- 0:00Speaker 1: I spy with my electronic eye, illegal wagering. Hey, weren't
- 0:04Speaker 1: these cameras installed to keep America's enemies from blowing up
- 0:07Speaker 1: on homeland? Well, sir, how many times have you been
- 0:09Speaker 1: blown up since the cameras went in?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Zero times? Now I'm gonna go. Do you give the
- 0:17Speaker 2: money back?
- 0:30Speaker 1: All right? All right?
- 0:33Speaker 2: Four finger discount Ude, welcome two four finger discount. Where
- 0:52Speaker 2: this week we're going to be surveilling you all out there.
- 0:54Speaker 2: We're actually watching you. You're not just listening to us,
- 0:56Speaker 2: you're listening. We're watching. I'm dando you may even be watching.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Are we doing it with love? Though? With always? With love? Always?
- 1:03Speaker 3: We lead with love on the full finger of this gap.
- 1:06Speaker 2: And those of you out there listening right now who
- 1:08Speaker 2: have paid to hear this early, we love you e
- 1:10Speaker 2: them more. We've got a lot of love. But yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 2: if you're you get upper to your love, we could
- 1:16Speaker 2: we could do with it some more love here full
- 1:17Speaker 2: think of this gap? Sure man? Yeah, well love the better.
- 1:19Speaker 2: But yeah, to surveil with love an episode that guy
- 1:21Speaker 2: topped me off the air. I'm like, I didn't mind it,
- 1:25Speaker 2: not yesh for the whole episode. Shall we start with
- 1:26Speaker 2: the start, Well, let's start with the start. Yeah, let's
- 1:28Speaker 2: do that. You may recall deep Breath Wednesdays Tuesdays.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Indeed, in the history of the Simpsons, they once did
- 1:37Speaker 3: a thing called damn It. I just rewatched it, but
- 1:40Speaker 3: my memory is shot Simpsons Family Fun Time Variety or
- 1:44Speaker 3: something along those lines.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Showcase, Yes, it's spinoff Showcase. Yeah, but you.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Recall that it starts with a little bit of a
- 1:51Speaker 3: song and dance number and the whale On Smith and
- 1:52Speaker 3: dancers and all that kind of thing.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I want candy and all that. Yeah. I hated that
- 1:56Speaker 2: episode as a kid, like, what the hell is going on?
- 2:00Speaker 3: I appreciate that episode because it took the pis very
- 2:03Speaker 3: once I knew what they were doing. Yes, Indeed, the
- 2:06Speaker 3: opening credits of Surveilled with Latin, which is a lip
- 2:10Speaker 3: dub's the term we use back in the day of
- 2:12Speaker 3: Kesh's song TikTok.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah it's me.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's an unironic version of the Simpsons Family Fun Time Variety.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Did you find out why? You've read? Why they did
- 2:22Speaker 2: it though, Well, it was part of a whole Fox.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So that's one of those things where Fox is like
- 2:26Speaker 2: we ownly you have to do this. So I don't
- 2:27Speaker 2: think that the Simpsons w another way to go, Hey,
- 2:29Speaker 2: that's a cool shong, let's do it. But they still
- 2:31Speaker 2: have to do it. I know they still did it.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Though we all have to do terrible things we are
- 2:35Speaker 3: contractably obliged to do. This is part of my contract
- 2:37Speaker 3: with the full Finger disc and Network. You'd be amazed
- 2:39Speaker 3: that things I.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Have to do for Dan do the things you have
- 2:42Speaker 2: to take off, Yeah, the things I have to put on.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I mean, but Hank, you know, Hank Hill gives the
- 2:47Speaker 2: advice in our recent episode of Speaking to the Hill
- 2:49Speaker 2: exclusively on our Patreon where you know, when the boss
- 2:52Speaker 2: they think you just gotta you just gotta suck up.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You just gotta suck up and do it, he says.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And if you don't like, you to sing a song
- 2:57Speaker 2: to yourself and play along. Basically, it's just, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you do what the boss says. So the Simpsons Foxes
- 3:02Speaker 2: like do this, They're like.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that person made an appearance in this episode as well. Yeah, yes,
- 3:10Speaker 3: unsure about that one of my favorite moments. Maybe my
- 3:17Speaker 3: problem is and I think I've been on the record
- 3:19Speaker 3: on the four Finger Discount Network about this in the past.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Kesha really only has one speed. Every song is a
- 3:27Speaker 3: variation on TikTok.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It's such a time capture of that song. It's very
- 3:30Speaker 2: much a time capsule and.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Potential hot take coming in hot. The Simpsons as a
- 3:36Speaker 3: show is cool. I think it's got a lot of
- 3:39Speaker 3: great brand as a brand, yeah, but certainly as a show.
- 3:42Speaker 3: The Simpsons as a family, they're not cool. Homer, Marge, Lisa,
- 3:47Speaker 3: even bart you know all that El Barto shit not cool.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He's a little dork but was one of the popular
- 3:52Speaker 2: kids in his year level. But he still, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: is a bit of a dork. Yes, and acknowledge that.
- 3:58Speaker 2: In episodes like Summer of four foot two, Yeah, you'll
- 4:00Speaker 2: have actual cool. But Lisa's more cool because Lisa is
- 4:03Speaker 2: more true to herself. Who do you think he is?
- 4:05Speaker 2: Dennis the Menace.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Having Yes, them all get together and you know, lip
- 4:13Speaker 3: syn to TikTok. I know it's not what the Simpsons
- 4:15Speaker 3: wanted to do or anything like that, but I just
- 4:18Speaker 3: did not like this credit sequence.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But you know, it was quite memorable at the time.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I remember people were talking about it, like, Hey, the
- 4:25Speaker 2: Simpsons they're all singing TikTok, and is it called TikTok.
- 4:29Speaker 3: The song is called TikTok, Yeah, and it's actually spelled
- 4:31Speaker 3: the way that the popular app use.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah. So, I mean I didn't hate it because I
- 4:37Speaker 2: saw it as a necessary evil for them, because you know,
- 4:39Speaker 2: the boss said so. But still I'm just like, I
- 4:41Speaker 2: don't know, it's just felt like when it came on,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I was like, oh, it's this one. Remember when it
- 4:48Speaker 2: first happened. But apparently it's one of the only two
- 4:50Speaker 2: times where they don't actually say the Simpsons correct, Yeah,
- 4:52Speaker 2: because I must have been. I was like, a might
- 4:54Speaker 2: hit skip intro here, which I never do. Yeah, never
- 4:57Speaker 2: do it. No, never skip the intro. Now, we touched
- 4:59Speaker 2: on that with Matt Salmon. Remember we're talking about skipping
- 5:01Speaker 2: the intro, and my kids always sipped the intro and
- 5:03Speaker 2: I wish they didn' blahlah blah, that's why they got
- 5:04Speaker 2: to the couch gase and things like that. I watched the
- 5:06Speaker 2: recent special half of it last night. Extreme Maker of
- 5:09Speaker 2: a Homer edition finally came out, and the chot board
- 5:13Speaker 2: gag is I will not skip the intro because if
- 5:16Speaker 2: you had to skip the intro, they actually had a
- 5:18Speaker 2: really long couch gag of people just like physical art.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So I'm building the couch gag from just various shit
- 5:25Speaker 2: like homewares and things like that. So if you do
- 5:27Speaker 2: skip the intro for that part, you do miss a
- 5:29Speaker 2: really cool cauch gag. So don't don't get the intro,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but offer a story, right, Okay, But just just this
- 5:35Speaker 2: happened to me, I thought, I just have to tell
- 5:36Speaker 2: this story. There said nothing to do with the episode,
- 5:39Speaker 2: but I recently it's Eliot's birthday coming out, and I
- 5:41Speaker 2: recently brought him some football cards. A month ago, I
- 5:43Speaker 2: purchased these football cards, the whole set of the cards
- 5:45Speaker 2: that is collecting off eBay and I said it was
- 5:48Speaker 2: going to arrive two weeks later, and two weeks later
- 5:49Speaker 2: came by. I didn't come, and then it says delayed,
- 5:52Speaker 2: delayed on eBay. I was like, I'll wait a couple
- 5:55Speaker 2: of days. And it got to the twentieth. I'm supposed
- 5:56Speaker 2: to be here. I said it was going to arrive
- 5:58Speaker 2: on the twelfth, and because the twentieth and I was like,
- 6:00Speaker 2: they're not here, and he was like, weird. Something else
- 6:02Speaker 2: I posted that date didn't arrive either. I'll check into
- 6:04Speaker 2: it comes back a couple days later, Hey, I've got
- 6:07Speaker 2: the tracking number. It says it was delivered June first.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I was like, nothing was delivered June first. It definitely wasn't.
- 6:12Speaker 2: He goes, well, what it says here it was? And
- 6:14Speaker 2: we look it up and he's like, maybe go to
- 6:16Speaker 2: the post office and seever it's there. I go to
- 6:18Speaker 2: the post office this morning, but no, there's no parcel here.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Bye for your name. What's the tracking number? The look
- 6:24Speaker 2: up the tracking number. It's been sitting at my house
- 6:26Speaker 2: since June first, in a safe place. Do you know
- 6:29Speaker 2: where the post is now leaving parcels in a safe place?
- 6:32Speaker 2: You know where he left it? A padded bag full
- 6:35Speaker 2: of football cards.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna say, like on the footpath.
- 6:38Speaker 2: No, in the electrical box? What since when does the
- 6:43Speaker 2: posty put things in the electrical box? They've been it's
- 6:45Speaker 2: been in my electrical box for three weeks. Who the
- 6:48Speaker 2: fucker things to look in the electrical box for post
- 6:51Speaker 2: No one does, no one. And the guy in the
- 6:53Speaker 2: post office right goes is this Indian guy goes again
- 6:56Speaker 2: And I was like what And he goes, I tell
- 6:58Speaker 2: this guy, tell him he's a new guy. He posts
- 7:02Speaker 2: everything an electrical box nobody looks an electrical box.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I'm partly laughing at the situation. I'm partly laughing at
- 7:14Speaker 3: your wonderful which was part Zoidberg bone up.
- 7:18Speaker 2: It was just I was like, I don't want to I
- 7:19Speaker 2: don't want to fully commit to it. But basically it
- 7:21Speaker 2: was just, you know, he was like, I keep telling
- 7:23Speaker 2: this guy don't put an electrical box. He keeps putting
- 7:25Speaker 2: them in the electrical box. I was like, nobody looks
- 7:27Speaker 2: in the electrical box for parcels. What is going on?
- 7:31Speaker 3: This fellow clearly has the best intention. He wants to
- 7:33Speaker 3: keep your shit safe.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Because I thinks probably thinks of someone sees and they
- 7:35Speaker 2: might steal it. Correct, So at least leave a note
- 7:37Speaker 2: in the letterbox chiculate.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Don't have those little cars that they say yeah right
- 7:44Speaker 3: in electrical box.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So if I didn't, if I didn't follow it up,
- 7:46Speaker 2: it would just been sitting in the electrical box until
- 7:47Speaker 2: we had a blackout. We're oh, he's Elliot's birthday presents
- 7:50Speaker 2: from six years ago, at which.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Point, you know, father and sna restraant. You didn't give
- 7:55Speaker 3: me those footy cards? Dad, you promise me, is that
- 8:00Speaker 3: or not?
- 8:00Speaker 2: That's a little weird. Yeah, it's a little weird. So
- 8:03Speaker 2: if you ever have a parcel missing guys out there
- 8:05Speaker 2: watching or listening and you can't find it and it
- 8:07Speaker 2: says has been delivered, to check your electrical box. Never
- 8:11Speaker 2: happened to me before, Wise, wise lesson, but continue. No,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I was just about to say that when I was
- 8:19Speaker 2: doing my research for this episode last night work, by
- 8:22Speaker 2: which I mean watching to surveyor We'd Love. I was
- 8:25Speaker 2: watching on Disney Plus and came up Extreme Makeup a
- 8:27Speaker 2: Home edition though texted Dan I said, hey, we should
- 8:30Speaker 2: probably do an episode of this that I'm watching it
- 8:32Speaker 2: right now.
- 8:32Speaker 3: And then our pale stone Cutter, rates Bes is going
- 8:36Speaker 3: to get two shout outs today because she'll get named
- 8:39Speaker 3: when we do the Stonecutters. But also she put up
- 8:42Speaker 3: on the Facebook group saying, hey Brendon, Nando, Guy Davis,
- 8:46Speaker 3: have you checked this out yet? And we're like, oh,
- 8:48Speaker 3: maybe we should and we probably will. I think we
- 8:50Speaker 3: should do so, Oh we definitely will.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah. I looked for it last week because I went
- 8:54Speaker 2: to The Simpsons went to exclusives and it wasn't in there,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, maybe we're getting it late.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Maybe it's not there didn't put it in the exclusive section.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It's just its own random thing that's Understey. Plus, if
- 9:03Speaker 2: you don't search for or find it, you don't know
- 9:05Speaker 2: it's there.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Yeah, they're kind of dropping the ball in some ways.
