- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, hey, hey, Yeah, I got to tell you something, man,
- 0:04Speaker 1: and I am so excited about this. And I don't
- 0:08Speaker 1: know anything about this company. I don't know anything about
- 0:11Speaker 1: what uh you know. All I know is it's working
- 0:16Speaker 1: for my kids, and it's gotten my kids off of
- 0:18Speaker 1: video games and it's got me playing the shit too,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and it's really it's a lot of fun and everything.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's called Gravi Tracks. Have you heard of it?
- 0:27Speaker 2: I saw it on Casey's Instagram and explain it to
- 0:31Speaker 2: people who don't know what it is. But on I
- 0:33Speaker 2: saw what Rocko built and it was fucking awesome.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So Gravitracks is like a marble racing obstacle
- 0:42Speaker 1: course slash uh.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I want to like it reminds you of like old
- 0:48Speaker 2: school Hot Wheels tracks.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Kind of like that also, but also like Lego also
- 0:53Speaker 1: because you have to build and it shows you pictures
- 0:56Speaker 1: of things you need to make the obstacle course and
- 1:00Speaker 1: everything work. It's really awesome and the accessories that come
- 1:05Speaker 1: with it, you know, are very creative. Also. There's like
- 1:08Speaker 1: elevators and you know, trampolines and catapults and you know,
- 1:13Speaker 1: sling shot like crazy things like loop de loops like
- 1:17Speaker 1: crazy things.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And you get into it with your son, so you're like,
- 1:21Speaker 2: you don't feel like you're playing something that's you know,
- 1:24Speaker 2: it's cool because you're as interested as he is. So
- 1:26Speaker 2: you're actually playing with your kids something that's fun for
- 1:29Speaker 2: you both.
- 1:29Speaker 1: All Right. When I was a kid, Times Square has
- 1:32Speaker 1: this place called Port Authority. It's where all the buses
- 1:35Speaker 1: come into New York City, right, and growing up that
- 1:38Speaker 1: place was like a freaking scary ass you know, dirty.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You know. They made a television show about the neighborhood
- 1:46Speaker 1: I grew up in, and it's about pimps and prostitutes
- 1:49Speaker 1: and crackheads and you know, the beauty of forty second
- 1:53Speaker 1: Street and where all the movie theaters were, right, they
- 1:55Speaker 1: made a move a television show about it. Anyway, Qort
- 2:00Speaker 1: Authority had this thing and it had like a bunch
- 2:02Speaker 1: of pool cue ball you know, balls from you know,
- 2:08Speaker 1: from the pool table, so like from one all the
- 2:11Speaker 1: way to was it twelve balls, right, And they had
- 2:14Speaker 1: a bunch of them and they created something very similar
- 2:17Speaker 1: to what Gravitracks is doing, and it would but this
- 2:21Speaker 1: thing made like music, and I remember as a kid,
- 2:24Speaker 1: people used to surround this thing, because it was like
- 2:27Speaker 1: this clever contraption of you know, winding. You know, if
- 2:32Speaker 1: anybody out there remembers the sesame street one, two, three, four, five,
- 2:38Speaker 1: Sixcess nine eleven twelve, right that remember how the cartoon
- 2:45Speaker 1: went where it was like a pinball machine. But then
- 2:47Speaker 1: when you when you hit the ball, it went inside
- 2:49Speaker 1: one of the holes. And then now the ball's on
- 2:51Speaker 1: a track and rolling all around us. That's what Gravi
- 2:54Speaker 1: Tracks is, man, And it's amazing. It's so much fun.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's so much fun. We have so much fun with
- 2:59Speaker 1: the The kids have been doing it for two days
- 3:01Speaker 1: straight without being on a television screen, without you know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: with it's just them and their mind and their imagination
- 3:08Speaker 1: and awesome. I just want to give a shout out
- 3:10Speaker 1: to them, uh and say, yo, thank you so much for.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Saving I'm sure lots of parents are looking for any
- 3:18Speaker 2: way to have their kids be fascinated by something other
- 3:20Speaker 2: than video.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Games absolutely or television. You know. Uh. It makes kids
- 3:26Speaker 1: have to use their brains. There's a lot of math involved,
- 3:30Speaker 1: you know, it's very specific in how things work, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: then you have to be creative with what you're given
- 3:37Speaker 1: in that realm. It's really awesome.
- 3:38Speaker 2: That's awesome. All right, Well, everybody check that out. We
- 3:42Speaker 2: got to talk about wonder Woman, because I don't I
- 3:45Speaker 2: really am confused about wonder Woman. I don't know what
- 3:48Speaker 2: the hell was going on. And I know I'm speaking
- 3:52Speaker 2: to three fans of superhero movies. I don't ever like
- 3:56Speaker 2: to diss anyone involved in creative endeavors because it is
- 3:59Speaker 2: so fucking hard to make anything, and thousands of people
- 4:02Speaker 2: worked on this movie, and there's so much talent. The
- 4:04Speaker 2: actors are all amazing. I know the director is amazing.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I just want to know from three people who like
- 4:11Speaker 2: these sort of things what that was.
- 4:18Speaker 1: But a great question, Zach, Joe, you go first, you
- 4:23Speaker 1: want to talk about it.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I feel like this is the branded direction DC has
- 4:30Speaker 3: chosen to go in where they don't mind making these
- 4:34Speaker 3: sort of like be heavy camp films.
- 4:39Speaker 1: But they're not for me. But four like them.
- 4:43Speaker 2: We were they four because I was watching it, going
- 4:46Speaker 2: is a kid gonna get any of this?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Children?
- 4:51Speaker 3: It's for adults, specifically guys I think who are really
- 4:54Speaker 3: into like old school comics which didn't always have to
- 4:58Speaker 3: make sense like the the basis of reality or even
- 5:01Speaker 3: have like strong structure. Now there's a lot of great
- 5:03Speaker 3: like classic comic books, but also there was a genre
- 5:06Speaker 3: of comics specifically for looking at late eighties early nineties,
- 5:10Speaker 3: where like the physics were off and the body mechanics
- 5:12Speaker 3: were way off, and there's like no sense of reality
- 5:15Speaker 3: and there's no sort of tie to like, oh, I
- 5:18Speaker 3: need a great American hero. And it's not even you know,
- 5:20Speaker 3: sixties cheesiness. It was just like wild, extreme, like pumped
- 5:25Speaker 3: up nineties kind of stuff. And those fans have really
- 5:27Speaker 3: clung to like that ideal of superheroism. That's like what
- 5:30Speaker 3: they really enjoy and so you know, you don't need
- 5:33Speaker 3: a motivational reason for a Cheeta lady to happen. She
- 5:36Speaker 3: just happens and it's totally fine. It's not for me.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I think there's like especially a disappointing that Wonder Woman
- 5:43Speaker 3: doesn't get to be the center character in her own movie.
- 5:47Speaker 3: It's a little disappointing. I really like Wonder Woman. There's
- 5:49Speaker 3: a lot of great source material for her, and for me,
- 5:52Speaker 3: it doesn't do the character justice. But I also don't
- 5:55Speaker 3: want to take anything away from DC fans. I'm a
- 5:56Speaker 3: true believer that like, if you like.
- 5:58Speaker 2: A thing, you know and the DC fans like this movie.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I haven't searched the internet to know if it's well
- 6:03Speaker 2: received or not. I don't even have critics liked it.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I didn't even look to see what critics liked it.
- 6:08Speaker 3: It was critically panned, and it seems to me that
- 6:11Speaker 3: while some DC fans were like, no, this is a
- 6:13Speaker 3: solid superhero movie, it's certainly not getting the praise of
- 6:17Speaker 3: like Justice League or the the Call for you know,
- 6:21Speaker 3: Zack Snyder Cut or anything like that. So I think
- 6:23Speaker 3: it's sort of middling.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I have I have a real problem. Listen, we got
- 6:29Speaker 1: we were really excited to watch it.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 6:32Speaker 1: We were really excited because.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I love all those actors.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and great cast, great cast. And the first
- 6:42Speaker 1: three minutes of the movie with the little Girl of
- 6:44Speaker 1: the is the best part of the movie to me,
- 6:47Speaker 1: where she uh is in the race and at the
- 6:51Speaker 1: last minute her I don't want to spoil it, so
- 6:53Speaker 1: I'm going to shut up, but she's in the race
- 6:56Speaker 1: and uh, that was the best part of the movie.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And then the minute this is where I was like,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I think we're in trouble now. I'm not hating on
- 7:03Speaker 1: this movie. I'm not hating on this movie. I don't
- 7:06Speaker 1: want to hate on this movie, but this is where
- 7:07Speaker 1: I was like, oh, we're in trouble. When Wonder Woman
- 7:11Speaker 1: turned back around and winked at the little girl, I
- 7:13Speaker 1: was like, oh, uh oh o oh no, And what
- 7:20Speaker 1: did it for me? Because and because my wife is
- 7:23Speaker 1: a great judge of what you know, what's to come,
- 7:26Speaker 1: Like she figured out the usual suspect before you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: the minute the movie started. She was like, oh, that's
- 7:32Speaker 1: kinds of that's kinds of right, yeah, And I was like, oh, okay.
- 7:36Speaker 1: She she said, uh oh these are her exact words.
- 7:40Speaker 1: She went like this, She went uh oh. And I
- 7:43Speaker 1: was like what what what? What what? And she was like, uh,
- 7:48Speaker 1: if the rest of the movie is like this, we
- 7:49Speaker 1: got a problem. What was with all the slow mo?
- 7:55Speaker 1: What was with all the slow I don't know.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I have to say I Wonder Woman understand how she
- 8:01Speaker 2: could fly.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I mean that she's always been able to do that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: She's always been able to do that. Hold on, now, now,
- 8:07Speaker 1: let's let's if you.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Want to go and told me on Twitter that she
- 8:10Speaker 2: was last doing the lightning.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I didn't know. Okay, I've never seen her do that before.
- 8:16Speaker 1: But Wonder Woman has always been able to fly. What
- 8:18Speaker 1: was weird was why does she have the invisible jet
- 8:21Speaker 1: because she can fly? That was always the that was
- 8:24Speaker 1: always the argument, you know what I mean, Like, what's
- 8:26Speaker 1: the point of the invisible jet if you can fly?
- 8:30Speaker 1: But so as far as that goes, her powers and
- 8:33Speaker 1: everything like that are top notch uh and and they're
- 8:38Speaker 1: dying and they're and they're but they're doing it justice, man, Like,
- 8:42Speaker 1: that's that's the truth. She's supposed to be. If Superman
- 8:45Speaker 1: is the male version of what is the most powerful,
- 8:48Speaker 1: wonder Woman is the female version of what is the
- 8:51Speaker 1: most powerful? You know what I mean? Like they're supposed
- 8:54Speaker 1: to be the Titans that protect Earth, you know what,
- 8:57Speaker 1: And that that that is a parent in this movie.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It's clear if you are a mere mortal on this
- 9:03Speaker 1: planet and you go against her, and you go against Diana,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you're gonna get your ass kick.
- 9:09Speaker 2: On the other side of things, we all loved Soul, right,
- 9:12Speaker 2: Soul was incredible.
- 9:14Speaker 3: You didn't like Soul, Joelle, I have so many feelings
- 9:18Speaker 3: about Soul. It's a beautiful film. I cried at the end.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I think structurally it's very sound. I sort of wish
- 9:27Speaker 3: in the way that Coco got to experience and after
- 9:29Speaker 3: life that was authentic to a culture. I wish Soul
- 9:31Speaker 3: had provided us with an afterlife authentic to Black culture.
