- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, welcome to the NFL podcast on the Colorado New Jersey and that is Albuquerque Miraculously in Indianapolis, I'm just making it.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm reading a text that you sent me from your town.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: National Guard has been called in.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: 52% of town is without power.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Route three is shut down.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: All fire police and DPW crews have been taken off the road by the way, because you're in Massachusetts.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: The Boston Globe didn't deliver for the first time in 152 years, and I guess my only Massachusetts related story line here is the Dunkin Donuts has been closed, but people are freaking out over here in New Jersey.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, we have Dunkin Donuts that are across the street from each other.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's actually, and that's not just in the city, either like,
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: about that's the 10 miles from where I live.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: There are literally dunking donuts right across the street from each other.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: So if you can't get a cup of coffee from dunking donuts, somewhere in Massachusetts, something's wrong.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Something is definitely wrong.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: So we appreciate your guys' patience.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is Wednesday morning.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: So after day one of the combine, it was plain strains in automobile's trying to get that early episode in this week.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: I had about two feet of snow.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Albert had more than that and probably another foot on top of that.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: We were shoveling.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: We had kids home from school.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's one of those things where you got about four hours of shoveling to do, but then your kids want you to build like a snowman and a glue and then, you know, you got to do all that stuff with your back already thrown out.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's, you know, it's quite a weekend.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would honestly like at my age though like it's kind of like feels like it's like doubling it's like a really good workout because that was sore yeah from shoveling but you're in the window right back like in a back area you know like the mid back like from your it's like a rolling you know it's almost like a a rolling motion you know
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: You're in that sweet spot, though, because I feel like it's like me, like a much younger man.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yes, it's like a great workout to about where you are.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then like another year or two from it, like you know that it's like a silent killer of like thousands of people every year, right?
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Traveling is?
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's like people, and I'm not saying you, I'm saying that you're trying to do it for them or it's like people who are out of shape or like, all right, I gotta get my car out and they haven't worked out in.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: you know, six years and then they just start essentially doing like cardio plus 45 pound curls and then they have hard times.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, they're, well, the craziest story I heard actually had to do is somebody charging their phone.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a student who passed away at Salvador, Gina, because I guess he went and do his phone.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: It went to his car.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: His power was out to charge his phone and like somehow died of carbon and oxide poisoning.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that happened in Buffalo a couple times too.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so that happened and I was like, and I don't know if a guy fell asleep or whatever it was,
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my, thankfully, my wife and my mother-in-law are very on top of those things.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so we have like vents in our house that they actually specifically asked me to go out and clear because the snow had gotten so high up that it was like covering up vents outside our house.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Which I never even want to thought of that.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: But my mother, my mother and I was like, I don't think anything would happen, but just to be sure, you probably want to clear this event because if there's no airflow going there, it could be really bad.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know what's annoying about this process, though, and we're going to get into quarterback stuff with the combine and two of the things, two announcements that were made that I thought nobody talked about that I thought were the most fascinating parts of the combine so far this week.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: But the one thing I got to mention is like,
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: that and I have seen comments on things I've done talking about the snow since this is gone up and you know people just kind of posting on social media as they do it's the people from like Minnesota right now that are just like peacock and being like oh I deal with that every day and it's like shut up you choose to live in the North Pole like a jackass like don't yell at me when my infrastructure shuts down and then it's a hard day for me like
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: They deal with cold, but I don't think they deal with that level.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: I might be wrong.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Because I talk to somebody who lives in Minnesota last night, and they, like, she heard my story.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: And she was like, oh my God, I've never heard anything like that.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, but you live in Minnesota.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, oh, yeah, we don't get like that wet heavy, you know, because like the wet heavy snow, like turns into like freaking cement.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then overnight, it turns into like it's like if you if you don't like that's why anybody who's listening and Florida or Texas or whatever.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: you you might wonder why you go outside five times six times to snow that's why yeah because because if you just let it go it becomes fucking sorry impossible to move it in a long couple days no the the the f of very much appropriate all right let's get into it Albert because we know we're much less straight where we're both at I think after last
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: parts of my body or sore that I don't even know.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: We got kids just banging at every four corners of the house.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: It is absolutely me, I'm up there.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: But the combat, so we're going to get to the two of stuff.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to the Kyler stuff.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought that that was obviously something in the AJ Brown stuff.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: But to me, the two most interesting things is we had two teams, one that made it to the playoffs and lost in the first round, and one that made it to the conference championship game, and really a couple of decisions away from the Super Bowl.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And both of them offensive coaches and both of them turned over plate calling duty, which I thought was fascinating.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: We had Dave Canales turning over plate calling duty to Brad, it's exciting.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: You needed to take more of a CEO approach to the team and Sean Peyton turning over plate calling to Davis, what I mean, that was, I mean, anyone who knows Sean knows how much he likes to be in control.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'll start with the latter one.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that this had anything to do the subtext of this at all?
