Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / Emergency ITB: Examining Short, Long Term Impact Of Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Being Out Rest Of Season
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everyone. Welcome to another emergency ITB. I am Jeff Mosher.
- 0:14Speaker 1: That is Adam Kaplan.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And listen, you know, it's that kind of year when
- 0:17Speaker 2: you've recorded your third emergency inside the birds podcast, and
- 0:21Speaker 2: we aren't even halfway through the season yet, but it
- 0:25Speaker 2: is a really dire, uh, obviously Jalen hurts.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Most people have heard the news by now.
- 0:29Speaker 2: He's going to be out for the rest of the year.
- 0:32Speaker 2: There was a joint statement released by his agent, Nicole Lynn,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and the organization that basically said follow up exams have
- 0:40Speaker 2: revealed that not only did he have the blood clot
- 0:42Speaker 2: that moved from the calf, but he has multiple clots
- 0:46Speaker 2: in his lungs. It's the medical term is pulmonary emboli,
- 0:51Speaker 2: which means multiple blood clots. And he is going to
- 0:53Speaker 2: have to undergo be going on blood thinners. And, uh,
- 0:57Speaker 2: as we said in our last emergency podcast, you go
- 0:59Speaker 2: on blood thinners, you're up for a long time and
- 1:01Speaker 2: he will be out for the rest of the year.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And Adam, obviously the.
- 1:04Speaker 2: First thing is you, uh, you know, it's, it's a
- 1:07Speaker 2: treatable condition, but you're always concerned about Jalen Hurts. His
- 1:10Speaker 2: mindset is health and welfare and all that. This is
- 1:13Speaker 2: obviously the right move for, for him to be out
- 1:16Speaker 2: for the rest of the year.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Well, it doesn't say that he's out for the rest
- 1:19Speaker 3: of the year, but I think we could, the You
- 1:24Speaker 3: and I have gone through some issues in our life,
- 1:26Speaker 3: you know, from health. I've been on blood thinners once
- 1:30Speaker 3: six years ago, and I know what that was like
- 1:32Speaker 3: about not having any contact. Couldn't bleed and don't want
- 1:35Speaker 3: to go to the emergency room. And then when you
- 1:36Speaker 3: talk about, I didn't have what Jalen has. Okay. Just
- 1:40Speaker 3: to be clear, when you have both lungs filled with
- 1:43Speaker 3: blood and fluid, you're worried. I know you had a condition,
- 1:48Speaker 3: which I remember when you called me with it, I
- 1:49Speaker 3: was very scared for you. I was very worried.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Thank God that. You were going to be fine, and
- 1:54Speaker 3: you were fine. But let's get back to Jalen here.
- 1:58Speaker 3: When you get the diagnosis further testing last week, which
- 2:04Speaker 3: goes from left calf supravain thrombosis, which still is concerning,
- 2:11Speaker 3: but after the testing and the statement, deep vein thrombosis,
- 2:15Speaker 3: which is a more serious condition, as well as, and
- 2:18Speaker 3: this is what you mentioned, bilateral pulmonary emboli. that is
- 2:23Speaker 3: very scary stuff for, and I know there are medical
- 2:25Speaker 3: people watching, you know, about this stuff. This is, this
- 2:27Speaker 3: is troubling, but I guess the one positive is that
- 2:32Speaker 3: based on, uh, the dual statement that the blood thinner
- 2:36Speaker 3: should take care of this. Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That's treatable. Not non-surgical.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Right. But yeah, it's thank God for, um, his followup.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And obviously you have to anyway, cause you have to,
- 2:48Speaker 3: you have to monitor it and figure out what's going on,
- 2:50Speaker 3: but that's, uh, for our nine years doing this, I
- 2:54Speaker 3: don't know what other serious situations we've dealt with being
- 2:58Speaker 3: the certain idea of doing this show. I just don't
- 3:01Speaker 3: remember anything like this. Maybe even know better. I just
- 3:03Speaker 3: don't remember.
