- 0:01[SPEAKER_06]: I love your Cleveland and I love you, Ohio and a very pleasant welcome to the Big Play Cleveland Show.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_06]: Hi, I'm Bruce Stratton and of course we're with you Monday through Friday and noon live on YouTube brought to you by our good friends at FanDewall.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_06]: Of course, Matt Fontana usually is with me here on Thursdays but he is off today and Ryan Tyler also our producer is off today, he's so pet McGuire.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_06]: is something Pat good to see you friend and we got a really a packed show today featuring Mark Lawrence really looking forward to picking his brain about the pros and the college football season up coming.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_04]: Can't wait for Bruce.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to be a great show today because, honestly, to Sean Watson that news, the guardians, do they actually have a chance?
- 0:49[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if they actually do Bruce, but honestly at this point I'll take any hope we can get with that guard team to Sean Watson is the news of the day.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, and it's great to have you with us so we're going to be covering the Guardians as well.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_06]: They finally won a game last night, and thank goodness they play the rubber match today against the Detroit Tigers.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_06]: We'll cover that.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_06]: And I got a little bit to say about the WNBA.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_06]: You will not want to miss that segment.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_06]: But here to open up the show, I want to just get your take on the announcement by Munkin.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_06]: that indeed it will be to Sean Watson starting this first preseason game.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_06]: Sanders is going to play the second half and then what Munkin is saying is that the next game, it'll be Sanders starting to Sean Watson will come in the second half.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_06]: So he's playing it pretty balanced right now.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_06]: But as I've said here on the show throughout and I'm going to ask Mark Lawrence when we get him on here in a couple of minutes.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_06]: to me it's got to be Watson.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_06]: He's got the experience, you've got to try to get something for all that money that the Browns gave him and you can always bring Sanders in if Watson is a bust.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_06]: But if you start Sanders and you have Watson in the wings to me that creates somewhat of a chaotic situation in that locker room, where do you stand on this pad?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, boy, Bruce, I just, the thing about it is like, Deshawn Watson, the player support him more than I think the fans do and that can be a difficult thing for a lot of fans to grapple with.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_04]: In that locker room, a lot of players like you heard Jerry Judy kind of supporting the guys like at a certain point, the guys want the guys who can contribute to this football team.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_04]: If these gonna be able to be able to lead the team and not have any off the field issues, that sort of stuff, I know that's probably in the past for him, but
- 2:34[SPEAKER_04]: All the matters is if you're completing passes under center, you're not going to want to see.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if you saw some of the clips from training camp Bruce where he's throwing into triple coverage and you know, in those clips from last year, it was kind of reminiscent of the last time he was under training camp, where he's throwing into triple coverage, double coverage, interceptions all day.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_04]: There's nine interceptions in like 12 days, something along those lines, Bruce, where
- 2:54[SPEAKER_04]: If he's going to be able to perform, I think anybody will rally against him.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_04]: That's just kind of how it goes in the NFL.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_04]: And the Browns are no different because I think Todd Munkin.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to take the best quarterback that he can.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_04]: Or there's name is Shudor Sanders.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_04]: Whether there's name is Deshaum Watson.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_06]: Well, you know, I've been saying all along that you look at the schedule.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_06]: There are a lot of winnable games for the Browns.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_06]: To me, it's a weak schedule, which benefits us.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_06]: The
- 3:21[SPEAKER_06]: AFC North plays the NFC South this year in the rotation of divisions and going across to the other conference, and the NFC South's weakest division in all a football.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_06]: So outside of Tampa Bay, there's three very winnable games,
- 3:39[SPEAKER_06]: And also, you've got the New York Jets, the New York Giants, even with our bot taking over Las Vegas, even getting Mendoza.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_06]: They're still a long way from serious contention.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_06]: Tennessee is on the skit.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, there's some winnable games.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_06]: And,
- 3:58[SPEAKER_06]: with the division featuring two other new coaches and Pittsburgh and Baltimore, I could feasibly see a nine and eight winning this division or at best, a ten and seven.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_06]: I'll be surprised if a team will post a better mark than that.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_06]: With that being said, the Browns, to me, need just quarter backing, decent quarter backing.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_06]: That's a big
- 4:28[SPEAKER_06]: with us especially, but if they get decent quarterbacking, there's some winnable games that he take on that.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Bruce this is the first time that the AFC North is at any sort of turnover like this and it's kind of a it's like you mentioned a really strange era because the consistency right now is the Cincinnati Bengals, which You know, other than the Cleveland Browns, they haven't really even been the most consistent team in this division.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_04]: So that it's pretty wide open.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to see it's a central type of wide open, but it's pretty wide open at this certain point because the Bengals don't really have a defense.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_04]: They've never had and that sort of been their calling card is the offense right now, but Bruce
- 5:03[SPEAKER_04]: I think the Browns have a chance to be a little bit better than people think you might want to take a look at those Fandle futures bets on the Fandle sportsbook.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously Mark Lawrence is going to have a couple of opinions on our Cleveland Browns here with their win totals that sort of deal.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, I think they're going to be a better team than people think because you traded Miles Garrett, you know, people are going to say that defense, you know, you lost Jim Schwartz, you lost Miles Garrett.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: I think they're going to be better than people think the wind title could be a little bit higher than you might think as well.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_06]: Speaking of Mark Lawrence, why don't we take a break and bring in the editor publisher of the playbook, the new edition is out, and we're going to show you the cover.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_06]: It's a beauty this year.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_06]: Mark Lawrence next.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_06]: We're brought to you by Fandwell.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_04]: And Bruce, our segment is brought to you by Fandle.

- 8:41[SPEAKER_06]: back at our big play Cleveland show Brew Strennan and of course Pat McWyer subbing for Ryan this week the one and only mark Lawrence we teamed up decades ago and I mean several decades ago he's a native Cleveland very transplanted to the Miami area he's the editor publisher of the playbook I'm showing you now his latest publication for the upcoming 2026 season he's got
- 9:05[SPEAKER_06]: appropriately on the cover, and old friend, it is great to have you back on the program.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_06]: How are you, Mark?