- 9:08Speaker 3: I mean it's Disney. You mean Disney, Yeah, yeah, I
- 9:11Speaker 3: mean just throwing ship out there. Well yeah, one of
- 9:14Speaker 3: my favorite shows.
- 9:15Speaker 2: The Bear. Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:17Speaker 3: But in between season four and the upcoming season Vibe.
- 9:20Speaker 2: They had a little we found this thing was when
- 9:23Speaker 2: did this come out? What is this? Yeah?
- 9:24Speaker 3: They did a special standalone episode called Gary It's in
- 9:27Speaker 3: the past, right, Yeah. I watched it, Yeah, and it's
- 9:30Speaker 3: I'd yet to see it. I just knew what it did.
- 9:34Speaker 3: But yeah, it's got my man, well my dudes, Evan
- 9:38Speaker 3: mass Backrack, Hello Influences and John Berthorpe just a yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 3: an episode Punisher, right, yeah, the Punisher.
- 9:44Speaker 2: With those guys Shane from Walking Dead, I want to
- 9:46Speaker 2: Shame from Walking Dead.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yeah, a bunch of other stuff. Cool guy in ones.
- 9:50Speaker 2: He was really nice.
- 9:51Speaker 3: He called isn't he counting? He's the brother, isn't he is?
- 9:54Speaker 3: With the most glorious head of hair? But I interviewed
- 9:58Speaker 3: him and he was talking about all these people he
- 9:59Speaker 3: worked with, and I mean he was no slats by
- 10:02Speaker 3: this dage, but yeah, these are big names he was
- 10:04Speaker 3: talking about, and he was referred to them as mister
- 10:06Speaker 3: like like yeah, and when I worked with mister.
- 10:08Speaker 2: De Niro, I was like, this is really nice. This
- 10:10Speaker 2: guy's got to Yeah, showing the props. Good for him.
- 10:13Speaker 3: But yeah, so they're not hiding these things, but they
- 10:16Speaker 3: are not making they're sort of making them a little
- 10:18Speaker 3: difficult to find.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, enough.
- 10:21Speaker 3: About that to surveyor with love. I liked the central
- 10:25Speaker 3: idea of this because I liked I like stories about surveillance.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Who's doing the man? Yeah, who's doing the watching? And
- 10:32Speaker 2: what are we watching for? And that's the big point.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Especially what were watching for? Because one of my notes
- 10:37Speaker 3: in here is this, Wow, Ned can fuck off because yeah,
- 10:42Speaker 3: I mean initially they sort of set up this surveillance
- 10:46Speaker 3: system to anti terrorism, yeah, to guard against illegal activity.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Ned takes it and runs with it, and he decides
- 10:52Speaker 3: to monitor what he thinks.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Is immoral, his idea of a paradise.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, just yeah, made me go fuck.
- 11:01Speaker 2: But yeah, it's throwing the question out there of how
- 11:04Speaker 2: much survands is too much? The valance to the point
- 11:06Speaker 2: where your freedoms are being impeded.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and when do you reach the point that's
- 11:11Speaker 3: like that you will stop doing stuff of your own accord? Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 3: because when it just becomes sort of second nasue, like well,
- 11:18Speaker 3: I'm just going to be watched, you know, even when
- 11:20Speaker 3: you're in a situation where you know no one is watching,
- 11:23Speaker 3: but you become so indoctrinated to yeah, not step out
- 11:27Speaker 3: of line, that you'll just be a good little citizen.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean I find that really really interesting. And
- 11:33Speaker 2: and they tackled it. They take it a well here
- 11:36Speaker 2: they did.
- 11:37Speaker 3: They about it in a very roundabout way, as they
- 11:40Speaker 3: tend to do on the sentence.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I just find the story of oh we've had a
- 11:43Speaker 2: blind spot. Quick, everyone from tow let's go and do
- 11:45Speaker 2: some illegal shit in the backyard. It's like, you guys
- 11:47Speaker 2: weren't doing this before, so why are you doing it? Well,
- 11:50Speaker 2: that's the thing.
- 11:50Speaker 3: But something I've written down here is that, yeah, suppression
- 11:54Speaker 3: creates compression. I think they actually use the term compression
- 11:57Speaker 3: in there as well. But I mean, you te something
- 11:59Speaker 3: down line long enough, yeah, eventually there's going to have
- 12:02Speaker 3: to be some kind of release of pressure. And yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 3: it may manifest itself and is like, yeah, I never did,
- 12:08Speaker 3: Craig before you're telling me I can't smoke cigarettes. We've
- 12:13Speaker 3: been give him the opportunity to have to run a
- 12:15Speaker 3: little wild. I might you, yeah, I might take that
- 12:18Speaker 3: inch and run a mile.
- 12:19Speaker 2: If you're in a long term relationship when you break
- 12:21Speaker 2: up and all of sudden it's like, I'm gonna run wild. Well, yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 2: absolutely nothing. Luise, You're lovely certainly. But so I thought
- 12:32Speaker 2: this was closer to because I ranted. I believe it was.
- 12:35Speaker 2: The last twenty one episode video says twenty one squat
- 12:37Speaker 2: in the Whale where Flanners doesn't feel like Flanners anymore.
- 12:40Speaker 2: This is closer to the Flanders that we know. But
- 12:43Speaker 2: it's more it's in the middle, because this is the
- 12:46Speaker 2: as bad as closest to the Flanners of Oh we're
- 12:47Speaker 2: going to get now, because he's just not the same
- 12:49Speaker 2: person anymore. No, I don't think this doesn't feel to
- 12:54Speaker 2: me like the Flander as well.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Now.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I mean, I defer to your knowledge when it comes
- 12:58Speaker 3: to the Simpsons, and it's wonderful cavil to characters. I
- 13:01Speaker 3: tend to view Flanders as well. Certainly the early the
- 13:05Speaker 3: early version of Flanders as like almost like the best
- 13:08Speaker 3: version of Christianity, even though he is incredibly pious and
- 13:12Speaker 3: you know, easy to make fun of, but he's generally
- 13:15Speaker 3: very forgiving and he's generally very giving as well.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Tries to see the best of the situation. And I
- 13:21Speaker 2: don't think he really he doesn't try to impose his
- 13:25Speaker 2: world beyond anybody else. He tries to set an example.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I think I may be wrong. There were times where
- 13:31Speaker 2: he tried to impose but nothing. But if someone said no,
- 13:34Speaker 2: it's saying that don his face, he just would give up.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Sure wouldn't keep pushing and pushing and pushing. But here
- 13:39Speaker 2: it feels like he's like, I'm right, I know everyone
- 13:42Speaker 2: needs I'm going to keep doing it.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's why it was funny when he would
- 13:46Speaker 3: have breaks, you know, I mean when Hurricane Eddy, Hurricane
- 13:49Speaker 3: Netty or something like that, or that was the first
- 13:52Speaker 3: time he properly broke, yeah, or it was, Or it's
- 13:54Speaker 3: funny when you see that his parents are freaky bick nicks.
- 13:57Speaker 2: That's just Hurricane Eddy. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I think I
- 14:00Speaker 2: think all that's very very good. Whereas we were talking,
- 14:05Speaker 2: we were just talking before we started recording about episodes
- 14:08Speaker 2: this season that we didn't like, and there was the
- 14:10Speaker 2: greatest story of add where that's just gonna be strigger
- 14:13Speaker 2: from the record that episode, I think so, but not
- 14:15Speaker 2: after we talk about it this way, yeah, where you
- 14:18Speaker 2: know he's very much again he was pushing it. Yeah
- 14:21Speaker 2: again Yeah, and two very similar stories. Really not really
- 14:27Speaker 2: he's not.
- 14:28Speaker 3: He's not pushing quite as hard. You get the feeling
- 14:30Speaker 3: in that episode. He's very much like, let me show
- 14:33Speaker 3: you the way. You come to the Holy Land with me,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and you'll see you'll see what I see, You'll see
- 14:38Speaker 3: the world through my eyes, and you'll you know, you'll
- 14:40Speaker 3: come aroundo my way of thinking. Whereas in this way
- 14:42Speaker 3: he's really just sort of you know, he's been given
- 14:45Speaker 3: a little bit of power and cracking the worp, and
- 14:46Speaker 3: you don't see any consequences of that either. I mean,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I think they very very quickly then go oh wow,
- 14:52Speaker 3: I got a little ahead of myself there, you know,
- 14:55Speaker 3: I got full of myself.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I think he needed a little more pushback and we
- 14:58Speaker 3: need a little more payback as a result for him
- 15:00Speaker 3: going as wild as he did. I think this would
- 15:04Speaker 3: have suited someone Walker, Helen Lovejoy quite possibly.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the all town Gossiper. Yeah, yeah, have the.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Love Joy sort of working in collaboration and you know
- 15:13Speaker 3: Rever love Jos Wow, No, sorry, why am I giving
- 15:16Speaker 3: him that voice?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Now?
- 15:18Speaker 3: I know what it's like to No, I know what
- 15:19Speaker 3: it's like to be God or something like that. I
- 15:21Speaker 3: mean'd Midley that works for Ned as well.
- 15:23Speaker 2: But I just feels like Flanners is the only one
- 15:26Speaker 2: in there doing it. No one else is doing It's
- 15:28Speaker 2: just Flanders. Yeah, what does he go home? Is he
- 15:31Speaker 2: wa washing his skill? Like? What's going on? Yeah? What
- 15:33Speaker 2: happened to the other eight people that you brought in?
- 15:34Speaker 3: I mean, we know why Marge left.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Ye, van Houten's were there, and there's a few others. Yeah,
- 15:40Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I think I just feel like there was room to
- 15:43Speaker 3: do more.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And I do think iranted last week about characters just
- 15:47Speaker 2: being ruined. They've completely ruined Cletus and Brandean for me,
- 15:52Speaker 2: oh yeah, but that they've crossed the line now between
- 15:55Speaker 2: country bumpkins and just downright monsters. But they're just horrible people.
- 16:00Speaker 2: He's talking Clearic's talking about how he has sex with animals,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and brand Dean's drinking while pregnant, and it's like, you
- 16:07Speaker 2: didn't go you didn't cross those lines twenty years or
- 16:10Speaker 2: fifteen years ago. Now it's just it's not funny, it's
- 16:13Speaker 2: it's uncomfortable. I don't I Mike, this is OK. This
- 16:16Speaker 2: is a kid show. You know, this is still a
- 16:18Speaker 2: kids show. Right, you should not be making jokes about
- 16:20Speaker 2: having sex with animals. You can, you can, I know
- 16:22Speaker 2: people will say, oh, you know you had the tromaclue
- 16:25Speaker 2: of fish. Then it was implied that's the h didn't
- 16:27Speaker 2: outright comme out and say I have sex with fish.
- 16:30Speaker 2: It's in clearness here says I have sex with animals.
- 16:33Speaker 2: It's like, who thought that was funny? I don't know,
- 16:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I mean, the thing that I hate most when it
- 16:42Speaker 3: comes to art, but particularly comedy, is obviousness.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's like it shows a disrespect for your
- 16:52Speaker 3: audience and a lack of trust in your audience. But
- 16:55Speaker 3: you know they won't get the joke, so we were
- 16:58Speaker 3: not even going to make a joke. We'll just say
- 17:00Speaker 3: stuff for what we think is funny. But it's really
- 17:03Speaker 3: sort of more for shock value or anything else.
- 17:05Speaker 2: It's not so much that was a really clever joke
- 17:07Speaker 2: as opposed.
- 17:08Speaker 3: To can you believe that he said that that's the lowest.
- 17:13Speaker 2: That's the fucking lowest. So yeah, don't do it. You're
- 17:17Speaker 2: better than this. Since I know I hate to be
- 17:19Speaker 2: the person who says that there's nothing worse.
- 17:21Speaker 5: Than a successful franchise you can do bid in this especially,
- 17:28Speaker 5: we're just like, dude, way better than you number one
- 17:31Speaker 5: showing Disney Classy.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But another character that I feel has just been just
- 17:36Speaker 2: newted now to the point we eyes of you can't
- 17:40Speaker 2: take him seriously, and no one on the show should
- 17:42Speaker 2: take him seriously anymore. It's Chalmers. So at this event,
- 17:47Speaker 2: he's walking like a two to two and stuff like that,
- 17:50Speaker 2: walking around baby clothes or something like this isn't this
- 17:53Speaker 2: isn't normally me, or this isn't the usual me or something.
