- 0:08Welcome back to another edition of the Predators Official
- 0:11Podcast here on ESPN1O25, The game streaming on YouTube and
- 0:15wherever you get your favorite podcasts.
- 0:18I'm Brooks Bratton alongside my friends Max Hers and Cara
- 0:21Hammer, who are, by the way, rocking some of the coolest
- 0:25attire I think that exists in the history of the Predators
- 0:29franchise. Before we get into this, do you
- 0:31both mind telling the folks what you're sporting today?
- 0:35Sure, I'll let Max go first. I am in one of the podcast
- 0:40recording studios here at Bridgestone Arena.
- 0:42So can I turn my camera around? Will that ruin the podcast?
- 0:44This is groundbreaking. Terrace, please hold.
- 0:48Let's see if this works. Look at this.
- 0:51Wow, suddenly tootsies. Wow, what a view.
- 0:57Yeah, but as you can see, I'm in the Spire, the Predator's
- 1:02original shoulder logo, the cell tower at Bridgestone Arena.
- 1:05But there are a lot of sun panels in here, so it's quite
- 1:09warm. So I had to take my cred
- 1:11sweatshirt off and I'm representing Mr. Factor Ryan
- 1:14O'Reilly 1000 games, the first ever one thousandth game I was
- 1:19ever on the call for in the NHL and a great Pred so had to wrap.
- 1:25All right. Max and I had no communication
- 1:27on this this morning when we got dressed.
- 1:29But I woke up this morning and I was thinking about Steven Samkos
- 1:35last night, how amazing that was to pick up a point.
- 1:38But I also thought, how about this, let's bring the passion.
- 1:42That's what Terry Crisp would say.
- 1:44That's what the press did also. We're coming off a big week.
- 1:47Terry Crisp, our Crisp, excuse me, our good friend Pete Weber
- 1:50inducted into the Predators Golden Hall.
- 1:52So I woke up this morning and I was, guys, I was feeling, I'm
- 1:55bummed about the two points. I'm going to let you guys break
- 1:58it down since you were both in attendance.
- 1:59But I don't know, man, at the end of the game I was going
- 2:02crazy. Well, we were just talking about
- 2:07it before we came on the air, talking about how many people
- 2:09are watching on YouTube. So as if you didn't have
- 2:11incentive enough to watch on YouTube, if you're missing Kara
- 2:14and Max, what they're sporting today, then you're really
- 2:17missing out. So jump on, watch it in person.
- 2:20Their attire is amazing. I am incredibly boring today,
- 2:23but that's beside the point as Kara alluded to a lot to get to.
- 2:27Matthew Woods finding the back of the net.
- 2:29Ozzie Wiseblatts becoming annoying, which is great.
- 2:32An interview with Philip Forsberg ahead of the big Sweden
- 2:34trip next week. Of course, our biggie awesome
- 2:37person of the week as well, but I'm sure we can all guess where
- 2:40we're going to start as we record on Wednesday, November
- 2:445th in the afternoon. So the Predators started the
- 2:46week with a back-to-back set a 54 overtime loss to Vancouver.
- 2:50On Monday in Nashville, the Preds battle back to get a point
- 2:54score twice in the third before losing with just two seconds
- 2:56left in OT. One heartbreaker there.
- 2:59Then on Tuesday night in Minnesota, one of the more
- 3:02dramatic, strange, weird, crazy endings to a game and franchise
- 3:07history. So the Predators are down 2 to
- 3:10one late in regulation with .3 seconds remaining on the clock.
- 3:15Nick Blankenberg finds Steven Stamkos for A1 Timer just barely
- 3:19beats the buzzer. Take a look at that.
- 3:22Taken there by Eriksenack. It's kept in two seconds.
- 3:26Stamkos one timer, He's gone. Steven Stamkos ties in.
- 3:34That's going to. Count.
- 3:36They're going to double check. What a shot.
- 3:39We just talking about Stamkos and there's this patented
- 3:43stammer hammer right in the back.
- 3:46I don't know how much time it went in.
- 3:47Before it expired, but they kept that puck alive.
- 3:51They kept it in and thought the game was over.
- 3:53And Blankenberg from the board, this is a good shot.
- 3:56Get it to the net, bouncing around everywhere.
- 3:58It gets out there trying to ice it.
- 3:59Blankenberg keeps it in and goes all the way across the ice and.
- 4:03Stammer rips it top corner. What a shot.
- 4:07There it is. That's vintage Ski Damn coast
- 4:11right there. Just a laser top shelf.
- 4:15OK, so Stammer ties the game incredibly late, breaks out of a
- 4:19slump, so we're going overtime again, and then in the extra
- 4:22session controversy. To the trailer, back to Caprice
- 4:27off the net, got knocked off. But they're gonna go.
- 4:30They're gonna call a goal. They're gonna call a goal.
- 4:33Wow, I don't know if you can do that.
- 4:36That's. A horse hasn't sounded.
- 4:39It wasn't intentional. They're going to huddle up here.
- 4:43I I. Burnett has thrown his hands up.
- 4:46He has you. You have I think.
- 4:48You have to deem that was intentional.
- 4:50They're going to look at it. They're going to look at it,
- 4:52mate. They're going right to the
- 4:54headset. Like that has happened before in
- 4:58the game, he's coming across hard to make sure that that
- 5:02shot, he's covered that. He's trying to push when you're
- 5:07goalie, that's. It he's trying.
- 5:08To squeeze to the post, right? You try to squeeze the post and
- 5:11he's trying to push off. He's pushed his arm out so that
- 5:16it, it does look a little like he might, might have meant to do
- 5:19that. But you're trying to use the
- 5:20post if it's in its moorings, If it's in there properly, you're
- 5:23using the post to push off against, to try to get back to
- 5:27the back door. And then that just went off.
- 5:29He didn't lift it. And not to mention he missed the
- 5:32shot that was not going in, you can see.
- 5:37OK, so there you see those clips.
- 5:39So what happened? And I'm sure everybody has had a
- 5:41chance to at least see it in some form or digested a little
- 5:44bit. Stamkos tied the game with the
- 5:46extra attacker. The Predators go to overtime.
- 5:49In the extra session, the Wild were awarded the winning goal
- 5:52after Predators goaltender Eustis honored him.
- 5:55He pushed from side to side, knocked the net off the moorings
- 5:58and it's process at that point. Wild forward Marcus Johansson,
- 6:02as you saw, eventually shot the puck over the goal line where
- 6:05the net would have been in that moment.
- 6:08It was awarded a goal by Trevor Hanson, the referee on the ice
- 6:11by the the net there that the Preds were defending.
- 6:15So then following the review, the goal was allowed to stand,
- 6:18sending the Preds home with a single point instead of two.
- 6:21And Steven Stamkos, former captain in the NHL, he's done
- 6:24the media thing a bunch. Obviously in his career.