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think Clayton is well.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_06]: And certainly, I want to start, we're going to get the signetti and that incredible story from a year ago.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_06]: But I do want to segue from the opening segment with Pat and myself to the pros.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_06]: And of course, in the playbook, the 2026 football preview guy, by the way, a playbook sports.com, your website to check it out, friends.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_06]: Get all the info you need on Mark's publication.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_06]: And it's an encyclopedia, believe me.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_06]: the Browns Mark.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_06]: I have been their biggest critic for years, but I pride myself in my fairness and you probably heard me say there's winnable games on this schedule.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_06]: I looked at this schedule and with the new coaches in Pittsburgh and Baltimore and Cincinnati's defense still a question, a 9 and 8, a 10 and 7 could win the division, um, what's your take on my opinion of that?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, I'm an optimist, Bruce, just like you are, too.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if they're going to be a 10-win team in this football season, it would surely be great.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: But they do have a lot of things working in their favor that Las Vegas doesn't seem to want to acknowledge.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of things, as you mentioned, the schedule is very soft.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, they have a five-week spin from October running in November where they don't leave home, which is really strong.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: I like to make up of this team, especially in the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: number four or five in the league last year.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: And what are they doing in the off season here?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: I know Miles Garrett's going, but boy, I think that was a great trade for Cleveland here.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: You've got the only team in national football in history that has a pair of defensive rookie of the years playing on the team from back to back seasons.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's going to be the anchor for this football team.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's the defense.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to go as far as the defense goes.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to hope that hopefully the Sean Watson rakes out this football season.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_06]: And then he
- 11:11[SPEAKER_06]: had a pretty good draft.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_06]: They addressed some needs, Mark, particularly at wide receiver.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_06]: They already had a good young running back in Judkins and a good young tight end in fanon.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_06]: But obviously the offensive line is going to be a key, but the biggest key, as we all know, is the quarterback position.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_06]: Do you agree with me that it should be Watson rather
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, the saying Bruce, just follow the money.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you have to follow the money with that question because it's Watson that's taking down all the money.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: You have to justify the signing, but more importantly, he's healthy now.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: And give the guy a break.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: Give him a shake.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what he can do when he's healthy.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's a question that he should not be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_02]: And as far as Shadura Sanders goes, you know, he's really surprised a lot of people, but his work will decide whether or not he plays and it will be seen in obviously you're in training camp and in the on the field as well, but right now I'm saying Deshawn Watson has to be the quarterback for the Cleveland Brown.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_06]: Let's go to Pittsburgh where McCarthy is reuniting with Aaron Rogers from their days together in Green Bay when they want a super bowl, but that was a lot of years ago, and particularly in Rogers case considering he's, well, I won't say that he's approaching your age or my age mark, but he's getting, he's getting up there, my friend, you're take on the Steelers this year.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, you're bringing Aaron Rogers back with Mike McCartney.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a nice pairing, if he will per se.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: But just a little bit too late on the clock, as far as that's concern.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: Aaron Rogers 42 year old quarterback in the National Football League doesn't figure to make a lot of noise.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to make a lot of noise this season here as well.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: In the first year without Mike Tomlin as a head coach, he was such a great commander for that football program here.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: never back to back losing season.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: That says it all as far as he's concerned.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think Pittsburgh's going to struggle this year and I think the Browns play up to their level.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Their ability.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think he can finish ahead of Pittsburgh in the standings.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_06]: A bond of more has a new coach and I'm in taking over for Harbaugh.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_06]: You know, um, is great.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_06]: A talent as Lamar Jackson is.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_06]: He's been an undereachiever.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_06]: Am I being harsh in saying that in that?
- 13:31[SPEAKER_06]: He's never led that team to the Super Bowl, Mark.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: No, and that's the big, you know, the big bug-a-boo with John Harbaugh, that they were really, really struggling of the late, one of the reasons they separated.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you have to look at Lamar Jackson.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: You have to hold him accountable.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's an exciting player and no question about it, but he's also injury prone, per se, if you will.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be surprised to see what happens here.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're bringing Jesse Mitter in here to run this program.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's a defensive coordinator.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if that's going to help this offense for Baltimore, any whatsoever.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: They're favored to win the division.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: And they're also favored the third favorite to make it to the Super Bowl out of the AFC.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be a good football team this year.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think they're going to run away like Vegas thinks they are.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_06]: And that brings us to Cincinnati where if they have, if they protect Burl, and if they improve defensively, and I know they've addressed that, they could be the team to beat because we know that Burl can score, and he's already led this team to the Super Bowl, and they lost that year.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_06]: But nonetheless, they could be the sleeper here.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_06]: I think you're taken.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they could be the sleeper.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, they're the second choice in the division.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: And what has to happen hasn't happened in Cincinnati in quite a while.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's the defense showing up in appearing.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: If it does, they could end up making noise and an upstaling the division.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: They have enough talent on offense to do just that.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: But I come from Missouri as far as it's concerned with the Cincinnati Bengals in that defense.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: You have to show me first that you're going to be as good as what you hope to be.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: And if they are, they can challenge Baltimore for the division title.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_06]: By the way, I didn't ask you this earlier when we were talking about the
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was a little bit surprising, you know, and I think I like the direction here personally, you know, you need to, you need the fresh new talent, you need fresh blood in the program here, right now, Monka is bringing just that.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's going to be a fair evaluator of the talent, especially starting at the quarterback position.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: There's too much familiarity if you will with sports and defensive coordinator here and what's the offense going to improve undersports.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: I doubt that it can undermine and that's what it's all about putting some spark into this offense.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_06]: Do you, um, do you agree this could be a division where nine and eight might be enough to win it?
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could be.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: It really can.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know,
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: If for no other reason, there's not any dominating team in the division might say Baltimore people do, but they have to show me and prove it to me as well.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: New head coaches really tend to struggle a little bit that first year and especially when they're reading and comes from the defense of the football.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think ten wins will win this division and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a nine win team win the division as well.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_06]: Last question about this division and our Cleveland Browns.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_06]: I think the overrunner for wins is five and a half.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_06]: What do you have them doing?
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to get over the number here, Bruce.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: I love the defensive makeup of this football team.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think they like playing for Jeff Monkon.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they're going to play with this big massive chip on their shoulder here with Miles Garrett being going here.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: This defense is really good.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: And they're going to, they don't want to take a back seat and say, it was all Miles Garrett that did all that last year.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: It was the defense.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, you're going to jerk adverse.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: This kid is really, really good.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Browns get over five and a half wins this season and I think the edgel Pittsburgh for third place in the division.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_06]: Mark Lawrence editor publisher the playbook playbook sports dot com let's go to the AFC East where obviously New England is a defending champions.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_06]: They represented the conference in the Super Bowl only to lose to Seattle as they did.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_06]: Vrable's got a little baggage.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_06]: Is that a minor distraction or does that carry over into the season?
- 17:13[SPEAKER_06]: Drake may a young quarterback made his presence no one you're take on them this year.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, certainly not going to help them all, it's all field distraction.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: No question about that, but I think the big elephant in the room, as far as no England is concerned, is that they address up as the Super Bowl losing team last year.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: And Super Bowl losers tremendous trouble, trouble, tremendously the next football season here.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's the mantra they have to overcome here being that defending Super Bowl loser.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: And they were also the team that improved the most in net wins in the national football league last year.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: They were plus 11 net wins over the year before.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: Teams that do that tend to tumble almost automatically in the next football season.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the win won wins the division.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_06]: Is this to her die for Buffalo?
