- 00:00:07:18 - 00:00:12:17 MAK Welcome back to two MC. It's our weekly podcast I'm MAK. 00:00:12:20 - 00:00:13:22 George I'm George. 00:00:13:28 - 00:00:16:00 MAK You're so not Courtney. 00:00:16:03 - 00:00:19:01 George No, I feel I'm a much better version. 00:00:19:04 - 00:00:26:10 MAK Well, we have a guest host today. Courtney is out sick, and I happened to see this guy in the hallway. 00:00:26:11 - 00:00:27:20 George I showed up to work six. 00:00:27:21 - 00:00:28:09 MAK On his way. 00:00:28:09 - 00:00:30:17 George To a meeting. Someone's more dedicated than Courtney. 00:00:30:18 - 00:00:43:11 MAK Yes. So we have some guests in the studio today. We're going to talk about Marty, and so we'll cut to them. Then we'll come back and let's do a recap of the board meeting. 00:00:43:13 - 00:00:45:11 George Sounds like a great bus ride. 00:00:45:14 - 00:01:13:02 MAK I like it. Okay, we're back with our special guests. We have Jim Gordon, public works director, and Ash Beacher, transit administrator. Yes. Yes. Got them. Okay. We wanted to talk a little bit about Marty. We had an issue last week, and you guys have been working nonstop to rectify the situation. So can you just give us an update on briefly what happened in the last week and where we stand today? 00:01:13:03 - 00:01:36:13 Jim Sure. So we had a our vendor for the Marty service who provided the drivers, the bus maintenance, the attorney for the busses. And they decided last week that they were no longer going to service the contract. And they notified us early in the morning, as well as the drivers that they would no longer have a job and that they were shutting down the service. 00:01:36:15 - 00:01:50:18 Jim So so that was a surprise to us that they were going to do that. We did know that they were going to end the contract pursuant to 180 day timeframe. 00:01:50:20 - 00:01:57:12 MAK So we thought we were working on a march time frame, but it ended up Thursday of last week. 00:01:57:14 - 00:02:30:23 Jim Was it Thursday of last week. So so we immediately started looking at alternative services. So we had a great nonprofit partner in town, the United Way, who was willing to help us with some of the critical needs transportation through their Ride United program, which is which they're still doing this week. Okay. And then what ash and I have been working on is speaking with other companies and working on looking at proposals from those companies to see if they'd be willing to step in and provide service over the next year for us. 00:02:30:24 - 00:02:36:25 MAK Wonderful. So at the board meeting this week, you guys presented to the board some options. 00:02:36:27 - 00:03:03:16 Jim We did present some options to the board and the lowest responsive bidder that each one was slightly different on what they offered, but we recommend it to the board that they allow us to negotiate a contract and execute a contract with MTM transit. So that was approved yesterday. And today we have a meeting with them to begin that process and hopefully get a contract in place in the next couple of days. 00:03:03:18 - 00:03:23:08 MAK That's amazing. So in just a few days, you guys have gotten an awful lot of work done. Ash, can you talk about notifying our writers? Because we were right in the middle of it Thursday, and we used a lot of different ways to do that. Yes. 00:03:23:08 - 00:03:51:25 Ash So communicating with the public, the folks who rely on the system was paramount. First thing we did was we had the Marty app updated with information, letting folks know that unfortunately, there's an interruption in service. We're working as fast as we can to get get the busses back on the road. We had notifications placed at several key locations bus stops, bus shelters where there's a higher ridership. 00:03:52:02 - 00:04:00:04 Ash We posted information online social media, the county website, the Marty page and. 00:04:00:07 - 00:04:21:08 MAK Word of mouth. I think I feel like and with our partners at United Way, I think we were able to get the information out. So it was it was a lot of a lot of work going on behind the scenes. What else? What have I missed? What do you want to what do you want to tell our viewers? 