- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna do what I can to push you guys.
- 3:56Speaker 6: That's away. I appreciate it. I appreciate it. So let's
- 4:00Speaker 6: get into it, all right. I want to start with
- 4:01Speaker 6: real estate, right, because you have an interesting philosophy on
- 4:04Speaker 6: real estate. Most of the time we grow up and
- 4:07Speaker 6: most people middle class people, working class people. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 6: the home is the biggest purchase. Yeah, the biggest investment. Yeah,
- 4:15Speaker 6: thing that they you know, you work and you purchase
- 4:17Speaker 6: on your equity. You can refinance, you can pass it down.
- 4:21Speaker 6: All of this stuff you say, do not the home
- 4:25Speaker 6: that you live and you should not buy.
- 4:27Speaker 3: That's right.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Your home is not an asset, that's right. But you
- 4:30Speaker 6: have over two billion dollars in real estate, so you
- 4:33Speaker 6: believe in real estate, but you don't believe in your home.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Now, I believe a home is a place to live, right,
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's a place to live. You want food, you go
- 4:41Speaker 3: get food. You want a refrigerator, you want to keep
- 4:43Speaker 3: your food cold, and a refrigerator. You get a refrigerator.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You want a place to keep your refrigerator. Rent the house.
- 4:49Speaker 3: You could rent the refrigerator too. They let me rent food.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I would I just want to use it. I just
- 4:55Speaker 3: want to use it and move on. I don't want
- 4:58Speaker 3: to I don't want to be stuck there. Mobility the
- 5:00Speaker 3: ability to move to go places on this planet. Okay, Look,
- 5:05Speaker 3: if you look at Detroit. If you were invested in
- 5:07Speaker 3: a single family home on the wrong side of Detroit
- 5:09Speaker 3: in the last twenty years, you lost your money. Look
- 5:12Speaker 3: at hundred hundreds of millions of people in America lost
- 5:15Speaker 3: all their equity, all their money being invested in two
- 5:18Speaker 3: thousand and seven. In two thousand and eight, still people
- 5:21Speaker 3: underwater and homes. But what happens is see the banks. Okay,
- 5:25Speaker 3: this is the whole. This is why, like the system
- 5:28Speaker 3: is so corrupt. Okay, it's and I grew up with
- 5:31Speaker 3: a single mother and my dad died when I was ten,
- 5:34Speaker 3: and the house was paid for. They did the Grandpa Dave,
- 5:39Speaker 3: Grandpaul Dave, y'all know Grandpa Dave right, don't buy coffee, okay,
- 5:44Speaker 3: ride a bike to work, don't, don't use a car.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And oh, by the way, the only thing you should
- 5:51Speaker 3: borrow money for is a house. It's completely stupid, it's antiquated,
- 5:54Speaker 3: it is to really literally, it's a corrupt system that
- 5:57Speaker 3: is built to create it's slavery because what happens is
- 6:02Speaker 3: once I buy that house, it's a thirty year mortgage.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I'm twenty seven years old. I'm in that house. I
- 6:07Speaker 3: could be in that house till I'm fifty seven years old. Okay,
- 6:10Speaker 3: I should have taken that same five percent or ten percent.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Now it's twenty percent, and I should have taken that
- 6:15Speaker 3: money invested in myself in a business. Me and a
- 6:18Speaker 3: business can move. It can move, it can grow, it
- 6:20Speaker 3: can get big. The house can't grow if it's three
- 6:23Speaker 3: thousand square feet unless you're going to spend more money
- 6:25Speaker 3: on it's not going to get bigger, and you're never
- 6:27Speaker 3: gonna move it. And nobody's gonna come to your house
- 6:28Speaker 3: and give you money. No business has ever been done
- 6:31Speaker 3: in a home. So some of your viewers going to say, oh, yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 3: Henry Ford started in a garage and Steve Jobs started
- 6:38Speaker 3: in a garage. Yeah, but they didn't get rich staying there.
- 6:40Speaker 3: They left the garage. They left the garage to go
- 6:44Speaker 3: build a business. And so all I'm saying to you,
- 6:47Speaker 3: I moved seven times, Okay, Warren Buffett's had one house
- 6:50Speaker 3: in one car Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban's never going to
- 6:53Speaker 3: say I bought I bought houses and that's how I
- 6:56Speaker 3: became a billionaire. No, he invested in his business, he
- 6:58Speaker 3: invested in his idea, he got better at his game.
- 7:02Speaker 3: So to me, a house is a place to live,
- 7:05Speaker 3: maybe raise my family, hopefully do a good job of
- 7:08Speaker 3: doing that, you know, and it's place to be protected.
- 7:11Speaker 3: But I don't have to own it. I don't have
- 7:14Speaker 3: to own it. I could rent it. And then every
- 7:16Speaker 3: fourteen months or every time the landlord's not treat me right,
- 7:20Speaker 3: I'm like, you know what, I'm out of here, man,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna go to a new deal, maybe a new city,
- 7:24Speaker 3: a new place.
- 7:25Speaker 5: But your real estate journey, right, So you've gotten to
- 7:28Speaker 5: this point of the billions. But it started, it's aid
- 7:30Speaker 5: at fifteen, and so I'm like, fifteen, what was that
- 7:33Speaker 5: process like when you were driving around looking for homes
- 7:36Speaker 5: with somebody that was with you and then what was
- 7:38Speaker 5: that process up until getting your first home.
- 7:40Speaker 6: I know it was a single family.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, what she said, I'm never doing it again.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah. So what happened was the first lesson
- 7:46Speaker 3: I got was at ten years old, when my dad passed.
- 7:50Speaker 3: My mom had to sell the house the next week.
- 7:52Speaker 3: This was a home that was paid for in a
- 7:54Speaker 3: good location, by the way, but she couldn't keep it up.
- 7:57Speaker 3: She was worried about the maintenance of the house. She
- 8:00Speaker 3: dumped the house. She did the responsible thing. She was terrified.
- 8:03Speaker 3: She had no money coming in, and that was the
- 8:05Speaker 3: day I learned about it. I almost wore my cash
- 8:06Speaker 3: flow shirt to that should have cash flow is king man,
- 8:10Speaker 3: the ability to have cash coming in without me having
- 8:12Speaker 3: to work. And my mom's the cash flow got stopped
- 8:15Speaker 3: because my dad stopped. Okay, my dad died, right, So
- 8:18Speaker 3: she had to dump the house, cash in the life
- 8:21Speaker 3: insurance and start selling stocks that she had so she
- 8:24Speaker 3: could accumulate cash and hold onto it. She became a
- 8:27Speaker 3: hoarder because she was scared. A hoarder, right, She was scared,
- 8:31Speaker 3: so she was trying to just hold on the money.
- 8:33Speaker 3: We sold the house downscaled at that moment, I'm like, oh,
- 8:37Speaker 3: that house was not an asset. That house became a
- 8:40Speaker 3: liability for my mother because she couldn't maintain it property taxes, electricity, utilities,
- 8:45Speaker 3: and upkeep. She didn't want that obligation in that liability.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Even though the house was paid for, She dumped it,
- 8:51Speaker 3: moved to a smaller house. She should have rented. That's
- 8:53Speaker 3: what she should have done. That way, she wouldn't have
- 8:55Speaker 3: been out any money, and she had the mobility to
- 8:57Speaker 3: move around the town as she wanted to. So I
- 9:01Speaker 3: repeated that mistake when I was twenty eight years old
- 9:03Speaker 3: because I was lazy. I took three thousand dollars bought
- 9:06Speaker 3: a single family home. It was seventy eight five hundred bucks.
- 9:10Speaker 3: It was easy to get the loan. Telling you, if
- 9:12Speaker 3: it's easy, don't do it. The system is corrupt. Banks
- 9:16Speaker 3: made more money on single family homes last year than
- 9:19Speaker 3: all the owners of single family homes combined. They make
- 9:22Speaker 3: five or six percent every year. As long as you
- 9:25Speaker 3: have a loan, they make five or six percent. Realtor
- 9:29Speaker 3: makes six percent when when you bought it, they make
- 9:32Speaker 3: six percent when you sell it. That means to buy
- 9:34Speaker 3: and sell a home if you had a home ten years,
- 9:37Speaker 3: you would have to make six percent on the buy,
- 9:39Speaker 3: six percent on the exit, and you'd have to make
- 9:42Speaker 3: sixty percent just to pay the banks back. So you'd
- 9:45Speaker 3: have to make like seventy two percent on your money
- 9:48Speaker 3: just to break even in a house deal, and you
- 9:50Speaker 3: were stuck in the same place for ten years. So
- 9:53Speaker 3: I bought a single family home, rented it to a
- 9:55Speaker 3: girl named Janet. Her and HER's sister rented it. I
- 9:58Speaker 3: think my note was five hundred bucks I made. The
- 10:01Speaker 3: rent was six twenty five. I made one hundred and
- 10:03Speaker 3: twenty five dollars a month. I thought I was a
- 10:05Speaker 3: genius until they moved out. When they moved out, I
- 10:08Speaker 3: was like, no rent income. My asset became a liability
- 10:13Speaker 3: because they weren't there. The real asset was the tenant.
- 10:16Speaker 3: So all of a sudden, I had this house. I
- 10:18Speaker 3: didn't know how to rent it. It was I think
- 10:21Speaker 3: it was November in Houston, Texas is getting ready to
- 10:25Speaker 3: be cold and wet. I Ke'm not going to be
- 10:27Speaker 3: able to find a renter. I don't find a renter
- 10:29Speaker 3: until February. I sell the house, get my money back. Basically,
- 10:32Speaker 3: I said I'll never do that. Again, I say one door. No,
- 10:36Speaker 3: if it's got one dough, I say no, no, I say,
- 10:41Speaker 3: don't be a one flow ho. And that's what I was.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I was a one flow ho. I was basically Janet's bitch.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Because when Janet left, I'm like, oh shit, I got
- 10:51Speaker 3: to pay. I got to make the payment. And so
- 10:54Speaker 3: the next time I would buy a piece of real estate,
- 10:57Speaker 3: it was forty eight units in southern California. So I
- 11:00Speaker 3: went from one unit. I said, I'll never do that again.
- 11:02Speaker 3: The mistake was being dependent upon one thing. It's like
- 11:05Speaker 3: having a business with It's like having a grocery store
- 11:08Speaker 3: with one product. You never do that.
- 11:09Speaker 6: Well, having one stream of income or one stream.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Of income, I mean, have one wife. That's a good idea.
- 11:14Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean that's a different thing. I got
- 11:19Speaker 3: to feel in You're not a morment.
- 11:21Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I'm just thinking.
- 11:23Speaker 6: So all right, so how do you scale from one home?
- 11:25Speaker 6: So your next property was forty forty eight units?
- 11:28Speaker 3: Because yeah, yeah, forty eight forty eight, forty eight units
- 11:31Speaker 3: in one building, apartment building, So it was apartment building
- 11:33Speaker 3: forty eight units?
- 11:34Speaker 6: So did you how did that happen?
- 11:35Speaker 3: So I just started studying I started study. Every weekend
- 11:38Speaker 3: for three years, I went and shop real estate. I
- 11:41Speaker 3: knew what I had done wrong as soon as I did.
- 11:42Speaker 3: As soon as the chick moved out, I'm like, dang, dude,
- 11:45Speaker 3: buy more units, don't be don't have one door. One
- 11:50Speaker 3: door is for a home. You go in the front
- 11:51Speaker 3: door and you go out the back door. If you're
- 11:53Speaker 3: a bad neighborhood, have one door close off the back door.
- 11:56Speaker 3: You know, like there's no way in this house except
- 11:58Speaker 3: the front door. And so the problem in real estate,
- 12:00Speaker 3: with real estate or any business, you want to have
- 12:03Speaker 3: multiple pieces or products or flows of income. Right, So
- 12:07Speaker 3: I started researching real estate. I would literally I lived
- 12:10Speaker 3: in Houston, Texas, and I would just go shop real
- 12:13Speaker 3: estate every weekend. I'd walk the property, look at it,
- 12:15Speaker 3: two units, four units, six units, eight units, twenty units,
- 12:20Speaker 3: started doing the math on it, and just until I
- 12:22Speaker 3: figured out, oh wow, I can do this. You know,
- 12:24Speaker 3: I can figure out how to buy forty eight units.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Forty eight units is actually easier to buy than two
- 12:30Speaker 3: or three.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Why is forty eight units easy to buy in two
- 12:32Speaker 6: or three?
