- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:42Hi, it's Adam here. And in this hypnosis recording,
- 0:45you're going to be listening to a weight loss hypnosis session
- 0:49that was created for a client that.
- 0:52In their childhood. There were lots of rules and
- 0:55restrictions and even shaming about what they should eat, have
- 0:59to eat if they weigh too much. And they did a lot of sport when
- 1:03they were at school, but part of those sports meant that they
- 1:06were publicly humiliated if they were overweight when they
- 1:11weren't overweight. So because of that, this client
- 1:14had really intense emotional reactions to feeling like they
- 1:19were missing out or that they should be a certain way.
- 1:23And what this hypnosis session does is also deal with the other
- 1:27side of that. A lot of people that grew up
- 1:29like that have what's called a polarity response, where because
- 1:33they were deprived something at one point in their life, they
- 1:35want to make up for it and they've linked food.
- 1:39And eating with. Pleasure, and there's a fallacy
- 1:42there sometimes. I've seen that with alcohol, but
- 1:45also with food, and that is that if a little bit is pleasurable,
- 1:48then even more is even more pleasurable without realizing
- 1:52that you actually get diminishing returns that
- 1:54actually you get most of the pleasure.
- 1:57In the first. Amount and then it reduces with
- 2:00each and every additional in it. You know, it's the marginal.
- 2:04Utility, they would. Call that.
- 2:06In economics. So it also is the case from this
- 2:11perspective, but if you've got an ingrained belief system that
- 2:14food is pleasure and to not have food, you're depriving yourself.
- 2:18You can see. Why someone would binge or
- 2:21overindulge? So too much control is out of
- 2:24control, and no restrictions at all can lead to bingeing and
- 2:28kind of excess, and that's not good either.
- 2:31So we want to find the Goldilocks zone of the right
- 2:35amount. Of.
- 2:37Boundaries and reductions without feeling like pleasure
- 2:42and happiness is being reduced. So what this hypnosis session
- 2:46does is it utilizes 3 different options, broad options and the
- 2:52first option is to do exactly. What they?
- 2:54Have been doing which really is to link pleasure with food and
- 2:58have lots of it. But that comes at a cost and it
- 3:01will have a cost of probably unhappiness for the future,
- 3:04which is ironic if they are linking pleasure with food.
- 3:08But in eating that way it could lead to.
- 3:11Less. Happiness in the future that
- 3:14gets even more extreme as years go by because you know, how
- 3:18happy would someone be if they had diabetic ulcers or
- 3:22amputations or heart disease? Like probably not that happy at
- 3:27all. So that what's the future of the
- 3:30status quo? The second is the future of
- 3:34rigidity and rules and control and restrictions and not allow
- 3:38this. You can't have that.
- 3:40And what this client intuitively knew, and I could see it when I
- 3:43was doing the hypnosis session, I could see it in their facial
- 3:45reactions, is that actually they didn't like the restriction and
- 3:50the deprivation. And that would mean that they
- 3:52would break those good intentions, but that were
- 3:56unsustainable. Nobody wants to be miserable so
- 4:00that one day they're happy. You have to enjoy the journey
- 4:04and the destination and that's really what Door 3 is.
- 4:08Door 3. Is that they get to enjoy what
- 4:11they're doing, they reduce the amount that they're eating, but
- 4:16even that could give them pleasure if they feel more in
- 4:18control of their life. So this is really about the idea
- 4:22of reducing particularly refined carbohydrates, because refined
- 4:27carbohydrates, quite often the body treats them more like a
- 4:31drug than a food. There's this.
- 4:33Element of compulsion and addiction to them, but they're
- 4:37not really that pleasurable. You know, a lot of them it just
- 4:40processed foods with flavourings that have the perception of
- 4:44pleasure, but they're not that pleasurable.
- 4:47They're more what I would call gratification, which is a a kind
- 4:51of a. A diluted.
- 4:52Form of pleasure Real pleasure would come from the pride of
- 4:56accomplishing their ideal goal of feeling more in control of
- 5:00their life and filling with more energy and sleeping well that's
- 5:03what would actually give them happiness and that's what door 3
- 5:07leads to so if you feel like you've struggled with weight
- 5:11loss and this particular client definitely had that belief
- 5:14system that they'd struggled with it then I think you're
- 5:17going to get value from this session because.
