- 1:02Speaker 2: welcome to the show and the day after the election,
- 1:04Speaker 2: but if you're in Kanawha County, it's only hours after
- 1:08Speaker 2: the election, as the final statement came out around seven
- 1:11Speaker 2: this morning. That election day night, overnight early morning was
- 1:17Speaker 2: over all of that due to what's being termed a
- 1:20Speaker 2: corrupt memory stick, so the votes in effect had to
- 1:23Speaker 2: be hand counted. Now, not a lot of races at
- 1:26Speaker 2: that point were still being contested, but one that was
- 1:29Speaker 2: was the race for Kanawh Kennedy Commission between Republican Chris
- 1:32Speaker 2: Walters's Democrat Natalie Tenant. We'll get to the winter Natalie
- 1:35Speaker 2: Tenant and there momentarily, but also coming up a little
- 1:37Speaker 2: bit later on the show, former Charlestimir Danny Jones. He
- 1:40Speaker 2: he obviously wants to talk about the Trump victory. So
- 1:43Speaker 2: Danny is in astute guy in politics, but especially when
- 1:46Speaker 2: it comes to the national things. So we're going to
- 1:47Speaker 2: talk to Danny cover it up a little bit later

- 2:12Speaker 2: the person we can call the newest member of the
- 2:14Speaker 2: Kanawh County Commission.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Elect, Natalie Tenant. Good morning, Congratulations, good morning, thank you.
- 2:19Speaker 4: It hasn't really hit me yet because we were out
- 2:23Speaker 4: so late. I even had to throw in the tout
- 2:25Speaker 4: about one thirty when when the thirty one thousand absentee
- 2:30Speaker 4: ballots were being recounted to get to the seventeen hundred
- 2:35Speaker 4: that would to be added to it. Yeah, and I
- 2:40Speaker 4: just can't be let me. They probably didn't get home
- 2:44Speaker 4: till eight in the morning.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I got the final email from the
- 2:48Speaker 2: Kanawh County Commission folks at the Kanawh County I guess
- 2:51Speaker 2: is what it is at seven o'clock this morning and
- 2:54Speaker 2: then I got a text from County Commissioner Bensulango, who
- 2:58Speaker 2: was on the show yesterday, and been uh said, you
- 3:01Speaker 2: should have.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Gotten the email by now, And I was driving and
- 3:03Speaker 3: I said, yes, you.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Know I did, And.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But Ben was on his way because he has a
- 3:08Speaker 2: daytime of job when he's not a county commissioner. He
- 3:11Speaker 2: was on his way to Huntington to do depositions.
- 3:14Speaker 4: And I even said to them last night, I said,
- 3:17Speaker 4: you guys are in charge, can you just not halt
- 3:19Speaker 4: because the human factor becomes in there, and you know,
- 3:23Speaker 4: folks watching this, I watched them put up eight counting machines.
- 3:30Speaker 6: They had to. They had to.
- 3:31Speaker 4: They made that open space in the back of voter registration,
- 3:34Speaker 4: and it was really kind of a first for me
- 3:37Speaker 4: because having been I've been a pollworker before, I've been
- 3:39Speaker 4: Secretary of State before, but never been back there where
- 3:42Speaker 4: they're accounting.
- 3:43Speaker 6: And that was an open process.
- 3:45Speaker 4: It was on Facebook and the beginning part of it,
- 3:48Speaker 4: but anybody could come and watch it, and so that
- 3:51Speaker 4: took time. And imagine these poll workers and employees of
- 3:55Speaker 4: the County Clerk's office who'd been up since three or
- 3:58Speaker 4: four yes, and then having to work another day starting
- 4:03Speaker 4: it like well, you know, the news was on. Well
- 4:06Speaker 4: they started doing at about ten pm. So they started
- 4:09Speaker 4: their second day at ten pm and went clear till seven.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And as we speak, they may still be working, you know.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, that's that's kind of what. But
- 4:18Speaker 2: in the end, of course, everything's got you know, the
- 4:21Speaker 2: process got to be certified and.
- 4:22Speaker 3: The whole deal and whatever.
- 4:23Speaker 2: But any end, it looks like you are going to
- 4:25Speaker 2: be the next Canawa County Commissioner. So congratulations to you.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And it was close. It was very close. It was close,
- 4:34Speaker 2: a little a little closer than what you would have liked.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Probably a little closer than you thought.
- 4:38Speaker 3: It would be.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Yeah, a little closer than that. But I mean, think
- 4:41Speaker 6: about it.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Chris was everywhere I was, and he was offering ideas.
- 4:46Speaker 4: I saw his signs, he saw mine. And that's the
- 4:50Speaker 4: way it was was supposed to be. And people were
- 4:53Speaker 4: so relieved that we were respect full and cordial of
- 5:01Speaker 4: each other. Remember I don't I don't know if I
- 5:03Speaker 4: said it on air on Monday when we were together,
- 5:05Speaker 4: but afterward I said, hey, Chris, come on, come on over.
- 5:08Speaker 4: So he came over to our watch party with I
- 5:11Speaker 4: was with Sally Robinson, the assessor, and he came over.
- 5:16Speaker 4: I guess you know even before you know, we all
- 5:19Speaker 4: anticipate that those early votes are going to come in
- 5:21Speaker 4: and they're going to set the tone.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well he was.
- 5:24Speaker 4: He was ready to come in and set the tone.
- 5:26Speaker 4: And everybody they clapped for him when he came in
- 5:29Speaker 4: and when he left, and that's that's just the way
- 5:33Speaker 4: it should be.
- 5:34Speaker 6: And I will use some of his ideas. I'll call him, I'll.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Get some thoughts on what he thinks, because you know,
- 5:44Speaker 4: we respect each other.
- 5:45Speaker 3: And I love the fact.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Again, and I've talked about this over and over again
- 5:49Speaker 2: about how civil the campaign was and I.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Was, and you both said it would be.
- 5:53Speaker 2: But sometimes things happen, right, and sometimes other people get involved.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You know, it's not necessarily the candidates. I mean, I've
- 5:59Speaker 2: even seen instances when a candidate has released a statement saying, hey,
- 6:02Speaker 2: that was put out by a pack or something.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I had nothing to do with that. I this is
- 6:07Speaker 3: myself from that.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But even last night I texted both of you and
- 6:10Speaker 2: I said, look, I want the winner of this to
- 6:14Speaker 2: be in be on the show tomorrow morning, and and
- 6:17Speaker 2: Walter sends me a text of the two of you together,
- 6:20Speaker 2: you know last night.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So did you?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Oh you said it if you send me a text
- 6:23Speaker 3: to the two of d Okay, I'm sorry. It was
- 6:25Speaker 3: a long night for me too.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But but but even uh and I'm assuming he's congratulated.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Yeah, well he congratulated me when he came in either way.
- 6:34Speaker 4: And then he came back into voter registration. I'd been
- 6:38Speaker 4: back and forth between voter registration and he came back
- 6:41Speaker 4: and I left before he did. I said, somebody text
- 6:44Speaker 4: me and tell me if I got to get to
- 6:45Speaker 4: the radio station or not. And that was that was
- 6:48Speaker 4: the thing, because you know, I've been battling this cold
- 6:51Speaker 4: a little bit, and.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Plus all the talking probably did not good for the.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Voice either, and so I was like, just somebody tell
- 6:57Speaker 4: me if I got to go see Dave Allen.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Exactly what I said.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Oddly enough, that's what people say every day on this show,
- 7:04Speaker 2: to please tell me if I have to go see
- 7:05Speaker 2: The day abound. But Dave Allen showing five Any Lives
- 7:07Speaker 2: brought to you a part by Live Healthy West Virginia
- 7:09Speaker 2: presented by WVU Medicine, Live Healthy tactling a whole lot
- 7:12Speaker 2: of pressing health issues it's a podcast offering insights into
- 7:15Speaker 2: medical breakthroughs and preventative care featuring WVU Medicines expert physicians,
- 7:19Speaker 2: aimed at fostering healthier lifestyles in and beyond West Virginia.
