- 0:00Let me begin with the announcement itself. Under
- 0:02the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
- 0:05bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime
- 0:08Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai
- 0:12Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity
- 0:15and Water Authority, and the World Green Economy
- 0:17Organization will organize the 12th edition of
- 0:21the World Green Economy Summit on 21st and 22nd
- 0:24October 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
- 0:28The 12th edition, with a clear focus on supporting
- 0:32bankability for climate projects. The summit
- 0:35will concentrate on four main thematic pillars.
- 0:39Energy technology and infrastructure. Business
- 0:42strategy and transition. Water and food security.
- 0:46And finance. It will also address three cross
- 0:50-cutting themes. Artificial intelligence, governance
- 0:54and system enablers. And the finance pillar treats
- 0:58climate investment as an unprecedented opportunity
- 1:01for prosperity and economic growth. Consider
- 1:04the numbers. The Climate Policy Initiative estimates
- 1:07that at least US $6 .3 trillion in annual investment
- 1:12will be needed from now until 2030 to avoid the
- 1:15worst effects of climate change. Today, investment
- 1:19stands at around US $2 .3 trillion. A significant
- 1:23gap. That is why His Excellency Saeed Mohammed
- 1:28Al -Taya, Vice -Chairman of the Dubai Supreme
- 1:31Council of Energy, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity
- 1:35and Water Authority, and Chairman of the World
- 1:38Green Economy Organisation said, and I quote,
- 1:42World Green Economy Summit aligns with the UAE's
- 1:45adoption of the green economy as one of the pathways
- 1:48to sustainable development. The summit serves
- 1:52as a platform to showcase to the world key milestones
- 1:55in the UAE's contribution to accelerating sustainable
- 1:59climate finance practices. These include the
- 2:02establishment of the Altera Catalytic Climate
- 2:05Fund and the UAE's contribution of US $100 million
- 2:09to the Loss and Damage Fund, launched in COP28.
- 2:14The UAE has also pledged US $200 million in special
- 2:19drawing rights to finance the International Monetary
- 2:22Fund's Resilience and Sustainability Trust and
- 2:25the new financial framework, in addition to establishing
- 2:29the Dubai Green Fund. World Green Economy Summit
- 2:32supports the UAE's position as one of the region's
- 2:36most active countries in issuing green sukuk
- 2:39and bonds and promoting green financing solutions.
- 2:42So the summit's message is clear. Aligning finance,
- 2:46business strategy and cross -sector collaboration
- 2:49to accelerate the transition to a sustainable
- 2:51and resilient green economy. And to help climate
- 2:55projects progress from concept to implementation.
- 2:58Agreed. The World Green Economy Summit. 21st