- 17:55Speaker 2: And it's like the teachers are there as well, so
- 17:58Speaker 2: he's work colleagues are seeing him behave this way, the
- 18:01Speaker 2: kids of the of the town have seen him behave
- 18:03Speaker 2: this way. How they ever supposed to take him seriously
- 18:05Speaker 2: as the superintendent charmers anymore. It's just it's for this,
- 18:08Speaker 2: for the sake of this most forgettable cheap gag. They've
- 18:12Speaker 2: ruined all the integrity for the sake of a throwaway
- 18:15Speaker 2: gag that no one remembers. Yeah, and I know we
- 18:18Speaker 2: always say, oh, look at a revert to status quo.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It's like we always revert to zero at the end
- 18:21Speaker 2: of every end. But don't no, I know, I know,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and we say that, right, it reverse the status quo.
- 18:27Speaker 2: But there's nothing in the story here that has him
- 18:29Speaker 2: revert to status quo. And everyone go, let's just say
- 18:32Speaker 2: the boys are mocking him, say haha in your dress,
- 18:34Speaker 2: and he does something, it's like, oh, now they fear
- 18:36Speaker 2: him again. It's like, no, next week they're going to
- 18:37Speaker 2: be back to being you know, the big superintendent, Charmers
- 18:40Speaker 2: and Skinner scared of him. Why would you be scared
- 18:41Speaker 2: of this guy?
- 18:43Speaker 3: I don't know, man, this was it. We started thinking
- 18:46Speaker 3: this episode wasn't bad. We might be to wed our words.
- 18:49Speaker 2: No, it wasn't too bad. But yeah, the idea of
- 18:51Speaker 2: how much the balance is too much? The balance to
- 18:53Speaker 2: the point that it, like I said, it impedes your
- 18:56Speaker 2: freedoms and world rights as a human.
- 18:58Speaker 3: That's the thing I mean, I thought. I hear a
- 19:01Speaker 3: lot of anecdotal evidence these days. I'm sorry to get
- 19:03Speaker 3: all sort of welcome to current affair or whatever. But
- 19:06Speaker 3: there's a lot of antidotal evidence that young people, you know, teenagers,
- 19:11Speaker 3: people in their twenties or whatever, just aren't going out
- 19:14Speaker 3: and doing as much. They're not even dancing as much
- 19:17Speaker 3: because they don't want to be recorded, they don't want
- 19:19Speaker 3: to be put online, they don't want to be roasted,
- 19:21Speaker 3: they don't want to be sort of made the meme
- 19:22Speaker 3: of the day. You know, you do one wrong dance
- 19:24Speaker 3: step where you pull a weird face on the dance words,
- 19:26Speaker 3: you're like getting down or whatever, and all of a sudden,
- 19:29Speaker 3: it's like, you know, check out.
- 19:30Speaker 2: This dipshit and it goes worthwhile.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, so people are just yea not doing it, and
- 19:36Speaker 3: they're having their social skills stunted as a result. I'm
- 19:38Speaker 3: sorry I'm being waving the fist of the cloud here.
- 19:41Speaker 2: But I do find you are less inclined to take
- 19:43Speaker 2: a chance. Oh absolutely and be yourself because you're in
- 19:46Speaker 2: fear of Oh it's not just these people in the
- 19:48Speaker 2: room board see it. It's everyone around the world will
- 19:50Speaker 2: see it, who never meet will see it. And I'll
- 19:52Speaker 2: be mocked forever, and I'll be known as that guy.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to have a very deleterious effect on
- 19:57Speaker 3: your mental health.
- 19:58Speaker 2: It's like the guy, I know, the one. Have you
- 20:00Speaker 2: seen the turndown for What? Wedding video where the guy
- 20:04Speaker 2: thinks they're going to play turned down for What? And
- 20:05Speaker 2: then it cuts to dancing Queen? Have you seen that? Okay,
- 20:08Speaker 2: I'm not showing you now, but this guy here is
- 20:10Speaker 2: like apparently this is all his known form and his friends.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Now he's just not forever. I mean, it's one of
- 20:14Speaker 2: the funniest videos you ever see. Have you not seen it? Okay? Case,
- 20:18Speaker 2: I know you love turned Down for What? Sure do
- 20:20Speaker 2: for What? Dancing Queen? It's pretty funny. I feel bad
- 20:25Speaker 2: for laughing at the guy, but watch this. Don't think
- 20:31Speaker 2: he should be ragged on that.
- 20:32Speaker 3: I don't think that that dude's awesome.
- 20:43Speaker 2: No one should be ragging on that, right, Oh man,
- 20:49Speaker 2: I mean that was a great DJ moment, what he
- 20:53Speaker 2: was in the zone? That guy like everyone's in on
- 20:56Speaker 2: the joke though, I mean, yeah, but he'll forever be
- 20:58Speaker 2: that guy, you know, sure, Yeah, but I think there's.
- 21:01Speaker 3: A difference between that and yeah, just just being afraid to.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Make a fool of yourself.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Because yeah, that's part of being human. It's an intrinsic
- 21:10Speaker 3: part of being human.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Anyway, sorry, see.
- 21:12Speaker 2: A video on social media once, I think it was
- 21:14Speaker 2: Twitter where some guy was doing some weird dance or
- 21:16Speaker 2: something on like his fire escape with like his kids,
- 21:19Speaker 2: and they filmed it and I were like, look at
- 21:21Speaker 2: this this dad's dad moves or whatever, and the kids
- 21:23Speaker 2: are having a great time, and he he seemed look
- 21:25Speaker 2: at the camera. He sort of like stops and he
- 21:27Speaker 2: takes the kids inside, and it's like, this guy's having
- 21:28Speaker 2: a moment with his kids. Yeah, and you're fucking These
- 21:30Speaker 2: teenagers laughed at him for it, and he went back
- 21:32Speaker 2: inside and they put it on social media and all
- 21:34Speaker 2: these people are like, oh yeah, check out his movies.
- 21:35Speaker 2: It's like but people did turn on the saying, hey,
- 21:37Speaker 2: this guy's having a moment with his children. How about
- 21:39Speaker 2: you guys just fuck off? Yeah? Are you were?
- 21:41Speaker 3: The term panopticon, you know, it is a prison where
- 21:44Speaker 3: everyone can see each other, okay, and that's what stops
- 21:48Speaker 3: you from breaking the rules. So we have basically created
- 21:50Speaker 3: our own panopticon.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it sucks. Yeah, it sucks, man, I hate it.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Here My favorite do you have any favorite moments in
- 21:59Speaker 2: the episode. I had one or two, and one of
- 22:01Speaker 2: them was yeah, sure short his back Benby and again
- 22:07Speaker 2: again we haven't found out who she who's her father yet,
- 22:11Speaker 2: it's a character on the show.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Okay, cool, I just like that mistaken Jim over Kearney.
- 22:21Speaker 3: But also what I wrote was like, uh, Ned, make
- 22:23Speaker 3: it out is not illegal.
- 22:25Speaker 2: No, that's the thing.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I mean, maybe it is in the States, maybe in
- 22:28Speaker 3: certain in certain sections.
- 22:30Speaker 2: What what I don't understand is why did no one
- 22:33Speaker 2: during this episode say hey, this guy is like why
- 22:36Speaker 2: is this guy in charge? Yes, he's not the police,
- 22:39Speaker 2: and I know it's like the polices that are. It's
- 22:41Speaker 2: too half. It's like, couldn't you at least say, hey,
- 22:43Speaker 2: you re placed this guy, or.
- 22:45Speaker 3: You know, he's our citizen deputy. Have a little swearing
- 22:47Speaker 3: in seramon or something like that.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That would be really.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Interesting for Ned have power and go to his head
- 22:54Speaker 3: and then have him feel conflicted and citizen talment and
- 22:57Speaker 3: everyone's like we have.
- 22:58Speaker 2: To buy by flat. Look why what does he have?
- 23:01Speaker 2: It's Ned Flanders. Yeah, like you say, don't do that,
- 23:04Speaker 2: don't do that. It's like, what are you going to
- 23:05Speaker 2: do to stop me? Yeah? I'm not breaking the law.
- 23:07Speaker 2: It actually makes no sense. This plot makes no sense.
- 23:10Speaker 2: That's the thing.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I was hoping that Bart would sort of have a
- 23:11Speaker 3: bit of a hero jeae and he sort of did
- 23:13Speaker 3: the same degree where he's you know, where he's showing
- 23:15Speaker 3: his But I'm like, good, that's what you should do.
- 23:17Speaker 2: The man I liked you were touching on earlier. I
- 23:22Speaker 2: didn't mind that can be willing by woman of Color.
- 23:26Speaker 2: That felt free this episode air. By the way, it's
- 23:29Speaker 2: twenty ten.
- 23:30Speaker 3: That feels incredibly like early that's not like the pre
- 23:35Speaker 3: woke era. Yeah, and this feels like peak woke.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's normally the Simpsons are sort of on that side.
- 23:41Speaker 2: To see them mocking me this this crowd, I was like,
- 23:44Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 23:45Speaker 3: It was very twenty twenty six, So just that, yeah, color,
- 23:50Speaker 3: And I thought the acronym gag was pretty funny. One
- 23:52Speaker 3: was that that was when Clancy first gets his Oh
- 23:56Speaker 3: yeah the four a's and that yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Really only remedy to remember P, B and J. But
- 24:02Speaker 2: remember that remember ABC, but also a four a's. It
- 24:06Speaker 2: is always advocate. But I didn't mind the gay bar symest.
- 24:11Speaker 2: That was actually pretty just a gay bar. Next question.
- 24:19Speaker 2: You there eating the paste trivia time. Hit me with
- 24:22Speaker 2: your first question.
- 24:24Speaker 3: I only have two one of the one of THEO
- 24:27Speaker 3: is the two bad questions. Okay, that's uh. According to Lisa,
- 24:30Speaker 3: what is spaz shortfall?
- 24:33Speaker 2: So I'm assuming this is the correct term. It's I
- 24:35Speaker 2: guess spastic something. It's a spectic to plegic. That's the plegic. Okay,
- 24:40Speaker 2: never use the term spastic. I've said the word, but
- 24:42Speaker 2: don't use it in a dry term. Don't do it.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I feel like as a society we've all come to
- 24:47Speaker 2: accept you don't say that word. But it was the
- 24:49Speaker 2: thing where you go w a spaz and it's like
- 24:51Speaker 2: we probably shouldn't be saying. It's not the R word
- 24:53Speaker 2: as well, don't say the R word. It's just not nice.
- 24:55Speaker 2: It's not a good word. My first question for you
- 24:57Speaker 2: is what was Milhouse struggling to shoes from at the cafeteria.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Well, it was like jelly desserts and he liked the
- 25:05Speaker 3: yellow one because he thought it was either lemon or pineapple. Correct,
- 25:09Speaker 3: but yeah, that was what they couldn't it jealous couldn't
- 25:12Speaker 3: decided on the je Two bad question for him, Moe
- 25:18Speaker 3: is reading a magazine in bed. What is the title
- 25:20Speaker 3: of that Magan who was on the cover. Oh I
- 25:22Speaker 3: didn't even look at that. Actually, okay, because what's his name?
