- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm thinking, like, hey, I've been playing special teams.
- 0:03Speaker 2: I'm like, boo, if this is like this, and I
- 0:06Speaker 2: go out here and play a full game, I got
- 0:08Speaker 2: to get my mind right.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Because if this is like this, then, hey, y'all, hey, boy.
- 0:12Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. I'm like, yeah, NFL, real, boy.
- 0:15Speaker 1: This is a man's game for real. You got to
- 0:17Speaker 1: come with it.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast, and let me
- 0:25Speaker 3: introduce one of the best young corners in the National
- 0:27Speaker 3: Football League. He's now in his third season with the
- 0:30Speaker 3: San Francisco 49ers, having an outstanding season already with three books,
- 0:36Speaker 3: and I know he'll get more this season. Welcome to
- 0:38Speaker 3: the show, Renardo Green. How you feeling, brother?
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm feeling good.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You know, we put a lot of, like, just time
- 0:46Speaker 2: in coming into this year.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Our coaches, they real good coaches. You know, just.
- 0:51Speaker 2: real strategic about how they move and operate.
- 0:54Speaker 1: And, like, a lot of the work we.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Put in is showing from us winning, you know, winning
- 0:59Speaker 2: different ways to, you know, going through things and overcoming
- 1:03Speaker 2: adversity and then just guys just going out there and
- 1:06Speaker 2: stepping up and making plays.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Like, I'm feeling good about this season.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Look, I'm going to take you back to last year
- 1:12Speaker 3: because that was one of the pivotal moments in your career.
- 1:15Speaker 3: And I... I honestly don't know what coverage it is.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I'm guessing it was two. Yeah. You know, because it
- 1:21Speaker 3: was a high-low. It looked like they kind of high-lowed you,
- 1:24Speaker 3: and you might have, like, you know, guessed a little low,
- 1:26Speaker 3: and then they went high. But, yeah, I just remember
- 1:29Speaker 3: there being a big moment with you and Kyle Shanahan, and,
- 1:32Speaker 3: you know, he having this conversation because Kyle gets super frustrated.
- 1:35Speaker 3: People don't know Kyle, but Kyle was like.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you know. You know.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I know exactly. I know him well. And... Since that moment,
- 1:43Speaker 3: you know, sometimes when stuff like that happens to a
- 1:46Speaker 3: young player, you could go one of two ways. You
- 1:48Speaker 3: know what I mean? Like, it could fold you up,
- 1:50Speaker 3: and that could be like it, and then you struggle
- 1:52Speaker 3: the rest of your career. Or you could use that,
- 1:54Speaker 3: put it right here, and let it motivate you and
- 1:56Speaker 3: fuel you to be the player that you know you
- 1:59Speaker 3: can be. Talk about that, how that motivated you or
- 2:02Speaker 3: didn't motivate you, and what went into your offseason.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like, Like, what really happened in
- 2:11Speaker 2: that situation, it wasn't really like how the media portrayed
- 2:14Speaker 2: it and how things really went down. Because we know
- 2:18Speaker 2: that football is an emotional sport and it's a man's game.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So emotions and tempers be flaring.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It was really about me coming out to get a
- 2:27Speaker 2: coaching point because he don't feel like I hurt the
- 2:29Speaker 2: coaching point when they was yelling to me on the
- 2:30Speaker 2: field about splitting the zone.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You feel me?
- 2:32Speaker 2: We just got a sack. It was, what, second and 20.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Forced him to throw the check now. You feel what
- 2:37Speaker 2: I'm saying? And I got greedy. and thinking the ball
- 2:41Speaker 2: was going to go here, and instead of doing what
- 2:43Speaker 2: I was supposed to do, I jumped it to hit
- 2:44Speaker 2: it over the head. It was really me coming out
- 2:48Speaker 2: to get the coaching point and then post to go
- 2:51Speaker 2: back in. But just with tempers flaring and you know
- 2:54Speaker 2: how it be out there, we just start talking and
- 2:56Speaker 2: time going on and games still going on and stuff
- 2:58Speaker 2: like that.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Me and him, we talk.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Me and Coach, we have general talks and stuff.
- 3:04Speaker 1: We're good with each other. We even talked about that.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And the big thing is you just know he's always
- 3:11Speaker 2: believed in me. You know, ever since he's seen me
- 3:14Speaker 2: in the draft, he's always believed in me. And I've
- 3:17Speaker 2: always believed in myself. So he just felt like, you know,
- 3:21Speaker 2: he could have got more out of me on that
- 3:23Speaker 2: specific play. You know, kind of like, you know, you
- 3:25Speaker 2: see how saving be. You know, I see, I see
- 3:27Speaker 2: like saving don't care.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Saving going to get on you.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Right, he don't care what situation, where you at.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He on you.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So he just felt like, you know, he could have
- 3:35Speaker 2: got more out of me out of that play. And
- 3:36Speaker 2: he's just like, you know, just more and more and more. Like,
- 3:40Speaker 2: I got to get better. One percent, you're getting better,
- 3:43Speaker 2: you're getting worse. So, I mean, like, I didn't really
- 3:46Speaker 2: take of it too pivotal or let it affect me
- 3:49Speaker 2: like that because I know really what the relationship is
- 3:52Speaker 2: and how things really work compared to an outside narrative.
- 3:55Speaker 1: But like I told the media before, like, when you
- 3:59Speaker 1: just got, you know, like you know who.
- 4:01Speaker 2: You is, you got your confidence and all that other stuff,
- 4:03Speaker 2: but you got certain people like that that actually see
- 4:06Speaker 2: the same thing you see in yourself.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You know, when I say him, you know, John.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's like, it just make you be like, you ain't
- 4:14Speaker 2: tripping for working as hard as you work. You ain't
- 4:16Speaker 2: tripping for being so caught up in, you know, your
- 4:20Speaker 2: mindset of how good and great you trying to be.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You ain't tripping, just keep doing it. You feel what
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm saying?
- 4:24Speaker 2: So like this off season, I was just like, you know,
- 4:28Speaker 2: I was playing through some things my second year. I
- 4:30Speaker 2: ain't play bad, but I know that I ain't play
- 4:33Speaker 2: how I know what's really inside me. So I'm like,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm going to make sure that when the time come
- 4:37Speaker 2: around this year, I'm going to capitalize more on my
- 4:39Speaker 2: ops and I'm going to make it known that like, yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 2: this is me and this is who I am.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Like it ain't no if, ands, buts about it. You
- 4:45Speaker 1: feel what I'm saying?
