- 0:07And we're not muted.
- 0:10Look at that.
- 0:21Well, all right.
- 0:22We are live.
- 0:23How about that?
- 0:25It was bad music.
- 0:27I didn't even hear it.
- 0:28I know.
- 0:29It didn't even mute our mics
- 0:30like it's supposed to.
- 0:31Okay.
- 0:33It was just our commentary
- 0:34of the new open.
- 0:36Oh.
- 0:37Next time we'll have the good music on it.
- 0:40Yay.
- 0:41Hey, we're learning.
- 0:42What do you want to do?
- 0:43We are learning.
- 0:45So welcome to the roundtable, everyone.
- 0:48We are here live on a rainy,
- 0:51cold Columbus afternoon.
- 0:54Yeah.
- 0:56Kat had to be a big girl
- 0:58today and go to a meeting,
- 1:00so she is not with us today.
- 1:02But we got stuff to talk about.
- 1:04We do have some stuff to talk about.
- 1:07So what's up with you guys first?
- 1:08And then we'll get into the
- 1:10news of the day.
- 1:11Well, what happened was yesterday,
- 1:14Charlie and I worked out
- 1:15and that workout about killed us.
- 1:17Yes.
- 1:18It about killed me.
- 1:21And today's workout actually
- 1:23was much better than yesterday.
- 1:24I think after reflecting back,
- 1:26would you agree to that, Charlie?
- 1:28I would agree with that.
- 1:29Okay.
- 1:31Terrible.
- 1:33Terrible.
- 1:34So after an appetizer of 50
- 1:37clean and jerks.
- 1:39Okay.
- 1:39Yeah,
- 1:40it was an EMOM five every minute for
- 1:4210 minutes.
- 1:43So, you know,
- 1:45in 10 minutes you're doing 50
- 1:46clean jerks.
- 1:47Then our workout was 15
- 1:50minutes of work of overhead
- 1:54walking lunge with one
- 1:55dumbbell for 50 feet.
- 1:5615 toes at a bar,
- 2:00overhead walking lunge with the left side,
- 2:04then 15 burpee over dumbbells,
- 2:07and then 15 alternating
- 2:10dumbbell snatches.
- 2:12In theory, I looked at that and thought,
- 2:14oh, I like those.
- 2:14Those movements are nice and
- 2:16complimentary.
- 2:16It will be good.
- 2:19I almost quit CrossFit yesterday.
- 2:24I wanted,
- 2:24I was like five minutes in and I was like,
- 2:27I don't even want to do this anymore.
- 2:29I just, I don't want, why do I, why?
- 2:33It was the longest five
- 2:34minutes of my CrossFit life, I think.
- 2:40Yes.
- 2:40Yeah.
- 2:41It was, it was rough.
- 2:45So.
- 2:48Yeah.
- 2:48Yesterday I stayed home.
- 2:51I did Cindy in my basement.
- 2:53Okay.
- 2:55And I, that is not good for me.
- 2:57That is definitely not my strength.
- 3:02But felt good.
- 3:03Felt good.
- 3:06Cindy, you cut out there too early.
- 3:09So we can tell what you said.
- 3:10Okay.
- 3:11Yeah.
- 3:14So I did that yesterday.
- 3:16Today's my rest day.
- 3:17Hopefully it's supposed to warm up,
- 3:19be back at the gym tomorrow.
- 3:22Yep.
- 3:24And on the cold plunging update,
- 3:26by the way,
- 3:26I've been doing it every single day.
- 3:28I think Charlie's still stuck on day one.
- 3:32Sorry, he's done day three.
- 3:34I did day three.
- 3:35Yeah.
- 3:36So it's kind of my plunge is
- 3:40solidified around the
- 3:41circumference of it.
- 3:43And so the last three days
- 3:45I've had to take my hammer
- 3:47and take the chunks out of
- 3:49it so I could fit into it.
- 3:52And yesterday was the worst
- 3:53because I must not have
- 3:55gotten enough far down.
