Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Our buddy Trey Wingo joins us. The OG Football Show
- 0:13Speaker 1: and the Wingo Network as well. All the bills are paid, Trey. Yes,
- 0:17Speaker 1: we're good.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Things seem to be working. Things are good, Stu. Thanks
- 0:22Speaker 3: very much.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We've been asking this question for a long time. All
- 0:27Speaker 1: the way back to my days with Dan. We asked
- 0:29Speaker 1: it every single year. Are the Raiders for real? Trey,
- 0:33Speaker 1: are the Raiders for real?
- 0:35Speaker 4: I think they're way better than I thought they were
- 0:37Speaker 4: going to be this year. I thought they would make improvements.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:40Speaker 4: But I didn't think they'd come out of the gate
- 0:41Speaker 4: this strong. Now, I do feel like yesterday, or Sunday's
- 0:47Speaker 4: game against the Chiefs, they kind of treated it like
- 0:49Speaker 4: their Super Bowl. So now I'm curious to see what
- 0:53Speaker 4: happens now. Because, you know, they held the ball for, what,
- 0:56Speaker 4: almost 10 more minutes? Yes. Her cousins threw for 360-plus
- 1:00Speaker 4: yards without a wide receiver. I mean, everyone knows it
- 1:03Speaker 4: was going to the tight ends and the running backs,
- 1:04Speaker 4: and they still got it to the tight ends and
- 1:06Speaker 4: the running backs.
- 1:07Speaker 3: But they got.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Punched in the mouth by the best signing in the offseason,
- 1:10Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker, and the Chiefs do what the Chiefs do.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I mean, in the Patrick Mahomes era, when he starts,
- 1:16Speaker 4: the Chiefs are 20-3. on the road in the AFC West.
- 1:20Speaker 4: That is the best road division record.
- 1:22Speaker 3: In NFL history.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Look, I think the Raiders are building in the right direction.
- 1:27Speaker 4: I certainly feel better about the Raiders than I do
- 1:28Speaker 4: the Chargers now, for sure. But if you look at
- 1:32Speaker 4: their schedule going forward, the next four or five weeks
- 1:35Speaker 4: will determine how good the Raiders really are.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Trey, with that Raiders-Chiefs game, it felt like a ball-doesn't-lie
- 1:41Speaker 5: scenario when Kirk Cousins throws that interception because the NFL,
- 1:45Speaker 5: for some reason, didn't use replay assist on that big play.
- 1:48Speaker 5: that moved the field for the Raiders. What would the
- 1:52Speaker 5: narrative have been if they didn't review that and then
- 1:56Speaker 5: the Raiders somehow went on to win that game?
- 2:02Speaker 4: No, it would have been like, well, for example, let's
- 2:06Speaker 4: put it this way. If they had ruled that correctly
- 2:09Speaker 4: and it was clearly not a catch, all you would
- 2:11Speaker 4: hear was, oh, there.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Go the refs helping the Chiefs again.
- 2:16Speaker 4: It's the most tired narrative that I can ever think
- 2:18Speaker 4: of because, like you said, that ball was clearly not caught.
- 2:21Speaker 4: And by the way, in another throw down the field, clearly,
- 2:24Speaker 4: I can't remember if it was Royals or Tyquan Thornton
- 2:27Speaker 4: before his ankle went away, no human ankle should go.
- 2:30Speaker 3: There was clear interference, and they didn't call it.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I'm thankful that they didn't reverse it because at the
- 2:35Speaker 4: end of the day, if they had that stupid, tired
- 2:38Speaker 4: narrative of the refs helping the chief, which.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Statistically is shown to be incorrect.
- 2:43Speaker 4: In every way, every season would have resurrected itself. But
- 2:47Speaker 4: I will say this, like I hate taking points off
- 2:50Speaker 4: the board.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And Clint Kubiak did that.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:54Speaker 3: On a fourth and a long, it was almost fourth
- 2:57Speaker 3: and three.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It was fourth and two and three quarters. Okay.