- 3:04Speaker 2: No, no. Um, I think the only thing I can
- 3:07Speaker 2: think of that's closest back in 2008, I think when
- 3:13Speaker 2: Mike Patterson had the seizure at training camp and, um,
- 3:17Speaker 2: He was diagnosed later with something I'd never heard of
- 3:19Speaker 2: called brain AVF, which I don't remember what the AVF,
- 3:24Speaker 2: it's arterial something, arterial, something that was not good with
- 3:29Speaker 2: his brain, but he had to miss a significant amount
- 3:31Speaker 2: of time, but eventually did come back.
- 3:33Speaker 1: That was scarier because he had a seizure in the
- 3:35Speaker 1: middle of training camp. You alluded to my experience.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I talked about it in the last podcast where I
- 3:40Speaker 2: was misdiagnosed with what Dylan Hertz was diagnosed with. which
- 3:44Speaker 2: is a pulmonary embolism in my lung, right? And it
- 3:47Speaker 2: was a misdiagnosis. But the point was before they discovered
- 3:51Speaker 2: that it was a misdiagnosis, when they thought I have one,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I had every specialist under the sun at the hospital
- 3:57Speaker 2: coming to visit me, which is scary. And what I
- 4:00Speaker 2: was told was, and I think this is exactly what
- 4:02Speaker 2: applies to Jalen, is the biggest medical fear when you
- 4:05Speaker 2: have a pulmonary embolism in your lung is that it
- 4:08Speaker 2: can very easily move up into your brain and cause
- 4:11Speaker 2: either a stroke or a cerebral hemorrhage, which is obviously life-threatening.
- 4:15Speaker 2: And so that is why it is so serious. And
- 4:17Speaker 2: that is why he's on a blood thinner, but he
- 4:19Speaker 2: is expected to make, according to the statement, a good
- 4:21Speaker 2: and full recovery while he is out.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I'll say this, Adam, because.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We're not doctors. We'll move on and talk about what
- 4:29Speaker 2: this means. But I want to be very careful in
- 4:31Speaker 2: how I phrase this. I don't believe the Eagles have
- 4:33Speaker 2: ever been nefarious with their players and their health. I
- 4:37Speaker 2: think they always look to make the best decisions for
- 4:39Speaker 2: the players and their health. I think injuries are complicated
- 4:43Speaker 2: because there's that gray area of when a guy is Hurt,
- 4:46Speaker 2: but still says he can play.
- 4:48Speaker 1: For example, Landon Dickerson, Cam Juergens, right?
- 4:51Speaker 2: You, you, you get medical clearance. Doesn't mean you're a
- 4:53Speaker 2: hundred percent. And then it's up to the player to
- 4:56Speaker 2: decide with that feedback. And then the team to decide
- 5:00Speaker 2: if they want to play a guy, but the reporting
- 5:03Speaker 2: that Jalen hurts was not, was told by doctors to
- 5:06Speaker 2: stay awake because if you lay down and if you're stationary,
- 5:10Speaker 2: that thing has a better chance to move. The reporting
- 5:12Speaker 2: that he was awake for 36 hours before he played
- 5:15Speaker 2: in London was is chilling to me and a little scary.
- 5:18Speaker 2: And I think that I put that both on the
- 5:20Speaker 2: organization and Jalen, if he's saying, Hey, I can do
- 5:22Speaker 2: it to, to.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Have cooler heads prevail next time.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Like that might've been more risky than they realized at
- 5:30Speaker 2: the time. And I think it's fair to say you
- 5:32Speaker 2: got to step back sometimes and look at the bigger picture.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah. And I, I know that, um, the thing with
- 5:39Speaker 3: the condition is, uh, SOB means short, shortness of breath
- 5:43Speaker 3: like that. You should always report to your doctor.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Because you're talking about a heart attack, potential heart attack, stroke,
- 5:50Speaker 3: whatever the case may be. And I don't know what
- 5:52Speaker 3: kept Jalen up. We don't know. I mean, we don't
- 5:54Speaker 3: know what he was, you know, how he was feeling.
- 5:57Speaker 3: But the reason why I'm bringing up shortness of breath,
- 6:00Speaker 3: doing a little research on what he's dealing with, that
- 6:03Speaker 3: is a common side effect of dealing with this, a
- 6:07Speaker 3: common symptom, excuse me, of dealing with these conditions. You've
- 6:10Speaker 3: got to be careful, man. Your health is always more
- 6:12Speaker 3: important than sports, man. Yeah. You know, he's, it's, you know,
- 6:17Speaker 3: Cole Lynn, she's also an attorney. I don't know if
- 6:19Speaker 3: she's still practicing. She knows what she, an agent or
- 6:21Speaker 3: she is an agent. She was an attorney at one point.
