  show
• 1:41
  that
• 1:41
  we
• 1:41
  do
• 1:41
  on

  a

• 1:43
  That
• 1:43
  we
• 1:43
  do
• 1:44
  Wednesday
• 1:44
  morning.
• 1:45
  It
• 1:45
  is

  recorded.
• 1:46
  So
• 1:46
  you

  get

  the
• 1:47
  latest
• 1:47
  information
• 1:47
  out
• 1:48
  there.
• 1:48
  And
• 1:49
  I
• 1:49
  wanted
• 1:49
  to
• 1:49
  talk
• 1:49
  about
• 1:50
  a
• 1:50
  couple
• 1:50
  things
• 1:50
  today,
• 1:51
  so
• 1:51
  this
• 1:51
  might
• 1:51
  be
• 1:51
  a
• 1:52
  little
• 1:52
  bit
• 1:52
  longer.
• 1:53
  One
• 1:53
  of
• 1:54
  them
• 1:54
  is
• 1:54
  I
• 1:54
  am
• 1:54
  seeing
• 1:55
  a
• 1:55
  drastic
• 1:56
  slowdown
• 1:57
  in
• 1:58
  everything
• 1:58
  with
• 1:59
  contractors,
• 2:00
  subcontractors,
• 2:02
  building,
• 2:03
  remodeling,
• 2:04
  repairs,
• 2:06
  all
• 2:06
  of
• 2:06
  it.
• 2:07
  I
• 2:07
  am
• 2:08
  seeing
• 2:08
  things
• 2:09
  coming
• 2:09
  to
• 2:09
  a
• 2:09
  halt
• 2:10
  out
• 2:10
  there
• 2:10
  right
• 2:10
  now.
• 2:11
  Are
• 2:12
  we
• 2:12
  coming
• 2:12
  into
• 2:13
  a
• 2:13
  construction
• 2:14
  crash?
• 2:15
  I
• 2:16
  don't
• 2:16
  believe
• 2:16
  that
• 2:16
  there's
• 2:17
  going
• 2:17
  to
• 2:17
  be
• 2:17
  a
• 2:18
  crash
• 2:19
  with,
• 2:19
  with
• 2:19
  our
• 2:20
  house
• 2:20
  prices,
• 2:20
  I
• 2:20
  don't
• 2:21
  think
• 2:21
  that's
• 2:21
  coming
• 2:21
  anywhere
• 2:22
  near.
• 2:22
  But
• 2:23
  have
• 2:23
  people
• 2:24
  tapped
• 2:24
  the
• 2:24
  brakes
• 2:25
  so
• 2:25
  hard
• 2:25
  right
• 2:25
  now
• 2:26
  waiting
• 2:26
  to
• 2:26
  see
• 2:26
  how
• 2:26
  the
• 2:27
  shoe
• 2:27
  drops
• 2:27
  with
• 2:27
  tariffs,
• 2:28
  interest
• 2:29
  rates
• 2:29
  and
• 2:29
  everything
• 2:29
  else.
• 2:30
  Have
• 2:30
  we
• 2:31
  hit
• 2:31
  the
• 2:31
  brakes
• 2:32
  on
• 2:32
  that
• 2:33
  creating
• 2:34
  a
• 2:35
  space
• 2:35
  for
• 2:36
  you
• 2:36
  to
• 2:36
  maybe
• 2:36
  get
• 2:37
  your
• 2:37
  project
• 2:37
  done?
• 2:38
  I've
• 2:39
  been
• 2:39
  talking
• 2:39
  to
• 2:39
  a
• 2:39
  lot
• 2:40
  of
• 2:40
  different
• 2:40
  people
• 2:40
  out
• 2:40
  there
• 2:41
  from
• 2:42
  contractors,
• 2:43
  remodeling
• 2:44
  contractors,
• 2:45
  H.
• 2:45
  VAC
• 2:46
  plumbing,
• 2:46
  electrical
• 2:47
  professionals,
• 2:48
  all
• 2:48
  of
• 2:48
  them
• 2:48
  out
• 2:48
  there.
• 2:49
  And
• 2:49
  they
• 2:50
  are
• 2:50
  very
• 2:50
  concerned
• 2:51
  with
• 2:52
  where
• 2:52
  things
• 2:52
  are
• 2:52
  at
• 2:53
  now.
• 2:54
  We're
• 2:54
  seeing
• 2:54
  a
• 2:54
  few
• 2:54
  things
• 2:55
  right
• 2:55
  now.
• 2:55
  We're
• 2:55
  seeing
• 2:56
  made
• 2:56
  in
• 2:57
  America
• 2:57
  products
• 2:57
  out
• 2:58
  there
• 2:58
  that
• 2:58
  have
• 2:58
  been
• 2:58
  competing
• 2:59
  with
• 2:59
  overseas
• 2:59
  products.