- 17:57[SPEAKER_06]: They also have a new coach, Josh Allen is a tremendous, tremendous talent, but obviously like Lamar Jackson, he has never led the bills to the Super Bowl, one of the teams that has thwarted him throughout his career as Ben Kansas City, but they weren't a factor last year and they still were not able to get over that hump.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_06]: You're take on Buffalo and Allen.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, don't sweep Buffalo or Kansas City aside this season here, Bruce.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think Brady taking over his head coaches, good for Buffalo, it's familiar already.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: They needed to change their question about that.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: And they also, they're gonna play seven prime time games, so are the Rams, most of the national football like this year, deeply, deeply talented.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: But what I really like about Buffalo this year is they're the only team in the league that last year, they improved both their offense and their defense, but they went backwards straight up and against the spread.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's a combination that wins every year, the following year, Buffalo checks that box.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think Buffalo wins the AFC this year.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_06]: You're not expecting much out of either the New York Chats or Miami.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_06]: Are you?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: Something close to next to nothing, Bruce.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_06]: that tells it like it is.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_06]: Let's go to the South.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_06]: I was in, uh, uh, made a, friendly on air bet with my producer Ryan, who's off today.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_06]: Pad is subbing a ably for him about that Jacksonville team last year.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_06]: I, I thought they'd be good.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_06]: I thought was, especially with Hunter, of course he got hurt, but Trevor Lawrence was due to come out.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, they no longer, you know, had the curse of,
- 19:33[SPEAKER_06]: urban mire in that disaster a few years ago and they were a real good team last year and they showed it in the playoffs they were far from embarrassed um they're a strong team and what is Hunter status is he going to come back and what contribution do you think he can make for the Jaguars?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Jaguars are going to also take a step back where this year here at Tubers.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: They made that mighty quantum leap last year.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, next in England, they were the second most team that improved in net wins last football season.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: They were plus eight and a half net wins overall.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's also really, really heavy weight to have to carry the next year.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: Suddenly, they go from
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: they're being the hunted rather than the hunter last year and they're going to find out what it's like for everybody to be coming after New England instead of New England going after everybody else.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think it catches up with the Jaguar this year.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_06]: Interesting does that mean that you are favoring Houston with CJ Strowd?
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's all about defense versus the national football like they're the best, the Houston Texans.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I think CJ Strowd's going to have a really nice bounceback football season this year.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_06]: What do you see out of Indianapolis and Tennessee?
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the titans are, I like that their chances here to improve, I don't know if they're going to go anywhere, and I think Indianapolis is also going to struggle with this football season here as well.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: I know they're trying to make a case for Richardson, Anthony Richardson to be the quarterback there.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a huge mistake.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to open up here in the preseason when Tim play the first half this weekend.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I think the cults are still
- 21:02[SPEAKER_06]: of the cults of old uh... i don't think they're gonna threaten anybody inside that division here i don't see any apples going anywhere alright let's go to the west where you are ready uh... tip your hand out with uh... cancer city mohomes Kelsey read uh... i had said just because it last year was last year doesn't mean that they come back it can't come back in force this season i totally agree with you about cancer city
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he comes back healthy, Bruce.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's a question about Kansas City winning that division here and head and shoulders the best team in that division and probably likely to challenge Buffalo for the AFC if the home is healthy.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: You got Andy Reed at the home here.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's one of the best coaches in the national football league.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: And Kansas City is going to play with an embarrassing egg on their solar what happened last year.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that was a tremendous fall by Kansas City.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: What goes up usually comes back and what goes down usually comes up Bruce.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: That will happen with Kansas City this year.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to win that division.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_06]: Well, Jim Harbaugh took over.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_06]: over the L.A. Chargers, he's got Justin Herbert, a tremendous quarter back, but again, here's a guy that has never made it to the Promised Land, meaning the Super Bowl.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_06]: The Harball, of course, brings his own style and baggage along with him.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_06]: What do you see from the Chargers this year?
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the Chargers are a team that everybody likes to love, okay?
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: Because it looks like the potential is always there, and it has been since Herbert's taken over.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: But they have a big, big hurdle to get over this year, and it's the fact that they have
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: new coordinators on the football team.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I ran this through my database teams needed to play off the previous year and have to retool with two new coordinators the next year really, really, really struggle.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's the role for the chargers this particular season here.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be a football team that everybody's going to want to take down this year.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the chargers are going to win the division and they all struggle to make the playoffs.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_06]: That brings me to Denver with Sean Payton at the helm and of course the young bonyx as their quarterback, a lot of people are high on them.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they should be Bruce on one of the great job last year, you have to get Payton his credit done.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: All the guy he does is notice how to win, he doesn't get out coached very often in football games.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Unfortunately, they had to bow out of the playoffs due to a quarterback injury situation last year.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be rubbing and raring to go this year.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: The questions can they get past Kansas City?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to play each other obviously twice this year, whichever one of those teams wins both of those football games will be the AFC West Division winner.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_06]: And you know, even though Vegas is the consensus picked to be the last place team, I'm interested to see them this year whether Mendoza starts or not.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_06]: He's going to be in there at some point.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_06]: And my take on him, Mark, let me see if you disagree.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_06]: You know, the key to great quarterbacks in the NFL are timing patterns.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_06]: They release their passes before the receiver makes his cut.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_06]: And they precisely throw it to where that receiver is going to be.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_06]: So when the receiver turns around, there's the ball.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_06]: In college, you don't see that, but you did see that with Mendoza at Indiana.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_06]: I was so impressed with him.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_06]: In college, can he make that transformation into the pros and be as great as he was in college?
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, Bruce.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: So he's going to have to have some talent around him.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_02]: He may not start the season here.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: You likely won't, probably won't see him till the second half of the season.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: If Kirk Cousins doesn't give away first, but there's a reason that Indiana set all the records they set last year, 16 and 0 football team.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's because they use Mark Cuban's money to go out and get men doza last football season here.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think this kid is going to be a home run in the national football league.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: and the rares will be coming back sooner than later.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking and anticipating windows that have a nice rookie season this year.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_06]: All right, before we start analyzing the NFC, let me show Mark's publication again.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_06]: There it is.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_06]: It's the Playbook, 2026 Preview College and Pro Signetti.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_06]: I'm the cover and you've got to check it out.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_06]: Mark, tell him how to get the publication.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: Publication is really easy, Bruce.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: You can go to Barnes and Noble if there's a Barnes and Noble anywhere near you.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's on sale there to book some millions also a new stand.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: If you can't get to either and you want to have it delivered conveniently, we'll ship it out to you by priority mail.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: You can log on to the website at playbook sports.com and order that preview guide.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_06]: All right, let's go to the NFC and start in the east where Philadelphia obviously is going to be the favorite to win that division.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_06]: Maybe not in your opinion, but we'll see in a minute, Jalen heard some company.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_06]: They look to be strong again, right?
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're going to be strong, Bruce.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: My biggest concern here is can they win the division three years in a row.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: They broke that scheme last year.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: The first team to win back to back NFC east division titles in 20 years last year when they won the division.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: cards this year.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: They are the best team no question in the division.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know where the competition's going to come from here obviously.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a week division.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: You throw Philadelphia out.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: It could be the weakest division in the national football league.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think just by concession Philadelphia wins the division.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_06]: Dallas deck press got the New York Giants with John Harbour and Washington with Jaden Daniels.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_06]: Do you see a comeback for the commanders?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: I do see a comeback for the commanders here, Bruce.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: I talked about the regressions, the factor last year, and they slipped seven games last year.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: And any team that reaches that barrier hits at seven win or worse regressions bounces back mightily the next fall season.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Washington will be the last place team in this division, and I think they'll threaten to make the playoffs.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_06]: How long does Harba, how long will it take for Harba to rebuild the giants, you think?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to be overnight, that's for sure.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they don't get good instantly overnight, just because of the head coach.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_02]: There's some more talent issues there.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: He'll make this team better.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: He'll make them more competitive.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's no question about it.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: But we won't see that this year.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_06]: All right, let's go to the north.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_06]: And this is a very, very strong balanced division.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_06]: Green Bay, what Jordan love to trite a goth in company.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_06]: Chicago with Caleb Williams, what a season and coming on.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_06]: They had last year.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_06]: And Minnesota, now they've got Kyler Murray.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_06]: I thought maybe he tried baseball.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_06]: What do you see in this North?
