- 2:09Speaker 2: Would say, it's for us.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Okay, were black and brown women.
- 2:17Speaker 2: We are going through some.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Stuff right now, and yesterday we had some ladies that
- 2:22Speaker 4: came on that share their book that give us a
- 2:27Speaker 4: little hope to hang on through everything that's going through.
- 2:35Speaker 2: It has me on the screen. Okay, y'all.
- 2:54Speaker 5: I'm not sure what's going on with Patreth. She was
- 2:58Speaker 5: in the studio, not sure what happen, but she has
- 3:01Speaker 5: an amazing guest here with us tonight, so I don't
- 3:06Speaker 5: see if we can get her back in the studio.
- 3:08Speaker 5: But meanwhile, gonna go ahead and bring up her guests,
- 3:11Speaker 5: and we're gonna jump on in the conversation. Y'all know
- 3:14Speaker 5: how we do, because y'all know, time to time things happen,
- 3:18Speaker 5: but we don't stop. We keep it pushing. So I
- 3:22Speaker 5: am going to bring up our guests, and of course
- 3:26Speaker 5: I am the visionary Angela for those that do not know.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Sometime I have to jump on. But let me bring
- 3:33Speaker 5: up the guests for tonight. She's been on the platform
- 3:37Speaker 5: before doing some amazing things. Of course, I can never,
- 3:41Speaker 5: I can never, never give our guests the right introduction.
- 3:47Speaker 5: So guess what, I'm just gonna move on out the
- 3:49Speaker 5: way and allow her to introduce herself. So let me
- 3:53Speaker 5: move and let me bring her own up. Welcome, doctor Stevens.
- 3:58Speaker 2: How are you? I am doing fantabulous.
- 4:03Speaker 6: I am always excited to be on air and to
- 4:08Speaker 6: be on this platform, which this feels like home for me,
- 4:14Speaker 6: and so yes, I am super excited about being here
- 4:18Speaker 6: with sister Patrice, and I know that she'll be coming
- 4:22Speaker 6: back to be with us. Hey, I'm looking forward to
- 4:26Speaker 6: this experience.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Of course, I'm sure she has a lot of questions
- 4:32Speaker 5: that she wants to ask. But if you would please
- 4:37Speaker 5: introduce yourself to those that may not know you. Of course,
- 4:42Speaker 5: Patresea's show is about author, so you know she has
- 4:45Speaker 5: to be an amazing author to be sitting in this
- 4:48Speaker 5: hot seat tonight. So if you would just introduce yourself
- 4:52Speaker 5: to those that may not know you, sure.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Well, good evening to everyone who is watching with us
- 5:00Speaker 6: live and those who are going to watch us on
- 5:04Speaker 6: the replay. My name is doctor Carolyn Stevens and I
- 5:08Speaker 6: am currently the CEO of the Black House Media Group.
- 5:13Speaker 6: I also serve as a clinical mental health therapist here
- 5:19Speaker 6: in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a best selling author as
- 5:24Speaker 6: well as a publishing consultant and so absolutely love love,
- 5:30Speaker 6: love writing books. I love authors. Authoring is my passion.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Helping and working and networking with authors is next to
- 5:41Speaker 6: therapy is my passion as well.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Here but here now I've been in Atlanta for I'm
- 5:54Speaker 6: probably a little over thirty years. So this is Patrice.
- 5:59Speaker 6: I guess I'm I'm no longer an apple maybe now
- 6:02Speaker 6: I'm a peach since here in Atlanta. Wow, But I
- 6:06Speaker 6: am still a Brooklyn girl in my heart of heart.
- 6:10Speaker 6: So that's a little bit about me.
- 6:13Speaker 4: So let me ask you a question. Do you prefer
- 6:15Speaker 4: to be the apple or the peach?
- 6:18Speaker 2: Oh?
- 6:19Speaker 6: Wow, you asked a good question. Nobody has ever asked me.
- 6:24Speaker 6: I'm gonna say that I would prefer to be the
- 6:27Speaker 6: apple because my Brooklyn roots run real deep, and you know,
- 6:33Speaker 6: since I've been here in Georgia for quite some time,
- 6:37Speaker 6: somewhat lost a little bit of my Brooklyn accent. But
- 6:42Speaker 6: there are words that I say, like, for example, I
- 6:46Speaker 6: say coffee.
- 6:48Speaker 2: See that's like a Brooklyn thing.
- 6:49Speaker 6: We say coffee, but in Georgia they say coffee, but
- 6:53Speaker 6: we say for you know, we say I'm going to
- 6:57Speaker 6: the mall.
- 6:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So that's so some things I said.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Still, you can people can tell, hey, you must be
- 7:04Speaker 6: from up North Gown. So I guess again, I'm an
- 7:07Speaker 6: apple in my heart. Okay, Okay, there ain't nothing wrong
- 7:12Speaker 6: with that. But now you're you're okay.
- 7:14Speaker 4: But well before I can say you're a true Southerner,
- 7:21Speaker 4: how do you like your grits?
- 7:24Speaker 2: You like salt and sugar?
- 7:27Speaker 6: Well, I think true Southerners put sugar in it. But
- 7:30Speaker 6: I like salt in my grits. Okay, I think, I think, yeah,
- 7:35Speaker 6: I think true Southerners like sugar in their grits. If
- 7:39Speaker 6: I'm not mistaken, because I got friends that eat it.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Is that about right? Okay? And Chasten is kind of
- 7:47Speaker 2: like a mixture.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Now I'm a salt girl. I can't do the sugar
- 7:51Speaker 4: on the grits. I never understood that, but to.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Eat just me.
- 7:57Speaker 4: So what drawll you to that love that you have
- 8:03Speaker 4: for authors and being an author yourself?
- 8:06Speaker 2: What drew you to that? Well, what drew me.
- 8:12Speaker 6: To my love of authors, which is why I don't
- 8:15Speaker 6: promote myself as a publisher but a publishing consultant, basically
- 8:21Speaker 6: meaning that I help authors to build their author platform.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Not necessarily mean we can publish books, but primarily the
- 8:31Speaker 6: bulk of my job as a consultant is to help
- 8:34Speaker 6: authors build a platform, which part of their platform is
- 8:39Speaker 6: that they happen to have a book. And what drew
- 8:43Speaker 6: me into that I've always loved authors, but I drew
- 8:48Speaker 6: on my own experiences as a first time author and
- 8:52Speaker 6: a lot of the challenges that I had, questions that
- 8:55Speaker 6: I could not get answered, a little bit of money
- 8:59Speaker 6: that I spent that I didn't want to spend that
- 9:02Speaker 6: I should not have spent, but I didn't know any better.
