Speaker 5: to be here last week feeling a little bit under
1:42
Speaker 5: the weather. And as I said, with all all due
1:44
Speaker 5: respect to my buddy Dana, when I texted him the
1:47
Speaker 5: night before, which I think we had I think we
1:49
Speaker 5: had a schedule for Tuesday, and I texted him the
1:52
Speaker 5: night before and I said something like you ready to
1:55
Speaker 5: go for tomorrow whatever? And he responded with something that
1:58
Speaker 5: sounded a little bit like Body Tyler doing total Eclipse
2:02
Speaker 5: of the heart. And I said, Okay, maybe maybe this
2:04
Speaker 5: isn't such a good idea to have you in. So
2:07
Speaker 5: he's talked to him last night. He's got several things
2:10

2:31

2:33
Speaker 5: what's going on. Within one of those you hear me
2:35
Speaker 5: talking about him every morning, the folks with Fresh Air filters.
2:38
Speaker 5: John Lovejoy is with fresh Air Filters and he joins us, Now,
2:41
Speaker 5: how you doing man? Hey Dave? How are you? And
2:43
Speaker 5: I am doing fine. You've been coming on the show.
2:47
Speaker 5: You know you're one of the Meeks family of businesses
2:50
Speaker 5: and you kind of rotate, you know, you guys, I
2:52
Speaker 5: have you enriched the real tron and folks we Meeks
2:55
Speaker 5: as well. But for those who may have not heard
2:57
Speaker 5: you on the air before explain exactly what fresh air
3:00
Speaker 5: is and what it does.
3:02
Speaker 6: We are an air filter changing service. We come out
3:06
Speaker 6: and build custom filter frames for your HVAC filter that
3:10
Speaker 6: are healthier for your HVAC unit. Put in a filter
3:14
Speaker 6: that's better quality filter inside that frame, and then that
3:18
Speaker 6: gives you healthier air on the inside as well, and
3:21
Speaker 6: then we come out on a regular basis and change
3:23
Speaker 6: that for you so you never have to remember when
3:25
Speaker 6: it's time to change your air filter, because we know
3:28
Speaker 6: it's one of those out of sight, out of mind things.
3:30
Speaker 5: So you put this on some kind of a rotating
3:31
Speaker 5: I mean, some sort of a system that just says, hey,
3:33
Speaker 5: we need to go see this family today, right we do.
3:37
Speaker 6: We come out and on our initial assessment, you know,
3:40
Speaker 6: I'll meet with potential clients and kind of go over
3:44
Speaker 6: I call my lifestyle questions to find out how things
3:49
Speaker 6: operate there, whether it be at their business, which is
3:53
Speaker 6: our primary focus, or we do have some residential clients
3:57
Speaker 6: as well, you know, and then that helps me determine
4:00
Speaker 6: how frequently those filters need to be changed.
4:03
Speaker 5: So you can't really set okay, your filters need to
4:05
Speaker 5: be changed every six months, every eight months, every three
4:07
Speaker 5: months whatever. You don't really have a set time. It
4:09
Speaker 5: just depends on the individual unit.
4:11
Speaker 6: I guess right, Well, a filter, first of all, should
4:14
Speaker 6: never go be on three months. Okay, okay, yeah, but yeah.
4:17
Speaker 6: There are different factors that play into ones that need
4:20
Speaker 6: to be changed more frequently. Probably the most common one
4:23
Speaker 6: would be pets because pet dander is a huge clogger
4:26
Speaker 6: of an air filter. So if you have a pet
4:29
Speaker 6: in your home or it's at your business, because you know,
4:32
Speaker 6: some people are fortunate enough to take their pet to
4:34
Speaker 6: work with them, then that all of a sudden, bumps
4:38
Speaker 6: it from every three months every two.
4:41
Speaker 5: Okay, talk it again with John Lovejoy fresh here. All right,
4:44
Speaker 5: So I'm gonna ask a really really dumb question because
4:46
Speaker 5: that's what I do. Nobody does dumb questions like I do.
4:49
Speaker 5: All right, so I can we'll talk residential. I can
4:53
Speaker 5: go to my local hardware store, I can go to
4:55
Speaker 5: my big box store and I can or I can
4:56
Speaker 5: order online from Amazon or whatever filters and just they
5:00
Speaker 5: make myself an oat change them every three months. Why
5:02
Speaker 5: can't that? Why why can I not just do that?
5:05
Speaker 6: Or why why do you suggest people do have a
5:08
Speaker 6: dumb professional Well, the main thing is the custom frame. Okay,
5:13
Speaker 6: it's a tighter fit. It's a heavier frame than what
5:16
Speaker 6: you're buying at the local box stores. It's not one
5:18
Speaker 6: of those cardboard frames. This one's made of metal, so
5:22
Speaker 6: it's heavier, which means when your HVAC unit kicks on
5:25
Speaker 6: and off, that custom frame doesn't move. And if there's
5:29
Speaker 6: no movement in the frame, stuff's not getting around at
5:32
Speaker 6: and into your HVAC unit. So those custom frames and
5:36
Speaker 6: having a filter service do the work for you. Is
5:39
Speaker 6: protecting that h FACT investment that you have, allowing it
5:44
Speaker 6: to work at its peak, and to also protect that investment.
5:49
Speaker 5: You know, some companies, some people, I should say, maybe
5:53
Speaker 5: having a maintenance agreement. Now they're heating and cooling company
5:56
Speaker 5: with a local company. And again we they advertise with
5:58
Speaker 5: us too. We're all, you know, we're all about everybody
6:01
Speaker 5: getting along. But if I if I have a maintenance
6:04
Speaker 5: agreement where they come out and they service my heating
6:07
Speaker 5: and cooling unit, why why would I still need you guys?
6:11
Speaker 6: Well, you're preventive maintenance plans typically those through your h
6:15
Speaker 6: VAC companies, which we love h VAC companies. We're not
6:18
Speaker 6: an HVAC company, but we partner with h SURE companies,
6:22
Speaker 6: but those preventive maintenance plans come out twice a year
6:26
Speaker 6: typically if that switch over from winter to spring, and
6:28
Speaker 6: that tip of switch over from summer to fall, okay,
6:32
Speaker 6: that's every six months. Again, that filter really needs change
6:36
Speaker 6: at least every three months, you know, so you're looking
6:40
Speaker 6: uh that in between time. So you know, like I said,
6:45
Speaker 6: we'd like to partner with them, have you know, let
6:49
Speaker 6: them we find it's cheaper for them to actually contact
6:53
Speaker 6: us and do filter changes for their customers.
6:56
Speaker 5: Then that's interesting. I don't know you guys did that.