- 27:18[SPEAKER_06]: This is a very tough division to pick.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: One of the toughest divisions I think in all of football, Burst, I'm going to fade this Chicago bearers this particular football season here.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: And one of the axioms that I use is they led the league in National Football League.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: net turnovers to the plus last year.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: They were plus 22 at the end of the regular season.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: There's always regression to teams that were for to this to that degree like Chicago was last year.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to go backwards, at least on the net turnover situation.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: And you can't afford to be negative with net turnovers on the national football league.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think Minnesota is going to end up surprising here.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Kyla Murray is going to end up being the comeback player of the year.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: in the National Football League here this year.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love their head coach.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: You've got Justin Jefferson and Widershey or maybe the best in the National Football League.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think Minnesota surprises this year.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_06]: How about Detroit?
- 28:05[SPEAKER_06]: Is Campbell on the hot seat if they don't get to the Super Bowl or come down close?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_06]: Because, you know, they have the distinction along with the Cleveland Browns as being one of the original NFL teams.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_06]: One of the Browns in Detroit
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's good news, Bruce.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, good news that the Browns didn't, but interesting news.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't aware of that.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: Detroit happens to own the softest schedule in the national football like this year.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: Based on strength of schedule on the way, we based strength of schedule at playbook is simple.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: You look at all the teams opponents to look at their projected season when total add them together and see who's the strongest in the league's strongest of the week is in the entire national football like Detroit plays the softest schedule this year.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_06]: How about Green Bay?
- 28:53[SPEAKER_06]: How do you see them?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not really sold on the Green Bay Packers here.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I don't know if it's so much of the head coach or the quarterback.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think they'll end up being competitive probably making the playoffs here.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's going to end up being Minnesota into Troy inside this division.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_06]: All right, let's go to the south where this, I think, arguably is the weakest division.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_06]: A Tampa Bay Scott Mayfield, they should be the favorite Atlanta with Stefansky now as their head coach, but they've got quarterback problems.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_06]: Carolina, New Orleans, my goodness, schedule feeders, how do you see the week south?
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's going to be a surprise coming out of this division, Bruce.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: If for no other reason, it's very winnable.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to take a team last year that closed like a freight train nobody even realizes that they did and that's the New Orleans Saints.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: They got Tyler Schugger's the quarterback who improved with each and every game last year and if he stays on that projected pattern here, I think they're going to be the team to be here.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: you go down the stretch and see what they did last year straight up and against the spread as good as any team in the national football league.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Saints steal this division.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_06]: And in conclusion, let's go to the NFC West, which is arguably the strongest division in all of pro ball.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously, Seattle, the defending Super Bowl champions under McDonald, they have Sam Donald, of course, who is so glad that he left Minnesota for the Pacific Northwest.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_06]: The Rams getting Miles Garrett, Sean McVay, and let's remember this.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_06]: They played Seattle three times last year, the first time they beat him.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_06]: twenty one to nineteen.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_06]: The second time they lost thirty eight thirty seven and then in the playoffs.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_06]: They lost to Seattle thirty one to twenty seven we can't forget about San Francisco.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_06]: I don't know about Arizona your take on the West.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm glad you mentioned Arizona for this because I was going to just bring up the simple fact that.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: They take on what will be the toughest schedule in the National Football League.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: So you can get the shovel up and start bearing the dirt over the Arizona Cardinals.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's not going to happen this year.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_02]: The Rams are going to be very, very tough here.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, and you know, they're talking about also Tyree killed joining the team later this year.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: I personally, I'm down here in Miami.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_02]: I know all about this guy.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: He is a pure cancer to a football team.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: And if they do that, I think it'll be a huge mistake.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: He might look nice on paper, but it's not going to help the football team in the locker room.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't believe it will.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: I like San Francisco to make a lot of noise inside this division here if they're healthy, which they can be and they should be.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: Kyle Shanhand does not get out coast very often much at all.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think San Francisco edges out the Rams and the Rams end up holding a disappointing runner up trophy.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_06]: Do you think Donald will come out of retirement and to join this great Possibility of edge rusher's that brings back the fearsome force a member of them with a long day and Roosevelt career in company.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_02]: We're going back in some good times there, Bruce.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I do think Aaron Donald will come back Donald will come back this football season.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, it all depends upon itself and his attitude, but if he does, they're going to be really, really tough, but you know, from what we do, looking at beating the spread each and every week, they're going to be priced accordingly because of that.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: And the Rams are going to be a little bit of an overlay this football season to the spread.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: So be careful back in the Rams blindly this football season.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_06]: All right, the one and only Mark Lawrence editor publisher of the Playbook Playbook Sports.com is her website when we come back after the break.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_06]: We're going to dive into college football.

- 34:38[SPEAKER_06]: Here's the publication again.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_06]: I'm showing you the playbook, playbook, sports.com, your website, and with Signetti, I'm the cover.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_06]: That's a good place to start and cover in college, a football mark.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_06]: The greatest college coaching job of all time is how you term it with Signetti, I'm the cover.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_06]: I think the team will go down as one of the greatest champions of all time.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_06]: What a story.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: what a story is right for us.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: They go from the third worst team in college with all time win-loss record to 16 and 0 and two years with Kirk's Agnetti give me a break.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's an absolutely a fantastic coach and what he did last year dissecting everybody in the tough big 10 conference no less.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: What's why we had to put him on the cover here.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's got he has to get his just do.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: Now the question is will Josh Hoover, the transfer that comes in from TCU, be able to fill the shoes of Mendoza.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's saying that he's going to have the football team ready.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: They spend a lot of money in those football team this year.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: The fifth largest spending by a college football program by Indiana this year.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I think they're going to be in the mix.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're going to win the whole thing, but Signeady will not embarrass himself this year.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: He never does.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_06]: They've got, um, at Nebraska, I'll ask you about Nebraska in a bit.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_06]: Um, their home against Ohio State, they travel the Ann Arbor to play Michigan.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_06]: They're home to Southern Cal and they're at Washington, uh, pretty tough schedule.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_06]: Uh, do you see them making the playoffs?
