- 0:16Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome everybody to episode one thirty three of
- 0:19Speaker 1: Cards and Categories. I am my Cool Art, and I
- 0:22Speaker 1: am joined this week by my very good friend and
- 0:25Speaker 1: usual host co host Jeremy Brewer. I mean, I guess
- 0:29Speaker 1: you were only out for those two weeks, but you've
- 0:31Speaker 1: been returned. And then we took a week off last
- 0:33Speaker 1: week as we were just enjoying some opening day baseball,
- 0:37Speaker 1: So we're back to cover what happened on Opening Day?
- 0:40Speaker 1: How was it for you? Opening?
- 0:42Speaker 2: It was fun, it was it was it was a
- 0:44Speaker 2: lot going on. It's it's one of those you know
- 0:46Speaker 2: you get in the first few days of the season.
- 0:48Speaker 2: It's like everything that you weren't sure about now it's
- 0:51Speaker 2: guaranteed to happen er and guaranteed not right. Like it's
- 0:54Speaker 2: that you know, Mike Crout's the Hall of Famer once again,
- 0:57Speaker 2: and you know there's like Aaron Judge struck out for
- 1:00Speaker 2: a few times and all of a sudden he was terrible.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Then he had a ton of home runs.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So like it's it's those early, early things.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But it was just fun to see real baseball, see
- 1:09Speaker 2: pitchers going deeper into games. It just it just feels different.
- 1:13Speaker 2: So I'm I'm I'm happy to be back. I'm so
- 1:16Speaker 2: excited to be back. I was jumping between games on
- 1:18Speaker 2: MLB TV like like crazy, just watching every little thing,
- 1:23Speaker 2: you know, a little ADHD style MLB watching.
- 1:27Speaker 1: So it was good. Yeah, it was a blast. It's
- 1:30Speaker 1: been a fun opening week here in MLB where I mean,
- 1:34Speaker 1: there's been a lot of interesting games and a lot
- 1:36Speaker 1: of interesting performances. I think the biggest one, though, is
- 1:39Speaker 1: the the rookies. The rookies have showed up here, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: I mean we're going to actually talk about the debut
- 1:45Speaker 1: of another one that's about to happen tomorrow, and so
- 1:49Speaker 1: before we even get into that, let me also talk
- 1:51Speaker 1: about today's topic is covering investments that we're making in
- 1:56Speaker 1: both the Baseball Card and Dynasty League realms. So I
- 1:59Speaker 1: think that also kind of tease up to what we've
- 2:02Speaker 1: seen from some of these prospects that have really showed
- 2:04Speaker 1: up during the opening week, because you're looking at guys
- 2:06Speaker 1: who could have that impact either later this year or
- 2:09Speaker 1: early next year. We did this exercise last year and
- 2:15Speaker 1: I would say we did all right. We had we
- 2:16Speaker 1: had investments in like Leo Dallas, Debrees and Haesus made
- 2:20Speaker 1: and Maximo Costa, who jumped up a little bit. But
- 2:24Speaker 1: if you want to go back to that, it is
- 2:27Speaker 1: episode eighty three when we did this last year. So
- 2:31Speaker 1: this year we're gonna split it a little bit. You
- 2:32Speaker 1: did hitters because that's your focus over at Rasball. I
- 2:35Speaker 1: did pictures because I've been doing starting pitching over at
- 2:37Speaker 1: Baseball Prospectus. And these rookies that we've got for twenty
- 2:42Speaker 1: twenty six. Though it has been quite the standout, has
- 2:46Speaker 1: it not. I mean it's got to be also tough
- 2:48Speaker 1: for you in terms of your ranking for your top
- 2:51Speaker 1: one hundred for Fantasy, because I mean, what have you
- 2:53Speaker 1: been doing with some of these guys, Like we had
- 2:55Speaker 1: chased a lotter hit a bunch of home runs. We
- 2:58Speaker 1: have JJ Weatherhill well looks like he's been in the
- 3:02Speaker 1: big leagues for four or five years some of the
- 3:04Speaker 1: last day's taken. We've also got Carter Jensen who showed
- 3:08Speaker 1: up and hit a homer already, Kevin McGonagall on the
- 3:12Speaker 1: opening day with four hits and just like leading that
- 3:15Speaker 1: Tigers team into the charge, Carson Bench hit a homer
- 3:19Speaker 1: opening day. When a Taka Murakami hit home runs on
- 3:22Speaker 1: the first three days. Okamoto for the Blue Jays has
- 3:26Speaker 1: also looked great so far. Then you've even got some
- 3:29Speaker 1: of the like I would say the next run down
- 3:32Speaker 1: where Justin Crawford has been a singles machine and hit
- 3:36Speaker 1: a walk off just the other day. Owen Casey also
- 3:38Speaker 1: hit a walk off homer and has been a mainstay
- 3:42Speaker 1: in that Marlins lineup. And then I mean another guy
- 3:46Speaker 1: who's kind of come out of nowhere is t J.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Rumfelt for the Colorado Rockies, who won the first place
- 3:51Speaker 1: job and should be holding it down all year. So
- 3:54Speaker 1: that's all the bats, and we haven't even gotten to
- 3:57Speaker 1: some of the pictures. This has been a great youth
- 3:59Speaker 1: movement so far, hasn't it.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been really fun to watch because I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and even see some of the second year guys like
- 4:06Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the leaderboard by war here, like
- 4:08Speaker 2: Drake Baldwin's been like just crushing the ball. You see
- 4:12Speaker 2: some of these guys that are just doing things. Sal Stewart,
- 4:15Speaker 2: you didn't even mention he's been eligible. Yeah, he's still
- 4:19Speaker 2: working that you're eligible, So we got to count in
- 4:21Speaker 2: that in that group. So it's it's been really fun
- 4:24Speaker 2: to watch these guys to your point, A number of
- 4:26Speaker 2: them just feel like completely at home, which tells you
- 4:30Speaker 2: they probably should have been up last year to a degree.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm kind of treating a number of these
- 4:35Speaker 2: guys like there's is certainly the watch guys right the
- 4:38Speaker 2: rum fields of the world, things like that, they're the watch,
- 4:41Speaker 2: the a kamotoves and murrak comedies. I already have them
- 4:43Speaker 2: in the top one hundreds. It's just kind of where
- 4:46Speaker 2: and you know, you're I mean, they're gonna be shuffling
- 4:48Speaker 2: around like crazy Murk Commy's gonna jump up just because
- 4:51Speaker 2: the power truly plays. There's still holes in that swing.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It still gonna be problematic, but the power is gonna
- 4:57Speaker 2: be there, no no questions asked. And then you've got
- 5:00Speaker 2: that I want to call it that like the Big
- 5:02Speaker 2: three or four. I don't know, you know how far
- 5:05Speaker 2: I want to go there, But like the weather Holes
- 5:07Speaker 2: mcgona goals, you know, the guy we'll talk about here
- 5:10Speaker 2: in a few minutes, and you know those those guys,
- 5:14Speaker 2: uh Chase the latter it would be the other one.
- 5:16Speaker 2: It's really hard for me to keep them out of
- 5:18Speaker 2: the top one or one hundred already at this point
- 5:20Speaker 2: because you know, going in, weather Holt was a guy
- 5:23Speaker 2: who said he's probably twenty twenty. He's probably a twenty
- 5:26Speaker 2: twenty guy if he just does his thing and he
- 5:29Speaker 2: looks more comfortable, and so you could argue, you know
- 5:32Speaker 2: that the power might be a little a little slower,
- 5:35Speaker 2: but like it just feels like he's gonna hit two
- 5:37Speaker 2: eighty and twenty five bombs and twenty five steals or
- 5:40Speaker 2: something like that. But the Gota goal, Like he just
- 5:42Speaker 2: looks so good at the plate. I think the guy's
- 5:44Speaker 2: going to hit three hundred easily.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You know.
- 5:48Speaker 2: The Lotter he's probably the one that's gonna be a
- 5:51Speaker 2: little slower on just because the guys have never been
- 5:54Speaker 2: healthy in his career and he's always hit like he
- 5:57Speaker 2: might have a better hit tool than almost all these
- 6:00Speaker 2: other guys from a pure power perspective and actually even
- 6:04Speaker 2: just overall bat control. But he's probably gonna be hurt
- 6:08Speaker 2: by May. So I think he's gonna be more on
- 6:11Speaker 2: that watch list type of thing. But yeah, I to me,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you got to be aggressive with these guys early. You
- 6:15Speaker 2: got to be throw them up in the rankings because
- 6:18Speaker 2: you know, if there was a buying time, it's probably
- 6:21Speaker 2: already gone, and if you didn't invest in them early.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I mean, I'll tell you I had a draft right
- 6:26Speaker 2: before the season started and I somebody jumped and got
- 6:30Speaker 2: Connor Griffin and like the seventh or eighth round or
- 6:34Speaker 2: something like that, they were being aggressive. And then it's
- 6:37Speaker 2: a keeper league that keepers start in like the thirteenth
- 6:40Speaker 2: round like that or more or less like that's the
- 6:43Speaker 2: latest you can keep a guy. So you just kind
- 6:44Speaker 2: of stack your thirteenth fourteenth round with like weird players
- 6:47Speaker 2: like Garrett Cole it was injured, and think like, you
- 6:50Speaker 2: know for next year, Well, I just I shot McGonagall
- 6:53Speaker 2: immediately in that and that was like two days later.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It was like, yep, all right, this is a no brainer.
- 6:58Speaker 2: He's called up and going. So again, if the buying
- 7:02Speaker 2: time is gone for these guys, but you have to
- 7:06Speaker 2: like they're not baked into your lineup, and if you
- 7:09Speaker 2: took the gamble on them, a lot of them look
- 7:11Speaker 2: like they're paying off. And I don't see I'm not
- 7:15Speaker 2: really seeing holes in there, Runfield. I'm not too too
- 7:18Speaker 2: high on these. Don't look at the babe upon that one.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But I do think that this is gonna be a special,
- 7:25Speaker 2: special rookie crop.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and I mean it's gonna be quite the race
- 7:29Speaker 1: for both of the Rookie of the Year awards, I think,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and it's just gonna be, I think, a fun year
- 7:36Speaker 1: because I think also for all those names, I mean
- 7:39Speaker 1: it's really risky to go out and sell them because
- 7:42Speaker 1: you don't know exactly how this is gonna go for
- 7:45Speaker 1: an entire season. That they've been so good at the gate,
- 7:48Speaker 1: and especially like I'm looking at like the latter when
- 7:52Speaker 1: you see mem in the box too, he just is
- 7:54Speaker 1: ready to go. It's just a huge frame. And you're
- 7:59Speaker 1: looking that talent up and down the board from all
- 8:03Speaker 1: these rookies that all of them you can see keeping
- 8:07Speaker 1: it going. And you know not all of them will,
- 8:09Speaker 1: but honestly, they've looked so sharp and like they've looked
- 8:13Speaker 1: like they've belonged that I have faith in pretty much
- 8:16Speaker 1: all of the ones that we've discussed here so far.
- 8:18Speaker 1: That even with Rumfield, I mean, that's a first base
- 8:21Speaker 1: job in Colorado. You can't beat such.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I'll never talk to you out of Colorado, I know that.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I mean the fact that you can use them in
- 8:28Speaker 1: Colorado is still huge. And I mean, if you get
- 8:31Speaker 1: a CI out of him for free. That's fantastic. But
- 8:34Speaker 1: all these dudes, I think we're also talking about huge
- 8:37Speaker 1: steep draft prices and all these guys across the board
- 8:40Speaker 1: going into twenty twenty seven. So if you're in a
- 8:42Speaker 1: dynasty keeper situation and you're sitting on any of these
- 8:45Speaker 1: players and have been waiting for them to get to
- 8:48Speaker 1: the majors, what a boon for you. And so hopefully,
- 8:52Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's gonna be a fun season seeing
- 8:54Speaker 1: where it all goes. And like you said, we've got
- 8:57Speaker 1: more that are coming up. It's a great youth movement.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I think this is going to be. This is also
- 9:03Speaker 1: a reason why I don't think that there's going to
- 9:04Speaker 1: be much loss of games, if any. I don't think
- 9:08Speaker 1: we're missing any regular season games of twenty seven and
- 9:11Speaker 1: barely any spring training if that even happens, because baseball
- 9:14Speaker 1: is in a really good spot to jump off in
- 9:17Speaker 1: terms of popularity, especially when you've got this young crop
- 9:20Speaker 1: of players that honestly I think I've lamented like the
- 9:25Speaker 1: loss of some of the minor league like teams that
- 9:29Speaker 1: have happened, and some of what happened with the right sizing,
- 9:32Speaker 1: But I think it's also created this situation where players
- 9:35Speaker 1: come up faster because of that as well as like
- 9:37Speaker 1: the lower level instructions is all happening in like the
- 9:40Speaker 1: Arizona Fall League or in the Dominican leagues and stuff
- 9:44Speaker 1: like that, and just like the backfield leagues that you're
- 9:49Speaker 1: getting players that are getting better instruction early in their
- 9:53Speaker 1: career without having to worry about what air mattress they're
- 9:57Speaker 1: going to sleep on and riding these bumpy buses throughout
- 10:00Speaker 1: the Midwest. That it's really paying off. And so it
- 10:04Speaker 1: does suck that we lost a lot of those MIA
- 10:06Speaker 1: League teams, but I think it's creating a lot of
- 10:08Speaker 1: this youth movement and just improved skills across the board.