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: had anything to do with the fact that basically that loss to the Patriots came down to game management.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: And he may be felt like being a position to do things better.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's one's interesting too because my first thought was like from a long range perspective.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if you're John Peyton and you and and this works and Davis, well, web goes out and kills it, then you're going to be like right back to square one again.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean, for another play caller, and you obviously made the move to promote him.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: My second thought was that I wondered if this had something to do with the leverage that Davis had.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: And that, you know, I know the Ravens of Kick Tires on him, the Giants of Kick Tires on him.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, some of the teams that were out there, you know, looking at potential offensive coordinator candidates would have handed in play calling.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe their Broncos felt compelled to do it for that reason, you know, but then going back to the FC Championship game and the way the game management played into that, it, I mean, I don't think Sean would ever admit it because I don't think that
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think rightfully, you would never want it to look like one thing.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Right, cause that sort of change where you've been something.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's legitimately had a place sheet in his hands since what, like, 2,000, 1999, something like that?
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Really, if you were back, like you look at it, giant so C gets fired from there, goes to Dallas with parcels, OC there.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's the playcaller's whole time in New Orleans and now in Denver.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: So it's been a part of his job for, I mean, over a quarter century.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: So you never would want to like say, like, oh, yeah, like, I'm changing the way I've done business for a quarter century and the way that I've won for a quarter century because of one situation like that, however,
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if we went back and we really dug into it and I haven't done this, but I wonder if we went back and we really dug into it if there were a few more of these over the course of the year.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if there are some things we didn't notice that weren't as obvious where he felt like.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: this or that slipped because I had my head buried in the play sheet.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting, you know, because again, like you said, like this was, I mean, the Broncos had been on this trajectory up over Sean Payton's three years.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like something is like horribly wrong there.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: They've successfully switched out quarterbacks.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: They've developed Bonyx.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: You could say maybe they might have been super cool.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Bonyx doesn't get her
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: then the panthers same thing like the panthers were in a ditch when Dave can now it's got there in two years he's got them in the playoffs and it looks like they're headed up too so it's just interesting that this isn't like
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't, this isn't, like this, this sort of boot is on your checklist, Connor, of like the coaching survival checklist.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, this move is on your checklist, but it doesn't feel like that's what these moves are specifically.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, and those guys don't need to do that, you know?
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and before we transition over to Carolina, because I think that's a different thing.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: The Denver thing is interesting to me for one more reason.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so let's say you hand off play calling duty to Davis Web, right?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he's predictably as good at it as you think he is, you're only going to have him for one season.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, I think it's one of those things where it does that foreshadow for you.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: a situation where, and I guess we could say the Broncos were air quotes all in last year when they kind of went bananas in free agency.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that this is a team that we have to keep an eye on is like, are they in the mix for someone like AJ Brown?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Are they in conversations for trades for big pieces?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Do they think
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: that what happened last year is an indication that they are actually on the door step of making it to the Super Bowl again.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Music, they're not.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think that, so my, my, my, my.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's things like you think they're not.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: My wires are all crossed on this.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_00]: And, and I'll tell you why.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, like last calendar year, we were putting a bow on the commander's season.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: And we were saying what a fabulous like they're they're ahead of schedule.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now go get Debo Samuel now trade for Laramie tonsil that you know get rid of all your picks like everything's great.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: When in reality that run was a reflection of a lot of like micro occurrences that I think really prime the pump Denver is kind of the same way right where the AFC fell apart.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: And now they were I'm not saying anything away from the fact that they won as many games as they did.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: the AFC fell apart, like every good quarterback got hurt, disappeared, his team missed the playoffs.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, like, and so for me, it's like, you know, it was last year, your shot, and you can't think this way, if you're in NFL franchise, I get it.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like that little,
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: modicum of doubt is gonna wipe away whatever progress that you've made.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm just wondering, like, is this like, are they the, and I hate saying this, like, the all-in-team, every team is all in the Ravens Fire John Harball, like, you have to be all in every year.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and, you know, you do wonder, because I want to say this the right way.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: You do wonder.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that question of, do you pay bonus?