- 5:19It's designed for. Someone that has struggled with
- 5:22weight, struggled with rules, struggled with diet.
- 5:25So if you can relate to that, I think you will benefit from this
- 5:27session. It was created for an individual
- 5:31that had a very specific upbringing.
- 5:34Some of these suggestions were perfect for them and may not be
- 5:37quite right for you. So if you do like the idea of a
- 5:40bespoke session where you're working with me directly and we
- 5:44build the session around your specific circumstances and
- 5:46goals, then look for the link in the description to book that
- 5:50free consultation. Call and we'll have a chat.
- 5:53For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where.
- 5:56You won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 6:42Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 6:53slow, calm, relaxing breath. And as you exhale, feel a
- 7:06wonderful sense of letting go, of breathing in relaxation and
- 7:16exhaling tension. And you can scan your body for
- 7:23any clues of stress, worries, frustrations, and just allow
- 7:34those sensations to leave your body in that outward breath.
- 7:43So the deeper you breathe, the more relaxation you're breathing
- 7:48in. And as you exhale, the more of
- 7:53that tension you're releasing, taking you deeper and deeper,
- 8:05relaxed. And I want to imagine what it
- 8:10would be like to imagine scrolling through the photo
- 8:16section on your phone, maybe in the favourites folder.
- 8:24And I want you to imagine scrolling through until you see
- 8:27a picture of a secluded beach in Thailand, maybe on a day where
- 8:36there was clouds in the sky and the waves were slightly
- 8:45restless, on a private secluded beach.
- 8:51Not many people at all. And I want you to use the power
- 8:59of your imagination to imagine how good it would be to imagine
- 9:06jumping into the photo and finding yourself there on that
- 9:13relaxing private beach, and imagine you're wearing whatever
- 9:22clothing would be suitable for that beach.
- 9:30Imagine looking down and seeing those white sandy beaches just
- 9:40there, enabling you to feel the softness and maybe there's a
- 9:45breeze and maybe you can hear the waves breaking on the shore.
- 9:53And I want you to connect without feeling of pure
- 9:58relaxation, the pleasure of the moment.
- 10:08And I want a seed of an idea to be planted in your mind that
- 10:14here, in this moment, surrounded by nature, the waves, the sky,
- 10:20the sand and the beach, the pleasure can come from many
- 10:27places. And although food it can be
- 10:31pleasurable, more often than not pleasure can derive from
- 10:40decisions, choices. Being mindfully present in the
- 10:47moment and just noticing is also a wonderful source of pleasure,
- 10:58and I want you to imagine a comfortable lounger here on this
- 11:02beach. Imagine relaxing on the lounger
- 11:07as I count downwards from 12:50, and with each descending number
- 11:14you will feel like you're drifting off into a dreamlike
- 11:18sleep. There on that lounger, on that
- 11:23beach, that beach in your imagination, taking you deeper
- 11:31and deeper. Relaxed.
- 11:34That's it. Breathing in, relaxation,
- 11:39exhaling tension, 10, just allowing your eyelids to feel
- 11:44heavier and heavier. And then nine, your forehead
- 11:51feeling like it's letting go and releasing any tension.
- 11:56Just soften those muscles, enabling you to go deeper and
- 12:02deeper, relax. That's it.
- 12:06And then 8, just focus on your jaw, all the muscles from your
- 12:11ear to your chin around your mouth.
- 12:14Just feel like. Your jaw is loosening.
- 12:18You can. Breathe in deeper from your
- 12:20nose. That's it, Deeper and deeper,
- 12:26relaxed and then six. Just focus now on your neck and
- 12:31your shoulders as you imagine any stress and tension just like
- 12:39crystals of ice there on that beach fused into your muscle
- 12:44tissue. But allow the warmth and the
- 12:49sunshine you melt away any tension in your neck and your
- 12:54shoulders as six turns to five. That's it.
- 12:58Arms feeling limp, loose and heavy.
- 13:04That's it. So relax by your side on that
- 13:06lounger and then five goes to four and just feel like your
- 13:14internal organs are all relaxing.
- 13:19Your heart relaxes, your lungs relax, and most importantly,
- 13:26your stomach relaxes. As you imagine your stomach
- 13:31contracting, getting smaller and smaller with each and every
- 13:38breath, just imagine is that as you think of your stomach
- 13:43shrinking, cravings to eat anything will also become
- 13:51reduced. Some things are intuitive.