- 9:06Speaker 6: So on my journey of not knowing, you know, I
- 9:11Speaker 6: developed some knowledge and some skills and actually, Patrius, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 6: I'm part of a couple of authors groups. People were
- 9:21Speaker 6: just asking me questions, I mean, really like, how do
- 9:23Speaker 6: I do that?
- 9:24Speaker 2: What do I do?
- 9:25Speaker 5: What?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Do I do? What do I do?
- 9:27Speaker 6: And beknownst to me, I had no idea that God
- 9:31Speaker 6: was helping me to build a platform.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I just wanted to help people and help.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Authors so they wouldn't have to spend a whole lot
- 9:38Speaker 6: of unnecessary money and time. And then they produced beautiful
- 9:43Speaker 6: books and they weren't selling them. So God for me,
- 9:48Speaker 6: He built that platform for me. So really it was
- 9:52Speaker 6: out of my own love for not wanting to see,
- 9:56Speaker 6: especially our people know, become misguided in their journey, especially
- 10:03Speaker 6: as first time author.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Okay, so if you can give one piece of advice
- 10:11Speaker 4: for a new author, what would that one piece of
- 10:15Speaker 4: advice be?
- 10:17Speaker 2: Oh? Boy, because I got so many, but what would
- 10:20Speaker 2: the one What would the one piece of advice be?
- 10:27Speaker 6: So I say this because I work with self published
- 10:30Speaker 6: authors and I'm a self published author, But what the
- 10:34Speaker 6: one piece of advice I would give even though you're
- 10:36Speaker 6: a self published author.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Don't work alone? Just don't work. Don't don't work alone.
- 10:43Speaker 6: At least support people or somebody you trust to advise
- 10:48Speaker 6: you while you're on your journey.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But don't be self published.
- 10:53Speaker 6: That is okay, Just don't work alone and know that
- 10:56Speaker 6: you are not alone. That you're now won build a
- 11:00Speaker 6: support team around yourself, you know, because your.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Book is your baby. That's your baby, you know.
- 11:07Speaker 4: You know, as a child, you got that village mentality
- 11:10Speaker 4: somebody when you're sleeping, they you know, taking care of
- 11:14Speaker 4: the baby somebody.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I understand that that makes a lot of sense. So
- 11:19Speaker 2: that would be my advice I will give.
- 11:22Speaker 4: So you have this wonderful book that came out early
- 11:25Speaker 4: this year called Sacred Seeds of wants them things that
- 11:30Speaker 4: every black and brown woman.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Need to know.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Tell us a little bit about this book, Oh my goodness.
- 11:39Speaker 6: And I got the book here and since a patrice
- 11:44Speaker 6: you know what I failed to do. So, but I
- 11:46Speaker 6: need to get your address so I can send you
- 11:48Speaker 6: a copy. I want you to have you I want
- 11:50Speaker 6: you to have your own copy. I try to make
- 11:53Speaker 6: sure that I remember to do that when people so
- 11:56Speaker 6: graciously have me on their platforms, because it's an honored
- 12:00Speaker 6: Here our Sacred Seeds of Wisdom. Oh my goodness, this
- 12:06Speaker 6: is a compilation book written by There's eleven of us. Yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 6: there is eleven of Us. By far one of the
- 12:18Speaker 6: easiest projects I had ever done, because we have gotten
- 12:23Speaker 6: asked all the time, what kind of complications did you
- 12:27Speaker 6: have working with eleven women? And how was it having
- 12:31Speaker 6: eleven women with eleven different personalities. I can honestly tell
- 12:36Speaker 6: you we had none. We published this book so fast,
- 12:41Speaker 6: there was no complications, We had no challenges. I believe
- 12:46Speaker 6: it was a group of women that just came together
- 12:47Speaker 6: at the right time. We all had something to say.
- 12:51Speaker 6: So Secret Seeds of Wisdom I felt like at sixty
- 12:56Speaker 6: one years young, I you know, at at that age
- 13:01Speaker 6: and probably at fifty or so half of one hundred,
- 13:04Speaker 6: you start to think about what is it that you
- 13:07Speaker 6: want to leave with people? You know, what do you
- 13:11Speaker 6: want to be remembered by? What seeds do you want
- 13:14Speaker 6: to sew into their life? And so I thought, Wow,
- 13:18Speaker 6: how cool would it be if a group of us
- 13:22Speaker 6: got together and just from our own experiences in life,
- 13:28Speaker 6: talked about something that we've learned and what we want
- 13:33Speaker 6: to sew into the next sister, so that she knows
- 13:37Speaker 6: you're not alone.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You don't have to do it alone.
- 13:41Speaker 6: If you're going through something, somebody in this book has
- 13:45Speaker 6: been through what you're going through, and you can draw
- 13:48Speaker 6: off their strength and off of their wisdom. And these
- 13:52Speaker 6: women wrote with so much passion. I mean, I made
- 13:58Speaker 6: it very easy for them. I just told them to
- 14:01Speaker 6: tell people if so what I said to them, I
- 14:04Speaker 6: set it up.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I said, if you in.
- 14:05Speaker 6: A room with a group of black and brown women,
- 14:08Speaker 6: what would be the one thing that you would share
- 14:12Speaker 6: with them? And then I told them just right from there. Y'all,
- 14:15Speaker 6: of course, all of us have different experiences in life,
- 14:19Speaker 6: and that's the beauty of working together with other women,
- 14:23Speaker 6: is that we come with our own diverse experiences and
- 14:27Speaker 6: things that we can share. So that's basically what Sacred
- 14:31Speaker 6: Sees of Wisdom is about.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Whoo.
- 14:35Speaker 4: So this this book is very timely because y'all know,
- 14:43Speaker 4: they ain't paying us no attention. No, yeah, we're gonna
- 14:47Speaker 4: tell the honest. They're not paying us any attention when
- 14:50Speaker 4: anything that's going on in the world. And I actually
- 14:52Speaker 4: took today and part of yesterday, and I don't know
- 14:57Speaker 4: what made me go down this rabbit hole, y'all, but
- 15:01Speaker 4: it kept me up last night just consuming myself of
- 15:07Speaker 4: everything that was going on in in the United States. Okay,
- 15:15Speaker 4: very much, very much consumed. But you know what, out everything,
- 15:21Speaker 4: I did not hear one thing about the black woman.