00:04:21:11 - 00:04:39:25 Ash So time frame that that's one of the questions that we're getting quite a bit is when can we expect to see busses back on the road? We are working to get that done as quickly as possible. The aim is to have wheels on the ground next week. So the week of the 19th. 00:04:39:26 - 00:04:40:22 MAK That's incredible. 00:04:40:25 - 00:04:54:05 Ash I think, though, that a more realistic expectation could be on or before the first week of November, which is only a couple of weeks away. Right. 00:04:54:06 - 00:05:01:24 MAK But we'll keep people informed, will utilize the same messages, same way of messaging. And. 00:05:01:26 - 00:05:16:19 MAK I think it's a it's a it's a good story of resiliency. The county really having great relationships with vendors because you've had vendors reach out to you, as well as vendors who have worked with us before. 00:05:16:21 - 00:05:39:15 Jim Yeah. So we two of the vendors, the previous vendor, which was MTM, and the vendor before that, which was MV, they they both put a lot of time and effort into their proposal and, and knowing them and understanding that they absolutely can service the contract. That was very comforting to know that they were willing to do it. But also our relationship with them was good. 00:05:39:15 - 00:05:50:25 Jim We left on good terms. Right? And that's a great way to do business. And it just shows that, yes, if they're willing to come back and work for us again, that they appreciate the support we provided them. 00:05:50:26 - 00:06:15:18 MAK Right. And the bus drivers, I think the bus drivers, they want to work. They they like working with the county. They're not our employees, but they are. You've said this many times. They are the face of Martin County. When our riders get on the bus and they're they're taking people to all these, these things that they need to do, whether it's school or medical or groceries, but the critical needs, critical rides that they're taking. 00:06:15:24 - 00:06:23:00 Jim Yeah, they're commercial drivers, but they're also customer service rep. So they have to wear two hats every time they're they're at work. And they do a great job for us. 00:06:23:01 - 00:06:25:23 MAK Yeah. Anything you guys want to add? 00:06:25:28 - 00:06:29:02 Ash Great. I think we've we've covered covered it all. 00:06:29:03 - 00:06:31:02 MAK We appreciate you being here. Thank you. 00:06:31:03 - 00:06:32:00 Ash Thank you for having us. 00:06:32:01 - 00:06:37:03 MAK Sure, George. That was a great conversation with Ash and Jim about Marty. 00:06:37:07 - 00:06:41:04 George Yeah. I'm always amazed by our professional staff and how they handle the issues. 00:06:41:04 - 00:06:47:16 MAK I know they have made phenomenal progress, and so we will be sharing that information as soon as we get more. 00:06:47:17 - 00:06:49:21 George Yeah, I think we'll be back up soon. Really soon. 00:06:49:22 - 00:06:56:21 MAK Yes. Yeah. Okay. We had a short agenda and a very large board meeting. 00:06:56:23 - 00:06:57:11 George Yes. 00:06:57:12 - 00:06:57:25 MAK Right. 00:06:58:00 - 00:07:00:25 George It was. It was a shortage, but a long meeting. 00:07:00:26 - 00:07:02:07 MAK Yeah. So let's. 00:07:02:07 - 00:07:04:18 George Get after. We didn't even stop for lunch. 00:07:04:20 - 00:07:05:10 MAK That was crazy. 00:07:05:11 - 00:07:09:02 George And that's one of my favorite subjects in school was lunch. And we didn't get to do that here. 00:07:09:03 - 00:07:13:13 MAK I know it was like, 2:00, and all of a sudden I was like, I'm ready for breakfast. 00:07:13:14 - 00:07:14:14 George I was hungry. 00:07:14:19 - 00:07:21:02 MAK Yes, it was a little hangry, so. But we got it all done. A lot of good stuff happened, so let's talk about it. 00:07:21:03 - 00:07:21:26 George Absolutely. 00:07:21:27 - 00:07:27:15 MAK First thing up, you want to take the fun which was public hearing one. 00:07:27:17 - 00:07:29:19 George It was about the moratorium on data centers. 00:07:29:20 - 00:07:32:21 MAK It was. So we had a good discussion about it. 00:07:32:22 - 00:07:36:00 George Yep. We're going to have a great discussion at our next public hearing about it. 00:07:36:06 - 00:07:44:11 MAK Right. So we have to have two public hearings. So they had a good discussion about it. And those are for the the large scale or what they call hyperscale. 