- 1:03SPEAKER_08: We like to apologize.
- 1:06SPEAKER_08: Because I'm gonna wipe my nose.
- 1:09SPEAKER_16: That's attractive.
- 1:10SPEAKER_08: Thank you.
- 1:11SPEAKER_16: That's why people tune into this podcast.
- 1:14SPEAKER_16: They're like, ah, they cough and fart and blow their nose on the.
- 1:18SPEAKER_16: I didn't blow.
- 1:18SPEAKER_08: I didn't blow my nose.
- 1:19SPEAKER_08: I know.
- 1:20SPEAKER_08: I'm just wiping out.
- 1:23SPEAKER_16: Yes, I mean it's it's very, it's very endearing.
- 1:26SPEAKER_08: It's very noticeable.
- 1:28SPEAKER_08: It's very sexy too.
- 1:29SPEAKER_08: No, we would like to apologize because uh although it should have posted anyway, our our last episode, episode 211, did not go to the um podcast platforms.
- 1:43SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_08: Because well, we couldn't figure out why.
- 1:47SPEAKER_08: Um I did have the link correct, so people did hear it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_08: Um but I had the well I had the time wrong to post the the podcast, but I had the date okay, so it should have posted that night, right?
- 2:07SPEAKER_08: Because I had the wrong time.
- 2:08SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 2:09SPEAKER_08: So I'm not sure why it didn't go to the podcast platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all that stuff at all.
- 2:18SPEAKER_08: It didn't go there at all.
- 2:19SPEAKER_16: Nothing.
- 2:20SPEAKER_08: So it was like it didn't happen.
- 2:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it did happen.
- 2:22SPEAKER_08: It did happen, but it didn't happen.
- 2:24SPEAKER_08: And people did listen to it because we post the link on Facebook and people, you know, people either listen to it or download or downloaded it or streamed it or whatever.
- 2:31SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 2:31SPEAKER_08: So so it did happen.
- 2:33SPEAKER_08: It just didn't go to podcast platforms, and I'm not sure why, but maybe we'll figure that out at some point.
- 2:38SPEAKER_08: But we're gonna make it.
- 2:39SPEAKER_16: I think Buzz Sprout owes us an explanation.
- 2:42SPEAKER_08: I think they do too.
- 2:44SPEAKER_16: I'm waiting.
- 2:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I I it had to be something on their end, right?
- 2:50SPEAKER_08: Because it said even if I got the time wrong, it said.
- 2:55SPEAKER_16: Well it said September 10th at 10 p.m.
- 2:57SPEAKER_08: 9 p.m.
- 2:57SPEAKER_16: Oh, nine p.m.
- 2:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, but still.
- 2:59SPEAKER_16: We usually post Yeah, but we we didn't get done recording last week until late.
- 3:05SPEAKER_16: So maybe maybe it was like, oh, it you guys have already gone by the time.
- 3:11SPEAKER_08: No, September 10th was Thursday, right?
- 3:13SPEAKER_16: No, September 10th was the day we was last Tuesday.
- 3:17SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 3:18SPEAKER_08: I was thinking September 10th was the Thursday.
- 3:21SPEAKER_16: No.
- 3:22SPEAKER_16: It was supposed to go September twelfth.
- 3:24SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 3:25SPEAKER_16: So I think maybe what happened was because we you know I got we downloaded it after nine.
- 3:31SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_16: So it was like, oh, you well, it's already gone by, so we're not gonna post it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_08: So it's our fault.
- 3:37unknown: Yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 3:38SPEAKER_16: So Buzz Sprout, you're off the hook.
- 3:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you're off the hook.
- 3:41SPEAKER_08: So don't even worry about reaching out.
- 3:43SPEAKER_16: I'm not waiting for you to do.
- 3:44SPEAKER_08: Don't reach out to us.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: We're good.
- 3:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're okay.
- 3:46SPEAKER_08: We're idiots.
- 3:47SPEAKER_08: It's our fault.
- 3:48SPEAKER_16: We're not gonna demand our money back or anything.
- 3:50SPEAKER_08: So uh so before we go any further, fantasy football's going okay.
- 3:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you're in first place.
- 3:58SPEAKER_08: I'm in first place.
- 3:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah, which is that never happens.
- 4:00SPEAKER_08: Rare.
- 4:00SPEAKER_16: That never happens.
- 4:01SPEAKER_16: I'm always like I think mid to end of the, you know, end of the line.
- 4:06SPEAKER_08: And and is is Jude even up in the top four?
- 4:09SPEAKER_16: No, he's in the he's in the bottom half.
- 4:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah, what is weird?
- 4:12SPEAKER_08: What is it?
- 4:13SPEAKER_16: It's a weird year, I'm telling you.
- 4:14SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 4:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 4:16SPEAKER_16: So I don't know what's going on.
- 4:17SPEAKER_16: I mean, it'll it'll write the ship will write itself eventually.
- 4:20SPEAKER_16: Sure.
- 4:20SPEAKER_16: And I'll end up, you know, down, and Jude will rise to the top uh eventually.
- 4:26SPEAKER_08: I find it so funny.
- 4:27SPEAKER_08: I got uh trade um requests from Eli, a couple of them.
- 4:31SPEAKER_08: He's like, Do you want Christian McCaffrey?
- 4:33SPEAKER_08: And I was like, Well, yeah, I want Christian McCaffrey.
- 4:36SPEAKER_08: And I said, For who?
- 4:37SPEAKER_08: And he said, Saquon Barkley and somebody else.
- 4:39SPEAKER_08: And then I, of course, I'm not stupid.
- 4:41SPEAKER_08: I went and looked, and and McCaffrey's out for like six or eight weeks.
- 4:46SPEAKER_08: So I said, No, dude, he's he's he's out.
- 4:49SPEAKER_08: And Eli's like, Oh, darn it.
- 4:51SPEAKER_08: I thought you wouldn't do that research.
- 4:54SPEAKER_15: What do you expect, right?
- 4:56SPEAKER_15: Oh, it's Christian McCaffrey.
- 4:57SPEAKER_15: Yeah, I'll take him.
- 4:58SPEAKER_15: No, okay.
- 5:00SPEAKER_15: Wait a minute.
- 5:02SPEAKER_08: It's cool to have uh cousin Larry in the mix there.
- 5:04SPEAKER_16: Well, that's fun.
- 5:05SPEAKER_16: I I love it this year because there's so many more people playing.
- 5:08SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_16: It makes it a little more interesting.
- 5:10SPEAKER_16: And Olivia's in the top four.
- 5:12SPEAKER_16: Uh not anymore.
- 5:13SPEAKER_16: No.
- 5:13SPEAKER_16: She's number she's fifth now.
- 5:15SPEAKER_16: She's fifth now.
- 5:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah, which is still pretty good.
- 5:16SPEAKER_16: Didn't I?
- 5:17SPEAKER_08: I just I thought I just is the girl.
- 5:19SPEAKER_08: So I thought I just looked at it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, it says you won.
- 5:23SPEAKER_08: Now how do I get out of the sea?
- 5:25SPEAKER_16: Just just I will tell you go back, go back.
- 5:28SPEAKER_08: Go back?
- 5:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_08: I will tell you I don't have a back button.
- 5:33SPEAKER_16: You know?
- 5:33SPEAKER_08: No.
- 5:35SPEAKER_16: I don't know.
- 5:36SPEAKER_16: Close the app and restart it.
- 5:37SPEAKER_08: I will tell you that um the app has been acting funny.
- 5:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it's been it's been a pain in the butt all season.
- 5:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah when I I was having a problem with uh apparently you know punt re punt return yards, we're getting one point for every five yards when everybody else was getting one point for every ten yards.
- 5:57SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 5:57SPEAKER_16: And Bob called it out and I kept trying to fix it and it wouldn't fix, wouldn't fix.
- 6:02SPEAKER_16: Finally I got it fixed, so I I think it's I think it's good now, but it sucks being the commissioner.
- 6:09SPEAKER_08: I'm number four.
- 6:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I think Olivia's five.
- 6:12SPEAKER_08: Five, yeah.
- 6:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so it's you, Eli, and then Johnny B and then me.
- 6:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 6:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 6:18SPEAKER_16: Yeah, we're we're the top four, so yeah, that won't last.
- 6:20SPEAKER_16: No.
- 6:21SPEAKER_16: Like I said, it will the ship will write itself.
- 6:23SPEAKER_08: I just I just was looking at um I was looking at Jude, because I'm playing Jude this week.
- 6:29SPEAKER_09: Mm-hmm.
- 6:30SPEAKER_08: And he I I, you know, because you know, I optimize, make sure all the all my players are you know good and and I was beating I was gonna beat projected to beat him, which means nothing really, but I was projected to beat him by like twenty points.
- 6:44SPEAKER_08: And then I just looked at it and now I'm projected to beat him by two points.
- 6:49SPEAKER_08: So he's done some maneuver.
- 6:50SPEAKER_16: So he yeah, yeah.
- 6:51SPEAKER_16: Yeah, Jude's a player, yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_16: He knows what he's doing.
- 6:55SPEAKER_16: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah, for sure.
- 6:56SPEAKER_08: So uh let's see, what else?
- 6:58SPEAKER_16: Oh, we had our first rehearsal for Haystack Union.
- 7:02SPEAKER_16: Yeah, we did.
- 7:03SPEAKER_16: Although I'm gonna say I like Joel's name better.
- 7:06SPEAKER_16: I do, well, you know, I do too.
- 7:10SPEAKER_16: It's much more country.
- 7:13SPEAKER_08: What was it?
- 7:14SPEAKER_16: Uh JC Morton and the Pale Riders.
- 7:16SPEAKER_08: JC Morton and the Pale Riders.
- 7:18SPEAKER_16: I think that's great.
- 7:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but that to me that sounds like we're a Western band.
- 7:22SPEAKER_16: I don't care, man.
- 7:23SPEAKER_16: It's more it's it's very country.
- 7:25SPEAKER_16: I like it.
- 7:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:26SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 7:27SPEAKER_08: I kind of like Haystack Union.
- 7:29SPEAKER_16: I mean, I like them both, but you know, Haystack, I'm like Pale Riders.
- 7:32SPEAKER_08: How'd you think it went?
- 7:33SPEAKER_08: I know well actually I know how you think it went because you're very critical of yourself.
- 7:37SPEAKER_16: I suck monkey butt.
- 7:38SPEAKER_08: So, you know.
- 7:39SPEAKER_08: I thought uh I have a nice blister on my finger from you've been playing from that one night or from from barring chords.
- 7:45SPEAKER_08: Just the one night, or you've been playing.
- 7:48SPEAKER_16: I've been trying to practice, but you know, fingers are stupid and don't want to blisters on my fingers.
- 7:54SPEAKER_16: Don't want to form chords.
- 7:58SPEAKER_08: So you'll get there.
- 8:00SPEAKER_08: Don't beat yourself up.
- 8:02SPEAKER_08: You'll get there.
- 8:02SPEAKER_08: Um I gotta say, uh Jordan sounded great.
- 8:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah, she's she's a great singer.
- 8:08SPEAKER_08: Great singer, yeah.
- 8:09SPEAKER_08: Yep, great singer.
- 8:10SPEAKER_08: And who knew Sarah could sing?
- 8:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah, right.
