- 0:40Speaker 1: Welcome to the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast Show, the longest
- 0:43Speaker 1: running weekly Philly sports podcast show in the world, twelve
- 0:46Speaker 1: years strong. As we are commemorating our twelve year anniversary
- 0:50Speaker 1: here at the PSD podcast show, I'm Jeff Warren. Here
- 0:52Speaker 1: are my buddy Eric Leonard. Hey doing man?
- 0:54Speaker 2: I'm good. We're on video.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's scared. We're on video. What do I do?
- 1:00Speaker 1: What do I do?
- 1:00Speaker 3: No?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Dead air?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Huh When it first comes up, I'm like, oh yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 2: that's right. Oh yeah, yes, everybody can see me this time. Yea,
- 1:08Speaker 2: it's not just a faceless voice exactly, exactly. We're still
- 1:11Speaker 2: on audio.
- 1:11Speaker 1: We still got our audio podcast Apple Podcasts, Spotify, all
- 1:15Speaker 1: major podcasting platforms, and of course over at Philadelphia Sports
- 1:18Speaker 1: Table dot com. That's where you can get all of
- 1:19Speaker 1: our podcasts. We have them uploaded over there, and we
- 1:22Speaker 1: got a really good show this week. But first, before
- 1:25Speaker 1: we even get into the topics, Eric, how is practice tonight?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Was practice? All right for you? I know it was
- 1:31Speaker 1: kind of a late practice for you.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Yeah, we just had a first tournament, didn't do so hot,
- 1:37Speaker 2: so installing a new half court three to two trap
- 1:41Speaker 2: off our defense? All right, Okay, it's in a new
- 1:45Speaker 2: flex offense. So only five kids out of eight came
- 1:49Speaker 2: tonight because I got some sick kids. Yeah, so yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 2: for some ree the less kids you get, the more
- 1:56Speaker 2: they don't pay attention or listen. So that was interesting
- 1:59Speaker 2: to a lot of suicides.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Okay, right, yeah, overall.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Good group though, It's just that's what you said. Yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and I think my wife from it's easter break. I
- 2:12Speaker 2: think spring break, like, they're all going to Panama City soon,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and you know they want to.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm kidding, Yeah, they gotta go down to Miami, Miami.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I went to Panama City ninety eight before I graduated college.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Worst week in my life. Really. I'm a dive bar guy.
- 2:29Speaker 2: As you know, Jeff, you and I have hung out
- 2:32Speaker 2: more than one in our lifetime. And uh, oh my god,
- 2:35Speaker 2: just clubs and dudes with cameras trying to get girls
- 2:41Speaker 2: to show you know what. Yeah, yeah, but this isn't
- 2:43Speaker 2: for me. This is awful. I hate everybody. Everybody decided me.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I went out to the University of Indiana once on
- 2:51Speaker 1: spring break. Boo. Yeah, it was wild time. It was
- 2:56Speaker 1: crazy and wacky.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Did you shuck some corn?
- 3:00Speaker 1: I know, I was hanging out with John Mellencamp. You know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: pretty pink houses for you and me right right, yes, crazy, Well,
- 3:09Speaker 1: got a great show, folks. It's gonna be fun to
- 3:12Speaker 1: get into some Philly sports history. You're gonna like what
- 3:16Speaker 1: we were auditioned out right from the start with this show.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And then we're gonna get into Jailen Hurts. I know
- 3:22Speaker 1: the NFL Draft is coming up, but we've got a
- 3:25Speaker 1: very special podcast in our feed, a PSD special where
- 3:29Speaker 1: we talked to Matt Waldman from the Rookie Scouting Portfolio,
- 3:32Speaker 1: specifically about prospects coming out offensive prospects coming out in
- 3:37Speaker 1: this draft. You're not gonna want to miss that. Check
- 3:40Speaker 1: it out in the feed, But we want to get
- 3:42Speaker 1: into Jailen Hurts. Jalen Hurts was just named one of
- 3:47Speaker 1: Time Magazine's most one hundred Influential People of twenty twenty five.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Pretty amazing, actually, so we're gonna dive into that storyline
- 3:55Speaker 1: and what Jalen Hurts really just means to the Eagles
- 3:59Speaker 1: and to the city, and of course being named one
- 4:01Speaker 1: of the most one hundred influential people of twenty twenty five,
- 4:04Speaker 1: he's certainly making his mark in this world and from there,
- 4:08Speaker 1: we're gonna get into some sixers talk, a lot more
- 4:10Speaker 1: sixers talk. As this season has now ended, we have
- 4:14Speaker 1: more awards. We dove into some awards last week, but
- 4:17Speaker 1: we've got more. We've got more this week end of
- 4:20Speaker 1: season awards, and from there we are also going to
- 4:24Speaker 1: get into this Philadelphia Phillies team. And that's where we're
- 4:26Speaker 1: thrown down on the table this week, everybody, We've got
- 4:29Speaker 1: Destiny Legardo from Philliesnation dot com. She's gonna be joining
- 4:32Speaker 1: us to talk about how this team is looking after
- 4:35Speaker 1: a lot of stumbling quite frankly, and came out of
- 4:38Speaker 1: the gate strong, a lot of stumbles, a lot of challenges.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Right now, from an offensive perspective, what should our level
- 4:44Speaker 1: of concern be for this Phillies team, if any? At
- 4:47Speaker 1: this point it's early in the baseball season. So let's
- 4:50Speaker 1: get started with some Philly sports history here, Eric and
- 4:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna mention a few different moments in the world
- 5:00Speaker 1: of Philly sports history. And I don't know if anything
- 5:03Speaker 1: will stick out to you in terms of in terms
- 5:06Speaker 1: of anything really really notable. We can go back to
- 5:09Speaker 1: April thirteenth, nineteen forty eight, where the Baltimore Bullets. They
- 5:14Speaker 1: overcame a twenty one point halftime deficit to defeat the
- 5:18Speaker 1: Philadelphia Warriors sixty six to sixty six to sixty three
- 5:23Speaker 1: in Game two of the BAA Finals, evening the series
- 5:27Speaker 1: at one to one. And then you have April thirteenth,
- 5:32Speaker 1: nineteen eighty seven, Yes, nineteen eighty seven, where future Philly
- 5:37Speaker 1: and Souderton native Jamie Moyer, then with the Chicago Cubs,
- 5:41Speaker 1: he held the Phillies hit list for eight innings in
- 5:43Speaker 1: a five to two Cubs victory. April fifteenth, two thousand
- 5:47Speaker 1: and four, the Philadelphia Phillies secured their very first victor
- 5:51Speaker 1: at victory at Citizens Bank Park by defeating the Cincinnati
- 5:54Speaker 1: red six to four thanks to a four run eighth inning.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And then, finally, this is only a a little over
- 6:01Speaker 1: a year old, but on April thirteen, twenty twenty four,
- 6:04Speaker 1: the Flyers honored former player Wayne Simmons upon his retirement.
- 6:08Speaker 1: He signed a one day contract to retire as a
- 6:11Speaker 1: Flyer and was celebrated at the Wells Fargo Center. God,
- 6:14Speaker 1: we'd love to have Wayne Simmons back on this Flyers
- 6:17Speaker 1: team in the future for sure. But the Jamie Moyer
- 6:23Speaker 1: piece of history when he was on the Chicago Cubs.
- 6:26Speaker 1: That kind of stood out to me. Eric, I don't know,
- 6:27Speaker 1: did any of these stand out to you at all?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Well, the first one just to score of the game, yes,
- 6:34Speaker 2: is hilarious.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Sixty six to sixty three.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Like I saw au games this past weekend, the higher
- 6:40Speaker 2: scores totally didn't style of basketball. I mean, if you
- 6:44Speaker 2: watched the Grizzlies Warriors last night, I think my final
- 6:46Speaker 2: score was like one twenty to one sixteen. Yea, yeah,
- 6:49Speaker 2: imagine like Hoosier style set jump shots, you know, yes,
- 6:55Speaker 2: well Steph Curry's forty feet behind the three point lan.
- 6:57Speaker 2: It's just it's just weird to think about how basketball's
- 7:00Speaker 2: it evolved. Did you know the this out long Jamie
- 7:05Speaker 2: Moore has been around. I think his first start for
- 7:07Speaker 2: the Cubs was against Steve Carlton for the Phillies.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's how long he was. He pitched and I
- 7:13Speaker 2: think he retired and went like twenty my god, like
- 7:17Speaker 2: like twenty twelve something like that.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it was early twenty twenty ten's yeah, I.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Mean Steve Carlton started in the sixties. For guy's sake. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 2: that's that. That was his first opponent and the Flyers thing.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That was when I was still watching the Flyers a
- 7:33Speaker 2: little bit. I was like, yeah, Dwayne Simmons fan, I
- 7:35Speaker 2: love I love the tough guy thing.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And and I think I was. I was probably at
- 7:40Speaker 2: that game, the first Phillies win they beat the Reds. Yes,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I think they started their series against the Reds when
- 7:46Speaker 2: they open up the ballpark.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think it was Wow, you were there.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I'm sure I had. I had. I had like partial
- 7:53Speaker 2: season tickets, yeah, like half half the season, So I'm
- 7:56Speaker 2: sure I was there. I didn't have much going on,
- 7:57Speaker 2: you know, I was married, but I didn't have kids. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 2: at a dog yes, you know, I had to walk
- 8:02Speaker 2: before I went down to the subway go to the game.
- 8:03Speaker 2: But I'm sure it was there. Had a couple of
- 8:05Speaker 2: beers and had fun. And yeah, it's we're getting old though,
- 8:08Speaker 2: like that we are twenty one years ago.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I know, dude. And you're right about Jamie Moyer too.
- 8:12Speaker 1: By the way, he retired in twenty twelve a twenty
- 8:16Speaker 1: five year career. He last pitched for the Colorado Rockies. Actually,
- 8:20Speaker 1: but you know, when we talked to Jamie Moyer, we
- 8:23Speaker 1: had the opportunity, and honestly, it was an honor to
- 8:25Speaker 1: talk to him at the Redding Hot Stovers banquet that
- 8:29Speaker 1: the PSD podcast show attends every year and just hearing
- 8:33Speaker 1: about his career, his stories, and I referenced it every
- 8:36Speaker 1: now and again on this show. He is the staple,
- 8:39Speaker 1: in my opinion, for a professional athlete that over so
- 8:43Speaker 1: many years had to change and alter aspects of their
- 8:46Speaker 1: game to remain relevant in the sport that they played professionally.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And I think he is again that staple and that
- 8:53Speaker 1: individual that people can look tough to say, you know what,
- 8:56Speaker 1: Tom Brady may have had to do it in the
- 8:57Speaker 1: world of professional football, but really I think it's Jamie
- 9:01Speaker 1: Moyer who is the staple for that to have such
- 9:04Speaker 1: a long career and to be as relevant as he
- 9:06Speaker 1: was in Major League Baseball.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I've always likend him because I'm an NBA guy. To
- 9:10Speaker 2: a Ray Allen started. It was just an he was
- 9:13Speaker 2: an athletic phenom. You know, he came into the league
- 9:17Speaker 2: as he was in college and you know throughout the years.
