- Roc: What's going on guys? Welcome back to Jersey Swap Podcast. We had a great long weekend of football, some playoff baseball. As always, I'm back with Dub. We're gonna recap week four of the NFL. We're gonna do our little college minute of bad beats and talk briefly about the Yankees' disaster in game one of the ALDS, sadly. So C-Dub: we don't even have to talk about it. It was just depressing. Doofus of the week. Doofus of the week is me. When I saw Stanton go up to bat, I lied bet the Yankees money line. Roc: Dude, I thought for sure he was gonna C-Dub: so ding ding ding, winner winner, doofs of the week, Christian, C dub. Roc: I don't even I don't even care. I was I was right there with ya. I was in the exact same boat. I thought for sure he was gonna put one four fifty. Dude hasn't swung a bat since April. Not not a single live A B since April. I thought he was about to pull one out of the out C-Dub: no. Roc: of Tropicana. C-Dub: That last hack that he had he was just I think it was just behind Roc: You you just behind. Just behind. C-Dub: it and he was that the swing looked good. I was I thought that was the one, but you know that was probably the e the quickest Roc: He was C-Dub: ten dollars I've ever lost in my life. But I'd do it again. I do it again. Roc: He's take behind, but for for those of you that that didn't watch the Yankees versus Rays, game one of the ALDS was the Saturday night, and the Yankees got one hit, shut out, lost one to zero. Garrett Cole actually pitched really well, just let up a bomb. And the offense didn't go get going. We had our first hit in the eighth inning. And C-Dub: That was a that was also a really depressing hit as well. Roc: There's two outs already. Austin Wells puts one down the line. Easy walk-in double. Austin Wells, a catcher, a catcher, mind you, tries stretching it into a triple for no reason whatsoever. There's already two outs. If you're on second base, at the crack of the bat, at the at the crack of the bat, you're going no matter what. So a base hit, you're scoring. You're already in scoring position. It's not like there was one out or there was no outs and you're trying to make something happen. There's two outs. You're going to score no matter what C-Dub: Hm. Yeah. Roc: on a base hit. So why would you do that? C-Dub: I I couldn't I couldn't give you an answer for why he would do that. It was one of those where it's I I think I don't and I don't know what their pitching plan would have been, but maybe they bring in a new a new hit a new pitcher after that hit. I think like any good any good manager, you play you play the no no till the no no's gone. And maybe they bring in someone else, and maybe the Yankees have more luck off I don't really know. I'm not the biggest baseball guy, but like you get a hit, you take you take the bases. You respect ninety. Roc: It it's frustr it it's yeah it's frustrating because like as a fan when you're sitting there watching you're just like, dude, like wha just stay too, like what are you doing? And I think Jazz Chisholm ha he had his defense after the game when they asked him about it, and I think it's like the most logical and like reasoning in the moment is that he was basically like, Well, Wells was just trying to go make a play, you never know if they overthrew him or if they won hop day and it goes Into the dugout, we get a run right there. So I think he was just trying to make a play and they had to make a perfect relay, perfect throw, which makes sense, but still in that moment it's just like you have no offense going. I don't know. C-Dub: You could say all that. Brother was out by a good second. Like, I'm telling Roc: Y I'll buy a good three seconds. C-Dub: you yeah, like I'm telling you, like, they didn't even need to make the perfect relay. They could have done the most mid relay Roc: No. C-Dub: of all time and he's still probably getting tagged out. If you're in the MLB and you are throwing Roc: I think that is just going what was going through his head though, which is crazy. C-Dub: from right field, you make that relay ninety nine times out of a hundred. I don't know. I don't know. I I get it. it's playoffs, it's anything can happen, baseball, blah blah blah. But that one sucked. Roc: Yeah. But we move on and at the time of this recording right now, we're an hour and a half away from game two. We got Cam Slitler back on the bump and hopefully Yanks can recover and not go into a too deficit because then we'll C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: be the light will be pretty dim in a g five game series. So C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: I digress. We we move on to our what college minute? College minute, yeah. C-Dub: That's all you. Rock, I was pumpkin patching during college. so it's beautiful Roc: That's lovely. That's C-Dub: full upstate fall weather, so I was I was unplugged but plugged in to scores around the league. I saw some good upsets some good ups upsets happen. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I feel like storming the field doesn't have the same allure as it did. Roc: Yeah, because now like with the the twelve team playoffs, like yeah, getting a win C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: in the regular season, like an upset, it's still like big like for your university or whatever. But it doesn't mean as much. Like if you think about C-Dub: It was it was who it was who beat Michigan. Who beat Michigan? Minnesota. And that's Roc: Minnesota. In Minnesota. C-Dub: a great win, but it wasn't there wasn't like a final drive nuke. my god, Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: touchdown, ten seconds left. You you stop Everyone goes the crowd goes wild. It was like Bryce Underwood struggling like he has been this all season and they lose and then, Roc: Every yeah. C-Dub: we're gonna storm the field now. I don't know. I think it's lost to lure a little bit. Roc: It it has. It's I I I think it just goes back 'cause the twelve team playoff now, like they realize that the regular season doesn't mean as much. Like you can lose, you can lose two two games, sometimes even three, depending on conference and who you play, strength or schedule, like and you C-Dub: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Roc: can still make it to the playoffs, still go on a run. Like Ohio State, whatever, two years ago, won it all and they lost at Oregon. And it's like in the moment everyone's like, the sky's falling for Ohio State and then they go on a run and win. Last year, Miami barely gets in, sneaks in, had two losses, didn't even play in the ACC championship, and then goes on a run in the playoffs, dominates. So I think it's just the regular season's C-Dub: Yeah, no, for sure. Roc: kinda a little satire now. Still still sick games, obviously, and it's better C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: when you're when you got those big matchups. But Missouri put BTA to to Florida. In in Missouri that was that was a big one. Obviously Florida coming off that big win against Ole Miss. They jumped up like twenty spots in the ranking, they were top ten, and everyone was on the Florida train. And then they go into Missouri and get the Alabama versus Mississippi State game was supposed to be one of the the premier ones of the weekend and Alabama showed that they're just just like that. They came into the year everyone everyone was down on them. They wanted to fire their coach based on last year. They wanted Du Borgone. And C-Dub: That's what I was gonna say. It's when does when does this talk come back though? When does the fire devour talk come back? What week? I I'd look at their schedule right now. Let me look their schedule. Roc: They're dude, their offense is insane. This this matchup, they will they play they play Georgia this week. And yeah, yeah. It's but I don't I C-Dub: so it's this week. shit, yeah, no no no. So this week is when the fire devour comes back. Okay. Just wanted to make sure. Roc: don't I don't know because Keelan Russell, their quarterback, first year starting, that quarterback matchup, him versus Camario Taylor this past week, Mississippi State and Alabama, was so sick to watch. Like, you want to talk about just throwers of the football. It it looks so effortless by both guys and they're both studs. Both athletes move, get around the pocket, can escape, extend plays and then throw the ball seventy five yards. It's it that was such a fun game to watch, even though it ended up being a three score game. And I had another bad beat this weekend. I I'll try and just break it down. Yeah. C-Dub: Before you do that, before you do that before you do that though, are you taking Bama or Georgia? Roc: Yeah. I Georgia's been a well oiled machine in Bama. That that is big. C-Dub: No, it's it's in Bama. It's in Bama. It's in Bama. It's in Bama. Roc: I I love Keelan Russell. I think he's a stud. So C-Dub: Yeah. No. I'm not the biggest college ball knower, but that's exciting. I wanted to get your take on it. Roc: Yeah. So now we dive into week four of the NFL. And you C-Dub: Yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah. Roc: know, foot football's football. There's some gonna be some good games, gonna be some bad games, and let's start on that Thursday night game. C-Dub: Wooy. Roc: Browns 27, Steelers 24. And how about the Brownies? C dub calling his shot. C-Dub: bottom. I quietly, mind you, I did say very unwise I no, we were we were on it. I did say very unwisely this is Roc: Hey, we were we're both on it, but but you were you were all over it. You're all over it. C-Dub: my playoff team. I mean I think it was a Judkins wake up game. Getting him ac getting Roc: You got on the rock. C-Dub: him activated. I think I took his rushing yards which didn't hit but I mean he was a Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: he was a beast from the backfield though. So he he still Roc: Total back. C-Dub: played a still played a great game. I mean, we've talked about it every week. I think to be a good back you have to have that in your bag. And it sh it showed with some games p this past Sunday too. Denzel Boston, though. He's he's he's awesome. Roc: Dog, dog, both both Denzel Boston and Casey Concepcion. Say what you want, like Browns, Cleveland, whatever. They might not be able to draft the quarterback, but damn it, these last three drafts, they got probably the two best wide receivers in the same draft class this year, in the C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: second round and first round. First round with Concepcion C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: and second round with Boston. They last year's draft with getting the interior lineman Graham. They they they know how to draft everything but quarterback. C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: But lucky for them, they might just have their quarterback. C-Dub: Lucky for them they have a quarterback that can win you a division game. Roc: Sean Watson. C-Dub: That can win you a division game. And again, that was it was a Roc: first half he was so sharp. He was so sharp in the first half. C-Dub: He was great in the first half and then I don't I didn't even second half not as good, but at the same time, what it what did Roc: I guess he weathered. C-Dub: we say? Roc: It comes down to the final drive and he made plays. And he made plays. C-Dub: No, I think it comes down to there's still some there's still some Mike Tomlin in the water. Roc: Yeah. The scheduled loss. C-Dub: That's a Tomlin loss. That's a scheduled loss. And I'm honest, I did a lot of these because I find it really fun. I just like finding scheduled losses in random games. So I have some more scheduled losses as we keep going. But this was a Tomlin scheduled loss. I think this was a complete like a complete game from them, even though, as we said, it might have bit not been a full four for Deshaun. But it was it was more than enough. granted Roc: Yeah. Yeah. C-Dub: though, that Steelers team did fight. I don't think we we should be I mean, we're just talking about the Browns here. I just think it come down comes down to We're not used to a Steelers defense letting up that many points in in a division game. Roc: The only guy that showed up on that defense was TJ Watt. And it's kind of crazy because the Browns were missing three of their starting offensive linemen that game. They were on three backups. Yeah. C-Dub: I didn't even know that. I didn't even know that. Roc: And they just they really didn't get any pressure on him. Except for that third quarter when it was just TJ Watt going crazy. C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: Like TJ Watt was the only one making plays. So C-Dub: Yeah, no. You're right. Roc: I don't know, you got you saw a little you saw a little vintage Rogers there when they they came back that last last drive he was making here throws there. No. Three tutties, two picks, just under three hundred yards. It's C-Dub: Yeah, it's and he didn't play a bad game. He did three three passing, two two picks. I mean Yeah. Jalen Warren though. Roc: he's a workhorse. They should they should feed him. C-Dub: Jalen Warren's workhorse. Quite the quite the athlete. And I think I mean DK Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: kind of showed a showed himself. Showed Roc: Mm-hmm. C-Dub: what he can do. Showed that he still has s some glimpses of his past self. So Roc: Juice. Some juice. C-Dub: some juice. But that's Steelers Browns. And I will keep I will I will probably keep Roc: Yeah. Yeah. We're gonna move on to the Sunday. C-Dub: betting the Browns until further notice. Roc: Why not? Why not? We're gonna move on Sunday slate. We had an early morning across the pond game. Colts thirty, Commanders thirteen in London. Dub, what's your take? C-Dub: I just wanted to say, Colts thirty commanders thirteen, we didn't say that, but remember how good Daniel Jones was last year? Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I just it's been such a slow start, and a lot of these games, I mean, granted, what are they, two and two? I mean, they're two and two, they're not really standing out, and it was that was kind of a team I was excited for. I'm not sure about how excited you were or if you thought they were kind of fraudulent. and just him coming off his injury, he was electric before that, and like when they were in the playoffs and all that. It's but now it's like I don't know. I'm not really excited about them. They're not a team that excites me like they did in the past. Roc: I think obviously the Achilles injury it takes a little bit longer to get back fully when you're a quarterback. Like we saw it with Rogers, we saw it with Kirk Cousins. Like C-Dub: Yeah, I guess. Roc: yes, and Daniel Jones, half of his game, why they were so good last year's start season is he can move. Like outside of whatever you say, like he is he is an athlete C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. Roc: and when you take that away from his game, it's it's gonna make it a lot easier to game plan around him and he's not gonna be as good in as much of the threat just sitting in the pocket because he's not. One of the pure pocket guys doesn't have the best arm, accuracy, all that. Quick release, like some of these elite guys. So taking away that, like he's not running nearly as much this year, even though he had a rushing touchdown in the game this that morning. He's just not he's not moving around. And I think he's gonna find his flow a little bit. Like you saw in the Chiefs game, he had a little he got a little bit of his momentum going. He C-Dub: Yeah, and then I I even said then like I was excited, but then it's just I think he's had one Roc: It's C-Dub: game out of out of four where it's looked Roc: It's weird because yes, he he hasn't looked like like how he did the start of the year last year. C-Dub: No. Roc: But since him and Shane Steichen have been together, so last the first whatever, nine g ten games last year before C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: he got hurt and then games this year, they're averaging the third most points in the league with those two. Over thirty points per game, which is kind of crazy. Like, yes, a lot of it was carrying last year's start when they were blowing teams out, but Again, they put up another thirty ball this week. They put up a thirty ball against the Chiefs. C-Dub: saying, yeah. Roc: things. C-Dub: No, completely. I mean, do you have much to say about the commander's side? Roc: I I I do. I had to take brewing at I'd say around ten thirty in the morning on Sunday. C-Dub: Let it rip. Let it rip. Roc: dub, what's what's this saying? Time what is it? Time is a flat circle? C-Dub: Times a flat circle, yes. Roc: Times five circle, right? That just means like pretty much history repeats itself. C-Dub: What what's happened will happen again. Roc: Right? Okay. I don't know if for the the people that are watching, it's pretty early in the morning. Obviously Jaden Daniels wasn't playing. C-Dub: I was not I was driving I was driving to a Bills game, so I was not but Roc: Yeah. Jaden Jaden Daniels wasn't playing. Your star quarterback you drafted second overall, right? Mark's Mariota C-Dub: Yes. Roc: was a starter. And he unfortunately C-Dub: Yes. Roc: went down with lower body injury. And out comes this undrafted guy out of Ruckers, the Greek freak. Athan Calamanius. Undrafted rookie out of Ruckers. And Yes, he didn't play well enough for them to win, but man, did he go out there and toss that pill around? He was taking shots left and right. Finish the game with a Modest, a hundred and eighty six yards, one tutty, one interception. But he had a hit a bomb touchdown. Okay. I go back to the point. C-Dub: Yeah, no I know I s I watched I watched him. I w I didn't watch anything else from this game. I don't remember anything else. I just who's this Athan guy? Roc: We might be seeing Kirk Cousins 2.0 on Washington dub. This was the take that I had Bruin. zero, probably with zero first team reps the entire summer, the entire C-Dub: None. Yeah. Roc: first three we three weeks. He went out there, he he was slinging it pretty pretty well. He he he could throw it. And I don't know. That's just the to take the take that I had Bruin at 10 30 in the morning when I first saw him step out on the field was we've seen this before. We have seen this before. C-Dub: My thing is, if you're getting if you're on my team and you're a third stringer and the second stringer is the starting quarterback and goes down and you go into the game, I want you throwing a pick. Cause I w I Roc: I want you to throw on that. C-Dub: want you throwing a pick. I want to see at least one pick in the stat sheet. If you have a full Roc: Yeah. Yeah. C-Dub: full four quarters of football pretty much, and you have no no reps. I wanna I wanna see you Roc: To bo, so bra. C-Dub: I wanna see you unafraid. Roc: I he was unafraid. The ball was jumping off his off his hand. The ball is C-Dub: I wanna see you balls out. Roc: jumping off his hand. And we're we're talking way too much about this game because it was a boring game early in London, whatever. But man, I had to get that take off because that is the first C-Dub: that's a great take. Roc: thing that popped in my head. And just watch out for the Greek freak, okay? C-Dub: That's a be Rocco, that's that's a beautiful football mind you got there. That's a football mind. Roc: Just watch out for the Greek freak. C-Dub: A football mind. That's good, that's Roc: That's all that's all I had for that game. C-Dub: good, that's good, that's good. Thank you for that, Rocco. I am better off Roc: All right. Gotcha. C-Dub: knowing that take now than I was a couple minutes ago. Roc: W next game start the one o'clock. Man, how about them New York football giants, dub? G-Men 36, Cardinals 24. Electric. Electric C-Dub: I was Roc: finish. C-Dub: Now I'll have you all know as of the outs of the Bills game. Hence the hat. Hence the hat. I support New York. But however, I was so tapped into this game. And Roc: Dude. C-Dub: let me tell you, I was just keeping my phone up. I see Jameis's stats going up. I see a pick here. I see a touchdown here. I'm like, damn it. Are we getting a vintage Jameis game right now? And I can't even watch it. Rock, I want you to tell me. Did we get a vintage Jameis? Roc: W word for word verbatim from Dublin Eyes Text right now. I'm looking at it. He said, What's what's up with the Giants? I'm watching, but what's going on? I go, first quarter was atrocious. We were down fourteen to three. We were just out there playing tag, two and touch football. We we didn't want to tackle. We got a pick. Greg Newsome came out, got a pick, and it shifted the whole momentum. We started playing a little bit better. And then Dove starts texting me. Looks like we had a dogfight. As he's going on, Jameis is heating up a little bit. You're starting to see the Jameis experience, like he said. He's starting to get a