- 6:27He had a really great explanation on what he heard
- 6:30from the officials and just in the moment being on the ice here
- 6:33was what he had to say post game and his interpretation of the
- 6:36play. See a weird, weird play.
- 6:39I mean, I, I can see the confusion, but the confusing
- 6:44part for us was why it was so emphatically called the light.
- 6:47I, I get it. Listen, the net came off, you
- 6:51know, but if the puck goes in right away, no problem If the
- 6:54net's off. But he missed the net and the
- 6:57puck actually bounced back to him because the net was sideways
- 7:01and then he hit the back and then it and it popped back.
- 7:03So. My interpretation of the rule is
- 7:07that, you know, if the net wasn't off, that puck wouldn't
- 7:11have came back to him to have an open that would have went behind
- 7:13the net and then the play would have been blown dead because the
- 7:15net was off. I understand the net came off.
- 7:19I don't think there was any intent from our goaltender to
- 7:21knock it off. It came off twice today.
- 7:24So, but just, I mean from our vantage point obviously going to
- 7:29differ from theirs, but we thought.
- 7:32The puck came back to him on the second attempt because the net
- 7:35was off. If not, the puck goes behind the
- 7:37net and we live to fight another day.
- 7:40So that's where we didn't agree with the call.
- 7:43You have to be just happy with the way that you guys play it
- 7:46and and to at least. Get the point there?
- 7:49I mean, we deserved a lot, a lot better for sure.
- 7:53One of our better games of the season for sure.
- 7:56Tough building to play and I thought we dictated the play for
- 7:58most of the night. Had the offensive zone pressure,
- 8:02you know, so obviously nice to get a point, but certainly
- 8:05deserve better I think. What did you see at the?
- 8:08Final seconds of your trying goal there.
- 8:11Well, I mean, I, I took a peek at the clock with about 8
- 8:13seconds left. So I knew any, you know,
- 8:16opportunity we're going to have, we have to get the puck off
- 8:18quick and we did a great job again of controlling the puck.
- 8:21We had some looks, some retrieval, some battles and just
- 8:25tried to get a shot off. Got a nice pass from Blankie and
- 8:27obviously nice to see that going.
- 8:29Even that final overtime beside it, it does feel like you guys
- 8:32dominated. The play just help.
- 8:33I know there's no moral victory in that, but it has to feel.
- 8:36Pretty good with the way you. Guys perform.
- 8:38Yeah. I mean, like I said, I thought
- 8:39that was one of our better efforts of the year in terms of
- 8:42offensive zone pressure, you know, having pucks, putting them
- 8:46in the right areas, creating scoring chances.
- 8:48So, you know, hopefully it's just a matter of time before we
- 8:51start getting some, some bounces ourselves.
- 8:56So Max and Cara, First off, an excellent, well thought out
- 8:58answer from Steven Stamkos there.
- 9:00I think we were all pretty impressed with that.
- 9:02Just simply after the fact, how he was able to articulate the
- 9:05way that things played out and how the Predators were viewing
- 9:08things. But we want to present the facts
- 9:10here. So the explanation that the NHL
- 9:13put out last night, and I want to read this, the NHL says the
- 9:16video review supported the referee's call on the ice that
- 9:20the actions of Nashville's Eustis on and then caused the
- 9:22net to be displaced prior to the puck crossing the goal line.
- 9:26Therefore, the referees awarded Minnesota's Marcus Johansson
- 9:29with a goal. The decision was made in
- 9:32accordance with Rule 63.7, which states in the event that the
- 9:36goal post is displaced either deliberately or accidentally.
- 9:40I think that's a key point. A lot of folks on social media
- 9:42going back and forth did on and then do it deliberately,
- 9:46accidentally, it doesn't matter either deliberately or
- 9:49accidentally by a defending player.
- 9:51Prior to the puck crossing the goal line between the normal
- 9:53position of the goal posts, the referee may award a goal.
- 9:56In order to award a goal in this situation, the goal posts must
- 10:01have been displaced by the actions of a defending player.
- 10:05The attacking player must have an imminent scoring opportunity
- 10:09prior to the goal posts being displaced, and it must be
- 10:13determined that the puck would have entered the net between the
- 10:16normal position of the goal posts.
- 10:19Obviously, this is not a super simple rule.
- 10:22There's a lot that comes into play here.
- 10:25Was the net knocked off? Yes.
- 10:26Whether deliberate or accidental doesn't matter.
- 10:29An imminent scoring opportunity, Yes, absolutely.
- 10:33The determination of the puck would have entered the net
- 10:35between the goal posts. I think that's where it gets a
- 10:38little hairy. That's where the officials on
- 10:40the ice in the NHL saw one thing.
- 10:42The Predators are obviously going to view it differently.
- 10:45Therein lies the confusion. And Max, that's what we were
- 10:48dealing with postgame as Steven Stamkos gave his explanation.
- 10:52And at the end of the night, the Predators only come away with
- 10:54one point. Yeah, they they made an
- 10:57assumption that that was going to be a goal, and I think the
- 10:59Predators have a case against that.
- 11:01The thing that really bothered me about this, Brooks, other
- 11:03than the result of the game, is that at no point in this process
- 11:07did either referee get on the microphone to explain to the
- 11:10fans, the teams and us, the media who relay these things to
- 11:14the fans, what the call was. And it was obvious.
- 11:17They pointed that it was a goal. They went to review.
- 11:20They said it was still a goal. I understand that's what the
- 11:22review was, but you got to tell us what's going on.
- 11:25It's a game deciding review. So that was what really bothered
- 11:29me. We did not hear from Eustace on
- 11:32in an interview post game. I look forward to speaking to
- 11:34him on Thursday to get his point of view of the play.
- 11:37And he's pushing off the post. I don't think he's trying to
- 11:40push the net off, but he's trying to come across to make a
- 11:43last ditch game saving save. So it's it's a tough way to
- 11:47lose. And the puck really never went
- 11:49in the net. It took Johansson two tries to
- 11:52put it in. So it's frustrating for a lot of
- 11:54reasons and the the Preds deserve better in that game.
- 11:58They played well enough to win that game.
- 12:00They had some great scoring chances, especially in the first
- 12:02period, and it's a tough one to lose playing really well on the
- 12:06back end of the back-to-back against a well rested division
- 12:08opponent. That's your rival.
- 12:10I think the one thing about it is the way the game ended,
- 12:12because now this is what we're talking about.
- 12:14Had Minnesota come out and scored and the Preds would have
- 12:18lost anyway. We would be talking about Steven
- 12:20Stamkos last second goal to to push this game into overtime to
- 12:24pick up the point and we would be focused on that and we would
- 12:27be excited That's that Stammer was able to find the back of the
- 12:30net. I mean, that was a Hall of Fame
- 12:32play. That's the guy you want in that
- 12:34situation who was able to execute, but now here we are
- 12:38talking about the overtime because of the controversy
- 12:41surrounding the goal. Yeah, there's a lot to digest
- 12:45there. And you know, I I always go back
- 12:47to something that friend of the show Elliot Friedman says in
- 12:50moments like this and a goal review that is a bit
- 12:53complicated. Would you be OK with the Stanley
- 12:57Cup being awarded on a goal like this?
