- 1:07Speaker 1: have done it all. You have a special coming out.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You've been everywhere. You have a million shows. Welcome to
- 1:14Speaker 1: Juicy Scoop. Your first time on Juicy Scoop.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I'm popping my Juicy Scoop cherry and I'm very excited
- 1:19Speaker 4: about it. A bunch of my friends have done it.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I've heard it's great. This is a lot like the
- 1:23Speaker 4: first time I had sex. A lot of my friends
- 1:25Speaker 4: have done it. And they told me how awesome it
- 1:27Speaker 4: was and how great it is, and now I get
- 1:29Speaker 4: to experience it for myself, and it'll probably be over
- 1:31Speaker 4: way too quickly.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I love it. Now, I mean, a lot of people,
- 1:36Speaker 1: you're very recognized. A lot of people know you. You've
- 1:38Speaker 1: had several specials.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:40Speaker 1: You have one coming out December 21st that you can
- 1:43Speaker 1: watch on Veeps.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Veeps, a brand new service. And before you say, like, oh,
- 1:49Speaker 4: I don't have the money to pay for another streaming service,
- 1:51Speaker 4: it's okay. Veeps, you go on there. It's specifically for concerts.
- 1:56Speaker 4: And comedy specials, a lot of bands do it. It
- 1:58Speaker 4: was started by the Madden Brothers from Good Charlotte.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Oh, cool.
- 2:02Speaker 4: And so let's say you want to sit in your
- 2:04Speaker 4: jam jams and be on the couch and watch a concert. Great.
- 2:07Speaker 4: They've got a lot of concerts, but they also have
- 2:08Speaker 4: comedy specials. I've got one. It's called Starfish. It came
- 2:12Speaker 4: out on December 21st. Why did I choose that date?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Because that's the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Get it?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Marketing. yet market is sure to stay here it's not
- 2:22Speaker 4: a short special though uh... but yes uh... route really
- 2:25Speaker 4: happy for it and uh... go to the sand these
- 2:28Speaker 4: dot com slash brad williams and watch the special and
- 2:32Speaker 4: when you get it the money doesn't go to some
- 2:33Speaker 4: of the very large corporation no money goes to more
- 2:37Speaker 4: and uh... and uh... that helped me raise the asian
- 2:39Speaker 4: dwarf baby i say asian dwarf baby cuz i'm a
- 2:42Speaker 4: dwarf my wife is asian when we made a kid
- 2:44Speaker 4: together asian dwarf baby So, yeah. I don't know if
- 2:48Speaker 4: it's a kid.
- 2:49Speaker 1: How old is she?
- 2:49Speaker 4: She's going to be four. And, yeah, she's four on
- 2:53Speaker 4: January 13th. And I'm digging it. I like this age.
- 2:58Speaker 4: She can talk. She can laugh. She can respond. She
- 3:01Speaker 4: can tell me that she doesn't like something, which happens
- 3:04Speaker 4: all too often.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 4: And it's fantastic. So I'm really enjoying being a dad
- 3:10Speaker 4: right now. That's great.
- 3:10Speaker 1: That's so awesome.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Yay.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yay.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I didn't know if I'd like it. I didn't know.
- 3:14Speaker 4: I thought most comics were very, let's be honest, narcissistic.
- 3:22Speaker 4: And we're into ourselves and our careers and everything like that.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Don't have time to put someone else first. But I'm
- 3:28Speaker 4: digging the hole when I come home. When I come home, yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 4: let's watch Bluey.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Great.
- 3:36Speaker 4: We're going to do that. We're going to sit on
- 3:37Speaker 4: the couch. I'm going to have a tea party. It's awesome.
- 3:40Speaker 4: It's great. I love that part of it where I
- 3:43Speaker 4: get to be the sort of pseudo-celebrity on the road,
- 3:46Speaker 4: and then come home, and I am nothing. I'm just dad.
- 3:51Speaker 4: It's great.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Right before we started, you said that you have a
- 3:53Speaker 1: nephew that now knows that you, his uncle, might be
- 3:57Speaker 1: a little bit known. How old is he?
- 4:00Speaker 4: He's nine, and apparently some parents at his school are
- 4:07Speaker 4: letting their kids watch my stand-up, which... I don't advise.
- 4:11Speaker 4: I'm not going to curse too much on this pod,
- 4:13Speaker 4: but in my stand-up, not something that a nine-year-old should consume.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I'm doing theaters now. You can get all my dates
- 4:20Speaker 4: at bradwilliamscomedy.com. And theaters don't check IDs the way comedy
- 4:25Speaker 4: clubs do. So there's a lot of parents that bring
- 4:27Speaker 4: their 11-year-old and be like, yeah, this is my 11-year-old.
- 4:30Speaker 4: He loves your stuff. And I'm like, he shouldn't. No,
- 4:35Speaker 4: I'm talking about things that are probably morphing his brain.
- 4:39Speaker 4: But some of the kids in his school showed him
- 4:42Speaker 4: a clip and said, oh, look at this funny comedian.
- 4:45Speaker 4: And he goes, that's Uncle Brad. And everyone's like looking
- 4:48Speaker 4: at him like, Uncle Brad? What? And so now he
- 4:52Speaker 4: FaceTimed me last night and I got a whole bunch
- 4:54Speaker 4: of autographs that I got to do and photos. And
- 4:57Speaker 4: I'm basically doing a cameo service for my nephew where
- 5:01Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, hey, Barry, what's going on? It's
- 5:03Speaker 4: comedian Brad Williams, Uncle Liam. And, you know, just doing
- 5:07Speaker 4: the whole thing.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So.
- 5:08Speaker 4: uh... it's it's interesting he's finding out he's seeing videos
- 5:13Speaker 4: he's a yes checked out my instagram.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Now where does he live uh.
- 5:17Speaker 4: i'm not going to give away.
- 5:18Speaker 1: That information but i mean not in not in this
- 5:20Speaker 1: neighborhood or not.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Not in l.a. but l.a. adjacent so people are into
- 5:27Speaker 4: the show business thing got it and Yeah, he is
- 5:32Speaker 4: getting a little bit of popularity from it, and I'm
- 5:34Speaker 4: fine with that. I'll help the kid out. I'll do
- 5:36Speaker 4: all the cameos. I'll wish little Aiden and Jaden and
- 5:40Speaker 4: Caden happy birthday. They're all these Aiden, Jaden, Caden, Caden rhymes.
- 5:45Speaker 4: It's madness. But I'm stoked for it. I like the
- 5:48Speaker 4: fact that my nephew now, like, oh, that's what Uncle
- 5:52Speaker 4: Brad does. Yeah, I go up in front of the hundreds,
- 5:55Speaker 4: sometimes thousands of people and act like an idiot. It's great.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Well, I have... I had a similar story, but it's
- 6:00Speaker 1: like the opposite.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 6:02Speaker 1: So my son is a junior at ASU.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And one thing I do for my... So the other day,
- 6:10Speaker 1: his friend called him that he met and knew his mom.
- 6:13Speaker 1: And he goes, dude, I came home to my mom's house,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and I'm like, why is Drake... That's my son's name.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Why is Drake in my house? And he had our
- 6:24Speaker 1: Christmas card. And he's like, wait, how is this? Well...
- 6:28Speaker 1: My Patreon people get a Christmas card from my family
- 6:32Speaker 1: and his mom. is a fan of mine.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Oh.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But he had no idea that his friend that he
- 6:39Speaker 1: met in college has a mom who's a stand-up that
- 6:42Speaker 1: his mom follows.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And so he's like, why the hell do you know
- 6:45Speaker 1: this guy that I golf with at ASU, mom?
- 6:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, you're friends with Drake? That's Heather
- 6:51Speaker 1: Tuttle's son.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Oh, my goodness. Yeah, that's a whole thing.
- 6:55Speaker 1: It's a whole other generation now. Yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 4: It's pretty amazing, because I've heard interviews with, like, uh...
- 7:02Speaker 4: rock stars like huge rock stars left that i'd love
- 7:05Speaker 4: and they talk about their kids like him a dozen
- 7:08Speaker 4: metallica uh... it has a metallic uh... there's madness yeah
- 7:14Speaker 4: why don't you like doing car wheels every day but
- 7:16Speaker 4: it's just no matter who it is it's just like
- 7:19Speaker 4: once i'm not you know i'm bomb i'm uncle brad
- 7:23Speaker 4: it yeah it it's no big deal it's and uh...
- 7:27Speaker 4: most time the family people come up to my wife
- 7:30Speaker 4: all the time like, oh, is he funny all the time?
- 7:33Speaker 4: And then my wife will just roll her eyes like,
- 7:35Speaker 4: tries to be. Tries it. That is great. It's just
- 7:43Speaker 4: the normal. She's around it all the time, so it's
- 7:47Speaker 4: not really special to her, and I'm sure Metallica's kids
- 7:50Speaker 4: are around it all the time. It's like, yeah, Dave
- 7:52Speaker 4: Grohl comes over sometimes, whatever. It's like, Dave Grohl comes over!
- 7:55Speaker 4: I'm freaking out, and Now I'm sure your son's just like, oh, wait,
- 8:01Speaker 4: that thing that I thought mom just did in the basement,
- 8:06Speaker 4: now he knows.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Well, he always, they've known for a while, but yeah,
- 8:12Speaker 1: but they didn't really like, now they're like, they're adults.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So they're like, you know, my one says a senior
- 8:17Speaker 1: in high school, the other one's a junior in college.
