The new tablets and the renewed covenant · Exodus 34
The new tablets and the renewed covenant (Exodus 34) read aloud, in a fresh direct translation from the Hebrew - plain modern English, nothing added.
Translator's notes:
• Exodus 34:19 — תִּזָּכָר (tizakkar): chose "that is male". Alternatives: you shall remember; shall be counted male. Why: the form is an unusual passive of the root for male, and its exact sense is disputed.
• Exodus 34:29 — קָרַן (qaran): chose "shone". Alternatives: sent out rays; became radiant. Why: the verb is related to the word for a horn or a ray, and the image intended is debated.
