Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's media podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Steve Yanni Brody, cal Randall, Tresa
- 0:20Speaker 2: Max and Seth. This is a ten round quiz show
- 0:23Speaker 2: with questions from Meat Eater's four verticals which are hunting, fishing,
- 0:26Speaker 2: conservation and cooking. And there is a prize. Mead Eater
- 0:29Speaker 2: will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of
- 0:33Speaker 2: the winners choosing and because this episode is brought to
- 0:36Speaker 2: you by Athletic Brewing, they're matching our five hundred dollars
- 0:39Speaker 2: donation as well as sponsoring a moneyball question of the week.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Thanks to Athletic Brewing, today's episode has potential for a
- 0:47Speaker 2: fifteen hundred dollars conservation donation for the start of the week.
- 0:51Speaker 2: This week, we're looking at player performance in the fishing category.
- 0:54Speaker 2: In the history of all Meat Eater fishing questions, the
- 0:57Speaker 2: player average is forty four percent, which is three percent
- 1:02Speaker 2: lower than the hunting category. At the top of the leaderboard,
- 1:05Speaker 2: you guys have any guesses who is our best performer
- 1:08Speaker 2: in fishing? Brody Brody is at the top of the leaderboard.
- 1:13Speaker 2: He gets seventy two seventy percent.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Of all doesn't he just win all the time?
- 1:21Speaker 2: He does win a lot. Maybe he's just the most
- 1:25Speaker 2: consenting to talk. At the top of the leaderboard is Brody.
- 1:29Speaker 2: You get seventy two percent of all fishing questions correct right.
- 1:32Speaker 2: That's followed by Randall with sixty seven percent, Steve with
- 1:36Speaker 2: sixty one percent, Good Cow with fifty eight percent, and
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yanni with fifty seven percent. They are our only players
- 1:42Speaker 2: who average above fifty percent in the fishing category. Steve
- 1:47Speaker 2: sixty one percent of fishing questions still pretty.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Still yeah, still.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Good enough for third. There's nothing wrong with the bronze medal.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And why am I always down here beating Brody?
- 2:00Speaker 4: I mean, doesn't that directly correlate to your like the
- 2:02Speaker 4: overall standings.
- 2:06Speaker 5: I think we'll have to find out what categories. There's
- 2:10Speaker 5: still two more categories.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Now here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you have
- 2:14Speaker 2: a trivia related question for a crew, send it to
- 2:17Speaker 2: Trivia at the medieater dot com with the subject line
- 2:19Speaker 2: I FAQ. Ben Utley wants to know who is your
- 2:22Speaker 2: favorite guest of all time? On Trivia. The one that
- 2:25Speaker 2: gets talked to me the most about from like when
- 2:27Speaker 2: we're at a live show or emails and stuff are
- 2:29Speaker 2: the wives and the girlfriends and the boyfriend of Meat
- 2:33Speaker 2: Eater Trivia. So we'll bring that back. We'll do that
- 2:35Speaker 2: again sometime this summer. So that was one of my favorites.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Playing with the Mets was great because they were super competitive.
- 2:42Speaker 2: They were like pissed off with the results. After the show,
- 2:44Speaker 2: they talked about it as they exited the hotel to
- 2:47Speaker 2: go to a game that actually mattered against the Braves
- 2:49Speaker 2: that night, so that was fun. My favorite one, though,
- 2:51Speaker 2: was Dustin Huff, who was our first guest winner ever.
- 2:55Speaker 2: He came in having no confidence in winning and then
- 2:58Speaker 2: whooped our crew. So I'd say those are my favorite.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Was he the first guest winner.
- 3:02Speaker 2: He was the first guest winner. We've only had a
- 3:04Speaker 2: handful of them. Dustin was the first.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Didn't talker Carlson win before.
- 3:09Speaker 2: He didn't win. He was our first ever episode of trivia.
- 3:13Speaker 2: He was competitive but didn't get the victory.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Do we have some housekeeping get done?
- 3:20Speaker 1: He had a lot of Dennis reach out to him
- 3:22Speaker 1: really like other Dennis would call him to check in
- 3:26Speaker 1: with him. He got hunting invites off that Winow Dennis,
- 3:32Speaker 1: we have.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Some housekeeping to get to. In a previous game of trivia,
- 3:35Speaker 2: we had a question about the movie The Great Outdoors.
- 3:38Speaker 2: In the follow up factoid, I talked about Bart the
- 3:41Speaker 2: Bear and all of the A list actors he starred
- 3:44Speaker 2: opposite of. But I was accidentally combining the careers of
- 3:47Speaker 2: Barti Bear and Barti Bear too. Bart the Bear started
- 3:51Speaker 2: in Moving Spencer, Bart the Bears starting TV and movies
- 3:57Speaker 2: from nineteen seventy eight to nineteen ninety eight, while Barthy
- 4:01Speaker 2: Bear Two's career ran from two thousand and one to
- 4:04Speaker 2: twenty fifteen. But I believe there should only be one Bart.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So today we're going to determine who has the better
- 4:10Speaker 2: Hollywood resume. So listen up here, you guys are going
- 4:13Speaker 2: to decide if it's Bart one or Bart two. For cinema,
- 4:15Speaker 2: barth the Bear was in movies such as The Great Outdoors,
- 4:18Speaker 2: Homeward Bound, Homeward Bound two, and Legends of the Fall.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Barthy Bear Two was in movies such as Doctor Doolittle, Too,
- 4:26Speaker 2: Without a Paddle, Evan Almighty, and We Bought a Zoo.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Are you kiddingdoors as Barth the Bear one wins in
- 4:37Speaker 2: the topic of movies.
