- 0:00Keening is not just about the death, it is embracing the death
- 0:04as we embrace winter every year because the earth needs it.
- 0:07We need the death to become the fertile material that then feeds
- 0:13the soil so that in the spring bulbs have food to regrow and
- 0:18plants can go anew so that life can come back.
- 0:21It's beautiful to understand grief as a necessary ally in
- 0:28order to become someone different.
- 0:30We are going through it and making space so that we can
- 0:33become more ourselves, the ancient one that lives deep
- 0:37within that soul expression, so we can become more of that than
- 0:41ever before. It's incredibly powerful and
- 0:45empowering. Welcome everyone to Soul
- 0:52Communication. I'm Deanna Mara Devine, and I'm
- 0:56excited to continue diving with you deeper into different rabbit
- 1:00holes reality to explore the human consciousness to explore
- 1:05how we can get better and shine our light more.
- 1:08I am actually excited to head out to California to new living
- 1:13Expos in San Francisco area. This Expo is happening in April
- 1:1717 through 19. Come and find me there.
- 1:20My boost is B34. I'll be also speaking on stage
- 1:24on Sunday at 11:15 talking about awakening the quantum human at
- 1:29the age of AI. So very much a topic that we'll
- 1:32go deeper into today with my guest Martha, right?
- 1:36She is a combination of maternal and bad ass.
- 1:40She has a heart for helping people reclaim their agency and
- 1:44live with presents. And as a medicine woman.
- 1:46Her work weaves together the Celtics virtuality, the shamanic
- 1:51energy, healing, psychology, somatic awareness, executive
- 1:54coaching, and grief tendon. And grief tendon is an
- 1:59interesting topic that Martha and I will go into deeper
- 2:02because I do believe this is a topic that is surfacing up.
- 2:06A lot of us are processing energies and to step into the
- 2:09quantum human, we really have to let that out.
- 2:13Welcome Martha. I'm so excited to have you on
- 2:17Self Communication. Thank you so much for having me.
- 2:21I'm so excited to be here. Yay.
- 2:23So Martha, you've been doing this work and helping people
- 2:26around the world. What excites you today and where
- 2:30you all on your journey? What's happening in humanity
- 2:33right now? That's a great question.
- 2:36OK, So what I really feel is present right now is people will
- 2:42call it A reckoning, and it's a word that I think spikes a lot
- 2:45of fear and anxiety, and then people react to that concept.
- 2:49But really, if we peel back the top layer and ask, what is this
- 2:54really? Where does this come from?
- 2:56What we're experiencing is the culmination of unprocessed
- 2:59grief, unprocessed rage, unprocessed pain, as well as
- 3:04unprocessed pleasure and sensuality, of excitement, of
- 3:09hope, things that for whatever time, reason and situation,
- 3:15people were not able to feel, they were not able to process
- 3:18their own experience. And largely speaking to our
- 3:22history as a humanity, that's been largely an experience of
- 3:26pain and suffering. And so when we do not process
- 3:29that in our bodies, it gets stuck in the body.
- 3:31And if we die with it, our body then also goes back to the earth
- 3:36because we are of the earth, right?
- 3:37We are made from the earth. We return to the earth.
- 3:41And so our bodies, as well as the imprint of our lived life,
- 3:45like the energy that we create and express as we live our life,
- 3:50stepping on the soil, walking every day that goes into the
- 3:54earth as well. And so the earth itself has been
- 3:57holding not only this history, but our current tensions too.
- 4:04And so by having all of this energy just sitting and waiting,
- 4:09we have come to this time, this very sacred and auspicious time,
- 4:13but this time that we all incornated for a reason.
- 4:15And I think it's because we all have the courage, strength and
- 4:18endurance to process that grief, whether it's in our own bodies,
- 4:23whether it's in our bones, from our lineage, whether it's of the
- 4:27collective and those we cry for because they cannot cry
- 4:32themselves, or if it's for the land, you know?
- 4:36And I think that there's just this tremendous tension that's
- 4:39been built up over hundreds to thousands of years and also over
- 4:44generations that is time to be felt.
- 4:48Because part of this whole ascension conversation is not
- 4:51just about intelligence and intuition.
- 4:55It's about experience. Can we live open, vulnerable,
- 5:00wise and love each other and respect each other?
- 5:04How we show up in that moment as opposed to being a certain way
- 5:10and masking that and responding with a canned response because
- 5:16that's what's expected of us. Living in that kind of higher
- 5:20frequency requires to be living with authenticity and
- 5:25vulnerability. And that doesn't always mean
- 5:27weakness, right? That also means strength.
- 5:30So I think that's where we are right now is we're in the, we're
- 5:34not at the end yet. So we are very much in these
- 5:38beginning stages. It's all been built up.
- 5:40It's now time for us to do the hard work of the feeling to heal
- 5:45ourselves and each other. I completely agree with you
- 5:49because quantum healing that I do is all about finding these.
- 5:54I call them distortion. So densities that I see in the
- 5:57field of others and grief is very much part of that because
- 6:02it's a collection of all that debris, so to speak, that needs
- 6:05to be recycled, but it's just held in the energy fields, held
- 6:08in the chakras and blocks people from moving forward.
- 6:12So recognizing these different patterns that also been
- 6:16collected from the ancestral lineage, often it's not their
- 6:19stuff, it's actually these programs that the lineage has
- 6:23been running. And so as an Incarnate, you come
- 6:27into this avatar body with these preprogrammed patterns.