- 12:33Speaker 3: The bank treats forty eight units that collect one thousand
- 12:36Speaker 3: dollars a month at each unit to be at business.
- 12:40Speaker 3: They understand. I'll give you a perfect example. I can
- 12:43Speaker 3: go to Bank of America and say, hey, lend me money.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Lend me a million dollars to buy a Bank of
- 12:49Speaker 3: America stock. They will not lend me a million dollars
- 12:52Speaker 3: okay on a Bank of America, even if my credit
- 12:54Speaker 3: is good, they will not do it. I don't care
- 12:56Speaker 3: who you are for their stock. But if I go
- 12:59Speaker 3: to them with a million dollar real estate deal and say, hey,
- 13:01Speaker 3: lend me a million dollars in this real estate deal,
- 13:02Speaker 3: They'll be like, we'd love to. That shows you the
- 13:05Speaker 3: value of a bank stock compared to a bank feeling
- 13:11Speaker 3: like this property with forty eight units. During COVID, churches
- 13:15Speaker 3: were closed, strip centers were closed, bars were closed, restaurants
- 13:19Speaker 3: were closed. That mall was closed right over there, Avadur
- 13:22Speaker 3: Mall like America was shut down. Not one apartment building
- 13:25Speaker 3: in America was shut down. Because people have to have place.
- 13:27Speaker 6: So how do you? How do you what's the approval
- 13:29Speaker 6: process for commercial buildings? As of polls, each hat is easier.
- 13:32Speaker 6: So you have to have cash reserve.
- 13:35Speaker 3: You have to have cash. You have to have cash,
- 13:36Speaker 3: and you have to have cash reserves, and you got
- 13:38Speaker 3: to have some credit. But most importantly, you need to
- 13:40Speaker 3: have some experience.
- 13:41Speaker 5: So but that time in between, I know it was
- 13:43Speaker 5: like a five year span before that first single was
- 13:45Speaker 5: three years years. Yeah, to get so this is like
- 13:47Speaker 5: a I think it's it's a one point nine million
- 13:49Speaker 5: dollars deal.
- 13:50Speaker 3: That deal was one point that even research research, that's
- 13:54Speaker 3: what That's what Grandpa Dave doesn't do. He can't. He can't,
- 13:58Speaker 3: he can't, he can't any he's just repeating the same
- 14:01Speaker 3: stuff Like I can hear you guys are willing to
- 14:03Speaker 3: bring new ideas to your audience. And you got to
- 14:06Speaker 3: look at America like I'm looking at America right now
- 14:08Speaker 3: because I looked at my dad and my mom. My
- 14:11Speaker 3: dad did everything right, yet when he died, my mom
- 14:14Speaker 3: was My mom was hustling. She was scared when she
- 14:17Speaker 3: should have been in grief. She was in fear, and
- 14:19Speaker 3: she's having a dumb stuff. Man, when you're a widow,
- 14:21Speaker 3: you should not be having to sell stuff. You should
- 14:24Speaker 3: be in grief. And she couldn't. She's like, I got
- 14:26Speaker 3: to sell that, I gotta get rid of that. I
- 14:27Speaker 3: got to collect my life in yours. She had five
- 14:29Speaker 3: kids to raise and nobody to trust. She had no education,
- 14:32Speaker 3: She did not know anything about money. So she made
- 14:34Speaker 3: some moves that were defensive but not good for her.
- 14:38Speaker 3: So when I sold that first piece of real estate,
- 14:41Speaker 3: I'm like, I did something wrong here. Real Estate's not
- 14:43Speaker 3: the problem, it's what did I do wrong in the
- 14:45Speaker 3: real estate? I had one door. So I started doing
- 14:49Speaker 3: the research every week. Back then, there was no internet
- 14:52Speaker 3: where you go check how do I buy forty eight units? Okay?
- 14:55Speaker 3: So I started asking people that were in the game.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Tell me what I need to know, tell me what
- 14:59Speaker 3: I don't know. Tell me what's a good location, What
- 15:02Speaker 3: is cash flow? How do I get a loan? You
- 15:04Speaker 3: need about twenty five percent down to do a loan.
- 15:08Speaker 3: So I started saving money. I started like, okay, I'm
- 15:10Speaker 3: gonna put money down. What is forty eight unit's going
- 15:12Speaker 3: to cost me? You know it's going to cost me
- 15:14Speaker 3: about At that time, it wasn't a lot of money.
- 15:15Speaker 3: It's like four point eight million dollars. You could buy
- 15:17Speaker 3: forty eight units in California. I'm like, this is crazy.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Right.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Looking back, you'd be like, hey, I'll buy one of
- 15:22Speaker 3: those two. You guys would do that right now. So
- 15:25Speaker 3: what do you need to figure out? You need to
- 15:26Speaker 3: figure out how do I get a loan, how do
- 15:27Speaker 3: I get the down payment? And how do I get
- 15:29Speaker 3: the experience to tell the lender I'm a manager. The
- 15:33Speaker 3: most important part is the manager. It's not the credit
- 15:36Speaker 3: and it's not the down payment. Okay. So the first
- 15:38Speaker 3: thing I had to do was I had to get
- 15:39Speaker 3: a partner. So I went and found a guy that
- 15:42Speaker 3: knew real estate, and I'm like you, I'll do the money. Okay,
- 15:46Speaker 3: I'll sign you be the guy, and I'm gonna give
- 15:49Speaker 3: you a piece. I gave him twenty five percent of
- 15:51Speaker 3: the upside of this deal because I needed that. I
- 15:54Speaker 3: needed that that guy. I needed that what do you
- 15:56Speaker 3: what do you call it? Somebody telling me the other
- 15:59Speaker 3: day I needed cred I needed the uh huh, the receipt.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I needed the receipt man. I never heard that word,
- 16:07Speaker 3: but the receipt man.
- 16:10Speaker 6: You know.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I was telling SPEC. I said, we're spec. At the dude,
- 16:16Speaker 3: I said, I grew up with black guys. He's like,
- 16:18Speaker 3: I need a receipt. I said, what you're talking about?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Show me a picture. The point is I need what
- 16:24Speaker 3: do I need?
- 16:25Speaker 6: Oh?
- 16:25Speaker 3: I need a management experience, because the bank is not
- 16:27Speaker 3: going to give you a loan if you have good
- 16:29Speaker 3: credit and the money. They're gonna be like, can you
- 16:31Speaker 3: manage that forty eight units? Those tenants, the bed bugs,
- 16:34Speaker 3: the roaches, the tenant bounces, the evictions, can you do
- 16:38Speaker 3: all that? Okay? I had my guy. He did that,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and I gave him a piece to do it. Then
- 16:43Speaker 3: I need to figure out how do I get the stack? Okay, Look,
- 16:47Speaker 3: there's no shortage of money on this planet. You guys
- 16:49Speaker 3: know that, right, there's like, just like if you got
- 16:52Speaker 3: this mental thing that says there's a shortage. There's more
- 16:55Speaker 3: money on this planet than there are people, more money
- 16:58Speaker 3: than there are phones, more money than there are model jets.
- 17:03Speaker 3: There's more money than there are books. There's money. They
- 17:05Speaker 3: just print money. Man, money is manufactured. Your momm and
- 17:08Speaker 3: dad probably told you. Money doesn't grow on trees. No,
- 17:11Speaker 3: it's trended on a damn machine like and put it
- 17:15Speaker 3: in factories. So there's so much money. You just got
- 17:17Speaker 3: to figure out how do I get that money? And
- 17:19Speaker 3: so in that three years, what I did was I
- 17:21Speaker 3: found what my target was. I wanted a certain amount
- 17:23Speaker 3: of units. I knew my deal was going to be.
- 17:26Speaker 3: My next deal would go from three hundred or what
- 17:30Speaker 3: did I buy that deal for nothing?
- 17:32Speaker 6: Right?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Ninety seven or seventy eight thousand dollars? My next deal
- 17:35Speaker 3: was going to be probably one or two million dollars.
- 17:37Speaker 3: And I just started stacking in that period of time,
- 17:40Speaker 3: stacking the cash necessary to buy the deal, calling on
- 17:42Speaker 3: people getting money, putting the money away, storing it. Every
- 17:46Speaker 3: time I get stored, I just put it off this
- 17:48Speaker 3: side that's going to go to that deal. And then
- 17:50Speaker 3: I started trying to learn about what is the right
- 17:53Speaker 3: deal so I don't lose money, so I get cash flow,
- 17:55Speaker 3: and so I can.
- 17:55Speaker 6: Get what's a good deal for you? Now like these days,
- 17:59Speaker 6: you still look real estate, you still do multi filion. Yeah,
- 18:02Speaker 6: you said a good deal, So what is the good deal?
- 18:03Speaker 3: Well, a good deal, I mean a good deal is
- 18:06Speaker 3: a good location, you know. I mean I buy massive deals.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Now these are big deals.
- 18:11Speaker 6: No, no more for what's a good deal on a
- 18:15Speaker 6: massive deal? What's a massive deal?
- 18:17Speaker 3: I mean, I just I mean I did a deal
- 18:19Speaker 3: in December. It was one hundred and sixty five million
- 18:21Speaker 3: dollars one deal.
- 18:22Speaker 6: Okay, so what's that? What's that deal? Look?
- 18:23Speaker 3: Like that deal looks like that deal looks like sixty
- 18:26Speaker 3: five million dollars down. I financed one hundred million bucks.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I had three banks that wanted to give me a loan.
- 18:31Speaker 3: These are all things you're looking for. I want multiple
- 18:33Speaker 3: banks wanting to lend me money. Okay, I don't want
- 18:36Speaker 3: one bank. I don't want one one guy. So yeah,
- 18:39Speaker 3: we'll give you a loan, but two other banks say no.
- 18:41Speaker 3: If three banks say yes, that's a good deal.
- 18:43Speaker 6: Okay.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Number two at cash flows the month the first month
- 18:47Speaker 3: I owned that deal. I want to check back. I
- 18:48Speaker 3: want to check every month. I don't want to check
- 18:50Speaker 3: every quarter. I want to check every month. I don't
- 18:52Speaker 3: want to check ten years from that. Dude, I want
- 18:54Speaker 3: that paper back today, So I give you this. I
- 18:57Speaker 3: go to work. I want to be paid, and I
- 18:59Speaker 3: want to be paid this month. So Number one, I
- 19:01Speaker 3: want a great location. I need it to be a
- 19:03Speaker 3: big deal. The bigger, the better, you know. I want
- 19:06Speaker 3: to know a big big big is easier than little,
- 19:09Speaker 3: you know. And I wanted to cash flow. I want
- 19:11Speaker 3: multiple banks to give me a loan. And I want
- 19:15Speaker 3: to know. Lastly, who am I going to sell it to?
- 19:18Speaker 3: When I buy it? I already want to know how
- 19:20Speaker 3: to exit when I bought it. So you got your
- 19:22Speaker 3: egg strategy before you, dude. I know, I know that
- 19:25Speaker 3: there's good I know the five buyers that will that
- 19:28Speaker 3: I can call on the phone and say all five
- 19:30Speaker 3: of you did on it.
- 19:31Speaker 6: You're already communicated with them.
- 19:32Speaker 3: I know who's going to be a player on the
- 19:34Speaker 3: deal on the way out.
- 19:36Speaker 8: So how does that process work when you get and
- 19:37Speaker 8: you can't know that when you buy a house on
- 19:40Speaker 8: twenty twenty one twenty A street already because you're selling
- 19:44Speaker 8: in a market, you're selling to people that are economically driven.
- 19:49Speaker 3: See. I never want to sell to somebody that needs
- 19:51Speaker 3: the economy to be good. I want to sell to
- 19:53Speaker 3: people that have too much money. I want to sell
- 19:56Speaker 3: to people that have so much money that money is
- 19:58Speaker 3: their biggest problem. Fart they got to it, dude, they
- 20:01Speaker 3: have to spend money like I'm gonna I'm gonna put
- 20:04Speaker 3: a portfolio together. You just learned the deal. This is
- 20:07Speaker 3: where I went one house. I bought one house. Oh well,
- 20:09Speaker 3: who am I gonna sell it to? Then I had
- 20:11Speaker 3: to find somebody could pay me seventy eighty one thousand
- 20:14Speaker 3: for the house. Guess what's the problem with that. He's
- 20:16Speaker 3: got to have a job, he's got to have credit,
- 20:18Speaker 3: he's got to have a down payment, and he's got
- 20:20Speaker 3: to want to buy a house from me. That's a
- 20:21Speaker 3: problem for me because what if the economy shit? You
- 20:25Speaker 3: know what if he lost his job. So I'm like, okay,
- 20:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna go buy. I'm gonna go buy forty eight units.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I bought forty eight units for one point nine million dollars.