- 25:26Speaker 3: It's Eddie Izzard's carried it. By the way, we should
- 25:28Speaker 3: give Eddie their full name Eddie now either goes by Eddie,
- 25:31Speaker 3: Susie Izzard or Susie Edzie. Eddie Izzard Izzard has fully
- 25:38Speaker 3: transitioned or goes by they them or he her now.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But look wicked Wiki I'm talking about right now. Born
- 25:46Speaker 2: Edward John Izzard is a British out comedian, actor and activist.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Her comedic style takes so it's yeah, must have transitioned then,
- 25:52Speaker 2: or at least wants to be known as female.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, because yeah, Iszard identifies as a woman.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I don't know if it's the right term, but is
- 26:02Speaker 3: a cross dressed in their act or her act for
- 26:05Speaker 3: a very long time back when she identified as male.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I think it's always been part of their life or
- 26:11Speaker 3: part of her life. Sorry, folks, I'm just navigating this
- 26:14Speaker 3: new space. But yeah, when Isaid's character is putting in
- 26:19Speaker 3: new cameras everywhere and they install one in Moe's apartment,
- 26:23Speaker 3: is on his bed, he is reading ugly reader and
- 26:28Speaker 3: who's on the cover a till of the hunt.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Really, I don't like what he said. That's pretty faint.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It is funny. The thing is that I feel that
- 26:35Speaker 2: Mo has just become a character that we need someone
- 26:37Speaker 2: to be says a one liner, like something weird or
- 26:41Speaker 2: something gross. It's just throwing Mo. Yeah. See, I'm gonna
- 26:44Speaker 2: just randomly the appear. I know this was his house,
- 26:46Speaker 2: but he's just become the characters pops up for a
- 26:48Speaker 2: quick singer.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Your rant last week was basically about they're not writing
- 26:52Speaker 3: jokes for characters anymore.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Now they're running jakes and assigning them to characters. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:57Speaker 2: that feels.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Kind of the case increasingly for me as well.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I mean I always agree with you, Honor, but yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 3: it's becoming more and more obvious, it seems. Yeah, this
- 27:06Speaker 3: used to be driven by characters and need write jokes
- 27:08Speaker 3: for those characters. Now it's like, let's just joke joke,
- 27:10Speaker 3: jog joke.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Joke, and to see who we need who haven't got
- 27:12Speaker 2: in the episode yet, there's not much. Remember, Lenny was
- 27:14Speaker 2: working at the Teller that the power company last night, Like,
- 27:17Speaker 2: why is Lenny working at what's going on John On Here,
- 27:20Speaker 2: but he played Nigel Baker Butcher, which I actually didn't mind.
- 27:24Speaker 2: The twist at the end where it was all designed
- 27:25Speaker 2: to be a reality show for England. Yeah, I was like,
- 27:28Speaker 2: I'll take that. It's something I did.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Except I'm kind of a simp for the former the
- 27:34Speaker 3: artist formally known as Prince Charles.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Now now he's King jar. I always like the guy
- 27:39Speaker 2: I've never had any I'd be very indifferent to him.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Look, I won't say I had like a wonderful decorative
- 27:45Speaker 3: play too. Was like, oh the Prince, but I don't know.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I always thought he'd got a bit of a raw
- 27:49Speaker 3: deal in some ways. So for him to be made
- 27:52Speaker 3: the English rab Wigham, I was like, man, he started,
- 27:57Speaker 3: you started off poorly with TikTok, and you ended badly
- 27:59Speaker 3: with the joking as the King.
- 28:00Speaker 2: You came with the King. I don't know, miss, I
- 28:02Speaker 2: don't think anyone who's born to a royal family has
- 28:04Speaker 2: ever been given a raw deal. Sir. Maybe on social media.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I don't think he cares what we sound social media.
- 28:12Speaker 2: We have peasants to him correct in news.
- 28:19Speaker 3: It'll make Danda sort of go oh god, silver spoon
- 28:21Speaker 3: guy here, But Prince Charles and.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I went to the same school, not at the same time,
- 28:26Speaker 2: not at the same time. But despite how ancient and
- 28:29Speaker 2: I look, I am not Prince char I know it
- 28:32Speaker 2: was for like one one term or he couldn't get it,
- 28:38Speaker 2: couldn't do it a whole year like I did. Was
- 28:40Speaker 2: that just because they had to meet a quota for
- 28:41Speaker 2: Australia or something. I'm not sure. Maybe it was like
- 28:44Speaker 2: a British spy of some kind, possibly, who knows. But
- 28:47Speaker 2: we actually haven't touched on the subplot of this one,
- 28:50Speaker 2: which was ship. Yeah, there's a reason. It's pointless, there's
- 28:53Speaker 2: a reason. Why Why was it there in twenty ten?
- 28:57Speaker 2: Are we still doing this that blondes are still you
- 29:00Speaker 2: It's like legally blonde was a whole ten years before
- 29:05Speaker 2: they made a sequel and everything. Yeah, at least it
- 29:07Speaker 2: can't be in the debate class because she's dumb. She's
- 29:11Speaker 2: because that other debate of Megan is a bitch. And
- 29:14Speaker 2: there's a light at the end where she she says
- 29:16Speaker 2: something the ones of you're not you know, applauding me
- 29:19Speaker 2: because of my because of the content of what I'm saying.
- 29:22Speaker 2: It's the color of my hand I'm like, I think
- 29:24Speaker 2: you think you're trying to push a message here, and
- 29:26Speaker 2: you've got you've got some sort of powerful message behind
- 29:29Speaker 2: what you're saying, But it doesn't make sense, especially in
- 29:31Speaker 2: twenty ten. No, not at all. I haven't heard anyone
- 29:34Speaker 2: make a blonde joke in so long. No, I just haven't. No,
- 29:40Speaker 2: that's the who makes blonde jokes anymore. Not really, No,
- 29:43Speaker 2: I mean there's who runs the world blondes.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I I'm gonna make a dumb blond joke. I'll probably
- 29:48Speaker 3: make it about the Paul Brothers. Yeah, even the still Yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 3: and even then they're doing it right. Yeah, they got
- 29:55Speaker 3: they got King Charles money.
- 29:56Speaker 2: They made more money in that three seconds what I've
- 29:59Speaker 2: made in my whole life. My next tributa question for
- 30:04Speaker 2: you will be and Dan, it's a brunette. What is
- 30:07Speaker 2: the name of the fellow debtour who always mocks Lisa Mes? Meghan? Yeah? Yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 2: I didn't like Meghan? Your next question? That's all I got.
- 30:18Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I mean, well, I could we could talk
- 30:20Speaker 3: about akroms. I mean pep and jay stands for what.
- 30:22Speaker 2: That's usually peanut, butter and jelly.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Usually yes, in this case, I forgot what the pe
- 30:26Speaker 3: stands for. It's be judgmental, but also jotted.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Oh that's right, Yes, we'll get to it. That I've
- 30:32Speaker 2: got it my notes. My final question for you, then,
- 30:33Speaker 2: is where is the bowling alley that has the good
- 30:36Speaker 2: mac and cheese. It's Ogdenville, right, Ogdenville. Yes, that's right.
- 30:40Speaker 2: I didn't I didn't mind the setup to getting to
- 30:43Speaker 2: the surveillance. I was like, it's quick, it's simple, we
- 30:46Speaker 2: get there, correct. I mean.
- 30:49Speaker 3: That felt like old school Simpsons to me. The fact
- 30:51Speaker 3: that you'd be sitting in like a train station or something.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's they got really.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Good mac and cheese, and that character built old school
- 30:58Speaker 3: Simpsons to me. Maybe I'm just getting old. Yeah, maybe
- 31:01Speaker 3: I thought that was funny. But one of the break
- 31:03Speaker 3: crumbs on the top, well that's right. I mean, if
- 31:05Speaker 3: you want to make good mac and cheese, it's got
- 31:07Speaker 3: our break CRuMs on top.
- 31:08Speaker 2: By the way, what are the odds? Just last week
- 31:10Speaker 2: we did March versus the Monobail and was one of
- 31:13Speaker 2: the mona oils Odenville. And guess what we're doing on
- 31:15Speaker 2: the movie guide. We're recording this week The Truman Show,
- 31:19Speaker 2: which is a lot of surveillance and cameras.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Wow, it's like it's all connected by the way, I
- 31:27Speaker 3: know you like a good nitpick. After the bag with
- 31:31Speaker 3: the platonium in it gets blown up at the train
- 31:35Speaker 3: station or whatever.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Does it get Well, there's that big explosion of course. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 2: that's what there wasn't Women of Ken Was it Homer
- 31:43Speaker 2: like going to Ogdenville? How did he get home? Yeah? Looking,
- 31:51Speaker 2: this is your problem with that that there's a lot
- 31:53Speaker 2: of things in not just modern Simpsons, in tweet, in
- 31:57Speaker 2: modern life, just in just in tips like I went
- 31:59Speaker 2: and saw a toy story if and I won't I
- 32:00Speaker 2: won't spoil I won't tell you anything, but a lot
- 32:02Speaker 2: of things going, why do you just do this? This
- 32:04Speaker 2: fixes the whole story. Why why are they doing this
- 32:08Speaker 2: where they could just be doing this? And it was
- 32:09Speaker 2: like because the kids Pixar used to be better And
- 32:15Speaker 2: he's looking at Dad like you're ruining my child. No,
- 32:18Speaker 2: I was sticking in my head. But I used to say
- 32:19Speaker 2: I was whispering to Nicola. But I remember thinking that
- 32:21Speaker 2: watching the movie. When Nicholas said it's just a kids movie,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I was like, you know what, I never used to
- 32:25Speaker 2: think when I was watching a Pixar movie. This is
- 32:26Speaker 2: just a kids movie.
- 32:27Speaker 3: No no, no, no no. Check out the movie on
- 32:30Speaker 3: with Martlin Davis where we did Toy Story one, the
- 32:32Speaker 3: original maybe best recently and we spent ages talking about,
- 32:39Speaker 3: you know, the attention to detail the picts are made,
- 32:42Speaker 3: and not just in terms of their visual setup.
- 32:45Speaker 2: But also story. They made their stories type, they made
- 32:48Speaker 2: them like a submarine. Al Right, is time for some
- 33:01Speaker 2: Stonecutter shout out, starting with the incredible Hoomus Davis, Katy
- 33:06Speaker 2: g and of course we've got here, David Stewart, Glenn Gomez,
- 33:10Speaker 2: Justin Parker, Zach Pruitt, Shanny Maker, Elliott j O'Neill, is
- 33:14Speaker 2: Abella Murphy, Rach Beasley, Stephen Roberts, Shawn d V, Pete Anderson,
- 33:17Speaker 2: Timothy Burlson, Andrew Davis, Kevin Dentel, Planned Flood, Bella Win
- 33:21Speaker 2: the Bank, Jack McFadden, Heath Appleby, Adrick McLeod, March, Eleven
- 33:24Speaker 2: Ginger and Pickle Preston, Murray, Talia and Riquez, Declan Phoenix,
- 33:28Speaker 2: Brian McCoy, Logan, b James Sheppard, Joe Reading, Sect, Dave
- 33:31Speaker 2: Pretzel's McNally, Gavin Lang, Damy Miller Charlie Joe, Abigail B.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Sharpcatter and Craig Alt Smash Gloucester. Thanks for being top
- 33:37Speaker 2: tier stone Cutter supporters here at four thing of this Gap.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Thank you for being the Pixar of supporters, the original
- 33:43Speaker 3: Pixar Indeed make KDG like Toy Story two.
- 33:47Speaker 2: She's the original short film. Oh yes, she's tin Toy.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So the original air day of To Surveill with Love
- 33:56Speaker 2: is May second, twenty ten. The top three films at
- 33:59Speaker 2: US box office when this episode aired were number three
- 34:03Speaker 2: Date Nights and number two How to Train Your Dragon,
- 34:05Speaker 2: and number one A Nightmare and elm Street to the reboot.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Never watched it, the remake of A Nightmare and arm Street. Yes, yeah,
- 34:11Speaker 2: they went for a phase, didn't they. They rebooted all
- 34:13Speaker 2: these movies. Halloween, they sure did. Friday thirteenth got rebooted.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I feel like hell Raiser is a movie that could
- 34:19Speaker 2: probably do well getting rebooted.
- 34:20Speaker 3: It did get reb yeah, and it wasn't too bad.
- 34:24Speaker 3: But yeah, it never really sort of I don't think
- 34:27Speaker 3: it went anywhere just beyond the initial remake.
- 34:30Speaker 2: People keep talling to me Horror is back. I'm like,
- 34:33Speaker 2: is Horror back or because people are saying backdoor movie
- 34:37Speaker 2: and O posession and stuff. Are they horror movies? They're
- 34:40Speaker 2: scary back rooms or backdoor back rooms? Yeah, yes, indeed.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're more sort of spooky movies, yeah,
- 34:48Speaker 3: than additional.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Slash of horror. Yeah, but terrifies more. My god, it's
- 34:53Speaker 2: going to kill them this way. That's goreporn. Yeah.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I mean horror is great because it's got all these
- 34:57Speaker 3: different sort of you know, subgenres within the genre.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I think. But when I think.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Of like a good Saturday night horror movie, I think
- 35:03Speaker 3: of like a final Destination or something like that, where
- 35:05Speaker 3: it's just like, oh my god, yeah you're half laughing
- 35:09Speaker 3: half ah yeah, half laughing, half terrified.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Obsession.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I've yet to see obsession or back rooms. They're both
- 35:17Speaker 3: good in different ways. Okay, Yeah, I mean obsession is
- 35:19Speaker 3: just an absolutely sensation. It's the Yeah, the return on
- 35:24Speaker 3: investment is something insane. I mean, it's may almost make
- 35:27Speaker 3: close to like a billion dollars.