00:07:44:12 - 00:07:49:07 George Yeah. Yeah. And state statute. I think it's like 500MHz or something like that. 00:07:49:08 - 00:07:52:03 MAK Maybe 50. There's a five and a zero in it. 00:07:52:05 - 00:07:57:16 George I don't you know, we've had this conversation off when it comes to numbers in math, I trust me. Not so much to you. 00:07:57:18 - 00:07:59:02 MAK I'm not really a math girl. 00:07:59:04 - 00:08:03:27 George New York Courtney. So, you know, which makes it very interesting here at the podcast. 00:08:03:28 - 00:08:28:20 MAK Yes it does. Anyway, the the board reviewed the ordinance and they directed staff on some changes that they want to make coming back for the second public hearing. Like you said, the end of October. Right. Yep. 27. Okay. Next up was the public hearing quasi judicial one. And that was a request for certification of an agricultural enclave pursuant to the Florida Statutes. 00:08:28:23 - 00:08:56:12 MAK So the Florida Statutes, they outline the process for an owner to request an AG on clave. And also the criteria for determining what qualifies something as an enclave. So like I said, this was the second request for this was by Kanner 96th Street, and the board denied the request, updated all the documents that they need to do with that. 00:08:56:12 - 00:08:58:07 MAK All the board stuff. 00:08:58:10 - 00:09:15:01 George Yeah. You know, this is not normally in my wheelhouse. I just kind of learned how to spell enclave for the first time in a long time. So you had enslave. I did. I did read the screen for all you, but. Yeah. No, it was clearly a some interesting dynamics and discussions and opinions and thoughts there. 00:09:15:02 - 00:09:21:16 MAK And I think it was great conversation. Yeah, it's it was a way to learn for me to learn more about, you know, what all is involved in it. 00:09:21:17 - 00:09:22:27 George So yeah. Yeah. Clearly. 00:09:22:28 - 00:09:26:22 MAK Yeah. What else? We had Florida inland navigational district. 00:09:26:23 - 00:09:34:27 George I was they usually come to us and it's just like that big check. But this was the first time in the wild that they haven't just brought a big check. I feel like they weren't out to Mike Kennedy. Loved the big checks. 00:09:34:28 - 00:09:37:01 MAK I think we did a big check. Was it last board meeting? 00:09:37:01 - 00:09:37:27 George Yes we did. 00:09:37:27 - 00:09:38:11 MAK I think so. 00:09:38:12 - 00:09:51:12 George I took a picture just for my mom to see. It was a completely private moment. Mike Kennedy and I a big check. I like and I asked him if he could change it just to my name. No, that's impermanent ink, actually. So no, I yeah. No, it's probably a felony charge at that level. 00:09:51:13 - 00:09:55:24 MAK You know what? I met the guy. I remember the guy from Catch Me If You Can. That movie. 00:09:55:25 - 00:09:56:16 George You met him? 00:09:56:16 - 00:09:58:19 MAK I met him, really? Yeah. 00:09:58:21 - 00:10:04:25 George It was okay. It's a great movie. Yeah, well, do you think I'm like him? I'm gonna just steal the big check and walk out. No, no, I. 00:10:04:25 - 00:10:05:05 MAK Hope not. 00:10:05:05 - 00:10:15:22 George I'm just saying. But they're gonna. They're going to be working on the inlet. I know that's a lot of community input last time, so I think we're going to be seeing a lot more of that. We're going to be seeing a lot more PR or. 00:10:15:22 - 00:10:32:18 MAK Communication, always a lot of conversation about that and dredging the inlet. But, you know, that's by state statute that we do that. We have an inlet management plan that's approved by the state. And it's really important not only for like recreation, but also for our our businesses. 00:10:32:25 - 00:10:53:22 George Well, it's a fun fact that our inlet is a commercial inlet because of our commercial fishing dock authority over there in Port Salerno, run by Butch Olsen and those folks. So, yeah. Well, I am the chief economic officer of the county for Economic development. But yeah, fishing, marine industry, a legacy industry. But yeah, very important to have. I am more aeronautical than nautical. 00:10:53:22 - 00:11:03:14 George I just know you don't want above 15ft, but I could be wrong. I'm sure you're gonna have a lot of comments about what the depth of the inlet is, but that's what I was told. 15ft, the magic number. 