- 9:20Speaker 2: When he finally made it to the Heat in like
- 9:22Speaker 2: twenty thirteen twenty fourteen season, the year they won the
- 9:26Speaker 2: second title, that they won, and he hit probably the
- 9:29Speaker 2: greatest shot in the history of the NBA. But he
- 9:32Speaker 2: kind of nestled into like a jump shot artist but
- 9:35Speaker 2: made huge shots. And just like Jamie Moyer started as
- 9:38Speaker 2: a normal pitcher and then he's like, I'm never gonna
- 9:41Speaker 2: be able to throw nine eight miles an hour. That's
- 9:43Speaker 2: just not me. Right by far, my favorite guy to
- 9:47Speaker 2: talk to in person at the reading Hot Stovers events.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He A close second was Greg Leuzinski, who was a little, little,
- 9:54Speaker 2: little tilty told great stories though, and I just couldn't
- 9:59Speaker 2: stop staring at the a glass of Scotch in his
- 10:01Speaker 2: hand and the giganic fingers.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Yep.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And I say that to say this because like he
- 10:06Speaker 2: looked like a baseball player I couldn't even relate to.
- 10:08Speaker 2: We talked to Jamie Moore and I'm like, this guy
- 10:10Speaker 2: he might have be in a cubicle next to me. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 2: exactly twenty some years and then Major League baxaically, Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 2: he was super cool.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Y yep. Absolutely, all right, Well that's gonna do it
- 10:19Speaker 1: for this week in Philly sports history. Now we're gonna
- 10:23Speaker 1: move on to a new news that came out this
- 10:27Speaker 1: week in the world of Eagles Nation, and we wanted
- 10:30Speaker 1: to talk for a moment about Jalen Hurts. As I
- 10:33Speaker 1: mentioned at the top, he's named one of Time Magazine's
- 10:36Speaker 1: most one hundred Influential People of twenty twenty five. Folks,
- 10:41Speaker 1: as we know, this is a quarterback who was drafted
- 10:44Speaker 1: in the second round of the twenty twenty NFL Draft
- 10:47Speaker 1: while the Eagles already had their franchise quarterback of the
- 10:51Speaker 1: future who later fizzled out completely. Where the Eagles had
- 10:56Speaker 1: to trade their franchise quarterback. Jalen Hurts comes in. We
- 11:00Speaker 1: don't really know what to expect. A lot of folks saying,
- 11:03Speaker 1: thank goodness, they drafted this quarterback in the second round.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Let's see what he Let's see what he's all about.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Just the level of work, the level of perseverance that
- 11:12Speaker 1: this gentleman has had over the years. Thank goodness for
- 11:15Speaker 1: that pick, because without hesitation at all, Jalen Hurts picked
- 11:20Speaker 1: up that leadership mantle for the Philadelphia Eagles and really,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, for an entire city, and now he's a
- 11:27Speaker 1: Super Bowl champion, one of Time's most one hundred Influential
- 11:32Speaker 1: People of twenty twenty five. Eric I just wanted to
- 11:36Speaker 1: bring this up, you know, because it's not too often
- 11:40Speaker 1: that we can say in the world of Philly sports
- 11:43Speaker 1: that we have had such a relevant team year after
- 11:46Speaker 1: year after year. The Eagles won the Super Bowl and
- 11:50Speaker 1: beat the New England Patriots, you know, kind of at
- 11:52Speaker 1: the you know, the height of their dynasty, and that
- 11:54Speaker 1: dynasty started dying off after the Eagles beat them with
- 11:58Speaker 1: the Nick Foles at the quarter position, and then we
- 12:02Speaker 1: have this tumultuous time with the quarterback position where Jalen
- 12:05Speaker 1: Hurts is Then then the guy to just pick everything up,
- 12:09Speaker 1: goes to a Super Bowl, loses to the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and then it meets them just a couple of years later,
- 12:18Speaker 1: beats the Kansas City Chiefs again. An incredible career and like,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I'm just as an Eagles fan and somebody loves this
- 12:27Speaker 1: team so much, just so grateful that we have this
- 12:30Speaker 1: guy and for him to be noticed as one of
- 12:33Speaker 1: the most influential people of twenty twenty five of this year,
- 12:39Speaker 1: it really says something about again I use that word perseverance,
- 12:42Speaker 1: that he has the type of individual I think that
- 12:46Speaker 1: he really is. I don't know, I was just I
- 12:48Speaker 1: don't get into the Hoki oh I feel so proud
- 12:51Speaker 1: of my city and my team and stuff. I always
- 12:53Speaker 1: happy when they win. I'm always happy when they're in
- 12:56Speaker 1: the playoffs, doesn't matter what team it is. But I
- 12:59Speaker 1: genuinely felt some sort of pride for some reason hearing
- 13:03Speaker 1: about this story reading about it this past week. Here
- 13:06Speaker 1: the fact that this guy who was able to get
- 13:09Speaker 1: give this team another championship, and with his other teammates
- 13:15Speaker 1: as well, it was It's just such a great story,
- 13:18Speaker 1: and it leads me to believe that this Philadelphia Eagles
- 13:21Speaker 1: team is going to be extremely relevant in the future
- 13:24Speaker 1: because of who this guy is as a person. So
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop onontificating. I don't know what are your
- 13:30Speaker 1: thoughts when you heard this news, Buddy.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I wasn't shocked, because, you know, it's a great story.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You know, like, he's won a super Bowl, he's been
- 13:40Speaker 2: to two, he's worth hundreds of millions of dollars at
- 13:44Speaker 2: this point. He wasn't a seventh round pick. He was
- 13:47Speaker 2: a second round pick, you know. But honestly, it's an
- 13:50Speaker 2: underdog story.
- 13:51Speaker 3: It is.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You know, he was benched in the twenty eighteen National Championship.
- 13:55Speaker 2: That would have been a death knell for some quarterbacks
- 13:57Speaker 2: that were kind of borderlined first, second, third rounders. The
- 14:01Speaker 2: Eagles made that move, and I remember we watched it.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I think that was that was the COVID one, right,
- 14:06Speaker 2: We all watched it kind of together on FaceTime or
- 14:08Speaker 2: whatever it was on zoom and all of us were
- 14:10Speaker 2: just like, hmm, okay.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Just freaking signed Carson Wentz. Why are they taking a
- 14:16Speaker 1: quarterback in the second round. Yeah, And that was before it.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Turned in like this we're a quarterback factory whatever, right,
- 14:22Speaker 2: but like thank god they did, and uh, it's it
- 14:26Speaker 2: really is an underdog story because like, who's the last
- 14:30Speaker 2: non first round quarterback to win a Super Bowl in
- 14:33Speaker 2: the past however many years? Is it Nick Foles?
- 14:35Speaker 1: Right?
- 14:36Speaker 2: If you think about it, it's I mean, Matt Stafford, Mahomes.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I mean, guys have made it to the Super Bowl,
- 14:41Speaker 2: weren't weren't first rounders, but like, nobody's won it. He's
- 14:44Speaker 2: one of He's one of the first ones. He's also
- 14:46Speaker 2: just on a on a on a on a local level.
- 14:51Speaker 2: He's finally shed that entire narrative. Like even this past
- 14:54Speaker 2: season a little bit, we were having conversations here and
- 14:56Speaker 2: there about like is he the guy games. He just look,
- 15:00Speaker 2: it just doesn't look like he has it, you know,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and that is officially done. Like we can never have
- 15:05Speaker 2: that conversation again. Brought a trophy home, And like I
- 15:09Speaker 2: talked a ton about the Eagles kicking the Chiefs ass defensively,
- 15:15Speaker 2: Uh so did he He kicked their ass offensively. I
- 15:19Speaker 2: mean he made some perfect throws. The dagger to the
- 15:22Speaker 2: heart in the beginning of the third quarter, end of
- 15:24Speaker 2: the entire game, they were done, and it was his
- 15:27Speaker 2: pass and great catch, but you know, great catch, but
- 15:31Speaker 2: perfect pass. And like he's he's he's that guy. Now
- 15:35Speaker 2: he's he's he's right, Like he's gone past the McNabb
- 15:39Speaker 2: conversation was like he's he's great, but just couldn't do
- 15:42Speaker 2: it right right, and and and in subsequent quarterbacks, like
- 15:45Speaker 2: even even Carson Wentz was probably gonna wind up being
- 15:47Speaker 2: that guy, even though his team went to the Super Bowl,
- 15:50Speaker 2: he didn't win it. So it's this is he's I mean,
- 15:54Speaker 2: you see the best quarterback we've ever had.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I would say yes, Yeah, I would absolutely say yes
- 15:59Speaker 1: at this point. Yeah, and he's not. Look, I think
- 16:02Speaker 1: the point too here and you look at the list
- 16:06Speaker 1: of one hundred most influential people or anything like that.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And you know athletes who have been on it in
- 16:10Speaker 1: the past, like you know, Simone Biles has been on it.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I think Derek Jeter may have been on it or
- 16:15Speaker 1: so I could be mistaken about that, but like, honestly,
- 16:19Speaker 1: he's not a douche. You know, you look at some
- 16:21Speaker 1: of the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the years, honestly,
- 16:25Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes, I mean Tom Brady as well. There's some
- 16:28Speaker 1: real douchey guys out there. You know. Jalen Hurts is
- 16:31Speaker 1: a very grounded individual, and that moniker of douche it's
- 16:36Speaker 1: just that's not him at all. And it's it's so
- 16:39Speaker 1: nice knowing that we're going to be going into future
- 16:42Speaker 1: seasons with this type of guy. Yes, Ken, things change,
- 16:45Speaker 1: Can attitudes change, Can folks change, you know as they're
- 16:49Speaker 1: moving along with their career. Absolutely, people can alter themselves
- 16:52Speaker 1: here and there in various ways. But I just don't
- 16:54Speaker 1: see it happening with Jalen Hurts, Like he is the
- 16:57Speaker 1: real deal.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I had heard prior to the Super Bowl victory,
- 17:02Speaker 2: prior to the season he could be a little preachy
- 17:04Speaker 2: at times in like in interviews and press conferences, But
- 17:09Speaker 2: if you win a super Bowl, you can preach as
- 17:12Speaker 2: much as you want to because he's real. It's not
- 17:16Speaker 2: fake preaching like Russell Wilson is a fake preachy guy,
- 17:21Speaker 2: like he got famous, he got the money, got the
- 17:23Speaker 2: famous girlfriend, and after he stopped winning, that preachiness like
- 17:28Speaker 2: rubs everyone in the wrong way, including his teammates. That's
- 17:30Speaker 2: why he's on the freaking Giants now and probably the
- 17:33Speaker 2: last stop in the NFL. Can't see that happening with
- 17:35Speaker 2: this guy, who's far more talented than Russell Wilson ever was,
- 17:38Speaker 2: in my opinion, And because he can do it with
- 17:41Speaker 2: his legs too, and has the Super Bowl ring, and
- 17:46Speaker 2: there's a good damn chance he's going to get one
- 17:48Speaker 2: or two more. I mean, if you look at the
- 17:50Speaker 2: NFL landscape, we're still young. He's one of the best
- 17:54Speaker 2: quarterbacks in the league, top three, I would say, And

- 18:00Speaker 2: as my national TV So I got ye. If I
- 18:03Speaker 2: had to make a bet, if I had to make
- 18:05Speaker 2: a wager that he's gonna win another one, I would
- 18:06Speaker 2: absolutely take ring number two. At some point, I.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Think it could happen for sure, absolutely deserves also to

- 19:12Speaker 1: Stick with us. We will be back in just a bit.