- 4:47Speaker 3: No question about it. And the next time you're stepping
- 4:50Speaker 3: on the field in Seattle, you're left with two books
- 4:52Speaker 3: in your hand. You're left with two footballs with their
- 4:54Speaker 3: logo on it. So I know that had to feel good.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And those were great plays. Early in the game, the
- 5:00Speaker 3: reigning offensive player of the year, Jackson Smith and Jigba,
- 5:03Speaker 3: runs out. And you know early in the game, you
- 5:05Speaker 3: ain't even really got your feels about you.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You ain't really got your.
- 5:08Speaker 3: And you jumped it. You jumped in so early. I said, ooh,
- 5:12Speaker 3: this boy is in his bag.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Tell me what went into that play because I know
- 5:19Speaker 3: they run quick game out of that, but it takes
- 5:21Speaker 3: something else to really trust yourself and trust what you
- 5:24Speaker 3: saw on film and say, all right, I see it,
- 5:26Speaker 3: I feel it, and I'm going because he don't give
- 5:29Speaker 3: no tails.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Yeah, see, and that's what, like, when you guard him,
- 5:33Speaker 2: he moves without indication.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Like, it's really no indication, but Like, just.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Me being older and more experienced, and I was like,
- 5:41Speaker 2: they started in a stack, and it was condensed, and
- 5:43Speaker 2: he motioned out in his third down.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You're not running the deep route, especially as the back man.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And then you motion out to this split, and then
- 5:50Speaker 2: when he stemmed, the initial stem, I narrowed it down to, like,
- 5:54Speaker 2: three routes you can run. You're going to give me, like,
- 5:55Speaker 2: a curl, an out, or a dig. If you run
- 5:58Speaker 2: a post, you're just going to have, we're just going
- 5:59Speaker 2: to run, fam. It's third down. We're just going to run.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And when he stemmed it out, and I seen him, like,
- 6:04Speaker 2: I seen him try to hit me with a, a
- 6:06Speaker 2: one-two shimmy because I just stayed square and I didn't open. So, like,
- 6:10Speaker 2: it wasn't no clean release to where he could just
- 6:12Speaker 2: run the speed up. I knew it was out at
- 6:14Speaker 2: that point. And I was just like, just run the
- 6:16Speaker 2: route for him and find the ball. That's all I
- 6:18Speaker 2: would think, just find the ball.
- 6:21Speaker 3: If people understood how fast it was moving with your
- 6:24Speaker 3: brain moving and going through all that, that's like a
- 6:27Speaker 3: second and a half. Like, all that happened in your
- 6:29Speaker 3: brain in like a second and a half. I just
- 6:31Speaker 3: need people to understand that.
- 6:33Speaker 1: And.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Everything you're saying right now tells me how great you
- 6:37Speaker 3: can be because for you to understand and digest that
- 6:40Speaker 3: information and see like formations, things are just likes and
- 6:44Speaker 3: him motion out and you're like, all right, it's third
- 6:47Speaker 3: and five. If they run something deep, we going to battle.
- 6:50Speaker 3: I'm going to take the charge. You're going to have
- 6:51Speaker 3: to push me down the field and then I'm going
- 6:53Speaker 3: to figure it out. But still. be aggressive enough to say,
- 6:56Speaker 3: my opp is here, I'm taking advantage, and to catch it.
- 6:59Speaker 3: And then that over route where you undercut it, they're
- 7:02Speaker 3: running with a tight end on you. I know you
- 7:04Speaker 3: felt a little disrespected, but....
- 7:09Speaker 1: I seen it like.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I seen it like I had gave an alert end
- 7:12Speaker 2: call because only one tight end released vertical, and his
- 7:15Speaker 2: initial stamina was like, oh, I know you're running an over, fam. Like,
- 7:19Speaker 2: you give me all the indications.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And then... When he ran.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It, I'm like, if I go be on him right now,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I know Sam not going to throw it.
- 7:28Speaker 1: So let me just sag off a little bit.
- 7:30Speaker 2: And then once I seen, like, it looked like it
- 7:33Speaker 2: was open, that's when I really turned it on. And
- 7:35Speaker 2: I just ran the route for him. Like, the man
- 7:38Speaker 2: traveled faster than the ball in that situation. So I'm like, yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 2: I'm going to get.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Me another one. I'm just hoping he throw it.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And when I look back and I see that ball
- 7:45Speaker 2: come by his hand, I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm going.
- 7:47Speaker 1: The other way.
- 7:47Speaker 2: That's all I would think about. I'm like, all right, yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 2: I got him to throw it. Oh, yeah, I'm going
- 7:50Speaker 2: the other way now.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I love this, bro. I love hearing this because you
- 7:54Speaker 3: can tell how slow the game is for you right now.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Talk about that because people don't, you know, it's hard
- 8:00Speaker 3: to talk to people who don't play the game because
- 8:01Speaker 3: you say that. It's just player talking. You'd be like,
- 8:04Speaker 3: the game's slow down. They'd be like, yeah, it's slow
- 8:06Speaker 3: for him. But they don't know what's going on out there. Like,
- 8:09Speaker 3: you seeing it.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I mean, it's like when I be out there compared
- 8:17Speaker 2: to my rookie year, I feel like Football is going
- 8:19Speaker 2: to be football, but when you first get to the NFL,
- 8:21Speaker 2: this is the fastest it's going to be, and it's
- 8:23Speaker 2: like the highest of the highest.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So a lot of plays I was making was really
- 8:28Speaker 1: off reading and reacting. You feel what I'm saying? And
- 8:31Speaker 1: I had three DCs my first three years. You feel me?
- 8:35Speaker 2: So when you're learning different, like, defensive strategies, you know,
- 8:40Speaker 2: different route concepts, seeing how coaches think, like learning the
- 8:45Speaker 2: game within the game. That's what like, like me and
- 8:47Speaker 2: coach used to talk about the game within the game.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It's like, when you out.
- 8:51Speaker 2: There, it's like everything just, you seeing stuff before it happened.
- 8:55Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying?
- 8:56Speaker 2: It's like, I know you're not running this or I,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I know why I started, you know, I was an
- 9:01Speaker 2: off man.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I know why I started at an eight or nine.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Why would I just burst out of my back pedal
- 9:07Speaker 2: and create all that separation and As you running down
- 9:10Speaker 2: the field, I'm breaking down your potential routes at level one,
- 9:13Speaker 2: level two, level three.
- 9:14Speaker 1: As each, as you clear a yard, I'm just breaking
- 9:16Speaker 1: everything down.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Like, guys, like, it just, when you just done played
- 9:20Speaker 2: so much ball, been in so many situations, been around
- 9:24Speaker 2: so many great minds and didn't think about it, I
- 9:26Speaker 2: do play around a whole bunch of, you know, great players.