- 20:32Speaker 3: It was a freaking screamer deal. Like once I bought
- 20:35Speaker 3: the first one, I got cash flow. It was like
- 20:36Speaker 3: it was like I had a job without a job.
- 20:38Speaker 3: And then when I went to sell it, the guy
- 20:41Speaker 3: that was buying it from me was a doctor, and
- 20:44Speaker 3: he started getting all you know doctors, if you've ever
- 20:46Speaker 3: done a deal with a doctor, they know how to charge,
- 20:48Speaker 3: they don't know how to pay. They all get anal
- 20:53Speaker 3: like too much doctor time, too much probing. They're like
- 20:56Speaker 3: what about this? What about that? I'm liked, what's wrong
- 20:58Speaker 3: with you, man, You've got a good practice or not.
- 20:59Speaker 3: But they're cheap. They're cheap. So I was selling to
- 21:02Speaker 3: a guy that's cheap, and I'm like, okay, I got
- 21:05Speaker 3: to learn this game.
- 21:05Speaker 6: I don't.
- 21:06Speaker 3: I don't want to sell to people that are economically imprisoned.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I want to sell to the Goldman Sacks and the
- 21:11Speaker 3: Blackstones in the world. You can't start there, but you
- 21:14Speaker 3: can level the game up to play there, because Blackstone
- 21:18Speaker 3: has more money than they can actually put to work.
- 21:21Speaker 5: So I'm in my mind of wondering how this process
- 21:23Speaker 5: works when you're using three banks at the same time.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Is it like, are they working in separate entities or
- 21:29Speaker 5: they're saying, like, yo, we'll give him fifty, We'll give
- 21:31Speaker 5: him seventy five, yeah the rest.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Yeah, No, you never know. I mean, I mean three
- 21:35Speaker 3: banks that all want to lend me money on that deal. Oh,
- 21:38Speaker 3: just okay, they're competing for one lean service, not three longs. Okay, gotcha.
- 21:44Speaker 6: So you said you said, I saw on Instagram you
- 21:48Speaker 6: had nine hundred million dollars in debt something like that.
- 21:52Speaker 3: No, I probably have a maybe one way keep cutting me, man,
- 21:55Speaker 3: is what you said. This ain't Grandpa Day days, Like
- 21:59Speaker 3: a debt is bad debt. You're dumb, dude, You're dumb.
- 22:03Speaker 3: There's not a country on this planet that doesn't use debt,
- 22:05Speaker 3: including Apple Computer. Apple Computer has two and ninety six
- 22:10Speaker 3: billion dollars in cash today. They will borrow money tomorrow morning.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Debt is good. Some debt is good debt. And there's
- 22:17Speaker 3: not a wealthy company on this planet, not one wealthy
- 22:21Speaker 3: company on the planet Earth that is cash free that
- 22:24Speaker 3: does not use debt good debt because debt is so
- 22:28Speaker 3: cheap today. So you got companies that borrow money to
- 22:33Speaker 3: buy their shares back, right. So, so Dave is just
- 22:37Speaker 3: playing a little game. He's a little man. He's playing
- 22:39Speaker 3: a little man's game. It's a little man. It's an
- 22:42Speaker 3: old way of thinking, and it appeals to millions and
- 22:45Speaker 3: millions of people that are like I want to get
- 22:47Speaker 3: out of debt. I want to get out of debt.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I don't want to get out of debt. I want
- 22:50Speaker 3: to create wealth, and the way to create wealth is
- 22:52Speaker 3: through debt.
- 22:54Speaker 6: So, but do you ever worry about overleveraged like we
- 22:57Speaker 6: saw in two thousand and eight when the real estate
- 22:58Speaker 6: market crash. It's not market A lot of people.
- 23:01Speaker 3: I worry about. I worry about too much debt.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Okay, So how do you how do you hedge that
- 23:05Speaker 6: to make sure that you're still positioned even if.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I got I got one one point four million dollars
- 23:11Speaker 3: one point four billion dollars worth of debt, but I
- 23:13Speaker 3: got two point three billion dollars in assets, So I'm
- 23:17Speaker 3: not I'm not even no, no, not not like like i'm
- 23:22Speaker 3: I'm I'm maybe sixty percent okay, And the debt is cheap.
- 23:26Speaker 3: The debt is under three percent. I pay interests only.
- 23:30Speaker 3: I don't even pay the mortgage down. So basically what
- 23:32Speaker 3: I'm doing is pre paying my mortgage massive amounts of margage.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I'm paying down in the beginning. So it's stay stable,
- 23:39Speaker 3: my debt stay stable, and the asset goes up in value.
- 23:43Speaker 3: So like like a house, you see the problem with
- 23:45Speaker 3: a house. And you shouldn't even have this comparison of
- 23:48Speaker 3: conversation because if I buy a house, but let's say
- 23:51Speaker 3: the house is average house about two hundred and forwty
- 23:53Speaker 3: thousand dollars in America, and I put five percent down,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you probably over leverage right there. Why why would they
- 23:59Speaker 3: give me that loan and the house doesn't provide any income.
- 24:02Speaker 6: Well, you know what's interesting, we spent we spent the
- 24:04Speaker 6: summer in LA. This is the same conversation we have.
- 24:06Speaker 6: I'm a financial advisor by trade, so I was telling him.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I was telling him and my friend Jamore, and I'm like,
- 24:12Speaker 6: you know what, I was thinking about it because we're
- 24:14Speaker 6: having the stock market. I know, you're not really in
- 24:16Speaker 6: the stocks.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm not a paper guy.
- 24:18Speaker 6: We're having the stocks, and I'm like, you know, because
- 24:20Speaker 6: I see people that I worked with as a financial
- 24:22Speaker 6: advisor that might, you know, they might have like two
- 24:25Speaker 6: hundred thousand dollars of cash to their name, and they
- 24:28Speaker 6: buying a home and they using like seventy eighty thousand
- 24:31Speaker 6: dollars down and then they got to put another twenty
- 24:34Speaker 6: thousand and get their kitchen fixed, and then they got
- 24:36Speaker 6: to like borrow from their four one k and it's
- 24:38Speaker 6: like yeah, and they.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Got to go buy some furniture because now they're hooked it.
- 24:41Speaker 6: Yeah, so it's like you don't really have enough money.
- 24:44Speaker 6: You're like you're depleting your and then it's like you
- 24:47Speaker 6: don't have enough money to invest. So I was saying, like,
- 24:50Speaker 6: if you actually just rented a place and use that
- 24:52Speaker 6: money in the market, in the stock market, you would
- 24:54Speaker 6: have more money. So obviously everybody's situation is different. But
- 24:57Speaker 6: when I was telling him that, they was kind of
- 24:59Speaker 6: going back and forth. We didn't fully agree with me,
- 25:01Speaker 6: but I'm like.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Well they're wrong.
- 25:03Speaker 6: Well it.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Telling you part.
- 25:08Speaker 6: That's part of the story.
- 25:08Speaker 5: The other part was like it depends on the situation, right,
- 25:10Speaker 5: So if somebody's handed home, then it's different.
- 25:13Speaker 6: But most people aren't handed home.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Some people are. So even if you're handed up, you
- 25:16Speaker 3: don't want a homehanded to you, man, goddamn. Like like,
- 25:19Speaker 3: just somebody gives you a donut doesn't mean you want
- 25:21Speaker 3: to eat it. What did they give you?
- 25:24Speaker 6: What?
- 25:24Speaker 3: Did they give you an eight ball?
- 25:27Speaker 6: Here? Here?
- 25:27Speaker 3: Do it all right there? Just because they give it
- 25:29Speaker 3: to you, Like like you know, go out to the
- 25:32Speaker 3: club and somebody wants to give you something you can't
- 25:34Speaker 3: get rid of, Like like, I don't want that. Not
- 25:36Speaker 3: all assets or become can become liabilities. Children become liabilities,
- 25:41Speaker 3: Like my two kids are my biggest asset. But the
- 25:43Speaker 3: truth is if you don't share this anywhere except to
- 25:46Speaker 3: your small nobody. If somebody threatened my kids, like I
- 25:54Speaker 3: will give all my goal away, like it is my
- 25:56Speaker 3: biggest liability is the threat of my children. If somebody
- 25:59Speaker 3: would do something to my kids. That's why I say
- 26:01Speaker 3: all assets become liabilities at some point. You see what
- 26:04Speaker 3: I'm saying. So when I go by that one house
- 26:07Speaker 3: in Los Angeles, which is gonna be five hundred thousand, right,
- 26:11Speaker 3: small house, small house, ship, and you better carry what
- 26:18Speaker 3: I got in my bag. You got to put one
- 26:21Speaker 3: hundred grand down since COVID, that's a twenty percent down payment.
- 26:24Speaker 3: That whole five percent games off the table now for everybody.
- 26:27Speaker 3: So now it's twenty percent down? Am I right on that?
- 26:30Speaker 6: MG?
- 26:31Speaker 3: MG?
- 26:32Speaker 6: Huh?
- 26:33Speaker 3: What where can I get a five percent loan today?
- 26:36Speaker 6: Oh?
- 26:36Speaker 3: Man? You ought to check? Man, take a little COVID check. Okay,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you got that mask on right now? Okay, any bank
- 26:46Speaker 3: in America? What if I lost my job during COVID,
- 26:51Speaker 3: I was off excuse me? Okay, that's forty million people.
- 26:55Speaker 3: The game just changed for forty million. That's now a
- 26:57Speaker 3: twenty percent down payment. Forty million people in this country
- 27:00Speaker 3: lost their jobs. Okay, that's nine percent of the population,
- 27:03Speaker 3: like as a massive portion of people. And then if
- 27:06Speaker 3: you didn't lose your job, they're gonna look at that
- 27:08Speaker 3: job and say, okay, you work over at Cardona Enterprises.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Was anybody let go? Did you guys get cut? Like
- 27:14Speaker 3: a lot of people got cut. The banks are scared
- 27:16Speaker 3: right now. They're terrified of these home loans. So let's
- 27:18Speaker 3: say it takes whatever number you want to use. You
- 27:21Speaker 3: wanted to use twenty five thousand dollars down, that's five
- 27:24Speaker 3: percent or it's one hundred thousand dollars down. Either way,
- 27:26Speaker 3: you had a you're tied to a thirty year mortgage.
- 27:30Speaker 3: You're gonna pay what four percent? Two point one two
- 27:35Speaker 3: and a half percent ten years, you're gonna you need
- 27:38Speaker 3: twenty one point five percent just to pay the bank back.
- 27:42Speaker 3: You need a twenty one percent gain on that house
- 27:44Speaker 3: in California.
- 27:46Speaker 6: And another problem is that the vast majority of people don't
- 27:48Speaker 6: make enough money to actually support their mortgage payments. They
- 27:51Speaker 6: live in paycheck to paycheck. So if they're making like
- 27:54Speaker 6: even ten thousand dollars a month and then mortgage payment
- 27:56Speaker 6: is four thousand, then you gotta pay insurance, and you
- 27:58Speaker 6: gotta pay for your kid to go to school in
- 28:00Speaker 6: And they had to.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Pay the little, the little what's it called the little
- 28:03Speaker 3: because they only put five percent down? What's that jack fee? PM?
- 28:08Speaker 3: I do you know if they use abbreviations, they're fucking you.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I'm just saying, you know, they the r E. I
- 28:20Speaker 3: T the reate, it was real estate. It was perfect
- 28:23Speaker 3: the way it was, and they added the I T
- 28:27Speaker 3: Investment Trust at that point, they fuck you right there.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I'm just saying, every time they start doing the acromen,
- 28:34Speaker 3: they jacket you. Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 6: So I agree with a lot what you're saying, and
- 28:39Speaker 6: I mean everybody, a lot of people have said, like,
- 28:40Speaker 6: that's why you should buy multi families and have some
- 28:43Speaker 6: level of cash flow, because if it's just a single
- 28:44Speaker 6: filmly home, it's not really technically, it's not really an investment.
