- 0:09Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome into another edition of the check
- 0:12Speaker 1: O Daily. Andrew decheco here Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds
- 0:16Speaker 1: dot Com, Super Bowl sixty and I get that there's
- 0:19Speaker 1: not a lot of buzz surrounding this game from the outside,
- 0:22Speaker 1: but there are a lot of reasons for intrigue in
- 0:24Speaker 1: this game, and I think opinions may differ once the
- 0:27Speaker 1: game is kicked off. It could be a little bit
- 0:30Speaker 1: of a more of a closely contested game that I
- 0:32Speaker 1: think is being given credit for. A lot of folks
- 0:35Speaker 1: assume that the Seattle Seahawks are gonna run away with
- 0:38Speaker 1: this one. They very well may, but I just get
- 0:41Speaker 1: the sense that when you have two teams that are unfamiliar,
- 0:43Speaker 1: you have nerves.
- 0:44Speaker 2: That sometimes play into it.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It lends itself to maybe getting off to sort of
- 0:49Speaker 1: like a boxing match where you're trading blows early on
- 0:53Speaker 1: a lot of former Eagles in this game. So I
- 0:55Speaker 1: know that if you're looking at it and not overly
- 0:58Speaker 1: enthused with either team, you don't have any rooting interest.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You're looking forward to the commercials, well, maybe some of
- 1:04Speaker 1: those Eagles ties. And for example, there's going to be
- 1:07Speaker 1: four players in this game who are starting that were
- 1:12Speaker 1: former Eagles. On the Patriots, there's three guys Mac Collins
- 1:15Speaker 1: wide receiver. You have defensive tackle Milton Williams, and you
- 1:19Speaker 1: have linebacker Christian Ellis. Then you have on the Seattle
- 1:23Speaker 1: Seahawks side cornerback Josh Joe and they all carry different
- 1:28Speaker 1: stories of perseverance. They arrived at their respective teams in
- 1:34Speaker 1: sort of an untraditional way. I think it's fair to
- 1:36Speaker 1: say Mac Collins is on his sixth team, was a
- 1:38Speaker 1: fourth round pick of the Eagles in twenty seventeen, never
- 1:41Speaker 1: quite fit into the receiver rotation that he goes to
- 1:44Speaker 1: the Dolphins, then he spends time with the Raiders, where
- 1:46Speaker 1: he had a career high fifty seven reception six hundred
- 1:49Speaker 1: and ninety yards, and he goes to the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm forgetting a team, but there's the Patriots
- 1:57Speaker 1: that are that are there, and he sort of has
- 2:01Speaker 1: emerged as a starting receiver who's more inclined to come
- 2:04Speaker 1: up with a large reception than he is to be
- 2:08Speaker 1: a volume type of receiver. So I think that he
- 2:10Speaker 1: can catch a deep ball in this game. I'm not
- 2:12Speaker 1: saying that he'll score a touchdown. Or anything like that.
- 2:15Speaker 1: But I think that there will be a couple shot
- 2:17Speaker 1: plays to Matt Collins to really take advantage of his speed.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Christianellis is a player that was formerly an undrafted free
- 2:26Speaker 1: agent signing at the Minnesota Vikings, goes to the Eagles,
- 2:29Speaker 1: spends time on the practice squad, gets cut a bunch
- 2:32Speaker 1: of times with the forty nine ers, ends up on
- 2:34Speaker 1: the Eagles active roster. Eventually starts in that game in
- 2:38Speaker 1: twenty twenty three against the forty nine Ers. Doesn't play well.
- 2:41Speaker 1: No one played well in that game. But then he's waived.
- 2:44Speaker 1: There's about six or seven teams who put in a
- 2:46Speaker 1: claim for him. The Patriots are awarded Christianellis off of
- 2:50Speaker 1: waivers and he stabilized his career and has become a
- 2:53Speaker 1: starting player over the past two and a half season,
- 2:56Speaker 1: starting eighteen games. Believe he started thirteen games this season.
- 3:00Speaker 1: This is an explosive, dynamic, second level player who has
- 3:03Speaker 1: come up with his fair share of violent collisions. He's
- 3:06Speaker 1: someone that should have an active evening in Santa Clair,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I would imagine.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And then you have Milton.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Williams, of course, who had two sacks in the Super
- 3:16Speaker 1: Bowl for the Eagles.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Was a third round pick back in twenty twenty one.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Always had starting caliber potential, but whether or not he
- 3:23Speaker 1: was playing with Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, or what have you,
- 3:28Speaker 1: he playing time was sort of difficult to come by.