- 3:56So I kind of got in there
- 3:57and then I was like, oh, my God,
- 3:59I think I'm stuck.
- 4:00I think I'm going to be stuck in here.
- 4:01I'm not going to be able to
- 4:02shimmy out because I won't
- 4:04be able to feel anything.
- 4:08Have you felt any benefits?
- 4:10Yes.
- 4:12Like what?
- 4:13My energy levels.
- 4:14I have so much more energy.
- 4:17Cause that's what you needed.
- 4:18Cause I need more energy.
- 4:19I lack energy.
- 4:20No, my recovery,
- 4:21my soreness after workouts
- 4:23has been very minimal.
- 4:26It depends on when I do it.
- 4:30I would love to do it before I work out.
- 4:33But I cannot do it on days
- 4:34that I get up at 4 a.m.
- 4:36to go to the gym because I'm
- 4:37not going to go outside by
- 4:38myself in the dark and cold
- 4:41plunge when there's nobody
- 4:42around that could save my
- 4:43life if I got stuck in there.
- 4:48So.
- 4:484 a.m., your husband's there.
- 4:50But I can't call for him.
- 4:52He's not going to hear me.
- 4:53Put a rock by your thing and
- 4:55throw it up at the window.
- 4:58Ice chunk.
- 4:58I'll just stick an ice chunk.
- 5:00A little boom box over your head.
- 5:03Yeah.
- 5:07Did you hear sleep?
- 5:09How's your sleep?
- 5:10Oh, my sleep, you know,
- 5:15better on days that I don't
- 5:16have to get up early.
- 5:17It's that's just the caveat
- 5:19is I just don't sleep well
- 5:20when I have to wake up early to coach.
- 5:23Just too excited to see Charlie.
- 5:25Yep.
- 5:25I am.
- 5:27And when I don't drink wine.
- 5:28Mm hmm.
- 5:31Or beer, apparently.
- 5:33Or beer.
- 5:37It was funny.
- 5:37I was listening to Athena and Hiller,
- 5:42their first check-in last night.
- 5:45It's really long.
- 5:46I did not get through it all.
- 5:47But...
- 5:50he has her no drinking while
- 5:53she's trying to achieve this goal, um,
- 5:56which is a year.
- 5:58Um, and that,
- 6:00that he said it in a way like
- 6:03no drinking.
- 6:04If you do, then I will not work with you.
- 6:08Okay.
- 6:10It is very, very, um, blunt.
- 6:14Yeah.
- 6:15Um,
- 6:19I have some things in my
- 6:20mind that I want to say,
- 6:22but I want to give it a
- 6:23week or two before.
- 6:24Yeah.
- 6:24You know,
- 6:27like they're in the beginning phases.
- 6:30Let them get together a
- 6:32couple more times before I
- 6:35speak about it.
- 6:36But there's interesting things with it.
- 6:39I thought this would be an
- 6:40interesting experiment.
- 6:41So I'm anxious to see where it goes.
- 6:43Yeah.
- 6:44Agreed.
- 6:46I listened to one and a half
- 6:47speed and still couldn't get through like
- 6:50a lot of it but why is it
- 6:54that long it so it's really
- 6:57it's recapping why they're
- 6:58doing this kind of all the
- 7:00rules that he set forth for
- 7:02her at the beginning um and
- 7:07uh and then they're doing
- 7:10like their check-in with
- 7:12different things and so
- 7:13much has changed for athena
- 7:14that there's there's just a
- 7:16lot to talk through
- 7:19um he has like five rules
- 7:21for her that are absolutes
- 7:23yeah um and they go through
- 7:26that and and all that
- 7:28before they even get to
- 7:29like what she ate how she's
- 7:31feeling but she's already
- 7:32lost 12 and a half pounds
- 7:33right in a week two weeks
- 7:36two weeks yeah that seems
- 7:38aggressive yeah so yeah so
- 7:44we'll see it was interesting
- 7:48One of the big topics I had
- 7:49on the docket was judging.