- 10:12Speaker 1: That's the other thing is that all these players we discussed,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you look at the underlying like metrics and the underlying
- 10:17Speaker 1: savant pages, they're pretty good players. They're not flukes. So
- 10:23Speaker 1: it's been really fun watching them all. The other big
- 10:26Speaker 1: thing that's happened in Opening week is the ABS Challenge System.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Sorry CB Buckner, so he was the biggest victim of
- 10:33Speaker 1: this with the Cincinnati Rads getting shown up by au
- 10:36Speaker 1: Heeneo Suarez a little bit when he tried to punch
- 10:38Speaker 1: out Swarz a couple of times, and Suarez had that reviewed.
- 10:42Speaker 1: On top of like, it's been quite the week for
- 10:43Speaker 1: CB Buckner miss to call in Milwaukee about a player
- 10:47Speaker 1: stepping on for space, and then just yesterday, I mean,
- 10:50Speaker 1: hopefully he's okay. We don't want to see him hurt,
- 10:52Speaker 1: but he did take a foul tip like right to
- 10:54Speaker 1: the face on his mask, and so hopefully he's okay.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But it has been quite the ultuous week for CMB Buckner.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And then the AB's challenge system has just been something
- 11:05Speaker 1: we're all getting used to in terms of not only
- 11:08Speaker 1: has it appeared in all the scoreboard graphics or most
- 11:12Speaker 1: I would say, you got to kind of figure that
- 11:14Speaker 1: out in the realm of all of baseball, but you're
- 11:17Speaker 1: seeing in real time as these teams figure out the
- 11:21Speaker 1: strategy behind how you use these challenges. And also like
- 11:25Speaker 1: it's been funny to see some of the players where
- 11:29Speaker 1: they're in the box and they're batting and you can
- 11:32Speaker 1: just tell like the call was wrong, but they can't
- 11:36Speaker 1: go and challenge because they know that they didn't see it,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and so it just proves like how hard baseball is
- 11:43Speaker 1: even when you're right there, two feet away from that
- 11:46Speaker 1: pitch coming in. It's tough to figure it out. And
- 11:49Speaker 1: if anything, actually the ABS system has like made me
- 11:52Speaker 1: appreciate the umps more because there's a lot of pitches
- 11:56Speaker 1: right on the boardom line when all you have to
- 11:58Speaker 1: do is like nick the zone with just a sliver,
- 12:01Speaker 1: as we've seen in the ball that the almost are
- 12:04Speaker 1: still getting right. And it's been impressive. So what if
- 12:06Speaker 1: you've been some of your thoughts is you've watched ABS
- 12:09Speaker 1: in action.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, honestly, I really didn't think I was
- 12:12Speaker 2: gonna like it, but it's been so efficient I think
- 12:16Speaker 2: is the big thing like it They've got it down
- 12:18Speaker 2: to kind of a science, like it is fast, easy,
- 12:21Speaker 2: very transparent, So I love that. I think the biggest
- 12:24Speaker 2: kick out I've had it so far has been really
- 12:26Speaker 2: Derek Shelton's ejection on this one where he was arguing
- 12:30Speaker 2: in the Twins Oriels game that Ryan Helsley didn't go
- 12:34Speaker 2: to his hat quick enough to make the request and
- 12:37Speaker 2: and got a strikeout in a key situation, And he
- 12:40Speaker 2: watched the replay and Elsley clearly went to his hat
- 12:42Speaker 2: like immediately and the umpires didn't see it. So he
- 12:45Speaker 2: reinforced it just to make sure and Shelton just lost
- 12:48Speaker 2: his you know, his mind on it and he was
- 12:51Speaker 2: completely wrong. So that was you know again, it's just
- 12:55Speaker 2: funny to see like, how could you how can you
- 12:57Speaker 2: get objected get ejected arguing ball and strikes with an
- 13:01Speaker 2: automated ball and strike system. Derek Shelton figured it out.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Figured it out. So it's it's been good. I actually
- 13:09Speaker 1: do like it.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I liked a little bit of strategy nuance that it
- 13:13Speaker 2: brings in and it does whole it does. It shows
- 13:17Speaker 2: you the good umpires from the maybe not so so
- 13:20Speaker 2: good ones. So it'll I think there's a little strategy
- 13:24Speaker 2: even you know, who's your who's your best ball strike
- 13:27Speaker 2: catching catcher? And you know when Angel Hernandez I get
- 13:32Speaker 2: isn't necessarily umpire, but when Angel Hernanda's be on the plate,
- 13:35Speaker 2: you better be ready, right, You got to have the
- 13:37Speaker 2: guy that knows what he's doing back there.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Angel got out before this.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah Angel was still was still around this. This would
- 13:45Speaker 2: have been the end of them exactly. Looks like a
- 13:48Speaker 2: saint next Angel.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Well it's it's yeah. Cebe has been like he's
- 13:55Speaker 1: been quite the interesting umpire over the years, and so
- 13:58Speaker 1: it is. If anything, it's it's kind of nice that
- 14:00Speaker 1: players have some recourse because you would see ump shows
- 14:03Speaker 1: from c. B. Buckner every once in a while when
- 14:05Speaker 1: he would just like create the zone that he wanted
- 14:08Speaker 1: to be able to implicate players and throw them under
- 14:11Speaker 1: the bus as he wanted. So now that he's reeled
- 14:14Speaker 1: in by the ABS system, it's gonna be I think,
- 14:16Speaker 1: a long season for CB unless he can start calling
- 14:19Speaker 1: what the zone is. And that's the other funny thing
- 14:22Speaker 1: is I think he knows what it is, but it's
- 14:24Speaker 1: like overcoming that hurdle of like what he's been used
- 14:27Speaker 1: to of being in the power seat.
- 14:29Speaker 2: The other thing I thought was really fun and I
- 14:31Speaker 2: don't know how much the articles and reading you do,
- 14:34Speaker 2: one this is how MLB players shrank all of a sudden. Yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 2: because there was requirements to actually get heights of players,
- 14:43Speaker 2: because everybody's zone is actually customized to their height appropriately.
- 14:47Speaker 2: And there's a number of guys that just lost two
- 14:49Speaker 2: or even three inches on their hype profiles because it
- 14:52Speaker 2: wasn't no longer could you like emboss. I think Gavin
- 14:55Speaker 2: lux is like he was like, no, Gvin, You're not
- 14:57Speaker 2: actually six to two, Like, dude, you're five to eleven
- 14:59Speaker 2: the best. So it was kind of fun to see
- 15:04Speaker 2: just some of the nuances of all the Hike corrections
- 15:07Speaker 2: going once the league there can't can't over sell them anymore.
- 15:11Speaker 1: No you cannot. Okay, Well, let's get into the rest
- 15:15Speaker 1: of the news and notes, and so let's get into
- 15:17Speaker 1: the biggest one right off the bat. We've hinted at it.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Connor Griffin is set to be promoted for the Pittsburgh
- 15:23Speaker 1: Pirates for their opening day in Pittsburgh at P and
- 15:27Speaker 1: C Park on Friday. We're recording here on April second,
- 15:30Speaker 1: So kind of keep that in mind as you're listening
- 15:32Speaker 1: to everything, because the other component here is that the
- 15:35Speaker 1: Pirates and Griffin are in negotiation for some story of extension,
- 15:39Speaker 1: so we'll have a couple of those I also talk about.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But as we're speaking right now, the Griffin extension has
- 15:46Speaker 1: not been completed. But I actually, yeah, I think it
- 15:49Speaker 1: will be, and it was obviously a part of the
- 15:51Speaker 1: call up, but honestly, I think that they didn't want
- 15:55Speaker 1: to call him up and have him debut on the
- 15:57Speaker 1: road too, that the Pirates really wanted to make this
- 16:00Speaker 1: a special thing for the fans, and they know that
- 16:03Speaker 1: this is kind of the piece, along with Paul's Skeens
- 16:07Speaker 1: that could push the Pirates into a contention window while
- 16:10Speaker 1: Skens is still under the arbitration contracts. You know, there's
- 16:16Speaker 1: no way that Skiens is signing a long term deal
- 16:18Speaker 1: with the Pirates, but if maybe they could also convince
- 16:21Speaker 1: them to stay a couple extra years that they can
- 16:23Speaker 1: lock up Griffin and kind of show there is a
- 16:26Speaker 1: good will effort to build around the two of them,
- 16:29Speaker 1: Connor Griffin. I wrote about this for BP and their
- 16:32Speaker 1: call up article, so they'll be linked in the show
- 16:37Speaker 1: notes here. He tore up Triple A for five games
- 16:42Speaker 1: that he was down. There is a four thirty eight, five, one, six,
- 16:45Speaker 1: twenty five slash line in twenty one played appearances, three doubles,
- 16:49Speaker 1: three stolen bases. I also wrote in the piece that
- 16:52Speaker 1: like the sky's kind of the limit here, Like you
- 16:55Speaker 1: do want to be smart and make sure that you're
- 16:59Speaker 1: kind of tapering your expectations here, but I mean it's
- 17:03Speaker 1: really hard to not wherever you've got Connor Griffin, just
- 17:07Speaker 1: slot them right into the lineup and let him go,
- 17:09Speaker 1: because like I think the Homers is probably going to
- 17:12Speaker 1: be somewhere between fifteen and twenty five steals, probably somewhere
- 17:17Speaker 1: between twenty five and forty two fifty to two seventy
- 17:19Speaker 1: batting average. But like we might be selling this dude short.
- 17:23Speaker 1: He tore through the miners last year. He has an
- 17:26Speaker 1: absolute like Greek god specimen with the neck of a
- 17:30Speaker 1: redwood tree. He is a special, special talent. So what
- 17:35Speaker 1: do you think about Connor Griffin? Is he going to
- 17:38Speaker 1: be in your top one hundred hitters the rest of
- 17:39Speaker 1: the year.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, He's gonna be in the top one hundred hitters
- 17:43Speaker 2: the rest of the year, no doubt about it. Because if
- 17:44Speaker 2: you think about the speed that he has the ability
- 17:46Speaker 2: to put up an average. Let's just say if Chandler
- 17:49Speaker 2: Simpson could hit twenty five homers a season, that's this
- 17:53Speaker 2: is what we're looking for in Connor Griffin. A guy
- 17:55Speaker 2: that can hit for power plus has all those entangels
- 17:59Speaker 2: for back control and speed. That's that's a special, special player.
- 18:04Speaker 2: So he's absolutely gonna be the top one hundred. I
- 18:06Speaker 2: have not slotted him yet, so don't be asking where
- 18:09Speaker 2: he's going to actually gonna be, but he will be
- 18:11Speaker 2: in there. I think the only thing that holds you back,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Like if you look at his profile, yeah, he's like, man,
- 18:16Speaker 2: I wish he could maybe walk a little.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Bit more or something like that.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Like I think the kids, you know, twenty years old
- 18:23Speaker 2: and there's really actually nineteen years old. He's almost twenty
- 18:26Speaker 2: years old a few weeks here, But the fact that
- 18:31Speaker 2: he's doing this at nineteen, that's the only thing you
- 18:34Speaker 2: can hold against him.
- 18:35Speaker 1: He and be like, man, there's no way he can
- 18:37Speaker 1: be that young and do that. But it's you know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: it can't. He absolutely can.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And so I'm with you. I think it's probably a
- 18:43Speaker 2: fifteen to twenty homer bat. I think we're probably talking.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Maybe fifty steals. He's not been the most efficient base
- 18:50Speaker 1: stealer in the miners, He's been pretty pretty efficient.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So but I also think that the Bucks are going
- 18:55Speaker 2: to be hold him back a little bit there because
- 18:56Speaker 2: they want to keep him healthy. So fifty or fifteen fifteen, okay, fifteen, it's.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Like just holding them back to fifty. Ye, he's he
- 19:08Speaker 1: stole sixty one, So.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I said fifty sole he said fifty. I said fifty.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That's what I thought. Okay, yeah, So I mean you're
- 19:15Speaker 1: even higher on the steels than I am.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I I honestly think he's got that that capability.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I mean, if you look at his minor league track record,
- 19:23Speaker 2: you have two seasons or two stints there, and last
- 19:27Speaker 2: year single A and double A, like you know, he
- 19:30Speaker 2: he was on pace to basically steal like ninety bases.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah at those, Yeah, it slowed down a little bit
- 19:38Speaker 2: when he gets to double A and he got caught
- 19:40Speaker 2: a few times triple A, but he's never an other
- 19:43Speaker 2: thing left to prove. They're not letting the guy run
- 19:45Speaker 2: because he doesn't want to. You don't want him to
- 19:47Speaker 2: get hurt. But still he was just taken off. So
- 19:50Speaker 2: I think that there's a chance that he gets to
- 19:52Speaker 2: fifty steals with her with a full season.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Okay, well then yeah, then I mean you're even higher
- 19:57Speaker 1: on that aspect. Maybe I'm sounds like I'm a tick
- 19:59Speaker 1: higher on the power Yeah, but yeah, I mean this
- 20:02Speaker 1: is a special, special dude. I think you're looking at
- 20:05Speaker 1: like Elie de la Cruz like player.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And without the thirty five percent strikeout risk.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I guess it's there, but like, but
- 20:13Speaker 1: it's just not profile. Yeah, it's not. No, And if
- 20:17Speaker 1: that happens, the Pirates will send him back to Triple
- 20:19Speaker 1: A to figure it out, because that's not who kind
- 20:21Speaker 1: of Griffin is is he? I think he will settle
- 20:23Speaker 1: into like a mid twenties strikeout rate in the big leagues,
- 20:27Speaker 1: but like he's so young, it could lower. Like this
- 20:31Speaker 1: is a guy. I mean, you're looking at Mike Trout
- 20:33Speaker 1: at shortstop, is what it is, honestly, right? Yeah, yeah,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I think.