- 13:59When you're in a hot climate, you wear less.
- 14:04In a cold place, you wear more. And when your stomach is
- 14:09smaller, you'll desire less food.
- 14:14It's as simple as that. And then four goes to three.
- 14:19Now focus on your gut and just feel that your gut is releasing
- 14:25any anxiety, any worries. There is nothing you need to be
- 14:31or do or have right now. You could just go with the flow
- 14:39and allow words to create meanings, meanings to create
- 14:44ideas. An idea is to build new neural
- 14:48pathways that create change. That's it.
- 14:52And then two down into your legs as you allow your legs to feel
- 14:56limp, loose, and heavy. That's it.
- 15:00And then one all the way down to your toes.
- 15:06Release any tension in your feet and feel that ripple of
- 15:11relaxation going all the way up to the top of your head and then
- 15:14down to your fingertips as you imagine drifting off into a
- 15:19dream like sleep where your physical body is still there on
- 15:23that relaxing lounger, but you and your imagination are now
- 15:31standing on the beach by your side.
- 15:34And just lift up your arm to feel how relaxed your arm feels.
- 15:38Limp, loose and heavy. Let it drop.
- 15:41Down by your side. And then I want you to imagine
- 15:46seeing somewhere nearby a table. And on that table is a puzzle, a
- 15:55jigsaw puzzle, 1000 pieces. And you're not sure what it is,
- 16:00but there is a logical, analytical part of your mind
- 16:05that likes to solve problems. And right now this puzzle is a
- 16:11problem. And you can tell just from the
- 16:16different colours and shapes and styles that this is a puzzle of
- 16:22you. One year from now, I want you to
- 16:28get a sense that you haven't made the picture yet.
- 16:32You just have a sense that that is what you were doing.
- 16:35So allow that logical, analytical part to start
- 16:39piercing the puzzle together as there is one final part, a part
- 16:47that wants pleasure for you, a part that wants happiness for
- 16:51you. And allow that part to continue
- 16:55walking down the beach, looking back and seeing the logical
- 16:59part, working on the puzzle and seeing the conscious part fast
- 17:05asleep on a lounger. But if I'm now talking to the
- 17:10part that wants pleasure and happiness, let me know about
- 17:14nodding your head. That's it.
- 17:20So carry on walking walking down that beach until you can see 3
- 17:32doorways. These doorways aren't connected
- 17:37to buildings, they're just there on the beach.
- 17:41A door frame and a door portals to your future.
- 17:48And we're going to visit three different futures, a direct
- 17:55consequence of three different unconscious strategies.
- 18:01So imagine standing in front of door #1 and door #1 represents
- 18:10the status quo, your current habits, behaviours, the
- 18:16trajectory of your life as it is.
- 18:21I'll countdown from 5 to 1 and you'll imagine.
- 18:24Walking. Through the door into your
- 18:27future. But the moment you walk through,
- 18:30you will see yourself like you or someone else.
- 18:34You will be the observer, no longer in your body but watching
- 18:38you in your body. 5 putting your hand on the hand or 4 turning
- 18:44the hand or three opening the door, 2 walking through the door
- 18:51and one closing the door behind you.
- 18:53And this is life carrying on as it is.
- 19:01I want you to see yourself for the next few weeks and months
- 19:04doing what you have been doing and maybe, maybe it's craving
- 19:12what gives you pleasure. See yourself with thoughts
- 19:16popping into your head and see yourself acting on those
- 19:21thoughts. See yourself eating something
- 19:25savoury and then see yourself craving something sweet.
- 19:31See yourself being offered or tempted with things and finding
- 19:36it rude or impossible to say no. And I want you to see as the
- 19:43weeks turn into months. What impact?
- 19:47This is having on your confidence, your health and your
- 19:51body shape. See all the things you know that
- 19:55will happen. See yourself feeling like you
- 20:01have to have food, not having enough time to make anything,
- 20:06Ordering something on an app. And then when it arrives, eating
- 20:11it, but then still feeling like you need something else.
- 20:18And if you can see this future taking you to who you will be
- 20:25one year from now, let me know by nodding your head.