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's eligible for a deal next year.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think we know where, like, say, Jayden bounces back Caleb builds on last year, Drake builds on last year.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about those three guys almost certainly in that case, if they all ascend, like it looks like they can ascend.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: All three of those guys what what are those guys going to get 65 70 something like that right and like do you get put in that position where Now if you're if you're you're Denver you have to pay bone next that same way like the same way That the dolphins got boxed in and had to pay to a 55 because Justin Herbert God.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because you're a point.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know what like it wasn't Jordan love it was Jordan Jordan loves that same off season right yeah, so Jordan love God that same off season after four years so like does the may Daniels Williams like these superhero quarterbacks who we know the ceiling is there physically for those guys to be top five guys all three of them right
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: So does that box you and if you're Denver and now are you looking at it like man we're going to be in a weird spot in a year to like where we've got to pay bonus that amount of money and if we can't surround him this way the way we we we're trying to now if it changes the way we surround them does that change the equation for our franchise all together, you know, and I think it's sort of like in a way it's sort of like the jail and hurts.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's on her question to me because the Eagles have been so aggressive in building around him.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like he never got his second contract, but eventually the bill is going to come due for what the Eagles have been doing.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: So it's just you're kind of like you're still in that grace period where you like you don't know what this is going to look like for the next five years, 10 years.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's a little different when you don't have a quarterback that and maybe bone next does become that.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: But do we think he's going to be like Josh Allen just from value standpoint?
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Or do we think he's going to be like Patrick Mahomes from a value standpoint?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: If he's not, then I think we're looking at a situation where
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: this window could wind up being more precious than even the one that the patriots are bears or or or commanders are in.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that let's let's remember kind of the essence of this conversation because I think that the point of this is not great as an isn't a really player.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: But if you think he can only be the seventh best quarterback, rather than being the second or third best quarterback in the league, right, that really changed the equation, because that's what it was with Tua, right?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I know I think this is very important.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: as it pertains to another quarterback who I'm going to get to in a second who's GM used a little bit of spicy language at the combine yesterday, which is very exciting.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: But just really quickly with the panthers, I'm just wondering, and you could say no, because this is one of those situations where like everything is great, if you're Carolina, right?
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: And everything worked.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and Brad Isaac is great, you know, I'm not this is not a knock on him, but do you think that this had like ownership suggestion on it somehow because think about it this way if you're Caroline if you're Dave can else like,
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: and you have ever on defense, who's essentially the CEO of the defense, you had one of the best creative for thinking special teams units in the league.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: What CEO stuff do you need to be doing?
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll need to be like flipping about it.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would say this though.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like I would say for Canal specifically, I don't know the play call was ever, you know, his best trade.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's a little different than Peyton.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think Peyton,
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: It pains a lot more than just a football play collar, right?
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's got parcels and I'm like, he's right.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's molded, but I think for a long time, most people saw his calling card as play calling.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that, like, I don't know that's really what Canalis is.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think what Canalis has done better than anything, is he has,
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: set up here's what we're looking for in players here's our culture here's like the traits that I'm looking for in every position and that's like allowed them to kind of get up off the mat for a person L standpoint and like given you know Dan Moore and then you look at like the way they drafted right like so they go get Tettaro make mill and they go get make score I think a big part of that
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember talking to these guys about it's going to find a reco-doubtle.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a certain something that they're looking for that fits the peak caral program, which is ostensibly the the the the Dave canalist program.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's something that they're looking for that they're built and it's really helped them and putting their roster together, which has helped them again, recover from a really bad period of drafting and developing.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you're, if you're David Tepper, if you're Dan Morgan, when you're talking with Dave Canalist about this, and you think he's done that really well, maybe the idea more is to, hey, like, let's lean into that.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like, this young coach that we have here, who's done a really good job of Bryce, his shot to call plays and see what it looks like, knowing you can always pull that back.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_01]: You need to know.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's easier.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'd say it's easier to pull that