- 15:26Speaker 6: It's interesting that you brought that point up with trees.
- 15:32Speaker 6: This is listen, this is individual. I very rarely try
- 15:38Speaker 6: to watch. I am not interested in watching, nor am
- 15:41Speaker 6: I interested in hearing anything.
- 15:44Speaker 2: About that orange haired man.
- 15:47Speaker 6: However, there was something that came on my phone and
- 15:54Speaker 6: this brother had clips of at least five women and
- 16:00Speaker 6: highly professional women judge were talking judges, lawyers that the
- 16:08Speaker 6: president spouted off fat in a disrespectful manner. Oh that's
- 16:14Speaker 6: why you're stupid, I can tell. I mean, we're talking
- 16:18Speaker 6: like highly professional women. He called them stupid. That's why
- 16:22Speaker 6: you're ignorant. That's why you sound like a baby. You
- 16:26Speaker 6: need to go back to the first grade. You don't listen.
- 16:30Speaker 6: And what the brothers commentary was about is how disrespected
- 16:38Speaker 6: we are and that you know, that's terrible. That that
- 16:46Speaker 6: that is, that is that is terrible. But yeah, on
- 16:48Speaker 6: what you were saying, Yes, and I just view that today.
- 16:52Speaker 6: I just view it and to piggyback off that.
- 16:55Speaker 4: So later on today I went down another rabbit hole
- 17:00Speaker 4: because I saw this come up on my TikTok feed
- 17:03Speaker 4: and it was this.
- 17:04Speaker 2: One young lady.
- 17:05Speaker 4: I don't even know that she has any type of
- 17:10Speaker 4: I would say priority seat, but she went against Jasmine Crockett,
- 17:18Speaker 4: and she said some choice words, hmm, how can your
- 17:27Speaker 4: book help a female like me whose anxiety has been
- 17:32Speaker 4: going through the roof and now who's feeling frustrated. How
- 17:36Speaker 4: can secrecies wisdom things that every black and brown woman
- 17:41Speaker 4: need to know?
- 17:42Speaker 2: How can your book benefit me?
- 17:45Speaker 6: Thank you so much for asking that question. And it's
- 17:48Speaker 6: a good question. So I'll answer the question by prefacing
- 17:53Speaker 6: it by saying this, Patrice, this is something that I
- 17:57Speaker 6: never really understood about us as a diaspora and as
- 18:02Speaker 6: a subculture called black women.
- 18:05Speaker 2: At the end of the day, when you go home,
- 18:09Speaker 2: I don't care who you are.
- 18:10Speaker 6: I don't care if you're a doctor. I don't care
- 18:11Speaker 6: if you're a lawyer. I don't care if you the
- 18:15Speaker 6: sister that's working at the grocery store, you're working at McDonald's.
- 18:18Speaker 6: It don't matter what your socioeconomical status is.
- 18:21Speaker 2: But when you go home, sit on.
- 18:23Speaker 6: The edge of your bed, you know, take off that
- 18:27Speaker 6: bra and that girdle, sometimes taking off that wig I
- 18:31Speaker 6: left whatever. We're all the same. I mean, you know,
- 18:35Speaker 6: at the end of the day, when we unmask all
- 18:38Speaker 6: this stuff that we put on right to be out
- 18:42Speaker 6: in the public, as a sister. We basically are all
- 18:46Speaker 6: the same. We're gonna have some man problems, some money problems,
- 18:50Speaker 6: some chilling problems, okay, And we're all the same. We're
- 18:55Speaker 6: all facing similar disparities. And with that, that is that
- 19:02Speaker 6: should be our connecting piece where I'm able to say
- 19:06Speaker 6: to you without even knowing the details of your life,
- 19:11Speaker 6: but I'm able to say to you since I understand
- 19:15Speaker 6: you know, I understand. Just we just have that subliminal
- 19:20Speaker 6: language that you and I could look at each other
- 19:22Speaker 6: and say, okay, sis, I got you, and I understand
- 19:27Speaker 6: in sacredcyes of wisdom. That's what we're saying through the
- 19:31Speaker 6: words that we have penned on paper. We are saying
- 19:36Speaker 6: one we are all the same. We come from different backgrounds,
- 19:39Speaker 6: but we're all the same. And since I got you, okay,
- 19:43Speaker 6: I understand the anxiety, I understand the depression, I understand disrespect,
- 19:48Speaker 6: I understand the failures and relationships.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I understand the children problem.
- 19:52Speaker 6: I understand your disparity because your disparity is my disparity.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I understand it.
- 19:58Speaker 6: And that's what this book is saying to the sister
- 20:02Speaker 6: that picks up this book and reads it, that if
- 20:04Speaker 6: nobody else understands you. There are eleven women in this
- 20:08Speaker 6: book based on their experiences that get you, that understand you,
- 20:14Speaker 6: and that want to sew a seed into your life
- 20:17Speaker 6: that you can hang on to and say, hey, I
- 20:20Speaker 6: got some hope because this sister is talking.
- 20:23Speaker 2: To me to this book and that's what we need.
- 20:29Speaker 2: That's exactly what we need.
- 20:31Speaker 4: It's it's so so perfect for the time.
- 20:37Speaker 2: That we are in right now.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Because tell you truth, now, I work at I work.
- 20:45Speaker 4: You guys know where I work at. Okay, And because
- 20:48Speaker 4: we're having this political talk that's coming in, I'm not
- 20:51Speaker 4: going to say exactly where I work.
- 20:53Speaker 2: If you are looking at the show you know I
- 20:56Speaker 2: work at.
- 20:57Speaker 4: And I will say that I have yet to see
- 21:01Speaker 4: a book that has come through to encourage an African
- 21:06Speaker 4: American system have yet. I've seen two or three that
- 21:14Speaker 4: I placed on a list, but I've yet to seen
- 21:17Speaker 4: your coming as system. So this book is perfect. If
- 21:21Speaker 4: you could take one of your seeds of wisdom and
- 21:27Speaker 4: give to me as a black woman right now, what
- 21:30Speaker 4: would it be?