- 3:31Speaker 1: He played a career high sixty percent of the New
- 3:33Speaker 1: England Patriots defensive snaps over twelve games, three and a
- 3:37Speaker 1: half sacks in the regular season, two sacks in the postseason,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and it was never realistic that the Eagles are going
- 3:44Speaker 1: to be able to bring him back financially. It just
- 3:45Speaker 1: would not have worked out for Christian Ellis. You can
- 3:48Speaker 1: say that that was a mistake in hindsight that the
- 3:52Speaker 1: Eagles may be misread because I imagine that they wanted to
- 3:56Speaker 1: get him back on the practice squad Matt Collins. It
- 3:58Speaker 1: just never worked out here in Philadelphia, I believe in
- 4:01Speaker 1: twenty nineteen he started ten games. He played in twelve
- 4:07Speaker 1: was pretty much running Cardio getting his steps in. Didn't
- 4:11Speaker 1: find a way to get himself open and just didn't
- 4:15Speaker 1: maximize that opportunity. Was way before the twenty nineteen season.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Ended ended up with the Dolphins from there and then
- 4:21Speaker 1: stayed there for a couple of seasons, but then you
- 4:24Speaker 1: look at the Seattle Seahawks side and they have Josh Job,
- 4:27Speaker 1: who I've talked a lot about. I've gotten the no
- 4:29Speaker 1: Josh when he was here in Philadelphia. He lockered next
- 4:32Speaker 1: to Eli Rix when I would do my rookie diary,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and he's soft spoken, doesn't have a lot to say typically,
- 4:39Speaker 1: but we ended up getting into some conversations throughout that season,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and it's kind of cool to see where the path
- 4:46Speaker 1: has taken him. Because I always believe that he could play.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I didn't think that it was realistically going to happen
- 4:51Speaker 1: here in Philadelphia because he had been given opportunities, was
- 4:54Speaker 1: really handsy, got a lot of penalties, and he sort
- 4:58Speaker 1: of fell out of favor special teams demon but not
- 5:02Speaker 1: every system is going to be a fit, and sometimes
- 5:04Speaker 1: you need to change of scenery. So what I'm saying
- 5:06Speaker 1: a lot now is that the Eagles gave up on
- 5:09Speaker 1: him too quickly.
- 5:10Speaker 2: They shouldn't have done that. This and that.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I mean, I remember me writing about Josh Job and
- 5:17Speaker 1: having some intrigue about what he can bring and getting
- 5:20Speaker 1: met with a lot of pushback and a lot of
- 5:23Speaker 1: people out there that saying he couldn't play. He's terrible,
- 5:26Speaker 1: he stinks this and that, and then just seeing that
- 5:28Speaker 1: on social media, so hindsight's kind of funny to see
- 5:32Speaker 1: everybody sort of shift on that.
- 5:34Speaker 2: The Eagles gave him opportunities.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It didn't work out here, he went to a system
- 5:39Speaker 1: that fit his skill set. He spent time on their
- 5:42Speaker 1: practice squad and was ultimately he played in ten games
- 5:46Speaker 1: for them last year, signed in free agency to a
- 5:49Speaker 1: one year deal and carved out a starting role. He
- 5:52Speaker 1: sort of mixes in with Rake Woollen and then you
- 5:55Speaker 1: have Devin Witherspoon on the other side, and he's been
- 5:58Speaker 1: a really good story of development. And he's playing under
- 6:02Speaker 1: Carl Scott, who was his defensive backs coach for a
- 6:05Speaker 1: time at Alabama, so that familiarity I'm sure helps. But
- 6:09Speaker 1: he's sort of taking this opportunity and ran with it,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and I think it's I do find it humorous because
- 6:15Speaker 1: when he was in Philadelphia, there was a lot of
- 6:19Speaker 1: fans that were sort of dumping on him and casting
- 6:23Speaker 1: him aside and questioning his ability to be able to play.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And there were moments where he had uneven performances. That's
- 6:30Speaker 1: not to say that he didn't, but I believed in
- 6:33Speaker 1: the player because I saw him play at Alabama, I
- 6:36Speaker 1: saw him play in training camp, and I saw him
- 6:39Speaker 1: perform at different times in the regular season when his
- 6:42Speaker 1: number was called pretty well. And he started three games
- 6:47Speaker 1: for the Eagles in twenty twenty three and to middling results.