- 3:01Speaker 4: And the final score of that game was 30 to 27.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Take the points. I do not understand this infatuation through
- 3:08Speaker 4: the NFL with these guys that think a field goal
- 3:10Speaker 4: is the Ebola virus. I do not understand it. And
- 3:14Speaker 4: I just think it's going to eventually come back to
- 3:15Speaker 4: haunt people like it did Sunday for Clint Kubiak.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Take the points and we might be headed to overtime.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Trey, with all that being said, the injury to the
- 3:24Speaker 1: wide receiver, do you expect, because Drew Rosenhaus came out
- 3:27Speaker 1: today and said he's going to start talking to teams
- 3:29Speaker 1: about Tariq Hill, and by talking to teams, he means
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm going to start talking to Andy Reid about Tariq Hill.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Do you expect Tariq Hill to be in a Kansas
- 3:36Speaker 1: City uniform next weekend?
- 3:39Speaker 4: No, I don't think he's ready to play until November,
- 3:41Speaker 4: but I think he will play for the Kansas City Chiefs. Look,
- 3:45Speaker 4: when this all went down in the offseason, I mean,
- 3:49Speaker 4: this was, everyone knew this was coming.
- 3:52Speaker 3: At some point, the Chiefs are going to sign Tyreek Hill.
- 3:55Speaker 4: And I think whenever they think he's healthy to play,
- 3:58Speaker 4: and I think it will be towards the back end
- 4:01Speaker 4: of October or if not November, he's absolutely going to
- 4:04Speaker 4: sign with the Chiefs because I think it's the only
- 4:05Speaker 4: place he wants to go. If you look at his
- 4:08Speaker 4: social feeds, he's making it pretty– I mean, talk about
- 4:10Speaker 4: a thirst trap. Tyreek's thirst trap for Kansas City is
- 4:13Speaker 4: the way most people look at Kansas City barbecue.
- 4:16Speaker 3: He is all in on this idea.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And I think it's great.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Now, the bye comes at a good time for the
- 4:22Speaker 4: Chiefs because I think Rashi Rice was just a slight
- 4:25Speaker 4: hamstring pull, so I don't think there's any lingering questions
- 4:28Speaker 4: about him going forward.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Obviously, Thornton's going to be out sometime.
- 4:30Speaker 4: The weirdest thing about that, I don't know if you
- 4:32Speaker 4: read the recap, like, oh, a dislocated ankle. They popped
- 4:35Speaker 4: it back in place, and he flew home with Kansas City.
- 4:38Speaker 4: It's reminiscent of Tony Finau the first year he played
- 4:41Speaker 4: at the Masters. He had a hole-in-one on the par-3 contest,
- 4:44Speaker 4: running out of the thing, his ankle just goes, and
- 4:46Speaker 4: he just popped it back in place and then went
- 4:48Speaker 4: on to play four rounds and finished top 10 at
- 4:50Speaker 4: the Masters. I think that Taekwon's going to miss some time,
- 4:56Speaker 4: but I think that Rashi Rice is back, and you
- 4:58Speaker 4: saw Xavier Worthy get involved.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Guys, the Chiefs are still really good.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And the Kenneth Walker signing. You look at the numbers.
- 5:06Speaker 3: The Kenneth Walker thing is ridiculous. He's on pace.
- 5:09Speaker 4: And I don't think it's going to last, but he's
- 5:11Speaker 4: on pace to break Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record right now.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Crazy, yes.
- 5:14Speaker 4: He has the most rushing yards through five games than
- 5:17Speaker 4: any running back anywhere over the last 15 years. And
- 5:22Speaker 4: if the Chiefs have a running game, here's how much
- 5:25Speaker 4: it helps Patrick Mahomes. Through four games, Patrick Mahomes is
- 5:29Speaker 4: averaging 11.1 yards per attempt, which is number one in
- 5:33Speaker 4: the NFL. Last season, he averaged five yards per attempt.
- 5:37Speaker 4: that was worst in the NFL. That's what a running
- 5:39Speaker 4: game does to you.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Trey, I feel like the biggest surprise this NFL or
- 5:44Speaker 5: this past week was the Panthers winning on Sunday night
- 5:46Speaker 5: football against the lions with the Panthers depleted secondary. Do
- 5:50Speaker 5: you think Sunday night football taught us more about the
- 5:53Speaker 5: Panthers or the lions?
- 5:55Speaker 4: Well, I think it, I mean, look, I love the
- 5:57Speaker 4: Panthers and you know, Bryce young leads the NFL in
- 5:59Speaker 4: passing yards, which is not a thing I thought I
- 6:01Speaker 4: would say four games into the season, but.