- 8:13SPEAKER_08: Well, I knew Sarah could sing, but I didn't know that she could sing like that.
- 8:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah, she's great.
- 8:16SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:17SPEAKER_16: I'm glad I'm glad she's in the band.
- 8:18SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 8:19SPEAKER_08: So yeah, she always brings brings fun, a fun element, I should say.
- 8:23SPEAKER_08: Um but yeah, I think it went pretty well.
- 8:25SPEAKER_08: I mean, we got our work cut out for us.
- 8:27SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, we got a long one.
- 8:28SPEAKER_08: We won't be playing for a year at least.
- 8:31SPEAKER_16: At least, yeah.
- 8:32SPEAKER_16: Well, that was the way it was Skinny Elvis.
- 8:33SPEAKER_16: We didn't play for like a year and a half, so yeah, it's it's just gonna take some time.
- 8:37SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 8:38SPEAKER_08: So we'll be playing.
- 8:38SPEAKER_08: That's okay.
- 8:39SPEAKER_08: We get to play.
- 8:39SPEAKER_08: We get to play.
- 8:40SPEAKER_16: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 8:40SPEAKER_16: We got, you know, now John's even come up with a schedule for all the bands.
- 8:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: So we get we get to play with our friends, and that's that's yeah, that's all that matters.
- 8:49SPEAKER_16: You know.
- 8:49SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 8:49SPEAKER_16: If we play out or if we don't ever play out, it doesn't matter.
- 8:52SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 8:53SPEAKER_08: I I did send a thing um to to the the thread, I think you probably saw it, because we're doing some Diamond Rio.
- 9:00SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_08: And you know, Diamond Rio is hard to play on guitar.
- 9:04SPEAKER_08: Uh A because it's Jimmy Olander and he's a genius guitar player.
- 9:08SPEAKER_08: But he plays a B bender and a and a G bender guitar.
- 9:12SPEAKER_08: And what people a lot of people don't know is that's hooked up to their guitar strap, and when you see them play and they kind of they kind of jerk the guitar one way, uh that bends the strings.
- 9:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:24SPEAKER_08: And so uh all I'm saying is try and play that without a bender.
- 9:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_17: It's not easy.
- 9:31SPEAKER_17: Yeah, it's a it's it's a it's a it's a struggle.
- 9:34SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_08: So it's a challenge.
- 9:35SPEAKER_08: But I like that.
- 9:36SPEAKER_08: I like a challenge.
- 9:37SPEAKER_08: I think it I think it'll be okay.
- 9:38SPEAKER_08: We'll figure it out.
- 9:39SPEAKER_08: I'm excited about it still.
- 9:41SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it's gonna be good.
- 9:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_16: Once we once, you know, like I said, one practice.
- 9:44SPEAKER_16: I mean, doesn't you can't tell anything off one practice.
- 9:47SPEAKER_08: So far, so good.
- 9:50SPEAKER_08: So some things uh to talk about.
- 9:52SPEAKER_08: You know how Ultimate Classic Rock has been doing the big four?
- 9:55SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 9:56SPEAKER_08: Uh we had we had the big four hair bands, we had prog bands, guitar players last week.
- 10:02SPEAKER_16: Guitar players.
- 10:02SPEAKER_16: Oh, uh Ilsa sent a the message about uh I did see that.
- 10:06SPEAKER_16: She sent a message about her top four bands.
- 10:08SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 10:08SPEAKER_08: You do you have that writ handy?
- 10:10SPEAKER_08: Or uh can get it.
- 10:11SPEAKER_08: Let me I did see that too.
- 10:13SPEAKER_08: Let me hear once again, thank you, Ilsa, for for being part of the show.
- 10:16SPEAKER_08: That was a lot of fun.
- 10:17SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 10:18SPEAKER_08: She's very nice.
- 10:19SPEAKER_08: She she sent me a text uh uh thanking us for for allowing her that was nice, right?
- 10:25SPEAKER_08: On the on the podcast.
- 10:26SPEAKER_08: So that was that was lovely, that was pretty cool.
- 10:29SPEAKER_11: Okay, hold on.
- 10:29SPEAKER_11: Let me uh get to uh so Oh yeah, okay, Ilsa, my top my top guitarist.
- 10:37SPEAKER_16: Number one, Eddie Van Halen.
- 10:39SPEAKER_16: Of course.
- 10:39SPEAKER_16: Number two, Mick Mars.
- 10:41SPEAKER_08: That's an that's one I wouldn't have picked, but uh a hugely underrated guy.
- 10:45SPEAKER_16: But she likes but she likes mommy, Kirk.
- 10:47SPEAKER_08: Right, but a hugely underrated guitar player, I think.
- 10:50SPEAKER_08: Very true.
- 10:50SPEAKER_16: Number three, Kirk Hammett.
- 10:52SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 10:53SPEAKER_16: Yep, and number four, Slash.
- 10:55SPEAKER_16: All right.
- 10:55SPEAKER_16: So that's a good top four.
- 10:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it is.
- 10:58SPEAKER_16: Very good, Ilsa.
- 10:59SPEAKER_16: I like it.
- 11:00SPEAKER_16: I like your very good, very good, Ilsa.
- 11:02SPEAKER_16: Very good.
- 11:03SPEAKER_08: Um we have another list.
- 11:06SPEAKER_08: All right, uh, and I want to expand on it because Ultimate Classic Rock has done the big four songwriting duos.
- 11:15SPEAKER_08: Oh I would like to expand it to songwriting teams.
- 11:20SPEAKER_08: Because it doesn't necessarily have to be a duo.
- 11:22SPEAKER_08: True.
- 11:22SPEAKER_08: Um But I I I do think you have to include um teams.
- 11:31SPEAKER_08: Well, you know what?
- 11:32SPEAKER_08: Now that I think about it most of the I don't know that that you need to extend it, because most of the teams maybe I was thinking of Holland Ozier Holland.
- 11:43SPEAKER_08: That's three people.
- 11:45SPEAKER_08: Um But yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 11:49SPEAKER_16: I love how you come up with this thing and then you contradict yourself.
- 11:52SPEAKER_16: Every time, and then go back to the original all in the same sentence.
- 11:56SPEAKER_16: Every time.
- 11:57SPEAKER_16: It's it's amazing.
- 11:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 11:58SPEAKER_16: It's like it's like it's like it's like it's like watching uh a car accident almost happen.
- 12:03SPEAKER_16: It's called second guessing.
- 12:04SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 12:05SPEAKER_16: Because you're you'll start off and then you'll be like, yeah, but and then and and then you'll talk yourself right back out of it, then you're right back into it.
- 12:12SPEAKER_08: Well, I I I think I was thinking of Okay, we're back on the road.
- 12:16SPEAKER_08: I think I was thinking of Holland Dozer Holland, which is a uh songwriting team from the 60s who wrote a a bunch of hit songs, uh, and it was three of them.
- 12:27SPEAKER_08: But then all the other ones that I think of are are duos.
- 12:32SPEAKER_16: So I think Yeah, most most of your most successful songwriting are are gonna be duos.
- 12:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:38SPEAKER_16: So some at sometimes too many cooks in the kitchen make it uh well look at country radio today.
- 12:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I mean it's just or even pop radio.
- 12:46SPEAKER_08: Pop radio, it takes you know sixteen people to write, you know, a baby.
- 12:51SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 12:52SPEAKER_16: Wow.
- 12:53SPEAKER_16: Yeah who wrote that piece of genius.
- 12:55SPEAKER_08: Um so so I guess well what what would be your obviously, I think you you and I both can agree on the number one songwriting dude.
- 13:06SPEAKER_16: Lennon McCartney.
- 13:06SPEAKER_08: Lennon McCartney.
- 13:08SPEAKER_08: Easy.
- 13:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah, easy.
- 13:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:09SPEAKER_16: Who would be your number two?
- 13:10SPEAKER_16: Who would be your number two?
- 13:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_16: Neil Pierre.
- 13:14SPEAKER_16: He's not even a team.
- 13:16SPEAKER_08: I want to go duos.
- 13:18SPEAKER_08: Him and his brain.
- 13:19SPEAKER_08: Him and his brain.
- 13:20SPEAKER_08: Okay, I'll take that.
- 13:21SPEAKER_16: No, he's an ad two.
- 13:23SPEAKER_16: Uh I don't know who'll be my number two.
- 13:25SPEAKER_16: Um, it's probably Nick Jagger and Keith Richards.
- 13:35SPEAKER_08: I think they're in there.
- 13:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I think they're in there.
- 13:37SPEAKER_16: They're probably in there.
- 13:38SPEAKER_16: And I I bet I bet I wonder if Hetfield and Yurlick are in.
- 13:44SPEAKER_08: I doubt it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_16: It could be.
- 13:46SPEAKER_08: I doubt it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_08: I haven't the only one I've seen uh is Lennon and McCartney.
- 13:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:50SPEAKER_08: Um I would go with something like uh and w are we going rock and roll?
- 14:00SPEAKER_08: Or are we going Well, it was an ultimate classic rock.
- 14:03SPEAKER_08: True.
- 14:04SPEAKER_08: True.
- 14:04SPEAKER_08: So we're not we're not sticking with theirs.
- 14:07SPEAKER_08: I mean, we're doing our own.
- 14:08SPEAKER_08: Well, we're doing our own, yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_08: So obviously number one is Lennon McCartney.
- 14:11SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 14:12SPEAKER_08: You gotta go uh Goffin and King, Jerry Goffin and Carol King.
- 14:18SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 14:18SPEAKER_08: They wrote, you know, a lot of stuff from the 60s.
- 14:21SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:22SPEAKER_08: Um well, I mean, if you are thinking of classic rock, what about uh Tyler and Perry, the Toxic Twins?
- 14:28SPEAKER_08: Steven Tyler and uh Joe Perry.
- 14:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:31SPEAKER_08: Um who else?
- 14:36SPEAKER_08: Jagger and Richards, we already said.
- 14:38SPEAKER_08: Uh Ashford and Simpson.
- 14:40SPEAKER_08: They were also a songwriting team from the 70s into the 80s.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 14:46SPEAKER_08: Uh yeah, I'm trying to think of.
- 14:50SPEAKER_08: I'm trying to think of.
- 14:51SPEAKER_08: Well, let's just see what they have.
- 14:53unknown: Let's see.
- 14:53SPEAKER_16: Oh, I can't.
- 14:54SPEAKER_16: I'm waiting with bated breath.
- 14:56SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, I didn't think even think of those.
- 14:57SPEAKER_08: Okay, so Lennon McCartney.
- 14:59SPEAKER_08: Of course.
- 15:00SPEAKER_16: Natch.
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 15:01SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 15:02SPEAKER_08: Um Jagger and Richards.
- 15:04SPEAKER_16: See, we know you, ultimate classic rock.
- 15:07SPEAKER_16: We know how you think.
- 15:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:09SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, well, of course.
- 15:10SPEAKER_08: Elton John and Bernie Toppin.
- 15:12SPEAKER_16: Oh, I was gonna say Bernie Toppin, but I couldn't think of anybody put him with.
- 15:16SPEAKER_08: I completely forgot about those two.
- 15:17SPEAKER_08: Okay, yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah, they were that's one of the most celebrated songwriting duos in the history of rock and roll or any music.
- 15:25SPEAKER_16: Is this top four or what?