- 6:32So someone who is doing the work but they have a hard time
- 6:37processing, what would you recommend?
- 6:39What's a good start? Think it depends on the level
- 6:43where their comfort and their capacity is.
- 6:46So I think to begin, if we're looking at a novice, someone
- 6:49who's new and just exploring this but hasn't really done a
- 6:52deep dive into energy work, I would recommend doing some
- 6:55breath work and grounding techniques.
- 6:57And when I say grounding, it's not just about sending one's
- 6:59roots into the earth, because I feel like that's aggressive.
- 7:02It's about sitting with the earth and asking, will you hold
- 7:05me? Will you let me be held by you?
- 7:08Can we do this in reciprocity? And as I breathe, let me breathe
- 7:12with the elements. Let me breathe in the air.
- 7:14Let me feel the soil, let me experience the brightness, let
- 7:18me drink the water. And so it's the subtle but very
- 7:23powerful ways that we can just engage with the earth and with
- 7:26the breath, breathing in and out, bringing equal measure to
- 7:31the inhale and the exhale. These are very simple ways that
- 7:34we can remember how much older and wiser the earth is, how much
- 7:39older and wiser these original ancestors of the elements are.
- 7:43And then we can remember our place right here and now as one
- 7:48small and not insignificant, but small and important part of this
- 7:53larger narrative. So it kind of gives us that
- 7:55perspective shift that our FIR needs to just say, OK, I am not
- 8:01responsible for everything and everyone, we are all in this
- 8:05together, but let me do the best I can do for me and my own life
- 8:10or my community or my family. Then if we step it up a bit and
- 8:15say someone has a bit more experience, then maybe they are
- 8:20already working as some sort of practitioner, right?
- 8:23Let's say they're doing energy work or they're doing tarot or
- 8:26they're doing some sort of engagement with galactic energy.
- 8:29What are ways that we can channel, not only channel out
- 8:34tension that's in our bodies, but in in the on the soil too,
- 8:39and also channel back in light. So say someone who's doing light
- 8:43language or Reiki or something that's similar.
- 8:47It could look first like making space, right?
- 8:50So that somatic movement, ecstatic dance, singing out the
- 8:54tension and then it's bringing in and bringing back to the
- 8:57earth, back to the body because we want to always refill.
- 9:01We always want to backfill that space that's been made with
- 9:04light and not, it's not like a love light judgement against the
- 9:08dark. That's meaning light as in
- 9:10divine frequency of love and truth of 1's soul star essence
- 9:15and frequency. That's what we're backfilling
- 9:17with. So it's essentially saying
- 9:19backfilling with your soul, truth and frequency rather than
- 9:25external things that we find in the world around us.
- 9:28And then let's say there's someone who is very much
- 9:33affirmed in their field. They are a teacher, they are a
- 9:35guide. What community space can we
- 9:39hold? Whether it's, for example, with
- 9:41the keening, the Irish keen that I practice, is it doing the keen
- 9:45right? Getting into the headspace,
- 9:47getting with the Goddess and channeling, asking the earth
- 9:49what do you need to let go of. Or it could be sitting in
- 9:53ceremony in circle with community members and witnessing
- 9:56in their truth, their genuine, deep, unfelt, unheard whatevers,
- 10:04without any judgement, but with so much love and tenderness and
- 10:08appreciation. Right.
- 10:10Because that when we hold space for people to be who they are as
- 10:13they are without response, without fixing, without
- 10:17judgement, with just witnessing and compassion, that is
- 10:20tremendously healing. And that's not always easy.
- 10:23And I think anyone can do that, right?
- 10:25That could be a novice doing that for a friend.
- 10:27So I'm not trying to put value judgments on who can and cannot
- 10:30do things. But I think those are the ranges
- 10:32between something that's very subtle but beautiful and deep,
- 10:37and something that's a little bit bigger and heavier.
- 10:39And the reason I think I'd give that to those with more
- 10:41experience is because they know how to process that without
- 10:46taking it on. They know how to channel through
- 10:50and hold space without absorbing.
- 10:52So I think that's why I give that outness to that level.
- 10:55So true and powerful to get to that place where you no longer
- 11:01hold in. And I completely agree with your
- 11:04different kind of levels. Now that I am in the third phase
- 11:07of being a teacher, I had to learn that through my own
- 11:09journey, through my own traumatic practices of holding
- 11:12space, of being ceremonies, of going through that initiation
- 11:16path which we have been doing in ancient times.
- 11:20Right now. Kind of reconnecting a lot to
- 11:22ancient Egypt and Atlantis and remembering how we were going
- 11:27through these different temples in different schools where we've
- 11:30been taught how to be present in our body, how to connect to the
- 11:35universe, but also how to hold that frequency, that container
- 11:39for others as well. I just had my or photography
- 11:42done. I was at this Expo and I had
- 11:44this like white orb around my solar plexus.
- 11:48And the woman was like, this is in New Jersey.
- 11:51She sees all kinds of words. I guess she doesn't see
- 11:53practitioners as much. And she's whoa, like, Deanna,
- 11:57you really don't hold anything in your system.
- 12:00You just have this white orb. And I was like, yeah, I'm just
- 12:03like a recycling machine that just comes in and I burp it out
- 12:08and nothing stays. And I'm.
- 12:10And that's kind of my role. But those who step in into this
- 12:13work, and I'm having a quantum practitioner, of course, that
- 12:18beautiful beings finishing right up with me and I'm teaching them
- 12:21too, how as a super empire, you feel everything, but how not to
- 12:25get overwhelmed and at the same time know what's yours, what's
- 12:29not yours, and how to also release it out of the system.