- 8:19Speaker 1: So now they're like, they're part of it. And they
- 8:21Speaker 1: even read the mean stuff too, which is kind of funny.
- 8:25Speaker 4: It's kind of funny. Do they laugh at it or
- 8:27Speaker 4: do they take it personally?
- 8:28Speaker 1: No, we kind of laugh at it.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Okay, good.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Because I'm like, God, some of these people are really funny.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Some of these people that hate me are, like, fucking hilarious.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Sometimes they're good. Sometimes I see a joke about me,
- 8:39Speaker 4: and I'm like, all right, that one was actually solid.
- 8:42Speaker 4: That's the thing. People ask me all the time, like, oh,
- 8:44Speaker 4: do you like dwarf jokes? Do you hate dwarf jokes?
- 8:47Speaker 4: And I go, well, I built a career on it,
- 8:49Speaker 4: so I kind of like them. But I just don't
- 8:51Speaker 4: like bad ones.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Like, if I post one more tweet and... Someone puts
- 8:58Speaker 4: in the comments, uh, that joke came up short. You
- 9:01Speaker 4: think you're the first guy to ever write that? Oh,
- 9:05Speaker 4: I came up short. I had Method Man tell me
- 9:07Speaker 4: one time I came up short. Cool your jets, all right?
- 9:10Speaker 4: That's not an original joke. But if you come up
- 9:12Speaker 4: with an original one that's like, holy crap, I've never
- 9:15Speaker 4: heard that before, I'm all about it. Okay, a fan
- 9:19Speaker 4: said this the other day. It's not really a joke
- 9:22Speaker 4: about me, but I looked at it like, this is
- 9:24Speaker 4: genius comedy. I always refer to tall people in my
- 9:27Speaker 4: act as reachers. I call you guys reachers because, well,
- 9:32Speaker 4: let's go to the supermarket. You'll find out. And you
- 9:35Speaker 4: guys are reachers. And I had a fan. I have
- 9:39Speaker 4: to be very careful when I say this word. You
- 9:42Speaker 4: will understand in a second. He said, no, you should
- 9:44Speaker 4: refer to tall people as biggers. With a B. Hard B.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Biggers.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And I was just like, that is so funny. Oh
- 9:54Speaker 4: my god. Oh, all these biggers out there. Like that's,
- 9:57Speaker 4: that's hilarious. So I'm actually going to take that one
- 10:00Speaker 4: from a fan, but very rarely does that actually happen.
- 10:03Speaker 1: What is the proper name?
- 10:04Speaker 4: For tall people? Average size?
- 10:08Speaker 1: I call them talls. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Reachers?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yes. No, like what do you prefer? Yeah, because I mean,
- 10:13Speaker 1: it's like, is it little people?
- 10:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Is it dwarfs? What do you prefer?
- 10:17Speaker 4: Dwarf or little person are the ones that, Won't get
- 10:20Speaker 4: you in trouble. Midget's the one that gets everyone in trouble.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Don't say that one. Me personally, I'm all about intent.
- 10:29Speaker 4: I'll tell you this story. I was in Odessa, Texas,
- 10:33Speaker 4: and I did a show. And during the show, there
- 10:35Speaker 4: was a guy that had to be kicked out of
- 10:37Speaker 4: the club. For being an asshole, being too drunk, or both?
- 10:40Speaker 2: All.
- 10:41Speaker 4: All of the above. And I'm sure you've gotten this.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Sometimes you get people, they're yelling stuff out, and you
- 10:48Speaker 4: slam them a couple of times. but then they keep
- 10:50Speaker 4: going it's like okay dot we can't keep doing that.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So yeah i think that you're running for everybody else exactly.
- 10:56Speaker 4: So we had so we had to come out show
- 10:59Speaker 4: goes great at the end of the show i'm walking
- 11:01Speaker 4: with the opening act uh... to our to our car
- 11:04Speaker 4: and we see uh... uh... headlights turn on from the
- 11:07Speaker 4: parking lot and speak up truck pickup truck starts racing
- 11:11Speaker 4: across my parking lot a guy leans out the window
- 11:15Speaker 4: and yells out kills a dwarf So at that point,
- 11:21Speaker 4: I didn't stop and be like, well, thank you for
- 11:23Speaker 4: using the correct terminology. It wasn't the dwarf I had
- 11:27Speaker 4: a problem with. It was more the kill the that
- 11:31Speaker 4: I had slight issues with. So thankfully, we hopped in
- 11:34Speaker 4: the car, and my buddy who was driving, who was
- 11:37Speaker 4: the opening act, he knows the trick of, like, you
- 11:41Speaker 4: go into, like, a dirt kind of field, and you
- 11:43Speaker 4: do some donuts, and then it kicks up a bunch
- 11:45Speaker 4: of dust. And then you can't see, so then you
- 11:47Speaker 4: just drive off then.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Very, very Dukes of Hazzard. I grew up in Orange County.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I did not know he grew up. In Waco, Texas,
- 11:59Speaker 4: this is a trick that apparently they learned there.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And that you have to learn, apparently. That's kind of scary.
- 12:05Speaker 4: And my opening act that I was with that night
- 12:08Speaker 4: is black, so he was just like, oh, wow, someone's
- 12:11Speaker 4: chasing after someone. Not me. This is great. Like, I can't, like,
- 12:17Speaker 4: if the car had caught us, the guy would have
- 12:20Speaker 4: been like, yeah, we're not here for the black guy.
- 12:22Speaker 4: We're here for the dwarf, which is like, oh, he
- 12:24Speaker 4: would have been so relieved.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Looking for a getaway that's truly special? Ireland's Blue Book
- 12:31Speaker 5: has just what you need. From country houses to boutique hotels,

- 12:45Speaker 5: your next luxury escape.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 12:51Speaker 2: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 12:54Speaker 2: have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have found a
- 12:58Speaker 2: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 13:07Speaker 1: filed against me.
- 13:07Speaker 4: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 13:10Speaker 4: what would you do if it was given back?
- 13:12Speaker 2: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 13:15Speaker 2: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 13:17Speaker 4: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 13:19Speaker 4: home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he
- 13:21Speaker 4: started crying.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 13:27Speaker 2: those hard moments that they go through.
- 13:29Speaker 4: It's about what happens next.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 13:33Speaker 1: every day was.
- 13:34Speaker 4: You're worth the work. Listen, Dara, I'm not going to
- 13:36Speaker 4: pull punches.
- 13:37Speaker 2: You can use your voice even if it's shaped. The
- 13:39Speaker 2: stories are different, but the impact is the same. Only
- 13:43Speaker 2: one question matters. What happens next?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Okay, so you grew up in Orange County.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Orange County, California.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Tell me a little bit about your life, siblings. What's
- 13:58Speaker 1: your story there?
- 14:00Speaker 4: First of all, only dwarf in the family. So when
- 14:03Speaker 4: people be like, oh, so you're father and mother? No,
- 14:06Speaker 4: you don't drive down a street in Fullerton where we're
- 14:08Speaker 4: from and say, where did Brad grow up? Oh, it's
- 14:11Speaker 4: the mushroom with the door in it. Like, that's not
- 14:14Speaker 4: the case. Dad.
- 14:16Speaker 1: So there wasn't... So did she know before she gave birth?
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:22Speaker 4: But fun fact.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Our doctor did not tell my mom that I was
- 14:28Speaker 4: going to be a little person. They knew. But they didn't...
- 14:31Speaker 4: The doctors knew.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Doctors knew, but didn't tell her for a while. Because
- 14:35Speaker 4: a doctor, a strict practicing Catholic, thought that if he
- 14:39Speaker 4: told her that your son's going to be a dwarf,
- 14:41Speaker 4: that she would.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And the pregnancy.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and it, and so he didn't want that to happen.
- 14:48Speaker 4: So he waited a little, a little beyond, so it
- 14:51Speaker 4: was like third trimester, but they knew before. Fun fact, medicine.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And so, and how did they tell her? Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: And how was it, what was their reaction? Where are
- 15:01Speaker 1: you in the family? What child?
- 15:03Speaker 4: I'm the baby. We're the Cleavers. It's mom, dad, sister, brother,
- 15:10Speaker 4: and dog. Like, that was growing up. That's what it was.
- 15:13Speaker 4: And I was the baby in the family. And so
- 15:16Speaker 4: they told her, yeah, your son's going to be a
- 15:18Speaker 4: little person. And my dad, awesome dude that he was,
- 15:22Speaker 4: he started going to these meetings that are LPA meetings,
- 15:26Speaker 4: Little People of America. And he would just sit in
- 15:28Speaker 4: the back and he would listen. And he would listen
- 15:30Speaker 4: to all the little people gripe.
- 15:33Speaker 1: While his wife is pregnant.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Yes. And just like, okay. And then one day he
- 15:39Speaker 4: stood up. in a meeting and he said, hey guys,
- 15:41Speaker 4: I've been coming to a few of these meetings. You
- 15:43Speaker 4: guys are just really angry. You guys are just very mad.
- 15:47Speaker 4: And I'm about to be a father of a little person.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Is there anything good? Is there anything good? Or is
- 15:53Speaker 4: this just all suck? Is there anything good that's happening?
- 15:56Speaker 4: And one dwarf came to my dad and said, yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 4: everybody remembers you. Everybody remembers you. Everybody knows your name.