- 19:16Speaker 1: All right, we are back. It is good to be
- 19:19Speaker 1: talking about the end of this sixer season. Finally, Eric,
- 19:22Speaker 1: good to be talking about it. We had some awards
- 19:25Speaker 1: and trophies last week that we were given out, and
- 19:28Speaker 1: this week, folks, we're gonna be given out more awards
- 19:32Speaker 1: and trophies as the season has ended for this Philadelphia
- 19:36Speaker 1: seventy six ers team. Eric, I know, I think you
- 19:39Speaker 1: have more than I do, more trophies. I have three
- 19:43Speaker 1: trophies that I'm gonna be giving out. I know you've
- 19:45Speaker 1: got a few more, So why don't you? Why don't
- 19:47Speaker 1: we get started on the end of the season awards
- 19:50Speaker 1: and trophies here for this just absolutely dog crap of
- 19:55Speaker 1: a season here.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yes, horrible, And I thought about it right now. My
- 20:00Speaker 2: awards these are so much more fun when the team
- 20:03Speaker 2: sucks us. They're good like, yes, the you scored a
- 20:06Speaker 2: lot points award, Yes, it cares.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Oh, I've got some hokey ones. I've got some hokey
- 20:11Speaker 1: ones coming. I'm just letting everybody know, letting you know
- 20:13Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, mine are all bad. And some of
- 20:16Speaker 1: the references I'll probably have to explain nice okay, sounds good. Yeah,
- 20:19Speaker 1: because we you know, we are older and maybe they're
- 20:21Speaker 1: older references. Maybe I don't know. And we've got summer older,
- 20:25Speaker 1: some are personal are okay, yeah, yeah, all right, we'll
- 20:28Speaker 1: get us started here, buddy, Let's let's do our first
- 20:31Speaker 1: sixers trophy here. Who are we going to be given
- 20:34Speaker 1: this one to.
- 20:36Speaker 2: The first one is the PIP Award that stands for
- 20:39Speaker 2: a performance improvement plan if you've ever been bad at
- 20:42Speaker 2: work and you need to be put on a PIP.
- 20:45Speaker 2: This goes up to Nick Nurse. Ah, you were really
- 20:49Speaker 2: good last season as far as I could tell. Yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 2: and even though the season fell apart, even before I
- 20:56Speaker 2: was falling apart, I was not getting a good sense
- 20:58Speaker 2: that you're a good coach anymore.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 2: So when when Daryl Morey announced that he was coming
- 21:02Speaker 2: back for sure, but there'd have to be some changes,
- 21:05Speaker 2: I was like, Okay, he was on a pick. Now
- 21:07Speaker 2: he's one. He's got one season. They make this thing work.
- 21:11Speaker 2: If everyone comes back healthy and they keep their pick,
- 21:13Speaker 2: and he can't make it work, he's gonna have to
- 21:16Speaker 2: he's gonna have to walk. So yeah, he's got one shot.
- 21:19Speaker 2: He's done.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I like that.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think he's gonna end up sticking around, honestly,
- 21:25Speaker 1: because I don't think you can take what this season
- 21:27Speaker 1: was and yes, even though there was a lot of
- 21:29Speaker 1: questionable coaching type of decisions he would make here and there,
- 21:34Speaker 1: there was also a lot of experimentation with some of
- 21:37Speaker 1: the younger guys that we saw, especially towards the latter
- 21:39Speaker 1: part of the year and basically since well basically since February,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you know it. We just saw a lot of experimentation,
- 21:46Speaker 1: a lot of line up issues. Part of me felt
- 21:50Speaker 1: bad for the guy being put in that situation. It's
- 21:52Speaker 1: tough to feel bad for somebody who's an NBA coach.
- 21:56Speaker 1: You know, there's only there's only so many in this world,
- 21:59Speaker 1: and and make it all all that money, but when
- 22:01Speaker 1: you are dealt with this team was dealt this year,
- 22:04Speaker 1: it's really tough to be like, oh, you're the worst
- 22:06Speaker 1: coach in the world. I don't know, that's how I
- 22:08Speaker 1: see him.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Well, I felt bad from near the end of the
- 22:12Speaker 2: year because it's like, what do you want me to
- 22:14Speaker 2: do at this point?
- 22:14Speaker 3: Right?
- 22:14Speaker 2: I was like, just just lose, don't don't screw this. Right,
- 22:17Speaker 2: But when when there was a glimmer of hope when
- 22:20Speaker 2: they were like five hundred, like fifteen and fifteen, and
- 22:23Speaker 2: Maxi was playing well and Paul George was playing okay,
- 22:26Speaker 2: and b was like kind of filling in in spots. Yeah,
- 22:30Speaker 2: it's like you were you were losing to the Bulls
- 22:32Speaker 2: and the Kings. Yeah, and it was like and you
- 22:34Speaker 2: were losing the team when you still kind of had
- 22:37Speaker 2: a chance, Like yeah, that's where I was like, all right,
- 22:39Speaker 2: embid running this team and Nick Nurse has just lost
- 22:41Speaker 2: all control. Right, that's the one aspect of the year.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I'm like, maybe you shouldn't come back next year. That's
- 22:47Speaker 2: why he's on a pit jet one year to make
- 22:49Speaker 2: this work.
- 22:50Speaker 1: There you go, okay, sounds good. I like that a lot.
- 22:52Speaker 1: What's your next Want you do another one? And then
- 22:54Speaker 1: I'll do I'll do one of the trophies. Okay, here's
- 22:58Speaker 1: the next trophy here that we're gonna be audition out.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Who's this going to? Eric?
- 23:04Speaker 2: This is the George Costanza. It's not you, it's me, Award.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I've asked Joel and Beat out to lunch because I
- 23:12Speaker 2: have to break up with him. It's been such a tough,
- 23:15Speaker 2: tumultuous road with this guy and I just finally have
- 23:18Speaker 2: to do it. And I dropped him the line it's
- 23:21Speaker 2: not you, it's me, and he turns it George castansand goes,
- 23:26Speaker 2: I'm the inventor. If it's not you, it's not you,
- 23:29Speaker 2: it's me. Yes, Oh it's me, buddy. I'm the one
- 23:32Speaker 2: that fucked this whole season. They gave me the extension.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I went to the Olympics regardless. I wasn't healthy. I
- 23:39Speaker 2: came in out of shape like I do every fucking year.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I'm going to swear a little bit because I'm sick
- 23:43Speaker 2: of this guy right now. He just had his eighth
- 23:46Speaker 2: knee surgery or some shit, and I want to break
- 23:50Speaker 2: up with you so bad. But it is you, Joel.
- 23:52Speaker 2: It's not me, it's you, right, This is it, Like
- 23:54Speaker 2: there's no more pointing fingers, no more to blame. You're
- 23:58Speaker 2: the only guy left from your your call himself the process, right,
- 24:01Speaker 2: that's your nickname. Was no one else here, You're the
- 24:04Speaker 2: only one. So this dumpster fire is on your shoulders. Eric.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Last week, after we recorded, and I then talked to
- 24:12Speaker 1: Sean Bernard from Fox Sports Phillies the Gambler, I said,
- 24:15Speaker 1: it's astonishing where Joel Embiid was just two years ago
- 24:20Speaker 1: the MVP of the league, and the year prior to that,
- 24:24Speaker 1: he was the perennial runner up, and where we are
- 24:27Speaker 1: now just two years later. It is an astonishing fall
- 24:31Speaker 1: from Grace and I and we don't know who we're
- 24:34Speaker 1: gonna get next year. I have a feeling, I mean,
- 24:36Speaker 1: we're never gonna get two years ago Joel Embiid again,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that's never gonna happen. And I think if you're a
- 24:42Speaker 1: Sixers fan, you're a basketball fan, you understand that. However,
- 24:47Speaker 1: like he's still going to be, I think, a very
- 24:51Speaker 1: good NBA player, But it's still your award here is perfect.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It still doesn't mean that he hasn't screwed things up here.
- 25:02Speaker 1: In these past two years. There have been major screw ups.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I love the it's not you, it's me thing. I
- 25:08Speaker 1: absolutely love it. I think it's I think it's great.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Well you just wanted to take some blame here and there, Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 2: he just never has. Yeah, Like it just drives you crazy.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah all right, very good? All right. So I am
- 25:19Speaker 1: going to get into mine here, my hokey awards, and
- 25:24Speaker 1: my first one is this award is going to be
- 25:29Speaker 1: going to the guy who is most likely to be
- 25:32Speaker 1: mistaken for a ghost, and this is going to be
- 25:35Speaker 1: Paul George of Coat he had sixteen He averaged sixteen
- 25:40Speaker 1: point two points per game in twenty seven games I
- 25:43Speaker 1: believe it was twenty seven games this season, and then
- 25:46Speaker 1: completely vanished from the lineup. He was a ghost. He
- 25:53Speaker 1: was a ghost. He was Casper. He was absolutely a
- 25:57Speaker 1: non factor this season. And and he is getting and
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it up on the screen for those
- 26:02Speaker 1: watching on video. He is getting this trophy from me
- 26:06Speaker 1: right now. Again, the most likely seventy six are to
- 26:09Speaker 1: be mistaken for a ghost this season. That's what I have.
- 26:14Speaker 1: That's my hokey award.
- 26:16Speaker 2: As the technology gets better, can we have a ghost
- 26:18Speaker 2: like fly past the trophy?
- 26:21Speaker 1: I really wish I had time today to make that up.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I didn't eat my dinner tonight, told like nine to fifteen.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Same are So Can I just give out my Paul
- 26:31Speaker 2: George Award? Now?
- 26:32Speaker 3: Do it?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah? Which one is it? Yeah? Go ahead, It's the.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Deep Throat Award to Paul George. Who are you? Who?
- 26:40Speaker 2: Where are you from? Where have you come from? Where
- 26:42Speaker 2: are you going? Yes, no one knows who you are anymore.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 2: You were phenomenal with the Clippers for the previous two seasons.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Really great. Three years ago in the playoffs. I don't
- 26:53Speaker 2: know what the fuck happened to that guy. I never,
- 26:57Speaker 2: I never, I never. I never thought he was like
- 27:00Speaker 2: a problem in the locker room, yeah, or in press conferences.
- 27:03Speaker 2: He always seem like a stand up dude.
- 27:05Speaker 1: He enjoys podcasting. I enjoy it too, you know, I
- 27:08Speaker 1: understand I do too.