- 12:33And I love your point about like connecting to to the mother,
- 12:38right? Like really allowing her to
- 12:41recycle that energy because I think she really knows how to
- 12:44recycle it better. But also ground in axles here in
- 12:47this reality. Because sometimes what I see,
- 12:50channelists tend to go really galactic, but they're not really
- 12:52here. They're not really embodied.
- 12:55And embodied sovereignty has been like a big topic that's
- 12:57been coming for me in the ether since January of this year.
- 13:02I talk about it a lot. What would you say about
- 13:05embodied sovereignty? What's your take on it?
- 13:09Oh wow, yes, I love the word sovereignty and I love the word
- 13:13embodiment. And I do think that they are
- 13:15also very sexy words. They are can get used in ways
- 13:19that don't go back to the original meaning.
- 13:21Embodiment is being in the body, right?
- 13:25Being fully present, being in the experience of whatever the
- 13:31vast array of emotions and sensations are to be human, to
- 13:37Incarnate in this life is to be embodied.
- 13:42And so when we go through our various traumas, pains, or
- 13:47conditioning, we start to shrink inside of ourselves or we start
- 13:53to disassociate and have soul loss.
- 13:55And that's where we stop being so embodied.
- 13:58And so the healing process is becoming more embodied, and
- 14:02embodied is truly just fully owning one's experience in the
- 14:06moment, being present and not judging.
- 14:09Am I feeling jealous right now? That's part of human experience,
- 14:13like it's going to happen, but not becoming defined by it and
- 14:17letting our behavior and choices be arriving from jealousy.
- 14:21That's that's moving out of that kind of honest human experience
- 14:26and staying embodied in one's truth and in one's intuitive
- 14:30soul presence. OK, But then moving into
- 14:34sovereignty, that really means to be of the land.
- 14:38And so sovereignty, when we think about it, especially in
- 14:41the Irish mythology, we have sovereignty goddesses.
- 14:45And so when you are with these goddesses, you are with the land
- 14:49like they are the land. The mounds are their breasts and
- 14:53their hips, and the water is their blood flowing, the trees
- 14:58their and the grass, their skin and hair, like they are the
- 15:02land. And so if we can remember what
- 15:05our ancestors knew, which is the land is divine, then we can
- 15:09remember that we ourselves are also elements of the divine.
- 15:15That if the divine is this one massive, conscious, gorgeous
- 15:19sphere, I don't know. I don't want to give it a shape
- 15:20because it's shapeless, right? But it's like a blanket, then we
- 15:23are all little tiny tendrils of the thread.
- 15:27And so to have sovereignty is to remember our divinity, but also
- 15:32to be embodied is to remember our humanity.
- 15:35And I think we really shouldn't try to have one without the
- 15:37other, because I think being just embodied is nothing wrong,
- 15:42right, with either of them separately.
- 15:43But being just embodied leaves us really in our arrows, really
- 15:46in our human and to be sovereign and be stuck with just our not
- 15:50stuck with. But to choose just our
- 15:52sovereignty is to step away from that humanity and really focus
- 15:56on just like the soul experience, the soul
- 15:58connections. But to be both together in what
- 16:01I call the soul self, the two together as one, which is what
- 16:05we are, soul and body. I think that is one of the most
- 16:10empowering experiences because it allows us to be fully engaged
- 16:17in the human life while also feeling vastly resourced and
- 16:23empowered by the wild, beautiful, unknown, and abundant
- 16:28divine. It's to be living in that sacred
- 16:32flow of feminine and masculine, of structure and devotion and
- 16:36discipline and intuition and expression and rest.
- 16:41It's to be all together. It's to be balanced.
- 16:44And I think the reason it's being called in so much right
- 16:47now, in addition to the need to heal and do our homework to help
- 16:52out, it's being called in because we haven't lived that
- 16:55balanced life. We haven't been taught the
- 16:57balance. Like we don't have our elders
- 16:59anymore showing us how to be a balanced self.
- 17:04And so if we step out of the whole of the kind of becoming
- 17:09tired conversation about patriarchy, and I don't mind
- 17:11having a conversation, but it's getting tired.
- 17:13Patriarchy versus matriarchy, it's both.
- 17:16It's both. And so if we can just have our
- 17:19healing work do it so we are not angry with the masculine.
- 17:24And I actually have a beautiful story I could share with you if
- 17:26that's OK. But that we're not angry with
- 17:28the masculine side, then we make space to really hold the
- 17:31feminine to feel safe within us. So saying it differently without
- 17:36burning out and pushing ourselves and being
- 17:39overproductive, then we really allow ourselves to feel that
- 17:42intuitive wise guidance because we're not using that intuition
- 17:47for overly structured behavior. We're using it to tend and
- 17:51nourish the self first so that we can show up as this embodied
- 17:55sovereign to be our most soul self-expression with those we
- 18:02love and care about in our daily life.
- 18:04So much there. I would love to hear your story
- 18:07about the masculine, the feminine, because I agree.
- 18:11And I feel we rebalancing that on many levels.
- 18:14And we know in the prophecy is that bird of humanity where one
- 18:19wing just got overdone in urine and the other wing clipped.
- 18:23And now we're coming to that place where this bird of
- 18:26humanity can soar. And I'm seeing that happening a
- 18:29lot with the priestesses. I get an awakened like they all
- 18:32rising and stepping into the truth and the embodiment and
- 18:35their power, which is so beautiful.