- 9:29Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying? It's like you just learn
- 9:31Speaker 1: and pick the game up.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And from that point on, it's like, now you just
- 9:35Speaker 2: processing everything and it's just happening just like, just, just, Slow.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Everything just happened in slow.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Bro, your football IQ is up there. I don't even
- 9:44Speaker 3: know if you know that. How you talking is greatness.
- 9:48Speaker 3: When I'm playing a game, that's why that play on
- 9:50Speaker 3: second and 20 or whatever, as you mature as a player,
- 9:54Speaker 3: you're going to look back at that play and be like,
- 9:56Speaker 3: what the hell.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Did you think was going to happen in that situation?
- 10:00Speaker 3: You know? Because all the quarterback did was veteran you.
- 10:04Speaker 3: All he did was vet move you. Hey, I'm going
- 10:06Speaker 3: to move this young boy down. And if he bites,
- 10:08Speaker 3: I'm going seven. If he don't bite, I'm going to
- 10:10Speaker 3: throw it to that seven. But you just told me,
- 10:12Speaker 3: man travel faster than the ball. So if he throw
- 10:15Speaker 3: it down to the flat, by the time he catch
- 10:17Speaker 3: the football, you at it, you.
- 10:18Speaker 1: On his neck.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Yeah, tackle. Catch tackle. It's catch tackle. And so that's
- 10:24Speaker 3: always the case when you're in that situation. It's going
- 10:27Speaker 3: to be catch tackle.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So.
- 10:29Speaker 3: It's always high to low in those situations. Don't let
- 10:31Speaker 3: them get easy stuff. And I'm not trying to coach you.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I'm not, you know, you know what you know. But
- 10:36Speaker 3: it's just such, it's going to be so matter of fact,
- 10:39Speaker 3: just like everything else. When you're going down the field,
- 10:41Speaker 3: I'm pressing. You outside release, you eliminate.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Ding, ding, ding, ding.
- 10:44Speaker 3: As we go past five, 10, 15, 20 yards. Like
- 10:48Speaker 3: now it's a different play. Now it's not this. It's
- 10:50Speaker 3: not that. It's not that. And so as you continue
- 10:54Speaker 3: to play and you trust yourself, man, you're going to
- 10:57Speaker 3: continue to blossom. It's cool to see. Uh, talk about
- 11:00Speaker 3: something that people may not know about Renato Green just
- 11:04Speaker 3: from watching you play.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Um, I like to travel.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I say, I like people may not know.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I like to travel.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I'm a big, uh, I'm not the, I'm not the big,
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'm not the most outgoing person. I don't know that
- 11:21Speaker 2: I'm not the most outgoing person. Um, I got my
- 11:24Speaker 2: little select few, my select circle, and I just rock
- 11:27Speaker 2: with them. I don't like too much outside noise or
- 11:30Speaker 2: just too much coming my way. You know, I like
- 11:34Speaker 2: more peace. You feel what I'm saying? I'm into cars.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I do like cars.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I ain't going to lie.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I kind of got a fetish about cars. Besides from that, though, like,
- 11:46Speaker 2: I really be, like, I'm a chill, like, chill type
- 11:49Speaker 2: of dude, like. Just sit back, relax, enjoy my time
- 11:52Speaker 2: with my ones, and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I don't really be doing too much. I don't really
- 11:57Speaker 2: like to get in too much.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Well, you come from a part of Florida that put
- 12:01Speaker 3: them out now.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 3: You come from a part of Florida that put them out,
- 12:05Speaker 3: and they play some great football. Talk about how that
- 12:07Speaker 3: kind of molded you into the player you are, and
- 12:10Speaker 3: when did you know that you was going to be
- 12:11Speaker 3: elite at corner? Obviously, you stayed home for college, but–
- 12:16Speaker 3: You know, when you're growing up, when you're a great athlete, you,
- 12:18Speaker 3: everybody wants the ball. You want to play receiver, you
- 12:20Speaker 3: want to play running back, quarterback. When did you become
- 12:23Speaker 3: like a true corner?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Uh, so growing up, growing up, football always just came
- 12:29Speaker 2: natural to me.
- 12:30Speaker 1: It was always like breathing.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Like ever since I was five, when I was six
- 12:33Speaker 2: years old, I said, yeah, I'm going to the league fam.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I ain't working for nobody. I ain't trying to do
- 12:37Speaker 2: none of that. I'm going to the league. I made
- 12:39Speaker 2: my mind up. And it was like, but it was
- 12:40Speaker 2: all like, it was easy to do when.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm scoring three touchdowns a game. You feel what I'm saying?
- 12:45Speaker 2: And, You know, I'm going against, like, you know, I'm
- 12:48Speaker 2: playing dudes that's, like, even from little league to high school, college,
- 12:53Speaker 2: I'm playing dudes that young that's in the league now.
- 12:56Speaker 2: You know, and I've been seeing them. We've been going
- 12:58Speaker 2: at it, having our battles and stuff. So, like, just
- 13:01Speaker 2: growing up down there and, you know, just playing in
- 13:04Speaker 2: that environment, it just, you know, you plan to get
- 13:07Speaker 2: a lot of good guys, so you naturally going to
- 13:09Speaker 2: be better. But then I just think that I was
- 13:11Speaker 2: just gifted and blessed because, like, There'll be times where
- 13:13Speaker 2: I'm not on the field. I can't even tell you
- 13:15Speaker 2: how I would do certain things because I was a
- 13:17Speaker 2: running back. Like, I played running back, quarterback, linebacker, safety
- 13:22Speaker 2: with a little bit of corner.
- 13:23Speaker 1: But, dude, man, Pine Hills Trojans, number four.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Dude, man, you go down there and say the name, dude, man,
- 13:33Speaker 2: Pine Hills number four. They're going to tell you just
- 13:35Speaker 2: like that. It's just like football was always just easy
- 13:37Speaker 2: and natural for me. Like, that's just how it was
- 13:39Speaker 2: with me.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Dude, man.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Dude, man, yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Um, I just, like, I just, I just, I just
- 13:47Speaker 2: played and things just always went good for me, I guess.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And then when I got the, the high school, ain't nothing,
- 13:54Speaker 2: ain't nothing really shift.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I had a cousin, he telling me like, cause.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm playing receiver, but I wasn't finna play varsity my, uh, my, uh,
- 14:01Speaker 2: my first year. I was playing like JV until I
- 14:03Speaker 2: got moved up, but he always used to.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Tell me like, bro, stop playing, stop playing. Um, like
- 14:08Speaker 1: cousin Kari, like stop playing receiver, bro. He's like, but
- 14:10Speaker 1: come over here on the dark side.