- 35:28Speaker 2: World, is it? Really? It's like paranormal activity style Yeah, yeah.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Eight of those didn't they They certainly did. But yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 3: this night maryon Elm Street to reboot was yeah, just
- 35:37Speaker 3: no good it was a real yah. I was kind
- 35:40Speaker 3: of looking forward to it because they cast with Robert England. No, no,
- 35:44Speaker 3: Robert England was back Jackie Earl Haley as Freddy Krueger.
- 35:47Speaker 3: There's an actor I really like and who can play
- 35:49Speaker 3: sort of like weird menacing.
- 35:50Speaker 2: But they're good. Yeah, it just didn't work. Yes, but
- 35:55Speaker 2: they were the top three films. Dave Night just hanging out,
- 35:57Speaker 2: It's been there for a while now, still number three
- 35:58Speaker 2: from the last three. Last week looks like it's making
- 36:00Speaker 2: a bit of money there, Yeah, got a million bucks, Yes,
- 36:03Speaker 2: there we go. And How to Train Your Dragon of
- 36:05Speaker 2: course making lots of my Apparently Toy Story five has
- 36:06Speaker 2: already made it's money back and then some like the
- 36:08Speaker 2: first weekend it's been one hundred and twenty per percent
- 36:11Speaker 2: of his budget.
- 36:13Speaker 3: We're as guilty of this as anyone. I mean, we
- 36:15Speaker 3: do this segment where it's like the top three films
- 36:18Speaker 3: Judge by box off, the Judge by their box off returns.
- 36:20Speaker 2: People are going just cause this Toy Story. Yeah, but
- 36:23Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:23Speaker 3: I think the films are going to be talking about
- 36:24Speaker 3: twenty years from now, aren't necessarily the ones that made
- 36:27Speaker 3: a shit ton of money.
- 36:28Speaker 2: I mean, I don't remember a lot of what happened
- 36:30Speaker 2: in Infinity War or even in Endgame. You remember the
- 36:35Speaker 2: thing of snap and stuff. Yeah, you remember.
- 36:37Speaker 3: You know, you got to say Avengers assemble and you know,
- 36:39Speaker 3: Captain America got the got the Hammer.
- 36:41Speaker 2: That was pretty cool. But if it didn't, if you
- 36:44Speaker 2: didn't live through that time, it's I just feel people
- 36:46Speaker 2: are going to go back in twenties and go, oh,
- 36:48Speaker 2: what a great movie these were. So it was a
- 36:50Speaker 2: great moment in time. If you're a Marble fan. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:53Speaker 2: I went and saw it because it just felt like
- 36:54Speaker 2: it was an event at the time. Sure, I had
- 36:56Speaker 2: no connection to the characters. I was like, yeah, I
- 36:58Speaker 2: don't know. If someone said assemble and everyone sim was like,
- 37:01Speaker 2: I was like, oh cool, I appreciate you guys, you
- 37:05Speaker 2: dig it. Who knows many, But yeah, it's just we're
- 37:11Speaker 2: just going to see franchises these days. But I do
- 37:15Speaker 2: it's in the playum actually, but that the popcorn Buckers.
- 37:17Speaker 2: I touched on the popcorn Bucke's recently, right. I do
- 37:19Speaker 2: realize they feared out where to get people to go
- 37:21Speaker 2: to the movies. It's everything's every movie's you got a
- 37:23Speaker 2: novelty popcorn bucket and they're like fifty bucks each, but
- 37:26Speaker 2: people are buying. They signed it the buzz Lightyear Want.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Have you seen the buzz Light you Want? It's actually fantastic,
- 37:32Speaker 2: but they much like the original buzz Light Your Toys
- 37:34Speaker 2: and Toy Story the movie came out, they sold it
- 37:36Speaker 2: like that. So now they're selling for like two hundred
- 37:38Speaker 2: dollars on eBay. And I think that's one of those
- 37:41Speaker 2: things where it's the fomo and then you know in
- 37:44Speaker 2: two or three is people are going to realize, oh,
- 37:46Speaker 2: it's just a popcorn bucket. Yeah, I've got these tin.
- 37:52Speaker 2: I've got tins Danny the Toy Story ones. They're like
- 37:54Speaker 2: twenty bucks filled with popcorn. Ay Year drink with it.
- 37:56Speaker 2: So I'm like, I don't mind buying those for the kids.
- 37:58Speaker 2: I'm not going to be buying a sixty five dollars
- 38:00Speaker 2: popcorn bucket because it's shaped like you know, grogu or something.
- 38:04Speaker 2: It's like, what do you do with the once you
- 38:05Speaker 2: finish a popcorn? No one's buying grogus.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Nah.
- 38:08Speaker 3: It's amazing how much Baby Yoda has just fallen off.
- 38:12Speaker 2: So we went to see Toy Story five and the
- 38:15Speaker 2: combos with the Grogu stuff are like half priced, like
- 38:18Speaker 2: we can't get rid of this stuff. I didn't go
- 38:21Speaker 2: see it, no, I mean neither. Crazy. It astounds me
- 38:25Speaker 2: that I didn't go see a Star Wars movie likewise,
- 38:26Speaker 2: and I had no desire to see it. And yeah,
- 38:28Speaker 2: look at me, and I loved we did a mental podcast.
- 38:31Speaker 2: We really did. And when it hits Disney Plus, I'll
- 38:33Speaker 2: be like, oh, I'll get to it when I get
- 38:34Speaker 2: to it. Insane. It makes me so sad.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Well, like talking about marm I mean, fantastic four First
- 38:39Speaker 3: Steps has been on so long and I'm just like,
- 38:43Speaker 3: I'll get to it when I get to it. And
- 38:44Speaker 3: like I said, it's got my boy in it even
- 38:46Speaker 3: must backrack.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe you didn't do well? Did it didn't do well? Well?
- 38:50Speaker 2: I think it did all right, well enough for a
- 38:52Speaker 2: secont though probably just available love So sorry. We're going
- 38:56Speaker 2: off on a lot of attentions. Written by Michael Nabori,
- 38:58Speaker 2: directed by Lance Kramer. Guest stars. We said Eddie is
- 39:01Speaker 2: it as Nigel Baker Butcher and Marsha Wallace of course
- 39:04Speaker 2: as Edna or Cash Gag. So, first of all, do
- 39:08Speaker 2: did they have the chopboard gig, not to have the
- 39:11Speaker 2: sign gag, didn't anything billboard gang. Okay, the whole it
- 39:14Speaker 2: was just the lip dub to tip to Tikkok, Yeah,
- 39:17Speaker 2: said tik Tak kicks off with the guys bought at most,
- 39:21Speaker 2: but then Touff men, are this what? Absolutely no where
- 39:24Speaker 2: by the way. So he walks in with like the
- 39:25Speaker 2: space Jam song You're all ready for This, And that song,
- 39:28Speaker 2: by the way, is called You're ready for this? Yes,
- 39:29Speaker 2: I won't, I won't hear get ready. I know it's
- 39:32Speaker 2: get ready. The song is called You're ready for this,
- 39:35Speaker 2: Ready for this, it's the it's the space It's Alliott
- 39:38Speaker 2: calls it the good Guys song. That's when the tunes
- 39:40Speaker 2: squad start taking like fuh up on the monstars in
- 39:43Speaker 2: space Jam. But they he says, the only thing better
- 39:46Speaker 2: than Duff is free Duff stuff. He gives them on
- 39:48Speaker 2: touch on this ber Cozy gives us some big cozies, right, Yes,
- 39:51Speaker 2: my mate from America who brings me back some blu
- 39:53Speaker 2: rays every time he comes back. He said to me,
- 39:56Speaker 2: I was at the party the other day and asked
- 39:58Speaker 2: for a stubby holder. Yes, and I'm like, what are
- 40:00Speaker 2: you talking about? He's like, what you put your drinks in?
- 40:03Speaker 2: I many cozy. It's like all the things you've got
- 40:06Speaker 2: to call it. That sounds so yeah, these guys, give
- 40:11Speaker 2: me your beer, give me a cozy, Give me a
- 40:14Speaker 2: beer and make it cozy. Yeah, give me a cozy.
- 40:16Speaker 2: I was they were called cozy beer cozy because I'm
- 40:19Speaker 2: nice and cozy, like a tea cozy. Yeah yeah, because
- 40:21Speaker 2: he used to have tea cozy teapot. But just yeah,
- 40:25Speaker 2: give me a Budweiser cozy beer cozy and flash drives
- 40:30Speaker 2: and whatnot, people like give it flash drives. It was.
- 40:32Speaker 2: It was a time that where people give it flash drives,
- 40:34Speaker 2: like you can store things on this, yeah, and see
- 40:36Speaker 2: jpeggs there's so little storage.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Oh god, because I mean you got this, you've got
- 40:45Speaker 3: office works now and you can get one of these,
- 40:46Speaker 3: like oh my god, I got thirty two gig on
- 40:48Speaker 3: this and you're playing like ten bugs like you get someone.
- 40:51Speaker 3: It's like it's good when gig games.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Remember when it used to be. You know, you're three
- 40:55Speaker 2: and a half inch floppies come at this of course,
- 40:58Speaker 2: and maybe you are, and you would put like, you know,
- 41:02Speaker 2: two word documents and maybe maybe a PowerPoint, and that's it.
- 41:04Speaker 2: It's fool But there's where what's his name? Duff Man
- 41:10Speaker 2: leads for a dinner date with his strange daughter. He
- 41:12Speaker 2: won't discuss why she shopped out of college, then tries
- 41:14Speaker 2: to shop the merch here to Bart and Bart gives
- 41:16Speaker 2: him nothing. And that's pretty much it. What was the
- 41:19Speaker 2: point of that opening? What? What? What does that? Am
- 41:22Speaker 2: I going to find something? Does that lead to anything?
- 41:25Speaker 3: Not that I'm aware of. No, he's just but he's
- 41:28Speaker 3: just got a whole bunch of dugh stuff, including like
- 41:30Speaker 3: grill you don't see it anymore? No, well, yeah, I
- 41:35Speaker 3: mean the only reason it's some exciting incident is because
- 41:36Speaker 3: he's got the duff bag. He's taken on this tough stuff.
- 41:40Speaker 3: It's like, we need to get rid of this plutonium.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Where can we put it? I'll just put it.
- 41:44Speaker 2: In that dickhead's bag. Wore we a lot of We
- 41:48Speaker 2: really took the scenic route we did. Indeed, Millhouse has
- 41:51Speaker 2: taken ages to choose its jealous and I didn't think
- 41:54Speaker 2: trust McNeil did a really great job of being You
- 41:58Speaker 2: can tell it's trust she was. She gave it a roll. Yeah,
- 42:02Speaker 2: you can tell the oh yeah, had you've been stirring
- 42:06Speaker 2: at these gelatin desserts for fifteen minutes.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Pick one?
- 42:10Speaker 2: It's so hard to decide.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Is a yellow one, lemon or pineapple?
- 42:15Speaker 2: It's your pet canary. No, scrimpy, ha, you're a spaz.
- 42:23Speaker 4: That's not true. First of all, Malhouse felt because you
- 42:26Speaker 4: tripped him. Secondly, spas short for spastic toplegic, someone who
- 42:31Speaker 4: suffers from a serious medical condition. Thirdly, you're ha through
- 42:35Speaker 4: overuse has lost its power.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Wow, I bow before your logic. None of this is
- 42:42Speaker 2: Nelson Nelson the point. This is just where the Simpsons
- 42:48Speaker 2: is now. It's gonna have to be accept it. I
- 42:49Speaker 2: think just characters saying shit they would never say. Nelson
- 42:53Speaker 2: would never say, Oh, I bowed your logic. What if
- 42:57Speaker 2: that's a Mountain Prince line? Yeah? Maybe?
- 43:01Speaker 3: And I guess, Hey, it's funny that Nelson is saying
- 43:06Speaker 3: a line that you might hit coming out of Martin
- 43:07Speaker 3: Prince about But no, and don't.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Am I supposed to believe that Lisa, of all people,
- 43:12Speaker 2: didn't know the school had a debate team.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Correct, Come on, and plus, I don't know saying your
- 43:19Speaker 3: catchphrase is played out is exactly logic. It's more like
- 43:23Speaker 3: just a burn.
- 43:25Speaker 2: But then miss Dubinski invites her to the debate team
- 43:28Speaker 2: and unfortunately they can't. They've got no no what's called funding?
- 43:33Speaker 2: Have they? So Ralph is the Latin like the lea turn.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Let's wheel that Ralph again. He says, I'm a furniture
- 43:41Speaker 2: because that's all. That's what he is. Now, I'm a
- 43:45Speaker 2: star Wars, I'm a furniture. I'm an insert whatever the theme
- 43:49Speaker 2: is at this point in time. That's all he does. Now.