• 3:01
  A
• 3:01
  lot
• 3:01
  of
• 3:01
  companies
• 3:02
  getting
• 3:02
  their
• 3:02
  orders
• 3:03
  in
• 3:03
  early
• 3:03
  to
• 3:03
  make
• 3:03
  sure
• 3:04
  that
• 3:04
  they
• 3:04
  have
• 3:04
  their
• 3:05
  shelves
• 3:05
  stocked
• 3:06
  full
• 3:06
  in
• 3:07
  case
• 3:07
  we
• 3:07
  have
• 3:07
  product
• 3:08
  shortages,
• 3:08
  which
• 3:09
  unless
• 3:09
  something
• 3:10
  changes
• 3:10
  is
• 3:10
  going
• 3:10
  to
• 3:11
  happen
• 3:11
  here
• 3:11
  in
• 3:11
  probably
• 3:11
  the
• 3:11
  next
• 3:12
  two
• 3:12
  weeks,
• 3:12
  we
• 3:12
  start
• 3:13
  to
• 3:13
  see
• 3:13
  that,
• 3:14
  you
• 3:14
  know,
• 3:14
  we've
• 3:14
  got
• 3:14
  inventory
• 3:15
  in
• 3:15
  the
• 3:15
  US
• 3:16
  We've
• 3:16
  been
• 3:16
  burning
• 3:16
  through
• 3:17
  that.
• 3:17
  Not
• 3:18
  a
• 3:18
  lot's
• 3:18
  been
• 3:18
  coming
• 3:18
  in.
• 3:19
  Not
• 3:19
  a
• 3:19
  lot
• 3:19
  of
• 3:19
  companies
• 3:19
  have
• 3:20
  been
• 3:20
  ordering
• 3:20
  stuff
• 3:21
  from
• 3:21
  China
• 3:22
  because
• 3:22
  they're
• 3:22
  worried
• 3:23
  about
• 3:23
  paying
• 3:23
  those
• 3:23
  tariffs.
• 3:25
  So
• 3:25
  you're
• 3:25
  seeing
• 3:26
  these
• 3:26
  kind
• 3:26
  of
• 3:26
  things.
• 3:27
  Are
• 3:27
  we
• 3:28
  in
• 3:28
  a
• 3:28
  spot
• 3:28
  where
• 3:30
  everyone
• 3:30
  gets
• 3:31
  nervous?
• 3:32
  I
• 3:32
  think
• 3:32
  we
• 3:32
  are.
• 3:33
  I
• 3:33
  think
• 3:33
  we
• 3:34
  are
• 3:34
  seeing
• 3:34
  that
• 3:35
  now.
• 3:35
  Let's
• 3:35
  talk
• 3:35
  about
• 3:36
  H
• 3:36
  Vac.
• 3:36
  H
• 3:37
  Vac
• 3:37
  prices
• 3:38
  have
• 3:38
  gone
• 3:38
  up
• 3:38
  significantly,
• 3:39
  1
• 3:39
  because
• 3:39
  of
• 3:40
  energy
• 3:41
  changes
• 3:41
  they
• 3:41
  made
• 3:42
  for
• 3:42
  2025.
• 3:43
  So
• 3:43
  things
• 3:44
  are
• 3:44
  more
• 3:44
  expensive.
• 3:45
  We've
• 3:45
  changed
• 3:46
  the
• 3:46
  refrigerant.
• 3:48
  So
• 3:48
  a
• 3:48
  lot
• 3:48
  of
• 3:49
  people
• 3:49
  out
• 3:49
  there
• 3:49
  going,
• 3:50
  I
• 3:50
  don't
• 3:50
  know
• 3:50
  if
• 3:50
  I
• 3:50
  need
• 3:50
  to
• 3:50
  spend
• 3:51
  20,
• 3:51
  $25,000
• 3:52
  on
• 3:52
  a
• 3:52
  new
• 3:53
  system,
• 3:54
  can
• 3:54
  I
• 3:54
  fix
• 3:54
  mine
• 3:55
  for
• 3:55
  a
• 3:55
  while?
• 3:56
  So
• 3:56
  right
• 3:56
  now
• 3:57
  would
• 3:57
  be
• 3:57
  a
• 3:57
  great
• 3:57
  time
• 3:58
  as
• 3:58
  a
• 3:58
  homeowner
• 3:58
  to
• 3:58
  take
• 3:59
  a
• 3:59
  look
• 3:59
  and
• 3:59
  see,
• 4:00
  get
• 4:00
  that
• 4:00
  maintenance
• 4:01
  agreement.
• 4:01
  If
• 4:02
  you've
• 4:02
  got
• 4:02
  a
• 4:02
  system
• 4:03
  that's
• 4:03
  five
• 4:03
  years
• 4:04
  or
• 4:04
  older,
• 4:05
  maybe
• 4:05
  getting
• 4:06
  that
• 4:06
  service
• 4:06
  agreement
• 4:06
  would
• 4:06
  be
• 4:07
  smart
• 4:08
  to
• 4:08
  make
• 4:08
  sure
• 4:08
  you've
• 4:09
  got
• 4:09
  things
• 4:09
  dialed
• 4:10
  back
• 4:11
  in
• 4:12
  that
• 4:12
  would
• 4:12
  be
• 4:12
  huge.