- 9:37Speaker 3: But performances outstanding. I really really did enjoy just watching
- 9:42Speaker 3: the film.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Animation was stunning. I thought, beautiful, beautiful art. I saw
- 9:47Speaker 2: someone coming on Twitter and one of them like the
- 9:50Speaker 2: body types, and it wasn't just African Americans being the
- 9:53Speaker 2: star of the show, but the way that they the
- 9:56Speaker 2: artists drew different body types and facial types and shapes
- 9:59Speaker 2: and sizes, the way they drew his barber. I mean,
- 10:02Speaker 2: I just love I loved this. The art of it
- 10:04Speaker 2: I thought was medical.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I loved Soul for a lot of reasons, but mostly
- 10:14Speaker 1: for like there there's something special about an artist when
- 10:17Speaker 1: they can inspire you. And usually when an artist does that,
- 10:20Speaker 1: they win Academy Awards and stuff like that. And Jamie
- 10:25Speaker 1: Fox is one of those artists. When he gets it right,
- 10:27Speaker 1: when the movie is right, and when he's in that zone,
- 10:31Speaker 1: he really can inspire you, you know what I mean,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Like he really his talent is top notch. When the
- 10:38Speaker 1: when the cards are in his favor and he's playing
- 10:41Speaker 1: that hand, you know what, I mean, like I and
- 10:46Speaker 1: this is one of the This ray is one of those,
- 10:48Speaker 1: but this one also it's like you listen to him
- 10:51Speaker 1: and you're like, holy cow, I need to be a
- 10:55Speaker 1: voice actor. I think. I think I think if I
- 10:59Speaker 1: focus really hard, I could be a voice actor. Oh
- 11:02Speaker 1: you know what I mean. He just makes it seem
- 11:03Speaker 1: like you can do it too, and it's a gift
- 11:05Speaker 1: that you have. I once told him that, and I
- 11:07Speaker 1: think it came off kind of wrong, and he was like, well.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, dude, man, make you
- 11:12Speaker 1: make people feel like they can win oscars. He was like, well, shit, motherfucker,
- 11:16Speaker 1: go get you one.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Then I was like, though he was laughing with you,
- 11:24Speaker 2: I was like, A right.
- 11:26Speaker 1: All right, my bad, but yo. Anyway, the point is
- 11:30Speaker 1: he's just amazing in this role. And when it comes
- 11:33Speaker 1: to music, it really does. You know, he really does shine,
- 11:36Speaker 1: whether he's talking it or singing it or you know,
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know, there's just something special about him when it
- 11:44Speaker 1: comes to that.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a beautiful movie, I think, and everyone should
- 11:48Speaker 2: see it, even if you're not. If you know I
- 11:50Speaker 2: I I thought it was just artful and Pixar man,
- 11:54Speaker 2: do they have it do they have it down. It's
- 11:58Speaker 2: just almost every single time flawless.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Daniel, you didn't see that one either, did You.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Didn't see it yet?
- 12:04Speaker 2: Daniel was building computers. I wanted to talk about all
- 12:10Speaker 2: the all the pictures of those of you who bought onesies.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Donald and I are both loving all the pictures you're posting.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It brings a giant smile to our face. We love
- 12:19Speaker 2: that you love this podcast. I just be sentimental for
- 12:22Speaker 2: one second before Donald counts us in. You know the
- 12:25Speaker 2: amount of love that you shower upon the four of
- 12:27Speaker 2: us on social media, and it really means a lot.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And I saw so much varying from silliness and someone
- 12:36Speaker 2: in a onesie eagling their their husband to someone saying
- 12:40Speaker 2: this show probably saved my life. No joking around this year.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And I just want you to know that we we
- 12:48Speaker 2: hear it, and we love you, and we did not
- 12:50Speaker 2: think we'd make this much of a difference, but it
- 12:52Speaker 2: means so much to all of us when we see
- 12:55Speaker 2: your reaction. You're here, amen, and so we're going to
- 12:59Speaker 2: keep entertaining you because that's what we're here to do
- 13:02Speaker 2: is hopefully put a smile on your face. Right Donald,
- 13:06Speaker 2: absolutely all right.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I second that.
- 13:09Speaker 2: All right, well, let's let's uh, why don't we rewatch
- 13:12Speaker 2: an episode of Scrubs and discussing made about a bunch of.
- 13:24Speaker 5: A story.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so, do you have your recap ready?
- 13:40Speaker 1: I do have my recap ready. How did you feel
- 13:45Speaker 1: about this episode?
- 13:46Speaker 2: I thought it was very silly. It was very short.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It felt shorter than normal.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Here's here's something I don't understand. How do you make
- 13:53Speaker 1: an episode that really is only funny if you've smoked
- 13:56Speaker 1: a lot of weed about about you know, uh, you
- 14:01Speaker 1: know this is your brain on drugs? How do you
- 14:03Speaker 1: make you know what I mean? Like, this show has
- 14:06Speaker 1: so many like if if you're stoned and you're watching this,
- 14:08Speaker 1: this is a very very funny episode, like like the
- 14:11Speaker 1: type of episode where you go out your nose because
- 14:14Speaker 1: you laughed so hard. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 14:16Speaker 2: I felt like if I were since you asked me,
- 14:18Speaker 2: it's like the writers were. I can tell when the
- 14:21Speaker 2: room and when the vibe of the writer's room was
- 14:24Speaker 2: particularly stonery and silly that week. Absolutely now one of
- 14:28Speaker 2: the main of this episode. But the Brain on Drugs episode,
- 14:32Speaker 2: the b story is essentially that the janitor.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Wait, let me get into the RecA.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Okay, okay, but I mean it's definitely an If you
- 14:43Speaker 2: had a stoner friend who wasn't into scrubs, I suppose
- 14:46Speaker 2: you'd probably start with Wizard of Oz with musical, but
- 14:48Speaker 2: this might be one to show them.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Right, absolutely, absolutely, all right.
- 14:54Speaker 2: All right, hold on, hold on, hold on, stop watch
- 14:56Speaker 2: and go.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Jad and Carla have really bonded over the last few year.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Turk's sick of being nagged over his butt watching habits,
- 15:04Speaker 1: Elliot and Cox think differently of a patient, and the
- 15:07Speaker 1: janitor is maybe the most desperate we've ever seen him.
- 15:12Speaker 1: What are the limits to fidelity? When does it become infidelity?
- 15:17Speaker 1: That's not up for anyone to decide, but you my
- 15:20Speaker 1: personal belief, if you need to lie for whatever reason,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you're probably doing more harm to the situation than helping.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Communication is always key.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Amen on communication being always key. But Turk can't be
- 15:34Speaker 2: looking and fucking all these asses.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Why not? Why not? Why not? Why not?
- 15:39Speaker 2: If his wife says and means it and isn't bullshitting
- 15:42Speaker 2: If she says, honey, honestly, you're a man, and I
- 15:46Speaker 2: don't find it disrespectful, and I'm gonna look at that
- 15:48Speaker 2: ass too, she's got a great ass. Whatever the whatever
- 15:50Speaker 2: their whatever their rules are, and it's honest. She's not
- 15:54Speaker 2: just putting it on to be cool, to be cool wife.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And this communication okay, I'm just saying, if it's real,
- 16:02Speaker 2: if it's not just like she's like, oh, I don't
- 16:04Speaker 2: want to be like uptight. I'm gonna pretend like I'm
- 16:05Speaker 2: okay with it, but really I'm crying inside. I mean,
- 16:08Speaker 2: Turk is like when she says go, he turns and
- 16:11Speaker 2: he just looks at the ass like this.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I feel like Turk and Carla might be open for
- 16:15Speaker 1: a little you know, uh, you know, we talked about
- 16:19Speaker 1: it before, you know, JD kind of things. It's possible.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I think they're open to a little, you know, in
- 16:25Speaker 1: a marital.
- 16:26Speaker 2: First of all, I don't think this episode. First of all,
- 16:28Speaker 2: she goes on a date. This was so weird, Like
- 16:31Speaker 2: she goes on a date and JD doesn't tell Turk
- 16:34Speaker 2: but don't give a.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Shit either, Yes you would have, but he doesn't in
- 16:38Speaker 1: the show.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I forgot, Sorry I did. I brain farted on what
- 16:43Speaker 2: your what? What your reaction was?
- 16:44Speaker 1: When she finally a reaction that they give is not
- 16:47Speaker 1: a reaction they give JD's fantasy of what's going to happen?
- 16:51Speaker 2: Right? Do you ever see what really happens? Oh my god,
- 16:53Speaker 2: how funny.
- 16:53Speaker 1: By the way, how first of all, you'd be this
- 16:55Speaker 1: age right now?
- 16:56Speaker 2: I said this, I just blew you outside. I said
- 17:00Speaker 2: the same thing, dude. First of all, the funniest part
- 17:03Speaker 2: of the show, in my mind is me as an
- 17:05Speaker 2: old man, still living with you and farting. And then
- 17:08Speaker 2: I went I did the math, and I'm like, that's
- 17:11Speaker 2: that's me at forty.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Five, right right, right, right right?
- 17:14Speaker 2: That's how how trippy is that to see yourself? I mean,
- 17:18Speaker 2: this is an experience most people on earth will never have,
- 17:21Speaker 2: seeing how you as a twenty five year old portrayed
- 17:25Speaker 2: yourself at forty five, and then going back in forty
- 17:29Speaker 2: five and watching it. I was old and bald and fat.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And farting and farting and still.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Living with my friends and very very Jewish and extra jewy,
- 17:41Speaker 2: extra jewey, sorry because I've got nowhere else to go.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I was like, I was like a fucking Seinfeld character.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Oh my god, I was very funny. Though I wish
- 17:53Speaker 2: if you saw more of that character. I want to
- 17:55Speaker 2: see more of them.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That would have been great.
- 17:59Speaker 2: There are certain things I've wish he had more of.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I wish there was I wish Turk's mole puppet was
- 18:03Speaker 2: a running gag, and I certainly wish forty five, but
- 18:07Speaker 2: really seventy five year old extra Jewey Zach was a character.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I mean extra Jewey JD.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Extra Jewey JD. Well, they overlap, all right, Jady's nipples
- 18:18Speaker 2: name is Jasper. I laughed at that. JD loves the
- 18:20Speaker 2: show his nipples.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Right, you're right. Nipples name is Jasper. Yes, and you
- 18:24Speaker 1: have one hair named Clancy. So there's Jasper and Clancy.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Well, the hair is named Clancy, and the we don't
- 18:30Speaker 2: get the left nipples name is no. I think it's
- 18:33Speaker 2: the left. I think it's my left. That's Jasper.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's your left, that's Jasper.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I'm sure it's on scrubs Wiki.
- 18:39Speaker 1: You're right, now, you're right, you're right, you're right.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:41Speaker 2: But anyway, first of all, in the spirit of sexual
- 18:43Speaker 2: harassment at the workplace, I mean, JD and Turk are
- 18:46Speaker 2: just like really not being subtle at all ogling this
- 18:50Speaker 2: woman's tush.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yes they are, And I got to ask you a question.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Okay, it's funny even in two thousand and two or
- 19:01Speaker 2: three whenever we're making must have been three. Uh, we
- 19:04Speaker 2: seem to not be playing character. We seem to not
- 19:08Speaker 2: be playing characters that were toning it down or I
- 19:10Speaker 2: don't know, it just seemed out of Placezar.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I gotta ask you, though, are you a ass man
- 19:16Speaker 1: or a breastman?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Ass man times ten?
- 19:18Speaker 1: Okay, So when we first met, though, dude, you were
- 19:20Speaker 1: a breastman. You were all about tiny waste and big breast. Dude,
- 19:24Speaker 1: when we never met, that.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Was your game of another friend.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That was you.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Dude.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You were like, it has to be I was like,
- 19:29Speaker 1: what about the big ass? You were like, it has
- 19:30Speaker 1: to be so tiny, it has to be.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Disagree.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Maybe I remember this, Oh my god, we're gonna fight.
- 19:37Speaker 2: You're sorry.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I don't mean yeah, we're gonna fight.
- 19:38Speaker 2: We're gonna be your appreciation. I'm not saying that your
- 19:42Speaker 2: appreciation for giant tushes.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I don't like me a little bit. I don't like fake.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I like giant. I don't like fake.
- 19:49Speaker 2: We both we both have something in common that we
- 19:51Speaker 2: like the real real.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I like the real real.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Yeah. I definitely didn't know that ass implants were a
- 19:56Speaker 2: thing until recently, I thought that was a joke.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It looks weird, and you got this big, big, big,
- 20:01Speaker 1: big like hump on your bet but and then like
- 20:05Speaker 1: these real tiny legs, like if it don't match the
- 20:08Speaker 1: if the if the hamstring don't match the booty, what
- 20:11Speaker 1: you're really doing, what you're really doing.
- 20:14Speaker 2: To each the right Really, if you're listening right now
- 20:18Speaker 2: and you're on the fence about where they get the
- 20:21Speaker 2: ass implants, Donald and I are begging you not.
- 20:23Speaker 1: To unless you got no ass. If you've got no
- 20:26Speaker 1: ass and you.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Can, then do squats. Don't fucking put silicone in your toush.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Sometimes squats, Sometimes squat, okay, Daniel, Sometimes squats don't help though.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Well I'm just I mean to each their own again,
- 20:38Speaker 2: if you're sitting there on a cushy ass implant, then
- 20:41Speaker 2: manzle tough. I'm just saying I personally, I would rather
- 20:45Speaker 2: you did squats.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Joelle just over there sipping on hot tea.