- 18:38And but it's fine line where the masculine is, where I'm seeing a
- 18:42little bit of disorientation where they like, what's my role
- 18:45now? Am I still the protection?
- 18:47There are these beautiful warriors with gentle hearts out
- 18:51there, of course, but it's like they also trying to find that
- 18:55way, and we as a feminine have to help them find that balance.
- 18:59So yeah, curious, what do you think about that?
- 19:03Yeah, so I and I hear you. A great responsibility for the
- 19:07awakening masculine, whether that's a person who is expresses
- 19:12as feminine or sorry, female, male, non binary.
- 19:15The awakening masculine can be about teaching because a lot of
- 19:20times people think teaching is feminine, but teaching is giving
- 19:24and it's sharing and that's a very give right side masculine
- 19:28young expression. It's the Shakti energy, the life
- 19:31force, the we yen, the intuition.
- 19:33That's that feminine flow. And so if the feminine is
- 19:37inspiring the masculine, like the women, the priestesses are
- 19:39awakening, then the priests, the warriors, the fathers, the
- 19:44elders, they can take that, do their inner work with whatever's
- 19:49being triggered to then see it as just love and truth as divine
- 19:52expression, right? Because divine is in, in my
- 19:55experience and practice, divine expresses through love and
- 19:58truth. That is the binary.
- 20:01And so if they can see that and hold that truth.
- 20:04And that love as a part of the balanced whole.
- 20:07Then they can then teach and unlearn share to unlearn the
- 20:14unwell masculine of the past and start to, to share a new way of
- 20:19being. So for me, when I started my
- 20:22practice, I there was a glaring omission in the deities that I
- 20:26worked with. And it was mostly women, a
- 20:29female presenting deities, right?
- 20:32And I finally got to a point where I had to, part of my
- 20:37healing journey was healing my history with sexual assault.
- 20:40And amidst that, not amidst that, I guess after that I
- 20:46started to see more masculine presenting deities showing up in
- 20:50more divine frequencies. If you don't see them
- 20:52personified, that's fine showing up.
- 20:55And but I still had such a resistance to Jesus.
- 20:58I was like, I'm a Pagan and I can't work with you.
- 21:01That's in Chrome grous or whatever.
- 21:03And I just sorry for the big word there.
- 21:05It just doesn't work. And then when I started my
- 21:08keening work, I learned so much from the goddesses and all of a
- 21:13sudden I went in to do a journey and keen for my ancestors and I
- 21:17kept looking for the women and all I saw were the men.
- 21:21And I thought to myself, Oh no, what's this?
- 21:25And they all came up to me and they circled me and they were
- 21:28like, we are suffering we. And so I breathed with them and
- 21:33I started keening for them. And what I witnessed in their
- 21:36stories was these were fathers who just wanted to love their
- 21:40daughters and their sons and their wives and their friends,
- 21:44and they just wanted to till the land and garden.
- 21:46But they were sent to war, and if they didn't fight, they would
- 21:49be killed in front of their family.
- 21:52And these were boys who just wanted to play and chase
- 21:55butterflies and paint and bake with their mothers or the
- 21:59nannies or whomever. But they weren't allowed to
- 22:01because they had to be scholars or they had to be warriors.
- 22:05And it was. It's this truth that we all have
- 22:07in our bones. Just as much as we have our
- 22:09grandmother's strength, we also have our grandfather's
- 22:13tenderness. And so I keened so hard with
- 22:17them. And keening is this beautiful
- 22:18Irish ritual of grief tending and grief release where it's for
- 22:22me, it's very vocal, moving, lots of semantics.
- 22:26Some people it's completely silent, but that I had space for
- 22:30them in my heart. And that then shifted my
- 22:33practice. And then that then led to me
- 22:36having a really beautiful reconciliation with Christ
- 22:40consciousness and Jesus. And so that kind of honestly
- 22:46being open to feeling my male ancestors truths and loving and
- 22:51witnessing them allowed me to come back into balance in myself
- 22:56and harmony in myself, not only in my body but in my practice.
- 23:01So beautiful. And you started explaining.
- 23:04That was one of my questions. What is keening?
- 23:07So it's a grief practice. And you said sometimes it's done
- 23:10vocally, sometimes not vocally. How is this something that was
- 23:14practiced in your ancestral line?
- 23:16How did you connect to it? How did it come into your life?
- 23:21So I backing up just very quickly to give us some context.
- 23:25So I had done shamanic apprenticeships in Egyptian
- 23:28mysteries. Then I did core shamanism, which
- 23:31for those who don't know, it's basically taking all the
- 23:33shamanic practices from around the world, finding their little
- 23:36Venn diagram overlaps and taking that central part, the core
- 23:40parts. And that is the practice that we
- 23:42learn from. So not appropriating any sort of
- 23:44culture or time, but seeing the synchronicities across the time
- 23:49and globe. So I did my time with core
- 23:51shamanism and then I found myself needing more and I didn't
- 23:54know what it was and so I sat with it and realized I wanted to
- 23:58pursue the path of my ancestors. And so I've Scott's Irish
- 24:01history in the ancestry. So I pursued that and after I
- 24:06think 2 apprenticeships, I was called to the next thing, which
- 24:11was the thing, the keening. We were in a journey and then
- 24:15she was like, OK, the goddess is coming up and cool you hear or
- 24:19see or feel because we all have different psychic gifts, right?