- 4:39Speaker 5: With all due respect to We Bought a Zoo.
- 4:42Speaker 6: It's not.
- 4:44Speaker 7: Barth the Bear started in with Anthony Hopkins and The Edge.
- 4:50Speaker 8: Yeah, the Edge.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I think both Barthy Bears had actually been in movies
- 4:54Speaker 2: with Anthony their contemporaries.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Oh sure, Oh oh, I see the you're gonna say
- 5:00Speaker 5: they were both in that movie.
- 5:01Speaker 2: No, no, no, each Bart the Bear has been in a
- 5:03Speaker 2: movie with Anthony.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Did their lives overlap?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Maybe slightly? Well, now, okay, here's television.
- 5:08Speaker 1: That would be for television. I think my wife ran
- 5:11Speaker 1: pr for We Bought a Zoo the book. Oh, I
- 5:17Speaker 1: actually bet that the dude that wrote it didn't meet.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Bart the Bear though. Now for television. For television, Barthy
- 5:28Speaker 2: Bear was in TV shows such as the Life and
- 5:30Speaker 2: Times of Grizzly Adams and The Young Riders. Barthy Bear too,
- 5:34Speaker 2: was in TV shows such as C s I, Scrubs,
- 5:37Speaker 2: and Game of Thrones. So who gets the victory?
- 5:40Speaker 9: It's just like a era anyway, because it's all C
- 5:43Speaker 9: g I ship now, like they don't use real animals anymore.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Well, it's not what we're talking about. You would pick
- 5:54Speaker 2: the Life and Times of Grizzly Adams and The Young
- 5:56Speaker 2: Riders over c s I, Scrubs and Game of Thrones.
- 6:00Speaker 1: To watch any of those shows.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Okay, well, I don't know.
- 6:02Speaker 1: We used to watch Grizzy Adams with your kids.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Phil. What would you say, which barta Bear?
- 6:06Speaker 3: Phil?
- 6:07Speaker 5: I bet you're a Scrubs guy.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Pick news stuff, you know.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Honestly, Game of Thrones is the only thing I and
- 6:13Speaker 3: it was just one episode. I can tell you which
- 6:15Speaker 3: one it was.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Really Yeah, why do you know that?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Because because there's only one episode where they fight a bear.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Okay, Bart the Bear two has way more impressive TV
- 6:26Speaker 2: resume there.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Going up against Grizzy Adams.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm actually going Bart the Bear one there, Spencer, Wow.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Okay, well, Bart the Bear one may make a clean
- 6:33Speaker 2: sweep because for commercials, Barth the Bear was the spokes
- 6:36Speaker 2: bear for le Bat Blue and Tom's, while BARTHI Bear
- 6:39Speaker 2: two was the spokes bear for Kodiak Pancakes.
- 6:44Speaker 5: To Hell, I'm a Bear one democratic one.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Well, Bear two is dead, so maybe maybe he's in
- 6:52Speaker 2: Hell working on Bart three. I found a Twitter account
- 6:55Speaker 2: for Bart the Bear three, but I haven't seen his
- 6:57Speaker 2: Hollywood resume quite you know, maybe Brody, So maybe Art
- 7:00Speaker 2: the Bear three, Bart the Bear one is the winner,
- 7:03Speaker 2: Bart the Bear two. You're relevant, We don't, we don't.
- 7:07Speaker 2: We don't give your memory. That's right now. Shelby index
- 7:10Speaker 2: for today's round is a four, so our winner should
- 7:12Speaker 2: get eight correct answers. And with that we're onto the
- 7:15Speaker 2: game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil.
- 7:19Speaker 10: Lookin everything?
- 7:24Speaker 11: How's that?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Just tend to win everything?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Demon Suckers? Question one. The topic is hunting. Which of
- 7:38Speaker 2: these shotgun choke tubes produces the tightest pattern? Is it modified, improved, cylinder,
- 7:45Speaker 2: full or cylinder? Which of these shotgun choke tubes produces
- 7:52Speaker 2: the tightest pattern? Modified, improved, cylinder, full or cylinder? Max
- 7:59Speaker 2: was writing down.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Steve's gonna write down the one that he has in
- 8:05Speaker 4: his gun right now.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Okay, she's type on our last episode of trivia.
- 8:12Speaker 1: The pattern in my shotgun?
- 8:14Speaker 3: I told you.
- 8:16Speaker 1: What is it?
- 8:17Speaker 3: Tighter?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Loose? I sent my shotgun into the I sent my
- 8:21Speaker 1: shotgun into the famous shotgun mechanic Rob Roberts.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Ah, Rob Roberts, Yeah, he's the only famous shotgun.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Go ahead, listen, tell me.
- 8:36Speaker 3: This.
- 8:36Speaker 1: It must be tight, not just that perfect yeah, there's
- 8:42Speaker 1: no flyers, no flyers. It's like perfectly distributed. Like if
- 8:46Speaker 1: you told a computer to perfectly distribute a bunch of
- 8:51Speaker 1: holes on a sheet of paper, perfectly spaced in a
- 8:55Speaker 1: perfect circle. That's what that computer would make at how
- 8:58Speaker 1: far doesn't matter.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I saw.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I only saw thirty, but I could tell you that
- 9:06Speaker 4: it was tight enup at thirty, that it would make
- 9:08Speaker 4: me worried shooting it at fifteen and twenty because.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's it's like a golf ball.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Probably is everybody ready, Steve is showing.