- 20:51Speaker 2: By the way, someone runs something so funny on Twitter.
- 20:53Speaker 2: They said, rip to Joel's UH search history. After last
- 20:58Speaker 2: week's episode where we made search for the amount of
- 21:03Speaker 2: sperm that are.
- 21:03Speaker 3: In each practically no penis pill ads yet.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Just you wait, but you were doing a service for
- 21:11Speaker 2: the America, well, for the for the for the Earth,
- 21:13Speaker 2: for the.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Earth, for Earth, Planet Earth.
- 21:17Speaker 2: You're welcome. You're welcome, You're well welcome. Isn't it funny
- 21:20Speaker 2: when you when you not funny, but when you, like
- 21:23Speaker 2: you google something and then you're on some other website
- 21:26Speaker 2: and ads for that thing come up, and you're like,
- 21:28Speaker 2: what the fuck? I just looked for two seconds. I
- 21:31Speaker 2: don't care. And it doesn't even be like pornographic. It's like,
- 21:34Speaker 2: I'm not that interested in in in iron shelving. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: looked once.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I looked at a knife online, like a
- 21:42Speaker 1: cooking knife, because you guys know, I'm so in the
- 21:44Speaker 1: cooking a chopping knife, and I looked into it because
- 21:47Speaker 1: it's like one of those big ones that you see
- 21:48Speaker 1: on the Food Network and stuff.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Thick.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it won't stop showing up. It just keeps showing
- 21:55Speaker 1: up on my phone in every ad that in every
- 21:58Speaker 1: ad on any site that I go to YouTube, freaking Facebook, Twitter, well,
- 22:04Speaker 1: Twitter and have ads, but Instagram, it shows up.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they got you. Zuckerberg's got you all right now.
- 22:12Speaker 2: The janitor's whole storyline, yes, is a big storyline is
- 22:16Speaker 2: he has a twin brother named Roscoe, and he's committed
- 22:20Speaker 2: to tricking Jad and Turk that he I mean, does
- 22:23Speaker 2: this guy have any work to do? He the entire
- 22:28Speaker 2: time trying to convince us that he has a twin brother, and.
- 22:32Speaker 1: And he goes through like outrageous feats to his theory.
- 22:39Speaker 1: He enlists Troy, right, he lists Troy. He jumps out
- 22:43Speaker 1: of a window, a one story window. He jumps from
- 22:46Speaker 1: the second story to the top of the first story.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Roof and then onto an ambulance and then onto an.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Ambulance and then falls off the ambulance.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Because the ambulance gets a call so they speed off.
- 22:57Speaker 2: He falls onto the ground. I mean, this guy really, really,
- 23:01Speaker 2: really really was committed to trigger.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He made a video yes with Troy for the birthday
- 23:09Speaker 1: for the two of them for their twin birthday party.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Twin birthday party. This episode was so silly, I mean.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And he goes, take your time to look at this
- 23:20Speaker 1: and runs around.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the other comes in and it's got
- 23:23Speaker 2: nail polish on the other hand.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But then when he walks in, he goes walking slowly.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, what was the woman's name on his in
- 23:32Speaker 2: his h and his brain trust. Do you remember her?
- 23:37Speaker 2: It must have been crazy eyed Margo. It must have
- 23:39Speaker 2: been her hand, crazy eyed Margo memory. Someone wrote on Twitter.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I saw someone wrote on Instagram or Twitter about you.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It was funny. They said, there's definitely a Goldilocked sweet
- 23:50Speaker 2: spot for how high Donald should be. Sometimes it's too little,
- 23:54Speaker 2: sometimes it's too much.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Right, Sometimes I get too far gone. Yeah, I'm like,
- 23:59Speaker 1: holy ship, I was high in that episode.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 1: And then there's sometimes where I was like, I probably
- 24:03Speaker 1: should have smoked weed in that episode.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I just love that someone compared you to Goldilocks,
- 24:07Speaker 2: Like that's that's that's that porridge, that that weed is
- 24:10Speaker 2: not enough, that weed is too much, that weed, that's
- 24:12Speaker 2: just right, that's right. Why don't go to break, right, Joel,
- 24:18Speaker 2: We're gonna go break and we come right back. We're
- 24:20Speaker 2: gonna talk about firm like Mutton the second time then
- 24:23Speaker 2: an ass it has been compared to Mutton in Scrubs.
- 24:26Speaker 2: We'll be right back.
- 24:33Speaker 1: And we're bad. Okay, all right. I have a question
- 24:41Speaker 1: why why? First of all, why that why? Why? I
- 24:44Speaker 1: don't know.
- 24:44Speaker 2: It came to my mind when you did that noise.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Okay, second of the second second second of all, I
- 24:54Speaker 1: thought Elliott had gotten past this look. I thought we
- 24:57Speaker 1: were moving past this look at this point, aren't we?
- 25:00Speaker 2: No, she does this rocker hair for like, I think
- 25:02Speaker 2: the whole season really okay? Yeah, I think season three
- 25:06Speaker 2: was Elliott rocker hair.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Okay, the whole season.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sad about it too.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And the whole season and then and season three ends
- 25:13Speaker 1: with us getting with uh, Carla and Turk getting married, right.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I don't know, Oh, Joelle says, yes, I can. Look,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I have it in front of me here, what Joe,
- 25:23Speaker 2: you're looking? Yes, I'm looking right here? Do you want
- 25:26Speaker 2: to know what's coming up? We have? Oh, we have
- 25:30Speaker 2: his story. This must be when you narrate.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Oh shucks, is either mea John c McGinley.
- 25:38Speaker 2: No, it says you. Turk has hesitations about whether or
- 25:40Speaker 2: not to mail his wedding invitations.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Oh shit, yep.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And then we have Scott Foley coming back. I mean
- 25:48Speaker 2: we haven't booked on the episode.
- 25:49Speaker 1: But Connecticut's favorite Scott Foley. Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And then we have Richard Kines episode and yeah, it ends.
- 25:57Speaker 2: It ends with Carla and Turk getting married with George.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Everbody's gonna ask you that that just that line alone
- 26:08Speaker 1: in that song. I don't even know the song, but
- 26:09Speaker 1: just that line alone. Classic.
- 26:12Speaker 2: So the sixth member of the cast of Spin City
- 26:15Speaker 2: joins this, Alexander Chaplin. Now we call him Sandy. I'm
- 26:18Speaker 2: know Sandy forever. We went to theater camp together, which
- 26:22Speaker 2: sounds like a joke from Scrubbs, but is true. We
- 26:24Speaker 2: went to a theater camp called stage Door mannor together.
- 26:27Speaker 1: And he is related to say it, tell it. There's
- 26:30Speaker 1: a reason why his name was Chapman.
- 26:32Speaker 2: No Chaplain, He's not related to Chaplain. His father in
- 26:38Speaker 2: law is Hal Prince, the most celebrated I was under.
- 26:40Speaker 1: The impression that Sandy was was related to Charlie Chaplin.
- 26:46Speaker 2: No, you can, let's look up. I would know that.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I would just look this up. But his father told
- 26:52Speaker 1: me this, David Allen Base told me this. So I'm
- 26:54Speaker 1: gonna put David David Allen Base on.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I don't think so. I feel like I would know
- 27:01Speaker 2: that tidbit about him because I know him, and he's
- 27:04Speaker 2: a very very sweet man and a wonderful actor. And
- 27:07Speaker 2: do you know what film he was in that was
- 27:08Speaker 2: really where his where his acting was really incredible. I
- 27:13Speaker 2: wish I was here m hmm. Do you remember that Donald,
- 27:18Speaker 2: isn't it He plays the young Rabbi? Do you remember
- 27:25Speaker 2: that Donald?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah, that's right. The car, Yeah, and the plant
- 27:33Speaker 1: and something about the plant. Right.
- 27:35Speaker 2: He is a great actor. I think, very very I
- 27:38Speaker 2: think it's very underused. I mean, the guy should have
- 27:41Speaker 2: his own show. At this moment where he explodes on
- 27:43Speaker 2: Elliott over trying to get pain medication out of her,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I mean, it was just like it was just like
- 27:49Speaker 2: a quick, little three sentence monologue and he fucking killed it.
- 27:52Speaker 2: He's so talented.
- 27:54Speaker 1: He's very talented and very funny.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Also, he's very funny. He can also has a beautiful voice.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I love this man. I wish, I wish that I
- 28:02Speaker 2: saw him more. We gotta, we gotta, we gotta. If
- 28:05Speaker 2: you're out there and you're a casting director, you gotta
- 28:07Speaker 2: book Alexander Chaplin because he is a talented fellow.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Yeah he is. Just give me a second. I'm still looking.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I think Joelle is doing the work for you.
- 28:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 3: They're not related, and it doesn't even look like that
- 28:20Speaker 3: maybe his original last name. It says that he adapted
- 28:22Speaker 3: it when he got married. According to their Wikipedia page.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Do talk about stage Door manor though, Zach.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, does it say that he's his father in law?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Is Hal Prince?
- 28:31Speaker 1: It does?
- 28:32Speaker 2: There you go, wow, he is.
- 28:36Speaker 1: He is very Look he's one of those people where
- 28:39Speaker 1: you're like, dude, he should be working way more.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I agree, Listen, this is why I tell people and
- 28:44Speaker 2: not that. And Sandy's had a great career. He's been
- 28:45Speaker 2: on Spin City, He's been on lots of shows. He's
- 28:47Speaker 2: a working actor. But I do have to say when
- 28:49Speaker 2: people go, when people talk about becoming actors, I go,
- 28:52Speaker 2: there are people like Sandy Slash Alexander Chaplin that are
- 28:57Speaker 2: so good and handsome, and you're like, why is this
- 29:00Speaker 2: guy not a household name? I mean, that's that's it's humbling,
- 29:05Speaker 2: because you go, That's why I always talk about it
- 29:08Speaker 2: all being a lottery, like the fact that that guy
- 29:11Speaker 2: never had his own show or has yet to have
- 29:14Speaker 2: his own show. I just can't believe it, because he
- 29:16Speaker 2: can do everything, and he's and he's charming, and anyway
- 29:21Speaker 2: I cast him, I'll continue to cast him.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It's crazy how that is, though, because you meet a
- 29:25Speaker 1: lot of those people in Hollywood as you go through
- 29:28Speaker 1: the as you go, you know, as you climb the ranks,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and as you fall down the ranks, you know what
- 29:33Speaker 1: I mean, as you as you fall you meet a
- 29:36Speaker 1: lot of the same type of people who are running
- 29:40Speaker 1: the same type of race that you are. Man, this
- 29:42Speaker 1: thing really is like it. I remember when I lived
- 29:45Speaker 1: in New York, we used to look at this thing,
- 29:47Speaker 1: look at the acting game as the trenches, because like
- 29:50Speaker 1: your best friend all of a sudden is your enemy
- 29:52Speaker 1: the minute you walk into an audition space, because you're
- 29:55Speaker 1: all competing for a job. And I you know, you're
- 29:58Speaker 1: absolutely right. He's one of those people that you watch
- 30:01Speaker 1: and you're like wow, even as an actor, when you
- 30:04Speaker 1: look at them, you're like, this person, there's something something's
- 30:07Speaker 1: wrong that this person's not doing it right.
- 30:09Speaker 2: And it's like why, like why, I mean other than
- 30:12Speaker 2: just the lottery of of of the way the chips fall,
- 30:15Speaker 2: I don't know see why. I mean, Donald and I
- 30:16Speaker 2: both well, you know, can can name privately actors that
- 30:21Speaker 2: are hugely successful and totally cut together in the edit room,
- 30:24Speaker 2: and they owe their career to an editor and a director.
- 30:27Speaker 2: And then there's people like Sandy Chaplin who, like I
- 30:32Speaker 2: directed him in which I was here, there's not a
- 30:33Speaker 2: single take he did I couldn't, I couldn't use in
- 30:36Speaker 2: the film, he's.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Right that him yelling at Elliott is also just on him.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It never cuts to her reaction until after he's done.
- 30:44Speaker 1: So you see the you see him smiling, and then
- 30:46Speaker 1: the ramp and the and the it's really it's.
- 30:49Speaker 2: And then he quickly turns a joke and then right
- 30:51Speaker 2: and then right comes back. I think he recurs a
- 30:56Speaker 2: few times.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Bill loves the same character. Yeah, Bill loves him too.