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: then it would be a month or two into the season say, well, let's give a play calling to Brad Isaac.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: You give him the offseason now to prepare to do it and then you see how it looks.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: And again, if it looked doesn't look right for six or eight games, and you can always pull it back.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: but I'm happy for Reddidsick, son of former jet steam.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: John, when I cover the team, yeah.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: So it's wild.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I remember Brad was like playing high college football when I was coming to jet.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's like the offensive coordinator.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: But at that moment for a fight sometime, like this is, I'm not going to turn this into another age.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Discussion, but the one that scared me most recently was Drake or Patrick.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Junior, I think is, oh my god, that lead on that long ago.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: You might become my draft eligible next year.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I have to look it up.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but when I saw him, I'm like, dude, the fact of a Drake or Patrick Junior is on my radar now, like, I wasn't even like new covering the league.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_01]: When his dad came in, I was in like my fourth year covering the league.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Or fifth year covering the league.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: on the quarterback front.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we have two in Kyler now.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_00]: I want to kick that can down the road because you have this, made this great point on Botanix and the rising tide and the cost of an extension and we're sitting here after the Texans imploded in a playoff game against the Patriots where,
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: Again, not all these picks were his fault, but CJ Strad through a lot of interceptions, and CJ Strad had a bad sophomore season that even assessed data to coordinate or change, right?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: So we've all this, there's this there there, and Nick Asario said that discussion about trading CJ is Moronic, which you know, whatever, I've been talking about this since August, so but I've been a moron for 38 years.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: So he's dead on about that, that he's not incorrect,
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: If you're the Texans, you were 3-0 with Davis Mills, come back, please.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, housekeeping was not going to do it.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just starting, I was waiting for an opening there, but no, it's fine.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Come back, please.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Where are you going to put that in the show?
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: This is just how it's going to be trying to do their job, clean Albert's room, but they don't know we're going to podcast going on here.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: But yes,
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: The situation with CJ Stroud as we outlined it plus the fact that it's going to be the standard now to pay these guys 60 plus million dollars years French ice quarterback plus the fact that you're going to have the will Anderson deal which is going to be a market topping extension for it used in at the edge rush your position.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: What's that?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: Is he at 50 probably gets close?
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: Right, so it's not ironic, right?
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's not ironic to think about it, right?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: I thought about this.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is weird, and maybe it's just me.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: But do you think the optic of the cap having a three in front of it might like embolden some agents to be like, well, you know, this is not the same environment anymore.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean, like when you're asked for it?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, honestly, like I think for some agents, you look at it and you say,
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: there's that the cap's over 300 million now like what are you talking about you can't afford it like you know what I mean like and you can do it being played percentage game and everything else is escalated so fast.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know I you were talking there and I almost thought about it too like where
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: with the quarterbacks, I almost feel like it's becoming like the max, the max deals in the NBA, we are at least the way they were, where the worst place an NBA team could be was to sign the wrong guy to a max deal.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right, right, because you couldn't get out of it and it's and it prevented you from going out and getting another like A1A player, you know what I mean?
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and so
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's somewhere where you have to be careful now, and I think, you know, two in Kyler become the cautionary tales, but I think we can all see that coming, too.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when everyone's getting that same number, that number is massive, not everybody's going to be right.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, not everybody is going to feel great about that two or three years down the line.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: And you do wonder how that's going to affect, again, this offseason, Bryce Young, CJ Strahd, are...
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: both, you know, both eligible for extensions, my guess would be like the two of them both get their fifth year options exercise and maybe go into this year the way two of it did yes, we will year four.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and have a group again.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, but I think these that the numbers of escalated to the point where it's like if you're not willing to work with a team a team might wait a little bit longer to do a deal unless it's like again obvious where we might be with with with Caleb and and and Drake and and Jaden next year and that's the thing it's like I just wonder how
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: Moronic it really is when you look at how well that that team has been constructed and how it has essentially survived.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Through CJ Strahd struggles, right?
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and and how it's thrived as he's getting comfortable.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: And now this all the tools are there that first year wasn't a fluke.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: The kids incredibly smart.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great job.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: But I can't remember.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I guess some people want to compare Jaden to like what's happened with CJ.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's the same.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: Now, like, Jaden hurt.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: And if we're having an argument about whether or not Jaden makes it, I think that's more like injury related and based on his frame.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, can he take the pounding of playing the way that he plays?
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, is that going to catch?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Is that already caught up with him, right?
