- Lucas: Luna, welcome back. Ready to learn something new today? Luna: Absolutely. I've been reviewing last episode's sports words — football, natation. But let's move on. Lucas: Good idea. Today we're tackling the days of the week. Super practical for making plans. Luna: Oh, I've been wanting to know those. In English it's Monday, Tuesday... but in French, I've heard they start with 'lundi'? Lucas: Exactly. Let's go through them one by one. First: lundi. That's Monday. Luna: Lundi. Lucas: Good. Now Tuesday: mardi. Luna: Mardi. Sounds like 'Mars day'. Lucas: Exactly. Wednesday: mercredi. Luna: Mercredi. A bit of a mouthful. Lucas: You'll get it. Thursday: jeudi. Luna: Jeudi. Like 'Jupiter day'. Lucas: Nice connection. Friday: vendredi. Luna: Vendredi. Sounds like 'Venus day'. Lucas: You're catching on. Saturday: samedi. Luna: Samedi. Lucas: And Sunday: dimanche. Luna: Dimanche. That's my favorite. Lucas: Let's say them all together. I'll go first: lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Your turn. Luna: Lundi, mardi, mercredi, jeudi, vendredi, samedi, dimanche. Did I get them right? Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's use them in a little scene. Imagine we're planning a get-together. I might say: 'On se voit lundi?' meaning 'We see each other on Monday?' Luna: Ah, so 'on se voit' is 'we see each other'. So 'On se voit lundi?' is asking to meet Monday. Lucas: Exactly. Now you try. Ask me if we meet on Wednesday. Luna: On se voit mercredi? Lucas: Oui, on se voit mercredi. Good. Now, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with French, a couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo, if you've gotten something out of them. Luna: Yeah, every little bit helps us keep making these free episodes. Thanks to anyone who supports. Lucas: Now back to the days. Let's practice another phrase: 'C'est quel jour?' meaning 'What day is it?' Luna: C'est quel jour? So if someone asks that, I can respond with 'C'est lundi'? Lucas: Exactly. 'C'est lundi', 'C'est mardi', and so on. Let's do a quick drill. I'll ask 'C'est quel jour?' and you answer with today's day. Today is Wednesday, so you'd say 'C'est mercredi'. Luna: Okay. C'est quel jour? C'est mercredi. Lucas: Great. Now let's mix it up. I'll say a day in English, you say it in French. Monday. Luna: Lundi. Lucas: Friday. Luna: Vendredi. Lucas: Sunday. Luna: Dimanche. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's try a short conversation. I'll start: 'On se voit samedi?' Luna: Oui, on se voit samedi. What day is that? Lucas: Samedi is Saturday. So we're meeting Saturday. Now you ask me if we meet on Tuesday. Luna: On se voit mardi? Lucas: Non, on se voit jeudi. Thursday. So I said no, we meet Thursday. Let's practice the days one more time from the top. Repeat after me: lundi. Luna: Lundi. Lucas: Mardi. Luna: Mardi. Lucas: Mercredi. Luna: Mercredi. Lucas: Jeudi. Luna: Jeudi. Lucas: Vendredi. Luna: Vendredi. Lucas: Samedi. Luna: Samedi. Lucas: Dimanche. Luna: Dimanche. Lucas: Perfect. Now you can say all seven days. As a quick review, what's the French for 'What day is it?'? Luna: C'est quel jour? Lucas: And if it's Friday, you'd say...? Luna: C'est vendredi. Lucas: Wonderful. Keep practicing these days through the week. Try naming each day as it comes. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. See you next time! Luna: À bientôt! Practice these days till we chat again.