- 7:52We always rip the judging at
- 7:55different events,
- 7:55and I am one of the biggest
- 7:58culprits for it.
- 8:00Wadapalooza,
- 8:02I thought there were some things.
- 8:03And I said it in a way that
- 8:05I think the event put the
- 8:06judges in a bad position.
- 8:08Okay.
- 8:09Judging strict pull-ups is really hard.
- 8:13You know?
- 8:13Yeah.
- 8:16but i watched the nfl this
- 8:18weekend yeah and their
- 8:22officiating was awful yes
- 8:28and those guys get paid
- 8:29you're pretty good too
- 8:35right yeah so i had this
- 8:37like epiphany like
- 8:40We're right in line with all
- 8:41professional sports because
- 8:44our judges are just as bad
- 8:46as their judges and they're free.
- 8:53So I just wanted to kind of
- 8:55get your guys' thoughts.
- 8:56Charlie, I know you watch a lot of sports.
- 8:58Like everything I watch is bad.
- 9:01Yeah.
- 9:05Yeah.
- 9:06I mean, some of it's really bad though.
- 9:12I feel like with judging,
- 9:14there's a gray line that
- 9:15maybe you... We're talking
- 9:17about strict pull-ups.
- 9:19Okay, is your chin over or not?
- 9:21Is it kind of like... Are
- 9:24your arms... Are you in a full hangout?
- 9:26Yeah, full hang extended.
- 9:28Right.
- 9:30Or did you tell me you have
- 9:32a mobility issue?
- 9:35Some past interference stuff is like, okay,
- 9:38just mug that dude and just
- 9:39didn't even call it.
- 9:41Right.
- 9:41And I mean,
- 9:42isn't there a hold on every
- 9:43single play and they just don't, you know,
- 9:45that that's not called every play.
- 9:47Yes.
- 9:48They could call hold on every play.
- 9:49Right.
- 9:51So it's at their discretion
- 9:52when they call it.
- 9:54But the benefits of an NFL,
- 9:55I was about to say judge is that, um,
- 10:00that they can review.
- 10:04Yeah.
- 10:04They get instant replay even.
- 10:05Right.
- 10:07They get instant replay in hockey.
- 10:09They get instant replay in baseball.
- 10:14There is no luxury for that
- 10:16at a CrossFit event.
- 10:18What it's also created is
- 10:20people complaining too much
- 10:23about stuff that they don't
- 10:25need to complain about.
- 10:30Example,
- 10:30your guy who was over the line
- 10:34when you called him.
- 10:35Again,
- 10:36they remember his name when you were
- 10:37judging Scott.
- 10:39Oh, I know.
- 10:40His foot was over the line
- 10:41and he's arguing.
- 10:46It's not complain.
- 10:51I know who it is,
- 10:51but I'm not going to say.
- 10:53Well, I mean, just in general.
- 10:55Yeah.
- 10:55Yeah.
- 10:56Yeah.
- 10:59Yeah.
- 10:59I mean, I had a guy,
- 11:00his whole body was over the line.
- 11:04And I called no rep and he
- 11:05appealed and complained and
- 11:08did all those things.
- 11:10But yeah, it's,
- 11:13and it's like that in the
- 11:14NFL and soccer and every,
- 11:16like everybody complains
- 11:17after every play.
- 11:17Oh, where's the flag?
- 11:19Where's the flag?
- 11:21Oh, I caught that.
- 11:22You clearly didn't catch that.
- 11:27So I just got some
- 11:29perspective this weekend, and I thought,
- 11:31you know,
- 11:31I sometimes rip the judges in
- 11:35CrossFit and the event
- 11:37organizers for putting them
- 11:38in bad positions,
- 11:40but it's in every sport.
- 11:41Oh, for sure.
- 11:43And you have good judges and
- 11:44good referees and bad
- 11:46judges and bad referees.