- 20:30And maybe you see yourself at the same weight that you
- 20:35currently are. Or maybe you see yourself
- 20:39heavier, but I want you to pay attention not to the weight, but
- 20:45to the happiness. Because if this version of you
- 20:50is happier than you are now, then this is the right strategy
- 20:55for you. Because if you've been eating
- 21:00for pleasure, then surely a whole year of eating for
- 21:05pleasure should mean you're happier than ever before.
- 21:11And I want you to evaluate how happy that version of you is one
- 21:15year from now by prioritising gratification and pleasure and
- 21:21deriving it from food. Now if you can see that future
- 21:26version of you and get a sense of their happiness levels, let
- 21:30me know by nodding your head. Let's see, just see that future
- 21:45version of you one year from now.
- 21:49That's in. And then it's time to go back
- 21:54through that same door. And door #2 is all about strict
- 22:04rules control, high standards, impossibly high standards,
- 22:12standards. You know you will fail if you
- 22:17can imagine yourself in front of door #2.
- 22:20Let me know by nodding your head and I'll countdown from 5:00 to
- 22:291:00. And just imagine walking through
- 22:31door #2. This is a future of control and
- 22:36rules, discipline and willpower. Five handle on the door, 4
- 22:46turning the handle, 3 opening the door, 2 walking through the
- 22:51door, and one closing the door behind you.
- 22:55And then see yourself with a mindset of rigidity and control.
- 23:06I want you to see that perhaps for a few days, maybe even a few
- 23:12weeks, see yourself eliminating sugar, eliminating bread, see
- 23:21yourself being more active. But maybe you get a sense that
- 23:26a. Struggle.
- 23:27Is taking place. That version of you feels
- 23:32conflicted. I want you to see in this
- 23:36future. You take 2 steps forward and.
- 23:39Sometimes 2 steps back, you're making progress but then feeling
- 23:45frustrated. Highs and lows, yo yoing up and
- 23:55down. And there's a part of you that
- 24:00feels like in order to lose weight, it has to be a struggle.
- 24:05It has to be painful, it has to be unpleasant.
- 24:11And if there's a part of you that believes that, let me know
- 24:13by nodding your head. And I want you to see a year of
- 24:26living that way. What the likely weight, body
- 24:31shape, and happiness is that if you had to do it by control and
- 24:37coercion and force, maybe you lost some weight, but maybe you
- 24:44also had other experiences that were a reaction to that control.
- 24:58I want you to consider these doors like bowls of porridge.
- 25:07In Goldilocks's house that she discovered, door #1 wasn't quite
- 25:14right, and door #2 wasn't quite right either.
- 25:20But now imagine standing in front of Door 3.
- 25:25Door 3 is the empowered version of you, the resourceful version
- 25:32of you. The version of you that wants to
- 25:36get to a destination but also enjoy the journey.
- 25:42This is a journey of balance, of moderation, of encouragement, of
- 25:52lots of little bits of progress that build wonderful habits that
- 25:57take your life in a positive direction.
- 26:04But this door I want you to walk through, Remaining in your body.
- 26:10Five. Hand on the hand or 4.
- 26:13Turning the hand or three opening the door, 2.
- 26:17Walking through the door and one closing the door behind you.
- 26:20But stay in this body now. And imagine what it would.
- 26:25Be like over the next few days. To make subtle.
- 26:30Changes that feel like it's encouraging your stomach to get
- 26:37smaller and releasing you from an addiction off sugar and
- 26:45refined carbohydrates. Maybe day by day you're just
- 26:53reducing the amount of processed food and refined carbohydrates.
- 26:58Nothing drastic, but each choice feels like a win.
- 27:04Feels like progress. Maybe you're drinking more
- 27:07water, and I want you to get a sense that you're doing this one
- 27:12day at a time, one step at a time.
- 27:15You feel worthy to make these choices, and because they're
- 27:20subtle, tiny changes. They also.
- 27:24Feel familiar? Nothing scary, nothing radical,
- 27:29nothing revolutionary. This is the doorway of
- 27:34evolutionary change. Tiny, manageable changes.
- 27:42Maybe you're eating more berries on this journey.
- 27:47And maybe those foods that you don't even like, like pizza and
- 27:51fries, they're just something you could easily say no to.