- 31:00Speaker 2: All right, there's our there's our monologue about how much
- 31:01Speaker 2: we love Alexander Chaplin and and again, sorry shameless plug,
- 31:06Speaker 2: if you still haven't seen Wish I was here, please
- 31:08Speaker 2: check it out. And he's really good in that. He's
- 31:11Speaker 2: I play a guy who's so not into his religion
- 31:13Speaker 2: and he's secular and was raised Orthodox and and he
- 31:17Speaker 2: befriends this younger rabbi who sort of, you know, shows
- 31:21Speaker 2: him that there's a way to be religious without being
- 31:23Speaker 2: the religious ways his parents were and uh and and
- 31:27Speaker 2: so he finds his own unique way to connect to spirituality.
- 31:30Speaker 2: He's sort of the rabbi I always wished i'd met.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I wish i'd met a rabbi who who who?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Who?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Taught me a way to be spiritual without the strict
- 31:39Speaker 2: dogma that I was sort of had forced upon me.
- 31:41Speaker 1: As a child. I have a question for you. Go ahead,
- 31:48Speaker 1: and this is hypothetical, and so I don't want to
- 31:50Speaker 1: just change. I don't want to. I don't want to
- 31:52Speaker 1: be uh because I think everybody did a great job
- 31:56Speaker 1: and wish I was here and everything like that. But
- 31:57Speaker 1: if Natalie Portman would have played your wife in that movie,
- 32:00Speaker 1: do you have to made it the sequel to to Uh?
- 32:05Speaker 2: No? No, No, I don't think so. I I I
- 32:11Speaker 2: see how they are. There's there's sort of cousins of
- 32:13Speaker 2: each other. But I think I didn't want to go
- 32:17Speaker 2: anywhere near Garden State. I mean, obviously I'm I I
- 32:20Speaker 2: it's coming out of my brain and in this case,
- 32:23Speaker 2: and wish I was Here's case my brother Adam as well.
- 32:26Speaker 2: But so they're all gonna, you know, have a piece
- 32:29Speaker 2: of me. And in fact, the new script's funny. Someone
- 32:31Speaker 2: someone I know and love and trust read it and
- 32:34Speaker 2: I said, this is the first thing I've written that
- 32:35Speaker 2: really isn't about me. And they read it and laughed.
- 32:37Speaker 2: They said, you think this isn't about you? I meaning
- 32:39Speaker 2: it's not about a struggling artist, a guy from Jersey,
- 32:43Speaker 2: but it is so much of who I am in it.
- 32:46Speaker 2: I think that that's just, you know, that's what comes
- 32:48Speaker 2: out of me when I when I write, So I
- 32:49Speaker 2: think I see how they're cousins of each other, but
- 32:52Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't see Kate's character having anything to
- 32:55Speaker 2: do with Natalie's character.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Would you ever consider revisiting that.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I'd love to work with Natalie again. I don't want
- 33:02Speaker 2: to do like I've had so many opportunities to do
- 33:05Speaker 2: incarnations of Garden State. I just kind of want to
- 33:07Speaker 2: lead at it.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Would you ever want to put this cast back to
- 33:10Speaker 1: like this is what I don't understand, This is what
- 33:12Speaker 1: I don't understand it certain and some directors do it,
- 33:15Speaker 1: and then other directors don't do it, and I don't
- 33:16Speaker 1: understand that. And sometimes it really upsets me because you
- 33:20Speaker 1: meet certain directors and you're like, I want to work
- 33:22Speaker 1: with this person forever, and then you never work with
- 33:24Speaker 1: that person again. Yes, but like Scorsese's one of those
- 33:27Speaker 1: people where if he loves you, you're in everything. He's
- 33:30Speaker 1: gonna do same thing with Oliver Stone, you know what
- 33:32Speaker 1: I mean. I don't understand why people don't take something
- 33:35Speaker 1: that was successful like Garden State and bring the entire
- 33:39Speaker 1: cast back together, same writer, same director, same everything, and
- 33:45Speaker 1: create something different. If it all worked the first time,
- 33:49Speaker 1: why would it be different the second time.
- 33:52Speaker 2: That's a great point, But you'd have to write something
- 33:54Speaker 2: that would be perfect for all those people again, you know,
- 33:58Speaker 2: but you.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Already kind of know what it is because you did
- 34:01Speaker 1: it the first time. No, all right, if I just
- 34:03Speaker 1: stick to the blueprint, the blueprint says this is gonna work.
- 34:07Speaker 1: This is something that rappers do all the time, all right.
- 34:09Speaker 1: The blueprint says this is gonna work. This is something
- 34:11Speaker 1: that artists do all the time. The blueprint says this
- 34:14Speaker 1: is gonna work. And it does pretty much every time,
- 34:19Speaker 1: pretty much every time.
- 34:20Speaker 2: If in the rap world, but not not in the film,
- 34:25Speaker 2: there's plenty to recreate the magic. Look at the whole
- 34:28Speaker 2: world of sequels. I mean, how many sequels are good?
- 34:32Speaker 1: That's you're you're absolutely right when it comes to sequels.
- 34:36Speaker 2: But the squel exactly this equal is exactly what you're saying.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Well, no, not really, because when it's the sequel, you
- 34:43Speaker 1: want something different. That's the That's the only thing that's
- 34:45Speaker 1: the that's the that's the difference between the sequel and
- 34:48Speaker 1: what the formula is. The formula works every time. The
- 34:52Speaker 1: sequel can't be the formula again. That's the rule. Man,
- 34:55Speaker 1: it can't be all right, I made Star Wars, so
- 34:58Speaker 1: the next one has to be Star Wars again. They
- 35:00Speaker 1: made Star Wars, and the next one was Empire Strikes Back.
- 35:03Speaker 1: And that's why this.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Is the challenge, though, and and and I heard here's
- 35:06Speaker 2: how I'll address it in the way that what I
- 35:08Speaker 2: experienced is it took me a long time to make
- 35:11Speaker 2: another film after Garden State, and and when I and
- 35:13Speaker 2: and I didn't. You know, it's the classic sophomore effort.
- 35:17Speaker 2: And I think artists of all types feel this is.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Of course, I want the audience to come back for
- 35:23Speaker 2: what they loved, but I don't want to repeat myself.
- 35:27Speaker 2: You know, it's the class any any musician with their
- 35:29Speaker 2: sophomore album would say the same thing. I want I
- 35:31Speaker 2: want everyone to come back into the tent, but I
- 35:34Speaker 2: don't want everyone to think I'm just biting myself. So
- 35:37Speaker 2: you're trying to say, here's something in the spirit of
- 35:39Speaker 2: what you liked. But I'm also gonna tiptoe us over here.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Now that'll either work or it won't. Sometimes they won't
- 35:46Speaker 2: like the tiptoe and they'll be like, where the fuck? Like,
- 35:48Speaker 2: for example, wish I was here doesn't really have a
- 35:50Speaker 2: love story. You know, there's it's a couple that's that's
- 35:53Speaker 2: that that loves each other and they're going through a
- 35:55Speaker 2: tough time and there's a chance there's a chance they
- 35:57Speaker 2: might break up, but at the center of it isn't
- 35:59Speaker 2: a love story, right, So people that's so related to
- 36:03Speaker 2: a love story were like, Oh, it's a Zach Brafft
- 36:05Speaker 2: movie and it's got it's got it's got a vibe,
- 36:07Speaker 2: it's got music, and it's kind of it's goint of
- 36:08Speaker 2: great actors I love. And then when they saw that
- 36:11Speaker 2: there was no will they or won't they love story,
- 36:14Speaker 2: I think I suspect we're disappointed by that. So it's
- 36:18Speaker 2: always a challenge to go, I wanna I want to
- 36:20Speaker 2: I pray you all come back into the tent, but
- 36:23Speaker 2: I also want to kind of do something different together.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Right, no doubt, no, no, I totally understand what you're saying.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I totally get what you're saying. But that makes me wonder.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Then Scorsese has figured out his formula. It seems like, yeah,
- 36:38Speaker 1: he makes really good gritty movies, you know what I mean.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Uh, But Scorsese always delivers. He's going you're gonna see guns,
- 36:45Speaker 2: You're going you're going to see criminal activity, you're gonna
- 36:48Speaker 2: see you're going to see amazing cinematography. You're always going
- 36:52Speaker 2: to see the top actors in the world. He he does.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Rodriguez is another one that's done that. It's my point,
- 36:59Speaker 1: they're very There are like a handful of directors that
- 37:02Speaker 1: have done that. Tarantino. You know what you're going to
- 37:05Speaker 1: see when you see a Tarantino movie.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And Tarantino's done it in a genius way that
- 37:09Speaker 2: even more than anyone that they I think they are
- 37:13Speaker 2: so specifically Tarantino films, but they're all over the place,
- 37:16Speaker 2: in there, in there, in there in what they're about.
- 37:19Speaker 1: So then what's wrong with you doing that? What's wrong
- 37:21Speaker 1: with you doing is.
- 37:24Speaker 2: As good a writer or as prolific a writer.
- 37:26Speaker 1: But Zach Garden State is fucking fire, dude. Regardless of
- 37:30Speaker 1: what you want to say, and regardless of what you
- 37:32Speaker 1: want to say about which I was here, that's fire dude.
- 37:34Speaker 1: It's a great story. You know what I mean, and
- 37:38Speaker 1: it touches something that you don't see in a lot
- 37:40Speaker 1: of movies. You don't see a lot of people think
- 37:41Speaker 1: I jump into that.
- 37:43Speaker 2: Thank you, and I think. I think what I do
- 37:45Speaker 2: that is what I write, probably has a smaller audience,
- 37:50Speaker 2: but it can grow. But that's fine. Grow, but that's fine.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I don't need to be you two the band that
- 37:57Speaker 2: came to my mind first. I can be a small
- 38:00Speaker 2: act at a smaller venue, but there definitely there clearly
- 38:03Speaker 2: is an audience for it. But you know, I'm not
- 38:06Speaker 2: I'm content not being as as hugely successful as Tarantino.
- 38:11Speaker 1: My point is not just for you, this is for everybody.
- 38:14Speaker 1: It's all right to do what you do. There's nothing
- 38:16Speaker 1: wrong with doing what you do. Nobody does you better
- 38:19Speaker 1: than you.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, no matter what you're, no matter what
- 38:22Speaker 2: your no matter what your art is, I believe that
- 38:24Speaker 2: and also what comes out of you at the time
- 38:27Speaker 2: is the art that you have to contribute to the world.
- 38:31Speaker 2: I always go back to Justin from Bonever saying to
- 38:34Speaker 2: me it was about I think I sold the story
- 38:37Speaker 2: on the show that he said. I tried to give
- 38:39Speaker 2: him a note on the song for wish I was here,
- 38:41Speaker 2: and he said, that's what came out of me when
- 38:44Speaker 2: I saw the film. And so I don't apologize at
- 38:48Speaker 2: all for the stuff I make, whether sometimes it works
- 38:51Speaker 2: sometimes it doesn't, because it's what came out of me
- 38:53Speaker 2: at the time. It's what I had to say, and
- 38:55Speaker 2: hopefully some people liked it.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Right speaking, that's very difficult to be on that page
- 39:02Speaker 1: because then that goes against everything that I was just
- 39:04Speaker 1: talking about, where the formula always works if you're on
- 39:07Speaker 1: that this is what I expressed at that moment one.
- 39:12Speaker 1: That's the only thing.
- 39:13Speaker 2: That's the only thing I can do. I think I
- 39:15Speaker 2: don't know how to I don't know. I mean, I
- 39:17Speaker 2: have yet to know how to to write something that's
- 39:20Speaker 2: not like a in order for me to get in
- 39:22Speaker 2: a chair and spend that much time and commitment, and
- 39:26Speaker 2: I need to tap into like what I feel as
- 39:28Speaker 2: a human being. I yet to be able to be like,
- 39:33Speaker 2: oh my god, I have a great submarine movie idea.
- 39:35Speaker 2: And it's not to say it's not to say it's
- 39:38Speaker 2: not to say that I don't have an occasional good
- 39:40Speaker 2: submarine movie idea, but I wouldn't have the commitment to
- 39:42Speaker 2: sit down and put the time in to do it
- 39:46Speaker 2: in order for me to fucking do the thing that
- 39:49Speaker 2: we writers do, which is stare at the blinking cursor alone,
- 39:52Speaker 2: wishing you were doing anything else. I need to I
- 39:55Speaker 2: need to feel like it's coming out of my fucking body.
- 40:00Speaker 1: That's your formula.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Yeah, My formula is to is to tap into my
- 40:05Speaker 2: own psyche and my own the things that make me
- 40:10Speaker 2: joyous and the things that made me depressed and and
- 40:13Speaker 2: and craft.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Well, it shows. It shows in your movies, man, because
- 40:17Speaker 1: after walking out of Wish I was here, I think
- 40:19Speaker 1: everybody was like, fuck, I'm depressed.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Come on, it's not that bad. There's hope at the end.