- 36:06[SPEAKER_02]: I do, Bruce, you know, the schedule's tough every team in the Southeast conference.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: Their schedule looks tough as well.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: It should be because of the two big bears in all of college football.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: So everybody's going to play that tough schedule inside the big 10 conference.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: they're just going to have to get used to it.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think Indiana's been there and done that before.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're going to take too many steps backwards this year here.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: I think they'll get the job done in a quick end of the college football playoff.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_06]: Ryan Day in our Ohio State Buckeyes, you have them listed as the top team in the country.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_06]: They're at Texas, at Southern Cal, home to Oregon, and home to the team up north.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_06]: They just keep reloading Mark.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's incredible, Bruce, what they do here, as far as the continuity of the Sopal program, each and every year, when you're making up top 10s, you start with Ohio State, and you look at everybody else underneath them here.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be in the college football championship playoff game this year.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_02]: I love this defense.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: I love what Ryan Day does.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's nobody in college football that puts together better defenses than do the Ohio State book, guys.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: just follow the money Bruce Ohio State in the college football playoff championship game because they spend the money.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_06]: Another team that figures to be in the playoffs is Oregon under Dan Landing.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_06]: What a fine job he's done up there.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_06]: They're at USC at Ohio State.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_06]: And they are home to Michigan.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_06]: Dante Moore might be the number one draft pick you're taking on the ducks.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be tough.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce is going to be real tough.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: I have
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: uh... in the big ten championship game or indiana but uh... they're really really good here personally in a big a top five football team Oregon so this conference is absolutely loaded in Oregon is one of those team what you think of the kyle winning him uh... uh... uh... higher at michigan and your thoughts on the Wolverines this year he's a good coach
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: he's a terrific coach.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot shoot holes at anything at all at what he's done here and I think he's going to end up helping that program as well.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: Might be a little bit slippery slope the first year because it takes time for everybody to get on the same page but he doesn't embarrass himself highly ever at all Kyle Wooding him.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was a great higher for that football program.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_06]: James Franklin leaving Penn State, of course, and going down to Virginia Tech will get to that in a minute, but Matt Campbell is the guy they hired to replace him at Penn State.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_06]: Their home to Southern Cal, their at Michigan, your thoughts on the Netany Lions.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be competitive this year as well, Bruce Matt Campbell as good as they come here as well.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's not made a backwards step anytime he's been.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: a college hope all head coach.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he'll do it here with Penn State either a top 14 inside the Big 10 conference.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_06]: Illinois with Brett Belemann.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_06]: He's going to a good job with the Alinai.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: than a terrific job.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: Under the radar type job at the Alina here, and he's all geeked up for about his football program here this year too.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_02]: He really likes what he's got.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're going to see something special from Illinois this year.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: I've got them number five in the big ten this year.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_06]: And I have to, of course, Iowa with Kurt Farron's, they're always going to have a real good defense.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_06]: They're going to win their share of games and play in a bowl.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_06]: Southern Cal is, is the really interesting story to watch this year in the big ten.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_06]: It's Lincoln Riley under the gun, is he on the hot seat this season?
- 39:21[SPEAKER_06]: They've got a tough schedule too.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_06]: They're home to Oregon, at Penn State, home to Ohio State, at Indiana.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_06]: I know they're very talented and they've recruited well your thoughts.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce, you know what condition that Lincoln Riley is in when they take his his license to the jets, the jet airplane that they give him as part of his package at Southern Cal, his private jet that he flies around in.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: They don't win this year.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be going coach, flying from here at this point, going forward there.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: He has to play some defense Bruce.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: You can't win football games with offense.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's only become apparent.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: He did a good job recruiting and also,
- 40:01[SPEAKER_06]: uh... in the n i l bringing some defensive replacements in but he has got to prove it link in riley a lot of a lot of huff there but no puff from link in riley all right let's go to the independent no-terdam under Marcus Freeman what a tremendous job he's done in your publication you have them as the number two team in the country uh... they uh... you know
- 40:23[SPEAKER_06]: And here was my thing last year with them not getting into the playoff's mark.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_06]: Everybody in our colleagues in the media was saying, oh, well, Miami deserves how can Notre Dame cry?
- 40:34[SPEAKER_06]: Miami deserves it over Notre.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_06]: I never said that, of course, they deserved it over Notre Dame.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_06]: They beat Notre Dame.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_06]: My gripe was Alabama.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_06]: Alabama had three losses.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_06]: And there's no way that they should have been in instead of Notre Dame.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_06]: And I was so glad that Indiana annihilated Alabama to prove it.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that was a great, great observation on your purpose.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's my belief in this, what is now the small 12 game college football class?
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: No three laws team deserves to be in there.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care if it's Ohio State.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care if it's Indiana, no three laws team deserves to be in the playoffs at this stage in time of the season here.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was great that it happened last year.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I do have no term as the number two team in all of college football this year.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: Based largely on the fact that the number one team,
- 41:20[SPEAKER_06]: in all of college football this year in returning production and that's a big big stat that's really done well for all teams at lead college football in returning production that will be the fact at the state the case here for note your day in this year and you know there's schedule is very winnable they're at BYU BYU's real good team this year and they're home to Miami so we'll keep an eye on the ice all right let's go to the south eastern conference and wow
- 41:48[SPEAKER_06]: Before we start analyzing these teams, Mark, what did you think of Sanky saying that they're going to break away from the NCAA?
- 41:56[SPEAKER_06]: Was that just posturing?
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was exactly, right?
- 42:00[SPEAKER_02]: You nailed it right on the head, Bruce Postering, just to get what he wants, or at least get a little bit more of what it is that they want in the Southeast conference here.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_02]: They're obviously right toe and toe head to head with Ohio State as a fire's
- 42:12[SPEAKER_02]: The power conference is the two best power conferences here.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_02]: But they've taken a back seat, though, how long has it been since the team from the Southeast Conference has won the national championship?
- 42:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's all been big 10 here, I've played.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_06]: Alabama, what to board?
- 42:29[SPEAKER_06]: They played Georgia at Tennessee, home to A&M, at LSU, Crimson Tide, you're take.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's the only coach that I know Bruce that wins 10 games and then they want them out of there.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_02]: Earl Bruce and his days at Ohio State.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: The poor guy all he did was win nine and ten games every year.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: And they wanted the fire him every year.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: Eventually, they eventually got their way.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: But the more is a real good head coach.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: And because he is and because he recruits as well, his he does, they'll be a factor inside this competition.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: If they win it, it will be a surprise.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, if they finish fourth, it will be a surprise.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's a really tough deep conference.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: And Alabama is one of those teams this year.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Kirby, smart and Georgia, the team to beat.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, the term to be Kirby Smart is as good as they come Bruce, he's proved it for his tenure with a judgeable dogs before all this NIL and transfer portal crap happened here.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: he was the number one team in all recruiting high school athletes before Nick Sabin took it to the sidelines, obviously, and he still continues to be that way.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think Georgia's going to be in the SEC championship game.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_06]: And they get Oklahoma at home and they play at Alabama this year, so that'll be a very interesting.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_06]: But maybe the most interesting story of Wallace Lane Kiffin Bolting, Old Missus he did to go to LSU, and what really upset me intensely,
- 43:49[SPEAKER_06]: was that he was making big bonus money mark on old Mrs. victories in the playoff's based on his contract structure.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_06]: He goes to LSU.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_06]: He takes the big money.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_06]: I'm sure they gave him a private jet like Lincoln Riley.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_06]: But boy their schedule is brutal home to Clemson at Mississippi and more that be a game to watch Home to A&M home to Alabama Texas at at Tennessee.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_06]: Wow.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_06]: That is a brutal schedule.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_06]: I hope he loses all of them
- 44:25[SPEAKER_02]: I would love that too, Bruce, he won't, but I would love that too.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's not like, well, at all, anywhere, press, in the months of college and everything.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody wants to see him go down this football season here.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I wouldn't be surprised if they really struggled this football season.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be the most targeted team in all of college football this year.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: They got a lot of money.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: They spend.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: They brought a lot of athletes in.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: But I think Lane Kiffin will get in his own way this year, and I think LSU will struggle fourth place in the SEC, and not make the college football playoffs.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_06]: You've got the Texas Longhorns ranked number three in the country, sarcation and company with manning.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_06]: Will he live up to expectations?