- 21:32Speaker 6: Oh boy, I'm telling you, Patrice, you are the host
- 21:38Speaker 6: with the most girl. I mean, because you're asking me
- 21:42Speaker 6: some really profound things. I mean, there's so much good
- 21:47Speaker 6: stuff in this book. I don't know, because I think
- 21:52Speaker 6: about the author, Tony Winston, I think about Trevida. I meant,
- 21:59Speaker 6: we've got some powerful sisters here in this book. But
- 22:04Speaker 6: I'm just I would say to you, I'll give you
- 22:08Speaker 6: my seed that I that I put in the book.
- 22:12Speaker 6: And my seed was I need because all the all
- 22:14Speaker 6: the stories started with I leave you with, which is
- 22:18Speaker 6: a bad story in itself, because we wrote the book
- 22:23Speaker 6: utilizing and giving an homage to Mary Mary Bethune and
- 22:29Speaker 6: her last will and testament, I leave you with, And
- 22:32Speaker 6: so that's what we all wanted to do, was leave
- 22:36Speaker 6: the sisters with. So mine's was I leave you with
- 22:39Speaker 6: an exhortation to set your soul free. And so my
- 22:44Speaker 6: seed was sisters, be friend, be friend, just just whatever
- 22:51Speaker 6: that means to you, just you know, get held and
- 22:56Speaker 6: we just get held in so many bondages by other people,
- 23:00Speaker 6: other people's opinion, what social media says about us, what
- 23:06Speaker 6: we should wear, what we should look like, and the
- 23:09Speaker 6: truth be told.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Patrious.
- 23:11Speaker 6: I mean, most of us black women, at some point
- 23:14Speaker 6: in our lives we have just flat out almost but
- 23:17Speaker 6: killed ourselves trying to be somebody else, and so with
- 23:22Speaker 6: my seat, I'm saying, just go on and be you
- 23:26Speaker 6: whatever that is, because guess what, when you're you, it's
- 23:31Speaker 6: a beautiful thing. I mean, that's a beautiful thing.
- 23:35Speaker 2: And so.
- 23:37Speaker 6: At sixty one, I accept myself, all my roles, all
- 23:41Speaker 6: my curves, some of my wrinkles, stuff that you know,
- 23:45Speaker 6: I need a little work on. But hey, Erika Batdou
- 23:49Speaker 6: has a song where she says, I'm all right with me,
- 23:52Speaker 6: and that's what I was telling the sisters in my part,
- 23:56Speaker 6: be all right with you. Get to the point where
- 23:58Speaker 6: you all right with you. So that's what I would set,
- 24:02Speaker 6: set your soul for it.
- 24:04Speaker 2: And I accept it. I so accept it. I so
- 24:09Speaker 2: accept it. Yeah, because there's.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Some rules like right now, y'all aren't kidching on my
- 24:14Speaker 4: stomach around it.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Not.
- 24:17Speaker 4: So yes, I will accept all of this imperfections and
- 24:22Speaker 4: all their imperfections are my perfections.
- 24:28Speaker 2: I say that to myself now.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I keep saying that to myself even when I have
- 24:33Speaker 4: those doubts. Is something that cowork of minds told me.
- 24:40Speaker 4: You were placed here for the reason, so standing your
- 24:44Speaker 4: place absolutely. So remember we talked about those fun questions.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yes, I'm on damn so My fun question for you, you.
- 25:03Speaker 4: If you can get a female comedian, because we all
- 25:07Speaker 4: need a great laugh right now, we all just need
- 25:11Speaker 4: to smile. If you can get a female comedian to
- 25:16Speaker 4: narrow narrate your section of sacred seeds of wisdom, who
- 25:24Speaker 4: would you give.
- 25:25Speaker 2: That honor to? And why?
- 25:29Speaker 6: Well, you know if the first person that came to
- 25:33Speaker 6: my mind is Monique, now the only thing you know,
- 25:37Speaker 6: and Monique is born in the same birth of month
- 25:39Speaker 6: as me, in December, so she's a December girl. She's funny.
- 25:43Speaker 6: I probably would choose Monique. I probably just say Monique,
- 25:46Speaker 6: just probably bleak some of it out now, girl, just
- 25:48Speaker 6: just give us the clean verse. But it would be
- 25:51Speaker 6: it would by far I would I would pick Monique.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Yeah, all right. So you're a December me too, December?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yes all right.
- 26:03Speaker 4: So let's say we have an opportunity to have a
- 26:09Speaker 4: female artist place music to your book. What song resonates
- 26:16Speaker 4: with you when it comes to this book.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Let's see if I can think of the name of
- 26:24Speaker 2: her song.
- 26:25Speaker 6: But it would definitely be a Jill Scott song for sure,
- 26:32Speaker 6: because Jill Scott is just Jill Scott. I mean, I
- 26:40Speaker 6: don't you know, I like it is it the way
- 26:42Speaker 6: you love me? But it wouldn't be for this book.
- 26:44Speaker 6: But there's another one that where she says, do you
- 26:47Speaker 6: like it on your colleague Greens?
- 26:49Speaker 2: Do you like I don't know if I can't think
- 26:50Speaker 2: of the name of it, but I know you know
- 26:55Speaker 2: I'm talking about on college Greens. Okay, yes, so it
- 27:01Speaker 2: would be Jill Scott for me though.
- 27:05Speaker 4: I love that answer Jill Scott and Jill Scott done cares.
- 27:09Speaker 4: She said this does me take it and leave it?
- 27:13Speaker 4: I mean she did the star Spangled Bannon, but she
- 27:16Speaker 4: changed all of the wording and that was like you
- 27:19Speaker 4: co girl, Like yes, okay, lifetime is on the line.
- 27:27Speaker 2: They said, you know what.
- 27:28Speaker 4: We love Sacred Seeds of Wisdom, and we want to
- 27:31Speaker 4: make this book into a movie. Who would you I'll
- 27:38Speaker 4: give you two people. Who would you want to play
- 27:44Speaker 4: any part in this book?
- 27:49Speaker 3: Oh?
- 27:49Speaker 2: I'd love for Angela Bassett for sure.
- 27:54Speaker 6: I'd love for her to play a part. She is
- 27:57Speaker 6: so strong and so powerful and I'm trying to think
- 28:03Speaker 6: and trying to think.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Think.
- 28:06Speaker 6: Uh, I could see Karen Washington. I can see her
- 28:09Speaker 6: playing a part in it as well, to represent the bull.