- 12:58Because that could be the case one day.
- 13:01I don't know. I don't know what the answer is
- 13:03there. Would you be OK with that?
- 13:04I don't know. So think regardless Max is you
- 13:07said that it is what it is and and that's what Andrew Brunette
- 13:11said post game. The Predator saw it one way, the
- 13:14official saw it another way. You've got to move on.
- 13:17I something else that Willie Donnick, I think did a great job
- 13:20of pointing out on the Predators broadcast.
- 13:22As we saw at the very end of the game, the decision has been
- 13:25made. Steven Stamkos has gotten an
- 13:28explanation. Andrew Brunette has gotten an
- 13:29explanation. Neither one of them are
- 13:31satisfied, but Willie pointed out that Andrew Brunette looked
- 13:34right at Steven Stamkos as they were headed off the ice and said
- 13:36hey, big goal. Let's not overlook that.
- 13:39As you said Kara, that's a big deal that Steven Stamkos to get
- 13:42off the schneid. Tie the game with .3 seconds to
- 13:45go. You wanted two points.
- 13:47You feel like you deserve 2 points, but you still got one.
- 13:50And that was a big Rd. game to go into Minnesota against
- 13:54arrested team, get a point and then come back home.
- 13:57Now going. Off of Elliott's point where we
- 13:59all feeling that just recently in game seven of the World
- 14:02Series, when you're looking at the play at the plate and you're
- 14:06wondering if they're going to review it and call him safe,
- 14:09we've all been there. Karen and I were watching that
- 14:13game together with our boy Willie and our best friend Nick
- 14:16Barnowski at Ziggy's Pub at the bar, and it was at the point
- 14:21where it's just like, I'd rather the team I'm not rooting for win
- 14:25then have game seven end on a video review.
- 14:27So yeah, it's a November regular season game, but it's an
- 14:32overtime goal. It's a game deciding goal.
- 14:34And did the Wild deserve a goal? Were they going to score anyway?
- 14:38Possibly. Probably.
- 14:41But that's not how you want to see a game end.
- 14:44Absolutely. We may never know.
- 14:46So we got on the plane with one point, came back to Nashville
- 14:49and and we talked about it at the top to the Predators have
- 14:51come back in the third period in two straight games.
- 14:53You love that fight. You'll always take one point as
- 14:56opposed to no points. Obviously you'll want to win,
- 14:59but again, Steven Stamkos with a big goal to tie it up.
- 15:02How does he respond from that? Does that get him going?
- 15:04We know it's been a long time since Stammer put the puck in
- 15:08the net. The Predators need more from
- 15:10him. We all know that he wants more
- 15:12from himself. He's not used to going through
- 15:14stretches like this. But really eager to see how he
- 15:18responds to get that big goal moving forward.
- 15:21Will that get him going? Someone else Who's going Matthew
- 15:24Wood. He scored his first NHL goal
- 15:26last Thursday in Philadelphia, got his second a game later
- 15:30against Calgary and then another Tuesday night in Minnesota.
- 15:33Max Cara, How good has he been and and why has he been so
- 15:37effective here in the early going coming back up from
- 15:40Milwaukee after he was injured during training camp?
- 15:44How about your first three NHL goals in six days?
- 15:47That's a pretty good way to get your first three in a busy
- 15:50schedule. 2 Three goals, four games over the last week for
- 15:53Wood and he just looks so comfortable.
- 15:56He looks so much older, more mature, better in every aspect
- 16:01than he was at the end of last season.
- 16:03And last season he was a pleasant surprise of how NHL
- 16:05ready he was. The Preds thought they weren't
- 16:07going to play him in every game down the stretch.
- 16:09He ended up playing in the mall and he looked pretty good.
- 16:12And now this year, he's doing everything.
- 16:13I love that goal in Minnesota. He just hangs out at the end of
- 16:17the power play shift. He's going to the bench.
- 16:19He's pretty close to the bench, but he sees his fourth line as
- 16:22winning the puck and it never left the offensive zone, so he
- 16:25just parks it in. That front, sets up A2 on O down
- 16:28low, which Mike Mccarran executes perfectly.
- 16:31And Kara, we just see these moments with Wood.
- 16:33It's hockey IQ and that physical skill coming together for a guy
- 16:39who's just 20 years old and is still growing into his body.
- 16:43Yeah, I think we have to give a lot of credit to his dad.
- 16:46His his dad is a coach. So he's grown up around the game
- 16:49in this lifestyle. He's travelled all over, played
- 16:52all over. But I think you you hit on it,
- 16:54Max. He looks comfortable on the ice
- 16:56and we know that the the coaches were high on him at training
- 16:59camp. It was frustrating for him to
- 17:01get injured and have to start Milwaukee.
- 17:02Would really he should have been here on opening night and it's
- 17:06it's proving why what everybody was seeing this offseason. 100%
- 17:11and you guys mentioned the comfortability.
- 17:13He's got so much more confidence too.
- 17:15That's the one thing that stood out for me, especially after he
- 17:18got his first finally in Philadelphia, because he's had
- 17:21so many chances. He's had only played a handful
- 17:24of games to that point, but he could have had at least 2-3,
- 17:27four goals already. It was clearly evident to me
- 17:31once he got the first one in Philly, the confidence boost
- 17:34that has come with that. He's shooting the puck basically
- 17:37any chance he gets now. I don't think that was
- 17:39necessarily the case before that first one came so good for Matt
- 17:42Wood. He's a great kid and he's really
- 17:45coming into his own here in the early stages of his career,
- 17:48showing that, yes, all that work that he's put in in the
- 17:50offseason, all the work he put in in training camp, showing
- 17:54that he was essentially ready to make the team on opening night,
- 17:57it's coming to fruition now. Good for him.
- 18:00The Predators are going to need more of it moving forward.
- 18:02And someone else, another rookie who's making an impact, hasn't
- 18:05scored his official first goal yet, although he did score in a
- 18:08shootout. The rare distinction of having
- 18:11counted? I agree.
- 18:12The rare distinction of having your first shootout goal before
- 18:14your first NHL goal. Ozzie Wiseblatt.
- 18:17He hit the post on Tuesday night shorthanded in Minnesota, But he
- 18:20has certainly been effective last Saturday against Calgary,
- 18:23hitting everything that moved. And his line mate, Michael
- 18:26McCarron was asked recently what it's like to play with
- 18:29Nashville's newest pest. Here's what #47 had to say on
- 18:33his line, mate. Doing it then.
