- 1:10Speaker 1: on Instagram or Facebook, I posted a picture last week
- 1:14Speaker 1: of the most spectacular looking cookies I've ever seen. They
- 1:18Speaker 1: were custom designed for the Bengal Super Bowl appearance with
- 1:21Speaker 1: Joe Burrow jerseys, who Day number one, foam fingers, Bengals logos,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and even coffin nails. Bam Bam bam cookies. They were
- 1:30Speaker 1: made by a friend of mine named Courtney Talty, who
- 1:33Speaker 1: has to be one of the world's finest cookie decorators.
- 1:37Speaker 1: She lives in Cincinnati and doesn't ship her cookies around
- 1:40Speaker 1: the country, but if you live in the area and

- 1:46Speaker 1: you should check her out on Facebook. Again, the name
- 1:49Speaker 1: is Courtney Talty. That's t A L. T. Y Oh.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And by the way, they taste as great as they look.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Now time for an extensive radio replay of Super Bowl
- 2:02Speaker 1: fifty six. Fifty four seasons ago, the most innovative coach
- 2:08Speaker 1: in sports history brought professional football to Cincinnati, and today
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals get their third opportunity to make Paul
- 2:16Speaker 1: Brown's dream a reality as they face the Los Angeles
- 2:21Speaker 1: Rams in Super Bowl fifty six. The Bengals are going
- 2:25Speaker 1: to go for it on fourth in a long yard
- 2:27Speaker 1: at the Los Angeles forty nine. Burrow in the gun,
- 2:30Speaker 1: p Rhyn stays in. Joe Burrow drops back to throw
- 2:33Speaker 1: short pass it's pattered away. It's incomplete, intended for Jamar Chase.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Looked like Jalen Ramsey got a hand on it and
- 2:40Speaker 1: the Bengals fail. On fourth down and one Stafford back
- 2:44Speaker 1: to throw, He's gonna love it toward the end zone.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Junior reaches up and comes down to the ball.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's a touchdown for the Rams as Odell Beckham Junior
- 2:54Speaker 1: went up and over Mike Hilton to haul in the
- 2:57Speaker 1: game's first touchdown. Burrow back to throw, wants to float
- 3:00Speaker 1: it high and deep fore Chase is it the twenty
- 3:03Speaker 1: reaches out comes down to the ball half the eleven
- 3:06Speaker 1: yard line, a spectacular finger tip catch by Numero Uno Amma.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Bengals will have it at the eleven After a forty
- 3:16Speaker 1: six yard bomb from Burrow to Chase, Oh flip the
- 3:20Speaker 1: football field almost half a field. He's working against Ramsey
- 3:23Speaker 1: one on one. Ramsey falls down. He turns to try
- 3:26Speaker 1: to find the football and then he loses his balance
- 3:29Speaker 1: in Jamar Chase finds the ball, tracks the ball, makes
- 3:33Speaker 1: a diving catch one on one against Jalen Ramsey. First
- 3:37Speaker 1: opportunity Jamar Chase for forty six big yard and that
- 3:40Speaker 1: was a one handed spectacular catch as it started with
- 3:43Speaker 1: a right hand only shooter. McPherson swings the right leg
- 3:47Speaker 1: a high spinning end over end kick. It is good am.
- 3:51Speaker 1: The Bengals are on the scoreboard. A second down in
- 3:54Speaker 1: five from the Cincinnati eleven, the Rams leading the Bengals
- 3:57Speaker 1: seven three. Here in the second quarter, Matthew Stafford, under
- 4:00Speaker 1: center receiver, goes in motion. They fake a hand on
- 4:03Speaker 1: Stafford throwing into the end zone. Cooper Cup Wide open
- 4:06Speaker 1: in the back right corner. Hey makes the catch for
- 4:09Speaker 1: a Ram's touchdown. Higgins sample and Boyd out to the
- 4:13Speaker 1: right in a cluster. The Bengals toss it to the right.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Mixons throws into the back of the end zone. It
- 4:18Speaker 1: is called by T. Higgins. Touchdown Bengals Shoe Mixon floating
- 4:26Speaker 1: one into the back right corner of the end zone
- 4:29Speaker 1: and T. Higgins pulls it in for the Bengals touchdown.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Talked about trickeration Joe Mixon. Everybody starts downhill to fill
- 4:37Speaker 1: the run sweet they think it's gonna be a squeet.