- 28:48Speaker 6: And like I said, for the vast majority of people,
- 28:50Speaker 6: they're kind of doing it wrong and they're struggling and
- 28:52Speaker 6: they's just like working just to pay their debt.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and if this is a good deal, by the way,
- 28:58Speaker 3: if it's a good deal, then once you go buy
- 29:01Speaker 3: four of them, because you get the same loan, and
- 29:04Speaker 3: then you got four people paying you rather than you
- 29:07Speaker 3: paying it. So like, I mean, I could slice this
- 29:10Speaker 3: thing so many different ways. If this is a piece
- 29:12Speaker 3: of real estate. I'm gonna be limited on my interest
- 29:15Speaker 3: deductions right to what seven hundred Do you know what
- 29:19Speaker 3: my interest was last year on one point four billion dollars.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I don't even know what the number is. Too many
- 29:24Speaker 3: zeros who bob. But like, let's say I paid three
- 29:27Speaker 3: percent on one point four billion. That was five hundred
- 29:30Speaker 3: and twenty million dollars in debt interest payments. You can
- 29:35Speaker 3: only write off up to seven hundred and fifty thousand.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Guess what I wrote off the entire five hundred and
- 29:41Speaker 3: twenty million in interest payments, all of it. I want
- 29:44Speaker 3: to put on a new roof. Fucking write that off too.
- 29:46Speaker 6: I want to put on new doors, right because it's commercial.
- 29:49Speaker 3: You can't do that on the house. You don't get
- 29:51Speaker 3: any of the game. You don't get the leverage, you
- 29:53Speaker 3: don't get the wealth game, and you don't get anybody
- 29:55Speaker 3: paying your paying your rent. All this real estate that
- 29:58Speaker 3: I bought, I rent where I lived. Nope, right now
- 30:02Speaker 3: and nobody people come over my house, have drinks with
- 30:05Speaker 3: me and they're like, do you rent this or do
- 30:06Speaker 3: you own this? Nobody asked me that.
- 30:09Speaker 6: As a part of yet.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Okay, nobody asked so please just watch you got And
- 30:20Speaker 3: by the way, I pay for this watch with real estate.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Real estate bought this watch.
- 30:24Speaker 6: That's that's a house right there, you know.
- 30:28Speaker 3: And I'll tell you a little trick with money. Man,
- 30:30Speaker 3: I am the I am the tightest and smartest dude
- 30:32Speaker 3: there is on money. Like if if it's not passive income,
- 30:36Speaker 3: if I cannot buy it with passive income, I will
- 30:38Speaker 3: not buy it. Like if I go earn money five
- 30:42Speaker 3: hundred grand, I would never spend five hundred grand. I
- 30:45Speaker 3: take the five hundred grant, invest all of it. If
- 30:48Speaker 3: the investment can buy my Richard, I'll buy it. Okay,
- 30:52Speaker 3: I have to build a buy two of them. Guy
- 30:54Speaker 3: came to me about to watch. He's like, it's number
- 30:56Speaker 3: ten or fifteen. I'm like, Okay, hold on, I think
- 30:58Speaker 3: I like it. Hold on, but let me talk about that.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Can I buy number one? Do we have enough passive
- 31:04Speaker 3: income to pay for it? Number two? Can I buy
- 31:07Speaker 3: two of them right now in cash? And number three?
- 31:11Speaker 3: Do you still know this is stupid? Yes? I do?
- 31:15Speaker 3: And number four? Dude, if you got two of those
- 31:19Speaker 3: checked off, you could probably pull the deal off. Can
- 31:21Speaker 3: I write it off? No, I can't write it off. Okay,
- 31:23Speaker 3: it's stupid. Let's do it anyway.
- 31:26Speaker 5: So is that when you came with the mentality like
- 31:28Speaker 5: I read that, you said, Look, I always try to
- 31:30Speaker 5: go broke as soon as I get the money, I
- 31:32Speaker 5: got to put it.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Man, cash is trash, Cash is garbage. It is garbage,
- 31:37Speaker 3: is manufactured Fiat. It's got a white dude with a
- 31:41Speaker 3: balding head. And in God we trust. There's so many
- 31:44Speaker 3: lives on one hundred dollars bill, it's unbelievable. It's all
- 31:48Speaker 3: lies and tricks and gimmicks and pulling on heart strings
- 31:52Speaker 3: and trying to get people to convince. Do you guys
- 31:54Speaker 3: really believe God's got anything to do with this piece
- 31:56Speaker 3: of paper? Huh? Come on, man, please, we trade in
- 32:01Speaker 3: time for pieces of paper, all a bunch of In
- 32:04Speaker 3: God we trust, one hundred dollars in the United States
- 32:06Speaker 3: of America, what's it worth? You know? We printed twenty
- 32:10Speaker 3: one percent of all the US dollars in circulation. They
- 32:12Speaker 3: were printed last year, not in the last decade, last year.
- 32:16Speaker 3: So that dollar, that dollar is after last year's worth
- 32:19Speaker 3: about that. So this is trash. You lose it. The
- 32:23Speaker 3: banks tell you to save it, save it, man, save
- 32:25Speaker 3: the money. Save the money. As soon as you give
- 32:27Speaker 3: it to the bank, they freaking push it out into
- 32:29Speaker 3: the marketplace ninety seven times, so they got to keep
- 32:32Speaker 3: three percent of their reserves. They push it out ninety
- 32:34Speaker 3: seven times. They don't even do what they tell us
- 32:36Speaker 3: to do, save your money, and then they tell us
- 32:38Speaker 3: buy a house. The banks are the ones that sold
- 32:41Speaker 3: us on a house. Okay, we eat you eat eggs
- 32:44Speaker 3: and bacon for breakfast because somebody came out with a
- 32:47Speaker 3: program that said breakfast is the meal of the day,
- 32:50Speaker 3: and that saved the pork in the chicken industry and
- 32:53Speaker 3: farmers around the country. We're being lied to every day, man.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Seventy six percent of Americans paid that paycheck to pay check,
- 33:00Speaker 3: and most everybody is playing the game by the rules. Okay,
- 33:05Speaker 3: it's like it's like going to Vegas.
- 33:06Speaker 6: That's when you get hurt.
- 33:08Speaker 3: You playing by the rules. Yeah, and you're playing by
- 33:10Speaker 3: the middle class rules. Poverty is not the problem in
- 33:12Speaker 3: this country. It's the middle that's the real problem. It's
- 33:15Speaker 3: got seventy six percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck.
- 33:19Speaker 3: They're buying houses, they're buying life insurance, they're dabbling in
- 33:22Speaker 3: the stock market. There they got our accounts in four
- 33:25Speaker 3: oh one. K's bullshit live programs. Send your money in
- 33:30Speaker 3: forty years. It'll be here for you when you get here.
- 33:33Speaker 3: It's stupid, man, it benefits Wall Street, it benefits the banks.
- 33:38Speaker 6: So let me ask you this. You don't you don't
- 33:40Speaker 6: believe in the stock market.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I don't understand it, man. It's just it's just too
- 33:45Speaker 3: complicated for me. Man. So it's like, look at all
- 33:48Speaker 3: the acronyms. Man, too many. Damn man, there's a lot
- 33:55Speaker 3: of trigger shit going on. I mean, opened up Wall
- 34:00Speaker 3: Street Journal and then you show me a picture of
- 34:02Speaker 3: a casino. It looks very similar to me. We'll let
- 34:07Speaker 3: will cracker jack poker machine back jack five dollars, ten
- 34:13Speaker 3: dollars twenty five. You know, it's just weird to me,
- 34:16Speaker 3: Like they won't lend me money there, like the banks
- 34:19Speaker 3: will lend you money to you. Well, you get a
- 34:20Speaker 3: Martin account, you can get a Martin, but you had
- 34:22Speaker 3: you had to go take a steak first case. Now
- 34:27Speaker 3: look now, because now they want to pull it back
- 34:29Speaker 3: from you. Okay. The whole thing about liquid, we all
- 34:32Speaker 3: been taught stay liquid. Is that really good? See as
- 34:38Speaker 3: long as you liquid, man, I can get your bag
- 34:42Speaker 3: as long as you liquid. If I look like, if
- 34:44Speaker 3: you guys just open your minds a second and think, Man,
- 34:48Speaker 3: can this many people be this stupid? Like? Can this
- 34:54Speaker 3: many people be stupid. You're working your asses off. You
- 34:57Speaker 3: do exactly what they say. I'm gonna save my money.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I'm a buy and we still don't get ahead because
- 35:03Speaker 3: we're not making the wealth. News man warn Buffett on
- 35:05Speaker 3: one house in one car, he took all this other
- 35:08Speaker 3: money and invested. Okay, Elon Musk, he cashes out of PayPal,
- 35:12Speaker 3: never owned a damn home in his life. Okay, one
- 35:14Speaker 3: of the richest people in the world. Cash is out
- 35:17Speaker 3: of PayPal with one hundred and eighty million dollars, invest
- 35:19Speaker 3: the entire amount in three businesses the next week, and
- 35:22Speaker 3: then rented an apartment. And we're saying, yes, service to Musk,
- 35:26Speaker 3: Let's go to Mars. So you just have to start.
- 35:30Speaker 3: When you see this many people trapped, you can't say
- 35:34Speaker 3: these people are stupid. Okay, you got to say what's wrong.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I saw myself for twenty years, from the age of
- 35:40Speaker 3: twenty five to forty five, not getting ahead. Okay, two
- 35:43Speaker 3: thousand and eight hit and I was like, oh, what happened.
- 35:46Speaker 3: What happened was I had played by the rules. I
- 35:49Speaker 3: got trapped by the rules. I did everything exactly the
- 35:52Speaker 3: way I was supposed to do it, and it's just
- 35:55Speaker 3: the wrong set of rules.
- 35:56Speaker 5: So it was a mindset change, because I mean, I
- 35:58Speaker 5: heard you say this about the this book that we
- 36:00Speaker 5: both read, The Millionaire next Door. And I read it
- 36:03Speaker 5: and my perspective was like, Wow, people that make that
- 36:06Speaker 5: much money are cheap, right, they don't exactly. They're conservative
- 36:11Speaker 5: with their money and that's how they keep it. And
- 36:13Speaker 5: then I heard your perspective and.
- 36:14Speaker 8: I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a different
- 36:17Speaker 8: way to look at it.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was like, you know, his mindset is
- 36:19Speaker 3: just different.
- 36:20Speaker 6: I don't want to be a millionaire.
- 36:22Speaker 3: When I read The Millionaire next Door, that was the
- 36:23Speaker 3: last time I ever took advice from a million millionaire.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't live like that. That's stupid. Buy
- 36:29Speaker 3: a used truck, right, Like, if a used truck or
- 36:32Speaker 3: a new truck gets intwhere where I want to go,
- 36:35Speaker 3: I'm done already. You know, don't buy coffee this four dollars.
- 36:39Speaker 3: If four dollars cinc shit, you are fucked up. Okay,
- 36:44Speaker 3: you can do this all day, every day, as long
- 36:46Speaker 3: as you want to see. This is the this is
- 36:48Speaker 3: the environment I was brought up in. My mama was
- 36:50Speaker 3: clipping coupons she had a drawer where it was coupon's
- 36:53Speaker 3: the whole drawer. You could not it was the sacred drawer.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Do you guys have the sacred drawer down?
- 36:57Speaker 5: It was a sacred bag, I know, dude, so and
- 37:01Speaker 5: she knew when the sales were and she knew you.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Buy low and you sell hot. That is not how
- 37:06Speaker 3: you create wealth. You do not create wealth on defense.
- 37:10Speaker 3: You created on offense.
- 37:12Speaker 6: So use in the car industry. Not a lot of
- 37:14Speaker 6: people know that. Yeah. Yeah, my man Mike actually took
- 37:17Speaker 6: your course. He used to sell cars, Big Mic, Big Mic.
- 37:20Speaker 6: So we got a new name.
- 37:24Speaker 3: For what's he doing now?
- 37:25Speaker 6: Man, he's with us, Okay, okay, yeah, so.
- 37:30Speaker 3: He never smiles or is at the mask.
- 37:32Speaker 6: He's smiling right now. Ok Look, I.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Hated the car business man, You hated the car business.
- 37:38Speaker 3: It's only job I could get. I got out of
- 37:40Speaker 3: a treatment center for drug addiction. Okay, and from the
- 37:43Speaker 3: age of fifteen to twenty five, I was addicted to drugs.
- 37:45Speaker 6: What drug were you addicted to?