- 11:49Well, and I'll tell you who I, you know,
- 11:52I used to be scared to go
- 11:55to sporting events with my
- 11:56husband because he is very
- 11:57vocal and commentary and
- 12:00helpful to the judges.
- 12:02But I'll tell you who I think might,
- 12:04might take the cake over
- 12:05Scott Radowski is it might
- 12:08be Mrs. Lisa Odie.
- 12:14Your own children are like,
- 12:15you can't talk during this entire game.
- 12:20So that's a sight for us to be watching.
- 12:22Well,
- 12:24I've seen her yell at Charlie during
- 12:26open events.
- 12:27Yep.
- 12:28At competitions.
- 12:31Yep.
- 12:32Yeah.
- 12:32I can only imagine at a ref.
- 12:36Oh, it's in basketball too.
- 12:38Oh, it's bad.
- 12:41Yep.
- 12:43Yeah.
- 12:44Yeah.
- 12:45The other thing, my other thought was,
- 12:47and it's a parallel I've seen in CrossFit,
- 12:50a lot of these refs, the good ones,
- 12:52are taking the TV money and
- 12:55leaving the field, right?
- 12:59Yeah.
- 13:00And in CrossFit,
- 13:02the good judges are getting
- 13:03promoted to leads and head
- 13:06judges and working with events.
- 13:10It's kind of taking them off of the...
- 13:13Off of the floor doing the
- 13:14day-to-day stuff.
- 13:16Yeah.
- 13:16And they deserve it.
- 13:18Sure.
- 13:19You know, they did a good job.
- 13:20They should be promoted up.
- 13:22But I think it's leaving a
- 13:24hole in the back.
- 13:27Well, and I have to say, I mean, I...
- 13:30I can't imagine.
- 13:31I think that judging is a high stress job.
- 13:35Um, and it's,
- 13:37it's never where someone's
- 13:39going to be so excited
- 13:41about having you there.
- 13:42And so like, oh, great.
- 13:45Thanks so much.
- 13:46Like they're, you know,
- 13:47now I will say I have seen
- 13:49the Pancheck brothers at
- 13:51every single event that
- 13:53they've attended to go up
- 13:56prior to the event and
- 13:57shake the hands and meet
- 13:59and think they're judges.
- 14:01The panchecks are religious about that,
- 14:04but there are a lot of athletes.
- 14:05There are.
- 14:05I'm just specifically
- 14:07mentioning them because
- 14:08I've consistently seen that.
- 14:11Yeah.
- 14:15So that's my judging piece.
- 14:20I want to talk about Colton.
- 14:23I saw you text Amy.
- 14:25You did.
- 14:26That on Instagram,
- 14:27and I have it pulled up.
- 14:29Let's see it.
- 14:32We've got some local collaboration.
- 14:36We do.
- 14:37So Colton announced on
- 14:38Instagram that this was yesterday,
- 14:41that this is day one with him at Proven.
- 14:46That he has been Kilo 2
- 14:47trained his whole career,
- 14:49and he is now moving to Proven.
- 14:52And his coach is Joey Tutora.
- 14:56who is a Columbus native.
- 14:59I don't think he lives here now.
- 15:00He was in Philly for a minute with OBX.
- 15:05And I don't know if he's
- 15:06moved to Nashville for proven,
- 15:10but super excited for this.
- 15:13And I really think Joey would,
- 15:14is going to be great with Colton.
- 15:18Did Joey used to be a brute athlete?
- 15:24I don't know.
- 15:24I don't know, Charlie.
- 15:27I know him as the owner of
- 15:28CrossFit Grandview, uh,
- 15:31when he was that for a
- 15:32minute here in Columbus.
- 15:34And then with Kelsey and him, I'm sorry,
- 15:41Amy.
- 15:41He was a regional athlete.
- 15:44He's made the games.
- 15:45Oh, okay.
- 15:45Okay.
- 15:47A team on team and once individual,
- 15:50I think.
- 15:51Okay.
