  Speaker 1: from the new King James version. Now, this is one

  Speaker 1: of the most critical chapters in the entire Bible. John

  Speaker 1: chapter three. You get the famous verse, So God loves
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: the world that he gave his only begotten son. Therefore

  Speaker 1: whosoever so that whosoever shall believe it in him shall

  Speaker 1: not perish, but have everlasting life. John three sixteen is
• 4:07
  Speaker 1: a very powerful scripture to memorize. And we're gonna talk

  Speaker 1: about the new birth in this chapter. We're gonna talk

  Speaker 1: about eternal life, the issues of eternal life. So make

  Speaker 1: into it. So let's read John chapter three, verse one

  Speaker 1: and two. Now, I would say that the last chapter
• 5:45
  Speaker 1: we've talked about the wedding, the water that was turned
• 5:48
  Speaker 1: into wine. Jesus is finally making himself public, but there's
• 5:53
  Speaker 1: always two kingdoms that are in competition with each other.
• 5:58
  Speaker 1: The Kingdom of God finally started moving through the life
• 6:03
  Speaker 1: of Christ. His time has come right to go public.
• 6:08
  Speaker 1: But now we see immediately opposition to the work and
• 6:14
  Speaker 1: move of God. So don't be defeated, don't get discouraged.
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: Situations may come up, but God is always victorious a man,
• 6:27
  Speaker 1: so we see chapter three there was a man of
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This
• 6:38
  Speaker 1: man came to Jesus by night and said to him, Rabbi,
• 6:45
  Speaker 1: we know that you are a teacher, come from God.
• 6:48
  Speaker 1: No one can do these signs that you do unless
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: God is with him. A man that is a powerful
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: That was a powerful introduction, a powerful statement that Nicodemus
• 7:04
  Speaker 1: made part of the Pharisees. He was part of the Sanhedrin.
• 7:12
  Speaker 1: Now he was one of the most powerful religious leaders
• 7:16
  Speaker 1: in Israel. Then he came to Jesus by night. Now
• 7:23
  Speaker 1: shows both his curiosity but also his fear of public opinion.

  Speaker 1: Now Nicodemus acknowledges Jesus, he acknowledges his divine authority. He says,
• 7:40
  Speaker 1: God must be with you, right, but he comes at night.
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: How many of us want to follow Jesus in secret? Right?
• 7:53
  Speaker 1: That something could not keep him away. Something drew him
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: to Jesus. But he was being very cautious and careful
• 8:05
  Speaker 1: of that. But you know, we don't want the crowd
• 8:10
  Speaker 1: to know, but deep inside we know he is the truth.
• 8:16
  Speaker 1: This is where many of us begin quietly seeking Jesus.
• 8:25
  Speaker 1: And you know what, as long as you're seeking right,
• 8:30
  Speaker 1: that may be a good start for some of us.
• 8:34
  Speaker 1: But as long as you're seeking, just don't stay there.
• 8:38
  Speaker 1: Just don't stay in a place where you think you
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: have to keep this secret and earn the down low. Right,
• 8:45
  Speaker 1: we got to be bold about it. But let's look
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: look at this chapter on fold as we go to three.

  Speaker 1: Jesus answered and said to him most assuredly, I say
• 8:58
  Speaker 1: to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see
• 9:05
  Speaker 1: the Kingdom of God. Now, this is a critical passage
• 9:12
  Speaker 1: of scripture. Now, this is the heart of Christianity right here.

  Speaker 1: This is the very heart of it. It's not religion,
• 9:26
  Speaker 1: it's not rituals, but a spiritual rebirth. Jesus didn't say
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: try harder, you know, make more of an effort, right,
• 9:43
  Speaker 1: you know, strap up your bootstraps or whatever. He didn't say,
• 9:48
  Speaker 1: keep the law better, right, try harder, keep the law,
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: do better and keeping the law. He said, you must
• 9:57
  Speaker 1: be born again. This is radical. This blue. We're gonna

  Speaker 1: see his reaction, nikodemons, his reaction. This blue is mine.

  Speaker 1: It means what you've been doing in the flesh is
• 10:12
  Speaker 1: not enough. And beloved, if you don't hear anything else

  Speaker 1: been doing, according to our own flesh, it is not enough.