00:11:03:14 - 00:11:05:13 MAK But I could be talking to Jessica Garland. 00:11:05:14 - 00:11:11:19 George You know, Jessica was sitting next to me while I was in the lobby, and we were talking about that. And then we talked about County Line Bridge Road, didn't we? 00:11:11:20 - 00:11:17:27 MAK We did. But you know what? Just real quick talking about Jessica. And no, this is not on the screen. No it's not. 00:11:18:00 - 00:11:19:14 George She's amazing. Yeah. She does a. 00:11:19:14 - 00:11:34:05 MAK Great work for our coast. Great work. And they just one I know we've talked about it really briefly, but she just came back from a conference where they were awarded Best Beach Project, and that was for protection of beach protection project. 00:11:34:06 - 00:11:41:19 George You know, we're going to have to start buying some more trophy cases between you guys, Jessica and Nerissa. I mean, we're we're going to run out of places. 00:11:41:19 - 00:11:43:16 MAK I feel like we're doing some good work here at the county. 00:11:43:19 - 00:11:51:02 George You guys, I know you're going to have some announcements. You want some big platinum and gold awards. So we'll like when Courtney gets back from being sick, she can. 00:11:51:03 - 00:11:53:01 MAK Okay. We'll let her tell us about it. Yeah. 00:11:53:02 - 00:11:54:10 George All right. So what do you want to talk about? 00:11:54:10 - 00:11:58:03 MAK County line bridge. County line bridge. This is a huge project for the county. 00:11:58:06 - 00:11:59:01 George Is are important. 00:11:59:02 - 00:12:02:23 MAK Bridges are important. And this one was built in. Do you know? 00:12:02:26 - 00:12:03:09 George No. 00:12:03:10 - 00:12:04:09 MAK I don't have it written there. 00:12:04:09 - 00:12:08:18 George It's not written there. I can't cheat now. I have no idea when that bridge was built. 00:12:08:21 - 00:12:10:28 MAK 1974. 00:12:11:01 - 00:12:15:00 George Yet, no I wasn't. Thanks for bringing that out. Appreciate. I thought we weren't going to talk about our ages. 00:12:15:01 - 00:12:16:16 MAK We are not talking about our ages. 00:12:16:17 - 00:12:18:03 George I was not born in 74. 00:12:18:04 - 00:12:25:02 MAK Okay, so the bridge was built in 1974, so it is past its lifespan. So we've. 00:12:25:02 - 00:12:28:29 George Been good pun their lifespan. Notice that one. Yes, I got that. 00:12:29:00 - 00:12:43:09 MAK So we've been talking about replacing this bridge for a while. And it's it's a very big project. Notifications went out to the community beginning October 6th and the bridge will officially close. 00:12:43:09 - 00:12:48:03 George When I think October 20th, I think I think it's October. 00:12:48:03 - 00:12:48:22 MAK Nice. 00:12:48:22 - 00:12:56:11 George Oh yeah. I wish I could tell you I was reading the notes on the screen, but I wear progressive bifocals, so I don't see it. That mean that means I'm getting. 00:12:56:11 - 00:12:57:13 MAK Older up here. 00:12:57:16 - 00:13:01:00 George Do I really need to let you know what that means? Everyone at home knows what that means. 00:13:01:01 - 00:13:02:24 MAK You read what those do, you have to look up. 00:13:03:00 - 00:13:06:29 George Yeah, well, when you're six foot four, you look up and it's. It helps with the chins. 00:13:07:00 - 00:13:07:13 MAK I always. 00:13:07:13 - 00:13:13:05 George Look up. Yes. Well anyway. All right. So anyway. 00:13:13:07 - 00:13:21:20 MAK Back to the bridge. It's closing. It's in South County. There's a big detour, and people really need to pay attention to it. 00:13:21:20 - 00:13:24:20 George So what is the detour? Do you know that? 00:13:24:21 - 00:13:25:22 MAK Yes. 00:13:25:25 - 00:13:27:02 George Oh, it's right here. 00:13:27:09 - 00:13:28:06 MAK There we go. 00:13:28:08 - 00:13:28:16 George Okay. 00:13:28:17 - 00:13:39:15 MAK So we'll talk about the construction of the bridge is expected to take a year. So we're talking about October of 2027. Right. 00:13:39:17 - 00:13:57:19 George So between Southeast Girl Scout Camp Road and Southeast Island Drive will close completely and remain closed throughout the construction, which is expected to be completed in October of 20. You just said that. Wow. I think there's going to be some editing going on in in this whole thing. There will be. But you know what? We'll make sure it's posted on social media. 