- 16:04Speaker 4: And now it's kind of interesting that I'm, in a
- 16:09Speaker 4: stand-up comedian because when people see me, no one just goes, oh, yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 4: that guy, the white guy, you know, he has the... No,
- 16:19Speaker 4: everyone just goes, oh, yeah, the midget comic. And everyone
- 16:21Speaker 4: knows who you're talking about. And I'm fine with that.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I'm totally fine with that. So it sort of came
- 16:27Speaker 4: full circle that way.
- 16:28Speaker 1: And so how old were your siblings were you when
- 16:30Speaker 1: you were born?
- 16:32Speaker 4: Pretty much Irish twins with my sister.
- 16:33Speaker 2: So.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Yeah, she, I remember they came home and they were like, hey,
- 16:40Speaker 4: you know, her name's Katie. And they're like, hey, Katie,
- 16:42Speaker 4: this is your baby brother. And then the story goes
- 16:45Speaker 4: that she burst into tears and was like, put him back.
- 16:50Speaker 4: It was like very angry. But now me and my
- 16:52Speaker 4: sister have a wonderful, great relationship. It's her son, the nephew,
- 16:56Speaker 4: that has now figured out that I'm popular. So it's great.
- 17:00Speaker 1: And how was it growing up?
- 17:04Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 17:04Speaker 1: In Orange County.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Wonderful. I'm not this guy that comes on and goes, oh,
- 17:09Speaker 4: I grew up such a hard life. It's like, nah,
- 17:11Speaker 4: it was pretty good. Orange County was good. I will
- 17:15Speaker 4: tell you the thing that made it good is my
- 17:17Speaker 4: dad realized that as a little person, when I go
- 17:21Speaker 4: to school, I'm probably going to get picked on a
- 17:23Speaker 4: little bit. I'm going to get bullied. So what my
- 17:26Speaker 4: dad did is he would bully me first, but in
- 17:29Speaker 4: a very supportive way. He would make fun of me
- 17:32Speaker 4: and then tell me, okay. hit me back with something.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Hit me back. Oh, wow. So I would like, we
- 17:38Speaker 4: would actually write jokes, write comebacks together.
- 17:41Speaker 1: As if you were like in elementary school. That is awesome.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, so then when I got to school and a
- 17:46Speaker 4: kid made fun of me, I was like, oh, I've
- 17:48Speaker 4: trained for this moment. I'm good. So now I would
- 17:52Speaker 4: have comebacks and I would say them to the kids
- 17:55Speaker 4: and then a couple times I got sent to the
- 17:57Speaker 4: principal's office for having the better joke.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's kind of like, Now when a heckler
- 18:04Speaker 4: yells something out, I'm like, I'm fine. You don't think
- 18:09Speaker 4: I've heard lucky charms before? Come on, dude. Come with it.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Come strong to the hoop. So I'm fine in those scenarios.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So when did you realize that I have a knack
- 18:23Speaker 1: for performing and writing and comedy?
- 18:25Speaker 4: Very young. Very young, because I was always doing... plays
- 18:31Speaker 4: and I was always doing like high school as an
- 18:34Speaker 4: improv comedy like I don't know exactly the moment but
- 18:38Speaker 4: another thing my dad taught me is so my.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Dad What did your dad do for a living?
- 18:43Speaker 4: Lawyer and successful one and so I'm good I didn't
- 18:48Speaker 4: grow up like we didn't grow up wanting we're fine
- 18:52Speaker 4: so my dad always told me that whenever he was
- 18:57Speaker 4: giving his depositions and arguing and stuff He would insert
- 19:01Speaker 4: jokes because it really lightened the tension, made him more memorable,
- 19:05Speaker 4: and made him appear in a more favorable light. And
- 19:09Speaker 4: so he kind of taught me. He's like, hey, when
- 19:10Speaker 4: you meet someone, joke. Really fast. Joke. So then they
- 19:14Speaker 4: know that you're comfortable and you're fine. And I was like, oh,
- 19:17Speaker 4: that's good. And, man, does that work.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Because if I meet someone and they don't know who
- 19:23Speaker 4: I am or I'm a comedian or whatever, I could
- 19:26Speaker 4: tell sometimes people are nervous because they're like– how do
- 19:29Speaker 4: I bring up the elephant in the room? Is he
- 19:31Speaker 4: cool with it? Are we allowed to like, so I
- 19:34Speaker 4: will constantly like, I'll break the ice with a joke,
- 19:37Speaker 4: just a quick thing. And then they'll understand like, oh,
- 19:41Speaker 4: he's fine. Like when I started doing comedy, I would
- 19:45Speaker 4: do dwarf jokes almost, immediately because when I would go
- 19:49Speaker 4: on stage and not do dwarf jokes, the audience would
- 19:51Speaker 4: sit there kind of very uncomfortable, just kind of look
- 19:54Speaker 4: around like, does he know? And I'm like, yeah, I'm aware.
- 19:58Speaker 4: So now I come out, I make a joke real fast.
- 20:02Speaker 4: They know I'm cool with it. They know it's okay
- 20:04Speaker 4: to laugh. Now we can move on to other topics.
- 20:07Speaker 1: How old were you the first time that you got
- 20:10Speaker 1: up on stage and decided, I want to try to
- 20:12Speaker 1: do stand-up?
- 20:13Speaker 4: 19. I was 19. I'm 39 now. I'm entering my
- 20:17Speaker 4: 20th year in stand-up comedy, which, wow, that sounds weird.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And what was your first experience?
- 20:21Speaker 4: Ooh, first experience was a good one. First experience, I
- 20:24Speaker 4: was in the audience at the Brea Improv. There was
- 20:27Speaker 4: a comedian on stage, and he started making midget jokes,
- 20:31Speaker 4: did not know I was there. And half the audience
- 20:34Speaker 4: is laughing. And the audience that is sitting by me
- 20:37Speaker 4: is like, her, her, like not laughing. Yes, yes. And
- 20:42Speaker 4: as you know, if half the audience is laughing, you know, okay,
- 20:46Speaker 4: what's happening over here? So the comedian looks over and goes,
- 20:50Speaker 4: what's happening? Like, you guys are laughing. And he actually says, what,
- 20:53Speaker 4: is one of them here? And I just went, yep.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Raised my creep little hand in the air. And he
- 21:00Speaker 4: called me up on stage. And he started asking me questions.
- 21:04Speaker 4: He didn't make fun of me, but he was just
- 21:05Speaker 4: asking me questions. I answered the questions honestly. Was not
- 21:09Speaker 4: trying to be funny at all. Do you remember some
- 21:13Speaker 4: of the questions? Yeah. He said, what do you do
- 21:15Speaker 4: for a living? And at the time, grew up in
- 21:17Speaker 4: Orange County. I worked at Disneyland. So I said, I
- 21:22Speaker 4: work at Disneyland. And the audience laughed. And then I
- 21:25Speaker 4: turned to the audience and went, shut up. I'm not
- 21:27Speaker 4: one of the seven. And that made him laugh harder.
- 21:29Speaker 4: And I was like, ooh, that felt good. That felt
- 21:32Speaker 4: real good.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 4: So then after that, after that experience, making the audience laugh.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Who were you with that night?
- 21:39Speaker 4: I was with my dad.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Yeah. And had you gone to, had
- 21:43Speaker 1: you grown up watching a lot of comedy or going
- 21:45Speaker 1: to comedy clubs?
- 21:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Not going to comedy clubs, but just watching a ton
- 21:49Speaker 4: of comedy.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 4: My dad introduced me to, like, Jonathan Winters and Robin
- 21:53Speaker 4: Williams and the Smothers Brothers and, like, I was aware
- 21:58Speaker 4: and like Eddie Murphy Raw, I watched Eddie Murphy Raw
- 22:01Speaker 4: when I was like 15. So did I.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Never.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Laughed so hard.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I mean, I went to the movie theater.
- 22:07Speaker 4: You went to the movie theater to see it?
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm older than you, so I went to the movie
- 22:10Speaker 1: theater to see it. Oh, wow. And I remember just
- 22:13Speaker 1: being like, I mean, I definitely snuck in.
- 22:15Speaker 4: How was that theater? Was it just like rolling?
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I just remember thinking this is the funniest. Is
- 22:21Speaker 1: the raw one the one where you got an ice
- 22:24Speaker 1: cream and then... Or is that the one before it? No,
- 22:26Speaker 1: that's delirious. Delirious.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Delirious is that one.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the delirious was the ice cream one, which is
- 22:32Speaker 1: this joke that he had about.
- 22:33Speaker 4: The red suit.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yes, and then... That's delirious.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Raw is the purple suit where he talks about McDonald's
- 22:39Speaker 4: in the end.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yes, and... That one was more sexual, I think.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:43Speaker 1: A little more dirty.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Yeah, some of those jokes won't fly today.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 4: Some of the jokes about the gay guy on top
- 22:52Speaker 4: of the cop car. Not gonna fly. He doesn't say
- 22:55Speaker 4: the word gay.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yes, yeah. Now I'm remembering. Okay, so you have that
- 23:01Speaker 1: first amazing moment. Yeah. And you start to go, okay,
- 23:04Speaker 1: this feels good. Yeah. Now, at 19, you're working at Disneyland.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Are you a full-time employee? No. Are you going to
- 23:10Speaker 1: go to school, or what are you doing?