- 7:21Speaker 3: A valuable resource for all.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Check it out wv metronews dot com the podcast menu,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and start your journey towards better health today. All right,
- 7:28Speaker 2: so now it's time to go to work. Yes, it's
- 7:31Speaker 2: time to go to work. And all these ideas that
- 7:33Speaker 2: you that you talked about when you and Chris were
- 7:35Speaker 2: on the show, some of the ideas that you said,
- 7:36Speaker 2: and you both of you said, I like that idea,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I may use it. Now you've got to set down
- 7:41Speaker 2: and you've got to work with two other county commissioners,
- 7:45Speaker 2: the commissioned President, Lance Wheeler and also Ben Selanga.
- 7:49Speaker 3: A little bit different for you, I.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Mean, because you know, obviously when you were Secretary of State,
- 7:53Speaker 2: you had a great group of people around you. But
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know, ultimately whoever has the office pretty much has
- 8:00Speaker 2: the ultimate decision. Yeah, you know, once the door is
- 8:02Speaker 2: closed and say okay, well to take into it, but
- 8:05Speaker 2: we're not going to do this, okay now, no matter
- 8:08Speaker 2: what it is, that you set down with. You know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: you've got to have a public vote, and you've got
- 8:12Speaker 2: to be you know, you gotta work with two other people.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Oh and I'm making and plus the Sheriff's department all
- 8:18Speaker 2: the everything that goes into that too, exactly.
- 8:20Speaker 4: All the all the other different agencies of elected officials also. Well,
- 8:24Speaker 4: my first thing today was going to be let me
- 8:27Speaker 4: call the county commissioners and just you know, talk to
- 8:30Speaker 4: them right now. I'm not going to get well, we know,
- 8:33Speaker 4: Soelango's off to work. I'm not going to give them
- 8:35Speaker 4: a call when they went home at eight. I thought
- 8:37Speaker 4: that I was like, can't you guys mean we can
- 8:39Speaker 4: all come back when we're fresh, fresh and our minds
- 8:42Speaker 4: are clear. They're like, no, we have to, we have
- 8:44Speaker 4: to be here. So I'm going to give commissioners slot Nick,
- 8:47Speaker 4: and Wheeler and and Selango a little break. Maybe maybe
- 8:50Speaker 4: later this afternoon, but certainly not first thing in the morning.
- 8:53Speaker 4: But I will call some of the the mayors and
- 8:57Speaker 4: the people that I need to talk to that that
- 8:59Speaker 4: I I didn't wasn't able to get a hold of.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I left a lot of messages, but I'm also going
- 9:04Speaker 4: to call I'm going to call.
- 9:07Speaker 6: Patrick Morrissey. I'm going to call Jim Justice. I'm going
- 9:10Speaker 6: to call Shelley.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Moore Capito because she's the senior Senator now, and there
- 9:15Speaker 4: is that relationship between counties or among counties and our
- 9:19Speaker 4: federal representatives that we still need that help, and I
- 9:23Speaker 4: want them to know that I'm right here and we
- 9:27Speaker 4: can still move forward. You know. I'm hopeful that we
- 9:29Speaker 4: get some of the same funding that we've gotten over
- 9:32Speaker 4: the last four years, whether it was ARPA, whether it
- 9:35Speaker 4: was the the i r A, and that money to
- 9:38Speaker 4: continue to do the work that has been planned. So
- 9:42Speaker 4: that's why I think the federal and state elected officials also.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Let me see, I saw JB.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I'm thinking of all the Kanawha County Tristan Levitt, he
- 9:52Speaker 4: and I see each other all the time. I'm trying
- 9:56Speaker 4: to think of the new the new delegates I saw
- 9:58Speaker 4: J JB.
- 10:01Speaker 6: Who else everybody else is pretty much.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dan and Ferrer run unopposed.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Uh Dean Jeffries ran unopposed. So you'll be working with
- 10:10Speaker 2: with with a lot of those with those people because
- 10:13Speaker 2: being in being in I mean, all of the county
- 10:15Speaker 2: commissions around the state keep an eye on Charleston. But
- 10:18Speaker 2: especially when you're in Charleston, you know you're gonna find
- 10:20Speaker 2: yourself there and lobby lobbying so to speak, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: there to try to get things for the state's largest
- 10:25Speaker 2: county and the seat of government. I want to give
- 10:28Speaker 2: you an opportunity, though, Natalie, to to thank some people,
- 10:30Speaker 2: because I know you had a team around you, uh, family,
- 10:33Speaker 2: so on and so forth. So I'm gonna give you
- 10:34Speaker 2: a couple of minutes.
- 10:35Speaker 3: It's your time. If you just want to thank some people,
- 10:37Speaker 3: you go right ahead.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Well, I think first and foremost the voters who who
- 10:42Speaker 4: believed in me. I've gotten so many texts and messages.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It's like that's where that's where we need you, Natalie.
- 10:47Speaker 4: We need you to be there. But I also thank
- 10:49Speaker 4: them not just for their vote, but for their time
- 10:52Speaker 4: and confiding in me what they are concerned about. And
- 10:56Speaker 4: those are the things the next steps that I also
- 10:59Speaker 4: have to get together with those things that I pointed out,
- 11:02Speaker 4: the water, some internet.
- 11:04Speaker 6: We know what we can get on the winter Internet.
- 11:06Speaker 4: I hope that boy that we still get the one
- 11:08Speaker 4: point two billion dollars in the Bead project with expanding internet,
- 11:13Speaker 4: and so I thank the people who who saw in
- 11:17Speaker 4: me what is possible that we can do that, and
- 11:19Speaker 4: those voters, and I'll be out and about, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 4: doing doing my same things, going to dinners, going to festivals,
- 11:24Speaker 4: going to things like that, and of course the volunteers
- 11:29Speaker 4: who helped me and my family. You know, we're a
- 11:33Speaker 4: little bit different now that we're all in different places,
- 11:36Speaker 4: and you know, we FaceTime to head into election night
- 11:41Speaker 4: last night, so you know, it's always tough on the family.
- 11:47Speaker 4: And my daughter is of an age now where she
- 11:51Speaker 4: is a young journalist studying to be a young journalist.
- 11:55Speaker 4: She's at the University of Kentucky, so she's covering some
- 11:58Speaker 4: Kentucky elections over there, but she is understanding the whole
- 12:02Speaker 4: concept of all all the way around, so it can
- 12:04Speaker 4: be a little tough on her, you know, compared to
- 12:06Speaker 4: when she was eighteen months old or ten years old.
- 12:09Speaker 4: So I think my family too. I think my friends
- 12:12Speaker 4: who who came out, who gave me a hard time,
- 12:16Speaker 4: who teased me, who toughened me up. And then you know,
- 12:18Speaker 4: my siblings are north central West Virginia, but certainly received
- 12:25Speaker 4: texts from them and well wishes, and you know, it's
- 12:29Speaker 4: all of this is who I am, and I will
- 12:32Speaker 4: remain that.