- 18:37Than you do, yeah, I mean. He's effective, guys.
- 18:41Seems like every game someone's coming up to me saying what's
- 18:43wrong with this kid, Like, what's he doing?
- 18:45But yeah. He's effective, he's a little
- 18:48rat, he's good player, he's good with a puck, he can make plays
- 18:51and he's sneaky. Physical like he gets he knows
- 18:55when to catch guys, knows how to catch guys like it's a skill to
- 18:58be able to to hit guys like that, like the way he does.
- 19:01So kudos to him yeah, he's he's playing really good.
- 19:04He's playing hard and he's not really change the way he plays
- 19:07for anybody, which is great to see for a young kid And yeah,
- 19:11hopefully he can keep going and create some more ruckus out
- 19:14there. So there you hear Mike McCarron
- 19:17say, Ozzy, he's a little bit of a rat and some guys are like,
- 19:19hey, what is up with this dude? Does anybody really know?
- 19:23Who knows? But it's working out for the
- 19:25Preds. I'm still.
- 19:26Trying to figure it out, too. Brooks and I get to see Ozzy
- 19:29play every single game. I've been there for all 17 games
- 19:32he's played in the NHL now. And there's still a little
- 19:35moments where I'm like, oh, like short fuse, like here we go.
- 19:39Ozzy's about to change the game. And I loved everything Mccarran
- 19:42said about Wiseblatt, and he's well qualified to speak about
- 19:45him, too. He doesn't talk a lot.
- 19:48He just goes out there. He bumps you.
- 19:50He bumps you after a whistle. He'll run you even if you're 10
- 19:53inches taller than him, which has happened a couple times
- 19:56already this season. And my favorite part of that
- 19:59Flames game? He got matching minors with
- 20:02Braden Pahal. Good old scrap between two
- 20:04Western League boys. Jay Moore was absolutely loving
- 20:07it on Preds Radio. And they go off together and
- 20:10Pahal was yelling at the ref, so he got a 10 on top of the
- 20:13matching twos. Pahal didn't come back until
- 20:16early in the third period. First shift for Pahal, Ozzy is
- 20:19right there on him, dead puck, just pushing him and shooting
- 20:23the puck at him. It's so great.
- 20:25I mean, that there is an art to this.
- 20:27And Ozzie Weisblatt is so comfortable in his own skin.
- 20:30He just gets it and he makes an impact on the game with it.
- 20:34I, I feel like I heard somebody say this Ozzy Osblat, and I feel
- 20:38like he's on a crazy train right now.
- 20:42Yes, All right. I love that.
- 20:44No, I love that. Yeah, that's a great point, Max,
- 20:47that you made too, about he doesn't talk right.
- 20:49Like basically everybody out there, if you're running around,
- 20:52you're then yapping after the fact.
- 20:54He doesn't. And that is a skill on its own
- 20:57to be able to play like that. But then be like, yeah, do what
- 21:00you want. Yell at me, scream at me, give
- 21:02me a dirty look, whatever. I don't care.
- 21:04So Ozzie Wiseblatt making it fun.
- 21:06We're trying to keep it fun out here, and I'm trying to keep it
- 21:09fun. Let's.
- 21:09Talk about Phil Forsberg. I saw Max do it.
- 21:13Let's talk about the goal celebration that we saw.
- 21:18I interviewed Phil after the first period goal on Monday
- 21:21night. I said, hey, that's a goal
- 21:22celebration. We haven't seen that one yet.
- 21:24He told me that his friend Michael texted him in the
- 21:26morning and said go gorilla mode, but think about the
- 21:30mindset of #9 to come out, score the goal and think I'm going
- 21:34gorilla. So good.
- 21:37And that was his best game of the season for sure against the
- 21:40Canucks at Bridgestone Arena on Monday night.
- 21:43And he took that game over. He does what the leading goal
- 21:46scorer in Nashville Predators history should be doing.
- 21:48And it was so great to see Forsberg play in space, play
- 21:51with the puck, take that game over.
- 21:54And it was really funny, Kara, because you and I do our first
- 21:56intermission interviews at the same time at the home games.
- 21:59And we start in historic Studio H, which you call home, and then
- 22:03we split up. You go to the Lexus Lounge for
- 22:04yours. My player comes to me.
- 22:06Nice little room service in Studio H.
- 22:09And I had Brady Shea, who had the assist on the goal for my
- 22:11interview, and I asked him, what was that celebration from Phil
- 22:16King Kong? And Brady goes, I have no idea.
- 22:19I'm going to have to ask him after the game.
- 22:21And Phil's just like, yeah, went gorilla mode.
- 22:24Come on everybody. What the everybody knows that.
- 22:28So no, there's there's some bright spots and I think for the
- 22:31Predators, you're a month into the season now and at some point
- 22:34you're going to have to start stringing some more wins
- 22:36together. But they're finding ways to get
- 22:38points. They're not giving up in games.
- 22:41You can feel that difference in that regard from last season.
- 22:44And again, the winds are what matter most.
- 22:48You need more points in the standings.
- 22:50But there are signs and Andrew Burnett keeps saying this
- 22:54stretch is especially It's a really compact, tight stretch.
- 22:58Sometimes things aren't always going to go well, but Brunette
- 23:01has said you can see the other end of it.
- 23:04If you can make it through this and not get too far down the
- 23:07standings, you're in a decent spot.
- 23:10So the Predators will continue to try to gain points.
- 23:13Thursday at home against Philadelphia, Saturday afternoon
- 23:17at home against Dallas, the send off to Sweden.
- 23:20And as Max is alluding to Philip Forsberg, mustache, bobblehead
- 23:24day, bobble mustache. Yes, the mustache itself moves
- 23:30Monday at New York, the Rangers and then the Preds are jetting
- 23:34off to Sweden two games against Pittsburgh next Friday and
- 23:37Sunday. So looking forward to talking
- 23:39more about that. But guys, the games just keep
- 23:42coming and the Preds got to find a way to get a few wins here.
- 23:45Well, I. I think the fight they showed in
- 23:48these last two games, yeah, overtime losses, you want to
- 23:52win, but those are the 8th and 9th games in 15 days for the
- 23:57Preds. They've had back to backs double
- 24:00over with no back-to-back days off at any point for over 2
- 24:04weeks. So I think that fight means
- 24:06something and the condensed games are worth it because
- 24:08Sweden is going to be so amazing.
- 24:10Coming up next, our Swedish ambassador Philip Forsberg.
- 24:13We'll talk with Brooks Bratton about the trip to Sweden, what
- 24:16to expect, and what he's looking forward to here on the Predators
- 24:19Official Podcast on ESPN1O25 The Game and Nashville Predators
- 24:23YouTube. Welcome back to the Predators
- 24:26Official Podcast here on ESPN 102.5, The Game in YouTube.
