Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning. As we cross the middle of the week,
- 0:08Speaker 1: I hope that you are enjoying a week in the
- 0:12Speaker 1: presence of God, because God is there in your life
- 0:16Speaker 1: every day. He's reaching out to you, whether you listen
- 0:20Speaker 1: to Him, whether you notice Him, whether you respond to
- 0:23Speaker 1: Him and build and grow your relationship with Him. He's
- 0:26Speaker 1: there waiting, encouraging you to grow in Him.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Because as we heard yesterday in the Psalm we looked
- 0:35Speaker 1: at yesterday, our soul is thirsty for God.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Well, each day this week we're looking at a different
- 0:42Speaker 1: psalm out of the Bible, and these Psalms really reflect
- 0:48Speaker 1: a personal relationship with God and a connection with God.
- 0:53Speaker 1: As we look at these Psalms that connect us with God, uh,
- 0:57Speaker 1: they really are reflecting the heart of King David, who
- 1:00Speaker 1: wrote most of the Psalms.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Today I want to look at a psalm that really
- 1:05Speaker 1: is about the goodness of God.
- 1:09Speaker 1: As David sees it in his life, here's what he says.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Psalm 65.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Praise is due to you, O God in Zion.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And to you shall vows be performed, O you who
- 1:26Speaker 1: hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Interesting way for him to refer to God, isn't it, oh,
- 1:37Speaker 1: you who hear prayer.
- 1:38Speaker 1: He doesn't always answer it the way you want him to,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but he's paying attention.
- 1:43Speaker 1: He cares about the things that are on your heart.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come.
- 1:52Speaker 1: When iniquities prevail against me, when people treat me badly,
- 1:57Speaker 1: you atone for our transgressions. Blessed is the one you
- 2:03Speaker 1: choose and bring near to dwell in your courts.
- 2:09Speaker 1: David's thinking of himself, how blessed he is that God
- 2:13Speaker 1: has reached out to him and brought him near to
- 2:17Speaker 1: God in God's courts. He says, We shall be satisfied
- 2:22Speaker 1: with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple.
- 2:27Speaker 1: By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God
- 2:32Speaker 1: of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of
- 2:36Speaker 1: the earth and of the farthest seas.
- 2:41Speaker 1: The one who by his strength established the mountains, being
- 2:46Speaker 1: girded with might, who stills the roaring of the seas,
- 2:51Speaker 1: the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples,
- 2:55Speaker 1: so that those who dwell at the ends of the
- 2:58Speaker 1: earth are in awe at your signs.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Have you ever stood at the edge of a raging
- 3:05Speaker 1: ocean when there's a storm and just thought, wow.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Or have you ever gone then on another day and
- 3:13Speaker 1: just seen it so serene and peaceful and thought of
- 3:17Speaker 1: the beauty of what you're looking at? Have you gone
- 3:20Speaker 1: up into the mountains and just looked at the size
- 3:24Speaker 1: of that mass of rock that's there and the beautiful
- 3:28Speaker 1: shapes and the trees on it and the snow sometimes
- 3:32Speaker 1: and thought this is so awesome, so incredible.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Those feelings you have you can direct towards God, the
- 3:39Speaker 1: one who made those things. He goes on to say, You, God,
- 3:46Speaker 1: make the going out of the morning. When the morning
- 3:49Speaker 1: goes forth, what is that sunrise, right? You make the
- 3:53Speaker 1: going out of the morning and the evening.
- 3:57Speaker 1: To shout for joy.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Sometimes you walk out your door and you look up
- 4:02Speaker 1: at the sky and just a smile spreads across your mouth,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and you want to call everybody around you in your
- 4:08Speaker 1: in in your home and say, come look at the sky,
- 4:12Speaker 1: how amazing. That's God who put that there.
- 4:17Speaker 1: You visit the earth, God, and water it. You greatly
- 4:21Speaker 1: enrich it.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The river of God is full of water.
- 4:29Speaker 1: What a beautiful picture of how God blesses us and
- 4:32Speaker 1: meets us in life. The river of God is full
- 4:37Speaker 1: of water. You provide their grain, for so you have
- 4:41Speaker 1: prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges,
- 4:47Speaker 1: softening it with showers and blessing its growth. You crown
- 4:52Speaker 1: the year with your bounty.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: wilderness overflow. The hills gird themselves with joy. The meadows
- 5:06Speaker 1: clothe themselves with flocks. The valleys deck themselves with grain.
- 5:12Speaker 1: They shout and sing together for joy.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It's a change of perspective, isn't it, not to just
- 5:20Speaker 1: look out and say, oh, look at that field full
- 5:22Speaker 1: of grain, but to look out and say, God has
- 5:26Speaker 1: blessed us.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Grow your personal relationship with God.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I'm John North.