  Speaker 1: You need a new birth from above. You need to
• 10:35
  Speaker 1: be born again. Now, sometimes we use this term. I

  Speaker 1: use it to distinguish myself from different religions and even
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: different other Christian denominations, right, like, this is the heart
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: of the matter. At Sometimes I get into debates with
• 10:59
  Speaker 1: Joe of his witnesses or even Mormons, and then they
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: call me the born again and they the born Agains
• 11:06
  Speaker 1: are known for being stubborn, you know, born Agains are known.
• 11:11
  Speaker 1: You know, out of all the religions out there, if
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: you want to call us that, the born Agains are
• 11:17
  Speaker 1: probably the most hated. We're the ones who say that
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: Jesus is the way, truth and life. No one comes
• 11:23
  Speaker 1: to the Father but through him, you know. They say
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: that we're narrow minded, right, But we're the one we're
• 11:31
  Speaker 1: getting This is where we get it from. We're getting
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: it straight out of the Bible. We're getting straight from
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: the words of Jesus Christ himself. And that's what it's
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: That's what it's all about. That's that's where it's at.

  Speaker 1: You know, have you been born again? Has God changed
• 11:49
  Speaker 1: your heart and mind? Are you living different? Do you
• 11:53
  Speaker 1: have the power now to obey Christ? Are you still
• 11:57
  Speaker 1: bound up in your sin. This is something that we
• 12:02
  Speaker 1: can't play with. We need to make sure that we
• 12:06
  Speaker 1: are born again, born of the spirit. And so let's
• 12:14
  Speaker 1: see Nicodemus's reaction to this. Nicodmus said to him, how
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: can a man be born when he is old? Can
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: he enter a second time into his mother's womb and
• 12:33
  Speaker 1: be born? Now this is a question right because he
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: was blown away. But Jesus explains the difference between born
• 12:49
  Speaker 1: of the flesh and born of the spirit. Flesh gives
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: birth to flesh, natural life, Spirit gives birth to spirit,
• 13:01
  Speaker 1: eternal life. The wind analogy shows the spirit's mysterious but
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: undeniably work right the wind. The wind, we can't see it,
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: but we can see the effects of it. Now, nico
• 13:20
  Speaker 1: Demons thought Jesus was talking about crawling back into his
• 13:24
  Speaker 1: mom's womb, you know what I mean. But Jesus said,
• 13:29
  Speaker 1: speaking on a whole another level. Jesus was on a
• 13:35
  Speaker 1: whole nother level when he was talking to him. He
• 13:37
  Speaker 1: was talking about Spirit transforms us. The Spirit transforms us
• 13:44
  Speaker 1: in ways we can't always explain, but we can see
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: the results, like wind moving through the trees. Can you
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: see the results of the spirit working in your life?

  Speaker 1: Things that you used to do, you don't do no more.

  Speaker 1: Even areas where you used to struggle. He seemed to
• 14:10
  Speaker 1: fall off of our lives. That is the power of
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: the spirit working in us. Amen, hallelujah. All right, let's
• 14:23
  Speaker 1: go to verse nine, and we're gonna take it all
• 14:26
  Speaker 1: the way to fifteen. Nikademon's answered and said to him,
• 14:32
  Speaker 1: how can this be? Now? He was confused, and he
• 14:38
  Speaker 1: was really trying to understand. Now, Jesus answered and said
• 14:42
  Speaker 1: to him, are you the teacher of Israel? And do
• 14:47
  Speaker 1: not know these things? Wow? That's powerful. Most assuredly, I
• 14:53
  Speaker 1: say to you, we speak what we know, and testify
• 14:57
  Speaker 1: what we've seen, and you do you do not receive
• 15:01
  Speaker 1: our witness. If I've told you earthly things and you
• 15:05
  Speaker 1: do not believe, how will you believe if I tell
• 15:09
  Speaker 1: you heavenly things. No one has ascended to heaven but
• 15:14
  Speaker 1: he who came down from heaven, that is the Son
• 15:17
  Speaker 1: of Man, who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted
• 15:22
  Speaker 1: up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the
• 15:26
  Speaker 1: Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in
• 15:31
  Speaker 1: him not perish but have eternal life. All right, let's
• 15:38
  Speaker 1: start right there. And let's break this down. Now, Niko
• 15:41
  Speaker 1: deep he struggles. Jesus points back to Moses lifting up
• 15:46
  Speaker 1: the serpent in the wilderness. Now that was a foreshadowing
• 15:51
  Speaker 1: of the crucifixion of Christ. Now, the serpent lifted up
• 15:57
  Speaker 1: was a symbol of sin that was judged. Brass is
• 16:03
  Speaker 1: always a metal of judgment in the Bible, and the
• 16:07
  Speaker 1: serpent is always representative of satan and sin. Now, those
• 16:14
  Speaker 1: who look upon it lived. If you remember the story,
• 16:18
  Speaker 1: if you were bit by a snake, but you looked
• 16:22
  Speaker 1: upon this brass pole with the serpent on it, you
• 16:27
  Speaker 1: would be healed. And this is what the ambulance have.