- 24:30I'm Brooks Bratton of Nashville, predators.com, and it's always a
- 24:33pleasure to have our next guest in conversation, Predators
- 24:37forward Philip Forsberg. And Phil, First off, welcome
- 24:40back to The POP. It's been a minute since we've
- 24:42done one of these, but it's good to have you back again.
- 24:44Yeah, thank. You thank you for having me
- 24:45back. It's it's good to good to be on
- 24:47of. Course, and the reason we wanted
- 24:50to have you on, especially at this time of year, we know
- 24:52there's a lot of anticipation as we get set to head back to your
- 24:55home country of Sweden to play a couple of NHL hockey games,
- 24:59something that not a lot of people get to do.
- 25:01We're usually here in North America, obviously, but the
- 25:04chance to get to do it in Europe is something very exciting and
- 25:08of course in your home. Where is your anticipation, your
- 25:11excitement level to play NHL games in your home country?
- 25:16Yeah, it's it's through the roof, obviously.
- 25:17It's it's one of these things that you've always been dreaming
- 25:20about really since NHL started coming to to Europe and to
- 25:23Sweden specifically and fortunate enough to to go to
- 25:26Prague couple years ago, which was great.
- 25:28But at the time we didn't have any Czech players.
- 25:31So it was it was cool. But this is going to be a lot
- 25:33more lot more special personally, obviously.
- 25:35And I can't wait to bring the guys over there.
- 25:38What? Was your reaction your first
- 25:39reaction when you initially heard that, hey, the Preds are
- 25:42going to Stockholm? I mean, obviously a very, very
- 25:47happy, very excited. It's one of these, like I said,
- 25:50it's, it's just, I didn't think we'd get the chance to go to
- 25:52Europe again just because we were there fairly recently.
- 25:55So I guess it was a door that was pretty much closed And but
- 25:59yeah, it was once it was slammed open, obviously that was it was
- 26:01a great feeling and I'm really excited.
- 26:04So take me. Back to growing up in Sweden and
- 26:08specifically the hockey culture, like what is what does Swedes
- 26:11think of hockey? What is it like to grow up and
- 26:13and kind of being involved in the game?
- 26:16It's great. Obviously, I think it's, it's a
- 26:19little bit depending on where you're from, same as as in the
- 26:21USI guess. But you know, where I'm from,
- 26:24the hockey's everything. It's it runs the whole city
- 26:25pretty much the little town of Lexan where I'm from is, is, you
- 26:29know, a town of 10,000 ish people and has a rank that's
- 26:32almost 8000. And they sell it out pretty
- 26:35regularly. And it's just a history, you
- 26:37know, goes back to, to the early, early 1900s when when the
- 26:41team started. And it's, it's, it's a great
- 26:44place for, you know, kids to, to grow up to start playing hockey.
- 26:48And, and I think that goes for for a lot of the country as
- 26:51well. It's, you know, even up to this
- 26:53day, it's still probably our one of the favorite sports in in the
- 26:55country. And, you know, obviously we've
- 26:58had some good success. So on all levels in and actually
- 27:00and that that hopefully will continue so for you.
- 27:03What do you remember specifically about growing up
- 27:06and playing? What are some of your earliest
- 27:07memories of being on the ice there?
- 27:10I mean, a lot of them are just going on tournaments with with
- 27:13your youth team. You know, I played for for Lexan
- 27:15pretty much from, you know, I mean from, I don't know, when
- 27:18you start like first team, it's like PV or six, six years old,
- 27:21something like that all the way up to the pro team before I came
- 27:23here. And it's obviously a really cool
- 27:26way you can do it over there is that you can, it's basically
- 27:29like you played for the junior Preds and then you, you know,
- 27:31just when you're good enough, you've got to play for for us,
- 27:33you know, and I think that's it's obviously a little
- 27:35different than than what's going on here with the draft and
- 27:38everything. But those early memories are
- 27:40going on the bus, going to tournaments, you know, playing
- 27:43our regular season, so to speak. We had probably 20 teams in in
- 27:47our state that were all within an hour about which is very
- 27:51different from Nashville, Nashville hockey.
- 27:53But it's it's something that that you can't really take for
- 27:57granted. And it was such a such a cool
- 27:58experience when you look back on so I'm always.
- 28:01Curious, like for me, I'm American, I grew up watching the
- 28:04NHL, going to NHL games for someone who's from Europe and
- 28:08specifically Sweden, like is the NHL the goal?
- 28:11When you're young, do you dream about the NHL or is it more
- 28:14about playing for your hometown team?
- 28:16And then maybe we'll see what happens.
- 28:19Yeah, I think that's that was definitely the case for me.
- 28:21I mean, the first, the first, first dream is, is like you said
- 28:24that and obviously the Swedish national team, you know, growing
- 28:27up watching them in, in the Olympics and, and the, the World
- 28:30Championships, which is a really big deal over there every year.
- 28:33And that's kind of where, where your dream started.
- 28:35But growing up in Lexan and just seeing, you know, going to the,
- 28:39the fan meet and greets and things like that when you're a
- 28:41kid with, with my brother and getting autographs from, from
- 28:44guys there. That's, that's obviously the
- 28:46first dream that that you want, you want to be able to play for
- 28:49the pro team. And I was fortunate to get to do
- 28:51that for 2 1/2 years before I came here.
- 28:53And, and like I said, even I think NHL is, is something that
- 28:58at least at that point now it's a little different because the
- 29:00access is a lot better to, to kids to the NHL now, obviously,
- 29:03which is a great thing with your, you know, European games
- 29:06being early and stuff like that. Guys, kids can watch it back
- 29:09home. But we didn't really have that
- 29:12as much when I grew up. So NHL wasn't really necessarily
- 29:15available until you got older and you started, started
- 29:19realizing what it was. And at that point, obviously
- 29:21the, the dream kind of shifted over to, to that.
- 29:23And yeah, fortunately been able to to fulfill a few of those
- 29:27dreams, at least so far. Yeah, Yeah.
- 29:29When, when do you remember when that was specifically when you
- 29:32were like, hey, this might actually happen, this NHL dream,
- 29:35this may be in my future. Probably my draft year, I would
- 29:40say like maybe, maybe I've been getting drafted was obviously
- 29:42the the big, big step, I guess. But even that year of leading up
- 29:47to it, having meetings with, with scouts and, and things like
- 29:50that and kind of see in some of those rankings where it was, you
- 29:53know, expected to to be drafted fairly high.
- 29:55And so I think at that point, it's kind of when it started to
- 29:59become more real in a way. And obviously get drafted was a
- 30:03step up. And then I guess at that point
- 30:05you the plan wasn't to be here. Obviously, as we all know, a
- 30:08plan was to be in another team. And from from the moment I got
- 30:12traded, obviously there was very quick, quick turn around from
- 30:14getting traded to actually playing.