- 4:40Speaker 1: They don't even look for T. Higgins. By the time
- 4:42Speaker 1: the recovery is made, it's way too late for Nick Scott,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and Nick Scott says, oh my gosh, Mixon's gonna throw
- 4:49Speaker 1: it right over his Headford touchdown great called by Zach
- 4:52Speaker 1: Taylor on the trickeration Pock running two twelve left and
- 4:55Speaker 1: a half third down in fourteen empty backfield, shotgun snap
- 4:58Speaker 1: Stafford from the pocket, looking scrambling left, squares his shoulders,
- 5:03Speaker 1: points deep, fires toward the end zone. Intercepted into the
- 5:06Speaker 1: end zone, it is picked off by Jesse Bates and
- 5:10Speaker 1: the Bengals will get the ball at the twenty year defends.
- 5:12Speaker 1: They intercept Matthew Stafford Joe Mixon in the backfield. He
- 5:16Speaker 1: had forty rushing yards in the first half. They fake
- 5:19Speaker 1: to him. Burrow now scrambling fires deep down field for
- 5:22Speaker 1: Higgins to push it over. His defender, catches the ball,
- 5:26Speaker 1: runs it into the end zone. There's no po a
- 5:30Speaker 1: seventy five yard touchdown. Burrow two Higgins as he knocked
- 5:35Speaker 1: over Jay Ramsey and ran it into the end zone
- 5:38Speaker 1: to give the Bengals the lead. Stafford throws over the
- 5:41Speaker 1: middle and it is intercepted. It was deflected off Cooper
- 5:45Speaker 1: Cup and it's picked off. The Bengals will take over
- 5:49Speaker 1: at the thirty two chinabay O wooge on the deflection
- 5:54Speaker 1: off Cooper Cup and the Bengals have the lead and
- 5:57Speaker 1: the ball at the Rams thirty two second takeaway by
- 6:01Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals defense turn down in four from the
- 6:04Speaker 1: twelve of the Rams shotgun snap, Burrow cots the arm
- 6:07Speaker 1: and gets smashed to the ground. Burrow gets sacked back
- 6:10Speaker 1: at the twenty yard live Aaron Donald with his second
- 6:15Speaker 1: sack of this drive, and the Bengals will have to
- 6:17Speaker 1: settle for the field goal try by Evan McPherson. Park
- 6:20Speaker 1: Haruse will snap it back to Kevin Hubert. Huber, looking
- 6:23Speaker 1: back at his kicker, now turns his head, extends the
- 6:25Speaker 1: right hand, catches the ball, puts it down. McPherson's kick
- 6:29Speaker 1: lofted and it is good. He remains perfect in the postseason,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and the Bengals have scored seventeen straight to take a
- 6:39Speaker 1: twenty to thirteen lead. Matt Gay is into attempt to
- 6:43Speaker 1: forty one yard field goal try from the middle of
- 6:45Speaker 1: the field, trying to cut the Bengals lead down to four.
- 6:48Speaker 1: His kick on its way and it is perfect right
- 6:52Speaker 1: down the middle from forty one yards out, so the
- 6:55Speaker 1: Rams get points, but they do not get even. Rams
- 6:59Speaker 1: have sacked Joe Burrow six times. They've hit him eight times.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It's third down and nine. Usama in the backfield to
- 7:05Speaker 1: the left of Burrow to pick up the rush. Burrow
- 7:07Speaker 1: under pressure and he is sacked for the seventh time.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Joe Burrow is down and grabbing his right knee. Oh boy.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Five h seven left and the Rams ready to go
- 7:18Speaker 1: for it on fourth and one at their own thirty
- 7:22Speaker 1: Stafford under center. They're going to go with an end
- 7:24Speaker 1: a round and it's going to work as Cooper Cup
- 7:27Speaker 1: will run it out to the thirty seven yard line
- 7:30Speaker 1: second down and goal from the one. As the Rams
- 7:32Speaker 1: look for a go ahead touchdown, Stafford is under center,
- 7:35Speaker 1: takes the snap, floats a fade into the end zone,
- 7:38Speaker 1: and it is caught for a touchdown to give the
- 7:42Speaker 1: Rams the lead. Cooper Cup with the catch and the
- 7:46Speaker 1: Rams have pulled ahead. With one twenty five to go,
- 7:50Speaker 1: the Bengals had to use another time out. They're down
- 7:52Speaker 1: to their final time out with forty three seconds to go.