- 37:47Speaker 3: What you got?
- 37:48Speaker 6: Name it?
- 37:50Speaker 3: You got? What drug you got?
- 37:51Speaker 5: So we took in like nineteen eighties, Yeah, yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 6: Crack, whatever what you got? Okay? Oh, they cracked, he
- 37:57Speaker 6: did everything. Yeah, it was terrible.
- 38:00Speaker 3: It was terrible. Like I was one hundred and thirty pounds.
- 38:02Speaker 3: There's nobody. Yeah maybe maybe maybe spat with all this metal.
- 38:11Speaker 3: It made one thirty So I weighed one hundred and
- 38:13Speaker 3: thirty one pounds. That's fifty pounds less than I weighed today.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I was my my color of my skin was gray. Man, Like,
- 38:19Speaker 3: you know, I was a mess?
- 38:20Speaker 6: How many years?
- 38:21Speaker 3: Ten years?
- 38:21Speaker 6: Ten years? Yeah?
- 38:22Speaker 3: Really I was a mess. I had seven stitches put
- 38:24Speaker 3: in my head and face and beat up with a
- 38:26Speaker 3: pistol whip with a forty five caliber.
- 38:28Speaker 6: So how did you that's?
- 38:30Speaker 3: And then when I got out of the treatment center,
- 38:31Speaker 3: the only the only place I could get a job
- 38:33Speaker 3: was a car dealership.
- 38:34Speaker 6: How old were you when you got a car dealership situation?
- 38:37Speaker 3: Uh, twenty three. I was in a car dealership of
- 38:40Speaker 3: twenty three, and I left the car dealership, went to treatment,
- 38:45Speaker 3: and when I came back, they took me back.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Hmm. So all right, So you had substance abuse issues
- 38:51Speaker 6: for your whole teenage, like yeah, exactly until it was
- 38:53Speaker 6: like early twenties. You're go in the car business. How
- 38:57Speaker 6: do you grow the car because you became pretty big,
- 38:59Speaker 6: and you became big in the car business.
- 39:01Speaker 3: So what happened was I had a job.
- 39:03Speaker 6: I hated you were selling cars, yeah yeah.
- 39:05Speaker 3: And I hated it right. I hated the way people
- 39:07Speaker 3: looked at me. If I wanted to go on a
- 39:09Speaker 3: date and I told the girl I was a car salesman,
- 39:10Speaker 3: she wouldn't take the date. Right now, everybody hates a
- 39:13Speaker 3: car salesman, so right now I hate you now so
- 39:19Speaker 3: so and uh. And I had a college degree. Man,
- 39:22Speaker 3: I finished college with a drug problem, Like I just
- 39:25Speaker 3: squeaked through the college thing. So when you get out,
- 39:28Speaker 3: when you spend five years getting an accounting degree in college,
- 39:31Speaker 3: car salesman is not the thing you want to be.
- 39:33Speaker 3: But but nobody would hire me. So I took I
- 39:35Speaker 3: kept a job, and when I got back out of
- 39:37Speaker 3: the treatment center, I did not have the option in
- 39:40Speaker 3: my life to go find a job. A light. This
- 39:42Speaker 3: has become a defining moment for my life. I learned, Ernest,
- 39:47Speaker 3: what's up.
- 39:48Speaker 5: You ever walk into a small business and everything just works,
- 39:51Speaker 5: like the checkout is fast, the seats are digital, tipping

- 41:37Speaker 9: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 41:41Speaker 9: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 41:45Speaker 9: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 41:49Speaker 9: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 41:53Speaker 9: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 41:57Speaker 9: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christine, the United States Secretary
- 42:01Speaker 9: of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings
- 42:06Speaker 9: are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over one
- 42:09Speaker 9: hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you were
- 42:12Speaker 9: here illegally, your next you will be fine nearly one
- 42:16Speaker 9: thousand dollars a day. Imprisoned and deported, you will never return.
- 42:21Speaker 9: But if you register using our CBP home app and
- 42:24Speaker 9: leave now. You could be allowed to return legally do
- 42:28Speaker 9: what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws, border
- 42:33Speaker 9: and families will be protected.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Earned
- 42:38Speaker 3: how to do one of the things I'm most proud of.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I learned how to lean into something I hated. And
- 42:44Speaker 3: it's a cool It was a really cool spiritual experience
- 42:47Speaker 3: because the very thing that I hated the most I
- 42:51Speaker 3: ended up getting really good at. And not only did
- 42:54Speaker 3: I get good at it, but it was like I
- 42:56Speaker 3: changed it. I became a guru in the space, and
- 43:00Speaker 3: I changed the way people sell cars. So like today
- 43:03Speaker 3: when you can go there and easily get a price
- 43:05Speaker 3: and a payment and a down payment. I'm the guy
- 43:08Speaker 3: that created all that.
- 43:09Speaker 5: So you actually hated sales and just became the guru
- 43:12Speaker 5: of sales from that moment.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I hated it, and I hated all the trickery. Hide it,
- 43:16Speaker 3: don't tell them. You know, they play all these games
- 43:18Speaker 3: in the car dealership, like you know, you're still playing
- 43:20Speaker 3: the game. Yeah yeah, yeah. So it was like, don't
- 43:25Speaker 3: tell them a price, make sure they love the car,
- 43:28Speaker 3: work it out on their budget. You know. It was trickery,
- 43:31Speaker 3: and so I cleaned all that up and got very successful.
- 43:33Speaker 3: And then I started teaching car dealerships how to do it.
- 43:35Speaker 3: That was my first business.
- 43:37Speaker 6: So you branded yourself, started a side business, yeah, and
- 43:40Speaker 6: became a consultant to car That's.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Right, that's right, doing your homework these guys.
- 43:46Speaker 6: So what did this entrepreneur spirit comfort? Because I mean,
- 43:48Speaker 6: all right, so you have a very interesting, you know
- 43:51Speaker 6: background as far as something abuse for ten years, that's
- 43:54Speaker 6: a long period of time. Yeah, then you become an entrepreneur.
- 43:57Speaker 6: Like who taught you entrepreneurship? Nobody man taught yourself. Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 3: You know, I'm not self made. I don't want to
- 44:06Speaker 3: say like I'm a self made guy. But like when
- 44:09Speaker 3: I was coming up, there was no courses, you know,
- 44:13Speaker 3: so hey, grant cardon here, Like I've done that cold
- 44:17Speaker 3: call in cities like this show I just did Undercover Billionaire.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I knew I could do it. I mean like when
- 44:24Speaker 3: they called me and said, hey, can we drop you
- 44:25Speaker 3: off in the city and you could build a million
- 44:27Speaker 3: dollar business in ninety days, I'm like, yeah, yeah, Like
- 44:31Speaker 3: you think you could do it, I'm like yeah, But
- 44:33Speaker 3: question is would I do it? Like would I leave
- 44:35Speaker 3: my family? Would I get dropped off into something, leave
- 44:38Speaker 3: my my my beautiful plane, you know? Would I leave
- 44:41Speaker 3: my cush lifestyle, my nice cars? You know, my Gucci slippers. Man,
- 44:47Speaker 3: Am I gonna leave all my ship? I gotta leave
- 44:49Speaker 3: my Richard at home? Man, I don't real my babies manchie,
- 44:53Speaker 3: you know? So am I gonna do that?
- 44:55Speaker 6: Like?
- 44:55Speaker 3: Can I do it? Yeah?
- 44:56Speaker 6: Could? I?
- 44:57Speaker 3: Would I do it? Different? Thing? That was the hardest
- 44:59Speaker 3: thing I ever done, have done in.
- 45:00Speaker 6: My life, under cover million never do it again.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Hardest thing. I didn't mean to jump on you, but
- 45:07Speaker 3: so you know when I got into real When I
- 45:09Speaker 3: got I got fired from that car dealership, and then
- 45:11Speaker 3: I started. I was forced to go out and start
- 45:14Speaker 3: my own business. I didn't I never had. I want
- 45:17Speaker 3: to be an entrepreneur. I want to be a big
- 45:18Speaker 3: business guy. I was forced into this.
- 45:21Speaker 6: So then from growing that, yeah, you see, you see
- 45:23Speaker 6: the value in business, and now you just go in
- 45:26Speaker 6: every different you go in other different directions from there.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Well, when I was thirty, I started the first business.
- 45:30Speaker 3: So I started. This is how I started on There
- 45:32Speaker 3: was no Internet, No, there was no social media, there
- 45:34Speaker 3: was no verified Hey hey, my name's Grant Cardoon. I
- 45:38Speaker 3: would go off the cities. I would go to San Antonio.
- 45:40Speaker 3: I lived in Houston at the time. I'd go to
- 45:41Speaker 3: San Antonio. Hey, my name is Grant Cardoon. Can you
- 45:44Speaker 3: give me five minutes? Click? Yeah. I mean thousands of
- 45:47Speaker 3: people's closed doors on me, and that really built this
- 45:50Speaker 3: skin that I have today, This this thing that I have,
- 45:53Speaker 3: you know, this meet, My ability to stand up for
- 45:57Speaker 3: myself is really because of thousands ten that that was
- 46:00Speaker 3: a cold cast.
- 46:01Speaker 5: So how are you scaling it this time?
- 46:02Speaker 6: Right?
- 46:03Speaker 5: Because there is no internet, I'll we doing like publications
- 46:05Speaker 5: in newspaper, How are you doing?
- 46:07Speaker 3: Ever bought a publication? I'd basically get on the phone.
- 46:09Speaker 3: I was in Houston. I called Salt Lake City. I'm
- 46:11Speaker 3: going on a Saturday and Sunday. I get on the
- 46:14Speaker 3: phone and start calling businesses Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And
- 46:17Speaker 3: on Sunday night I get on a plane flight to
- 46:18Speaker 3: Salt Lake City and start calling on people. Hey, I
- 46:21Speaker 3: was the guy you hung up on yesterday. We take
- 46:23Speaker 3: a minute and see me. You're the guy, man, You're
- 46:26Speaker 3: the guy to call back three times? Yeah, I'm the guy.
- 46:27Speaker 3: I just man, I'm just flewing from Houston. I want
- 46:29Speaker 3: to come by and see the guy that keeps hanging
- 46:31Speaker 3: up on me. Damn, what did I do to you? Man? Okay,
- 46:34Speaker 3: come on in, son I's thirty years old, and come in.
- 46:38Speaker 3: I talk to him. I can help your sales department.
- 46:40Speaker 3: I can show you something. Don't pay me any money,
- 46:42Speaker 3: don't give me any money. Let me just show you
- 46:43Speaker 3: what I can do. Okay, man, go take a shot.
- 46:47Speaker 3: And then that's how I started doing that thirty two
- 46:50Speaker 3: years ago.
- 46:50Speaker 5: So who's the first business that you got that made
- 46:53Speaker 5: That was the break and it was like, you know what,
- 46:54Speaker 5: this is the deal that's going to change my life.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Dude. I was in Utah. I was in Utah. I
- 46:59Speaker 3: was about to clear measure. I was about to quit.
- 47:02Speaker 3: You got me in the marms shut out. I can't
- 47:05Speaker 3: one wife. So I was in Uh. I was about
- 47:10Speaker 3: to quit because it was hard. It's one of the
- 47:12Speaker 3: hardest things I've ever done is cold call businesses, any
- 47:15Speaker 3: of your rather cold companies. I'm not called I'm cold
- 47:18Speaker 3: calling companies. And I didn't have a team doing it.
- 47:23Speaker 6: I'm doing it.
- 47:24Speaker 3: And then I would still go to the city and
- 47:25Speaker 3: call on the very people that hung up on me.
- 47:28Speaker 6: So which was a you know, that's different.
- 47:30Speaker 5: It's brutal because something like the time you're still paying
- 47:32Speaker 5: for long distance we make in these schools.
- 47:33Speaker 3: I was paying for and long distance. True story, it's crazy,
- 47:35Speaker 3: Like I get two hundred dollars bill. I was terrified
- 47:38Speaker 3: and I had no money, no loans. It was all bootstrapped.
- 47:41Speaker 3: And Utah was the fourth city I did and I
- 47:45Speaker 3: had a breakthrough. Man, I just everything just fell in place.
- 47:48Speaker 3: I'm like, this is my gig. And I got so
- 47:52Speaker 3: good at that. I started making money as a speaker,
- 47:54Speaker 3: and and then three years into it, my asset, this
- 47:58Speaker 3: business became a liability. Why because it was no longer
- 48:01Speaker 3: it wasn't scalable, Okay, So I got stuck in it.