- 30:16And it's the best thing that's ever happened.
- 30:18So you've been here for over a decade now in Nashville.
- 30:21How many Preds fans are there back in your hometown now?
- 30:24A. Ton, which is great.
- 30:27You see kids obviously in the summer with with preds hats and
- 30:31the odd jersey and then T-shirts and things like that, which is
- 30:33awesome. So at least we've we've put put
- 30:36Nashville on the map for for for my hometown.
- 30:39But even the state, you know, it's like I said, it's a very,
- 30:42very passionate hockey state and they all love like sand.
- 30:45And this is like came out of there.
- 30:46They're, you know, loyal by default almost to the press as
- 30:50well. And that that means a lot,
- 30:51obviously, when you see that well and it's.
- 30:53Easy, at least from a nationalist perspective with the
- 30:55colors too, right? Preds in Sweden, very similar
- 30:57colors. That's kind of an easy
- 30:59transition there, I guess. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:01Exactly. It's great for whenever I play
- 31:03with national team, I don't have to change my change my running
- 31:05shoes too much at all and the tape and stuff so it's easy.
- 31:09Nice. OK.
- 31:09So what's the plan for when we do go over how many family
- 31:12friends? What are you expecting in that
- 31:14regard? Nothing too crazy This is one of
- 31:18those opportunities when and you obviously want to make sure that
- 31:21everybody gets gets a chance to experience it.
- 31:23But the good thing, I guess in situation like this is my family
- 31:26is not the biggest, you know, it's don't have like I'm the
- 31:31oldest. My brother just had his first
- 31:32baby, but he's, you know, a couple weeks old.
- 31:34So there's no nieces and nephews and things like that yet, which
- 31:37I'm really excited about at some point.
- 31:39But right now the family is fairly small, which, which makes
- 31:42tickets a lot easier for for the wallet, which is good.
- 31:44But but obviously a lot of friends and and people that that
- 31:47you want to be there, we're going to try to make it happen
- 31:49for them as well. Nice.
- 31:51And will your little one be making the trip?
- 31:54Yeah, yeah. You know, you know by now he's
- 31:56not missing anything, so we'll be there.
- 31:58I so. I I know that.
- 32:00I mean, at this point he's probably not going to remember
- 32:02it, but for you to have him there in games in your home
- 32:05country, how much you looking forward to that as a dad?
- 32:08Oh, it's going to be. Awesome.
- 32:09You know, I was obviously we played the world in Stockholm
- 32:12this, this spring and that was great seeing the same thing, you
- 32:15know, your percent of your country with, with your son and,
- 32:17and obviously your American wife in the stands.
- 32:20But she's, she's a Swede now. And it's going to be, you know,
- 32:23in a way a lot more special to playing for Preds just with
- 32:26everything that has happened over here in the last decade
- 32:29plus, like you said. And it's going to be really cool
- 32:31to have them in there and, and yeah, together with, like you
- 32:34said, Swedish family, Swedish friends and then all the team
- 32:37mates, obviously. OK, so let's end on this.
- 32:40For those of us who are going, and I know that there's a lot of
- 32:42Preds fans planning on making the trip, what are maybe some
- 32:46things people should make sure they do?
- 32:48Sites to see, food to eat? What should they expect headed
- 32:51into your home country? Meatballs, it's it's obviously
- 32:56the the most basic answer, but they are whatever Swedish
- 33:00meatballs that people have had over here, it's not the real
- 33:03thing. So make sure they got to make
- 33:05sure they check out a check out that go to a nice little
- 33:07restaurant and order the meatballs.
- 33:09And yeah, come back and talk about it after.
- 33:12But other than that, I think there, there's a couple cool
- 33:15museums, but it's kind of like even here in Nashville, like,
- 33:17and if I go to Stockholm, I'm not necessarily touristing too
- 33:20much, you know, like it's like if I'm in Nashville, I don't
- 33:22necessarily go to the Country Hall of Fame, which is probably
- 33:25unbelievable. But same thing in Stockholm.
- 33:27I don't know, there's the the Vasa museum with the the old
- 33:30ship and there's the Alba museum.
- 33:32There's a bunch of cool stuff like that.
- 33:33Like Old Town is really cool. So I can highly recommend that
- 33:36and but like I said, I probably not the right one else you have
- 33:40to ask Willie about a couple of these things.
- 33:42He's more, he's local born and bred down there.
- 33:44So he he'll know a little bit more.
- 33:45But I think that's yeah, meatballs.
- 33:47You can't go wrong with that. We will check.
- 33:49In with Willie before we head over there.
- 33:50But yes, I was going to say the meatballs are top of my list for
- 33:53sure. So as long as I get some Swedish
- 33:54meatballs for your recommendation, I think that's
- 33:57good to go. Hey, Phil, we're really excited
- 33:59for the trip and certainly looking forward to everything
- 34:02that will come with that and to see you and your home country,
- 34:05but it's always a pleasure. Thanks for doing this.
- 34:06We appreciate it. Oh, of course.
- 34:08Thank you so much and see you in Sweden.
- 34:10Absolutely. That's Philip Forsberg.
- 34:12We'll be back with more in just a moment on the Preds official
- 34:14Podcast. Welcome back to the Predators
- 34:16official podcast where we are bringing the passion as we went
- 34:23in to start the show, Pete Weber, Terry Crisp, both
- 34:27inducted into the Predators Golden Hall.
- 34:30As we know that came, they were announced by Pecorine, right?
- 34:35Informed them that that's where they were going.
- 34:37They talked about how special that was.
- 34:38But guys, we had the chance after the game where they were
- 34:41inducted during the first intermission for all the fans,
- 34:43for everybody to cheer them. We had a chance to to go to the
- 34:46Bet MGM lounge and celebrate them a little bit more.
- 34:49And what a great night for two of our favorite people.
- 34:53And as a Dan Kasmer, former defenseman for the Nashville
- 34:57Predators, told me, Crispy, he's a legend.
- 35:01What a legend. I mean, such a great day to have
- 35:04those guys, their families, their extended hockey families
- 35:07here. First, I got to give a big shout
- 35:10out to a man who I was too intimidated to introduce myself
- 35:12to. That's the mustache himself.
- 35:14Lanny McDonald, 1989 Calgary Flames Stanley Cup champion
- 35:18Terry Crisp, one of the most famous people in hockey.
- 35:21He was in the building with a tour of Flames fans that just
- 35:26happened to be here for Krispies big day, and he was there post
- 35:29game in the Bet MGM Sports lounge.
- 35:31He's the guy who calls you when you go into the Hockey Hall of
- 35:34Fame. So I guess I'll have to wait for
- 35:35that moment to talk to him, which is never coming for me.
- 35:38Obviously. I I was a little nervous to talk
- 35:41to Landy. I didn't get it done, but it was
- 35:43so great to have Pete's family there, Crispy's family there,
- 35:47Claudia Weber, Sheila Crisp, his son Tony Crisp in the building.