- 7:55Speaker 1: They need to gain about ten more yards to be
- 7:57Speaker 1: within field goal range, but first things first, they need
- 8:00Speaker 1: to gain one to keep their hopes alive in Super
- 8:03Speaker 1: Bowl fifty six. Burrow ready for the shotgun snap on
- 8:07Speaker 1: fourth in the yard long count, Joe has the ball,
- 8:10Speaker 1: drops back to throw, he gets hit, he gets rid
- 8:13Speaker 1: of the ball. It's incomplete intended for p Ryan and
- 8:16Speaker 1: the Los Angeles Rams are going to win the Super Bowl.
- 8:21Speaker 1: In the final score, the Rams twenty three the Bengals twenty.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Cincinnati's three Super Bowl losses have been by five points,
- 8:29Speaker 1: four points, and now three points. The Bengals Booth podcast
- 8:34Speaker 1: is presented by Ultimate Bengals, the free to play fantasy
- 8:37Speaker 1: football game. This year, Ultimate Bengals awarded a weekly winner
- 8:41Speaker 1: during the course of the season with tickets, autograph merchandise,
- 8:44Speaker 1: and money can't Buy experiences all up for grabs. Find
- 8:48Speaker 1: Ultimate Bengals in the App Store and Google Play. Now
- 8:53Speaker 1: time for postgame comments. The first topic the dominant play
- 8:57Speaker 1: of Aaron Donald and the Rams defensive front, as they
- 9:01Speaker 1: finished with seven sacks and eleven quarterback hits. Here are
- 9:05Speaker 1: Zach Taylor and Joe Burrow. Every tape we've watched, they
- 9:09Speaker 1: hit every single quarterback almost on every single snap, and
- 9:12Speaker 1: so it's a challenge. I thought our guys would tremendous job.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Earlier in the game, managing that as the game gets on.
- 9:17Speaker 1: You know, they did a good job creating that pressure,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and so when we had some negative plays in first
- 9:21Speaker 1: and ten, you know, running the ball on second thirteen
- 9:24Speaker 1: is gonna be pretty tough. So you know, it was
- 9:26Speaker 1: just being more efficient in the second half of first
- 9:28Speaker 1: and ten would have helped us. They played really well
- 9:30Speaker 1: front to day. You know, I was proud of the
- 9:32Speaker 1: way that they fought. I've been proud of the way
- 9:34Speaker 1: that they fought all season. So we all have to
- 9:37Speaker 1: get better individually and myself included. Between the regular season
- 9:41Speaker 1: and postseason, Burrow was sacked seventy times. Here c j Uzamba,
- 9:47Speaker 1: you're one your quarterback to get hit one time, let alone.
- 9:49Speaker 1: However many times it was you know, not even coming
- 9:52Speaker 1: the things that weren't sacks, just him getting hit in general.
- 9:55Speaker 1: So it has been tough. You know, there's I mean,
- 10:00Speaker 1: that's a franchise, right you don't want to see your
- 10:02Speaker 1: franchise quarterback get hit as many times as he did.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And that's probably gonna be a point of emphasis coming up.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Improving the line will definitely be a point of emphasis.