- 12:34Speaker 6: I always just gut checked myself.
- 12:36Speaker 4: You know, my dad's no longer living, my mom's been
- 12:39Speaker 4: gone thirteen years, but I would always be you know,
- 12:41Speaker 4: if I make this decision, can I go back to
- 12:43Speaker 4: the farm and explain it to my dad, to my
- 12:46Speaker 4: mom and to my siblings, and it'll still be that,
- 12:49Speaker 4: but it's a little closer. It was truly different running
- 12:53Speaker 4: a county race for me as opposed to a statewide race,
- 12:56Speaker 4: because when you run a county or you want a
- 13:00Speaker 4: state wide race, you're lucky. You try to hit one
- 13:03Speaker 4: or two things in a county and go on to
- 13:04Speaker 4: the next county. When you run the county race, you're
- 13:07Speaker 4: going to everything, and you just have that intimacy a
- 13:10Speaker 4: little bit more and that understanding of each other.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And what I've found, and I'll let you go after
- 13:14Speaker 2: this I've found and this doesn't matter whe it's Canaan
- 13:16Speaker 2: County or whatever. One of my former coworkers, the news
- 13:19Speaker 2: director at a station, used to refer to it as
- 13:22Speaker 2: provincial paranoia. What happens is is basically that there's always
- 13:26Speaker 2: one area of the county, of the city, whatever the case,
- 13:29Speaker 2: that thinks that they're kind of being crapped on for
- 13:31Speaker 2: lack of about it or that they're not getting as much.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And so you're going to get a lot more of
- 13:36Speaker 2: that in Kanaan County, just like you would in Putnam
- 13:38Speaker 2: or McDow countywhere else, because that's a common thing. Something
- 13:41Speaker 2: that Danny Jones pointed out to me last night. And
- 13:43Speaker 2: Danny will be on with us a little bit later on.
- 13:44Speaker 2: You are the first female commissioner. Oh yeah, county.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's amazing. Two hundred and thirty six years,
- 13:52Speaker 4: we've never had a woman, and we've had so many
- 13:54Speaker 4: strong women come from the county, like I can think
- 13:56Speaker 4: of a Martha Walker, a Martha Whorley, even some of
- 14:00Speaker 4: our business like Virginia King or yeah, Virginia King who
- 14:04Speaker 4: owns Kenawhastone. All of these women and I don't even
- 14:08Speaker 4: know And this is where Danny's gonna have to come in.
- 14:11Speaker 6: I don't even know if they've run for this office before.
- 14:15Speaker 4: And that's that's saying a lot. But yeah, I'm the
- 14:18Speaker 4: first up there. You can go look at the pictures
- 14:20Speaker 4: on the can the County commission wall.
- 14:23Speaker 6: You see all.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Then there's going to be a new picture up there.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Natalie Tenant, we congratulate.
- 14:28Speaker 6: You, and I haven't thought about that.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I have a very uh always have a very open
- 14:31Speaker 2: relationship with the with the other county commissioners.
- 14:33Speaker 3: We learned silango no.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Generally speaking, they just say, hey, I'd like to come
- 14:36Speaker 2: on and talk about this, and don't wait for me
- 14:38Speaker 2: to reach out to you.
- 14:38Speaker 3: You reach out to me.
- 14:39Speaker 4: I will, and that's what you know, And I expect that.
- 14:42Speaker 4: I expect the hard questions too, because that's the former
- 14:45Speaker 4: reporter in me that comes out, and that's you know,
- 14:47Speaker 4: I'm going to do that too. And I even said
- 14:49Speaker 4: Leslie Rubin last night because I was trying to explain
- 14:52Speaker 4: also what was taking place, and generally we all we
- 14:55Speaker 4: all had it right in different versions, and I'm like.
- 14:58Speaker 6: I think I might need to go back on let's
- 15:00Speaker 6: and kind of explain what I just said.
- 15:02Speaker 4: But we were okay, and you know, I just I
- 15:06Speaker 4: truly worry about the folks in the County Clerk's office,
- 15:09Speaker 4: who you know, maybe getting a lot of questions today
- 15:12Speaker 4: and just need need a little peace and quiet for
- 15:15Speaker 4: a second.
- 15:16Speaker 3: All right, Well, congratulations again, now look you all right.
- 15:18Speaker 2: That is Natalie Tenant, who will be sworn in as
- 15:21Speaker 2: the new Canawa County Commissioner, first a female in the
- 15:24Speaker 2: history of the county to serve in that role. Older
- 15:26Speaker 2: adults should protect themselves against severe respiratory disease. Talk to
- 15:29Speaker 2: your doctor about flu, COVID nineteen and RSV vaccines, riskless,

- 18:23Speaker 11: Sir, Good morning, Dave wide eyed and bushy tail.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Amelia Nicely of West Virginia watch good morning. And we
- 18:31Speaker 2: also have Brad mclhanny. Brad, good morning. How are you, sir?
- 18:36Speaker 12: Oh Hi? I am here at Metro News Central in Morgantown,
- 18:40Speaker 12: and occasionally I see Happy Kircher walking by to go
- 18:43Speaker 12: get a cup of coffee.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Now, so, uh, what's the mood up there? And say everybody?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Everybody kind of looks hung over. But there was no alcohol,
- 18:53Speaker 2: I mean, at least not here anyway.
- 18:54Speaker 3: We didn't have any here. Maybe Steven had some, I
- 18:56Speaker 3: don't know.
- 18:56Speaker 11: We didn't have There was no alcohol in my Stanley.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Amelia is silent, okay, Brad, I'm gonna start with you.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Not a bad night to be a Republican in the
- 19:07Speaker 2: state of West Virginia. Last night, Brad, I'll start with you.
- 19:11Speaker 12: Yeah, you know, uh, that is one morning conversation that
- 19:14Speaker 12: Happy and I had sort of how to assess that.
- 19:18Speaker 12: His thinking was that it's you know, it's it's just
- 19:22Speaker 12: impressive Republican dominance. And I felt like his assessment of
- 19:30Speaker 12: it was that it's, uh, you know, a new reassertion
- 19:35Speaker 12: of Republican power in West Virginia. I viewed it as
- 19:40Speaker 12: more of a continuation. You know, all all of the
- 19:44Speaker 12: statewide offices were in Republican heines already, but they are
- 19:48Speaker 12: again and bye by seemingly even broader margins Republicans could
- 19:56Speaker 12: there was barely any any room to increase their super
- 20:00Speaker 12: majorities in the House and the Senate, but they seem
- 20:03Speaker 12: to have done it with you know, the numbers. They
- 20:05Speaker 12: had one more seat in the Senate, which leaves Democrats
- 20:08Speaker 12: with two, a couple seats in the House of Delegates.
- 20:12Speaker 12: So you know, we're assessing this thing on the margins, like,
- 20:17Speaker 12: are Republicans in West Virginia newly amazing or is this
- 20:21Speaker 12: continuation of the amazing track record that they've had over
- 20:25Speaker 12: the last eight, ten, twelve years.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Steven, your take on the Republican I will say victory,
- 20:32Speaker 2: that's a that's a I mean because if you look
- 20:33Speaker 2: at the bord of public works, of course we already
- 20:35Speaker 2: you know, Leonhardt didn't run for well, I mean, he
- 20:37Speaker 2: was the only one that's going to be returning to
- 20:39Speaker 2: that room. Your take on this Republican domination in West Virginia.