- 9:18Speaker 8: That's why you gotta go with the over and under right.
- 9:20Speaker 2: A salad plate size shape with his hands. It is
- 9:22Speaker 2: everybody ready to go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 9:26Speaker 2: have Seth saying full, full, Tress is saying modified, everyone
- 9:31Speaker 2: else saying full. The correct answer was full.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He got all written down there, Max I.
- 9:37Speaker 8: He got excited because he improved chilling here full.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I was just righting down office.
- 9:41Speaker 5: I thought that was like a secret symbol for full
- 9:44Speaker 5: in order.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm buying.
- 9:48Speaker 10: I was right down and then I circled my answer
- 9:51Speaker 10: in order of Loos's pattern to tightes yea for full
- 9:56Speaker 10: no we'll give it to you.
- 10:01Speaker 2: No others up there. Next time, just go ahead and
- 10:04Speaker 2: write out full. Okay, yeah, I don't think there's any other. Well,
- 10:07Speaker 2: there could be an F for modifying.
- 10:09Speaker 10: Cow.
- 10:10Speaker 1: That means every answer you got a one in twenty
- 10:13Speaker 1: four just put a letter down.
- 10:15Speaker 2: No, it could have been F for modified in order
- 10:18Speaker 2: to lose this pattern, to tight this pattern, it goes cylinder, improved, cylinder, modified,
- 10:22Speaker 2: and full. Some turkey hunters go beyond. That's not going
- 10:26Speaker 2: to be right by using turkey chokes or extra full chokes,
- 10:29Speaker 2: which are meant to produce type patterns. Yards. Oh g hey, cow,
- 10:39Speaker 2: settle something here. No one else chime in. We don't
- 10:41Speaker 2: want to poison the well. We had a question about this.
- 10:46Speaker 2: We had a question about what type what type of
- 10:52Speaker 2: public land is Devil's Tower in the Statue of Liberty.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Somebody in the room wrote down a federal monument. Would
- 10:58Speaker 2: you say that is correct? The tract answer was national mind.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you'd give it to him.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Good thing you want. While uh, I mean, Steve would
- 11:08Speaker 2: have gotten second place if.
- 11:11Speaker 3: He threw so much of a fit.
- 11:12Speaker 4: We gave him the point anyway, we still lost, so
- 11:15Speaker 4: we didn't give him that's well, because.
- 11:17Speaker 1: By then my whole game unraveled because I was so mad.
- 11:21Speaker 8: Because I imagine, I imagine you probably would have given
- 11:23Speaker 8: it to somebody if you would have said monument only.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Yes or apparently.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Question two the topic is cooking.
- 11:35Speaker 8: Did anybody write in on the Chernobyl deal? I feel
- 11:38Speaker 8: like that had to have gotten some people fired up.
- 11:41Speaker 12: Now got me fired up?
- 11:42Speaker 2: No, just you guys, Well people wrote in. Uh, they
- 11:45Speaker 2: called you guys names. Actually whiny b words is what
- 11:49Speaker 2: a few folks said. So I could pull up exactly
- 11:55Speaker 2: they said, I host with a room full of winey brainiacts.
- 11:59Speaker 7: I feel I've I feel like we moved on real
- 12:01Speaker 7: quick for everybody being in consensu.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Moved on question to cooking. The Food Network divides this
- 12:12Speaker 2: type of sausage into two major categories, Spanish and Mexican.
- 12:19Speaker 2: The Food Network divides this type of sausage into two
- 12:22Speaker 2: major categories, Spanish and Mexican. Everyone except for Seth and
- 12:28Speaker 2: Tresa are looking confident. Seth, do you have a prayer
- 12:32Speaker 2: on this one?
- 12:36Speaker 11: No?
- 12:37Speaker 2: The Food Network divides this type of sausage into two
- 12:40Speaker 2: major categories, Spanish and Mexican.
- 12:44Speaker 4: I usually get like I divide sausage into like breakfast.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And Italian ground and links breakfast and dinner.
- 12:53Speaker 8: Yeah, there's Italian.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Italian sweet, Italian.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Italiana. No one ever un sausage.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yanni, how we doing? You have an answer?
- 13:08Speaker 5: I got something red now you and I.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Want to learn how to make mans You ever had
- 13:12Speaker 1: a Chinese sweet sausage, real red kind of stuff?
- 13:16Speaker 5: Never have tried that?
- 13:17Speaker 1: You know, I'm talking about the eating why all time?
- 13:19Speaker 7: Oh yeah, it's in the Hawaii grocery store. Anything in
- 13:22Speaker 7: the gas stations, It's in the It's in the non
- 13:25Speaker 7: refrigerated section too, which I enjoy it.
- 13:30Speaker 8: Everybody read shelf stable Sausage.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set saying cheriso,
- 13:38Speaker 2: cal saying chisa, trest is saying links. Everyone else sang charriso.
- 13:42Speaker 2: They got it. The correct answer was.
- 13:44Speaker 13: Chariso, Spanish links and Mexican Spanish chiso is usually made
- 13:49Speaker 13: with pork or beef, has other ingredients like smoked paprika
- 13:52Speaker 13: and white wine, and is stuffed in links that are
- 13:55Speaker 13: then fermented and slowly smoked.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Mexican chsa was usually made with pork, has other ingredients
- 14:01Speaker 2: like chili, peppers and vinegar and is stuffed in casings
- 14:03Speaker 2: that are then air dried for a week. What do
- 14:07Speaker 2: you guys in the room, do you know if you're
- 14:09Speaker 2: usually making Spanish or Mexican Triso.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Mexican, definitely Mexican. I just make mine bulk because I
- 14:17Speaker 4: think the Spanish.