little hot. The Spinelli household's buzzing. We're jumping left and right. Jameis is going great. And right before half he throws a pick. They go down, kick a field goal, and the momentum starts to stall a little bit. They shift. Cardinals are they're they're getting back on track. Giants look like the momentum's just we completely shot ourselves in the foot. But that's the James experience. And then he he goes back out there, end of the third quarter, fourth quarter, starts throwing that pill, finds Malachi Fields, finds Steel Johnson, who decided to actually catch a ball today. And Giants are they're they're leading. Great game. And back and forth. But w what it really came down to was the last drive of the game. Absolute cinema. Dub, I don't know if you watched if you had it C-Dub: I did, trust me. Roc: on I've never been that excited. Like genuinely, yes, it's week th week four, whatever. We're missing half our team. Odds are that when we start playing r better opponents outside of the Titans and the Cardinals, our true colors will show it might. But guess what? Guess what? Yeah. Yeah. I I'm C-Dub: You don't gotta say that right now. We don't gotta say that. Hey! The Cardinals have been frisky. Hey. Guess what? No tell me. Tell me what. Roc: I'm excited. We get a phantom, a phantom pass interference called on us. The Cardinals get the ball, workshopped at the Two yard line, first and goal from the two with thirty seconds left. We get a stop on first down. Stop on second down. Stop on third down. We got fourth and goal for this ball game. We're only up by six, mind you. So a touchdown, extra point. They they win the game, eleven seconds left. It's it's it's looking grim if they could just somehow find find themselves to get six feet. Two yards, six feet, and the Giants go to fall to a two-and-two record and Our season looks looks dull. And what what's not open on Sundays, dub? C-Dub: Banks banks are not. Banks are not. Banks are not. Roc: The banks are closed on Sundays. Deontay Banks, say what you want, might be a bust, whatever. He showed up. Brought C-Dub: I mean dude, no, I'm not even gonna say d pick six! Roc: that home. And G Men win win the football game. No, he played really well. He played really well. C-Dub: Did you see his tape from this game? D Dude, he played he balled out. I was I switched up like the Deontay Banks like pick and I like went down a rabbit hole of some of his other plays. Dude, he it it looked like a Madden user out there. He was he was he was locking. He was locking up. I know he's he's I mean, granted, it was just tape from this game, Roc: The whole the whole season he's played a lot better than his first three years. He he's been playing very well. And C-Dub: so I and I'm not that much of a ball knower to really know his past three three years, but I mean you look great today. He looked great yesterday. He looked great. Roc: When you picked that off, it was the most i I was screaming, it was the most electric I've been at for a Giants game in since Super Bowls, honestly, 'cause the last ten years has been so, so bad. C-Dub: Yeah. I wanted to ask you though, Rocco. I was looking at the rushing stats for the Cardinals. It seems like Jeremiah and what's the name, Algier. It seem Roc: Kyle Alzier. C-Dub: it seems like they were pretty effective. Did what I I wasn't watching it. Like, did they s did the Cardinals just kind of a go away from the run game? Or like Roc: L like I said, that first quarter, first half, it was touch football by the Giants. They were just getting six yards, seven yards every single time they ran the ball. C-Dub: Okay, okay. Roc: And we just could not stop throwing. We had zero pass rush. So they were just moving the ball up and down on us. And C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: then we got a pick, shifted momentum. And I don't know if Jeremiah Love got hurt in the second half, but they like stopped, they took him like out completely in the second C-Dub: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Roc: half. And like I don't remember what the snap count was for him. for the third and fourth quarter, but it was like a question that everyone was like, why'd they just stop going to Jeremia Love? And there was no like C-Dub: Okay, I didn't even I didn't see it. Roc: report like, he got hurt or anything. So I that was kind of weird. But yeah, they were moving the ball up and down and up and down us the entire first half, just running the rock C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: and we couldn't get a stop. And then we got a pick and it kind of just shifted us. We we woke up a little bit, started making plays. And it leads me to my my next point and final point in this game. Arvell Reese is a Absolute freak of nature. He was the only one showing up the entirety of the game. C-Dub: Dude, he led and he led the team in solos. Roc: Until the four nine solo tackles, C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: one tackle for loss, three pass deflections, and a pick in this game. Dude's putting up C-Dub: Dog. Roc: Ray Lewis, Ray Lewis stat lines, and after the game they asked him how he plays, and he goes, Decent. Decent. Come on. He's an absolute freak. Stud. I'm I I I'm I'm C-Dub: That was my that was my Roc: I'm so glad they fell into our laps at five, honestly. C-Dub: You know, I I put I just had my notes Arvell Reese, defensive rookie of the year question mark. Roc: Yeah, this this leads me to my my second kind of hot take. But I don't think it's that hot. I can see the vision. Okay. You said Arvell Reese, defensive rookie of the year. Okay. I I'm I I'm one one step ahead of you here, dub. I put this take out earlier this morning. I said, Is it crazy to say that as of right now, yes, we are only four weeks through the season. Arvell Reese has a legit shot to be defensive player of the year in the entirety of the league. Okay. Now I'm gonna paint the picture for you. With every award, whether it's college football, the NFL, MLB, MBA, there's always storylines that go along with them, right? There's never just an award based on just stats, based on just best player on best team. It's it's not like that anymore. You need the voters to have that that storyline of the Heisman when they get that that big upset win. You need the MBA, right? If if you're given the MVP out, it's probably Jokic every single year. LeBron would have won 15 straight, but there's storylines to it. KD leaves the Thunder, Russ puts up the triple double, he's the MVP. As of right now in the league, at least on the defensive side, there's no big storyline. All right. C-Dub: I would be I would beg differ if our friend Aaron Buckley was on. Mr Mr. Bill's guy. Mr. Bill's guy whose name I forget right now. Okay, nope. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Roc: But no, this this is where I this this is where this is where I go on. I said I exact I'm going I'm I'm this is my exact point. I said there's there's there's no big storyline, but as Buckley told us last episode, Greg Rousseau is leading the league in sacks and pressures. And I can promise you, unless you're a top two percent ball knower in the league right now and you're tapped in twenty-four seven to PPF and to stats and box scores. Nobody would be able to say, Hey, yeah, Greg Rousseau right now is defensive player of the year up in Buffalo. The only thing that they talk about in Buffalo is Josh Allen and the offense. Okay. So we're talking about the storyline. C-Dub: And I was trust me, I was there. That that's that's that's that's all you see. You just keep going now. Roc: So yeah, so Buckley said that, but I'll give you a storyline. All right. Arval C-Dub: I one Rocco. Roc: Reese in the biggest city in the world, the big Apple, already having a shot at winning defensive player of the year as a rookie. I don't remember the last time that's happened, if it's happened, in New York City with all of the injuries we just sustained. If we can be in contention for a wild card or division one divisional win comes week Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, down the stretch. I see the vision right now of the storyline that Arvell Reese is up there for defensive player of the year in the entire league, not just C-Dub: It Roc: rookie of the year. C-Dub: it could be one of those like I mean, with all the injuries you've had with burns, I mean ki maybe it I I don't know, maybe it could develop into a he stepped up when needed. Roc: I see the I see the vision. I'm just I'm I'm calling the shot early, obviously. C-Dub: I just said that 'cause I just said rookie of the year 'cause he's a rookie, but I mean Roc: Why not why not double down on it? C-Dub: I'll let you fly with that one, Rock. I'll let you cook. I'll let you cook with that. Roc: So i if you're into any futures bets, or just you know, hot takes, go go look at the the lines for defensive player of the year odds and see if you could find yourself an Arvell Reese play early. That that was my take on the last take on that Giants game. Dub, you had boots on this ground C-Dub: But that's all I Roc: for this next game. Patriots twenty nine, Bills twenty six in Buffalo. The C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: floor is yours. C-Dub: Yeah, okay. Yeah, boots were on ground. Number one, shout out to the the Buckley family for throwing a beautiful tailgate. Welcoming welcome Roc: Have you? C-Dub: welcoming me and my girlfriend with open arms. It just shows you how how well the mafia travels and they get you don't get a a a nickname like the Bills Mafia unless you really are a mafia and you let the family in, you know? I felt like family. That was beautiful. That was a good time. Now on t now on to the game. No wait, wait, wait, wait. Hi Marks, very very cool stadium. Very cool stadium. Very nice. the there doesn't seem like there's a bad seat. Very cool. Now onto the game. I think it was one of those It was one of those games where it seemed like whenever their defense was gonna make a big stop and you saw the decibels in the stadium and how how loud it was, they just folded like a wet paper towel. I know this has been a problem with the Bills and their defense. And especially I mean, even with their offense too. Like to me at that game it never seemed like well, I was shearing for the Bills. I was I was all in. They were never in the driver's seat. It was always if they had a lead, it was New England sniffing d stiffing down their necks, like right right on It was a very good game. It was a great game and it was one of those where we talked and we said kinda l like with our preview where we assumed that the Bills would cover this one handily because of how badly the the Patriots offense has looked with Drake May. However, I think this might this might have been the perfect varible spot, a perfect get right game for them. with a defense like that, like the Bills. I I I mean, May look good. he didn't really make any egregious mistakes. And I think if there's a quarterback story, it's more so Not Drake May. I think it was more Josh Allen. it Roc: Second week in a row where he's played sub level, subpar level of football. C-Dub: Sub level and there's and there's so and I I I don't know if I you probably weren't watching the game, but like it was one of those where there wasn't ever that in I don't and I don't know if this is the leg injury talking now. There wasn't ever that as I'm watching that decisive Josh decision, like I'm going. Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: Like I am taking this. And I don't know I have to search it up 'cause I should have wrote writ the wrote this down how many yards he ended with. But it couldn't have been a lot rushing. I mean He his legs were a no factor. four rush yards. And that is not a Josh Allen Roc: I had it on the side T V. C-Dub: that is controlling a defense and making a defense respect him. Which then allows him to air out the ball. Granted, that one Keon Coleman catch. Keon Coleman's Roc: Sorry. C-Dub: Keon Coleman might have been unlocked by Joe Brady. He looks re he He looked he Roc: He had six for a hundred six for a hundred sixteen in a tutty. C-Dub: looked really good. Like really like Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: very impressive. I was very impressed with him. But th I mean that's kind of my take. It was Roc: Yeah, all I had from this game. C-Dub: one of those where it's it's I go into this and I'm so excited to see and like okay. We're saying like Josh had an off game, they still they still put up twenty six on a good Patriots defense. So we can't really we can't really take much of what I'm saying seriously. But it was one of those games where the Patriots scored twenty nine. And wonder the Patriots scored twenty nine these past four weeks. They haven't. And they look they look good. Their defense, I mean, granted let up twenty six, but that's I mean, if the bills screw under thirty, is that a s is that a success? Roc: All I had from this game was I said in the preview, this was the game last year that's sparked the Patriots season, and I could see it happening again. Their backs were against the wall and they needed it. If there was a way, I could see it. I didn't think that it would happen just because they were looked lifeless and it was in Buffalo. But I said, if there's a spot, it's here. Divisional game. They need a win and they they know each other. I could I could definitely see it happening. And on the Bills side of things, which They did. They went out, did their job. Drake may look great. Pretty much what I saw from it being on the side TV was again, as great as he is, and he's probably been the best player I've ever seen play, like right like right now. C-Dub: Yeah, you said that. Roc: He he owned. He owned. It's like that that might just be their only like their only downfall. C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: Yeah, he'll play amazing and he'll play great, but it he needs just simmer it down just a little bit in those moments. And I don't know. That's all I C-Dub: Men Roc: had on this game. C-Dub: I'll say one more thing. I think I think every husband of every Buffalo Bills fan wife in that stadium would let Josh Allen sleep with their wife and brag about it. Roc: he's the man in Buffalo. C-Dub: It the pop what he ran out the tunnel, man. It's like I think the closest we're gonna get to Michael Jackson in Buffalo, New York. It's sick. It's sick. Roc: Yeah. He's he that's it's why it'd be sick if he can if he can get them all if he can get bring a title to Buffalo, dude, it'd be so sick. Be so sick. C-Dub: It would be it would be. It would be. But I I just after seeing it in person, just seeing a seeing Heimark turned into a Jersey Mike's Roc: yeah. C-Dub: Never a good thing. Never a good thing. The stadium just deflated. Yeah. I also, no what? We've talked way too much about this, but this is more of a fan experience. I love how every single football game I go to in person, there's always just one old guy yelling run the ball. How about that? You could go to you could go sit in any stadium, there's gonna be an a guy Roc: Yeah. Thanks, Coach. Thanks, Coach. C-Dub: over the age of 60 screaming run the ball. And it might not even be a run it might e it might be like third and twenty. This guy's yelling to run the ball Roc: Dude. That's cold. Sitting up in the in the the three hundred level. Run the damn ball. Thanks, coach. We get we gotcha. We gotcha. Yes, that that's C-Dub: That's not just a build song, that's an everywhere thing, but it's just it's awesome. Roc: exactly how it was with the the Giants game last week. The the guy three three rows to the right of me is yelling Give Scannable the ball, give scatter Okay, we get it, dude. We get it. C-Dub: man, that's so good. Alright, next game. Jets Bears. Jets twelve. Bears twenty Roc: That's gold. yeah. C-Dub: three. I didn't have much on this game. If you had something, you could speak your mind, Rock. Roc: There there it I'll tell you there isn't much in this game. The Bears just dominated completely. They had forty-two minutes and forty-five seconds of time of possession. Forty two minutes in the NFL football game. I'm just gonna leave it at the I'm not even gonna get in the player stats or anything. And I'm not we're gonna get off this game because it was boring. The C-Dub: Thank you. Roc: Bears had thirty 34 first downs. The Bears had 34 first downs. The Jets had 32 plays on offense. 32 plays. The Bears had more first downs than Jets plays. And that's all you need to know. That's all you need to know. We're we're getting into the next game. That's that was just a a good old fashioned beatdown by the Bears. Cowboys 34, C-Dub: man. Roc: Texans 30. This was a good football game, dub. C-Dub: You know what this was? You know what I call I coined this game? This was the stoppable force versus the movable object. Roc: Yes it was. C-Dub: This was the Texans O versus the Dallas D who was gonna show up. And obviously the Texans offense showed up. It didn't it didn't show up in the score the score sheet, but or th at the end result, I mean, but like, damn, Texans scored thirty points. That's awesome. That's awesome. Roc: This is a f fun game. And and it's it's crazy to me how we talked about it with like Micah Parsons, like how important like a one player is. How important is important is Nico Collins to the Texans? C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: When he's when he's not out there, they struggle to get six points on the board. They can't move the ball. And then when he's out there, he goes seven for 120 and two touchdowns. CJ Stroud has 350 yards and two touchdowns. They're moving the ball. Left and right. Like I get he's a good receiver. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't even regard him as like a top 10 guy, in my opinion. Like I think he's just a good, like he's a good one. Like he's a good wide receiver one on an NFL team. But man, how important is he to this offense? They were yes, it's Dallas defense, but what like they they looked incredible. C-Dub: Yeah. No they look good. They look good. They did they look great. it's just so surprising because like I mean, I think with the with all that being said, the Cowboys still edged us out and C D Lamb put up madden numbers. Roc: The the Cowboys Cowboys offense is just up here. Up here. I we said it before the C-Dub: I think it's a level I think it's a it's a game it's they're in a game of their own. Their offense. Roc: It's yeah, before the year I I was like i th I thought that was the best offense in the league. And if you just got a twentieth ranked defense, they would be winning the division by a mile and fighting for the one seed in the NFC. And it's like again, you get a defense where it's twenty eighth in the league, twenty ninth in the league, and that offense is insane. C-Dub: Then y you see them they just they just won playing a top five defense in the league. Which is just insane too. Like just they put up thirty four. They put up thirty Roc: It's it's crazy. Their offense is their offense is unbelievable. C-Dub: four. Roc: It is unbelievable. CeeDee Lamb had seventeen catches. C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Roc: 17 for 190. Dak, 330, a tutty. George, same here. W. C-Dub: I know, Adam and Fantasy. Weep Wee Roc: George Pickens had two catches, but two catches for 75 yards. Two bombs. It's like this offense is the it is fun to watch. And I C-Dub: Yeah. It is Roc: was really hoping that I I said it last episode. I I love watching the Cowboys as a Giants fan because they are fun to watch offense. And there's always just that that thought in the back of my mind that they're gonna Cowboy it up and somehow lose. And they it it was going perfectly to where it's a fun game. They go down and score. They give the Texans thirty seconds, and I thought the Texans were gonna go down and score a touchdown and the Cowboys are gonna cowboy and it would have just been the cherry on top. Getting to watch a great back and forth ball game, but seeing the boys lose. Sadly that didn't happen, but nevertheless, great game, gr great fun watch. C-Dub: Great fun to watch. Great fun to watch. That's a great way to put it. We're back back to regular sculptural program. what is it? Rams Eagles? Roc: Yeah, Rams twenty four, Eagles twenty and C-Dub: This this spot was we kind of talked about it last time. This was a s I think this was this was supposed to be a Syriani win that turned into a loss. to ten with four minutes and two seconds. Roc: It was twenty to ten and they had the ball at the two yard line on a first and goal and they didn't score. They had four straight plays of getting stuffed. They went for it on fourth and goal, and then boom, the Rams scored two touchdowns in a matter of four minutes, win the game. C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: It it was like I'm I'm so glad because I think C-Dub: No it's Roc: Philly's fraudulent, but if they went and won that