- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, today we are talking about success and self-discipline.
- 0:34Not being the only key to making it happen.
- 0:38So you're probably surprised hearing me don't knowing what I
- 0:41do to say self-discipline is not the only key because, you know,
- 0:46that's pretty much what a lot of self-development people teach.
- 0:50It's all self, discipline, self, discipline, self discipline.
- 0:53And, yes, that is a huge piece of it.
- 0:55And at the same time, there are other things that you have to
- 0:58consider. And we've been talking about
- 1:00some of them this week where you have to work on your environment
- 1:03and you have to, you know, stack your small decisions and kind of
- 1:08reward yourself in that way by saying.
- 1:10Okay I'm going to give myself that pause in time before I
- 1:13actually go ahead and, you know, jump into things but one of the
- 1:18biggest things that will help you in your process of going
- 1:22through and saying, okay, how do I create this successes that I
- 1:26am looking for, in my life you're going to be surprised by
- 1:29this. Two things that make a heat.
- 1:30Absolutely huge difference. Is eliminating, your
- 1:33distractions. Oh God.
- 1:36If I had to tell you, one thing that I think is probably the
- 1:40most difficult thing for people to do.
- 1:43It's to eliminate your distractions because they happen
- 1:46and they happen a lot and they happen consistently.
- 1:51So we talked about keeping our kids off social media and making
- 1:54sure that our kids are safe, but do we do that with ourselves and
- 1:57what a tremendous distraction It is so recently I had my one of
- 2:03my iPad the pad that use all the time to take notes for clients
- 2:06stopped working and I had to shift and get a new iPad.
- 2:09So when I got it I made a decision to not allow it to go
- 2:14on any social media. Even though I have social media,
- 2:18I use it to connect with all my friends from all over the world.
- 2:20Having spent you know a lot of time at events all over the
- 2:24world. I have friends all over the
- 2:26world and I like to connect with them that way and I you know
- 2:30everyone has mixed emotions about social media.
- 2:32Mine tend to lean more towards the good side and the bad side
- 2:35because that's what I use it for and I don't let the bad stuff in
- 2:39but I'll be at let me loop back to this so I didn't put Facebook
- 2:44on it. I didn't put Instagram on it.
- 2:47I didn't put LinkedIn on it. I just kept it so that yes, it
- 2:51can get on. Obviously I can Google on it.
- 2:54I can take notes on it but I used it for all of my For the
- 2:59greater good as far as I was concerned and those apps for the
- 3:02greater good happened to be things like, you know, master
- 3:06class and good notes, which is where I take all the notes from
- 3:10my clients I have on their Learning Channel.
- 3:15So, like Discovery Channel, I use that because they have some
- 3:18great classes in the Magnolia app, which is the chip and
- 3:24Joanna Gaines format. And for me, It'd be just became
- 3:30something. That was important that I stick
- 3:34to that. Yes, I've got all my photo
- 3:36editor editing apps up there, you know, things like that, that
- 3:40I'm using. But I don't allow myself to get
- 3:42distracted with the stuff that takes you down a rabbit hole,
- 3:46and it made an a massive difference in my well-being.
- 3:51When I stopped allowing that to happen, distractions kill us
- 3:56every single day we start off to do something.
- 3:59And before you know it you're doing something else.
- 4:01You walk into a room you say, okay, I'm going to go get the
- 4:04laundry you walk in, you realize, oh I didn't feed the
- 4:06cat, okay, go feed the cat and then not that the cat didn't
- 4:09need to be fed, but that was not the intention of what you were
- 4:12doing. So what's incredibly important
- 4:15about the the path to success is eliminating, the distractions
- 4:21and staying on task to what you said you were going to do and
- 4:26not having the distractions present in your Your world.
- 4:30So when you eliminate them you have less of an opportunity to
- 4:32go off the rails. Stop eliminate him.
- 4:35It's the same thing as having cookies in your house.
- 4:39If you are you know working really hard to get healthy.
- 4:42Don't have cookies if you know you are not disciplined to not
- 4:46eat the cookies. If you have small children and
- 4:50you're trying to get healthy and you are someone who can't throw
- 4:53food away, and you keep eating what's left over on their plate.
- 4:57You have got to eliminate that in your life.
- 5:00So you have to say, to the kids, clear your plates.
- 5:03Don't don't let the kids, leave the plate sitting on the
- 5:06counter, let them throw the food away so you don't have to have
- 5:09the distraction of eating it and look for all these other little
- 5:13things in your world. If you work with someone who's
- 5:16constantly distracting you or apps like, Slack that constantly
- 5:19go off that. We have to have in order to stay
- 5:22connected. I use it.
- 5:23I get it completely works. And I have to silence it
- 5:28sometimes so that I can focus. I shut the distractions down.
- 5:31So today's message, shut the damn distractions down.
- 5:35If you want to be successful and move yourself further in your
- 5:39path of self-discipline. All right, my friends.
- 5:41I will see you tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 5:44Bye.