- 43:52Speaker 2: The City debate tournament, Lisa gives thoughts on why hybrid
- 43:56Speaker 2: car buyers should be given rebates paid by taxes on Hamburgers.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Skinner then says the podiums are needed as easels. So
- 44:02Speaker 2: they leave because they had I think it was Wendell
- 44:04Speaker 2: and Ralph. It was Wendell, yes, yeah, and then Megan
- 44:07Speaker 2: Winscrew is Lisa and she wins Yeah.
- 44:11Speaker 3: But just attacking your character, but it's by doing sort
- 44:13Speaker 3: of personal insults.
- 44:14Speaker 2: As a person, which isn't but not debating the actual topic. No, great,
- 44:20Speaker 2: I was.
- 44:21Speaker 3: A reminder of this. There was going to be zero zero,
- 44:25Speaker 3: zero point one percent of the listening audience to get this.
- 44:28Speaker 3: But I remember watching this movie back in the eighties
- 44:30Speaker 3: called Listen to Me. It had Kirk Cameron in it
- 44:32Speaker 3: from Growing Pains, one of his brief stabs a big
- 44:35Speaker 3: screen startup.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Wasn't there another movie called Listen to Me? It was
- 44:39Speaker 2: talked to Me. It was Talk to Me. And there
- 44:40Speaker 2: was also Lean on Me, Lean on Me, Yes, And
- 44:42Speaker 2: there was also a Return to Me. A lot of
- 44:44Speaker 2: me movies. And this one was about a debate team
- 44:49Speaker 2: and they realized they were kind of out matching their
- 44:52Speaker 2: coat said, if we can't win this, if we can't
- 44:54Speaker 2: win this thing on fact, we dann we were better
- 44:56Speaker 2: win it on drama. So they basically the debate team
- 44:59Speaker 2: at the end sort of like told all these personal
- 45:01Speaker 2: stories that were meant to sort of sway the audience,
- 45:02Speaker 2: bring a round their way.
- 45:03Speaker 3: I think he as opposed to like, here's my argument,
- 45:05Speaker 3: here are my points cogently delivered. It was more like,
- 45:10Speaker 3: did this happened to me? And find the theatric and
- 45:14Speaker 3: even yeah, even as a kid, I mean not a kid,
- 45:16Speaker 3: like a teenager watching this again, what a terrible messy.
- 45:21Speaker 2: It's like no.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Appeal to you, like the base instincts of the of
- 45:25Speaker 3: the people that you're trying to convince as opposed to
- 45:27Speaker 3: like winning them over with the strength of the argument.
- 45:30Speaker 3: It's like, no, no, let me tug at your heartstrings.
- 45:33Speaker 3: I saw that maybe where are we now? I saw
- 45:36Speaker 3: that maybe thirty years ago, and it's still like, man,
- 45:38Speaker 3: that pissed me off.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Well, it's very much what happens. We've been watching a
- 45:41Speaker 2: lot of Law and Order lately, Nicola and I not suly,
- 45:43Speaker 2: just normal law and order. And when the defendant realizes that,
- 45:46Speaker 2: fuck that is played the theatrics to the jury. Oh
- 45:47Speaker 2: sure my dog died yesterday. When that happens, I just
- 45:53Speaker 2: thought I had cancer. I turned into calmic clocking from SPU.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Just grewed the kid and growed the gun.
- 45:58Speaker 3: That's the best episode agend Cooper anyway.
- 46:03Speaker 2: But yeah, Megan at the end, Yeah, not winning.
- 46:06Speaker 3: The debate by you know, coming up with a good
- 46:09Speaker 3: rebuttal to to Lisa's argument, just like, yeah, listen to
- 46:13Speaker 3: Blondie here.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Ridiculous, Yeah, ridiculous. Smithers then tells mister Burns that the
- 46:17Speaker 2: Hollow Mountain in Nevada that's supposed to hold a million
- 46:19Speaker 2: years where the nuclear waste is full. He says, did
- 46:21Speaker 2: you jump on the pilot swush it down. He's like, yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 2: but it kept coming up somewhere else, So they say,
- 46:26Speaker 2: he says, find the biggest idiot on payroll and slip
- 46:28Speaker 2: it into his bag. We'll just put it in the
- 46:31Speaker 2: bin whatever. Smithers then puts it in. Good opportunity for
- 46:37Speaker 2: a gag there.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Just you know, I have a nice little bit of
- 46:39Speaker 3: bands between the do how about this place? How about
- 46:41Speaker 3: this place? How about this place? And just increasingly.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Ridiculous places where where you've been storing all your nuclear waste.
- 46:47Speaker 2: It like, put it in someone's bag. Yeah, I would
- 46:51Speaker 2: did that last week, so you know what I mean.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you used to You would have done that before
- 46:56Speaker 3: you used to train.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Then they eventually decided to put it in in Homer's
- 47:01Speaker 2: bag because they seen him in the lunch.
- 47:02Speaker 3: Room because he's got all his tough merchan Yeah he
- 47:04Speaker 3: put up a tough poster there. Yeah, but he's also yeah,
- 47:09Speaker 3: I got.
- 47:09Speaker 2: His tough bag. And they discussing mac and cheese when
- 47:13Speaker 2: he says the best one at the train station, and
- 47:15Speaker 2: then Smithers has put the plutoni in the bag. Whiles
- 47:18Speaker 2: they're discussing that cust a Homer at the train station
- 47:21Speaker 2: talking to some random guy who says that the bowling
- 47:23Speaker 2: alien Odiville has the best one has bread crumbs on top.
- 47:26Speaker 2: And so Homer leaves and he leaves his bag and
- 47:28Speaker 2: attended thought. I thought he did this well, So the
- 47:30Speaker 2: unattended bag there was at one I still did this
- 47:32Speaker 2: stay you see the undertended bag your panic, right, I
- 47:34Speaker 2: didn't mind that all panic. But I've only ever once
- 47:39Speaker 2: seen a guy put a bag down. It was at
- 47:41Speaker 2: the Melbourne Airport and he put a bag down and
- 47:44Speaker 2: walking to the mail toilets, and I was like, I remember,
- 47:49Speaker 2: I got the security guard and I was like, that
- 47:50Speaker 2: guy's put a bag down there and he's gone to
- 47:53Speaker 2: the toilet. And immediately there's all these guys came and
- 47:56Speaker 2: picked them and carefully took the bag away. The guy
- 47:58Speaker 2: came out looking for his bag. He's like, I just
- 47:59Speaker 2: din't want take my bag into the toilet. It's like,
- 48:01Speaker 2: I don't think you can do that. Dude. You realize
- 48:05Speaker 2: that's the year twenty twenty something. Yeah, this is like
- 48:07Speaker 2: two or three years ago. Could have gone away with
- 48:08Speaker 2: that in the twentieth century. I was sitting and thinking,
- 48:11Speaker 2: oh my god, I hope I'm not gonna get in
- 48:12Speaker 2: trouble because it was so much drama that this guy
- 48:15Speaker 2: just came from everywhere.
- 48:16Speaker 3: He was accomplished.
- 48:19Speaker 2: But the guy got in big trouble. I didn't get
- 48:21Speaker 2: fine or anything, but he just got like a got
- 48:23Speaker 2: at talking to There was one guy that was just
- 48:25Speaker 2: going ape shit. Oh yeah, He's like, what do you
- 48:27Speaker 2: think we're going to think? Look, you can't with your
- 48:29Speaker 2: bags out at ten and he's like I just want
- 48:31Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, well you didn't think he was abusing
- 48:33Speaker 2: this guy and everybody. And I was like, shit, he
- 48:36Speaker 2: won't do that again. And we have this concerned citizen
- 48:39Speaker 2: over here. Yeah. He was the one who pointed I
- 48:43Speaker 2: think I did the right thing, though you did he
- 48:45Speaker 2: put it seems like a nice guy. And I was like,
- 48:48Speaker 2: just in case I'm going to step away from the bag,
- 48:51Speaker 2: take your bag in with it.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Yeah, just put it on your back. It's a backpack.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Was it a back It was a backpack? Oh yeah, sorry,
- 48:58Speaker 3: all bets are off. This guy's an idiot.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's he's back, back off and put it on
- 49:01Speaker 2: the ground. I was like, sorry, that guy's too stupid
- 49:03Speaker 2: to fly attendant bag.
- 49:20Speaker 1: So what do you think I think we're gonna blow
- 49:22Speaker 1: it up and let the bleeding heart.
- 49:24Speaker 2: Liberals ask questions later, well.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yo, why can't it be blown up by a woman
- 49:28Speaker 1: of color?
- 49:29Speaker 2: Five four, no time for a full countdown, and the
- 49:36Speaker 2: clock Land said, yes, you're right. How is in the backyard? Now?
- 49:38Speaker 2: I thought he's.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Gonna we're going to go some nice mac and cheese.
- 49:41Speaker 2: How much time had passed? Though? Maybe? I mean?
- 49:44Speaker 3: How far was Ogdenville? He's gone to Waldonville?
- 49:46Speaker 2: Had some mac and.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Cheese gone home?
- 49:48Speaker 2: Who knows? Is that right? Something?
- 49:50Speaker 3: Had something I'd adding.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Up for big clock Lands in the backyard? Oh, with
- 49:54Speaker 2: dinner time five to six? Apparently the dinner time I
- 49:56Speaker 2: think it was five to six. That was gonna be
- 49:57Speaker 2: one of my trivia questions. I'm glad you didn't ask.
- 50:00Speaker 2: We come back from the commercial and we have a
- 50:02Speaker 2: news report that chatter nuclear chew choo story. It's a
- 50:04Speaker 2: terrorist plot. That decided it was a terrorist plot. There's
- 50:07Speaker 2: enough radioactivity for seventeen hulks and a spider man, and
- 50:09Speaker 2: we get an image of them playing baseball. What does
- 50:12Speaker 2: can say? Shucking? That's pretty fun. Then it's town meeting
- 50:20Speaker 2: and it says today discussed terrorst threat tomorrow regret action
- 50:22Speaker 2: taken tonight. Yeah, I like that. And Quimby admits that this,
- 50:26Speaker 2: the terrorism discussion up to this point was just fear mongering. Yea,
- 50:28Speaker 2: but this is legitimate now I am truth mongering. Yes.
- 50:31Speaker 2: And now they've hired an outside UK consultant who's a
- 50:34Speaker 2: cute accent as much requested, sounds like Paddington Bear. He
- 50:38Speaker 2: puts on a slide show and he says, once in
- 50:40Speaker 2: the UK, the only problem we had was overzealous flower sellers.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Now we're monitored by security cameras everywhere. I like the
- 50:45Speaker 2: spin on the London eye comes an eyeball. Yeah, Sharry
- 50:49Speaker 2: Bobbins is now a terminator robot. What do they called
- 50:51Speaker 2: the T one? Their T one hundreds, aren't they? And
- 50:55Speaker 2: liquor better Man one.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Thousand and then I've forgotten what the female tur terminute
- 51:00Speaker 3: three it was called.
- 51:01Speaker 2: He was like the t X or something. I need
- 51:02Speaker 2: to revisit that. I've watched that movie once in my life.
- 51:05Speaker 2: You tell me it's okay, I remember watching it. Annie
- 51:08Speaker 2: isn't in it very briefly, isn't he? Or is he
- 51:10Speaker 2: not in it at all? An't he isn't a fair
- 51:13Speaker 2: bit he's not.
- 51:14Speaker 3: He's not in Terminated Salvation.
- 51:16Speaker 2: That's the one I went. He's in it. What a
- 51:18Speaker 2: brief little bit I remember Moat. It's kind of a
- 51:21Speaker 2: deep faked Arnold. Yeah, yeah, I actually remember memories. It's
- 51:25Speaker 2: going to see that because my mum and I rocked up,
- 51:28Speaker 2: and this just shows the state of how the movie
- 51:30Speaker 2: industry has changed, right Tory save what twenty ten? Maybe
- 51:33Speaker 2: it's my mom and I went to watch it. It
- 51:35Speaker 2: would just be like, you know, a Friday night or something,
- 51:37Speaker 2: and my mom and I've only gone to the movies
- 51:38Speaker 2: by ourselves a couple of handf of the times, probably
- 51:40Speaker 2: why I remember it. But we walk in there and
- 51:42Speaker 2: every seat was full. The only seat empty was the
- 51:46Speaker 2: front road down the very very front row like Terminator
- 51:49Speaker 2: Salvation is full people. It was full. So my memories
- 51:54Speaker 2: I having to sit right at the very front, basically
- 51:55Speaker 2: looking straight up in the air. But I remember when
- 51:57Speaker 2: Arnie came on the screen, the entire order it's erupted.