6:58
Speaker 6: We do cause it's cheaper for them to pay us
7:03
Speaker 6: to do it than it is for you as a
7:07
Speaker 6: customer to have to pay a service call okay for
7:11
Speaker 6: you know, so they can offer the service to their
7:13
Speaker 6: clients and out you know, outsource that so to speak
7:18
Speaker 6: to us and we handle the filter changes for that.
7:20
Speaker 5: And I think it's very important that you very important
7:23
Speaker 5: that John, that you point that out that you guys
7:25
Speaker 5: are not in competition with some of the HVAC companies
7:28
Speaker 5: or anything like that. You actually work with them exactly.
7:30
Speaker 6: We are not whatsoever now My technicians when they go
7:34
Speaker 6: out you know, they're there to change filters. That's that's
7:38
Speaker 6: all we do. We are strictly filters. We're not We
7:41
Speaker 6: don't do installs, we don't do repairs. We don't do
7:44
Speaker 6: But my technicians have a strong h FYC industry background.
7:49
Speaker 6: So if they're out there and they see a potential issue,
7:54
Speaker 6: they will make the customer aware of that.
7:57
Speaker 5: And say, hey, you need to contact your folks. You've
7:58
Speaker 5: got an issue here exactly.
8:00
Speaker 6: And so that way it kind of keeps a major
8:05
Speaker 6: problem from happening. You know, before that HVAC company is contacted.
8:11
Speaker 5: Doctor John Lovejoy of Fresh Air. It's nine to fifteen

8:23
Speaker 5: All right, let's talk about what you do for businesses.
8:25
Speaker 5: And you've told us stories about about some of the
8:28
Speaker 5: I mean, because let's face it, we got some got
8:30
Speaker 5: some difficult businesses to work on the older buildings and
8:33
Speaker 5: so on so forth here in the Kenaw Valley. So
8:36
Speaker 5: talk about the services that you offer for businesses. And
8:38
Speaker 5: if somebody is listening right now, and they're a business
8:40
Speaker 5: owner and they're thinking, well, you know, this is something
8:44
Speaker 5: I don't want to have to mess with. What services
8:47
Speaker 5: do you offer for businesses and how does it differ
8:49
Speaker 5: from residential The.
8:50
Speaker 6: Big difference when it comes to businesses is, you know,
8:55
Speaker 6: you've got typically larger spaces, more units, and a lot
9:00
Speaker 6: of them are rooftop units. So Mike, guys will I
9:06
Speaker 6: jokingly say, any any filter, any location.
9:09
Speaker 5: You don't care to send them up there?
9:10
Speaker 7: Do you?
9:10
Speaker 5: I don't know whatsoever. And I believe in you because
9:13
Speaker 5: you're gonna be sitting in the car going right there
9:15
Speaker 5: that you need to go on the twentieth floor, go
9:17
Speaker 5: right there, believe.
9:18
Speaker 8: It or not.
9:19
Speaker 6: I've actually been in some of these rooftops aroundtown Charleston.
9:23
Speaker 6: I've one in particular, had to go to the third floor,
9:26
Speaker 6: climb through a window out onto a balcony, up the stair,
9:32
Speaker 6: up the ladder on the outside of the building to
9:35
Speaker 6: the top floor, to the top of the building, top
9:38
Speaker 6: of the building, and that was that was quite interesting.
9:40
Speaker 5: Yeah, but my guys will do that.
9:43
Speaker 6: So a lot of businesses think, you know, you know,
9:46
Speaker 6: I've got a maintenance team. My maintenance guys will do that.
9:51
Speaker 6: The nice thing is we like to kind of referre
9:53
Speaker 6: to ourselves as an extension. We're not there to replace
9:57
Speaker 6: your maintenance team. We're there as an extension.
10:00
Speaker 5: It's just basically like you do for residential. It's basically
10:02
Speaker 5: the same concept exactly.
10:04
Speaker 6: It is it truly is you know, just coming out
10:06
Speaker 6: and making sure that those are changed on a regular
10:09
Speaker 6: basis so that you're it allows your h FAC unit
10:12
Speaker 6: to work the way it was designed to work, which
10:15
Speaker 6: lower energy consumption. Lower energy consumption means lower bills.
10:19
Speaker 5: So somebody's listening right now and uh, they're thinking about
10:23
Speaker 5: their residents or they're thinking about their business, and they
10:26
Speaker 5: get they call you, We'll get you the contact information.
10:28
Speaker 4: They call you.
10:28
Speaker 5: Guys up, you come out to a consultation. I guess yes,
10:31
Speaker 5: we do, and you'll sit down with them and explain, Okay,
10:33
Speaker 5: this is what we're going to do, this is what
10:34
Speaker 5: you have, and uh, then that sort of thing right exactly.
10:37
Speaker 6: Yeah, we like to go out and meet with them
10:39
Speaker 6: on site just to see exactly what we're looking at,
10:43
Speaker 6: how many units they have, you know, potentially how many
10:46
Speaker 6: filters there are involved, and then that will allow us
10:50
Speaker 6: to you know, go back and crunch some numbers and
10:53
Speaker 6: you know, get that quote to them.
10:55
Speaker 5: And you mentioned saving money on the bills. That's that's
10:58
Speaker 5: where people are listening right now, and they're thinking, well,
11:01
Speaker 5: I don't know if I want to do this, I'll
11:02
Speaker 5: just take care of myself. But as soon as you
11:03
Speaker 5: say saving money on energy bills, because we all know
11:06
Speaker 5: what they're doing. My wife and I were just talking
11:07
Speaker 5: about how much our energy bill went up this past month.
11:11
Speaker 5: You're saying it's going to save you money.
11:13
Speaker 4: It will.
11:14
Speaker 6: Yes, it's because regular filter changes are the number one
11:19
Speaker 6: way of making sure that that HVAC unit's not overworking.
11:24
Speaker 6: You know, the dirtier that filter gets, the harder that
11:28
Speaker 6: HVAC units used working to get air through that filter.
11:32
Speaker 6: So by keeping that clean and changed on a regular basis,
11:36
Speaker 6: it provides the high efficiency and either the phrase high
11:40
Speaker 6: efficiency heat pump.
11:42
Speaker 5: All right, Where can people learn more? What's the best
11:45

12:14
Speaker 5: All right, John zays, a pleasure to uh to talk
12:17
Speaker 5: to you. Something something so simple that you think is
12:22
Speaker 5: you know that you don't eat out of mind, out
12:24
Speaker 5: of side, out of mind or out of mind, out
12:26

12:28
Speaker 5: simple can can really save people money? Absolutely? Yeah, all right,

15:55
Speaker 5: I appreciate I appreciate it. I picture, I should say,
15:58
Speaker 5: him being like the Matt Hungarian Raboski if you remember him.