- 6:24Speaker 3: So she, you know, you know about getting second opinions
- 6:27Speaker 3: and so forth, but yeah, this one's a little, it's
- 6:31Speaker 3: a little strange, say the least that, that he was
- 6:34Speaker 3: allowed to play, but they had better medical information than
- 6:36Speaker 3: we do. So there's what it is. And he, he's
- 6:38Speaker 3: got to tell him how he feels.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 3: He's got, and with the, the initial, diagnosis of superficial
- 6:45Speaker 3: vein thrombosis. That is a clot. Okay. Of some sort. Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 3: But it's superficial and you don't want to let it
- 6:56Speaker 3: go any further. It's kind of sort of wait and see,
- 6:59Speaker 3: you don't want it to turn into anything and who
- 7:02Speaker 3: knows what, what happened over a series of days, but he's.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Going to be okay.
- 7:06Speaker 3: He's going to be okay. Thank goodness. You know, it's
- 7:08Speaker 3: a football is way more, it's way more to the
- 7:12Speaker 3: side to real life. And, you know, I think everybody
- 7:16Speaker 3: kind of learned through this is a pretty serious situation.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Now, the question that we have, the multiple questions we
- 7:23Speaker 2: have is how does this impact the team for both
- 7:26Speaker 2: the short term and the long term? Obviously, the short
- 7:29Speaker 2: term is Tanner McKee is your backup quarterback. He's the
- 7:32Speaker 2: starter now. He's QB1 the rest of the way. I
- 7:34Speaker 2: think you and I both imagined by maybe as early
- 7:37Speaker 2: as Monday night's game against the Cowboys, Joe Milton will
- 7:39Speaker 2: be QB2 with Cole Payton still a developmental project.
- 7:44Speaker 1: We'll see on that. But it is the Tanner McKee show.
- 7:46Speaker 2: And to me, Adam, that opens up a Pandora's box
- 7:49Speaker 2: of questions about what you do with your offense going forward.
- 7:53Speaker 2: The whole idea of this year was to integrate offense.
- 7:55Speaker 2: a new offense with Jalen Hurts being the lead part
- 7:58Speaker 2: of it. Tanner McKee is a free agent at the
- 8:00Speaker 2: end of the year, so he may not have even
- 8:03Speaker 2: factored into long-term plans. So do you change your offense
- 8:07Speaker 2: to better fit Tanner and the other injuries that you
- 8:10Speaker 2: currently have? Do you hope that when you get healthier
- 8:13Speaker 2: up front and Saquon Barkley gets back that you just
- 8:16Speaker 2: run the offense you've been trying to run with a
- 8:18Speaker 2: different trigger man? To me, there's just so many questions,
- 8:21Speaker 2: and so many of them are health-related, and you just
- 8:24Speaker 2: don't know if the Eagles will ever be at full
- 8:27Speaker 2: strength in the other positions as the season goes on.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Yeah, now that you have this information, you knew he
- 8:35Speaker 3: was going to miss a minute of four games anyway. Hurts.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Now that he's out, theoretically, for the season, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 3: you now have, and being this next game is a
- 8:45Speaker 3: week from today, next Monday night, at home against the Cowboys.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Kind of know where you're at. You know what his
- 8:51Speaker 3: strengths are, his limitations are, his weaknesses are. And you
- 8:54Speaker 3: coach around that. Yeah, the scheme is not going to change.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Terminology is not going to change. You're one on West Coast.
- 8:59Speaker 3: But you tailor that playbook, whatever it is, whatever it
- 9:04Speaker 3: looks like, to what he does best. Yep. Now, this
- 9:08Speaker 3: is where Sirianni has been with Tanner McKee, obviously, since
- 9:12Speaker 3: he started. You have an offense coordinator that's new here.