- 20:42Speaker 11: I'm not surprised. I mean, as reporters, we don't make
- 20:46Speaker 11: predictions publicly. I think we've all talked amongst ourselves. We're
- 20:50Speaker 11: aware to Republican voter registration advantage, We're aware do demographic
- 20:54Speaker 11: changes politically in the state over the last decade. For sure,
- 20:59Speaker 11: I'm not surprised Republicans won, you know, for for governor,
- 21:03Speaker 11: for US Senate, for congressional seats, for border public works seats.
- 21:08Speaker 11: I am a little taken back by the margins. You're
- 21:11Speaker 11: talking twenty five thirty thirty five point margins for the
- 21:14Speaker 11: most part, for everybody, it was very, very, very massive.
- 21:18Speaker 11: And as Brad talked about just there, I mean, you're
- 21:22Speaker 11: losing a Democratic seat in the state Senate, so they
- 21:25Speaker 11: go from three to two, and the thirty four member
- 21:27Speaker 11: body and of course, we haven't seen numbers that low
- 21:30Speaker 11: in appolical party since don A. Bowlie was the only
- 21:32Speaker 11: Republican in like the in the eighties. And then on
- 21:36Speaker 11: the House side, of course, you know they're dropping from
- 21:39Speaker 11: eleven to nine seats and that one hundred member body.
- 21:43Speaker 11: So I gotta tell you, I'm not surprised Republicans one.
- 21:46Speaker 11: I am a little surprised by just the margins Amelia.
- 21:50Speaker 13: I agree with what Steven and Brad said. I was
- 21:53Speaker 13: looking at the eastern Pinhandle just to like dig into
- 21:55Speaker 13: those numbers a little bit. That was an area of
- 21:57Speaker 13: the state that has you know, more republic book and
- 22:00Speaker 13: registrations and Democrats, but has a growing number of independent
- 22:03Speaker 13: registrations and has a changing population, a younger population, people
- 22:07Speaker 13: leaving DC wanting to live in West Virginian Commune into
- 22:10Speaker 13: the city. And still Republicans won every race there in
- 22:14Speaker 13: the House and the Senate. I think one of the
- 22:16Speaker 13: closest ones was still a thousand votes apart. I mean,
- 22:20Speaker 13: they really weren't close races. I thought that was really interesting,
- 22:24Speaker 13: cause that was one part of the state of thought, Oh,
- 22:25Speaker 13: we might see a couple of dem pickups here, but
- 22:28Speaker 13: it's still very red.
- 22:29Speaker 3: It didn't happen. Jim Justice and baby dog are on
- 22:32Speaker 3: their way to Washington. The U Hall.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I was going to say the U Haul's bulled up
- 22:36Speaker 2: the governor's mansion, but probably not. So they're headed to Washington. Brad,
- 22:41Speaker 2: your take on Jim Justice US Senator.
- 22:44Speaker 12: Man It is going to be an adventure. And you know,
- 22:47Speaker 12: again last night he told his audience at the Greenbrier,
- 22:50Speaker 12: his supporters that no one in the right mind would
- 22:54Speaker 12: want to go to Washington, d C. But he said
- 22:56Speaker 12: he is willing to do it because he believes the
- 22:59Speaker 12: voter have asked him to. He believes West Virginians will
- 23:03Speaker 12: benefit from a Republican majority in the Senate that he
- 23:06Speaker 12: is clearly contributing to by virtue of winning that seat
- 23:10Speaker 12: that had been held by a former Democrat and now independent,
- 23:14Speaker 12: Joe Manchin. But how he You know, he has been
- 23:18Speaker 12: one of a kind as governor, and I think he
- 23:22Speaker 12: will continue to be one of a kind as senator.
- 23:25Speaker 12: You know, all these questions remain, how will he treat
- 23:28Speaker 12: his dog? How will he physically get around the Capitol,
- 23:33Speaker 12: And you know it's a big place. He doesn't move
- 23:36Speaker 12: about easily. He tends to sit when he makes presentations,
- 23:40Speaker 12: and what is his commitment to being there when he
- 23:43Speaker 12: needs to be. And I don't think I'm surprising you,
- 23:46Speaker 12: guys when I just quietly whisper that there are questions
- 23:50Speaker 12: about whether Jim Justice will serve out a full term.
- 23:53Speaker 12: He says he will.
- 23:54Speaker 2: He says he will, but I mean, I think a
- 23:56Speaker 2: lot of us do have questions about that. I just
- 23:57Speaker 2: said this whole idea when Patrick urse he will get
- 24:00Speaker 2: the him momentarily, guys, Patrick morris he goes over to
- 24:02Speaker 2: the governor's mansion. I mean, I don't know if anybody's
- 24:05Speaker 2: been in the governor's mansion a while. I picture the furniture.
- 24:07Speaker 2: There's bed sheets on it, you know, kind of like
- 24:09Speaker 2: your grandma's house. Possibly all the milk in the fridge
- 24:12Speaker 2: has expired because nobody's been there in the last several years.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Patrick Morrissey as the governor Amelia.
- 24:19Speaker 13: Yes, he easily won that.
- 24:21Speaker 14: Last night.
- 24:21Speaker 13: I mean Pol's closed at seven thirty and I think
- 24:23Speaker 13: my phone buzzed at seven thirty one.
- 24:25Speaker 6: That the ap he.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Started giving his speech at four yesterday.
- 24:29Speaker 13: Yeah, so he easily won that one. In his acceptance speech,
- 24:34Speaker 13: he talked a lot of the same points that he
- 24:36Speaker 13: has on campaigning. He's really committed to auditing a lot.
- 24:40Speaker 13: He loves He loves a good audit. So he wants
- 24:42Speaker 13: to look at where he can save money potentially give
- 24:44Speaker 13: money back to taxpayers in the form of a tax
- 24:46Speaker 13: cutter in those savings that he finds by auditing. And
- 24:49Speaker 13: he also of course talked about, I think, going against
- 24:53Speaker 13: any federal overreach when it comes to energy. He really
- 24:55Speaker 13: wants to bring energy jobs back to West Virginia. And
- 24:59Speaker 13: he talked about expand school choice, which is something he's
- 25:01Speaker 13: really passionate about. Yes, I think there really weren't any
- 25:05Speaker 13: surprises necessarily in that speech, but he was excited to
- 25:09Speaker 13: say he is the first governor from Jefferson County. It's
- 25:12Speaker 13: proud to be from the Eastern Pinhandle, and really stress
- 25:14Speaker 13: that that's important to him to not only represent the
- 25:17Speaker 13: Eastern Panhandle, but all fifty five counties.
- 25:19Speaker 2: There's always a little something that comes in. I remember,
- 25:21Speaker 2: you know, being a southern West Virginian gay whiner. El
- 25:23Speaker 2: Ray Tomlin was there and he was always real big
- 25:25Speaker 2: on the southern West Virginia. That's just and that's just
- 25:27Speaker 2: a part of it. One thing I wonder about Steven.
- 25:30Speaker 2: You fought you, all three of you follow all these
- 25:32Speaker 2: folks closely. You know one thing, Patrick Morrish, he's kind
- 25:35Speaker 2: of known as a bulldog. He is a very head
- 25:37Speaker 2: strong and it's not a bad thing in the world
- 25:39Speaker 2: of politics, but when he gets in there with some
- 25:41Speaker 2: of these larger personalities in the legislature, Let's say a
- 25:45Speaker 2: Senator Eric Tarr for example, also very similar, you know, bulldog.