• 4:14
  So
• 4:14
  the
• 4:14
  next
• 4:14
  one
• 4:16
  might
• 4:16
  be
• 4:16
  time
• 4:16
  to
• 4:16
  get
• 4:17
  some
• 4:17
  of
• 4:17
  those
• 4:17
  other
• 4:17
  projects
• 4:18
  going.
• 4:18
  If
• 4:18
  contractors
• 4:19
  are
• 4:19
  slow,
• 4:20
  I
• 4:20
  think
• 4:20
  the
• 4:21
  people
• 4:21
  that
• 4:21
  have
• 4:21
  money
• 4:22
  are
• 4:22
  doing
• 4:22
  the
• 4:22
  big
• 4:22
  decks,
• 4:23
  the
• 4:23
  big
• 4:24
  fences.
• 4:25
  A
• 4:25
  lot
• 4:25
  of
• 4:25
  people
• 4:25
  are
• 4:25
  tackling
• 4:26
  these
• 4:26
  as
• 4:26
  DIY
• 4:27
  projects
• 4:27
  that
• 4:27
  might
• 4:28
  have
• 4:28
  hired
• 4:28
  that
• 4:28
  out
• 4:28
  a
• 4:28
  couple
• 4:29
  years
• 4:29
  ago.
• 4:30
  So
• 4:30
  we'll
• 4:30
  have
• 4:30
  to
• 4:30
  see
• 4:31
  how
• 4:31
  that
• 4:31
  plays
• 4:31
  out.
• 4:32
  But
• 4:32
  keep
• 4:32
  an
• 4:32
  eye
• 4:33
  on
• 4:33
  this.
• 4:34
  This
• 4:34
  could
• 4:34
  be
• 4:35
  something
• 4:35
  that
• 4:35
  really
• 4:36
  hurts.
• 4:37
  New
• 4:37
  home
• 4:37
  construction,
• 4:38
  remodeling.
• 4:40
  And
• 4:40
  this
• 4:40
  might
• 4:40
  be
• 4:40
  that
• 4:41
  time
• 4:41
  where
• 4:42
  about
• 4:42
  every
• 4:42
  decade
• 4:42
  we
• 4:43
  get
• 4:43
  people
• 4:43
  that
• 4:43
  come
• 4:44
  through
• 4:44
  and
• 4:45
  kitchen
• 4:45
  and
• 4:45
  bathrooms
• 4:46
  get
• 4:46
  lost,
• 4:47
  Cabinet
• 4:47
  companies
• 4:48
  get
• 4:48
  lost.
• 4:49
  The
• 4:49
  manufacturers
• 4:50
  of
• 4:51
  products
• 4:51
  that
• 4:51
  were
• 4:52
  building
• 4:52
  stuff
• 4:53
  primarily
• 4:54
  for
• 4:54
  new
• 4:54
  home
• 4:54
  construction.
• 4:56
  That's
• 4:56
  one
• 4:56
  of
• 4:56
  those
• 4:56
  things
• 4:57
  you
• 4:57
  go,
• 4:57
  oh,
• 4:58
  speaking
• 4:59
  of
• 4:59
  new
• 4:59
  home
• 4:59
  construction,
• 5:00
  a
• 5:00
  little
• 5:00
  update
• 5:01
  on
• 5:01
  something
• 5:01
  I
• 5:01
  talked
• 5:01
  about
• 5:02
  a
• 5:02
  few
• 5:02
  weeks
• 5:02
  ago.
• 5:03
  Builder
• 5:03
  putting
• 5:04
  a
• 5:04
  house
• 5:04
  down
• 5:04
  the
• 5:04
  street
• 5:05
  here.
• 5:05
  We
• 5:06
  talked
• 5:06
  about
• 5:06
  it,
• 5:06
  I
• 5:06
  think,
• 5:06
  a
• 5:06
  couple
• 5:07
  weeks
• 5:07
  ago,
• 5:07
  where
• 5:07
  we
• 5:07
  had
• 5:08
  Tyvek
• 5:08
  on
• 5:08
  the
• 5:08
  house
• 5:09
  wrap
• 5:10
  not
• 5:10
  being
• 5:10
  put
• 5:10
  on.
• 5:12
  Following
• 5:12
  their
• 5:12
  best
• 5:13
  practices.
• 5:14
  No
• 5:14
  flexible
• 5:15
  flashing
• 5:15
  down
• 5:15
  before
• 5:16
  the
• 5:16
  window.
• 5:16
  They
• 5:16
  put
• 5:16
  the
• 5:16
  flexible
• 5:17
  flashing
• 5:17
  over
• 5:18
  the.
• 5:18
  Over
• 5:19
  the
• 5:19
  trim
• 5:19
  on
• 5:20
  the
• 5:20
  window.