- 23:11Speaker 4: I was going to school at USC.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Oh, you were? That's where I went.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Yeah, fight on. You're a Trojan.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm a Trojan.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Didn't know that about you. All right, now we got
- 23:20Speaker 4: this kinship. Yes. Did you graduate? I did not.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yes, I did.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Okay, good for you. Congratulations. I was going to school,
- 23:27Speaker 4: and then when that, moment happened, I was like, I'm
- 23:31Speaker 4: going to try standup.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And did you really have to quit school?
- 23:36Speaker 4: Yes. I, uh, so at that point, um, I did
- 23:43Speaker 4: comedy and school for about a year and a half.
- 23:46Speaker 4: And then I got an opportunity to go on tour as, uh,
- 23:50Speaker 4: Carlos Mencia's opening act.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Wow, only after a year and a half.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 1: That is awesome. So how did that come about? Did
- 23:56Speaker 1: he just see you?
- 23:58Speaker 4: He was the guy on stage where the full first
- 24:01Speaker 4: moment happened.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That is so cute.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 1: That is so sweet. I love that.
- 24:05Speaker 4: And then he saw me about a year and a
- 24:07Speaker 4: half later.
- 24:08Speaker 1: And he was like, holy shit, you actually have chops.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Yeah, he saw me at the Ontario Improv about a
- 24:13Speaker 4: year and a half later. And he goes, hey, I
- 24:17Speaker 4: remember you. And I go, yeah, I started doing comedy.
- 24:20Speaker 4: And he goes, you started doing comedy?
- 24:21Speaker 1: And this.
- 24:22Speaker 4: This is during the meet and greet of the early show.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 24:26Speaker 4: And he goes, do you want to do a guest
- 24:28Speaker 4: spot in the late show? Just from there. And I
- 24:31Speaker 4: was like.
- 24:32Speaker 1: You were just there to see him.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I was there to see him.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome.
- 24:34Speaker 4: And I go, okay. And I go on stage. I
- 24:37Speaker 4: do like three, five minutes, whatever it is. And then
- 24:41Speaker 4: got off stage. And he goes, holy crap. I put
- 24:46Speaker 4: you on stage because you're a midget. That's kind of funny.
- 24:49Speaker 4: But you actually had jokes. He goes, what are you
- 24:51Speaker 4: doing next week? And he was playing the Fox Theater
- 24:54Speaker 4: in Bakersfield, which I'm playing in February.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Oh, awesome.
- 24:57Speaker 4: So it's all coming full circle. But yeah, and then
- 25:01Speaker 4: after that, I just started going on the road with him.
- 25:02Speaker 4: So he had just gotten Mind of Mincy at that
- 25:05Speaker 4: time and was doing a big national tour. And he
- 25:10Speaker 4: wanted me to be the opening act. So that's when
- 25:12Speaker 4: I came to my parents and I was like.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Hey, you know that? Because you were going to be
- 25:15Speaker 1: gone for a while.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I was going to be gone.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And how was that, being on tour so young and
- 25:21Speaker 1: playing these big venues? Massive crowds.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah, it was amazing. It was a trial by fire,
- 25:26Speaker 4: for sure. And he's had awesome comics open for him,
- 25:31Speaker 4: like Cristela Alonso, Steve Trevino, Joe Coy. Like, all these comics. Like,
- 25:36Speaker 4: Joe Coy is... Yeah. selling out stadiums now.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So he really knows. He has a real eye for comic,
- 25:42Speaker 1: and he really helps support his opening acts, which is
- 25:44Speaker 1: really cool.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Yeah, so it was a trip I loved, but I
- 25:50Speaker 4: also got just introduced to the road lifestyle and what
- 25:53Speaker 4: it is, and I don't know if this happens to you.
- 25:57Speaker 4: People always ask me, like, oh, so when's this tour done?
- 26:00Speaker 4: And I go, when I'm dead. That's when I'm off tour.
- 26:04Speaker 4: If people ever come to my house and see my suitcase,
- 26:06Speaker 4: they're like, Oh, are you just coming back or are
- 26:09Speaker 4: you just heading out? And I go, yes. To both.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Because I'm always doing stuff. Now this next door coming up.
- 26:16Speaker 1: It's huge. You have so many dates. Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Literally 70 cities. And that's just until July. And now
- 26:25Speaker 4: we just announced some more dates. We're going to announce
- 26:28Speaker 4: some more dates.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And now what's the deal? When your agent calls you,
- 26:32Speaker 1: do you turn anything down?
- 26:34Speaker 4: It sounds like you don't. It's hard to. I come
- 26:37Speaker 4: from a point where when you were the opening act
- 26:40Speaker 4: or when you were starting off, it was like, I
- 26:43Speaker 4: didn't know. I was working one night. I didn't know
- 26:46Speaker 4: when the next night was that I was going to work.
- 26:48Speaker 4: So you just, you said yes. You say yes to everything.
- 26:51Speaker 4: And then it's really hard for me now to turn
- 26:55Speaker 4: down work because I still have that mentality. And especially like,
- 26:59Speaker 4: I remember driving from LA to San Jose and, to
- 27:04Speaker 4: do the San Jose Improv, to do a middle spot
- 27:07Speaker 4: for a different comic, I made like $ 400 for two shows,
- 27:12Speaker 4: and then I drove back that night because the club
- 27:14Speaker 4: didn't get me a hotel. So that's six hours up,
- 27:16Speaker 4: two shows, pound a Red Bull, six hours back, $ 400,
- 27:22Speaker 4: $ 100 was on gas. So I remember that. Right, of course.
- 27:26Speaker 4: So when I'm coming from that, and then they say, hey,
- 27:30Speaker 4: they want you to play the whatever theater, they wanted
- 27:34Speaker 4: to play Terre Haute, Indiana. And I say, okay, I've
- 27:37Speaker 4: never heard of that. But they tell me the amount
- 27:39Speaker 4: of money. I go, cool, we're doing it. And then
- 27:42Speaker 4: thankfully Terre Haute showed up and they sold out the
- 27:45Speaker 4: first show. So we got a second show there. Awesome.
- 27:48Speaker 4: 70 cities. We're going to announce more countries.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Oh, you're doing other countries?
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yeah, we're going to go to Australia. Have you ever
- 27:57Speaker 4: been there? Yes, I've done comedy there, but I'm going back.
- 28:01Speaker 4: And we're going to do England and we're going to
- 28:03Speaker 4: do a tour of the UK. So, yeah, all going
- 28:06Speaker 4: to be next year. So I really love my wife
- 28:09Speaker 4: and kid. I would like to see them in the
- 28:10Speaker 4: year 2025. So see me on this tour. 2025, I'm
- 28:14Speaker 4: not going to be going out that much.
- 28:17Speaker 1: That's the plan. Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 4: So I'm going to be home more because I'm really
- 28:21Speaker 4: a big fan of my wife and kid. I'd like
- 28:23Speaker 4: to see them more.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Now, in your growth of becoming a stand-up and being
- 28:30Speaker 1: so recognizable... Thank.
- 28:32Speaker 4: You for saying growth as a dwarf. I never hear that.
- 28:35Speaker 4: It's so nice. Getting the vapors.
- 28:38Speaker 1: What are some TV things? I saw you did Reno 911.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Have you been offered through the years when people like
- 28:47Speaker 1: us were getting development deals? What's your sitcom and anything
- 28:51Speaker 1: like that?
- 28:53Speaker 4: Most of the stuff that I'm doing... I always really
- 28:56Speaker 4: just focused on comedy. I got to do some amazing stuff.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Got to do, yeah, the Reno 911, It's a Wonderful
- 29:03Speaker 4: Heist Christmas movie. Got to do my absolute dream job.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I don't know if a gig will ever be better
- 29:10Speaker 4: than this. I got to work with Christopher Guest on
- 29:12Speaker 4: a movie called Mascots, which is on Netflix. And I
- 29:16Speaker 4: did a scene with Fred Willard.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Oh, my God, how amazing.
- 29:19Speaker 4: And he's just... If you're familiar with how Christopher Guest
- 29:24Speaker 4: movies work, they are improvised movies. You have a basic
- 29:28Speaker 4: outline of the scene. They say, all right, it starts here,
- 29:30Speaker 4: it ends here.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Same with 3-0-9-1-1. Same thing.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Very similar. Same with Curb Your Enthusiasm. And that's how
- 29:38Speaker 4: Christopher Guest works. And I was like, cool, I'm going
- 29:41Speaker 4: to improvise a scene with Fred Willard. At the time,
- 29:42Speaker 4: Fred may have been in his late 70s or early 80s.
- 29:46Speaker 4: And I go, okay, so I got to carry this scene.
- 29:49Speaker 4: I got to be like the energetic one because Fred's older. Nope.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Fred was so over the top that if you watch
- 29:57Speaker 4: the scene, I'm... I tone it way down, and I'm
- 30:00Speaker 4: playing the straight man, because I'm like, oh, Fred's the
- 30:03Speaker 4: crazy one. Because he's a damn genius. And shame on
- 30:08Speaker 4: me for thinking I was going to steal the scene
- 30:10Speaker 4: from Fred Willard. Not a chance in hell. Genius man,
- 30:15Speaker 4: even nicer human.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I met him at some stand-up charity thing, and he
- 30:19Speaker 1: was so sweet.
- 30:21Speaker 4: What a sweet man. So, yeah, that was the dream gig.
- 30:23Speaker 4: There's a couple other acting gigs that have come and gone,
- 30:25Speaker 4: but for the most part.