16:01
Speaker 5: That's what you can expect when Shockley throws out the
16:04
Speaker 5: first pitch on eighties nights. Over to the ballpark this Saturday night.
16:08
Speaker 5: It's nine to twenty three, big Ley Picli Wiggly hotline
16:11
Speaker 5: three zero four three four five fifty eight fifty eight.
16:14
Speaker 5: Tony the Taylor text three zero four nine three five
16:16
Speaker 5: five zero zero eight want to welcome to the show,
16:19
Speaker 5: my good buddy, delicate Dana Ferrell. How you doing, man,
16:22
Speaker 5: I'm doing much better than last week.
16:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, be here.
16:25
Speaker 5: You sound a little rough last week. I made that
16:27
Speaker 5: call or text you, guys. I normally do when I
16:29
Speaker 5: have somebody's schedule, I'll text of the night before and
16:31
Speaker 5: just say, hey, you're still good for tomorrow whatever. And
16:33
Speaker 5: you called me immediately and you sounding pretty rough, just
16:35
Speaker 5: like an allergy type thing or what.
16:37
Speaker 4: I'm not sure what it was, but I hit some
16:39
Speaker 4: man in body. It's not too long after that, and
16:41
Speaker 4: I was able to get through it. But you know, July,
16:43
Speaker 4: when you get sick in July like it, it's no
16:44
Speaker 4: fun at all.
16:45
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, especially you because You're a big outdoors guy.
16:47
Speaker 5: You're always traveling somewhere and doing something with RVs, and
16:51
Speaker 5: we're going to talk about that a little bit later on.
16:52
Speaker 5: I would be remiss though, if I didn't mention this,
16:55
Speaker 5: because I know you're a diehard Chicago cubsman. The death
16:58
Speaker 5: of Ryan Sandberg, and you were telling me a story
17:02
Speaker 5: on the air that you actually had communication with Ryan
17:05
Speaker 5: Sandberg talking. He died of pancreatic cancer. It was announced
17:07
Speaker 5: late last night. Talk about your relationship with Ryan Sandberg.
17:10
Speaker 4: Well, obviously, my relationship started as a huge fan during
17:15
Speaker 4: the nineteen eighties when Jeb wgn was being cabled in here,
17:19
Speaker 4: piped in and started watching the games, and he came
17:23
Speaker 4: over and a trade from the Phillies as his rookie there,
17:26
Speaker 4: and I became a big fan of the Cubs in general.
17:29
Speaker 4: But Sandberg was the guy. I mean, he was a
17:32
Speaker 4: class act on and off the field. He had the
17:35
Speaker 4: same demeanor. It seemed like, no matter if he hit
17:37
Speaker 4: the home run to win the game or or to
17:40
Speaker 4: put him ahead, or you know, if he struck out,
17:43
Speaker 4: you know, went back to the dugout calm cool. Collect
17:45
Speaker 4: never argue to call He's the type of role model.
17:49
Speaker 4: I think, you know, I would want my kids to
17:51
Speaker 4: emulate after any athlete, always a class act on and
17:55
Speaker 4: off the field. And so I followed his career. And
17:59
Speaker 4: right after wife and I got married, sheep from my
18:02
Speaker 4: first birthday, she brought me the book Second to Home.
18:05
Speaker 4: It was basically a biography of him at that time
18:07
Speaker 4: that was in the nineties and h reading through some
18:10
Speaker 4: of his personal life. He was dealing with some things
18:12
Speaker 4: that I had dealt with, and so you could really
18:13
Speaker 4: relate to the guy off the field as well. And
18:17
Speaker 4: and he had some challenges. It wasn't you know, life
18:20
Speaker 4: wasn't easy for him, some things that sometimes seem unfair. Uh,
18:24
Speaker 4: but obviously you wouldn't know that, you know when you're
18:27
Speaker 4: watching him playball in the field and uh so you
18:29
Speaker 4: know you've seen the evolution of it go through and
18:32
Speaker 4: uh and then last year, you know there, uh went
18:35
Speaker 4: through a situation. I had a couple of friends. I
18:38
Speaker 4: had a good friend here in a valley that had
18:40
Speaker 4: been diagnosed with prostate cancer. And he told me to Danny,
18:44
Speaker 4: you need to go get your PSA check. Get that
18:46
Speaker 4: PSA check is on me and on me, and uh
18:48
Speaker 4: so I did that it came back and it was
18:50
Speaker 4: elevated quite a bit, and there was that scare for
18:53
Speaker 4: a moment, you know, that that there could be something there,
18:56
Speaker 4: and so reached out just by chance on social media,
19:00
Speaker 4: uh and uh to Ryan Sandberg because he was going
19:03
Speaker 4: through this at the time. He had been diagnosed, he
19:06
Speaker 4: went through treatment and then went into remission last this
19:09
Speaker 4: time last year, he would have said, you know, he's
19:11
Speaker 4: uh in complete remission and then uh, it was about
19:15
Speaker 4: the same time, that was about November December that he
19:19
Speaker 4: announced that it had come back and had spread into
19:23
Speaker 4: other parts of the body and things that that at
19:24
Speaker 4: that point when I was able to talk to him communicate,
19:27
Speaker 4: they've got talk between one on.
19:28
Speaker 5: One price Yeah, but still, I mean, I mean, fans
19:31
Speaker 5: of of any celebrity, whether it's a ballplayer or singer,
19:34
Speaker 5: actor or whatever, they reach out to people on social
19:36
Speaker 5: media all the time. But the real Ryan Sandberg Rhino
19:39
Speaker 5: is he was known. Actually you guys had a communication
19:42
Speaker 5: back and forth. I mean, that's that's pretty cool.
19:44
Speaker 4: It was pretty neat for him, you know, and knowing
19:45
Speaker 4: everything was going on in his life and things that
19:48
Speaker 4: take that time to just basically say hey.
19:49
Speaker 5: To talk to a fan. I mean, he's you know,
19:52
Speaker 5: he's a big time baseball player. I'm sorry, with all
19:54
Speaker 5: due respect, he's not respect he's not he's not uh,
19:57
Speaker 5: he's not intimidated by by delicate Dana Ferrell. You know,
20:00
Speaker 5: he probably didn't know that you knowing you, you probably
20:02
Speaker 5: didn't even tell him that you were in the legislature.
20:04
Speaker 5: You just told him you're a fan.