- 20:37Speaker 2: It's like more speed, little less little less uh power
- 20:41Speaker 2: than Mike Trout. But we're talking like it's it's definitely
- 20:46Speaker 2: within that that realm. You know, Am I ever going
- 20:49Speaker 2: to put a player and say this is Mike Trout
- 20:51Speaker 2: hitting the majors? No, But like the the skill profile,
- 20:57Speaker 2: the you know, body type, athleticism, all that feels like
- 21:03Speaker 2: that type of player. You just know you're not gonna
- 21:04Speaker 2: commit somebody like that. But you look across the other
- 21:07Speaker 2: guys that have been called up, like Griffin looks like
- 21:11Speaker 2: makes them look like little boys, right weather holds McGonagall,
- 21:15Speaker 2: Like Griffin just seems to tower above them from a
- 21:19Speaker 2: physical perspective and also from a complete player perspective, which
- 21:23Speaker 2: is saying something for the nineteen year olds.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and I mean, good luck trying to acquire him
- 21:28Speaker 1: in any sort of fantasy league or acquire his cards.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I will say that this was one of our bigger
- 21:33Speaker 1: wins from when Bowman Draft came out in twenty twenty four,
- 21:37Speaker 1: that like, his prices were already pretty high, but I
- 21:42Speaker 1: you did too, But we both agreed, like I would
- 21:44Speaker 1: invest in Connor Griffin even at these prices because it
- 21:47Speaker 1: was such a special sort of player, and if you did,
- 21:51Speaker 1: I mean, it was still a huge return based on
- 21:54Speaker 1: what's gonna happen with these call up prices. So gonna
- 21:57Speaker 1: be a big fanfare in Pittsburgh for at this weekend.
- 22:01Speaker 1: The other major extension that we had signed this week
- 22:03Speaker 1: was by Colt Emerson from the Seattle Mariners. So he's
- 22:07Speaker 1: still in Triple A. There hasn't been any sort of
- 22:10Speaker 1: mentioning of him getting called up here pretty soon, but
- 22:13Speaker 1: I mean, Emerson's also right on the precipice a shortstop
- 22:16Speaker 1: for those Mariners, currently ranked number eleven on Fangraft's Top
- 22:22Speaker 1: one hundred prospects. And this is guy who last year
- 22:25Speaker 1: across three levels as well, blew through High A, Double A,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and Triple A, put up a two eighty five three
- 22:32Speaker 1: eighty three four fifty eight slash line, so one twenty
- 22:36Speaker 1: nine WC plus. Certainly he's a better defender than Griffin,
- 22:41Speaker 1: but it's a little bit more of like a traditional
- 22:44Speaker 1: like fifteen fifteen, twenty twenty type of bat here. I
- 22:47Speaker 1: think alv Emerson as well as like it might be
- 22:49Speaker 1: pushing this deals a little bit when you look at
- 22:51Speaker 1: the stats. He's never necessarily been a burner, but he's
- 22:55Speaker 1: more of like a smart, stolem based guy, and I
- 22:57Speaker 1: think he might be a little bit more muted in
- 23:01Speaker 1: that category in the majors, But you're still looking at
- 23:03Speaker 1: a guy who's a solid shortstop in my option when
- 23:06Speaker 1: he comes up, and honestly might be up soon, depending
- 23:09Speaker 1: on how the Mariners feel about JP Crawford coming back
- 23:12Speaker 1: off the injured list and where they're kind of sitting
- 23:15Speaker 1: in the standings as they're limping by with Leo Revis
- 23:18Speaker 1: Right now, Emerson is off to a solid start at
- 23:21Speaker 1: Triple A as a twenty year old a two seventy eight
- 23:24Speaker 1: three sixteen five hundred slash line through twenty plate appearances.
- 23:28Speaker 1: So what do you think about Emerson for the rest
- 23:30Speaker 1: of twenty twenty six, Because he's coming up at some point.
- 23:33Speaker 1: It's just a matter of when not if.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I think let's not misinterpret the extension as him
- 23:38Speaker 2: getting called up, because if the way the prospect incentive
- 23:43Speaker 2: works in the majors these days is if you get
- 23:45Speaker 2: an extension before you're called up, you're not eligible for
- 23:48Speaker 2: to earn your team those draft picks. That's why Griffin's
- 23:52Speaker 2: extension that's probably already happened, hasn't been announced until the
- 23:55Speaker 2: debuts because once if you debut and then suddn extension,
- 23:59Speaker 2: you are still to uh net your team draft picks.
- 24:02Speaker 2: And so I think that is a signal from Seattle
- 24:05Speaker 2: that he's likely going to spend a month or two
- 24:09Speaker 2: in in Triple A trying to work things out.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Look, look who he is.
- 24:13Speaker 2: But when he gets called up, he's absolutely a plug
- 24:16Speaker 2: in am I for sure? If not h you know,
- 24:19Speaker 2: actually at you know, in your starting lineup. I treat
- 24:22Speaker 2: him as like a I'll call it an eighty five
- 24:24Speaker 2: percent JJ Weatherholt. A little more power, little less speed,
- 24:28Speaker 2: but similar type of profile. He's a little heavier on
- 24:32Speaker 2: the strikeouts to a degree, but you know not uh
- 24:35Speaker 2: you know, insurmountable. So he'll have a little bit of
- 24:37Speaker 2: a lower average than a weather Hoole type wood. But again,
- 24:41Speaker 2: this is gonna be a solid profile. And it seems
- 24:42Speaker 2: like the current current profile of all these middle and
- 24:45Speaker 2: field type guys getting called up is just you know,
- 24:48Speaker 2: power speed, decent average back control, and Emerson just fits
- 24:53Speaker 2: right in there.
- 24:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 24:54Speaker 2: He's probably just not quite at the precipice of some
- 24:57Speaker 2: of these other guys. He's maybe a step slightly step
- 24:59Speaker 2: down for me. But I mean again, uh, if we're
- 25:02Speaker 2: giving out grades and mcgonaga goal and whether he'll get
- 25:05Speaker 2: a minus Griffin gets an A plus, we're talking B
- 25:10Speaker 2: for Emerson. He's not that far off those guys.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I totally agree. Uh. Then we have a
- 25:15Speaker 1: third shortstop that signed an extension here that this one's
- 25:19Speaker 1: probably a little bit lesser known. Name is Cooper Pratt
- 25:21Speaker 1: from the Milwaukee Brewers, signing an eight year, fifty one
- 25:26Speaker 1: ish million dollar contract, and he's currently in Triple A
- 25:30Speaker 1: as a twenty year old. He will turn or twenty
- 25:33Speaker 1: one year old. My bad. He turns twenty two in August.
- 25:36Speaker 1: And he was at Triple A or Double A all
- 25:40Speaker 1: last year. It was a bit of a muted line.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Two thirty eight three forty three three forty eight slash line,
- 25:46Speaker 1: so one oh seven WRC plus but eight homers and
- 25:49Speaker 1: thirty one stone bases in one hundred and twenty games.
- 25:52Speaker 1: This dude is built like Connor Griffin, I know, not
- 25:54Speaker 1: quite as much mass, but he is six four two
- 25:57Speaker 1: ten as his listed size on Fangrass Right now, certainly
- 26:02Speaker 1: it sounds like the Brewers are really high on the defense,
- 26:05Speaker 1: where some of the evaluators have been a little unsure
- 26:08Speaker 1: about whether or not Pratt can stick at short step,
- 26:11Speaker 1: which I think is driving some of maybe the discrepancy
- 26:14Speaker 1: here between what we see on the public side and
- 26:17Speaker 1: what you might have expected for the Brewers and why
- 26:19Speaker 1: they handed out this contract. Jared Steidler at BP today
- 26:23Speaker 1: actually had a great piece about this, and he actually
- 26:25Speaker 1: kind of dove into like the comp actually being Bryce Terrang.
- 26:28Speaker 1: That like, if Bryce Terrang had been given this contract
- 26:31Speaker 1: when he was in Triple A, I think everybody else
- 26:33Speaker 1: would have scoffed at that. But if you give Bryce
- 26:36Speaker 1: Terrang an extension right now, I think everybody'd be like, oh, yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: that makes sense. He's a slick glove. He's an all
- 26:43Speaker 1: star second baseman, and so you got to almost kind
- 26:46Speaker 1: of give some credit to the Brewers because they know
- 26:49Speaker 1: what they're doing and they've been doing this over and over.
- 26:52Speaker 1: The other component here too, just like Emerson, Pratt is
- 26:55Speaker 1: not getting promoted. But third base is an absolute mess
- 27:00Speaker 1: for the Milwaukee Brewers right now. They have David Hamilton
- 27:02Speaker 1: playing there right now, and given Pratt's ability to play
- 27:07Speaker 1: shortstop really well, it would be pretty easy to slide
- 27:10Speaker 1: them over and make him a plus third basement. So
- 27:13Speaker 1: I would I wouldn't have put Pratt on like my
- 27:16Speaker 1: board as a guy who had hit the matrix this year.
- 27:19Speaker 1: But now they signed this extension. I think there's a
- 27:21Speaker 1: decent chance he comes up in a couple months if
- 27:24Speaker 1: he can show that he can hold his own at
- 27:27Speaker 1: the plate at triple A. So what do you think
- 27:29Speaker 1: about Cooper Pratt here and the Milwaukee Brewers.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it is I want to call it
- 27:33Speaker 2: a curious extension. It maybe a little eyebrowsing eyebrow right
- 27:37Speaker 2: rising extension here, But you know, it comes down to
- 27:41Speaker 2: the team being smart because at the end of the day,
- 27:45Speaker 2: eight year, fifty million dollars extension is really not that expensive.
- 27:49Speaker 2: You're you're locking in cost certainty for a guy that
- 27:52Speaker 2: if you do feel like he's going to be a
- 27:54Speaker 2: starter for you, you just don't have to worry about
- 27:56Speaker 2: that position for a long time. And you've then locked
- 27:58Speaker 2: in a few really reasonable team options on the back.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I think they're fifteen million each. That they've just got
- 28:04Speaker 2: a lot and if you miss, I mean, yeahbe guy
- 28:07Speaker 2: that plays on the bench something like that. Because again
- 28:09Speaker 2: this has happened before. We've seen like the John Singleton's
- 28:12Speaker 2: and Scott Kingery is the world that played this game
- 28:14Speaker 2: and it didn't work out, But those were not you know,
- 28:17Speaker 2: franchise crushing contracts, and for smart teams like the Brewers
- 28:21Speaker 2: that need to make their team their money go along ways,
- 28:24Speaker 2: this makes a lot of sense because he gets up
- 28:26Speaker 2: and he's doing, to your point, Bryce training type things,
- 28:29Speaker 2: you're not going to get this price. You're not gonna
- 28:31Speaker 2: get this price. But for me, he's kind of a
- 28:33Speaker 2: watch guy that the speeds what really intrigues me. He's
- 28:36Speaker 2: very efficient base stealer, and so I'm thinking, if you
- 28:40Speaker 2: can get double digit power and you know, twenty to
- 28:43Speaker 2: thirty steel juice out of this guy, definitely a good
- 28:47Speaker 2: m I type profile that we can all enjoy, so definitely,
- 28:52Speaker 2: if he gets the call, I think he's worth adding.
- 28:55Speaker 2: But I don't think he's a guy that I put
- 28:57Speaker 2: anywhere near the range of the Emerson's and the weather
- 28:59Speaker 2: Holds Mcgonagall's, the guys we've been talking about. If I'm going,
- 29:02Speaker 2: I'm saying on my grading scale here, it's Cooper Pratt's
- 29:06Speaker 2: probably like a C minus as far as relatives to
- 29:09Speaker 2: those guys. A lot more of a long term project
- 29:12Speaker 2: that will be valuable, but probably not this year for me.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think a big portion of it too,
- 29:19Speaker 1: is Pratt does not impact the ball as hard as
- 29:22Speaker 1: Emerson and Griffin, but he has the levers to do
- 29:25Speaker 1: so and has the contact skills to be able to
- 29:28Speaker 1: maybe trade some of the contact for power. This is
- 29:30Speaker 1: why it's gonna be great to watch his prospects savant
- 29:33Speaker 1: page throughout the next couple months. If you see any
- 29:36Speaker 1: development of power out of Cooper Pratt, I would say,
- 29:38Speaker 1: look out, because it's it's a profile that could jump
- 29:41Speaker 1: pretty quickly to be able to He's not gonna, I
- 29:45Speaker 1: think reach the Condor Griffin, Coult Emerson level, but like
- 29:49Speaker 1: if he turns into a guy who's more of like
- 29:51Speaker 1: a fifteen homer, thirty stolen base bat's that's going to
- 29:55Speaker 1: play in the contact skills, like I said, are solid.