- 10:10Speaker 1: But despite the rams pressure, Burrow threw for two hundred
- 10:13Speaker 1: and sixty three yards with a touchdown, no picks, and
- 10:17Speaker 1: a passer rating of one hundred point nine. And he
- 10:20Speaker 1: wasn't afraid to challenge Jalen Ramsey. Te Higgins had that
- 10:24Speaker 1: seventy five yard touchdown catch over Ramsey and finished with
- 10:27Speaker 1: four catches for one hundred yards. And Jamar Chase had
- 10:31Speaker 1: a forty six yard grab against Ramsey and he finished
- 10:35Speaker 1: with five catches four eighty nine. Here's Zach Taylor. Our
- 10:38Speaker 1: guys weren't afraid of anybody. You know. We've got tremendous
- 10:41Speaker 1: players on our team, and they got tired of the
- 10:43Speaker 1: narrative of all the things that other teams are going
- 10:45Speaker 1: to do it on him. And here we are in
- 10:46Speaker 1: the Super Bowl and are gonna stepped up and make plays.
- 10:48Speaker 1: The Bengals were only penalized four times in the game,
- 10:51Speaker 1: but three of the flags came back to back to
- 10:54Speaker 1: back in the final two minutes, including a highly questionable
- 10:59Speaker 1: defensive holding call on Logan Wilson that would have made
- 11:02Speaker 1: it fourth and goal from the eight for the Rams.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Instead of having to score a touchdown on the next
- 11:08Speaker 1: play to decide the game, La was gifted a first
- 11:12Speaker 1: down and scored a few plays later. Here are Mike
- 11:15Speaker 1: Hilton and Zach Taylor. Honestly, they was letting his play
- 11:19Speaker 1: all three quarters, and when got down today fourth, they started,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you know, being a little more flag happy. But he's
- 11:24Speaker 1: just named a game man. We just got to find
- 11:26Speaker 1: ways to win. I thought it was a really wall
- 11:28Speaker 1: fishing game, to be quite honest with you, and sometimes
- 11:31Speaker 1: it comes down to moments like those. I don't have
- 11:33Speaker 1: a great look at it, but but I thought the
- 11:35Speaker 1: officials did a nice show. And despite the call on Wilson,
- 11:38Speaker 1: the Bengals still had a great opportunity to at least
- 11:41Speaker 1: force overtime. A seventeen yard passed to Chase and a
- 11:45Speaker 1: nine yard passed to Tyler Boyd made it second and
- 11:48Speaker 1: one at the forty nine with about a minute to go,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but a deep ball to Chase wasn't close, so JP
- 11:55Speaker 1: Ryan then got stopped for no game on a running
- 11:57Speaker 1: play and Aaron Donald's fun burrow around on fourth and one,
- 12:02Speaker 1: causing the incompletion that essentially ended the game. Here's burrow. Yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: when we hit that first playoff, thought we were going
- 12:09Speaker 1: to go down at least get a field, goalth title
- 12:10Speaker 1: game and send it into overtime. You got again. You
- 12:14Speaker 1: gotta give credit to them. They had They played their
- 12:17Speaker 1: tails off for those four plays and stopped to some
- 12:20Speaker 1: third and one in one fourth and one. So credit
- 12:22Speaker 1: to the bottom line is that the Bengals were one
- 12:25Speaker 1: minute and twenty five seconds from winning one of the
- 12:28Speaker 1: most unlikely Super Bowl titles of all time. Here's Zach Taylor,
- 12:33Speaker 1: proud of them. Special group stings right now. But you
- 12:37Speaker 1: got to find a way to just really cherish with
- 12:39Speaker 1: this group had together. It's a special group. It's it's
- 12:42Speaker 1: rare that you can coach a team like this, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: team means a lot. Proud of the way that they fought.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I thought they did a lot for our team, for
- 12:49Speaker 1: a organization, and for our city, and they need to
- 12:51Speaker 1: be really proud of that. When the team returned home
- 12:53Speaker 1: and approximately seven pm on Monday, a large crowd of
- 12:56Speaker 1: fans was waiting at Paul Brown Stadium to greet them
- 13:00Speaker 1: and thank them for a memorable and often magical season.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Here's c j Uzama. I love the city. I love
- 13:07Speaker 1: them backing us the entire year. I love going out
- 13:09Speaker 1: and people are just yelling randomly, you know, just hude
- 13:13Speaker 1: and trying to stop you in front of your car,
- 13:15Speaker 1: like when you're at a red light. It's dope. It
- 13:17Speaker 1: really is. Since he since he's a fun place, I
- 13:20Speaker 1: think you see started it. Shoot baseball started at low
- 13:23Speaker 1: key rets, we're on a run. U see started it
- 13:26Speaker 1: and we continued it on. So since he's since he's
- 13:28Speaker 1: growing really big and you know, I'm excited to see
- 13:31Speaker 1: kind of the fan base. Girl. This podcast has brought
- 13:33Speaker 1: to you in part by on Location, the official hospitality
- 13:37Speaker 1: partner of the NFL. Visit on location exp dot com
- 13:41Speaker 1: for exclusive access to the biggest events in the NFL,
- 13:44Speaker 1: including the Super Bowl. Now time for some postgame analysis
- 13:49Speaker 1: with my broadcast partner, Dave Lapham. We recorded this on
- 13:53Speaker 1: a bus with the players, friends and family members from
- 13:55Speaker 1: the stadium back to the team hotel after the game.