- 35:51So so cool to have the crew together.
- 35:53And and what a special day. It went so perfectly.
- 35:56The intermission was a great time to do it all.
- 35:58Part of a big Preds win. Much needed on home ice.
- 36:01Pete and Terry got it done for the boys and early 3.
- 36:04Nothing lead held up. Well, I think that post game
- 36:07celebration, just you, you get a sense of how important those
- 36:11guys are. And we've talked about it.
- 36:13I mean, we had the whole episode with them, obviously, and just
- 36:15what they mean to this franchise, how they were just as
- 36:18popular, if not more popular than all the players in the
- 36:21early days. You could still probably argue
- 36:23that today, but the folks who were in attendance, David Poyle,
- 36:28Andrew Burnett, Barry Trots, everybody from those early days
- 36:33and just to see everybody together and hear some of the
- 36:35stories and that Pete and Crispy talk about and some of their on
- 36:39air hijinks and shenanigans that Pete has a file for on the Tik
- 36:44tik for every blooper that was ever uttered on the air.
- 36:47But it was a great moment to to honor those guys, as you said,
- 36:51and and just what they mean and thanks to them again for joining
- 36:54us for the entire episode last time around.
- 36:56It was great to to talk to them. I hope everybody really enjoyed
- 36:59that conversation. But yeah, I think the word
- 37:03legend can often be thrown around a little bit too much,
- 37:06but you can't say it enough about the two of them.
- 37:10Everybody who didn't listen last week, go back and watch that
- 37:13episode on Pred's YouTube. Pete and Terry and Pete and
- 37:16Terry's Tavern going for an hour.
- 37:18Kara, that is priceless footage. I I have to go with with Brooks
- 37:24talking about people in attendance, David Boyle for
- 37:26David Boyle to get up and, and give one of the opening speeches
- 37:29about Pete and Terry and, and talked about their importance in
- 37:32Nashville and for hockey. And you think about this.
- 37:35We're, we're broadcasters. That's that's what their role
- 37:38has been. But for the general manager to
- 37:40understand what they've brought when he's the guy in charge of
- 37:44bringing in the players, putting the product on the ice.
- 37:47I I think that just showed what they mean coming from a person
- 37:51like David Poyle. 100% and, and you, you just get that feeling
- 37:57all over again. I I often say that and I might
- 38:00have said this last time around, but when I see old clips or hear
- 38:04old stories of Pete and Terry, it makes me bummed out that I
- 38:07didn't grow up here, that I wasn't kind of raised on them as
- 38:11broadcasters and learning about the game and becoming a hockey
- 38:14fan. Because it just seems like such
- 38:17a wonderful experience to learn the game from them and have them
- 38:21be kind of your introduction. And I think that was one of the
- 38:24coolest things in, you know, in getting to talk to some of our
- 38:27colleagues, some of the fellow Preds broadcasters about what
- 38:31Pete and Terry have done for them.
- 38:33I think that was such a big thing that, you know, Willie
- 38:35Donnick alluded to, like, these guys were the predators in the
- 38:39early days. And and they meant so much to
- 38:42building the game and growing the game and bringing people in
- 38:45that it wasn't, you know, not that you wouldn't want to watch
- 38:48the games on television, but there was even more incentive to
- 38:52say, hey, I want to hear what Pete and Terry have to say.
- 38:55I want to go hang out with them for three hours.
- 38:57Yeah, like, I'm excited to watch the hockey game too, but this is
- 39:00such a bonus and the way that they became ingrained in the
- 39:04franchise and among the fan base.
- 39:07I love the point that Willie made too, that you could make
- 39:09the argument that without the the ability of Pete and Terry to
- 39:15build that fan base in the early days, would you have had the fan
- 39:19support to keep the team here when times were tough?
- 39:21That may not have been the case, and I think a lot of that is
- 39:24owed to what those two did in the early days, and people fell
- 39:29in love with the game in part because of what Pete and Terry
- 39:32did in the early going. And it's a mutual respect.
- 39:35How many times did we hear Chris be talking about Cellblock 3O3
- 39:40and what they brought and the chance he goes?
- 39:43I love the chance. So good and these guys, to use
- 39:50an ultimate hockey cliche to put a bow on it, they set the tone
- 39:54in 1000 different ways for Predators hockey, for the Preds
- 39:57fan base, for the Preds team, and for Preds broadcasters in
- 40:01perpetuity as Pete and Crispy would say.
- 40:04So nevertheless, Congrats to those guys Pete and Terry, we
- 40:07love you both so much. What an awesome day.
- 40:09They're getting their gold jackets.
- 40:11They actually are still getting them touched up to make sure
- 40:14they are perfect and they will be rocking them.
- 40:16Later on this year, I feel like Pete and Crispy will just come
- 40:19in unannounced with them on coordinated one day knowing
- 40:23those two fools. So the second class of the
- 40:25Predators Golden Hall, the new team Hall of Fame in year 2,
- 40:29Pete Weber and Terry Crisp balloting is open for your
- 40:32number three tweet at Brooks Bratton who you want to be in
- 40:35the Pretz Golden Hall. It is an informal balloting
- 40:37process, but Brooks will be tabulating, so get ready for
- 40:40those. Brooksy, I would love to.
- 40:42See, and I would love to pass them along to the people to make
- 40:44those decisions honestly, like we're getting you.
- 40:47It's it's not me. Unfortunately, not yet not.
- 40:50Yet at least no. No do tweet at me because I have
- 40:53connections. Oh.
- 40:56OK, that's good, because I don't know who's in charge because I
- 40:58didn't get to talk to Lanny McDonald, so I have no idea.
- 41:02Oh, that's a different Hall of Fame.
- 41:03Never mind. Yeah, that is one that we need
- 41:05to get Pete Weber in. I will be nominating him for the
- 41:08Foster Hewitt Award every single year for the rest of my life
- 41:11until he wins it. So that's one that Pete will be
- 41:14getting, but Golden Hall comes first. 100% yeah.
- 41:18We got to get him in the in the big one up in Toronto.
- 41:20That'll come one day. We'll be back in just a moment
- 41:23to wrap things up. Pete and Terry, they're in the
- 41:25Golden Hall and we're excited to bring you the Preds Official
- 41:27Podcast here on ESPN1O25 The Game and YouTube.
- 41:30Back to wrap things up in just a moment. 4th and final segment
- 41:35here on the Predators Official Podcast, November 5th,
- 41:40Wednesday. As we record this episode, I'm
- 41:42Brooks Bratton alongside Max, hers and Kara Hammer.
- 41:44A pleasure to be back with you. As Max shows off the Batman
- 41:48building, something you can only see if you're watching on
- 41:50YouTube, make sure you're doing that.
- 41:52The biggie awesome person of the week.