- 24:23He's the one who's called you this work.
- 24:24And I was like, OK, it's going to be Bridget.
- 24:26And it's she's spring and she's happy and she's a water and fire
- 24:31and I want it to be. Easy, of course, wasn't.
- 24:36And then I just heard in my left ear from behind five and I was
- 24:40like Oh no, Oh no, I know that name.
- 24:44Oh no Fido, Oh no. And so then I went.
- 24:46I looked at my book like almost knowing.
- 24:49And I find her. And Bive is the hooded, cloaked
- 24:55elder keening woman. She is the one who cries in
- 24:59Wales. She's associated with a banshee.
- 25:02She is the one who foretells of the death of a loved one, or
- 25:05your death if you are on your way and you see her washing
- 25:08bloody clothes in the Ford. She is faint with stringy white
- 25:14hair and her lips are cracked from crying and wailing.
- 25:17And she just, she's, she just wanders.
- 25:20And as she cries, she helps to bring those lost souls or the
- 25:23newly separated souls to the other side to finish their
- 25:27transition. And she is 1/3 of the Moriggan
- 25:31or the Morgan. And so the Morgan is the goddess
- 25:33of death. Morgan represents the
- 25:35sovereignty and prophecy. Maha.
- 25:38Her other third part is sacred rage and maternal flame and fire
- 25:43and horse. And then you have 5 who's the
- 25:46scary old lady? Which he would laugh at.
- 25:50And I was afraid of her. I was afraid.
- 25:53But what I was afraid of was the tremendous amount of love and
- 25:59power she held, that in the face of something so absolute and so
- 26:05uncertain and scary for many there could be genuine love and
- 26:10trust. And so it took me about nine
- 26:13months of working in that apprenticeship to get to the
- 26:16point where I really opened up to embodying her energy as it
- 26:20channels through. When I hold a keen, and so a
- 26:24keen in the way I do it is much more shamanic than its
- 26:27traditional nature. A keen, just like any community
- 26:31practice across time and history, or sorry I should say
- 26:34time and place. They're usually you have
- 26:36indigenous communities that had some sort of grief ritual, a
- 26:39practice that would happen as someone died or at their funeral
- 26:43or wake. So in Ireland you would have
- 26:46these Mona Keensha women, Keeners, Criers Keensha, and
- 26:50they would come wearing all black with their black veils and
- 26:53they would be very performative. Oh, sure, no Mandy.
- 26:56Oh, what a good boy he was. Oh Lord, take him.
- 27:00That was actually a decent accent and I'm not usually.
- 27:03It's. That's not good.
- 27:04South, Southern and IT. Didn't.
- 27:08Happen. They're very performative, and
- 27:09they're wailing and crying and releasing of their own laments
- 27:14and mournful sounds in song. And then in doing so, they would
- 27:19evoke the collective grief from those at the wake.
- 27:22And those people would moan and wail and cry themselves.
- 27:26And then after that three day period, sorry, three day period,
- 27:29people would go and they would be cleansed.
- 27:31They would be like, OK, we grieved.
- 27:33We saw, you know, Sean O'Malley. On his way.
- 27:36To God, to heaven, to Tyrannog, to wherever, right to his
- 27:41lights. And so that practice was largely
- 27:46banned by the church a few 100 years ago, but it was still
- 27:49practiced in small communities. And the last proper banquinta
- 27:53was recorded in I think in the 1940s, nineteen 60s, somewhere
- 27:57in there. And so there's echoes of my
- 27:59grandmother heard of this once. Oh, I.
- 28:02And so now it's resurging as this collective consciousness is
- 28:05rising. There are these Irish
- 28:06practitioners who are starting to teach keening.
- 28:09And so I'm really honored to have learned from one of those
- 28:11few who teaches it less as a singing and more as a shamanic
- 28:17healing. And the way it works is it's a
- 28:20mix of breath, movement, sound, and permission.
- 28:26And then as I channel Bive or aspects of the Marie again, it
- 28:31holds the container of that death and of that love that
- 28:36allows the individual to just let go.
- 28:41And as they do, what is happening is the Goddess is
- 28:45bringing them right back to their inner wild one.
- 28:48And the inner wild one is typically so buried under all
- 28:52the things, right? What we are keening, what we are
- 28:55grieving is how much shit got packed on top.
- 28:59And so we process and feel and release all of that stuff so
- 29:04that it comes to its natural kind of completion.
- 29:07So for some people, it is wailing and screaming and
- 29:10chanting, swaying and moaning and groaning.
- 29:13I mean it. No wonder people were called
- 29:16witches and were terrifying. It's scary looking stuff, but
- 29:20it's actually the most incredible.
- 29:22It is the most incredible situation I've ever been present
- 29:26to witness. I love it, I'm obsessed with it.
- 29:28And then sometimes people are just still because in a life
- 29:32where they are always reacting, their version of resistance or
- 29:36rebellion is stillness. And so they, the individual
- 29:40expresses as they need, and then as the king quiets down, they're
- 29:45in the sacred liminality. This in between with Bive, with
- 29:49the Goddess, and with their inner wildness.
- 29:52And that is something we can never Unsee or unknown.
- 29:56And so like a true psychedelic experience, though this is
- 29:58without any sort of plant medicine.
- 30:00It's again just breath, movement, sound and permission.
- 30:03Once we know that it, it changes everything and for the better
- 30:08because it gets, it tells, it calls the task to get rid of the
- 30:11things that don't serve us, that weren't ever serving us.