- 29:58Speaker 1: So honestly that's Bryce Rang Yeah. Okay, well it's not
- 30:04Speaker 1: all roses here in Baseball News. As you know, we
- 30:07Speaker 1: got through all the fun stuff there and let's get
- 30:09Speaker 1: into some of the injuries I've cropped up in the
- 30:11Speaker 1: first week. And we're saying right in Milwaukee because Jackson
- 30:14Speaker 1: Curio has hit the IL with a fractured left hand,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and this is something that came out just before opening Day,
- 30:21Speaker 1: like people had to really scramble probably to get him
- 30:24Speaker 1: on injured slots if you had him in your leagues.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Sounds like the injury actually dates back to an exhibition
- 30:30Speaker 1: game from before the WBC when Churio won the WBC
- 30:34Speaker 1: with Venezuela, and it was not a great showing for
- 30:38Speaker 1: him in Venezula. For playing for Venezuela in that WBC,
- 30:43Speaker 1: he only slashed two hundred two seventy eight two hundred
- 30:47Speaker 1: in his fifteen at bats. On top of it, he
- 30:50Speaker 1: was always hitting in the nine hole, and I thought
- 30:52Speaker 1: that was curious when I was watching Venezuela playing the WBC.
- 30:56Speaker 1: But I think with hindsight, maybe we now know why,
- 30:59Speaker 1: because especially with the left hand break, he was still
- 31:03Speaker 1: able to play center field and you know, be able
- 31:06Speaker 1: to throw the ball in and play defense appropriately. But
- 31:09Speaker 1: I think they there was known issues with that hand
- 31:14Speaker 1: in Venezuela was protecting him down in that nine hole
- 31:17Speaker 1: as well as like there was just probably no way
- 31:20Speaker 1: that Jackson Tario was gonna tell anybody about that hand injury,
- 31:24Speaker 1: like outright in the media before going to the WBC,
- 31:27Speaker 1: because he wanted to play. And I'm good to a
- 31:29Speaker 1: stim because it paid off with the victory there for Venezuela.
- 31:34Speaker 1: But now we got to turn our sights to Jackson
- 31:38Speaker 1: Tario in twenty twenty six for the fantasy game, what
- 31:40Speaker 1: do you do with him? Because I mean, this is
- 31:42Speaker 1: a guy who in lots of leagues was probably going
- 31:45Speaker 1: in the second ish round, probably more of like a
- 31:48Speaker 1: third round pick, but people were dreaming on the upside
- 31:52Speaker 1: for Cheerio as he is only twenty two and just
- 31:56Speaker 1: turned twenty two about a month ago, just a couple
- 31:59Speaker 1: weeks who actually three March eleventh. So a guy who
- 32:03Speaker 1: was a piece, a big piece. If you draft him
- 32:06Speaker 1: for your fantasy team, what do you do in Cherio
- 32:08Speaker 1: the rest of the season.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's is, this is, this is frustrating.
- 32:12Speaker 2: So the noise, the news wasn't out there, and you
- 32:13Speaker 2: probably drafted him and he was already hurt, and I
- 32:17Speaker 2: mean you can compare it to a lot of other
- 32:20Speaker 2: hand type injuries that we've we've talked about. We may
- 32:22Speaker 2: talk about here and again a second, but it worries
- 32:27Speaker 2: me for a guy like him in Serio, you were
- 32:29Speaker 2: drafting him with expectation of another step uh in in
- 32:33Speaker 2: the power department, and I don't think you're gonna get
- 32:36Speaker 2: it this year because that the hand, the impact of
- 32:40Speaker 2: a hand injury when you're making if you don't make
- 32:42Speaker 2: solid contact and you'll square it up with that, that's
- 32:45Speaker 2: gonna that's gonna be a challenge. And so I think
- 32:47Speaker 2: it does actually give me a little down aero on
- 32:49Speaker 2: Cheerio this year. So if somebody's willing to pay full price,
- 32:53Speaker 2: I'm I'm a little concerned, I said people, if they're
- 32:56Speaker 2: saying two four weeks, I'm on the far inside of
- 32:58Speaker 2: that because for team that should be in contention with
- 33:01Speaker 2: the Brewers, they can't risk him coming back too soon
- 33:05Speaker 2: and then having performance issues. They need him to be
- 33:08Speaker 2: fully healthy, so I'm probably on the further end of
- 33:11Speaker 2: that for to six weeks type of thing, and we're
- 33:13Speaker 2: talking may easily before Ture's back. There's just my uneducated
- 33:19Speaker 2: two cents.
- 33:19Speaker 1: On this one. I mean, it is going to help
- 33:22Speaker 1: that like happen fast, but the Brewers are already starting
- 33:26Speaker 1: to show the daylight between them and the Cubs. The
- 33:29Speaker 1: Cubs have kind of I mean, they're three and three now,
- 33:31Speaker 1: but they didn't look great in either of those series
- 33:33Speaker 1: against the Gnats or the Angels, so it's gonna be
- 33:37Speaker 1: That's the other factor here, too, is that if the
- 33:39Speaker 1: Brewers can put even more cushion between them and the
- 33:42Speaker 1: rest of the division, the longer that goes on, the
- 33:45Speaker 1: longer they can let Cherio heal up and get right
- 33:49Speaker 1: for the twenty twenty six season, because the Brewers again
- 33:52Speaker 1: have sights on October baseball as opposed to trying to
- 33:55Speaker 1: do stuff during the regular season. We're sticking to Milwaukee
- 33:58Speaker 1: for this next injury. You alluded it to it another
- 34:01Speaker 1: hand injury. This one is back to that handmaid's bone
- 34:05Speaker 1: that everybody has been breaking throughout the past couple months.
- 34:09Speaker 1: This one is afflicting first basement Andrew Vaughn, which rip
- 34:12Speaker 1: to my sleeper pick in our rasball picks. It's a
- 34:15Speaker 1: bummer to see it go down in an injury case.
- 34:18Speaker 1: And then also on top of it, we've discussed it
- 34:20Speaker 1: several times with the other handmaid injuries. This is something
- 34:23Speaker 1: that's going to linger for Vaughn the rest of the season,
- 34:27Speaker 1: even beyond the four to six weeks that he's going
- 34:29Speaker 1: to be on the shelf. That it's been shown time
- 34:31Speaker 1: and time and time again that these handmaid injuries take
- 34:35Speaker 1: more like a year to get fully back up to
- 34:38Speaker 1: speed in terms of the strength that you get in
- 34:41Speaker 1: your hand to hit for baseball power. So with that said, though,
- 34:46Speaker 1: I mean, we saw a lot of great changes from
- 34:48Speaker 1: Vaughn last year and the second half of the Brewers
- 34:51Speaker 1: still someone that you would be willing to stash away
- 34:53Speaker 1: for like a CI spot or is he just totally
- 34:56Speaker 1: done for you with this hamdmaid injury.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's the staf away, but not at
- 35:02Speaker 2: the risk of anything else. So if I got an
- 35:04Speaker 2: empty iel spot, he's absolutely sitting there. Because the other
- 35:09Speaker 2: thing is we just don't know how real the adjustments
- 35:11Speaker 2: were last year. They looked real, but we all have
- 35:14Speaker 2: seen players make a short term adjustment, get hot, do
- 35:17Speaker 2: some things, and then revert back. His overall body of
- 35:20Speaker 2: work is not unpleasant. It was looking good last year,
- 35:24Speaker 2: and this injury, I think is you need that to stick,
- 35:28Speaker 2: plus him to get healthy fast, and I don't. The
- 35:31Speaker 2: odds of those things both working out ideally are not high,
- 35:37Speaker 2: and so I think you know your best case scenario
- 35:39Speaker 2: with volume here is second half healthy, takes some time,
- 35:43Speaker 2: get the rust off, and then we're talking like August
- 35:46Speaker 2: September time, is the Andrew Vaughan we saw last August
- 35:49Speaker 2: September still there, and then we're having the same conversation
- 35:53Speaker 2: next year that we had this spring.
- 35:55Speaker 1: That's where I see it. So, like I said, there's
- 35:57Speaker 1: an empty spot.
- 35:58Speaker 2: In your il, Sure stash him, but as soon as
- 36:00Speaker 2: you get that crunch, I'm not too worried about casting
- 36:03Speaker 2: him off, especially at you know, first base corner and
- 36:06Speaker 2: field type of situation.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yep, I think you absolutely nailed it. So it's something
- 36:11Speaker 1: to look forward to. Is maybe another second half from Vaughn,
- 36:14Speaker 1: But until then I wouldn't worry about him. So somebody
- 36:19Speaker 1: who you can keep around if if you've got the spot,
- 36:21Speaker 1: but otherwise make sure that you're using it correctly to
- 36:25Speaker 1: maximize your roster positions. Now, because we're only getting started
- 36:29Speaker 1: on the injuries, there's still gonna be more coming. Because
- 36:31Speaker 1: this next one is also a big blow because he's
- 36:34Speaker 1: looked he had looked so good during the spring, and
- 36:36Speaker 1: he looked good during the start. I'm talking about Cody
- 36:39Speaker 1: Ponce from the Toronto Blue Jays, who this Toronto Blue
- 36:43Speaker 1: Jays staff is in trouble as well. I covered that
- 36:46Speaker 1: when I did the al starting pitching like watch list
- 36:49Speaker 1: for BP this past week, and they've got an entire
- 36:53Speaker 1: rotation now on the injured list between Bieber, Barrios, Pontes,
- 36:57Speaker 1: Ya Savage, and Francis Good. Thing is it sounds like
- 37:00Speaker 1: you Savage should be back here pretty soon. But Cody Pons,
- 37:04Speaker 1: in his first outing back returning to MLB, goes down
- 37:08Speaker 1: after two and a third innings, spraining his ACL while
- 37:12Speaker 1: trying to run over to first base to make a
- 37:13Speaker 1: defensive play. I'm bummed because I was getting into the
- 37:18Speaker 1: Cody Pones' experience and he, like I said, he looked
- 37:20Speaker 1: great in the spring. He was looking great in that outing,
- 37:23Speaker 1: and he also like he's huge. He's big guy. He
- 37:28Speaker 1: is Yeah, he is just an absolute force on the mound.
- 37:32Speaker 1: That like, I was expecting big things for Pones. I
- 37:36Speaker 1: know our boy Marmo's dad, Matt Frank, was also in
- 37:39Speaker 1: on that. I think he was gonna be a great
- 37:41Speaker 1: value for where you picked him, and it sucks to
- 37:44Speaker 1: see him go down with an injury that resulted from
- 37:47Speaker 1: fielding a ball. Now. The other thing here, too is
- 37:49Speaker 1: I'm also worried about this knee injury. We're gonna like
- 37:54Speaker 1: get into a little bit of like just like far
- 37:57Speaker 1: a territory with Michael Kopak here, but it reminds me
- 37:59Speaker 1: of like what he went through when he had a
- 38:02Speaker 1: knee injury and like tried to work his way back
- 38:04Speaker 1: that like it's not something that goes super well for
- 38:07Speaker 1: a picture, and if you rush your way back, it
- 38:09Speaker 1: could turn arthritick really fast and kind of eat you up.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So I'm hoping that the Blue Jays can find a
- 38:17Speaker 1: way forward because they have a very competitive team and
- 38:21Speaker 1: Punts was a big part of that. But they're not
- 38:24Speaker 1: even sure how long he's gonna be out for at
- 38:25Speaker 1: this point. They're saying it's gonna be significant, like you're
- 38:29Speaker 1: looking at months, maybe even missing the entire season. So
- 38:33Speaker 1: what's your read here in the Cody Punks situation.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I mean, you pretty much hit it. It's it's really unfortunate.
- 38:40Speaker 2: He was gonna be intriguing to watch. It was a
- 38:42Speaker 2: great storyline and he will be out for a while
- 38:46Speaker 2: and we have literally no idea when he's gonna be back.
- 38:49Speaker 2: And you're talking about a knee injury. I don't care
- 38:54Speaker 2: if you're pitching left to righty or whatnot. You need
- 38:56Speaker 2: both of them and whether you're pushing off your land
- 38:59Speaker 2: and it's just ideal.
- 39:00Speaker 1: And so for him, it's it's.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Gonna, you know, take some time to to see. Can't
- 39:07Speaker 2: you know what's that right knee gonna need to do?
- 39:10Speaker 2: Because for him being ready, you're pushing off that that
- 39:13Speaker 2: that's your power and so that translates to velocity to
- 39:16Speaker 2: the torque that you're providing.
- 39:17Speaker 1: So you know again you know he he he looked good.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But I think that by the time that we get
- 39:26Speaker 2: there with the Blue Jays and he's we're talking the
- 39:28Speaker 2: second half, that he might be looking to return. It's
- 39:31Speaker 2: gonna be a question of it doesn't make sense. Do
- 39:35Speaker 2: you do you slow play him, does he go to
- 39:37Speaker 2: the bullpen for a while. I mean, we're going to
- 39:40Speaker 2: get a full run at Eric Lauer, who's looked great.
- 39:43Speaker 2: But that's probably the only silver lighting here. It's it's
- 39:46Speaker 2: really really unfortunate, uh, that they're gonna have to rely
- 39:49Speaker 2: on Max Scherzer as much as they will this season.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Church looks solid, so it might work out.