- 15:26SPEAKER_16: This is top four.
- 15:27SPEAKER_08: Top four, okay.
- 15:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_08: Um and the other one wonder who snuck in.
- 15:32SPEAKER_08: I I think you'll agree with it, actually.
- 15:34SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 15:34SPEAKER_08: Um Glenn Fry and Don Henry.
- 15:37SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, Eagles.
- 15:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:39SPEAKER_08: They wrote a lot of songs.
- 15:40SPEAKER_08: Oh, they wrote a lot of great songs together.
- 15:41SPEAKER_08: Yes, they did.
- 15:42SPEAKER_08: Um so yeah, I would I would I would agree with that.
- 15:45SPEAKER_08: I wanna see if there's any more, probably not.
- 15:47SPEAKER_08: Nope.
- 15:48SPEAKER_08: That that's their top four.
- 15:50SPEAKER_08: But I would put um Who did I say?
- 15:53SPEAKER_08: Oh I guess yeah, if you're thinking talking classic rock, it wouldn't be Gotham and King.
- 15:58SPEAKER_08: You know, you would put that as just forever like the history of music.
- 16:03SPEAKER_08: Although they did, I mean, they did all those Supremes songs, yeah.
- 16:08SPEAKER_08: Um things like that.
- 16:09SPEAKER_08: So Yeah, I would agree with most of those.
- 16:12SPEAKER_08: Um Jagger and Richards.
- 16:14SPEAKER_16: They would have they would have been my bottom.
- 16:17SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 16:17SPEAKER_08: Uh you know, even though I you know, I'm a Rolling Stones fan, I guess.
- 16:21SPEAKER_08: I'm not a huge Rolling Stones fan.
- 16:23SPEAKER_11: No, me neither.
- 16:24SPEAKER_08: Um, a lot of what the Stones did were Beatles were uh blues covers.
- 16:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 16:28SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 16:29SPEAKER_16: Of course, you know, the Beatles gave them a lot of songs.
- 16:32SPEAKER_08: They did.
- 16:32SPEAKER_16: So we're not gonna use this one, you guys are gonna have it.
- 16:37SPEAKER_08: You know the first song that Jagger and Richards wrote together?
- 16:39SPEAKER_08: Somebody locked them their I think there it was their manager or something, locked them in a room and said, You're gonna write together.
- 16:45SPEAKER_08: And they came up with As Tears Go By.
- 16:48SPEAKER_16: Oh, really?
- 16:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 16:49SPEAKER_08: That was the first uh first collaboration between those two.
- 16:52SPEAKER_08: Um I read that somewhere recently, actually.
- 16:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, maybe it's right there.
- 16:55SPEAKER_08: Maybe it's right there.
- 16:56SPEAKER_08: Uh was Author Races from their story, goes at the early days, Rolling Stone's manager locked in the room together and told them not to come out until they'd written a song.
- 17:03SPEAKER_08: They did, as Tears Go By.
- 17:05SPEAKER_08: Uh and that would that's been covered by a bunch of people too.
- 17:08SPEAKER_08: Marion Faithful uh did a version of that.
- 17:11SPEAKER_08: But yeah, Bernie Toppin and Elton John, I've I forgot all about those two.
- 17:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I totally yeah, yeah.
- 17:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:15SPEAKER_08: So yeah, no, I would agree with those for sure.
- 17:18SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 17:18SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 17:19SPEAKER_16: Absolutely.
- 17:20SPEAKER_08: Um so we uh we gotta acknowledge a couple of uh passings.
- 17:27SPEAKER_08: I don't know if you heard this.
- 17:28SPEAKER_08: Tito Jackson died.
- 17:29SPEAKER_16: Oh, yeah, I did hear that.
- 17:30SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 17:31SPEAKER_08: Um no cause of death given.
- 17:32SPEAKER_08: Um so rest in peace, Tito.
- 17:35SPEAKER_08: Um I didn't really realize that he had gone on and was still doing stuff.
- 17:40SPEAKER_08: But I suppose why wouldn't he?
- 17:42SPEAKER_16: Well, how would you know?
- 17:44SPEAKER_16: Because nobody exists in the Jackson family except Michael and Janet.
- 17:48SPEAKER_08: Right, exactly.
- 17:49SPEAKER_16: Once in a while La Toya comes out and says something completely nuts.
- 17:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 17:54SPEAKER_16: And then she goes back into, you know, the coven she came back.
- 17:58SPEAKER_08: Well, apparently apparently Tito Jackson has been uh putting stuff out, albums out and touring, as a blues guitar player.
- 18:06SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 18:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_08: Which I had no idea.
- 18:08SPEAKER_08: I would never have known.
- 18:09SPEAKER_08: It's yeah.
- 18:10SPEAKER_08: So swept under the rug.
- 18:12SPEAKER_16: But his name's not Tito, it's something else.
- 18:14SPEAKER_16: His given name is they just called him Tito as a as a nickname.
- 18:19SPEAKER_08: Um let's see.
- 18:22SPEAKER_08: I don't think it said that actually.
- 18:24SPEAKER_08: They called it it called him Tito the whole during the whole article.
- 18:28SPEAKER_17: No, his name is something else.
- 18:29SPEAKER_08: Let's see if it says he's only seventy.
- 18:35SPEAKER_17: That's kind of young, actually.
- 18:36SPEAKER_08: No, it doesn't say his his uh real name.
- 18:40SPEAKER_16: Let's ask let's ask the one that knows everything or thinks they know everything.
- 18:45SPEAKER_08: Who's that?
- 18:46SPEAKER_08: Google.
- 18:47SPEAKER_08: Well, I thought you were gonna say one of my kids.
- 18:48SPEAKER_16: No, I'm not gonna talk your kids don't even know who Tito Jackson is.
- 18:52SPEAKER_16: This is true.
- 18:52SPEAKER_16: Oh, here's one right here.
- 18:54SPEAKER_16: Uh Toriano Adriel Jackson.
- 18:57SPEAKER_16: Adril.
- 18:58SPEAKER_16: Adril.
- 18:59SPEAKER_16: Torriano Adril Jackson.
- 19:00SPEAKER_16: Oh.
- 19:01SPEAKER_08: So Tito.
- 19:02SPEAKER_16: Tito.
- 19:03SPEAKER_16: That's where they get Tito from.
- 19:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_08: Uh so that was too bad.
- 19:06SPEAKER_08: Also uh too bad was the very public um Oh, you're talking about the Jane addiction fight?
- 19:14SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 19:15SPEAKER_08: Very public, uh like kind of hissy fit from Perry Farrell.
- 19:20SPEAKER_08: What?
- 19:21SPEAKER_08: And they the subsequent canceling of the tour, and then they're going on hiatus.
- 19:25SPEAKER_08: That means they're breaking up.
- 19:26SPEAKER_08: They're breaking up.
- 19:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:27SPEAKER_16: Oh my word.
- 19:29SPEAKER_08: They just got back together, too.
- 19:30SPEAKER_16: Yeah, you just watch it.
- 19:31SPEAKER_16: You just he he looks mad already.
- 19:33SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_16: And then he keeps looking at uh Dave Navarro and Who's doing nothing.
- 19:38SPEAKER_16: Dave's just playing.
- 19:39SPEAKER_16: And then he just goes over and just punches at him.
- 19:41SPEAKER_16: I'm like, what the frick is wrong with you, Barry?
- 19:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:46SPEAKER_16: And Dave never hit well, you know, to Dave's credit, he never hit him back.
- 19:49SPEAKER_16: He tried to like kind of keep him away, but it took like three, four friggin' stagings to keep him off of him.
- 19:55SPEAKER_16: I was like, what?
- 19:56SPEAKER_08: Well, I saw I saw an extended piece of the um concert, a segment of the concert where it started to happen.
- 20:05SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 20:06SPEAKER_08: And the only thing I saw was Dave Navarro was over in the corner and he was watching Perry.
- 20:11SPEAKER_08: Now Perry uh has a history of, let's say, extracurricular activities.
- 20:18SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 20:19SPEAKER_08: Um so uh he's not uh operating on a he hasn't been operating on a full deck for a long time.
- 20:27SPEAKER_16: Oh, his easy bake oven light wow years ago.
- 20:30SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 20:30SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 20:30SPEAKER_16: You know what I mean?
- 20:31SPEAKER_08: But he's got an iPad with the lyrics and stuff, so he's trying to remember.
- 20:35SPEAKER_08: Sure.
- 20:36SPEAKER_08: So he got lost.
- 20:38SPEAKER_08: And so they're playing this song, and according to what I saw, he starts singing the a part of the song in the wrong place.
- 20:47SPEAKER_08: And Dave is over in the corner just kind of looking at him like, what are you doing?
- 20:51SPEAKER_08: You know, and he's watching him and hearing him sing in the wrong place.
- 20:55SPEAKER_08: So the solo is coming up.
- 20:56SPEAKER_08: So Dave goes up to him and he taps him and he looks at Dave, and Dave goes like like come here or whatever.
- 21:05SPEAKER_08: And then Dave walks away, goes over in the corner and starts playing his solo.
- 21:09SPEAKER_08: So I don't know if he was just telling Perry that you're in the wrong place.
- 21:13SPEAKER_08: Just I'm gonna do the solo now, watch, watch, you know, this that type of thing.
- 21:17SPEAKER_08: So he was trying to help.
- 21:18SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 21:19SPEAKER_08: But then, I mean, you saw what I saw with that other segment where Perry just like starts yelling at him.
- 21:25SPEAKER_16: Yeah, he just clocks him.
- 21:26SPEAKER_16: Screaming at him and just starts punching him, and I'm like, what?
- 21:29SPEAKER_08: Yep, and Dave pushes him away, and then they they kind of tackle him.
- 21:33SPEAKER_08: Dave takes off his guitar, puts his guitar down.
- 21:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah, just walks right off.
- 21:37SPEAKER_16: Just like yeah, well, yeah, that's another day in Jane's addiction.
- 21:40SPEAKER_08: I don't need this.
- 21:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_08: So yeah, so that's I I don't think uh Jane's addiction's is uh gonna come back again.
- 21:48SPEAKER_16: I wouldn't.
- 21:49SPEAKER_08: No, I wouldn't do that.
- 21:50SPEAKER_16: I'd be like, Yeah, screw you, Perry.
- 21:52SPEAKER_08: Dave I think Dave Navarro can can do whatever he wants.
- 21:54SPEAKER_16: He can do whatever.
- 21:55SPEAKER_16: He can he can play with anybody.
- 21:57SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_08: So I think he should.
- 21:58SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 21:59SPEAKER_16: He can do better.
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: The other one that is uh really too bad and the way it went down Ario Speedwagon is is done.
- 22:08SPEAKER_08: No longer touring.
- 22:10SPEAKER_08: Uh Bruce Hall, who's uh the bass player.
- 22:14SPEAKER_08: Kids in the hall, yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_08: No, wrong Bruce Hall.
- 22:18SPEAKER_16: That sounds really bad too.
- 22:22SPEAKER_16: Wait, hold on.
- 22:23SPEAKER_16: There.
- 22:24SPEAKER_16: Um, can we find a uh drop of kids like going, yay, whenever we do something good?
- 22:31SPEAKER_08: I can probably find that.
- 22:32SPEAKER_08: I don't know how to put it in there and have to do that.