- 6:03Speaker 3: I think it, Clearly tells us more about Detroit.
- 6:06Speaker 4: And to give you some perspective on that, this is
- 6:08Speaker 4: how bad Detroit has been. The most points per game
- 6:12Speaker 4: allowed in a season in the last 40 years. The
- 6:13Speaker 4: 2020 Lions, they averaged 32.4. The 2008 Lions, when they
- 6:15Speaker 4: went 0-16, 32.3. The 2026 Lions, 31.8 through four games.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Call them the E-Troit Lions because there is no D.
- 6:18Speaker 4: There is no D in Detroit. And, like, for example,
- 6:32Speaker 4: Jared Goff is the first quarterback ever to throw for
- 6:35Speaker 4: over 1,200 yards and four touchdown passes and no interceptions
- 6:39Speaker 4: and have a losing record. So if you're wondering why
- 6:42Speaker 4: I never say quarterback wins is a stat, because he's
- 6:46Speaker 4: doing great.
- 6:47Speaker 3: There is nothing on the other side of the football.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Not taking anything away from Teatro McMillan and everything that the–
- 6:53Speaker 4: and Bryce Young and everything the Panthers are doing.
- 6:55Speaker 3: There is no defense in Detroit.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Zero.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Zero.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Taylor, put it on the poll, please.
- 7:00Speaker 1: At Stigat790 on X, should we call the Detroit Lions
- 7:03Speaker 1: the E-Troit Lions?
- 7:06Speaker 2: I love it. Go ahead, Mikey.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Trey, when you look at the standings, you see some
- 7:12Speaker 6: familiar faces up at the top. But on the bottom,
- 7:15Speaker 6: I'm looking at Houston, L.A., and Tampa all sitting at 0-4.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Miami and Tennessee we kind of expected. Which one of
- 7:21Speaker 6: those surprises you the most?
- 7:23Speaker 3: Honestly, I would say Houston.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I was not a huge– everyone was buying into the
- 7:27Speaker 4: Chargers and this odd couple marriage between Jim Harbaugh and
- 7:31Speaker 4: Mike McDaniel.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Oh, this is so great. No, it's a disaster. It's
- 7:34Speaker 3: an absolute disaster.
- 7:36Speaker 4: And, look, I thought the Chargers would be better, but
- 7:39Speaker 4: I never thought they were going to be some sort
- 7:40Speaker 4: of juggernaut. The Texans, I really thought, had a chance
- 7:43Speaker 4: to be the number one seed in the AFC because
- 7:45Speaker 4: of that defense. And that defense has been torched, absolutely destroyed.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I mean, CeeDee Lamb had 17 receptions. That's the most
- 7:54Speaker 4: in Cowboys franchise history. And keep in mind, the Cowboys
- 7:56Speaker 4: franchise has six Hall of Fame wide receivers on their roster.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And he has the most against that Houston defense. Look, C.J.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Stroud is actually playing pretty well outside of the two
- 8:08Speaker 4: fumbles in the game against Buffalo. If they win that
- 8:12Speaker 4: game first week of the season, who knows how much
- 8:15Speaker 4: different things are. But right now they're trying to do
- 8:17Speaker 4: something the 92 Chargers have done. Start 0-4 and make
- 8:21Speaker 4: the postseason. So I would say I really thought C.J.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Stroud playing, betting on himself because he turned down that
- 8:27Speaker 3: contract extension.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And with the defense they had, if you would have
- 8:30Speaker 4: told me they would have been 0-4, I would have said,
- 8:32Speaker 4: not a chance in hell.
- 8:33Speaker 3: That is the most surprising to me.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Trey, I spent the entire week last week making fun
- 8:38Speaker 1: of Drake May, that he forgot how to play football,
- 8:40Speaker 1: the position of quarterback.
- 8:41Speaker 2: He's lost all his confidence. He got it back in
- 8:43Speaker 2: one week against Buffalo.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I mean, kind of. Like, kind of.