- 28:13Speaker 6: But definitely, uh yeah, that those are the two that
- 28:19Speaker 6: I would definitely pick. Yeah, play a part from yourself. Nonsense.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I actually thought Regina King. Oh yeah, now now yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 2: now that that I'm.
- 28:31Speaker 6: Trying to think of who who part with Regina, Uh,
- 28:36Speaker 6: I probably would get Regina Regina to do Trevida's part.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I only say that because Regina is kind of sure,
- 28:45Speaker 6: she's cute, but she she's a whip.
- 28:48Speaker 2: You know, Regina, Regina is a she's a whip.
- 28:50Speaker 6: So I think that she could probably do Trevida's part
- 28:54Speaker 6: pretty good, pretty good.
- 28:56Speaker 4: So yeah, and if you guys don't know who that is,
- 29:00Speaker 4: Trevida Harris is one of the sisters on our podcast group,
- 29:05Speaker 4: The Divas of the Airway. She is sure and she
- 29:09Speaker 4: is powerful, so.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Don't let it fool you.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Her show is on Sundays, and I want to say
- 29:18Speaker 4: Thursdays if I'm right, Trevida, please let you know. I know,
- 29:23Speaker 4: definitely Sundays and Thursdays. But yes, I you know, I
- 29:28Speaker 4: truly can't see that.
- 29:30Speaker 6: Like Tina King could do Trevida's part for sure. Yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 6: that would be a that'd be a good actress that
- 29:39Speaker 6: could do her story in the book for sure.
- 29:44Speaker 4: All right, Lifetime is back there saying, you know what,
- 29:47Speaker 4: this went off perfectly, and now we want to do
- 29:50Speaker 4: a biopic on you. Who would you give the honor
- 29:55Speaker 4: plane you in your bio pick?
- 29:57Speaker 2: And why did you choose that person?
- 30:00Speaker 6: Oh my goodness, I don't even know.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Honestly, I don't be an actress. It doesn't have to
- 30:14Speaker 4: be a singer. It can be somebody who you know.
- 30:17Speaker 6: Personally, Oh, somebody somebody I know personally.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I don't know. I'd have to get somebody to help
- 30:27Speaker 2: me with that one.
- 30:28Speaker 6: I just I don't know, you know, because in my
- 30:30Speaker 6: younger days, people used to say that Jackie Harry and
- 30:37Speaker 6: myself that we we resembled and had similar personalities. I
- 30:42Speaker 6: don't know though, because Jackie she's I think she's a
- 30:46Speaker 6: bit more flamboyant than me. But but she's funny as
- 30:52Speaker 6: all get out, you know. I might we choose Queen Latifa.
- 30:58Speaker 2: You know, she's funny, she is in tune.
- 31:02Speaker 6: So yeah, that I think that's that's that's that's that
- 31:05Speaker 6: Those are people that I would pick.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Probably somewhere you got some.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Good choices because those women have staying power and they
- 31:13Speaker 4: stay true to theirself. Even when Queen Latifa lost herself
- 31:18Speaker 4: after her brother passed away, she came back and she
- 31:22Speaker 4: came this powerhouse. Jackie has staying power from her show
- 31:29Speaker 4: Women Abused to play sister's sister and who knows what
- 31:32Speaker 4: she gonna be on soon because she's still in some
- 31:35Speaker 4: more movies. So you picked two great choices.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I particularly like that about those actresses. And
- 31:44Speaker 6: you said it right, they have stay in power, and
- 31:46Speaker 6: I think that's pretty true to my character. You know,
- 31:51Speaker 6: they are the queen who bounced back, and I love
- 31:54Speaker 6: I love a sister that bounces back.
- 31:56Speaker 2: But hey, I am a black woman. That was my
- 31:58Speaker 2: first best seller, is I I'm a black woman.
- 32:01Speaker 6: Black women, We're gonna always bounce back. I mean we
- 32:04Speaker 6: that's that's that's what we do. It's in our DNA.
- 32:07Speaker 6: We got we got the.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Spirits and we bounced back. We will have a new
- 32:12Speaker 2: heir do the match. Okay, So okay, new here attitude.
- 32:18Speaker 4: Oh ay, it's just brand new. So that's absolutely correct.
- 32:23Speaker 4: But while we're closing, what would you like to say
- 32:26Speaker 4: to your old readers, your new readers, and the readers
- 32:30Speaker 4: you will gain after this podcast?
- 32:34Speaker 6: Oh well, I'd like I'd like to say, first and
- 32:37Speaker 6: foremost I definitely want you to buy a book. You
- 32:40Speaker 6: can go to my website, which is doctor Carroll and
- 32:43Speaker 6: Stevens dot com and you can purchase the book there.
- 32:49Speaker 6: In conjunction with purchasing the book, I want to encourage
- 32:53Speaker 6: you to write your book. Everybody has the book, everybody
- 32:57Speaker 6: has a story.
- 32:58Speaker 2: There's not enough.
- 33:00Speaker 6: We need more books written by black women for black women,
- 33:05Speaker 6: about black women, just black black black Okay.
- 33:09Speaker 2: And I unapologetically uh.
- 33:14Speaker 6: And that's why I love this platform because I know
- 33:16Speaker 6: that Queen Andreel's not a sister that mine. We talk
- 33:18Speaker 6: about our people, and I apologetically will speak very openly
- 33:26Speaker 6: and supportively about our people and our women because black women,
- 33:31Speaker 6: we are incredible. And the thing is, everything in life
- 33:36Speaker 6: comes from us.
- 33:39Speaker 2: So write. I'd say that, write your book. You know what.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That is one of the reasons why I do this
- 33:47Speaker 4: is because black representation in books in literature and that stereotype.
- 33:56Speaker 4: If you want to hire something, put it in the
- 33:58Speaker 4: book from That is the reason why I do this. Here,
- 34:04Speaker 4: to give authors a color a platform to speak about
- 34:10Speaker 4: their books, their author's journeys.
- 34:13Speaker 2: And if you even.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Got some social cause that you want to talk about,
- 34:17Speaker 4: believe you me, you got me and you got about
- 34:20Speaker 4: I think there's like none of us right now, but
- 34:22Speaker 4: you can come on our show and talk about it.