- 22:33SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I was just saying, I would just like to have that.
- 22:35SPEAKER_16: I think that's it.
- 22:36SPEAKER_08: Whenever we do good.
- 22:36SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 22:37SPEAKER_16: Well, I have just like little no no, I want like little kids going, yay, clapping.
- 22:42SPEAKER_16: I just I just think that's cute.
- 22:44SPEAKER_16: I think that's a good idea.
- 22:45SPEAKER_16: Anyway, but anyway.
- 22:46SPEAKER_08: Um I digress.
- 22:47SPEAKER_16: So Speedwagon and Kids in the Hall.
- 22:49SPEAKER_08: Okay, Oriel Speedwagon had to uh well Bruce Hall had to get uh done the band, or at least he thought he was gonna get done, but he he was planning on coming back.
- 22:58SPEAKER_08: He had to have surgery, like hip surgery or something like that.
- 23:02SPEAKER_08: And so they had a replacement for him, and uh the keyboard player had already retired from the road, and so Kevin Cronin just decides, you know, I'm I'm done touring.
- 23:16SPEAKER_08: And so Bruce Hall was like, Oh wait, I was coming back.
- 23:20SPEAKER_08: And anyway, the way it was done was kind of weird.
- 23:24SPEAKER_08: They just kind of put out a statement.
- 23:25SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, by the way, we're done.
- 23:27SPEAKER_08: You know, no no farewell tour, no nothing.
- 23:30SPEAKER_08: Of course, that's kind of refreshing, actually.
- 23:32SPEAKER_16: Yeah, it's actually kind of that's actually like, oh, finally, somebody's just like done touring.
- 23:37SPEAKER_16: Right, right.
- 23:38SPEAKER_16: You know, it's not gonna be like three more years and then we're like, oh, you know what?
- 23:42SPEAKER_16: We should do a f farewell tour.
- 23:44SPEAKER_16: You know?
- 23:45SPEAKER_16: I didn't like how we left it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_16: Let's go back out.
- 23:49SPEAKER_08: I like the I like uh the way Phil Collins did it.
- 24:00SPEAKER_08: I don't remember what it was, but it was quite funny.
- 24:03SPEAKER_08: So that was a shame, you know, that uh that we we we didn't uh get anything big from RS Big.
- 24:09SPEAKER_08: Their last album, which I have or had, was from 2010, I think.
- 24:16SPEAKER_17: They didn't put anything out for quite a while, so no.
- 24:18SPEAKER_08: Um and it wasn't terrible.
- 24:20SPEAKER_08: I mean it was it was okay.
- 24:21SPEAKER_08: Um and the other but the good news though, we have some good news, Tears for Fears have a new uh live album coming out.
- 24:27SPEAKER_11: Oh, okay.
- 24:28SPEAKER_08: And on the live album, they have some new songs.
- 24:31SPEAKER_08: Oh and we have one of those news songs to uh to listen to right now.
- 24:36SPEAKER_08: This is called The Girl That I Call Home.
- 24:40SPEAKER_17: Oh, yeah.
- 24:41SPEAKER_17: I like that title, man.
- 24:43SPEAKER_08: Me too.
- 24:43SPEAKER_08: That's a great title.
- 24:44SPEAKER_08: Well, wait, wait till you hear the name of the album.
- 24:48SPEAKER_08: The name of the album is Songs for a Nervous Planet.
- 24:51SPEAKER_16: Wow! Man, they are still killing it, man.
- 24:54SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 24:55SPEAKER_08: First song on the album, say goodbye to Mom and Dad.
- 25:00SPEAKER_08: A little dark.
- 25:01SPEAKER_08: Uh I think the first I think what it is is I think the first four songs are new.
- 25:08SPEAKER_16: Oh, kind of like what did what Van Halen did when they came out with their best of both worlds.
- 25:12SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 25:13SPEAKER_16: They put the new songs first and then everything else was later.
- 25:17SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 25:17SPEAKER_08: Um, let's see, I'm trying to see.
- 25:21SPEAKER_08: These were the tipping point, went on to become Tears of Fears top ten album.
- 25:25SPEAKER_08: Songs for News will be played with a concert film recorded in the summer of 2023.
- 25:30SPEAKER_08: Um actually, I you know, I don't it doesn't say I don't know how many of these these songs are new.
- 25:35SPEAKER_16: I just I want to hear the song.
- 25:36SPEAKER_08: I do too, because I love Tears of Fears.
- 25:38SPEAKER_08: Let's see here.
- 25:40SPEAKER_08: Let's play it.
- 25:41SPEAKER_16: Is that the girl?
- 25:42SPEAKER_08: The girl that I call home.
- 26:27SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 26:28SPEAKER_16: Nothing against the guys, but uh we went from a girl running through a field of wa uh sunflowers to a satellite in space.
- 26:38SPEAKER_08: Songs for a nervous planet.
- 26:44SPEAKER_16: Now we're back to the girl.
- 26:48SPEAKER_16: She's like she's singing along with her own song.
- 26:52SPEAKER_16: And that there's the sunflowers again.
- 26:54SPEAKER_16: What is it with girls and sunflowers?
- 26:56SPEAKER_08: I don't understand the uh I will say there is a there is a song on the album called Astronaut.
- 27:13SPEAKER_08: I don't know if it's like a theme.
- 27:15SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I was gonna say, because we're back to the satellite now.
- 27:18SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 27:24SPEAKER_16: I like the song though.
- 27:25SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I do too.
- 27:31SPEAKER_16: Well, speaking of an astronaut, there he is.
- 27:33SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 27:36SPEAKER_16: Oh, and now we're back to the girl and Winnie the Pooh.
- 27:40SPEAKER_16: Winnie the Pooh for some reason.
- 27:48SPEAKER_16: I'm sure there's a connection here.
- 27:51SPEAKER_08: Again, it must be a theme, like a thread that goes through those new songs or something.
- 27:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah, maybe.
- 28:07SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I like it too.
- 28:17SPEAKER_08: Anyway, so the new Tears for Fears live album, it's gonna include 18 live songs, uh, plus four additional studio tracks.
- 28:25SPEAKER_08: That's what it is.
- 28:26SPEAKER_08: Four.
- 28:26SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 28:27SPEAKER_08: Um and let's see, let's see, let's see if there's a release date.
- 28:33SPEAKER_08: Uh yes.
- 28:36SPEAKER_08: Oh no.
- 28:37SPEAKER_08: The the concert film premieres in more than 1100 cinemas on October 24th and will play again on October 26th.
- 28:47SPEAKER_08: Um it doesn't say when this album comes out.
- 28:52SPEAKER_08: Well, that's silly.
- 28:53SPEAKER_08: That's just bad reporting.
- 28:56SPEAKER_08: But uh, but I dig it.
- 28:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I like it.
- 29:00SPEAKER_16: Speaking of new music, Striper's new album came out.
- 29:03SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah?
- 29:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:04SPEAKER_08: Do you have it?
- 29:04SPEAKER_16: I'd have it.
- 29:05SPEAKER_16: I have not listened to it yet.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: You haven't listened to it yet, but you've heard a couple songs for it, I'm sure.
- 29:09SPEAKER_16: I haven't heard nothing from it.
- 29:10SPEAKER_08: Is this the acoustic one?
- 29:12SPEAKER_16: No.
- 29:12SPEAKER_16: It's the uh when we were King's album.
- 29:15SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 29:17SPEAKER_08: Is that the one is that the one that has the uh Don't ask me, I don't know.
- 29:21SPEAKER_16: I just have it.
- 29:21SPEAKER_16: I I just got it literally before I came up here.
- 29:24SPEAKER_08: Oh, so you haven't heard any of this?
- 29:25SPEAKER_08: I have listened to nothing.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: Oh, interesting.
- 29:27SPEAKER_08: So I look forward to hearing that.
- 29:29SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 29:30SPEAKER_08: That'd be cool.
- 29:30SPEAKER_08: Nah.
- 29:31SPEAKER_08: Um, I just so as we were talking, I I was uh on uh my phone and I came across this article.
- 29:38SPEAKER_08: And it's uh I thought it was interesting because it took a while for this to happen.
- 29:45SPEAKER_08: Um there is you know, there are people sue each other all the time for stealing songs and things like that.
- 29:55SPEAKER_08: Of course.
- 29:55SPEAKER_08: Um but this one just happened, and this these this song is kind of old.
- 30:02SPEAKER_08: It's an award-winning song.
- 30:04SPEAKER_16: Um Are you aware Well nobody's gonna sue anybody over a cr song that sucks.
- 30:09SPEAKER_16: I'm sorry, they were gonna be like, hmm, hey, you ripped off my song.
- 30:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah, well it socks anyway.
- 30:15SPEAKER_16: True, true.
- 30:15SPEAKER_08: We'll give you a dollar for it.
- 30:16SPEAKER_08: Oh god.
- 30:17SPEAKER_08: But it almost seems like um why wouldn't you like when this first came out, or before it came out, when you heard about this song, why wouldn't you have said something then?
- 30:30SPEAKER_16: You know?
- 30:30SPEAKER_16: Well maybe they were waiting for it to see if it become popular, they didn't make a big deal about it.
- 30:34SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 30:34SPEAKER_08: Okay, so let me get these two songs here.
- 30:37SPEAKER_08: Because I think it's um I think it's common knowledge that this was written as an answer to this song.
- 30:49SPEAKER_08: So I'll tell you what I'm talking about here.
- 30:52SPEAKER_08: So this is Bruno Mars.
- 30:58SPEAKER_08: The songs do not sound similar.
- 31:01SPEAKER_08: That's not why this they're suing.
- 31:03SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 31:06SPEAKER_08: Um I think you've heard this song.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: Same bed, but it feels just a little bit bigger now.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: A song on the radio, but it don't sound the same.
- 31:21SPEAKER_02: When I first talked to find you all the dances, just tell me to my heart breaks a little when I hear your name.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: It all just sounds like you flowers, should the kicker on my house With the head that chits Take it every party, cause all you don't want to do was dance.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: Now my baby's dancing, but she's dancing with another man.
- 32:11unknown: Okay.
- 32:11SPEAKER_08: It's Bruno Mars.
- 32:13SPEAKER_08: Um When I was your man, and I don't think I've said this publicly, but to me Bruno Mars can do no wrong.
- 32:20SPEAKER_08: I love Bruno Mars.
- 32:21SPEAKER_16: I I like Bruno Mars.
- 32:22SPEAKER_16: I think he's a genius.
- 32:23SPEAKER_16: I think he's amazing.
- 32:24SPEAKER_16: He's like he's like the ne he's like this is heresy to say.
- 32:27SPEAKER_08: No, I know what you're gonna say.
- 32:28SPEAKER_08: He's like the next prince.
- 32:30SPEAKER_08: I was gonna say the next Michael Jackson.
- 32:31SPEAKER_08: Prince Michael Jackson.
- 32:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:33SPEAKER_08: In that realm.
- 32:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 32:34SPEAKER_08: You know, yeah, for sure.
- 32:36SPEAKER_08: I mean, he's multi-talented.
- 32:37SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: And and has a voice of gold.
- 32:40SPEAKER_16: Yeah, he and he makes great songs.
- 32:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he does.
- 32:42SPEAKER_16: That are that are memorable.
- 32:43SPEAKER_08: Yep, I agree.