- 52:01Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, we used to be more easily entertained,
- 52:05Speaker 2: and we used to go to the movies. Now we've
- 52:06Speaker 2: burned out our pleasure centers. Yeah, I went to Disclosure day,
- 52:09Speaker 2: and there would have been about five people in there.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I'm going to see Toy Story five on Friday afternoon
- 52:16Speaker 2: after school, and there was us and two other people,
- 52:20Speaker 2: so six people in the entire v Premium cinema four.
- 52:24Speaker 2: There were six people in there. Yesh, that's not good.
- 52:28Speaker 2: And these two other people had giant bags of Sultan
- 52:32Speaker 2: vinegar chips like the giant party bags and were crunkling
- 52:35Speaker 2: the entire movie. Was itcusy? Look another story disclosure day?
- 52:40Speaker 2: We went to see it, right, No, not about the movie.
- 52:42Speaker 2: It's an old man Dande story. We get there light
- 52:46Speaker 2: and you know, I don't mind people sort of making noise,
- 52:48Speaker 2: of eating your popcorn, your drink's just your usual movie
- 52:51Speaker 2: sounds right, But talking during a movie, just don't do it. No,
- 52:54Speaker 2: I'm just not. I won't have it right. I've paid
- 52:56Speaker 2: money to come see this. You've paid money to see this.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Why talking? Right? These two girls were about I don't know,
- 53:03Speaker 2: six or so rows from the back row, and these
- 53:05Speaker 2: two girls were sitting at the back and they were
- 53:07Speaker 2: just talking at the side of the move just talking,
- 53:10Speaker 2: just went out, just talking to each other about anything,
- 53:12Speaker 2: but not watching the movie at all. I said to Nichol,
- 53:15Speaker 2: They've got five minutes to shut the fuck up or
- 53:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna time to shut the fuck up. And she's like, yeah,
- 53:20Speaker 2: they I can hear them as well, so talking. And
- 53:24Speaker 2: you know, when you get to the point where you're distracted,
- 53:26Speaker 2: and I felt I would find myself. I wasn't really
- 53:28Speaker 2: focusing on the movie. I was listening to them, right,
- 53:30Speaker 2: and I stood I said, guys, please, I'm trying to
- 53:33Speaker 2: watch this movie. And I sort of looked me like
- 53:35Speaker 2: and then they moved right, so they thought, oh, well,
- 53:37Speaker 2: we've just moved to the back left corner. They won't
- 53:40Speaker 2: hear us. And then of course they fucking kept talking. Right.
- 53:44Speaker 2: The guy about three seats three rows down from us
- 53:45Speaker 2: turns out and goes shut up, and they just start
- 53:48Speaker 2: giggling and they just keep talking and they're on their
- 53:50Speaker 2: phones and it has gone around and then I hear
- 53:55Speaker 2: a thud. Right. I turn around and one of them
- 53:58Speaker 2: is standing in the aisle with a torch on the phone.
- 54:00Speaker 2: The other one is doing a handstand against the back wall,
- 54:02Speaker 2: and they're filling themselves live streaming on TikTok. And I
- 54:05Speaker 2: stood up. I've never done this before, but I stood
- 54:08Speaker 2: up and I said, if you guys are going to
- 54:10Speaker 2: watch the movie, get the fuck out, and they both go,
- 54:13Speaker 2: we're sorry, and they just left and I was like,
- 54:15Speaker 2: why did you come? I felt bad afterwards, yelled at
- 54:18Speaker 2: by these I was like, no, what, no, fuck off.
- 54:20Speaker 2: You're doing handstands in the aisles. Fuck off, I've done
- 54:24Speaker 2: that as well. I just said, get the fuck out,
- 54:26Speaker 2: and they left. Why were you even here?
- 54:29Speaker 3: No, man, I've told me able to shut the fuck up.
- 54:31Speaker 3: And I feel bad after I've done it as well.
- 54:33Speaker 2: But they shut the fuck up. You're at the movies.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Shut the fuck up. This is not your living room. No,
- 54:39Speaker 2: you like in your own place. Fucking handstands doing live streams.
- 54:42Speaker 3: That's insane. That's insane. I don't approve.
- 54:45Speaker 2: And I said to Niger, I'm sorry.
- 54:46Speaker 3: She's like, no, no, no, I've never been to.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Excuse me. Is this what the framers of the Constitution
- 54:54Speaker 4: would want?
- 54:55Speaker 1: I'm Waally and Wally's framers, and this is exactly what
- 54:58Speaker 1: I want.
- 55:00Speaker 4: How many personal freedoms are we willing to give up
- 55:03Speaker 4: in the name of security.
- 55:05Speaker 1: That blonde girl thinks she's smart like dark hairs.
- 55:09Speaker 4: Again with the blonde, Why in the world with the
- 55:13Speaker 4: color of the hair on someone's head had anything to
- 55:15Speaker 4: do with the intelligence within, And that's.
- 55:18Speaker 2: The thesis of our episode. Yes, how how this is
- 55:21Speaker 2: the point? Yeah, we learned something today, we did indeed.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Well, I think it's a line that was going around
- 55:27Speaker 3: a lot sort of posts September eleven, when you know,
- 55:29Speaker 3: you got the Patriot Act and there was a lot
- 55:31Speaker 3: of surveillance of American citizens, a lot of surveillance of
- 55:33Speaker 3: American culture, you know, post of the September eleven attacks. Yeah,
- 55:36Speaker 3: and there was a line that was going around that
- 55:37Speaker 3: was like, he who trades freedom for security ends up
- 55:41Speaker 3: gaining losing both or gaining neither, or something along those lines. Yeah,
- 55:47Speaker 3: little bolshevik me was gone. Then there's a lot of
- 55:49Speaker 3: shits down with your system. Now you got to strike
- 55:53Speaker 3: a compromise between the two. But now at least got
- 55:55Speaker 3: a point there.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Yeah, But then Clearest mocks have for being blonde. And
- 55:59Speaker 2: then the episode goes back you have no point, yes,
- 56:01Speaker 2: and Lisa asks, you know why, and Quimby says, why
- 56:04Speaker 2: do people think blondes are dumb? Then we get Quimby's
- 56:06Speaker 2: blonde saying that he's promised to leave his wife when
- 56:09Speaker 2: she's fifty. Look, I'm guilty.
- 56:10Speaker 3: I've I've gotten many a good love out of Quimby
- 56:13Speaker 3: mistress jokes in the past, mainly because yeah, partly it's
- 56:16Speaker 3: a play on JFK and Marilyn Marlral. But all the hell,
- 56:21Speaker 3: a lot of times they're pretty funny. It's like, was
- 56:23Speaker 3: the one where Quimby was like in disguise or something?
- 56:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and you were a gold joke. No, for some reason,
- 56:30Speaker 2: I find that bunny. But yeah, this one not great.
- 56:33Speaker 2: But then yeah, so this says all votes say cheese.
- 56:36Speaker 2: All the post I had America, I thought it was
- 56:38Speaker 2: a good but then but this is where he says
- 56:39Speaker 2: next emotion on the terms of the city officials, I
- 56:42Speaker 2: say I have sex of animals, and that's it. Says
- 56:45Speaker 2: I don't have sex of animals, but also oppose the
- 56:46Speaker 2: term laments, and I was like, need a different line there,
- 56:49Speaker 2: I have sex of animals. I know I wasn't a fan.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Well, I don't hate I mean Quimby saying I have
- 56:57Speaker 3: sex with animals. It kind of leads on from the
- 56:59Speaker 3: from the previously about it, I hate America all that
- 57:01Speaker 3: kind of stuff.
- 57:01Speaker 2: It's like, OK, that worked with animals shouldn't be on
- 57:06Speaker 2: the TV.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Then yeah, well then after that, don't have clean the same,
- 57:10Speaker 3: We'll have clear the same.
- 57:12Speaker 2: I agree with the first, but I opposed the second.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Not something along that. I just think that sex with
- 57:15Speaker 2: animals there's not something should be saying on The Simpsons,
- 57:17Speaker 2: probably saying old man Dando. But I just don't. I
- 57:20Speaker 2: just don't think that that's the kind of thing that,
- 57:21Speaker 2: for example, Matt Groening or James L. Brooks. I'm surprised
- 57:24Speaker 2: books approved that I have sex with animals that that
- 57:27Speaker 2: line being on The Simpsons, so outright. Brooksy was probably
- 57:32Speaker 2: working on another project at this time. Yes, was his
- 57:35Speaker 2: movie that tanked around this time was probably how will
- 57:37Speaker 2: you know? Or how do you know? He's got a
- 57:40Speaker 2: movie that tanked in every year these days. He's maybe
- 57:43Speaker 2: one recently that didn't really do all that well, yeah,
- 57:45Speaker 2: probably the French loved it. Marge then gets Lisa a
- 57:48Speaker 2: book which again goes nowhere. So it was just Sally's
- 57:51Speaker 2: Circle and ret to Land book and she reads it
- 57:54Speaker 2: and it's just basically this Sally the Circle isn't gonna
- 57:57Speaker 2: have any friends anymore. Yeah, she's a because she's not
- 58:00Speaker 2: one rectangle lad. Yeah, and that's it. Lisays that' bother
- 58:03Speaker 2: ambitious book, unambitious book, and that's the end of up it.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Then the UK guy was his name Nigel, He butcher
- 58:09Speaker 2: is he shows him way to put all the cameras.
- 58:11Speaker 2: He puts one of these most some obvious secrets. You
- 58:14Speaker 2: ain't gonna like what you see, says. Then the kids
- 58:16Speaker 2: are watching Krusty make blonde jokes, but says, blonde guys
- 58:20Speaker 2: aren't dumb, they're just evil, like the Kreatei kid and
- 58:22Speaker 2: World War two.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Okay, we got a letter bug on F six, double
- 58:27Speaker 1: homicide in progress on Q twenty, woman's sun bathing top
- 58:30Speaker 1: us in our fifteen, Chief, I think we got a
- 58:33Speaker 1: misuse of police equipment on ZZ ninety nine. Chill drying
- 58:40Speaker 1: gas station customer washing windshield without buying gas, girl using
- 58:46Speaker 1: whiteoutist nail polish. Oh man, this is hard. Hey, did
- 58:49Speaker 1: you get that guy was parading around naked?
- 58:52Speaker 2: He was just jogging in a tan sweatsuit.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Chief, Are you sure?
- 58:55Speaker 2: I thought I sized that.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Was a fanny pack one on the front, but there
- 58:59Speaker 1: was water but it was speaking.
- 59:01Speaker 2: That's it, that's it.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Can't take another minute of these stupid screens. Go go
- 59:06Speaker 1: find some concerned citizens to pick up the slack.
- 59:09Speaker 2: Well, how many should I get?
- 59:10Speaker 1: Well, we've got eight chairs, so all the wait put
- 59:14Speaker 1: one chair in my office facing my desk.
- 59:16Speaker 2: So I seem like a meetings guy.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, I have a seat.
- 59:21Speaker 2: I'll do it in one minute. Yeah, there's a new
- 59:23Speaker 2: low And I was like, this is getting to be
- 59:26Speaker 2: a new loan. It's just a bunch of pointless jokes
- 59:29Speaker 2: that don't matter and don't further the story and just.
- 59:33Speaker 3: Well when they're poking fun at various characters or deflating
- 59:37Speaker 3: them all whatever, Yeah, I don't know, it's it's not
- 59:41Speaker 3: to the purpose of like showing the humanity of these people.
- 59:44Speaker 3: When you used to make fun of Wigham, it's like
- 59:46Speaker 3: he's a man of position of authority. He's the police chief,
- 59:49Speaker 3: he's the head cop in town. It's kind of funny
- 59:52Speaker 3: that he's a little insecure. But when you do it
- 59:55Speaker 3: all the time, it's like, what's the point. Looks like
- 59:59Speaker 3: you said before, was like, we're not this person has
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: no authority. Why am I scared of this person? Yeah?