20:05
Speaker 4: So I'm not sure he's been in West Virginia. I
20:07
Speaker 4: don't know how much of but but I know, you know,
20:10
Speaker 4: they knew he was a big fan. And that's the
20:12
Speaker 4: kind of guy is you know, when you go back
20:13
Speaker 4: and watch some of the videos. I watched some of
20:15
Speaker 4: the things interviews that he had on some shows just
20:17
Speaker 4: like yours. He would come on these kinds of shows
20:19
Speaker 4: and podcasts and and speak about some of the things
20:21
Speaker 4: that he was passionate about and and and I'm very
20:24
Speaker 4: involved with his grandsons who were playing, uh both little
20:28
Speaker 4: leig and travel baseball. And he was just talking about
20:32
Speaker 4: his emphasis on just enjoying the game and and this
20:36
Speaker 4: idea that some of these parent coaches get out there
20:39
Speaker 4: and take it so seriously and are you know, meaning
20:42
Speaker 4: kids and.
20:43
Speaker 5: Uh, usually failed athletes in their own that's usually what
20:47
Speaker 5: it is.
20:47
Speaker 4: And he was like, no, you know, this is not
20:49
Speaker 4: what it should be about. You know, you get I
20:51
Speaker 4: want the kids to come out and enjoy, love the game.
20:53
Speaker 4: And and so you go back and watch some of
20:55
Speaker 4: those those are out there on YouTube. You can watch them,
20:57
Speaker 4: and it's just you see what kind of guy he was. Yeah,
21:00
Speaker 4: it was a gut punch yesterday for me because.
21:02
Speaker 5: You sent me a text last night about it, and
21:05
Speaker 5: of course, you know, Papa here goes to bed really early,
21:07
Speaker 5: so I didn't get it until this morning. I got up,
21:09
Speaker 5: and out of respect for you, I didn't return it
21:11
Speaker 5: at five am this morning when I got up, but
21:12
Speaker 5: I saw you'd send me the text about him Bohm
21:14
Speaker 5: passing away. I actually shared it on my on my
21:16
Speaker 5: social media as well. Now I will say this, You know,
21:19
Speaker 5: my wife is from Chicago, but the other end of town,
21:22
Speaker 5: and so they're all die hard White Sox fans, which
21:25
Speaker 5: has not been very easy the last couple of years.
21:28
Speaker 5: To be honest with you, Thank goodness for the Colorado
21:30
Speaker 5: Rockies this year, or the White Sox would be the
21:33
Speaker 5: worst team in baseball. But there is that amount of respect,
21:37
Speaker 5: you know between the two.
21:38
Speaker 4: The same as it would be for Johnny Bench or
21:40
Speaker 4: a Pete Rose. Yeah, there's your guys. You just say, hey,
21:42
Speaker 4: you know this is not about who they played for.
21:46
Speaker 5: I do want to mention this because you mentioned that,
21:48
Speaker 5: and I promise we're not going to keep talking about sports.
21:50
Speaker 5: But I would be remiss also if I didn't mention
21:53
Speaker 5: that yesterday was the eighty third birthday of Marty Breneman,
21:57
Speaker 5: the longtime broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds. The only thing
22:00
Speaker 5: I can say is I hope when I'm eighty three
22:03
Speaker 5: years old that I looked like Marty Brenneman and sound
22:06
Speaker 5: like Marty Brennaman I catch interviews with him from time
22:08
Speaker 5: to time. He could still call a game, he could
22:11
Speaker 5: call a doubleheader, and the guy at eighty three years
22:15
Speaker 5: old and he I mean growing up as a Reds
22:18
Speaker 5: fan in southern West Virginia, you know, the Reds were
22:21
Speaker 5: on just about every radio station. And some of my
22:24
Speaker 5: greatest memories were hanging out with my grandpa in his
22:27
Speaker 5: garage and he had a big homemade stereo system set
22:32
Speaker 5: up where he had these giant speakers he hooked up
22:34
Speaker 5: to an old radio and he would go out and
22:36
Speaker 5: tinker with things in the garage, and I would listen
22:40
Speaker 5: to the Reds games, and I'm talking about the Reds
22:42
Speaker 5: of Bench Rose Concepcion being Red Machine Danny Dreeson. But
22:46
Speaker 5: I was also there for the eighties late eighties Reds.
22:49
Speaker 5: Of course, they won the series in ninety and then
22:51
Speaker 5: they suffered after that. I've been a fan ever since.
22:54
Speaker 5: The only Reds official and we do these Reds caravans
22:58
Speaker 5: every year. Did them when I was at the radio
22:59
Speaker 5: station and logan. The only person that ever came into
23:03
Speaker 5: town that I ever asked to have my picture made
23:05
Speaker 5: with was Marty Brenneman. And we brought in Eric Davis,
23:08
Speaker 5: We brought in Zach Cozart when he played there. We
23:11
Speaker 5: brought in the Cowboy, Jeff Brantley. All these guys, and
23:15
Speaker 5: all due respect to them, Dusty Baker when he was
23:17
Speaker 5: a manager. The only person I ever wanted my picture
23:20
Speaker 5: made with was Marty Brenneman. And I still have a
23:22
Speaker 5: picture of me and my buddy Tommy and with Marty
23:26
Speaker 5: Brennman because he's one of the best. He celebrated birthday
23:28
Speaker 5: number eighty three, as I said, I want to look
23:30
Speaker 5: like that and sound like that when I'm eighty three
23:32
Speaker 5: years old, I probably won't know.
23:34
Speaker 4: I think you're on your way there.
23:35
Speaker 5: I'm on my way to eighty three. That's what I'm
23:37
Speaker 5: on my way to, all right. So I want to
23:41
Speaker 5: there's several things I think you wanted to talk about,
23:43
Speaker 5: and I'll just kind of give you the floor because
23:45
Speaker 5: you got several things. There's been some things in the
23:48
Speaker 5: news about funding here as of late, and some of
23:51
Speaker 5: the county officials a little bit bothered. I know on
23:54
Speaker 5: talk line they got into it yesterday that there was
23:56
Speaker 5: some funding that was being held up potentially by the
23:59
Speaker 5: administration of the as administration. What can you tell us
24:01
Speaker 5: about that? What's your take?
24:02
Speaker 4: Well, first of all, you know, I think a lot
24:04
Speaker 4: of people were when that came out, as well, what
24:06
Speaker 4: are they talking about? What does this lead of fund
24:10
Speaker 4: and grant money that they're talking about? And so I
24:12
Speaker 4: certainly wanted to clarify that and and and that, you know,
24:15
Speaker 4: I wasn't even sure when I was running for office
24:17
Speaker 4: that this was something that would have access to, but
24:20
Speaker 4: become a very very important part I think of any
24:23
Speaker 4: of the representatives, rather be the Senate and or delegates,
24:26
Speaker 4: that we have access to these funds, and we're limited
24:29
Speaker 4: to a certain amount each year. For the legislators. It's
24:32
Speaker 4: twenty five thousand dollars each per year, and that can
24:37
Speaker 4: roll over if I don't use it all. If I
24:38
Speaker 4: only request and get ten thousand dollars distributed out to
24:43
Speaker 4: different groups or projects in my district, then the other
24:46
Speaker 4: fifteen thousand would roll over into next year and I
24:48
Speaker 4: would have forty thousand available at that point in time.