- 32:44SPEAKER_08: So the answer to this song, and I don't know if you knew this or not, um, but Miley Cyrus, the song Flowers, is an answer to um.
- 32:58SPEAKER_16: Well, I thought that song came out way before that one.
- 33:01SPEAKER_08: When I was your man came out before Flowers.
- 33:03SPEAKER_03: It did.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: We were gone.
- 33:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: Kind of dream that can't be so.
- 33:09SPEAKER_08: Flowers was written as an as an answer to Bruno Mars.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: Was it a built a home and watched it?
- 33:16SPEAKER_16: Is Miley Cyrus the woman he's talking to?
- 33:18SPEAKER_08: No, no, no, no.
- 33:19SPEAKER_08: No.
- 33:20SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 33:20SPEAKER_08: She was just listening to that song and and and uh with her co-writer, they sat down and wrote an answer to it.
- 33:27SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: Started to cry, but then remember that I can buy myself flowers.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: Right, my name and sit.
- 33:43SPEAKER_08: It's like, you know, I should have bought you flowers and this and this.
- 33:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, just leave me alone.
- 33:47SPEAKER_08: I I I can do all that myself.
- 33:49SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 33:51SPEAKER_08: So here's how it goes here's how it sets.
- 33:54SPEAKER_08: Um Any fan of Bruno Mars's When I Was Your Man knows that Miley Cyrus's flowers did not achieve all of that success on its own.
- 34:03SPEAKER_08: Flowers duplicates numerous melodic, harmonic, and lyrical elements, elements of When I Was Your Man, including the melodic pitch design and sequence of the verse, the connecting bass lines, certain bars of the chorus, certain theatrical musical elements, lyric elements, and specific chord progressions, they claimed in court documents.
- 34:22SPEAKER_08: It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that flowers would not exist without When I Was Your Man.
- 34:29SPEAKER_08: Well, that's probably true because it was an answer to it.
- 34:33SPEAKER_08: But do you think this sounds like two separate songs?
- 34:37SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: This is more like a Dragon Bombs of Flowers.
- 34:41SPEAKER_08: So now Bruno Mars is not stewing.
- 34:44SPEAKER_16: So who's doing who?
- 34:46SPEAKER_08: Uh it is Tempo Music Investment, which uh which owns a share of the copyright to Mars Hit.
- 34:55SPEAKER_08: When I was your man.
- 34:56SPEAKER_08: Bruno Mars is not suing.
- 34:58SPEAKER_16: Oh, so it's his publishing room.
- 35:00SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 35:01SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 35:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:03SPEAKER_16: That's so stupid.
- 35:04SPEAKER_16: It is stupid.
- 35:06SPEAKER_16: I can understand.
- 35:10SPEAKER_16: Well, they probably called Jonathan Kane.
- 35:12SPEAKER_16: They were like, hey, who's your lawyer?
- 35:14SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 35:14SPEAKER_16: We want to sue people.
- 35:15SPEAKER_16: He'd be like, all right, let me give you his card.
- 35:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:18SPEAKER_08: Now I can understand if she if she decided to um like completely do a song exactly like that and answer answer to it.
- 35:31SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 35:31SPEAKER_08: But this is I don't I don't know what what thematic elements actually no thematic elements, yes, I get that.
- 35:38SPEAKER_08: Lyric elements, yes, I get that.
- 35:40SPEAKER_08: Because she's answering everything he says in his song.
- 35:42SPEAKER_16: Yeah, basically, yeah.
- 35:43SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 35:44SPEAKER_16: But it but but the songs are two different things.
- 35:46SPEAKER_08: It doesn't sound like sound the same, it's not structured the same.
- 35:51SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 35:51SPEAKER_16: This is more of like an upbeat, his is more like a ballad.
- 35:54SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 35:55SPEAKER_08: And I think it's I think it's just a way to get attention.
- 35:58SPEAKER_08: I don't know, I don't know I don't know what the issue is there because they're two separate songs.
- 36:04SPEAKER_11: Nah, just people being stupid.
- 36:06SPEAKER_08: It is people being stupid.
- 36:07SPEAKER_08: Anyway, I just wanted to bring that up because I think it's stupid and we like to talk about stupid things.
- 36:11SPEAKER_16: We like stupid things here.
- 36:12SPEAKER_08: We do.
- 36:12SPEAKER_16: We do.
- 36:13SPEAKER_16: O'Brien and Doug, we like stupid things.
- 36:14SPEAKER_16: There's the title of the podcast.
- 36:15SPEAKER_16: That's the title of the podcast.
- 36:16SPEAKER_08: The episode.
- 36:17SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 36:17SPEAKER_08: Here we go.
- 36:18SPEAKER_08: We like stupid things.
- 36:19SPEAKER_16: This has nothing to do with stupid things.
- 36:20SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 36:21SPEAKER_16: I was watching a documentary on Tom Petty.
- 36:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:24SPEAKER_16: Um did you know?
- 36:27SPEAKER_16: Yeah, this well, this is uh something how it really happened or something like that.
- 36:32SPEAKER_16: It's talking about the death of Tom Petty.
- 36:34SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 36:35SPEAKER_16: Did you know his hip was broken the entire time he was touring his last hoar?
- 36:40SPEAKER_16: I did not.
- 36:40SPEAKER_16: Nobody did.
- 36:42SPEAKER_16: Did he know?
- 36:42SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 36:43SPEAKER_16: But he kept doing it.
- 36:44SPEAKER_16: It was broken, broken?
- 36:46SPEAKER_16: It was broke.
- 36:46SPEAKER_16: It was started off as a fracture.
- 36:48SPEAKER_16: And they were like, well, you can do stuff, but you know, be careful.
- 36:51SPEAKER_16: Well, during the tour, it completely broke.
- 36:54SPEAKER_08: Okay, so that makes me wonder.
- 36:56SPEAKER_16: So they're saying his death was caused by an overdose of fentanyl.
- 36:59SPEAKER_16: That's what I was gonna say.
- 37:00SPEAKER_08: So it makes me w because I know he was a heavy, heavy smoker.
- 37:04SPEAKER_16: Yes.
- 37:04SPEAKER_08: And it would not surprise me that he died of cardiac arrest.
- 37:07SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_16: But it would but it was caused by fentanyl.
- 37:10SPEAKER_16: It wasn't caused by smoking.
- 37:11SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 37:11SPEAKER_16: That's it was painkiller because of the hip.
- 37:13SPEAKER_16: Well, that's Prince.
- 37:14SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 37:15SPEAKER_08: Prince was on painkillers for something.
- 37:16SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure what it was, but he's.
- 37:19SPEAKER_08: It's crazy.
- 37:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah, so there you go.
- 37:22SPEAKER_08: That's uh that's just yeah, sad, man.
- 37:23SPEAKER_08: It is sad.
- 37:25SPEAKER_08: So sad.
- 37:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 37:27SPEAKER_08: Thanks for bringing it down.
- 37:28SPEAKER_08: I appreciate that.
- 37:29SPEAKER_16: Well, that's what I do here.
- 37:32SPEAKER_16: You try to bring us up, make us a legit podcast, and I come in, I'm like, no.
- 37:37SPEAKER_16: Nope.
- 37:38SPEAKER_16: I'm gonna say something that is really sucky.
- 37:41SPEAKER_16: That's what I do here.
- 37:42SPEAKER_08: That's my whole purpose.
- 37:43SPEAKER_08: Uh what was I gonna say?
- 37:44SPEAKER_08: You know what?
- 37:45SPEAKER_08: Which we should do um mixtape now.
- 37:47SPEAKER_08: Mixtape!
- 37:49SPEAKER_07: Yay!
- 37:53SPEAKER_08: Our favorite game.
- 37:54SPEAKER_16: Um You know, I I hate to say this, but I'm looking forward to this.
- 37:58SPEAKER_16: This is my favorite part of the podcast now.
- 38:01SPEAKER_08: So we said past, present, and future?
- 38:02SPEAKER_08: Past, present and future.
- 38:03SPEAKER_08: Okay, so we do the past one.
- 38:05SPEAKER_08: Uh we find out who uh we found out who won.
- 38:07SPEAKER_08: Who won.
- 38:08SPEAKER_08: And the question was, do you remember?
- 38:10SPEAKER_16: The question was, was the uh was the uh uh.
- 38:15SPEAKER_08: I'm glad you don't remember.
- 38:16SPEAKER_16: Oh, it was the montage, the 80s montage of their own.
- 38:19SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 38:20SPEAKER_08: That's right, that's right.
- 38:21SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 38:22SPEAKER_08: Um Yeah, that's right, because Cousin Larry picked something from the 70s, I think.
- 38:28SPEAKER_08: Can't heat Can't Heat, that's right.
- 38:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 38:31SPEAKER_08: You picked Our House by Madame Our House by Madness, and I picked a song from Ghostbusters.
- 38:38SPEAKER_08: From Ghostbusters, yes.
- 38:40SPEAKER_08: Uh Save in the Day.
- 38:41SPEAKER_08: Save the Day.
- 38:42SPEAKER_17: Save in the Day Saving the Day.
- 38:45SPEAKER_17: Okay, so uh let's see.
- 38:47SPEAKER_08: See if we get a a uh a three in a row for Larry.
- 38:50SPEAKER_08: Or was it four in a row?
- 38:52SPEAKER_16: Oh no, I won the last two.
- 38:54SPEAKER_08: Oh you've won the last two?
- 38:57unknown: Wow.
- 38:58SPEAKER_08: See, I thought Larry won the last one.
- 38:59SPEAKER_08: And I hate to tell you, but uh You've won this one too.
- 39:03SPEAKER_16: I got the hat.
- 39:06SPEAKER_16: Uh let's see, this was okay.
- 39:07SPEAKER_16: Uh uh I could see easily see all three songs as background music for a scene like that in any 80s movie.
- 39:15SPEAKER_16: Fairly certain that I've watched an 80s movie or show where with such a montage.
- 39:19SPEAKER_16: It was a really hard pick, but I went with our house.
- 39:22SPEAKER_16: While each song easily could have been matched up with a community coming together to clean up a community center to make it their own.
- 39:28SPEAKER_16: The Ghostbusters theme song had Let's Get This Done energy.
- 39:32SPEAKER_16: The Let's Work Together had the service aspect.
- 39:35SPEAKER_16: There was just the idea and energy of our house that brought a different energy to the montage.
- 39:40SPEAKER_08: So I'll give her that.
- 39:48SPEAKER_08: Because because uh the picks, we can understand each other's picks.
- 39:52SPEAKER_08: Oh, absolutely.
- 39:53SPEAKER_08: Like I can understand why you picked that.
- 39:54SPEAKER_08: I can understand why Larry picked his song.
- 39:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 39:56SPEAKER_08: It's it's kind of annoying, actually, that we we should probably be arguing.
- 40:00SPEAKER_08: It would be make the podcast more interesting.
- 40:02SPEAKER_16: It probably would, but we haven't reached that but there's a lot of questions in here.
- 40:06SPEAKER_16: Yeah, this is we we may get to that point.
- 40:08SPEAKER_16: We're you know where we're where you know 70 minutes of the podcast is us fighting.
- 40:14SPEAKER_08: So did you hear that podcast of uh O'Brien and Dung?
- 40:17SPEAKER_08: Just like you son of a He punched him and then he kicked him off the stage and Oh wait, that's different.