game against the predominant Super Bowl champions already, super team, best team ever, with Jalen Hurts throwing for ninety yards. It's like, come on, man. That's such a Philly thing. Such a Philly thing. C-Dub: It is Scheduled Eagles win that somehow they lost. Roc: Turn lost. Yeah. The Stafford he looked he showed his age early in the in the game, two picks early, bad weather, shitty weather, and I he looked like an old man kinda, like an old man in the cold. His yeah, his his joints C-Dub: It's creaky bones. Roc: were joints were a little stiff. He just wasn't sharp. And then the second half came around, he finally decided to get the ball to Puka, who's back, and they they they rammed. They C-Dub: They did. Roc: scored quickly. They showed why they're Super Bowl favorites still. With a barely five hundred record and they got the win, which I was I was so pumped for. I did not want to see Philly go out there and get the win. So C-Dub: They got the win. They got the win. I mean we wanna see s we want to see one team atop the the NFC Beast. And we got that team atop it. What is it? First time Roc: Yeah. And we got that team. sole possession of first place in the NFC East. C-Dub: Which is just that's that was insane to think about. Insane to think about, but Roc: Sickening. Sickening. C-Dub: that's awesome now. I just wanted to say my one note, Saquon went out early with a hamstring. I I don't even think we're having a conversation if the Rams that the Rams won this if he was if he stayed healthy. Roc: I mean C-Dub: I think I think the Eagles win this one if he stays healthy. I know Tank Spigsy didn't do that bad, but I think it's just Yeah. Yeah, I Roc: He also w got hurt. Bigby got put on the IR, I think. C-Dub: think he did. But it's one of those where I think with I mean with Saquon, that's your that's your feature guy. I mean in a in in a game where Hertz looks like this, Saquon usually covers up those faults. Roc: Used to be he's not been Saquon recently. That's the only thing I'd say. Like he's just he's not he's not Saquon right now. Like he's not. C-Dub: You say that y You say that but he was hurt he got that stinger that one game and he gets hurt this game. I think it's tough. He got eighty Roc: But if it goes back to last season, it goes back to C-Dub: he got eighty yards the other two games. Roc: It goes back to last y yeah, but when you think of Saquon, you think of, you know, those explosive like big chunk like thirty, forty yard, fifty yards, maybe seventy five yard pop plays, run plays. He he hasn't had one of those in over in in in the past year. C-Dub: No he has it, but I think he's serviceable enough to get them a win in this spot when it's twenty to ten with four minutes and two seconds left. Yeah, no, I do too. I do too. Roc: No, yeah, and I I still I I I love Saquon and I still think he's a great player, but he's just not I don't know. From what he's shown me the past ten games now, going in the last year, it's just he's n he just doesn't look the same and their offensive line doesn't look the same. So I I don't know if I could definitely definitively stand by that. But no, it's not. C-Dub: I don't think that's crazy to say. I don't think it's crazy to say. But Roc: Nah. C-Dub: I I still think if they have they have Saquon or if they gave Shipley more touches. Shout Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: out Will Shipley. Will Shipley cameo. on the Packers Bucks. Rock, I didn't watch this game. Tell me about this. Tell me about this game. Roc: Good. Good. Good. ugly. Packers seventeen. Buccaneers fourteen. It was just a gross gross game by two I'd say I'm gonna say two bad teams. They're not they're not good, either either one of them. The Bucks started the first rookie this year to start at quarterback, who else than Jalen Daniels out of Kansas? And he he's electric, he's fun to watch, but he looked like a guy that made his first career NFL start. He was running around Trying to make plays, C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: finished with 150 yards, touchdown, two picks. But the Packers tried so hard to lose this game. Tried so hard. They had a fumble at the goal line and a pick in the red zone. So the seventeen to fourteen, the Bucks had the ball with thirty seconds left driving to go score. That got just dead with sacks and penalties and an interception to end the game. But it should have been realistically Packers by three scores. C-Dub: Mm-hmm. Roc: It was just an ugly football game. N really nothing to nothing to note and it was a good good fade on your end, not watching anything of it. C-Dub: Titans, Ravens, Titans eighteen, Ravens Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: twenty four. also didn't watch this game. I saw that Lamar went down early 'cause I have him on the fantasy league and it showed me that. they Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: s they were still above the edge out a win, and I think we we talked earlier, but like a lot of those Titans points came near the garbage time. my question Roc: Garbage time. Yeah. It was it was twenty f twenty four seven at halftime. Twenty four seven at halftime and the Ravens just didn't score again in the second half. C-Dub: My question for you though is, like when do we call the Cam Mord experiment over? Roc: Yeah. I I C-Dub: I looked at the stats and like granted I said I didn't watch this game but I looked at the stat line and it wasn't anything impressive and I I against a Ravens defense that hasn't looked as dominant as they had in the past. Roc: Yeah, i it it's tough 'cause like you see the arm talent, it seems like it's there, but man, he's just been bad. And it's been a full season now, like I'm pretty sure he started every game last year, and C-Dub: He did. Roc: then he's gonna start every game this year. So you're gonna give him two full two full years and if they have the first overall pick or a top three pick, which it looks like they're trending in that direction, falling to O four, not crazy to say you go and draft a quarterback because You have a whole new coaching staff, right? You have Robert Salah and you have Dayball. And what do teams love doing? They love going again their guy. They love going to get their guy. So C-Dub: I love that. And Dable's been proven to be able to do that. Roc: Very, very well could be the experiment could be over by March, April of next year. By draft time, come draft time. I C-Dub: Yeah, no, that's fair. That's fair. I mean I d I d I think he goes into them the echelon of quarterbacks that people think will be a a star on another team. Yes. I think he Roc: Reclamation project. Reclamation project. I which not crazy to say. I I think he's very talented. Like his arm is sick. He he make every throw but C-Dub: Yeah, yeah. I think he goes into the same category as a J J. McCarthy. Like No, I I agree, but like the echelon of like Roc: I think he's a little bit above that though, in my opinion. Yes. C-Dub: wow, this is a talent that like if a team that has their starting quarterback go down early and wants a project, he's like one one of projects just to like give a shot. Yeah. Roc: Yeah, yeah. The yeah. Lamar rolled rolled ankle out. I don't know how long that's gonna be. I think they said they're they're looking at MRI still, so hopefully it's not like actually like a few weeks. Hopefully it's just banged up this week, maybe misses a week. The last last C-Dub: Yeah, ideal world. Roc: thing, the only thing to note on this was they finally got Carnell Tate the ball at the Titans. He had nine for a hundred forty five, C-Dub: Nice. Roc: which cool, but we we move on. That game was also kind of boring. It was just, you know, Titans rate. Ravens, nothing crazy. I I said this this game had a chance to be game of the week and Dub and I thought it was gonna be a shootout. Jaguars twenty two, Bengals seventeen. And this was also just a sloppy game. C-Dub: Yeah, it was. It was one of the flag games. I I this one of the where I watched Roc: Yeah. A hundred C-Dub: tape 'cause I know we said we were really excited about this one. Jim Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: I think even with how ugly it was, I mean I don't think it's that crazy to call the Jags a top five team in the NFL. Roc: I was all over the Jags. I don't understand how they were three point dogs in this game. I I get everyone C-Dub: You did say that, yeah. Roc: loves the Bengals and their offense is sick. Their defense has looked a little bit better. And I C-Dub: Yeah, yeah, another awesome. Roc: just I think everyone loves the idea of the Bengals. You know? C-Dub: as this idea where you have you Roc: In it don't like joke. C-Dub: have T, you have Joe, you have Chase, you have this perfect three and then maybe the D Fest just Roc: You have it all. C-Dub: comes together. Roc: And then something just it's and Joe Burrow's a stud, like when he went on that run in what two thousand what was it, twenty-one? When they went to the Super Bowl, lost to the Rams, like he's he's that he's that guy. It's just it's C-Dub: Yeah, no. But that was he threw a Josh Allen pick. He threw a Josh Allen pick at the end. Roc: the honest d yeah, it was ugly. I I don't know what he was doing on that like the guy wasn't even he was trying to fit it to I it was Yuseki or Yoshivas, whatever his name. C-Dub: Yeah. I don't even know. I I don't even know. I just saw it I just said ew, I j Roc: And across the middle of the field it was it was an ugly pick. The guy wasn't open at all. Like C-Dub: No. Roc: it wasn't like it was fourth down. He just tried forcing it and C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: the the whole game in itself was just like Ugh. It it wasn't it wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. And granted, C-Dub: Granted Chase goes down. Roc: ch I we were right on lockstep, we just said yeah, Jamar, I mean, got a nasty, nasty face mask C-Dub: Granted. Roc: and was getting hit at the same time out with a concussion, which doesn't help. But C-Dub: Ugh. That didn't look good. Roc: I mean They threw it the T every single play. He finished with eleven for a hundred and sixty. So it's C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: like I don't know. It's just a kind of a disappointing game. And Jags are are legit in in the AFC. I think that they're they're right up there with one one of the best teams in the AFC. C-Dub: Yeah. For sure. next game, Dolphins, Vikings. the only Roc: Moved on to the four o'clock slate. C-Dub: The only thing I have to say about this one is I picked the Vikings in my Survivor League. I was puckered. I was I was Roc: I I thought you were gonna get into a bit. I thought I I never had a doubt that they were gonna lose, but C-Dub: But damn did they wanna sh did they wanna make it close. Damn did they wanna make it scary. No, I didn't wanna no Roc: I I don't know if you saw Did you watch the ending of the game too? I thought you were about to say the I thought I thought you were about to say you had you had the bad beat of the week. Because if you were on Twitter or if you were watching football this entire week, the spread was ten and a half for the Vikings. Vikings C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: minus ten and a half. There was two minutes and I think two seconds left, right before the last play before the two minute warning. And the Vikings had the ball at like the eleven yard line, maybe the the twelve or thirteen, something like that. Kyler rolls right, finds Hawkinson wide, butt booty naked, open on the left, and instead of walking in to cover the spread, Hawkinson takes a knee at the one yard line. C-Dub: I just saw they went at the end and I was like, Survivor League, we move on. Roc: Takes a knee at the one yard line and the Vikings knee out the clock the rest of the way. They win fifteen to ten. Win by five. The touchdown would have gotten them. They're winning against the spread, and all of Twitter and all of Vegas was in shambles. Was in shambles. That was the most noteworthy, noteworthy part of this game. It's crazy. The the Vikings defense is just insane. And their offense just isn't fully clicking yet. They they've won the last C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: two weeks without scoring a touchdown. Or without w with like seventeen field goals, whatever it was, the Addison touchdown last week. But they five five field goals again this week. It's it's unbelievable. But i C-Dub: Yeah. And they win. Roc: if they i if they can get the offense clicking they're gonna be legit because their their defense is unbelievable. But like you said, survive in advance. The next game. This one is up there for game of the week. This one's up there. C-Dub: This is no no. This is the game I had on the car. Roc: Six sick game. Chiefs 30, Raiders twenty seven. Dub's dog. Dub, take us. Take us. C-Dub: Can I say something real quick before I get really into this? Roc: Yeah? C-Dub: I haven't missed a dog yet. Roc: Yeah, you're C-Dub: I if we're counting college, I'm four for four on dogs. Roc: Wait, you're actually the dog whisperer. You're the dog whisp dub dub the dog whisperer. C-Dub: I don't know what it is. It was Browns. Browns covered week was that week two? Roc: Two. You you took Browns and then you went Yep. Then you went Wisconsin. C-Dub: I took the Cardinals week three. Covered against San Fran. And then I took Wisconsin. And then I took the Raiders. So dog's hot. Now Roc: And then you took later's toughest. C-Dub: that I now that I spoke it into the universe, my next dog will not hit. But we're four for four, and we're gonna keep it going. No, I'm gonna we're gonna Roc: No, no, we're we're we're keeping it going. We're keeping it going. C-Dub: keep it going. My big takeaway is that r regardless of the final score, I think the Raiders that was kind of a prove it game for them. And how can you Roc: They're good. They're good. C-Dub: If you're a Raiders fan, shit, you had opportunities. But how can you be upset as a Raiders fan when you give the Chiefs a battle? when they look this inevitable in and you're in the same division. Roc: You can't. You can't. C-Dub: I had some d I had I mean Kirk thirty five for fifty two, three sixty five. Raku, can I go off on a tangent real quick? This might be my mental Roc: Go. Floor's yours. I love it. C-Dub: I Don't even remember the tegments I said anymore. Christians should be in a mental institute. I was trying Roc: Yeah, yeah, yeah. C-Dub: to watch film 'cause I was at I was boots on ground for a game, and then I went down a rabbit hole. How did Bowers do this week this weekend? Roc: He weirdly and like obviously he's still stud. He had a touchdown like beast. He was on the injury report in the morning with an illness. So he was a game time decision and C-Dub: But how'd he do? Roc: I think he played pretty well. Tuddy. Yeah. C-Dub: Six for eighty six and a tud. Michael Mayer. How'd he do? Roc: Good. Dude, they run all three of these tight ends. C-Dub: Eight for eighty-two, Ian Thomas, two for thirty-two. Roc: With a tariff C-Dub: if we do the math here, that is sixteen out of Kirk's thirty-five. That's almost just about half. Then let's go over to another game that we that we talked about earlier. the Bears. Lovelin had six, Comet had two. Eight out of twenty five targets for Bajan. Let's go to our Giants. Likely had one, Theo Johnson had one like likely had seven, Theo Johnson had one. Eight out of eighteen for Jameis. And then on the other side of the field, the Cardinals with their with their tight ends, they had ten of twenty one for Brissett's. The tight ends had that many receptions. with an emphasis on Roc: where you're going. I love this. C-Dub: confusing defensive schemes, unique blitz packages, and defense is really putting the most amount of emphasis for their safeties to stop t to keep the lid on it. Is the league swaying in a way where they just want big guys that get open for short yardage plays? Roc: So I first off, I think the tight end is the most under like rated position in the league. They do everything. Honestly, they're they're linemen that are so skilled that they can go out and catch passes and score C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: touchdowns and make guys miss. I think you started to see it last year with McVay and them running thirteen personnel, which is three tight ends out on the field and C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: three out of their their nine that they have out there. And it C-Dub: I also want to say that I think it's along with Vay, I think Dan Campbell was also in on this early with Tesla and Laporta as well. I don't want to give this all on McFay, 'cause I McFay when you look at it's the four white tight ends that all look the same, blah blah blah. I think there's a lot Roc: He's boy genius, yeah. C-Dub: of teams that while the Rams are the target one, there's a lot of teams that have sneaky been doing this and have been building this kind of playstyle. Roc: Well, it's smart because Clint Kupiac, the new Raiders coach, obviously comes from the Mc the McVay tree. So he he he loved they did C-Dub: Yep. yeah. Roc: it last year in Seattle and he's just doing it again this year. It's it's a co copycat league. Every team's trying to do what what's hot right now. And you saw in the prime years with the Chiefs and with Tyree Kill Mahomes, everything was bombs away, bombs away, bombs away. So what defense started doing? They started putting two highs. Two I safeties and just shelling C-Dub: They put a lid on it. Roc: it, putting shell in everything, right? So then you see the little resurgent of the running back. You see Saquon going for 2,000 yards. You see Jameer Gibbs, CMC. You see these guys that they're starting to just ground and C-Dub: yeah. Roc: pound, ground and pound it. So now it's like, okay, let's fill the box a little bit, try and stop the run. C-Dub: Th thicken up the box. Roc: Well, while keeping the lid on, right? While keeping that shell. So what's that middle ground between the the bomb and the running the ball? It's the tight end. It's C-Dub: 'cause Roc: You get the tight ends out there, 'cause it it looks from the eye, from from the bird's eye view, it looks like okay, they're running the rock, they're running the rock. You you hand off, hand off, third time, hard play fake, tight end across, tight end across. There's this matchup nightmares. C-Dub: And I still think one of the greatest plays when you have a mobile quarterback is the late leak from a tight end. It you see it Roc: Yeah. Yeah, a little chip and go. C-Dub: you see it it's you see it happen so many times with these athletic quarterbacks where they roll out. Guy gives one chip and just kinda goes right into the flat and there he is, but booty naked 'cause 'cause there's a spy on the quarterback kind of following him and he gets left in the dust by the tight end. That's kind of making a move down the field. So that was kind of my thing. I went down the rabbit hole of kind of just going to through every team and granted I think I kind of cherry pick some teams. There are some teams where I think you can kinda pick where I think if you have two stud wide receivers, this might not apply to you. Cause you have you ha No, for sure. For sure. Like if you have Roc: Yeah. It depends all all depends on personnel. Like obviously Yeah. C-Dub: if you have George Pickens and and CeeDee Lamb, Roc: T D. C-Dub: you Ferguson's good enough and you you let the you let you let the you let the little guys run. You let them scamper across the field, they do what they do and they put up over thirty points a game. You do that. But I think it's with these teams that they might have one solid wide receiver option and then some some other guys. I think it's a really good way to just get your quarterback some confidence. Just middle of the field guys that can sit down, really have great have great body control and just kinda get open for for your for your QB. Roc: Yeah, I'm I'm I love seeing this from the tight ends just because they're finally getting their flowers a little bit. Like you saw for years, they they do all the dirty work like George Kittle, he loves black like I don't know if you ever see the the mic'ed up of him blocking. He like gets like he gets horny off blocking. And it's like, dude, it's it's like, bro, like if they're finally getting their flowers because it's like C-Dub: Yeah, I know, yeah. Yeah. Roc: the tight ends are being utilized and they're mismatches all around the field. They're literally a Swiss Army knife. But the only thing that I had, obviously. Raiders, I think, are a good, solid team. Like they're a good, C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: like playoff, they'll be a playoff in the mix. They'll be a good in-the-mix team. C-Dub: They'll be in the next, yeah. Roc: And if you're a Raiders fan, you should be happy about this. Obviously, not too happy because you lost, C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: but the Chiefs, though Chiefs are still the Chiefs. C-Dub: Got something to hang your hat on. Chief's inevitable. Chief's inevitable. Roc: And it looks like they're probably gonna get Tyre Kill back. So what percentage of Tyree Kill are we getting? He his agent just put out today that He's in talks with multiple teams and one of them is the Chiefs and within the next two or three days he'll be signed. So you're probably getting all a homecoming for Tyree Kill and Kansas City. I hope he's fully healthy, and even if you're getting seventy-five, eighty percent of him, he'll still be electric. So I think it'll be really cool to watch because now C-Dub: I'd take that. I'd take that. Roc: the Chiefs run games are already the best in the league right now. You add C-Dub: Yep, for sure. Roc: Tyree Kill, who's gonna run by everybody, it it it might be explosives. C-Dub: Might be your apps. Roc: Which will be fun. The next game, Seahawks thirty, Chargers twenty three. the Chargers are just bad. They're a bad, bad team. C-Dub: I had one thing though. Can we have a moment of silence for JSN is no longer on pace for a million touchdowns? I know. That one that one really hurt. I had some notes on this game. I didn't really watch much. This Roc: Yeah. C-Dub: is one of the games I got I wanted to see because we talked so much about the Chargers. I wa I watched some tape on it. Emmanuel Wilson. Why did I not know about this guy until this year? Am I just not a ball mower? I know, I looked him up. He was like I think it lasts three years. Yeah. Roc: he was on the he was on the Packers the last two years and he was the he was the backup for Josh Jacobs and yeah. He like he's he's a solid player, so he was a handcuff to Josh Jacobs, yeah. And now C-Dub: Great game. Great game. Roc: they put they put whatever his name is price on the the IR the Seahawks did or before the game started, so now he was their their running back one and yeah. Yeah. Come with that thing. C-Dub: Yeah. Look good. I mean, keep it a stack, thought he was a rookie. 'Cause I never heard of him. Keep it a stack with you, Rock. I d that's what I do. But my thing was yeah, as you kinda said, Herbert's broken. Roc: It they just look like they're just a disaster. Like C-Dub: Disjointed. I mean Roc: nothing's nothing's meshing. Nothing. It's just weird. C-Dub: For you, what has to change? Roc: I it it's weird to say. It's like I don't wanna say that 'cause it's so early still. I don't wanna say the season's like fully over, which i I think it is, in my opinion. Like I don't I don't think there's like C-Dub: I would say Roc: anything I don't think there's anything you can do in season right now that's gonna like fix what's going on. I think what it is is you have Jim Harbaugh, right, who's a a Harbaugh. He's a football guy and he loves ground and pound, old man football. Let me go draft the lineman at number five overall, number six overall, Joe Alt. They love running the ball. They want to see what be a hard school, old school football team. And then you get this offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniels, who is new school, loves spreading it out. I want speed out on the field. He wants his Waddle. He wants his Tyree Kill. He wants his Malik Washington. He wants his fast guys, right? And I I think C-Dub: I love this take. I know I love this take. Roc: I think you have two heads that are just butting that they don't they don't mesh because Harbaugh He wants to win the line of scrimmage, drafted Joel, drafted Amario Hampton, and he wants to run that thing. Run it har run it hard, run it down your mouth, and he wants to make it least amount of passes attempts for Justin Herbert. He wants to control the clock and he wants to win the game gritty. And then Mick Mike McDaniel wants to put up three hundred yards, put up four hundred yards, put up thirty points a game, explosive plays, and he wants speed out on the field. And I don't know if you watched, but the Chargers backup running back, Kekin Mitchell, Kiki Mitchell. He came over from the Ravens. He he's fast. Like he's a a burner. And he was the Ravens backup running back for years when they would just like rotate through running backs like Dobbins, him, before they had Henry. And he was always the speed guy. And he had like a crazy knee, brutal, ugly, ugly injury like two years ago. And they just signed him this offseason. And he's McDaniel's guy on that offense. He got the ball yesterday, found the end zone. Like He's what they like, what he McDaniels offensive coordinator likes. The fast, get the ball out in space, let him do his thing. But McD but Harbaugh loves the power back, Amari Hampton, running through the A gap, running through the B gap. And it's just a a collision of of styles right now. Yeah. C-Dub: It's a clashing of ideals. It's ideals. It's Roc: So I don't I don't know if there's anything they can do to fix that in the season right now, this year. It's kind of just like you gotta try your best right now to Work with what you have and it might be a a whole this is the season of hell and it's an off season thing where they have to get on the same page 'cause it's just not it's not working. It's it's it's bad football to watch. C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: That's my two cents of it all. C-Dub: It it is. And I know there's just such high hopes going into it. got one more thing. This might be a case of Herber being like CJ Stroud. Roc: Do tell. C-Dub: He had Ladd roading cardio. Johnson has had a really big fall off. And their leading receiver was a guy named Trey Harris, who I don't know. I mean, we Roc: Yep. From oldness. Not a bad player. Pretty good. C-Dub: have we draft a Marion Hampton. We draft Joal. Who are who else are we giving Herbert? Who are we giving our guy? For tight end, who do we have? Gadston from Syracuse. Shout out to Sar shout out Syracuse. Shout out Syracuse. Roc: Dog. C-Dub: Dog. Pretty good on Syracuse. But like. Other than Lad. Quentin Johnston has not been good. Like, who does he have? Who does he have? Roc: Yeah yeah, but I mean when we were looking at it in retrospect, yeah, he's not he hasn't been good. He hasn't. But they draft No, C-Dub: He hasn't been good la last year though he was bad. Roc: I I know, but when you say like who does he have, they're drafting guys for him. Like that's a first round they took him twentieth overall. Like he is a first round pick and he was coming in out of TCU like with these high expectations. So it's like they're getting guys, it's not like they're just not not like they're doing what they did the ro what the Packers did to Rogers. Where they just didn't draft the receiver for him in twenty years in the first round. Twenty years. C-Dub: Granted by me say I'm just saying like even trade for one. Like I'm just saying like your leaders the Roc: I no no. C-Dub: leading receiver's lad who was who's good, don't get me l get me wrong, and is a cle is a one. He but he's well, who was Roc: But he's not a one. I don't think he's a one. Yeah. C-Dub: he behind before? Roc: Keen and Allen. C-Dub: He was buying the number one, Keenan Allen, who granted was Roc: Yeah, I know. C-Dub: p far past his prime but is a proven one. And you put Ladd in the slot and he's electric. But now you're asking Roc: Yeah. Yes. C-Dub: him to run these number one these X and Y routes and look what's happening. Roc: I it it might just be a try and figure it out this year, but it might not be the worst thing to finish with a top three pick and you find yourself getting Jeremiah Smith, who might just be the best college receiver ever. C-Dub: Fair take, fair take, but then like what is what is but but what does Roc: If that's where if that's what it takes, like C-Dub: that do to Herbert's mind? What does that do? Roc: If if they go out and they if they do the have the season of hell and they suck and they have a top five pick or whatever and Jeremiah Smith or Cam Coleman, one of these stud receivers falls in their lap and they get Jeremiah Smith, who's the best player in college, I think it gives Herbert hope. But at the same time, he he looks fed up. I C-Dub: But it's tough to give but what's he gonna do this season? How's he gonna feel this at the end of the season when they're when they're when they get that pick? It's not like they're gonna bench him. Roc: What was the take? What was the what what was the hot take I gave about Justin Herber a few weeks ago? If C-Dub: I remember it. Roc: they miss the playoffs and it's a shitty, shitty year, I can see him stepping away of the g from the game. I can see him s walking away from football. I think he has more to life than football and it's crazy to say C-Dub: America will lose. Roc: 'cause he yeah, and I I I hope it doesn't happen, but he looks tired and he looks just fed up. Point blank period. Like he just C-Dub: Looks tired. He looks tired. I like that. Roc: he just doesn't yeah. C-Dub: All right, next game. Broncos fourteen, forty niners twenty four. I know I I know I had Roc: Dude. I C-Dub: the Niners, Rock. Who'd you would you pick? Roc: I I was all over the Broncos. I was all over the Broncos. It's so frustrating. No, C-Dub: No, I just wanted I just wanted to have that one moment. 