- 27:58I want you to imagine how good it would feel where most days
- 28:06you're making choices that gradually and steadily mean that
- 28:10you're having less processed food and less refined carbs.
- 28:16So much so that after a week or two it doesn't feel like you
- 28:21have to have them. There's just less of those
- 28:24compulsions and cravings, and even if they come back, you feel
- 28:29like you can manage them in a different way.
- 28:34If you're craving something sweet, you have a piece of
- 28:36fruit, and if you're feeling with low energy, you have a
- 28:44glass of water. Subtle, manageable changes.
- 28:53So many things in nature happen gradually, but then create
- 28:59incredible changes. A tree can become so tall, but
- 29:07it grows one day at a time. And a year from now you will
- 29:13have different habits, different tastes, different cravings
- 29:21because you steered your mind in that direction.
- 29:26And imagine it's a year from now and imagine there is a full
- 29:30length mirror and you can see what one year of tiny changes,
- 29:37incremental changes, positive changes.
- 29:43Not about control and not about binging, just finding the
- 29:50balance just right for you. The balance of losing weight
- 29:57while enjoying food is you can enjoy fresh fruit, you can enjoy
- 30:05a salad, you can enjoy the occasional treat.
- 30:08But what if you enjoy the fact that you're making choices,
- 30:13discerning choices? Because.
- 30:17In this reality, what you're giving up in pleasure now gives
- 30:23you so much pleasure in the future.
- 30:28You're not depriving yourself of pleasure, you're simply delaying
- 30:33it. And if this feels like a viable,
- 30:38winnable game, what? You get to lose weight while
- 30:42you're enjoying the journey? Let me know by nodding your
- 30:45head. And I want you to imagine, a
- 30:49year from now, what weight you might be.
- 30:56Would you really? Trade that new weight in, not
- 31:01just to have the temporary pleasure of food, because when
- 31:10you get to this weight, you will have the confidence, you will
- 31:16have the sense of pride and accomplishment, the feeling of
- 31:21being in control. There will be less anxiety and
- 31:25more happiness. Happiness that comes from
- 31:27gratitude and pride worthiness because you will be able to look
- 31:34at yourself in the mirror and say I did this and that will
- 31:39make you feel good and that feeling will feel better than
- 31:46anything that you could possibly eat.
- 31:48It's. Time to.
- 31:51Leave this place. So imagine going backwards
- 31:56through that door on the beach, knowing that you have infinite
- 32:01choices, and these are just three of them.
- 32:04To do what you've been doing, to try and use discipline and
- 32:09control, or to make small, manageable, consistent changes.
- 32:15That takes your life in a wonderful direction.
- 32:19And that part that wants pleasure knows what will really
- 32:23give you pleasure and happiness. So allow that part to make the
- 32:29choice. When that part has made the
- 32:32choice, let me know by nodding your head.
- 32:38That's it. And then just walk away and see
- 32:41someone that looks just like you doing a puzzle, but they've
- 32:45completed the puzzle now and you can see.
- 32:47What the picture? Is the picture is you losing
- 32:54weight while enjoying the journey.
- 32:59So many people do it the other way round, put themselves
- 33:03through misery and deprivation so that one day they'll feel
- 33:08good. But you figured it out.
- 33:11You solved the puzzle. To get to the destination, the
- 33:16journey has to be enjoyable. And then step into that logical
- 33:22part where that logical analytical part will help you
- 33:26make logical analytical choices that help you move in that
- 33:32wonderful positive direction. And then see that version of you
- 33:40lying there on the lounger. Step into that version of you,
- 33:42your conscious mind, so all parts now are integrated in one.
- 33:49And you leave the lounger. And I want you to see that the
- 33:54cloudy skies are now blue and the restless waters are now
- 33:59still. And you have unlocked a
- 34:03wonderful feeling of optimism and self belief and worthiness.
- 34:13It isn't a case that you can do this.
- 34:17It is now a case that you will do this, and you will do it
- 34:23simply because you want it and you can and you deserve it.
- 34:30It's time to leave this place. So take a deep breath in through
- 34:33your nose and out through your nose.
- 34:39Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, and allow yourself to
- 34:43jump back through the photo. Find yourself there in your
- 34:48imagination, holding an imaginary phone, realizing that
- 34:53even that is still your imagination.