- 40:22SPEAKER_16: That's wait, that was that was Perry Farrell.
- 40:25SPEAKER_16: Again.
- 40:28SPEAKER_16: That would mean somebody have to listen to the podcast.
- 40:30SPEAKER_16: That would, yeah.
- 40:30SPEAKER_17: They were like, I didn't hear about it.
- 40:32SPEAKER_16: Okay, so that's passed.
- 40:33SPEAKER_16: I didn't hear anything about it.
- 40:34SPEAKER_16: Okay, so present.
- 40:35SPEAKER_16: Present.
- 40:35SPEAKER_16: So we have the you have a loud, obnoxious neighbors living above you.
- 40:40SPEAKER_16: What song do you play at high volume to get back at them?
- 40:42SPEAKER_08: Okay, so you want to go with Larry first?
- 40:44SPEAKER_16: We're gonna go with cousin Larry.
- 40:46SPEAKER_16: Oh, our judge uh weighed in on this one, actually.
- 40:48SPEAKER_11: Oh, okay.
- 40:49SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 40:49SPEAKER_16: So she's uh uh she said, uh, oh, I had to laugh when your question for this week came up, the annoying neighbor.
- 40:54SPEAKER_16: Immediately lamb chop, this is the song that doesn't end came to mind.
- 40:59SPEAKER_15: This is the song that never ends.
- 41:01SPEAKER_15: Since I was like, that's brilliant.
- 41:04SPEAKER_16: Okay, but uh she can't win, though.
- 41:06SPEAKER_16: She's the she's she's the impartial judge, so okay, so cousin Larry.
- 41:13SPEAKER_16: Here we go.
- 41:16SPEAKER_16: Okay, this is what cousin Larry said.
- 41:18SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 41:18SPEAKER_16: This was tougher than I thought because I uh because the song is going to annoy me too.
- 41:23SPEAKER_16: Do I play it over and over, or is it one and or is it a one and done?
- 41:27SPEAKER_16: The question just says you play it at a loud volume to get back to the neighbors.
- 41:31SPEAKER_16: If I want to annoy them or maybe even scare them, I would play Walk With Me by Walk With Me in Hell by Lamb of God.
- 41:40SPEAKER_16: If I want to annoy them with repetition, I would play the I'm Henry the Eighth by Herman Hermann Herman Hermann.
- 41:46SPEAKER_16: I'm a rythmy.
- 41:48SPEAKER_16: Every time I hear that song, I like to think about it as that movie Ghost.
- 41:52SPEAKER_16: I love it.
- 41:53SPEAKER_16: Uh but if it's strictly to annoy, would have to be Don't Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McSherry.
- 41:59SPEAKER_16: That'll show them not to mess with me.
- 42:03SPEAKER_08: Oh, see, no.
- 42:05SPEAKER_08: Uh I uh my word.
- 42:08SPEAKER_08: See, that's the thing.
- 42:09SPEAKER_08: I love I love that, you know, I agree with that.
- 42:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I totally get it.
- 42:15SPEAKER_16: I wish I would have.
- 42:16SPEAKER_16: I was about to say uh our judge in his song, I was like, man, I didn't even think of those two.
- 42:21SPEAKER_16: That's just brilliant.
- 42:23SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 42:24SPEAKER_08: Come on.
- 42:30SPEAKER_08: And speaking of genius.
- 42:32SPEAKER_08: Oh, Bobby McFerry.
- 42:33SPEAKER_16: Oh my word, yeah.
- 42:34SPEAKER_16: That guy's amazing.
- 42:38SPEAKER_16: Not based on this song.
- 42:40SPEAKER_16: No, no, no.
- 42:43SPEAKER_16: But the fact that he's doing it all with his own voice.
- 42:46SPEAKER_16: Yes, that's pretty brilliant.
- 42:47SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 42:49SPEAKER_10: Here's a little song I wrote.
- 42:52SPEAKER_10: You might want to sing it note for note, don't worry.
- 42:57SPEAKER_08: And then the video with Robert Williams.
- 42:59SPEAKER_10: Be happy.
- 43:00SPEAKER_16: So great.
- 43:01SPEAKER_08: Alright, what's your pick?
- 43:02SPEAKER_08: Oh, my pick?
- 43:03SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 43:03SPEAKER_16: In every life we have some problems.
- 43:06SPEAKER_16: The most annoying song known to man.
- 43:10SPEAKER_16: Revolution number nine.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Be happy.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: Don't worry.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: Be happy now.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 43:20SPEAKER_16: Let's hear revolution number nine.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine.
- 43:37SPEAKER_08: Listen to this with headphones on because it's going back and forth.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine.
- 43:50SPEAKER_16: See, I'm just sitting here, I'm annoyed.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:56SPEAKER_16: Now imagine blasting this.
- 44:00SPEAKER_08: I think I would go crazy.
- 44:02SPEAKER_16: Heck yeah.
- 44:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you win.
- 44:11SPEAKER_08: I don't even want to play mine.
- 44:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I think you're gonna get four in a row.
- 44:21SPEAKER_08: I really do.
- 44:22SPEAKER_16: I'm telling you right now, if the FBI had played this at the siege at Waco, they would have given up in like half an hour.
- 44:29SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 44:29SPEAKER_16: They would have been all walking out like you got us.
- 44:32SPEAKER_16: Number nine.
- 44:33SPEAKER_16: You know, David Carrash would be coming out.
- 44:35SPEAKER_16: Yep, you won! We're out of here.
- 44:37SPEAKER_08: Yeah, see, mine was just uh just a crank.
- 44:42SPEAKER_08: I was just gonna crank something.
- 44:58SPEAKER_08: This is of course the video.
- 45:04SPEAKER_14: Is that the pen?
- 45:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 45:06SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 45:06SPEAKER_08: I don't think I've ever seen the video all the way through.
- 45:08SPEAKER_14: I don't know why it's the future.
- 45:10SPEAKER_14: Why do you need a pen?
- 45:13SPEAKER_08: It's paper made too.
- 45:15SPEAKER_16: Oh wow, fancy.
- 45:16SPEAKER_16: I bet it's one of those pens that erases.
- 45:21SPEAKER_16: Oh, he must be the drummer.
- 45:22SPEAKER_16: He just made the next.
- 45:25SPEAKER_08: I bet it's an error on his forehead.
- 45:40SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 45:41SPEAKER_08: I love this song.
- 45:44SPEAKER_08: But after playing it over and over and over and over again at full volume.
- 45:52SPEAKER_16: Yeah, he wants the drummer! He wants the drummer.
- 46:00SPEAKER_08: So that's my pick.
- 46:01SPEAKER_08: Autograph.
- 46:02SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 46:02SPEAKER_08: Uh turn up the radio.
- 46:03SPEAKER_16: Turn up the radio.
- 46:05SPEAKER_08: And yeah, uh, I do think yours would win.
- 46:10SPEAKER_08: Because I was just going with a they're obnoxious loud, right?
- 46:15SPEAKER_08: So let's be let's be louder.
- 46:17SPEAKER_08: No, I get that, yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:19SPEAKER_08: But no, I would have got both of both you and uh both you and Larry.
- 46:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we would have drove them.
- 46:26SPEAKER_16: So Cousin Larry had Don't Worry Be Happy, Bob McFerrin, you had Autograph, turn up the radio.
- 46:31SPEAKER_16: Turn up the radio and I had The Beatles Revolution.
- 46:33SPEAKER_16: Revolution number nine number nine.
- 46:35SPEAKER_16: Number nine?
- 46:35SPEAKER_16: Number nine.
- 46:36SPEAKER_16: Number nine.
- 46:37SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 46:38SPEAKER_08: Alright, so future.
- 46:39SPEAKER_16: So future one.
- 46:40SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 46:44SPEAKER_16: Oh no.
- 46:44SPEAKER_16: We've already done this one.
- 46:46SPEAKER_16: How did I pick that?
- 46:47SPEAKER_08: I don't know.
- 46:49SPEAKER_08: I'm not in charge of the cards.
- 46:52SPEAKER_08: I put the drummer in charge of the cards.
- 46:54SPEAKER_15: Oh, this is a good one!
- 46:56SPEAKER_16: Alright, here we go.
- 46:58SPEAKER_16: 14-hour road trip.
- 47:00SPEAKER_16: No radio.
- 47:01SPEAKER_16: A whole CD player stuck on repeat to the worst song ever.
- 47:06SPEAKER_16: What song is played?
- 47:08SPEAKER_16: Number nine.
- 47:08SPEAKER_16: Number nine?
- 47:09SPEAKER_15: Number nine?
- 47:10SPEAKER_08: Number nine?
- 47:12SPEAKER_08: CD stuck on the worst song ever.
- 47:15SPEAKER_08: What song is played?
- 47:19SPEAKER_08: Who asked you?
- 47:21SPEAKER_08: I didn't ask you.
- 47:24SPEAKER_08: Interesting.
- 47:25SPEAKER_08: I didn't even know.
- 47:26SPEAKER_08: I didn't think I touched it.
- 47:27SPEAKER_08: I didn't touch my phone.
- 47:28SPEAKER_16: Did you see?
- 47:28SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I probably just heard like something about C D?
- 47:32SPEAKER_15: C D?
- 47:35SPEAKER_15: Stupid.
- 47:37SPEAKER_08: So uh yeah, so okay, so uh road trip, no radio.
- 47:42SPEAKER_08: C D player stuck on stuck on something.
- 47:46SPEAKER_16: The worst song ever.
- 47:47SPEAKER_16: The worst song ever.
- 47:48SPEAKER_16: What is the worst song ever?
- 47:50SPEAKER_16: This is kind of yeah, no, this is you know, I was about to say this is like the last question, but it's different.
- 47:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it is different.
- 47:55SPEAKER_08: So yeah.
- 47:56SPEAKER_08: And we can't say something like uh baby shark because you wouldn't have a CD of Baby Shark in your car, I guarantee you.
- 48:06SPEAKER_08: Right, Doug?
- 48:07SPEAKER_16: What uh what I?
- 48:08SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_16: Why would I have that on C D that's what I'm saying?
- 48:11SPEAKER_08: So you can't really say baby shark because Oh, it's it would be like a CD I own.
- 48:16SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 48:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah, of course, yeah.
- 48:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, okay.
- 48:18SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 48:18SPEAKER_16: So otherwise, you know, unless I stole the car.
- 48:23SPEAKER_13: I stole a minivan and it's like baby shark doot doo doo doo doo doo, baby shark doot doo, and I'll be like, nah, turn it myself in.
- 48:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah, but okay, so no radio.
- 48:34SPEAKER_08: Couldn't you just turn it off?
- 48:36SPEAKER_08: What?
- 48:37SPEAKER_08: Couldn't you just turn off the the Well, I suppose.
- 48:41SPEAKER_08: But that's there's no fun in that.
- 48:43SPEAKER_16: But I was gonna, you know, I was gonna say, our podcast is not on CD, so you can't be that doesn't count.
- 48:48SPEAKER_16: That's true.
- 48:49SPEAKER_13: That would be like, oh my god, I can't listen to these two morons anymore! I'm gonna drive myself off a cliff.
- 48:57SPEAKER_16: So I don't know.
- 48:58SPEAKER_08: You just sounded like Sam Kinnison there for a second.