- 39:58Speaker 1: But yeah, they're they're entire straight because they also they
- 40:02Speaker 1: would have had cal Steven if they hadn't traded him
- 40:04Speaker 1: for Bieber last year, and Tietaman is way off and
- 40:08Speaker 1: so there's not much depth in that Toronto system. You
- 40:13Speaker 1: think that they're probably you would think they would have
- 40:14Speaker 1: to make some sort of trade or other move here
- 40:17Speaker 1: pretty soon, because it's gonna get pretty desperate pretty quickly,
- 40:20Speaker 1: especially if they run into any other little niggling injuries
- 40:25Speaker 1: or something like that here over the next couple of weeks. Okay, well,
- 40:29Speaker 1: next injury you have is actually I mean, we're not
- 40:31Speaker 1: focused on the injury. We're focused on the flip side
- 40:33Speaker 1: of what happened with the injury. We touched on Carson
- 40:36Speaker 1: Bene coming up a little bit when we were doing
- 40:39Speaker 1: the rookie intro, and that was only honestly possible because
- 40:43Speaker 1: Mike Talkman went down with a moniscus tear right at
- 40:46Speaker 1: the last minute, right before opening day, and otherwise I
- 40:49Speaker 1: think Bene probably would have opened up at Triple A
- 40:53Speaker 1: or found himself maybe like in a platoon roll or
- 40:58Speaker 1: something as Talkman. I think they wanted to be able
- 41:01Speaker 1: to ease Carson Benge into the twenty twenty sixth season
- 41:04Speaker 1: in New York, and Takomen was going to help him
- 41:06Speaker 1: do that. But now Benje has got a full starting
- 41:09Speaker 1: job and right field for the New York Mets. It's
- 41:12Speaker 1: been a little bit rough after that opening day homer,
- 41:15Speaker 1: so he's down to a one fifty eight two thirty
- 41:17Speaker 1: eight three sixteen slash line through his twenty one plate appearances.
- 41:22Speaker 1: But it's so small. I mean, the concerning thing here
- 41:25Speaker 1: is that it's been a thirty three percent k rate,
- 41:27Speaker 1: but he's got a good eye. It's been almost a
- 41:30Speaker 1: ten percent walk rate. So benj is twenty three. What
- 41:35Speaker 1: are you looking for in terms of his profile the
- 41:39Speaker 1: rest of the year, because he projects to be about
- 41:42Speaker 1: of a league average bat. But there's some special tools
- 41:46Speaker 1: here and lots of opportunity, especially Talkman's not going to
- 41:50Speaker 1: be back to probably almost Memorial Day, and if benj
- 41:53Speaker 1: can produce until then, Takman might be finding himself in
- 41:57Speaker 1: free agency. Yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, I think that's the path we're on here. Yeah,
- 42:02Speaker 2: Bene has not looked amazing by any means, but he's
- 42:05Speaker 2: he's got a relatively high floor based on his you know,
- 42:09Speaker 2: plate approach. You know, he he does have a little
- 42:11Speaker 2: this speed, a little bit of pop, and so I
- 42:14Speaker 2: think he's going to kind of find his way and
- 42:16Speaker 2: he's going to be valuable.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I'm yeah, is he like your number one outfielder? No,
- 42:22Speaker 1: but he is.
- 42:22Speaker 2: He is he of serviceable four or five. I think
- 42:25Speaker 2: he's going to be. There's gonna be some growing pains
- 42:28Speaker 2: with him, and I think that's to be to be seen.
- 42:31Speaker 2: To your point, the strikeout rate is not ideal at
- 42:33Speaker 2: this point, but we are talking small sample size. He's
- 42:36Speaker 2: gonna take a little time to adjust. This is actually
- 42:38Speaker 2: a little bit more what I feel like should be
- 42:40Speaker 2: happy with a lot of these other rookies. They're like,
- 42:43Speaker 2: this is just making bench look bad because he's actually
- 42:46Speaker 2: not like just off and running to the races here.
- 42:50Speaker 2: But hey, he's already stolen a few bases. You know,
- 42:53Speaker 2: he's he's popped a home or Yeah, I get that,
- 42:56Speaker 2: it's not like blazing, but I think that's what he's
- 42:58Speaker 2: gonna be able to do. Is he's gonna give you
- 43:00Speaker 2: bits and pieces here. He's gonna hit a decent amount
- 43:02Speaker 2: of homers. He's gonna steal these munt of bases like
- 43:04Speaker 2: he's gonna, you know, not the best lineup, he's a
- 43:08Speaker 2: good lineup, and so he's gonna score some runs.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Like I think it's.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Gonna be okay, But I think he's going to solidify
- 43:14Speaker 2: himself enough that we won't be talking Mike Talkman until
- 43:18Speaker 2: the next time we're talking Mike Tokman, which feels like
- 43:20Speaker 2: every year he finds a new spot. He's just good
- 43:22Speaker 2: enough to be a fourth outfielder, and then we do
- 43:25Speaker 2: it again, do it again. So best wishes to Mike Talkman.
- 43:28Speaker 2: We'll see you on the other side.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, just wait till he goes back to Colorado. I
- 43:32Speaker 1: will not shut up about him. I'm well aware of that. Okay.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Last bit of news we have is Carlos Estevez going
- 43:42Speaker 1: down with uh They called it a foot confusion, but
- 43:46Speaker 1: it might just be a bad pitching. They just need
- 43:49Speaker 1: an excuse to get Carlos this out of that role
- 43:52Speaker 1: as like it looks bad. I don't know if it's
- 43:55Speaker 1: a mechanical thing or if like his shoulders torn to shreds.
- 43:59Speaker 1: But all the v los down his locations nowhere, his
- 44:03Speaker 1: stuff is down across the board, and it was like
- 44:05Speaker 1: this all spring on Carlos lesteveez that we saw that
- 44:09Speaker 1: draft price too from the NFBC draft data, what we
- 44:13Speaker 1: did our Ale Central preview, Like you and I couldn't
- 44:16Speaker 1: sell Carlos Stews fast enough because not only that last
- 44:21Speaker 1: year was just a total like farce underneath the covers, yes,
- 44:24Speaker 1: of what he put up, it was a twenty five
- 44:27Speaker 1: percent ground ball rate. It was a crazy left on
- 44:29Speaker 1: base rate, and there was no way he was going
- 44:32Speaker 1: to come close to that two forty five RA and
- 44:34Speaker 1: forty five saves from twenty twenty five. Certainly not with
- 44:38Speaker 1: this stuff. Because I'm at this he's not even usable,
- 44:41Speaker 1: like he's not found for affiliated baseball at all until
- 44:46Speaker 1: he gets right. So what are you doing here with
- 44:49Speaker 1: this Kansas City closing situation? Because this is a competitive
- 44:53Speaker 1: Royals team, They're going to be in it and They're
- 44:55Speaker 1: also going to be in a lot of tech games
- 44:57Speaker 1: where I mean, Carlos Estivus put up forty two say
- 45:00Speaker 1: for them last year, there's probably forty to forty five
- 45:03Speaker 1: saves in this Royals bullpen. So who are you targeting?
- 45:06Speaker 1: And I mean, is there any redemption for Carlos Estevez
- 45:10Speaker 1: in your mind?
- 45:11Speaker 2: Yeah, So I'm gonna say I don't see redemption for
- 45:15Speaker 2: Estevez because either he's actually hurt or he is hurt
- 45:19Speaker 2: like I don't know how to say. It's like he
- 45:20Speaker 2: hurt his foot or he his arms falling off, like
- 45:23Speaker 2: he looks terrible, and he's got to somehow build that
- 45:26Speaker 2: back up. And to the point, even if he does
- 45:28Speaker 2: get where he was last year, he was walking on
- 45:30Speaker 2: thin ice all year. He lucked out like the wheels
- 45:34Speaker 2: were already gonna fall off, and now the velo fell
- 45:38Speaker 2: off like they just had no chance. So I'm Estevez,
- 45:41Speaker 2: I've written off.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I was written off going to the end of the season.
- 45:45Speaker 1: For me, this is pretty clear.
- 45:46Speaker 2: I think it's Lucas Herzig's role. I think he's the
- 45:49Speaker 2: best pitcher in that bullpen. I think he's going to
- 45:52Speaker 2: run with it. He's been pitching well already already saved
- 45:56Speaker 2: two games. There are some other good pictures there, like
- 45:58Speaker 2: Matt Strom, who you know, just from an overall baseball fan,
- 46:04Speaker 2: is just a fun guy, but he's also he's Matt Strong.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Has just thrived in the fireman type role, and I
- 46:11Speaker 2: think that's where they're going to keep him. So to
- 46:12Speaker 2: your point, there's a lot of saves here in Kansas City.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I think ersig Like is like a mid mid number
- 46:20Speaker 2: two closer at this point during the rest of the season.
- 46:23Speaker 2: And yeah, if you didn't see this one coming, foul
- 46:26Speaker 2: on you, because this was this was kind of bound
- 46:31Speaker 2: to happen. I was so surprised to happen this fast.
- 46:34Speaker 2: It was immediate, But yeah, we kind of kind of
- 46:37Speaker 2: saw this one coming.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I if you want a good dark horse name,
- 46:41Speaker 1: I'd also look at Lunda Ravila, who has been fantastic
- 46:45Speaker 1: and was fantastic for Venezuela and the WBC doesn't hasn't
- 46:50Speaker 1: really ever quite put together the control to be able
- 46:52Speaker 1: to be a big league starter, even though he came
- 46:55Speaker 1: up that way and made thirteen appearances out of the
- 46:58Speaker 1: bullpen for Kansas City's You know, if you see the
- 47:01Speaker 1: Royals want to start using because Ersig is just like
- 47:04Speaker 1: a nails reliever, like he might start moving into a
- 47:06Speaker 1: little bit more of like a high leverage situation. Linder,
- 47:10Speaker 1: a Villa is just like a big time gas Venezuelan
- 47:14Speaker 1: guy that that might be a dark horse, or they
- 47:16Speaker 1: could use a Villa in some sort of longer range
- 47:20Speaker 1: kind of high leverage situation too. So saveholds leagues two
- 47:25Speaker 1: that I think that was becoming more and more popular
- 47:27Speaker 1: that I don't overlook a villa who I think is
- 47:30Speaker 1: actually getting called up to he's actually starting tomorrow against
- 47:35Speaker 1: the Brewer, So never mind. I mean I'm in on
- 47:37Speaker 1: that too. So somebody just to watch, because like that
- 47:40Speaker 1: is another case where yeah, a Villa shows tomorrow against
- 47:44Speaker 1: Milwaukee that he doesn't have the control to start, but
- 47:47Speaker 1: shows a big fastball that can be dangerous in small spurts.
- 47:51Speaker 1: So somebody to watch. But yeah, I'm with you. Ersig
- 47:54Speaker 1: and Strom are certainly the leaders in the clubhouse right now. Okay,
- 47:59Speaker 1: we don't have too much to update you on in
- 48:02Speaker 1: terms of the baseball card release calendar. We did get
- 48:05Speaker 1: we added Bowman twenty twenty six as a TVD. We
- 48:08Speaker 1: don't have a date yet, but it should be. It's
- 48:10Speaker 1: gonna be soon, it's gonna be fast, because it usually
- 48:13Speaker 1: comes out towards the end of April and into early May.
- 48:17Speaker 1: So I wouldn't be surprised when we're talking this time
- 48:20Speaker 1: next week that there actually is a date set for
- 48:23Speaker 1: Bowman and that will be a big enough release that
- 48:25Speaker 1: we'll do a bigger overview for it, because it's going
- 48:28Speaker 1: to have some pretty fun names in it as well
- 48:30Speaker 1: as some really great firsts on top of the rookie cards.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So yeah, with that, we're gonna wrap it up here
- 48:36Speaker 1: on the News and Notes section. We're gonna take a
- 48:38Speaker 1: small break. We'll be back on the other end to
- 48:40Speaker 1: talk about investments for twenty twenty six on both cards
- 48:44Speaker 1: and Dynasty Keeper leagues. All right, welcome back, everybody. We're
- 49:04Speaker 1: just going to get right on into it here talking
- 49:06Speaker 1: about our main subject of the day, and that is
- 49:10Speaker 1: investments that we're making for twenty twenty six on both
- 49:14Speaker 1: the card and the Dynasty Keeper leagues. So I think
- 49:17Speaker 1: this is the nice spot where our podcast especially kind
- 49:21Speaker 1: of crosses over because there's a lot of considerations and
- 49:24Speaker 1: strategies and player evaluations that go into these decisions, and
- 49:31Speaker 1: they pay off nicely. I think for both card investments
- 49:34Speaker 1: and dynasty keeper investments, these are all names that we're
- 49:38Speaker 1: looking to be rising across the board in terms of
- 49:40Speaker 1: I mean hard cash dollar value for these baseball cards,
- 49:44Speaker 1: and then on the dynasty keeper situations, obviously somebody that
- 49:49Speaker 1: you can either move later in the year for bigger names,
- 49:54Speaker 1: or just somebody that you might want to be holding
- 49:56Speaker 1: on to even going into next year because we're expecting
- 49:59Speaker 1: some pretty big breakouts from these guys. So the way
- 50:02Speaker 1: that we split this up is, I let you do
- 50:04Speaker 1: hitters because you're mister top one hundred hitters over at Rasball.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I'm doing the pitchers because I've been covering the starting
- 50:10Speaker 1: pitching beat over at Baseball Perspectus, and we're just gonna
- 50:14Speaker 1: kind of lob it back and forth from there. So
- 50:17Speaker 1: we didn't pick specific cards to invest in the way
- 50:20Speaker 1: that we do a lot for our PC list, but
- 50:23Speaker 1: we will rattle off, like where the Bowman first cards
- 50:27Speaker 1: are for these players, if they exist. I think we've
- 50:30Speaker 1: got a couple names where it's minor league cards only
- 50:33Speaker 1: that maybe we'll see them in Bowman twenty twenty six,
- 50:37Speaker 1: but somebody you know, but names that you might want
- 50:40Speaker 1: to keep in mind when that twenty twenty six Bowman
- 50:43Speaker 1: checklist comes out to look for as well. So Brew,
- 50:47Speaker 1: I'm gonna kick it over you see, Like also from
- 50:49Speaker 1: a profile situation, is there anything that you're really kind
- 50:53Speaker 1: of honed in on in terms of a strategy that
- 50:55Speaker 1: you're looking for specifically on either Cards or Dynasty.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Yeah, So I'm there's probably this relatively the same for
- 51:05Speaker 2: all of them, because if you're looking for deals, it's it,
- 51:08Speaker 2: you know, whether it's Cards, whether it's Fantasy. It's not
- 51:11Speaker 2: the big names. It's not the guys that were first
- 51:14Speaker 2: overall picks. It's not the guys that were already blazing
- 51:17Speaker 2: through the minors and things like that. It's not the
- 51:20Speaker 2: guys that are going to be called up tomorrow.