- 25:50Speaker 2: You know, not saying that they don't compromise. I don't
- 25:52Speaker 2: mean that, but I'm just saying it has some pretty
- 25:54Speaker 2: strong ideas. Eric would tell you that about about West Virginia.
- 25:57Speaker 2: How do you see Steve in that relationship working?
- 26:00Speaker 11: Such a good question. It really is one of those
- 26:03Speaker 11: things where, like you said, Morris, he's a hard charging guy.
- 26:05Speaker 11: He's a bulldog, and over the years he has rubbed
- 26:09Speaker 11: some Republican lawmakers the wrong way. You always hear about it,
- 26:12Speaker 11: particularly after a primary, because sometimes some bridges are burned
- 26:16Speaker 11: or he goes a little bit too hard. And his
- 26:19Speaker 11: relationship sometimes with the Republican legislature has been interesting. And
- 26:22Speaker 11: we're called a few years ago during the abortion prior
- 26:25Speaker 11: to the abortion special session in twenty twenty two, when
- 26:28Speaker 11: he had been ascid do and advisory opinion all behalf
- 26:32Speaker 11: of the legislature in regards to the law that was
- 26:35Speaker 11: already on the books, and instead of presenting that to
- 26:38Speaker 11: the legislature first, he went straight to the press and
- 26:40Speaker 11: that really upset House Speaker Roger Hanshaw and they had
- 26:43Speaker 11: some words about that press. So that's an example. So
- 26:47Speaker 11: I do think that there's going to probably be some
- 26:50Speaker 11: differences on how things are done. I suspect we'll see
- 26:53Speaker 11: a lot that worked out behind the scenes, and maybe
- 26:55Speaker 11: it won't bleed over into our review, but it's something
- 26:58Speaker 11: we're going to be watching because the dynamics are very interesting.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Let me read a text here and I'll get all
- 27:02Speaker 3: your guys opinion on this.
- 27:03Speaker 2: We got to text this show, so, Dave, if Democrats
- 27:04Speaker 2: are upset with the presidential election outcome, they have two
- 27:08Speaker 2: groups of people to blame. Number one, their own party
- 27:10Speaker 2: elites who covered up Biden's mental problems for over a
- 27:13Speaker 2: year at installed Harris, and their own party state delegates
- 27:17Speaker 2: to the Democratic National Convention who went cultishly along with
- 27:20Speaker 2: stealing Democratic voters choices. If a true or even limited
- 27:24Speaker 2: Democratic primary had happened, they would have roundly defeated Donald Trump. Amelia,
- 27:29Speaker 2: you want to take the first shot of that one.
- 27:32Speaker 11: Not really though, Well, I mean that's a little hard
- 27:37Speaker 11: to say, I think, because I mean, you look at
- 27:39Speaker 11: and I've only ProMED my mind has been so focused
- 27:42Speaker 11: on the state legislative races, state board public works races.
- 27:46Speaker 11: I'm sort of a spectator to what's going on with
- 27:49Speaker 11: the presidential race at this point. But I do kind
- 27:51Speaker 11: of see looking at some of the dumbers and some
- 27:54Speaker 11: of the analysis from the national outlets that I think
- 27:57Speaker 11: Trump actually outperformed Biden in places that Biden actually did
- 28:04Speaker 11: better in twenty twenty. So whether you have Kamala Harris
- 28:08Speaker 11: at the top of the ticket, whether you have Biden
- 28:10Speaker 11: at the top of a ticket, or whether they would have
- 28:12Speaker 11: done an actual contested convention and find somebody else, I
- 28:17Speaker 11: don't know that it would have changed that much. So,
- 28:20Speaker 11: I mean it's easy to say that, but I don't
- 28:22Speaker 11: think that's you can't really say that based on the evidence.
- 28:25Speaker 13: I think that we do see that national politics have
- 28:27Speaker 13: made a difference in the outcome and the state legislative process.
- 28:30Speaker 13: I can't say that definitively, but I will Yeah, but
- 28:33Speaker 13: I think you know, we sit there and we cover
- 28:34Speaker 13: these people, you know, every day for sixty days, and
- 28:37Speaker 13: they agree more than they disagree. But you know when
- 28:40Speaker 13: people look at those those ballots and see D next
- 28:43Speaker 13: to their name and they wanted it for Trump, that.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Definitely, I think, which is why you've seen so many
- 28:48Speaker 2: longstanding Democrats who have suddenly become ours now, you know,
- 28:51Speaker 2: because of that. And again I use the example, and
- 28:53Speaker 2: I've used this time and time again. You can't run
- 28:55Speaker 2: for Wetzel County Assessor without saying that, you know, I
- 29:00Speaker 2: stand with Donald Trump.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I mean, that's just kind of kind of where we're Brad.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Let's talk about the state Democratic Party. Mike Pushkin's a
- 29:05Speaker 2: regular guest on the show. He won, by the way,
- 29:08Speaker 2: he had some competition, and he did win reelection last
- 29:11Speaker 2: night for.
- 29:12Speaker 3: His house seat.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Let's talk about the state Democratic Party. I mean, it's
- 29:15Speaker 2: a mess right now. And I don't mean that that's
- 29:16Speaker 2: not a reflection on Mike Pushkin necessarily. I'm just saying
- 29:20Speaker 2: because the state Democratic Party in West Virginia is a
- 29:23Speaker 2: mess overall, no matter.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Who the head of the party is.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Because it's like, you know, they had a couple of
- 29:27Speaker 2: wins here in Canall Valley with Kaylee Young and Hollis Lewis.
- 29:29Speaker 2: But by and large, ain't a lot of people signing
- 29:32Speaker 2: up to be a Democrat right now.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Brad.
- 29:36Speaker 13: No.
- 29:36Speaker 12: And you know, I honestly, my assessment of success for
- 29:42Speaker 12: Democrats this election probably would have been sort of holding
- 29:47Speaker 12: serve in the legislative races. That they are down one
- 29:51Speaker 12: seat now in the Senate, down to two Democrats in
- 29:55Speaker 12: the Senate, and down to nine Republicans from now to
- 29:58Speaker 12: nine Democrats from eleven in the House of Delegates. That's
- 30:02Speaker 12: pretty close to where they were down a little bit. So,
- 30:07Speaker 12: you know, have they bottomed out or is it just
- 30:10Speaker 12: you know, is this a leveling off at this point?
- 30:14Speaker 12: Democrats have a long way to come back to relevance
- 30:17Speaker 12: in West Virginia politics. Overall, that's a long journey. And
- 30:22Speaker 12: again you see another cycle of former Democrats now Republicans
- 30:29Speaker 12: successfully obtaining office. And one that comes to mind is
- 30:33Speaker 12: former Democrat Mark Hunt, who has served in the state
- 30:36Speaker 12: Senate now is going to be West Virginia's auditor. So,
- 30:42Speaker 12: you know, it seems to me the Republicans are like
- 30:45Speaker 12: the Democrats used to be, and they are stratified. They
- 30:49Speaker 12: have a group of Republicans who are sort of traditional
- 30:53Speaker 12: others who are further through the right, animated by more
- 30:59Speaker 12: social issues. And then this group of people I think
- 31:03Speaker 12: of as as pragmatists who really could be under either banner,
- 31:08Speaker 12: but they know that the electoral odds are that you're
- 31:13Speaker 12: going to be elected more likely as a Republican in
- 31:16Speaker 12: West Virginia. At this point, those people used to make
- 31:19Speaker 12: that calculation to be Democrats. Looking at you, Joe Mansion,
- 31:23Speaker 12: but you know, it's just it's a different landscape. And
- 31:27Speaker 12: if you are a moderate and you think, well, how
- 31:30Speaker 12: how is it that I'm most likely to be elected?