- 34:25Speaker 6: So yeah, we need to and we need to be
- 34:28Speaker 6: able to talk about it. And I love this platform
- 34:32Speaker 6: because here's the thing. I'm in media right and the
- 34:36Speaker 6: way that we are depicted in media. Definitely didn't want
- 34:40Speaker 6: to leave without saying this, you like you see it, Patrees,
- 34:45Speaker 6: there's something that happens in the community, and they're gonna pick.
- 34:50Speaker 6: They're gonna pick the sister that doesn't know how to articulate. Well,
- 34:56Speaker 6: see dim And look, I'm not knocking nobody for your
- 35:00Speaker 6: education what I'm saying, but what they do, they do
- 35:02Speaker 6: these things intentionally to make it look as if though
- 35:06Speaker 6: we are not intelligent, and that person represents the whole
- 35:10Speaker 6: of who we are. And so I appreciate these kinds
- 35:14Speaker 6: of platforms that put us out there that lets the
- 35:19Speaker 6: world know we are intelligent, we are smart, we are funny,
- 35:22Speaker 6: we are educated. We do know how to talk, we
- 35:26Speaker 6: know how to use the dictionary. Now, depending on what
- 35:29Speaker 6: day of the week it is, you might get told
- 35:31Speaker 6: because we are black women, we can't help that part.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Because we're very passionate but for the.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Most part, we need to be represented as the people
- 35:40Speaker 6: that God has created us to be the powerful, powerful,
- 35:44Speaker 6: dynamic queens that we are, and so we need more
- 35:47Speaker 6: platforms like this that put us out out there demonstrating
- 35:52Speaker 6: and showing who we are. We need more people like
- 35:56Speaker 6: you that pushes us to do the books we do.
- 36:01Speaker 6: Black women writing books for black women. I'm all for it.
- 36:05Speaker 6: I mean, and I think it's very important. And sisters
- 36:08Speaker 6: out there that's listening, let's buy each other's books because
- 36:11Speaker 6: we have to circulate our dollars amongst each other. Okay,
- 36:15Speaker 6: that's how we circulate and we stimulate the economy is
- 36:19Speaker 6: when we buy books from each other. And I won't
- 36:24Speaker 6: go into that, but that's why I told everybody go
- 36:27Speaker 6: to my website and get my book and I'll leave
- 36:30Speaker 6: that right where that is.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I totally understand.
- 36:34Speaker 4: I totally agree with you because I saw it firsthand.
- 36:38Speaker 2: TV sh well, it was a TV shows What's the News, and.
- 36:45Speaker 4: It was so funny how I saw this happened in
- 36:48Speaker 4: front of my eyes. Right, they had a sister who
- 36:52Speaker 4: was dressed. She wasn't dressed well, but she was casually dressed.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Bob maybe.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Eight feet between them two, okay, but then you got
- 37:05Speaker 4: the other sister over here. And I'm not knocking y'all, no,
- 37:09Speaker 4: i am, because if you got a bonnet on in
- 37:12Speaker 4: the street, it doesn't make any sense. Okay, Yes, that
- 37:16Speaker 4: is a pet peeve of mine. If you got a
- 37:19Speaker 4: bonnet on in the street, what's the sense of pain
- 37:21Speaker 4: to get your hair done?
- 37:23Speaker 2: Then?
- 37:23Speaker 4: The purpose of getting your hair done so everybody can
- 37:26Speaker 4: see it? I don't want to see your bonnet.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I'm sorry. No, I'm not sorry, not sorry, not at all.
- 37:34Speaker 2: But they chose the sistem with the bonnet. See what
- 37:39Speaker 2: happens they are.
- 37:42Speaker 4: I'm geechee, I gotta but they chose her. And I'm
- 37:46Speaker 4: sitting up there across the street looking like, really, of
- 37:51Speaker 4: all the people out here, that's what you choose.
- 37:54Speaker 2: But what what we need to understand, those of us
- 37:58Speaker 2: in the media, we know this that is intentional.
- 38:02Speaker 6: That's the thing that that's intentional to do. To do that,
- 38:07Speaker 6: I mean, even when you talk about crime and you
- 38:10Speaker 6: see our boys, our men, so our men and our
- 38:14Speaker 6: boys are the ones that are committing most of the crimes.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Get out of here. There are tons and.
- 38:19Speaker 6: Tons of white boys and white men that are committing crimes,
- 38:24Speaker 6: but you're not gonna hardly see You're not going to
- 38:26Speaker 6: see a plethora of them plastered all over the news.
- 38:30Speaker 6: Why because they want to preserve they want to preserve
- 38:35Speaker 6: the culture.
- 38:36Speaker 2: So if you put if you put us out there, you.
- 38:39Speaker 6: Know, eighty percent of the time, then that means that
- 38:42Speaker 6: we are committing eighty percent of the crime.
- 38:46Speaker 2: So they say logical.
- 38:49Speaker 4: So audience, let me ask you, guys, I mean the
- 38:52Speaker 4: school shootings that you've seen was done by African American
- 38:56Speaker 4: All wait, how many mm hmm.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Let that sink in for a second. Exactly exactly. Somebody
- 39:17Speaker 2: said two and ten years.
- 39:18Speaker 4: That is totally, totally totally what I'm saying, mm hmm.
- 39:27Speaker 6: Not to mention, Not to mention that culturally, there are
- 39:32Speaker 6: some crimes.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I'm not saying.
- 39:36Speaker 6: We're not guilty, Patrice. I mean, you know we're guilty.
- 39:39Speaker 6: We're Oh yeah, we do some stuff. There are something
- 39:45Speaker 6: some things that we just don't do. We don't go
- 39:48Speaker 6: around chopping up our mamas, killing our babies. These are
- 39:52Speaker 6: not were we're culturally, We're not guilty of that. Black
- 39:57Speaker 6: people are by far some of the most loving, the
- 39:59Speaker 6: most embracing people that ever walked the face of the planet.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Will take care of us.
- 40:04Speaker 6: We'll take care of your children, their children, regardless of
- 40:08Speaker 6: whatever culture you you you come from, other cultures come
- 40:11Speaker 6: and they're accepted and nurtured by our culture, by our women,
- 40:17Speaker 6: you know.
- 40:18Speaker 2: So, I think it's very important.
- 40:20Speaker 6: Kudos to Queen Angela for having this platform for any
- 40:25Speaker 6: woman that has something on television.
- 40:27Speaker 2: We need more of it. Uh, we need more of it.