- 40:26Speaker 1: That's very little. That ship. That family is so fucked man,
- 40:30Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 40:31Speaker 2: At the end they're happy.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Yeah, well they're happy because they freaking the bully died.
- 40:37Speaker 2: You know, well no, and he he fought. No spoilers,
- 40:41Speaker 2: but he definitely begins a new chapter of his life
- 40:43Speaker 2: and he seems like he's content.
- 40:45Speaker 1: In the end, in the very end, in the very
- 40:48Speaker 1: very end. I love the movie, dude. I'm just telling you, man,
- 40:50Speaker 1: that that family is that's a very and and what's
- 40:53Speaker 1: crazy about it is that's the truth though, that was
- 40:56Speaker 1: a truth and it's not a wrap this up with
- 40:59Speaker 1: a big both.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I don't want to make that ship. There's plenty of
- 41:02Speaker 2: people making that shit. I want to make the real real.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I want to make you know you and your wife
- 41:07Speaker 2: can have an all out fucking battle and yeah you
- 41:10Speaker 2: love each other, and yeah you will do anything for
- 41:13Speaker 2: each other. But in the back of your mind, you're like,
- 41:15Speaker 2: is this gonna fucking last forever? Like, I don't know,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I want to make that movie. I don't want to
- 41:21Speaker 2: make the I lift her up and we hug on
- 41:22Speaker 2: the beach. Bullshit. There's plenty of people doing that.
- 41:25Speaker 1: That feels good though, too, keep me one hundred.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's plenty of people doing that. There's plenty.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I'd rather I'd rather tell it on a story about
- 41:33Speaker 2: a couple that hopes they're gonna make it.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the truth, because that that is the truth, man,
- 41:39Speaker 1: that's what That's what really. You know, when you walk
- 41:42Speaker 1: out of I wish I was here and I'm fucking
- 41:44Speaker 1: totally you know, I'd totally sound like your best friend
- 41:47Speaker 1: who's so totally proud of you. But it's like when
- 41:49Speaker 1: you walk out of that movie, regardless of who you are,
- 41:52Speaker 1: where you are or what you're doing, if if you know,
- 41:55Speaker 1: if you don't feel like shit, damn man, I'm happy.
- 41:59Speaker 1: I'm that right now, not them right now.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I just want to aspire to I aspire to make
- 42:07Speaker 2: you watch something that makes you talk about it, like
- 42:09Speaker 2: you know, when you can see a movie and then
- 42:10Speaker 2: by the time you get to your car, you're like,
- 42:12Speaker 2: should we get deserved? Like I mean, in normal times,
- 42:14Speaker 2: should we? And just it's gone, It's gone, like you
- 42:17Speaker 2: had cotton candy, right.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I'd rather be like yo, you remember the part.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, and be like iven by the way,
- 42:25Speaker 2: even if you're like I fucking hated the way he
- 42:27Speaker 2: wrote that one character, like even I just want your passion.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I love that.
- 42:31Speaker 2: By the way, I'm fine to be polarizing. I want
- 42:33Speaker 2: your passion right right. That's what's up about shrubs. Why
- 42:39Speaker 2: don't we, Joel, why don't we invite the guests after
- 42:42Speaker 2: a break. We'll be right back after these fine words.
- 42:51Speaker 1: And we're bad.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Gargle gargle.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Okay, here's where are we going? When we see the
- 43:00Speaker 1: janitor after he falls off the ambulance. I thought we
- 43:03Speaker 1: were going to play basketball. The basketball hoops behind us.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I'm with you, dude. I think that the director was
- 43:08Speaker 2: assuming that the audience doesn't know the geography of our
- 43:11Speaker 2: parking lot.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Well, this was written written by rich Estes is that
- 43:15Speaker 1: I say his name?
- 43:17Speaker 2: I don't know who's written by Let me look, this
- 43:21Speaker 2: was written by uh oh, I don't know who Rich
- 43:24Speaker 2: Eustace is. He wasn't a regular staff writer. I'm not
- 43:28Speaker 2: sure what the story with Rich.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Eustace's And then who directed it?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Maybe Gail man Cusso directed it.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Oh, Gil, you love Gail. We do love Gail.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Love Gail. Gail has won many and Emmy I think
- 43:40Speaker 2: for directing modern family.
- 43:41Speaker 1: She does that is creat she does it, she does it.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Right, She's great. I want texted Gail to have her
- 43:53Speaker 2: direct Alex inc. And she didn't reply to me. Now,
- 43:57Speaker 2: I don't know if I had the wrong self this
- 44:00Speaker 2: many years later, but I to this day am harboring.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I'm sure you have a listener in your life, someone
- 44:08Speaker 2: that never replied, And you're like, do I have a
- 44:11Speaker 2: wrong number or did they ghost me?
- 44:14Speaker 1: And I feel that way.
- 44:15Speaker 2: And I'm like and I'm like, no, Gail loved me.
- 44:18Speaker 2: It's not like we have beef or anything. Why would
- 44:20Speaker 2: she ignore me.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Oh, I have a bunch of people that I'm like
- 44:22Speaker 1: that with. Man, it's ridiculous where it's like I text
- 44:25Speaker 1: them and then they never text me back.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:28Speaker 1: It's weird though, man. But but do.
- 44:30Speaker 2: You have people in your phone, Like, let's say someone
- 44:33Speaker 2: hits you up right, Yeah, and they're not your it's
- 44:35Speaker 2: not me, it's not someone in your closed circle. It's
- 44:37Speaker 2: it's like a outer ring friend and you're not dissing them. Yeah,
- 44:40Speaker 2: you'll get back to them. They're cool, but you're not
- 44:42Speaker 2: gonna do it right now because you're in the middle
- 44:43Speaker 2: of something and then you forget. Yeah, all the time,
- 44:45Speaker 2: of course, so sometimes because of my neurosis, I'll go
- 44:49Speaker 2: back and go, oh fuck, I never replied to so
- 44:51Speaker 2: and so.
- 44:52Speaker 1: It just happens too often with me.
- 44:53Speaker 2: You know, you're a stoner too, so it must happen
- 44:56Speaker 2: more because of the amount of ganja. All right, Now,
- 44:59Speaker 2: I laughed hard at my character getting attacked for hitting
- 45:03Speaker 2: on a woman in the elevator. Now, I think she
- 45:10Speaker 2: overreacted a bit.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Just a little bit, because that's the salt that was.
- 45:14Speaker 2: She assaulted me because all you said, I used a
- 45:18Speaker 2: bad pickup line, and she beats the ship out of me.
- 45:21Speaker 2: But it's hilarious and I'm sure there's a lot of
- 45:23Speaker 2: women out there who watched that, being like, yeah, that's
- 45:25Speaker 2: what you want to do. Sometimes when a guy's hitting
- 45:27Speaker 2: on you in an elevator, that's what.
- 45:28Speaker 1: You get, okay.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Uh.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Carla ripping the condom open with her teeth kind of
- 45:36Speaker 1: gave me movement. I don't know why.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Really, there was a bit of a like a there
- 45:39Speaker 2: was a shift he felt a jiggle was Yeah, that
- 45:42Speaker 2: was a little bit of a yeah, although you probably
- 45:45Speaker 2: don't have a light jiggle like I feel like when
- 45:46Speaker 2: you have movement, it's like like what you know, like
- 45:49Speaker 2: when they make the sound effect of a giant boat moving.
- 45:51Speaker 1: It's like.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Me, you know when they do like the underwater shot
- 45:59Speaker 2: of like the aircraft carrier turning and the like we
- 46:02Speaker 2: had to turn turn turn and they cut underwater and
- 46:05Speaker 2: then you hear the boat like like a big treaky turn. Yeah. Yeah,
- 46:12Speaker 2: that's what I feel like. It sounds like when you're
- 46:13Speaker 2: Penis shifts all right, Carla received Carla going on a date.
- 46:19Speaker 2: It was just I had trouble with that. Yeah, like
- 46:22Speaker 2: I did never do that. It felt so duplicitous and
- 46:26Speaker 2: and the fact that she made JD hold the secret.
- 46:29Speaker 1: That's where I had a problem. I didn't have a
- 46:31Speaker 1: problem with her going on to date because that can happen,
- 46:34Speaker 1: that could happen where, but the fact that JD was
- 46:36Speaker 1: there when it happened, and she said yes, and then
- 46:38Speaker 1: she was like, yo, if you tell on me, these
- 46:41Speaker 1: beads mean nothing. That was like, wait, hold on, yeah,
- 46:45Speaker 1: I don't know if y'all know how this works. But
- 46:47Speaker 1: his bros before hoes. B. That's real talk, B, real
- 46:50Speaker 1: real fucking talk.
- 46:51Speaker 2: What you say, Alca, Casey said to me, I'm gonna
- 46:54Speaker 2: go on a date before Donald and I.
- 46:57Speaker 1: You don't tell me, dog, that's a wrap. B. You see,
- 47:00Speaker 1: we really are friends. You might as well fuck Casey. Dude,
- 47:03Speaker 1: you might as well fuck Casey if she says, yo.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I'm going down to Ravine, it.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Is not bad. Dude. If Casey said to you, let's
- 47:12Speaker 1: let's put it this way. Hold on, hold on, let
- 47:15Speaker 1: me finish we hanging out, right, You, you and my
- 47:18Speaker 1: wife are friends. And I'm like, I don't give I'm
- 47:21Speaker 1: not threatened by this situation. You guys are best friend.
- 47:24Speaker 1: It doesn't mean I encourage this because of my relationship
- 47:28Speaker 1: with you, Zach. You two hang out, so you too
- 47:30Speaker 1: are hanging out. You go out one night and she
- 47:33Speaker 1: runs into I don't know, let's say, Brad Pitt. That's
- 47:36Speaker 1: somebody she talks about a lot, and Brad Pitt says
- 47:39Speaker 1: to her, oh my god, I was a huge fan
- 47:42Speaker 1: of the Newlyweds. You used to make me laugh all
- 47:47Speaker 1: the time. And Casey was like, oh my god, I'm
- 47:51Speaker 1: a fan of yourself. And they're just having them having
- 47:53Speaker 1: a cute little meet cute right, And then at the
- 47:57Speaker 1: end of it, Brad goes, I would love to pick
- 47:59Speaker 1: this up some other time.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Case Oh, Casey, or Casey, what a horrible position.
- 48:06Speaker 1: What's your number. I'll give you a call. Maybe we
- 48:09Speaker 1: can go watch some other time. But she's like, blah
- 48:12Speaker 1: blah blah, uh uh one five five five five five
- 48:16Speaker 1: five five five five five five and.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Gives him to just keep dialing five.
- 48:22Speaker 1: And you didn't tell me.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Of course I would tell you.
- 48:24Speaker 1: And no, I'm talking about about the show, and you
- 48:28Speaker 1: didn't tell me. You might as well fuck Casey, you.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Might as well. I don't agree that. I don't agree
- 48:34Speaker 2: that those two are equal. Me not telling you she
- 48:36Speaker 2: wanted to do with.
- 48:37Speaker 1: If she goes on to day with Brad pittchy gonna
- 48:39Speaker 1: leave me for Brad Pitt. Dude, She's gonna be like
- 48:40Speaker 1: bye Roco, Bye Wilder, Bye donald Is Brad all day?
- 48:45Speaker 2: Well, would be a mistake for her, wouldn't.
- 48:46Speaker 1: It, Because Brad Pitt, we might have to cut this.
- 48:49Speaker 2: No, bradficts perfect example, because every woman who's straight listening
- 48:54Speaker 2: is like, yeah, I get it, that would be a conundrum.
- 48:57Speaker 2: And every guy who's gay listening is like, yeah, I
- 49:00Speaker 2: get it, that wuld be a conundrum. And every guy
- 49:02Speaker 2: whose kinsy scale allows right now, I was thinking, like, yeah,
- 49:04Speaker 2: I get it, that might be a problem. You know
- 49:06Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Joelle, you'll preach yes.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, Brad Pitt.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Brad Pitt is like, yo, got you gotta look at
- 49:14Speaker 3: your briner and be like yo baby pass.
- 49:17Speaker 2: No. No, I don't believe let's make it work. I
- 49:22Speaker 2: don't believe in that. I think that's just the game
- 49:23Speaker 2: couples play. I don't think.