  Speaker 1: They have this picture of this on ambulance and stuff
• 16:34
  Speaker 1: like that in the medical field. But likewise, whoever believes
• 16:39
  Speaker 1: in Jesus, when Jesus and Jesus lifted up on the cross,
• 16:46
  Speaker 1: would be healed as well. They will have eternal life. Now,
• 16:49
  Speaker 1: look and live, right, Look and live. That's a T shirt.

  Speaker 1: The people don't have to work, crawl, or we don't
• 17:02
  Speaker 1: have to even prove ourselves. Just look in faith, same
• 17:08
  Speaker 1: with Jesus. Believe and eternal life begins. All we have
• 17:16
  Speaker 1: to do is look. All we have to do is believe.

  Speaker 1: Look on the cross, and this is where eternal life begins.

  Speaker 1: Because now our sin has been judged. All right, let's
• 17:31
  Speaker 1: go verse sixteen through eighteen.

  Speaker 3: It looks like you lost another one.

  Speaker 1: And this is a very famous verse right here, John
• 17:39
  Speaker 1: three sixteen. For God so love the world that he
• 17:43
  Speaker 1: gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him
• 17:49
  Speaker 1: shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did
• 17:55
  Speaker 1: not send his son into the world to condemn the world,
• 18:00
  Speaker 1: but that the world through him might be saved. He
• 18:05
  Speaker 1: who believes in him is not condemned. But he who
• 18:09
  Speaker 1: does not believe is condemned already because he has not
• 18:14
  Speaker 1: believed in the name of the only begotten Son. Now
• 18:20
  Speaker 1: this is deep. Let's break it down. For God so
• 18:25
  Speaker 1: love the world that he gave his only begotten son,
• 18:30
  Speaker 1: that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have
• 18:34
  Speaker 1: everlasting life. This is the gospel. In one verse. God's
• 18:40
  Speaker 1: motivation love, God's gift, his son, God's offer eternal life,
• 18:48
  Speaker 1: God's requirement.

  Speaker 3: Believe.

  Speaker 1: Now this is the verse you see at football games, right,
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: But don't let it lose its power. God love the world,
• 19:03
  Speaker 1: not just Israel, not just the rich, not just the perfect,
• 19:08
  Speaker 1: but all of us, that includes you, and that includes me.
• 19:15
  Speaker 1: Eternal life is available only by faith. The only requirement
• 19:24
  Speaker 1: is to believe. Have you believed in the only Begotten
• 19:29
  Speaker 1: Son and man? All right? Let's sayd Verse nineteen through
• 19:39
  Speaker 1: twenty one, And it says he who believes in him
• 19:44
  Speaker 1: shall not perish. But he does not believe is condemned
• 19:51
  Speaker 1: already because he has not believed in the name of
• 19:55
  Speaker 1: the only Begotten Son of God. And this is the
• 19:59
  Speaker 1: kind of nation. That the light has come into the world.

  Speaker 1: And men love darkness rather than light because their deeds
• 20:09
  Speaker 1: were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and
• 20:14
  Speaker 1: does not come to the light lest his deeds should
• 20:20
  Speaker 1: be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to
• 20:25
  Speaker 1: the light that his deeds may be clearly seen that
• 20:30
  Speaker 1: they have been done in God. Amen. Now, Jesus explains
• 20:41
  Speaker 1: that some reject him because they love darkness more than light.

  Speaker 1: Now the choice is clear, light or darkness. There are
• 20:53
  Speaker 1: only two kingdoms in this entire universe. That's one of
• 20:58
  Speaker 1: the things that I like about the Star Wars franchise.