- 14:18Speaker 12: Stuff is like a cure. It's like a track like sawami.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Question three the topic is conservation. This next great
- 14:25Speaker 2: question comes to is via Austin Jackson. A mule deer
- 14:28Speaker 2: tag for this state set a record by getting auctioned
- 14:32Speaker 2: off for seven hundred and twenty five thousand dollars at
- 14:36Speaker 2: the twenty twenty three Western Hunt Expo. Brody and Yanni
- 14:41Speaker 2: appear to know it. A mule deer tag for this
- 14:45Speaker 2: state set a record by getting auctioned off for seven
- 14:49Speaker 2: hundred and twenty five thousand dollars at the twenty twenty
- 14:53Speaker 2: three Western Hunt Expo.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Do you want me to spell off the state?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go with the abbreviation. We're not gonna do abbreviation.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Cal has burned us with abbreviations before he did the
- 15:05Speaker 2: abbreviation for Missouri and he said he met Mississippi or
- 15:11Speaker 2: I don't remember what it was no, we know how
- 15:13Speaker 2: that one happened. We're gonna write out the whole state.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, like am I in Michigan, Mississippi?
- 15:19Speaker 2: Missouri mule deer tag for this state set a record
- 15:24Speaker 2: by getting auction off for seven hundred and twenty five
- 15:26Speaker 2: thousand dollars at the twenty twenty three Western Haunt Expo.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Is everybody ready?
- 15:31Speaker 5: When I was working in Alaska, this guy asked us
- 15:34Speaker 5: why we registered all our boats in Arkansas because he
- 15:37Speaker 5: saw the AK number.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set the
- 15:45Speaker 2: saying Arizona. Cal saying Arizona saying Idaho, Randall saying Arizona,
- 15:52Speaker 2: Brody saying Utah, Steve saying Utah, Yanni saying Utah, Max
- 15:57Speaker 2: saying Arizona. The correct dance, sir, is Arizona. About half
- 16:03Speaker 2: of you.
- 16:07Speaker 8: Yeah, but that Antelope Island tag.
- 16:09Speaker 1: I thought it was.
- 16:11Speaker 2: The twenty twenty three expo set the mule deer tag
- 16:14Speaker 2: auction record twice. The first time was when Jimmy John
- 16:18Speaker 2: bought Utah's Antelope Island mule deer tag for half a
- 16:21Speaker 2: million dollars. The following night, the record was shattered when
- 16:25Speaker 2: an unknown buyer spent seven hundred and twenty five thousand
- 16:28Speaker 2: dollars on a statewide year long tag for Arizona. Then,
- 16:32Speaker 2: just a year later, the Arizona Game and Fish Commission
- 16:35Speaker 2: voted four to one to abolish the state's practice of
- 16:38Speaker 2: auction auctioning off big game tags. Many now assume that
- 16:42Speaker 2: coveted tag will be part of a raffle going forward.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I love about Jimmy John's like Elvis. Well, you don't
- 16:49Speaker 1: need to use the last.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Now, huh, yeah, I can't. I'm not Italian enough to
- 16:53Speaker 2: pronounce it. I think it's like something with a lot
- 16:56Speaker 2: of vowels.
- 16:56Speaker 12: I bet you he bought the unnamed tag too.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Well, No, it was a guy from the Into like
- 17:01Speaker 2: that community. To that community was kind of an unknown
- 17:04Speaker 2: figure who spent the seven or and then I think
- 17:06Speaker 2: so that that was in twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four,
- 17:09Speaker 2: both tags sold for like one hundred thousand dollars less,
- 17:12Speaker 2: So they haven't beat the rest.
- 17:14Speaker 1: You know, we were talking about people before, did were we
- 17:17Speaker 1: talking about people in Mississippi thinking about how their turkeys
- 17:20Speaker 1: are tougher in everybody's turkeys?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Yep, Joanni said, specifically the Southeast. So that they have
- 17:25Speaker 2: the toughest turkeys.
- 17:26Speaker 1: The thing I liked about hunting down there, though, is
- 17:28Speaker 1: that they get two syllables out of the word hen. Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Fuck love that man. That's my favoriteing about that state
- 17:35Speaker 1: because we just kind of burned through it hen right,
- 17:37Speaker 1: uh huh, we just like get it done. Hen they
- 17:39Speaker 1: savor it. Yeah.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Question for the topic is woodsmanship. This is our listener
- 17:46Speaker 2: question of the week, which was won by Kelly Williams
- 17:49Speaker 2: for sending this great question. Kelly is going to get
- 17:51Speaker 2: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 17:54Speaker 2: a chance to win our listener Question of the Week
- 17:56Speaker 2: and send your question to Trivia at the Medeater dot com.
- 17:59Speaker 2: This this eight letter ecological word is defined as quote
- 18:03Speaker 2: the transition zone between fully terrestrial and fully aquatic. The
- 18:10Speaker 2: topic is woodsmanship. This eight letter ecological word is defined
- 18:15Speaker 2: as the transition zone between fully terrestrial and fully aquatic.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Brody looking like he might have it, Yanni, Uh, first
- 18:27Speaker 2: one to have his board down? Yanni? Did you get
- 18:29Speaker 2: this one right?