• 5:20
  Basically
• 5:21
  the
• 5:21
  nailing
• 5:21
  flange
• 5:22
  that's
• 5:23
  only
• 5:23
  sticking
• 5:23
  to
• 5:23
  the
• 5:24
  Tyvek,
• 5:24
  which
• 5:24
  is
• 5:24
  a
• 5:24
  problem
• 5:25
  because
• 5:25
  once
• 5:25
  water
• 5:26
  gets
• 5:26
  behind
• 5:26
  the
• 5:26
  Tyvek,
• 5:27
  you
• 5:27
  have
• 5:27
  a
• 5:28
  freeway
• 5:28
  going
• 5:28
  right
• 5:28
  into
• 5:29
  the
• 5:29
  structure.
• 5:29
  So
• 5:29
  that's
• 5:29
  a
• 5:30
  really
• 5:30
  bad
• 5:30
  idea.
• 5:32
  Now
• 5:33
  I
• 5:33
  think
• 5:33
  they're
• 5:33
  putting
• 5:34
  up
• 5:34
  some
• 5:34
  kind
• 5:34
  of
• 5:34
  a
• 5:34
  rain
• 5:35
  screen.
• 5:35
  So
• 5:35
  they
• 5:35
  have
• 5:35
  the
• 5:36
  Tyvek
• 5:36
  wrapped
• 5:36
  around
• 5:37
  and
• 5:37
  taped
• 5:37
  off.
• 5:38
  And
• 5:38
  now
• 5:38
  what
• 5:39
  they're
• 5:39
  doing
• 5:39
  is
• 5:39
  they're
• 5:39
  putting
• 5:40
  battens
• 5:40
  up
• 5:40
  on
• 5:40
  the
• 5:40
  wall
• 5:41
  to
• 5:41
  create
• 5:41
  what
• 5:41
  looks
• 5:42
  like
• 5:42
  a
• 5:42
  rain
• 5:42
  screen
• 5:42
  effect,
• 5:44
  except
• 5:44
  there's
• 5:44
  just
• 5:45
  Tyvek
• 5:45
  there,
• 5:46
  so
• 5:46
  I
• 5:47
  won't
• 5:47
  call
• 5:47
  that
• 5:47
  the
• 5:47
  waterproof
• 5:48
  membrane.
• 5:48
  I
• 5:48
  have
• 5:48
  torn
• 5:49
  so
• 5:49
  many
• 5:49
  walls
• 5:50
  off
• 5:50
  where
• 5:50
  the
• 5:51
  Tyvek
• 5:51
  has
• 5:51
  degraded
• 5:53
  so
• 5:53
  what
• 5:53
  they're
• 5:54
  doing
• 5:54
  is
• 5:54
  they're
• 5:54
  putting
• 5:54
  siding
• 5:55
  up,
• 5:55
  they
• 5:55
  put
• 5:55
  battens
• 5:56
  up.
• 5:56
  So,
• 5:57
  you
• 5:57
  know,
• 5:57
  one
• 5:57
  by
• 5:58
  fours
• 5:58
  up.
• 5:59
  The
• 5:59
  problem
• 5:59
  is
• 5:59
  when
• 6:00
  they
• 6:00
  nail
• 6:00
  those
• 6:00
  one
• 6:00
  by
• 6:00
  fours
• 6:01
  up,
• 6:01
  there's
• 6:01
  nothing
• 6:02
  sealing
• 6:02
  around
• 6:02
  those
• 6:03
  because
• 6:04
  the
• 6:04
  Tyvek
• 6:04
  is
• 6:05
  just
• 6:05
  like
• 6:05
  paper.
• 6:06
  When
• 6:06
  that
• 6:06
  nail
• 6:06
  goes
• 6:06
  through,
• 6:07
  it
• 6:07
  doesn't
• 6:07
  sit
• 6:07
  there
• 6:08
  and
• 6:09
  create
• 6:09
  that.
• 6:10
  Now
• 6:10
  create
• 6:11
  that
• 6:11
  seal
• 6:11
  around
• 6:12
  the
• 6:12
  nail.
• 6:13
  So
• 6:13
  if
• 6:13
  water
• 6:13
  gets
• 6:14
  behind
• 6:14
  this,
• 6:15
  which
• 6:15
  it
• 6:15
  will
• 6:15
  in
• 6:16
  my
• 6:16
  climate,
• 6:17
  that
• 6:17
  siding
• 6:18
  is
• 6:18
  going
• 6:18
  to
• 6:18
  rot
• 6:19
  from
• 6:19
  the
• 6:19
  OSB
• 6:20
  out,
• 6:21
  from
• 6:21
  the
• 6:21
  sheathing
• 6:22
  out.
• 6:23
  It's
• 6:23
  gonna
• 6:23
  be
• 6:24
  a
• 6:24
  problem.
• 6:25
  So
• 6:26
  I
• 6:26
  hate
• 6:26
  seeing
• 6:26
  that
• 6:27
  with
• 6:27
  people
• 6:27
  buying
• 6:27
  brand
• 6:28
  new
• 6:28
  homes
• 6:29
  and
• 6:29
  seeing
• 6:30
  that
• 6:31
  less
• 6:31
  than
• 6:32
  optimal
• 6:32
  construction
• 6:33
  technique.
