- 0:27Hey everybody good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So I want to talk to you about non negotiables.
- 0:34Today we all have our our list in our head that we think are
- 0:39our non negotiables, things that we will never compromise on.
- 0:43But it's interesting because but like most human beings, we think
- 0:48we have a list of things that are absolutely without question
- 0:51non negotiables. But when certain situations
- 0:54arrive, they become very negotiable and often just
- 0:59overridden by the actions that you take.
- 1:02And nothing is more important than understanding what are my
- 1:06non negotiables so that you know where you just, you know will
- 1:10not let it happen. So for me, I am very, very
- 1:13willing to work really hard Monday through Thursday.
- 1:17Like I can't even begin to tell you I will work 6:00 AM to 7:00
- 1:21PM without question back-to-back.
- 1:24Have no issues with it because I am prepared and I have said that
- 1:29is my frame of work. I can do sessions back-to-back,
- 1:33I can do trainings back-to-back, whatever I need to do during
- 1:36those time frames. That's it.
- 1:38Now my non negotiables are my weekends.
- 1:41I will not coach on the weekends.
- 1:43It's just non negotiable. For me, the time is to be with
- 1:46my family in the evenings. I'm done at 7:00 so that I can
- 1:50be with my families. My non negotiable is that time
- 1:53with my family and I make sure that I have my times when I take
- 1:58the weeks off that just work. So in my world, since I'm, you
- 2:03know, the captain of my own schedule, I will always take off
- 2:07weeks that have months that have a fifth week.
- 2:09I always take that fifth week off for multiple reasons, but it
- 2:13also forces me to make sure that I say this is a vacation week
- 2:17and that's a non negotiable. Otherwise it just won't happen.
- 2:21There are certain things that you know, I think the boundaries
- 2:26of where you spend time with your family and what that means
- 2:29to them is super important to have lined up.
- 2:32And if you don't put it there then you will find that you are
- 2:35negotiating into things and it's slipping and before you know it,
- 2:39you are working weekends, you are taking calls and it just
- 2:44doesn't work. You know, another non negotiable
- 2:47is not having my phone in the bedroom at night.
- 2:51Oh, I know that's a tough one as you guys hear that.
- 2:53That's a non negotiable for me because the phone is associated
- 2:56to work, the phone is associated to things that are required for
- 3:02my work and my bedroom is not. So I don't want to have it there
- 3:08with me. I don't want to have it put into
- 3:10a position where it has a hook on me.
- 3:13So thinking about this, you have to ask yourself, well where are
- 3:17my things that are non negotiable?
- 3:20It's kind of like also my eggs for my chickens in here.
- 3:23So my chickens are just, you know, part of something that is
- 3:28our family and I I do not sell my eggs at all.
- 3:32I give them away to people. They are for the greater good
- 3:35and gratitude of everybody that you know is in our lives.
- 3:40My UPS man, my mailman, my FedEx guy, you name it.
- 3:46If they come to the house regularly, they get eggs and I
- 3:50give them to my neighbors and whatnot.
- 3:52It's a non negotiable for me. It's just the way to give back
- 3:55to the world. So when you start to ask
- 3:58yourself where are your non negotiables, where are your
- 4:00boundaries? Where are the things that you
- 4:02know. This is something that you want
- 4:05to stand for and or a boundary that you have to have for
- 4:08yourself. You have to decide what those
- 4:11are and nobody else can because you won't stick to them
- 4:14otherwise. And the worst part of it is when
- 4:16you find that you are breaking your your own, you know, ideals
- 4:20and your own boundaries, you feel like crap, quite honestly.
- 4:23And that doesn't feel good. But guess what?
- 4:27You actually feel really good when you stick to it.
- 4:30When I say no and I tell somebody and I'm sorry, that's
- 4:33not going to work because that's into my family time, I actually
- 4:36feel really good about it because I said something and I'm
- 4:38sticking to it. And for me that just feels like
- 4:41I'm in absolute synchronicity and integrity with myself and
- 4:46the identity that I want to have for myself.
- 4:49So think about your non negotiables more in line with
- 4:53your identity than anything else.
- 4:55Because if you do it that way then you're going to most likely
- 4:58be able to stick with it. You'll be able to be more
- 5:01congruent and stick with it if you think of it that way.
- 5:04If you don't think of it that way, then you have more of a
- 5:08chance of negotiating with yourself.
- 5:11And So what was a non negotiable in the beginning becomes very
- 5:15negotiable and you don't want to have that happen because that
- 5:18just gives up again a little piece of your identity.
- 5:21So really look at this for yourself as we get ready to wrap
- 5:25up this quarter and you're saying OK, well now you know 90
- 5:30days of the year is going to have gone by soon.
- 5:32I would really love to know, you know, what I want to do with the
- 5:36next part of it and what will be my non negotiables, What will I
- 5:40stick to? What are those things that
- 5:42matter to me more than anything and that I won't compromise on?
- 5:46All right my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I will
- 5:49see you all tomorrow morning. Bye.