- 9:16Speaker 3: This is his first season. You saw him obviously in OTAs,
- 9:19Speaker 3: training camp, and the preseason. And the quarterback's coach has
- 9:24Speaker 3: been here for a couple seasons. So most of these
- 9:27Speaker 3: guys know him pretty well, and they know what his
- 9:29Speaker 3: strengths are. So you've got to start coaching to it.
- 9:32Speaker 3: We talked about in the postgame, show some of the
- 9:34Speaker 3: mistakes in terms of, okay, what are you doing to
- 9:36Speaker 3: get this guy comfortable and accurate? Well, they couldn't block
- 9:39Speaker 3: early on. They couldn't protect. But he's a drop-back passer.
- 9:42Speaker 3: How are you going to do that? Are you going
- 9:43Speaker 3: to have him under center more? He wasn't under center
- 9:45Speaker 3: very much. When he was, it was terrible. Yep. We've
- 9:48Speaker 3: talked about the predictability of they do the number show
- 9:52Speaker 3: when he's understood when the quarterbacks under center, whether it's
- 9:54Speaker 3: Hertz or McKee, here's what it looks like. Not good. Okay.
- 9:58Speaker 3: The run game is atrocious. I don't know what you're
- 10:02Speaker 3: going to do now until Barkley returns. And quite frankly,
- 10:05Speaker 3: they're still playing three backup offensive linemen.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:09Speaker 3: That's not getting any better. So that's not on the coaches.
- 10:14Speaker 3: It's on the coaches to coach around it and do
- 10:15Speaker 3: a better job. Yes. But they don't control personnel. And
- 10:19Speaker 3: they're in a tough way right now. This is not
- 10:22Speaker 3: what anyone anticipated. No one anticipated Lane Johnson to retire suddenly.
- 10:27Speaker 3: No one anticipated them. And it's their control, though. They
- 10:29Speaker 3: had control over trading Cam Juergens. Yep. Although I think
- 10:32Speaker 3: we all know they got a great value on it
- 10:34Speaker 3: because he's clearly a declining player. Then with Landon Dickerson, okay,
- 10:40Speaker 3: friendly fire gets hurt in practice. He gets hurt. He
- 10:43Speaker 3: bruises his knee. Bone bruise. He bruises his knee. He's
- 10:46Speaker 3: still out. We'll see about that. if he's able to
- 10:49Speaker 3: start taking work with starters. So they've got a problem.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I mean, they've got– they're in a crisis. The only
- 10:55Speaker 3: upside of this thing is the division's terrible. They can
- 10:58Speaker 3: get in by winning the division. No, they're eventually going
- 11:00Speaker 3: to get Barkley back, right? Big B back in the
- 11:02Speaker 3: second half of the season. They've got to force it.
- 11:07Speaker 3: They're past our groups intact. They're there. You can't complain
- 11:12Speaker 3: about that. They're back. Smitty's back. So could McKee– to
- 11:15Speaker 3: move this forward here, could McKee– Play way better. The
- 11:19Speaker 3: coach has got to get this done here with McKee.
- 11:21Speaker 3: He's got to play better.

- 14:36Speaker 1: It's the best way to support the show.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I mean, right now, and I don't know if this
- 14:40Speaker 2: has anything to do with the Hertz news or if
- 14:42Speaker 2: it just was that.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Way to begin with, but the Eagles are already.
- 14:47Speaker 2: underdogs by four and a half points against a bad
- 14:49Speaker 2: Cowboys team on Monday night. I can't imagine they're going
- 14:52Speaker 2: to be favored in too many games going forward.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And I don't know that they should be.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think that we sit here and say the NFC
- 14:59Speaker 2: East stinks, but I have not. I mean, the way
- 15:01Speaker 2: the Eagles have regressed week after week, I'm not sure
- 15:04Speaker 2: that they're any better. or even on the same level
- 15:07Speaker 2: as some of the teams right now. I mean, yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 2: maybe they can be to Washington or New York. These
- 15:12Speaker 2: are not good teams.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Dallas can score points as bad as they are on defense.
- 15:17Speaker 3: They're actually not. I mean, they were horrendous. That's true.
- 15:20Speaker 1: They were horrendous against the Packers. So I don't know.
- 15:22Speaker 2: They're a heckle and Jekyll and Hyde team as well.