- 27:11Speaker 2: But I also have a job and have you know
- 27:14Speaker 2: kids that to take care of all, you know, that
- 27:15Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, life stuff. Yeah, my job, and
- 27:18Speaker 2: I get paid. Yeah. It's again, I don't know who
- 27:21Speaker 2: you are. If he comes in, he might come out
- 27:23Speaker 2: next year and everyone's healthy and he's just killing it.
- 27:26Speaker 2: He had a year off to rest and he might
- 27:29Speaker 2: be awesome. But right now, I don't know who you are.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Look, I am absolutely with you on this,
- 27:35Speaker 1: and I know it's gonna sound like I'm making excuses
- 27:37Speaker 1: for the guy. But when you're getting injections, a number
- 27:39Speaker 1: of injections continuously into your body over the course of
- 27:45Speaker 1: so many months of a season of doing professional sports,
- 27:50Speaker 1: oh man, you know there's something one definitely wrong there.
- 27:54Speaker 1: But it lends itself, of course to this award, the
- 27:58Speaker 1: deep throat award that you just said. You know who
- 28:00Speaker 1: are you Where are you going? Like, what's what's happening here?
- 28:04Speaker 1: I love it?
- 28:05Speaker 2: I love it.
- 28:05Speaker 1: That's a great award for sure. All Right, why don't
- 28:09Speaker 1: you do another one? Because I know you got a
- 28:10Speaker 1: you got a few more. I've got two more. Why
- 28:12Speaker 1: don't you do another one here?
- 28:14Speaker 2: All right? This one's a little obscure if you know
- 28:17Speaker 2: the movie High Fidelity Okay came out in two thousand
- 28:20Speaker 2: John Cusic Yep, the Rob Gordon Award. Oh character, yes,
- 28:25Speaker 2: and that goes out to Jimmy Butler. Oh, I know
- 28:28Speaker 2: he's on the sixers when I watched him annihilate the
- 28:32Speaker 2: Grizzly Grizzlies last night and helped the Warriors make it
- 28:36Speaker 2: to the seventh the seventh hole in the playoffs out
- 28:39Speaker 2: in the West. Yep. And you know there's there's there's
- 28:43Speaker 2: a fifteen minute part in that movie where Rob he
- 28:47Speaker 2: breaks up with his girlfriend or she breaks up with him,
- 28:49Speaker 2: and he goes to past girlfriends and tries to figure
- 28:52Speaker 2: out why did you break up with me?
- 28:53Speaker 1: What's wrong with me?
- 28:55Speaker 2: And I want to go to Jimmy Butler and just
- 28:56Speaker 2: be like, what what happened back? Why?
- 29:02Speaker 1: Why did you? Why did you leave? Like, what what
- 29:05Speaker 1: was the reaon come back to our city? Come back please?
- 29:08Speaker 2: Like even at thirty four years old last night, and
- 29:11Speaker 2: he's making too much money for what he does. But
- 29:13Speaker 2: I was like, this guy has a set of balls
- 29:15Speaker 2: on him. And he scored thirty points in a huge
- 29:17Speaker 2: game and he not just that, he made like twelve
- 29:20Speaker 2: free throws and he had ten assists. I was just like,
- 29:23Speaker 2: this is the exact guy they needed all these years. Yeah,
- 29:26Speaker 2: and they picked they they picked Ben Simmons over him, yep,
- 29:29Speaker 2: to buy his hairs over him, and he was the
- 29:32Speaker 2: guy and I just want to I just want to
- 29:34Speaker 2: take him a siege. Jimmy, I'm so sorry, Like what happened?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Tell me? I need to know because I need to
- 29:40Speaker 2: be better as a person going forward, and you're the
- 29:42Speaker 2: only can help me.
- 29:43Speaker 1: It's not just from an on the court perspective either,
- 29:45Speaker 1: Like he was so good in the locker room. Just
- 29:49Speaker 1: his energy that he had that's been missing so so
- 29:52Speaker 1: much from this team.
- 29:54Speaker 2: He's a dick. They needed a dick all these years
- 29:57Speaker 2: to take and be de side when he was being
- 29:59Speaker 2: yes superstar and be like hey, asshole, I want to
- 30:02Speaker 2: win a ring. You're my ticket.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yep.
- 30:04Speaker 2: That that Simmons, the Australian kid. Fuck him, he ain't it.
- 30:08Speaker 2: He would have been that guy to draw that line
- 30:11Speaker 2: in the sand. And we just we just I still
- 30:13Speaker 2: want to know what happened, Jimmy.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I like it.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I like it a lot. I like that award. All right.
- 30:18Speaker 1: My next award here, this trophy, folks, here is going
- 30:21Speaker 1: to be going out to the Sixers player who is
- 30:24Speaker 1: most likely to be mistaken as a VET. Award. That
- 30:29Speaker 1: that's what this award is and that and that's going
- 30:30Speaker 1: to go to one Jared McCain, a rookie who before
- 30:35Speaker 1: his injury was averaging fifteen point three points per game,
- 30:38Speaker 1: forty six percent field goal percentage. There again, the Sixers
- 30:44Speaker 1: player most likely to be mistaken as a VET. I
- 30:47Speaker 1: cannot wait to see. And this is where this is positive.
- 30:50Speaker 1: This is actually a positive award here. I can't wait
- 30:53Speaker 1: to see what he's gonna do next year, how he's
- 30:55Speaker 1: gonna fit in this team, of course, what the team
- 30:57Speaker 1: is going to look like, and if everybody is able
- 30:59Speaker 1: to stay healthy, Jared McCain is going to be a
- 31:01Speaker 1: key piece I think moving forward, and if he has
- 31:05Speaker 1: any semblance of of of common sense and in wanting
- 31:12Speaker 1: to develop and learn the game. I hope he has
- 31:14Speaker 1: a great relationship with Tyrese Maxey during the off season.
- 31:18Speaker 1: They're talking a lot, and Tyree's can really be that
- 31:20Speaker 1: foundation for him moving forward because how many how many
- 31:24Speaker 1: years were we saying, oh my gosh, Maxy's still developing,
- 31:27Speaker 1: He's still developing. We never saw this coming with I
- 31:30Speaker 1: see some Jared McCain attributes in terms of, you know,
- 31:36Speaker 1: if he's looking at a mirror, Tyrese Maxey could be
- 31:38Speaker 1: right there as well. So I'm that that's my award
- 31:41Speaker 1: that I'm given out to Jared McCain again, Sixers player
- 31:44Speaker 1: most likely to be mistaken as a VET because he
- 31:47Speaker 1: really was playing like it a lot this season.
- 31:49Speaker 2: When he was on the court, he looked great. And
- 31:52Speaker 2: I'll just go to my next award here quick, because
- 31:54Speaker 2: he's part of it. This is in honor of one
- 31:58Speaker 2: of the mothers of the show. Okay, all right, this
- 32:02Speaker 2: is the Paula Hunsicker Award.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Oh yes, yes, Paula Hunt Len's mom. An amazing, wonderful lady.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Yes, the best part of Len. Yes far no, no,
- 32:15Speaker 2: no disrespect to Lens Senior, but she is by far.
- 32:19Speaker 2: She is the number one all time of come into
- 32:23Speaker 2: my house, greeting you with open arms and love and food.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I love you, have you been kisses on the cheek exactly?
- 32:29Speaker 2: The greatest greeter, the greatest welcomer I've ever I've ever
- 32:34Speaker 2: experienced my life as someone's home. This goes out to
- 32:37Speaker 2: Tyres Maxi, Jeed McCain, and the fifth pick of the
- 32:40Speaker 2: draft this year, which we're going to get by the way, Yes,
- 32:42Speaker 2: welcome back boys, come on in what a tumultuous, ugly
- 32:47Speaker 2: crap season where we finished this season with the wh
- 32:51Speaker 2: Award winner Colin Castleton from last week, not to mention
- 32:56Speaker 2: some other guys that might come in. I might give
- 32:58Speaker 2: awards to you to here a little later. But like
- 33:01Speaker 2: I want players, I want positivity. We have to get
- 33:05Speaker 2: out of whatever this season turned into. Yeah, ugly breakups
- 33:09Speaker 2: with Joel Embiid. Paul George is a mystery. I don't
- 33:11Speaker 2: know who he is. Jimmy Butler's winning games. We need
- 33:15Speaker 2: you three to come back and and just live the
- 33:18Speaker 2: things up so well with open arms, whatever food you want,
- 33:22Speaker 2: if you want me to kisch on the cheek too,
- 33:23Speaker 2: like what we're drinking. Need Yeah, come on in, come
- 33:26Speaker 2: back please.
- 33:27Speaker 1: I love it. I love the Paula Hunsicker Award. I
- 33:29Speaker 1: mean I remember the first time, back when we were
- 33:32Speaker 1: in college. I walk in Len's house and I was
- 33:35Speaker 1: staying over for a night. We're going to be hanging
- 33:36Speaker 1: out in Norristown in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. And I walk
- 33:41Speaker 1: in and just a big hug, a big hug from
- 33:44Speaker 1: paul Huntsicker. I'd never met her before. I was like,
- 33:47Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, do I know you from someplace? You're
- 33:49Speaker 1: just like you said, welcoming with open arms, and uh,
- 33:54Speaker 1: we need that. We need that from the Sixers team desperately, man, desperately. Yep,
- 34:01Speaker 1: you want to do your next award? Yeah, I can
- 34:03Speaker 1: do my last one if you want. So my last one.
- 34:06Speaker 1: This one's really hokey. This one's really hokey. It's the
- 34:09Speaker 1: most like the award for the guy most likely to
- 34:13Speaker 1: be a Dad in the Locker Room Award, and that's
- 34:17Speaker 1: going to Gershan Yabuselli. Why because he's steady, he's calm,
- 34:23Speaker 1: and he's slightly disappointed, like at the end of the day.
- 34:28Speaker 1: So that the most Likely to be a Dad in
- 34:32Speaker 1: the Locker Room Award goes to Gershon Yabaselli.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Okay, well I have two more awards. One of them
- 34:40Speaker 2: is for him. I was going to give him the
- 34:43Speaker 2: Award for a decent Frenchman and that was in honor
- 34:50Speaker 2: of Len. For years. You know, you would see here
- 34:52Speaker 2: a French name and Len if you're watching TV, always going.
- 34:57Speaker 1: To this day, he'll still do that's all they do.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Hell of a player.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I don't.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what financially they're gonna do.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I know, yeah, bring him back, but he's he's gonna
- 35:10Speaker 2: he's gonna command some money on the market. So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I mean if you go big at your fifth pick,
- 35:16Speaker 2: if they keep the pick, then maybe he walks and
- 35:18Speaker 2: now suck. But like, yeah, I hope they can bring
- 35:20Speaker 2: him back.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, very good. Well what's what's your life?
- 35:23Speaker 1: You have one more?
- 35:25Speaker 2: One more? Okay, give us a shot here right here
- 35:27Speaker 2: we go. Okay, and this is this is Philadelphia related.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Okay, let's get this trophy out here, let's get it
- 35:33Speaker 1: going here, here we go.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Okay, this is the Billy Ray Valentine Award.