- 30:28Speaker 4: And I especially learned this with the strike that just happened.
- 30:31Speaker 4: I like being a comedian. I like being in charge
- 30:34Speaker 4: of my own stuff. I feel like if you're funny,
- 30:37Speaker 4: you'll always work. Will you work in the ways necessarily
- 30:39Speaker 4: that you want to? We never get what we think
- 30:43Speaker 4: we deserve, but you'll work. If you're really good, you'll work.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I don't want to be determined on a casting director
- 30:50Speaker 4: somewhere to be like, yeah, that's what we need. I
- 30:55Speaker 4: just want to be able to control it. Now, I
- 30:57Speaker 4: got a few things in development right now that are
- 30:59Speaker 4: very exciting. If they go, great, wonderful. I'll be thrilled
- 31:03Speaker 4: to work on them. If they don't, eh, I'll do stand-up.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 4: And that's what I love because you go on stage
- 31:11Speaker 4: and you crack a joke and you get that immediate feedback.
- 31:14Speaker 4: And then, you know, I do a meet and greet
- 31:16Speaker 4: after the show. I'll even do the meet and greets
- 31:18Speaker 4: for the theaters. It'll take a while, but I'll do it. And,
- 31:22Speaker 4: I mean, it's hard for me not to want to,
- 31:25Speaker 4: Say hi to these people at the end of the show.
- 31:27Speaker 4: They're paying my mortgage. Yeah. So thank you, everyone, for
- 31:30Speaker 4: coming out to the shows.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And what's like the most heartwarming or type of thing
- 31:35Speaker 1: that happens when someone comes up to you after that you,
- 31:38Speaker 1: how you've touched their life or their children's life?
- 31:41Speaker 4: This one.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I might get emotional even telling the story, but I'll
- 31:46Speaker 4: try not to. There's a guy who came up to
- 31:49Speaker 4: me and he handed me some military patches and And
- 31:55Speaker 4: some pins and a coin. He was a man. He
- 31:59Speaker 4: was with two sons. And he said, here. And I go, oh,
- 32:03Speaker 4: what are these? He goes, oh, well, these are my patches.
- 32:06Speaker 4: This is my metal. This is my book. And I'm like, whoa,
- 32:08Speaker 4: that's your stuff. Like, you earned that. Take it. Take
- 32:12Speaker 4: it back, please. Thank you. But take it back. That's
- 32:14Speaker 4: your stuff. I didn't serve. That'd be really bad of
- 32:19Speaker 4: all dwarf army. And I say, so please take it back.
- 32:24Speaker 4: And he goes, no, you don't understand. These are my sons.
- 32:28Speaker 4: If I don't find your comedy, they don't have a
- 32:32Speaker 4: dad right now. He goes, I was on the brink.
- 32:35Speaker 4: I was about to end it all. I literally was
- 32:39Speaker 4: sitting in my room with a loaded weapon, and I
- 32:43Speaker 4: was about to end it. And randomly, your stuff came
- 32:47Speaker 4: on Pandora, and I laughed. And that was the first
- 32:51Speaker 4: time I laughed in forever. And I put the gun down,
- 32:55Speaker 4: and I kept listening to you, and I kept laughing.
- 32:58Speaker 4: And that's when I thought, yeah, I can keep going.
- 33:02Speaker 4: And he's telling me this in a line, and I'm
- 33:04Speaker 4: just like, ha!
- 33:06Speaker 1: I have chills all throughout my body. That is so amazing.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I've heard stuff like that. That's when someone comes
- 33:17Speaker 4: up to you and says stuff like that. There was...
- 33:21Speaker 4: I did the Montreal Comedy Festival, and there was a
- 33:26Speaker 4: little person there who came up to me in the hotel,
- 33:30Speaker 4: and he's like, Brad Williams, and he comes up to me,
- 33:33Speaker 4: and he says, dude, I just gotta say, thank you
- 33:36Speaker 4: so much. Like, I started doing comedy because I saw
- 33:40Speaker 4: you do comedy, and I heard it, and I started
- 33:41Speaker 4: doing comedy. I was like, that's awesome. And he goes, yeah,
- 33:44Speaker 4: and this year is my first year at the Montreal
- 33:46Speaker 4: Comedy Festival. And I was like, oh... Like, he got
- 33:51Speaker 4: accepted into the festival. And he started doing comedy from
- 33:55Speaker 4: watching me do comedy. It's like, that's when you, that's
- 34:00Speaker 4: when things really, that's when it puts in perspective. Like, oh,
- 34:04Speaker 4: I'm just doing this.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Because it's just like anything else.
- 34:07Speaker 4: It's a job.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Seeing an image of yourself on TV or in a
- 34:12Speaker 1: profession that you didn't normally see. an image of yourself
- 34:15Speaker 1: doing it's a really important and it makes you go
- 34:18Speaker 1: oh well that person looks like me and they're they're
- 34:22Speaker 1: a doctor or that person is you know a comedian
- 34:26Speaker 1: or acting or so i why shouldn't i be able
- 34:29Speaker 1: to do it now.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Exactly yeah and and i that those are the things
- 34:33Speaker 4: that really get me when i go oh it's not
- 34:35Speaker 4: just me on stage every night telling jokes now when
- 34:38Speaker 4: i think back to my heroes growing up, you know,
- 34:41Speaker 4: you're Robin Williams is your Jonathan winners. You're John Elway
- 34:44Speaker 4: is still in sports reference. Uh, uh, like I, the
- 34:48Speaker 4: way I looked at them now, someone can be looking
- 34:52Speaker 4: at me that way. And that's a, that's a lot
- 34:54Speaker 4: of pressure, a lot of responsibility, but then also a
- 34:57Speaker 4: great motivator because you don't want to let them down.
- 35:00Speaker 4: So you just keep going.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I remember being like 10 and watching Eddie Murphy on
- 35:04Speaker 1: like a call-in show. And he was already, you know,
- 35:09Speaker 1: somewhat famous but young. So it was like on SNL
- 35:12Speaker 1: or whatever. And somebody called in. It was a woman.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And she's like, I just want to say, I always
- 35:17Speaker 1: said if I ever had a chance to talk to you,
- 35:19Speaker 1: I would. And she goes, a couple years ago was
- 35:21Speaker 1: the worst day of my life. My son had died
- 35:24Speaker 1: that day. And I said, I will never, ever laugh again.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I turned on the TV and you were doing Gumby.
- 35:29Speaker 1: His character of Gumby.
- 35:30Speaker 4: SNL, yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And I just remember being very young, being like, I
- 35:34Speaker 1: don't know, it just really hit me. Like, I can remember, like, yesterday, me, like,
- 35:37Speaker 1: if you can have a gift or a career or
- 35:41Speaker 1: something that can make someone laugh on the worst day
- 35:46Speaker 1: of their life where they said, I'm going to either
- 35:48Speaker 1: end my life or never want to laugh again.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 1: That is, when people say, why do you do it? I, like,
- 35:53Speaker 1: literally decided, because I knew I was, like, funny young. Yeah.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I didn't know how would people would say like my,
- 36:00Speaker 1: my teacher in high school was like, I don't know
- 36:02Speaker 1: why you're going to USC. You should be a standup.
- 36:04Speaker 1: And I was like, I know I imitate all these
- 36:06Speaker 1: teachers and stuff. I didn't understand how strangers would find
- 36:09Speaker 1: me funny.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Right.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I didn't get that. There's a process of setting up
- 36:13Speaker 1: a joke and explaining a little bit.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Of course not.
- 36:15Speaker 1: And then, um, and so I, And then when I
- 36:18Speaker 1: was in college, like I was like, oh my God,
- 36:20Speaker 1: like everyone would come down and want to hear like
- 36:22Speaker 1: the recap of the night in the sorority house. They'd
- 36:24Speaker 1: be like, did we miss, you know, breakfast with Heather?
- 36:26Speaker 1: And I remember going, how can I make this a career?
- 36:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I just want to recap a night.
- 36:32Speaker 4: And then look at this. Figured it out. You figured
- 36:36Speaker 4: out how to make this a career.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Might take a minute, but it did work out.
- 36:41Speaker 4: That's so great. And now we're living in such a
- 36:43Speaker 4: wonderful time where for anyone listening to this going, well,
- 36:46Speaker 4: I have this, I have this weird skill that nobody
- 36:51Speaker 4: really knows about. How do I make money on it?
- 36:53Speaker 4: You can. I'm on chiropractic TikTok all the time.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I love it. Wait, do you love chiropractic TikTok?
- 36:59Speaker 4: Love chiropractic TikTok.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Wait, do you go to TikTok? My favorite is the
- 37:02Speaker 1: cot OC chiropractor. I went to him. Have you been
- 37:04Speaker 1: to him? Yeah.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I haven't been to him yet, but I've seen him.
- 37:07Speaker 4: He's cute, too.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Damn cheekbones.
- 37:09Speaker 1: But you know what? I kind of have a thing
- 37:11Speaker 1: where I'm like, I literally watch it and I feel
- 37:15Speaker 1: like it relaxes me. I think it could be psychological. Yes.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Same. The exact same. I watch chiropractic TikTok videos of
- 37:22Speaker 4: just people getting their backs cracked. And I've talked to
- 37:24Speaker 4: my chiropractor. Yeah, I go to a chiropractor about it.