24:52
Speaker 4: So you know that's been the case, is you is
24:54
Speaker 4: I've been up there, and I've been able to do
24:56
Speaker 4: a lot of great things. I think personally with UH
24:59
Speaker 4: with that money for my district, and so I think
25:01
Speaker 4: it's a good thing. It's tax payer money, but UH,
25:03
Speaker 4: as they said, it's it's money that the state couldn't
25:07
Speaker 4: get involved in some of these smaller projects. It would
25:10
Speaker 4: be a micro management kind of thing. But by being
25:13
Speaker 4: a delegate or senator, you're on the ground, you understand
25:15
Speaker 4: the projects, you understand the needs that are going on
25:18
Speaker 4: in your communities, and so this gives us an opportunity
25:20
Speaker 4: to be able to help out some of the things.
25:23
Speaker 4: Obviously been able to help out with a lot of
25:24
Speaker 4: sports teams talking sports there in my community to be
25:27
Speaker 4: able to and it's always let me say this to
25:30
Speaker 4: it's that that money doesn't go for travels, for frivolous things.
25:33
Speaker 4: It has to go for tangible items, infrastructure things like that.
25:38
Speaker 4: So I know right now we're working on and I
25:41
Speaker 4: was able to join forces with both Senator to Kubo
25:45
Speaker 4: and Cintor then Eric Nelson, and we put it pulled
25:49
Speaker 4: her money together to help Cis High School finish their
25:51
Speaker 4: track facilities out there that not only would help Cystamville,
25:55
Speaker 4: but this past year they were able to hold regional
25:57
Speaker 4: track meets for schools and teams from all over the
26:02
Speaker 4: region be able to come in there. And this outside
26:04
Speaker 4: of Lately Field, it's the other campus track and field
26:08
Speaker 4: facility that's able to hold a complete track meet like that.
26:11
Speaker 4: So we were able to get the funds to be
26:14
Speaker 4: able to help make that happen and be a reality
26:16
Speaker 4: that's now serving you know, thousands of fans and young
26:19
Speaker 4: people throughout the just Systemville, but throughout the region. So
26:22
Speaker 4: these are things that these moneys are there for, and
26:26
Speaker 4: it could be for nonprofits, you know, these types of
26:29
Speaker 4: things that we're able to chant it through. So you know,
26:32
Speaker 4: we do this and my understanding, I you know, wasn't
26:35
Speaker 4: aware that this was going on until the news came down.
26:37
Speaker 4: But I do know that the switchover of administrations has
26:41
Speaker 4: caused a pause and that money that was following, you know,
26:45
Speaker 4: because I've come in under the Justice administration and you
26:48
Speaker 4: requested the money. It went through the process. It goes
26:50
Speaker 4: to the Finance chair who screens it and make sure
26:54
Speaker 4: it's legit what you're asking for, clarifies that. Then it
26:57
Speaker 4: goes to the Speaker who also checks that, and then
26:59
Speaker 4: finally on with the governor office, two signs off on it,
27:01
Speaker 4: and then the check is issued not to me, but
27:04
Speaker 4: to the empty that we requested for. But uh, that
27:09
Speaker 4: flow had stopped as the new governor coming into place,
27:13
Speaker 4: so we were told that, hey, they were just trying
27:15
Speaker 4: to get their h ducks in a row and get
27:18
Speaker 4: get a grip on this and get the get the
27:21
Speaker 4: process flowing in place. As of now, I have not
27:24
Speaker 4: had any checks come my way. I hope it's not
27:26
Speaker 4: because if it's a disagreement I might have with the
27:29
Speaker 4: administration as was insinuated here. But uh, you know, if
27:33
Speaker 4: if that's the case, it happened there in Wood County,
27:35
Speaker 4: I hope they can get that worked out, because this
27:38
Speaker 4: is the people's money. It's going back to help constitchments
27:41
Speaker 4: and uh, you know, we don't need to be playing
27:44
Speaker 4: games back and forth out of the way.
27:46
Speaker 5: Have you have you had any conversations with the Morris
27:49
Speaker 5: Seat administration, like cause I know the Talk Line boys
27:52
Speaker 5: had to delegate to Heckert on the show yesterday. Uh,
27:55
Speaker 5: he's been quite vocal about this. Have you had any
27:57
Speaker 5: conversations with the Morris Seat ministration about this?
27:59
Speaker 4: Not recently, but well it's probably been about a month
28:02
Speaker 4: or so ago. I asked about what this status was
28:04
Speaker 4: and we were just told, hey, it's just in the process,
28:06
Speaker 4: you know, just be patient, we're getting this worked out. Uh,
28:09
Speaker 4: but I've not had anything since then. We were asked
28:12
Speaker 4: that anything that we put in at the end of
28:14
Speaker 4: the Justice Administration going back to last fall winter, those
28:18
Speaker 4: had those checks had never come through, so we were
28:21
Speaker 4: asked to resubmit those.
28:23
Speaker 10: Uh.
28:23
Speaker 4: So I did that last month and still waiting, you
28:27
Speaker 4: know at this point.
28:27
Speaker 5: Sore.
28:28
Speaker 4: Again, I'm not pointing a finger. Hopefully this is just
28:30
Speaker 4: the alan of things. But but these projects, a lot
28:33
Speaker 4: of them are time sensitive, a lot of them have
28:35
Speaker 4: matching funds and so we're trying to make that money
28:38
Speaker 4: go as far as possible in the community. So hopefully
28:41
Speaker 4: this gets worked out. And and it's just unfortunate than
28:45
Speaker 4: we are where we are. You know, a lot of
28:47
Speaker 4: people ask me a lot of times, and you know,
28:49
Speaker 4: we have a ninety one member super majority in the
28:52
Speaker 4: House and and about equally percentage in the Senate and things.
28:55
Speaker 4: But within that majority, obviously we have different factions of
28:59
Speaker 4: people with different ideals the way they think the party
29:01
Speaker 4: should go.