- 15:25Speaker 2: But I mean, look at what the Eagles have become.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They cannot move the football against anybody. So you can
- 15:31Speaker 2: only ask their defense to do so much. I think
- 15:34Speaker 2: we will have a really good clue about what their
- 15:37Speaker 2: potential really is over the next few weeks going.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Into the buy week and then the trade deadline is
- 15:45Speaker 1: shortly after.
- 15:46Speaker 2: You would have to think if things continue to go south,
- 15:49Speaker 2: they will be big sellers at the deadline.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yes, it's funny you said that because it's been on
- 15:54Speaker 3: my mind because that's not the way Howie Roseman does business. Right.
- 15:58Speaker 3: But he's also not been in this position very much
- 16:00Speaker 3: in his career. And you got to do what you
- 16:02Speaker 3: got to do. And we'll talk about some of the
- 16:05Speaker 3: names that will draw interest. Two or three of them
- 16:09Speaker 3: in particular will absolutely draw interest because they're on expiring deals.
- 16:13Speaker 3: They're still good football players, but they're not there yet.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Because you still have on defense, Ojomo. We'll see about
- 16:19Speaker 3: Jordan Davis' ankle injury. It didn't look good. Carter. Grenard's
- 16:22Speaker 3: got to get his ankle right, but when he's been
- 16:24Speaker 3: healthy this season, he's played well. Vaughn is a stud.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Woolen has been more good than bad. Mitchell's a stud.
- 16:33Speaker 3: DeGene not having the season that we expect, but he's
- 16:35Speaker 3: a good player. So they've got the pieces to continue
- 16:38Speaker 3: to be competitive on defense. But offensively, how they get
- 16:42Speaker 3: out of their own way is a question that right
- 16:45Speaker 3: now is unanswered. I don't know how they're going to
- 16:47Speaker 3: do that.
- 16:48Speaker 2: I agree. I agree. It's going to be an interesting
- 16:50Speaker 2: next few weeks for the future of the franchise, both
- 16:53Speaker 2: long-term and short-term. And remember, this was even a year
- 16:56Speaker 2: of– I mean, you'll have to wonder how Howie and
- 17:00Speaker 2: Jeffrey– Lurie will evaluate this year and what that means
- 17:04Speaker 2: for evaluating Nick, what it means for evaluating Sean Mannion,
- 17:08Speaker 2: what it means for the quarterback situation and the contract,
- 17:11Speaker 2: because we know Jalen Hurts was, I think out of
- 17:14Speaker 2: his guaranteed money after the, or at least the majority
- 17:16Speaker 2: of it.
- 17:16Speaker 3: After next season, but it drops significantly next season.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Correct.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Not that there's no, there's zero chance they would ever
- 17:23Speaker 3: cut him. Trading is a different story. That's a conversation
- 17:26Speaker 3: for another time.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:27Speaker 3: But the situation now is you make a good point.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Nick has never missed the playoffs, but the one thing
- 17:35Speaker 3: that's going to be damning, knowing the way Jeffrey is,
- 17:38Speaker 3: they have a– he's all about the passing game.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yep.
- 17:43Speaker 3: The regression in the passing game started 23. Okay, 23, horrendous.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Let's put it this way. Wildly inconsistent. It cost Brian
- 17:50Speaker 3: Johnson his job. Yes. 24 was not good.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:54Speaker 3: The running game saved him. Okay, best running game in
- 17:56Speaker 3: NFL history from beginning to end. Yep. 25, horrendous. 26, horrendous.
- 18:01Speaker 3: How long is Jeffrey going to put up with this bleep?
- 18:03Speaker 2: I agree with you. You know, Jeffrey is on record
- 18:05Speaker 2: as saying that 2024, he was fine with because they
- 18:09Speaker 2: were explosive, because he likes explosive offenses.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It wasn't explosive pass. They got explosive run. He was
- 18:14Speaker 1: fine with that. But now you're neither. Now you're neither.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Now forget explosive.
- 18:18Speaker 2: You would just love to get a nice first down
- 18:20Speaker 2: run that gets you four to five freaking yards, right?