'Cause I think Roc: have that moment. I I'm so frustrated. It's put it together. The offense is it it makes me like upset and I'm not even a fan of them. It's just C-Dub: Ha ha ha. Roc: I'm a fan of football and it's like their their defense is so good and their offense is just not put together. Like you go out C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Roc: and you get Jaden Jaden model. To be that guy and he had a good game yesterday, but target him more. Court and Sutton's a stud. They're not giving him the ball at all. They love Pat Bryant, who's a good, like, whatever, good slot guy who looks like he broke his leg in that game, which sucks. But a good number three. But make to have some explosive plays, and I don't know if it's Davis Davis Webb calling shots. Like, it's that bad compared to Sean Sean Payton. Get I get Sean Payton's like one of the GOATs. of football like he is. So it's like just take over the play calling again and you ran the experiment, you're a month in, you get you gotta get right, 'cause you're just having these games where you're not it's just tough to watch. It's it's frustrating, it's annoying 'cause you're better than what you are. And you're play their their schedule's been brutal. They they've played tough teams. Started out with the Chiefs, then Rams, Jaguars, Niners. Those are all like Super Bowl contenders. So they might be C-Dub: We're saying that but they're they're a super welcome tender themselves. Roc: No I know I'm saying they might be better than like I'm getting frustrated about like I I they're they're at two and two and I'm frustrated that they just lost. Like they might be better than their record shows. But it's just like, come on, man, I want to see four quarters of offense from them. Like once. And that's all I gotta C-Dub: man. Roc: say. That there's just a rant I had on them 'cause I I just it's it's C-Dub: No, that's fair. Roc: frustrating. C-Dub: Yeah, no, no, I'm I mean I don't got I don't got much else. if I could, I would put a feature on Brock Purdy that to win V P. If I could do it. Roc: D P he's ballin. He's ballin' dude. C-Dub: If I could do it I would. And last time I looked, I know you can't do it in New York or some some shit, but he's around plus four twenty five, second behind Josh Allen. And I mean I think that's a very good bet with how how well both sides of their their the ball are playing. I mean I think and I think the MVP, granted it's a quarterback one. Quarterback award. But it's also an award for how complete of a team you have and how well you just you just win games. And I think with the the team Roc: Yeah. I mean it typically goes to best record is what it typically goes to. C-Dub: And by and with how the forty nine are playing right now, I think they have a great shot at having the best record at the end of this season. Roc: That's not a bad Brox and Ballance, great take. C-Dub: And they didn't have any that's a win too. Roc: knock on, knock on, knock on wood. It's like I don't know. Just the the last part I had from that game is just watching the quarterback play like right next to each other. It looks so easy for Brock Purdy and it just looks so difficult for Bonex, which it shouldn't. Like I don't know. C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: I if you watch the game, like it's Purdy's just rolling out, rolling to his left, throwing to his right, making a play, boom, boom, boom, up and down the field, finding Debo, finding George Kittle. And then it's like Bonex scrambling right, guys like wide open across the middle field, and then he short hops it. Or like just overthrows, and it's like, why is it so difficult? It just doesn't make any sense to me. And it's just just watching them up against each other, side by side, it's just it was like night and day. To me, that's that's C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: all I had. C-Dub: Yeah. Then the last game lies twenty six, Panthers Roc: T yeah. C-Dub: thirty two. Rocco hand up. I got up early for the Buffalo game, I went to sleep for this game, Roc: it was a very, very fun game. And I loved I loved the over before because I just thought both I think both offenses are really good and the Lions defense sucks. The Lions defense is so bad. And the Panthers were C-Dub: Yeah. Yeah. Horrible. Roc: missing the Panthers were missing Their three starting DBs were out. So I was like, okay, their defense isn't great, but now it's gonna be even worse. I was like, I I think this is gonna be a fun game. And it it was a fun game. Bryce Young, I I love seeing him play the way he's playing right now. Another huge day. Three hundred plus yards, Tutty, Ted McMillan, 195 yards, two touchdowns. Like I I'm so happy for Bryce Young because I've always been a fan of him and he was brought into one of the worst situations possible. Their offensive line sucked. They didn't have a head coach and After one year everyone was just calling him the biggest bust ever. And you saw CJ Stroud his rookie year put up the gaudy numbers that he did. And it was like, my gosh. Stroud versus Young, the debate. The C-Dub: Yeah. Roc: the Panthers, they're in shambles. They suck. They they took a the biggest bust in history. And now he's playing like an VP. And I I love watching him play football and I'm so happy for them. They I I they're a fun team to watch. Lions, C-Dub: Looks great. They're a great team to watch. Roc: obviously. The Lions are a fun team, but Like it is every single year, their defense is gonna be the reason that they they can't get over the hump. And I really hope that they didn't miss their window because they were my Super Bowl pick this year. I thought that this was gonna be the year before they have to actually pay everybody, before they have to pay every single person on that offense. I thought that this was gonna be the last like prime window year, peak years that they have. And I they gotta figure it out. I don't know if it's a midseason trade, like You you can't even say Crosby anymore, which is what the rumor mill was forever because the Raiders are playing so well. So C-Dub: Can't anymore. Why would they do that? Roc: yeah, i it was just a fun game and a lot of points. Go off another three hundred yard game. It's their their defense is gonna be the downfall of them and they gotta they gotta figure it out. And that that's C-Dub: I think they will. I think they will. Roc: yeah. I I hope 'cause falling two and two in the division, the division's tough. Obviously Minnesota's undefeated, Bears are three and one and then Packers got themselves two and two. So it's gonna be a dog fight rest of the way and I I hope they can figure it out and you know they they can mi ha have some noise down the stretch. Yeah. So C-Dub: Gotta dig yourself out. And if I and if I and if I know anyone that could do that, it's Dan Campbell. Roc: Help. Dan Campbell, Man C-Dub: Dan Campbell. Roc: Campbell. So that was all the games on Sunday. C-Dub: Hey, Campbell. Roc: At this point of the recording, we're we're before the the Monday Night Football Falcon Saints has started. So the next time you hear us, it will be after the game and after after Monday Night Football, dub. Quick quick pick before you go. Who you got tonight? C-Dub: I have the Falcons. I don't even know the spread. Falcon Roc: I'm going with the C-Dub: Ooh, it's plus one and a half. One and Roc: Stance your favorite by three. whoa, really? C-Dub: a half, brother. Some line movement. Roc: I'm taking the Saints. they're doing the honoring the Hurricane Katrina thing in New Orleans tonight, I'm pretty sure. So see I th I think that's just I I don't know, yeah. Yeah. I don't know if that's gonna play a factor, but C-Dub: wait can switch? Can I switch? Can I switch? Can I switch? I didn't know it was a I didn't know it was a Katrina game. I didn't know it was a Katrina game. But I'll take that. I'll take that. Roc: we'll we'll we'll find out if we're right or not in about an hour and we'll talk about it. C-Dub: and I will say now I'm I d you know what I can't even post in time mortal lock. I would let the people know. Devon Vele over three and a half receptions. That's my mortal lock. Roc: Love it. My my my motor lock of the night is gonna be give me Drake London. I haven't even thought about it. Drake London London receptions or yards, whatever one you guys wanna take. C-Dub: Drake London six and a half plus one fifteen. Roc: Okay. So I am I'm all over Drake London. So that's but that's my C-Dub: Love it. Roc: final final bit before this game starts. And we'll see you guys on the other side. C-Dub: Sounds about right. Roc: Score now. Saints game. Alright. C-Dub: I would roll on. Roc: I thought the Katrina game would veer a little differently. We're currently recording this, and there's eight minutes left in the game, and the Falcons are up by 21. So, unless the Saints somehow have a miraculous comeback. That's gonna do it for this week for football. Just Falcons put BTA to the Saints. And in the bright side of it, Dub's pick for Vele getting his receptions all over it. My pick for Drake London yards C-Dub: Morning! Roc: and receptions all over it. So if we're gonna hang our head on anything, it's it's our mortal locks. That C-Dub: Rochers in the leggers, so hey. Roc: I just I just hit a nice little eight legger for the game. So, you know. I did. C-Dub: Hey, just something easy. Something before you go to bed. Good stuff. Roc: Gotta look at the bright side of things and the Yanks are about to lose too, so C-Dub: That's where I had my money on. So you hit your eight legger, I had my money at the Yanks and that's just sad. Roc: With that being said, before we wrap up tonight's episode, I want to give a shout out. one of our listeners actually reached out to me, Carson Leonbro, and said, in the episode when we were talking about the season of the Unks with all the quarterbacks, with Jameis, Mariota, Case Keenum, all of them, he said, I want you to shout out Nick Fulk, the kicker for the Falcons tonight. He's still kicking it, and he's turning forty-two years old in one month. So shout out Nick Folk. C-Dub: That deserves a long shout out. Roc: He's unc of the year, maybe. So would wait yeah. We'll see by the time December C-Dub: We'll h he'll be in the running at the end. When do we do the when do we do the swappies? Roc: by the time by the time December comes around, before January first we'll we'll we'll have our unc of the year down. C-Dub: Yeah, when the swappies come around, he'll be definitely be up for Rock of the Year. Guys, we're gonna have to figure out some shit when football's over. Roc: But thank you again. Yeah. Please, any recommendations. C-Dub: Audience. Roc: I I was actually thinking about dub. I was gonna tell you maybe it it's not a bad idea to just let it rip on pod right now. I start work this this upcoming week, my big boy job, so I'm gonna be down in the C-Dub: There we go, we both at it. Roc: city. I was thinking maybe on the TikTok I start doing every Sunday a rock tries or a rock eats. And C-Dub: Love that. Love that. Roc: You know, just some some daily, maybe maybe nice little daily vlog of like eats around the city. We'll have people l let me know what what are good spots I should hit. Maybe some pizza, some bagels, whatever, anything. I just think some outside stuff besides sports, you know? C-Dub: Yeah, yeah, yeah. for sure. Roc: If if you made it this far and you're listening, let us know. Reach out to us, let us know if that's a good idea, bad idea. So thank C-Dub: Yeah, please help. Help. Help. Yeah. Roc: you again, everyone, for listening. We'll see you guys all on Thursday morning. And we'll have that C-Dub: See you guys. Roc: that that preview ready for you boys and girls. Peace. C-Dub: We'll be we'll be up and going. Peace.