- 45:00[SPEAKER_06]: And eventually become the quarterback of the Browns, let's see, but you're taking the horns.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, if eventually it becomes a quarterback of the Browns, it means the Browns have a bad year this football season.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I hope not that way.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_02]: But the bottom line is we're going to see tremendous improvement from him this football season here it's in the genes rose it's in the DNA he's good we all know that we're going to see a breakout season here from our humanity here.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: I've got Ohio State playing Texas for the National Championship because the top two teams and college football that spend the most money this football season.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_06]: Let me ask you about some other teams in the SEC.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_06]: Ole Miss made such a great run last year, and especially with the way Lane Kiffin departed, they really played so well in the playoffs, they're going to be good again this year with that quarterback coming back.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: for sure they're going to be good.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they're going to rally around their coach two is assistant coach who stepped up when Lane Kiff and left, and they perform really, really well in the postseason here as well.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: Golding, I think there's going to be a surprise team inside this conference here.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe the third best team in the conference.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: I know Vegas loves this football program here.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's largely because of Chandler's the quarterback.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_06]: And A&M has Marcel Reed coming back.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_06]: They've got a tough schedule, though.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_06]: They're at LSU, at Alabama, at Oklahoma, and at Texas.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: Does it surprise you, any at all, Bruce, that A&M is the third largest team spending money in college football this year.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of money in the state of Texas, and they show it out there at Texas A&M as well.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: They'll be a real good football team.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_06]: How about Florida?
- 46:30[SPEAKER_06]: Nobody's talking about Florida, and of course, they want to get back in the limelight.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_06]: They're not amongst the elite the last few years.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_06]: That's for sure in that conference.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm going to tell you who's going to talk about floor this year.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's me.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: I really, really like their chances this year.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I really, really like them because of John some role their head coach.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: He was a head coach at two group of six programs here.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: He took those programs off.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_02]: Those programs and those four years, they were losers.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: Each of the two years before he went there and they went to their championship game all four times.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_02]: This guy can coach Bruce and we're gonna find that out this particular season.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think Florida is the surprise team and all of college will publish it.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_06]: Interesting.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_06]: I have to ask before we move on from the SEC, I have to ask your opinion about Tennessee.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_06]: Volunteers kind of in the same category as Florida hasn't been the elite of the SEC, but a good football program.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_02]: a good program Bruce.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not in love with the program.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't can't shoot sling in arrows at them either.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be, I think, maybe the fourth or fifth best team inside the Southeast Conference.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: Always dangerous, always capable, but never just quite enough for Tennessee.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_06]: Let's go to the ACC.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_06]: We're Miami under Mario Krista Ball, and I know you're not the greatest fan of him.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_06]: But they obviously achieved tremendous accolades for what
- 47:50[SPEAKER_06]: And it was a great championship game against Indiana.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_06]: They gave the Hoosiers and Signetti all they wanted.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_06]: The rat Clemson, the rat Notre Dame, but they've got a very winnable schedule this year, Mark.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_02]: They do, Bruce, they're gonna be awfully tough to beat inside that ACC this year.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: And they're also bringing in players below a lot of money being spent at the U for football players.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_02]: They're not gonna take a big step backwards here.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're gonna make the console ball play off this year, like they did last.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: but they're the best team by far in the ACC.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_06]: Really, you don't see them making it, huh?
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's so competitive and so I'm sorry, Bruce.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_02]: I meant the cost for both playoff championship games.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_06]: Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_06]: Correct, thank you.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_06]: Gotcha, okay.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_06]: Clemson with Dabo's Sweeney.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_06]: Now, there's another boy, he had that run where every single year he was winning the national championship or vying for it.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_06]: Are those days gone?
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: they are gone and I think devil swine is going to be gone here too if he doesn't end up doing something real quick real fast at Clemson here I think they're getting tired of the act at Clemson here uh... promises but don't doesn't deliver on those promises a huge year for Clemson and devil swine in this football season.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_02]: Let's see what he does.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_06]: How about Virginia Tech with Franklin?
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm not a big Franklin guy, but I think he's going to do a masterful job with this program here, right?
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's really, really a good marriage between these two teams.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I won't be surprised if he ends up playing in that ACC championship game here this year.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of talent there in Franklin knows how to win football game.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_02]: He can't beat the good guys, but he'll stop all the little guys.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_06]: How about SMU?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_02]: SMU always a good football team here approach.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: Probably I think eight or nine wins this football season.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're going to end up being.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_06]: uh... anything anything close to the college with all play i didn't understand why bellachect took the North Carolina job in the first place but he goes for an eight i mean come on what are they gonna do this year under him well they made a move that they i think they felt they had to make it was a god awful higher
- 49:46[SPEAKER_02]: Bobby Petrino, probably the worst personality, uh, despicable coach and then college football can possibly be, but they brought him in here because he's an offensive guru.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_02]: Every program that he's been at, the first year that he's been in all those programs that he's been, they improve their offensive dramatically each and every year.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's a ball of checks once out of Petrino this year to boost up this offense, but at best Bruce had best, they're going to be a 500 football pro.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_06]: Let's go to the big 12, where BYU's a good team, they've got Notre Dame on their schedule and they were, they made their presence known last year in this conference.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're going to be a real good football team.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, I think they'll be in the big 12 championship game here again this year.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: That was a nice fit for them to go into the big 12 conference.
- 50:31[SPEAKER_02]: So geographically, it was a good fit.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_02]: Talent wise, it's a good fit.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I think they're going to also end up being again back in that big 12 championship game against Texas Tech.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: Against Texas Tech.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, a lot of money being spent there that owner.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Bruce, he prints money.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I told you the story last year was in Vegas and signing up for the contest there on the kid behind me Was the quarterback a Texas tech four years before and he's telling me look out for the red raiders this year Our our booster our backer is spending money like he's printing it and he was right He was right, but the problem is the source be incident that happened with Texas tech was a black eye for that football I a lot of talent here and I think going to be almost as good as everybody projects them to be
- 51:15[SPEAKER_06]: and Houston figures to be good too sneaky good here Bruce I'm a big big Willie Fritz fan he does an admirable job each and every year he'll have this up all team competitive I think it's fourth place inside the big 12 cop at last leap mark nine power five teams that are long shots like James Madison and two lane from a year ago anybody to watch out for
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: I looked long and hard, Bruce, and I can't find anybody.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: I fell in love with this far as the group of six programs go.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: This football season here, you know, a couple of merged into what is now the PAC-12 conference, all the PAC-12 is not a power for conference.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I think they're going to probably come somewhere out of the PAC-12 if for no other reason, there's teams inside that PAC-12 that have been there and done that before.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: Who it's going to be?
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to tell you,
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but I don't think anybody's fearful of anybody coming out of the group of six in the college.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: And what's your take on that?
- 52:10[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, that made me sick to see those two schools get in there over a Notre Dame and some of the other worthy opponents that could have been in and would have definitely defeated soundly, a James Madison or Tulane, is an expansion of the playoff system?
- 52:28[SPEAKER_06]: I mean, what do they do with this situation?
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was criminal Bruce for that to happen last football season here and like Notre Dame or not, they should have been in that concept while playoff and ahead of two lane, I would say, he hasn't shoulders easily ahead of two lane and I'm not I'm not a big proponent of that and none whatsoever, I think it was a mistake that happened last year and I don't believe we're going to see a tap on this year.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think they learned from their mistake.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_06]: You think they're going to expand?
- 52:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think they'll expand eventually here.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's coaches that are proponents and some that are oponents, but I think we're gonna see inside of two years at 2014 College of Opal Playout.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_06]: Will you like that, do you think?