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like with CJ, I think the questions are more about where the football is right now.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what, I mean, that's what I feel like, right?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just, I don't know, this is such an interesting market because CJ Stroud, you could get
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Pop price for him right now because there is nothing else on the market like look at the state of things like the cardinals are like do we have to keep Kyler Murray, you know like the Pittsburgh steward was like God, I hope 45 year old Aaron Rogers comes back this year You know to play quarterback again or else what what the hell else so we can do like it's it's bleak out there, man, you know And if you were to just Dangle him and just be like all right.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: two first round draft picks and like a second or something like that.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: And you hold the fort with Davis Mills this year or which it's at least interesting that they sign him doing extension in season.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I'm not saying I'm not saying the Davis Mills is better than CJ strout.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: CJ strout is more talented.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's a better quarterback.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's got, you know, like every one of the stars.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: next.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: But that's how we're asking.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like do you see Jay strad enough to walk down the aisle for five years at sixty plus million dollars a year and you can't get out of it for a while after watching the cardinal struggle with this and after watching the dolphin struggle with it, or do you set yourself up for the twenty twenty seven draft that everybody wants in on right now, you know, or trade for trade for.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, get curcussed.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's like
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think the 27 draft is going to like, it's going to hover over all of this.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like I hang out in one second, because I thought, like, so, you know, I did my, my annual thing with McShay and, um, with McShay and, uh, and DJ.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to pull it up for you because the way that these names, just, I mean, they rolled off Todd McShaze tongue, right?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he started talking about, he was like, listen to this list and just start firing off names, right?
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Archmanting, Dante Moore, Brandon, Source B, Lenora Sellers, Trinidad, Chambers, Dury and
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: it's freaking 11 guys.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: And that was mean I'm not I'm not sitting here telling you there are 11 first round picks.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I don't think there's anybody this like Caleb was going into 23 right like where you know that that 23 season 24 drafts like what we sort of always knew like this guy is going to be the number one pick.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: We knew like Drake may was going to go somewhere in the top five so you don't have like the
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so, four of those hit.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if, you know, arch and say, let's just say it's arched with Norse sellers, CJ Carr, and, you know, Daryne Mensell, let's say it's those four.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys hit or Sam Levitt with Lane Kiffin at LSU or Julian Sayin, like, looks like Drew Breeze, it'll hire you.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: you could be in a situation where we're looking at like four or five or six guys you know going in the top 10 to 15 picks the way we had it in 24 you know and if that happens you know like now you almost have if you have one of these guys where you know it's Bryce and CJ whoever
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, even like a, you know, Minnesota has the ship sailed on JJ or they back in that market in 27.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of questions that have to be answered, you know, and it's, and what I think the, the thing that really Magdeifies it all of it is the fact that it's Fernando Mendoza, like no one else this year.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: like I don't I don't get the sense that many teams view that high Simpson is a franchise quarterback.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think teams view Garrett.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Nussmire is a franchise quarterbacks.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: So if that's your view and I'm not saying it's every team's view, but if that's your view that is Mendoza and then a black hole a quarterback or a Mendoza and a bunch of backups.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: then you know you're going to be circling twenty seven already if you're a team like i mean the jats will be the best example of the right because they got three pikes in the first round next year yeah yeah i don't know i'm just saying like you know again and i think that Nick casserole is doing the right thing because cj stralds young he's impressionable like all these guys you're sensitive to a degree and i'm not saying that as an insult i'm saying like if
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: are our great editor, John Bloom came out and said like, yeah, we're thinking about trading Connor, like I'd be hurt about that, me and my wife would probably go in a little bit of a tailspin.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: So you have to come out and say these things in a public facing role because you want to make sure that your quarterback feels confident if you have to roll with them.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: But would you pass them aggressively, put your house on the market?
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't because I would sell it in 38 seconds and then I'd have nowhere to go.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not saying that is like a bragging, like a look at my house, like, no, I knew, didn't the Northeast.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_00]: I knew, Jersey, like if you put your house on the market, there's just a line down the street of people asking if they can buy it.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's people that just come to our house and are like, can we buy it?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's insane.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is how crazy by the way this is.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I got an offer to house trade at one point, believe it or not.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Someone who, like, lived in our town.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: And they were, they had a bigger house, but they liked our property.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so they left a note on the door.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: And we have trails around our house.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: They would walk by it.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: We really liked that property, but their house was bigger.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember I like like me and Emily talked about we really like our house and you know we were my mom's a real estate agent so like you know she was meticulous like to the point where she really pissed Emily off at one point I was shooting everything down and I didn't mind but she like it was all for the best because like she knew exactly what she was doing
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it would take a lot for me to leave my house because of that, because we went through that whole process.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I was blown like swear to God, note on our door to consider how straight it was pretty crazy.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: Was this like house for house plus like a mid-fifth.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it was.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was like a one thing to kind of got me a little bit was the other house had a pool.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: And we were...