• 6:34
  This
• 6:34
  sighting
• 6:35
  company
• 6:35
  to
• 6:35
  me
• 6:35
  is
• 6:36
  taking
• 6:36
  the
• 6:36
  cheap
• 6:36
  way
• 6:36
  out
• 6:37
  and
• 6:37
  that's
• 6:37
  a
• 6:37
  huge
• 6:37
  issue.
• 6:38
  I'll
• 6:39
  get
• 6:39
  some
• 6:39
  pictures
• 6:39
  up
• 6:39
  here
• 6:40
  on
• 6:40
  social
• 6:40
  media
• 6:41
  and
• 6:42
  show
• 6:42
  you
• 6:42
  what
• 6:42
  I'm
• 6:42
  talking
• 6:43
  about.
• 6:43
  But
• 6:43
  I'm
• 6:44
  just
• 6:44
  disappointed
• 6:44
  seeing
• 6:45
  companies
• 6:45
  build
• 6:45
  stuff
• 6:46
  that
• 6:46
  way.
• 6:46
  It's
• 6:46
  absolutely,
• 6:47
  incredibly
• 6:48
  wrong
• 6:49
  to
• 6:50
  do
• 6:50
  that
• 6:50
  level
• 6:50
  of
• 6:50
  house
• 6:52
  and
• 6:52
  to
• 6:52
  take
• 6:52
  that
• 6:52
  level
• 6:53
  of
• 6:53
  shortcut.
• 6:54
  There
• 6:54
  should
• 6:54
  be
• 6:55
  a
• 6:55
  waterproof
• 6:55
  barrier
• 6:56
  there,
• 6:56
  there
• 6:57
  should
• 6:57
  be
• 6:57
  a
• 6:57
  rain
• 6:57
  screen.
• 6:58
  Siding
• 6:59
  should
• 6:59
  go
• 6:59
  up
• 6:59
  over
• 7:00
  the
• 7:00
  top
• 7:00
  of
• 7:00
  that
• 7:00
  so
• 7:00
  water
• 7:00
  gets
• 7:01
  behind
• 7:01
  it,
• 7:01
  gives
• 7:01
  it
• 7:02
  a
• 7:02
  place
• 7:02
  for
• 7:02
  the
• 7:02
  water
• 7:03
  to
• 7:03
  go
• 7:03
  out.
• 7:04
  The
• 7:04
  other
• 7:04
  thing
• 7:04
  is
• 7:05
  when
• 7:05
  you
• 7:05
  have
• 7:05
  that
• 7:05
  huge
• 7:06
  wide
• 7:06
  space
• 7:06
  in
• 7:06
  between
• 7:07
  there,
• 7:07
  without
• 7:07
  the
• 7:07
  rain
• 7:08
  screen,
• 7:09
  you've
• 7:09
  got
• 7:09
  a
• 7:09
  better
• 7:10
  place
• 7:10
  for
• 7:10
  rodents,
• 7:11
  pests
• 7:11
  to
• 7:11
  hide
• 7:11
  behind
• 7:12
  it
• 7:12
  because
• 7:12
  you've
• 7:12
  got
• 7:12
  a
• 7:13
  three
• 7:13
  quarter
• 7:13
  inch
• 7:14
  gap
• 7:14
  behind
• 7:14
  it.
• 7:15
  And
• 7:16
  boy,
• 7:17
  wasps,
• 7:17
  hornets,
• 7:18
  yellow
• 7:18
  jackets,
• 7:19
  spiders,
• 7:20
  bugs
• 7:21
  love
• 7:21
  to
• 7:21
  get
• 7:21
  up
• 7:22
  in
• 7:22
  there.
• 7:23
  At
• 7:23
  least
• 7:23
  that
• 7:23
  rain
• 7:24
  screen
• 7:25
  material
• 7:26
  keeps
• 7:26
  that
• 7:26
  from
• 7:26
  being
• 7:27
  optimal
• 7:27
  for
• 7:27
  them.
• 7:28
  Now
• 7:29
  they
• 7:29
  could
• 7:29
  get
• 7:29
  up
• 7:29
  in
• 7:29
  there,
• 7:30
  but
• 7:30
  it's
• 7:30
  a
• 7:30
  lot
• 7:30
  harder.
• 7:31
  It's
• 7:31
  a
• 7:31
  lot
• 7:31
  harder.
• 7:32
  The
• 7:33
  other
• 7:33
  one
• 7:33
  I
• 7:33
  wanted
• 7:33
  to
• 7:33
  talk
• 7:34
  about
• 7:34
  today
• 7:34
  here
• 7:35
  is
• 7:35
  home
• 7:35
  technology
• 7:37
  and
• 7:37
  we've
• 7:37
  been
• 7:37
  seeing
• 7:38
  some
• 7:38
  people
• 7:38
  online
• 7:38
  complaining
• 7:39
  about
• 7:39
  their
• 7:40
  home
• 7:40
  tech
• 7:41
  not
• 7:41
  getting
• 7:42
  serviced.