- 18:23Speaker 1: I mean, they are the opposite of functional offense. Right now.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And you're right.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Jeffrey Lurie will not have patience for that. But at
- 18:29Speaker 2: the same time, he and Howie and Nick, that was
- 18:31Speaker 2: their decision. It was their decision to go this way
- 18:34Speaker 2: in terms of going with a novice play caller. And
- 18:37Speaker 2: you have to expect sometimes you're going to get bit.
- 18:38Speaker 1: By the injury bug. So that's got to be a
- 18:40Speaker 1: part of it.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And yeah, I think, you know, we'll get a good
- 18:44Speaker 2: read on what's going on with the organizational mind as
- 18:48Speaker 2: these weeks go on right now. You just have to
- 18:49Speaker 2: play it out, see how you do, see if there's improvement,
- 18:52Speaker 2: see if you can win some games and get back,
- 18:54Speaker 2: get healthier, get back on track and.
- 18:56Speaker 1: See what that does. But it feels like you're a
- 18:58Speaker 1: long way from being where you want to be.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Yeah. On the health standpoint, it's not just one side
- 19:04Speaker 3: of the football.
- 19:04Speaker 2: It's both. Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 3: That's the problem. Now your quarterback conceivably most likely is
- 19:10Speaker 3: out for the rest of the season, even if by
- 19:11Speaker 3: miracle to make the playoffs. Okay. Yeah. it's so hard
- 19:15Speaker 3: to imagine that even if they made the playoffs, that
- 19:18Speaker 3: Hurts would be clear to play because of what he's
- 19:20Speaker 3: dealing with. Then you've got Barkley who, I mean, I
- 19:24Speaker 3: know it's a hamstring injury, but you get concerned about it.
- 19:27Speaker 3: He's getting up there. It's getting closer to 30. Bixby
- 19:29Speaker 3: has surgery in the groin area. Yep. Then, oh, Carson Steele,
- 19:37Speaker 3: poor guy, gets hurt. Okay.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Nobody loves grilling more than me. It could be 30
- 19:41Speaker 2: degrees and I'll be out there grilling burgers and steaks.
- 19:45Speaker 2: But the one thing that I really can't stand is
- 19:47Speaker 2: losing my fish and my veggies because they just can't
- 19:51Speaker 2: grill without falling through. That's why I've been using Hexclad's
- 19:54Speaker 2: BBQ Collection. It's bringing hybrid technology outdoors with products specifically
- 20:00Speaker 2: designed to make grilling easier, especially when you're cooking foods
- 20:04Speaker 2: that normally don't cooperate on a traditional grill. The hex-clad
- 20:08Speaker 2: BBQ grill pan combines the searing power of stainless steel,
- 20:12Speaker 2: durability of cast iron, and the convenience of nonstick all
- 20:16Speaker 2: in one versatile grill pan. They've also launched their new
- 20:19Speaker 2: BBQ grill topper. That gives you even more control when
- 20:22Speaker 2: you're cooking delicate foods like veggies or seafood, or if
- 20:26Speaker 2: you're cooking multiple portions at one time. Last week, I
- 20:29Speaker 2: grilled the best surf and turf my style, which is
- 20:32Speaker 2: salmon and ribs and lost none of it because I
- 20:36Speaker 2: used Hexclad's BBQ collection. With over 1 million customers and
- 20:40Speaker 2: more than 50,000 five-star reviews, it's clear people love cooking
- 20:44Speaker 2: with Hexclad. There's a reason Gordon Ramsay uses Hexclad at
- 20:48Speaker 2: his home and in his restaurants, and he's the toughest
- 20:50Speaker 2: critic on the planet. So if you're planning on spending
- 20:53Speaker 2: time behind the grill this summer, don't make it harder
- 20:55Speaker 2: than it needs to be. Stop losing food through the
- 20:58Speaker 2: grates and upgrade your backyard cooking setup with Hexclad's BBQ collection.

- 22:14Speaker 2: prices and an experience made for philly fans 21 and
- 22:17Speaker 2: up Dickerson.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Might come back, but we have no idea.
- 22:20Speaker 2: And I'm almost leaning toward the fact that you're probably
- 22:23Speaker 2: not getting Pro Bowl land in Dickerson.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Of course you're not.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you're not.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Remember, he was, before all this stuff, he was sort
- 22:30Speaker 2: of the biggest liability on the offense. And then he
- 22:34Speaker 2: went out and then all these other injuries. So even
- 22:37Speaker 2: if he comes back, it's still a big question mark
- 22:39Speaker 2: for them.
