- 0:00We tend to measure success or failure in terms of specific
- 0:05results. We see in our relatively short
- 0:08individual lifetime based on our preconceived or societally.
- 0:14Sanctioned ideas about what constitutes success or failure
- 0:19when it comes to progress in Spiritual Development.
- 0:23However, this is not necessarily either the correct judgment term
- 0:28the timeframe within which Which something can be evaluated, nor
- 0:33the correct criteria for deciding what constitutes
- 0:36success. Sometimes what appears to be a
- 0:40life of constant struggle and difficulty, may actually be a
- 0:44blessing that shifts us out of some comfortable but not
- 0:48inwardly. Beneficial situation in life and
- 0:52moves our Focus towards some deeper sense of being and a
- 0:56realization based on the deeper truth of our existence
- 1:02Similarly, in an evolutionary progression that occurs over
- 1:06many lifetimes, it is virtually impossible to either measure
- 1:10one's own progress against that of others were even some
- 1:14independent yardstick or to determine the actual status of
- 1:19one Spiritual Development. Much of the inner growth
- 1:23actually takes place, unseen and unnoticed until such time as it
- 1:28is ready to manifest. Whether this occurs in the
- 1:32current life, or in some future, lifetime is very much irrelevant
- 1:38to the developing Soul. Even if the surface being is
- 1:42impatient for results. In the bhagwad Gita Arjuna
- 1:47propound, a question to Shri Krishna about whether effort
- 1:51undertaken in the life to achieve spiritual realization,
- 1:55can lead to failure, both in the outer life and in the spiritual
- 2:00attempt, if it does not come to fruition Shri Krishna encourages
- 2:05Arjuna, by pointing out that no effort is ever lost.
- 2:09And that all spiritual focus and aspiration has its effect.
- 2:15Even if not recognized by the practitioner thus there is no
- 2:20need for despondency SRI, aurobindo observes quote, but
- 2:26this is not always the manner of the commencement.
- 2:29The Sadiq is often LED gradually and there is a long space
- 2:34between the first turning of the mind and the full Ascent of the
- 2:38nature to the thing towards which it turns There may at
- 2:42first be, only a vivid intellectual interest of
- 2:46forcible attraction towards the idea and some imperfect form of
- 2:52practice or perhaps, there is an effort, not favored by the whole
- 2:57nature, a decision or a turn imposed by an intellectual
- 3:02influence or dictated by personal affection and
- 3:05admiration for someone who is himself consecrated and devoted
- 3:10to the highest. In such cases.
- 3:14A long period of preparation may be necessary before.
- 3:18There comes the irrevocable, Consecration, and in some
- 3:22instances, it may not come. There may be some Advanced.
- 3:27There may be a strong effort even much purification and many
- 3:32experiences other than those that are Central or supreme.
- 3:36But the life will either be spent in preparation or a
- 3:40certain stage. Having been reached the Mind
- 3:43pushed by an insufficient driving force May rest content
- 3:48at the limit of the effort possible to it.
- 3:51Or there may even be a recoil to the lower life.
- 3:55What is called in the ordinary parlance of yoga a fall from the
- 3:59path. This lapse happens because there
- 4:03is a defect at the very center, the intellect has been
- 4:07interested. The heart attracted the will is
- 4:11strong itself to the effort but the whole Nature has not been
- 4:15taken captive by the Divine. It is only acquiesced in the
- 4:19interest, the attraction or the Endeavour.
- 4:22There's been an experiment. Perhaps, even an eager
- 4:26experiment but not the total self-giving to an imperative
- 4:31need of the Soul or to an unforeseen, a couple ideal even
- 4:36such imperfect yoga. Has not been wasted for no
- 4:40upward. Effort is made in vain, even if
- 4:44it fails in the present were arrives, only at some
- 4:47Preparatory stage or preliminary realization. has yet determined
- 4:53the souls future but if we desire to make the most of the
- 4:58opportunity that this life gives us, if we wish to respond
- 5:02adequately to the call we have received and to attain to the
- 5:07goal, we have glimpsed not merely Advanced a little towards
- 5:11it, it is essential that there should be an entire self giving
- 5:17The Secret of success in yoga is to regard.
- 5:21It not as one of the aims to be pursued in life, but as the
- 5:25whole of life and quote, reference SRI aurobindo, and the
- 5:31mother growing within the psychology of inner development.