- 18:30Speaker 3: I believe so.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Do you think Steve or.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Max saw your board? They wouldn't look Okay?
- 18:35Speaker 11: Max, make sure I had eight letters in there.
- 18:38Speaker 2: The transition zone between fully terrestrial and fully aquatic an
- 18:44Speaker 2: eight letter word.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Sorry, Phil, I tapped my wire here.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I thank you for admitting to it. We'll talk after
- 18:53Speaker 3: the show.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Eight letter word, Brody, do you have eight letters?
- 18:59Speaker 4: I got eight letters?
- 19:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:01Speaker 12: I didn't have to add any extras or take any away.
- 19:06Speaker 2: You didn't have to make it plural.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Okay, I currently have zero letters.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Hasn't he's picked up as his athletic beer, hasn't picked
- 19:15Speaker 2: up his whiteboard.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I drink these two most often.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Random. Where's your confidence at here?
- 19:23Speaker 5: I feel pretty good. I have eight letters. I feel
- 19:28Speaker 5: like there's several words that What is it again?
- 19:31Speaker 1: Fully?
- 19:32Speaker 2: What the transition zone between fully terrestrial and fully aquatic?
- 19:37Speaker 2: It's an eight letter ecological word.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So you're talking about the zone.
- 19:43Speaker 2: It's the definition, is the transition zone between fully terrestrial
- 19:48Speaker 2: and fully aquatic? I think if we want to throw
- 19:50Speaker 2: Randal off his game, we just need to put him
- 19:52Speaker 2: in a different chair. Him and Brody get their chairs.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Steve was saying game. Steve was saying, last game. He's
- 19:59Speaker 2: thrown off. He's in a new position here.
- 20:02Speaker 5: And wherever you want, I'm further from the cameras.
- 20:05Speaker 2: So yeah, like race horses, they have certain positions they prefer.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Sometimes they play pretty good in Yanni's seat, but that's
- 20:12Speaker 5: also the seat where I lost my perfect game on
- 20:15Speaker 5: the final question.
- 20:16Speaker 2: So a lot of history.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I got all right answered down. I'll tell you that, buddy.
- 20:21Speaker 8: Is everybody ready, man, I'm I'm blank?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Who may have blankboards from Seth and cal.
- 20:27Speaker 4: This one's gonna kill you guys, because you guys know it.
- 20:32Speaker 6: Belong.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have nothing from Seth.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Nothing from Seth. Caller Tressa Randall. Randall says Riparian. Brody
- 20:45Speaker 2: says Riparian. Steve says literal is it eight letters? Okay,
- 20:52Speaker 2: well it has to be. That has to be the
- 20:54Speaker 2: definition of it already, mind you, Yanni says Riperian. Max said,
- 20:58Speaker 2: what's that say? Max?
- 20:59Speaker 5: Littoral refers to coastlines, shore lines.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Tell me the how do you expel that?
- 21:06Speaker 12: I've heard that for many there's.
- 21:08Speaker 1: An ecological term called the littoral zone.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Uh, it is the the definition is relating to or
- 21:15Speaker 2: situated on the shore of a sea or a lake,
- 21:19Speaker 2: a region lie along a shore. Well, it's not the
- 21:23Speaker 2: exact definition that I was looking for.
- 21:26Speaker 1: It's right, though.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I don't think that's right.
- 21:32Speaker 6: Did we you?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Did you? The correct answer is riparian.
- 21:38Speaker 1: That's ri is used when it comes to streams and rivers.
- 21:42Speaker 2: This was the definition, was the transition zone between fully terrestrial,
- 21:46Speaker 2: it's fully aquatic. You're gonna tell the.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Moving water.
- 21:53Speaker 8: If you would have just put l down wrong too.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Conservation is sometimes referred to riparian zones as the ribbon
- 22:00Speaker 2: of life because of the disproportionate importance they have for wildlife.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Healthy riparian zones help filter water, control the erosion, manage floods,
- 22:09Speaker 2: and provide habitat. According to Watersheds Canada, if you manage
- 22:13Speaker 2: land that has a riparian zone, the best thing you
- 22:15Speaker 2: can do for it is allow native plants to grow there.
- 22:19Speaker 5: What do we think of Steve's answer, I was gonna
- 22:21Speaker 5: that was one of my choices.
- 22:23Speaker 2: You have a better argument here than a federal monument,
- 22:26Speaker 2: I would say, I would give it to them.
- 22:30Speaker 12: Oh, Spencer, you need to lay down the law.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Well, I think I did lay down the law last time.
- 22:36Speaker 2: I think this. I think that's I think that's correct.
- 22:39Speaker 5: Is is it an ecological term?
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yes?
- 22:43Speaker 2: Here this says I don't.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Know that, so that that's one thing of.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Or relating to the region of freshwater lake beds from
- 22:51Speaker 2: the subletortal zone up to and including damp areas on shore.
- 22:56Speaker 2: There you go, not quite, it's it seems like a
- 23:00Speaker 2: transitions Riparian. We'll give it to you. It was eight
- 23:07Speaker 2: letters time. You didn't give me something, it was it
- 23:10Speaker 2: was eight letters horizon. Give me right there.
- 23:13Speaker 7: When we use aquatic and terrestrial though, like, how how
- 23:20Speaker 7: are those being used?