- 49:01SPEAKER_08: I miss Sam Kinnison.
- 49:03SPEAKER_08: I miss Sam Kinison too.
- 49:04SPEAKER_08: Did you ever see that bit that he did about uh starving people in Africa?
- 49:09SPEAKER_15: Oh my freaking word.
- 49:11SPEAKER_15: It is hysterical.
- 49:14SPEAKER_15: And you know what?
- 49:15SPEAKER_15: He is so right.
- 49:16SPEAKER_15: He is right.
- 49:17SPEAKER_15: He is absolutely right.
- 49:19SPEAKER_15: We're gonna we're gonna go ahead and move you to where the food is!
- 49:24SPEAKER_13: There's no food over here.
- 49:27SPEAKER_13: You live in the ball sand! You can't grow things in sand! Come to where the food is.
- 49:36SPEAKER_15: We're so terrible, but that's so funny.
- 49:38SPEAKER_15: Can you play that at the at the end, though?
- 49:40SPEAKER_15: At the end?
- 49:40SPEAKER_15: At the end.
- 49:40SPEAKER_15: That'll be our like out outro.
- 49:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_08: I'll put some Sam Kennison.
- 49:45SPEAKER_08: I'll bookend Sam Pennerson.
- 49:46SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 49:46SPEAKER_15: I I do miss Sam Pinson.
- 49:48SPEAKER_15: He was kicking where the food is.
- 49:49SPEAKER_15: Take it where the food is.
- 49:53SPEAKER_16: It's hard to believe he was a Pentecostal preacher.
- 49:55SPEAKER_08: I know, right?
- 49:56SPEAKER_08: I saw the interview.
- 49:57SPEAKER_08: He did an interview with Johnny Carson and David Letterman or something like he was talking about that.
- 50:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_08: That's crazy.
- 50:02SPEAKER_16: But I I've actually seen videos of him actually preaching.
- 50:05SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 50:05SPEAKER_16: And he would he had that same energy.
- 50:07SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 50:08SPEAKER_16: You know, he gave he gave it that energy, but you know, he was very, you know, you know, Pentecostal.
- 50:13SPEAKER_08: Right, right.
- 50:14SPEAKER_15: But no, I don't know.
- 50:16unknown: Yeah.
- 50:16SPEAKER_08: I just remember that song, too, that he did Wild Thing.
- 50:19SPEAKER_08: Oh, it's a good thing.
- 50:19SPEAKER_08: With all those with all those 80s uh hairband guys and Jessica Hahn and the.
- 50:23SPEAKER_13: I can taste everything I can taste what you had for lunch.
- 50:29SPEAKER_13: No, I I can taste what other men had for lunch.
- 50:35SPEAKER_13: You're a demon from hell, but I love you.
- 50:39SPEAKER_13: You do sound like him.
- 50:41SPEAKER_15: I tell you, I used to listen to Sam all the time.
- 50:44SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_16: All the time, because he was just Of course, I was in the Marines then, so I was in a different headspace.
- 50:50SPEAKER_16: You know.
- 50:51SPEAKER_16: So I was just, but we I just used to listen to Sam Kinnison like constantly.
- 50:55SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 50:56SPEAKER_16: I even have it on vinyl.
- 50:58SPEAKER_08: So do you know who was so so before we go to break, because we're gonna go to break here in a second, but um I like watching comedians like on reels, like on Instagram and things like that.
- 51:10SPEAKER_08: Do you have someone that you follow that you watch all the time?
- 51:14SPEAKER_08: Besides like Brian Regan, I watch Brian Regan all the time.
- 51:17SPEAKER_08: Uh but I have a new uh a new comedian that I really like.
- 51:20SPEAKER_16: Not really.
- 51:21SPEAKER_08: No.
- 51:22SPEAKER_16: I just once in a while I'll see like different like Jim Brewer or you know, something like somebody like that.
- 51:27SPEAKER_08: I have a couple there's there's two, and and I gotta say, I I love Brian Regan because he's clean.
- 51:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 51:34SPEAKER_08: You know, I mean He's clean and he's funny.
- 51:36SPEAKER_08: He's clean and he's funny, and he's uh and it's a lot of it is his facial expressions, yeah.
- 51:41SPEAKER_08: And it's the voice, he's just naturally funny, yeah, yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_08: Now the the two that I I can't I'm not sure I can remember uh the one guy's name, but I see him all the time, and I haven't followed him yet, but I'm thinking about following it.
- 51:54SPEAKER_08: But the one guy um that I do follow is a guy by the name of Jeff Arkuri.
- 52:00SPEAKER_08: And he does crowd work like nobody I've ever seen.
- 52:06SPEAKER_08: Um it's it he's so quick on his feet.
- 52:11SPEAKER_08: Like most of the things that you see that he posts are him working with the crowd.
- 52:16SPEAKER_08: Okay, yeah, and it's it I'll and I'll have to show you some.
- 52:18SPEAKER_08: It's friggin' hilarious.
- 52:20SPEAKER_08: And then there's this guy, it says Brad Williams fan, but that he's not Brad Williams.
- 52:24SPEAKER_08: Uh I don't think he is.
- 52:26SPEAKER_08: Maybe he is Brad Williams.
- 52:28SPEAKER_08: Um but oh, maybe it is Brad Williams.
- 52:32SPEAKER_08: Um he's really funny too.
- 52:33SPEAKER_08: He does a lot of crowd work, but you know, there's just and there's not that there's anything wrong with like a lot of F-bombs and a lot of innuendo and things like that, but you know, can you do it without that?
- 52:45SPEAKER_16: Well, I mean, it that's that's funny when you're a kid.
- 52:51SPEAKER_08: It's also funny, you have to be in the right mood.
- 52:53SPEAKER_16: But after but when you get to be a certain age, you're just like, I don't need to hear that.
- 52:58SPEAKER_16: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:58SPEAKER_16: I don't need to hear sex jokes.
- 53:00SPEAKER_16: Yeah, I don't, I don't, I want to, I just want to laugh.
- 53:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 53:04SPEAKER_08: And that's why I like Brian Regan.
- 53:05SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 53:05SPEAKER_08: But I will show you uh some stuff from Brad Williams and from Jeff R.
- 53:10SPEAKER_08: Curry when we're off the podcast because it's pretty funny stuff to see them uh so quick on their feet is pretty is pretty great.
- 53:18SPEAKER_08: Uh anyway, uh I just wanted to pass that on.
- 53:20SPEAKER_08: So um that's not a plug for Jeff R.
- 53:22SPEAKER_08: Curry and Brad Williams, but it is a plug for Brian Regan.
- 53:26SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 53:26SPEAKER_08: There we go.
- 53:27SPEAKER_08: We highly recommend Brian Regan.
- 53:29SPEAKER_08: Uh oh, and uh let's put our but we should have our buddy on sometime, our comedian buddy, Ryan Gartley.
- 53:36SPEAKER_08: I'd love to have Dart on.
- 53:37SPEAKER_08: We should reach out to him and have him on the podcast.
- 53:38SPEAKER_08: That would be fun.
- 53:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that would be fun.
- 53:40SPEAKER_08: Um Alright, we're gonna take a break and we're gonna come back and we'll have our bonus Beatles pit and climb the Wall of Tunes.

- 55:21SPEAKER_08: Um Alright, we're going to uh climb the wall of tunes.

- 55:31SPEAKER_15: Great.
- 55:32SPEAKER_15: Thank you.
- 55:33SPEAKER_08: And while I take my headphones off and climb this giant wall of tunes that uh our friend Elso said.
- 55:39SPEAKER_15: Oh crap.
- 55:40unknown: Yes.
- 55:40SPEAKER_08: Um It's Yoge.
- 55:42SPEAKER_08: That's Yoge.
- 55:43SPEAKER_08: Um Doug's gonna read from Steve Turner.
- 55:46SPEAKER_08: A Hard Day's Right.
- 55:47SPEAKER_08: Hard Day's Right.
- 55:48SPEAKER_08: What song are we talking about today?
- 55:49SPEAKER_16: We're talking about Baby You're a Rich Man.
- 55:52SPEAKER_08: Go for it.
- 55:52SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 55:55SPEAKER_16: As with A Day in the Life, two unfinished songs were sewn together to create Baby You're a Rich Man, which opens with John's section, origin originally titled One of the Beautiful People, and then moves up a gear for Paul's course about the rich man.
- 56:11SPEAKER_16: The beautiful people was then a term for a generation of hippies who, with their long hair, free love, and dope, created an alternative to straight society.
- 56:20SPEAKER_16: They used the word beautiful freely in their conversations to describe anything of which they approved.
- 56:25SPEAKER_16: Quote, at the back of my mind, somewhere, there is something which tells me that everything is beautiful, unquote, said Paul in a stoned rap of an interview with International Times in January 1967.
- 56:39SPEAKER_16: Quote, instead of opposing things like, oh, I don't like that television show, or no, I don't like the theater, I know really that it's all great and that everything's great, and there is no bad ever, if I can think of it all as great.
- 56:54SPEAKER_16: That is the stupidest sentence I've ever read.
- 56:58SPEAKER_08: Well, did you read it?
- 56:58SPEAKER_08: Because I don't think you made it through.
- 57:00SPEAKER_16: I I I couldn't, I I had a hard time, man.
- 57:03SPEAKER_16: My brain was like, this is stupid, stop reading.
- 57:06SPEAKER_16: Alright.
- 57:07SPEAKER_16: Uh let's see.
- 57:08SPEAKER_16: In 1967, San Francisco was regarded as the city of the beautiful people because it was here that the hippie movement was first noticed by the media and where the first psychedelic happenings and mass open-air tribal gatherings had taken place.
- 57:22SPEAKER_16: Although the Beatles played San Francisco in 1964, 1965, and 1966, they really didn't get to explore the city until 1967.
- 57:31SPEAKER_16: Paul was the first to visit on April 4 when he dropped in on a Jefferson airplane rehearsal and jammed on guitar.
- 57:38SPEAKER_16: Paul was next on August 7th when he descended on Haight Ashbury, the district in San Francisco that had given birth to underground newspapers, psychedelic poster art, communes, crash pads, head shops, free clinics, and legions of exotic street people.
- 57:56SPEAKER_16: You are our leader, George, one hippie shouted as he set off walking from the corner of Hate and Masonic with Patty.
- 58:03SPEAKER_16: Neil Aspinall and Derek Taylor beside him.
- 58:06SPEAKER_16: Quote, you know where it's at, quote, unquote.
- 58:10SPEAKER_16: George was taken aback at the drug-glazed adoration of those who began to push flowers, poems, posters, and drugs at him.
- 58:18SPEAKER_16: Quote, if you should be you it's you who should be leading yourself, unquote.
- 58:23SPEAKER_16: He told his would-be followers, you don't want to be following leaders, me or anyone else.
- 58:28SPEAKER_16: When he arrived at the park, George sat on the grass, listened to other people's songs, and then started to sing Baby You're a Rich Man.
- 58:36SPEAKER_16: The Rich Man in Paul section is reputed to be manager Brian Epstein.
- 58:40SPEAKER_16: And in a demo version of the song, John maligns him by singing, Baby, you're a rich let's not say that.
- 58:48SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 58:48SPEAKER_16: Okay, you're a rich bleep bleep.
- 58:51SPEAKER_16: The point was, said John, stop moaning.