- 15:51Okay.
- 15:53Um,
- 15:55But I think his personality
- 15:58is perfect for Colton.
- 16:03And he's one of the most fun
- 16:04guys that I've got to hang
- 16:06out with at competitions.
- 16:08So super stoked for this.
- 16:11And basically,
- 16:13he owned the biggest
- 16:15CrossFit gym here in
- 16:16Columbus for a very long time.
- 16:20Yeah.
- 16:20One of the first CrossFit gyms.
- 16:22Yes.
- 16:23Yes.
- 16:25it was bill Henniger's gym
- 16:26that he sold off and Joey took over.
- 16:31Um, and his wife is a doctor.
- 16:34So he goes where she goes.
- 16:39You can do CrossFit anywhere.
- 16:40Yeah.
- 16:41Turns out.
- 16:44So, yeah, that's exciting.
- 16:46I think that's really cool.
- 16:47Um, and I didn't,
- 16:49I didn't know Joey moved to
- 16:51proven until this announcement.
- 16:53Yeah.
- 16:55because he was on team OBX
- 16:56last year with Kelsey.
- 16:59Oh, yeah.
- 17:01Yeah.
- 17:02So and then next on my list,
- 17:08someone won an award this week.
- 17:11Yep.
- 17:14Charlie.
- 17:15What?
- 17:16Someone won an award this week.
- 17:18He's the people's champ.
- 17:20He's the people's champ in
- 17:21our gym for the month of January.
- 17:23I mean,
- 17:24I've always held the title of
- 17:25people's champ, but... Yeah,
- 17:27but this one was just
- 17:28finally... And... He was annoyed about it,
- 17:34but I think he's very
- 17:36worthy of it because he's
- 17:37been very consistent with
- 17:39his training and he has
- 17:41worked through his recovery
- 17:44from his surgery.
- 17:46And he works a lot smarter now.
- 17:50I feel like...
- 17:51Susan Lucci.
- 17:52I feel like it was in the making.
- 17:57And now it's just one of those.
- 17:59You know what?
- 17:59I guess we'll give it to you now.
- 18:02No.
- 18:02Nope.
- 18:04Nope.
- 18:04I feel that you have matured
- 18:06so much as an athlete.
- 18:08And not just chronologically.
- 18:09I just mean emotionally.
- 18:13Not mentally.
- 18:14Not mentally.
- 18:18There's still things that make them laugh.
- 18:19A lot hot.
- 18:21Yeah.
- 18:21Oh, yeah.
- 18:22But he it was renamed this
- 18:25month and this month only
- 18:26instead of champion athlete
- 18:27to the people's champ.
- 18:30He said that in his caveat
- 18:32that that's what he wanted.
- 18:33And did you notice I did follow through?
- 18:35I did.
- 18:36I did.
- 18:37Yeah.
- 18:38I will remain that until the end of time.
- 18:41You'll be the only people's champ.
- 18:42It's going to go back to
- 18:44champion athletes.
- 18:46My favorite part was you
- 18:49were asked in the feature
- 18:53what your least favorite movement was,
- 18:55and you were basically like all of them.
- 19:00If it's not a push-up,
- 19:01I pretty much hate it.
- 19:02I don't like it.
- 19:03Push-up or bench press, I'm not in.
- 19:05I don't want to do it.
- 19:07Basically, anything that involves CrossFit,
- 19:09I don't want to do it.
- 19:12Yeah, here we are.
- 19:12We're talking about it,
- 19:13and we're doing CrossFit.
- 19:16I want to give you a
- 19:18personal congratulations.
- 19:19That's awesome.
- 19:22I know that's a pretty cool honor there,
- 19:23Shred.
- 19:26I still get the email,
- 19:27so it was cool to see your
- 19:28picture pop up as soon as I
- 19:30opened the email.
- 19:33The second take.
- 19:34The first take, I was asleep.
- 19:37Oh, yeah.