- 8:48Speaker 4: He played good, Trey. He played well. The interception was
- 8:52Speaker 4: not his fault. I mean, that's on Romeo Dobbs. That
- 8:54Speaker 4: ball just goes up in the air, and it's an
- 8:56Speaker 4: easy interception. The fumble was on Drake. He played better,
- 8:59Speaker 4: but we need to see more of this. Actually, the
- 9:02Speaker 4: bigger concern for me coming out of that game is
- 9:04Speaker 4: as well as Josh Allen played the first two weeks,
- 9:07Speaker 4: he has been turnover city the last two weeks. That's
- 9:11Speaker 4: the most disappointing game to me this week was the
- 9:15Speaker 4: way Buffalo just– they could have buried New England– they
- 9:19Speaker 4: could have really staked their claim for the division and
- 9:23Speaker 4: continued the, because.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You know, when doubts creep in, it's like the yips
- 9:27Speaker 3: and putting.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Like, you don't want to stand over a ball and think,
- 9:29Speaker 4: can I do this?
- 9:30Speaker 3: Are you sure I can do this? I feel that
- 9:33Speaker 3: every time I play.
- 9:34Speaker 4: So I think if they had been able to somehow
- 9:37Speaker 4: just pound Drake May into submission... Then we'd have a
- 9:39Speaker 4: full crisis in New England. It's still not great, but
- 9:43Speaker 4: it's better. But Buffalo, to lose that game at home,
- 9:47Speaker 4: and Josh Allen, I think, has one touchdown and four
- 9:49Speaker 4: turnovers or four interceptions in the last couple of weeks.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Buffalo's defense is a problem. They're going to score points,
- 9:56Speaker 4: but Buffalo's defense is officially a very big problem for
- 9:58Speaker 4: the Bills. Bob?
- 10:00Speaker 3: Did.
- 10:00Speaker 2: New England avoided a full crisis. You're right. There is
- 10:03Speaker 2: a full crisis going on right now in Philadelphia.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Correct.
- 10:08Speaker 1: They want Sirianni out. He's been to two Super Bowls.
- 10:11Speaker 1: He's won two-thirds of his games, and no one is
- 10:13Speaker 1: happy there.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Well, two years ago, they started 2-2, and then they
- 10:18Speaker 4: lost one game the rest of the way. But that's
- 10:21Speaker 4: with a healthy Saquon and a younger offensive line than
- 10:24Speaker 4: when you had Devontae Smith and A.J.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Brown.
- 10:26Speaker 2: A.J.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Brown is now on IR in New England.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Devontae Smith did not play yesterday, and Saquon went out early.
- 10:32Speaker 4: You can't overlook that. The bigger issue for me is
- 10:35Speaker 4: some of the decisions that they decided to make in
- 10:38Speaker 4: that game. they should have gotten some points out of
- 10:42Speaker 4: that drive late that would have made it a very
- 10:44Speaker 4: difficult game to come back on for the Rams.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I think at one point– by the way, I hate
- 10:49Speaker 3: this stat.
- 10:50Speaker 4: They had a 2.5% chance to win, and then they
- 10:53Speaker 4: somehow win.
- 10:53Speaker 3: I see that all the time. They only had a 15%
- 10:55Speaker 3: chance to win, and they win. That stat sucks. Okay,
- 10:58Speaker 3: let's just throw that one out.
- 11:00Speaker 4: That stat is the worst because every week, oh, my God,
- 11:03Speaker 4: that team had a 90-something chance to win, and they lost.
- 11:05Speaker 3: It is the worst metric of all time.
- 11:08Speaker 4: But I think there was some serious questioning of the coaches'
- 11:11Speaker 4: decisions and play calling.
- 11:12Speaker 5: In that game.
- 11:14Speaker 4: And then the Eagles set a franchise record that no
- 11:17Speaker 4: one wants. They were 0 for 12 on third down.
- 11:19Speaker 4: That's the worst in franchise history. They didn't convert a
- 11:22Speaker 4: single third down in that game. There are real problems,
- 11:24Speaker 4: especially if Devontae Smith's going to be out. And remember,
- 11:27Speaker 4: they were all in on, we said this before, I
- 11:30Speaker 4: think with you guys, this is a big season.
- 11:31Speaker 3: For Jalen Hurts. And they basically said, A.J.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Brown, get the hell out of here. We're going to
- 11:36Speaker 4: believe in you and Devontae Smith and Saquon. And now
- 11:38Speaker 4: Devontae was hurt. And Saquon has not been the same
- 11:41Speaker 4: since that 2,000-yard season. And Jalen needs to be a
- 11:44Speaker 4: little more proactive in his decision-making, for lack of a
- 11:48Speaker 4: better term. There were open receivers that he just didn't
- 11:51Speaker 4: see and miss. When you look at the tape, there
- 11:54Speaker 4: were a couple of throws that if he had found
- 11:56Speaker 4: them right away, they were there for him.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He just didn't find them right away.
