- 0:01Kathie: Whenever I sign my book, I write,"let us remember we are not our circumstances." And what does that mean?
- 0:10Kathie: And what's my system for dealing with that?
- 0:13Kathie: That's what we're going to talk about today.
- 0:17Kathie: You're listening to Kathie's Coaching Podcast.
- 0:21Kathie: Today, we're talking about a system that I have to overcome victim mentality.
- 0:28Kathie: And it's kind of powerful, I'd say.
- 0:31Kathie: And actually it's how I coach all of my clients across the board, because it's simple, it's easy, and it's how we overcome struggles, which are going to happen.
- 0:45Kathie: It's not if, but when.
- 0:47Kathie: So, you could easily say, I have been through so many struggles.
- 0:52Kathie: I went through a 14 year custody battle.
- 0:55Kathie: I was married to a narcissist, divorced, and he married a narcissist in return.
- 1:02Kathie: And no judgment there.
- 1:04Kathie: It is what it is.
- 1:06Kathie: And I can't...
- 1:08Kathie: say that I'm judging him because actually we all possess narcissistic tendencies.
- 1:15Kathie: And this episode, this podcast is not about narcissism.
- 1:21Kathie: It's about mindset.
- 1:23Kathie: I talk about mindset, habits, fitness, and reality creation.
- 1:30Kathie: Definitely more than I talk about victim mentality.
- 1:33Kathie: Why?
- 1:34Kathie: Because I learned a very long time ago that victim mentality does not serve you.
- 1:40Kathie: In fact, if you get stuck in victim mentality, what happens is you become a victimizer and there's a victim.
- 1:49Kathie: And think about it.
- 1:51Kathie: Have you ever watched an argument where you see two people getting into an argument about something, and someone's a victim, and they're being yelled at, and then they yell back at the other person, so they become the victimizer, and it's an endless cycle.
- 2:07Kathie: The only way out?
- 2:08Kathie: is to become a victor, or some people would call it become the better person.
- 2:14Kathie: And again, this episode and this podcast is not about victim mentality.
- 2:21Kathie: It's about one thing.
- 2:22Kathie: It's about having a growth mindset because that fixed mindset is stuck in victim or victimizer.
- 2:30Kathie: And I have a process that I coach and I'm a fitness trainer.
- 2:34Kathie: I've been a fitness trainer for 20 plus years.
- 2:37Kathie: I've seen countless clients succeed with this process and it's very powerful and very impactful.
- 2:45Kathie: And it comes down to a system that has four P's.
- 2:48Kathie: I'll make it easy for you to understand.
- 2:52Kathie: We start with prioritize, we plan, we practice, then we prosper.
- 2:59Kathie: So, what does that mean, Kathie?
- 3:01Kathie: I'm so glad you asked.
- 3:03Kathie: So, prioritize.
- 3:04Kathie: Whenever I start my coaching process with anybody, including and especially myself, I prioritize what's important.
- 3:13Kathie: I put it into my Google Calendar, from things down to when I'm going to go live on my Instagram channel, when I'm going to record these podcasts.
- 3:23Kathie: Now it's become a habit, but let's say I'm working on a goal, which is all I coach.
- 3:28Kathie: I coach working towards a goal.
- 3:31Kathie: We have to prioritize what's important because what's happened is we've got sucked into bad habits and we want to get out of the bad habit and create a good habit.
- 3:41Kathie: We stack the habits on top of each other, on top of things that we're already doing.
- 3:46Kathie: That's a priority, and that is exactly how you're going to succeed.
- 3:52Kathie: So the next P is plan.
- 3:55Kathie: How are you going to plan this?
- 3:57Kathie: Put it into your Google Calendar, Kathie.
- 3:59Kathie: That's exactly what I do.
- 4:00Kathie: On Sundays, I sit down with my Google Calendar and I plan out my week.
- 4:05Kathie: I mean, uh, sometimes I get down to the funny details about what we're having for lunch at OccuSoft.
- 4:11Kathie: I put that into my calendar because I want to see if I'm going to be eating the meal, or I'm going to eat a salad, or I'm going to eat somewhere else.
- 4:19Kathie: I know, that's kind of weird, but that meal, my lunch, is usually my biggest meal of the day.
- 4:25Kathie: And I prioritize my eating habits over whatever else is going on in my world because that's important.
- 4:33Kathie: That's a fitness thing.
- 4:34Kathie: That's a mindset thing.
- 4:36Kathie: So that's a planning thing.
- 4:39Kathie: And then I talk about practice.
- 4:42Kathie: Practice, practice, practice.