- 19:38I did take a photo and I was like, okay,
- 19:41we got to redo this photo
- 19:42because you definitely look
- 19:43like you just rolled down bed.
- 19:44And he had, but
- 19:46Got him a little more alert.
- 19:49So training is asking a question.
- 19:54Would like to hear you
- 19:55discuss the new call for
- 19:56paid online judging for the game season.
- 19:59Seems like a great
- 20:00development in
- 20:01professionalization of the sport.
- 20:04I have seen that.
- 20:06I think we have actually
- 20:07been touting it as a way to
- 20:10filter the online
- 20:12submissions of workouts.
- 20:15um this group of people to
- 20:17go through them and sort
- 20:18them as good valid or major
- 20:22penalty minor penalty
- 20:24whatever so that crossfit
- 20:25doesn't have to sort
- 20:26through all of them themselves yeah
- 20:30And they did put a call out
- 20:32for people to sign up for this.
- 20:35I did not click on it to see
- 20:37what the qualifications were.
- 20:39If anybody knows,
- 20:40would love to hear what that is.
- 20:42But I think it's a step in
- 20:44the right direction for sure.
- 20:46Did we talk on here about
- 20:48this year's judges course?
- 20:51You said you took it and you
- 20:53really liked the update.
- 20:55Yeah, okay.
- 20:55I couldn't remember if that
- 20:56was you guys I told that to.
- 20:58So any of you listeners,
- 20:59if you have not done this
- 21:00year's judge's course,
- 21:01I was pretty happy with
- 21:04this year's judge's course.
- 21:07Andrew Sten, our resident judge, says,
- 21:10Pat Midge, training and glad to meet you.
- 21:13CrossFit is really vetting online judges,
- 21:15and yes, they are paying.
- 21:18I might be interested.
- 21:21Qualifications are an L1,
- 21:23and they look at your judging experience.
- 21:30So I think that's pretty awesome.
- 21:34Mm-hmm.
- 21:36So the next thing I have is
- 21:38I just got done watching
- 21:40the Rich Froning podcast
- 21:42before we came on the air.
- 21:44And a lot of times when I
- 21:46see something and I say so,
- 21:48I feel like I'm really
- 21:50shitting on whatever it is.
- 21:51And I hate doing that
- 21:53because I know there's a
- 21:54lot of hard work behind things.
- 21:57But man,
- 21:59Angelo DiCicco took shitting on
- 22:01Wadapalooza to a whole new level.
- 22:05to a point where he made this statement.
- 22:07I'm going to play it real quick,
- 22:10and hopefully Mayhem won't
- 22:12ding us for sharing this.
- 22:16So this is Rory basically saying,
- 22:20what a Palooza seems like childbirth with,
- 22:25that women are like,
- 22:25I'm never doing that again.
- 22:27Then a couple months later, like, hey,
- 22:29I'm ready for another kid.
- 22:32And a lot of what a Palooza athletes say,
- 22:33I'm never coming back.
- 22:36And then they end up back
- 22:37there the next year.
- 22:38Yeah, just how, like,
- 22:38I'm never going to do the
- 22:40individual and team competition again,
- 22:42and then they do it.
- 22:44Right.
- 22:45So here is Angela's response.
- 22:48Is it just, like, you do keep going back,
- 22:50so, like,
- 22:51do you think next year
- 22:52somebody's going to be like, oh,
- 22:53I'll be on this, and it's two buddies,
- 22:54and it sounds like a really good time?
- 22:55Like,
- 22:55you think you're going to do it again?
- 22:57If I forget how...
- 23:00horrible it is i want and i
- 23:03even mentioned that i want
- 23:04to do i want everyone to
- 23:04hit me in the nuts i want
- 23:06you to hit me square in the
- 23:07nuts when i say yeah i
- 23:08think i'll do water palooza
- 23:09you know i'll get i'm in
- 23:11yeah yeah i think i'll do
- 23:12or just shoot me in the
- 23:13nuts of the broadhead how
- 23:18about that shoot me in the
- 23:19nuts of the broadhead so
- 23:22apparently angelo does not
- 23:24want to go back to water
- 23:24palooza next year sounds like it yeah
- 23:28I mean,
- 23:28he doesn't really know what he's into,
- 23:30so I assume.