- 13:59Speaker 1: The audio is briefly distorted in a couple of moments,
- 14:03Speaker 1: but quickly returns to normal. Lap Unfortunately a familiar storyline
- 14:08Speaker 1: for the Bengals in the Super Bowl. Super Bowl heartbreak.
- 14:11Speaker 1: They had their chances, They had a seven point lead
- 14:13Speaker 1: in the second half, they took a four point lead
- 14:15Speaker 1: to the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they could not protect Joe
- 14:18Speaker 1: Burrow in the second half and they wound up losing
- 14:19Speaker 1: the game. Yeah, I mean it was the protection pressure
- 14:24Speaker 1: thing was something that everybody was talking about, you know,
- 14:27Speaker 1: going into the game. It was obviously the biggest mismatch
- 14:32Speaker 1: in the game. The Rams had the number one win
- 14:35Speaker 1: rate as a defensive line as pass rushers, the Bengals
- 14:38Speaker 1: with thirtieth as an offensive line in protection. And that's
- 14:41Speaker 1: how it kind of turned out in the football game,
- 14:43Speaker 1: particularly in the second half. I mean for a quarter
- 14:45Speaker 1: and a half, I mean, the Bengals look good. I
- 14:47Speaker 1: mean they didn't give up a sack, and then the
- 14:51Speaker 1: dam broke and the water came pouring in and Aaron
- 14:54Speaker 1: Donald von Miller and everybody else, Floyd got his everybody,
- 14:58Speaker 1: everybody overpowered the Bengals. I mean thought that they made
- 15:00Speaker 1: a concerted effort to just decide to bull rush, just
- 15:04Speaker 1: to power rush the Bengals and you know, not try
- 15:07Speaker 1: to quick them and make moves and all that sort
- 15:09Speaker 1: of thing. And then twist started getting home. You know,
- 15:12Speaker 1: just simple to e tackle penetrate end loop tackle consumed
- 15:16Speaker 1: two guys and the other way around, end penetrate consumed
- 15:19Speaker 1: two and tackle loop tackle twists inside those kind of
- 15:22Speaker 1: things started getting home with regularity and Joe Burrow had
- 15:25Speaker 1: no time, no space, and obviously he had to be frustrated.
- 15:29Speaker 1: It was not a not a pretty performance down the stretch,
- 15:32Speaker 1: that's for sure. Up front, they need to address that
- 15:35Speaker 1: in free agency and the draft, and if they can
- 15:38Speaker 1: get to get some bodies there that would be helpful.
- 15:41Speaker 1: After nine sacks and they Tennis Ce game, the Bengals
- 15:45Speaker 1: changed things up on the offensive line and alternated. I
- 15:48Speaker 1: came idenergy and Jackson Carmen had right guard. Jackson got
- 15:51Speaker 1: fifty one percent of the snaps in the AFC Championship game.