- 51:23Speaker 1: So you're looking.
- 51:24Speaker 2: So I kind of broke my list up into kind
- 51:26Speaker 2: of three different groups, and so I'll preview the groups
- 51:28Speaker 2: and then I'm just gonna cover one of them before
- 51:30Speaker 2: I lob it back your way. I kind of broke
- 51:32Speaker 2: it up into I'm gonna call it the Connor Griffin group,
- 51:34Speaker 2: which is a complete over sell for this group. But
- 51:39Speaker 2: I'm looking for the guys that have the skill sets
- 51:44Speaker 2: to break out this year and be the number one
- 51:47Speaker 2: guy next year. And it has to be a guy
- 51:50Speaker 2: far enough down that we're not talking like a you know,
- 51:54Speaker 2: a Max Clark or a Selessian Walcott or Eli Willitts
- 51:58Speaker 2: or somebody like that that's already kind of like at
- 52:00Speaker 2: that top ten type prospect.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I'm looking down the listle bit a little bit.
- 52:04Speaker 2: A guy that has to take a reasonable jump by
- 52:07Speaker 2: thirty forty, you know, fifty spot jump and all of
- 52:10Speaker 2: a sudden is in that McGonagall Griffin, you know mode
- 52:14Speaker 2: type conversation. So I'm gonna call it two guys if
- 52:19Speaker 2: I'm not, if I'm allowed.
- 52:20Speaker 1: To for my time. Yeah, there's no rules around I
- 52:24Speaker 1: was gonna do it anyway, but.
- 52:28Speaker 2: I'm going to call out Bryce Ranier for the Detroit Tigers, who,
- 52:33Speaker 2: twenty year old, was the number eleven draft pick by
- 52:37Speaker 2: the Tigers in twenty twenty four whole thirty five games
- 52:42Speaker 2: at single a hit, two eighty eight, five homers, nine steals,
- 52:47Speaker 2: nothing terribly exciting, but there is clearly a skill set
- 52:51Speaker 2: across the board. He has a shortstop, gonna be a
- 52:56Speaker 2: pretty reasonable athletic shortstop. Maybe not the best glove at
- 53:01Speaker 2: this point, We'll have to see how if he can
- 53:02Speaker 2: stick at short. But he also has a pretty mature
- 53:06Speaker 2: approach to the plate. Yeah, just thirty five games last year,
- 53:10Speaker 2: but only struck out twenty two percent of the sign walk
- 53:12Speaker 2: thirteen percent of the time. Definitely has the tools and
- 53:17Speaker 2: at that youth at a level, did not seem to
- 53:20Speaker 2: have any problems whatsoever. And so this is the kind
- 53:23Speaker 2: of guy that could do what we saw with Griffin
- 53:26Speaker 2: or a few other guys who I'm not I couldn't
- 53:29Speaker 2: even look to see where he's projected to start this year.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I assume it's back in a ball and he might
- 53:34Speaker 2: be able to go a double A, maybe even a
- 53:37Speaker 2: triple A this year if he really hones in on
- 53:40Speaker 2: those tools and the skill set appears to be there.
- 53:42Speaker 2: He just didn't get a lot of playing time and
- 53:46Speaker 2: it wasn't like off the charts, But there's a crazy
- 53:49Speaker 2: skill set here. So Rainier's is the first guy I'm
- 53:52Speaker 2: gonna call out, and then I'm gonna also go over
- 53:54Speaker 2: to the Dodgers and.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Also put in a couple of words on Renier if
- 53:57Speaker 1: that's okay. That like He also he only played limited
- 54:00Speaker 1: amount of games because he dislocated his shoulder after the
- 54:03Speaker 1: thirty five games diving for a ball and then had
- 54:06Speaker 1: to get surgery and miss the rest of the year.
- 54:09Speaker 1: So before he went down it was a one thirty
- 54:10Speaker 1: four WRC plus, Like we might have been talking about
- 54:13Speaker 1: him in the vein as Connor Griffin if he was
- 54:16Speaker 1: able to get up to double A. He was on
- 54:19Speaker 1: that trajectory last year. And his Bowmen first is in
- 54:24Speaker 1: twenty twenty four Bowmen draft with Connor Griffin that like, honestly,
- 54:28Speaker 1: his prices are probably they're in decent shape right now
- 54:31Speaker 1: because of that injury, and so now is the time
- 54:34Speaker 1: to invest in Renier before he gets back on the field.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Same thing with the dynasty aspect that I know on
- 54:40Speaker 1: that that end fantasy dynasty heads are in on Renear.
- 54:45Speaker 2: So yeah, but you're looking maybe the your keeper leagues.
- 54:48Speaker 2: You gotten new type of leagues things like that that
- 54:51Speaker 2: are only looking at a year or two because you've
- 54:53Speaker 2: got more limited keeper spots. And to your point on
- 54:56Speaker 2: the card pricing perspective, if you just take like a
- 55:01Speaker 2: McGonagle or a weather Hold and not even gonna go
- 55:04Speaker 2: Griffin pricing here, those those guys are two fifty three
- 55:07Speaker 2: hundred dollars for the first moment autos Renie right now
- 55:09Speaker 2: is low one hundreds. He's one ten, one fifteen for
- 55:13Speaker 2: that pricing, And so you can see the upside there
- 55:16Speaker 2: right that that's a two to three x on that
- 55:20Speaker 2: card value for this guy. So maybe you're not going
- 55:23Speaker 2: the first auto and you're jumping down to you know,
- 55:25Speaker 2: refractors or even just the base chrome. They're very readily
- 55:29Speaker 2: available and pretty pretty much are reasonable. So I said,
- 55:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna jump over to LA here and we're gonna
- 55:37Speaker 2: talk about another young and uh twenty year old EDWARDO Quintero.
- 55:44Speaker 2: And you know, this is a guy that made it
- 55:47Speaker 2: up to high a last year as as a nineteen
- 55:50Speaker 2: year old, you know, across his full swing last year,
- 55:55Speaker 2: uh in the in the miners, which is a and
- 55:58Speaker 2: high A ball hit two twenty three as a slash
- 56:01Speaker 2: line of two ninety three four fifteen fiveh eight, good
- 56:04Speaker 2: for one fifty two WRC plus nineteen homers forty seven steals.
- 56:09Speaker 2: He did get caught thirteen times, so maybe not the
- 56:12Speaker 2: most efficient, more athletic than a keen bass stealer, but
- 56:17Speaker 2: he also walked sixteen percent of the time and only
- 56:20Speaker 2: struck out about a little under twenty three percent of
- 56:22Speaker 2: the time, and he really kind of burst onto the scene.
- 56:26Speaker 2: The thing is for a outfield prospect for the Dodgers,
- 56:30Speaker 2: like Dodgers prospects just don't get the same billions that
- 56:35Speaker 2: a lot of other teams do because there's so much
- 56:37Speaker 2: noise at the major league level that these guys can
- 56:40Speaker 2: kind of just sneak through. But there is a ton
- 56:43Speaker 2: of ton of special talent here. You know, the power
- 56:46Speaker 2: is going to continue to grow his his his game
- 56:52Speaker 2: power is graded at potentially a fifty or sixty grade,
- 56:56Speaker 2: and so you're you're looking at a guy who could
- 56:59Speaker 2: absolutely kind of row into his body and hit twenty
- 57:01Speaker 2: five thirty homers, hit for a solid average, and steal
- 57:05Speaker 2: a ton of basis. And so another guy that could
- 57:07Speaker 2: really just jump up the ranks this year if he
- 57:09Speaker 2: kind of just repeats what he did last year. And
- 57:11Speaker 2: if he repeats what he did last year, he's you know,
- 57:14Speaker 2: he's knocking on the door by the by the end
- 57:16Speaker 2: of the season, and there's also probably nowhere to go.
- 57:20Speaker 2: But I've also seen the question of why isn't Andy
- 57:22Speaker 2: pat has signed some type of extension with the Dodgers.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I would like to point you to Eduardo Cantaro is
- 57:29Speaker 2: is one of the key reasons because they've got these
- 57:32Speaker 2: types of guys coming. You look at the pricing for
- 57:35Speaker 2: cards for something like this, we're talking like eighty bucks
- 57:37Speaker 2: for a first auto. For Cantaro, there is just not
- 57:41Speaker 2: the same hype around him as other guys. But again,
- 57:44Speaker 2: you look at what the numbers he put up, and
- 57:47Speaker 2: you know, they just kind of the the you know,
- 57:50Speaker 2: body type here. He is a six one five, so
- 57:53Speaker 2: he is kind of a more athletic body. He's not
- 57:56Speaker 2: the you know, the kind of griffin tree.
- 57:59Speaker 1: That he is, but yeah, it's easy.
- 58:02Speaker 2: To dream on him adding some bulk to this body
- 58:05Speaker 2: and really leaning into that power. So, like I said,
- 58:09Speaker 2: my first kind of category here was guys that they
- 58:13Speaker 2: have the up arrow and they could break out this
- 58:15Speaker 2: year and absolutely be in the top one to three
- 58:18Speaker 2: to five prospect discussion next year. And then because of that,
- 58:22Speaker 2: when you talk top one to three to five prospects
- 58:25Speaker 2: from a pricing perspective and from a card perspective, you're
- 58:28Speaker 2: talking first moment autos in the two fifty to four
- 58:31Speaker 2: to fifty type range, and these.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Guys are well well below that.
- 58:35Speaker 2: So there's a ton ton of potential to up up
- 58:38Speaker 2: that game. So those are the first two i'm gonna
- 58:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna call out. I think both from a fantasy
- 58:42Speaker 2: perspective and a card perspective, undervalued right now. See to
- 58:47Speaker 2: your point, in the deep dynasty leagues, they're absolutely known
- 58:50Speaker 2: owned things like that, and you know you can go
- 58:55Speaker 2: make a trade from this is probably the cheapest sart
- 58:56Speaker 2: going to be. But there's a ton of upside in
- 58:59Speaker 2: both of these bats.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and Kintaro's Bowman first are in twenty twenty five.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Bowman just came out around this time last year, as
- 59:08Speaker 1: we were talking about also with like JJ Weatherholt was
- 59:11Speaker 1: in that set, and yeah, I think that's a great call.
- 59:14Speaker 1: The other person is taoscar is only signed through twenty
- 59:18Speaker 1: twenty seven, as well as Kyle Tuckery's got that like
- 59:20Speaker 1: sixty million dollar player option for twenty twenty eight. So
- 59:24Speaker 1: I mean the Dodgers have the pipeline ready for the
- 59:27Speaker 1: outfield spots, and I think this year too. What I
- 59:31Speaker 1: like about like Kintaro along with Hope and Jose de
- 59:34Speaker 1: Paula Zayer Hope that is is they're almost like the
- 59:38Speaker 1: Dodgers are like, all right, which one you guys wants
- 59:40Speaker 1: this ta Oscar spot in twenty twenty eight and one
- 59:44Speaker 1: of them is going to claim it is what's going
- 59:46Speaker 1: to happen, and it's going to be a huge, huge performance.
- 59:48Speaker 1: So yeah, I even thought.
- 59:49Speaker 2: About putting Hope in this conversation because I feel like
- 59:52Speaker 2: they're they're the similar thought process. I think Hope's already
- 59:55Speaker 2: a thought of a little higher than Cantaro, So that's
- 59:57Speaker 2: why I went a little farther down from the value perspective.