• 7:42
  And
• 7:42
  I
• 7:42
  wanted
• 7:43
  to
• 7:43
  talk
• 7:43
  about
• 7:43
  this
• 7:43
  for
• 7:43
  a
• 7:43
  minute.
• 7:44
  With
• 7:44
  home
• 7:44
  tech,
• 7:45
  if
• 7:45
  you're
• 7:45
  a
• 7:46
  DIYer,
• 7:47
  if
• 7:47
  you're
• 7:47
  a
• 7:47
  contractor,
• 7:49
  anytime
• 7:50
  we
• 7:50
  install
• 7:50
  home
• 7:51
  tech
• 7:51
  that
• 7:51
  is
• 7:51
  a
• 7:51
  third
• 7:52
  party.
• 7:53
  And
• 7:53
  I'm
• 7:53
  not
• 7:53
  talking
• 7:54
  about
• 7:54
  putting
• 7:54
  in
• 7:54
  like
• 7:54
  a
• 7:55
  carrier
• 7:55
  H
• 7:55
  vac
• 7:56
  system,
• 7:56
  then
• 7:56
  their
• 7:57
  smart
• 7:57
  thermostat
• 7:58
  that
• 7:59
  comes
• 7:59
  with
• 7:59
  the
• 7:59
  system
• 8:00
  gets
• 8:00
  installed.
• 8:01
  I'm
• 8:01
  talking
• 8:01
  about
• 8:01
  your
• 8:02
  nest
• 8:03
  thermostat,
• 8:03
  your
• 8:04
  ring
• 8:04
  doorbell,
• 8:05
  all
• 8:05
  of
• 8:05
  those
• 8:05
  more
• 8:05
  retail
• 8:06
  facing
• 8:07
  products.
• 8:08
  There's
• 8:09
  a
• 8:09
  time
• 8:10
  that
• 8:11
  technology,
• 8:11
  just
• 8:12
  like
• 8:12
  the
• 8:12
  phones
• 8:12
  we
• 8:13
  carry
• 8:13
  in
• 8:13
  our
• 8:13
  hand,
• 8:14
  there
• 8:14
  is
• 8:15
  a
• 8:15
  time
• 8:15
  when
• 8:15
  you
• 8:15
  get
• 8:15
  into
• 8:16
  the
• 8:16
  smart
• 8:16
  home
• 8:16
  space,
• 8:17
  especially
• 8:18
  with
• 8:18
  thermostats
• 8:19
  and
• 8:19
  things
• 8:19
  like
• 8:19
  that
• 8:20
  or
• 8:20
  doorbells,
• 8:21
  where
• 8:23
  three,
• 8:23
  four,
• 8:24
  five,
• 8:24
  seven
• 8:24
  years
• 8:25
  down
• 8:25
  the
• 8:25
  road,
• 8:26
  it
• 8:26
  is
• 8:27
  way
• 8:27
  outdated
• 8:28
  and
• 8:29
  you
• 8:29
  start
• 8:29
  to
• 8:29
  see
• 8:29
  things
• 8:30
  not
• 8:30
  work
• 8:30
  correctly.
• 8:32
  So
• 8:32
  these
• 8:32
  are
• 8:33
  not
• 8:33
  like
• 8:33
  your
• 8:33
  old
• 8:34
  thermostat
• 8:34
  you
• 8:34
  put
• 8:34
  in.
• 8:35
  That
• 8:36
  was
• 8:36
  dumb.
• 8:36
  And
• 8:36
  you
• 8:36
  had
• 8:36
  to
• 8:36
  put
• 8:36
  a
• 8:37
  couple
• 8:37
  double
• 8:37
  AA
• 8:37
  batteries
• 8:38
  on
• 8:38
  it
• 8:38
  and
• 8:38
  it
• 8:39
  kept
• 8:39
  the
• 8:39
  time
• 8:39
  and
• 8:39
  you
• 8:40
  were
• 8:40
  good
• 8:40
  to
• 8:40
  go.
• 8:40
  No,
• 8:41
  when
• 8:41
  we're
• 8:42
  talking
• 8:42
  about
• 8:42
  these
• 8:43
  smart
• 8:43
  home
• 8:43
  things,
• 8:44
  there
• 8:44
  is
• 8:44
  a
• 8:44
  time
• 8:44
  you
• 8:44
  have
• 8:45
  to
• 8:45
  replace
• 8:45
  it.
• 8:46
  Like
• 8:46
  my
• 8:46
  girlfriend's
• 8:47
  place
• 8:47
  right
• 8:47
  now,
• 8:48
  she's
• 8:48
  got
• 8:48
  a
• 8:48
  ring
• 8:48
  doorbell,
• 8:49
  it
• 8:50
  works.
