- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 15th.
- 0:11Wise up for real life. Have you ever looked back and
- 0:14thought, I really wish I had listened?
- 0:16Maybe someone warned you about a relationship that would end
- 0:19badly, a habit that would catch up with you, or a shortcut that
- 0:22seemed harmless at the time. In the moment, advice can feel
- 0:26annoying or unnecessary. But later, when the consequences
- 0:30hit, wisdom suddenly makes a lot more sense.
- 0:33Real life has a way of teaching hard lessons.
- 0:36When we ignore good counsel in Proverbs chapter 4, wisdom isn't
- 0:40presented as boring or optional. It's urgent.
- 0:43It's personal. Verse 6 says do not forsake her,
- 0:46and she will keep you. Love her and she will guard you.
- 0:49Wisdom isn't trying to control you, it's trying to protect you.
- 0:53Like guardrails on a dangerous Rd.
- 0:55Wisdom keeps you from veering off into choices that can cost
- 0:58you peace, integrity, or direction.
- 1:00God knows the terrain ahead even when you don't, and His wisdom
- 1:04is one of the main ways He keeps you safe.
- 1:07Jesus connects this directly to real life in Matthew chapter 12
- 1:10verse 35 when he says the good person out of his good treasure
- 1:14brings forth good and the evil person out of his evil treasure
- 1:17brings forth evil. In other words, what you store
- 1:21up inside eventually spills out. Your words, reactions,
- 1:24attitudes, and decisions all flow from what's filling your
- 1:27heart. If you're constantly feeding on
- 1:29negativity, compromise, or empty trends, that's what will show up
- 1:33in your life. But when you fill your heart
- 1:35with God's truth, wisdom, and perspective, something different
- 1:39overflows. Wisdom isn't just about knowing
- 1:41the right thing. It's about loving the right
- 1:44thing. Proverbs says wisdom guards
- 1:46those who love her. That means choosing God's voice
- 1:49even when it's quieter than the noise around you.
- 1:51It means listening when Scripture challenges you, when
- 1:54godly advice nudges you, and when the Holy Spirit gently
- 1:58warns you. Wisdom often speaks before
- 2:00trouble arrives. The question is whether we'll
- 2:03pay attention. Real wisdom prepares you for
- 2:05real life. It shapes how you handle
- 2:08pressure, conflict, temptation, and decisions that don't come
- 2:11with clear answers. It helps you pause before you
- 2:14speak, choose before you react, and think long term instead of
- 2:18living for the moment. When you hold on to wisdom, it
- 2:20holds on to you. You don't have to learn
- 2:22everything the hard way. God is offering wisdom freely,
- 2:26lovingly, and daily. Don't just hear it, hold on to
- 2:29it. Let it guard your heart and
- 2:31guide your steps. Let's pray.
- 2:33Heavenly Father, help me not just listen to Your wisdom, but
- 2:36truly value it. Teach me to love what You love
- 2:39and to fill my heart with Your truth.
- 2:41Guard my mind, my words and my choices so that my life reflects
- 2:45Your goodness. Keep me from foolish paths and
- 2:48lead me in wisdom that protects and shapes my future in Jesus
- 2:52name, Amen. What if the ache you feel for
- 2:55more is actually God calling you deeper?

- 4:19Listen sons to a father's instruction.
- 4:22Pay attention and no understanding, for I give you
- 4:25sound learning. Don't forsake my law, for I was
- 4:28a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my
- 4:31mother. He taught me and said to me, let
- 4:34your heart retain my words, Keep my commandments and live.
- 4:37Get wisdom, get understanding. Don't forget and don't deviate
- 4:41from the words of my mouth. Don't forsake her and she will
- 4:44preserve you. Love her and she will keep you.
- 4:47Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom.
- 4:50Yes, though it costs all your possessions.
- 4:52Get understanding. Esteem her and she will exalt
- 4:55you. She will bring you to honor.
- 4:56When you embrace her, she will give to your head a Garland of
- 4:59grace. She will deliver a crown of
- 5:01splendor to you. Matthew chapter 12 World English
- 5:04Bible At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the
- 5:08grain fields. His disciples were hungry and
- 5:11began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.
- 5:13But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, Behold, your
- 5:17disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.
- 5:20But he said to them, Haven't you read what David did when he was
- 5:23hungry, and those who were with him, how he entered into God's
- 5:26house and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to
- 5:30eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
- 5:33Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath day the
- 5:36priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless?
