he asked Americans what percentage of trans athletes did they think were playing in college sports?
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: And the result of that survey, he asked a bunch of people, I think it's like 1400 or something like that.
- 17:33SPEAKER_02: The result of the survey is that 5% people think that in America, 5% of the 500,000 NCAA athletes, 5% of them are trans.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: That would mean that the average American thinks that around I'm doing fuzzy math, but this is remotely accurate, that there are 27,000 trans athletes in America playing college sports right now.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: Give or take.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: Do you know it?
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: It's ten.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: Not ten thousand.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: There are ten.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: There were ten.
- 18:26SPEAKER_02: And then Trump signed an executive order banning trans athletes in college sports, and now that number is zero.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: It's been confirmed that the number is zero.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: There are more mass shootings per month in America than there are trans athletes playing sports.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Crazy, right?
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: More kids get shot in school than there are trans athletes playing sports in schools.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: So that number in at least in college is zero.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: But we keep seeing commercial, on commercial, on commercial about this.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I wish Americans could see through this tactic and use of using people who are different than them as a weapon or as leverage in order to justify giving them power.
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: They're saying these people, no matter who they are, immigrants, trans, black, anybody, that these people are coming to take everything away from you.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: And electing me to power is the only way to stop it.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: So I'm not exaggerating when I say if we lose Texas, we lose America.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: That's what we're fighting for.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: We don't want our children to be bombarded with sex changes, right?
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: We don't want that for our children.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: We want people to leave the children alone, leave them out of it, right?
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Begging your finest pardon, Nicki Minaj, where is this happening?
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: The first person was Kim Paxton in Texas.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: He's a criminal.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: We can look him up, just Google him yourself.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: Swears that America is going to be over if he loses.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Like, what what are we what are we doing?
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: What are we doing?
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: Where are these where where are these operations happening, Nikki?
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: Where are they?
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: I don't want this happening to kids either, but can you please show me the evidence where this is actually happening?
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: President Trump and Nicki Minaj say something about a kid going into school one day and coming back female the next.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: Where is that?
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: What examples do we have?
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: What have we seen on this?
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: On a side note, where are these schools getting all this money to perform these transgender sex change surgeries?
- 20:49SPEAKER_02: And you know, how are they getting money to pay for this medication, these hormone medications for the kids against their parents?
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Well, where is that?
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's already hard enough to get school funding, unless you're have a you know a multi-million dollar sports program out of college, but I digress.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Schools don't get enough funding already, so why all of a sudden do they have money for transgender surgeries during the middle of the school day?
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: It is a distraction, and it seems like they are trying to distract you from the big picture, and that's why I bring up clear eyes, full heart, can't lose.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: We need to focus.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: We need to focus, don't get distracted.
- 21:43SPEAKER_02: Because you are being told to look one way to appeal to your core biases, as it were, but you feel another way.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, your feelings are valid.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: You don't give a damn about any of that shit.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: Because you know it's not real.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: You just have to keep going to work to afford gas to put into your car so that you can go to work to afford gas at all.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: It's like child care.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: Some of you are blessed to be dads and moms, but some of you need child care.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: So we go to work so that we can afford child care, and we put our kids in child care so we can go to work.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: It's a vicious cycle.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: And Americans, you know, not to this isn't a political podcast, by the way.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: This is a sports show.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: It's a sports show.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: I just want to remind everyone.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: But this has a connection to sports because they're they are trying to use the transit issue as a wedge issue to try to get you to stop focusing on the things that mean the most to you.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: And that's what this is all about.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: So to today, if you're listening to this on election day, focus.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: Stay focused.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: Don't look to the left or look to the right.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: Don't get distracted by all the nonsense.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Don't be distracted about all of the voter suppression nonsense that we keep hearing about.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: All the tactics, the lawsuits, the seizing of ballots, all that.
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Go vote.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Don't worry about none of that.
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Don't get distracted.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: Clear eyes, full heart, can't lose.