- 59:59Speaker 1: But yeah, you're you're right.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: It's kind of like they've they've built their outfield of
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: the future in the minors and just figure that you
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: guys figure this out for us.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Well, if you don't, we'll just buy somebody else. Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: And I think to Paul is probably more of a
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: first basement anyway, it seems like from the reports on
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: his frame and just overall approach. So uh yeah, I
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: think those are good names to start with. So I'm
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: gonna should I do too as well, just I think
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: you should.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I think I'll set the standard now.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Plus, I mean, the two that I have at the
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: top of my list are pretty special arms, I think,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: so the first one is this is the guy that
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I've got pegged for twenty twenty six to be like
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: this year's Trey or Savage, And that's Cayden Scarborough from
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: the Texas Rangers. He actually doesn't have a bowman first yet,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: so I expect, honestly this might be a guy who
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: is in twenty twenty six bowmen and he he was
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: lights out last year for the Texas Rangers, as he
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: was a twenty twenty three sixth round pick out of
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: high school, and last year across two levels A and
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: A High A, he put up eighty eight innings of
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: a eleven point seven K nine with a two point
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: two walk per nine. That's a twenty seven point one
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: percent K minus BB, A two forty five ERA, A
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: two ninety four FIP. He's also huge, six foot five.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: It says one eighty five listed, but I think he's
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: bigger than one eighty five after he got like into
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: the minor league kind of strength and conditioning program, big
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: old fastball as you expect out of a right hander
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: like this for the Texas Rangers. Obviously is coming through
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: that system and gonna get to be able to pitch
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: in Globe Life Park, which is a boon for pitchers.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: But he's got a big old fastball, he's got a
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: really nice slider. Just watch some of the video of
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: him and you're just like, Wow, that dude has ace
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: potential when you're just watching him on the mount. I
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: love everything about Scarborough that like, honestly, I've been kind
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: of squirreling them away in all the leagues that we're
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: in and not like nominating him and not anew and stuff,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: because it's also like you got to it's tough with
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: a player like this because like everyone's saying twenty twenty
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: eight ETA and stuff. But like, he moved fast last
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: year and I think he's gonna move fast this year,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: especially if the Rangers are on the precipice of a
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: wild card or something. This is their kind of ace
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: up the sleeve to be able to make a run
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: down the stretch. And I think, no matter what, you're
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: gonna see Scarborough really shooting up top one hundred lists.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: He's seventy first to start the season for fangrafts, but
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I think by the end of the season you're looking
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: at a top twenty to twenty five type of guy.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: So invest now get in the brakes. For Texas Rangers
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: now when you see him in products coming for twenty
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: twenty six. Otherwise, you do have some Panini cards from
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty four you can invest in, and some minor
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: league cards. So there are Scarborough cards out on the market.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Scoop him up all you can.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: I will have to say, like Scarborough, like for all
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: the things that you and I talk about, he has control,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: he has power, He keeps the ball down, he'd like
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: said when you watch him pitch, he's always pounding down
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: on the zone, like you like the pitch ability that
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: you already see. There's definitely a maturing that will need
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: to happen here. But like you're right, if he does
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: what he did last year and just put some growth
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: into it and then maybe puts a few more pounds
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: on that frame, Yeah, this this could be This could
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: be really scary. And I like your call from a
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Texas ballpark perspective, like yeah, like that's that's a nice,
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: nice place to pitch. So, yeah, who's the second guy
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: you want to call out?
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: So the second guy, I mean, this is another guy
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: you're looking at probable ace potential. Noah Schultz from the
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Chicago White Sox. He was a first round dur in
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: twenty twenty two and was the sexty name for a
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: long time. But I think he probably fell off people's radars,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: especially these past couple of years. He's really I mean
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: not actually a couple of years. Just last year was
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: a real struggle with his control. Put up a awful
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: thirteen point eight percent walk right across Double A and
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Triple A as it looked like, you know, he was
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: kind of starting to trend towards Can he figure it out?
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Can the White Sox actually turn this around? Or is
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: he just a lefty reliever with this lack of control.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I am here to report he turned it around. He
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: was great during spring. He's looked great in his first
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: nine innings at triple A. Ten k's to two walks
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: with a just giving up one run. He's throwing, he's
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: keeping it on the ground, and he's another one of
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: these guys where it's Cam Schlitzler is like the hallmark
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: of this now of the three fastball approach with the
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: with the four seam, the cutter, and the sinker. Schultz
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: has been working all of them as a six' ten
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: lefty out of a funky. Slot The White sox starting
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: rotation is god awful and BOTH i Expect schultz And tanner,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: McDougall he was the other GUY i was thinking about
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: for this. Exercise he didn't quite make my final cut
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: of the. List but McDougall And SCHULTZ i think are.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Up BY i mean McDougall's on the forty. Man he
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: might be up like within the next couple of. Weeks
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: schultz is not the forty, man but it's pretty easy
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to find a forty man spot when you've got a
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: talent like this and a tough rotation like THE.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I was gonna, say was it the talent like this
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: or is the forty man life?
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: Size? Yeah yeah When, yeah there's nobody in The chicago
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: rotation that is anything, special And Shane smith has not been,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: hot although it's been very luck. Unbased but, yeah get
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: back in On schultz now while you, can BECAUSE i
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: think when he gets, up you're looking at like left Handed.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Jacobssierowski that's exactly what it, is and honestly it's the
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: exact same. Profile it's just out of that left. Side
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: so in terms of, cards you're looking at twenty Twenty
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: bowman draft for any. Firsts but he's had, product he's
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: been in products ever since then because he was a
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: first round pick and a big.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Name, YEAH i think it's a good, Call like this
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: is the kind of guy that just oos his talent
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: and does he figure it. Out he kind of fell
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: off last. Year it seems like it figured things out this,
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: year and there's no reason for The White sox not
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: to give him a. Shot LIKE i think they're gonna
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: keep him down for a little. Bit but like his
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: to your, point like his markets down in fantasy, cards
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: all those types of, THINGS i won't be surprised to see,
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: that you, know pop very very.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Quickly, yeah, WELL i mean The White sox need to
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: sell some tickets. Too so if you can show, that
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: like you've Got schultz, Up you've Got, Markami you've got
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: a pretty young lineup Around, markami they'll get butts back in.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Seats all, Right who is your next pick for the hitter?
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Side all? Right do you want me to do like
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: seven this? Time or So i'm to keep thving them
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: up BECAUSE i want to do a few of the. Time.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Here my next Theme i'm gonna go with are guys
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: that are closer to the majors OR i would say
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: they're not necessarily, closer But i'm gonna say these are
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: high floor guys that are just kind of, undervalued under ranked,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: overall but will surprise you when they get. There and
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: so first Guy i'm gonna call out, Here i'm gonna.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Go back To.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: Detroit uh And i'm gonna mispronounce his. NAMES i didn't
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: look up for to say it as Josh U, brissino
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: uh for For Jose, bino see.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Whatever i'm close.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Enough but you, know he did uh tear attending his
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: wrist in spring, training and so that's kind, of you,
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: know sheltered a little bit of the prospect excitement on,
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: him and so he's gonna be out for some. Time
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: but this guy has an absolute hit. Tool he you,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: know it's A i think there's a question of is
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: he going to be a, catcher is he going to
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: be a first? Baseman is he going to be a D.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: H i don't THINK i really, care because the guy can.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Hit you, know last year he made it To DOUBLE,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: a you, know at twenty years, old and you, know
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: across the full season where he played AT a high
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: And DOUBLE, a he.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Hit two sixty six twenty.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: Homers seventy six RBIs walked fifty percent of the, time
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: struck out under twenty percent of the, time and, yeah
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: when he got to DOUBLE, a that did shift a little,
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: bit struck out a little bit, more walked a little bit.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: Less but that was across one hundred, games and you
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: know that's a good for one fifty THREE wrc. Plus
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: he and when he got to DOUBLE a took a
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: little bit of adjusting and then he started to figure things.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Out but he just looks like a, very very solid.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Hitter and at the same, time he's just not getting
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: a lot of love.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Because it's It's.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Detroit you have other big names Like Max clark, There kevin, McGonagall,
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: like But pristino is like the third compadre there to
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: make up that. Trio SO i think there's a lot
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: to like in this. PROFILE i think that the price
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: of admission has decreased because of this, injury and people were,
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: like there WAS i think a question of, like is
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: he going to be exciting enough to try to like
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: force the hand and maybe get to start at TRIPLE
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: a and you, know come up right there behind. McGonagall,
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: yeah that's clearly not gonna happen because the. Injury but
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: you also look at like the card price at, perspective
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: And i'm doing this for, memory SO i haven't looked
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: this flicks it up, real But i'm pretty sure we're
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: talking like a forty fifty Dollars bowmen first auto type
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: of price, Here so very very reasonable for a guy
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: that has a pretty strong power tool has no, speed
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: to be very very. Clear, ironically his prospect report has
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: his speed of thirty on a twenty future. SCALE i
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: don't know the last TIME i saw somebody actually out
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: achieving their future projections on a prospect. Scale but he
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: has sixty raw, power sixty projecting game power when he
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: when he fully gets to. It AND i think there's
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: a lot to like in this profile because he's probably
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: gonna be a strong first BASEMAN d, eight probably hitting
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: two sixty five to seventy thirty thirty five homers without
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: missed the. BEAT i think this is a real strong
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: bad going. Forward, yeah, yeah second, guy go, Ahead, yeah
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: the second GUY i wanted to get into here.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: On top of. It twenty twenty Five bowmen For, brisania.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Yep twenty twenty Five, bowmen thank you for keeping me honest.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Here i'm liking a lot of these guys that just
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: had their the recent. Moments so second GUY i want
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: to call out here is another kind OF i would,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: say somewhat behind the scenes guys that hasn't got the
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: same kind of. Love and before you go there twenty
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: twenty four moments with his next guy is going to
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: be And i'm going to call Out Kaylene culpepper for
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: The Minnesota. Twins culpepper did start this season At TRIPLE,
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: a but let's go back last season. Four this is
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: a guy that was a first round pick twenty one
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: overall in twenty twenty. FOUR i wouldn't call him the
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: big physical sen. Specimen he's just a Big he's a stout,
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: dude five ten.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Eighty.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Five so when you look at what he did last,
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: year and this is kind of like Behind Luke keishall
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: getting a lot of. Attention was he hit two eighty,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: nine three seventy, five four sixty nine for slash line
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: as one THIRTY awrc plus twenty, homers twenty five. Steals
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: he only got cop stealing four times across two levels
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: of the. Miners already this season five games At TRIPLE,
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: a he's hitting three or four he's already hit a.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: Bomb he just looks very very. Comfortable strikeout rate generally
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: under twenty, percent walks right under around that ten percent,
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: clip and so he definitely looks like he's gonna be
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: a guy that. Sticks right now he is playing. Shortstop
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: does he long term stick? THERE i think there's a
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: little question. THERE i think he's a decent, fielder but
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: maybe not like the you, know a perfect prototypical shortstop
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: that you're going to lean. Into BUT i Think culpeper
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: is definitely a guy that is going to climb up
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: ranks quickly because he just looks, very very comfortable to,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: play AND i think he has a sneaky power tool
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: that could get him into that kind of twenty to
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: twenty five power twenty to twenty five steel range with
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: a respectable. Average and then you go to the value
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: side where the market's at with, him And i'd say
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: it's the same for fantasy as it would be for
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: like the card. Market card. Market you can give his
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: First bowman auto for like forty to fifty. Bucks from
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: a rankings, perspective like mlbism lies like the fiftieth. Prospect,
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: overall he's right behind your Guy Noah schultz by a
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: few spots. HERE i, again if he can develop into
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: a twenty to twenty twenty or twenty five twenty five
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: guy with a decent, average that's like the guys we
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: were talking, about is like top, ten top, fifteen AND
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: i don't see a reason he can't do. It the
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: big downfall is he's In. Minnesota like maybe there's a
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: spirit to What i'm talking about besides The, Dodgers you're
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: talking About Minnesota detroit type of guys that just don't
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: get the same you, know fanfare at the end of the.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Day so, WELL i mean the next thing With, minnesota, though,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: too is there's lots of opportunity at that big league
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: club this. Year SO i, mean he's only got to
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: overcome Brooks lee at shortstop AND i, mean or just
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: wait For Royce lewis. Injury so it's not going to take,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: MUCH i, think For culpeper to open up a spot In.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Minnesota SO i think this is a great call and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: also a pretty immediate payoff hopefully for you With culpepper
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: that he should be up this. Summer, yeah he really.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Should and that's kind of what you. Know AS i
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: looked at the kind of. This next.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Tiers guys that like get have the high floor should
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: have a little bit sooner. Payoff you're not talking more
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: than six twelve months with with these types of. Guys
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: and all, Right i'm gonna get a three pack in
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: before we go back to, you because you, Know i'm
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: abusing any rules that we had. Predetermined And i'm going
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: to go To Mike sirota The. Dodgers just a warning
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: if you try to go To fangrafts and type him
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: in and you do WHAT i. Did you Get Mike
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: soroka the actual picture for The White sox for a
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: number of years.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: AGO i hold different Profile soroka cards. Too from it's
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: a really different fantasy.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: Profile But serota was the third round pick of The
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: reds back in twenty, four and so he should be
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: IN i believe draft for twenty. FOUR i didn't actually
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: look to see you probably already got there for.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Me.