- 15:54Speaker 1: He didn't get a single snap as far as I
- 15:56Speaker 1: could tell in the Super Bowl. Do you figure it
- 15:59Speaker 1: just had to be the back acting up? I figured, yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I mean he missed quite a few practices and those
- 16:06Speaker 1: things you can flare up and cause issues. And I'm
- 16:10Speaker 1: sure that maybe during pregame warm up, something, you know,
- 16:14Speaker 1: flare it up on him and for him not to
- 16:16Speaker 1: take a snap whatsoever, he obviously didn't trust that thing.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I don't know if the trainers ruled him out or
- 16:22Speaker 1: he told everybody that he just felt like he couldn't go,
- 16:25Speaker 1: But whatever the case was, he because you think a
- 16:30Speaker 1: guy at that age, at any age. Really, he doesn't
- 16:32Speaker 1: want to miss the Super Bowl, so it has to
- 16:35Speaker 1: be something pretty significant for him not to be able
- 16:38Speaker 1: to play whatsoever. I can see why maybe Frank decided
- 16:41Speaker 1: missing practices, you're not going to get as many reps
- 16:44Speaker 1: as a Dentergy, but to get none, particularly the way
- 16:47Speaker 1: I Dentergy was kind of struggling against Aaron Donald and
- 16:50Speaker 1: some of that bullrush stuff. Carmen's a bigger body, naturally
- 16:53Speaker 1: stronger type guy. You know, you think you maybe give
- 16:56Speaker 1: it a look. So I think it was something physically
- 16:58Speaker 1: that was preventing Jack's and Karments from going out there
- 17:01Speaker 1: and give it effort. The other big problem for the
- 17:03Speaker 1: Bengals in the game was their inability to convert on
- 17:05Speaker 1: third and short and fourth and short two instant since
- 17:08Speaker 1: in the game where they had an eight yard gain
- 17:10Speaker 1: on first down and could not get two more yards
- 17:13Speaker 1: to move the sticks, Third and short killed them, Third
- 17:16Speaker 1: and long killed him defensively. I mean they were in
- 17:19Speaker 1: situations third and nine. I can remember a third and seven.
- 17:22Speaker 1: You know, they gave up chunk plays, big plays, and
- 17:24Speaker 1: that's uncharacteristic. So you know the thing that Zach was
- 17:29Speaker 1: talking about that he was so impressed with with the
- 17:31Speaker 1: team all season long was being situational masters, you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and they didn't master it in the Super Bowl. Third down,
- 17:39Speaker 1: third and short offensive it was an issue. Third and
- 17:41Speaker 1: long defensively was an issue. Red zone was an issue.
- 17:46Speaker 1: They let they let the Rams you know, score three
- 17:49Speaker 1: red zone touchdowns, which is uncharacteristic, and they could only
- 17:53Speaker 1: generate one themselves, and uh, you know, it just ended
- 17:57Speaker 1: up all that, all that collectively ended up biting them.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You know, they're only I think the fifteam in Super
- 18:03Speaker 1: Bowl history to lose the Super Bowl having a plus
- 18:07Speaker 1: turnover margin. But in my mind it's not plus because
- 18:10Speaker 1: I think that they should change the turnover to include
- 18:14Speaker 1: fourth down stops because it's the same thing. You're ending
- 18:17Speaker 1: a possession without a kick, no punt, extra point in
- 18:20Speaker 1: field goal, and that happened at the Bengals twice twice,
- 18:22Speaker 1: another situation, no situational football. Fourth down in short they
- 18:27Speaker 1: lose on two of them, and one of the first quarter,
- 18:30Speaker 1: on one of the fourth quarter, they're ultimately costing the
- 18:32Speaker 1: football game. They convert on either one of them could
- 18:34Speaker 1: be a different deal. The other thing, Dan is field position.