- 11:59Speaker 5: Trey, teams that start 4-0 have made the playoffs 100%
- 12:02Speaker 5: of the time since 2020. Are you buying the Vikings
- 12:06Speaker 5: as a legitimate playoff team?
- 12:09Speaker 4: I am because I'm not sure anybody else in that
- 12:13Speaker 4: division is really good. We just talked about Detroit. Green Bay,
- 12:18Speaker 4: I think, is a mess. It basically comes down to
- 12:21Speaker 4: Chicago and Minnesota. They've already won the road game in Chicago. Look,
- 12:27Speaker 4: There's a number on them.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I've got to find it. Hold on.
- 12:30Speaker 4: But it goes to your point of just how crazy
- 12:34Speaker 4: the stats are for what this team.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Is able to do. I think it's right here.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Hold on.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Let me find it. I know this is great theater here.
- 12:42Speaker 1: No, it is.
- 12:43Speaker 4: It is.
- 12:43Speaker 2: No, I've been waiting. This is the Viking stat I've
- 12:46Speaker 2: wanted my entire life. Oh, God.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Where is it? They're like the first team ever.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I think I have it if you want it.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Win three games and have less than 250 yards of
- 12:58Speaker 4: total offense.
- 12:59Speaker 3: It's insane how bad they are.
- 13:01Speaker 2: How long ago, Taylor, could you have bailed Trey out there?
- 13:04Speaker 3: Here it is.
- 13:05Speaker 4: The Vikings are the second team in the last 90
- 13:07Speaker 4: years to win three straight games in a season where
- 13:10Speaker 4: they score one or fewer scrimmage touchdowns across the three games.
- 13:13Speaker 3: That's what it is.
- 13:14Speaker 4: The second team in 90 years to win three straight
- 13:16Speaker 4: games when scoring one or few scrimmage touchdowns. Brian Flores
- 13:20Speaker 4: is going to keep them in games. He blitzes at
- 13:22Speaker 4: about an 82% rate, which is insanity. But because I
- 13:26Speaker 4: think Detroit is not as good and Green Bay has
- 13:28Speaker 4: fallen apart, yeah, I can see the Vikings and the
- 13:32Speaker 4: Bears being the two teams that get in from the
- 13:34Speaker 4: NFC North.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Stugatz here. You guys know me.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm watching sports all weekend anyway, and there's nothing better

- 14:52Speaker 1: Trey, you know how this works, this sports media game
- 14:55Speaker 1: where you're talking football on a Monday morning and you
- 14:57Speaker 1: have no idea an argument's going to break out over
- 15:00Speaker 1: whether or not Kirk Cousins is a Hall of Famer.
- 15:03Speaker 2: So I ask.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You, it's not a place I thought I'd stop at
- 15:13Speaker 1: this morning after a great football weekend, but is Kirk
- 15:16Speaker 1: Cousins a Hall of Famer?
- 15:18Speaker 3: No.
- 15:18Speaker 2: What?
- 15:20Speaker 1: No.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Thank you, Trey.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I mean.
- 15:21Speaker 3: I don't think it's even... I like Kirk a lot. Right.
- 15:24Speaker 3: He's a Hall of Famer in the terms of business. Okay. But, like,
- 15:29Speaker 3: for you, who is the ring counter of all ring counters.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yes. Right? Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Show me with the postseason. You're right. Like, where is it?
- 15:39Speaker 4: I can't.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Like, I love Kirk. He's been amazing. He's had longevity.
- 15:42Speaker 3: He's smart. But, like, the results in the postseason are catastrophic.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You're right.
- 15:47Speaker 3: So that alone, I think, unless... Unless he wins the
- 15:51Speaker 3: Super Bowl this year, I don't think there's a chance
- 15:53Speaker 3: in hell he makes the postseason.
- 15:55Speaker 1: The guy is one deep playoff run away from making
- 15:57Speaker 1: it to the Hall of Fame is what we're saying.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I'm saying I think he has a snowball's chance in
- 16:02Speaker 4: hell if he wins the postseason. He has a 0%
- 16:05Speaker 4: chance right now.