- 40:30Speaker 6: We need more movies that depict us in a proper light,
- 40:35Speaker 6: in the light that we should be in to tell
- 40:38Speaker 6: our story, whether that's a book, whether that's television, whether
- 40:42Speaker 6: that's a podcast, so that our story is authentically it's
- 40:49Speaker 6: being told, not what they not tell us, because that's
- 40:54Speaker 6: all psychological.
- 40:56Speaker 2: That's that's not that's not facts, what they understand that
- 41:00Speaker 2: it's it's crazy. Because woo, y'all.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Just let's put it like this, y'all. I'm glad I
- 41:10Speaker 4: worked for the people that I work for.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Too.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Wo y'all, I'm glad I work for the people who
- 41:19Speaker 4: I work for because some of the things I want
- 41:21Speaker 4: to say, if it wasn't for these two people that
- 41:23Speaker 4: I had to feed, and these two people that God
- 41:26Speaker 4: insisted in giving me who I love daily. I will
- 41:30Speaker 4: tell y'all a couple of things. But hey, that day
- 41:33Speaker 4: is going to come because they got.
- 41:34Speaker 6: To grow up and that that that that day will come.
- 41:40Speaker 6: But what what, what's even sadder for me is that
- 41:45Speaker 6: I want my people to stop drinking the kool aid. Though,
- 41:48Speaker 6: that's all I'm saying. Okay, let's let's let's let's let's stop.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Let's stop drinking kool aid. Oh it's got to be
- 41:55Speaker 6: true because we saw it on TV. Are you serious
- 42:01Speaker 6: now that they gave you what? They gave you what
- 42:06Speaker 6: they wanted you to believe. And the thing about media,
- 42:12Speaker 6: The thing about TV is that it works by way
- 42:16Speaker 6: of repetition. So if you're constantly seeing an image constantly
- 42:22Speaker 6: back to back to back to back, you know, you
- 42:26Speaker 6: know that how media works. It's it's psychological.
- 42:32Speaker 5: You know.
- 42:32Speaker 6: If I if I say just do it, immediately, everybody's
- 42:36Speaker 6: going to tell me what brand that's associated with? You know,
- 42:43Speaker 6: you know I say do do do do do, I'm
- 42:45Speaker 6: loving it, Everybody's gonna know who that's with. So media
- 42:49Speaker 6: knows that there is a psychological conditioning that has to
- 42:53Speaker 6: happen in order to get people to buy into something.
- 42:57Speaker 6: So we are being psychologically condition and I would like
- 43:02Speaker 6: to add on to that, we are being raped with
- 43:05Speaker 6: our pants up because we're constantly being fed these images
- 43:10Speaker 6: that are just not true, and then we buy, we
- 43:14Speaker 6: buy into it, and we can't say we don't buy
- 43:16Speaker 6: into it. Because if we have our men of creating
- 43:21Speaker 6: music where we're calling where they're calling us b's and
- 43:24Speaker 6: h's and stuff like that. Brother, you drink the kool aid.
- 43:28Speaker 6: You drink the kool aid. That's what you did. You
- 43:30Speaker 6: drank the kool aid. Okay that, So you know we
- 43:36Speaker 6: have to we have to. That's why we have to
- 43:38Speaker 6: create our own media. We have to have our own
- 43:40Speaker 6: voices so we can tell our stories the.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Way that they need to be told. And that's the
- 43:47Speaker 2: first music that they hear.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Because I can't think and I might be wrong of
- 43:54Speaker 4: a song where as someone of an white person, I'm
- 43:59Speaker 4: gonna go straight there.
- 44:01Speaker 2: And yes, I do love some of y'all, but some
- 44:02Speaker 2: of y'all can't deal with is.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Down plane and using the words that we're using our
- 44:09Speaker 4: song against their women.
- 44:12Speaker 6: You're not gonna find it. You're not gonna find an
- 44:14Speaker 6: Oriental man talking about his woman. You're not gonna find
- 44:18Speaker 6: even in the Caucasian man. You know, he's singing this
- 44:20Speaker 6: country western song. He's not gonna call her be I
- 44:23Speaker 6: T c H. He's not gonna call her age. You know,
- 44:26Speaker 6: he's not gonna see that. We're we're gonna do that, right,
- 44:30Speaker 6: We're gonna do that. But but here's what, here's what's
- 44:35Speaker 6: Saturday again? Because I believe in on the ship. But
- 44:39Speaker 6: you know women, they are women that are sitting and
- 44:42Speaker 6: bopping their head and they buying that music, right, they
- 44:46Speaker 6: buying it. They supporting it instead of saying, listen, brother,
- 44:50Speaker 6: we're not supporting nothing with you downgradeing us, We're not
- 44:54Speaker 6: gonna support you. And let me tell you something. If
- 44:57Speaker 6: any man wants to be successful, he know that there
- 45:00Speaker 6: is one thing that he must have in order to
- 45:04Speaker 6: go to the next level, and that would be a
- 45:07Speaker 6: black woman. If you plan on being successful, you must
- 45:14Speaker 6: have black women in your corner because we make stuff happening.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Oh Lord, to be down going off the plane. I
- 45:23Speaker 2: got y'all.
- 45:23Speaker 4: I got my hands sitting on my desk like trees
- 45:26Speaker 4: looking ahead. Look at here, old doctor Carolyn. Please tell
- 45:30Speaker 4: us where we can get your book from, how we
- 45:32Speaker 4: can follow you.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Just give us the running down. I see you in
- 45:39Speaker 2: the in the post. It's somebody.
- 45:43Speaker 6: I think it's They got two out there now talking
- 45:46Speaker 6: about venching and hanging.
- 45:49Speaker 4: And share it vide on TikTok and they cancel Kanye
- 45:53Speaker 4: for talking Let me and they cancel Kanye for talking
- 45:59Speaker 4: down about another reason white privilege is real.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Yes it is yo ooh.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Love of Jesus, come down trees. Who yo? I saw
- 46:10Speaker 4: that video. I saw another picture. There was a pastor
- 46:15Speaker 4: in Georgia and she there is a newspaper article where
- 46:22Speaker 4: they are suiting up in their white suit and their
- 46:26Speaker 4: coon hats. Yes it's a small but here's the thing
- 46:35Speaker 4: that that's not really no shock for trees.
- 46:38Speaker 6: Like did we think the crew cross down with dead
- 46:40Speaker 6: or something. Nah, they're not there. They just took off.