- 23:21Speaker 8: Like is it describing next question land and water?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Well, it's it's describing like upland, and it's describing, you know,
- 23:32Speaker 2: like water that's more than a few inches deep. Other
- 23:35Speaker 2: definitions will specifically call out like upland it's it's it's
- 23:38Speaker 2: below the upland, so an area that's not going to flood.
- 23:42Speaker 7: See, this was awesome, and you guys just were quiet,
- 23:45Speaker 7: and I got to learn that's a big part of.
- 23:48Speaker 5: The reason I'm thinking Platoral isn't fully I'm letting go
- 23:57Speaker 5: almost platoral combat chips.
- 24:01Speaker 9: Question five, say, before we move on, if you'd had
- 24:04Speaker 9: some kind of river reference in there, that's not what
- 24:07Speaker 9: Steve would have written down.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Nope, thank you, right, I was trying to like hell
- 24:11Speaker 1: to fit Amphibious.
- 24:14Speaker 8: Different spelling, wrote Amphibian.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I was like, let me try with the f.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Question wheel gets the grease. The topic is gear. Although
- 24:26Speaker 2: this brand is best known for its red handed filet knives,
- 24:30Speaker 2: it dropped the word blade from its name in twenty nineteen.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Max is Authority.
- 24:38Speaker 12: I got a story about this company.
- 24:40Speaker 5: I can make more noise.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Although this brand is best known for its red handed
- 24:47Speaker 2: filet knives, it dropped the word blade from its name
- 24:50Speaker 2: in twenty nineteen. Fairly Confident room except for Yanni and Tresa.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Softballs. NA makes you think old Shelby's not.
- 25:05Speaker 12: Shelby's lower edge.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Four the Shelby index.
- 25:08Speaker 1: He's getting bored like Maverick.
- 25:10Speaker 5: After you did the first one, Oh yeah, I saw that. Yeah,
- 25:15Speaker 5: but after Goose died. Oh it's right rejected into the cannoby.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Is red handed? Supposed to be red handed, devastated?
- 25:24Speaker 2: Red handled? I think red handled flight knives.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Okay, there's a typo on.
- 25:30Speaker 2: The television known for it's red handled. Is that going
- 25:34Speaker 2: to help you, Yanni?
- 25:36Speaker 4: Well, no, I just maybe it was something complete.
- 25:42Speaker 2: You're gonna come up with an answer. Yeah, wrapped the
- 25:45Speaker 2: word blade from its name twenty nineteen.
- 25:50Speaker 12: Real softball this one.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well, Yanni's not going to get it right. Well, Yanni's
- 25:56Speaker 2: not a true angle.
- 25:58Speaker 1: No, he's not a waterman, definitely not.
- 26:03Speaker 2: He's not. He's up out of the Riparian zone. He's
- 26:07Speaker 2: an uplin.
- 26:07Speaker 5: He's a terrestrial man.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's everybody ready, Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 26:15Speaker 2: If Seth Saang Bubba, Cal saying Bubba, trest Is saying
- 26:19Speaker 2: m Casey Randall and Brody and Steve saying Bubba, Yanni
- 26:24Speaker 2: saying what's that say Yanni? Victoria Knox Max saying Bubba.
- 26:28Speaker 2: The correct answer is Bubba. Most of you got that right.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Bubba Blade was founded in two thousand and nine, but
- 26:35Speaker 2: underwent a rebranded decade later when they became just Bubba.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Their CEO said the new name can't sit a wider
- 26:41Speaker 2: net and better supported their water to plate lifestyle. They
- 26:45Speaker 2: now sell everything from lithium batteries to fishnets. Brody, are
- 26:49Speaker 2: you going to share your story?
- 26:50Speaker 9: Last summer at Steve's fish shack, his kid was out
- 26:53Speaker 9: paddling around the canoe fish and silver salmon, and Bubba
- 26:58Speaker 9: makes a pair of eyl like salt players and.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Uh, Steve's can't drop those things.
- 27:05Speaker 9: Right in the ocean, and Steve was out where you're
- 27:08Speaker 9: shrimping or something, and Jimmy came.
- 27:11Speaker 6: Back and he's like, man, I screwed up. I don't
- 27:14Speaker 6: know what to do.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Like he was telling this to you.
- 27:18Speaker 9: I think he might have been angling for me to
- 27:20Speaker 9: help him come up with something.
- 27:22Speaker 4: Yeah, He's like, look, man, you gotta take it. He
- 27:27Speaker 4: came over to my place like, hey, so, what would
- 27:31Speaker 4: you do if you lost your dad's.
- 27:35Speaker 12: I mean he was sweat.
- 27:36Speaker 9: Yeah, he was gathering a committee, and I decided to
- 27:39Speaker 9: take pity on him without telling him.
- 27:41Speaker 12: I sent Steve a text while Steve was and I
- 27:43Speaker 12: was like.
- 27:43Speaker 6: Listen, Jimmy's really worried.
- 27:46Speaker 12: Deep six your.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Pliers and what was the messaging you got?
- 27:54Speaker 3: Steve?
- 27:54Speaker 1: I had tied to cool off out on the boat.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Oh, come on, you wouldn't have ripped him won for.
- 28:01Speaker 2: That would like a thirty five dollars play.
- 28:03Speaker 1: It would't depend on it would where it fit in
- 28:06Speaker 1: the context of him losing all my other stuff. It
- 28:09Speaker 1: was like if it was just part of the third
- 28:12Speaker 1: thing that day.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You know, Bill, we are halfway through the game of trivia.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Dressed as zero points. Giannis Puttelis has three, Steve Seth,
- 28:25Speaker 3: Max Cow and Brody I'll have four points apiece and
- 28:28Speaker 3: with a perfect game in first place, it's Randall Williams.