- 48:04Speaker 3: I became I was on the road two hundred and
- 48:06Speaker 3: fifty days a year. I didn't have a life. I
- 48:08Speaker 3: had money coming in, but.
- 48:10Speaker 6: I couldn't multiply yourself.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I couldn't multiply it. Man, I didn't know. I couldn't.
- 48:15Speaker 3: I wasn't. I wasn't thinking. I was thinking about just
- 48:18Speaker 3: hold on. See. I was still I was still financially
- 48:22Speaker 3: h illiterate. Because I knew how to get money, I
- 48:25Speaker 3: didn't know what to do with it, and so I
- 48:27Speaker 3: would just store it. I would just put it off
- 48:29Speaker 3: to the side. I bought retirement accounts. I know he
- 48:32Speaker 3: loves that retirement agown ship, and I would get that.
- 48:36Speaker 3: I got an IRA that was stupid. I got a
- 48:40Speaker 3: four O one. I thought I was a genius. You
- 48:43Speaker 3: know it was so stupid, dude.
- 48:45Speaker 6: So let me ask you this taxes.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Yeah, taxes, taxes, my friend, this is what I'm good at.
- 48:51Speaker 3: I know how to play.
- 48:52Speaker 6: This, this, this is this is what I want to hear. Man.
- 48:54Speaker 6: I've heard you say, is this.
- 48:56Speaker 3: A Christian channel?
- 48:57Speaker 6: No?
- 48:58Speaker 3: Okay, good fuck the Irin. Tell him, I said, I
- 49:04Speaker 3: think it's going to be in a deposition one day.
- 49:08Speaker 6: I said it, tell how you really feel.
- 49:09Speaker 3: I don't like him.
- 49:11Speaker 6: So you said that I'm paraphrasing.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:14Speaker 6: Don't hate the player. Hate the game?
- 49:16Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, when the game?
- 49:19Speaker 6: When the game? When the game?
- 49:19Speaker 3: You got?
- 49:20Speaker 6: Learn how to play the game? A clip one viral
- 49:22Speaker 6: on Instagram tlding about how you brought the plane at
- 49:24Speaker 6: the end of the year. Yeah yeah, man, that's what
- 49:27Speaker 6: we had for brother, So give us the game. How
- 49:32Speaker 6: wealthy and rich people will boid?
- 49:34Speaker 3: Okay, So first of all, you to pull this off,
- 49:37Speaker 3: you have to accumulate money. You got to get money.
- 49:40Speaker 3: You cannot do this without the bag. So I say,
- 49:43Speaker 3: get the bag. Secure the bag, okay, and then you
- 49:46Speaker 3: have to use the bag. You cannot. Just like this
- 49:48Speaker 3: was I made a reference to Pablo Escobar. He didn't
- 49:51Speaker 3: know how to convert the bag cash became his cash.
- 49:55Speaker 3: Cash by itself is garbage. Okay. The rats will eat it,
- 50:00Speaker 3: the mold will get it. It's just gonna go away.
- 50:02Speaker 3: It's being depreciated every second of every day. The greatest
- 50:05Speaker 3: tax in the world is inflation. It's a hidden tax.
- 50:09Speaker 3: So it goes down in value, right, they just print more.
- 50:11Speaker 3: So this this is its ability to buy things goes
- 50:14Speaker 3: down in value because the price of things goes up.
- 50:16Speaker 3: So what I do with money? Okay, every day I
- 50:19Speaker 3: get an account. First thing I do when I get
- 50:21Speaker 3: to my office is I look at my cash accounts.
- 50:23Speaker 3: The purpose, yeah, the purpose? This is what I saw today. Okay,
- 50:26Speaker 3: you don't tell them, Okay, I see this, Okay, that's
- 50:31Speaker 3: sitting in cash. I'm like, I have to convert this
- 50:33Speaker 3: to an asset, not cash, because this will just continue
- 50:37Speaker 3: to be taxed. So there's a game with the tax code.
- 50:44Speaker 3: There's certain things that you can buy. A house is
- 50:47Speaker 3: not one of them. A car is not one of them.
- 50:50Speaker 3: There's a couple of cars that you can actually write
- 50:51Speaker 3: off that they're heavy.
- 50:52Speaker 6: In over sunds.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so you know that's why George Bush did that.
- 50:56Speaker 3: By the way, don't hate on George. Okay, he's the
- 50:58Speaker 3: one that pushed that sub through there because he was
- 51:00Speaker 3: tied to Exxon. So they're like, please keep the suv going,
- 51:05Speaker 3: incentivize it with taxes, and that's how they keep the
- 51:07Speaker 3: game going. The four to ones in the iras, those
- 51:10Speaker 3: are incentivized. Not for us, they're incentivized for Wall Street.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Pay people an incentive to make sure they push their
- 51:19Speaker 3: money to us, and we will own and control that
- 51:22Speaker 3: money for thirty or forty years on Wall Street and
- 51:26Speaker 3: they can hope and wait for retirement. Tonya. It's a scam.
- 51:29Speaker 3: I'm not a conspiracy guy. It's just obvious.
- 51:31Speaker 6: Right.
- 51:32Speaker 3: So there's certain parts of the tax code when they
- 51:34Speaker 3: write it, if you study it, that allow me to
- 51:37Speaker 3: go do things that takes advantage of the tax code.
- 51:40Speaker 3: This is one of them. Okay, So that that plane
- 51:44Speaker 3: if you can afford to write a check for that
- 51:46Speaker 3: plane or get a loan for that plane. That plane's
- 51:49Speaker 3: brand new, sixty one million dollars.
- 51:51Speaker 6: Okay.
- 51:52Speaker 3: So so at the end of what year was it?
- 51:55Speaker 3: By the way, the irs will see this, Okay, here
- 52:00Speaker 3: it is. It's the truth. That's how big the code is,
- 52:02Speaker 3: and that's how legal this is. So at the end
- 52:05Speaker 3: of the year, I had this big major tax bill
- 52:06Speaker 3: on my account. It calls me and says, look, you're
- 52:08Speaker 3: gonna o X. I'm like, okay, well, we're gonna do
- 52:10Speaker 3: about it. There's nothing you can do about I've looked
- 52:12Speaker 3: at everything, everything the account. It says, everything has been
- 52:16Speaker 3: looked at. I'm earning my money, bro, something can always
- 52:20Speaker 3: be done about it. Like I have used this for
- 52:22Speaker 3: thirty years. There's always something you can do about something.
- 52:26Speaker 3: And the moment you throw into talent says you can't
- 52:27Speaker 3: do anything, you just quit. So something can be done
- 52:30Speaker 3: about So I started researching. I'm like, I could buy
- 52:32Speaker 3: a plane. I could buy a plane, wipe the whole
- 52:34Speaker 3: thing out this year, the following year and in the
- 52:38Speaker 3: third year from now. So I called golf stream up
- 52:41Speaker 3: and I'm like, hey, you guys got a golf stream
- 52:42Speaker 3: five fifty. Now we don't have any of this. Sold
- 52:44Speaker 3: out for two years.
- 52:45Speaker 6: Okay.
- 52:46Speaker 3: So called him a second time. You got to go
- 52:47Speaker 3: stream five bit. No, nope, we sold out for two years.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Called the guy back in, Can you find me something?
- 52:52Speaker 3: Come on, man, I got fourteen days till the end
- 52:53Speaker 3: of the year. He's like, Grant, if I could, I would.
- 52:56Speaker 3: I want to sell you a plane. It's going to
- 52:58Speaker 3: be two years. So I went to my I said,
- 53:00Speaker 3: wire them sixty million dollars. Wired goulfstream sixty million dollars
- 53:04Speaker 3: right now, she sends the wire, hits the wire, boom,
- 53:07Speaker 3: they get it. I call Rick up, Rick, go to
- 53:09Speaker 3: your accounting department. I've done this more than once to people.
- 53:11Speaker 3: So call your accounting department and he's like, oh my god,
- 53:16Speaker 3: nobody's ever done this before. Can you find me a jet?
- 53:19Speaker 3: Rick hold on one second, calls the president of company.
- 53:21Speaker 3: They're like, we found you a jet. They delivered that
- 53:24Speaker 3: jet with three days left in the year. I wrote
- 53:26Speaker 3: off the entire jet that year.
- 53:28Speaker 6: So you got off sixty million.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yeah, oh my taxes. I wrote off what we agreed on, okay,
- 53:33Speaker 3: which was less than six okay, okay. Now the point
- 53:36Speaker 3: of The story is if you can prepay into the
- 53:39Speaker 3: future with assets, Like last year, I bought millions of
- 53:43Speaker 3: dollars of media for twenty twenty one and pay for
- 53:47Speaker 3: it in twenty twenty to reduce my tax bill in
- 53:50Speaker 3: twenty twenty to zero media advertising. So like that show
- 53:55Speaker 3: I did on a Discovery Undercover Billionaire, my ad comes
- 53:58Speaker 3: in at thirty seconds. Okay, it's a thirty second ad.
- 54:01Speaker 3: I paid them a million dollars in December, so just
- 54:05Speaker 3: for the whole I wrote it off for. I wrote
- 54:07Speaker 3: it off for last year. Yeah, to reduce my tax.
- 54:09Speaker 6: But you paid in advance for this year.
- 54:11Speaker 3: And it already paid for it going forward.
- 54:13Speaker 6: It's like if somebody wanted to run an add on
- 54:14Speaker 6: or your legion, it.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Was dude, just dump it man. They owned dump it.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Like at the in December, we still calling people, man,
- 54:19Speaker 3: pre pay for next year.
- 54:20Speaker 5: So when you paid sixty million for this jet, how
- 54:23Speaker 5: are you using it for the next three years? Is
- 54:24Speaker 5: because the maintenance of it?
- 54:25Speaker 3: Well no, no, so well still I don't own the
- 54:27Speaker 3: jet right the jet's mind. So what I'm doing is is,
- 54:31Speaker 3: let's say my tax bill that year was thirty million. Yeah,
- 54:33Speaker 3: my tax bill went to zero. Right this next year,
- 54:36Speaker 3: I still had thirty million left.
- 54:38Speaker 6: Right next year, income gotch So the.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Game is just so everybody understands, Like, my job, My
- 54:44Speaker 3: goal is to reduce my tax bill a zero or
- 54:46Speaker 3: below every year. I don't feel bad about it. Anybody
- 54:50Speaker 3: hates on me because I don't want to pay taxes,
- 54:52Speaker 3: hate on me. I'm gonna figure out how not to
- 54:54Speaker 3: pay these fools.
- 54:55Speaker 6: Okay.
- 54:56Speaker 3: On the other hand, I have a billion two billion
- 54:59Speaker 3: dollars worth of real estate. Did I pay taxes on
- 55:01Speaker 3: every year? That's forty million in property taxes. I have
- 55:04Speaker 3: five hundred employees. I pay taxes on these people, right,
- 55:07Speaker 3: we produce and buy a lot of things. I'm paying
- 55:09Speaker 3: plenty of taxes. There's like, how many different taxes are
- 55:11Speaker 3: the income taxes, state taxes, purchase taxes, vehicle taxes, capital
- 55:17Speaker 3: games tax gets, sick taxes, taxes, state tax argue taxes,
- 55:22Speaker 3: and state taxes.
- 55:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 55:25Speaker 3: I'm like, every time I look around, they're trying to
- 55:27Speaker 3: tax me.
- 55:29Speaker 6: So your goal is to pay zero taxes.
- 55:32Speaker 3: Play the game. Play the game. I told you if
- 55:35Speaker 3: I could ever become a diplomat, I sell everything I have. Yeah. Sure,
- 55:40Speaker 3: So the reason these guys, take me.
- 55:43Speaker 6: Can we rephrase it?
- 55:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 55:44Speaker 6: Yeah, mister ambassador, can you.
- 55:45Speaker 3: Talk about I took the job. I really care about
- 55:50Speaker 3: the Dominican Republic. I've been connected to the Dominica Republic
- 55:54Speaker 3: for years when I was in a cruise lineer. Once,
- 55:57Speaker 3: Hey there's the Dominican republiccy So yeah, there's my receipt.
- 56:03Speaker 3: So when a guy gets a job in a cabinet
- 56:07Speaker 3: position with the US government, okay, like the guy that
- 56:10Speaker 3: did last year. His name's Tillman or something with excellent.
