  Speaker 2: all these different things so to me truly if you

  Speaker 2: be physical I want to see them trying to run

  Speaker 2: defensive side of the ball, getting after the quarterback, like

  Speaker 2: running the football and, and rush defense, pass rush defense

  Speaker 2: to me are the calling cards of Virginia tech. So

  Speaker 2: if I see all of those things and it's only

  Speaker 2: seven wins, I'm cool. I think that's a good spot

  Speaker 1: I think what's interesting with them and you talk about

  Speaker 1: the defense keeping the that guy in charge, keeping Brent

  Speaker 1: time that doesn't go super smooth. I think it has

  Speaker 1: a chance to work out a lot smoother here because

  Speaker 1: of pride being there.

  Speaker 2: Yes. Well, listen, he, he, before he made the change

  Speaker 2: to head coach, was one of the best in the

  Speaker 2: country at what he did. And there's something to that, right?

  Speaker 2: Like going back to what you are elite at, what

  Speaker 2: you are one of the best, I'm very excited for that.

  Speaker 2: And I think that is a little bit of an undervalue,

  Speaker 2: overlooked type of thing as we go into this season.

  Speaker 2: Like this defense might win them a handful of games.

  Speaker 2: do they get the edge? Because that guy is just

  Speaker 2: dialed in on calling plays, calling blitzes, getting the football back.

  Speaker 2: you know, for his offense. And it is super unique.

  Speaker 2: I don't think it's ever happened anywhere else ever that

  Speaker 2: you get fired as the head guy and you are

  Speaker 2: immediately hired as the defensive coordinator. But for all those

  Speaker 1: as a player, like when you start to get rolling,

  Speaker 1: even if those four opponents that you just beat aren't

  Speaker 1: premier teams, you're still a new coach that's taking over

  Speaker 1: a new regime. And I just feel like if you

  Speaker 1: start out 4-0, which I think they should, even with
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: the two road games, what does that then do for
• 4:56
  Speaker 1: you when you get to that tough month of October?

  Speaker 1: And then conversely, if you go 2-2 or you drop

  Speaker 1: one that you shouldn't, How does that then impact you

  Speaker 1: when you get to that really tough stretch too?

  Speaker 2: It's such a great question because that's exactly where I

  Speaker 2: was going to go next. You gain so much confidence

  Speaker 2: and so much belief. And that's with a lot of

  Speaker 2: these teams. That's with Florida State. That's with Clemson as

  Speaker 2: they face Alabama and LSU respectively early in the season.

  Speaker 2: And that's with these guys. If you start 4-0, you're

  Speaker 2: just believing, right? You're believing what we're doing is working.

  Speaker 2: Let's keep it going. What can we do a little

  Speaker 2: bit more of to get a little bit more out

  Speaker 2: as this thing really cranks up and, and really just

  Speaker 2: finding your identity. Like that's what I do love about,

  Speaker 2: So it is nice when you can kind of ease

  Speaker 2: in now, again, historically ODU is kind of a bear

  Speaker 2: for these boys. So, you know, I'm not going to

  Speaker 2: say anything's a pushover, but you know, can, can you,

  Speaker 2: can you figure that out quickly? And then that time

  Speaker 2: you make a road trip, back to back to Maryland

  Speaker 2: and to Boston College. You feel great about your team,

  Speaker 2: who you are, what you want to do. Then you

  Speaker 2: get home from that road trip 4-0. You're in a

  Speaker 2: good spot mentally.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, they will be a fascinating team to watch this

  Speaker 1: year because of all the Franklin's and really just for
• 6:17
  Speaker 1: as long as he's there, you know, because of all
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: the Franklin stuff. And you even mentioned the record against
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: top 10 teams. I wish if I'd have done more research.

  Speaker 1: I wish we could look at that and see how
• 6:28
  Speaker 1: many times was he a dog and how many times
• 6:30
  Speaker 1: was that losses to Ohio state and Michigan where no

  Speaker 1: one in the country predicted Penn state to win those games.

  Speaker 1: And then we look back at him and say, well,

  Speaker 1: you couldn't beat Ohio state and Michigan. You know, it's like,

  Speaker 1: Like, okay. You know, he was clearly the third best