- 35:42Speaker 1: It was still a little muffled. It was a little muffled.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I tried, man, Okay, next time.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Well, well next time, Well, next time we'll actually get
- 35:50Speaker 1: the MP three to actually be able to play it here.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Oh man, is that better? That was a little bit better.
- 36:01Speaker 1: That was a little bit better. I mean, I can,
- 36:02Speaker 1: I can do this. Hold on, I'm just kidding. Car
- 36:07Speaker 1: crash beforehand. Have technology at our hands now. No, that
- 36:12Speaker 1: is the BILLI Array Valentine Get the fuck out award.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yes, that's Eddie Murphy's character from Trading Places, which took
- 36:18Speaker 2: place in Philadelphia. And that goes out to five five
- 36:21Speaker 2: six Ers, Kyle Lowry, Eric Gordon, oh, Jeff Dalton, Jared Butler,
- 36:26Speaker 2: Jalen Hood, Schaffino, get the fuck out. You don't need you.
- 36:31Speaker 2: You did what you had to do to get us
- 36:33Speaker 2: to possibly hopefully get the fifth pick. Your service has
- 36:37Speaker 2: been fulfilled. Don't let the door hitch in the ass,
- 36:40Speaker 2: all five of I'm sure there's more.
- 36:41Speaker 1: If I don't see Kyle Lowry again in a Sixers uniform.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Oh my, he gave us nothing this year.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Zero.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I wanted to put Monnie Walker on here, but he's
- 36:50Speaker 2: a reading boy. I hope they bring him back for
- 36:51Speaker 2: a cheap deal. But those five in particular, get the
- 36:54Speaker 2: fuck out.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But I mean that they, like you said, they helped
- 36:58Speaker 1: us get the possibly the fifth pick at this point.
- 37:00Speaker 1: You know who knows we I would be looking at
- 37:02Speaker 1: the fourth pick.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Yeah, great, you get some free tickets next year. Yeah,
- 37:05Speaker 2: I'm watch a good team.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Great awards here, Eric, God, I loved him. That was
- 37:11Speaker 1: a fun segment. But folks, we still want to talk
- 37:15Speaker 1: about this Sixers team just a little bit here, quick
- 37:17Speaker 1: discussion about how bad are the six I'm being serious
- 37:22Speaker 1: when I asked this, Like, how bad are the Sixers
- 37:25Speaker 1: going to get screwed by Adam Silver in the front
- 37:27Speaker 1: office leading up to the NBA Draft? We know that
- 37:30Speaker 1: the NBA front offices, Eric, have been investigating the seventy
- 37:34Speaker 1: six Ers for the tanking crap and nonsense, And I
- 37:39Speaker 1: just I don't know what's going to happen, but I
- 37:42Speaker 1: have a feeling Adam Silver is going to try something
- 37:45Speaker 1: to screw this team and front office over so bad
- 37:49Speaker 1: when it comes to the draft because of the amazing
- 37:52Speaker 1: tank job that they did. And maybe I'm just being
- 37:55Speaker 1: conspiratorial about it right now. Maybe I should get a
- 37:58Speaker 1: tinfoil hat and put it on here. I'm gonna need
- 38:00Speaker 1: to get one of those. I'm gonna need to get
- 38:02Speaker 1: one because now we have the visual, I'm gonna need
- 38:04Speaker 1: to get a tin foil hat. So I'm concerned, man,
- 38:07Speaker 1: I really am concerned that the NBA is really going
- 38:09Speaker 1: to try to screw the Sixers in terms of the draft.
- 38:12Speaker 2: If I didn't have amazing hair, I join you. That's
- 38:17Speaker 2: what people are tuning in for.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Absolutely, You're olive skin, blue eyes and amazing hair. I
- 38:30Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 38:31Speaker 2: I mean, if, okay, if you want to investigate us
- 38:34Speaker 2: for tanking, Who's who's who's on the trail who's the
- 38:39Speaker 2: pink panther on the trail of our Clouseau on the
- 38:43Speaker 2: trail of the Wizard right or the Hornets for the
- 38:45Speaker 2: past ten fucking years? And man, come on, like Utah
- 38:49Speaker 2: hasn't tried to win in like five seasons now, it's ridiculous.
- 38:53Speaker 2: I mean, if if I'll go the opposite way with
- 38:56Speaker 2: the tin hat thing, like I think to keep the
- 39:00Speaker 2: like the six Ers narrative is like messed up as
- 39:03Speaker 2: it is. They're also one of the biggest markets in basketball. Yeah,
- 39:08Speaker 2: like maybe you push them up to like one, two
- 39:10Speaker 2: or three and give them a like a top player
- 39:14Speaker 2: that's actually yeah, I don't know. I don't know, because like, okay,
- 39:17Speaker 2: you want your top three players going to Charlotte, Utah,
- 39:21Speaker 2: and Washington.
- 39:23Speaker 1: That sounds fun. Yeah, you know, I can see Cooper
- 39:27Speaker 1: Flag play a primetime game in like three years if exactly.
- 39:31Speaker 1: That like that'll be good for the markets, you know.
- 39:33Speaker 2: And then the fourth team is the Pelicans. Yeah, that's
- 39:35Speaker 2: they're one of the worst markets in basketball, and the
- 39:37Speaker 2: Sixers number five, and they're like the one of the
- 39:39Speaker 2: top four or five markets and basketball. I don't think
- 39:43Speaker 2: there's gonna be a screw job if if anything, if
- 39:45Speaker 2: they really want to like mess with the Sixers because
- 39:48Speaker 2: of Darryl for for whatever reason and his like controversies
- 39:53Speaker 2: with China and that kind of stuff, then you would give, okay,
- 39:56Speaker 2: see the seventh pick and the Sixers get screwed completely.
- 39:59Speaker 2: And this whole season was like worse than a dumpster fire.
- 40:02Speaker 2: It's a it's just a beached whale filled with shit.
- 40:07Speaker 2: It explodes, it's just it's just got on my then
- 40:10Speaker 2: it catches fire, like like I can't get word that.
- 40:13Speaker 2: That's the worst case scenario.
- 40:14Speaker 1: And then we're waiting twenty years for a possible championship,
- 40:17Speaker 1: if that ever comes in our lifetime again.
- 40:19Speaker 2: You know twenty My god, it's been thirty two, right,
- 40:23Speaker 2: I know, Yeah, I mean more maybe.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I don't know if I have another two I don't know,
- 40:28Speaker 1: if I have another forty two years in me, you
- 40:31Speaker 1: don't exactly. I don't know. If I have two years
- 40:34Speaker 1: in me, I'll be ninety.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Yeah, my son, VINEO have to like, you'll stuff me
- 40:43Speaker 2: and I'll take me out of the parade. It'll just
- 40:45Speaker 2: be like a.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Just a weekend at Bernie's, my.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Poor son and his friend Mason, my dead corp, dragging
- 40:56Speaker 2: me down street, Yeah, down road street.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Yes.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Now, I'm just hoping just just keep the five. This
- 41:05Speaker 2: is a really high end draft. Yeah, there's like five
- 41:08Speaker 2: or six really damn good ballplayers. If they can just
- 41:10Speaker 2: get a top five pick, whoever they take is gonna
- 41:12Speaker 2: help next year.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all right, very good. That's gonna do it
- 41:16Speaker 1: for our sixers. Talk here this week, before we get
- 41:20Speaker 1: to what we were thrown down on the table, We've
- 41:21Speaker 1: got a great interview with Destiny Legardo from Phillies Nation
- 41:24Speaker 1: dot Com. We wanted to talk about this Phillies team because, gosh, Eric,
- 41:28Speaker 1: they started the season strong man. They came out hot,
- 41:31Speaker 1: they won their first three series. We were talking about
- 41:34Speaker 1: them just last week, how they are able to contend
- 41:37Speaker 1: with a team like the Dodgers, and now all of
- 41:39Speaker 1: a sudden, holy crap, within the past week, this Phillies
- 41:43Speaker 1: team is having so much trouble from an offensive perspective
- 41:48Speaker 1: at this point with runners in scoring position, I think
- 41:50Speaker 1: they're like batting around one ninety nine, one ninety seven
- 41:54Speaker 1: somewhere around there. It's pathetic what's happening. Brandon marsh is
- 41:57Speaker 1: having major issues. Alec Bahoma is having major issue. Pretty sure,
- 42:00Speaker 1: we're gonna be getting into that with Destiny Legardo in
- 42:03Speaker 1: just a bit too. But I mean, I'm talking about
- 42:07Speaker 1: as much as I love them, Harper and Turner, these
- 42:10Speaker 1: guys really need to start stepping up big time. And
- 42:15Speaker 1: you know, these huge contracts. You know, it's I feel
- 42:19Speaker 1: like it's an albatross from a storyline perspective. You know,
- 42:22Speaker 1: they are making hundreds of millions of dollars with this
- 42:25Speaker 1: organization over the course of so many years. And we
- 42:29Speaker 1: always go to that, We always say, you know what,
- 42:30Speaker 1: they got these big contracts, so they should be doing it. Yes,
- 42:33Speaker 1: it's the game of baseball. There are ups and downs.
- 42:36Speaker 1: There are guys who go through various type of streaks
- 42:39Speaker 1: during the course of a season, but these are veteran
- 42:43Speaker 1: guys who've been playing baseball now for a long time.
- 42:46Speaker 1: And what we are seeing, and again I'm gonna mention
- 42:48Speaker 1: it to Destiny too, is like, I just feel like
- 42:50Speaker 1: we're at towards the end of the twenty twenty four season.
- 42:52Speaker 1: You know that we're seeing the same type of stuff.
- 42:54Speaker 1: We're seeing the same type of garbage. They're chasing garbage,
- 42:58Speaker 1: they're just trying. They're in their heads so much, trying
- 43:01Speaker 1: too hard that they're not playing the game of baseball
- 43:04Speaker 1: in an intelligent way. Quite frankly, it's been really enraging
- 43:08Speaker 1: to see where this team has gone within a week.
- 43:11Speaker 1: A week, man, it's it's pretty enraging.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Well, the good thing about baseball is, yeah, like last
- 43:17Speaker 2: week we were we're kissing their asses, and this week
- 43:20Speaker 2: it's like, oh, they look like shit. Yeah, it can
- 43:23Speaker 2: turn around next week. But some of the some of
- 43:25Speaker 2: the real fears that you have, you know, the your
- 43:30Speaker 2: top three ops guys right now are schwarber sosen Castianos,
- 43:33Speaker 2: like and we know how up and down Schwarburn Castianos
- 43:37Speaker 2: can be like it is they are, They are not
- 43:39Speaker 2: steady whatsoever. Harper's Harper's kind of leveling. He's kind of
- 43:44Speaker 2: you know, he's bat in two seventy eight, seventy three ops.
- 43:46Speaker 2: But like Stott's been hot lately. But where where you're
- 43:50Speaker 2: really scared is your younger guys like Alec Baum is
- 43:55Speaker 2: just having a ridiculously bad starting season. Cratered that this
- 44:00Speaker 2: should be where he starts to take the mantle a
- 44:03Speaker 2: little bit from the older guys, not completely, but like
- 44:05Speaker 2: he should be like right there with them. We talked
- 44:08Speaker 2: about Brandon marsh Earley this year, like is he going
- 44:10Speaker 2: to secure the center field spot? It's gonna get a
- 44:12Speaker 2: big contract.