- 31:34Speaker 12: You sign up to be a Republican at this point.
- 31:36Speaker 2: You're exactly right before we let you go, guys, Amendment one,
- 31:40Speaker 2: it was close, a Member one was close.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Stephen still is still is.
- 31:43Speaker 11: I mean, I don't know if a canvas will change it,
- 31:45Speaker 11: but I mean we're talking fifty to fifty fifty fifty,
- 31:47Speaker 11: which I not to brag, but I did kind of
- 31:50Speaker 11: predict that. I think it would be a coin flip
- 31:52Speaker 11: on that one. So fifty to fifty, though slightly more
- 31:55Speaker 11: for it than against it. Again, whether a canvas, you know,
- 31:59Speaker 11: by County commits here soon will perhaps affect that we
- 32:04Speaker 11: will see. If not, it's going in the state constitution.
- 32:07Speaker 11: So uh, congratulations to the people that were pushing that,
- 32:13Speaker 11: because you know, getting a narrow wind is still a win.
- 32:17Speaker 11: So they were able to get it across the line.
- 32:19Speaker 3: And this was the physician assisted suicide.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I mean, it was kind of called that, you know,
- 32:23Speaker 2: something that is already illegal in West Virginia, but they
- 32:26Speaker 2: wanted just to put the exclamation point on that.
- 32:28Speaker 13: Amelia, And I will say the number one thing I
- 32:30Speaker 13: saw on Facebook yesterday on my feet were people voting
- 32:33Speaker 13: that were confused about it whether they voted against her
- 32:36Speaker 13: for it.
- 32:36Speaker 6: They were like, I.
- 32:37Speaker 13: Didn't know what to check. I was confused. I was
- 32:39Speaker 13: trying to take out my phone.
- 32:40Speaker 11: So interesting to see how the biggest complain I heard was
- 32:44Speaker 11: the wordings, So people didn't know if it was their
- 32:46Speaker 11: voting forward or against her, if they were pushing it,
- 32:49Speaker 11: you know, for physician assistants for suicide against it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Low confusion on that, right. Give me about thirty seconds
- 32:54Speaker 3: on Amendment one.
- 32:55Speaker 12: Your take, Well, you know, we don't have exit polling,
- 32:59Speaker 12: but I would love to know what people interpreted they
- 33:04Speaker 12: were voting on them their reasons for doing so, because
- 33:07Speaker 12: I think it may have been as close as it
- 33:09Speaker 12: was for the very reasons. Even in the media stated
- 33:12Speaker 12: the people just didn't know. It was kind of a
- 33:14Speaker 12: double negative. Which which way did I vote? I came
- 33:16Speaker 12: out not sure.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I got a quick text here and I got to
- 33:19Speaker 2: read this for the three of you, and you may
- 33:21Speaker 2: or may not want to do this, but a quick
- 33:22Speaker 2: text came just came in. They said, now that the
- 33:25Speaker 2: election is settled, not technically settled, but I mean it's
- 33:28Speaker 2: it's pretty much settled. Who do you think the next
- 33:30Speaker 2: Senate president will be?
- 33:32Speaker 11: Well, now that we are past this, I guarantee we
- 33:35Speaker 11: got you know, Leis, we got special sessions beginning Sunday.
- 33:38Speaker 11: They will technically go in and caucus I think, and
- 33:40Speaker 11: choose their leadership for the next legislative session, probably beginning
- 33:44Speaker 11: in December. But now I think you're going to start
- 33:47Speaker 11: to see some names really pop up, and some people.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Give us give us one.
- 33:52Speaker 11: Obviously, Eric hard the Center Finance Committee chairman, Tom Takubo,
- 33:57Speaker 11: the majority leader, is up there for sure. I've heard
- 34:00Speaker 11: other names like State Senator Mike Oliveria' you've heard that too,
- 34:03Speaker 11: Melia So I mean it's going to be a free fall,
- 34:05Speaker 11: all right, Amelia, give me a prediction.
- 34:07Speaker 13: I don't want to predict. I'm going to echo those
- 34:09Speaker 13: same three names that I had heard, Amy Grady, but
- 34:11Speaker 13: haven't heard that more recently.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's a full time job, and
- 34:15Speaker 2: Amy has committed a senator. Grady is committed to her classroom.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I don't I don't see that happening. Brad, you want
- 34:21Speaker 2: to you want to go along with the other two.
- 34:23Speaker 12: I think it is very fluid. Sometime soon, I expect
- 34:27Speaker 12: Judiciary Chairman Charlie Trump to resign to take his Supreme
- 34:30Speaker 12: Court seat. Mark Hunt may wait a little later to resign. Uh,
- 34:35Speaker 12: he may have his replacement designated by incoming Governor Morrissey.
- 34:42Speaker 12: And then you know, who knows if the Morrissey administration
- 34:46Speaker 12: may take some Senators and put them into cabinet roles.
- 34:50Speaker 12: So I don't think this is the final shape of
- 34:53Speaker 12: the Senate, and the shape is going to determine, you know,
- 34:56Speaker 12: this underlying battle for who the president is.
- 34:58Speaker 2: All right, guys, I appreciate it a long night for everybody.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Brad up in Morgantown, Amelia and Stephen in the part
- 35:03Speaker 2: of our store studios. I appreciate everybody for being here.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Thanks like guys, thank you, thank you, thanks a lot. Quick,
- 35:09Speaker 2: all right, Brad, will cut you loose while I read
- 35:11Speaker 2: a quick text here, says Dave. The fact that Mayor
- 35:13Speaker 2: Amy Goodwin bragged on your show about being in the
- 35:17Speaker 2: same college sorority as now County Commissioner Natalie Tenant proves
- 35:20Speaker 2: how selectively elitists the West virgin West Virginia Democratic Party

- 35:33Speaker 2: some common sense policies. The United States citizens are sick
- 35:36Speaker 2: and tired of a left woke agenda and proved that
- 35:38Speaker 2: last night President's Trump policies will again help America recover
- 35:42Speaker 2: from the devastating policies of the Democratic Party. Hey, candidates, the.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Election is over.

- 40:10Speaker 2: United States of America. Your takes her.
- 40:12Speaker 5: It's the largest comeback, theysed comeback in the history of
- 40:15Speaker 5: American politics. And I'll tell you a quick story. What's
- 40:20Speaker 5: this stuff you said will be flying.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Off the shelves, the brondeode And I had to look
- 40:25Speaker 2: up to see what brondo was well, because I didn't know.
- 40:28Speaker 5: When Cassie Hutchinson I read her book and she said
- 40:32Speaker 5: that when he was putting on the mask, he said,
- 40:36Speaker 5: the brondo came off on his cords and that's why
- 40:40Speaker 5: he didn't want to like to wear a mask because
- 40:43Speaker 5: the White Corps, you know, the white bands, and that's
- 40:47Speaker 5: why Trump didn't like to wear well.