- 6:50Speaker 1: But now he's in a place where he's sort of
- 6:55Speaker 1: rediscovered himself, I think is a fair way to say it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And you have to give the Seattle Seahawks credit for
- 7:00Speaker 1: remaining patient and seeing it in him. But let's look
- 7:03Speaker 1: at the game itself, because this is one that you're
- 7:06Speaker 1: seeing a lot of people predict the Seattle Seahawks run
- 7:09Speaker 1: away with this one, and I say that may not
- 7:13Speaker 1: be the case because in Super Bowls it's very difficult
- 7:16Speaker 1: for that to happen. Now, obviously, if you're looking at
- 7:18Speaker 1: Super Bowl fifty nine where the Eagles got off to
- 7:20Speaker 1: a very early lead and built on that and really
- 7:24Speaker 1: put the Chiefs away early, that doesn't always happen.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Sometimes there's nerves and jitters that you have to.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Get out of the way, and it's a slow it's
- 7:34Speaker 1: a slow moving game as teams are trying to feel
- 7:36Speaker 1: it out. As I mentioned, it's like a boxing match sometimes.
- 7:40Speaker 1: But because you're not playing in the snow or anything
- 7:43Speaker 1: like that. I think Drake May is going to look
- 7:45Speaker 1: a lot better than he has this postseason. He has
- 7:48Speaker 1: not had a good postseason. The New England Patriots, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: should say, don't have a ton of star star value
- 7:56Speaker 1: there at the skilled players positions. You have Matt Collins,
- 7:59Speaker 1: you have I have Stefan Diggs, who certainly is a
- 8:02Speaker 1: household name, Kayshawn Bouti, tight end Hunter Henry, who I
- 8:06Speaker 1: think is going to be a big factor in this game,
- 8:09Speaker 1: work in the middle of the field and being that.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Safety valve for Drake May.
- 8:13Speaker 1: The Seahawks or the Patriots do like to push the
- 8:15Speaker 1: ball down the field, so I would imagine that there
- 8:18Speaker 1: will be a shot player two for Mac Hollins, who,
- 8:21Speaker 1: as I mentioned, is not a volume receiver in their offense,
- 8:24Speaker 1: but he is someone that can stretch the field and
- 8:27Speaker 1: the running game. With Ramandre Stevenson Traveon Henderson, I think
- 8:32Speaker 1: Stevenson is going to see a ton of volume in
- 8:33Speaker 1: this game, especially in short yarded situations. And then defensively, again,
- 8:39Speaker 1: not a lot of familiarity, a lot of household names,
- 8:43Speaker 1: but they fly around, they play fundamentally sound and they've
- 8:46Speaker 1: really adopted a certain personality under head coach Mike Rabel,
- 8:52Speaker 1: who I think has done a tremendous job the twenty
- 8:55Speaker 1: twenty five head Coach of the Year and rightfully so
- 8:58Speaker 1: that he's done a really good job of of sort
- 9:00Speaker 1: of putting his spin on the culture and getting everybody
- 9:05Speaker 1: to buy in. And so that's a team ordinarily should
- 9:09Speaker 1: have plenty of fanfare because there's a lot of underdogs,
- 9:14Speaker 1: a lot of really good stories.
- 9:15Speaker 2: On that team.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Unlike the Tom Brady years where they would expected to win,
- 9:20Speaker 1: this is sort of an underdog type of team.
- 9:22Speaker 2: So I would imagine that there's going to be a lot.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Of people who are watching this game who are going
- 9:27Speaker 1: to be going for the Patriots because it's sort of
- 9:29Speaker 1: a new regime. You have a young quarterback there, Mike
- 9:32Speaker 1: Grabel played for the Patriots, now he's their head coach,
- 9:36Speaker 1: and you sort of turn things around in short order,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and there's a lot of cast offs on that team,
- 9:41Speaker 1: which makes for I think, really interesting football. Then on
- 9:44Speaker 1: the Seahawks side, there may be no better story, at
- 9:48Speaker 1: least in my estimation, than the Sam Darnold career arc,
- 9:52Speaker 1: the redemption story. He has an opportunity to win a
- 9:56Speaker 1: Super Bowl in the most unlikeliest of careers, and he's
- 10:00Speaker 1: bounced around for quite a bit and now he finds
- 10:03Speaker 1: himself in position to really add to his legacy and
- 10:07Speaker 1: his resume here and complete that journey. He's won fourteen
- 10:12Speaker 1: games in back to back seasons. I think that's the
- 10:14Speaker 1: most compelling storyline in this game. You have the running
- 10:17Speaker 1: game with Kenneth Walker, who has been a huge piece
- 10:22Speaker 1: to what they do, and they lost Zax Charbonnay in
- 10:25Speaker 1: the postseason. But I think when you look at what
- 10:27Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker can bring from just a physicality standpoint, but
- 10:31Speaker 1: he also has the speed and the patience to break
- 10:34Speaker 1: it outside and pick up some runs. He finishes his
- 10:36Speaker 1: runs good contact balance. I think he's going to see
- 10:39Speaker 1: a ton of volume. I mentioned Rmandre Stevenson. I think
- 10:42Speaker 1: Kenneth Walker is going to be the same.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
- 10:47Speaker 3: to clean up their habits and that includes me, honestly,
- 10:50Speaker 3: having one less drink never felt easier. Instead of pouring
- 10:54Speaker 3: a cocktail, I just reached for souls out of office drinks.