- 14:12Speaker 2: But play corner. I'm telling you, the money at corner, bro.
- 14:14Speaker 2: I'm like, but I want to catch touchdowns.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I want to score. I've always been doing that.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You feel me?
- 14:19Speaker 1: He's like, bro, come on, man.
- 14:21Speaker 2: You done this, too. I'm telling you, this the way
- 14:23Speaker 2: it's at. So I'm like, man, I want to play varsity, son.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's the end of the year. I get moved up.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I ain't going to get moved up at receiver. I mean,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I could have.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But I was like, man, right now, I got a
- 14:32Speaker 2: better chance to get where I want to be at
- 14:33Speaker 2: playing defense.
- 14:34Speaker 1: So I'm playing corner.
- 14:36Speaker 2: So I just start playing corner from that point on
- 14:38Speaker 2: and made that my primary position and just having to
- 14:41Speaker 2: work out. Like I just happened to be real good
- 14:43Speaker 2: at it. I played it a little league, but not
- 14:45Speaker 2: as much. It just, I was just a natural at
- 14:47Speaker 2: it basically. And that's how I started playing cornerback.
- 14:51Speaker 3: You, you, you, you trying to downplay everything, Renato. You
- 14:54Speaker 3: trying to, you trying to downplay everything. What it sounds
- 14:57Speaker 3: like is the game came easy because you adaptable. Like
- 15:01Speaker 3: at every level of play, you figure it out. At
- 15:04Speaker 3: every level of play. the game starts to make sense.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And that's IQ. That's high IQ football. Like, hey, how
- 15:10Speaker 3: do I need to adjust in this situation? That's where
- 15:12Speaker 3: I'm going to be. What level y'all playing at? That's
- 15:14Speaker 3: where I'm going to be. And I'm going to go
- 15:16Speaker 3: above that level. And now you're in the league and
- 15:18Speaker 3: you done figured out the lay of the land, the
- 15:20Speaker 3: receiver concepts. Fred Warner's a great player. Drake Greenlaw's a
- 15:23Speaker 3: great player. You've had great safeties. You've played with Raheem Morris.
- 15:27Speaker 3: You've had great D coordinators, but Raheem Morris is a
- 15:30Speaker 3: great D coordinator and he's a DB guy. So I'm
- 15:32Speaker 3: sure he's talking the game through to you. It's a
- 15:34Speaker 3: simple game. Everybody runs the same stuff. It's a copycat league.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Can you not let fatigue make you a coward out there?
- 15:44Speaker 3: Can you overcome being tired on the third and sixth
- 15:47Speaker 3: that you didn't study on film all day? Can you
- 15:50Speaker 3: not be tired and be too tired to put your
- 15:52Speaker 3: foot in the ground and go make a play? That's
- 15:54Speaker 3: what separates good players from great players and great players
- 15:57Speaker 3: from Hall of Famers is fatigue. More times than not,
- 16:00Speaker 3: circumstance ain't going to dictate whether I'm on it or not. Like,
- 16:03Speaker 3: I could be days with a stinger, my neck hurting.
- 16:06Speaker 3: All right, it's third and three. We on the logo.
- 16:08Speaker 3: They in the max protect. All right, it's going to
- 16:10Speaker 3: be double dig post. It's like, can I get to
- 16:12Speaker 3: that spot? Or can I get everybody else in the spot? Hey, hey,
- 16:16Speaker 3: you be right there. Be in that dig window. Hey, Earl,
- 16:18Speaker 3: take the post. I want the ball to come to
- 16:20Speaker 3: this dig. I'm going to give him enough space, and
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'm going to see if I can't get a book
- 16:23Speaker 3: out of this.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:25Speaker 3: When you play in the game at that high of
- 16:26Speaker 3: a level, people can't even understand. They think picks is accidents.
- 16:29Speaker 3: But like you just talked it through. Yeah, fact. On
- 16:32Speaker 3: both your picks, neither one of them was accident. Like
- 16:34Speaker 3: it's process that goes involved. And even when I do
- 16:37Speaker 3: that process again and again, I might do that process
- 16:40Speaker 3: 30 times in the game and not get one target.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I might be right 28 of them times and nobody
- 16:47Speaker 3: throw it over there.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Crazy, crazy how it work. People don't be knowing they
- 16:51Speaker 1: in depth. It's crazy how it work, man.
- 16:54Speaker 3: It's sick, but the thing that you've got to be
- 16:57Speaker 3: careful of is as great as you're going to get,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and I hope you get 10 this year, eventually the
- 17:03Speaker 3: target's going to go down. Yeah. And can you still
- 17:07Speaker 3: be great when the only target you get is fourth quarter,
- 17:11Speaker 3: third and eighth for the game? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can
- 17:15Speaker 3: you be great then? Everybody talk about that NFC championship
- 17:19Speaker 3: when I tipped the football. Wait, that was my first target.
- 17:21Speaker 1: For real?
- 17:23Speaker 3: That was my first target of the game. Like, they're
- 17:25Speaker 3: not playing. And the only reason they did it like
- 17:27Speaker 3: that was because he was in two minutes and he
- 17:29Speaker 3: couldn't have the coach just tell him, don't throw it
- 17:31Speaker 3: over there.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah, he just did it, yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 3: He just did it. And by the time he did it,
- 17:37Speaker 3: the game was over with. It's over with now. Like,
- 17:41Speaker 3: you can't go back. But that's the next level of
- 17:45Speaker 3: just being locked in, play after play, and staying involved, bro.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I'm so impressed with how you started this season. It's
- 17:51Speaker 3: really cool.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I just been, I just been trying to just dot
- 17:56Speaker 2: my I's, cross my T's and leave no stone.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Unturned and not get tired of doing the.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Same thing over and over and over. And like how
- 18:06Speaker 2: you was, you was saying, you know, but what about
- 18:08Speaker 2: when your shoulder hurting this and that and the third,
- 18:10Speaker 2: and you don't feel like doing this and that it's like,
- 18:13Speaker 2: you know, Kyle talk about that, uh, competitive stamina, that
- 18:16Speaker 2: competitive stamina.
- 18:17Speaker 1: He always, always preaching.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And like how you say like override that mind, like just,
- 18:23Speaker 2: trying to lock in on those principles and do them daily.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Like consistency is a hard thing to do. It's one
- 18:28Speaker 2: of the hardest things to do in life. So it's like,
- 18:32Speaker 2: it's a real grind, but I just be telling myself
- 18:35Speaker 2: like day by day, day by day, earn, earn that win,
- 18:40Speaker 2: earn that, whatever performance you put on, you go for
- 18:43Speaker 2: two books, three books, whatever you do, whatever you do,
- 18:46Speaker 2: earn it throughout the week. Like, don't, you can't cheat
- 18:48Speaker 2: this man. You going to have to go through what
- 18:50Speaker 2: you got to go through to get what you want.