- 37:28Speaker 4: And he goes, you know, they fake the cracking noises.
- 37:31Speaker 4: And I go, I don't care. I'm a fan of
- 37:34Speaker 4: pro wrestling.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Okay? It's fine.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I used to get so off on.
- 37:37Speaker 1: And also if like my sons... Yeah. You know, because
- 37:40Speaker 1: some people just have a more crackle back. Like if
- 37:41Speaker 1: my son is like.
- 37:44Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh my God, thank God you let
- 37:45Speaker 1: me hear that. And I even used to, you know
- 37:47Speaker 1: when like the bubble pops that come and stuff? I
- 37:50Speaker 1: used to just go like, I'd do it myself. I'd
- 37:53Speaker 1: act like just, it's such a weird thing.
- 37:55Speaker 4: It's a weird relief.
- 37:56Speaker 1: And I remember I asked Dr. Drew, I go, could
- 37:59Speaker 1: I be addicted to like back cracking and hearing back cracking?
- 38:02Speaker 1: And he's like, would you leave your family for it?
- 38:04Speaker 1: And I'm like, I guess no. Because no, it's not
- 38:07Speaker 1: an addiction. Okay. So I'm like, okay, it's not.
- 38:09Speaker 4: It's something that makes you feel good.
- 38:11Speaker 1: But it is a little weird. But I'm glad I'm
- 38:13Speaker 1: not the only one.
- 38:14Speaker 4: It's a little weird. But thankfully, the thing that makes
- 38:18Speaker 4: you feel some relief isn't anything that's damaging to other people.
- 38:22Speaker 4: So it's fine. It's not self-destructive. No one ever.
- 38:28Speaker 1: But do you like cracking other people?
- 38:30Speaker 4: I don't. But I like being cracked.
- 38:33Speaker 1: I like watching it. I like both.
- 38:35Speaker 4: So you crack other people.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I'm a versatile.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Okay.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Okay. I like to crack and be cracked. And I
- 38:42Speaker 1: used to like, I'd crack my kids' backs too.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Really?
- 38:46Speaker 1: And then I just.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Do you think we're like, you pick them up?
- 38:48Speaker 1: No, I lay them down and I just go like that.
- 38:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I do the breathing thing and I lay them down.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:52Speaker 1: And then, you know, and then I was like, is
- 38:55Speaker 1: this like a little weird? Because I remember like one
- 38:57Speaker 1: time I said, it's like, I don't want to do
- 38:59Speaker 1: that weird thing we do anymore.
- 39:00Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh gosh.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Oh no. This sounds really creepy.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Great. He's going to be in therapy in 10 years
- 39:05Speaker 4: being like, then my mom told me to lay down
- 39:07Speaker 4: and crack my back. Like he's going to need physical
- 39:11Speaker 4: therapy or a chiropractor.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Because like a little kid, crackable back is like pretty great.
- 39:17Speaker 4: They'll snap back.
- 39:19Speaker 1: They'll find.
- 39:20Speaker 4: They're going to be okay.
- 39:22Speaker 1: It's amazing, yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 4: It's so funny the things that you find relief in.
- 39:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:30Speaker 4: My wife watches a lot of those. I describe it
- 39:35Speaker 4: as ASMR baking. Like, it's like, yeah, like, and you hear, like,
- 39:42Speaker 4: every noise of the pan going in and the thing crying.
- 39:45Speaker 4: That's like, yeah, it's calming. Yeah, she watches that, and
- 39:48Speaker 4: that cools her down. Meanwhile, I'm over here like, yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 4: break his neck. And once someone explained to me, because
- 39:55Speaker 4: the first time I got my back cracked and someone,
- 39:57Speaker 4: you know, they did the neck thing, and I'm like,
- 39:59Speaker 4: I died, right?
- 40:00Speaker 1: Like, I died?
- 40:01Speaker 4: Yeah. My head popped off? And they're like, no, it's
- 40:03Speaker 4: literally impossible to. do the thing that you see in
- 40:06Speaker 4: the movies like it cannot happen like the amount of
- 40:09Speaker 4: force that has to and they did the whole thing
- 40:11Speaker 4: I'm like okay I'm good now like once someone explained
- 40:14Speaker 4: to me that you know all the Chuck Norris movies
- 40:17Speaker 4: I've watched where he just goes hurt and like breaks
- 40:20Speaker 4: a neck he goes that's not real I go great
- 40:24Speaker 4: I'm comfortable now crack away crack away go nuts I'm
- 40:28Speaker 4: good I'm.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Fine and how did you meet your wife.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Oh I met my wife you know what Here's a
- 40:36Speaker 4: juicy scoop for you. I met my wife on an app.
- 40:41Speaker 4: I had to move to San Francisco to do a
- 40:44Speaker 4: radio show that lasted about three months. I tried to
- 40:48Speaker 4: do morning radio for about three months. This is like, okay,
- 40:50Speaker 4: so we've been together for like 10 years. So yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 4: like 2014, 15.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:55Speaker 4: So you got offered a radio show.
- 40:58Speaker 1: You're like, I want this steady gig.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Sounds great.
- 41:00Speaker 4: I want to get off the road. I don't want
- 41:02Speaker 4: to be on flights every week. where it would it
- 41:04Speaker 4: would i realize i think i did didn't like more uh...
- 41:07Speaker 4: than uh... flights is waking up at four o'clock in
- 41:10Speaker 4: the morning uh... to be on air by five thirty
- 41:13Speaker 4: and then after you've done four hours of trying to
- 41:16Speaker 4: be funny with no sleep then a program director who's
- 41:19Speaker 4: never been funny in their entire lives us city sits
- 41:23Speaker 4: you down and goes okay let's go through the entire
- 41:26Speaker 4: show and every joke that you made in and all
- 41:29Speaker 4: really do you think that was funny ago And if
- 41:34Speaker 4: there was an audience, they would have laughed too. It
- 41:37Speaker 4: was not for me.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 41:39Speaker 4: God bless the morning radio people. I love morning radio guys.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Now you don't have to do that. I kind of
- 41:45Speaker 1: feel like that was one good thing I've talked about
- 41:47Speaker 1: with this comedians that, that kind of died with COVID
- 41:51Speaker 1: was not having to do the morning radio really anymore.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Like we used to have to do.
- 41:56Speaker 4: There, there are still a few guys and girls out
- 41:58Speaker 4: there that even if I'm sold out, like It's worth it.
- 42:01Speaker 4: I still go in. I could go through them. The
- 42:06Speaker 4: DVE show in Pittsburgh, Lewis and Kathy, the guys from Philly.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Darn it, I don't know their names. But yeah, there's
- 42:16Speaker 4: a bunch of radio shows that no matter what, I
- 42:20Speaker 4: will still go in. They're a blast. But yeah, so
- 42:24Speaker 4: I was doing morning radio. I didn't like it. But
- 42:28Speaker 4: we had a bit on the air where we were
- 42:30Speaker 4: talking about me meeting people because I didn't know anyone
- 42:32Speaker 4: in San Francisco. So I would go on dating apps
- 42:36Speaker 4: to meet people just as friends. Just to be like, hey,
- 42:39Speaker 4: I'm new in this city. I want to make a friend.
- 42:41Speaker 4: Now there's literally an option on Tinder where you can
- 42:43Speaker 4: be like, no, this is not sexual. I just want
- 42:46Speaker 4: to meet a friend. Now there's like, yeah, a friend
- 42:49Speaker 4: of mine goes on Bumble all the time and just
- 42:51Speaker 4: goes on friend dates.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I think that's so important.
- 42:53Speaker 4: It's wonderful.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I think it's so great. It's so great.
- 42:55Speaker 4: But then I was doing it. You know, old school style.
- 42:59Speaker 4: But then a listener called in and suggested an app
- 43:02Speaker 4: called Field. F-E-E-L-D. And I looked it up. And this
- 43:08Speaker 4: is for, all right, get ready, listeners. This is for
- 43:12Speaker 4: people that are trying to have threesomes.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 43:15Speaker 4: And multiple partners.
- 43:17Speaker 1: All right.
- 43:17Speaker 4: That's the sound of some of your listeners signing off
- 43:20Speaker 4: and going to download the app. But, yes, this is
- 43:23Speaker 4: a real app. I went on there. I matched with
- 43:25Speaker 4: two women. We're all going to go out together. One
- 43:27Speaker 4: of the women, last minute, didn't show up. I'm imagining
- 43:31Speaker 4: because she looked at my profile and was like, oh,
- 43:34Speaker 4: his whole body fits in the default photo. No. I'm good.
- 43:38Speaker 4: And she didn't show up. But I messaged the other
- 43:41Speaker 4: woman and said, all right, we lost one. Do you
- 43:43Speaker 4: want to still go out? And she said yes. And
- 43:45Speaker 4: two years to the day of that date, I proposed
- 43:47Speaker 4: to that woman.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Do you guys do threesomes?
- 43:50Speaker 4: We have. Oh. Back in the day. With the kid,
- 43:53Speaker 4: it's very difficult.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:55Speaker 4: You're not really in the mood after you've been cleaning
- 43:58Speaker 4: up shit all day. So not really feeling sexy that
- 44:02Speaker 4: you want to invite someone else in. But we used to.
- 44:04Speaker 4: And it was a lot of fun. It was great.
- 44:07Speaker 4: It was all like, you know, both of us had
- 44:10Speaker 4: to be really on board. There were times when, of course,
- 44:13Speaker 4: I was on board and she was like, not tonight.