- 56:14Speaker 3: He left the CEO job. He had billions of dollars
- 56:17Speaker 3: with the assets. If he cashed out everything he had,
- 56:20Speaker 3: he would have paid hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes. Instead,
- 56:24Speaker 3: he took a job on Trump's cabinet. At that moment
- 56:27Speaker 3: they wipe out his tax bill, he could sell everything
- 56:30Speaker 3: and walk away, walk away.
- 56:32Speaker 6: With the bag. And that's only while you're actually a diplomat.
- 56:34Speaker 3: No, no, you're good.
- 56:35Speaker 6: Perpetuity, well, no, he's good.
- 56:37Speaker 3: No, No, I don't think it's perpetued while you're actually while
- 56:39Speaker 3: you're but he'll cash out at that moment, he'll now
- 56:43Speaker 3: rather than having let's say he had five billion, rather
- 56:48Speaker 3: than having half that. He has five billion to work
- 56:51Speaker 3: with because he would have probably paid half that in taxes.
- 56:53Speaker 3: He has a whole five billion to work with the
- 56:55Speaker 3: rest of his career.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Let he say it's two point five billion. Even if
- 56:59Speaker 5: there's the state, is I think.
- 57:02Speaker 3: Or something you know, got all this power, all these connections.
- 57:05Speaker 3: The point is everybody needs to learn the games.
- 57:08Speaker 6: Man.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Don't hate on the game. Don't hate on the player.
- 57:10Speaker 6: That's the real diplomatic community.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, facts, exactly.
- 57:14Speaker 6: So going back to real estate, do you feel like
- 57:17Speaker 6: it's a real estate crisis about to happen? You talked
- 57:19Speaker 6: about how many people as go to work.
- 57:21Speaker 3: I think there's a real estate crisis about to happen.
- 57:23Speaker 6: Who's gonna hurt.
- 57:24Speaker 3: It's gonna hurt single family owns.
- 57:26Speaker 6: Not multi in the middle, in the middle, not multi family.
- 57:28Speaker 3: No, it's gonna do everybody.
- 57:31Speaker 6: Like you said, it stays like New York. Right, Yeah,
- 57:33Speaker 6: you can't. You can't to kick somebody.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Hell, you shouldn't be in New York. I've been telling
- 57:37Speaker 3: people for years. Man, you got to stay away from
- 57:40Speaker 3: places where you don't own the property. Like you don't
- 57:44Speaker 3: own the property, you don't own it. If you owned it,
- 57:47Speaker 3: you can get people out of your place. Like my house,
- 57:51Speaker 3: my kids start acting up, I kick him out. I'm like,
- 57:55Speaker 3: you got got to get out of here now. Okay,
- 57:58Speaker 3: the moment the law says, I can't kick my kid out,
- 58:00Speaker 3: I don't own the house anymore.
- 58:01Speaker 6: They do.
- 58:03Speaker 3: Same thing with the tenants. So you guys that own homes,
- 58:06Speaker 3: I mean, I know a bunch of people in New
- 58:07Speaker 3: York that own stuff. They're scared right now.
- 58:09Speaker 6: The banks are scared up.
- 58:10Speaker 3: There because if I can't collect the rent, I can't
- 58:13Speaker 3: pay the mortgage. And then what happens is the whole
- 58:15Speaker 3: neighborhood goes down. When the shopping center down the street
- 58:18Speaker 3: goes blank because nobody, the beauty salon, the restaurant, the
- 58:22Speaker 3: bar aren't open. It hurts all the whole neighborhood. Everybody
- 58:25Speaker 3: gets brutalized by this. So like, I just I lived
- 58:30Speaker 3: in California twenty five years. I left there when they
- 58:32Speaker 3: started their foolishness of raising taxes. I'm like, when they
- 58:35Speaker 3: raise taxes, they should have lowered them. If they'd have
- 58:36Speaker 3: lowered them, people they had rolled in there and spent
- 58:39Speaker 3: more money. But so you got to invest in real
- 58:43Speaker 3: estate where you're protected, will you own it, you can
- 58:45Speaker 3: control it, the tenant, the landlord, the owner of the company.
- 58:49Speaker 6: Landlord friendly states.
- 58:50Speaker 3: Landlord friendly where they respect property ownership.
- 58:53Speaker 5: So that was your strategy, because I know you've invested
- 58:56Speaker 5: in multiple states. You're going into it thinking like, Yo,
- 58:58Speaker 5: I need to be in a state protected as.
- 59:00Speaker 3: An owner, property protected, landlord friendly, taxas friendly. Look where
- 59:07Speaker 3: I'm invested in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Southeast, all that northern,
- 59:13Speaker 3: all that ice, those ice states are all going to
- 59:16Speaker 3: migrate this way. It's happening now.
- 59:18Speaker 6: Yeah. And a lot of companies in corporations are leaving too.
- 59:21Speaker 6: Oh yeah, So TENANX, Let's talk about the Tennant conference, right,
- 59:25Speaker 6: you have a vision the big man Tennight's conference is
- 59:30Speaker 6: like a rock star. You've turned into a financial rock
- 59:33Speaker 6: star of sorts, and you have like twenty thousand people,
- 59:37Speaker 6: thirty thousand people. You're bringing Rick Ross and Kevin Hard
- 59:39Speaker 6: out and snoop snoop. Yeah, it's a whole it's a
- 59:43Speaker 6: whole situation for sure.
- 59:45Speaker 3: Uh sure, come on, man, keep dropping you dropping them.
- 59:48Speaker 3: I don't have to.
- 59:48Speaker 6: So what's your Floyd shot out to the Floyd Steve Harvey,
- 59:51Speaker 6: you need him on the show.
- 59:52Speaker 3: Steve Harvey, you know another guy that means some freaking like.
- 59:55Speaker 6: What's so, what's the what? What was the plan? What
- 59:57Speaker 6: was the plan? And putting that together that you say, Okay,
- 59:59Speaker 6: I don't I want to just do a financial literacy tool.
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: I don't want to do it. I want to do
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: mix all of these different things and like how does
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: that come in.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: I want to erase the line between entertainment and business
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: because I think that I think that you know, my
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: wife's an actress, right, and I said, you got to
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: get out of this actress thing, and she's like, well,
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: that's what I am. I said, you need to get
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: out of the acting thing. It's it's a garbage business.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: You need to get on this side. And she's like, well,
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: you're a businessman. I said no, no, I'm acting like
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: a businessman, okay, because they ain't no money in acting.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: So so I'm out of the acting thing. I'm going
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: to be a businessman and I'm gonna make his famous
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: because because I think that that money follows entertainment, and
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: the problem with education is education is terribly boring and
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: nobody wants to watch it. I mean, Grandpa, look at Grandpa. Okay,
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Grandpa said, okay, because he's a tool of Wall Street.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: His sponsors are Wall Street driven and Big Pharma. You know,
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: save your money, son, save you money, save you money,
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: save you money, save you money, save you money. I
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: don't want to save my money, dude, I want to
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: use money. Money is useless until it is used. So
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: I told my wife twelve years ago, I said, look, quit,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: quit that damn career. I'll make you famous and boom
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: Facebook and Instagram and YouTube. She's like, how are you
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: going to do that? I said, look, look at all this,
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: We're gonna do it. And then when I got into
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: a position where people started paying attention to my message,
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: I was able to start bringing some of these super
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: superstars together and they resonate with the idea of financial literacy,
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: have fun, entertainment and education.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: So was there I mean, you have a basch list
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: of people that you interviewed. Was there an entertainer that
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: surprised you with how much business have you that they act?
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Kevin hart Man, Kevin Kevin's He's a base and it's
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: easy to be with the guy, like like other guys
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: are a little little stiffer, you know, like if they
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: if they're big on movies and their script and their scripts,
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: they're harder to interview, like interviewing for me, what you
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: guys are doing right now? That's I would rather be
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: on this side than your side. I didn't need an interview.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Did I hate it? Do you hate it?
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: No? I love it. I mean we're so used to it.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Man, you guys good at it numbers. I would rather
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: talk to twenty thousand people do a deliber a message
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: than than do an interview.
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: One thing you said that really resonated with me months ago.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Never waste a good crisis, never, man, never waste a
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: good crisis, was a legendary quote. Right, what do you
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: mean by that?
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Two thousand and eight I wasted. I wasn't in a
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: position to go on offense. And in two thousand and eight,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: that was twelve years ago. Thirteen years ago, two thousand
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: and eight happened. Two businesses got cut in half. The
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: two companies I had got cut in half. My real
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: estate got frozen. The bank I owed fifty million two
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: went under like it was terrible, and I was sitting
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: there like I couldn't do anything. I was terrified, and
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: I told my wife In two thousand and eight. I said,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: the next time this happens, we'll have a billion dollars.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: Other day, okay, we had fifty million, I said, we'll
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: have twenty times and I'll have I won't have four
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: hundred units, We'll have four thousand. We had nine thousand.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: And the next time we're gonna go, we're gonna go
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: eat stuff like like a humpback whale eats krill, and
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: we're gonna go gobble stuff up. Because this is what
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: these giants do. They take advantage of crisis and problems
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: and opportunities. And so if you can't be on offense,
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: and you can't stay on the state, stay on the field,
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: you can't win. And most crisis send everybody back to
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: the bleachers. And I say, go bigg or go oh man,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: go bigger. Never go home, man, ain't nothing. Home is
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: when you had your ass, will like I'm going home,
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: and shit, I had my ass going home. Mama, Mama
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: loved me. So I never go home. Man, I go bigger,
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: go bigger, because if you go big enough, if you
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: go big enough this time. The last time, when the
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: economy failed, the banks called my life. So we need
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: the money this time Okay, I owe twenty times more money,
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: thirty times more money, and the banks called and said,
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: we'd like to help you through this. So when you
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: get big enough, you got partners. When you stay small,
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: ain't nobody.
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: Gonna help you undercover billionaire? So what is the deal
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: with that? I actually read that you guys had stopped
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: for a little bit because you wasn't happy that they
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: rolled it out during the presidential transition.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Well, there's a lot of things I'm not happy about, okay.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: So me and Discovery been fighting since the get go,
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: since February last.
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: Year, so you know, not really feeling that situation.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: I mean, I'm feeling it, but so are they. They're like, God,
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: damn man, this guy's loud, you know. So look, four
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: days into the shoot, I got dropped off in a
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: town called Publo, Colorado, plane Lands. I've never been there.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: I can't use my name, shaved my head, look like
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: you had a beard growing out of ray in it.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: They dropped me off in a town with the average
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: income I think household income is twenty four thousand dollars.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Like the town's beat up. If you got any of
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: you saw the show. They dropped two girls off into
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Tacoma and Fresno. They dropped me off from Pueblo. You
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: look at those three towns from a satellite image, You're like,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I don't want that one. You can tell what Bublo is.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: There's nothing there. So four days into the deal, I
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: hit the ground. They give me one hundred bucks. They said,
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: what's the first thing you're gonna do when you get
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: to town. I need to go to the bank. They said,
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: why you only got one hundred dollars. So I said,
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I know, I'm gonna get rid of it. And they're like,
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: what do you mean. I said, I don't need this
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: hundred dollars. I'm gonna get rid of the hundred. I
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: want to go to zero as fast as I can.
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Number two, I need to go work out. I need
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: to go to a gym. They're like, why would you
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: go to a gym? You know, I'm like, because there's
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: people there and I need people because I don't have
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: any money. And the third place I'm gonna go to
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: is some businesses for sale. That's the first three things
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: I did when I got to the town. For the
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: next four days. You guys don't actually see it because
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: the way they cut it on the fourth day, Discovery
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: has a manager were meeting with me and says, hey,
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: on the fourth morning, they said, you had an appointment
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: this morning at nine. We're holding it off. We need
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: to meet with you. And they get on this zoom
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: call and they're like, look, if you continue like this,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: we're going to pull the plug.
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: So you were just going to roll.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: I was going, man like, look, you're putting people in danger.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: The crew hate you. People are fighting. We've already had
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: two people quit. I'm like, so, but what the fuck
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: why are we having a meeting about this ship? And
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: they're like, what do you mean you don't care. I'm like, look,
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: a month and a half ago, I had a meeting
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: with you guys in l A. Okay. I sat across
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: from the president of Discovery, okay, and I had it
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: back just like this. My bag is only my bag
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: only make fifty three pounds, that's what a.
