Luna: Ooh, I could use a drink right now. What are we learning? Lucas: Today, we're focusing on two popular drinks: juice and soda. In Amharic, juice is ጭማቂ. Luna: ጭማቂ. That's a mouthful. Let me try again. ጭማቂ. Lucas: Perfect. And soda is ሶዳ. Luna: ሶዳ. That's easy, sounds like soda. Lucas: Right. Now, to say 'I want juice,' you say ጭማቂ እፈልጋለሁ. Luna: ጭማቂ እፈልጋለሁ. So I just add እፈልጋለሁ after the drink. Lucas: Exactly. And for soda, it's ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ. Luna: ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ. I can already order my favorite drinks. Lucas: And to ask someone if they want juice or soda, you can say ጭማቂ ወይስ ሶዳ? Luna: ጭማቂ ወይስ ሶዳ? That's like 'Juice or soda?' Lucas: Yep. Let's practice those in a little scene. Imagine we're at a café in Addis Ababa. Luna: Okay. I'll be the customer. Waitress, I want juice. ጭማቂ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: And I'll be the waiter. Sure. And for you, ጭማቂ ወይስ ሶዳ? Luna: Hmm. I'll have soda. ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: There you go. You're already ordering like a pro. Luna: Thanks. But let me try asking you. ጭማቂ ወይስ ሶዳ? Lucas: Oh, I'd love a fresh juice. ጭማቂ. Luna: Right. But I'm curious, how do you say 'I want a drink' in general? Like if you're not sure what you want. Lucas: Good question. That would be መጠጥ እፈልጋለሁ. But we're focusing on juice and soda today. Luna: Got it. Let's stick to the plan. So we have ጭማቂ and ሶዳ. Lucas: And the phrases: ጭማቂ እፈልጋለሁ and ሶዳ እፈ�ልጋለሁ. Luna: Wait, I think I stumbled. You said እፈልጋለሁ for both, right? Just focus on ጭማቂ, ሶዳ, and the phrases with እፈልጋለሁ. Luna: Got it. Keep it simple. So, if I'm at a café and I want juice, I say ጭማቂ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: Exactly.