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: Yep here was a draft for twenty, four, correct. Yep
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: and So i'm just gonna bare lead. Now the pricing
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: basically all three of the guys we just talked. About
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: from like a card, perspective it's that forty to fifty
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: dollars bo when first auto and, that and these are
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: guys that when they get called up it could double
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: triple maybe even caught quadruple that that type of price.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Point but So seroda came over to The dodgers in
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: That Gavin lux, trade and you, know we were joking
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: about all the outfielders that The dodgers have and trying
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: to figure out who's going to stake a. CLAIM i
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Think soroda is kind of a dark horse in that
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: discussion last year for The dodgers between SINGLE a and DOUBLE.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: A and this is a college bat coming, through you,
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: know as a, reminder so he's actually twenty two years.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Old he hit three thirty, three, four fifty, two, six
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: sixteen on his slash, line so it's fifty nine games
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: with thirteen. Homers i'm going to say he stole fud
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: basically also got caught five. Times so like we're not
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: this isn't a speed. Play uh it Was sirota. Here
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: but he did hit three thirty. Three he walked eighteen
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: percent of the, time he has a very very keen,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: eye only struck out twenty two percent of the. Time
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: this is a very mature hitter because he is that
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: college BAT i expect him to run through the levels pretty.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: Quickly the biggest issue With serota, is again he's got.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: It there's a lot of competition The dodgers and those outfield,
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: spaces but this feels like a very very safe bat
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: as a guy THAT i think it could be even
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: later this. Year he's making some noise because he again
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: he has a very strong power bat that really feels
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: like it could play well in the minors for The.
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: Dodgers SO i think he's gonna make a lot of.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: NOISE i think people are gonna be surprised by. Him
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: he was a really strong college bat as. Well so
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: Again i'm going to three guys that all kind of
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: have high floors should be in the, conversation if not
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: late this, year early next, year That i'm really.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Excited about investing. THEM i don't really see much of a. Downside,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: yeah and we've talked About serota. Before he's been a
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: popular name on, here AND i think What i've also
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: liked about him is that The dodgers originally drafted, him
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: and then he went to, college and then The reds drafted,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: him and then The dodgers made sure to go and
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: Pursue Mike. Serota SO i, mean The dodgers are easily
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: the smartest team in the entire. League even though they're
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: like perpetually winning These World, Series they're still have like
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: the best system in the entire, league or one of
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: the best. Systems and this is, why because they they find.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Guys if you are A Cincinnati reds, fan you might
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: want to just like tune out because you, Know serota
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: came over in The gavin lux. Deal this next guy
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: also was traded from The reds to The, dodgers but
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: he was a thrown in that weird Like ben Rhurtvet
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Hunter fiduccia trade that happened at the deadline last. Year
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: AND i think The dodgers got away with highway robbery.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Here i'm Talking Adam, sirwanowski who is a twenty one
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: year old six foot five left hander who JUST i
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: don't even know like how The reds would have let
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: a guy like this go because every stop he was
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: striking out eleven per nine or. More the walks are
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: a little bit of an, issue but you seeing a
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: lot of like almost like The Noah schultze like hallmarks,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: here where once you get him into an organization that
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: knows what they're. Doing it feels like he's going to take.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Off and that did happen last year where he made
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: DOUBLE a for The, dodgers And serronowski's going to open
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: at DOUBLE a this. Year you know how The dodgers
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: kind of cycle those dudes in and out of the
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: rotation in terms of. INJURIES i Think surahenowski's got a
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: really great shot of making it to the majors this,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: year and if, not really making some Hay as being
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: like their next kind of like big guy to be
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: coming through that. System and he's not on the top
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: one hundreds, yet BUT i think once he starts getting
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: into action here for twenty twenty, six he's gonna rise pretty.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Fast BECAUSE i, mean he's a big old left handed
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: arm and we've gone through this many times in the
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: spot that like there's nothing we like more than a
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: big old left handed, arm and he's thrown in the
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: mid ninety with a nasty. Slider this is this is
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: an electric guy on top of. It he is in
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty Four Bowman. Chrome he was in The prospect
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: set From chrome that. Year you can get just his
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: base Like Chrome auto for like twenty. Bucks you can
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: start getting numbered and color cards AND psa tens for
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: like forty to. Fifty and you're talking about The. Dodgers
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: this is a guy who is going to have a
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: huge market when he starts rising because of the number
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Of dodgers. Collectors and on top of, it it's going
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: to be the same THING i think with dynasty and keeper,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: leagues where he's gonna start rising pretty quickly because the
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: possibility of him pitching in front of a Great dodgers
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: defense and getting those ws for Your rotisseriy league are
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: really really. High so this is going to BE i
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: think one of the bigger risers that happens this. Year
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: and he's starting a DOUBLE, a so he's starting off
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: right on the right foot For.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: Sarnowski, yeah and don't underestimate That dodgers collecting Mar THAT'S
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: i think the one thing that we could. Say and
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: again that's the Third dodger we talked about. Today there's
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: an aspect of this of there's a, big Big dodgers fan,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: base especially in the card.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Market, okay Well i'm gonna do another one, then because
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: you did, it you did three packs all, day you
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: can do. It and So i've Got Jack winneger from
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: The New York, mets also from the u OF i
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: so went to college just down the road from you
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and from where we grew up in twenty twenty. Three
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: Bowman draft is where you'll find his. Cards but this
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: is the next big ARM i think that's coming through
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: for The. Mets AS i, mean this is another machine
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: that's being created By David stearns over In New york
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: where he's just copying and pasting what he did In.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: Milwaukee And winneger is one of the ones that's really
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: kind of benefited from that great. Control only walked people
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: at like A evanish seven and a half percent clip
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: throughout his past few stops in the mior, leagues and
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: the strikeout rate has been, fantastic covering around twenty five.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Percent more of your traditional kind of six foot, four
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: right handed, guy not as quite as much, velo, nasty
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: nasty change up though he's a change up. Artist that's
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: his signature. Pitch it falls off a, cliff AND i
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: mean everyone is focused here on like The Jonah thongs
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: and The nolan McLain's from The New York, mets But
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: WINNAKERS i think right on that level with, them he
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: should be opening the season At TRIPLE. A and, yeah
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: he actually made an appearance already four and two thirds
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: innings with five k's and a, walk so he's right.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: There great ground ball rate because of that change, Up
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: SO i think he's not Gonna he doesn't have quite
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: the ceiling as some of these other Guys i've talked,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: about but this is like the solid number three rotation
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: arm that you need to be able to survive an entire.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Season AND i, mean oh, boohoo it's only a nine
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: and a HALF k, nine so gonna. Be he is
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: in top one hundred listed in like the back. End
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: BUT i think he's overlooked because of all the other
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: young arms In New york that there's still plenty of
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: arbitrage in terms of his price from both cards and
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: both dynasty fantasy leagues out. There so get on winninger,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: now because again another guy who has a twenty twenty SEVEN.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Eta everything's pointing to he's gonna be pitching In queens
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: at some point this.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: SEASON i think the other thing to call out is
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: he's got two seasons back to back now over one
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: hundred innings one hundred and fifteen to twenty twenty, four
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty, five and twenty twenty. Five and
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: so this is a guy that's got built up already
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: in the minor. Leagues and so to your, point later
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: in the, year he making a name for himself is
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: not a big. Question it's not like they're gonna have
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: to temper, it and that That mets rotation is not
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: really that exciting right. Now SO i think there's gonna
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: be gonna be. Opportunities so, YEAH i think this is
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: a good. Call seems like he's got some some big,
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: stuff and, YEAH i think he's gonna be a quick
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: riser as.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Well SO i like this. Call do you want to
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: do one more or are you coming? Back i'll just
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: kind of, empty BUT i have left real. Quick so
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: my last kind of three people to highlight are Dider
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: pointes from The Atlanta. Braves was electric in. Spring everybody
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: was all over, him opened the season in the, bullpen
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: then went. DOWN i think he's going to be back
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: up here pretty, soon that The braves need. Him another
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: electric arm kind of in the vein Of Luindo, avila
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: WHO i was talking about, earlier but more control, That,
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: LIKE i think the sky is almost limit For, pointes
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: but has also been a really popular name because that
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: spring training. Performance i'm just SAYING i believe. It so
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: whatever people are charging for Did Dyer, Pointes i'm buying
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: it BECAUSE i think there's still more. Upside the next
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: One's Mick abel from The Minnesota. Twins did not look
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: great in that relief appearance during the first, week but
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: should move back into a rotation spot and again looks
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: great in spring and The twins made wholesale changes to his.
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Approach he really curbed his control or, controlled curbed the walk,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: rate increased the. Control you don't want to be curbing the,
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: control big old. ARM i think a little bit more
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: variance there because of what you've seen traditionally From, able
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: BUT i think he's going to have all the opportunity
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: in the world to figure it out From. Minnesota so
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: a big kind of strikeout name That i'm tracking For
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: fantasy and same thing for cards that like it's going
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: to be a little bit different because he's not going
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: to be in That twins, uniform but you're going to
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: see a little bit of a bump and people will
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: probably trying to offload His philly stuff From phillies. Collectors
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: last Name Bishop letson from The Milwaukee, brewers maybe a year,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: early but this is another, big old right handed arm
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: that The brewers are developed being very, quickly AND i
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: think they've got enough dudes in front of him that
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: he's not going to be seeing action this. Year but
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: if everything falls, right you could be Seeing let'son up
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: later this. Year but even if he, ISN'T i think
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: it's now is the time to be getting in on
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: both the cards and from a dynasty, perspective before he
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: really starts getting on a raised. RADAR i know you've
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: been into all The japanese stuff, recently So i'm gonna
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: bounce back to you BECAUSE i know you've probably got
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: a couple socketed here for in terms Of japanese, investments
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: you're making over twenty twenty, six.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: Right, Yep absolutely so all in there BECAUSE i think
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: there's really two main guys from a hitting perspective That
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: i'm looking, at And i'm gonna say ones for really
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: investing in over twenty six for next. Offseason the other
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: is probably investing over twenty six twenty seven for the
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: following off, season so you get a year and.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Two both were on THE wbc.
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: Team both also on the Hand Chen tigers, team and
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: so we're talking About Taouki saito And Shoto marshita for The.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Tigers There, sato If i'm going to give you a
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: comp it's hobby. Bias he's got some spunk to. Him
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: he was THE mvp last, year hit over forty home.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Runs this guy is an absolute all.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Star he's a.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: PERSONALITY i think he's got, big big, things and he's
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: the kind of guy that gets. Posted AND i think
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: he's the kind of the in between of what we saw.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: With akamotive And.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Murakami murakami had these strikeout issues and. Concerns we don't really.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Have that With.
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: Saito akimoto's got more of a floor and we've got
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: more than that Was. SAITO i actually like him better
- 1:26:36Speaker 2: than both of those guys coming, Over SO i think
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: there this is a, big big opportunity for this kind of.
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: Guy so if you're in one of those open universe,
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: Leagues sato is a guy to go. After if you're
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: in the card. Market his market is actually been picking
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: it up SINCE, wbc which is the kind of the downfall.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: Here it's going to drop back off because we have
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: recency bias and so hold on that will drop drop back.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Off morashita a little bit further, off LIKE i, said
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: but an absolute athletic. Body, uh this is a guy
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: that really really shows his. Stuff he is a you,
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: know absolute star in the. Outfield he plays right field
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: most of the, time but can play center. Left you,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: know last year he was a guy that managed twenty three,
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: homers hitting two seventy five as a twenty four year.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Old this, year let's just say he's already off to
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: a hot. Start five, games two, homers hitting four twenty
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: one with a slash line four twenty five seven thirty seven.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Slugging that's a two fifty THREE wrc plus because five
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: games is a. Sample so these are guys that are
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: absolutely carry that team and they're gonna be big names
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: over the next few. Years The tigers probably will not
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: post both of them at one point in. Time they're
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: gonna spread him out because, hey you get to think
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: they have to sell tickets over there as. Well but
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: both of them have made it known that they want
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: to come over to THE Mlb sato, Especially so both
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: of these guys are absolute. Pickups you, know, if LIKE i,
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: said if you have an Open Universe. League from a fantasy,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: PERSPECTIVE i would own both of, them and from a
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: card collecting, perspective both of. Them sato's in twenty twenty one,
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: Products morshida is in twenty twenty three. Products the just
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: for all You japanese collectors out, there twenty twenty one
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: was the first year OF Npb Tops, chrome and so
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: that's like the set that's you, know Even murakami is
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: not a. Rookie he's considered a rookie in. There is
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: not a rookies considered in there because that's the First
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Tops chrome cards that they, had and so but that
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: is the rookie For, sato and that's gonna drive quite
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: the pretty pinning when he's coming.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Over with those.
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: Cards so if you get a chance to pick up
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: maybe some hobby box or something like that a few hundred,
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: bucks they're actually quite. Even picking up probably the most
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: popular product over the last few years over there is
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: a lot different than picking up A bowman product over.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: Here, yeah, WELL i mean you'll find you'll still find
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Those Tops CHROME mpb And TOPS npb twenty twenty three
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: and The blister packs At. Walgreens they show up all the.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: TIME i don't know where they come, from but they
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: appear every once in a while at Every walgreens THAT i.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: See so if you are a Degenerate walgreens baseball card
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: purchaser like, us look at those blister packs that have
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: THE mpp cards because they will have those and a
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: lot of the other guys that have come over that you,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: know The, yamamotos The Roki, sasaki's The murakami's in there
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: can go for a decent amount if you hit a parallel,
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: especially so something to keep an eye out in terms
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: of retail environments. Too, okay, WELL i think we gave
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: everybody a great list of. Names i'm sure that you
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: AND i just showed all the cards to each other
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: in terms of our fantasy leagues and what our watch
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: lists look. Like so a fun exercise in that aspect.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Too but we're going to wrap it up for this,

- 1:30:18Speaker 2: hundred hitter rankings goings this weekend because we will have
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: a full week of, games and that means everything's.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Changed at this.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: POINT i THINK i have to adjust for all these
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: rookies that did get the call and making. Noise so