- 18:51Speaker 1: And it's going to hurt.
- 18:52Speaker 2: But fam, it's worth it. You're doing it for a reason.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So that's what I just try to lock in with
- 18:56Speaker 2: like on a weekly basis.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Bruh, you, you, whoever your mentor is, whoever in your mind,
- 19:04Speaker 3: even if it's just you, you're doing a heck of
- 19:05Speaker 3: a job, brother. That's what your mindset is right. Like it's,
- 19:10Speaker 3: in love with the process. If you fall in love
- 19:12Speaker 3: with the process and you sit there and every day
- 19:14Speaker 3: you like, man, I dominated them today, but today I'm
- 19:17Speaker 3: working on my press. I'm working on my foot. I'm
- 19:18Speaker 3: working on my footwork here. I'm working on my route
- 19:21Speaker 3: recognition and walkthroughs. I'm working on identifying plays and walkthroughs
- 19:25Speaker 3: and then picking those plays in practice because the same
- 19:28Speaker 3: plays you walk through are the same plays they're going
- 19:30Speaker 3: to run in practice. One of them periods. Boy, there
- 19:34Speaker 3: are boys that have played 10, 15 years in this
- 19:36Speaker 3: National Football League that didn't realize that the walkthrough and
- 19:39Speaker 3: the practice or a lot of.
- 19:41Speaker 1: The same place.
- 19:41Speaker 3: And I'm like, as a box of rocks over here, like,
- 19:44Speaker 3: I don't know how you're supposed to vote with somebody
- 19:47Speaker 3: this long.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Hey, this is one of them you see just shake
- 19:50Speaker 1: your head.
- 19:52Speaker 3: You can't. I can't even explain this.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I did. Hey, well, I just look over there. I'm like, hey, man.
- 19:59Speaker 3: But you are totally right when you say you earned
- 20:03Speaker 3: the right. Like, when you get picks in a game, like,
- 20:05Speaker 3: I didn't earn this. I didn't saw myself doing this.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I've done it in practice time and time again. And
- 20:10Speaker 3: consistency and greatness, it's a boring trait. Like, when you're
- 20:14Speaker 3: doing it right, it's going to be a boring game.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But can you not get bored? Can you remember that
- 20:18Speaker 3: this was the dream all along? Can you remember all
- 20:21Speaker 3: those moments that, hey, as a kid, this is all
- 20:23Speaker 3: I wanted. Can I continue to challenge myself, play in,
- 20:26Speaker 3: play out, when they're not challenging me?
- 20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, facts.
- 20:29Speaker 3: When they didn't decide to take the second and third
- 20:32Speaker 3: receiver and just put them over here to go to
- 20:34Speaker 3: sleep for the rest of the game because they don't
- 20:36Speaker 3: want to put their number one over here. They just
- 20:38Speaker 3: want to I want to stay over there. I didn't
- 20:40Speaker 3: have games where they're like, why you don't follow? Well,
- 20:42Speaker 3: because we didn't lean everybody to that side, and I'm
- 20:45Speaker 3: one-on-one backside with whoever they put over here, and they
- 20:47Speaker 3: just decide not to look over here. Yeah, right.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's like, what you want me to do?
- 20:53Speaker 3: What you want me to do? Right. But talk about
- 20:57Speaker 3: Raheem Morris and how different it's been, because I've heard
- 20:59Speaker 3: Jair talk about it, Malik talk about it. I've heard
- 21:03Speaker 3: Siegel talk about it. Talk about how different this defense
- 21:07Speaker 3: is compared to last year.
- 21:11Speaker 2: It's not so much of a three-match where we're relying
- 21:18Speaker 2: heavily on certain guys to be in windows and the
- 21:21Speaker 2: corners can be softer.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I got confidence in my guys.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I got confidence from the front seven to the back end.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I got confidence in my guys.
- 21:32Speaker 2: To go win and go be playmakers and go make plays.
- 21:36Speaker 1: He teaches....
- 21:39Speaker 2: He teaches just the game of football in a player's perspective,
- 21:46Speaker 2: but he can also do it in a coach's.
- 21:48Speaker 1: A lot of coaches can just do X's and O's.
- 21:51Speaker 2: He can do X's and O's, but then break it
- 21:53Speaker 2: down as if we out there on the field and
- 21:56Speaker 2: he's like, you with somebody you training with and he
- 21:59Speaker 2: playing the league too, like your homeboy or something, you
- 22:01Speaker 2: playing the league and y'all just going through saying, y'all
- 22:03Speaker 2: put that hand here or step with this foot and
- 22:05Speaker 2: this and that. It's like he's able to break the
- 22:07Speaker 2: game down like that. That's one thing that I find very,
- 22:12Speaker 2: very helpful. Because he'll tell you something like, I'm not
- 22:14Speaker 2: expecting you to make this play. If you make it,
- 22:16Speaker 2: it's so good. If you make it, do this and
- 22:19Speaker 2: that in the third, hey, it's great. But I want
- 22:21Speaker 2: you to make this play. I want you to make this.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Or he'll be like, yeah, if this happens, Don't even
- 22:26Speaker 2: turn that way. Just kick 180. He gets on a
- 22:28Speaker 2: double move.
- 22:29Speaker 1: It's cool. Kick 180. Let's go play ball down the field.
- 22:32Speaker 1: That's all we finna do.
- 22:33Speaker 2: He catch this, force him to catch this one hand,
- 22:36Speaker 2: back shoulder, like that, force.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Him to do it.
- 22:39Speaker 2: He catch this, man, dap him up, give him a
- 22:41Speaker 2: high five and tell him go catch it again. Like,
- 22:43Speaker 2: he breaks the game down, like, in a realistic way. Like,
- 22:46Speaker 2: he don't put unrealistic expectations on you that you can't
- 22:51Speaker 2: do or that doesn't make sense. Like, Basically, everything he
- 22:54Speaker 2: basically ever told me, all the little tips and nuances,
- 22:57Speaker 2: every one of them made sense, everything that he's told
- 22:59Speaker 2: me since he's been there.
- 23:01Speaker 3: That's really cool. Even the play with Arroyo that you
- 23:04Speaker 3: was talking about that you picked, like, you could have
- 23:07Speaker 3: said in and in and left it. Yeah, fact. Like,
- 23:10Speaker 3: you chose to squeeze. You said, hey, I got no
- 23:12Speaker 3: other threats. I ain't got nothing else to do. Let
- 23:15Speaker 3: me go ahead and dance with.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Him a little bit. Let me get me.