• 8:50
  All
• 8:50
  of
• 8:51
  a
• 8:51
  sudden
• 8:51
  it
• 8:51
  stopped
• 8:51
  ringing
• 8:52
  inside.
• 8:53
  Probably
• 8:54
  five
• 8:54
  year
• 8:54
  old
• 8:55
  unit,
• 8:55
  probably
• 8:56
  time
• 8:56
  for
• 8:56
  an
• 8:56
  upgrade,
• 8:57
  maybe
• 8:57
  even
• 8:57
  a
• 8:58
  change
• 8:58
  of
• 8:59
  brand.
• 9:00
  But
• 9:00
  you
• 9:00
  get
• 9:00
  to
• 9:00
  that
• 9:01
  point
• 9:01
  where
• 9:02
  it
• 9:02
  just
• 9:02
  doesn't
• 9:03
  work
• 9:03
  well.
• 9:04
  And
• 9:04
  that's
• 9:04
  where
• 9:05
  technology
• 9:05
  has
• 9:06
  exceeded
• 9:07
  the
• 9:08
  hardware
• 9:08
  that
• 9:08
  you
• 9:08
  put
• 9:08
  on
• 9:09
  the
• 9:09
  wall.
• 9:10
  And
• 9:10
  at
• 9:10
  some
• 9:11
  point
• 9:11
  these
• 9:12
  companies
• 9:12
  say
• 9:12
  that's
• 9:13
  obsolete.
• 9:13
  We
• 9:13
  are
• 9:14
  no
• 9:14
  longer
• 9:14
  servicing
• 9:15
  that
• 9:15
  model.
• 9:16
  So
• 9:16
  take
• 9:16
  a
• 9:17
  look
• 9:17
  online
• 9:17
  and
• 9:17
  see
• 9:17
  what
• 9:18
  model
• 9:18
  you
• 9:18
  have.
• 9:19
  Take
• 9:19
  a
• 9:20
  look
• 9:20
  and
• 9:20
  see
• 9:20
  what
• 9:20
  the
• 9:21
  new
• 9:21
  model
• 9:21
  is.
• 9:22
  It
• 9:22
  might
• 9:23
  be
• 9:23
  time
• 9:23
  to
• 9:23
  upgrade
• 9:24
  that.
• 9:25
  And
• 9:25
  I've
• 9:25
  had
• 9:25
  to
• 9:26
  do
• 9:26
  that
• 9:26
  throughout
• 9:26
  my
• 9:26
  home.
• 9:27
  I
• 9:27
  see
• 9:27
  stuff
• 9:27
  where
• 9:27
  I'm
• 9:28
  like,
• 9:28
  ooh,
• 9:28
  this
• 9:28
  isn't
• 9:28
  working.
• 9:29
  Or
• 9:29
  even
• 9:29
  worse,
• 9:30
  the
• 9:30
  company
• 9:31
  that
• 9:31
  I
• 9:31
  was
• 9:31
  testing
• 9:32
  out,
• 9:33
  it
• 9:33
  quit
• 9:33
  working.
• 9:35
  They
• 9:35
  went
• 9:35
  out
• 9:35
  of
• 9:35
  business.
• 9:36
  Their
• 9:36
  servers
• 9:37
  are
• 9:37
  down,
• 9:38
  it's
• 9:38
  gone.
• 9:39
  So
• 9:40
  now
• 9:40
  I
• 9:40
  have
• 9:40
  switches
• 9:41
  or
• 9:41
  something
• 9:41
  else
• 9:42
  that
• 9:42
  doesn't
• 9:42
  work.
• 9:43
  So
• 9:44
  keep
• 9:44
  an
• 9:44
  eye
• 9:44
  out
• 9:44
  on
• 9:44
  that.
• 9:44
  When
• 9:45
  you
• 9:45
  have
• 9:45
  something
• 9:45
  that
• 9:45
  is
• 9:46
  starting
• 9:46
  to
• 9:46
  act
• 9:46
  up,
• 9:47
  it
• 9:47
  might
• 9:48
  be
• 9:48
  time
• 9:49
  to
• 9:49
  upgrade
• 9:50
  that
• 9:50
  piece
• 9:50
  of
• 9:50
  hardware.
• 9:52
  So
• 9:52
  you're
• 9:52
  good
• 9:52
  to
• 9:52
  go.
• 9:53
  So
• 9:54
  think
• 9:54
  about
• 9:54
  those
• 9:55
  things.
• 9:55
  Take
• 9:55
  a
• 9:56
  look.
• 9:56
  If
• 9:57
  you're
• 9:57
  thinking
• 9:57
  about
• 9:57
  upgrading
• 9:58
  to
• 9:58
  that
• 9:58
  new
• 9:59
  system
• 9:59
  for
• 10:00
  maybe
• 10:00
  it's
• 10:00
  a
• 10:00
  new
• 10:00
  smart
• 10:01
  thermostat.
• 10:02
  Be
• 10:02
  careful
• 10:03
  of
• 10:03
  one
• 10:03
  thing
• 10:03
  out
• 10:03
  there.