- 16:08Speaker 3: 0% chance.
- 16:08Speaker 2: The stats are good, though. Anyway, go ahead, Taylor.
- 16:12Speaker 3: That's incredible.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yes. No wins in the postseason.
- 16:15Speaker 3: You're right. Yes.
- 16:15Speaker 5: Trey, can you help us settle another debate? Because last week,
- 16:18Speaker 5: I think Mikey got caught up being prisoner of the
- 16:21Speaker 5: moment talking about Drake May. He said that the Broncos
- 16:24Speaker 5: wouldn't trade Bo Nix for Drake May straight up. And
- 16:27Speaker 5: it feels like now looking back on that, like you
- 16:29Speaker 5: take Drake May every time.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I don't think so. Wow.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I don't think so. You think the Broncos say no.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Listen, I like... Here's a number for you, okay? We'll
- 16:42Speaker 3: do this one. You'll like this, okay? This is another
- 16:48Speaker 3: interesting one for me.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Over the weekend, Joe Burrow, who we all agree is
- 16:54Speaker 4: one of the best quarterbacks in football, right? Yes. He
- 16:58Speaker 4: fell to 1-35 as a starting quarterback when his team
- 17:03Speaker 4: is trailing with eight minutes to play in.
- 17:04Speaker 3: The fourth quarter. That's amazing. And you can say.
- 17:06Speaker 4: you can say, well, you know, there's this and that
- 17:08Speaker 4: and all that kind of stuff. And the defense plays,
- 17:10Speaker 4: and I agree, all that kind of stuff matters, but
- 17:12Speaker 4: one in 35, like, you know, and he drove down
- 17:15Speaker 4: the field again and came up one yard short on
- 17:16Speaker 4: the fourth down play against the Jags. Put that in perspective.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Josh Allen is 15 and 42, uh, in those situations.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Now 15 and 43 after, after yesterday, Lamar Jackson is
- 17:27Speaker 4: now 11 and 33. Patrick Mahomes is 17 and 35.
- 17:32Speaker 4: And Bo Nix is actually have a better, has a
- 17:34Speaker 4: better winning percentage. than all those guys in a much
- 17:37Speaker 4: smaller sample, but like Bo Nix. I mean, like I
- 17:41Speaker 4: saw something, but if I die, uh, bury me in
- 17:44Speaker 4: a Bo Nix Jersey, cause I might come back.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I mean like that's, he has Bo Nix. I would not,
- 17:51Speaker 3: I would not trade Drake Bo Nix for Drake May.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Not a chance.
- 17:56Speaker 2: No way.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I'm sticking with Bo Nix.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Wow.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I can't believe that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Well, Taylor thought he had you. I thought I had
- 18:01Speaker 2: an ally because.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Nobody has been more railing against the ESPN win probability metric.
- 18:08Speaker 5: So once you were on my side for there. That's
- 18:10Speaker 5: why I was kind of heat-checking, saying, oh, I know
- 18:12Speaker 5: Trey's going to be on my side.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Not a chance in hell. Not a snowball's chance in hell.
- 18:20Speaker 4: The Patriots' schedule last season was the easiest since 1999.
- 18:23Speaker 4: It was the easiest schedule in 26 years, and they
- 18:28Speaker 4: benefited from it. And look at the teams they played
- 18:30Speaker 4: in the playoffs. Playoff Justin Herbert, we all know how
- 18:33Speaker 4: that goes.
- 18:34Speaker 3: C.J.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Stroud was the next round, who had five fumbles and
- 18:37Speaker 4: five interceptions in two games. And then they got The
- 18:40Speaker 4: Broncos with their backup quarterback with Bo Nix out. That
- 18:42Speaker 4: is the easiest run facing quarterbacks in the playoffs I've
- 18:46Speaker 4: ever seen anybody have to go up against. And they
- 18:49Speaker 4: benefited from it.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Hey, Taylor.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Hey, Taylor.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Straight facts, homie. Just saying. You, you're good.
