- 0:00I'm Julia and you're listening to the spread know my podcast,
- 0:04the show that helps spiritual Seekers step into their purpose
- 0:07and freedom. You can find the video version
- 0:10of this podcast and many more on the spur of the moment YouTube
- 0:13channel. Now, let's get into the episode.
- 0:19I'm 30, and looking back at my twenties, I really waste them
- 0:25but they led me to where I am now.
- 0:27And today, I will share what I learned.
- 0:29So you don't have to waste years to find out what I have to sum
- 0:34up my twenties. It was all a big quest to chase,
- 0:38external validation. I was a chameleon when I first
- 0:44meet a person, I would try to figure them out.
- 0:47What are they like? What they don't like?
- 0:49Like what other values and then I would adapt to that and
- 0:53pretend that I felt the same at always and keep quiet about what
- 0:58I didn't agree with. I desperately needed to be liked
- 1:02by every single person on this planet.
- 1:05And as a result people did like me including people.
- 1:10I had nothing in common with and who I didn't even want to be
- 1:13friends with many friends and partners.
- 1:17I attracted were people. Far from my soul tribe.
- 1:22And even though few people hated me, I never really got close to
- 1:28anyone because I was scared to be vulnerable.
- 1:30So I never showed my real self. I pretended to agree with their
- 1:34political views. I pretended to be extroverted.
- 1:39I pretended to like alcohol even though I have never, I even went
- 1:45so far to impress a friend that I pretended, to me.
- 1:49It'd be a meat eater even though I've been a vegetarian for
- 1:53years. So I joined in getting the
- 1:56chicken kabob and everything and it was extra awkward afterwards
- 2:01when this person said that they hate vegetarians and I could do
- 2:06nothing else than agree because I mean I had the chicken kabob
- 2:10and as you can imagine, I was really struggling in staying in
- 2:14relationships. I couldn't work out what it was.
- 2:18Why I couldn't? Keep a long-term boyfriend, but
- 2:22looking back. It's so obvious.
- 2:24They never got to know the real me.
- 2:27And I attracted the wrong guys into my life, people with
- 2:30completely different values to me, because if they had known
- 2:34who I was, if I was up front with this is who I am, this is
- 2:37what I like this one. Don't like these are my values,
- 2:40then. The guys who didn't agree with
- 2:43those things and were put off by those things that would have
- 2:46left and I would have attracted it and the person for me and
- 2:52eventually I did staff. As you might know, we have the
- 2:55brand confirmed guides together and you might wonder how was I
- 2:58able to do this after this epic. Fail of alpha love life.
- 3:03Well, at that point, I had just broken up with my ex, we had
- 3:06been together for four months. It was the longest one so far.
- 3:09I was crushed. And after that point, I was not
- 3:12looking to date anyone. So, I was just being my real
- 3:16self because I was, I didn't need anybody.
- 3:19You like me but that is what made him fall in love with me,
- 3:24that I was so real. So in the end, all the Love Guru
- 3:28books. I had read about how to behave,
- 3:32how to play hard to get all that didn't matter.
- 3:34It was just about being real and being myself.
- 3:38That was all it took to retract, your twin, find your soulmate,
- 3:42but my quest for external validation didn't stop there.
- 3:46No no I also started growing An Instagram account where I would
- 3:51be in my body on a beach or in some environment, it would just
- 3:55be me my body and it felt great to get those likes because I
- 4:02really struggled with my self-worth, all throughout my
- 4:05life, and I was a study nerd in school.
- 4:10So to finally get some external validation felt great.
- 4:13I believed being young and beautiful was my only asset I
- 4:16had nothing more than to say. So it would just be this picture
- 4:18of me. And then a quote, from some
- 4:21other spiritual teacher or Guru to my friends and family.
- 4:25It looked like I was living this ideal beautiful Dream Life as a
- 4:29digital Nomad, but I just felt empty inside.
- 4:33I was lonely. I was chasing me stronger
- 4:36validation but the happiness wasn't coming from within the
- 4:40validation wasn't coming from within everything changed.
- 4:43When I started my blog and YouTube channel, the spirit
- 4:47Nomad, which you I found it congrats.
- 4:50It was really terrifying. At first to put myself out
- 4:53there, but it was so much fun. People were actually caring
- 5:00about what I had to say. I didn't know that before, so I
- 5:05then started listening more to myself.
- 5:08I was asking myself, what do I want?
- 5:11What is Julie I want. And I learned so much like, for
- 5:15example, these push-up bras I was wearing because I wanted My
- 5:19boobs. Look bigger.
- 5:21I hate them. I felt so constricted.
- 5:24I stopped wearing them. I stopped wearing bras jeans,
- 5:27same thing too constrictive. I can't stretch.
- 5:29I can move. I saw software in jeans, and I
- 5:33stopped drinking alcohol because of peer pressure.
- 5:35I never liked the taste of alcohol, and I embraced being a
- 5:40vegetarian. I was proud of it not like in
- 5:42the face Through Blood at the people wearing fur.
- 5:46But like I wasn't embarrassed. Of my values.
- 5:50I came out of my spiritual cloth and I started talking about
- 5:54angel numbers, aliens starseeds all the most, woo stuff you can
- 5:59imagine on this channel and it was really terrifying.
- 6:03At first, I was really worrying about how my family would take
- 6:06it, but now I don't even care anymore.
- 6:10I'm loving it. I'm loving being me.
- 6:13I want to end this with five really powerful affirmations.
- 6:16If you have been struggling with people pleasing as well, Well, I
- 6:19think they are from the book. Not nice, which is
- 6:22life-changing, by the way. So close your eyes and really
- 6:27feel these. It's good to discover what I
- 6:31want. It's good to ask for what I
- 6:34want. It's good to say what I want.
- 6:39It's good to say, what? I don't want, it's good to be
- 6:43able to put myself first. You can open your eyes.