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so that part of it, the shallowest that is and cool is anybody knows real estate knows like a pool does not add it actually hurts the value.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: It takes value.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, because they're going to be more families that are going to be like nope, I don't want to risk group McKinsey, which is totally valid concern per cent.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's why like for us, I like the idea of a pool, it was a non-starter for Emily.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: We had basically she was pregnant with our second.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: We had a really young oldest at the time.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: and so like but like by the time this trade got off for the kids were old enough I was kind of like I don't know man.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of like to have a pool.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like I kind of like the idea of being able to wake up like 80 I'm in the summer and just jump in.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: I've never had a pool.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: So the idea of like in the summer just like waking up at seven a.m. And just jumping in the pool is always like really appealed to me.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 30:36[SPEAKER_00]: So the note was like I'm at 17 Hickory Lane and and just Yeah, yeah, to their credit.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: They were very self-aware about it's like we know this is very strange
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was like left the phone number, whatever, and never want anywhere, but you house for house.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: What a balsy move.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love that.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: I might try to pitch that.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: They were older though, so their kids had moved out.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, so anyway, and this is before we put our additional house, but it was, like, I, like, I
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I look at it so I've like I've been there.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're just like a really weird spot to be in that is wild I don't know where I don't know how to get out of this So I'm just gonna say that I want to talk about I'm talking about CJ Straud and then I and then I took you down this big picture out of 247 quarterbacks and then We got in the house is putting house on the market.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'll get along so that if I'm a little scared or shot and all over the place, I apologize for sure.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: And Cassario, again, I think he's doing the right thing.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's doing the great job.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: My, just don't know, but period on it.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's sort of phenomenal job, but just to put a period on it.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: I, I think he had to say moronic, but I think he would be that if the steelers called and said two first round picks, even late first round picks for CJ Strahd.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, they're,
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, I mean, I think the question right now becomes.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Are you better off with CJ at 65 or Davis Mills at 10 or 20 or whatever it would be if he has a good year and then having every defensive free agent want to come and play for you and it'd be like a destination, you know, and it's a solid Seattle was able to do with a, I mean, that's the weird thing about this.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's the weird thing about these economics to me, is like, I think the strangest thing about it is if you, if you draft the guy and you develop him, you're almost, you can find almost no examples of a guy drafting and developing and getting a second contract that isn't like, there was the Jordan Love Bridge, but almost always if you, if you, if you draft and develop a quarterback and he gets a second contract, that second contract is the very top of the market.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yet, the C-Ox are able to go and get Sam Darnl for essentially half, who's a better quarterback, Sam Darnl, or to a.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, he cost him half.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it's because they didn't draft and develop them.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's because they picked them up.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's like almost because of the optics.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: It was weird.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like that it works that way.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, you couldn't get away with giving, you couldn't give away with giving your own quarter about that you drafted and developed a three or a hundred million dollar deal.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: But that's exactly what the Seahawk Scott Sam Darrell for.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: to unkiler, I think, to is interesting because John A. Erick Sullivan, the new Dolphin's GM, when you listen to him talk yesterday, it was basically like, yeah, no, we're gonna, we're trying everything to get the sky off the rocks, you know.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: And you don't, you know, there's levels to this, right where I think,
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: For example, like the all time famous example is when less needs said we're not going to delete Sam Bradford and then like three weeks later, they traded Sam Bradford right I think they're levels to this and we are absolutely not trading a player is up here and that and that really means parentheses we would trade the player if you gave him you know it gave us a good offer and then all options are on the table basically means we can't wait to get this guy off the right
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: we're just running to the street and anyone who makes this a reasonable offer will have themselves a brand new quarterback.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I just don't know.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, are you hearing anything about the market for him?
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is... Well, the economics of him and Kyle are actually kind of different, even though the market is the same.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: You guarantee money is the same, right?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: So it's right in that 54 or 55 million dollar range for both of them.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: However,
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: To us is all in one year with the exception of like a million seven or something like that in twenty seven, right?