00:13:57:20 - 00:13:58:06 George I'm sure you got. 00:13:58:13 - 00:14:10:21 MAK We've already talked about it. We're going to drop down in the show notes. There is a detour map. And just a reminder for people to really pay attention to that. It's probably going to take a couple times before you pull up to the bridge and remember that it's closed. 00:14:10:21 - 00:14:20:07 George I can't tell you the number of times I forget that the Stewart Boat Show is coming up, and then you can't go across the old Roosevelt Bridge. And I'm like, I gotta do the U-turn for the third time this week. 00:14:20:08 - 00:14:22:24 MAK Yes, you should pay more attention to your traffic. 00:14:22:25 - 00:14:25:05 George You're starting to sound like my wife, Mary Stokes. 00:14:25:06 - 00:14:40:14 MAK Yeah. So anyway, we're going to drop that information down in the show notes. I do want to add the note that Fire Rescue has established a temporary station on the other side of the bridge so that they can facilitate, you know. 00:14:40:16 - 00:14:42:15 George Rescue services. Yeah. No. That's great. 00:14:42:16 - 00:14:51:09 MAK That's great. We've worked with all the different departments and municipalities and such. So we are ready to go and that's it. 00:14:51:10 - 00:14:53:11 George All right. What else you want to talk about? 00:14:53:17 - 00:14:56:27 MAK Senior games. Are you old enough to be in the senior games George. 00:14:56:28 - 00:14:59:17 George Know how old you have to be to be in the senior games? 00:14:59:19 - 00:15:00:07 MAK I think you. 00:15:00:07 - 00:15:04:06 George Have to. You have to look at the notes because I know I'm not old enough. 00:15:04:08 - 00:15:06:06 MAK Me neither. Weird. 00:15:06:08 - 00:15:12:06 George Yes. And some of us are a little bit more accurate with our age than others, I think. I know, you know. 00:15:12:07 - 00:15:18:07 MAK Anyway, senior games are coming up. I think they start, like the 16th or something. I don't know if you can read that anywhere. 00:15:18:09 - 00:15:23:04 George They start. Let's take a look. They October 16th to the 24th. Yeah. 00:15:23:05 - 00:15:23:20 MAK Talk to me. 00:15:23:20 - 00:15:30:22 George About what? Well, I am a huge pickleball fan. I am the big deal on the pickleball court. He's a big. I am a big deal. Yeah. 00:15:30:28 - 00:15:35:10 MAK There's pickleball, there's golf, there's swimming, there's basketball shooting. 00:15:35:11 - 00:15:46:18 George You know, one of my very good friends in pickleball actually medaled at the Martin County Senior Games. What? His name I don't. His name is Bruce. And he got the gold medal. But he was like in the age 75 bracket. 00:15:46:19 - 00:15:48:01 MAK Oh, yeah. He's way up there. 00:15:48:01 - 00:15:50:08 George Yeah. But you know what? 00:15:50:11 - 00:15:53:04 MAK When you medal the senior games, you go to the state. 00:15:53:06 - 00:15:54:24 George He went to Tampa, he went. 00:15:54:24 - 00:15:56:16 MAK To Florida games. That's a. 00:15:56:16 - 00:16:02:28 George That's a big he won. The team won. He went to Tampa with his his partner. Yeah absolutely. So. Wow. 00:16:03:02 - 00:16:06:04 MAK But maybe we could get him in here to talk about that. It would be cool. 00:16:06:05 - 00:16:17:04 George Yeah. We'll see. Yeah. See? I don't know. We'll see. And then do you want to talk about the Leave No Trace Behind award that Hutchinson's spawn resort got? Yes. I don't. This is something I heard that I read about that. 00:16:17:10 - 00:16:17:18 MAK You did. 00:16:17:18 - 00:16:21:06 George Did you read it? It wasn't just here on the screen. I actually read about it somewhere on Facebook. 00:16:21:07 - 00:16:24:24 MAK I think that's because I pushed out a press release. Did you and I think, discover Martin's talk. 00:16:24:25 - 00:16:27:13 George This is in your annual review, by the way. Yeah, yeah. 00:16:27:13 - 00:16:38:26 MAK So Leave No Trace has designated the Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa as a gold standard hospitality location. It's pretty big stuff for our little. 