- 44:15Speaker 4: I'm like, cool, fine. And obviously, finding a partner, that's
- 44:19Speaker 4: a whole other deal.
- 44:21Speaker 1: How would you find the partners?
- 44:24Speaker 4: Sometimes they would be at shows, at bars, just wherever.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Would you talk about it on stage? Would people know that, like...
- 44:31Speaker 1: I have. Would you hint, kind of, to put the
- 44:33Speaker 1: feelers out?
- 44:34Speaker 4: It's kind of cheesy to do that. Why?
- 44:37Speaker 1: Why not just kill two birds with one stone?
- 44:39Speaker 4: I did at some point. I feel bad saying that,
- 44:41Speaker 4: but I did. But the thing is, is like... I'm
- 44:45Speaker 4: a firm believer in whatever your kink is, your weird
- 44:49Speaker 4: thing is. If it doesn't hurt anybody, if everyone involved
- 44:52Speaker 4: is a consenting adult, great.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 4: Let your freak flag fly. There's some weird stuff on Pornhub, Heather.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Okay?
- 45:00Speaker 4: There's some weird stuff.
- 45:01Speaker 1: I wouldn't know. I've never been on in my life.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Sure.
- 45:03Speaker 1: No, I really haven't.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Really?
- 45:04Speaker 1: I really haven't.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Never.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Never. I don't even know how to get on. Never.
- 45:09Speaker 4: You know how to get on.
- 45:11Speaker 1: No, I don't. What are you, just Google porn? I
- 45:13Speaker 1: literally don't know.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Google tits stuff comes up.
- 45:17Speaker 1: No.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Google, well, like, do you have.
- 45:19Speaker 1: A- Like, the only porn that I've ever really watched was, like,
- 45:24Speaker 1: really in the beginning of our marriage, we had Cinemax,
- 45:28Speaker 1: and I loved that.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Oh, Cinemax. That's, like, softcore.
- 45:31Speaker 1: I know. I liked that.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Okay.
- 45:32Speaker 1: We used to just, like, we would be, like, oh,
- 45:34Speaker 1: I think this was filmed in your house, you know,
- 45:37Speaker 1: because we, like, live in the Valley.
- 45:39Speaker 4: Probably was.
- 45:39Speaker 1: And I'd be like, no, that's Northridge.
- 45:41Speaker 4: I know where that is in Northridge.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Probably was. And, yeah, but now not.
- 45:45Speaker 4: No, you don't have to expose it, but, like, do
- 45:48Speaker 4: you have a kink, or are you pretty just like.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Besides the backcrack kink?
- 45:52Speaker 4: Oh, the backcrack kink.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Okay. No, but, like, I mean, I.
- 45:56Speaker 4: Just missionary with eye contact, you're fine.
- 45:59Speaker 1: No, but I think threesomes, I would never do a threesome,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but I think a threesome is a pretty... Not freaky.
- 46:06Speaker 1: In this world, I don't think it's like that. I
- 46:09Speaker 1: don't think it's that shocking. It seems like a lot
- 46:11Speaker 1: of people, myself, know, but a lot of people have partaked.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Whether it's a one-time, it seems like most people I know,
- 46:19Speaker 1: if it's happened, it's Vegas.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Smalls, a lot of Vegas. Yeah, we went to Vegas.
- 46:25Speaker 4: That was every one of them.
- 46:26Speaker 1: My friends are like, Any front I know that had
- 46:28Speaker 1: a threesome, it always was in Vegas. Yeah. Because always,
- 46:30Speaker 1: let's do it in Vegas.
- 46:32Speaker 4: And if you're a couple out there and you're thinking
- 46:34Speaker 4: about it, I will give you this tip.
- 46:36Speaker 1: What are the tips?
- 46:37Speaker 3: Rules.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Set the rules in advance. Set the rules of what
- 46:41Speaker 4: you're comfortable with because there's.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So the rules could be what? That you can... Like
- 46:47Speaker 1: some people are like, okay, you can't penetrate the girl
- 46:53Speaker 1: but you can penetrate me and I... But the girl can...
- 46:57Speaker 1: do something with you and i can do something with
- 46:58Speaker 1: a girl but you can't so that is that a
- 47:00Speaker 1: common rule.
- 47:02Speaker 4: That's a common rule so find out.
- 47:04Speaker 1: And then other people are like i don't care you
- 47:06Speaker 1: can screw the girl it doesn't matter yes but you
- 47:08Speaker 1: have to know that up front because then it's.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Like discuss that yeah and also when when you discuss
- 47:14Speaker 4: that let's say your uh... your uh... partner says yeah
- 47:19Speaker 4: you do whatever you want with the with the other
- 47:21Speaker 4: person uh... if you do and then that partner doesn't
- 47:26Speaker 4: feel comfortable, like they thought they were going to be
- 47:28Speaker 4: comfortable but then they're not comfortable, have a safe word
- 47:31Speaker 4: or something that you can say that wins like, whoa,
- 47:34Speaker 4: thought I was going to be good, not good, stop. Like,
- 47:37Speaker 4: we have to have that. Okay. Because then it's not
- 47:42Speaker 4: fun anymore. If one partner is just harboring these ill
- 47:46Speaker 4: feelings while you're having fun, not good, not good, not, not,
- 47:51Speaker 4: not going to be fun. So, The advice I would
- 47:54Speaker 4: always put out is just constant communication with your partner.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Make sure everyone is on the same page. Also, be
- 48:00Speaker 4: on the same page for what happens afterward. Is this
- 48:03Speaker 4: a person that, all right, you are not allowed to
- 48:07Speaker 4: talk to this person anymore? Can you talk to this
- 48:09Speaker 4: person anymore? Are they a friend? Are they just a random?
- 48:11Speaker 4: Do they stay a random?
- 48:13Speaker 1: And what is your suggestion? I would think it should
- 48:16Speaker 1: always be randoms and it should always be a one
- 48:18Speaker 1: and done.
- 48:19Speaker 4: For the most part, that's safe. That's pretty safe.
- 48:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Because God forbid someone starts hitting it off with
- 48:28Speaker 1: the person, whether it's the girls start hitting it off
- 48:31Speaker 1: or you start hitting it, then the jealousy.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:34Speaker 4: And, oh, also as a man, I will say this
- 48:39Speaker 4: to the men that might be involved in one of those,
- 48:43Speaker 4: if it's like a male and two female thing, it's
- 48:48Speaker 4: not about you. Maybe it's your birthday and they make
- 48:51Speaker 4: it about you, but it's not about you. It's not
- 48:54Speaker 4: going to be like the pornos you watch where the
- 48:56Speaker 4: girls are fighting over it.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Like they've never seen a penis.
- 48:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not going to be that. The girls are
- 49:02Speaker 4: there mostly to have fun with each other. Enjoy that.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Be happy that you're in the room.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Would you ever do two guys and a girl?
- 49:12Speaker 4: I have, not with my wife. I've never done that
- 49:14Speaker 4: with her, and I don't think I could be I
- 49:17Speaker 4: don't think I could do that with her but I've
- 49:20Speaker 4: been in one of those situations that was interesting not
- 49:25Speaker 4: a huge fan of those right not a fan it's
- 49:30Speaker 4: I feel it's weird to be like having your fun
- 49:34Speaker 4: and you look up and there's just a dude just
- 49:35Speaker 4: staring at you.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Like yeah was that a dude you.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Knew no It was never a dude I knew.
- 49:43Speaker 1: I feel like all of this was after Saturday night show.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yeah. There's been a lot of after shows. You did
- 49:49Speaker 4: a Thursday.
- 49:49Speaker 1: You did a two Friday. You did a two Saturday.
- 49:52Speaker 4: And then some stuff happened.
- 49:54Speaker 1: That Saturday.
- 49:55Speaker 4: And then a couple. And what was the flight?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Was it a flight later in the day on Sunday?
- 50:00Speaker 4: Sunday, 6 a.m. So you guys got to get the
- 50:02Speaker 4: hell out of here. That helps. When you have the
- 50:06Speaker 4: flight to be like, Hey, I know it's afterward and
- 50:09Speaker 4: it's 3 o'clock in the morning and you guys want
- 50:10Speaker 4: to stay over, but I got to leave in an hour. So, deuces.
- 50:13Speaker 4: Get out of here.
- 50:15Speaker 1: I love your energy because that's like the last thing
- 50:17Speaker 1: I want to do after five show weekend. Yeah. Is
- 50:20Speaker 1: to have to be doing a choreographed routine. Like, nothing.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I'm just like, please let me get in my room
- 50:28Speaker 1: and take off these heels and these eyelashes and crawl
- 50:30Speaker 1: into my bed and watch Dateline.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Yes. And, okay, so I would say that for women,
- 50:39Speaker 4: I absolutely get that. Because you just said two things
- 50:42Speaker 4: that I never had to do. I never had to
- 50:44Speaker 4: take off the heels.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Or the lashes.
- 50:46Speaker 4: I never had to take off the lashes.
- 50:48Speaker 2: So.
- 50:49Speaker 4: like get the face off. Like once, like once you
- 50:52Speaker 4: add that step in a, like I just come in
- 50:54Speaker 4: and I collapse on the bed and I'm good.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:56Speaker 4: You know, so yes, once you add those steps, I
- 50:59Speaker 4: could totally see why you're just like, no, I'm tired.