- 23:19Speaker 3: Let me get me. And that's much different. And that's
- 23:23Speaker 3: a choice that you made and that's coaching by him
- 23:25Speaker 3: and everything coming together in the right way where like
- 23:28Speaker 3: last year, if you let that go, that's a completion.
- 23:30Speaker 3: And nobody's dropped in that zone. They got sucked up
- 23:32Speaker 3: by the run fake.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Facts. Facts. See?
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You know, man, he, the man's like, he's a, he's
- 23:41Speaker 1: a great help. Like I give him that.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Like when he came here and we just start talking
- 23:46Speaker 2: and stuff like that, like I could just tell that
- 23:48Speaker 2: he knew ball, but it's him. And it's like Jerry,
- 23:51Speaker 2: you know, like Jerry know his ball too. Like he'll
- 23:55Speaker 2: tell us like, I'm telling you, when I was there,
- 23:58Speaker 2: Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, he told me he reads
- 24:00Speaker 2: this with the safeties.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You know, do this. This will make him not throw this.
- 24:05Speaker 1: They gonna run this. Or Jerry be like, he be
- 24:07Speaker 1: saying stuff like this.
- 24:09Speaker 2: They paying this receiver 40 million.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Do you think they put him at number two to block? Hey, like,
- 24:17Speaker 1: but hey, that's the game though.
- 24:20Speaker 3: That's the game.
- 24:21Speaker 1: That's the game.
- 24:22Speaker 3: It's common sense, but sometimes it ain't so common.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 24:27Speaker 2: So just having them, like, just talk to us and
- 24:31Speaker 2: break the game down.
- 24:32Speaker 1: He say open book test, NFL open book test.
- 24:34Speaker 2: I'm telling you, like, just having them to break the
- 24:36Speaker 2: game down even more and give us little tips and
- 24:39Speaker 2: nuances how they do.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Like, they've been a very big help. It's like they help.
- 24:44Speaker 1: They help.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Expand our knowledge within the game, within the game. Like,
- 24:47Speaker 2: we know X's and O's. I know what gap's supposed
- 24:50Speaker 2: to be this. I know what the stud fit is.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I know what the rotation, the read of Linda, the
- 24:54Speaker 2: boundary of the week.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Like, I know all of that.
- 24:57Speaker 2: But when you can really break it down to where
- 24:59Speaker 2: a player's talking about the game within the game, and that's, like,
- 25:02Speaker 2: how they coach us, it just makes it that much easier.
- 25:05Speaker 1: It makes everybody be on one accord.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And then how guys making plays and the reason why
- 25:09Speaker 2: we got a record that we got right now going
- 25:12Speaker 2: into the bye week.
- 25:14Speaker 3: In a hundred years, whenever I get into coaching, I
- 25:17Speaker 3: can't wait to help people play the go ball better.
- 25:20Speaker 3: It's one of those things where you watch guys and
- 25:21Speaker 3: you're like, bro, y'all faster than me, more athletic, all
- 25:25Speaker 3: this other stuff. But like, I feel like I played
- 25:28Speaker 3: the go ball about as good as anybody. And I
- 25:32Speaker 3: feel like sometimes guys want to make it a foot
- 25:34Speaker 3: race every time. It's not a positioning thing. And I
- 25:36Speaker 3: feel like shoulder in front of they shoulder, like ride
- 25:39Speaker 3: that red line that you see in practice, knock them
- 25:41Speaker 3: off that red line and get on it yourself. I
- 25:44Speaker 3: caught 41 books in my career, and I'd say 30
- 25:48Speaker 3: of them was nine balls.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It's crazy because I done seen a few of your highlights,
- 25:54Speaker 2: and I'm like, are you pressing everybody?
- 25:59Speaker 3: I'm pressing everybody.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I'm like, he's pressing everybody, and I'm just looking. I'm like, well, one.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Thing about him, he getting that head around, and the
- 26:06Speaker 2: thing is, he getting that head around, and he catching
- 26:08Speaker 2: back shoulder, like back shoulder books. People don't know how
- 26:11Speaker 2: hard that is. I'm like, he catching back shoulders. You
- 26:14Speaker 2: may have a step on him. But, man, looking back
- 26:17Speaker 2: and going up and grabbing the ball like that, I
- 26:19Speaker 2: say that's one thing. I say that's how he catches
- 26:21Speaker 2: on him. He getting that head around. Like, that's one
- 26:23Speaker 2: thing about Stern. Stern going to find that ball.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I'm going to find that rock. And the thing about...
- 26:28Speaker 3: back shoulder is it was like always like footwork position.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Like once you get to a certain point and I
- 26:34Speaker 3: get my head around, if I'm where I need to be,
- 26:37Speaker 3: I feel like I can give you like a half
- 26:38Speaker 3: a body and still go vertical and get to the ball.
- 26:42Speaker 3: So I would, I would, I would damn near be
- 26:44Speaker 3: half a body, but like, like, I mean, I'm feeling
- 26:46Speaker 3: for you. I'm feeling for you. I didn't know where
- 26:47Speaker 3: you're at. And if ball came, then it's almost like
- 26:50Speaker 3: I'm in a post with him and I'm just shoulder around.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Like, yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And it ain't nothing they can do about it. Like,
- 26:57Speaker 3: if I see him throw it and you see him
- 26:58Speaker 3: throw it, like, I'm in front of you. Facts, though.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Facts.
- 27:04Speaker 3: You know, but we talking too much ball. We can
- 27:06Speaker 3: talk all day. I love your mind, man.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Hey, man, I love it, bro. Like, I grew up
- 27:12Speaker 2: playing it. It's what I do. It's what I know.
- 27:14Speaker 2: It interests me. I actually got a love.
- 27:17Speaker 1: For the game.
- 27:18Speaker 2: And I don't talk ball with a lot of people because, like,
- 27:22Speaker 2: When I be hearing people say stuff like, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 2: I could be wherever I'm from or around the area,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and I be hearing dudes say, I don't see how
- 27:28Speaker 2: the corner, you know, let the guy get behind him.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Everybody know the best corners. They let the ball get
- 27:34Speaker 2: caught in front of them, and they just make tackles.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I be like, when I be hearing, I say, this
- 27:39Speaker 2: my own talk to everybody about balls. Hey, guys be
- 27:43Speaker 2: thinking they can do this. I done heard guys compare
- 27:45Speaker 2: theyself to Wes Walker and stuff.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I'm like, see. Oh, my God.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Hey, this is why I don't be talking to everybody, fam.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I can only talk ball with certain people. So, I
- 27:54Speaker 2: don't talk like that.