- 18:59Speaker 6: Catch it on the Wingo Podcast Network. Trey, you do
- 19:03Speaker 6: a podcast, the OG football show with Damian Woody, who
- 19:08Speaker 6: is a good friend of Aaron Glenn. And I think
- 19:12Speaker 6: we have now seen everything we can possibly see from
- 19:16Speaker 6: Aaron Glenn as the Jets head coach.
- 19:18Speaker 3: I think we know what he is.
- 19:19Speaker 6: I think he's got four wins in two years, and
- 19:22Speaker 6: you can blame the quarterback all you want, but he
- 19:25Speaker 6: lost to Tyson Bajent this week. Give me a reason
- 19:30Speaker 6: why he should stay as the Jets head coach.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Yeah, he'll probably last the season, but to your point
- 19:37Speaker 4: about the Tyson Bajent thing, did you look at the numbers?
- 19:42Speaker 4: The Bears had 34 first downs. The Jets had 32 plays.
- 19:48Speaker 3: They had more.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Had more first downs than the Jets had plays. It
- 19:53Speaker 3: was 89 plays to 32. How that game was only
- 19:56Speaker 3: 23 to 12, I have no idea.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Amazing.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I blame that on Tyson Bajent, quite frankly.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I think they had 37 first and goal– Goal line
- 20:08Speaker 4: plays in the first quarter alone. So I give the Jets'
- 20:11Speaker 4: defense a lot of credit, but there's just not a
- 20:13Speaker 4: lot going on. And Geno Smith, the sequel, the sequel
- 20:17Speaker 4: is not as good as Geno Smith, the sequel in Seattle.
- 20:21Speaker 4: They're in many ways kind of like the Dolphins. Players
- 20:25Speaker 4: can't tank. Organizations can tank.
- 20:29Speaker 6: Trey, the Jets had the ball for 45 seconds in
- 20:32Speaker 6: the fourth quarter.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Outscored them.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:34Speaker 2: 45 seconds.
- 20:36Speaker 1: They made the most out of those 45, though. I mean,
- 20:38Speaker 1: we all like.
- 20:40Speaker 3: To make the most out of those 45 seconds.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Hey!
- 20:42Speaker 2: Trey, I don't know. That long, huh?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Trey, I don't know if you follow. Matthew Perry, life
- 20:49Speaker 3: of friends. That long, you can do it twice.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Trey, I don't know if you follow Virginia Tech football,
- 20:54Speaker 5: but I think that's what the Jets should do, where
- 20:56Speaker 5: Virginia Tech had Brent Prye as their head coach. They
- 20:59Speaker 5: fire Brent Prye, they bring in James Franklin, and then
- 21:02Speaker 5: Brent Prye's like, I might as well just stick around
- 21:04Speaker 5: as the defensive coordinator. I think that's what the Jets
- 21:06Speaker 5: should do. Fire Aaron Glenn as their head coach, but
- 21:09Speaker 5: let him stick around as the defensive coordinator.
- 21:11Speaker 4: That's not a bad call. Look what Vance Joseph is
- 21:14Speaker 4: doing for the Broncos. Now, they lost yesterday, and it
- 21:18Speaker 4: was the first time they'd lost against an NFC team
- 21:20Speaker 4: in 11 straight games. But Vance Joseph was the Broncos
- 21:24Speaker 4: head coach and got fired and had the wherewithal and
- 21:27Speaker 4: the humility to go back and say, yeah, I'll be
- 21:29Speaker 4: the defensive coordinator. And, you know, they're only two and
- 21:31Speaker 4: two this year, but I think he's done a really
- 21:33Speaker 4: good job. So I don't see that as that problematic
- 21:35Speaker 4: of an issue. I just, a lot of people don't
- 21:38Speaker 4: have the ability to subjugate their ego in those situations.
- 21:41Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't think that's a bad idea at all.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Trey, we'll get you out of here on this note.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Final question here. Do we have to rethink the way
- 21:49Speaker 1: We look at Trevor Lawrence because he's playing awfully well,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and so is that team.
- 21:53Speaker 4: He is, and I think that's the best team that
- 21:56Speaker 4: nobody's talking about.
- 21:57Speaker 3: You look at the teams that they've played. They've played
- 21:59Speaker 3: some really good teams so far this season.
- 22:01Speaker 4: And, you know, Cleveland looked like a lapdog.