- 44:12Speaker 1: I was so high on him too when we were
- 44:14Speaker 1: doing our Philly season preview, Buddy, I was like, I
- 44:17Speaker 1: was really high on him, Like, yeah, let him be
- 44:19Speaker 1: the everyday center field or whoa boy.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Listen, the Mendoza line, if you're a baseball historian, is
- 44:25Speaker 2: two hundred. He's batting ninety five.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Yes, he's whatever.
- 44:30Speaker 2: The one hundred line is. He's belowed that right, So
- 44:34Speaker 2: that doesn't get much worse than that, and you know,
- 44:38Speaker 2: and you can't expect much from from Max Kepler and
- 44:41Speaker 2: even even real Muto offensively just because you know, you
- 44:45Speaker 2: brought Kepler in as kind of a small gamble. And
- 44:48Speaker 2: if he's bad, he's doing what exactly you'd expect me
- 44:51Speaker 2: to do, I think, Yeah, and real Muto's gonna get hurt.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Trey Turner is just the man. He's slowly becoming that
- 44:59Speaker 2: top in top twenty turn into punk punch bowl, big,
- 45:04Speaker 2: big time Philly athlete. You're like, yeah, how much money
- 45:06Speaker 2: we give this guy? Yeah, he's batting two twenty two. Yeah, Like,
- 45:10Speaker 2: what the hell we like he is? Yeah? If you
- 45:12Speaker 2: look at the I don't always like love to look
- 45:14Speaker 2: at the war, you know, stat Yeah, but I mean
- 45:17Speaker 2: they got they got one guy that's over one on offense.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Do they really? I actually haven't looked at the Winds
- 45:24Speaker 1: above replacements my Schwarber, and that's it.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Everyone else is like, yeah, you're pretty average. Yeah, wow,
- 45:31Speaker 2: Marsh you're actually worse than average pitching wise. It's it's
- 45:35Speaker 2: it's not like Wheelers had some shaky starts.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Raise over four.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Noah's almost at seven. Yeah, thank god for Lozardo and Sanchez,
- 45:46Speaker 2: they've pitched pretty well, be really really nice when they
- 45:49Speaker 2: get God helped me out and Paynter well, no, I
- 45:54Speaker 2: mean when he if he comes up, yeah Suarez when
- 45:57Speaker 2: yeah back?
- 45:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, it should be soon.
- 46:01Speaker 2: And and kind of in their defense, I did go
- 46:03Speaker 2: back and look at some of the pitching matchups or
- 46:05Speaker 2: some of the pitchers they faced against the Cardinals and
- 46:08Speaker 2: the Giants, and we just kind of we just kind
- 46:10Speaker 2: of ran up against their best pitchers, like Robbie Ray
- 46:12Speaker 2: tonight kicked the shit out of them. Absolutely every Cardinals
- 46:16Speaker 2: pitcher had a pretty good outing against them. I forget
- 46:19Speaker 2: who pitched the Game one against the Giants, but I
- 46:22Speaker 2: mean Justin Burliander pitched last night against the Phillies. Yeah,
- 46:27Speaker 2: I'm like, is it two thousand and set again? I
- 46:31Speaker 2: know he's still in the league, I'll be honest with you,
- 46:33Speaker 2: but but like they've had some tough pitching matchups, but
- 46:37Speaker 2: that doesn't excuse like, you know, having a ninety five
- 46:41Speaker 2: batting average exactly.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's uh, it's look, I'm not
- 46:46Speaker 1: panicking at all at this point. Like I'm not. There's
- 46:49Speaker 1: no panic because there's still a lot of season left.
- 46:51Speaker 1: It's like, get the crap out right now, get the
- 46:54Speaker 1: garbage baseball play out now, so that comes summertime, you know,
- 46:59Speaker 1: this team is hopefully to be clicking on all cylinders.
- 47:01Speaker 1: So that being said, Buddy, I'm gonna let you go
- 47:04Speaker 1: and then we're gonna bring Destiny Legardo on from Phillies
- 47:07Speaker 1: Nation dot com. You got any final thoughts man before
- 47:09Speaker 1: we head out?
- 47:10Speaker 2: I'm tired, you t.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm tired too. All right, Well, why don't we go
- 47:14Speaker 1: to a break here and when we come back, we're
- 47:18Speaker 1: gonna be hanging out with Destiny Legardo. Let's take that
- 47:21Speaker 1: break right now and now on the table, joining us
- 47:29Speaker 1: this week, coming to us from Phillies Nation dot com.
- 47:32Speaker 1: She and her colleagues over there do a fantastic job
- 47:36Speaker 1: of reporting on this Philadelphia Phillies team, and we got
- 47:39Speaker 1: a lot to get into when it comes to the
- 47:41Speaker 1: Philadelphia Phillies. Eric and I were just talking about this
- 47:45Speaker 1: team and the lack of offense. We're gonna dive into
- 47:48Speaker 1: it even more with our guests. Again from Philliesnation dot com.
- 47:52Speaker 1: She runs the ship over there, Miss Destiny Legardo. Destiny,
- 47:55Speaker 1: thanks so much for joining us here.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Thanks for having me, Jeff, Yes, I do run the
- 47:59Speaker 3: ship now.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Yes, it's a fun time in the world of Phillies Nation.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Here I say a fun time because there's always ups
- 48:07Speaker 1: and downs when it comes to this team. I mean,
- 48:09Speaker 1: it's amazing what we've seen thus far. I think with
- 48:14Speaker 1: this Phillies team, because they come out of the gate
- 48:17Speaker 1: really strong to start the season, we are all on
- 48:19Speaker 1: a high and now they are just in a tough
- 48:21Speaker 1: spot not being able to really score runs. In fact,
- 48:24Speaker 1: I think they're batting like one ninety seven with runners
- 48:28Speaker 1: and scoring position as of us recording this on April sixteenth.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Here this week. Look, I'm not going to panic as
- 48:35Speaker 1: a fan since we still have a lot more baseball
- 48:37Speaker 1: to watch from this team. We know how major League
- 48:40Speaker 1: baseball works, we know how the ins and outs of
- 48:43Speaker 1: players work. But there are definitely some things that we're
- 48:47Speaker 1: seeing right now that are very concerning with this team,
- 48:50Speaker 1: and it's basically destiny. I'm thinking, like the kind of
- 48:53Speaker 1: stumbling that we saw during the last couple of months
- 48:56Speaker 1: of the twenty twenty four season and recently Trey Turner
- 49:00Speaker 1: he said, it's just a matter of time before the
- 49:01Speaker 1: offense starts coming around. Thank you, Trey, Please make it
- 49:05Speaker 1: so Destiny. What do you think we should be most
- 49:08Speaker 1: concerned about when it comes to the batting with this
- 49:11Speaker 1: Phillies team here in April.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there are some disappointing stories early on,
- 49:18Speaker 3: particularly when we're talking about Alec Bohum and Brandon Marsh.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Really with Alec Bohm, you like the quality of contact.
- 49:26Speaker 3: What you don't like is him sulky in some of
- 49:28Speaker 3: his failures. And I know in spray trading, the team
- 49:33Speaker 3: talked him up and said, like, oh, he's a new guy.
- 49:35Speaker 3: He's got a positive spirit even after an off season
- 49:38Speaker 3: of trade rumors, and we kind of saw the same thing.
- 49:41Speaker 3: But I do think Boum is starting to get out
- 49:43Speaker 3: of it a little bit, and hopefully he's learning from
- 49:47Speaker 3: just going through a bad slump and learning from the
- 49:50Speaker 3: idea that you don't have to kind of take every
- 49:52Speaker 3: bad result in and you could kind of be resilient
- 49:56Speaker 3: that way. And then with Marsh, it's just like it
- 50:00Speaker 3: feels like he's putting a lot of pressure on himself
- 50:03Speaker 3: and you kind of understand that just because he came
- 50:05Speaker 3: into this season with this idea that he's gonna, you know,
- 50:09Speaker 3: prove to the team that he is the everyday center fielder.
- 50:12Speaker 3: And I think as a result he is putting too
- 50:15Speaker 3: much pressure on himself. I know he talked about last
- 50:19Speaker 3: night he was just a little bit still in the
- 50:21Speaker 3: box and not feeling himself, and after a couple of
- 50:24Speaker 3: days of work he does feel a little bit better.
- 50:26Speaker 3: As of right now, he's still over twenty nine, so
- 50:29Speaker 3: at some point, like he's he's going to get a hit.
- 50:32Speaker 3: But it's been a pretty brutal slump for him early on,
- 50:36Speaker 3: and it's it's definitely hit his confidence, but it's you know,
- 50:42Speaker 3: everybody goes through this, right Its slumps are inevitable. So
- 50:46Speaker 3: these guys are going to get out of it, and
- 50:48Speaker 3: other guys are going to go into slumps, and then
- 50:50Speaker 3: we're gonna be freaking out about other players. It's just
- 50:52Speaker 3: a repetitive cycle of watching baseball. But I guess like
- 50:57Speaker 3: the biggest concern and I totally understand where people are
- 51:00Speaker 3: coming from, just because we've seen a lot of this
- 51:02Speaker 3: over the last couple of years. I think the angst
- 51:05Speaker 3: of the results of the last two playoffs where they
- 51:09Speaker 3: stopped hitting kind of seeps into this year, and whenever
- 51:12Speaker 3: you see signs of that coming into play, of course,
- 51:16Speaker 3: like people are are going to be freaking out. So
- 51:20Speaker 3: I think in general this year, like the bats have
- 51:23Speaker 3: been better runners in scoring position. I can't really say
- 51:26Speaker 3: the same thing. I just feel like there's a lack
- 51:28Speaker 3: of you know, execution and sometimes a lack of recognizing
- 51:33Speaker 3: the situation definitely.
- 51:34Speaker 2: But yeah, you know, when it comes to to you.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Know, runners in scoring position, like it's such a fickle
- 51:40Speaker 3: stat like it's it's gonna change. Sometimes there's years like
- 51:44Speaker 3: I think of the Atlanta Braves last year, like they
- 51:46Speaker 3: just never hit with runners in scoring positions. You just
- 51:48Speaker 3: hope that that's not the case. But I think that's
- 51:52Speaker 3: that's something that's gonna, you know, trend in a more
- 51:54Speaker 3: positive direction. But I do understand a lot of the
- 51:57Speaker 3: fan concern Early on. I'll tell people like, you know,
- 52:02Speaker 3: this is the same thing. It happens every year. Guys
- 52:04Speaker 3: go into slumps and then they come out of it.