- 30:15And it calls in the frequencies and lifestyle and opportunities
- 30:19that align with who we are evolving into.
- 30:22Honestly never heard of Kenyan before until Martha.
- 30:25You just brought that and when you and I were just talking
- 30:28about like the topic for today and I was feeling grief energy
- 30:32that on a personal level just really interesting.
- 30:35It just came up recently. Someone, one of my students
- 30:39actually had a transmission and she felt like she had key codes
- 30:43from me from ancient Egypt timeline.
- 30:48So basically what I'm understanding now that we also
- 30:52went into this descent in the last 12, actually the number I
- 30:57got was 20,000 years when I shared those codes with her is
- 31:01and there was a moment where she got the transmission.
- 31:05She's supposed to give them back to me.
- 31:06And then the whole group was present and witnessing.
- 31:09And as I was integrating this, what came out, which was really
- 31:15unexpected from me after the call later on on my own when I
- 31:18was with my husband, I started wailing and, and and bringing a
- 31:23lot of light language and I wanted to create a somatic
- 31:26kundalini experience with that as well.
- 31:29Different parts of my body were like activated through it and
- 31:32like I had to like that was integration that needed because
- 31:36I think with that there was some sort of release of energy of
- 31:41this 20,000 years. The last when I started seeing
- 31:45that lifetime in ancient Egypt when I gave her those codes and
- 31:50the priesthood. And I think the energy that we
- 31:52held and it was that moment of choice that we made and we knew
- 31:57we were going to go into this time of darkness.
- 32:00And many of us were witches burn on the stake.
- 32:03Like I know I have been happy a lifetime doing some of these
- 32:06practices. Maybe not this one particularly,
- 32:09definitely tinctures and all of that other stuff.
- 32:12And here we are coming out of it.
- 32:14And I was just actually sharing this week with some of my
- 32:16friends. I was like, wow, I didn't expect
- 32:19the grief. Like, I like, where was that
- 32:22coming from? Grief that I did not even know.
- 32:24But it was, it felt like personal but also very much
- 32:28collective grief. And yeah, I wish we had these
- 32:31practices where we could release, where we could
- 32:34reconnect and and that's like soul expression, right?
- 32:38Allowing the sound to come out because that's really how we
- 32:41process energy. And as we hold back and maybe
- 32:45sometimes we need to hold back and just stay with it and just
- 32:48even recognizing that it's there and we don't give ourself
- 32:51permission to fully do that. So I want to share that
- 32:55experience because it was very unexpected, I guess for me, very
- 32:58new, the whole process, but also I felt lighter after.
- 33:02I felt like it needed to happen. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:07And I think that's so beautiful that you went with it rather
- 33:10than this is weird. I shouldn't, of course, you
- 33:12wouldn't have done that anyway. But I think it's beautiful that
- 33:15you did roll with it. Because to your point, yeah,
- 33:18that's 20,000 years of wisdom and esoterisms that were buried
- 33:23and now you found them. You found not only this
- 33:26information, these light language, whatever frequencies
- 33:29that was, but you were able to bring them back to life.
- 33:33And that's a huge part of Keening is that it's not just
- 33:35about the death, It is embracing the death as we embrace winter
- 33:39every year because the earth needs it.
- 33:42We need the death to become the fertile material that then feeds
- 33:48the soil so that in the spring, bulbs have food to regrow and
- 33:52plants can go anew so that life can come back.
- 33:56And it's, I think it's beautiful to to understand grief as a
- 34:01necessary ally in order to become.
- 34:06And what I like to remind people, especially the people
- 34:10who I work with in Keening sessions, is that we're not
- 34:14going through the death process to become someone different.
- 34:17We are going through it and making space so that we can
- 34:20become more ourselves, the ancient one that lives deep
- 34:24within that soul expression, so we can become more of that than
- 34:28ever before. It's incredibly powerful and
- 34:32empowering. Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:35I talk about all the time, but maybe with different language.
- 34:38But I think you and I are talking about the same thing.
- 34:41I always say it's like and peeling the onion, it's like
- 34:44removing those layers and then we get to the essence and the
- 34:47essence is an ancient soul that is beyond the earth, beyond even
- 34:53this Galaxy from another universe and universes and very
- 34:58much connected to the cosmic weather, right?
- 35:01And so there there is that reclamation of the aspects of
- 35:05ourselves and who we are. And so as we remove these layers
- 35:09and we grieve and we burn them through, I like the concept of
- 35:13the Phoenix awakening, the Phoenix within.
- 35:15That's kind of part of the part of my book.
- 35:17It's like the same idea, right? It's like going into the fire
- 35:21and transmuting. And this new version is that you
- 35:25were talking about, that's becoming the version that is
- 35:28stronger, more resilient, and keeps on getting stronger and
- 35:32more resilient in its next iteration, its next iteration.
- 35:37And but we have to also reflect back and be grateful for all
- 35:41these aspects. So all these experiences.
- 35:44And I think that's it sounds like part of the keying process
- 35:47where you like acknowledging the journey too because the journey
- 35:51also. Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 35:55And I think that's a huge part of the healing process is we
- 35:58talk about in psychology, it's about acceptance, right?