- 22:05Speaker 3: In week one, but Cleveland's turned out to be okay.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I think the Jags are one of the more interesting teams, but,
- 22:11Speaker 4: you know, they're now going on their two weeks in
- 22:13Speaker 4: London where they become the Shaguars, and I don't know
- 22:17Speaker 4: what's going to happen there. I think they have very
- 22:19Speaker 4: few games in their home stadium over the next two
- 22:22Speaker 4: seasons because I think all next year they're going to
- 22:24Speaker 4: be in Orlando while they build their new stadium. So
- 22:27Speaker 4: they need to make the most of this season in
- 22:28Speaker 4: Duval County. And I give Liam Cohen a lot of credit.
- 22:32Speaker 4: But again, Trevor is like Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson
- 22:36Speaker 4: and Josh Allen. All this stuff is great in the
- 22:39Speaker 4: regular season. Now go do it in the postseason because
- 22:41Speaker 4: that's the biggest question mark for them.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yes, I lied.
- 22:44Speaker 1: One more question. The Wingo Network, OG Football Show as well.
- 22:47Speaker 1: By the way, tell Damian Woody to return our calls.
- 22:50Speaker 1: We're trying to reach out to him. He's not happy
- 22:52Speaker 1: with me because I keep ripping Aaron Glenn, and so
- 22:54Speaker 1: does Mikey. So does Mikey A. But you love football.
- 22:58Speaker 1: You love the NFL. You love the history of the NFL.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Tonight's game is special, Trey. It's Saints and it's Falcons.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Just talk about the meaning of this game to the
- 23:08Speaker 1: city of New Orleans because it's going to be a
- 23:09Speaker 1: special evening.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Yeah, listen, this was 20 years after the first game
- 23:14Speaker 4: back in Hurricane Katrina. I don't know of any other
- 23:19Speaker 4: city that has a statue of a blocked punt outside
- 23:22Speaker 4: their stadium. When Steve Gleason, who, God bless him, is
- 23:26Speaker 4: still fighting ALS, blocked that punt and the whole city
- 23:30Speaker 4: just went crazy.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 23:31Speaker 4: That was one of the more emotional games I've ever
- 23:35Speaker 4: seen in my life.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:37Speaker 3: That place just.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Erupted 20 years later. To see that stadium still standing
- 23:41Speaker 4: is really the most amazing thing and the things that
- 23:44Speaker 4: happened in there and how the roof came off. To
- 23:47Speaker 4: see that city and to see that team rebound from that,
- 23:52Speaker 4: and that was really the beginning of the golden era
- 23:55Speaker 4: of Drew Brees and Sean Payton there together. It's really fascinating,
- 24:00Speaker 4: and it's going to be a very, very interesting night.
- 24:03Speaker 4: The Falcons come in on a major high. with the
- 24:06Speaker 4: way they played in that Thursday game against the Green
- 24:08Speaker 4: Bay Packers and Bijan Robinson. But when that dome is rocking,
- 24:13Speaker 4: that's as good of a home field advantage as you
- 24:15Speaker 4: have in the NFL. And emotions are going to be
- 24:18Speaker 4: a huge part of what happens tonight in New Orleans.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Trey, you can't bet against the Saints tonight, right? This
- 24:24Speaker 5: feels like one that the Superdome wins them.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I mean, hell no.
- 24:27Speaker 3: It would be un-American. Plus, it's the Falcons.
- 24:31Speaker 2: The Falcons.
- 24:33Speaker 3: It's the Falcons. Let's just be honest. It's the Falcons.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Put it on the poll, Taylor.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Would betting on the Falcons be un-American tonight?
- 24:42Speaker 3: I think so.
- 24:44Speaker 1: No, I totally agree with you. OG Football Show, check
- 24:47Speaker 1: them out right there, the Wingo Network. We appreciate it, Trey.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Stop sweating the three-footers, man. Just go tap it in.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Come on.
- 24:56Speaker 3: That's the plan, brother. That's the plan. I just got
- 24:58Speaker 3: to get shaky the moil out of here.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yes, yes. When you say that's the plan, that's the
- 25:02Speaker 2: plan in like 45 minutes, correct? Yes?
- 25:05Speaker 3: That is correct. It's a beautiful day.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Enjoy the game tonight. Thank you for doing this, Trey.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Anytime, guys. See you later. Go Bo Nicks!
- 25:14Speaker 2: Oh, Trey, what a letdown that was.