- 28:31Speaker 6: This is getting the oldest lands.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Question six. The topic is hunting.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Gotta get at my averages.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Pheasants Forever declared this state capital quote the best bird
- 28:53Speaker 2: hunting town in America. You need to tell me the
- 28:57Speaker 2: state capitol, not the state. Pheasants Forever declared this state
- 29:02Speaker 2: capital the best bird hunting town in America. Max is
- 29:10Speaker 2: the only one who have come up with an answer yet.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Pheasants Forever declared this state capital the best bird hunting
- 29:19Speaker 2: town in America. This is question six. A group of
- 29:24Speaker 2: folks complaining about too many softballs now appears to be stumped. Brody,
- 29:31Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 29:32Speaker 12: We'll find out.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Doesn't want to give any hints to Steve, whose board
- 29:38Speaker 2: is still blank.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Wish I knew my capital is a little better right now?
- 29:43Speaker 1: Yeah, to the best.
- 29:50Speaker 2: That bird hunting town in America. I think we've had
- 29:55Speaker 2: one other state capitol question on this show, and it
- 29:58Speaker 2: was via Yanni asking which one had the highest elevation
- 30:02Speaker 2: to which everybody got wrong.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I got this right, but I got two answers down
- 30:06Speaker 1: right now.
- 30:06Speaker 12: Okay, they're both right.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Bird hunting town, not the state. And Pheasants forever declared
- 30:17Speaker 2: this state capital the best bird hunting town in America?
- 30:27Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? It just Peasants forever, Pheasants forever, and
- 30:34Speaker 2: it's just birds Pheasants forever. They made this declaration, and
- 30:38Speaker 2: their quote was the best bird hunting town.
- 30:42Speaker 5: And when did they do this?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yes, this reason twenty thirteen.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I believe it was so it might no longer hold that.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Distinction than a decade? Is everybody ready? I don't like it? Bruddy, Yeah,
- 31:00Speaker 2: feel your answers. We have Seth saying sous falls, Cal
- 31:03Speaker 2: saying peer, Tressa saying Helena, Randalls saying peer, Brody's saying peer,
- 31:09Speaker 2: Steve saying business he crossed out peer, Yannis saying sous
- 31:14Speaker 2: falls Max saying peer. The correct answer is peer the
- 31:20Speaker 2: head ready, Well, Steve had her written down. He'd like
- 31:24Speaker 2: you to know. It's very important.
- 31:27Speaker 9: These new boards seem pretty sturdy design.
- 31:33Speaker 3: I think.
- 31:35Speaker 2: When when we make the board game, the factory does
- 31:37Speaker 2: a drop test where they dropped it one thousand times
- 31:40Speaker 2: to make sure, it can withstand that sort of wear
- 31:42Speaker 2: and tear. I will just send him to Steve from
- 31:44Speaker 2: now on. He can, he can beat around on him.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I'll tell you why I wrote down what I wrote, Sure,
- 31:51Speaker 1: because you were wrong. I felt that it was two obvious.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Sure.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Well, it's really a question. Do you know the capital
- 32:00Speaker 5: of South Dakota.
- 32:01Speaker 11: I do?
- 32:01Speaker 5: I know, and you do.
- 32:02Speaker 1: And I was like, well, of course they're going to
- 32:05Speaker 1: say that. So they're trying to throw a bone in North.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Dakotas to go in.
- 32:09Speaker 1: North Dakota is going to get rid of North and
- 32:11Speaker 1: South Dakota. Got pissed. North Dakota is going to become
- 32:14Speaker 1: Dakota and South Dakota cried foul.
- 32:18Speaker 11: It should really be East and West Dakota.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Hm.
- 32:22Speaker 11: I know that, Yeah, because the west side of North
- 32:26Speaker 11: Dakota on the south side of South Dakota are very similar,
- 32:29Speaker 11: and then the east side of North Dakota east side
- 32:31Speaker 11: of South Dakota are very similar.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Pier is collecting split at the Missouri boundaries to do that.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Pheasants forever praise South Dakota state capital for having ample
- 32:41Speaker 2: public land as well as healthy populations of pheasant, grouse,
- 32:45Speaker 2: and partridge. The region is also home to one of
- 32:47Speaker 2: the nation's biggest flocks of Greater Prairie chickens, which have
- 32:51Speaker 2: been extirpated from about ninety five percent of their original range.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Probably not a whole big good chance to be winning
- 32:58Speaker 1: uh questions.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Then we'll find out a question. The topic is biology.
- 33:06Speaker 2: This next great question comes to us via Josh Record.
- 33:10Speaker 2: What's the name for the event that birds used to reproduce,
- 33:14Speaker 2: urinate and defecate? What's the name for the event that
- 33:19Speaker 2: birds used to reproduce, urinate and defecate?
- 33:23Speaker 12: Are we allowed to.
- 33:24Speaker 9: Use a slang term that Steve coined?
- 33:28Speaker 2: I don't think you should seth and tresson Max have
- 33:34Speaker 2: blank boards.
- 33:35Speaker 6: Max.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Event vent not an event.
- 33:42Speaker 2: What's the name of the event that birds used to reproduce,
- 33:46Speaker 2: urinate and defecate. You'll have to tell us what that
- 33:50Speaker 2: nickname is after I.