- 40:48Speaker 2: There are multiple matches for Brondo, according to the Google Machine,
- 40:52Speaker 2: a fictional drink from the movie Idiocracy, a real energy drink,
- 40:57Speaker 2: and a brewery kettle sour pale wheat ale real energy drink.
- 41:01Speaker 2: It's amino acid activator. Apparently, there's a lot of different
- 41:04Speaker 2: definitions of it. So you want to You told me
- 41:08Speaker 2: last night, though they let me see it. You told
- 41:10Speaker 2: me last night. And you've kind of gone back and
- 41:12Speaker 2: forth because different information becomes available. But last night, when
- 41:15Speaker 2: you came in with me on the WCHS coverage before
- 41:18Speaker 2: we started, you said to me at about six forty
- 41:21Speaker 2: five last night, Trump's gonna win this thing.
- 41:23Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 41:23Speaker 5: And I told Hope that almost a week ago. Yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 5: And because you could tell by the moods of the campaign.
- 41:31Speaker 5: And I think that he he ended every every one
- 41:39Speaker 5: of his rallies with and all his public appearances. Are
- 41:42Speaker 5: you better off now than you were four years ago?
- 41:45Speaker 5: And the answer to that is obviously not. And Vice
- 41:50Speaker 5: President Harris never offered a solution to that or really anything.
- 41:55Speaker 5: There's just no there there. I hate now that's over.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I can say that, you know, to comment from Martha
- 42:00Speaker 2: Radditts of ABC News on the radio this morning, she said,
- 42:04Speaker 2: and they asked her for her take on it, and
- 42:06Speaker 2: she said that she felt the voters never really got
- 42:09Speaker 2: to know Kamala Harris. I don't agree with that, Danny,
- 42:12Speaker 2: and I'll tell you why, because she's been in public
- 42:14Speaker 2: life for most of her adult life in.
- 42:17Speaker 3: One way or the other.
- 42:18Speaker 2: She's been the vice president, she ran a failed campaign before.
- 42:21Speaker 2: If you didn't know Kamala Harris, that's on you now. Granted,
- 42:24Speaker 2: some of her her views have changed a little bit
- 42:27Speaker 2: when she ran for president.
- 42:28Speaker 3: That makes her worse. But yeah, I agree.
- 42:30Speaker 2: But if you say you don't know who Kamala Harris
- 42:32Speaker 2: was and voters were confused by it or whatever, I mean,
- 42:35Speaker 2: it's all out there.
- 42:36Speaker 3: You know, I don't buy.
- 42:38Speaker 2: I have a lot of respect for Martha Radditts, but
- 42:39Speaker 2: I don't agree with what she said there at all,
- 42:40Speaker 2: because it's all out there, Danny.
- 42:42Speaker 5: What and whether it's right or wrong, the whole all
- 42:46Speaker 5: those court cases called law fair, that's what the Republicans
- 42:51Speaker 5: call it. Yeah, that works in Trump's favor.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I agreed.
- 42:53Speaker 5: Now, I still got a bunch of them.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Head, I've got a.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Sentencing November twenty seventh. As a matter of fact, Well
- 43:00Speaker 2: I don't. I mean, that's what it is.
- 43:02Speaker 5: That's what the chat smith could try to put him
- 43:04Speaker 5: on in the dock in d C before he takes office.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean we got a lot of We
- 43:11Speaker 2: had a lot of stuff that's going to happen between
- 43:13Speaker 2: now and inauguration.
- 43:14Speaker 5: I mean yeah, And a lot of people got a

- 43:18Speaker 3: Who sold his people took a thumb in the eye your.
- 43:20Speaker 5: George Stephanoflis, Jonathan Carl, Martha Rabbits. You know, I'll flip
- 43:27Speaker 5: everyone watch MSNBC. I never I don't think I've ever
- 43:31Speaker 5: watched it.
- 43:31Speaker 3: I did the same thing when I went home last night.
- 43:33Speaker 5: It wasn't bad, No, it wasn't bad. And they had
- 43:35Speaker 5: a guy that was doing all the handicapping. He was
- 43:38Speaker 5: over working on desk by himself, and he.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Was really good.
- 43:41Speaker 5: He was saying why the victories were coming in like this,
- 43:44Speaker 5: and who won the county before, and how much they
- 43:47Speaker 5: wanted by and this is a good bell weather for
- 43:50Speaker 5: trun The god was really good. But I never saw
- 43:54Speaker 5: any breakdowns. Now what they would do, and they did
- 43:57Speaker 5: this on NBC and on ABC. They said, well maybe if, maybe, if, maybe,
- 44:04Speaker 5: if Grandma had been built a little differently, she'd been Grandpa,
- 44:07Speaker 5: you know. But it was it all came down to Pennsylvania.
- 44:11Speaker 2: And as you said it would last night, you said,
- 44:13Speaker 2: that's Pennsylvania. What did you post on Facebook, Danny, Pennsylvania's
- 44:16Speaker 2: the whole Enchilader, big, the big Inchilode. Yeah, and it
- 44:19Speaker 2: turned out to be out it was, And it's the
- 44:22Speaker 2: new inch Lootte. Because it used to be for Republicans
- 44:25Speaker 2: you had to carry Ohio and Florida to win the presidency.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Now it's Pennsylvania. Uh, and Trump can carry it. I'm
- 44:32Speaker 2: not sure any other Republican can. But the good news
- 44:34Speaker 2: out of Pennsylvania. Forget Trump for a minute. They are
- 44:37Speaker 2: going to send a superstar to the United States Senate
- 44:40Speaker 2: and his name is David McCormick. And you couldn't do
- 44:43Speaker 2: any better than this guy. I've been watching him for
- 44:45Speaker 2: a long time and he got beat in the primary
- 44:48Speaker 2: because Trump wanted doctor Oz last time.
- 44:51Speaker 5: But he is really good, David. Yes, and they you know,
- 44:56Speaker 5: of course, shared Brown. I think they're going to have
- 44:58Speaker 5: about fifty three fifty three Republican senators, and that may
- 45:03Speaker 5: be enough to do a majority. Because you got two
- 45:06Speaker 5: Maverick senators, one Susan Collins, and the other is the
- 45:10Speaker 5: one from Alaska, and she's worse, right, Susan Collins, you
- 45:15Speaker 5: might be able to hold in the fold.

- 47:34Speaker 2: Seven minutes away from ten Dave Allen, Danny Jones here
- 47:38Speaker 2: talking election last night. Heymy, I want to get your
- 47:41Speaker 2: your take on this. This was something that was in
- 47:42Speaker 2: the Washington Post at a friend of mine. Screenshot of
- 47:44Speaker 2: the sent to me it says House Democrats said, the
- 47:48Speaker 2: Democratic Party has a major working class voter issue. It
- 47:52Speaker 2: started a decade ago as a working class white issue.
- 47:55Speaker 2: It's now gotten even worse and spread across racial wines. Now,
- 47:59Speaker 2: I don't know who's that that didn't say, but a
- 48:01Speaker 2: off the record a House Democrats said Democratic Party has
- 48:04Speaker 2: a major working class voter issue. It started a decade
- 48:07Speaker 2: ago as a working class white issue. It's now gotten
- 48:09Speaker 2: even worse and spread across racial line.