- 18:39Speaker 1: They get killed. You know, their last four drives. I
- 18:42Speaker 1: think it was the last four and maybe the last five,
- 18:45Speaker 1: the average drive start was a twenty yard differential. I
- 18:47Speaker 1: mean the Rams were basically at their own forty. The
- 18:50Speaker 1: Bengals were at their own twenty. And that you know,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you're giving up two first downs, and you're having trouble
- 18:55Speaker 1: pass protecting, and you're giving up twenty yards per possession,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and you know you're having negative plays because you're getting sacked.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That's that that put you behind the eight ball too.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Did t Higgins get away with offensive pass interference and
- 19:08Speaker 1: or a face mask on the seventy five yard touchdown? Yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I mean you look at it. Ramsey was upset and
- 19:15Speaker 1: rightfully so when you look at the replay, I mean
- 19:17Speaker 1: you can see Ramsey's head get jerked, you get torked
- 19:20Speaker 1: a little bit. So there was something that could have
- 19:22Speaker 1: been called. The official was blocked out of it, I
- 19:25Speaker 1: guess didn't really get a good view of it. So
- 19:28Speaker 1: I mean that that was a fortunate non call. And really,
- 19:32Speaker 1: you know, throughout the course of the game, the officials
- 19:34Speaker 1: pretty much kept their flags in their pocket and let
- 19:37Speaker 1: the players determine the outcome, and down the stretch you know,
- 19:41Speaker 1: at the end of that drive, with all the penalties
- 19:43Speaker 1: that were called in the low red zone, you know,
- 19:45Speaker 1: that was that was kind of against the flow of
- 19:49Speaker 1: how the game was called otherwise. So but with with
- 19:53Speaker 1: what went on in that play, I guess you really
- 19:55Speaker 1: can't complain all that much because the Bengals got a huge,
- 19:58Speaker 1: huge touchdown coming out of the third quarter, coming out
- 20:01Speaker 1: of the locker room for the third quarter, and how
- 20:04Speaker 1: about them plus eighty a regular season and playoffs in
- 20:08Speaker 1: the third quarter differential best in the league. I mean,
- 20:10Speaker 1: they just dominated people and early on, you know, right away,
- 20:14Speaker 1: come out of that locker room and score points. I
- 20:16Speaker 1: thought when they won the twenty cosson deferred, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: he thought something was going to happen, either at the
- 20:22Speaker 1: end of the half, are you gonna get the third
- 20:23Speaker 1: quarter or both, like it had happened so many times
- 20:26Speaker 1: during the season. Fifteen carries seventy two yards for Joe
- 20:29Speaker 1: Mixon four point eight yards per crack. But he was
- 20:33Speaker 1: not the guy that got the ball on fourth and
- 20:35Speaker 1: one either time. Yeah, he wasn't in the game. You know,
- 20:39Speaker 1: p Ryan was in there, and I thought, oh, maybe
- 20:40Speaker 1: he's in there for blitz peckup, but he stayed in
- 20:42Speaker 1: the game. So you wonder if Joe, you know, he's
- 20:45Speaker 1: had ankling problems, he's had other injuries, you know, to
- 20:48Speaker 1: his legs, maybe he exacerbated some kind of an injury
- 20:51Speaker 1: there for him to not be on the football field
- 20:54Speaker 1: down the stretch. I mean there, you know, you have
- 20:57Speaker 1: to figure that he got nicked up in some ways
- 21:00Speaker 1: performed two where it was to the point where he
- 21:02Speaker 1: felt it was better to have one hundred percent smaj
- 21:05Speaker 1: p rud in the football game rather than whatever percent
- 21:08Speaker 1: Joe Mixon would have been operating on under in that case.
- 21:11Speaker 1: And I should clarify they gave it to p right
- 21:14Speaker 1: on third and one, then tried to throw it on
- 21:16Speaker 1: fourth and one both times and it didn't work. So
- 21:20Speaker 1: going forward, Bengals obviously have a great nucleus. Most of
- 21:26Speaker 1: these guys will be back, but it's so hard to
- 21:29Speaker 1: get back to the Super Bowl, particularly the AFC. Right now.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It's any great on quarterbacks, it really is. I mean,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know, we talked about it before Dan Marino. Everybody thought,
- 21:40Speaker 1: oh he's young stud early early in his career. He
- 21:44Speaker 1: goes to the Super Bowl against Joe Montana and he
- 21:47Speaker 1: and his team get thrashed by Joe Montana in the
- 21:49Speaker 1: forty nine ers and he never goes back. You know,
- 21:51Speaker 1: a Hall of Famer through for five thousand yards in
- 21:54Speaker 1: like nineteen eighty four with like forty whatever odd touchdowns.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's like, this is a guarant this guy's going back
- 22:01Speaker 1: perennially never again. So you just you just never know.
