Visitor Center Moves Temporarily | Birmingham News
The Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument’s visitor center is temporarily relocating to The Commons at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute starting August 19, as the historic A.G. Gaston Motel undergoes major renovations—including new exhibits and a recreated 1963 War Room—to honor its pivotal role in the civil rights movement. While the motel’s coffee shop and 1968 wing remain open, the temporary center will operate Wed-Fri, 10 AM–4 PM. The main museum stays on its own schedule—Tue-Sat, 10 AM–5 PM.