- 48:11Speaker 5: Well Mark Penn, who's a former Clinton polster and a
- 48:14Speaker 5: Democrat talking head on Fox, he said pretty well the
- 48:17Speaker 5: same thing. He said, we have to get back to
- 48:20Speaker 5: the mainstream or middle of American politics instead of catering
- 48:24Speaker 5: to the left fringe. And of course the problem with
- 48:27Speaker 5: that is they're going to have AOC turned into Marjorie
- 48:31Speaker 5: Taylor Green if they do that. So that's a problem
- 48:35Speaker 5: for them. It's a problem for Republicans too, because you
- 48:38Speaker 5: got these people in the House, people like Marjorie Taylor Green,
- 48:42Speaker 5: Nancy May So, what's that guy from Florida with the
- 48:44Speaker 5: high forehead that gets yeah. I mean, they're interested in
- 48:48Speaker 5: their own thing.
- 48:50Speaker 3: They're interested in their own brand.
- 48:51Speaker 5: They're not interested in helping the Republican Party or helping
- 48:54Speaker 5: the country. That's my feeling.
- 48:56Speaker 2: But they aalance showing five eighty life brought to you
- 48:58Speaker 2: right by Husbands Pizza where a Hustin's large at inch
- 49:00Speaker 2: Pepperoni pizza and a Pizza Dia only twenty one ninety nine.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Textas ask Danny, when do we start rioting?
- 49:08Speaker 5: You know what, maybe it won't happen this time.
- 49:11Speaker 2: Maybe Peter when he told me that Al Sharpton spoke
- 49:13Speaker 2: on MSNBC or something and said.
- 49:14Speaker 3: There will be no riots. There will be good for him. Yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 3: because they shouldn't, because we're going to accept.
- 49:19Speaker 7: This, you know.
- 49:20Speaker 5: And I just always hope with President Trump because I'm
- 49:24Speaker 5: not a supporter, and I always hope that he'll behave
- 49:28Speaker 5: and quit punching down at people. That's his biggest that's
- 49:31Speaker 5: his biggest sin. He punches down at people. Yep. And
- 49:35Speaker 5: it's really it's hard to take and it's not fair
- 49:39Speaker 5: because he's he's the top dog, and you know, punching
- 49:42Speaker 5: down like that. Uh uh, Liz Cheney, I mean, you
- 49:45Speaker 5: don't be a sore winner. Man.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Well, I mean, look, you know, I've made my my
- 49:51Speaker 2: feelings on President Trump.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Well, known.
- 49:52Speaker 2: I was a supporter, voted for him twice, can no
- 49:55Speaker 2: longer support him. However, he is my president, and I'm
- 49:59Speaker 2: I'm kind of old school that way that Joe Biden,
- 50:02Speaker 2: whom I did not vote for, did not support, did
- 50:04Speaker 2: not support his policies, was my president. Kamala Harris, had
- 50:08Speaker 2: she been elected, would have been my president. That's kind
- 50:11Speaker 2: of the way this whole American thing works. Danny, Yeah,
- 50:14Speaker 2: it works.
- 50:14Speaker 5: Here's what I'm afraid of. They're gonna mess up his inauguration.
- 50:18Speaker 5: In other words, last time who uh the left and
- 50:21Speaker 5: the way they'll do it. Anybody that he tries to
- 50:24Speaker 5: get to perform, they'll say, you go there and we're
- 50:27Speaker 5: gonna ruin your well.
- 50:28Speaker 3: I mean you know it's gonna be Lee Green. What
- 50:29Speaker 3: it's gonna be wholek Cogan.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I mean you can pretty much go ahead and and
- 50:32Speaker 2: and and and and write it down.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Now that's who it's gonna be. Well last time, no man, I.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Mean am I and I could be wrong. I don't
- 50:38Speaker 2: think any quote unquote main and we'll all do respect
- 50:41Speaker 2: to Lee Green. What the guy's not how to hit
- 50:42Speaker 2: in thirty five forty years. I don't know that you're
- 50:47Speaker 2: gonna get a a list celebrity.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Well, I want to perform.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Last time he had Garth Brooks and they got to
- 50:52Speaker 5: him and he said, sorry, I can't do it. Andrew Richelli,
- 50:55Speaker 5: the blind opera singer, can't do it.
- 50:58Speaker 3: It used to be and things like that, they were
- 51:00Speaker 3: for everybody. It was an honor to be asked to
- 51:03Speaker 3: do that. And it wasn't an endorsement of the political candidate,
- 51:06Speaker 3: you know.
- 51:06Speaker 5: For me, it's for everybody.
- 51:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Let me read a text here.
- 51:09Speaker 2: While I voted for none of the Republicans that won,
- 51:11Speaker 2: as a text, I'm not sad they won. I think
- 51:13Speaker 2: the future In the future, many problems are going to
- 51:16Speaker 2: service based on the amount of tax cuts and moneys
- 51:18Speaker 2: needed to solve problems.
- 51:19Speaker 3: In West Virginia. The problems are many and will not
- 51:22Speaker 3: solve themselves.
- 51:23Speaker 5: Danny, Yeah, I get yeah, you're right.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Do you like the way that I mean, give me
- 51:32Speaker 2: your opinion of the way West Virginia's handed right now,
- 51:34Speaker 2: because again Patrick.
- 51:35Speaker 5: Morrison run out of money.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Patrick Morris is going to be your governor. Jim Justice,
- 51:38Speaker 2: at least for a while, is going to be in Washington.
- 51:40Speaker 13: Uh.
- 51:41Speaker 3: More seats were picked up Super duper, duper majority now.
- 51:45Speaker 5: And you think West Virginia is gonna run out of money,
- 51:47Speaker 5: I think it's gonna come to that.
- 51:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 51:49Speaker 5: I'll tell you what I think they're gonna have to do.
- 51:52Speaker 5: I think they're going to have to privatize Pei.
- 51:54Speaker 3: It's been talked about before, the way which used.
- 51:58Speaker 7: To be pe I B.
- 52:00Speaker 5: And I think they're gonna have to privatize it, put
- 52:03Speaker 5: it off onto Blue Cross or somebody like that, and
- 52:07Speaker 5: then it you know, it's gonna be h It's gonna
- 52:12Speaker 5: be tough on the employees because then the government can say, well,
- 52:15Speaker 5: look that's them. We can't make that up now, because
- 52:20Speaker 5: they control it. The government controls it, they can make
- 52:23Speaker 5: it up.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Let me throw this in here, the impact of Special
- 52:26Speaker 2: Olympics and since far beyond the athletes themselves. Well, there's
- 52:29Speaker 2: a great video the Highlights of Special Olympics. You can
- 52:32Speaker 2: check it out and it's all brought to you by
- 52:34Speaker 2: the fine folks at Huntington, tex says Dave called it
- 52:36Speaker 2: earlier this morning. Montana Senator Democrat John Tester has lost
- 52:40Speaker 2: his seat to Tim Sheehey.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Big deal, it, says the Texter, And so did Shared
- 52:46Speaker 5: Brown and boy boy, I'm gonna miss those TV cops. Oh,
- 52:51Speaker 5: Mike Rogers, I think he won in Michigan.
- 52:53Speaker 3: All right, give me the last thirty seconds here.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Danny on your take on Trump Trump winning the White House.
- 53:00Speaker 5: I think it's a big deal, biggest comeback in h
- 53:02Speaker 5: history American politics. I'm always uptimistic at times like this,
- 53:05Speaker 5: even what a guy didn't vote for. But I want
- 53:09Speaker 5: President Trump in our country to be successful.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Good way to leave it.
- 53:12Speaker 2: Former Charleston Mayor Danny Jones coming up on Talk Linteno six,