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: Million dollars whatever it is.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Whatever. Theuers are cars. I don't even like these people.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: So we've been fighting now since February shooting that show,
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: and we're still fighting. So what's happening right now is
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: they pulled it off the TV partially because of the
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: capital was burnt down.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: You've made no secret that you've taken losses before, and
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: perseverance is obviously one of your best traits. What is
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: you know? I don't know, and maybe you can answer this.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: It's to perseverance. Something that can be taught is you
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: have to learn these lessons that's actually going through.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Dude. If I don't, if I if I quit, then
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: I then I got to start all over again, Like
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I just do the math I quitting, and if I quit,
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: I got to start it. Like you can't really quit.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: There's no way to quit the game. And and because
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: the moment you quit, you just got to start over again.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Like if you quit a marathon then you wanted to
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: finish one, You're gonna be sitting there the whole time
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: thinking I quit, And so I wanted to quit. Undercover
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: millionaire for ninety days, day for ninety days. Call my
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: wife every day, I'm quitting today. She's like, you ain't quitting.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: She's like, you ain't quitting. You got to do this.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: You got to prove to people. You got to prove
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: to people that you can do this and that they
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: can do it. And you know the idea that you
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: need money to make money. It's not true. You just
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: do not need it. And I literally that that one
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: hundred dollars. I never spent one hundred dollars the entire time.
- 1:08:24Speaker 6: I was going to ask you, why did you go
- 1:08:25Speaker 6: to the bank? What did you do?
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: What you said to get rid of the hundred?
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: So how did you get rid of it?
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: I said, deposit it? Oh, I got it, started checking account.
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: So you just didn't want the temptation of having I don't.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Want the hundred. I don't want to be a manager.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: I got one hundred dollars. I'm gonna be him. I'm
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: gonna manage one hundred dollars. I don't want to watch
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: I got to manage it. I mean the best thing
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: about that show was I didn't have my stuff with me,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: because you don't have to manage it. I didn't have
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: a plane, didn't have my watch, didn't have my credit cards,
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: didn't have cash. Dude, all you got, all you got
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: is you, and when all you got is you get
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: you get to meet you. I got to meet all
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: of me. Okay, I had a different name, and I
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: have my shade, but I got to meet my courage,
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: my commitment, my creativity, my persistence my note quit Like,
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: you know, I'm a beast when you put me up
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: against the wall.
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: What's one last question before we wrap? What's your strategy
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: on marketing? Because you've you've branded yourself, done a great job. Yeah,
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: thank you, thank you, thanks And you put out content
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: out of rapid patient all the time.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Thank you. Thanks.
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: So what is your content strategy? What's your strategy on marketing?
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: The story that I told you about Nancy is a
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: marketing move. Okay, it's not. It really wasn't about discovery.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: It really wasn't about the million dollars. Okay, it was
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: a marketing You to market, you have to have stories.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: And so what I do is I create stories. There's
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: a story man, you know, filling up Miami Marland Stadium.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I put thirty four thousand people in there on Super
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: Bowl weekend twenty seventeen. People like, why would you do
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: that weekend? Because I know what I'm doing though, Okay,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: because it's a story and stories mythology. If you stories,
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: big stories, big stories keep being told and they get
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: bigger and bigger and bigger over time. So you know,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I spent I think we spent ten million dollars to
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: rent Miami Marland Stadium Marketing send out four hundred million
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: emails four hundred million, now four hundred thousand million, four
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: hundred million emails in one year to a list to
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: fill that stadium up on Super Bowl weekend. Steve Harvey
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: came and spoke and he's like, dude, who are you man? Like? What? What?
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: Who? Who?
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: In their right mind? By the way, he's a he's
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: a you know, he's a very church got god believing man.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Until until he gets behind the stage he starts, who
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: are you man? Who in their right mind would rent
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: a stadium on Super Bowl weekend and think that they
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: could fill it up? And you're not jay Z and
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: you're not Beyonce for three days to teach people about
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: money and business. And I'm like, dude, I did it
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: to tell a story because from now on, Grant Cartleton's
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: the guy that filled up that stadium on two thousand
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: and seventeen. So that's part of the marketing game. The
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: marketing game. You can't just have ads. You gotta I
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: gotta have a story.
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: Now that's a gym what you just said. That's why.
- 1:11:09Speaker 6: So we just got those two kids, I got, Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: then they're not yours. No, biologically, they're not mine at all.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: It's a story, man, I read it.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: I want to say you're doing it's like a natural's weird.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Shown you're willing to go for McGregor, you're willing to
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: go places that other people are.
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: These ain't no. But so we got a truck, right,
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: an eighteen wheeler. Yeah, and you know it was it's
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: our first truck from New York. So we're not into trucking.
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: Shout out to Alex. Then this guy he got in
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: the truck. So long story short, we got the truck
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: and we're gonna put the truck on the road, but
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: I'm like, we gotta wrap it first. So are Low
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: goes a little different. It's like emojis. So when you
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: saw like us with Dave Ramsey and it's like you
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: see two young black guys with emojis in the top
- 1:12:07Speaker 6: three business, It's like, you know, it's interesting. So I'm like,
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: we're gonna put ERNR lesion on and wrap it. We
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: all agree to it, but it was taken a while.
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: So one of my other friends was like, let's just
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: put it on the road first and let's not worry
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: about it. I'm like, no, no, No, we can't put on
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: a road before he wrap it because we got to
- 1:12:22Speaker 6: take pictures of this document and put it on Instagram
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: because I know what that's gonna do. It becomes a story.
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: A lot of people have trucks, A lot of people
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: don't have emojis on the truck yet, yeah have this.
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: So when we put it on there and then it
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: goes viral like oh this is crazy. So now the
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: truck is cool, but the marketing and the building of
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: the brand, now it becomes bigger than just a one
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: eighteen wheeler. It becomes like, this is crazy. What's your
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: best marketing player? You ever did?
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: What's the best marketing player?
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Man, it's got my name on it everything, right, you
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: can't miss it. So here's a good one. Well that's
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: what I was going to pull up. Okay, so like, uh,
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: this is coming. You know, these are investments, right. I
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: get to write it up and I get to use
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: it in the marketing. So we'll put people in that.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: Everybody's gonna take pictures of it. That takes money, man,
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: you know Instagram and Facebook. YouTube is my best Like
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: YouTube is my boy, Like you know, it's my little brother.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: I love you. Take everything away from me? Do not
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: take much? Did my YouTube from me?
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: Man?
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: My YouTube? Like I love YouTube because you know why?
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: Because it keeps building.
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Yeah, digital real estate, digital real estate, shout the n X.
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, it's a good friend of ours as well.
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: My friends with everybody.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: I'll say, YouTube, you ain't friends with everybody, man.
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: Basically almost we're getting there.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Okay, you got you gotta have some haters, man, you
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: got to have some people that you're up against.
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: You know, you ain't hating you, ain't. They ain't.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: They ain't hating you. They don't know you.
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: They don't know you.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: Because you know, people that want to be you will
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: hate you. People to give up on the things you
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: want will definitely definitely hate you for having the things
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: they want and quit on perfect because that's just, you know,
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: people just immature.
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: So where do you go from here? What's your ten
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: twenty year playing? What's your vision going forward to one hundred?
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: Exiss thing?
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: I just want to live longer than my body does. Man.
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: You want to live your legacy? Yeah?
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I want to outlive my body. So I
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: just want to contribute. I want to I want to
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: be an uncle to people of all colors. I wanted
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: to be to be. I always wanted to be accepted
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: by everybody when I was a kid, and I didn't care.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: I just wanted friends. I wanted friends, I wanted mentors.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: I didn't care. I liked the girls a lot, but really, really,
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: when I wasn't with the girls, I wanted the guys.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: I wanted to be buddies. I wanted to have fun.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: I wanted to be part of something, you know, And
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: I wanted to make a difference. And I wanted somebody
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: to help me, and nobody would. So my dad wasn't
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: around my older brother. I lost my older brother when
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: I was twenty, so two mentors my guys dropped out.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: My dad was fifty two, my brother was twenty five.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: I was ten and twenty and then I just kept
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: looking for mentors. I went to school to find mentors.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: I went to college to get mentors. I wanted my
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: uncles to step up. They never did. And so one
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: day I was like, man, I'm gonna make something to
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: myself and I'm gonna be an uncle to other people.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: So that's why people call me Uncle g Now.
- 1:15:23Speaker 6: I like Uncle Dave.
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: Now I got a question about balance because I know
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: you said you were working two hundred and fifty six
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: days after the year. What's that like now as far
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: as the work life balance, I know you got the
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: two girls.
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: How's that?
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Yeah? So today it's like, you know, what I've done
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: is now create a life where I get to bring
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: them with me, my little rentals and you know, I
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: get to bring people with me like like literally, I
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: fund I quit just doing the business and started figuring
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: out what do I need to fund my life? And
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: I used to do budget. It's like any budget I've
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: ever done, and I think most Americans know this, any
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: budget you do, you could probably get close to that budget.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Your house, your electricity, your water. I just started adding stuff. Okay,
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: I need help, I need security, I need a nanny.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: I want a homeschool. I need a bird. I want
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: a helicopter. I want I want I want an island.
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: Shit.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: You know who's gonna pay for my shit? Okay, So
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: who's got my money? That's my battle cry. Who's got
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: my money? Who's got my island, Who's got my ranch?
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Who's got my charity? We got We've got about three
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: million dollars sitting in a charity account. We'll dump out
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: this year and I'll I'll hit it with another five
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: or ten million this year, so that charity is for
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: kids without fathers. And who's got Who's got it? I don't.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: I only have limited funds. Who's got my jet fuel?
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: You know who's got whatever I want? It's a contact man.
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Business and money are contact sports.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: Are you buy an island right right? Think about it?
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: Maybe cash ranch or an island the island you think
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: island over?
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: You wanna go big? You wanna go big man. You're
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: talking about ten in it, bro, you can put everything.
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: It's a big between ranch in an island.
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: We'll be shooting the next episode.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Then it's pretty it's pretty sweet. The problem with the
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: problem with the island is I have I don't get
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: the same tax deductions I get out of the ranch,
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: So I gotta consider all that I put some cattle
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: on that ranch, I can write it off your boat.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: I like's ranch. Yeah, Grant, it's been a pleasure.
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: Man. You guys are awesome. Okay, best interview I've ever
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: done in here and.
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: There you have it. There, you have it, biggest in
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: the gang biggas in the game. What would you what
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: would you what would you like to tell the people?
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Now? Look, look, all I want to tell you, like
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: is if there's anything that I said today that that like,
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: like kind of like, God, you didn't like that, take
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: another look at it. If there's anything that bothered you
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: that I said, take another look at what I said,
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: because it might be something just hitting so close own
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: that you need to pay attention to it. Number two,
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: You know, I had a lot of fun with these guys.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: You know, I want to make sure there's the best
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: podcast in the world, better than mine, so better than everybody's. Like,
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: I'm a very collaborative person. I want to like, I
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: want to flow a lot of power to a lot
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: of people. I was doing a gig. I'll tell you
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: one another little story. I was doing a gig once
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: and we were about seven thousand people there, and there
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: was a promoter that was with me and one of
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: my guys took a selfie with one of the one
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: of the the guests, and the guy, Bill z Ancher says, Man,
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: don't do that, man, you don't take don't take selfies
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: with the audience that needs to be grand And I'm like, dude,
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: are you kidding? Man? Yeah, Man, he's the star. You
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: can't take selfies. You can't take shots of stars the star.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: I'm like, Bro, there's a universe of stars. Man shit,
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: I don't want to be the only star.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: Bro.
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: When my team shines bright, I get brighter. So I
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: don't want to be the brightest star. I don't want
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: to be the only star. I don't want to be
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: by myself. I played that game for the first fifty
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: years my life, and I'm done with it. I want
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: to play with other people. All walks of life. Love diversity.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I like culture. I like your stories because white people
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: are boring. They're boring, bro boring stories bullshit, Like it's
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: so much bullshit. Come talking about their country clubs and
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: their kids and this, and that your kids are fucked
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: up because you're boring. Okay, So I just love people
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: from all walks of life. We did nineteen countries in
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: twenty nineteen. Man, I learned about so many different cultures
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: people in Dubai, Singapore, Iran. There was one hundred people
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: from Iran came to Debai to listen to me. Like,
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: I'm like, so, I just like inclusion, and I want
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: everybody to do well financially too. That's the other thing man,
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: this financial game. You got to figure this game out.