- 46:44Speaker 6: They just took off them hoods and stuff like that,
- 46:47Speaker 6: and they put on doctors suits and eyes. Yes, they're
- 46:51Speaker 6: not dead, because that's a spirit. See, racism is a spirit.
- 46:59Speaker 6: It's a dmonic spirit. It just it just it just
- 47:03Speaker 6: infeels traits its way into other people. But do we
- 47:08Speaker 6: think like after slavery was over, like that was gonna
- 47:11Speaker 6: die or whatever.
- 47:14Speaker 2: No, it has not. It has not gone anywhere.
- 47:17Speaker 6: It's just it's just dressed up in a different in
- 47:20Speaker 6: a different set of clothes.
- 47:22Speaker 2: I mean that that that's about that's about all.
- 47:25Speaker 6: My My family is from South Carolina, and uh, I
- 47:30Speaker 6: have friends who is a very small town called Bamberg,
- 47:32Speaker 6: South Carolina, right and in this town. At that time,
- 47:37Speaker 6: my former mother in law was having problems with her
- 47:40Speaker 6: legs and she says, well, the doctor told me that
- 47:44Speaker 6: I need to get my leg amputated.
- 47:46Speaker 2: But here's the thing, Patrice.
- 47:48Speaker 6: Then I found out because that's I was walking around
- 47:52Speaker 6: and and and and looking at nearby town near Bamberg.
- 47:57Speaker 6: It's like every other person had their leg amput Like
- 48:01Speaker 6: the doctors are telling y'all, whatever problem you got, Like
- 48:06Speaker 6: your problem could be way up here in your neck,
- 48:08Speaker 6: but your legs need to be amputated.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 48:12Speaker 6: This is intentional and this stuff, this this stuff is
- 48:17Speaker 6: just it's intentional, you know, because we are targeted for
- 48:21Speaker 6: this kind of things. This shouldn't be like like every
- 48:25Speaker 6: other person in the town walking around with no leg
- 48:28Speaker 6: or no arm and telling me that that's that's a
- 48:31Speaker 6: health issue. Now, that's not a health the issue, you know,
- 48:35Speaker 6: that's racial targeting. We're being targeted, and we have to
- 48:40Speaker 6: you know, be more into the way. The way that
- 48:43Speaker 6: we stay in tune is that we you know, we
- 48:45Speaker 6: talk about it, and we better talk about it before
- 48:47Speaker 6: folks go around censoring us.
- 48:49Speaker 2: And then we can't be we won't be able to
- 48:50Speaker 2: say nothing, okay, story because they are started that.
- 48:56Speaker 4: And and and and yeah, they already started that, you know.
- 49:02Speaker 4: And I and I am sc buck yald, so I
- 49:05Speaker 4: totally understand where you're coming from.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and you know, we were gonna have to
- 49:11Speaker 2: come back. Me and you're gonna have to come back.
- 49:16Speaker 4: I don't even care if we do a pre recorded
- 49:20Speaker 4: interview and then share it.
- 49:22Speaker 2: But me and you we're gonna come back and we
- 49:24Speaker 2: gonna have us a good little chit chat.
- 49:27Speaker 4: But yes, Lord Jesus, y'all go grab secret of wisdom.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 49:38Speaker 4: And it is true, Trevita said, it is very much
- 49:42Speaker 4: important to advocate for yourself when it comes to your health.
- 49:47Speaker 2: That is true because.
- 49:48Speaker 4: When I took my daughter to the doctor about a
- 49:52Speaker 4: week and a half ago, they were like, when I
- 49:55Speaker 4: picked her up at school, Oh, she just have a fever,
- 49:57Speaker 4: let her go home. I looked my child in the
- 49:59Speaker 4: eye and I say, it is not a fever. It
- 50:02Speaker 4: is not a fever. And yes it was something minor.
- 50:04Speaker 2: It's COVID.
- 50:05Speaker 4: But it could have been worse because I lost my
- 50:07Speaker 4: sister to the flu. It could have been way worse.
- 50:10Speaker 4: So yes, we do have the advocate for ourselves, even personally.
- 50:14Speaker 4: You guys, I am, you're not wrong with therapy. I'm
- 50:19Speaker 4: getting back with one they sent me to. I said,
- 50:24Speaker 4: do you have somebody African American female I prefer.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Oh, we can find one. She's all the way in Florence. Cool.
- 50:32Speaker 2: It's called online virtual they could do what to do.
- 50:36Speaker 2: These are services that I gave every day.
- 50:39Speaker 4: So yes, I thank you for joining me tonight, Doctor Stevens.
- 50:45Speaker 2: We went, thank you for having me.
- 50:47Speaker 6: I had a wonderful time, wonderful looking forward to us

- 50:58Speaker 4: Yes, yes, yes, And you guys before we end out,
- 51:04Speaker 4: I know, and I had this conversation with my son.
- 51:08Speaker 4: I know we all think, oh, I'm not gonna do it.
- 51:11Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. I'm not gonna do it.
- 51:14Speaker 2: But y'all go get your voter registration, go pick up
- 51:22Speaker 2: your neighbor you're eighteen year old. When they get that
- 51:26Speaker 2: driver's license, go get them.
- 51:28Speaker 4: A voter registration card. Have a voting party when you
- 51:32Speaker 4: go out with your girls. Make sure everybody voting. Hey, yo,
- 51:36Speaker 4: let me see your card. If you got your card. Now,
- 51:38Speaker 4: I'm not telling y'all to drink, but this can be
- 51:40Speaker 4: an idea. If you got your car, the first drink's
- 51:43Speaker 4: on me. Let's get back into voting. It's something that
- 51:48Speaker 4: our ancestors fought for that we're losing because we're not
- 51:51Speaker 4: fighting for it anymore. Okay, I actually go help at
- 51:57Speaker 4: the polls. Yes, I do it for the mono Harry Good,
- 52:00Speaker 4: but then I also do it because I want these
- 52:02Speaker 4: little black boys and little black girls to see a
- 52:04Speaker 4: black woman. Okay, so you guys, promise me go get
- 52:11Speaker 4: your voter registration because it comes down to the next
- 52:13Speaker 4: time we vote, and then this situation happened again and
- 52:17Speaker 4: you didn't vote. I don't want to hear you. I
- 52:19Speaker 4: don't want to hear anything you got to say. I'll