- 23:34He actually takes a long
- 23:36time going through event by
- 23:37event why this year was so
- 23:39bad at Waterpalooza.
- 23:43And it's a great listen if
- 23:45you want to hear.
- 23:46And it's not, you know,
- 23:49the weather can't be controlled.
- 23:51Right.
- 23:52But how you react to it can be.
- 23:54And that's kind of what he's saying.
- 23:57And Rich throughout the
- 23:58podcast is saying it's the
- 24:00best atmosphere.
- 24:02It's the coolest event.
- 24:04If we could just get the
- 24:05programming down and if you
- 24:10pick to go in one direction
- 24:12because of the weather,
- 24:13stick with that direction.
- 24:17um there are times he says
- 24:18that one the gap between
- 24:21they did handstand walks
- 24:22wall walks it was like 72
- 24:25inches he banged his head
- 24:27like three times on the the
- 24:29beam and i heard hopper say
- 24:31the same thing yeah i heard
- 24:33like and it was wet because
- 24:35it was raining so your
- 24:36hands are slipping yeah
- 24:37sure you couldn't do a
- 24:38controlled descent um
- 24:42He said Christoph Horvath
- 24:44had to go to the side
- 24:46because he's six foot four
- 24:48to even be able to do a wall walk.
- 24:50I can imagine Charlie having
- 24:51that same problem.
- 24:52Listen,
- 24:53at what point do we just do the
- 24:55work and not complain about stupid stuff?
- 25:01I thought CrossFit was like
- 25:02we could adjust and adapt to anything.
- 25:04So now we got to be like, well,
- 25:08if this isn't this way and
- 25:09this isn't this way,
- 25:10then I'm going to complain about
- 25:13Okay.
- 25:14Charlie, I'm going to agree with you.
- 25:17Just go.
- 25:18It didn't hurt.
- 25:19Some people seem to be just fine.
- 25:24Everybody fall and hit their head?
- 25:26No.
- 25:32Andrew Stensa did appear.
- 25:34The bar heights were seen low,
- 25:37which is strange since they
- 25:38worked with the PFAA.
- 25:41I think that's what's the
- 25:41crazy thing for me.
- 25:43This was supposed to be a
- 25:44partnership with the PFAA
- 25:46and Wadapalooza.
- 25:48And now you're getting more
- 25:49complaints about safety
- 25:50concerns than when PFA wasn't there.
- 25:53Hmm.
- 25:57Interesting.
- 26:00So, who knows?
- 26:03Everybody's different heights.
- 26:04You can't do everything
- 26:05perfect for everybody.
- 26:08The reason I really found
- 26:09the Angelo thing funny is
- 26:11I've heard that from a lot
- 26:12of athletes that I talk to
- 26:13when I'm there.
- 26:14When I was at Wadapalooza in the past,
- 26:17I would see them and they're like,
- 26:18I'm not coming back next year.
- 26:21You know, this is a shit show.
- 26:23I'm not coming back.
- 26:24And every year they come back.
- 26:26Right.
- 26:26Nobody makes you to come back.
- 26:29So...
- 26:33We'll put somebody up in 14th place.
- 26:36It's fine.
- 26:42Oh, boy.
- 26:44Wow.
- 26:45Charlie's turned into the grumpy old man.
- 26:47The people's champ is fired up.
- 26:50Yeah, give him an award, man,
- 26:52and he's getting all puffy.
- 26:54It's like, stop your complaining.
- 26:56Just get to work.
- 26:57Let me work.
- 26:57There you go.
- 27:01Well,
- 27:02the sun was in my eyes because we
- 27:03went at four o'clock,
- 27:05which changes to two o'clock.
