- 0:00Good morning , traders !
- 0:01It is 6 am on Sunday , March 29th , 2026 , here on the West Coast .
- 0:07I am your host , Sunny SideUp , and you are listening to Spy Trader , your goto guide for navigating the markets as we sip our morning coffee together .
- 0:17We have a massive week ahead of us , friends .
- 0:19We are calling it the April Pivot , and it is going to be a wild ride as we transition from the first quarter into the second .
- 0:27Our big theme right now is that the AI boom has officially moved into the monetization phase .
- 0:33It is not just about cool ideas anymore ; the market is looking for real revenue .
- 0:38We are also looking at a Federal Reserve that has finally hit the pause button on interest rates , so all eyes are moving away from inflation and directly onto the health of the labor market .
- 0:49This week is packed with two major events .
- 0:52First , we have the quarterend rebalancing on Tuesday , March 31st .
- 0:58This is when the big pension funds move money around to keep their portfolios in line , which usually means selling the big winners like tech and buying the underperformers .
- 1:07Expect things to get a little choppy on Monday and Tuesday , especially for the Invesco QQQ Trust .
- 1:14Then , on Friday , April 3rd , we get the March Jobs Report .
- 1:19This is the ultimate test for our soft landing .
- 1:22Analysts are looking for about 150,000 to 180,000 new jobs .
- 1:28If that number comes in way too high , people might worry about inflation again , which could hurt longterm bonds like the iShares 20 plus Year Treasury Bond ETF , ticker TLT .
- 1:40But if it is too low , say under 100,000 , people might start whispering the word recession , which would lead investors toward defensive picks like the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund , known as XLV .
- 1:53Looking at the sectors , Technology remains our leader , but you have to be picky .
- 1:58Microsoft and NVIDIA are still the heavy hitters .
- 2:02We are also keeping a close eye on Apple this week as rumors swirl about their new SiriGen 2 hardware integration .
- 2:09If you want a broad play here , stick with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund , or XLK .
- 2:16One of my favorite trends right now is the connection between AI and energy .
- 2:21Those massive data centers need a ton of power , which is making utilities look like growth stocks .
- 2:28NextEra Energy , ticker NEE , is a great example because they lead in renewables and tech companies want that green AI power .
- 2:36For banks , we are seeing the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund , or XLF , do well because the yield curve is finally acting normal again .
- 2:45JPMorgan Chase is still the king of the hill there .
- 2:48Now , let’s talk strategy .
- 2:50For growth , watch that Invesco QQQ Trust .
- 2:55If the quarterend selling causes a dip on Monday or Tuesday , it might be a great entry point before a potential Friday rally .
- 3:03If you want stability , keep some of your money in the iShares Core U.S.
- 3:06Aggregate Bond ETF , ticker AGG , or the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF , BND .
- 3:15They should provide a nice 4.5 to 5 percent yield and act as a safety net against Friday’s volatility .
- 3:23If you are feeling a bit nervous about global tensions or a bad jobs report , SPDR Gold Shares , ticker GLD , is hitting new highs and serves as a great insurance policy .
- 3:34And for you risktakers out there , Tesla is expected to release its delivery numbers early this week .
- 3:40If they top 500,000 units , that stock could really take off , but remember , that is a speculative play !
- 3:47If you want to play it safe , just stick with the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF , VTI .
- 3:54To wrap it all up , here is your game plan : Stay cautious on Monday and Tuesday during the rebalancing .
- 4:00On Wednesday , check the manufacturing data to see how the economy is feeling .
- 4:05And on Friday , get ready for the jobs report .
- 4:08If the jobs beat expectations , look toward financials like XLF .
- 4:13If they miss , look toward bonds and gold .
- 4:17My final recommendation is to keep your core position in the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF , ticker VOO , to capture the market's overall strength , but maybe lean a little heavier into tech via XLK if we see some weakness on Tuesday .
- 4:33That is all for this morning’s edition of Spy Trader !
- 4:36I’m Sunny SideUp , wishing you a profitable week ahead .
- 4:40Stay safe and stay smart out there !