- 22:39Speaker 3: No, remember with him, he confirmed on WIP. Because we
- 22:43Speaker 3: knew the first, when did he get hurt? I forget.
- 22:46Speaker 3: I mean, he got hurt.
- 22:47Speaker 1: He got hurt week one. Yeah, week one.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Right. Well, he was already dealing with the bone bruise,
- 22:52Speaker 3: but he played through it. Nobody knew that. Right. And
- 22:55Speaker 3: he gave it out on WIP and what he was
- 22:57Speaker 3: dealing with. You just don't know, I mean, what he
- 23:00Speaker 3: can be when he comes back. They're in a tough way, man.
- 23:05Speaker 3: You're looking for what could they build on while the
- 23:07Speaker 3: defense is hanging in there. Yep. The past our group's intact.
- 23:12Speaker 3: And here's the thing that's really troublesome. And I know
- 23:15Speaker 3: pass protection was part of it. Carolina's down to two
- 23:18Speaker 3: starting corners. Okay? And the weather conditions were fine.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Okay?
- 23:23Speaker 3: I know you were at the game. It was a
- 23:24Speaker 3: little windy the first half. It had nothing to do
- 23:25Speaker 3: with it. You can't even beat backup corners. Like, that's embarrassing.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:31Speaker 3: You know what? The run game is not going to
- 23:33Speaker 3: get better until they get Barkley back. Pierce is a
- 23:35Speaker 3: four-string running back. Okay? That's what he is. Okay? He's
- 23:38Speaker 3: doing what he can. But you can't even beat backup corners. Yep.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Come on, man. You got to be better than that.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, look at the Packers. They have had
- 23:49Speaker 2: a terrible offensive line all year, and they've had no
- 23:51Speaker 2: running game all year. But to their credit, Jordan Love
- 23:54Speaker 2: has made the most of Christian Watson, and they made
- 23:57Speaker 2: the most of Matthew Gould. They've been able to win
- 23:59Speaker 2: games and move the ball. So I can't keep making
- 24:02Speaker 2: excuses for the Eagles that they don't have a running
- 24:03Speaker 2: game and they have a beat-up offensive line. Not that
- 24:06Speaker 2: I'm saying the Packers are anything great, but they've been
- 24:08Speaker 2: able to overcome– in their regard, but again, they at
- 24:10Speaker 2: least have their starting quarterback.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Let's be honest. Johnny Munn has not been probably what
- 24:15Speaker 3: the Eagles thought.
- 24:16Speaker 1: No, he's has not blocked.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that's another part of it. Some of the
- 24:21Speaker 3: stuff that coaches don't, it's not on them. Some of
- 24:24Speaker 3: it is, I'm not absolving anyone front office or the
- 24:27Speaker 3: coaching staff. They're kind of in it together here. Yep.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I think what we've learned is the quality of the
- 24:32Speaker 3: depth of the offensive line is not what anyone thought.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Remember they brought in the other Michael Jordan, Yes. There
- 24:37Speaker 3: was hope that he, because he's sort of a journeyman
- 24:39Speaker 3: guard who started some games. That didn't work. And where
- 24:43Speaker 3: was the veteran guard that they brought in? They didn't
- 24:46Speaker 3: after that.
- 24:47Speaker 2: They did not. They did not.
- 24:49Speaker 1: No, a lot of questions.
- 24:50Speaker 2: A lot of questions for the Eagles going forward.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Adam, unfortunately, probably much fewer answers. We just have to
- 24:57Speaker 1: see how things play out.
- 24:58Speaker 2: But what we do know is no Jalen Hurts, most
- 25:01Speaker 2: likely for the rest of the year, out for the year.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And the Tanner McKee show is upon us.
- 25:06Speaker 1: For better or for worse.
- 25:07Speaker 2: And that is going to do it for this emergency
- 25:10Speaker 2: edition of Inside the Birds. We, of course, thank everybody
- 25:13Speaker 2: for flying with us. For Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Thank you again for flying with us Inside the Birds.