- 22:05Speaker 1: You can't you can't count on anything. Obviously, That's why
- 22:10Speaker 1: it was. It was there for the taken. That's the
- 22:13Speaker 1: frustrating thing. It was there for the take and if
- 22:15Speaker 1: they just you know, you can in these kind of games,
- 22:19Speaker 1: and you know, I've been there. Man, it's hard to
- 22:22Speaker 1: get over Super Bowl losses. And the thing is they
- 22:24Speaker 1: didn't self destruct. They didn't turn it over fourth down,
- 22:28Speaker 1: they didn't get to do a good job on shortyarded
- 22:30Speaker 1: situations on third and fourth down, but actually fumbling or
- 22:34Speaker 1: interceptions being thrown, you know, that wasn't the case. But
- 22:37Speaker 1: they did self destruct on those shortyarded situations by lack
- 22:41Speaker 1: of execution and or as sigmon er or a combination
- 22:44Speaker 1: of both. So you can always go back to those
- 22:47Speaker 1: you can go back to a million things in that
- 22:49Speaker 1: football game that if this didn't happen, or that didn't happen.
- 22:53Speaker 1: There's got to be probably twenty in a football game
- 22:56Speaker 1: like this that you if any one of them went differently,
- 23:00Speaker 1: they're either in overtime plan still or the game ends
- 23:04Speaker 1: a different way. The good news going forward is they've
- 23:07Speaker 1: got the quarterback and they've got a lot of great
- 23:09Speaker 1: players around him, and the fan base is all the
- 23:12Speaker 1: way back. Any sort of anger dating back to the
- 23:17Speaker 1: nineteen nineties is gone. Sincinnati has fallen back in love
- 23:20Speaker 1: with this football team. It really has. And I think
- 23:23Speaker 1: I think a performance. You know, one thing about these
- 23:26Speaker 1: guys is their grit showed. You know, even though you
- 23:31Speaker 1: know they didn't perform well in some areas, most specifically
- 23:37Speaker 1: protecting the quarterback, they just never quit. They never say die.
- 23:41Speaker 1: They're very pretty. I think they probably got a respect
- 23:45Speaker 1: from a large part of the population because they're you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: their blue collar, they're you know the American way, you know,
- 23:52Speaker 1: fight scratch claw ever you get an opportunity to take
- 23:55Speaker 1: full advantage of it, and they almost won a Super
- 23:58Speaker 1: Bowl where you know, shoot, they were and even on
- 24:01Speaker 1: national television in terms of Sunday night or Monday night
- 24:03Speaker 1: football at all, this year, and they're gonna be on
- 24:05Speaker 1: a bunch next year because I think the country has
- 24:08Speaker 1: fallen in love with Joe Burrow and this football team,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and obviously the city of Cincinnati and the Tri State
- 24:13Speaker 1: Air and everybody sure has. But um, you know, I
- 24:17Speaker 1: do I do think that. I do think they've made
- 24:21Speaker 1: a lot of fans. I'd be stunned if the TV
- 24:25Speaker 1: ratings aren't record because you know, over three out of
- 24:30Speaker 1: every five TV sets watched the playoffs during you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: the playoff games, and they were all come down to
- 24:37Speaker 1: the wire. Well, this is the super Bowl, this is
- 24:39Speaker 1: the the huge deal. This is it. So I bet
- 24:44Speaker 1: all kinds of eyeballs were on this football game and
- 24:46Speaker 1: hopefully listening to radio broadcasts of it too, because the
- 24:50Speaker 1: interest is at an all time high. I mean in
- 24:52Speaker 1: the NFL, it's like it's like IBM used to be.
- 24:55Speaker 1: You know, you say ib Everyone's like, ooh, well now
- 24:58Speaker 1: it's the NFL. Man, It's it's not Fortune's Fortune five.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean everybody's like all National Football League, anything associated
- 25:06Speaker 1: with the NFL get some big time respect these days,
- 25:09Speaker 1: for sure. But more on the super Bowl and what