- 49:25Speaker 1: This show is all about this episode is all about that, though, Man,
- 49:29Speaker 1: a whole pass dude. If you if the fact that
- 49:32Speaker 1: j D didn't tell Turk is some bullshit right there.
- 49:36Speaker 2: I agree with you.
- 49:37Speaker 1: That doesn't make any sense.
- 49:38Speaker 2: What's so I didn't write Donald. The writers needed to
- 49:41Speaker 2: find some drama, so they created the drama.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But that's made up drama, man, Come on, man, that's
- 49:47Speaker 1: made up.
- 49:47Speaker 2: That's I agree? Is the is the guest here, Daniel.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Let's invite this person in and make their day. Let's
- 49:54Speaker 2: cheer them up or or tickle them with our words.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Oh, ladies and gentleman wearing it's fake doctor's real friends
- 50:05Speaker 1: onesie give it up for Jimmy.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Catlin, Jamie, welcome to the program. You're our very first
- 50:14Speaker 2: guest to be wearing the onesie live on the show.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I encourage all future guests if you if you have
- 50:21Speaker 2: a onesie to wear it as as a guest.
- 50:24Speaker 1: You can ask you a question. Yeah, before we get
- 50:27Speaker 1: me for isn't it cozy?
- 50:29Speaker 6: It's so cozy? Can I say real quick, I'm using
- 50:34Speaker 6: my brother in laws computer. My name's actually cam By.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Cam Okay, so confusing.
- 50:43Speaker 5: I'm sorry. I thought I could change you.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Cam You can you know if you go on your
- 50:47Speaker 2: who see up her right end corner of those those
- 50:49Speaker 2: three dots and you click on it and then it
- 50:51Speaker 2: says you. Oh, sorry, Daniel's gonna do it for you.
- 50:56Speaker 7: Gentleman, give it up for Actually, I mean, I really
- 51:03Speaker 7: just couldn't go through life knowing that I didn't get
- 51:05Speaker 7: Donald's oprah intro to someone else's name.
- 51:10Speaker 2: But when you play the show back, when you play
- 51:12Speaker 2: the show back for your brother, it's your brother in law,
- 51:16Speaker 2: your brother in law, he's gonna be happy that he
- 51:17Speaker 2: got a don't know.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Your last name, ain't even Keckley, is it. It's not.
- 51:21Speaker 2: It's all right, but listen, let's go. Let's kill and
- 51:27Speaker 2: me camp Donald.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Let's gentlemen, give it up for camp Sleby.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Donald. I want to say that the onesie looks really
- 51:37Speaker 2: good on cam.
- 51:39Speaker 5: It is very comfortable, very cozy.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Now cam, do you like the fact that it has pockets,
- 51:43Speaker 2: because sometimes you get a onesie and there's nowhere to
- 51:46Speaker 2: put your phone or your stuff. You can put anything
- 51:49Speaker 2: you want in there.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Yeah, not only the pockets, but I like where they're
- 51:52Speaker 6: placed too, you know, not even like to decide they're
- 51:54Speaker 6: like perfect like hoodie pockets.
- 51:56Speaker 1: You know, I have only one complain about our onesie. Okay,
- 52:03Speaker 1: no poop flap.
- 52:04Speaker 2: No poop flap. Yeah, next incarnation we need to add
- 52:07Speaker 2: of pooflow. It's gonna cost more money though.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you cost more money.
- 52:10Speaker 5: You do have to go all the way off if
- 52:11Speaker 5: you want to, you know.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I just think a poop flap's funny, even if
- 52:15Speaker 2: you don't use the poof flap. I just think I
- 52:17Speaker 2: laugh every time I see a poof flap. Cam, welcome
- 52:21Speaker 2: to the program. Where are you calling from.
- 52:23Speaker 5: I'm from Charleston, South Carolina?
- 52:26Speaker 2: Okay, Carol, And do you have a question for any
- 52:28Speaker 2: of us today to be on the show?
- 52:30Speaker 5: I do. I do have a question for all of you.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Actually, go ahead and Cam not.
- 52:34Speaker 6: Really scrub specific. And I just got to say so
- 52:37Speaker 6: I give credit where credit is due. I kind of
- 52:39Speaker 6: got this question from another podcast I listened to. It's
- 52:42Speaker 6: called The Watch through the Rigger Network. Shout out Cha Serato,
- 52:47Speaker 6: The Watch, but the watches two guys.
- 52:50Speaker 5: They had Jason.
- 52:50Speaker 6: Mazukas on and they were talking a lot about this
- 52:53Speaker 6: past year, and the question was, do you feel the
- 52:56Speaker 6: way you consume content or what content you want to
- 52:58Speaker 6: consume has changed over the past ten months? Your personal
- 53:02Speaker 6: taste or what you find funny has that changed over
- 53:04Speaker 6: the past year as well?
- 53:06Speaker 5: Obviously with the pandemic things like that.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think my taste and what I
- 53:13Speaker 1: find funny has changed. And I think a lot of
- 53:14Speaker 1: it has to do with how the culture has shifted.
- 53:17Speaker 1: You know, what is considered bullying and not necessarily was
- 53:24Speaker 1: considered punching down now used to be considered very funny,
- 53:29Speaker 1: and it's it's not anymore. And so yeah, i think
- 53:35Speaker 1: I'm way more conscious of when listening to jokes, and
- 53:40Speaker 1: this is and and this is something that I'm not
- 53:42Speaker 1: necessarily happy about or sad about. It's just that i'm
- 53:46Speaker 1: very I'm I'm very aware of this now that when
- 53:49Speaker 1: I listen to jokes, I'm also well when I'm consuming content,
- 53:55Speaker 1: I should say, I'm also checking to see if it
- 53:59Speaker 1: offends anyone, because if it does, then I'm not necessary
- 54:04Speaker 1: Like once I feel like something offends somebody, then I
- 54:07Speaker 1: have a problem with it in a lot of ways.
- 54:09Speaker 1: And I don't know, and I think I think it
- 54:12Speaker 1: has a lot to do with, you know, just the
- 54:14Speaker 1: climate that we're in right now. I don't want anyone
- 54:16Speaker 1: to necessarily be offended by me, like in ways that
- 54:24Speaker 1: I've been offended by people, you know what I mean.
- 54:28Speaker 1: So if I ever make somebody feel like I have felt,
- 54:34Speaker 1: then I got a problem with that. And I think
- 54:35Speaker 1: this year, more than anything, because of the climate, we
- 54:39Speaker 1: are experiencing that more. I think whether it's okay, Well,
- 54:44Speaker 1: now that I know that it hurts you, people are
- 54:46Speaker 1: using it more, or I know that it hurts you,
- 54:50Speaker 1: I'm going to refrain from saying it. And even if
- 54:52Speaker 1: it's not honest, at least it's at least it's an
- 54:55Speaker 1: effort to say, you know what I see that that
- 54:57Speaker 1: hurts you. My bad.
- 55:00Speaker 2: What about you, Joelle? Do you think your ways of
- 55:04Speaker 2: or the way you view content has changed all during
- 55:06Speaker 2: the pandemic?
- 55:07Speaker 1: Uh?
- 55:08Speaker 2: No?
- 55:09Speaker 3: I mean I had a film and television critic beforehand
- 55:13Speaker 3: that I watched things all the time streaming or on
- 55:16Speaker 3: my computer because that's how we get the screeners. I
- 55:20Speaker 3: think that there's a possibility I like certain shows a
- 55:22Speaker 3: lot more than I would have pre pandemic. I still
- 55:25Speaker 3: would have enjoyed like I would have enjoyed to the
- 55:27Speaker 3: Lasso whenever it came out, But my God, wasn't like
- 55:30Speaker 3: vital to just lifting the spear. It was like came
- 55:32Speaker 3: like the darkest point of the pandemic, where we were like,
- 55:34Speaker 3: I don't there's no cure insight, I don't know what's happening.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Then like like a beacon of light, here comes Ted
- 55:39Speaker 3: Last so just to like bowl you over with comedy,
- 55:41Speaker 3: and then did you.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Feel sorry to digress that episode two was the best episode?
- 55:45Speaker 3: Oh, clearly clearly the best, superior to all the episodes.
- 55:48Speaker 2: It was something about the way it was director go ahead.
- 55:51Speaker 3: And then there shows like The Queen's Gambit or even
- 55:55Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys have had an opportunity
- 55:57Speaker 3: see Maraini's Black Bottom.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Yet Yeah, I love that.
- 55:59Speaker 1: WHOA like again.
- 56:01Speaker 3: Like there's something tinly about these things, even Soul, which
- 56:03Speaker 3: I think maybe I would have been more harshly critical of,
- 56:06Speaker 3: like pre pandemic, in the pandemic fictions like this is
- 56:10Speaker 3: so now again I like Soul, I might have been
- 56:13Speaker 3: more critical in a world where you know, we probably
- 56:18Speaker 3: would have had a similar summer despite the pandemic. Right, So,
- 56:21Speaker 3: tensions are high, and there's a lot to consider about
- 56:23Speaker 3: black representation and art. But like, my god, anything that's
- 56:26Speaker 3: gonna make me feel some kind of joy or light
- 56:29Speaker 3: or or feels like just remotely better than the previous
- 56:33Speaker 3: representation we've had and like give it a hall pass,
- 56:36Speaker 3: like I can't. I can't canticue too harshly because I
- 56:38Speaker 3: just need this level of joy and content in this time.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Somebody you're talking about a little bit has changed.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I appreciate certain things a little bit more, but for
- 56:47Speaker 3: the most part, no, I'm watching and consuming when you hear.
- 56:50Speaker 1: People, But when you hear people say certain things like uh,
- 56:55Speaker 1: you know, hurtful things in media and in in in,
- 57:00Speaker 1: it doesn't affect you more like it affects me way
- 57:02Speaker 1: more now because I feel like everybody is well aware. Like, Okay,
- 57:07Speaker 1: I just saw something recently where a young lady is
- 57:09Speaker 1: going crazy over her phone accusing of a young accusing
- 57:13Speaker 1: a young black kid of stealing her phone.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Right, and it.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Really angered me because it was like, wait, hold on, now,
- 57:22Speaker 1: you know what's going on. There's a better way to
- 57:25Speaker 1: do this, dude. What you're doing right now isn't the
- 57:28Speaker 1: right way. There's a better way to handle all of this.
- 57:32Speaker 1: You know what's what climate, This is what's going on
- 57:35Speaker 1: right now, and you're not even paying. You don't give
- 57:37Speaker 1: a fuck, And that pisses me off, you know what
- 57:39Speaker 1: I mean?
- 57:40Speaker 3: When I see a shit like that that can't really media.
- 57:43Speaker 3: That's something somebody like captured, right, Like, that's not but.
- 57:46Speaker 1: It's turned into media though, you know what I mean,
- 57:48Speaker 1: it's now turned into something to invoke.
- 57:50Speaker 3: That is a much broader conversation, which I don't a
- 57:53Speaker 3: thousand percent disagree with you, but it's a much broader
- 57:56Speaker 3: conversation than I think we could tackle here. I think
- 58:00Speaker 3: I've always been sensitive to that stuff, Like, I mean,
- 58:02Speaker 3: if you're gonna come yelling at children who are just
- 58:04Speaker 3: being kids, like, I've always found that the r right,
- 58:08Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 58:09Speaker 2: What about you, Daniel?
- 58:11Speaker 4: I think you know inherently. One thing that has affected
- 58:14Speaker 4: my media watching is just the climate of the world
- 58:17Speaker 4: from a health standpoint. Every movie or thing that I
- 58:20Speaker 4: watched from the past, I just look at and be like,
- 58:21Speaker 4: can you believe all those people are so close together?
- 58:24Speaker 4: Can you believe that we were just so accepting of
- 58:26Speaker 4: like this or that or the other?
- 58:28Speaker 2: Thing?
- 58:28Speaker 1: Right?
- 58:29Speaker 4: You know, one thing I saw one thing I saw
- 58:30Speaker 4: recently people someone on Twitter was saying, can you believe
- 58:33Speaker 4: that we all just like went bowling, like sticking your
- 58:36Speaker 4: fingers into the bowling ball that someone else? You have
- 58:39Speaker 4: no idea that we all just did that and then
- 58:41Speaker 4: ate our chicken fingers and that fall. So I think,
- 58:46Speaker 4: you know, anytime I watched something from a year ago
- 58:49Speaker 4: and beyond, there's that, and that's definitely going on in
- 58:52Speaker 4: the back of my head, and going forward, I will
- 58:54Speaker 4: definitely be considering that and the safety of everybody around
- 58:57Speaker 4: in production.