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Well why am I? Why am I listening? I feel
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: really dumb down Wigham to the point where you don't
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: really hear Eddie say much, but Lou seems to hate
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: him now kind of yes, and it's just yeah, it's
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: weird wire and then runs through the PBJA period of
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: monitor be judgmental and John of down, that's what he's ABC,
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: the four a's Flanders, then c's jim Bow and Shawn
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: a smooching and yeah again, shouldn't I have just I mean,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: Jimmy should have gone that's right, I'm macking on a shwaner.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: You can watch if you.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: But then it's always been a thing in like American
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: shows and movies. You know where you'll have I think
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: they refer to it as an inspiration point here, and
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: they have that on happy days. Let's go up to
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: inspiration point lookout point, yeah, or whatever it is. But
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: you know you you didn't have your own place, say
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: your high school kid or whatever. Go, oh, we have
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: to I got my license.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Let's go up to the isolated because the line Burner's
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: car park. Oh sure, one of the happiest nights in
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: my life and local reference absolute but you know, should
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: have seen guy's face when I said those two words.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: It's like a whole core memory came back to me.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I was like, I was like the food critic and
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: read it to you just went you'd see it.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: It's see it in like American movies and TV shows
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: all the time. You know, the kids would go to
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: inspiration point in the car and they're making out or whatever.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: There will be some cop.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: Going, hey, you get out of here. It's like, why
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: is there any place the kids? Yeah? And I mean
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: is it what the laws against? Is this public?
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Is this in decent exposure? Is a public indecency? I
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: mean I could get it if there was like a
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: gang man going in one of the cars or something.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Or as I learned what dogging meant or correct.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: But if it's just a couple of kids smooching in
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: a car, even.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Get out of here, you kid get a little handsy.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I mean, if it's above the clothes stuff, what's to
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: you about the clothes stuff?
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: Feel So, here's the thing being.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: He's imposing and he's been kind of a pervert.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Yeah, and flanners. He's just enjoying interrupting everybody. Marge thinks
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: he's prying too much. And Maggie's watching the gay bar,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: which he thinks she's saysame Street, I guess there's teaching
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: him sharing and caring. Not that was funny. I like that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: Here's the thing when all those people are brought in,
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: when it's not just when it's Flanders and the love
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Joys and.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: The van Hottens both love Joys and think it's both
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: love joys enjoy. There was she Okay, I think why
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: was she not? Why would she not do this? I
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: don't know, because Flanners is more central a character, I guess,
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: or more high profile character.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Wigham says, well, you need people.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: You people are perfect because you're prying, but you're not pervy,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: like okay, yeah, I kind of like that, but yeah,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: then Ned's getting a bit pervy as well, is Yeah.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Lisa then gets out the hair dye Die Die, I die.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Then Mode takes bets on the weather weather report. Homer
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: gets it right. He guesses golf ball sized hail, which
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: pays off in a few moments, and Flanders tells them,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: tells on them so he can hear all the conversations
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: as well. Yeah, it's not just yeah, not just more
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: or is it that he could just see I think
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: I see gambling. Yeah, well that.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: Could be just money changing hands. But we've got to
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: borrow money off one another.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Carl calls him out and he's like, isn't this this
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: isn't the purpose of them, right? Isn't the purpose that
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: sort of stopped terrorism? And then Fantasy is going to
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: keep making that noise until he gives it back. And
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: it's very Dark knightish as well, did you have my way? Well?
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Is he not the Batman one? Yeah? Because I think it's.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: In Dark Knight where Morgan Freeman has basically set up
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: some systems like we can tap into all the all
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: the cameras around town or whatever.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Is the dark Dark Knight rises or is it Dark
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Knight Rise? I oother it was Dark Knight maybe maybe yeah,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: And Morgan Freeman's yeah, I've made the system, but no
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: one should use it. That's how he sees.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: There's all that big bank of TVs, and Christian Balle says,
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I'm only going to use it.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: I'm only going to use it once. That's too many.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Morgan Freeman, What a man. I'm trying to do my best.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Morgan Freeman. It's tough. It is tough, yes, but this
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: is where they go home. We're not safe in here anymore.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: We're going to go home to out cameras in side
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: their home, so we're going to stand inside her house.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Then the golf ball, Yes, that's the payoff then, but
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: it's flushing his ars at the camera and realizes that
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: he can't see him, and he makes the blind spot
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: and he draws it in the backyard. Lenny and Kyle
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: then arrive at Chaos Corners. The Pleasure Patch has not
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: seen on TV is where Brandy In drinks whilest pregnant.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: I must go here. I just hate these gags. There
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: used to be country bumpkins. Now they're just next level monsters,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: not funny. I see how anyone watching this and go, oh, yeah,
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: she's drinking while she's pregnant and fucking a bad child.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: That's hilarious. So good love it, great, great humor. Flanners
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: is happy, nothing is going on. He eats a sour ball.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: It's really weird and annoying and just it's just a
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: shit character now, just a genuine shit character. I did
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: not like him in this episode, and I've normally got
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: a bit of a soft spot. But yeah, at the party,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: they're having a drag race, not very far because it's
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: in the backyard. But then sees Marge coming, so everyone
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: starts acting legal and Marginon tells Homerer off for wearing
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Maggie's mask on he's junk it's her Halloween costume, and
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Margin's annoyed. See I thought when he says, this is
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: what I've been doing, She's like, that's very clever because
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: in the beer bar and he's like, well, this is
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: what I've been doing. It's highly illegal. And she's like,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: you know what, that's very clever. Sure were here. She's
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: just like she ratted him out. I don't want you
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: doing it. Mare. It's like, but so what do you want, March.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: You don't want Flanners to be prying and everyone's lives.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: We also don't want to be having a spot where
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: they can just be themselves.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: And if you are conflicted, take a lesson from the
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: b plot of this episode and make an argument for
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: both cases.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a tricky one. It's half a middle
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: land on one side of the argument when both have
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: their coaching points.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Yeah, this is where flantners. Overhere is Marge discussing the
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: blind spot, so he gets so clearly there is audio.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: There must be Mike as well as those cameras, because
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: he's a really good liberator. He gets Rod to hold
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: up the mirror. He's shaving mirror so you can see them.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: He sees me in the backyard, and he tells him
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: and Todd to stay inside, but Todd's already in the
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: backyard getting attacked by the bullies. Well not just attack,
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: they're feeding like rats into his mouth. It's like Terrifier
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: three see it. Yeah, there's a scary clowns the tube
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: and yeah, I've basically just like saw like the death scenes.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: I was like I did that. Okay, cool, good on you.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: And then someimes someone's like, there's actually a story to
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: all this. I'm like, hither we really care about the story.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: We're just down for more. Used to get those movies,
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: you just skip the first fifteen minutes and get to
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: the good stuff.
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: Bro the Thirdeth movies.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Essentially they went the movies I was talking about, Oh,
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: forensic files, the boring kind, not the c S I kind.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Is a debate day Meghan and now is this me
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I thought this was a different I thought this was
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: a different debater from the first one. I thought it
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: was Meghan. It would be the point of having Meghan
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: in the first bit. I thought it was Lesa getting
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: to come up. It's some Meghan. It could be wrong. Yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: you could be right. I don't care enough to really check. Lisa.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: They're debating where the uniform should be mandatory. You're meant
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: to say for the listeners. Ten, we're supposed to care
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: abound the Simpsons and she enters with brown hair. I
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: realized everyone should be the same way she's about uniforms.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: She'd wear uniforms because everyone should be wearing the same
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: It levels the playing field. See, we have to wear uniforms.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: We've always had to wear uniforms, and it never dawned me.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: We're discussing it recently when we did a review of
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Team Homer, that uniforms are the thing. Like I overwatch
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: The Simpsons. I was like, oh, yeah, they don't wear
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: uniforms in America. I think uniforms are actually a good idea.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: So it does level the playoff playing field.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Oh absolutely, yeah, otherwise you haves and have nots. You
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: get that out that T shirt that came at her
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: back when that used to be an insult.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Yes, Then she says it's better to fit in with
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: the crowd, and then she calls them all out for
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: being persuaded by the color of her hand or the
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: content of her argument. I thought you're trying to go
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: for like Martin Luther King by the content of my character.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: I have a dream kind of shit. Then she reveals it.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: So basically, what.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: You're saying is that Martin Luther King Junior's most famous
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: speech or shit.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: No, I'm saying they are they going for that? Then yes,
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: she reveals that she's actually bond and the old monocle
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: lady saying roots. And then not all blondes are dumb,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: not all fat people are jolly. And of course we
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: get comb guy here plaining about something.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: Would I be eating a whole pizza? What's he doing?
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Just being compa guy? And all people aren't all bad drivers?
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: And Grandpa crashes through the wall, and that's the end
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: of that story. That's it finished. What was the point?
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Everyone is now doing naughty shit for the sake of it.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: Homer has got a steak on his feet because why
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: not in Flanners and tell him to meet his feet.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: Hammer says, you can't see me, so I'm not doing
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: anything wrong. Planners thinks, voices, I'm right here. I can't see.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: He thinks he's done well. But then Charmers is wearing
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: a dress with nunchucks. This used to be a small
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: part of me. I was like, you've just it sounds
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: ridiculous to say you've ruined the character, but this kind
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: of shit ruins characters. I don't get. Why did Charmers
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: have to wouldn't it be funny if Charmers. No, we
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: believe Charmers would do this, but.
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: Also I don't know, man, this seems like the kind
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: of thing you would do in the privacy your own
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: home and people you don't have cameras in your home.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: According to this episode is very true. It's not like
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: he was sort of like going to Marti Gras and
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: in his outfit with his nunchucks. Now we can do
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: it in public for this episode, man.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Flanners and concedes, you know what, this is all
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: my fault. You know, I shouldn't have been prying to
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: everyone's lives like this. I didn't want to be a
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: big brother, wanted to be a little sister. Then he asked,
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: how can I make things right? And Homer and He
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: go out and smash out all the cameras. Then it
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: cuts them, destroying them. All the American Oaks reality shows,
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: which were the American oaths and the Queen's watching it,
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: and Prince Charles says, my cat's breath smells like cat's food,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: and that's the end of the episode.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: That is the end of the episode. Yeah, Ned's revelation
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: that he had done wrong, not this is he had
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: done wrong, but this whole system was kind of bad.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: You need to make that, you need to articulate that
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: a little more, and then you could have them actually
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: breaking stuff. It would be sort of like, yeah, I
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: feel better for that.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: So no, that's not a Ned Flanner's voice, but yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: I feel better for because I'm breaking these I suppose
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: I mean them going around breaking stuff. It just felt
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: like out of care, not even out of characters, like
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: but who who pays for all the cameras? Where are
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: the police? So Flanners has the power to say, we're
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: not doing this anymore, specially the cameras. Why don't everyone
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: else just smash the cameras? Correct?
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean at least have a like little payoff
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: gig after to say you're realizing, oh, it's for all
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: those cameras.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Something, yeah, or have them arrested or something, just as
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: a little throwaway goes once once Wigham left that was
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: even never saw the police again? Is that just because
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: they didn't want us to think about the story and go, well,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: we don't have them in episode? They might not think
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: where where are the police? Maybe? Maybe who knows? Who knows?
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: What do we learn? Bomb? So what you learn from
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: the episode, Mister Davis longs have more fun? They do. Indeed,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I learn't never trust a British person. Fuck forward, your
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: names will be all right. There's time for the Guy
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: Davis New Name Championship. They current leader stands at this
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: in first position. Way ahead is Philip Jay Hawkins on
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: twenty four points. In second position. Second position, we have
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Kyle Muldoon and Nathan Briggs both on fifteen, and Mike
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Salter Adam Moorehouse both on twelve. In third position. Take
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: it away. One point goes to ned teen eighty four.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Justin Parker, what's that play on, mister Davis? That's a
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: player on the dystopian classic novel nineteen eighty four.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Brittain by George Orwell gets a shout out in this episode.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: The camera company that Nigel Baker Butcher uses to spy
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: on Springfield is all Well Optics or something like that.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Established in nineteen eighty four.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Should our listeners go and watch that movie or read
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: that book? You certainly read that book.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I mean it's pretty much the ultimate text when it
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: comes to dystopian past, president and future.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, really good.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: There's also a movie that actually came out in nineteen
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: eighty four. It's Grim and Bleak. I saw it with
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: my parents. It was really uncomfortable.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: Two points. Two points goes to I Kurumba and guess
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: what the eye spelled?
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: Eye?
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I can dig it? Pretty clever. Yeah, is Nathan Briggs.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: I mean, we wouldn't think any less of him. We
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: will Brigsyriggy bringing home. He's now outright second on seventeen points.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Well on Brigsy, nice one smart gay.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: But three points goes two eyes on the springfield it's
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Pretzel's Dave McNally. Oh my god, these Pretzels are making
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: me horny.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: So he's now in six points. What on? So Dave
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Pretzel's McNally. That's really good.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: But there's another reason I chose that. I've got to
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: admit it. It's simply so I could.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Go all right, guys, So that is the guy Davis