00:16:38:28 - 00:16:49:04 George Yeah. It's amazing it is. Ever eaten there? Yes. Amazing food. I go to conferences every once in a while there. Yep. I get a little nervous on the staircase with the all glass. 00:16:49:06 - 00:16:50:06 MAK You know, we fall through. 00:16:50:08 - 00:16:58:22 George Well, I'm more scared, and that's much if I fall through. But if I land on, like, the sand sculpture, like, you know, it took a lot of time to put that. That's a lot of glue. 00:16:58:29 - 00:17:00:06 MAK To see a picture of that. 00:17:00:07 - 00:17:02:25 George It's me falling off the staircase. Wow. 00:17:02:26 - 00:17:05:05 MAK That's not to the sand castle. Like. 00:17:05:07 - 00:17:16:06 George Well, I'm always there, always so nice there. And I, you know, it's the one place I don't valet because I like to walk along the, the, the beach, sidewalk there and so forth. But, yeah. No, it's a great place. I've stayed there a couple of times. 00:17:16:07 - 00:17:22:05 MAK Really nice. So they're implementing the Leave No Trace principles. We will also drop that stuff down in the show notes. 00:17:22:07 - 00:17:22:21 George Awesome. 00:17:22:22 - 00:17:24:10 MAK What else do we have? 00:17:24:13 - 00:17:27:10 George I don't know. Oh I'm sorry Courtney. 00:17:27:12 - 00:17:34:06 MAK That's okay. We are going to drop. We have a bunch of cool events coming up from like, well, Pets on Parade. That's always. 00:17:34:07 - 00:17:36:29 George Who doesn't love Pets on Parade? I'm always in the lobby when that's happened. 00:17:36:29 - 00:17:38:11 MAK I know, I feel like maybe you should. 00:17:38:11 - 00:17:52:25 George Get in. And I've been here for 15 years and 15 years. I haven't gotten a pet, but I play with all the pets. I'm not trying. You have the Master Gardener thing coming up. I know I ran into IFAs at the right before the mean. They also got a proclamation at the last meeting. We didn't talk. About it. 00:17:52:26 - 00:18:12:18 George Was it for hours? I always get those confused IFAs for it. Yes. Did you see the belt buckles? Owen had a. There's a kid, this young man named Owen who had a belt buckle. He was the number one guinea pig breeder. And he's like, my guinea pig was smaller than my belt buckle. I was very jealous. And I also think the rodeo is this weekend. 00:18:12:20 - 00:18:14:10 George The Indian Town Rodeo, I think is okay. 00:18:14:11 - 00:18:16:13 MAK I will look and. Oh, yeah. 00:18:16:15 - 00:18:18:23 George Speaking of belt buckles. 00:18:18:25 - 00:18:19:05 MAK Wow. 00:18:19:12 - 00:18:24:01 George Would you would you ever get on a bull or a buck and Bronco? Would you do that? 00:18:24:02 - 00:18:30:23 MAK No, I would get on like an old horse that just kind of not even trots, like, kind of. 00:18:30:29 - 00:18:34:19 George I always wanted to be the tractor guy that, like, clears the the the arena. 00:18:34:20 - 00:18:35:06 MAK They drag there. 00:18:35:08 - 00:18:51:05 George I always think that's a cool little like, you know, gig, like weekend gig, you know, you know, you know, someone's playing. You think my tractor sexy in that while you're while you're, you know, plowing around and all that. And then what else do we have? We've unlimited play at Sailfish Sands. Yeah. Oh look at. Did you see the. 00:18:51:08 - 00:19:10:21 George I just ruined the audio. What a shameless plug. Nancy Johnson would be so proud of me. The sailfish chance. Also, we're selling new. I don't know what these are. Cups which are tumblers, wonderful tumblers that I had to purchase one because, you know. But yeah. No sailfish. If you. Have you been there? Have you? I know you guys did something remote. 00:19:10:24 - 00:19:14:09 MAK Don't you remember when we were dressed in the bee suits? 00:19:14:12 - 00:19:19:13 George That's right. You guys didn't do that? Yeah, I think the outtakes were better than the full podcast. 00:19:19:14 - 00:19:23:21 MAK They were, because we kept missing the ball. Right? Bob was there and he was trying. 00:19:23:22 - 00:19:24:11 George For Bob. 00:19:24:13 - 00:19:26:09 MAK Keep the camera steady, Bob. 00:19:26:09 - 00:19:28:10 George And because he was laughing. 00:19:28:11 - 00:19:35:09 MAK Hold this big poster board that had, like, our script on it. And then we were. Yes, right. We were trying to hit the ball. Anyway. 