- 4:44Kathie: You have to practice planning.
- 4:45Kathie: You have to practice your workouts.
- 4:47Kathie: You have to practice what you're doing at work and where your priorities are.
- 4:52Kathie: It's all about practice.
- 4:54Kathie: Remember, let's go back to something important.
- 4:57Kathie: I coach sports psychology because sports intrigues me, because sports people get into the flow.
- 5:05Kathie: Oh, speaking of flow, that is the zone.
- 5:09Kathie: And here's the thing, when you prioritize flow...
- 5:12Kathie: Oh, let's go back to the first P.
- 5:14Kathie: Prioritize.
- 5:15Kathie: When you prioritize flow, things just come easy.
- 5:20Kathie: They come easy.
- 5:21Kathie: So...
- 5:23Kathie: One thing that I find very, very impactful in life and during times of stress is gratitude.
- 5:32Kathie: Gratitude will shift your mindset in an instant.
- 5:37Kathie: In an instant.
- 5:38Kathie: For example, I spent many, many Christmases alone, uh, probably about eight or nine until I met my boyfriend and his family.
- 5:50Kathie: And then now I don't spend Christmas alone.
- 5:52Kathie: I have a family, but.
- 5:54Kathie: I found a place where I could find gratitude for the moment that I had.
- 6:02Kathie: Back in 2007, I started Kathie's Fitness Blog.
- 6:06Kathie: And when I did that was, guess what?
- 6:08Kathie: On Christmas day.
- 6:10Kathie: So when Kathie's Fitness Blog hits charges, it gets charged on.
- 6:16Kathie: So, on GoDaddy, it is on Christmas day, and I will never, ever change that because that's a reminder to me, hey Kathie, look what you did.
- 6:27Kathie: You changed your life.
- 6:30Kathie: And it wasn't until 2014 that I met my boyfriend, so I went seven years.
- 6:38Kathie: Alone, alone on Christmas and it's, it's a powerful, profound change that I went through and I put gratitude as a priority.
- 6:50Kathie: So I was grateful for the day.
- 6:52Kathie: And guess what?
- 6:53Kathie: Christmas is just another day.
- 6:55Kathie: People put too many attachments on it.
- 6:58Kathie: What you are attached to can get taken away from you.
- 7:01Kathie: In an instant, but when you shift that attitude to gratitude, even for that attachment, yes, I'm attached to the people that I love right now, but I'm grateful for them.
- 7:14Kathie: I'm really attached to my dog, but I'm grateful for the time that I have had with him because I've had.
- 7:21Kathie: 11 years of awesome time with him, and I know he's going to go because your dog doesn't live forever like we do, even though I tell him he has to, but I'm not attached to that.
- 7:35Kathie: I'm grateful for the time I've had, which has been incredible, and I can let go when it comes time to let go.
- 7:43Kathie: So, that is practice and practice is probably the most important in here because it's going to take practice to build a habit that sticks.
- 7:54Kathie: It's just going to take practice, but here's the thing, the final P is prosper because when you do all of the P's.
- 8:04Kathie: before that, then you're going to prosper.
- 8:08Kathie: And then my friend is where the magic happens.
- 8:12Kathie: Synchronicity start to come into place.
- 8:15Kathie: Things start happening out of nowhere.
- 8:18Kathie: You know, I listened to Abraham Hicks and I love how she says it takes 17 seconds of focus to change a thought and change it to something that's going to work for you.
- 8:29Kathie: Instead of against you.
- 8:30Kathie: So let's go back to the beginning where we talked about the victim victimizer cycle.
- 8:35Kathie: Let's get out of victim.
- 8:37Kathie: Let's practice these four P's.
- 8:39Kathie: What are they?
- 8:41Kathie: They are prioritize, plan, practice, and prosper.
- 8:50Kathie: All right.
- 8:50Kathie: So the four Ps are prioritize, plan, practice, and prosper.
- 8:57Kathie: I can't tell you how this changed my life and how it impacted the way I look at things and the way that, you know, those things that happened to me were bad.
- 9:09Kathie: And guess what?
- 9:11Kathie: I'm not my circumstances and neither are you.
- 9:14Kathie: Instead, change that mindset from a fixed mindset that thinks, Oh no, I'm a victim.
- 9:21Kathie: And change that to where you end up prospering.
- 9:26Kathie: Alright, I trust that you found today's episode helpful.
- 9:29Kathie: If you know somebody who can benefit from it, please share it with them.
- 9:33Kathie: And until next time, I will see you next time.
- 9:36Kathie: Peace out and Namaste.