- 36:01It doesn't mean like we just accept the past, but it's about
- 36:04giving the mental body the narrative that says we went
- 36:09through this and part of the death process is going back and
- 36:12re parenting in some fashion. So it is revisiting the journey
- 36:16to express and feel, but also to say to those younger versions of
- 36:20ourselves, hey, I see you. I see the context of everything
- 36:24with fresh eyes and I can explain to you why this happened
- 36:28or why this didn't happen or who, how you how this just to
- 36:33make sense of it. And I think that's a huge part
- 36:36of the healing as especially as modern humans is that we know so
- 36:41much. So why not the journey as a part
- 36:43of that healing rather than just letting it be solely somatic or
- 36:47energetic. And and to your point about the
- 36:51phoenix, I yes, absolutely. And this is what I love about
- 36:55core shamanism and as well, just this beautiful integration of
- 36:59the divine and spirit and universal energy within our
- 37:03human is that the answers are right here.
- 37:06We see it every year from spring to winter for the phoenix in
- 37:10that metaphor, death to rebirth. We sometimes the most sacred
- 37:16esoteric concepts are actually very similar.
- 37:19Sorry, simple. And it's simple because we don't
- 37:23need to overcomplicate. We just need to listen and
- 37:26remember. And I think that's part of the
- 37:29challenge of being human is that we are given so much
- 37:33information, so much access, so much creativity, and it's
- 37:38awesome. I'm not maligning any of it.
- 37:41I maligned some of it, but the modern life.
- 37:44But that's a personal thing. It's being, it's the challenge
- 37:47is being given this buffet of experience and then saying, can
- 37:53you remember to listen to the heart, to the intuition, to the
- 37:58Earth, to the cosmos and be guided that way rather than
- 38:02being distracted by all this stuff?
- 38:06It is, it's, it's that simple. But it's not easy.
- 38:09Yeah, not. Easy.
- 38:10Absolutely. Right.
- 38:11Like, how do we listen? I talk about it all the time.
- 38:14The noise is real and it keeps on getting louder and louder and
- 38:19how do we tune it out and being more conscious on what we're
- 38:23digesting, right? Like the information we digest
- 38:26in the food we digest in how do we recalibrate ourselves?
- 38:29So even if we're living in concrete jungles, like, you
- 38:33know, on the weekend, going on to nature for hike or whatever
- 38:36is necessary to bring yourself back to remembrance and create
- 38:40enough spaces to remember. Because otherwise, just like
- 38:44you're running on the rat race and then you get sick and then
- 38:48you get surprised. Why?
- 38:49Like, why am I out of balance? Back to balance.
- 38:53And well, you really can't allow yourself to be in balance.
- 38:57You didn't take those breaks. You didn't listen up to
- 39:00yourself, to your body because it's all there.
- 39:02Like disease too is like the last manifestation of lack of
- 39:07ease. And it happens within the energy
- 39:09system, within the thoughts and ideas.
- 39:13And so I do see people are starting to realize that I think
- 39:16especially with COVID, definitely like more people went
- 39:20indoors and now a lot of new channelers were reborn in the
- 39:26last five years because they've list started listening and then
- 39:29realized, oh wow, I'm this and that and I get to connect.
- 39:33But there are still that population that does not want to
- 39:36listen and they really comfortable in, you know, being
- 39:41in that matrix, so to speak to reality.
- 39:44So from that perspective, I guess from all these ancient
- 39:48traditions, how can someone be compassionate, let's say,
- 39:52because I'm seeing in many of those who are waking up, they
- 39:56have a hard time with their families and not being able to
- 40:00be seen by them when accepted by them as as truly are place what?
- 40:09That's yeah, absolutely the first.
- 40:11I just want to take a breath and see what wants to come through
- 40:13to answer that because I think that is a very true and real and
- 40:18complicated experience that many of us experience.
- 40:21And so I want to answer it. Well, I read a quote once and
- 40:34I'm not going to say it exactly, so I'm paraphrasing, but it was
- 40:37like I celebrate my mother for breaking some of the rules that
- 40:45she was taught, but she didn't break all of them.
- 40:48So it was like I she didn't break all the rules, but she
- 40:49broke some and that got me here. I think when we are awakening,
- 40:56it's there's such a joy, there's such a delight of being like I
- 41:01feel amazing. I remember I feel like I belong
- 41:05to something. I went so long feeling lost or
- 41:08separate or weird. Definitely got a lot of names
- 41:11when I was growing up and it's wonderful.
- 41:15But then we have this desire to scream it from the rooftop and
- 41:18be accepted as we are, and not everyone has the capacity to do
- 41:23that. So when we are faced with people
- 41:26we love who cannot accept or understand and don't want to
- 41:30understand, we start talking about something and they get up
- 41:35and walk away. It's incredibly disrespectful,
- 41:38but if we remember, if we go back to the ancients, if we go
- 41:42back to the truth that everyone's doing the best they
- 41:45can in the moment they're in with the tools that they have.
- 41:49It's not that they are disrespecting us or you,
- 41:52listener, It's that they don't know how to be any different.
- 41:59And by you coming online and showing up with more and
- 42:04different, it calls them to task.
- 42:06It calls them to say, oh, I don't know about this and they
- 42:12have a choice. Do I get curious and ask
- 42:15questions and open my mind or do I default to what I know?
- 42:19To your point, going into the matrix and get and just avoid it
- 42:23because I'm not prepared. It's either not the right time,
- 42:27I don't have the right resources in my life to make me feel safe
- 42:31to then do the inner work that this is calling me to face, or
- 42:36I'm just afraid and I'm going to let fear win.
- 42:39For whatever their reasons. It's personal to them.