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like so like you're talking if you're the dolphins about like swallowing a fifty four million dollar.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: Hit and guaranteed money if you walk away from him well.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to make him in a way it makes him easier trading away.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: It makes him harder to trade.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's harder to trade because it'd be hard for us to make take on that lump sum.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: But if you're willing to eat a bunch of that money, you would be able to trade him because there'd be no required.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: The team then has some level of control on 27 because that's not guaranteed money.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Kyler is different because Kyler, I think it's 36 of it.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's fully guaranteed this year and then
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: like 18 of it is fully guaranteed next year so can you move that can you move that contract settling some other team with 18 million dollars in 2027.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think it actually becomes harder to move Kyler even though Kyler might be the better player or have higher
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: like a saddling another team with having him at that number in the roster unless he's going to renegotiate which why would he right like he's getting the money anyway and like the the the the recourse is to cut him
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, I think it's, it feels to me like the, the cardinals might be a little bit more depoxed in them than the dolphins, where the dolphins can just say, screw up, we're going to cut them, um, or screw up, well, well, well, well, you, you know, we'll eat 35 million of this because we're going, well, we'd be on the hook for 54 anyway, buy back a traffic and somebody can have to it for 19 million next year, you know, right.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's, that's, I mean, do you feel like two is just heading to a world where
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like, you know, you're just kind of like, it's going to be like Russell Wilson on the Giants after like week four like it's just like he's just going to have the helmet on and you know, we're just going to show him every week and he's just going to go into the game.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's like, I think two on Kyle are both, you know, gets thrown into the Sam Darmel Daniel Jones.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, Baker may feel that bucket, right?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like, where is the bucket?
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm talking about just this coming year, like, yes.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think like training to it would be great coming year, like the way somebody's going to view them.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think if you can get the dolphins to pay down a bunch of the salary.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: like you would look at it as we're bringing to an as a high-end bridge to get to 27 right what's like there's gonna be some need for that out there because you just don't have other answers out there i mean that's why i look at it like
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: the Niners were brilliant to get Mac Jones signed to the contract he signed to and they've got real leverage here.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners can you know the Niners can keep them or the Niners can say to another team like you don't have to pay anything.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to pay anything down like you'll just have this to clean.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's 4.6 million or maybe it's somewhere in there that he's doing next year.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually interesting.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good example of the Niners.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: I think learning to lessen a little bit and that they could have done the same thing with Sam Bradford or Sam Bradford.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Sam Darnold, a couple of years ago and didn't and Darnold went to the Vikings.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like now they've got a lot of control in the situation.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: The Kyler thing, I remember earlier, I think that's why I got mixed up with you as well.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: Kyler Albert, I think, is different in almost every conceivable way.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about you.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think Kyler, the quantity of games.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_00]: What's that?
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: Is it video game?
- 38:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, I think like I think if you're looking at at least to me, if you're looking at the problems, right, Kyler maybe like I guess two in different or whatever, you know, you perceived him as being two in different, not as much of like a raw raw guy to a maybe like.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: too too much so right I mean like if you look at how everything fell out Miami last year for him to basically intentionally or not like nukem like McDaniel who was better to him than any coach that he'd ever had and say like all this stuff about the media the players only meetings and like you know if it and I think it was an unintentional throwing under the bus
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I think we saw both of these quarterbacks looked like when they were backed up against a wall at various points in their career.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know about you, but like to me, Kyler is probably more tolerable.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm another GM or a coach, I don't know about you.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like we could have different thoughts or opinions on this.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: But like I think almost like Kyler's been through it and whereas two is going through it.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that there's a big difference between those two things.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: Right, because I get least and I mean, it's just kind of like the approach of the player, right?
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like where if Kyle has already been through it, like he's already processed the fact that like I'm not
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not there guy anymore.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm gonna have to find out.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: You've already had the mental gymnastics that you have to do.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is a new phase of my career where you know, two is, I mean, really, like if you think about it, like for two, this is probably the first time in his life he's had to deal with that.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm not, you know what I mean?
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like now he dealt with a little bit with Flores at the beginning, but that's not the same thing as like this, where it's like, it's like a really, it's a real career reset, you know,
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I think like with to the question is the same as, you know, what we were talking about with CJ and Bryce, it's like, you know, would you like are you like, like, it does the guy have the capability of at this point, does he have the capability of even getting back into the top 10?
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: At the position, and I'm not sure that he does.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, like if, you know, if you had, this is like a gut check, do you think that either of them meaningfully factor into the quarterback conversation, or do you think this is like, because sometimes you look at what we were clamoring about like a mile's Garrett trade this time last year, right?
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: And it just doesn't materialize, like, what are the, like do you think the percentage chances that they remain with their teams currently are better than most people are thinking about from the outside?