  Speaker 1: They make it clear you're either on the light side
• 21:06
  Speaker 1: or you're on the dark side. Either you are a
• 21:08
  Speaker 1: Jedi knight or you are a Sith. And we can
• 21:14
  Speaker 1: say that today, either we are a believer or a
• 21:17
  Speaker 1: non believer, our deeds reveal where our hearts really are. See,
• 21:27
  Speaker 1: we can say and talk a good game, but what
• 21:31
  Speaker 1: we do and our deeds will expose the truth of
• 21:40
  Speaker 1: where we're really at and what side we on. If
• 21:46
  Speaker 1: you're on the light side or you're on the dark side,
• 21:48
  Speaker 1: that's a time right there for some self reflection, like
• 21:53
  Speaker 1: where are my deeds? This where this is where accountability
• 22:00
  Speaker 1: comes in. This is where having an accountability partner can
• 22:05
  Speaker 1: really help us. Some people hide from the light because
• 22:10
  Speaker 1: they don't want to give up sin. They don't want
• 22:14
  Speaker 1: to give it up, so they hide from it. But
• 22:17
  Speaker 1: those who step into the light, they show their life
• 22:21
  Speaker 1: is built on God. Let me say that again, those
• 22:27
  Speaker 1: who hide from the light. If we have secret deeds,
• 22:31
  Speaker 1: secret sins, if there's something that we're hiding, see, a
• 22:35
  Speaker 1: lot of us think we're grown and beloved it. I
• 22:38
  Speaker 1: ain't gonna lie, I'm gonna be transparent. I deal with this.
• 22:43
  Speaker 1: I don't come to the light like I should in
• 22:47
  Speaker 1: some areas because for me, there's been some hurt behind it.
• 22:57
  Speaker 1: You know, there's a fear that you know, I've dealt
• 23:05
  Speaker 1: with through the years. I've dealt with control and manipulation
• 23:08
  Speaker 1: from pastors and leaders and people in my life, even
• 23:12
  Speaker 1: people close people, you know, in close relationship to me.
• 23:19
  Speaker 1: I deal with this spirit and I'm able to recognize
• 23:26
  Speaker 1: it now to where when people are you know, when
• 23:29
  Speaker 1: people just want to control and manipulate and not really
• 23:32
  Speaker 1: be a friend to you. And so that's caused me
• 23:36
  Speaker 1: to not, you know, be honest or open about everything. Now.
• 23:43
  Speaker 1: Of course, some things should be between you and God,
• 23:48
  Speaker 1: but it's more specifically I'm talking about pastors. You know,
• 23:52
  Speaker 1: I've had bad experience with pastors, and sometimes it's a
• 23:55
  Speaker 1: struggle for me to be totally open and honest about
• 23:59
  Speaker 1: my life, you know, and God pray for me. God
• 24:03
  Speaker 1: is working on me because I do realize, especially reading
• 24:06
  Speaker 1: the scripture, that we need to come to the light
• 24:09
  Speaker 1: so that our deeds shall be seen. That we are
• 24:13
  Speaker 1: built in God. And that's where accountability helps. It helps
• 24:16
  Speaker 1: us to expose ourselves once we confess and expose things.
• 24:22
  Speaker 1: That's why I like to expose a lot of things
• 24:24
  Speaker 1: here on this podcast. The enemy loses power right, the
• 24:29
  Speaker 1: enemy loses Sin has power and secret sin wants to
• 24:33
  Speaker 1: keep us in the dark, but it loses power when
• 24:38
  Speaker 1: we bring it all to the light. You know. And
• 24:42
  Speaker 1: my struggles have been, you know, lately, have been more
• 24:46
  Speaker 1: in the financial realm. You know, there's things, you know,
• 24:50
  Speaker 1: we need to stay away from loan sharks and you know,
• 24:53
  Speaker 1: I need to stay away from you know, other decisions
• 24:56
  Speaker 1: or just you know, spending money randomly on fast food
• 25:00
  Speaker 1: and things like that, and really focus on what God
• 25:04
  Speaker 1: has purposed me to do. And so yeah, that's that's
• 25:10
  Speaker 1: my confession. I'm bringing my d's to the light. And
• 25:19
  Speaker 1: that's where accountability can help us. Say, man, all right,
• 25:25