- 52:07Speaker 3: You just have to be a little bit patient.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Yeah, we do have to be patient. I mean, I'm
- 52:11Speaker 1: hoping Brandon Marsh doesn't wait until June to get that
- 52:15Speaker 1: next hit that we are so needing from him. And
- 52:19Speaker 1: in the same with Alec Bohm. I mean, just you know,
- 52:22Speaker 1: there's something to be said for sports psychology. The mental
- 52:26Speaker 1: aspects of the game of baseball. And I mean I
- 52:30Speaker 1: would imagine and I don't know, maybe it's something you
- 52:33Speaker 1: can ask, honestly, destiny when you are behind the scenes
- 52:36Speaker 1: and when you are reporting, like how the sports psychology
- 52:39Speaker 1: has been going for this team. Do they have the
- 52:42Speaker 1: resources at Citizens Bank Park and within the club for
- 52:47Speaker 1: these guys to help them? Because what you're talking about,
- 52:50Speaker 1: and you said it, it's mental, I mean, this is
- 52:52Speaker 1: mental what is happening with this team? And hopefully from
- 52:55Speaker 1: a sports psychology standpoint, it's tough to just work these
- 52:59Speaker 1: things out on a whim, like taking you know, just
- 53:01Speaker 1: at the snap of a finger. It takes time, and
- 53:03Speaker 1: I think we need to understand that as fans. So
- 53:06Speaker 1: who knows me, Maybe maybe you want to ask about that.
- 53:08Speaker 1: I'm not telling you how to do your job.
- 53:10Speaker 3: I mean I could say I know that, like the
- 53:14Speaker 3: Phillies are a team that, you know, pour the resources
- 53:16Speaker 3: into everything that could possibly be an advantage for them,
- 53:19Speaker 3: and one of them is definitely, you know, the mental skills.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Like you'll see all these people behind the scenes, and
- 53:24Speaker 3: I think a big part of it not just you know,
- 53:27Speaker 3: the people that are the specialists, but I think a
- 53:29Speaker 3: lot of the veterans, like I think of Kyle Schwarber
- 53:32Speaker 3: and even Bryce as like guys that you could lean
- 53:35Speaker 3: on if you are going through something like a slump
- 53:38Speaker 3: that's just kind of weighing you down mentally. I especially
- 53:41Speaker 3: think like guys like Kyle and Bryce could be like
- 53:44Speaker 3: a huge asset to the younger players. Yeah, but yeah,
- 53:48Speaker 3: like it's just a matter of it's really hard to
- 53:52Speaker 3: talk about this stuff too, just because I've like the
- 53:56Speaker 3: fan and the media person like we've never experienced anything
- 53:59Speaker 3: like this where you're trying hard as you possibly can
- 54:01Speaker 3: to do the right thing and get the result, but
- 54:04Speaker 3: it's just not happening, and how do you deal with that?
- 54:07Speaker 3: And honestly, like I'm always amazed at how well these
- 54:11Speaker 3: guys can deal with failure. So it's a little bit
- 54:14Speaker 3: it's strange to see like someone like Boem who obviously
- 54:19Speaker 3: is having a hard time with it, like you empathize
- 54:21Speaker 3: with that because you can't really imagine yourself being in
- 54:24Speaker 3: that same situation. But I guess that's part of being
- 54:28Speaker 3: a professional baseball player, is that you have to be
- 54:30Speaker 3: able to deal with the failures and then also you know,
- 54:36Speaker 3: congratulate yourself when you're doing well.
- 54:38Speaker 1: So absolutely there's a balance.
- 54:39Speaker 2: It's a great question though, Yeah, there's a.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Balance for sure. Well. As we're moving along here, the
- 54:44Speaker 1: offensive approach hasn't really changed too too much as we
- 54:49Speaker 1: know from last year to this year. And as a
- 54:51Speaker 1: fan destiny, as someone who understands baseball, I don't again
- 54:56Speaker 1: want to overreact to what we are seeing on the field.
- 54:59Speaker 1: But there have been a lot of lineup changes already
- 55:02Speaker 1: this year and I'm I'm gonna be getting into the
- 55:05Speaker 1: leadoff spot in just a bit with our conversation, But
- 55:08Speaker 1: you know, what should we be making of all the
- 55:10Speaker 1: lineup changes that we've seen thus far? And is this
- 55:13Speaker 1: a reflection of maybe the team possibly losing some confidence
- 55:17Speaker 1: in themselves, maybe trying to find themselves because I feel
- 55:21Speaker 1: like there there's some urgency here that we're seeing early
- 55:25Speaker 1: in this season. And I guess also to follow up too,
- 55:28Speaker 1: if you know, if this means that Kevin Long as
- 55:31Speaker 1: the hitting coach, might his job be in jeopardy here?
- 55:35Speaker 1: So I don't know what do we make of all
- 55:38Speaker 1: these lineup changes? And you know, is Kevin Long could
- 55:41Speaker 1: he be possibly on the chopping block here?
- 55:43Speaker 3: Yeah, the lineup changes are super interesting to me, just
- 55:47Speaker 3: because the way Rob Thompson has worked these last few
- 55:52Speaker 3: years is that he would kind of stick with a
- 55:54Speaker 3: certain lineup and show trust in certain guys, and then
- 55:57Speaker 3: when he does change the lineup, it's kind of a
- 55:59Speaker 3: side move. And then now, like, I feel like they're
- 56:04Speaker 3: just trying to find the right combination and get guys
- 56:07Speaker 3: used to being in different spots. And I don't think
- 56:09Speaker 3: that's a matter of panicking. I think it's I think
- 56:14Speaker 3: part of it too, is narrative because we talk so
- 56:17Speaker 3: much about the lineup and you know, what's the best
- 56:21Speaker 3: combination of guys. It's like if you change the lineup
- 56:23Speaker 3: every day, that we're a bit exhausted by this conversation
- 56:27Speaker 3: and it's kind of rendered meaningless. So that's my like
- 56:30Speaker 3: conspiracy theory when it comes to the lineup. This is
- 56:33Speaker 3: something that I actually really want to ask Rob about,
- 56:36Speaker 3: just because he is known for thinking about his lineup,
- 56:40Speaker 3: stays in advance, and then when he does make a change,
- 56:42Speaker 3: it doesn't look like he's being reactionary or panicky. So
- 56:46Speaker 3: I wonder if that change that has changed at all
- 56:49Speaker 3: this year. Yeah, you know, I'm sure like it's a
- 56:53Speaker 3: matter of like he knows three days in advance who's playing,
- 56:56Speaker 3: and then it's a matter of like figuring out the
- 56:58Speaker 3: lineup combination. You know, I'll figure that out later. But
- 57:02Speaker 3: you know, as far as Kevin Long goes, I think
- 57:04Speaker 3: that this is more of like a evaluate the situation
- 57:08Speaker 3: after the playoffs, right, because Kevin.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Long has been doing a pretty good job as a
- 57:12Speaker 1: hitting coach now for some time here.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Like there's been some success stories. Like I think
- 57:17Speaker 3: about like Brandon marsh when he came here. I know,
- 57:20Speaker 3: like we're talking about him struggling. I even think about
- 57:23Speaker 3: like the changes he should suggested the Max Kepler and
- 57:27Speaker 3: how they they panned out in spring training. I know
- 57:30Speaker 3: it's been a bit of an uneven start for him,
- 57:33Speaker 3: but I think that'll turn into another Kevin Long success story.
- 57:37Speaker 3: And you know, all the guys like him, and there
- 57:39Speaker 3: was like, you know, a valid conversation whether they should
- 57:42Speaker 3: move on or not after you know, the same thing
- 57:45Speaker 3: happening in the playoffs last year, And I think if
- 57:49Speaker 3: if it happens again a third time, then I think
- 57:51Speaker 3: the move is obvious. But I don't see like in
- 57:54Speaker 3: in season change the way, you know, I think back
- 57:57Speaker 3: to twenty nineteen where they inserted Charlie Manuel right just
- 58:02Speaker 3: to kind of get everybody to clear their head, Like,
- 58:06Speaker 3: I don't see that as something that's gonna happen this year,
- 58:09Speaker 3: but yeah, you're right, like they're gonna have to and
- 58:14Speaker 3: this is you know, it's October, so like we're months
- 58:16Speaker 3: away from kind of dealing with that conversation. But they're
- 58:19Speaker 3: gonna have to. Uh there's going to be a have
- 58:22Speaker 3: to be a different result for him to keep his
- 58:24Speaker 3: job next year.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I can agree with that absolutely. Yeah, some some reevaluation
- 58:28Speaker 1: for sure. And I mentioned the leadoff spot to you,
- 58:33Speaker 1: and I was I was really wondering at the start
- 58:35Speaker 1: of the season, Destiny what we should be making of
- 58:38Speaker 1: the leadoff spot with with that particular storyline, because there
- 58:42Speaker 1: was some juice to whether or not there were going
- 58:44Speaker 1: to be different players and and different strategies or just
- 58:48Speaker 1: you know, trying to throw something against the wall and
- 58:51Speaker 1: see what sticks with regard to the leadoff spot. And uh,
- 58:55Speaker 1: you know, I was coming into this season season thinking
- 58:58Speaker 1: that we would see some experiment and other folks are
- 59:01Speaker 1: kind of like, ah, it's really not gonna happen. It's
- 59:03Speaker 1: gonna be Coylle war berh blah blah blah. But we
- 59:05Speaker 1: are definitely seeing some changes every now and then to
- 59:08Speaker 1: the leadoff spot. What should we be making of this here? Ed,
- 59:12Speaker 1: What have you been thinking about this?
- 59:15Speaker 3: I think this is super interesting too. And you know,
- 59:17Speaker 3: we just talked about the lineup as a whole. But
- 59:20Speaker 3: I know in spring training Rob was asked about Brice
- 59:24Speaker 3: and stodd as a leadoff guy and he was just like,
- 59:27Speaker 3: you know, the way the lefty heavy lineup is just
- 59:29Speaker 3: not gonna happen. And then lo and behold, Like in
- 59:32Speaker 3: the middle of April, he's kidding lead off against right
- 59:35Speaker 3: handed starters. And the big storyline in spring training too
- 59:39Speaker 3: is that they're gonna move Trey Turner to the lead
- 59:41Speaker 3: off spot to kind of nudge him into thinking of
- 59:44Speaker 3: a different approach and thinking about getting on base and
- 59:47Speaker 3: going the other way. And then now he's just the
- 59:50Speaker 3: leadoff hitter against lefties. And then pow Shoreward, it's like
- 59:52Speaker 3: who cares where he hits? Like he's gonna hit no
- 59:55Speaker 3: matter where you put him. So yeah, Like, I mean,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I'm curious to see how the Bryson Stott lead off
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: experiment goes. Like I'm more of a proponent of like
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: your three best hitters have to hit one, two, three,
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: and I'm not quite there as far as like Bryson
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: stopped being one of their three best hitters. Like to me,
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: it's obviously like Schwarber, Bryce and Trey. I'm more interested
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: in seeing if Rob continues with stacking the lefties. It's
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: a little bit easier for this series. And when I
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: mean stacking the lefties, I mean hitting Schwarber and Harper
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: back to back, or Harper and Shorter back to back.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: It's a little bit easier for the Giants here. It's
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: just because they only have one lefty in the bullpen.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: But I think a massive flaw in the way they've
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: constructed lineups in the last few years is the lack
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: of shrikes Bryce is seen in the shrike zone, and
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: that it's a big part of you know, they've had
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Boem and Costianos behind him as the protection. I think
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: that's a big reason why that Harper's not seeing a
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: lot of strike So having Schreber theoretically behind him is
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: hopefully going to help. So I'm curious to see if
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: that continues and if like we actually see Bryce getting
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: more strikes in the zone. And as a result, you know,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: having better numbers. It's it's it's crazy because like Bryce,
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: you know, he has great numbers anyway, but like he's
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: doing this without like seeing like the least amount of
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: strikes as any other hitter in baseball.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: But yeah, like as I said before, like the whole
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: lineup conversation, I know, like people like to poop poo
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: it and say like in the end, it really doesn't matter.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: But like the fact that we're continuing to talk about
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: it it does matter. Does it also matters too?