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think either I'm gonna be with their teams, that's really okay.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: I just think we've got new coaches in there.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like it wouldn't.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and then there are options out there too, like does Michael Florgon get Jimmy Garoppolo to be a starter in Arizona?
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then obviously, I think the one that everybody's talked about is to Jeff Hathley and John Erick Sullivan go and get, you know, Molyque Willis to be that high-end bridge and maybe he's more than that we'll see.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, I, I just think, if, I just think there's something about that about new coach coming in when they don't immediately, when Mike made Daniel arrived in Miami, he almost immediately stamped it, I am here to fix to it.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like I'm here to replace to it.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was like right away.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, first through the doors, two is my guy, right?
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: And he did everything to make two of feel like he's a franchise guy.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Ford didn't start that way in Arizona with Kyler.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Halfway didn't start that way with two on Miami.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: And both those guys had to know that if I don't do this coming out of the gates, then that's going to, so if you don't feel that way about them, you know, then and and and you don't come out and say it,
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: They would have had to be strong on their support on the front end right now.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: I totally agree.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_00]: I Well, here's my other gut check question then
- 42:45[SPEAKER_00]: you said grapple with the cardinals like and I'm not asking you to decipher combine whispers you've been out to a clock in the morning I know I have a tracker on you I just making sure that you're getting developed and everything like that you know but after night one night two of combine bars and boozy meetings with secret decision makers like what do you think I mean is it if you
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: I hate the phrase gun to your head.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's because it's like why would anyone do that if I just wanted to know who the quarterback the dice is big, but I think the masking.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: Who do you think both teams?
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think both teams, I just I don't know if they're gonna be able to thread the needle of trades either of them.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're gonna try.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think the players in both situations would probably best serve being cut.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: And again, the optics of that aren't great, but what being cut allows you to do is I'm making the same amount of money in any case.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: I can just go sign for the minimum wherever the best place is for me personally.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where you start to circle like a Minnesota.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: right like a Minnesota's done their homework you're going back to last year you know November and December at the end of the season like they've done their homework on what this is going to you know what this is going to look like and if there is a reclamation project out there for them to put in competition with JJ McCarthy the same way they went and got same darn old you know a couple of years ago so like I
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: They both those quarterbacks like do they push buttons and say
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going where you trade me, you know, and make it so difficult on the team that's come that's where it's like, you sort of force your way out.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: I actually think that might be the smart play for both quarterbacks because then you take sort of, you take the financials out of the decision and you can make that sheer football decision because you can go to the minimum wherever is the best spot for you and, you know, your old team is on the hook for all of it.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know what you think.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I don't know.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think it'll be interesting.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think I don't know.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say, you guys have a no trade clause.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: I would have, and this is not a great part.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think Kyler might hold on.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I would say, though.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I can put on one of the things this.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it matters because my overarching thought is that neither of the two of them, when we're telling the story of the 2026 NFL season, I don't think either of them are more than like a ancillary character, I don't know.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's like a mean to ever have no great classes, but you can make it uncomfortable for a team trade is my point.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah We can make it uncomfortable for Albert was certainly did we welcome up after a night of of reporting at the NFL I did make that by the way.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm always like really sensitive about these shots when I have to do zoom from wherever I am Nice and so or stream yard as the case may be you with the jita
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so that was actually the one benefit of that was the one benefit Connor of my situation is the price came down I'm no rookie.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: I made it.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm buying a luxury
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I flipped this around.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love this hotel.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is we want one of my favorite hotels.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: I do too.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: I once got the during COVID.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: I got the penthouse there.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was it was a penthouse.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I've had the corner rooms where you have like the floor to wall ceilings like all around.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was ruinous.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_01]: That was actually during my
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: When I was here was taking it when they when NFL network sent me here for a month, like and said you are parked in an Indianapolis until Peyton Manning is cut.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: In 2012 and that was when I actually decided I was going to propose to Emily because if she put up with that then.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't take it away any longer, you know, so but yeah, like this is a, this is a great hotel.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's how I believe I want to say it was brand new then because I think that they built this hotel for the Super Bowl.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: When they got the Super Bowl.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: And it was the Super Bowl itself was in February of 2012.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like this hotel was brand new.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: um well enjoy Albert the beautiful scenery hopefully you get back home and when you do we'll take another episode thanks again guys though for being patient with us these last couple days it's been a scrambled but we're gonna get back to a regular schedule next week it's third twenty twenty six what was it how but what was the blizzard or
- 48:05[UNKNOWN]: You