- 27:55Speaker 1: So, if I them talk a ball with somebody, because
- 27:57Speaker 1: I know they know ball.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Man. Hey, somebody, they talk about the best scorers just
- 28:02Speaker 3: letting them catch it and come up and talk. I'm
- 28:05Speaker 3: ending the conversation right there. Hey, brother, you go have
- 28:07Speaker 3: a beautiful day.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Well, I got to go. I got to go, fam.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I got to go. All right. All right. I don't
- 28:12Speaker 3: even know what you're talking about. But I'm not going
- 28:14Speaker 3: to hold you much longer. My last question, what was
- 28:17Speaker 3: your welcome to the league moment?
- 28:19Speaker 1: Crazy as it was, it was my rookie year. It
- 28:21Speaker 1: wasn't even on offense. It wasn't even on defense. It
- 28:23Speaker 1: was special teams.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Special teams get real now.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that. So, I mean, I didn't
- 28:31Speaker 1: know that. Like, man, I remember because I was at
- 28:34Speaker 1: the Gunna.
- 28:34Speaker 2: We played the Jets my rookie year, first game.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I go down there, I make the tackle, boom. I'm like,
- 28:40Speaker 2: oh yeah, this kind of sweet. This down to third.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I'm like, ain't nothing too crazy out here. We don't
- 28:44Speaker 2: like game. We go to game like four. We go
- 28:48Speaker 2: to game four. I do it this time, but the
- 28:51Speaker 2: returner put a move on me. And he put a
- 28:54Speaker 2: move on me, and I dove, and I messed my
- 28:56Speaker 2: shoulder up. But I'm like, I'm on the sideline like this.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I'm only playing special teams.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I'm on the sideline. I'm like this. I'm like, I
- 29:02Speaker 1: ain't going to lie. Something wrong with my shoulder. But
- 29:04Speaker 1: I'm just going to play. Maybe it's just going to
- 29:06Speaker 1: go away.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Oh, I go to guard the gun and I'm on
- 29:09Speaker 2: punt return because I was that too.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Man, I get an outside release.
- 29:14Speaker 2: He hit, he swiped my arm and my shoulder started hurting.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't, I'm like, hey, but I'm finna
- 29:20Speaker 2: keep playing though. But I'm like, he got me.
- 29:21Speaker 1: So I'm running. I'm like, I can't block. I'm finna
- 29:23Speaker 1: go second level, find somebody else.
- 29:26Speaker 2: As soon as the returner tried to catch it, My
- 29:28Speaker 2: man that I got beat, he blasted the returner. The
- 29:32Speaker 2: ball go flying in the air. I'm like, I already
- 29:35Speaker 2: know they finna say I didn't do my job. That's
- 29:37Speaker 2: on Renato. He ain't do what he supposed to.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So I'm running.
- 29:41Speaker 2: And it's a pile already on the ground. And I
- 29:44Speaker 2: ain't know them piles getting like, man, welcome to the NFL, man.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Welcome to the NFL.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Instead of getting in there and scrapping, I just put
- 29:52Speaker 2: my hand, you know, on the pile.
- 29:55Speaker 1: And I'm just trying to look around.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Oh, I never figured he was number zero, but he
- 29:59Speaker 2: played like linebacker or something. He came down, but full speed,
- 30:04Speaker 2: put his helmet right, like smashed my hand, broke my
- 30:08Speaker 2: finger down, like twisted and shifted. I wasn't even looking
- 30:10Speaker 2: for the ball no more. I done took a knee.
- 30:12Speaker 2: I done took a knee.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Like, I'm like this on the ground. I done got up.
- 30:15Speaker 1: They still squirming for the ball. I done walked the
- 30:17Speaker 1: other way. I'm like, bro, I think my fingers broke.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I say, bro, this NFL, it's real like him, boy.
- 30:24Speaker 3: A special team might be the realest place. Look, some
- 30:28Speaker 3: of these dudes only play seven, eight snaps a game.
- 30:32Speaker 3: That snap they out there, they don't go. And if
- 30:36Speaker 3: the ball on the ground.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Oh, it falls to the wall, boy.
- 30:40Speaker 3: It's everything.
- 30:41Speaker 2: You better put your hard hat on, boy. That's when
- 30:43Speaker 2: I say, oh, yeah, I got to come right. This
- 30:45Speaker 2: is how I'm thinking. It's like, I don't play defense
- 30:47Speaker 2: and dime package and sub in a little bit and
- 30:49Speaker 2: stuff like that, but I'm thinking, like, I've been playing
- 30:53Speaker 2: special teams. I'm like, boo, if this is like this,
- 30:57Speaker 2: and I go out here and play a full game,
- 30:59Speaker 2: I got to get my mind right.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Because if this is like this, then, hey, boy, that's
- 31:04Speaker 1: what I was thinking.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, NFL, real, boy. This is a man's
- 31:07Speaker 2: game for real. You better come with it.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Grown man game. Grown man game. Do you got any
- 31:13Speaker 3: questions for me? I want to leave it open to
- 31:16Speaker 3: answer any questions you got before I let you get
- 31:18Speaker 3: out of here.
- 31:19Speaker 1: What would you say.
- 31:21Speaker 2: what would you say was the biggest lesson you learned
- 31:26Speaker 2: playing it, like playing in the league, but that wasn't
- 31:29Speaker 2: football related. That just came with you being sure. Like
- 31:32Speaker 2: that just, that, that, that just came with your success. Like,
- 31:36Speaker 2: what would you say the biggest lesson, you know, you
- 31:38Speaker 2: learn just in life, like in, in life?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 31:42Speaker 3: That's a great question. Um, like, it was something you
- 31:50Speaker 3: said earlier, just being consistent and not just consistent in football,
- 31:54Speaker 3: but in every, every aspect of your life, like consistent
- 31:58Speaker 3: off the field, like understanding like where you put your
- 32:01Speaker 3: money consistent with that same effort, same attention to detail
- 32:04Speaker 3: that you spend playing corner. You got to be with
- 32:07Speaker 3: your money and you got to be with your assets,
- 32:11Speaker 3: your home, your cars, you know what I mean? Know
- 32:13Speaker 3: what's going on that way with your daughter, your kids,
- 32:16Speaker 3: you know, and you got to just stay consistent. keep
- 32:19Speaker 3: the main thing the main thing at all times. And
- 32:21Speaker 3: the people around you, you got to try to appreciate
- 32:24Speaker 3: them while you're playing, especially the people that are around
- 32:27Speaker 3: like your family.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 3: You know? And I think we get so locked in,
- 32:31Speaker 3: rightfully so, on this game and what we got to do,
- 32:34Speaker 3: but you got to keep that in line as well.