- 33:51Speaker 12: Don't know what you're I don't think, just so you know,
- 33:54Speaker 12: I got so you know it's.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Not I'm doing the same thing because I feel like
- 33:59Speaker 4: there's two answers here.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Really, Huh, Steve, do you think there are two answers?
- 34:08Speaker 1: No? I don't think it's an answer.
- 34:11Speaker 2: A answer and answer is everybody ready, go ahead and
- 34:17Speaker 2: reveal your answer. Seth without an answer, Cal saying kloaca.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Trust it without an answer, Randall saying kloaca, Brody saying
- 34:24Speaker 2: kloaca and uh in parentheses, you put uni hole, Steve
- 34:29Speaker 2: saying kloaca, Yanni saying kloaca, Max saying kloaca. They got it.
- 34:33Speaker 2: The correct answer is cloaca.
- 34:35Speaker 4: You came up with uni hole.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I don't think so. Might be the first time bro
- 34:42Speaker 1: to plug.
- 34:43Speaker 3: That in there.
- 34:43Speaker 4: I think that uni hole is uh.
- 34:45Speaker 3: It would be a correct answer.
- 34:46Speaker 1: No, it's not answer.
- 34:49Speaker 12: Google it in a second.
- 34:52Speaker 5: You might not like what you find.
- 34:54Speaker 12: The first time I ever heard it was.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Oh, I got a story about type and something I
- 34:58Speaker 1: can't tell.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Back to back episode. Steve has teas stories that he
- 35:03Speaker 2: can't tell. You're not even gonna look it up by
- 35:06Speaker 2: will in a sec. The word has Latin origins that
- 35:09Speaker 2: mean to cleanse or drain. Besides birds, all amphibians, reptiles,
- 35:14Speaker 2: and marsupials have a kloaca, as well as a few fish.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Some turtles have a specialized kloaca that helps them breathe
- 35:21Speaker 2: while underwater. We are now going to google uni hole.
- 35:25Speaker 5: I'm just cured the term vent like.
- 35:30Speaker 2: And I'm seeing that you have no results of uni hole.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I think that's care to hear it.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we do. I think that's pretty good.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Distinguishes event from an orifice.
- 35:41Speaker 8: I think how much is going on.
- 35:43Speaker 1: There's your mouth is your nostril is an orifice. Your
- 35:49Speaker 1: mouth is an orifice. Your vent you might spit out
- 35:56Speaker 1: of it, but e vent is like for for poop
- 35:58Speaker 1: and pea.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Well, that's what I So, do I have a vent
- 36:02Speaker 5: or vent?
- 36:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 36:06Speaker 5: I just never heard of I've just never heard of
- 36:08Speaker 5: a physician tell me that your vent, my vent's working fine, or.
- 36:12Speaker 6: Something like that.
- 36:13Speaker 2: With fish, we would exclusively call it event.
- 36:15Speaker 5: I've never thought about my dogs having vents.
- 36:18Speaker 12: What do you got?
- 36:19Speaker 1: My wife A couple of her friends or debate and
- 36:21Speaker 1: one time whether the movie Die Hard counted as a
- 36:26Speaker 1: Christmas movie because it's sometimes bucketed as a Christmas movie
- 36:30Speaker 1: because that's a Christmas party taking place, and someone said,
- 36:37Speaker 1: there's no way it could be bucketed as a Christmas
- 36:40Speaker 1: movie because of the inclusion of a word they knew
- 36:45Speaker 1: to be said in the movie. Someone retorts, I don't
- 36:52Speaker 1: remember that word being in that movie, and they said,
- 36:56Speaker 1: look it up. So she types in die hard word
- 37:01Speaker 1: than the word, and thereby was shocked and also felt
- 37:07Speaker 1: that the user history she had very carefully cultivated on
- 37:13Speaker 1: the internet over the years had been changed fundamentally. Somewhere somewhere,
- 37:22Speaker 1: someone was like, we got a hot one boy.
- 37:27Speaker 2: They slipped up. What was the determination Christmas movie or not?
- 37:33Speaker 1: Uh, we played it for our kids this Christmas, and
- 37:38Speaker 1: lots of times you remember movies different than there. We're like, oh, yeah,
- 37:41Speaker 1: you guys gonna love this. We'll watch it, you know,
- 37:43Speaker 1: And then like a couple minutes into it, guy gets
- 37:46Speaker 1: back of his head shot out into a glass window
- 37:48Speaker 1: and stuff, and we didn't finish it.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Question eight. The topic is fishing. This is the Athletic
- 37:55Speaker 2: Brewing Moneyball question of the week. For every correct answer provided,
- 37:59Speaker 2: Athletic Brewing is going to make a one hundred dollars
- 38:02Speaker 2: donation that's camped at five hundred dollars. This week, Athletic
- 38:05Speaker 2: Brewing is giving to the conservation group American Rivers. Here
- 38:10Speaker 2: is the moneyball question. The second longest river in Texas
- 38:14Speaker 2: and the river that forms the North Dakota Minnesota border
- 38:18Speaker 2: both share this name. The second longest river in Texas
- 38:26Speaker 2: and the river that forms the North Dakota Minnesota border
- 38:30Speaker 2: both share this name. Max Is confident he is the
- 38:35Speaker 2: only one right now who appears pretty hot.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Dakota heavy.
- 38:40Speaker 12: Yeah, I love it.
- 38:42Speaker 5: This game.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Well, this is also this one's also for Texans. Minnesota's