29:02
Speaker 5: Talking to Delegate Dan A. Farel with Dave Island showing
29:04
Speaker 5: five Vidie Line bront to you part by Live Healthy
29:06
Speaker 5: West Virginia presented by WVU Medicine. It's a great podcast
29:09
Speaker 5: promoting healthier lifestyles. Check have a latest episodes wv metronews
29:13
Speaker 5: dot com under the podcast menu. Speaking of which, this
29:15
Speaker 5: past Saturday, the Republicans gathered in Morgantown chose a new
29:19
Speaker 5: party chair. Your your your compadre. There a Delegate Josh
29:24
Speaker 5: Holstein out of Boone County. I know you've known Delegate
29:26
Speaker 5: Holstein for some time. It turned out to be a
29:29
Speaker 5: pretty close race at the top there between Wes Perry
29:32
Speaker 5: and Josh Holstein, your thoughts on the new chair.
29:34
Speaker 4: Josh is a great guy, and I think he's going
29:36
Speaker 4: to do a great job. You know, we talk about
29:39
Speaker 4: wanting young people to be and stay in West Virginia
29:41
Speaker 4: and be a part of the process, and Josh it
29:44
Speaker 4: pitomizes that. I mean, twenty three years old. He's that guy,
29:48
Speaker 4: and he's He's done a great job representing Boone County
29:52
Speaker 4: in the House of Delegates and I think he will
29:54
Speaker 4: do a great job representing the party. Very level headed
29:59
Speaker 4: kind of guy. I think, you know, thinks things through.
30:00
Speaker 4: We talked about the Sandberg, calm, cool, collect kind of guy.
30:04
Speaker 4: Josh hosting is that kind of guy.
30:07
Speaker 5: So one of the things that didn't happen at the
30:11
Speaker 5: convention or the gathering this past weekend, it wasn't brought
30:13
Speaker 5: forward about UH Republicans made the decision to close the
30:17
Speaker 5: primary to independence. It was thought that there that may
30:20
Speaker 5: be back on the table. Turned out that it wasn't
30:22
Speaker 5: didn't go through the prior Well, it just it wasn't
30:24
Speaker 5: brought It wasn't brought up. Do you have any thoughts
30:27
Speaker 5: on that on on on the primaries being open or
30:30
Speaker 5: closed to independence?
30:31
Speaker 4: Well, understand what the process what you know, the idea
30:35
Speaker 4: was that they wanted to do this, you know obviously,
30:37
Speaker 4: is that they you know, they wanted to make sure
30:39
Speaker 4: that the Republican values is and the platform that they
30:43
Speaker 4: were putting forth was was what was more focused on
30:49
Speaker 4: the candidates that would you know, would represent that. I
30:52
Speaker 4: do have concerns though, in a long run, that that
30:54
Speaker 4: could come back to bite because uh, we have so
30:57
Speaker 4: many independence in this state.
30:59
Speaker 5: I mean, it's the fastest growing party in the state.
31:02
Speaker 5: The fastest growing party is a non party basically.
31:05
Speaker 4: And so in some ways, you know, we've disenfranchised them
31:08
Speaker 4: and said, well, you know, we don't care about what
31:09
Speaker 4: you think over here and this point. And so are
31:12
Speaker 4: they more likely than when it comes to general election
31:14
Speaker 4: to say, well, you know I've already you know, I
31:17
Speaker 4: was only allowed to participate on the Democrat side and
31:20
Speaker 4: so and and then then let's face it, an independence
31:23
Speaker 4: is going to be more moderate in nature. They wouldn't
31:26
Speaker 4: be an independence, and so they're probably if they vote
31:29
Speaker 4: in either election, are probably want to go for that
31:31
Speaker 4: more centrist you know, rather be on the left or
31:33
Speaker 4: the right. So that may allow the Democrats to get that,
31:37
Speaker 4: you know, go from the more extreme left to you
31:40
Speaker 4: back to the center more and then they follow that
31:43
Speaker 4: Canada into the general election. At this point in time,
31:47
Speaker 4: West Virginia is so so far to the Republican Party
31:53
Speaker 4: that I'm not sure how soon it would happen. But
31:54
Speaker 4: I do think there's a chance, you know, that that
31:56
Speaker 4: that could creep back to back to be a problem.
32:01
Speaker 5: Well look, I mean I had Delegate Andy Shamlin on
32:03
Speaker 5: the show yesterday. He's a teacher. You were a teacher,
32:06
Speaker 5: I mean young people, And I can tell you when
32:08
Speaker 5: I used to go into schools and do but a
32:10
Speaker 5: registration drive, and I worked for the Secretary of State's office.
32:13
Speaker 5: You know, we were not allowed to tell them. They
32:14
Speaker 5: would say, well should I register Republican? You know that
32:17
Speaker 5: we were nonpartisan. We were just like, well, that's totally
32:19
Speaker 5: up to you. You guys, talking among yourselves will help you.
32:22
Speaker 5: The majority of the young kids. And Delegate shaml it's
32:25
Speaker 5: been a while since I did that, but since what
32:27
Speaker 5: based on what Delicate Shamblain told me yesterday, that's not changed.
32:30
Speaker 5: The majority of the of the young people are are
32:32
Speaker 5: signing up as independents.
32:34
Speaker 4: That's correct, you know, And so I think a lot
32:36
Speaker 4: of people just look at hey, I want to be.
32:38
Speaker 4: I think people in the state certainly lean to the
32:41
Speaker 4: right there, you know, it's conservatives value type of state.
32:46
Speaker 4: But at the same time, I think most of the
32:48
Speaker 4: people in this state are also very pragmatic and just
32:52
Speaker 4: look at things that you know, and say, hey, you know,
32:54
Speaker 4: this is non partisan issue. A lot of things that
32:56
Speaker 4: we look at our non pods, and I think that's
32:58
Speaker 4: the way most people want to be. But uh, but
33:02
Speaker 4: the election, you know, I understand the purpose and how
33:05
Speaker 4: they're going there, but I'm not sure in the long
33:07
Speaker 4: run if this is the direction we want to stay here.
33:09
Speaker 4: I don't know this is going to be Obviously, that's
33:11
Speaker 4: why we have a party and we have a party
33:14
Speaker 4: chairman as we did and elect hearing, you know, and
33:16
Speaker 4: hopefully they'll look through this and figured out, hey, I'm
33:20
Speaker 4: here Republican that represents the sixtieth district. You know, do
33:24
Speaker 4: the best job. I can.
33:26
Speaker 10: Know.
33:26
Speaker 4: Their pretenses and what they do at that level was
33:28
Speaker 4: going to be up to them.
33:29
Speaker 5: All right, So final question for you, you're gonna run
33:32
Speaker 5: for re election?
33:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, I've already I found my pre candidacy and you know,
33:37
Speaker 4: look forward to it. I think one of the things
33:39
Speaker 4: you find out once you get up there is that
33:41
Speaker 4: seniority and time and experience does matter on matters of
33:46
Speaker 4: how things and how running. And the longer you're there,
33:49
Speaker 4: the poor opportunity you have to chair a certain committee
33:52
Speaker 4: and having the opportunity to share those committees. We talked about,
33:56
Speaker 4: We talked about the whole thing with the governor and
34:00
Speaker 4: get heckered having the differences and in the pot. You know,
34:02
Speaker 4: I'm not saying theody did, but the possibi ability that
34:05
Speaker 4: money was held up over that. I've seen bills held
34:07
Speaker 4: up over differences in my opinion out of committee and things,
34:11
Speaker 4: and so you know, I think you have to learn
34:13
Speaker 4: how to play that. And if I'm going to represent it,
34:16
Speaker 4: I'm there to represent the people with the sixties district
34:18
Speaker 4: at Systemville, Big Tyler, and parts of Dunbar. Uh. That's
34:21
Speaker 4: my first priority, and then it's the people with state
34:24
Speaker 4: of West Virginia and then to the Republican Party. And
34:27
Speaker 4: if I'm doing what's in the best interest of the
34:29
Speaker 4: people in my district, you know, I want to try
34:32
Speaker 4: to do everything I can to be in the best position, uh,
34:35
Speaker 4: to be able to influence the policies and the laws
34:40
Speaker 4: that you know that best effect and or if it's
34:42
Speaker 4: funding and whatever, to get back to back to my community.
34:47
Speaker 4: That is, That's what I'm there for and ultimately to
34:50
Speaker 4: help the state of West Virginia.
34:52
Speaker 6: Right.
34:52
Speaker 5: Ah, it's a pleasure to have you on the show, sir.
34:54

40:02
Speaker 5: the largest injury law firm. Me and I got some
40:04
Speaker 5: text here. Tex says people have been dead wrong about independence.
40:08
Speaker 5: Most independents I know have been independence all our lives
40:11
Speaker 5: and are proud of it. If they don't want our help,
40:14
Speaker 5: So the Republicans, I think I'm presuming that they're talking about,
40:18
Speaker 5: they will force us to pick asides, and me and
40:21
Speaker 5: my friends won't be choosing this, choosing the side that
40:23
Speaker 5: rejects our support. That is a lot of the concern.
40:28
Speaker 5: And we've had people talk about that that you're I mean,
40:30
Speaker 5: I think it's a mistake. Nobody asked me I'm a
40:33
Speaker 5: registered independent. Okay, I've been a registered Democrat, I've been
40:36
Speaker 5: a registered Republican. These days i'm a registered independent. But
40:39
Speaker 5: I will tell you I think they're making a mistake.
40:41
Speaker 5: But I mean they didn't acts from my opinion. By
40:45
Speaker 5: the way, when I say acts, I am just kidding them,
40:48
Speaker 5: I think, cause somebody commented about people saying acts. That's
40:51
Speaker 5: just kind of me being Dave Tex says about yesterday's show,
40:55
Speaker 5: I feel badly for delicate Shamblain that he has to
40:57
Speaker 5: keep coming on saying the road working cross lanes will
41:00
Speaker 5: start any day now and still doesn't happen. It's coming.
41:03
Speaker 5: Andy tells me it's coming, but they have had some delays.
41:06
Speaker 5: It's not been canceled though. That's the thing that when
41:08
Speaker 5: Della gets Shamblin comes on the show that he wants
41:10
Speaker 5: to reiterate to people that it's not been postponed finding
41:13
Speaker 5: it and run out. They just had some delays. So
41:15
Speaker 5: hopefully they'll get it up and go. Coming up on
41:17
Speaker 5: the show tomorrow, we're gonna We've heard a lot about
41:20
Speaker 5: the issues with the Dunbar Police Department, very very well documented.
41:26
Speaker 5: John Garton is the new chief of police of Dunbar.
41:29
Speaker 5: We actually had him on Metro News Midday last week
41:31
Speaker 5: and he's basically tasked trying to clean up the mess.
41:35
Speaker 5: There have been some good officers in Dunbar, some not
41:39
Speaker 5: so good. Well, he needs more officers. He's on to
41:41
Speaker 5: be hiring spree right now and we're going to give
41:43
Speaker 5: Chief Garton an opportunity to talk about that on the
41:46
Speaker 5: show tomorrow.
41:47
Speaker 4: Again.
41:47
Speaker 5: Their issues with the Dunbar Police Department, the settlements they
41:50
Speaker 5: had to pay out, so on and so forth, that's
41:51
Speaker 5: been well documented all right, But now John Garton is
41:54
Speaker 5: in there and he is trying to clean it up.
41:57
Speaker 5: So he's going to join us on the show tomorrow.
41:59
Speaker 5: And they need to they desperately need to hire some
42:03
Speaker 5: new officers. So we'll talk to Chief Garden about that

42:16
Speaker 5: There is expected to be an announcement later today which
42:19
Speaker 5: could have major repercussions for the West Virginia economy. Now
42:23
Speaker 5: the Trump administration is planning to release a proposal today
42:27
Speaker 5: that would overturn a sixteen year old scientific find findings
42:33
Speaker 5: that has allowed three different presidential administrations to regulate climate restrictions. Basically,
42:39
Speaker 5: what's going to come out in this is greenhouse gases
42:42
Speaker 5: are not harmful, and this will restrict the government's authority
42:48
Speaker 5: to cut back on carbon emissions from the energy and
42:51
Speaker 5: auto industries. It's also going to roll back certain climate
42:55
Speaker 5: rules for cars and trucks. And I can tell you
42:58
Speaker 5: that people in the coal mining industry are celebrating this.