- 32:37Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Everything got to flow the
- 32:40Speaker 3: way it's supposed to, and then your game is going
- 32:41Speaker 3: to keep flowing the way it's supposed to.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I think that was the biggest thing I learned over time.
- 32:47Speaker 3: And that was through a lot of mistakes and not
- 32:49Speaker 3: keeping things.
- 32:50Speaker 1: In line the way it's supposed to.
- 32:52Speaker 3: You know what I mean? And when it's in line,
- 32:54Speaker 3: then ball's in line, then my mind's in line. And
- 32:58Speaker 3: I'm playing at a really high level.
- 33:00Speaker 1: All right. All right. Appreciate that.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:04Speaker 1: All love.
- 33:05Speaker 3: That was a great question. That was a great question.
- 33:08Speaker 3: And when you get neat, go ahead.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I was going to say, you can finish. I was
- 33:12Speaker 1: just going to add one more thing.
- 33:14Speaker 3: No, when you get in these big games, you've played
- 33:17Speaker 3: in a lot of big games, it's the same old thing. Like,
- 33:20Speaker 3: think of the chess match that you've been playing, but
- 33:22Speaker 3: it's a higher level. Like, almost to the point you're
- 33:24Speaker 3: game planning yourself. Like, all right, I jumped him in
- 33:28Speaker 3: the first quarter on that hitch, it's hitch and go time.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Like, next time I'm gonna.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Hitch, like, you might, I might, I'm gonna be tight
- 33:34Speaker 3: on the hitch, but I'm gonna be, like, I'm not
- 33:37Speaker 3: gonna be driving through the ball, I'm gonna be driving
- 33:39Speaker 3: to the ball. Like, it's gonna be like, I gotta
- 33:40Speaker 3: see it. I gotta see you full hitch. And, You know,
- 33:44Speaker 3: if you put something, you book that over route, watch
- 33:48Speaker 3: him until he's across the field, until he gets it
- 33:50Speaker 3: out of the hash. Keep your eye on him, because
- 33:51Speaker 3: if you turn your head and he... I'm telling you.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Race return?
- 33:58Speaker 3: Look, that return, you know. Boy, be running, be like, oh, bro. Oh, hey, what?
- 34:04Speaker 1: Hey, people don't know Ball. They on the TV. He suck.
- 34:07Speaker 3: You know what?
- 34:08Speaker 1: You know how I be, man. You know how I be.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Way up.
- 34:12Speaker 2: The other thing I wanted to ask, I find that
- 34:15Speaker 2: interview so funny, but it's real. You know the interview
- 34:19Speaker 2: I'm talking about. You know it's what I'm talking about.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I'm like, but I done seen that. I done came
- 34:24Speaker 1: across that video a few times. I'm like, but it's, man, funny.
- 34:27Speaker 2: But I feel him, though, because I can't even go
- 34:30Speaker 2: against it.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Like, that's real, though.
- 34:32Speaker 2: I just like, well, like, I want to know what
- 34:35Speaker 2: had happened.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Like, he was being like a little alien, just saying
- 34:39Speaker 1: anything and everything.
- 34:41Speaker 3: You talking about Crabbe? Nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I'm talking about.
- 34:44Speaker 3: You talking about Skip?
- 34:46Speaker 1: I think him. I think him.
- 34:49Speaker 3: So, Skip had basically... That year, I think that's my
- 34:53Speaker 3: second year in the league.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I end the year, I'm first team all pro. I
- 34:56Speaker 3: got eight books on the year. I didn't gave up.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I'm 46% completion percentage. Like, I'm strapping. I got like
- 35:03Speaker 3: 28 PBUs. Yeah, you're going ham. I'm like that. This year, too.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going ham.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I'm going crazy. Yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 1: And.
- 35:10Speaker 3: He talking about Revis, rightfully so. Revis been good for
- 35:13Speaker 3: a long time. And he's like, he ain't even in
- 35:15Speaker 3: the same universe as Revis. He's nowhere near. He's basically
- 35:19Speaker 3: a bum. I said, now look, hey, like you can say,
- 35:23Speaker 3: you can feel he better. You can feel I'm better.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Everybody got their opinions.
- 35:26Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 35:27Speaker 3: He can say whatever he want because he out there
- 35:28Speaker 3: putting it on tape.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Respect.
- 35:31Speaker 3: But I ain't about to just let you keep talking
- 35:33Speaker 3: crazy about me when I don't think you've accomplished anything
- 35:37Speaker 3: in this world.
- 35:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 35:38Speaker 3: I'm in the second year in the league. I'm a
- 35:40Speaker 3: first team all pro. Just damn near led the league
- 35:43Speaker 3: in interceptions. I was one off because they got nine
- 35:45Speaker 3: and they got their ninth in the last game and
- 35:47Speaker 3: I freaking, I had my ninth in my hands and
- 35:49Speaker 3: then safeties and the other corner ran into me. It's
- 35:52Speaker 3: crazy play. But, oh, it pissed me off so bad.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I had the ninth. I was like, led the league.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Ball out. But, boy, I had to tell him because
- 36:03Speaker 3: I'm like, bro, I'm not feeling good, I'm sick, but
- 36:05Speaker 3: I'm tired of you talking crazy on my name and
- 36:08Speaker 3: I'm not about to accept this anymore. Like, I'm like that.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I'm like that. And I tell it to anybody's face,
- 36:12Speaker 3: I tell you to watch the tape because my tape
- 36:14Speaker 3: will tell you bigger than I can tell you, but
- 36:16Speaker 3: I'm better at life than you in every which way
- 36:18Speaker 3: you can count it. Like, you talking about ball, you
- 36:20Speaker 3: talking about education, you talking about, I'm better. And I've
- 36:24Speaker 3: only been here 24 years.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I feel, you know, I'm like, hey, he said some
- 36:34Speaker 2: real stuff, dog. I can't even, like, because I know
- 36:37Speaker 2: some people, man, I'm like, but, hey, forget all that, man. Hey,
- 36:40Speaker 2: he's speaking some real stuff, dog. Just listen to him, dog.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Listen.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Just listen. Keep balling. Keep balling, brother. Keep growing. Keep elevating, brother.
- 36:52Speaker 3: You on the right track. You got a good head
- 36:54Speaker 3: on your shoulders. You got a fantastic game. Big fan
- 36:57Speaker 3: of your game. And if you ever need anything from me,
- 36:59Speaker 3: don't hesitate to reach out.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I bet I got you. I appreciate it. I appreciate
- 37:03Speaker 1: you having me on here, too.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Yes, sir. Appreciate you coming on. We'll have you when
- 37:07Speaker 3: you get your 10th.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I bet that.