- 58:58Speaker 1: Do you think the movie should be Do you think
- 59:00Speaker 1: movies should be conscious of that? Do you think do
- 59:03Speaker 1: you think movies should go back to the way they
- 59:05Speaker 1: were before compared to what's going on now? Should movies
- 59:11Speaker 1: tackle the fact that corona happened and sanitizing your hand
- 59:16Speaker 1: and washing your hands? And you know what I mean,
- 59:18Speaker 1: because when you go and watch a movie and somebody
- 59:20Speaker 1: does that, the whole audience is going to be like,
- 59:22Speaker 1: oh my god, so fucking no.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I know it's a question because I'm hoping to shoot
- 59:26Speaker 2: my film this coming summer and I don't plan to
- 59:30Speaker 2: address COVID at all, because I imagine it will come out
- 59:34Speaker 2: a year from the summer and with God willing, universe willing,
- 59:39Speaker 2: where COVID will be tackled. And I don't want my
- 59:42Speaker 2: film to be like, oh, it's a COVID movie, but yeah,
- 59:45Speaker 2: it's weird you think of, like, yeah, you think of
- 59:50Speaker 2: shooting something. I agree everything I watch now I'm like,
- 59:53Speaker 2: oh my god. We were watching the show call Somebody
- 59:55Speaker 2: Feed Phill. I don't know if you've ever seen. It's
- 59:57Speaker 2: really funny food show, and he's like literally sharing a
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: fork with a stranger and everyone we just like when
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: the room gasped, we were like, oh my god.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: I just really quickly on that very point. I think
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: sometimes the best movies exist in a world where, like
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: the the situation of the world isn't the focus. It
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: just happens to exist in that world. I think, like
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: you know, you think about the kind of Cloverfield, the
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: monster movie. Cloverfield tried to do a good job of
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: telling a story in a world where a monster movie
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: is happening, rather than making the movie about the monster.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Maybe not the best example, but I think as we
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: see movies going forward, there will be movies that exist
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: in the time of COVID. But if there are movies
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: that are about COVID, it's just going to be contrived
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: and boring and lame. But seeing a movie that exists
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: in this world that's about something else, I'm interested to
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: see how that'sful part of life, and so how to
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: tackle that in film and media?
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I'm interested.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: So they they made a comment in that other podcast
- 1:00:57Speaker 6: about how they were watching old episodes about and PI
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: and uh he's and the guy was Jason was like,
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: everyone in that show is dealing with Vietnam, you know,
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: years and years later. And his thought was like, you're
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: you know, you have to have like a character dealing
- 1:01:11Speaker 6: with the pan like what was going on in their
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: life during the pandemic. I don't know. I thought it
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: was kind of interesting thought, but I agree, Zach, You're
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: not gonna make a COVID.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Somebody. Somebody will. Somebody will, and I think and I
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: think that also that they'll do both things. Someone will
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: make a film about honey, movies about COVID. But then,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: like in your Magnum p I analogy, they'll be art
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: of all types, whether it's a PI show or or
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: a little dark indie where COVID is is a character.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Just the the the trauma, the emotional trauma of what's
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: happened to the earth for what will be two years
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: or more, I think is going to be something a
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: lot of artists make art about. All right, Cam, what's
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: your next question? For for the group.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Well, that was actually my other question was do you
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: do you see art changing?
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: All of y'a are in different types of obviously art,
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: and I know there's obviously the lohnging flute like fruit
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: like I assume, like you know, dance floors where DJs
- 1:02:13Speaker 6: are not going to be completely filled. Maybe, But do
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: you see it changing coming out of this on the
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: other side because of two or two and a half
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: years of being in it, I.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Never really thought about that.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: I don't think. I think. I think eventually people will
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: go back to nightclubs and people will go back to theaters.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: I don't think any of that's dying that quick a death.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: People love dance, people love to go see movies together.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: People like me are obsessed with live theater.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Wait, hold on, let me get this straight to Zach.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: You feel like the movie theater is going to make
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: a comeback again.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I think the movie theater as a as an experience
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: for Blockbusters is going to outlive us. Okay, I do
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: think that the idea, even I who love movies, when
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: I see when I see the trailer, I go, I'll
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: wait till it's to be on my big screen TV.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: Because I don't. It's not a film that for me.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: I want the theatrical experience. But then then nineteen seventeen
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: came out. I actually watched the screener because I had
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: the Award screener for it, and I went, holy shit,
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: I have done this film a disservice. I want to
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: go see it on a big ass screen. So I
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: think they'll always be, at least for our lifetime, an
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: experience that someone can go have and go see a
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: movie on a big screen. I think that the business
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: they'll do for smaller films that aren't about spectacle will
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: will dwindle.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just I have a hard time thinking that
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: people will go back to theaters. And I hope they
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: do go back to theaters. I don't want to jinx this,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: but it's just that's one of the dirtiest places you
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: can go as far as hygiene goes. You go to
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the bed, like when you sit down and the arm
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: rest next.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: To you, Well, COVID will be tackled. I mean, how
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: long is the question, but it will be conquered.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Okay, well it needs to be. We need I'm listen
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: and I hate to get political. I don't want to
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: get political about this, because I don't think this is
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: a political statement. But one hundred million vaccine, one hundred
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: million vaccine ship to the US, how many people have
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: been inoculated?
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: How many people have received a code vaccine? A million people?
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Okay, so one million out of one hundred million.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Not a three hundred million.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: I see where you're going though, because the thing is
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: what I did read earlier today is that like at
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: the current rate that we're that we're giving out the vaccine,
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: we're not going to give out the vaccine in total
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: for ten years, if we want to tell you.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Men, I know, okay, but in defense of in defense
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: of human beings and global logistics, I think that it
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: will be begin If you looked at the graph, it's
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: going to start picking. I mean not to be political,
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: but of course I have a feeling when Biden takes
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: over there might be a few smarter people in the
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: room to kick up the distribution. But even if it wasn't,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: even if everyone in this current administration were well in
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: ten and doing their best at one hundred percent, it's
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: still a pretty massive undertaking to to to give the
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: COVID vaccine to three hundred million people.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it's going to be an enormous undertaking. Also just
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: to correct because people will undoubtedly come at us. It's
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: two point one million people as of the recording. Two
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: point one million people in the US have received their company.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: And we've gotten a hot So let's make sure we
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: clarinet if you. Like I said, I don't want to
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: offend anybody by my numbers. These are the things. Before
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I would just black fucking it's such and such and
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: such and touch. I don't give a fuck about facts.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Nowadays it's very important. You're absolutely right.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: Yeah, to zax point you like you're gonna want to
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: see a horror film in a theater again, Like, it's
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: not the same. It's not the same watching a horror
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: movie at home by yourself. You're like, oh, it's it's
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: kind of scary. But when you hear three hundred people
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: gasp in a movie theater, there's nothing is replacing that presence.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: How will that be packaged, delivered and sold to us
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: is going to change drastically. My guess is we're gonna
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: see a spike in low ink like the dollar theaters
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: and things like that that are cheap and running very
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: old movies and things like that, because and then we'll
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: see obviously a hike in the very expensive you can
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: get booze and a like food items and things delivered,
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: and there's smells in the air or whatever they can
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: do to sensationalize and get more money. Because theaters are
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: going to have to adjust post pandemic, but they will adjust.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: They'll still have audiences.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: All right. Here's a great example, Joelle, if you had
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: to go to if you went to the movie theaters
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: to see Wonder Woman nineteen eighty five, which before you
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: pissed whatever it was when you walked out, wouldn't you
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: be pissed off?
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: No, I want to say, I understand that sometimes movies
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: are gonna be bad. I'm a movie theater goer.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Again, I don't know.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: I'm probably a bias pressa. I'm a film critic, so
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: I really have to pay for a movie. But even
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: when I do, I'm like, I go in for the
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: experience of like, I can't see a movie, and Wonder Woman,
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: to Zach's earlier point, gives you so much to talk about.
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: You could critique that movie seven thousand different ways, so
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: many things to discuss.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: It make cats though, Man, it ain't as bad as
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: it like. You know what I'm saying that I think
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: a cat.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: The thing.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: That's what I'm trying to say.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: By the way, Kristin Wig, Kristin Wigg was was a cat.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: I was expecting her to be like Jelics can and Jelicals.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: To step about that down, here's a curious.
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: Beast, James, James Gordon comes falling down.
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: You know whatever, it's cool.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: The person who put Kristen Wig in a movie and
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: did not allow her one opportunity to be funny needs
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: a handslap. Yeah all right, Cam, how can we? It's
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: time for everyone's favorite segment in South Carolina especially, it's
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: time to.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Fix your lie.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Cam. We're here for you. How can we help you?
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: We are professional therapist.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I don't it's you're talking to three professional therapists and
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Donald Yeah yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: I value your your judgement, Donald, for good or bad, if.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: It's about weed or Star Wars. We haven't ex I
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: got you.
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: Well.
- 1:08:02Speaker 6: I don't want to be on too long, so I
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: hate to go down the rabbit hole of always asking
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: the love questions. But and as my sister sex nice
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: to me specialty, she's going to roll her eyes.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: But is your sister next to you?
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: Yeah, she's right here.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Oh, hi, sisters sister, that's.
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: My sister Caroline. Yes, So I'm I'm thirty seven. I'm
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: the middle child. My sister is younger. I have an
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: older brother as well. Uh. They are both married and
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: have not one but two kids. The second one is
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: on the way for both of them. So I'm the
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: lone single sibling left in the family. And not that
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: there's a lot of pressure from the parents or from
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: other family members, but some uh and and I guess
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: my roundabout question is I don't know if some of
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: them feel like I'm too.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: Picky sometimes with finding a girl and then I.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: Want to go.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: So I know.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: And I say that because I.
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: You know, there's this idea of like when you know,
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: you know, and everybody has their story right that whatever
- 1:09:01Speaker 6: it may be. I feel like when people get married
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: or when they get together, they're like, you know, it
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: never would have happened because of this and this, And
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: I feel like I've had those moments, but then it
- 1:09:09Speaker 6: hasn't banned out.
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: So I'm like, is that a real moment? Was I
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: fooling myself? Was I not? You know?
- 1:09:15Speaker 6: So I guess that's the idea a little bit, if
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: that's a question at all, you know, I guess that
- 1:09:21Speaker 6: when you know, you know it is a true statement.
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: Maybe, But I just am I too picky?
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: You know, Like, no, I don't think there's such thing
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: as too picky. But you got to realize that it's
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: you know, it's a two way street, sore where you're
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: picky and your cup of tea might present itself you
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: might not necessarily be that person's cup of tea.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: So but also, can I say something you we all
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: are subscribing to this societal construct that there's something wrong
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: with you if you're your age and you haven't found
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: your person yet. And I think step one is you
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: have to just let that bullshit go.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's because of kids, though, man, it's because of kids.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, that's the only reason.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Though. It's all you get old or it's maybe a
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: little bit more difficult to have kids, and that's the
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: only reason why.
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Just as let me just say my thoughts. Just as
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: you were programmed, I'm sure that this was the right
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: religion for our family, and this is what we believe.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: And look, there's a book that says it all and
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: these are the rules, and and XYZ happens if you're good,
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: and ABC happens if you're bad. You were also programmed
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: that by age thirty you better be married and be
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: thinking about having kids, and you better stay with that
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: person for the rest of your life. And I just
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: think a good starting point for the conversation is just
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: as I don't know if you're religious or not, but
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: just as Donald and I, for example, are secular and
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: don't and chose not to subscribe to that aspect of
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: what we were fed. You can also say, guess what,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: what if my path is that I continue lead the
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: life that I have with enjoyment, I continue dating, and
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: holy shit, what if I find true love at forty five?
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: What if I have a kid? By the way, I
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: have a good friend who started having kids at fifty.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I've never seen the guy happier in his whole existence,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: you know, Gary Donald, So you don't know what's coming
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: for you. Now. We can give you strategies for some
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: ideas on how to know how to up your chances
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: of meeting the person. But I think the first step
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: would be letting go of like I'm in the wrong
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: because of what society tells me I'm supposed to be.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Doing yeah and well, and coming from the South, I
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: feel like it was like, all right, you graduated from
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: high school, you go to college for four years, you
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: graduate from college, you get the job, you get the
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: white picket fence, and yeah, by thirty that's all online.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: And I'm way past that. And it's been a understand Zach.
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: And it's a tough thing to let go of. But
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: in the back of my mind it like, you know,
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: gnawls at you a little bit, and well.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: What's happening is that every day you're telling yourself there's
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: something wrong with you.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Hm.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: And also that white picket fence fairy tale is of
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: the past. Man that shit.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Who the fuck wants a picket fence?