43:02
Speaker 5: I know the boys of Talk Line were efforting to

43:06
Speaker 5: We'll talk to TJ in a bit to see how

Speaker 5: how they did. Okay, I'm getting the thumbs up. Anytime

43:19
Speaker 5: But he gives me the thumbs up from the other
43:21

47:09
Speaker 5: about the gob primary are West Virginia media personalities. I
47:12
Speaker 5: don't hear much about it on the street. Well, you
47:15
Speaker 5: just heard a member of the legislator Dana Ferrell, a
47:18
Speaker 5: Republican out of the sixtieth who expressed concerned. Yesterday you
47:21
Speaker 5: heard from delicate Andy Shamlin who expressed concerns. So it's
47:26
Speaker 5: not just talking heads that are doing the talking. Tex

48:06
Speaker 5: James James, reached out to me about something I said
48:09
Speaker 5: on the air last week concerning the death of Hulk Hogan,
48:13
Speaker 5: and I told you only the important topics here. First
48:16
Speaker 5: of all, let me say I'm always happy when listeners
48:18
Speaker 5: reach out, whether they agree with me or not. A
48:20
Speaker 5: listener named James was taking issue with me saying that
48:24
Speaker 5: Hogan was an entertainer and not a wrestler. But as
48:29
Speaker 5: James pointed out correctly, pro wrestling has always been about entertainment,
48:33
Speaker 5: which is true. My point on the death of Hulk
48:36
Speaker 5: Hogan was he was not a pro wrestler. He called himself,
48:40
Speaker 5: by his own admission, a sports entertainer. In fact, the
48:44
Speaker 5: former owner of the WWF later the WWE, Vince McMahon,
48:48
Speaker 5: made it very clear that his company did not do,
48:50
Speaker 5: in his terms, wrestling, his derogatory term for traditional pro
48:56
Speaker 5: wrestling and pro wrestling fans, which he despised. Hul Cogan
49:01
Speaker 5: testified in court in that famed steroid trial that he
49:05
Speaker 5: did sports entertainment and not wrestling, and apparently he did
49:09
Speaker 5: it very well. So I ain't hating on him for that.
49:13
Speaker 5: But I'm an old school wrestling fan that spent thirty
49:16
Speaker 5: years in the wrestling business, not the sports entertainment business.
49:19
Speaker 5: There is a big, big, big difference, and that is
49:21
Speaker 5: all I was saying about Hogan. James, I do very
49:24
Speaker 5: much appreciate you reaching out. Well, that's what basically I
49:27
Speaker 5: was saying, And I know millions and millions of fans
49:30
Speaker 5: loves and adored whole Cogan and his brand of sports entertainment.
49:33
Speaker 5: I was not one of them. I was involved in
49:36
Speaker 5: the business for thirty years. I left in twenty seventeen,
49:41
Speaker 5: i think it was, and quit watching the television product
49:45
Speaker 5: in the early nineties. So it just didn't appeal to me.
49:50
Speaker 5: And that's okay because it appeals to a lot of
49:51
Speaker 5: other people. I'm an old school traditionalist, and in my opinion,
49:56
Speaker 5: people like Vince McMahon Hule Cogan, although I do respect it,
50:00
Speaker 5: yearly departed, took a giant crap on the business in
50:03
Speaker 5: the early nineteen nineties and actually the eighties and basically
50:07
Speaker 5: destroyed what was the pro wrestling business. And now we
50:10
Speaker 5: don't have it anymore. We have it, it's on a
50:11
Speaker 5: much smaller level. Now it's sports entertainment and people love it.
50:15
Speaker 5: It's you know, doing well selling merchandise. That's what it's
50:19
Speaker 5: all about. Old Cogan was actually a very good wrestler
50:22
Speaker 5: when he wanted to be. If you go back on
50:23
Speaker 5: YouTube and look at some of his work in Japan,
50:25
Speaker 5: he actually was a very good wrestler. But when he
50:27
Speaker 5: came to the ww evens Man said We don't do
50:30
Speaker 5: wrestling here. We do sports entertainment, and that's when they
50:32
Speaker 5: created this giant, buffoonish cartoon.
50:34
Speaker 4: Character that he was.
50:36
Speaker 5: So that's that's the different James. I do appreciate your
50:38
Speaker 5: reaching out, though, Tex says, I will bet the person
50:42
Speaker 5: who wrote that moronic text about a twenty three year
50:44
Speaker 5: old adult being the head of the GOP has no
50:46
Speaker 5: problem with a five year old child choosing their gender
50:50
Speaker 5: and choosing to mutilate their body's a texture.
50:54
Speaker 3: TJ.
50:55
Speaker 5: Meadows and I only mutilate our bodies through the use
50:57
Speaker 5: of cheeseburgers and French fries. How you doing, man hungry?
51:00
Speaker 5: Now that you said that, how are you doing? What's
51:03
Speaker 5: it's coming up on the Big Show today? So I
51:04
Speaker 5: saw that you do have Chris Hamilton on the show today.
51:07
Speaker 15: We do we'll talk about the EPA ondoing that key
51:10
Speaker 15: climate change.
51:11
Speaker 5: Let me let me jump in here. You're an energy guy, Hey,
51:14
Speaker 5: all right, how big is this for the energy? Because
51:17
Speaker 5: you got Hamilton on, I'm going to have Rupie Phillips,
51:19
Speaker 5: the coal Senator, on the show today. They're pretty excited.
51:22
Speaker 5: I haven't talked to Chris. I did talk to Rupy
51:24
Speaker 5: this morning. How big a deal is this in your opinion?
51:26
Speaker 15: I think it's extraordinary because it'll do a couple of
51:28
Speaker 15: things current plants that may have trouble meeting greenhouse gas rules.
51:33
Speaker 15: This decision saying that greenhouse gas is not harmful is
51:37
Speaker 15: a context to roll back a lot of other rules
51:40
Speaker 15: that have come from the Biden administration. Other administrations like
51:43
Speaker 15: them or don't like them in terms of how fossil
51:47
Speaker 15: fuel fired generation, both coal and natural gas are treated.
51:51
Speaker 15: For existing plants in this country, plants to be built,
51:55
Speaker 15: This rule, you know, would essentially say you don't have
51:57
Speaker 15: to have carbon sequestration on new plant that you're going
52:00
Speaker 15: to build if all of this goes through in the
52:02
Speaker 15: long term.
52:03
Speaker 5: So what does that mean?
52:04
Speaker 15: Well, price of energy is gangbusters because we need so
52:06
Speaker 15: much of it. We don't have enough of it, so
52:09
Speaker 15: at a time when we need more, if you're lifting
52:11
Speaker 15: rules that make it easier to keep existing plants in
52:13
Speaker 15: place and build newer plants, it's got to be good
52:16
Speaker 15: for the consumer.
52:17
Speaker 5: You would think, all right, what else you got on
52:18
Speaker 5: the show today? A whole bunch of stuff, Eric Tar
52:20
Speaker 5: flat tax.
52:21
Speaker 15: We'll talk TVT with Brad how Evan Hanson for the
52:24
Speaker 15: other side of this EPA ruling stops by jam Pack show.
52:27
Speaker 5: All right, sounds good. Coming up on this show tomorrow
52:29
Speaker 5: again the police chief of Dunbar. They're trying to rebuild
52:32
Speaker 5: their program there that has had a lot of problems.
52:34
Speaker 5: But John Garton, very qualified guy. If anybody can do it,
52:37
Speaker 5: it's John. He's going to join us to talk about
52:39
Speaker 5: that on the show tomorrow. I'll be back today with