00:19:35:10 - 00:19:39:25 George All I gotta tell you, that was well worth the cost to watch that. That was it was well worth. 00:19:39:27 - 00:19:41:29 MAK So if you missed it, you know, it's a good buzz. 00:19:42:05 - 00:19:44:05 George And then what else we have, we have we. 00:19:44:07 - 00:19:45:00 MAK Have cool stuff. 00:19:45:01 - 00:20:04:16 George Fall. Adopt a road cleanup. Yep. That's fine I know leadership Martin. They do that. They've got Indian Street. I've gotten some emails on that. Yep. What else can we do? What else you want? I want to thank you for having me. Your co-host. I know John Mayall was your favorite guest, and I've never been asked to be a guest on this show, but I went right from guest. 00:20:04:16 - 00:20:18:03 George Right to co-host. I think maybe we should do, like, a little, you know, viewer vote. Maybe we should keep Courtney or kick Courtney off. Maybe that's what we ought to do. You know, like like survivor or like, you know, the island has spoken. Maybe. 00:20:18:04 - 00:20:27:19 MAK I do know that Courtney has never tapped her fingers on the table making loud noises and the guy's ears. Well, but you know. 00:20:27:21 - 00:20:41:14 George I'm special, and I'm sure the comment section of the YouTube video are going to mention a lot about it, so maybe, you know, but yeah, no, there's a lot of good stuff going on in Martin County. It's a it's a great time to be down here. It is. So it's cooling off a little bit. October 15th the trade winds will start to shift. 00:20:41:15 - 00:20:55:10 George Is that it. That's when that's the official date. The trade was you know I was watching you know. Do you know the difference between fallen autumn. Oh. There isn't a difference. Good answer. So there you go. But October 15th and then we got the air show coming up in November, which I know you guys are going to talk about. 00:20:55:11 - 00:21:13:14 MAK We will talk about the air show I heard about I heard from them today. Actually. And I know last year they didn't have jets. And a lot of folks are asking, are there jets? Yeah. Last year there were some extenuating circumstances with the military. There are jets. You heard it here first. Jets. Jets will be at the air show. 00:21:13:15 - 00:21:14:19 George There will be jets. There will. 00:21:14:19 - 00:21:17:10 MAK Be good times. There will be fireworks. There'll be a drone show. 00:21:17:12 - 00:21:33:17 George I always like a cold air show. I like it a little colder, you know, maybe a little hot cocoa. I'm watching the jet, you know, cool and dry. I think the air show likes a little bit warmer for better, for beer sales for them, I think. But, you know, I, I can drink a beer when it's cold, too, but I have to work, so I'm not I'm not drinking. 00:21:33:21 - 00:21:35:12 George You can't talk about beer on a podcast. 00:21:35:13 - 00:21:35:23 MAK I don't. 00:21:35:23 - 00:21:45:19 George Know why. It's not like I'm endorsing beer. I'm just talking about here. That's fair. I don't drink, don't drink. Kids, if you're underage, don't drink. But there you go. That's good. And don't drink and drive either. So does that make. 00:21:45:20 - 00:21:55:18 MAK Up for it? It makes up for it. I heard there is something else. You mentioned. Fireworks and drone show. And he goes inauguration. Something else. Know what? The air show. But he wouldn't tell us. 00:21:55:18 - 00:22:04:02 George It's like, oh, I have no, they don't tell me. They don't tell me. It's probably some truck that's going to burn up the entire runway. Or, you know, the wall of fire is pretty impressive. 00:22:04:04 - 00:22:05:19 MAK Have you ever seen the wall of fire? 00:22:05:20 - 00:22:20:22 George I have, I actually think that's the only reason why my father in law comes to visit me. So he can go see the wall of fire. It has nothing to do with visiting myself or my wife. So. Yeah, but no. And then we've got inauguration coming up to. We've got some. We've got a new commissioner coming in. 00:22:20:24 - 00:22:21:19 MAK Collins. Collins. 