- 10:57Speaker 3: It's the same relaxing vibe, but zero alcohol, zero hangover.
- 11:02Speaker 3: I still wake up feeling like a functional adult. I
- 11:05Speaker 3: can get to the gym, I can do whatever I
- 11:07Speaker 3: have to do throughout the day without feeling worn down
- 11:10Speaker 3: or dragged down that alcohol can make you feel.

- 13:01Speaker 4: game day is stressful enough, parking traffic, long lines, We've
- 13:05Speaker 4: all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,

- 13:13Speaker 4: sports fans just minutes outside of Philly with plenty of

- 13:52Speaker 4: Camedn Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 13:57Speaker 4: made for Philly fans.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Twenty one and up.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Aj Barner their tight end is a player that I
- 14:03Speaker 1: think will factor in in the red zone. I think
- 14:06Speaker 1: there's a world in which he comes up with a
- 14:08Speaker 1: touchdown in this game. I think Sam Darnold, much like
- 14:10Speaker 1: Drake May will be looking for the tight end in
- 14:12Speaker 1: this game. Of course, you have Jackson Smith and Jigba,
- 14:16Speaker 1: who has just been a terror this season at wide receiver.
- 14:20Speaker 1: He's really going to stress the Patriots secondary. I'm curious
- 14:24Speaker 1: to see how that matchup goes with Christian Gonzalez, their
- 14:27Speaker 1: corner who is outstanding versus JSN. That will be something
- 14:32Speaker 1: that I think will be pure theater to watch. Seattle,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I believe, will adopt more of a run heavy approach,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but they also have plenty of weapons in Cooper Cup
- 14:43Speaker 1: and Jackson Smith and Jigba and so. And then you
- 14:47Speaker 1: mix in Rashid Shaheed, who I think is going to
- 14:51Speaker 1: have an explosive big play in this game. I don't
- 14:53Speaker 1: know if it'll be on return, but I think he
- 14:55Speaker 1: will get vertical and get behind that secondary for a
- 14:58Speaker 1: big play in this one. And then on defense, this
- 15:01Speaker 1: might be the most entertaining defense that I've watched this season.
- 15:06Speaker 1: And what I mean by that is their front, their
- 15:09Speaker 1: first and second level really attack the line of scrimmage.
- 15:12Speaker 1: They get after the quarterback. Ernest Jones has bounced around
- 15:15Speaker 1: a little bit. He's their middle linebacker and he has
- 15:18Speaker 1: just been all over the field.
- 15:20Speaker 2: He's had a tremendous postseason. I like Drake.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I believe Drake Thomas, who's an undrafted player, another linebacker
- 15:28Speaker 1: on their team who finally got a chance to start
- 15:31Speaker 1: this season. After toggling between special teams and the practice squad.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And I think that that's another really good story Josh
- 15:38Speaker 1: job As I mentioned an undrafted corner who found his
- 15:41Speaker 1: place with the Seattle Seahawks and their safety play with
- 15:45Speaker 1: Julian Love, Nick Emm and Worry. They're just a really
- 15:50Speaker 1: fun team that rallies to the football and they play
- 15:53Speaker 1: with their hair on fire. They have a number of
- 15:56Speaker 1: different pass rushers there that I think are going to
- 16:00Speaker 1: early place Drake May under duress. So I believe it
- 16:02Speaker 1: Drake May will be instructed to get the ball out
- 16:05Speaker 1: of his hands quickly, which is why I think Hunter Henry,
- 16:07Speaker 1: maybe Traveon Henderson will be.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Involved in the past game early.
- 16:11Speaker 1: But this is a game that I think is going
- 16:13Speaker 1: to be a little bit it's going to, I guess,
- 16:16Speaker 1: exceed what the expectations are. And I'm gonna take the
- 16:21Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks to win this game twenty seven to twenty four.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And my MVP of the game, you guessed it, quarterback
- 16:28Speaker 1: Sam Darnold. That's the way that I'm seeing this game unfold.
- 16:31Speaker 1: That's gonna do it. For this edition of the check Odily,
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm Andrew de Checko and I'll catch you on the
- 16:36Speaker 1: next one.