• 10:04
  Many
• 10:04
  public
• 10:04
  utilities
• 10:05
  or
• 10:05
  utilities
• 10:06
  are
• 10:06
  giving
• 10:06
  away
• 10:07
  smart
• 10:08
  thermostats
• 10:10
  for
• 10:10
  your
• 10:10
  home.
• 10:11
  Just
• 10:11
  make
• 10:11
  sure
• 10:12
  you're
• 10:12
  not
• 10:12
  trading
• 10:13
  your
• 10:13
  ability
• 10:14
  to
• 10:14
  control
• 10:15
  it.
• 10:16
  Some
• 10:16
  of
• 10:16
  these
• 10:17
  are
• 10:17
  handing
• 10:17
  them
• 10:18
  out
• 10:18
  going,
• 10:18
  hey,
• 10:18
  Here's
• 10:18
  a
• 10:19
  brand
• 10:19
  new
• 10:19
  50
• 10:19
  or
• 10:19
  $75
• 10:21
  value
• 10:21
  or
• 10:21
  even
• 10:22
  $150
• 10:23
  value
• 10:23
  smart
• 10:23
  thermostat.
• 10:25
  You
• 10:25
  might
• 10:25
  want
• 10:25
  to
• 10:25
  read
• 10:25
  the
• 10:25
  fine
• 10:26
  print
• 10:26
  and
• 10:26
  make
• 10:26
  sure
• 10:26
  that
• 10:27
  you're
• 10:27
  not
• 10:27
  giving
• 10:27
  them
• 10:27
  the
• 10:28
  ability
• 10:28
  on
• 10:29
  high
• 10:29
  load
• 10:29
  days
• 10:30
  to
• 10:30
  turn
• 10:30
  off
• 10:30
  your
• 10:30
  AC
• 10:31
  or
• 10:32
  turn
• 10:32
  off
• 10:32
  your
• 10:32
  electric
• 10:33
  heat
• 10:33
  or
• 10:34
  at
• 10:34
  least
• 10:34
  delay
• 10:34
  it
• 10:34
  a
• 10:34
  little
• 10:35
  bit
• 10:35
  or
• 10:35
  change
• 10:35
  the
• 10:36
  temperature.
• 10:37
  Get
• 10:37
  the
• 10:37
  fine
• 10:37
  print
• 10:38
  on
• 10:38
  that
• 10:38
  one
• 10:38
  to
• 10:38
  make
• 10:38
  sure
• 10:39
  you
• 10:39
  are
• 10:39
  good
• 10:40
  before
• 10:41
  you
• 10:41
  sign
• 10:41
  up
• 10:42
  for
• 10:42
  quote
• 10:42
  unquote,
• 10:43
  reduced
• 10:43
  price
• 10:43
  or
• 10:44
  free.
• 10:45
  Many
• 10:45
  times
• 10:45
  it's
• 10:46
  a
• 10:46
  good
• 10:46
  deal.
• 10:47
  Just
• 10:47
  understand
• 10:48
  what
• 10:48
  the
• 10:48
  rules
• 10:49
  are
• 10:49
  so
• 10:50
  you're
• 10:50
  not
• 10:50
  putting
• 10:50
  yourself
• 10:50
  in
• 10:50
  a
• 10:51
  position
• 10:51
  under
• 10:51
  wondering,
• 10:52
  wow,
• 10:53
  why
• 10:53
  didn't
• 10:53
  I
• 10:53
  read
• 10:53
  that?
• 10:54
  It
• 10:54
  was
• 10:54
  probably
• 10:54
  there.
• 10:55
  Then
• 10:55
  you'll
• 10:56
  feel
• 10:56
  way
• 10:56
  better
• 10:57
  off
• 10:57
  knowing
• 10:57
  what
• 10:57
  the
• 10:57
  rules
• 10:58
  are
• 10:58
  before
• 10:58
  you
• 10:58
  get
• 10:59
  that
• 11:00
  free
• 11:00
  thing.
• 11:00
  They're
• 11:00
  using
• 11:01
  free
• 11:01
  for
• 11:01
  some
• 11:01
  reason
• 11:02
  or
• 11:02
  reduced
• 11:03
  price
• 11:03
  for
• 11:03
  some
• 11:04
  reason.
• 11:05
  Usually
• 11:05
  it's
• 11:05
  so
• 11:06
  they
• 11:06
  can
• 11:06
  control
• 11:07
  and
• 11:07
  better
• 11:08
  manage
• 11:08
  their
• 11:08
  power
• 11:09
  grid
• 11:09
  by
• 11:09
  controlling
• 11:10
  the
• 11:10

• 11:10

• 11:10

• 11:11
  Nothing
• 11:12
  wrong
• 11:12
  with
• 11:12
  that.
• 11:13
  Just
• 11:13
  understand
• 11:14
  it
• 11:14
  before
• 11:14
  you
• 11:14
  go
• 11:15
  in.
• 11:15
  All
• 11:16
  right
• 11:16
  everybody,
• 11:16
  we