00:22:21:19 - 00:22:22:17 George Yep, yep. 00:22:22:19 - 00:22:24:08 MAK That's November 17th. 00:22:24:13 - 00:22:36:06 George Yeah I think that's the date. So that's got a lot a lot of change a lot. And we got Election Day coming up. So make sure you vote kids you know. Wow. Being from Illinois. You always vote early and vote often. So you know, as many times as you can. 00:22:36:08 - 00:22:37:01 MAK Only vote one. 00:22:37:07 - 00:22:43:29 George I know we know Vicki Davis is amazing, isn't she? She sure she knows. She never lets me vote twice. It's really bad. 00:22:44:01 - 00:22:50:01 MAK So you know what we did? I don't know if you watched it, but we did. Oh, maybe we haven't put it out yet. No. It's coming. 00:22:50:02 - 00:22:50:17 George It's coming. 00:22:50:18 - 00:22:55:03 MAK Yeah. Our podcast, we did a tour of the election office. We learned so much. 00:22:55:04 - 00:22:57:21 George That's an incredible place. Did you get to meet Carrie Anderson? 00:22:57:21 - 00:22:59:29 MAK We met Carrie Anderson, the amazing Carrie. 00:23:00:00 - 00:23:00:28 George She's a force. 00:23:00:29 - 00:23:01:07 MAK Yes. 00:23:01:13 - 00:23:03:08 George Don't ever try to impress kids with her. 00:23:03:10 - 00:23:21:04 MAK And do you know, you can, like, the public can go in there, take tours. Not right now. Because they're right. They're a little busy, but you can go in there and take tours. You can learn more about the election process. And we even got to go like back in their store room and see, like the old. 00:23:21:05 - 00:23:27:24 George Did you get to see the old model of the Capitol? Yes. And then after the tour you can go to like the pizza place down the street. 00:23:27:26 - 00:23:31:02 MAK We didn't do that. But did you know they have an election dog? 00:23:31:04 - 00:23:34:01 George They have an election dog? Yeah. What breed is that? Dog? 00:23:34:06 - 00:23:37:06 MAK It's furry. It's furry and little. 00:23:37:07 - 00:23:39:25 George Furry and little is the breed. So it's a Chihuahua? 00:23:39:27 - 00:23:42:24 MAK No. It's bigger. I don't know what it was. It was like. 00:23:43:01 - 00:23:47:27 George Well, it's got to be kind of like an American breed, right? It can't be like a, you know, a French bulldog. 00:23:48:01 - 00:23:49:07 MAK It wasn't a French bulldog. 00:23:49:08 - 00:23:55:28 George Because that wouldn't be very patriotic. No. Maybe an American bulldog. Wasn't that a real breed. 00:23:56:01 - 00:24:00:25 MAK American Terrier? But that wasn't it either. Wow. It had brown. 00:24:00:26 - 00:24:05:27 George If this was jeopardy, you know, you win. It had brown hair, was a hound. 00:24:05:28 - 00:24:06:16 MAK Maybe it was. 00:24:06:20 - 00:24:07:02 George Like a little. 00:24:07:02 - 00:24:08:05 MAK Wiener, though. 00:24:08:08 - 00:24:17:04 George I don't know my look. I'm like a lot of people. My nasals are completely full. So we got to be very careful how you say that on this podcast. 00:24:17:04 - 00:24:19:02 MAK I think that's. 00:24:19:05 - 00:24:21:20 George All right. We don't need to go into spelling. Okay. Anyway. It's okay. 00:24:21:22 - 00:24:23:22 MAK We don't know. We're going to find out what kind of. 00:24:23:24 - 00:24:33:14 George And I'm looking forward to all the, all the I'm looking forward to it. Now I get to see you guys on. Well you're almost like on parade over on the. Yeah there you go. So that'd be awesome. 00:24:33:15 - 00:24:35:03 MAK Okay, we have to wrap this up. 00:24:35:04 - 00:24:37:15 George Oh, well, this is for Bob to edit. Are you kidding me? 00:24:37:16 - 00:24:41:07 MAK Yes, you. We would ask you. First of all, we thank you for tuning in. 00:24:41:08 - 00:24:43:02 George Okay. Thanks for tuning in. 00:24:43:03 - 00:24:45:02 MAK And then we want them to. 00:24:45:07 - 00:24:46:24 George Like, follow. 00:24:46:26 - 00:24:47:06 MAK Comment. 00:24:47:09 - 00:24:49:08 George Comment, share. 00:24:49:09 - 00:24:51:17 MAK And you can watch. Listen. 00:24:51:18 - 00:25:00:01 George That's right. Come on down to the public. You know, to the public meetings. Give your three minutes a comment. Yep. Tell how much you like Martha Ann and me more than Courtney. 00:25:00:04 - 00:25:01:12 MAK Thanks for being here, guys. 00:25:01:13 - 00:25:21:26 George Bye bye. 00:25:21:29 - 00:25:25:27 George Oh, I can't hit this. This is the problem. Should we do this? Can you hear it? Can you hear this? 00:25:25:28 - 00:25:26:17 MAK Yes. 00:25:26:20 - 00:25:30:26 George Is this gonna make the outtake? I'm nervous.