- 51:02Speaker 4: I got more, like the show is done and then
- 51:04Speaker 4: there's a whole process to get ready for bed. So
- 51:07Speaker 4: I totally get it. Totally understand.
- 51:10Speaker 1: Um, Okay, so I love it. So you have this special.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Yep.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Now, when you do a special, how many specials have
- 51:15Speaker 1: you had?
- 51:16Speaker 4: All right, I have two that were on Showtime, then
- 51:21Speaker 4: were bought by Amazon Prime. You can still watch them there.
- 51:23Speaker 4: They're called Fun Size and Daddy Issues. They're on Amazon Prime.
- 51:25Speaker 4: Watch them. One on Netflix. That's called The Degenerates. That's
- 51:29Speaker 4: a bunch of comics and X-rated stuff, and we all
- 51:32Speaker 4: do about a half hour. So technically three specials. This
- 51:37Speaker 4: will be my fourth.
- 51:38Speaker 1: And once, like, you tape your special, are you one
- 51:42Speaker 1: of those comics that are like, this is, I will
- 51:45Speaker 1: never say this joke again for the rest of my life?
- 51:48Speaker 4: If someone calls it out during a show, I'll do it.
- 51:51Speaker 4: I'll do a jukebox.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Like a bit, yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a bit I do about how I hate
- 51:57Speaker 4: it when guys pee at the short urinal, because that's
- 52:00Speaker 4: my urinal. Like, you don't think it's yours. It's mine.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Back away from it.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 4: There's a bit I do about that that some people
- 52:07Speaker 4: call out.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 4: I did a military joke about an experience I had
- 52:11Speaker 4: on a Blackhawk helicopter where a guy had to throw
- 52:14Speaker 4: me in. Dwarves don't like being tossed. Don't do that.
- 52:17Speaker 4: But sometimes people call those jokes out.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:20Speaker 4: And that's fine. I'll do the bit.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:23Speaker 4: If it makes you happy, great. There's a bunch of
- 52:25Speaker 4: people in the audience that probably haven't heard the joke before. Yeah. Fine.
- 52:28Speaker 4: But for the most part, like, so this special, it's
- 52:32Speaker 4: all out the window. So when you watch the special
- 52:35Speaker 4: and enjoy it and then go, we got to see
- 52:36Speaker 4: that guy live, you're going to see all new material
- 52:40Speaker 4: when you go to bradwilliamscomedy.com and see all the tour dates.
- 52:44Speaker 4: And man, are there a.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Lot of tour dates. And let me tell you what
- 52:45Speaker 1: you have going on.
- 52:47Speaker 4: Please do.
- 52:48Speaker 1: In January.
- 52:49Speaker 4: January.
- 52:50Speaker 1: So exciting. You're going to be in Santa Barbara?
- 52:53Speaker 4: Yeah, Libero Theater. That's where I shot Butt Size. Very nice.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Oh my God, gorgeous.
- 52:56Speaker 4: We sold out the first show and now we added
- 52:58Speaker 4: a second show on.
- 52:59Speaker 1: And then you're in Sacramento.
- 53:00Speaker 4: I've done the Crest Theater.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I've done that.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Yeah, sold out the first show, added a second one.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Love it. You're in San Diego.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Balboa Theater. Still a few tickets available for that one.
- 53:10Speaker 1: And then you're off to Florida, Tempe in February.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 1: There's so many. I mean, so many dates.
- 53:17Speaker 4: So many dates. I wanted to make sure that I
- 53:19Speaker 4: hit in February. February 9th is the Fox Theater in Bakersfield.
- 53:24Speaker 4: February 10th He's the Ace Hotel here in Los Angeles,
- 53:28Speaker 4: the theater at the Ace Hotel.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, awesome.
- 53:30Speaker 4: Beautiful theater. I saw Coldplay there, and now I'm going
- 53:33Speaker 4: to be playing there. That's weird.
- 53:35Speaker 1: What's that date?
- 53:36Speaker 4: February 10th.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 53:38Speaker 4: February 10th, so get tickets to that one. I want
- 53:41Speaker 4: that one to be packed. Yeah, there's the Instagram.
- 53:43Speaker 1: It's bradwilliamscomic.
- 53:45Speaker 4: And as you can see... Hanging out at 349,000 followers.
- 53:49Speaker 4: So Juicy Scoops, let's get this up to 350. Let's
- 53:54Speaker 4: get this up to 350. Let's get a nice even number.
- 53:56Speaker 4: I'm a little OCD that way. I hate that it's
- 53:58Speaker 4: at 349. Let's get it up to 350. Or if
- 54:01Speaker 4: like 9,000 if you want to bail. Yeah, let's do
- 54:04Speaker 4: it at 360. Yeah, and you want to go down?
- 54:06Speaker 1: No, no. You want to go down to 340?
- 54:08Speaker 4: That's fine.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Yeah, 350, 360.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Let's get it up.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Well, thank you. I'm so glad you came. This is
- 54:14Speaker 1: really good to get your whole Juicy Life story. It
- 54:17Speaker 1: was very nice, inspiring, and hilarious.
- 54:19Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I'm excited for your tour. It's going to be amazing.
- 54:23Speaker 4: I love it when fans come to my show and
- 54:25Speaker 4: they tell me about all the other comedians that they
- 54:28Speaker 4: support and that they love, and your name comes up
- 54:30Speaker 4: a bunch. You have a lot of Juicy Scoopers that
- 54:33Speaker 4: are coming out to my shows. It makes me happy
- 54:36Speaker 4: when people like other comedians because it's like, oh, this
- 54:40Speaker 4: isn't like I don't want comedy to be like, I
- 54:42Speaker 4: like this guy or girl, so now I can't like
- 54:45Speaker 4: anybody else. No, it's comedy. No one likes one band.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Like all the bands. Like all the comedians. Consume your show.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Consume my show. Listen to podcasts. Watch everyone's specials. Find
- 54:57Speaker 4: the comedians that speak to you, however they do, and
- 55:00Speaker 4: enjoy their stuff. So yeah, and I really dig your fans.
- 55:03Speaker 4: They're always very kind.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I have the best. I really do. They're so supportive.
- 55:08Speaker 1: They're so sweet. They're smart. They bring their family. They
- 55:11Speaker 1: bring their friends. They introduce people. They share it. So
- 55:13Speaker 1: I love it.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Do they bring you gifts? Do you get gifts?
- 55:16Speaker 1: I do get some gifts.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Those are fun.
- 55:18Speaker 1: I get wine. I get homemade food. And someone's like,
- 55:21Speaker 1: you're not supposed to eat that food. I'm like, this woman,
- 55:24Speaker 1: I know she knows how to make a brownie. And
- 55:26Speaker 1: I'm eating this brownie.
- 55:27Speaker 4: I'm eating this brownie.
- 55:28Speaker 1: I'm eating this brownie.
- 55:28Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 55:29Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 55:30Speaker 4: It's all good. What's the weirdest gift you've ever gotten?
- 55:34Speaker 1: Tell me yours, because I don't really get anything weird.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I get good stuff.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I just got one that blew my mind. Sometimes people,
- 55:43Speaker 4: one person on my keychain right now is a keychain
- 55:49Speaker 4: that someone made, and they saw a photo of me
- 55:51Speaker 4: and my daughter on my Instagram and made it into
- 55:53Speaker 4: a keychain.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Oh, I love that. Yeah, I've had that. That's so sweet.
- 55:55Speaker 4: Oh, it's the best. One person did a painting of
- 55:58Speaker 4: my daughter, which was like, it's hanging in my house.
- 56:01Speaker 4: So that's cool. Weirdest one. Uh, someone gave me a
- 56:07Speaker 4: custom made shillelagh.
- 56:10Speaker 1: What's that?
- 56:11Speaker 4: It's like an, it's, it's like a musical thing. It's
- 56:14Speaker 4: an Irish death hammer. Oh, it's a weapon, but like
- 56:18Speaker 4: they made it for me. It looks like a walking stick,
- 56:20Speaker 4: but it's got a huge knob. And then they put
- 56:22Speaker 4: spikes on the, on the shaft of it. So now
- 56:27Speaker 4: that's under my bed. So if you ever break into
- 56:29Speaker 4: my house, you're going to have a dwarf swinging a
- 56:33Speaker 4: shillelagh at you.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I think that actually was a really good gift for you.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Yeah, Irish Death Hammer, which by the way, if you're
- 56:41Speaker 4: out there and you're starting a band, Irish Death Hammer.
- 56:44Speaker 4: Great name. That is a great name for a band.
- 56:47Speaker 4: Hope to see you at Coachella.
- 56:51Speaker 1: I love it. Thank you so much. Thanks, Brad.
- 56:53Speaker 4: Thanks, Heather.
- 56:54Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 56:56Speaker 3: Christmas shopping has already started in our house. My daughter
- 56:59Speaker 3: is so organised, already planning Christmas gifts from Macaulay. Hair
- 57:04Speaker 3: care for her aunt and a fab fragrance for her bestie.
- 57:06Speaker 3: But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm
- 57:09Speaker 3: an early bird, buying one present a week from now
- 57:11Speaker 3: till Christmas, which makes budgeting less stressful. I can buy
- 57:14Speaker 3: in-store or online from Macaulay.ie for home delivery or free
- 57:18Speaker 3: click and collect.
- 57:19Speaker 1: So easy.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Gifts they'll cherish at prices you'll love.