- 58:53SPEAKER_16: You're a rich man and we're all rich men.
- 58:55SPEAKER_08: You're a rich British cigarette.
- 58:57SPEAKER_16: Nope.
- 58:57SPEAKER_16: Well, that was part of it.
- 58:58SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 59:00SPEAKER_08: You're a rich Oh, uh, was it F U?
- 59:04SPEAKER_16: No.
- 59:05SPEAKER_16: No.
- 59:05SPEAKER_16: You're a rich British slang for a cigarette.
- 59:09SPEAKER_16: That's what I meant, yeah.
- 59:10SPEAKER_16: Jew.
- 59:10SPEAKER_16: Oh.
- 59:11SPEAKER_16: Yeah, that's what I didn't.
- 59:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah, so.
- 59:12SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 59:14SPEAKER_16: Okay.
- 59:15SPEAKER_16: That's a good one.
- 59:16SPEAKER_16: Yeah, okay.
- 59:17SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 59:18SPEAKER_16: Thanks for that.
- 59:18SPEAKER_16: Let's turn this up.
- 59:20SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 59:22SPEAKER_16: It's actually not a terrible song.
- 59:23SPEAKER_16: It's not one of my favorites, but it's not a terrible song.
- 59:31SPEAKER_08: What does that sound like?
- 59:42SPEAKER_08: Put a little love in your heart.
- 59:46SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 59:48SPEAKER_08: Baby Your Rich Man.
- 59:51SPEAKER_08: The greatest songwriting duo ever.
- 59:53SPEAKER_16: Lennon and McCartney.
- 59:55SPEAKER_08: Speaking of songwriting, I wanted to um mention something.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_08: You had a bone to pick.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_08: I had a bone to pick.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_08: Um so I don't like to because I don't necessarily believe in songwriting competitions.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_16: Oh, I thought you were gonna say like aliens or something.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_08: Nope, I don't I don't believe in songwriting competitions.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_08: I don't believe in battle of the bands.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_16: Well, none of us you know, well us and as far as you, me, and Shane, we've always been like Battle of the Bands is stupid.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_08: Right, because music is not a competition.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's you know it's for everybody.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_08: Our band is not better than yours.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it's just different.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_08: Your your band's not better than ours, it's just different.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_08: People people may like your band more, which is great.
- 1:00:36unknown: Yeah.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_08: You know, but it's not a competition.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_08: Um so uh songwriting competition, you know, you know, I've been a struggling songwriter.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_08: I we've been over this.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_08: You know, I I I just on a whim, I entered um a cont uh contest for the Maine Songwriters Association, which I'm a member.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_08: And you know, they have a newsletter that they put out monthly, and you know, there's it's all uh everything that they do is based in southern Maine.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_16: Oh, of course.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_16: So because they don't believe anything exists above Bangor.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_08: And but you know, we have that problem with everything in Maine.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_08: The world Maine ends at Bangor.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_08: Um and that's one stitch in my craw, if you will.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_08: Is that anytime there's a workshop or anytime there's a chance to uh do an open mic or you know, things like that, it's always down there.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_08: And so anyway, I entered one of my songs, and it was uh it was a song that I had professionally demoed.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_08: You know which one I'm talking about, probably.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_08: It's a country song.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_08: Um it doesn't have to be a country song, but the particular demo that I had made for it is country.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_16: Right.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_08: Um it's a catchy tune.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_08: And there's no sour grapes as far as uh the fact that I didn't get picked as a finalist.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_08: There's no sour grapes there.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_08: Um I do have a list of the six or so people that did get picked as finalists and the names of their songs.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_08: So I so the song that I submitted is called Raise Your Voice, and it's it's I don't know, how would you describe Raise Your Voice?
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_08: It's got a clever turnaround uh in the last verse, uh, but there's a message to it.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_08: Um anyway, so I listened to some of the songs that were finalists, and I'm not gonna say any of them are bad songs.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_08: They're all great songs.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_08: They're all uh folk songs that have no true.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_08: They are how can I say this?
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_08: They're modeling not all of them.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_08: There's no catchy part to them.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_08: There's no ear candy.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_08: Um and just try not to So here's here's my the stitch in my crawl, besides the the fact that it's all based in southern Maine.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_08: Change the name of your organization to the Maine Folk Songwriters Association Because they're also promoting this thing with the Newport Folk Festival.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_08: You know, there are more songwriters in Maine that uh well, are there songwriters in Maine that don't write folk songs?
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_08: I like folk songs, don't get me wrong, I'm not I'm not trashing folk songs.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_08: But if I'm a member of the Maine Songwriters Association, how is my quote unquote commercial song that is ear candy going to compete with a folk song that may tell a great story but won't get played on the radio.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:31SPEAKER_08: So this is just me venting a little bit.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_08: Change the name of your organization if that's if that's the kind of song you're looking for, okay.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_08: Don't just open it up to any songwriter because because I'm gonna submit my songs, but they're not folk songs.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_08: Almost all of the songs, and this is not to take anything away from the finalists, because they're great.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_08: They are great songs.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_08: Um actually there might be one or two that I didn't really care for.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_08: But the rest of them are great.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_08: I like them.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_08: They're good songs.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_08: Um I have my pick for who I think should win.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_08: Um but I think you should change the name of your organization.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_16: You keep saying yours like it's mine.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_16: I I Well, I'm just I'm looking at you.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_16: I know, and I I'm I'm very uncomfortable.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_08: Because I know the main songwriters association is gonna listen to this podcast and say, Oh, you know, he's right.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_15: He's right.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_15: We do folks' music only, really pretty much pretty much exclusively.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_15: So maybe we should.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_15: Let me turn down my avid brothers CD.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_08: Well, no, it's not even Avid Brothers.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_08: It's it's um It's like Noah Khan and No, no, it's not even that.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_08: It's I'll play some for you.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_08: Uh I really don't want to.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_08: I know.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_08: I keep but I keep saying I'm gonna do this after the podcast, and then the podcast ends and we never get to it.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_08: But uh um, yeah.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_08: So that's that's the one thing I wanted to complain about.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_08: So we did the Beatles.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_08: I have an album.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_08: Uh I have climbed the wall, I haven't have an album.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_08: Uh so let's
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_16: Your solo ladies are very limited.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_16: That's not true.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_16: That's not true.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_15: I have a lot of solo ladies.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_15: But not in the wall.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_15: Well.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_08: That might be true.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_08: That might be true.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_08: I have Yeah, that might be true.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_08: But you can't go wrong with Bonnie Raid.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_08: No, man.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_08: Bonnie Raid's great.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_08: Um, and she's still, I mean, I don't know how old is Bonnie Raid.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_08: Seventy-two.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_08: Are you doing is that a guess?
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_09: That's a guess.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: Because she is still going like amazingly strong.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_08: She is 74.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_11: That's close.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_08: 74.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_08: Uh sounds better than ever.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_08: Uh just has a voice of gold.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_08: Um this is an album that I I don't know how it did, to be honest with you.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_08: Uh, as far as uh I should look that up to see how well this album did.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_08: But this was in the later part of her career.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_08: Uh 2012, this came out.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_08: Uh it's a great album.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_08: It's called Slipstream.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_08: Um, and I'll just yeah, I'll I'll play a couple of tracks here.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: Dr.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_04: Fithood, even on a concrete bench, can I get a win?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_04: Miss South Carolina 1975.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_04: Somebody told you a crown.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_04: You a steady home.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_04: Why do you want a baby?
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_04: You like that coming gone.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_04: Now you'll miss the five and a winter festival.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_08: This was uh released from this album.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_08: She does have a knack for reggae.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_08: Um, but you'll recognize it's like it's a cover.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_04: You got that hole over me.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: As long as I've got your love.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_04: No I'll never leave.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_04: Wanted you to steer my life.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_04: I am.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah, I can't think of the name of it.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_08: And it's been you right down the line, Jerry Rafferty.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_08: Okay, so this uh this album did better than I thought it it did.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_08: Uh it hit number six on the US Billboard Top 200.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_08: That's pretty good.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_08: And it hit number one on the US Top Blues album, top rock albums, uh independent albums.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_08: All number one.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_08: Wow, yeah.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_08: So uh I love you know, I love everything that Bonnie well, most everything that Bonnie does.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_08: But my favorite things to listen to from Bonnie are balance.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_08: Yeah, she's just got that sweet soulful voice.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_08: Take my love with you is the name of this one.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_04: That I'm wishing looking at the star, but I don't worry about you.

- 1:10:33SPEAKER_08: There's another ballad here.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_08: This is not cause I wanted to name the song.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm calling you cause you deserve to know you were not the reason that I had to go late at night in these hotel rooms I think of all I lost and what I put you through.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_04: If I knew the reason I would tell you I somehow the feeling slipped away.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_04: I only did what I had to do not because I want to.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_08: This is easily my favorite kind of music.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_08: Bonnie Ray, John Hyatt, Bluesy singer zonga.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_16: Sounds like she's using John Lennon's piano.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: It does darkness settles on the ground.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: Leave the day stumbling blind coming to a quiet close and maybe just in time.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_16: This is like the perfect song to end an album off, right?
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_04: For most lost the heart to know how to keep our best in mind.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_08: It's just such a beautiful voice.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_04: Time is turned an angry face.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_08: Alright, I want to get a upbeat one here to end on.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_08: You know what I've noticed?
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_08: There it is.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah, what everything went played so far and I haven't had a slide right.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_04: This sounds like a body top.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_08: Actually, you know what it sounds like?
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_08: It sounds like a John Hyatt top.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_04: It's not, but no.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_14: Definitely in that thing.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_04: It's all about the way to So anyway.

- 1:14:26SPEAKER_16: Oh, I'm sure we have.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_16: I don't know that we've done it.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_16: I would be surprised if we hadn't.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I would too.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_11: I will check anyway, because that's what I do.

- 1:14:45SPEAKER_08: Um where is it?
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_08: Just like that.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_08: It was two years ago in 2022.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_08: Um she won, I think she won a Grammy for it or something.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_08: Um another great album.
- 1:15:00SPEAKER_08: And again, that was two years ago, so she was 72 when she put it out.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_08: It's good stuff, man.

- 1:15:13SPEAKER_16: I know.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_16: We have not, sir.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_08: We have not done Bonnie Raiders.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_08: Well, that's good though, because I've got all kinds of tour.

- 1:15:33SPEAKER_08: So Bonnie.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_08: Bonnie Rain Bonnie on the radio.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_08: What was that Hodie and the Blowface song?
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_08: Uh from uh Fairweather Johnson that they mentioned Bonnie on the radio, and it was Bonnie Raid they were talking about.
- 1:15:48unknown: Uh I can't remember now.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's what it was on the second half of the album.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_08: Anyway, I digress.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_08: So that's it.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_08: That's episode Nope, not yet.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_08: No?

- 1:16:08SPEAKER_08: We had music last time.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_08: Do you remember you don't remember what it was?

- 1:16:15SPEAKER_16: Uh Senator, I don't recall.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_08: Wasn't it like a Satriani thing or something?

- 1:16:48SPEAKER_16: I know.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_08: Uh oh shoot.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_08: Well, where did that go?
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_08: Oh my goodness, this is where it should all be planned out.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_08: Um How would we do that?
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_16: You're just silly.