- 42:43It's not personal to you. It feels it because it's
- 42:48socially rude and uncomfortable. And in a world we are told
- 42:53family first blood is thicker than water, we are in the
- 42:57generation of unlearning that conditioned belief.
- 43:02And it's hard and it's emotional.
- 43:04And we all deep down are just kids who want to feel safe with
- 43:08the caregivers that we have. But if we can know that and we
- 43:13can say, OK, they're doing the best they can, it's not on them,
- 43:17then we get to then make our own choice.
- 43:19We get to make our sovereign choice.
- 43:22Do we make space to let them just be as they are and realize
- 43:25this is not the area or the Ave. where I get to be my sacred,
- 43:30wild and wonderfully weird self? And I can do that with these
- 43:34other people who are like soul family.
- 43:37I get to be weird with them and be socially normal with these
- 43:42other people. And I know that I, I say, oh, I
- 43:45get to be my spiritual self with this person, my human self with
- 43:48this other person. In truth, I'm always the same
- 43:50person, but sometimes one voice just shines a little bit more.
- 43:54And I've come to get to the point where I appreciate my
- 43:57human groups because it allows me just to take my take a little
- 44:01break. I'm not channeling, I'm not
- 44:03listening compassionately. I can skip over things that are
- 44:07important details because the other individual doesn't really
- 44:09want to talk about them. So instead of being like, Oh my
- 44:11gosh, that's really hard. Let me hold space for you.
- 44:13It's just, oh man, that does stink anyway.
- 44:17And it gives me that space to just be my little human self.
- 44:20And that's OK because that's actually what they want.
- 44:22And it I have found ways to appreciate that for me, but it
- 44:27does give us that sovereign choice of how do we want to show
- 44:30up? How do we want to engage with
- 44:32this person? Or do we let this person or
- 44:34people go? And I know it's hard to let
- 44:37family go. And so I don't necessarily
- 44:39advocate that everyone just says pack in my bags, middle finger,
- 44:42I'll see you later. But for some people to engage
- 44:47who they are becoming to be safe in that evolution, they do have
- 44:51to do that. And I know that spirit will
- 44:55always bring someone, some people, some things to come back
- 45:00and backfill that space because when you move the ocean, water
- 45:05comes up behind it. It's just, it's just a universal
- 45:09law. And so that opening is there.
- 45:12And as long as you hold it with patience and love for the self,
- 45:16Spirit will bring you, the individuals, the collective, the
- 45:20situation that you need to fill that up and to feel good.
- 45:25You really spoke beautifully about that.
- 45:27And then it does go back to safety.
- 45:29And that's a human condition. And of course, we still are
- 45:33humans. And so we still operate with
- 45:36these limited containers of our experiences.
- 45:41But I agree with you. Sometimes we have to disconnect
- 45:45completely, let them go. And those are hard choices.
- 45:48And but this journey of reclamation, of awakening is a
- 45:52solid journey. We are born alone with that
- 45:55alone. And it's really the soul that is
- 45:58learning how to become. And so beautifully said Martha,
- 46:03what's best way someone is interested to work with you?
- 46:06What's the best way to contact you?
- 46:10Yeah, thank you. Oh, I just thought of one more
- 46:12thing. Can I add as a little?
- 46:13Attention to. The last thing, which is
- 46:15sometimes walking away is the very thing that other individual
- 46:19needs to then catalyze their healing journey.
- 46:22And so walking away doesn't always mean gone forever, it
- 46:25just means gone forever and it may come back together in a new
- 46:28way later. So I'll just add that in there
- 46:30'cause that has happened to me and I know or for me rather.
- 46:33And I know that can happen for others as well.
- 46:35OK, so not all is lost. Thank you for the invitation.
- 46:38I would love for people to reach out on me, on me, to me on my
- 46:42website, which is Martha MARTHAMW as in Martha Medicine

- 47:03I don't even know what my name is on there.
- 47:05It's just Martha Wright and on my website and I'm just I'm
- 47:08incredibly chill and real and informal.
- 47:12So if there is ever a desire to reach out, please don't let
- 47:15anything hold you back. Amazing.
- 47:18And I'm going to put the all the links in in the description to
- 47:22this episode. And Martha, as we wrap up, what
- 47:25would you be your final message to the audience as we talked
- 47:30about grief on everything? What do you want everyone to
- 47:33leave with? Love and honor yourself because
- 47:45not in that in in a totally selfish way, it's actually
- 47:48selfless when we honor those intuitive callings from the
- 47:52body, whether it's to feel something and release it or to
- 47:56try something new, to do something different, just loving
- 48:02and honoring yourself is going to bring you joy.
- 48:04So follow the intuition and be good to you, because that's how
- 48:09we can always show up our best selves, as if we start by loving
- 48:12and nurturing, nurturing ourselves.
- 48:15So true loving yourself. So go out there, do something
- 48:20really loving for yourself today, you know, buy yourself
- 48:25that something that you wanted or just take that space for
- 48:29yourself to tune out the noise. Maybe go for a hike, really
- 48:32nourish yourself, do that salt bath, whatever that looks like
- 48:36for you. Bring another practice into the
- 48:38day. Because embodiment is through
- 48:40building practices that allow that space to connect, to be who
- 48:45you are without judgement, right?
- 48:47So building that inner landscape, while external, is
- 48:51also nice and peaceful and relaxed.
- 48:54Beautiful. Thank you, Martha, for being in
- 48:57some communication and thank you everyone for tuning in.
- 49:01And stay tuned for our next episode.