- 27:13I think sun in my eyes and
- 27:15banging my head off of the
- 27:16rig post are two different things.
- 27:19Show more athleticism.
- 27:21There's that too.
- 27:26Wow.
- 27:28New event director for Guadalupalooza,
- 27:30Charlie Odie.
- 27:32I'd just throw them right out.
- 27:34Oh, is that right?
- 27:35Get out.
- 27:35You're done.
- 27:37You've been withdrawn.
- 27:42Well, on that note,
- 27:43I do want to end with a positive today.
- 27:46And that is,
- 27:47if you have not seen the
- 27:48interview with Denise Moore
- 27:50that I did on Sunday,
- 27:52got to check it out.
- 27:54It totally surprised me,
- 27:55caught me off guard.
- 27:57We had a long conversation.
- 27:59None of it was in my notes.
- 28:01Denise was a breast cancer
- 28:02survivor who went on to
- 28:05make the games afterwards.
- 28:07But she also had
- 28:08reconstructive surgery
- 28:10through it and got sick
- 28:12from the implants.
- 28:14I hear a lot about that.
- 28:17She had kidneys that started to fail her,
- 28:21got super sick, had them removed,
- 28:24talked about how they
- 28:25insert them by cutting the
- 28:27pec muscle and how that has
- 28:28affected her to this day,
- 28:31where push-ups are harder for her.
- 28:36And it's one of the best interviews I've,
- 28:39I think we've ever done
- 28:41just because of her in the subject matter,
- 28:44what she's overcome.
- 28:46She won legends this year,
- 28:4765 plus after all of this.
- 28:52But it's such a cool story.
- 29:00And Holly says such a good interview.
- 29:02She's amazing.
- 29:06But it was really good.
- 29:06So I highly recommend that.
- 29:08It's out there live on YouTube now.
- 29:10She's such a fighter and you
- 29:12should really check it out.
- 29:14And I think she's going to do well.
- 29:15This is her first year in the 65 plus.
- 29:21So this is her go time.
- 29:23The only thing is that she
- 29:26is the exact same age as Susan Clark,
- 29:28who has won the games like
- 29:31four bazillion times.
- 29:35So she has to fight with her,
- 29:37but she's going to give it a go.
- 29:40And with that, that's all I got, guys.
- 29:45Got anything else before we head out?
- 29:46Yeah,
- 29:46I'm going to leave you guys with this
- 29:48question that I asked in my
- 29:50class because we did
- 29:50thruster today and it was rough.
- 29:53And so I said, here's a would you rather.
- 29:56Would you rather,
- 29:57and we can't ask a bunch of
- 29:59caveat questions like, well,
- 30:00it depends on the, this,
- 30:01just would you rather this or that?
- 30:04Would you rather do
- 30:05thrusters or devil's pressed?
- 30:16Thrusters.
- 30:18Yeah, I think I said thrusters too,
- 30:20but I see the thrusters to
- 30:22me are also the devil.
- 30:24And so that's why it was hard.
- 30:28I forget what you said today, Charlie.
- 30:30Thrusters?
- 30:32Yes, because I don't want to do a burpee.
- 30:34Yeah.
- 30:36But the thing with the
- 30:37burpee is you can lay on the ground.
- 30:38I mean,
- 30:39the movement doesn't have to keep
- 30:40going until you get up off the ground.
- 30:43With a thruster, like you're in motion.
- 30:45You got to keep going.
- 30:48Mine are typically too zombie,
- 30:50but I was keeping it clean for the show.
- 30:53All right, guys.
- 30:58Well, it's been a fun half hour.
- 31:00I know, Amy, you've got a meeting.
- 31:02I do.
- 31:04We will check you all next week.
- 31:07Check the time.
- 31:08We may have to adjust a
- 31:09little bit for Kat's new schedule,
- 31:12but we will see you all
- 31:13next week on the Clydesdale
- 31:15Media Roundtable.
- 31:17with a working opening next week.
- 31:19Bye guys.