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yes, Yeah, absolutely it does. I don't yeah that that
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: that that whole narrative of that it really doesn't matter
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: in the end. I don't buy it. I really don't.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: So glad, I'm glad we're on the same page.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: That's my anti analytics take. As you think lineups actually matter,
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: it's not just a matter of like it like a
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: difference of like four runs over the course of the season.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, Well, as we're moving along with a
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: conversation here Destiny, you know, we were talking about Brandon
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: marsh here, and I had so much hope for him
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: coming into this season. I really thought that he would
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: be able to seize the moment with his starts and
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: also how he would be performing against lefties. I was
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: a big proponent for him being that every day center
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: fielder here, but of course, as we know, he's been
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: disappointing to say the least, and it's just bench basically.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: A few days ago here, I just you know, we
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: talked about sports psychology. We talked about, you know, how
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: players in general try to get out of the slumps
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: that they get into during the course of seasons. Is
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: there anything Rob Thompson you think and the coaching staff
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: can be doing more to possibly help him at this point?
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: And this really transcends to the team too, because, like
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: we were talking about earlier, this is gonna happen to
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: maybe maybe just about everybody because everybody does go through
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: slumps here. Can Rob Thompson and company be doing anything more?
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Yeah? I think they're They're doing a lot already, especially
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: Kevin Long behind the scenes, just trying to get him
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: mechanically right. And I think I mentioned this before, like
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: he he thought he was too still in his mechanics
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: and he has to kind of get back to his
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: bounty self. But I think the thing that Brandon marsh
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: could lean on. And this is kind of different than
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Boem is that he's a positive spirit and a guy
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: that could not only uplift others, but uplift himself. So
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: you know, obviously, like when you see you know for
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: twenty nine, you're going to be down yourself. But I
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: think he can rely on his ability to kind of
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: put the past in the past and kind of focus on,
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: you know, not only getting good results for himself, but
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: he's also a very team oriented guy, and he's hitting
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: at the bottom of the lineup, so he's not expected
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: to carry the team, right, so you know, he could
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: kind of take soul list in the fact that he
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: gave a good at beat and then that kind of
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: led to the top of the lineup doing something you know,
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: a little bit later. So yeah, I just I mean,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: I feel pretty confident in Brandon marsh getting out of it.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Like I don't think it's a matter of like, you know,
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: the manager, the hitting coach helping him out too much.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: Like I think he kind of has the tools within
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: himself to you know, kind of lift himself out of
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: the slump.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well, as we're moving along with the
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: conversation here, folks, if you are not following Destiny on
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: various social media sites out there, you got a follow her.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: She is fantastic. And again, the content over at Phillies
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Nation dot com is always stellar, great, great reporting. I'm
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: checking every single day what's happening over at Phillies Nation
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: dot com. You should as well, Destiny. Where can folks
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: find you out there on the interwebs if they, you know,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: wanted to, you know, see your your Twitter slash X
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: or you know stuff that you're up posting out there.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm still on X. Honestly, I'm not as
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: active as I used to be on you can Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: you could find me at Destiny Underscore Legardo on X
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: on Blue Sky, I believe I'm just Destiny Legardo. I'm
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: a little bit more active on there. I let all
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: my dumb thoughts out on Blue Sky as opposed X,
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: just because the uh, sometimes the reaction is a little
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: bit too much for me. Well, but like I'm still
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: like I don't want to get too much on a
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: tangent on here, Like I still appreciate everybody that does
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: follow me on like whatever platform you do, and I
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: do want to serve like the audience that wants to
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: hear from me. So even if I'm not like replying
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: to everybody like I'm I'm still like trying to be
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: the best I could possibly be at my job. And
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: you know, whether it's just like me, you know, posting
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: an article and you learned something, or you know a
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: random update on Twitter, you know that's what I'm here for.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I will say I will say this too, And I
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: honestly wasn't even planning on mentioning this, but folks, Destiny
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: is one of those reporters that's not only doing her
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: job at Citizens Bank Park, she has access and credentials
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: to things that we aren't able to see a consummate professional.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yet she is a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, and
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: balancing those two things have been something that I have
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: witnessed over these years that I think is absolutely phenomenal. Destiny.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I'm serious, I really do, because I know that I
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: couldn't do it. There's a reason why I have not
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: tried to get this podcast show credentialed over the years
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: in various ways with various professional sports organizations down in Philadelphia.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: It's because, like, I'm too much of a fan. But
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: you balance things out so incredibly well from a professional
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: standpoint and a fan perspective. I just I got to
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: give you all the credit in the world. I just
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: want folks to know, if you are listening to this
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: for the first time, if you're hearing Destiny for the
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: first time, or watching on YouTube, a consummate professional yet
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: of balance of both.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I I could say, like I started in
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: my job, like when I was very young, and I
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: was worried about like the transition of like going from
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: a reporter to or going from a fan to becoming
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: a reporter. And what I found is that I find
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: the job to be like so fulfilling that it's it's
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: been a very easy transition. I would say, you know,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: the harder part about it is like if I'm around
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: the team and like I really like everybody in the
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Phillies organization, Like there's honestly like no bad apples that
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: I've met. It's hard to criticize someone that you personally like,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: because I find that to be like the difficult part
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: of the job, not not even like the you know,
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: I like, I want the Phillies to do well for
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: the sake of like, you know, the people that I
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: know that are still Phillies fans in the city, but
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: I also want like I see like kind of what
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: goes goes in the work of the everyday base.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: So yeah, you see how the sausage. Yeah, you see
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: how that sausage is made, for sure, and you really
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: do have a great balance with it, which is, you know,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: one of the reasons I love following you and what
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: you what you are specifically doing from a reporting spective
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: and as a fan. So well, look, as we're moving
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: along here, I wanted to get into some pitching with you,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Destiny and specifically the good news coming from this Phillies
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: organization in terms of Andrew Painter is officially on the
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: mound down in clear Water. He's been on a pitch
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: limit for sure in Florida before he starts making his
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: way hopefully to the majors and to Philadelphia and just
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: a couple to a few months, that's the hope for sure.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: What do us fans need to keep seeing from Andrew Painter?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: You know where he is at right now where we're
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: going to be confident in him joining this Phillies team
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: later this season.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's all about health obviously, Like he
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: can't pitch if he's not healthy, and you know, we're
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: one started and so far, so good. But you know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: I don't I don't want to take too much from these,
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: you know, rehab. I don't know if he could even
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: call it rehab, just because he's technically not even like
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: on the injured list, but he's just slowly building up,
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: and the Phillies want to conserve his inning. So I
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: do think, you know that the interesting thing about like
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: the Andrew Payter conversation is that I don't think the
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: collective Phillies fan understands how good he can be, because
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: I do think when it comes to these top prospects,
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: we always have this you know, air of skepticism. But
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: you know, Andrew Painter, I believe he's like the seventh
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: rank prospect in baseball when he comes up like he
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: is going to make an impact. It's a little bit
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: of a strained situation too, just because he's a starting
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: pitcher and their biggest strength is the starting rotation and
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: also the fact that they're very good at keeping their
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: startup healthy. So you know, once this becomes more of
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: a prominent conversation, it's like, where is he going to go? Yeah,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: you know, I've read a Todd's Lucky. Talked to David
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Browski recently and he said that they don't see him
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: as a bullpen arm just because of they don't want
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: to change his role and they want to kind of
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: keep him healthy and on the same path. So I'm
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: very interested to see what happens. And you know, I
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: would say is like the collective, you know, Philly's view
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: where we've been very lucky as to the like amount
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: of starting pictures that have stayed healthy. So you never
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: really know what's going to come up in the next
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: couple of months. Maybe in June, like we're having a
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: conversation of like, oh, they're down two or three starting pictures.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: They need Andrew Paynter. Maybe Andrew Paynter's looked at more
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: as a luxury. Maybe the plan changes and they do
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: put him in the bullpen, like he knows. But it's
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: going to be it's going to be a very exciting storyline,
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: just because we've been anticipating this for the last two years.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: They really needed him a twenty three and then you
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: know his arm unfortunately gave out. But yep, yeah, it's
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: just it's something to look forward to.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Definitely, Yeah, I can't wait. I can't wait to see
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: what he's going to do when he gets up to
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the bigs and even going through the farm system too.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: As somebody who you know keeps tabs on what happens
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: in reading what happens in Lehigh Valley, can't wait to
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: see what Andrew Paynter is going to do. So to
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: close us out here destiny and sticking with the pitching here,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: I want to talk about Zach Wheeler. Zach Wheeler currently
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: as of us recording this again on April sixteenth here
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, has a four point zero seven ERA,
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: one win, one loss, not a great era by any
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: stretch of the imagination by Zach Wheeler standards here, I mean,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: Tywan Walker at this point has a better ra than Wheeler.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: At the moment, I'm wondering what should our level of
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: concern be for the ace pitcher on this Phillies team
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: right now? Like, are you concerned at all? Should we
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: be concerned as a fan base? What are your thoughts here?
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, I'm not concerned until I really see
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: something that allows me to be concerned. Like the thing
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: with me with April Break Baseball, It's just so weird,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: like the weather's bad, weird things happen, you know, bad
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: teams end up at the top of the standings, and
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: then a picture like Zack Wheeler has a four yra
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: But yeah, it just hasn't been like quite as sharp
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: as a start to the season as you would imagine
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: for Zack Wheeler just feels like he has those bad innings.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: And it's a story that we talk about with a
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: lot of starting pictures, like they're cruising through three talk
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: about this a lot with Aaron Nola, and then they
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: kind of just lose their command and then they have
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: a long inning and then that kind of ruins their line.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: But you know, the era, like I think back to
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: that start in Atlanta, Johann Ross catches that ball, and
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: the story is probably a lot different. Yeah, absolutely, so
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: I think with Zach Wheeler, it's just, you know, like
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: I said before with Andrew Paynter, like health is the
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: biggest thing. Like if he's making every start, then you
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: feel pretty good. Even if he's kind of not at
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: his best right now. It's hard to take for granted.
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: You know, Zack Wheeler's been so good, he's also been
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: so healthy, so like to kind of see him at
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: a point of season where is eras like that, Like,
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: it's a little bit strange, but I feel good that
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: Zac Wheeler is going to bounce back at some point.