- 41:54We love to give this out of course in honor of the late wife
- 41:58of Willie Donnick, Aaron Donnick, a wonderful person and
- 42:01we miss her dearly and it's our way of honoring her and Hammer.
- 42:05We have named our biggie Awesome Person of the Week.
- 42:08I mean. It's got to go to the stammer.
- 42:10How about Steven Samkos? What I think what .3 seconds
- 42:14left, 3 seconds left to to hit the one timer, tie the game,
- 42:18push us into overtime. Obviously we talked about the
- 42:21controversy of the overtime goal, but this was a big goal
- 42:24for Steven Samkos. We know he's been a little quiet
- 42:26on the score sheet up to this point, but I thought that was
- 42:32awesome. So we know Aaron Donnick would
- 42:35have loved that. Steven Samkos, you're awesome.
- 42:38You're a biggie. Winner of the week.
- 42:41I think it's perfect that and I think Aaron is the one who could
- 42:44break you out of a nine game pointless streak by saying
- 42:48Stammer, you're doing so great, you're going to score so many
- 42:52goals. I love you so much.
- 42:54I can just smash your face in. Speaking of that, Barry Trotz
- 42:58told me that one time he used to look for Aaron in the building
- 43:02when the team wasn't doing well, when the when the when things
- 43:05weren't going well or, or things weren't good, he said sometimes
- 43:07he would scope out Aaron in the lounge because he knew she would
- 43:12give a pep talk. She would make him feel better.
- 43:14She would turn things right. So that's it, Max.
- 43:17That's exactly it. That's great Big E stuff right
- 43:20there and. One more note on Stamkos's goal.
- 43:24He pulled the Predators even in the game, of course, tying
- 43:27Mikhail Grandland who scored at 5959 on February 27th, 2020 for
- 43:33the latest game time goal in franchise history.
- 43:36So a little bit of history last night as well as Stephen Stamkos
- 43:41joins Mikhail Grandland in the Predators record books.
- 43:44Hey, you can join the conversation anytime.
- 43:46You can use #preds podcast on social media, or you can comment
- 43:50on our YouTube link in the comments section.
- 43:53And we did get a question from YouTube.
- 43:55They want to know who do we think the most under the radar
- 43:58prospects in the Preds system? And Max, you've got a thought
- 44:02here. I have an answer, you can let me
- 44:06know if you guys disagree or not.
- 44:08It's Cole O'Hara, the most under the radar prospect in the
- 44:11Predator system. He was the oldest player in
- 44:14rookie camp this year because he was a three-year college guy at
- 44:17UMass. He was drafted in 2022 in the
- 44:20fourth round. He's now 23 and he really
- 44:22flashed some skill at rookie camp and in training camp with
- 44:26the big boys and in some pre season games.
- 44:28So I'm going to say Cole O'Hara because he's an older guy
- 44:31playing his first full AHL season right now after debuting
- 44:34for the Admirals in the spring last year.
- 44:36I will say Cole O'Hara is the Predators most under the radar
- 44:40prospect. Love it.
- 44:42Excellent answer. I'll give you one that I don't
- 44:44know that he's under the radar, but it's worth mentioning.
- 44:47Igor Suran over in the KHL has ten goals already in 22 games.
- 44:51He's just 19, right? Not too shabby, so.
- 44:54Geographically under the radar, I think from a hockey
- 44:59perspective, he's not under the radar.
- 45:01But that would have been my second answer because he's a
- 45:04world away right now in Russia. So that was my kind of thought
- 45:08as well. But I like that answer, Brooks.
- 45:11It might be cheating a little bit, I don't know, but I like
- 45:14that. No, I thank you very much.
- 45:16I yeah, we all know that he is. He's out there and he's scoring
- 45:21goals. But just worth mentioning that
- 45:22he's off to a hot start over there in the KHL.
- 45:25You got to. Remember Brooks when asked about
- 45:27what his game is like on the ice, Sir, and said I have two
- 45:31years left on my contract in Russia.
- 45:33So that really sums up his game right there.
- 45:36Nice, nice. There you go, all you need to
- 45:38know. I wanted to mention too, Rick
- 45:40just left a comment that said normally I just listen to the
- 45:43Preds official podcast, but after listening to it, I had to
- 45:45watch this one. Love Crispy and Weber.
- 45:48That was on the Pete and Terry episode, of course.
- 45:50So again, another reigning endorsement for watching.
- 45:53If you're only listening, jump on over to YouTube and you can
- 45:55not only see Max and Kara's lovely attire, but all the
- 45:59things that Max was holding up in the prop world as we were
- 46:02having our discussion and the first segment.
- 46:04And then I wanted to mention to a gentleman who stopped me post
- 46:07game the other day. Dusty, I think is his name, just
- 46:10to say how appreciative he is of the show.
- 46:13So we always appreciate that. I that's one of my favorite
- 46:15things about what we get to do is when, you know, I love to see
- 46:19folks at Bridgestone Arena or just out and about Nashville.
- 46:23You know, we certainly appreciate it.
- 46:24If you're enjoying the pod or you know, enjoying Max on the
- 46:27radio or reading one of my stories or seeing care on TV and
- 46:32you know, you want to let us know we we certainly really do
- 46:34appreciate that. So thanks to those of you who
- 46:36are enjoying the podcast and feel free to get involved as
- 46:40well if you hate. The podcast, you can also tell
- 46:43us that in public, but that will not get a shout out on the show.
- 46:46You have to give us a compliment to give a shout out,
- 46:48unfortunately. Yes, one of my favorite comments
- 46:50in the early days when Thomas and I first started the show was
- 46:54somebody left a comment that said run by two guys who work
- 46:58for the team, not going to get real information.
- 47:01Well, the information is real. We're not telling lies.
- 47:05We we just may not be as critical as other people, but
- 47:08the information we assure you is real.
- 47:10I'll. Believe it when I see it,
- 47:15Thomas. Yeah, Thomas, you'll believe it
- 47:18when you can see this podcast. Hey, we're going to Sweden next
- 47:21week. I will be joining the team
- 47:22headed over to Stockholm for a couple of games against the
- 47:26Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday and Sunday.
- 47:29Stay tuned to Nashville predators.com in the days to
- 47:32come. We will have plenty of coverage
- 47:34leading up to the Sweden games and social media as well.
- 47:39Obviously there will be photos and videos, all kinds of content
- 47:42coming your way from the NHL Global Series in Stockholm,
- 47:46which should be 1 heck of a trip as the Predators continue to try
- 47:50to rattle off some wins, gain some more points here and the
- 47:53month of November continues. Max, it's always a pleasure.
- 47:57Quite a pleasure. Don't follow Brooks's food
- 47:59Instagram, but follow him for his hockey talk and we will talk
- 48:02to you guys next week. Thanks for listening to the
- 48:05Predators official podcast.