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Nobody wants that shit?
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: In more right, No, I mean literally and figuratively, who
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: the fuck wants that? I think they're ugly. I actually
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: have a I actually have an old weathered one. They're
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: beautiful weathered. I just don't like the white. Now that's
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: my that's my speech on that. That's just my two cents,
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: because obviously it's coming from a place that I've thought
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: a lot about. Because I'm forty five. I have a
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: girlfriend I'm in love with. But I'm forty five and
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: haven't done any of the White Picket Fence of it all.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: And when I do, you've done.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: You have done one thing that you have done, one
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: thing that is very and I think I know what
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: it is.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: I have a home and a dog.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: You've you put together quite a career and and that's
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: and that's part of the White Picket Finch fairy tale.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: And I think, and I'm gonna be honest with you,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I think that is part of the reason why so
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: many people nowadays are having a hard time finding the uh,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: the person that they're looking for or the person that
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: they think is out there for them. They're perfect person.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: You have to focus on yourself, if you're listen. I've been,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I've been in that relationship where it was like, let's
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: make this work, because maybe we can be happy if
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: we make No. Man, you have to be happy first
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: to be able to make someone else happy. You can't
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: be a miserable person and then and and expect to
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: find happiness in someone else. It doesn't work that way.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: That's not how it works. Regardless of what regardless of
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: what the movie says, and everything like that. That's not
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: how it goes. You have to be confident in yourself first.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: And I think you're already there, and so I think,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I think, I think. I don't think the problem is
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: whether you want to you know, why me? Why hasn't
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: it happened for me yet? I don't think it's I
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: don't think you're ready for it yet. I think if
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: you wanted it, you could go get that ship.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Anybody will get that. I'm sure Cam, especially in that
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Onesie could go, could go on dates and and meet
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: chicks to hook up with.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: But the ones here in the mustache make you look fire.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: Listen, Cam, I'm sure what called what I think is
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: happening is that Cam uh.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: On your body cam?
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: If you want these things. I'm sure you're dating, not
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: in COVID, but pre COVID. I'm sure you were dating, right, yes,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: And are you on any of the apps?
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: It's a relationship so some some months yes, some muths know.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I can tell you that that of course
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: you gotta be You gotta be on the field. You know,
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: you can't be in the stands. You got to be
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: playing the game, right because if you're if you're not
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: I mean, nowadays, you know, people don't want to go
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: lean on a bar and yell to a stranger. I
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: like your skirt. You can actually have a chance to
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: kind of get to know someone a little bit. Yeah,
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: think you're just sitting there giggling at me. Did you
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: fucking hit that weed during our break? Did you hit
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: the weed?
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: No?
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Man, I wouldn't about you. I want you. I want
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: you to be I want I'm gonna be one hundred
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: honest with you. There will never be a time ever
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: when we're making this podcast where while we're making it,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: I'm smoking weed unless.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: We all agree that we're smoking weed during the PA.
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Let's come, let's come in, hold on, let's no listen
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: once once. Once we're all injected and we and we're safe,
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: I think we should do an episode where we get
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: together in the same room and get high as balls
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: and do the show.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Yes, that's finding me. It won't be any different from me,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: It just be different for y'all.
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: All right, Sorry, but back to Cam's closet. Might be mad,
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: but we can have well maybe because the kids will
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: be back at school. Cam. One thing I just want
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: to say is that you have to know that it's
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: it takes work to sustain a relationship. It's not just
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: like if I think one thing that one thing negative
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: that's coming to the apps is that everyone's just like
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: pulling the roulette wheel and sorry, I think everyone's pulling
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: the one arm bandit. What do you call that thing?
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Slot machine? Yeah, yeah, everyone's everyone's like okay, okay, oh cool,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: she's cool. Yeah, we had a good day. Oh I'm
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: liking her. Oh she smokes drink. Next, Oh oh she
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: was kind of obnoxious to uh, you know, I want
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: people are people are are pulling the slot machine so
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: quickly being like thank you next, As Ariana Grande said,
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: and and whereas if you are in pursuit of a
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: committed relationship, it does take patience and giving giving something
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: time to brew.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I been guilty of that on some dates,
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: So I understand what you're saying.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: I'm sure there may be girls you went on a
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: date with and one sing negative happened and you're like,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: fuck this. Then that girl could have been amazing. She
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: might have had a bad night.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Right, Donald, Donald, I, I I was just thinking about that.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Or you might have had a bad night and you
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: might want that second chance, you know what I mean. Like,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: that's that's the thing. The first impression ship is it's
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: it's you always hear the story. Well, the first impression
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: was horrible, but the second impression, that's when I knew
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: I liked the person. With these app things, Now, you're right,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: it is swipe. I don't I don't know, but I
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: imagine that it would be with my kids at least
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: swipe swipe, swipe such and and and it's like everybody's
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: reading attributes nope, next and when did you ever have
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: that next? When did you have that? Right? But when
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: did you ever have that uh, that capability? You had
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: to get to know somebody before all of that. And
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: sometimes when you got to know somebody, you were able
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: to dismiss some of the attributes that you're reading, you
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: know what I mean. And so that's the one thing
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: that's a little bit crazy about the the the the
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: state of dating nowadays, this computer age, this app age,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: it just seems like there's just there's there's a little
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: bit of a disconnect because you're doing it through the
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: wires of the computer. You're getting to know you know.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: But I do think it's I'm very pro I think
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: you know, Daniel is one person. I have another friend.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: I'm very I've seen people really find true love through it, So.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying there
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: are steps that are you know what I mean. Whereas
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: you had to make an effort just to see each
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: other and talk to each other before. I now try
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: typing it on the phone.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: Try and match, Try and match Cam, because that seems
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: to be the one I keep hearing works for people.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: And you know, Tinder, you know, I think it's for
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: people looking to hook up, you know. And I don't
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: really know about the other ones because I've never been
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: on them.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: But I've never been on Bumble.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: I've never I've never been on any of that ship Cam.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: I recommend Match because I feel like that one I
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: seem to I seem to have a lot of people
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: they don't. They should advertise with this because I've I've
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: I've heard a lot of people have success with that one.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: But anyway, Cam, the point is you got to put
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: in the time and don't just and don't just especially
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: now during the pandemic, there's no reason you can't be
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: like laying foundation and flirting and getting yourself out there.
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: I recommend an only fans page cam. Yeah.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Also, also, don't be afraid to start on Donald. You
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: realize that every guest that comes on you recommend they
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: get an only fans account. Well, I think you're turning
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: our guests into.
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: Versus my first suscriber. Only if it's Donald, Only if
- 1:19:53Speaker 5: it's free.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: I don't think you can watch? Yeah you can, you can,
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: they're free, they're I've done my research about this only fans.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: No.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: I looked twin what's your name? Got it? And one
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: made all that money. I was curious. I was like,
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: what did you subscribe?
- 1:20:10Speaker 7: No?
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna give her money, but that was the.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Thing that you subscribe to only fans? Did What's that?
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Bella Thorne was the first person that made me go,
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: what the fuck is this? And I looked it up,
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: but I.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Did you subscribe to OnlyFans? Though? No, I haven't subscribed
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: to only fans like I have not even like listen,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you, man. There are a
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: bunch of people in I just spit on my camera.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: Look at that ship, that ship, there are a bunch
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: of people in on Instagram that have only fans and
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: male and female, and I'm like, why would you get
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: only fans? I don't understand, you know what I mean?
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: And then I heard about the money you can make
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: why and it's like yeah, And then it's like, wait
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: a second, you could make some money on only.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: People want to see naughty ship.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: I mean, they don't necessarily have to do naughty.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: Yes, you have to like beat off, but you have
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: to like show.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: Something I got I gotta show. I gotta show junk.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: I think, Joelle, why Joe, what are people paying for
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: if they're not?
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: So here's the problem. Here's the problem is that people
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: like celebrities are like, oh, I'm doing only fans and
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: everyone's like, oh, naughty bits, dope. I will pay one
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: hundred dollars for that photo. And then they get the
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: photo and you can have seen that on Instagram and
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: you're like, what the hell did I.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Just spend one hundred dollars for? So you can go
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: on there and post whatever you want.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: But customer satisfaction varies.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: Right, But you haven't answered my question, Joelle, which is
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: what am I seeing on only fans? As a satisfied
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: customer that doesn't involve nudity, nothing, nothing.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: I mean, there wasn't ever intentionally designed for this originally
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: supposed to be for like artists and stuff.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: No matter what, no matter what anyone invents, they're like, okay, now,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: how can we use it for sex?
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: It's just like Patreon, and Patreon also has as this
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: as well. There are people who sell you know, sex
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: work on Patreon. It's just only fans became something that
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: seemed more for that. Yeah, but even so their platform.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, what is it, two birds
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: with one stone? Only fans, you're meeting people, meeting new people.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: No, I don't think you should go on only fans.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: And two you're making money. So let's let's just get
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: down to it.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: Don't take his advice.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: It's the American white Oh god.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: All right. On that note, Cam, you are welcome. You're
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: welcome to We hope that you'll when you finally meet
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: someone that you have some stronger feelings for than just
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: a hook up. I hope you'll let us know and
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: check in. And I do think that you should use this,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: this opportunity, this moment that you were on the podcast
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: wearing our faces on you as a means of hooking
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: up with your new lady. If there's like.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Any girl out there that you want to talk to
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: right now, if you I don't mind putting pressure on you, Cam.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: No, I'll do with your sister and your brother.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: No, you don't want to You don't want.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: To call out anyone specifics name in South Carolina?
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: Well people all the time. You know who you are.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: Girl.
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: This will just be a story for a date, right right,
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: story by the.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Way, by the way, and by the way, and this
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: is how you end the story. You go and and
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: then and then after they gave me that advice, all
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: I could think about was you wow, man, Mike Tropp,
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Mike Troup, Dan the sound of a mi trop.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Can't now you just used it?
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Man, Missus Cam doesn't listen to this podcast.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: If they're gonna work out that she probably does. Man,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: they probably have that in common.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: What's gonna bring listens to the office?
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: We fixed Cam Man. She listens and that's probab podcast.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Alright, we gotta go because I have to pee and
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: we've really done the show. Cam. You can stay for
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: the end because we pretty much did the show. It's
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: a weird one, but we laugh.
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: I appreciate it.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: I want to go on real quick, real quick. I
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: just I appreciate y'all. Joelle mentioned Ted Lasts so earlier,
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: but this podcast definitely came wrong at the right time
- 1:24:11Speaker 6: for me obviously, right when the pandemic started, and for
- 1:24:14Speaker 6: my mental health has been a blessing every week. I
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: thought a lot about Jimmy V and what he said
- 1:24:19Speaker 6: in one of his speeches on ESPN about you should laugh, think,
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: and have your emotions moved to tears every day and
- 1:24:25Speaker 6: it's a full day.
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: And this podcast definitely does those three things for me.
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: Every time I listen.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: I appreciate all of y'all.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: Listen. There is no better There is no better compliment, Cam.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: And if you're out there and we are making you
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: laugh and and I can't tell you there's no thing
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: that makes Donald and I and I'm sure Joell and Danelle,
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: but I can definitely speak for Donald and I. Nothing
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: makes us happier than hearing somebody say that.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: So absolutely, it's also just for selfish purposes, you know,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: just for you're right, Cam, Like, just for us to
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: be able to get together once twice a week and
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: talk to each other, you know. And this time I
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: don't see a lot of people, and you know, I
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: I was starting to hang out with Zach again and
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: then you know, we got locked down and stuff like that.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: So I definitely appreciate what you're talking about, Kim. I
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: totally feel you.
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: Man cool, thanks.
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: Man, all right, everybody, thank you for listening, and we'll
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: be back with more soon.
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Wait, but before we go. Last week we did five, six, seven, eight,
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: and people got pissed.
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: I think Okay, I think we did, but we didn't
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: trust we did not. So Donald, do you want me
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: to do it? Because I've been a while since I
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: did it.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Get your mouth, Freddy, let me warm up.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: Baby bibo boom baby baby bi bo boo. The lips
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: tip the tongue, the lips tipsy the tongue, Whether will
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: it be colder, whether would be hot? Will be together like.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: Like or not?
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: Ready?
- 1:25:53Speaker 7: Sure, we made about a bunch of.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Animal who love making.
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: I said, here's the stories.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Nepww should know.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: So gadder rand you here, Gader round you
- 1:26:10Speaker 7: Here, our scufree my shobies and no mm hmmm,