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know Bruce, you know, I think the whole lot more competitive than this side of the 16 teams.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_02]: We have now, if you open up to 2014,
- 53:14[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about adding two or three other group of six teams into the mix right and I don't think there's just a vacation for that.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_06]: I really truly don't let me show the publication one more time.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is the playbook playbook sports dot com is your website mark how do they get the publication one more time partner real easy Bruce log on to the website at playbook sports dot com you'll see it on the front pages click on the box or visit the Barnes and Noble stores in your area they should have them in stock as well.

- 53:45[SPEAKER_02]: They all look forward to it, Bruce.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: Be well stay safe and hit him straight.

- 56:17[SPEAKER_06]: for 69, 92, 41, breakfast for persons scramble and I'll be hitting a dry for every team from the tenth hole.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_06]: It's a par five and the I'll be hitting from the up T's.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_06]: That's a substantial difference from where everybody else will be hitting.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_06]: So if you don't get a needle on that hole, it's your fault.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_06]: There'll be a putting contest and also proximities, a skins game, raffles, big steak dinner, and nobody does it better than bunker hill, putting on outings.

- 57:06[SPEAKER_06]: It's not too late to join us.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_06]: This coming Saturday, hope to see you.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I thanks to Mark Lawrence, Pat, you're taken all that encyclopedia type stuff we got from Mark.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_04]: Man, that guy is just something else.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_04]: He knows everything you could need to know about college football NFL, as well.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_04]: I thought, you know, we spent it in the break here.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_04]: I never,
- 57:26[SPEAKER_04]: coaches never love to see their team at number one in the overall preseason poll.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_04]: So Ohio State taking on Texas, I think we're going to get a pretty quick answer in the week two matchup, obviously.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: So that one's the first one to watch, but I really do like that Mark had Ohio State in Texas with another rematch.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's we've seen teams like this where the one and two and you know, top five teams in the preseason polls, they're kind of destined for that college football championship playoff.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_04]: It seems like
- 57:50[SPEAKER_04]: where they're just kind of destined to meet up in that championship.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_04]: And I wouldn't be surprised if the buck guys in Texas meet up later in the College Football Playoff.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_06]: I was glad you agreed with me about Lane Kiffin.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, of course.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, Bruce.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_06]: All right.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_06]: The Guardians won a ball game last night.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_06]: How about that?
- 58:04[SPEAKER_06]: Six to four.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_06]: They'll be playing the rubber match here in a short period of time to determine the series winner.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_06]: Adele with his 18th homer in the fifth inning, Martinez with two doubles in the game.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_06]: Honeau with a double, the lottery with a double Griffin with the five innings of three run ball.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_06]: One only gave up only one earned run.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_06]: One walk three strikeouts.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_06]: He improves his record to 13 and four.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_06]: Of course, he compiled that impressive record with Washington before we got him right before the deadline.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_06]: Our guardians are 8 and 16 since the all-star break.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_06]: Cleveland, get this.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_06]: We had a four and a half game lead in the division on May 24th.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_06]: Cleveland was nine games above the 500 mark on June 3rd.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_06]: but Jose, since returning from the injury, July 22nd is hitting only two 13, no home runs or extra basits.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously he's still being bothered by that wrist.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_06]: Second half, Cleveland is hitting under 220 with runners in scoring position.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_06]: The bullpen.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_06]: ERA has climbed from a 4.00 ERA in the last 22 games of the first staff to a 5.13 in the first 22 games of the second half.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_06]: 45 walks since the all-star break.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_06]: That's a 61% increase going into last night's game.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_06]: And Cade Smith, eight wins in eight or eight walks in eight innings of work, since the break and get us seven in seven and a third.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_06]: Obviously, concern, especially clutch hitting, and I'll tell you something else, Pat.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_06]: They haven't played good defense.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Bruce, the thing about the Guardians do is that, you know, they've got that guard's ball moniker where you're able to get to do those small things correctly.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_04]: It doesn't really seem like that has been their calling card this season, which is a little bit might be a bit more of a statement on Steven vote if you actually kind of think about it, um, the hitting coaches well too, like bunning with, you know,
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_04]: Later, later situations Bruce, I don't know where you stand on the bunting thing, but they haven't been able to do it well, and the defense has really been pissed for, to be honest with you.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_04]: I think getting rid of Gabriel Iris is going to help you defensively.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_04]: I know he's got a cannon for an arm, then he went over to the match, obviously.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_04]: But I think on Hell, now in Travis, Pazana, at second base, kind of trading off a little bit more than you might like as rookies there.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to get some errors in the infield, you had Bryan Rochio, Boot 1, and lose that match game in the last homestand.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_04]: So if the Guardians don't get their defense cleaned up, it's not really the Guardians team that you've been thinking of from yours past.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, you know, I'm extremely high on this team in the next few years to come because of the wealth of young talent that we now have.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_06]: In their first or second year to have this many rookies and second year players and depending on them in such a large way, especially with Ramirez, nursing the soar wrist, it's tough to think that they will be able to overcome Chicago.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_06]: And I've told you all season that I haven't been a believer in the white socks, but after the series we just played with them,
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_06]: They had a swagger that about them that showed confidence.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_06]: And you know what?
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_06]: They don't know any better, which is scary.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_06]: So right now, they obviously own the three-and-a-half-game lead over both Minnesota and Detroit.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_06]: We're four games out as far as the wildcard, Minnesota, and the tigers are a half-game back and we're one game out at 59 and 62.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_06]: still far from eliminated or, you know, doomsday.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_06]: But indeed, time to really be concerned, we're in the middle of August.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_06]: Friday, we open up a series at home against San Diego for three, then Tuesday home.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_06]: for three with San Francisco.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_06]: Hopefully, we can make up some ground that giants are having an atrocious year.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_06]: Then the 21st of this month, we're at Colorado for three at the LA Angels for three, and we conclude the month of August with three back here at home against Lilly Kansas City.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_06]: You're take pat before we go to break.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Bruce, you're spot on with that white sox team because they don't necessarily need to have all you got to have his swagger right now in the AL central because you know you don't even have to be a believer someone's going to win this by default at this point it kind of feels like right so the guardians back below 500 they're not playing good baseball the Detroit Tigers they've got a little bit of swagger as well, but
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_04]: At a certain point, somebody has to win this thing by default.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_04]: You can't have a no win division leader, obviously, at the end of the season, but I think the Guardians can turn it around a little bit.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_04]: I've got a little bit more faith than people in this town might have.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_04]: I think that might be a little bit of brown stuff seeping into the Guardians as well.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_04]: We see that every single year in August, I know you know that well, Bruce, but honestly, I do think the Guardians can turn it around a little bit.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just not sure they'll be able to vault themselves over four games back in the Ailes Central.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_06]: My comments.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_06]: The WNBA next!

- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_06]: The WNBA is a joke.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_06]: This latest incident with Dijane Carrington and this incredibly obvious, flagrant act on Sophie coming him and the audacity of her to go on social media and proclaim white privilege.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_06]: Are you kidding me?
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_06]: She also posted 823 with a smiley face emoji, which is the next time that her team plays Indiana.
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_06]: Her quote, get this.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_06]: I never claimed that the assessment of the file was while it was white privilege.