- 5:39But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.
- 5:42But if you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not
- 5:46sacrifice, you wouldn't have condemned the guiltless, for the
- 5:49Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.
- 5:51He departed from there and went into their synagogue, and
- 5:54behold, there was a man with a withered hand.
- 5:57They asked him, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day, so that
- 6:01they might accuse him? He said to them, What man is
- 6:04there among you who has one sheep?
- 6:06And if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won't he
- 6:09grab onto it and lift it out? Of how much more value then is a
- 6:12man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do
- 6:15good on the Sabbath day. Then He told the man, Stretch
- 6:18out your hand. He stretched it out, and it was
- 6:21restored whole just like the other.
- 6:23But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how they
- 6:26might destroy him. Jesus perceiving that, withdrew
- 6:29from there. Great multitudes followed him,
- 6:32and he healed them all and commanded them that they should
- 6:34not make him known that it might be fulfilled.
- 6:36Which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, Behold my
- 6:40servant whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul is well
- 6:43pleased, I will put my spirit on him.
- 6:46He will proclaim justice to the nation's.
- 6:48He will not strive nor shout, neither will anyone hear his
- 6:51voice in the streets. He won't break a bruised Reed,
- 6:55He won't quench a smoking flax, Until He leads justice to
- 6:58victory in his name the nations will hope.
- 7:01Then one possessed by a demon, blind and mute was brought to
- 7:04him, and he healed him, so that the blind and mute man both
- 7:07spoke and saw. All the multitudes were amazed
- 7:10and said, Can this be the son of David?
- 7:13But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This man does not
- 7:16cast out demons except by Beelzebul the Prince of the
- 7:19demons. Knowing their thoughts, Jesus
- 7:22said to them, Every Kingdom divided against itself is
- 7:25brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against
- 7:28itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is
- 7:32divided against himself. How then will his Kingdom stand?
- 7:36If I by Beelzebul cast out demons?
- 7:38By whom do your children cast them out?
- 7:40Therefore they will be your judges.
- 7:42But if I, by the Spirit of God cast out demons, then God's
- 7:46Kingdom has come upon you. Or how can one enter into the
- 7:49House of the strong man and plunder his goods?
- 7:51Unless he first bind the strong man, then he will plunder his
- 7:55house. He who is not with me is against
- 7:58me, and he who doesn't gather with me scatters.
- 8:00Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven
- 8:04men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven
- 8:07men. Whoever speaks a word against
- 8:10the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him.
- 8:12But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be
- 8:15forgiven him either in this age or in that which is to come.
- 8:19Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree
- 8:22corrupt and its fruit corrupt, for the tree is known by its
- 8:25fruit. You offspring of Vipers, how can
- 8:28you, being evil, speak good things?
- 8:30For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
- 8:34The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things,
- 8:37and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things.
- 8:40I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give
- 8:44account of it in the day of Judgment, for by your words you
- 8:47will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
- 8:50Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, Teacher, we
- 8:54want to see a sign from you. But He answered them.
- 8:57An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign,
- 9:00but no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the
- 9:03prophet. For as Jonah was 3 days and
- 9:06three nights in the belly of the huge fish, so will the Son of
- 9:09Man be 3 days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
- 9:12The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgement with this
- 9:15generation and will condemn it, for they repented at the
- 9:18preaching of Jonah and behold, someone greater than Jonah is
- 9:21here. The queen of the South will rise
- 9:24up in the judgement with this generation and will condemn it,
- 9:27for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of
- 9:30Solomon, and behold, someone greater than Solomon is here.
- 9:34When an unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he passes through
- 9:37waterless places seeking rest, and doesn't find it.
- 9:41Then he says, I will return into my house from which I came.
- 9:44And when he has come back, he finds it empty, swept, and put
- 9:47an order. Then he goes and takes with
- 9:50himself seven other spirits more evil than he is, and they enter
- 9:53in and dwell there. The last state of that man
- 9:56becomes worse than the first. Even so will it be also to this
- 10:00evil generation. While he was yet speaking to the
- 10:03multitudes, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside,
- 10:07seeking to speak to him. One said to him, Behold, your
- 10:10mother and your brothers stand outside, seeking to speak to
- 10:12you. But he answered him, who spoke
- 10:14to him, Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?
- 10:18He stretched out his hand toward his disciples and said, Behold
- 10:21my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my
- 10:24father who is in heaven, he is my brother and sister and
- 10:28mother. Thanks for joining us on Bible