- 1:06:51[SPEAKER_06]: what are you talking about, how can you lie like that?
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_06]: That was, now, then she said, that was your assumption, pointing at the media audacious.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_06]: The exercising, your exercising, critical thinking skills, try doing that.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_06]: She's representing the remaining, the media.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_06]: I know you studied psych, I'm the last thing from ignorant or assonine when it comes to speaking on white privilege, do your research on that one.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_06]: I actually went to school to educate myself on the this exact subject.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_06]: Now,
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_06]: to take it even a step further, the Indiana coach, this is incredible to me that this is going on in our country, in this WNBA, this farce of a league.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_06]: Stephanie White, the Indiana coach, this is the coach of Cunningham and Caitlin Clark.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_06]: After the incident in her post-game press conference, she actually said that Carrington is going to play her butt off, and nobody is going to go walking in for a layup.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_06]: She said that she did not oppose the hard foul.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_06]: What the heck was she looking at?
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_06]: And she went on to say that she didn't think Carrington intentionally went after cutting him.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_06]: That statement to me should result in her being fired.
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_06]: How could you interpret it any other way?
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_06]: We've seen the replay a thousand times for God's sakes.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_06]: You know, and then the WNBA commissioner, what a joke she is.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_06]: This can't-the-angle burnt.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_06]: You know, God bless Enes Canner and Royce White for Thursday.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_06]: And by the way, getting back to Stephanie White, the coach of Indiana.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_06]: Clark and Cunningham stood up for their coach.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_06]: They showed class what else are they gonna do?
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_06]: They have no choice but to stand up for their coach.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_06]: And if, you know, if it wasn't for Clark,
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_06]: And if wasn't for the NBA subsidizing the WNBA and if wasn't for Clark, you know, it's only because of Clark's presence that keeps it somewhat afloat, they lose money every year.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_06]: It's because of the NBA and where the so-called feminists when it comes to this topic.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_06]: uh... inclusion they're all about inclusion they say uh... white was just a fire bleed uh... this is the coach of indieno justifiably booed by the home fans uh... and you know it shouldn't she realize she's coaching indiana not california or new york uh... everybody wants to divide us and our league she says everybody wants to divide us and our league you're doing it yourself looking
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_06]: Allowing trance men to play with females is the biggest hypocrisy.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_06]: So that's why I am applaud in this kind of, what are they going to do?
- 1:10:33[SPEAKER_06]: If you identify as a woman, you are eligible for the WNBA draft.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_06]: What are they going to do?
- 1:10:39[SPEAKER_06]: This is really caught them with egg on their faces.
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_06]: And you know, white changed her tune after that ridiculous statement that she didn't think it was intentional.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_06]: And she said the file was egregious, um, but I was so glad she was boot.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_06]: So,
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_06]: It does, can they, a carc and white, how can they ban them if they allow trans to get in?
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_06]: The WNBLA's collective bargaining agreement states that only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA, but the WNBA once inclusion.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_06]: Well, let's include Canter and Royce White, then.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_06]: If that's your policy, and all you have to do is identify as a woman.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_06]: I think it is a joke of a league, and it's getting worse.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_06]: I cannot believe how Clark has been targeted.
- 1:11:41[SPEAKER_06]: Now, cunningham, and somebody's going to get seriously hurt if they allow this to continue pet.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_04]: Woo, Bruce, I'll be honest with you.
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_04]: I couldn't disagree with you more on every single part of that.
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_04]: But the thing about it, the stuff thing is the WMBA is, you couldn't disagree with you.
- 1:11:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think so, Enis Cancer, and I think Royce Whiter absolutely jokes to be honest with you.
- 1:12:02[SPEAKER_04]: I think they're doing this completely disingenuously.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's a lot of, um,
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_04]: You know I think I think good minds can disagree here and I don't I don't love disagreeing with Hebrews here, but I think in his canter and and Royce White are completely disingenuous in this and they would never actually go through with it.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_04]: WMBA has a rule we have to have a year, a year's worth of I think it was a homo replacement therapy that sort of stuff where you can't just join the WMBA right now, you that's why you don't see anybody doing that right now.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's kind of a little bit of a red hearing.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's more of a statement on the media surrounding the WMBA though because you know so if you're cutting him started.
- 1:12:35[SPEAKER_04]: started this conversation I think with trans athletes seeing that across, you know, in Europe where there was a trans athlete in the French league.
- 1:12:41[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, there's a reason that that player is still in the French league and not in the WMBA.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_04]: If there was interest for the WMBA to bring in a player like that, I think they would have done it already.
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I just, I, you're never going to find me supporting Sophie Cunningham.
- 1:12:53[SPEAKER_04]: I think good minds can disagree here Bruce, but.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, man.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_04]: I think Sophie brought a lot of this stuff on herself because no one really like forced Sophie cutting him to start this and say all of the things she said.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_04]: I think the flagrant fell not called for.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_04]: I think off the floor issues can bleed onto the floor.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_04]: That's not necessarily great.
- 1:13:08[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, flagrant two, flagrant one.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_04]: You can kind of disagree with that.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_04]: But being ejected, I think obviously was probably the right call because the crowd was probably, yeah, definitely the right call because I think the crowd would have
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_04]: had a little bit more of an uproar if some more stuff happened again so be cunning him.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_04]: I know I think that game was on the road if I remember correctly for Indiana.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_04]: That's correct.
- 1:13:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so obviously the home crowd was booing cunning him and all that sort of stuff, but you know the WMBA, the hard part is like Sophie is right that you want to bring it back to basketball and make sure that the focus on your players, Sabrina, you know that's you.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously those sort of players can't let Clark at all that sort of stuff, but at a certain point I'm I think Sophie brought it on herself and I think she's doing the WMBA, WMBA huge to service
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I can't disagree with you more, because I think you really need to be educated.
- 1:13:55[SPEAKER_06]: Now, are you for transgender men competing with women?
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, I'm not, but that's not that's not the same argument there, Bruce.
- 1:14:01[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that's it.
- 1:14:02[SPEAKER_04]: It's really not.
- 1:14:03[SPEAKER_06]: I said it.
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_06]: And do you not, do you disagree that Clark has been targeted ever since the end?
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_04]: She's definitely been targeted.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_06]: So if he coming in, it's been targeted.
- 1:14:12[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, but I think there's a different reason for this because she has actually spoken.
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_06]: It's OK for the left to speak out on issues if you're a professional athlete.
- 1:14:21[SPEAKER_06]: But it's not OK if you will pose those issues.
- 1:14:23[SPEAKER_06]: Is that what you're saying?
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_04]: No, it's certainly not.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_06]: I don't think it sounds like it.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to say that I'll be happy that Ryan's back next week because I get to do some tussles with him to especially boxer and that ridiculous stance that he takes over Watson.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_06]: But Pat is obviously entitled to his opinion as ridiculously wrong as it is.
- 1:14:49[SPEAKER_06]: Pet, I love you.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_06]: Love you, too, Bruce.
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_06]: All right, that's all the time we have for this week's version of the Big Play Cleveland show here on YouTube.
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_06]: I invite you to join us next week.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_06]: We'll be back at noon.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_06]: I'm Bruce Drennan.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_06]: On behalf of Pat McGuire, until then, as always, most importantly, you remember, I love you, Ohio, and I love you, Cleveland.
